i think dnp fill my heart so much bc they feel like the queer representation that is so lacking but is so real (to me at least)
they are objectively normal, they are silly and goofy, they arent 365 party girls, they aren’t getting married and having kids and doing that thing, they are in a long-term relationship and are just themselves, have a house together, are each others main friend and they just LIVE as gay people
i feel like i see myself & my partner in how they live & are together? Its hard to explain but i really feel represented in a really wholehearted genuine way
it feels like i can connect my own experiences with them in some way, like forging your own path for life when you didnt have any representation of how your life could look like this
they really are the gay couple who enjoy each others presence as best friends but who have an entire wonderful life together and it makes me happy to know that there are people out there living lives that are queer and fulfilling!!!! Maybe in a boring way but its OUR way

MK1 is a major step back on the little queer representation the Mortal Kombat series has
Now, Mortal Kombat hasn't ever been particularly avant-garde about LGBTQ+ representation. I'm aware of that. But with MK1 they've proved something to me: they're cowards.
Reworking SubScorp, basically the ship with a 20+ year lore and the most fandom activity of this entire franchise, into some weird, pseudo-incestuous thing for absolutely no reason, is already a step back. Making Tanya's and Mileena's relationship into this "impossible romance" (AKA a very convenient way of leaving things ~ implicit ~ ) and then proceeding to shift focus entirely to Tanya/Rain in the Khaos expansion is another step back (yes, Tanya is bisexual and that's not a problem, don't put words in my mouth - I mean to say they found a convenient way of giving her sapphic relationship little explicit subtext and then ran to focus on her M/F relationship).
Genderbending an originally male character (Sektor) to make it more palatable to the audience when you try to build chemistry with a male character is also such a display of cowardice. How does no one in this massive well-funded studio have balls to display an explicitly queer ship on screen like they display the straight ones?
They took the laziest approaches possible and I wish more people were talking about this, not gonna lie. At least with Kung Jin, who seems to have been banned to the shadowrealm for now, they gave him a little plot line portraying homophobia as a genuine fear many of us have. The "me" who played MKX was terrified of coming out at the time and having Raiden acknowledge and accept him made me sob in a good way.
It's frustrating to see this retrogression as a fan for 15~ years.

I can't wait for you analysis for chapter 161 :] Just finished reading through it and I'm just *feral bite like a small dog aggressively playing with their chew toy regarding Aqua*
Do you have any predictions regarding how the fallout of the chapter will go/the ending of the series?
I HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT WHEN IT WENT UP, ANON!!!
I keep saying I'm not gonna predict the ending of OnK because Aka could do licherally anything then my gears get turning lol. So here's some of my tinfoil hatting off the back of this chapter:
The imagery in Mephisto has me pretty certain Aqua will be going into the sea (he is Aqua'marine' after all……..) but I do also think there's a possibility that either or both of them won't go over. Building on Kamiki's declaration of 'doing something' for Ai, he could decide to push Aqua back as a final act of atonement to her, saving her son even at the cost of his life. They could be struggling at the fence, and Kamiki's very pointedly dropped cell phone still playing the B-Komachi concert could end up catching Aqua's attention and, as a representation of the future he wants to have, it causes him to finally give up on sacrificing himself.
HOWEVER, like I said, I do think Aqua will go into the sea and I think his doing so will be a metaphorical purification-by-water. It'll be the moment he finally lets go of all his pain and baggage and at last accepts that he, too, is deserving of the happy ending he wants to achieve for everyone else.
This is less speculation and more a wish, but I really hope he gets one of those like. 'conversation with a ghost' type moments with ai, where it's ambiguous whether or not he's just dreaming/hallucinating because i NEED aqua to call her mama at least once WHAT'S THE POINT OF THIS MANGA IF HE DOESN'T!!! BRO!!!!
Broadly speaking, I think Aqua will experience a sort of 'spiritual death' as his revenge-seeking self and emerge purified and ready to embrace his future. But probably also to go to the hospital AQUA YOUR STAB WOUND!!! 😭
I do also have a shot I'm not quite confident in calling definitively but I think would be cool; I think it's possible that 'Gorou' will die in Aqua's place, taking the weight of their past life with him and finally allowing Aqua at last to just live as 'Aqua Hoshino'. I think it'd be a cool resolution to what Gorou says in 150 of him being an old scar gradually fading and how Aqua needs to step down from being 'Gorou Amamiya'.
As for the overall resolution... not sure! I'm pretty sure volume 17 will be the last volume of Oshi no Ko (161 should be the second to last chapter of 16 for those keeping count) and between 161 and 150, it seems pretty clear to me we're getting an AquKana end and that we'll eventually see Ruby performing at the Dome, but apart from that, Akasaka could sling anything at us. I do think things are going to wrap up more sweet than bitter, though.

Some trauma/whump/abuse scenarios for you, because your character can be traumatized without having the literal joker for a parent. Like not all abuse is so outward, I would argue that most abuse looks more like this.
Feel free to add your own, this is just stuff I've experienced
Yelling. I don't mean being yelled at. I mean a child being in a household where their guardian is always stressed and always yelling. It puts your body in fight or flight mode for all of eternity, trust
Sex and other adult topics being discussed with or around a child before they can understand what they're talking about
In the same vein, adults talking about a child while right in front of their face, and not caring what they hear or believing that they don't understand what they're hearing (they always do)
Gaslighting. Phrases like "you dreamt that" "you're being too sensitive" "that never happened" "don't lie"(while telling the truth)
Guardians not supporting the child's interests, or even down right denouncing them, whether they do it by taking the interest away or insulting the child for participating or some secret third thing
Misplaced anger/adult taking out anger on the child
Food scarcity, specifically by refusing to buy food that a picky eater would eat, or not having enough money to keep food on the table
In a similar vein, buying luxury items like game systems, new clothes, TV's, etc, while not being able to afford to put food on the table (and if you want to be even cooler the guardian will make the child feel bad for complaining about not having basic needs met by pointing out all of their luxury items they've been bought, double points if the child didn't want or ask for any of it)
Being treated as a burden, or saying things like "you're too/so expensive" "you're so needy" "you're too spoiled"
Guardian A trying to turn their child against guardian B, making themselves look like the better caretaker or better person.
Guardian who treats their child as a friend, or overall not having enough boundaries between parent and child
Emotional absents. Being there, but never engaging with their child. On the flip side, forcing their kid to participate in something bc the guardian likes it, even if the child hates it
Parentifying their child or forcing them to take care of their household in an adult manner, like helping raise the other children, housework above their skill level, paying bills, etc
Lack of privacy. A guardian telling people about something the child doesn't want people to know about. It could be an embarrassing story, it could be about their sexuality, it could be something that sounds harmless
Physical abuse but only while inebriated, and being (what's at least perceived as) a good parent otherwise
Preventing a child from sleeping while they're tired/extreme sleep deprivation
Repeatedly breaking their trust, like not doing things they promised they would do, saying things they don't mean, bring people who don't like their child around their child, ect
Name calling
Feel free to add your own, or hop into my askbox !! It is always open !!

who else's kins have written and produced their own songs?
i am practically addicted to listening to music on a near constant basis, so it can be very euphoric whenever i hear this song come on. i feel like i'm on top of the world just for that minute and a half.
also the lyrics. THE LYRICS ARE SO ME???? OBVI. it's reaffirming for me!
i've also wanted to write my own songs and have attempted to in the past. i should try it again sometime soon! idk how to produce music at all, but i enjoy the lyricism. it's like poetry, basically.

I want so bad to write dog hybrid Oliver x reader, but I also want to write Oliver x dog hybrid reader. But instead of it being a poor innocent sweet baby puppy girl reader it's a demonic former fighting dog Oliver got as a rescue when she just showed up at his backyard one day cause "eh, I'm patient enough and big enough to handle that rehab". Turns out once he manages to gain her trust and get her in the house there is a very beautiful woman under all the grime and a very loving and kind one at that. Still a very terrifying dog, one that becomes like a livestock guardian after she gets attached to Oliver, but nothing like the monster she'd been made to be.

I cant stop thinking about the emphasis put on Booth underselling himself and wanting to be underestimated taking the hits for Jared when he fucks up
Something something children with abusive (particularly physically abusive) parents learning to be as quiet and invisible as possible to avoid getting hurt something something about children of abuse internalizing their parents anger and learning that they’re in the wrong, so everyone else must be right something something about Booth craving positive attention but giving to everyone else before himself because of his upbringing
Man
