Snake loved her don’t get me wrong and she misses her every day, but like, it wasn’t easy for her. it’s possibly why she matured really quickly

she loves being a mama but like, Fallen was a HASSLE to raise—she was bitey and screamed all the time!!! Stone and Vine aren’t easy either! Vine is well behaved but he always wants to roughhouse with someone while Stone is very timid and has a tendency of hiding… and Snake has a twisted paw right now so it’s been hard managing them lately. my girl is TIRED but she’s 100x more patient than her sisters are when it comes with kits lol

The most random out-of-order Nimona headcanons I've scrambled out of my mind and put in my notes as coherent as I could bc there's a LOTTTT

• I don't think Nimona uses specific names to label her sexuality/gender. Was she in love with Gloreth? Maybe she was. Maybe she was not. Does she like boys? Who knows, she sure doesn't. What's her gender? Nimona. That's it

• I think Ballister did try to be the cis ally™ and figure out the label Nimona would use but she'd just shrug her shoulders and say "I don't know, boss, it seems like you care about it more than I do"

• And even though she's NOT a girl, she uses she/her pronouns because 💥YOUR PRONOUNS DON'T DEFINE YOUR GENDER💥 you may use she/her and not be a girl, he/him and not be a boy, I even saw cis people use they/them simply bc they're comfortable. And that's okay!

• Although she's comfortable with people calling her he/they/neopronouns you name it. Just. Not it/its. You know the reasons😬

• Nimona is left-handed and it's CANON actually I am SO HAPPY as a left-handed person she's just like me fr💥💥

• Nimona isn't a big fan of domestic bliss Ambrosius and Ballister spend most of their time in (plus they're very sappy and very much disgustingly in love, Nimona's stoic organism can't handle their mushiness for the dear life), she's like an independent cat I think: comes to hang out, eats, spends time with her father-not-really figures and goes away for weeks only to come back again. She travels the world my dudes✨

• I think she has a bunch of photos from the places she'd been to and talks about her adventures a lot!

• Nimona also is the best cook of the fam I'm afraid. Ballister cooks, like, the bare minimum to serve himself as a functioning adult (rice, salad, pasta, some meat like you know the deal) but nothing too complicated. Ambrosius is a nepo baby who's probably lived in palaces and mansions with dozens of servants do you really think he's good at cooking😭 as he distanced himself from the Institute and moved in with Bal I think he learnt to cook, still not great at it.

• Nimona though? SHE CAN DO *ANYTHING* like she's madly good at cooking. It might look like she's burning the kitchen down only to reveal that she was putting Gordon Ramsay to shame!

• Ballister's experience is close to a second gen immigrant. Ambrosius's experience is close to a third gen immigrant. They can't be immigrants bc of the context of the story?? I DON'T CARE☺

• Ambrosius doesn't speak his mother tongue except for like a few words or phrases he's heard at home. His older relatives probably make fun of him for it on family gatherings. His parents didn't teach him because they didn't want him to stick out (totally not self projecting here - yeah I'm a third gen immigrant hiii)

• Ballister tho? I think Urdu was his first language but he learned English along the way

• And it kinda mixes in his head so he forgets the words from both languages sometimes and replaces them with the word from the other one (HA my experience again)

• When he's experiencing hard emotions, be it anger, happiness, sadness, or is overwhelmed, he drops English entirely and just starts bantering in Urdu

• Ambrosius didn't know Ballister was bilingual but when he learnt it? He was amazed and I think... Kinda jealous because he didn't get to learn Korean himself (self projection yeahhhhhh)

• "You know your mother tongue? Damn! I wish I did too!"

• That said, Ballister has no idea how to shorten Ambrosius's name (WHAT THE HECK IS THIS NAME BRO WHAT ARE YOU, GOD'S FOOD???), so he sticks to Urdu endearments, "luv" (in the most British accent possible) and "darling"

People who say French/Spanish are the romantic languages are wrong LISTEN TO URDU OR INDIAN LANGUAGES OR ARABIC. THAT'S WHERE LOVE IS DUDE

• Ambrosius has learnt like a few words in Urdu and tries to rizz up Ballister by saying some basic words like "jaan", "mohabbat" and just😭😭😭 fails😭😭😭 because he's a cringefail man😭😭😭

I remember trying to ask out my (NOW EX😔) gf who's Italian by writing "will you be my girlfriend?" in Italian and I used GOOGLE TRANSLATION🧍‍♂️🧍‍♂️ SHE UNDERSTOOD THAT I USED GOOGLE AND POINTED IT OUT AS A JOKE BUT I CRINGED AT MYSELF SO HARD..... Ambrosius would totally do that too and Ballister would chuckle and pull him in a kiss bc he loves this cringefail man so much

• Ambrosius also serenades like I KNOW DAMN WELL HE DOES. He goes "this one's for you, Bal" with a wink and sings like the sappiest most disgusting love ballad ever and Ballister tries his best not to laugh because that's his beloved boyfriend but also like.... • Also. I don't agree with people saying Ambrosius's a jock because have you seen this man?? He's a theatre kid. The worst kind of theatre kid. Hiiii Dana, hope you're doing so so well!! So sorry I took so long to comments on this chapter, life has been a whirlwind lately (a good one but I can barely catch up)

I read the chap a while ago but I was in a hurry so I barely remember what I wanted to say, I will sit down to reread calmly soon but for now, here are a few things I do kinda remember:

First off, I'm SO glad y/n and Tae's relationship is a bit better, even if they still have a long way to go to get back to how they were. I feel like their interaction sort off put both of their minds to a bit of ease (and I mean a TINI bit) and they both deserve to be at ease in the house so 🥳 BABY STEPS 🥳

Second off, I just love Joon more and more as each chapter goes on😭😭 Idk if anyone else is gonna agree but his character gives me the energy that a Divine Masculine is supposed to give and I just absolutely adore when he's in any scene. He's very clearly getting more comfortable around y/n and establishing his role in her life and we LOVE to see it🥹 All the kisses for him🥰

Also Jungkook is obviously still a bit of an ass most of the time, but can we appreciate how he's been gradually getting softer with y/n?? HELLO CHERRY!! I am finally answering your lovely review of Chapter Eighteen I'm very excited! I also hope you're doing well, I agree life has been so so so nuts lately (cold kicked my ass and it's hot as hell out!) BUT I digress! We do what we can!

AH okay so Tae and Y/N in chapter 18... they DID seem to take a tiny step forward but yes hard agree they have a little ways to go. Relationships are complicated and with the added bonus of all of the boys being hybrids, things get sticky LMAO. Most of them aren't used to humans treating them, well, like humans, so I think that's why hybrids such as Tae or Joon struggle with communication. That said, Y/N has all the time and patience in the world to work through the hiccups with them!

Joon BUG 😭 He really turned out to be sUCH a softie. Literally all bark minor bite. YES YES I so agree with him giving Divine Masculine vibes!!! He's very protective and comfortable being in a role of dominance, but not in a toxic way. I think he's grown to really really care for Y/N, especially since they have begun spending more time together during the investigations with Jeongguk. The fact that Y/N is interested in nurturing his interests and sharing them means a lot to Namjoon, I believe ❤️

Jeongguk the brat! I do love his comedic relief though. He might not be quite as soft as Namjoon quite yet, but he's getting closer to a Hoseok/Y/N vibe where they're besties. I like that he teases her and she teases him right back, whereas with Hoseok, Y/N is a bit more bashful with his teasing 👀 LMAOOO I love when his antlers fell off like Y/N was holding his face and he was like "this is just an average spring afternoon" 💀

Yessss I've seen others say that the cleansing might have been too easy or good to be true. We shall see if any of the spirits come back to follow the Dream Team around, but the three of them are getting to be a force to be reckoned with. They also have a lifetime of adventures together 😉

LIKE. god shes so interesting to me. i think shes pretty relatable in that frustration of "they dont take me seriously because im a kid," and its sad but admittedly kind of cute at the same time how hard she tries to act mature. truly i think that she does want to be praised for her skill because she IS smart and she has a knack for solving mysteries and thinking outside of the box i think but at the same time i think she just genuinely wants to do good!!! She gets upset when the adults in her life are treating roguefort unfairly!!!!!!! She has a genuine care for criminals that we dont see from other characters like cappuccino and almond and langue!!!!!!!! She doesnt want to capture roguefort in the name of justice or something she has DEFENDED them multiple times!!! on top of that its so interesting seeing her complicated relationship with almond ... almond knows how skilled she is but refuses to acknowlege it and thus she just tries harder. she doesnt see that almond is trying to protect her she thinks that almond just doesnt think shes good enough AUGHH. on top of all of that its so silly watching her try to be polite and mature but still being an awkward little kid ASUDFHDSUF i love walnut sm you dont understand. her and rogueforts dynamic of walnut thinking of things in a very linear "one logical answer" way while roguefort is trying to get her to realize how muddy life is makes me crazy u dont understanddd. ok i could yap more but i shall stop here THANK U FOR THE ASK HEHEHE (and yes i am two-trucks HFSDKJFD)

🦷 - in the new series I'm working on, the reader is going through a pretty harsh breakup and she has to explain her feelings about love when asked. obviously, she's heartbroken, so her thoughts on it are pretty skewed from her recent heartbreak. I'm not necessarily dreading it, but it does make me sad and emotional! here's a little snippet:

"Love is overrated," you say, staring out the window, avoiding his gaze. "Do you really mean that?" he asks, catching you in your lie. You sigh, watching the palm trees sway with the light breeze. "No, but it's complicated. Sometimes the end is worth it, sometimes it's not." You look at him this time, shrugging pathetically. "Love can hurt you just as much as it can heal you, and I'm learning that the hard way."

💥 - I'm very excited to write the first few chapters of my new nanami series (seriously I can't shut up about it sorry lol). here's a little snippet I wrote in my notes app LOL, not edited:

You step towards the stage to give the singer a tip. On your way back to the table, the older gentleman who was dancing earlier offers his hand, asking you to join him. You accept, giggling as he teaches you to rumba in rhythm to the music. He waves over at Nanami, still sat at the table. You subtly shake your head at him, letting him know he doesn't have to oblige this kind stranger. To your surprise, he stands up, walking to you with a small grin on his face. He watches, learning the steps himself, then takes your hands in his, gentle and soft to the touch. He follows your lead, one foot back as yours goes forward, the same on the other side. You're both focusing down, but as soon as you find yourselves in sync with one another, you look up at the same time, gazing into each other's eyes, smiling. And for just a split second, there's a spark that flares between you, radiating to every part of your body.

👻 - I would love to dabble in some fantasy! I don't think I'm skilled enough to create a fantasy world, but I might give it a shot one of these days :)

🎶 music and 💥💥💥 BANG!!

🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?

Oh ABSOLUTELY I listen to music! I find it nearly impossible to write without it, tbh. I always look for instrumental or cinematic music when writing certain scenes. I sometimes even build ambiance tracks with sound effects and such if it calls for it. Fun fact: the Undertale soundtrack is irreversibly tied in with The Harvester's creation. Undertale came out the same month that TH was made, and a lot of characters, scenes, and chapters were made while listening to the OST.

Lately I've been listening to a LOT of Set It Off, almost exclusively. Set It Off is my 'Hema Spite Band' [or one of them] and pretty much 90% of the time will spawn some art of him for my warm-ups. I've been listening to Projector, Cordial, Lonely Dance, Why Worry, Criminal Minds, and Midnight Thoughts in particular on any given day.

💥 How do you feel about criticism?

So....... I have a mixed relationship with Criticism! And it completely hinges on a few things.

1: Did I ask for criticism? 2: What is the nature of the writing? Was it for-fun, or was I TRYING to make something with quality?

For The Harvester, the truth is... I don't like unsolicited critique because 1: I didn't ask for it, and 2: It's... just a roleplay. That's all it is. It's a silly story written between myself and my GF, first-draft, and we don't take it super seriously. It's for fun, and because we like the story and characters! So we don't ask for criticism because tbh, that's not where we want it.

But, for example, sometimes I post mini-stories and actually DO want critique on it. In those cases, I /ask/ for it. I want to seek improvement, and want to hear what I could do better.

I think my biggest problem with online criticism unfortunately, though, is that it often isn't offered in a constructive or healthy way. A criticism should offer both what the person thinks you did wrong, but also what they think you did /well./ That way they know what to build off of, and what to continue doing.

Also... writing criticism is particularly hard because it's much more subjective than, say, the anatomy on a drawing of a human. Every author is trying to achieve something different. One author may be trying to make social commentary, and they would want criticism on their writing to further meet their goal. One author may want to be as grammatically correct and concise as possible. One may want to make you uncomfortable. Another may want to make a steamy romance. Another author [me] may want to paint vivid animations into people's heads, and to take them on fantasy journeys with fun characters and at least vaguely-interesting plots that keep you guessing!

Each of these authors would need a different flavor of criticism. And they don't often overlap. For example, I rarely want criticism on my grammar, punctuation, or more technical things. I focus more on imagery, word choice, sensory stimulation, and making my writing as fun [but understandable] as possible! So it may be at a third-grade reading level, but is it fun??? If yes, then great! My writing structure may be a lil wonky, or a bit amateurish, but that's okay. I'm having fun, and Corrie [my GF] is having fun, and to us, that's all that matters. <3

So, criticism has its place... but it's complicated and subjective, and I don't like receiving it when it's not asked for.

💭 What inspires you and your writing?

I always found the "inspiration" questions to be really hard to answer, because I'm not always 100% sure what qualifies as inspiration to be honest? If I had to answer beyond the obvious (just living one's life, watching others live theirs, get involved with other people's art, learn cool facts about being alive and how we made it obtuse and complicated), I think my thing is to notice intersections, heighten them and push them in a direction that I can then observe? I think it's why I really like fan creation: there isn't the arbitrary part of making things up that could be literally anything, it's more about reckoning with particular feelings and exploring where they come from and what they mean. I think I create in a very... reactory way, if that makes sense? Which sounds awful put like that, but oh well!!!!

👓 What helps you focus when you write?

Two things!

Music and a drink of some kind (generally tea or coffee, but can be a nice cold something, or even alcohol in rare occasions)

NO INTERNET.

This second part is so crucial. As time goes by, I think I have a fairly decent amount of suspicion that I fall somewhere on the ADHD spectrum, and so the internet simply murders my ability to focus. I didn't use to be so bad, but two burnouts before hitting 25 years old will mess up a brain real good, and now I need my way out of the interwebs to do anything remotely productive.

I am so worried about the inevitable moment where my old phone dies and I *have* to get a smartphone.

🚀 Do you like to outline your fic first or create as you go?

It mostly depends on the story. If it's a short piece, I either don't outline or outline in extremely broad strokes.

When it comes to longer pieces, I do outline pretty extensively! I have developed a method that works extremely well for me and involves some sort of table that recaps what's going on in a given chapter, but also notes any crucial information we're supposed to learn regarding main character arcs, main plot and subplots. I only get to the table phase once I have a seriously good idea of what the story will be, which usually takes several notebooks to iron out.

Even then, the outline is pretty loose, and I know I will make adjustments while putting the actual words on the page --there's always something I forgot to take into account, or a narrative opportunity I didn't realize was there to begin with.

(also sometimes I forget what I put in my outline and remembers too late oops)

💥 What is one canon thing that you wish you could change?

Oh nooooooo this is so hard!!! And what is hard about it is to only pick one!!!

So I'm trying to pick the one that would have the most positive impact overall, and that reflects my arbitrary bias the least (it still will, but I'm not picking something like "more salarians", which for sure would be great for me but wouldn't do much to enhance the story as a whole)

So. I love Mass Effect 2, I really do. It's my favorite of the trilogy, mostly thanks to its bold narrative design that was pretty revolutionary at the time, and its cast of amazing characters. But... I think the main plot kind of makes very little sense, and its connection to the rest of the trilogy is tenuous at best.

The thing I would change is that instead of Collectors reaping out humans colonies to make a Super Human Reaper, which is pretty stupid, Collectors are still there (and maybe still kidnapping colonists why not), but they are used as an inside job inside the Terminus Systems to stirr trouble and mess things up between different factions, increasing tensions between Council Space and the Terminus Systems before the invasion strikes. We can keep the whole game pretty similar, except that the danger is less in humans disappearing (which... ok mary sues why is it always about you) and more in "we are eating our own instead of being united against the Reapers when they do arrive". We could get a great peak of who are these people opposing the Council and why, and get a sense of the "dark" side of the Milky Way --which I think was always the intention, though it got a little muddied-- and why it still deserves to be saved. We can keep everything: the suicide mission, us being allied with Cerberus and questionning the Alliance, the diverse perspective of all these suicidal outcasts... And!!! That would justify giving depth to batarians, I did it, I made batarians part of my change without making it seem as if the one thing I would change is to write batarians in a better way!!!

(my other pick for those who are curious would be to rework Priority: Thessia and make it less sexist. I really think just reworking this mission would make ME3 overall less weirdly bitter --though toning down the sexism in the entire game also works)

Nemore ignored the alien’s brutish sturdiness to return the salarian his defiant gaze; a pastel shade that looked like a discreet blush, an unbecoming secret. He was young, his clothes baggy and practical and unkempt; used to run away from the local city watch, his angles sharpened by the toll of constant revolt, or the streets, or long-term overdose. She wondered whether his mother knew where he was, if she knew about the imprint that krogan claws left on his skin and how it was now overpowering the imprinting on her; whether these claws ever dug deep enough to soil her son’s blood.

She clenched her teeth. Her crusade had never been about saving everyone –especially not souls desperate to sink themselves back to lower cycles. The Salarian Union was a collective struggle, but collective didn’t imply all-encompassing. Nemore was well aware of the sacrifices left to make. All those wayward girls and motherless boys; tragically lost, incapable of being saved.

She wrenched her attention away from the nauseating pair, and back at the crowd chanting her name.

“They’re too close,” Nemore murmured to her security chief. “Get them away from my people.”

🎨 wip ask game!

Ok. I will do this. I will. As soon as I can

IM HERE! I SHOULD BE DOING OTHER THINGS BUT IM HERE. Oh yeah and if you are likely to play D&D with me in real life please do not read. PLEASE.

🌍- Setting… hmmm… well we’re gonna talk about hollow tree because I need to regain motivation to work on it. The village they emerge in is very isolated. There used to be other places nearby, but they are completely abandoned. When the tree became active, most people fled the area and found another way of living, but the braver and more adventurous were, in many cases, forced to stay behind. Many generations have passed since then, so the people only know that there were inhabitants of those towns at some point in the past, and that they left because of the tree.

👑 - Rulers. When everyone left, the adventurer’s guild sort of.. took over in many ways. People turned to them for guidance, and the leaders of the guild now control most affairs of the town. This does mean that some abilities of trained rulers, such as monitoring production and keeping crime rates down were half-lost in the transition, and at this point, the leaders in the essential crafts are included in the ruling class, and the adventurer’s guild has lost some of its initial influence.

🏆- So, the end goal. This is kind of muddled because this is brainstorming for a D&D campaign but. The village is afraid of this tree because it leaks raw chaos magic (leaks may have been the wrong word but I’m keeping it now!). If the tree is left alone for too long, with no one traveling into it, monsters will emerge from the tree to attack the town, and occassionally, someone in the town will disappear into the tree during these attacks. Theoretically, the goal of the adventurers (in this case, Grian, Scar, and Gem) would be to stop these invasions and stop the seeping of chaos magic into the world by killing or destroying the source. This gets… a tad complicated.

⌛️- I’m honestly not quite sure what time period this takes place in. I think the realm in the tree is somewhat outside of time, and the village is advanced enough to have writing and whatnot. It’s probably sort of like medieval times, but… this isn’t Earth and everything developed differently

⛪️ - There are a couple of religions within the village. Although, it might be more accurate to call the majority of them cults. There is a dominant religion which I don’t think I’m going to go into too much, but it’s polytheistic and the clash of chaos and order is important. When the tree appeared, the group split, with most people believing that the attacks came as some sort of punishment from a god of death or something, but some people believing that the tree was a manifestation of some unknown and very powerful deity. The latter group devoted themselves to the tree and sought ways to appease it, rules shifting and changing when members were taken. The other group regarded the tree with fear, and most accepted its judgement as random, some seeking to pretend the tree was not there in the hopes that it would ignore them. Oddly enough, this didn’t not work.

Oh yeah and there’s also an underground cult for shits and giggles that worships the lane-oiling machine at a bowling alley. Idk if I will include this in the fic but it will be discoverable in the campaign.

💥- The conflict is definitely between the town/adventurers and the tree and it’s inhabitants. I don’t know what else to say about this. Words.

💣- The climax is triggered by two characters you haven’t met yet, who will be played by Etho and Joel. When they determine that Grian, Scar, and Gem have the abilities, they will lead the group deeper into the forest to find the creature who is causing all of this.

🤫- Big spoiler out of context? It’s just, like, some random old person. And they’ve been asleep the whole time.

🦋- This is hard. Because it’s a D&D campaign, the main characters can’t really have a lot of transformation- that’s determined by the players. The one NPC who I can say has a great deal of character development is Joel and Etho’s son. I can’t decide whether this is gonna be X, Mumbo, or Bdubs. We’ll see. He gets a little more fun at the end though. The other character who would have good development isn’t in the fic, soooo

🤒 - Is there a whump in the wip? See, this is even more difficult because I do plan on almost playing the campaign myself as I go through it. So yeah, someone might almost die or something. There will be stress. NPC friends might die depending on if we make friends with them. We’ll see!

🎧- Oddly enough, I do not have a playlist for this yet. So hold on while I think. It’ll be fast for you but not for me. This is taking a long time but I have one: Afraid of Quiet by Lydia the Bard and Ben Tomalin applies to the creature causing the chaos. Won’t Give Into Darkness by CK9C, but more Won’t Give Into Chaos technically. What words there are fit pretty well. OH! The Milk Carton by Madilyn Mei FITS SO WELL. That’s three. It took me like an hour 😅

🐱- The animals. So on the same side, the animals are fairly normal. They are far more susceptible to the chaos than fully conscious people, so they aren’t often kept as pets and animal farming and hunting is impacted significantly by the fact that animals occassionally go crazy and start attacking everything. On the chaos side, animals generally look rough, and the fauna consists mostly of monsters and of animals who went crazy or were taken during attacks.

🤝- Clearly the adventurers met when they entered the tree to play the newest Decked Out, and they meet shopkeepers as they explore the village. They meet Etho, Joel, and [undetermined]’s characters soon after entering back into the tree the first time. Most of the initial paths lead to their cottage. Perhaps I will write this bit sooner rather than later. I need to stop limiting myself to writing chronologically. As to how they meet the “antagonist” [undetermined] leads them to see it. I really don’t know whether they’re going to speak to each other or not.

🥀- Yea, I think I mentioned this earlier. Characters will die. No characters played by HC members will die, but likeable full-NPC characters will die. I’m not giving you any more specifics yet..

👀- piece of lore I really want to share? Etho and Joel play old gay grandfathers and Joel’s character has a violently blue fashion sense.

🕳️ - Plot holes. Uhhh… I’ll bet there are some but I am not far enough into the writing to have found any I don’t know how to patch up. 🌑 - Symbolism! I’d love to say I’d thought about that! There will be a creaky bridge! Simple things like darkness = danger, light generally being safe, but neon colors, which will often glow, are contradictory, also representing danger. I might try to use which plants are in an area to represent things. We’ll see.

🔮 - Magic system? Erm.. it’s D&D. So uh. Yes? Scar is going to be a wizard. I feel like I’ve already explains anything that might deviate from that base.

🎨 - OOOOHHH DARK GOOPY PURPLE AND VIBRANT GREEN. Also wood texture.

💡- Inspiration! So, the whole thing was actually inspired by a dream I had, which, oddly, I can still remember as vividly as it originally was months and months ago. Then I went, “Oh! D&D!” And then “Book for brainstorming!” And then “ooo what if fanfic?!” And that’s how this happened.

Gifted child raised in such a competitive way, not allowed to express himself so he transform all his emotions in anger, cause that’s the only he can manage, prefer not to try rather than taking the risk of failing. 💥 Try to calm my muse during an overwhelming emotional moment (todd)

Explosive was the one way to describe Todd’s emotions. Joy, sadness, anger, grief –– it all came out in heated, unrestrained ways which he had no real tools to reign them in with. So often Todd felt like his emotions didn’t belong to him. They existed inside him but his ability to hold them steady or smooth them out seemed an impossible task. It’s only made worse when his mind diverts from its baseline. 

His anger blends with fear and sadness, his heart racing as he tries to level himself out from the mounting lack of control that’s been building for a few days now. It hasn’t worked so far, and he knows he just needs to wait until it subsides, he knows he just has to wait until the clock strikes 10pm and he can take his meds. He knows this, but it’s so hard to rationalize when his head was splitting so violently. 

He paces in his apartment, tears streaming down freckled cheeks, lips curled back into a snarl, making those blood shot and iridescent eyes squint against the intensity of his expression. His hands come up to press the heels of his palms against his temples, unsure how to explain the way he cannot seem to level himself out to her. 

He feels foolish. He’s told her before about his bipolar, but he’s never explained what to do or how to act. He’s never told her how hard it was, how ugly it made him feel, how uneasy, how out of control. 

“Just––– DON’T COME CLOSER!” Todd barks, raising his voice so loud it echos off the walls of the small place he calls his own. He doesn’t mean to, but he saw her take a step towards him and he cannot help the spike in worry. He backs up, tucking his arms around his body, fear and upset swirling in his eyes as he looks at her. He knows he won’t hurt her –– not physically, but he knows his tongue can be as sharp as the teeth that cage it. Even still, even knowing this, he keeps his hands busy, tucking them away so she cannot see the way they bundle into fists.
