Gotta Catch Them...(Imperator)
Summary: The headcanons nobody asked for that I'm gonna do anyway. What are the Papa's Pokémon? Plus, one because why not? Bad bitch needs a bad team.
I threw in this little bit. Every Papa has what can be called their 'mascot' Pokémon. The one present in all the interviews and magazine covers, and making stage appearances. Their starters are not necessarily their mascots, simply which on their team best represents them.
Also, every Papa has become a Papa in more way than one. In an effort to better prepare them for progeny, they are given an egg that hatches into a pre-evolved form. Can't let his Prime Mover do all the work. It's also to instill this idea of paternity as more than just status to the members of the church.
What happened to Papa's Pokémon after their death? The rumors are they were donated to the Clergy or simply just released. They could be sitting on a shelf in the crypt with their respective Papa's bodies. I can tell you one thing. They all put up a fight.
Imperator was a very skilled and passionate trainer in her youth. She was on her way to becoming a champion but quit halfway. She never applied for championship because she hadn't seen it challenging enough. It also had to do with the fact that she’s wanted for not...holding back.
Starter as Mankey. He's used to threaten those nasty Christians and was her lead in every battle. However, he had this habit of OHKO everything put in front of him. Max EVs in attack and naturally three perfect IVs. I don't know where she found him. Or what lottery she played. There is no separating them. This dude will follow her to Hell and back.
Without blood to shed and fights to win, he roams the land behind the Abbey now. Past the forest and into the mountains. He occasionally shows up unannounced for scratches. He has scars, is her toughest fighter, and many people are in awe that she managed to capture or hatch an Alpha.
Star crossed. It's not actually captured. She wouldn't dare try to catch it and bring unending nightmares to herself. They have an accord. It haunts the Abbey and keeps the new blood on their toes, and she pretends she doesn't see it eating all the canned fruit in the cafeteria.
Very nasty and very aggressive. He quietly stalks the halls of the Abbey to make sure nothing too sinful is afoot, such as undermining Imperators authority Has recently taken to sharpening his claws within Copia's eyesight.
Had turf wars with Terzo's Honchkrow. Had. It rules the roost now and lives amongst its pilfered trove of treasure. There is a new Don and he is followed by a family of Zubat, Golbat, and even Crobat to do his bidding. The Murkrow have since been kicked out.
Well, what else is a young lady meant to do with her free time, between matches, other than a little satanic necromancy?

Part 1: The proposition {I’ll release the next part after you start answering asks again}
[Set a bit Early and Raph's first trip of murder. enough to stew But he still has most of his basic functioning and has yet to get smashed]
___
The Handler has a proposition.
“Big Mama, I, formally request that my current charge - that is this current championship- can be allowed to be inside a kitchen in order to bake “
Big Mama pauses. These ‘requests’ have been becoming more frequent… And far more unconventional in regarding this particular charge… But well…. Being lenient in regards to that hardly ever actually matters as long as it improves the turtle boy’s matches …. Something that this bird is obviously going to connect it with (The now Handler never request something unless it's tied directly to their job. Something that they genuinely think would improve functionality, that's just how they operate. And that's what makes them so good at their job because that level of thinking and dedication is nearly impossible to find naturally.)
“Baking you say? “ the Spider Inquisites out loud
“Yes. You heard me correctly Miss Big Mama. Baking. It is something that people engage in when they are stressed and as a means to relieve stress... May I also request a private kitchen? I'll be sure to remove any and all knives beforehand.”
“Oh. I don't care if he gets a knife. It's more fun, however, it is a bit more dangerous for you and our staff though.... Ummm I am a bit on the fence… Perhaps a test run?... I get to try what he's baking.
“...I will be sure to leave the best piece for you.” They thought she would be needing some more convincing. Pleased that it seems to be working out and is just a little bit suspicious about it. (they dont want to tell their charge about this
They speedily discuss more -Since she is seemingly in a good mood- Such as when this little 'relaxing detour' can be scheduled so as to not conflict with any of the matches that he has to undergo Perhaps when he is supposed to be ‘asleep’?
“Wouldn't that be cutting into your sleep schedule?” She questions not sure
“I suppose it will” They don't even hesitate to answer.
“That lack of sleep might impair your capabilities as a Handler” she twirls around.
“ As you already know that my Charge ‘technically’ has been missing out on dozens of weeks of sleep. I'm sure I can manage cutting into my own schedule for one day.” (They wince deep inside mentally. They let the bitterness out. The anger that they should not have.)
‘Ooo~ what is?’ Big Mama is paying uncommon amounts of attention due to the oddities that her best handler is displaying from the typical formulaic Norm And continues to think.
‘That Bird's sleeping schedule is something they always seem to favor over. Stating that “Sleep is imperative for a job well done” Always forcing themselves to get the proper amount of sleep. Something to be of note but they always outperformed.’
“Huh... You are correct. You can go now. I approve of the kitchen time.” The spider dismisses them Glancing up from her lashes and plans.
‘....Tweety Bird is getting really invested in this one… I should probably check up on this… When I have the time of course. The two of them are the biggest Investments I have Ever had… Ever since….’
___
Raph gets to bake! (He's going to associate baking with the Nexus. Not in a terrible way, will probably make him think about the kindness his handler had shown him)
The Handler knows that their proposition is a risky move. If Big Mama thinks they have grown too attached there's a high chance that she'll assign them to someone else (and they know that the other handlers can be cruel if assigned to those who can't fight back). Luckily for both The Handler and Raph, Big Mama thinks that the attachment they have is interesting, and it shakes up the usual humdrum that the inner Nexus workings have.

2019 Top Games of the Week: Week 2
Guys, Week 2 really isn’t that good. We’ve got two high profile matchups and a bunch of nothing going on at the highest level. The G5 and FCS have some interesting games, but the P5 is relatively desolate.
The Top Ten Games of the Week
10. #21 Syracuse 1-0 (0-0) at Maryland 1-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
Fun stat: neither Syracuse or Maryland have given up a point yet. Obviously that’s gonna change. The Terrapins weren’t expected to do much this year, but they started things off on the right foot by victimizing poor Howard 79-0. They’ll face much stiffer resistance this weekend. The Orange are tasked with winning on the road for the second week in a row, though the Terps should prove to be a tougher test than Liberty. Yeah Week 2 isn’t great.
9. Army 1-0 at #7 Michigan 1-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
This one could get interesting. It probably won’t, but we can fantasize about Army running circles around big, tough Michigan for a while.
8. Arkansas 1-0 (0-0) at Ole Miss 0-1 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
The football gods have given us a crap-tastic schedule, so let’s start rolling in the dirt. Arkansas and Ole Miss have an early season date with destiny, with the winner temporarily getting out from under some serious pressure. The loser of this game is probably gonna go full meltdown for the rest of the year, and these fan bases are gonna light a fire under their coaches for failing to improve.
7 . Cincinnati 1-0 (0-0) at #5 Ohio State 1-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
A man can dream. Cincinnati has the opportunity (however small) to take down in-state juggernaut Ohio State. The Bearcats have one P5 scalp so far, but the Buckeyes are a much different beast than the Bruins.
6. California 1-0 (0-0) at #14 Washington 1-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
One of these teams is set out to avenge an embarrassing loss from the previous season, and it ain’t Cal. The Bears’ shocking upset of Washington last year fully dumped the conference champions on their butts and (temporarily) knocked them out of the Top 25 for the first time since 2015. I’m not sure it’ll play out that way this time. Cal’s defense didn’t look great against UC Davis so I don’t have super high hopes for the repeat attempt.
5. #25 Nebraska 1-0 (0-0) at Colorado 1-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
Hey, the CU-NU rivalry is back on, and both teams have a lot to prove. Week 1 wasn’t very kind to Nebraska and while they did win, the Cornhuskers’ uninspired performance against South Alabama is calling into question their bullish ranking. Colorado, meanwhile, pulled away from in-state rival Colorado State last week and could make an even bigger splash against a higher profile opponent. God, they should really play more often.
4. #23 Stanford 1-0 (0-0) at USC 1-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
Perhaps it’s a bit cruel putting this matchup all the way at #4 seeing as how both team’s starting QBs could be out, but it’s a rivalry and an important conference game. USC and Stanford both have very tough schedules coming up. It’s absolutely imperative to win this game to have any hope in their division races.
3. Miami FL 0-1 (0-0) at North Carolina 1-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
Hell, as far as I know this will decide the ACC Coastal. Miami wasn’t exactly outmuscled in their loss to Florida so the Hurricanes are definitely in the running to retake the crown. Meanwhile, North Carolina pulled off one of the more high profile upsets last week when they took down rival South Carolina in Charlotte. Let’s see how good the Tar Heels actually are, but before that, go watch Mack Brown’s heartwarming postgame interview. Mack’s back!
2. #12 Texas A&M 1-0 (0-0) at #1 Clemson 1-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
This is what we’re really interested in watching. Texas A&M nearly knocked Clemson out of the Playoff race early on last year, now the Aggies have to go to Death Valley to attempt the upset this time. This could very well be the Tigers’ toughest test of the season and it’s coming with a bit of concern over QB Trevor Laurence, who threw two picks last week in what should have been an even bigger blowout of Georgia Tech.
1. #6 LSU 1-0 (0-0) at #9 Texas 1-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
Oh yeah, we’ve got a top ten matchup. It’s a bit hard to tell if LSU or Texas is truly “back” anymore, or what that really means, but this game could do a whole lot to help us figure that out. The Tigers made huge strides last season but still can’t get over the hump by beating Alabama. The Longhorns were inconsistent but managed to score huge, high profile victories over Oklahoma and Georgia to make their case for being fully returned to the top ten pantheon. I can’t wait to see what happens in this oh-so-well-timed nonconference battle.
-
5 G5 Games of the Week
5. Minnesota 1-0 (0-0) at Fresno State 0-1 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
I’m convinced Fresno State would have beaten USC if the Bulldogs hadn’t allowed that unfortunate kick return touchdown. Fresno is still going to be one of the better G5s out West and they have a “golden” opportunity to claim a P5 win against the Gophers. Minnesota managed to stave off South Dakota State last week but a trip to the Central Valley is a much different proposition.
4. North Texas 1-0 (0-0) at SMU 1-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
The Safeway Bowl is going to be a big deal for both North Texas and SMU. The Mustangs are facing a difficult conference slate and need to pick up wins wherever possible. Meanwhile, North Texas is attempt to reassert themselves as C-USA favorites and could use the good press from beating their DFW rival in Dallas.
3. San Diego State 1-0 (0-0) at UCLA 0-1 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
I’m not sure how relevant San Diego State will be in 2019. On one hand the Aztecs have a pretty easy path to another West championship outside their date with Fresno. On the other hand, it looks as though the plug and play days where they relied on undersized running backs to push their way through opponents might be over. SDSU faces a high profile matchup and a trip to the Rose Bowl. UCLA might be mortal, but they still almost beat Cincinnati, even if that was somewhat luck assisted.
2. #18 UCF 1-0 (0-0) at FAU 0-1 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
Man, I wish this game happened in 2017. FAU is probably still in flux and shouldn’t win this game, but boy it would be fun to see the Owls make it close.
1. Marshall 1-0 (0-0) at #24 Boise State 1-0 (0-0) (Friday 9/6/19)
Oh hey, look at that, Boise is ranked again. It’s Conference USA mainstay vs Mountain West heavyweight in this out of conference clash. As far as I’m concerned this game owns Friday night because there’s nothing else worth watching on TV.
-
FCS Games of the Week
#6. #9 Kennesaw State 1-0 (0-0) at Kent State 0-1 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
I’m super surprised that the FCS only scored one measly win over the FBS last week. Here’s a good opportunity for another.
5. North Dakota 1-0 at #1 North Dakota State 1-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
The in-state rivalry between North Dakota and NDSU has smoldered for years while the two were in different conferences. Now, the Fighting Hawks and Bison will face off yearly once more. It doesn’t hurt that UND is probably getting better, but it also won’t help them this year either.
4. #17 Furman 1-0 (0-0) at Georgia State 1-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
Furman gets a transitive win over Tennessee if they pull this off.
3. #6 Maine 1-0 (0-0) at Georgia Southern 0-1 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
This one will be tough, but it’s one of the highest profile FCS-FBS games of the week.
2. #15 North Carolina A&T 1-0 (0-0) at Duke 0-1 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
The defending national champions make a trip to Durham in the only game in North Carolina involving a ranked team.
1. #12 Southeast Missouri State 1-0 (0-0) at #13 Montana State 0-1 (0-0) (Saturday 9/7/19)
Oh wow it’s an actual ranked FCS vs FCS bout. Both teams have a pretty good chance at making the Playoff so this is more what you should watch to see how the other half plays when it’s not a body bag game. It’s good football, I promise.

Ultimate Fighting Championship
Jiu jitsu is still highly effective as a sort of self-defense and in Mixed Martial Arts competition and is imperative for everyone who hopes to be a thriving martial arts fighter. Taekwondo is part of me. Thai Boxing can be found throughout Thailand in hundreds of stadiums and is currently gathering popularity around the world. As a consequence the very best and most well-known boxers frequently don't get an opportunity to fight each other. Boxing, kick-boxing, mat work, grapples throws, and needless to say martial arts are wholly thrown into the mix with each fighter seeking to acquire advantage with the addition of a new facets or facets to his repertoire. Cage style wrestling appears to be in vogue.
Fighters won't be in a position to submit their opponent if they're restricted by their gloves. MMA fighters will need to know aspects of several martial arts to be prosperous. Each fighter is anticipated to look after the protection of the other player. Even fighters that are predominantly strikers have a larger advantage and will put on less violent fights when they're highly skilled. Whether it truly is a fight depends upon how strictly you define the term fight. Felony fights are prearranged conflicts between a couple of men and women and are regarded as absolutely the most vicious fights you'll be able to see on the web, or purchase on a DVD.
There are various sorts of MMA gloves out there in the marketplace. Fight gloves arrive in various varieties that have amateur, pro and normal competition. Other forms of fight gloves arrive in a V-shaped design that permits the glove to stay tightly on your hands and offer a comfortable and secure fit.
There's a criteria to find out the best among all. Some rules are made to produce the fight more appealing fro spectators, and encourage the fighters to fight instead of shy away from one another. In the usa, additional rules are introduced into the sport because it's overseen in fashion much like boxing.
Mixed Martial Arts hasn't been popular earlier. Different martial arts are extremely much like that. Third Blended Martial Arts is a mixture of several schools struggling. As the sport began to grow, and so have the range of men and women in the sport, knowing only one style won't be sufficient to compete at that level. 파워볼사이트
You must be prepared to do your best and be in the very best possible form. Also you have to apply every facet of yourself into your performance. A more technical feature of the sport was promoted, highlighting the abilities and abilities of the fighters instead of the gruesome probability of critical injury or death. Whether you believe they'll find it's your decision, but, given the chance they do, now might be a great time to ask whether that's an entirely good thing. The primary difference between amateur and pro fight gloves is the sum of padding which is used. Do that, and you'll have a HUGE advantage. There's a good deal of skill involved with wrestling and that's the reason why I said they have the very same technical ability.

We need transparency: Lewis Hamilton tells F1 to be tough on budget cap
Lewis Hamilton has insisted the FIA must act decisively and with appropriate tough measure if any teams are found to have broken Formula One’s budget cap regulations. The seven-times champion said the integrity of the sport was at stake and pointedly noted how last season his Mercedes rivals Red Bull appeared to be spending heavily on upgrading their car. At last weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix unproven allegations emerged that Red Bull had exceeded the £114m budget cap set for 2021. The team strenuously denied that they had breached the budget with the FIA currently assessing all the teams’ financial submissions for compliance with the cap. On Wednesday they were due to announce their conclusions but instead issued a statement declaring that their judgment had yet to be reached and would be delayed until Monday. The FIA can impose punishments on teams found to be in breach of the rules, including a deduction of points or exclusion from the championship, either of which could impact the result of last year’s title race, narrowly won by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen over Hamilton. Speaking before this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix, the British driver said any team found guilty should be punished appropriately. “I think it’s imperative, honestly, just for transparency,” he said. “I think we need to continue to have transparency for the fans, for the integrity of the sport.” Hamilton also said the FIA’s delay in announcing their findings indicated that the governing body understood the import of the decision they were making., “I would like to think that if it’s been delayed it’s because it’s been taken very seriously” he said. “I trust that Mohammed [ben Sulayem, FIA president] is taking it seriously and will do what is right for the sport, I hope.” The Mercedes team principal, Toto Wolff, had been blunt in Singapore in expressing how he believed overspending on the budget could definitively make a difference in car performance. Hamilton took the fight with Verstappen to the wire last season, which was ultimately decided after the controversial Verstappen win in Abu Dhabi, where he took the title by just eight points. The season had ebbed and flowed between the two drivers and Hamilton observed how expensive he believed it was for Red Bull as they had continued to bring a raft of upgrades to their car. “I remember last year as a driver, you were always asking for updates, updates, updates on things, I remember in Silverstone when we got our last update and that was almost three-tenths and I’m pretty certain it cost less than a million,” he said. “But I remember after that needing more updates but then seeing updates continuing to arrive on the other car, thinking: ‘Jeez, it’s going to be hard to beat them in the championship if they keep bringing updates.’ “It’s so integral to development, the development race and if we had another half a million to spend we would have been in a different position at some of the following races.” Quick Guide How do I sign up for sport breaking news alerts? Show Download the Guardian app from the iOS App Store on iPhones or the Google Play store on Android phones by searching for 'The Guardian'. If you already have the Guardian app, make sure you’re on the most recent version. In the Guardian app, tap the yellow button at the bottom right, then go to Settings (the gear icon), then Notifications. Turn on sport notifications. When asked about the row over the cap at Suzuka Verstappen declined to make a comment on the situation. “To be honest, I’m not really busy with these kind of things,” he said. “It’s up to the teams and with the FIA and I just need to focus on the driving. There’s not much more to say on that. I guess we’ll find out on Monday.” Verstappen is in position to seal his second championship this weekend if he wins the race and his Ferrari rival Charles Leclerc finishes lower than second place. via Formula One | The Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/sport/formulaone

Akihiro Fujisawa Used Lockdown to Upgrade All Fighting Skills
Find out how you can watch ONE: NO SURRENDER II live in your home country on Friday, 14 August!
Japanese mixed martial arts star Akihiro “Superjap” Fujisawa didn’t let the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic hinder him from continuing to better his skills. The ONE Warrior Series graduate used his time in quarantine lockdown wisely, improving his physical fitness and working on his overall game.
As a result, Fujisawa has emerged a better fighter overall and is ready to soon test his skills when he resumes his career inside the ONE Championship Circle.
“Although the gym was closed, I was running, and I also did bodyweight training and shadowboxing. I was active,” said Fujisawa.
“It was good to take the time to review my strengths and weaknesses. I re-examined what I was not able to notice in my daily routine at the gym. I focused on moving as I imagined. I tried to build up physical strength.”
Fujisawa is scheduled to meet Thailand’s Pongsiri “The Smiling Assassin” Mitsatit in a three-round catchweight mixed martial arts contest at ONE: NO SURRENDER II, a closed-door, audience free event set for broadcast on Friday, 14 August in Bangkok, Thailand.
After having dropped his last three bouts, Fujisawa knows full well a victory here is imperative. He’s since worked diligently on not only advancing his overall skill set, but also making sure that he upgraded where necessary in order to stay ahead of the competition.
“If I want to win where all the top athletes from the world gather, I need to upgrade myself mentally and physically. My coach pointed out what I could not discover by myself and we worked together to correct that. I want to put into practice what I worked on last year,” said Fujisawa.
But before he can even think about facing the world’s best, Fujisawa first has to take care of Mitsatit, who poses a serious risk to his plans.
Mitsatit is an aggressive and powerful finisher, known for his highlight-reel finishes. “The Smiling Assassin” has 8 knockout victories to his name out of 10 wins overall. On any given night, Mitsatit can end matters quickly inside the Circle. If Fujisawa isn’t careful, he could end up on the wrong side of consciousness.
Fujisawa, however, is aware of his opponent’s strengths. As such, “Superjap” plans to take Mitsatit into deep waters and drown him in a sea of grappling.
“His background is Muay Thai, so I think he is good at striking. I think it is best to take him down, control the ground game, and submit him. If I cannot do that, I have various options. When it comes to mixed martial arts, I think I have more skills in my toolbox than him,” the Japanese veteran says.
“He might have a longer career in Muay Thai, but I’ve had a longer career in mixed martial arts. I began my martial arts training from mixed martial arts, and this is my 16th year.”
ONE: NO SURRENDER II is ONE Championship’s second event in Bangkok since resuming its flagship event schedule. The headline bout features a bantamweight Muay Thai showdown between former ONE World Title challenger Saemapetch Fairtex and countryman Rodlek PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym.
Fujisawa wants to use this opportunity to inspire fans from all over the world through these difficult times.
“I want to win in an impressive way so that I can carry on my journey to cheer up the world,” said Fujisawa.
“In Thailand, many people are stressed out due to the pandemic, including Japanese residents. I want to cheer those people up.”

I Was Blacklisted for Fighting Abuse in Gymnastics
[brightcove:5718816767001 default]
At age 14, Dominique Moceanu was part of the first U.S. women's gymnastics team to win Olympic gold in 1996, becoming the youngest Olympic gold medalist in U.S history. After years of abuse, she now advocates for the safety of athletes.
I love gymnastics with all my heart. It's a beautiful sport and has been part of my life as far back as I can remember. It's that very deep appreciation for the art of gymnastics and the athletes who perform it that drove me to do what was once considered a cardinal sin in my sport: Criticize it in public.
To clarify, it wasn't the sport of gymnastics itself that I criticized-it was the system and the people running it. About a decade ago, with the U.S. national women's team at the top of its game, and with the linchpins of gymnastics, Bela and Marta Karolyi-owners of the Texas ranch where the Olympic team trained-basking in public adulation, I chose to speak out about what was wrong. I knew that what I had to say was going to be unpopular with many, including my former coaches and fans of our sport. But I also knew that there were hundreds of young girls dreaming of Olympic gold who deserved to train in safe environments.
RELATED: Olympic Gymnast Aly Raisman Reveals Sexual Abuse By Team Doctor
Coming up through the system and being personally coached and trained by the Karolyis, I knew first-hand what a scary and unhealthy place the famed Karolyi Ranch could be. I knew what it was like to be grabbed by the scruff of my neck and dragged across the room by Marta. I knew what it was like to be so scared to ask to use the bathroom that I peed in my leotard in practice.
It was in this unhealthy environment that at the age of 14, while training for the 1996 Olympics, I was told to continue practicing through severe, nagging leg pain. As punishment for complaining, I was made to do my routine an increased number of repetitions, performing it over and over until I literally collapsed on the mat. Only then was I was given a closer look, leading to the discovery that I had been training on a fractured leg.
RELATED: Aly Raisman Had the Perfect Response to a Body-Shaming Airport Experience
With child athletes living at the ranch for weeks at a time without the supervision of their parents or any adults other than USA Gymnastics (USAG) employees, an atmosphere was created where verbal and emotional abuse became commonplace. I believe this, coupled with fear of retribution for saying anything negative about the Karolyis or their ilk, made abuse possible. It later came out that the ranch was the site where numerous young gymnasts were molested by team doctor Larry Nassar.
In 2006, after a career that included being part of the first U.S. Women's Gymnastics team to bring home gold and being the youngest gymnast to win a U.S. National Championship, I left the competitive gymnastics world. I was moving on, building a family life, working as a coach to young gymnasts. But I couldn't stomach the thought of these girls having to go through what I had experienced. With the support of my husband Mike and very few others, I made it a mission to warn people that the gymnastics system under USAG and the Karolyis was not safe.
RELATED: Olympic Gymnast McKayla Maroney Alleges Sexual Abuse by U.S. Team Doctor
So I spoke out-first to HBO. For the first time, in an interview in 2008, I didn't sugar coat anything. I shared my experiences and was honest. It was liberating and challenging at the same time. I was speaking my truth, which was tremendously rewarding, but I was also shunned, blacklisted, and criticized by the community I had been a part of for so long. Hate mail came-from former fans who didn't want to hear what I had to say and from high-ranking coaches in the system who accused me of stabbing gymnastics in the back.
To USAG, I became a non-person. I stopped receiving financial opportunities and referrals, I was no longer invited to speak at and attend many events, and very few athletes came to my defense or chose to corroborate what I had to say, even though they had seen what I had seen. It hurt, but I had made a decision and I stuck to my guns. I did more interviews. Then, in 2012, I released my memoir, Off Balance, where I went into greater detail about my experiences. The haters continued to hate, but I couldn't, I wouldn't, let them stop me. The safety of young gymnasts was too important. The neglectful and inhumane treatment they often received had gone on too long, and I promised I would never stop sharing my story with anyone who would listen.

I was fortunate in that I have never been sexually assaulted by Dr. Nassar, but when the first brave women came forward to tell me about having been horrifically abused by him, it was heartbreaking and gut-wrenching-though not surprising. The total lack of regard for athlete safety and wellbeing, the culture of fear, and the never-question-the-Karolyis-or-their-staff mentality created a perfect storm in which a monster like Nassar could thrive.
After all, he was one of the very few adults who was actually “nice” to us. (We've since learned that this is typical grooming behavior, to provide a false sense of security when so many other adults were being either neglectful or abusive: Be a friendly, sympathetic voice to build trust but not offer any actual help or assistance.) That Nassar could engage in his disgusting behavior unchecked for years, sexually assaulting hundreds of young girls, may sound impossible to most, but not to me. You don't speak out, you never complain, and nobody is looking out for you. How tragically easy.
Testifying about this warped culture before the Senate Judiciary Committee last year was one of the proudest moments of my life. I felt that after shouting in a vacuum for so long, I was finally being heard and actual change was being made. And with the passing of resulting legislation this year, we can now confidently say that future generations of children participating in sports will be safer. It's a vindication, but there is still much work to be done. While new standards and legislation are set, it is more imperative than ever that we work to protect athletes and provide safe environments for them. Weeding out the abusers, bad actors, and their enablers is a major part of that.
It hasn't been easy. But I learned long ago that being a champion of anything isn't easy. I'm honored to have had a voice, to have been able to help bring about positive change, and I know that better days are ahead. I am hopeful that we can now begin to develop safer practices for all youth sports, including the beautiful sport of gymnastics.

Comeback Complete: Tiger Woods Wins Tour Championship for 80th PGA Tour Victory
The comeback is complete: Tiger Woods is a winner once again.
Woods picked up his 80th career PGA Tour victory but first since 2013 on Sunday, shooting a one-over 71 to finish at 11 under and win the Tour Championship by two shots over Billy Horschel.
With the victory, Woods will finish second in the FedEx Cup standings behind world No. 1 Justin Rose, who birdied 18 to finish in a tie for fourth and win the $10 million Cup grand prize. Woods will receive $3 million for second place in the season-long points race.
The win puts an exclamation point on what has been a remarkable comeback from Woods, who had spinal fusion surgery last April and was arrested for DUI with five drugs in his system one month later. Roughly this time last year, Woods said at the Presidents Cup that he wasn’t sure if he’d ever compete on Tour again. Now he has picked up a win in the final event of the season and will move into the top 15 in the world rankings on Monday.
“I had a hard time not crying on the last hole,” Woods said after the round.
HE'S DONE IT!

“I just can’t believe I pulled this off,” he said while fighting back tears at the trophy ceremony. “It’s been tough. Not so easy the last couple years. I’ve worked my way back, and I couldn’t have done it without the help of everyone around me.”
Woods started the day with a three-shot lead over Rose and Rory McIlroy, the latter of whom fell out of contention while playing alongside Woods on Sunday. He birdied the first hole and pushed his lead to five on the front nine by finding fairways and greens and shooting a one-under 34 on the front nine.
After a birdie on 13, Woods had a five-shot lead with just five to play, but he would bogey 15 and 16, and his advantage shrunk to two. Woods got up-and-down for par on 17 to preserve the two-shot lead coming to the par-5 18th, and the win was virtually clinched when he smashed a drive right down the center at the finishing hole.
As he walked up the green after knocking his second into a greenside bunker, scores of fans followed right behind him in an iconic spectacle.
Woods then blasted out to six feet and two-putted to seal his first win in 1,876 days. He paused for a moment after sinking the final putt before raising his arms in triumph.
Below is a hole-by-hole recap of the round, including highlights and analysis.
HOLE 18, PAR 5 – PAR, +1 FOR DAY, -11 FOR TOURNAMENT
Woods is a winner again! He split the fairway with his drive and let out a big smile after that. He would knock his second into a greenside bunker, blasted out to six feet and two-putted for the win.
HOLE 17, PAR 4 – PAR, +1 FOR DAY, -11 FOR TOURNAMENT
Absolutely massive par save. Tiger missed left with a 3-wood again and hacked a wedge over the green. He was fortunate to find some trampled-down rough and played a nice chip to about four feet. Dead-center with the par effort and he’ll head to 18 needing a bogey or better for the win.
HOLE 16, PAR 4 – BOGEY, +1 FOR DAY, -11 FOR TOURNAMENT
Well, this is getting more interesting than Woods would like. He tugged a 3-wood into thick rough and opted to hack it out with a wedge and try to make par the hard way. His third was on line but landed long and was fortunate to spin back out of the thick stuff onto the fringe. His par effort wouldn’t go and it’s his second straight bogey, and now the lead is down to two with two to play.
HOLE 15, PAR 3 – BOGEY, E FOR DAY, -12 FOR TOURNAMENT
Really lucky not to find the water, as he missed short and right of the par 3. That could have been wet for the same price. He drew a good lie in the rough, however, and was able to play a bump-and-run to about nine feet. Couldn’t get the par putt to fall and the lead is down to three, as Billy Horschel has posted nine under.
HOLE 14, PAR 4 – PAR, -1 FOR DAY, -13 FOR TOURNAMENT
The 14th is the longest par 4 on the course at roughly 530 yards, so it’s absolutely imperative to hit the fairway if you’re going to make par. Woods did exactly that, peeling a cut that found the right side of the short grass. From there he hit a laser long iron to about 15 feet before the putt went begging by on the left side. Stress-free pars will suffice right now.
HOLE 13, PAR 4 – BIRDIE, -1 FOR DAY, -13 FOR TOURNAMENT
A textbook birdie: driver down the center, wedge to 13 feet and a putt right in the middle of the cup. The lead is now back up to five—Billy Horschel is in second at eight under—and this tournament is very much his to lose.
HOLE 12, PAR 4 – PAR, E FOR DAY, -12 FOR TOURNAMENT
Tiger found the fairway with a cut 3-wood and hit a nice wedge to about eight feet, but the birdie effort wasn’t his best. It was left to right and he didn’t give it enough pace, missing on the low side.
It’s a bit of a missed opportunity, but six more pars will mean win No. 80.
HOLE 11, PAR 3 – PAR, E FOR DAY, -12 FOR TOURNAMENT
Just what he needed after the first bogey of the day. A really solid mid-iron into the middle of the par 3 green, which left a speedy putt down the hill. The birdie putt was left the whole way and rolled out to about three feet, but he brushed that in without incident. The lead is back to five after a Rose bogey.
HOLE 10, PAR 4 – BOGEY, E FOR DAY, -12 FOR TOURNAMENT
First bogey of the day comes after a wayward right drive forced Tiger to punch out with his second. The punch out rolled out a bit too far into the first cut and he didn’t judge the distance well on his third from 77 yards, hitting it 25 feet past the hole. Two putts from there and it’s his first dropped shot, and the lead is trimmed to four.
HOLE 9, PAR 3 – PAR, -1 FOR DAY, -13 FOR TOURNAMENT
Tiger hit a long-iron to the middle of the green on this 235-yard par 3. He liked that one and picked up the tee early. A nice effort from 35 feet rolls out to tap-in range, and that’s now eight straight pars after the opening birdie. His lead, which was three at the beginning of the day, is now 5. Nine more holes to go…
HOLE 8, PAR 4 – PAR, -1 FOR DAY, -13 FOR TOURNAMENT
There’s water all along the left side of 8, so it’s no surprise that Tiger bailed out right into a fairway bunker. He was able to get his second onto the front portion of the green and two putted from abouot 50 feet to keep the round bogey-free. Onward…
HOLE 7, PAR 4 – PAR, -1 FOR DAY, -13 FOR TOURNAMENT
Tiger continues to find fairways—he’s hit five of the first six—and hit an approach right at the flag, but it rolled out to about 20 feet past the hole. Another birdie effort that looked on line but finished about a foot short for another stress-free par.
Through seven holes, he’s been solid as can be: hitting fairways and greens and avoiding bogeys. Perfect gameplan when you have a big lead like this. It’s almost like he’s done this before…
HOLE 6, PAR 5 – PAR, -1 FOR DAY, -13 FOR TOURNAMENT
Bit of a missed opportunity, especially after Tiger ripped one down the middle and had just 215 into the par 5. He pulled his second shot significantly, as he was aiming toward the center of the green but hit a smother hook long and a bit left of the flag. It nestled way down in rough and he basically chunked his third, leaving it on the fringe. He left his long birdie effort short and did well to hole a four-footer for par.
Pars aren’t going to hurt Tiger too much right now—his lead is still five—but he’d be the first to tell you that he’d expect himself to make birdie from where he was off the tee.
HOLE 5, PAR 4 – PAR, -1 FOR DAY, -13 FOR TOURNAMENT
Tiger spoke after yesterday’s round about how the rest of the field would have to come chase him, and that he could make it very difficult for them by keeping a clean card. He’s doing exactly that, finding yet another fairway and giving himself a good luck at birdie after hitting wedge to about 15 feet. The putt had a chance but missed just barely to the left, prompting a reaction of surprise. Another par with a par 5 coming up next.
HOLE 4, PAR 4 – PAR, -1 FOR DAY, -13 FOR TOURNAMENT
Important par save after he missed the fairway to the right, drawing a gnarly lie in the Bermuda rough. He tried to muscle an iron from 170ish to the green but it came out dead, finding a bunker short and right of the green. It was about a 30-yard bunker shot and he splashed out to about 10 feet, then made his par effort after McIlroy missed a par putt of similar length. Really good save.
His lead remains four over Justin Rose, but he now holds a five-shot advantage over McIlroy.
HOLE 3, PAR 4 – PAR, -1 FOR DAY, -13 FOR TOURNAMENT
Tiger went with iron off the tee to play for position and executed it perfectly, finding the center of the short grass. From about 125 he went with sand wedge, flying it right over a front pin to about 20 feet. The pin was tucked right over a bunker, and both Woods and McIlroy played conservatively past the pin. It left a huge left-to-right breaker for birdie—like, 10 feet of break—and it ran out of steam short of the hole. No issues with the par putt and it’s a one-under start after three holes.
HOLE 2, PAR 3 – PAR, -1 FOR DAY, -13 FOR TOURNAMENT
Iron to the center of the green on this 200-yard par 4, leaving about 40 feet for birdie. The putt was on line but finished a few rolls short, leaving a stress-free tap-in for par.
HOLE 1, PAR 4 – BIRDIE, -1 FOR DAY, -13 FOR TOURNAMENT
Ideal start. Tiger went with driver off the tee and picked up the tee really quickly as it was right down the center. His approach was right at the flag and finished just 10 feet from the hole. He walked in the birdie effort. Couple the birdie with McIlroy’s par and Tiger’s lead is now four.
Couldn’t have asked for a better start.

Cannabis for Fitness
This is your brain on pot:
But can weed really deliver all the fitness benefits of a nutritious, protein-packed fried egg?
If you ask most people, they’ll likely define the common stoner as a lazy, unmotivated heap sprawled out on a couch with a bag of chips and a 7-Eleven Slurpee. But if you ask scientists, you get quite a different picture.
Smoking Weed and Working Out:
Contrary to popular belief, marijuana users actually have an affinity for fitness. In fact, researchers at the University of Colorado in Boulder discovered that 80% of marijuana users in weed-legal states reported consuming cannabis shortly before or after exercise, and more than half consumed cannabis both before and after working out.
Okay, well these are just chronic stoners, not fitness gods, right? Wrong. A recent 2020 study found that about 25% of elite athletes used some form of cannabis in the past year.
Additionally, scientists have found that over half of research participants who incorporated cannabis into their exercise regimens reported increased motivation, while a vast majority said it increased enjoyability and improved their recovery.
There’s plenty of hard evidence to suggest that incorporating cannabis into your routine could benefit your beach bod. For example, research done by Maksud and Baron in the 1980s found that cannabis users were likely to have less fat than non-users.
Those who consumed marijuana had significantly lower BMI and body fat, a common observation found in most similar studies. That means that people who use cannabis are more likely to be in better physical shape than those who don’t!
There certainly seems to be more than meets the eye when it comes to the cannabis-fitness combination. People who smoke marijuana don't seem to meet the couch potato stigma that they are often associated with. But how does one maximize the benefits of cannabis in their workout?
Should I smoke weed before my workout?
It may seem counterintuitive to consume marijuana in your pre-workout ritual, however, there are many gym rats who would disagree.
Plenty of people believe that cannabis can positively impact focus and “flow” during a workout, as is shown in a recent 2018 study where 77% of participants felt that their performance at the gym was enhanced by marijuana when using it before or in the midst of their workout.
Stress and anxieties can be a burden on your fitness routine, and marijuana is a proven anti-anxiety tool.
Is that beautiful woman on the glute machine staring at you? Is that jacked dude judging your arm-curl form? Using weed before the gym might help quell these anxieties so you can simply focus on yourself and get in the zone.
Cannabis consumption is not an ideal pre-workout ritual for everyone though. Before a championship game or a marathon might not be the best time to smoke pot. According to experts, this could make for an unsafe situation since weed can have a tendency to impair mental and motor abilities, especially if you are attempting a new type of workout, or an especially challenging one.
However, since cannabis is tried and true when it comes to pain control, experts and medical doctors alike say smoking weed can positively impact your low-key training days.
Similar to a runner’s high, marijuana can improve an athlete’s endurance and numb their aches when used before or during their training sessions.
Cannabinoids work to heighten fitness in various ways, but mainly by releasing endorphins, which is exactly what happens during a runner’s high. Cannabis also works to counteract conditions like back pain or chronic knee pain so that an athlete can work out longer and happier.
But isn’t smoking detrimental to the lungs?
After all, oxygen is an imperative component of fitness. The science says that marijuana isn’t much of a factor when it comes to breathing easily in a workout.
Some of the best predictors of athleticism include oxygen uptake, carbon dioxide output, heart rate, and minute ventilation.
A 1986 study compared cannabis users with non-users and found that there was virtually no difference in all of these categories between the groups, even when the participants were exercising at peak performance.
So smoking marijuana before your workout can be an effective way to increase enjoyment without harming your heart and lungs.
Should I smoke weed after my workout?
Although there is plenty of anecdotal praise when it comes to using weed before working out, a quick skim of Reddit and other popular forums lead to a common consensus: “Never before, frequently after.”
Athletes who were surveyed across a variety of studies overwhelmingly touted the benefits of including cannabis in their post-workout rituals, namely pain reduction, sleep aid effects, and overall calming.
When it came to using pot before physical activity, there were substantially fewer endorsements as athletes usually felt that pot might decrease motivation and impede performance.
Who doesn’t like to reward themselves for dominating a session at the gym? Smoking a joint can be an ideal way to pat yourself on the back after a challenging workout.
Not only do the effects of cannabis become stronger after physical activity, but marijuana can also be a fantastic aid for post-workout recovery. Research is increasingly pointing to marijuana as an ideal tool to improve important factors in recovery like inflammation and appetite.
The most common use for cannabis in the fitness world is pain-management. Take UFC fighter Nate Diaz who made headlines when he vaped CBD after a fight with Conor McGregor that left him bloodied and bruised saying, it “helps with the healing process and inflammation and stuff like that.”
In fact, CBD, a chemical in the cannabis plant, is getting so popular among athletes that the World Anti-Doping Agency recently removed the chemical from its list of banned substances.
Being one of the most popular cannabinoids, and a legal one at that, CBD is widely used and respected in the fitness world.
But CBD is just one of many components of cannabis, and being such a dynamic plant with hundreds of potentially biologically active chemicals, there can be a variety of effects that can either help or hurt physical activity.
Conclusion: Is weed good for working out?
There is much more research to be done to define the best elements of marijuana to use for a workout, including the many effects of various combinations of cannabinoids like THC and CBD, which show great promise.
Just keep in mind that even if one cannabis product doesn’t improve your workout or recovery, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a type of strain or edible that can deliver the effects you want to become a better athlete.
And with no chemically addictive properties, no hangover, and increasing accessibility, cannabis products are quickly becoming preferable to drugs like opioids and benzodiazepines which can easily impede a fitness routine.
As opposed to putting harmful lab-made drugs into their bodies, many fitness aficionados are increasingly turning to cannabis as a natural alternative.
Whether you’re seeking better results in the gym, faster and improved recovery, or simply need some motivation to get back in shape, adding cannabis into your workout routine could very well be the boost you need to take your training to the next level.
Enjoy your workout, and enjoy your weed too!
