EA's leaves are kind of dull, and I personally think TNW's are too bright, so here's my spin on a leaf default + a new mod :-D

Leaf variety mod

There are 4 different leaf textures in the game files but only one is used. I talked with @shastakiss some years(?) ago and she mentioned an unfinished mod Neder started working on to make the leaf use different textures. Unfortunately, Neder couldn't get it to work. Shasta kindly sent me said mod and I handed it over to @lamare-sims last year who of course managed to fix it (thank you so much once again, you're a legend!!)

Note #1: worth mentioning, this mod will only affect leaves that spawn after you've installed the mod! the same goes for my mesh fix included in the default below. Note #2: if you already have this mod in you dl-folder, delete that file and use the one from this download if you're planning on using my default (otherwise my uv-map and texture edit will not work).

Defaults

Replaces all 4 leaf-textures with new, more colorful and less blocky textures. I also edited the "effect"-textures of single leaves (the ones falling from the trees). This default can be used without the mod mentioned above, but then only the "original" texture will be used - see second image.

The leaves that spawns under the tree (the one sims can't rake), it was impossible to make it look good with any of the four textures, so I re-mapped it and gave it it's own texture (256x256px). There's also an optional default for the rake included, I edited a tiny error in the mesh and gave it a texture makeover. I made a separate LOD90-default for the leafpile (meaning: the mesh in neighborhood view) and instead of replacing the textures I repo'd them, meaning that the LOD90 default works with any leaf texture default you might use (it will only be showing one texture in neighborhood view).

Texture sizes are all the same as EA's:

Leaves: 512x512px x4 (my default +1: 256x256px)

Rake: 128x256px

Leaf effects: 32x32px x3

I edited Sophie-David's leaf pile pet bed (the mesh) and repo'd it to leafpile_txtr, meaning the mesh will now pick up my default (or any other default you might have for leafpile_txtr, and if none - EA's original texture). The mesh now needs seasons + pets, since it's repo'd. Their recolors are not included, so be sure to download them from the link above if you want them and replace their mesh with mine!

I also edited Shakeshaft's leaf cover mesh (warning T$R) , I repo'd it to one of the leaf textures and made recolors - also repo'd - to the rest of the textures. This mesh and recs now need seasons, this also means that the mesh and recolors* can be used without my default.

*with the exception of rc4, which is repo'd to my custom leaf texture, found in my leaf default.

Recommended mod

I recommend simler90's Gardening Rake Leaf Pile Mod or jfade's leaf pile fix (I have no idea what the difference between those two mods are, they edit the same thing so choose one of them).

Nothing in this download is dependent on each other* so feel free to pick and choose what you want :-) remember you can only have one default for the leaves, meaning that if you have any other default (1, 2, 3, 4) or Shakeshaft's/Sophie-David's original meshes, make sure you remove them before installing my files. Everything has been compressed to reduce file size, as usual. Do let me know if I messed up anywhere!

Eddie took the brief opening to land a jab on Tommy's shoulder.

"Just - how did you know?"

Standing up fully out of his defensive stance, Tommy tilted his head. A droplet of sweat rolled down from his hairline, streaking dangerously close to his eye.

"Um, I just did, I don't know."

"Oh," Eddie frowned, relaxing his stance as well.

He evaded Tommy's attempts to make eye contact, stalking over to the bench for his water bottle.

"Eddie, what's this about?"

Still avoiding his eye, Eddie shrugged.

"I was just thinking about it," he said, lifting his bottle for a drink.

"You were thinking about me being gay?"

Eddie coughed and sputtered, water spilling down his chin, Tommy patting him on the back apologetically.

I was thinking back to the post I made about ebooks being so much more accessible for so many people compared to paperbacks/hardbacks and the other thing I wanted to add is the vast, vast majority of the time, the author gets so much more profit comparatively for an ebook than a paperback/hardback.

That's not a problem for huge huge huge authors either way, but for small-time authors, or authors with small publishing houses, the difference in profits can sometimes be $2.00 or $3.00 per ebook sold vs. $0.50c or $1.00 per paperback. Really. You pay more, but the author gets a lot less.

In the case of indie authors like myself, ebooks give the highest returns always.

This isn't necessarily something most readers think about, but I have had readers assume that because the book format cost them more, that automatically means more goes to the author. In fact it's often the opposite. There are very few exceptions (university texts come to mind). But in the case of your run-of-the-mill indie fiction, if you genuinely want the most profit to go to the author, get the ebook.

I think the reason I love Agatha All Along is because it feels like a comic series I'd read in my comics nerd phase like Loki: Agent of Asguard.

Maybe it's the vibes? Maybe it's because I'm a Billy Stan so I'm always going to see him as his comic self? Or maybe something else?

But if Marvel released a comic adaption of this series I think it'd fit right in!

I've seen people complain that they want to read fanfiction but all they find is smut. On the other hand, I've noticed as a writer that writing angst, fluff or hurt/comfort gets way less attention from readers but when you write smut, it gets reblogged more often.

I love writing all kinds of fics but I've felt almost this type of pressure to write smut because it feels like that's what people want to read the most nowadays. And obviously, as a writer, I want to write stuff that people will read and interact with, right?

Then I've seen posts about readers wanting more non-smut fanfiction, while also seeing fluff fics (for example) getting like 9 notes and barely any reblogs.

I just miss when just a few years ago all kinds of fics seemed to thrive and there was so much more life in fandoms. It just feels so different nowadays, especially with how quickly fics get buried under other posts as well and forgotten about.

The "MACV-SOG" Watch

This arrived while I was away, a Seiko SNK381K1. I took off its metal bracelet and attached it to this Waltham wrist compass that I had in the LRRP collection.

I'm reasonably satisfied with it as an approximation of one of the models of Seiko 5 that SF guys reputedly wore in Vietnam, but it is not perfect. This image (which I lifted from this video) compares the SNK381K1 with two Seiko 5 models used in Vietnam

So you can see the numerals' font isn't quite right, the hands are the wrong shape, the case is a bit off, and the day shows white on black instead of black on white. Furthermore, the days on the model I got show in English and Arabic; English and Japanese would be better.

Apparently there is another Seiko out there with a case and hands that match the '60s watches more closely (the SNXS79), and enterprising individuals will combine the face and mechanism of the SNK381 with the case and hands from the SNXS79. One can also swap out the day wheel. They make all this sound easy, but I'm not sure I have all that in me.

We don't really draw femme characters to begin with because it doesn't bring us much joy? Hard to explain but we draw based on what brings us joy and have only really drawn a femme OC of ours, Hatsune Miku, along with some friends OCs.

Making it clear that I don't hate women here btw. I couldn't call myself an anarchist if I did; I am just MLM/gay so I just don't enjoy drawing het/straight focused work- I'm like the opposite of WLW/lesbian artists who only draw women be they prefer to draw women, if that makes sense.
