Thinking about AJR’s Burn the House Down again and how it relates to Ace Attorney 4. Specifically the lyrics and these lyrics in particular: “Watch me stand in the line, You're only serving lies, You've got something to hide” I don’t know but it gives me Apollo figuring out that Kristoph is not who he seems vibes and it gives me Phoenix pointing out that Kristoph is shady vibes. I want to make an art piece based around these lyrics for Ace Attorney 4. Ohhhh I love this song so much. The vibe is so tasty. This song suits the way Emily has dealt with the majority of her relationships - she's been the one to break up, saying she needs time to herself; that she's not the right person for the other; just generally she's always the one to break it off because she doesn't believe in the relationship anymore. She's not proud of it per se - if anything, she craves a loving relationship. It's just that the ones she's had made her feel like she couldn't breathe. (Of course all of this changes with Beca 😌)

Rahat Burn The House Down by AJR

why DID I add this to his playlist Rahat has a lot of trouble with his identity and once he's clean all of that will come catch up with him at the speed of light. I like how many questions are asked in these lyrics. He's always been the guy to do whatever his friends ask him to, and considering the kinds of friends these were, he's done plenty of stuff that a law abiding citizen would not. I like that this song presents the you-person as a liar because I do imagine these friends have lied to him plenty, and as he's finding his own identitiy, he becomes more aware of what he thinks of that, if that makes sense.

I like the vulnerability in this song. Anna is someone who lives by her feelings and she's got a LOT of 'em. It's important for her to remember (and she'd remind others of this constantly!) that it's a good thing to feel so much. We DO have hearts that bleed and maybe we ARE better off having tears so we can weep. I don't have much else to say about it I'm afraid fhjfgf It's a pretty straightforward analysis.

Okay well part of this is that Sara likes bad girls FDHJGFHJ leather jackets & teasing,,, There's just something about a rulebreaker that draws her in even though she herself follows any rule ever given to her. I think I put this song in here more for the vibes and maybe the feeling that she's lost connection with herself? I might be bullshitting this rn but when I think of her asking 'where did you go' I think more about her inner child as she had to act like a grownup at a very young age because of her upbringing and her mother's disability. DFJHF I know this is like a post-breakup song but for Katy (who is just 16yo) I picked this one because of its unabashed confidence!! Teens do be feeling like nothing can get them down sometimes. She also does have a tendency to think she doesn't need anyone else, partially because finding out she was adopted (single dad) was not the best experience for her. So she says screw it!! I'm cool enough anyway on my own. ✌️

Gabriella The Killing Kind by Marianas Trench

Oh I am SO PLEASED Marianas Trench made it in here hehe. This song gives me super vivid visuals of Gabriella breaking out of the shack she was being held captive in. For context, she's a mutant (like a lot of my OCs FHDJF but it's not always as relevant) and was taken hostage by a group of people who want to eradicate them and she got tortured for information for decades. Gabriella's power is airokinesis, and when a tornado hits the shack, it gives her an incredible powersurge. She uses the wind to break free and take down her captors. And yes, that does include some killing :)

Oh yeah plenty of them tbh lol

My hottest take? Honestly? I’m super disappointed in how cruel people were to people with Tech Lives theories on this damn site. Not just in the way that I’m sad about *gestures to everything* but I have seen some really nasty takes and have blocked people over them even though they were never directed at me. It shows me who you are when you’re cruel to a stranger over simply *checking my notes* wanting their favorite character to be alive. Some people in the Star Wars fandom are mean as hell. Maybe it’s because I’m fandom old (mid 20s) so I’ve been around for over a decade in fandom spaces but I can say that Star Wars fans can be really really mean compared to other fandoms. That’s more of a problem on reddit (never again) but it happens on tumblr and twitter (which I don’t have any longer but have heard… stories.) My little corner is GREAT. No complaints about this little corner I’ve found myself in but every time I venture out I see some shiiiiiiiiit and it takes me a minute to remember that this fandom can be really volatile. This is supposed to be fun. I say my piece, I agree or disagree with other people’s piece. Then I move on. I won’t argue. It ain’t my style. I get really upset when I see people being downright nasty to each other over fandom stuff. Stop it.

Also. Listen. I started in the Teen Wolf and Merlin fandoms in high school. There’s a lot of great stuff to use from those shows but canon was rarely awesome. I got used to letting the fandom do the work, fans shipping everything under the sun, and making up wild plotlines that wouldn’t actually make sense because who even knows what’s going on in the actual show anymore. Fandoms are wild and I like different opinions and different content and everything coming together in a way that is both weird and wonderful. Sometimes people want the entire fandom to like exactly what they like and get really aggressive with other fans over it. That is not my vibe. If I see something I don’t like then it isn’t for me and I move on! Enough said.

Instead of moving on, blocking tags, or blocking users many fans straight up call people names! Start arguments! Post cruel things! It’s stupid! I’ll say it, it’s stupid as hell! Just block shit, man! You can’t control other people. Protect your peace and block stuff you don’t like. I promise it’ll feel better <3

Omega and Leia Organa! I loved the Kenobi show and I just think these two would get along SO DAMN WELL.

Hunter and…. I’m going to be honest I thought about this over night and I STILL can’t pick somebody. I need to watch more Star Wars

Tech and Luke Skywalker. Flying! Ships! Podracing! This is the only thing I know of Luke Skywalker! They’d bond over this and make ships go faster together so they’d be besties.

Crosshair and Merrin. In the way that I think he’d look at her like she hung the moon and the stars because she’s so cool and she’s scary and Crosshair appreciates intimidating people and would want to see all of the things she can do with her magic even though he’s kind of terrified of her. (I’m projecting, I love Merrin.)

Echo and Cal Kestis. This is an inspired choice, I feel. Cal has a really big connection to protecting people and Echo WOULD LOVE to work with him to protect people from the Empire (play Jedi: Fallen Order 👀)

Wrecker and Chewbacca. Wrecker really thrived in that episode with the wookiees and I think he’d have a great time with Chewbacca.

49. What has been your favorite part about being in the fandom?

All of my friends!!! I’ve made a lot of great friends in the past two years and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It’s not very easy for me to make friends, if I’m being honest, so having friends that I talk to about the clones and star wars and fic ideas means a lot to me. It is the ultimate draw for me. I love talking to people about things I love, hearing everyone’s opinions, seeing everyone write and create art and do deep dive analysis. I love seeing people run role play blogs and come up with ask games. I love love love the fun parts of fandom just existing. Seeing people get excited about ideas and share them with others and create gifs and have fun. That absolutely has my heart. We’re all just here trying to express ourselves and that is something I think gets overlooked sometimes. This is something we do in our free time. We’re here because we want to be, not because we have to be. It’s a beautiful thing, to find connection over a shared love of something, and I love that. It’s kind of the same thing I love about concerts. Concerts are a unique place where it’s acceptable to have big emotional reactions with other people over the shared love of the music being played for you. For one night you aren’t just a fan of a band standing in a room listening to some people sing at you. You’re a part of the crowd, experiencing a million different emotions all in the same moment but not one of you is feeling the exact same way as the person next to you. It’s a wonderful thing to experience. This fandom, my little corner of it at least, feels about the same. We’re all experiencing life differently, different day to day things, different upbringings, different opinions, likes, and dislikes. But we’re all here, watching the same thing, and coming away with different emotions and opinions.

I think that’s beautiful.

Super happy and excited that it sounds like your enjoying the small bits of lmk so far!! When I first got into this show I got immediately hooked- I'd be even more curious to hear your little journey watching this, like more thoughts/any hc's or like you mentioned, possible fanfic ideas? :3c

I'mma be real most of the stuff I do know is from s3. Specifically Mei's Samadhi Fire and her training with Red Son. Also she yells at Wukong at one point? I have exactly ZERO context for it but it has given me fic ideas!

Specifically of Mei still dealing with the aftereffects of her big blowout with Sun Wukong (which might be dealt with in canon, idk!) and Wukong being distant with her bc, well, she was right. Mei heads out one night to blow off some steam and Red Son shows up bc he saw the fire and was like "oooh what are we destroying tonight". He convinces Mei to leave her less than healthy coping mechanisms behind and they go to a kid-appropriate club (now that I'm watching this weather club episode, probably there!) and they dance (basically The Dancing Dragons from Avatar) and Red Son casually explains that he can feel when her fire activates from his own leftover vibes with it. I'm specifically thinking of a bit like:

"Oh," Mei says, twirling. The Samadhi Fire had always burnt hot inside her. It was like a constant source of heartburn, eating away at her chest and throat. "Does it... hurt?"

Red Son scoffed. "Hurt? Please. You forget I'm built of fire, Dragon Girl." He sobered a moment, voice almost soft. "I imagine it's very different for you. The fire was made to burn you apart and cause the world to fall to its knees. But to me..."

They clap their hands together side by side like swords clashing, bits of fire escaping their fingers. Red Son was... smiling?

"To me, it feels like home," he finished.

Wukong eventually tries to break up the party because he's on over-alert mode and he's not sure what to make of Red Son. Sure, the kid is usually just a fun distraction, but coupled with Mei's mental state he's worried about the boy forcing her to do something. Mei almost kicks his ass but Red Son stops her (mostly because he likes the club and doesn't want it obliterated). Mei stomps off and Sun Wukong watches pillars of fire burst upwards in the distance.

Red Son is like "you want my advice?" and before Wukong can be like gross, no, never, he goes on. "Stop treating her like a villain, or she'll end up as one. The reason she comes to me is because I treat her the same as I always have- an obnoxious brat I'm stuck with."

And then Mei and Wukong hash it out lol.

(Fun fact the whole thing would be set against "Burn the Whole House Down" by AJR bc Red Son gives me those vibes)

the urge to make a new nancy wheeler playlist with solely ajr on it is strong

here are some ajr songs i would include that are not off neotheater:

The Green and the Town: this song gives me big "nancy wheeler forming a bond w the other ppl who know about the UD and learning to care about them so fiercely" vibes. because at her core, nancy cares so so much about these people

Burn The House Down: nancy wheeler would fist fight the entire government if given half a chance, especially in seasons two and three

Normal: again, nancy's struggles with feeling so isolated from everyone after losing barb. the drunken halloween fight she has with steve comes to mind here

Humpty Dumpty: similar reasons for Normal and Karma to be on the playlist. nancy cannot go back to who she was pre-UD, but she can't exactly cope with who she is now. she's a badass and a gun slinger, but she never wanted to be either of those things

there's a mashup of "Humpty Dumpty + Burn The House Down" which are both songs by AJR and it's SO GOOD - i've only listened to Humpty Dumpty on its own and have yet to listen to burn the house down but the both of them together are *chefs kiss* all of my love it's so nice

also an AJR mashup - "I Won't + Birthday Party" - i like this even more than the last one they're SO nice together

and one more cause my slip n slide of a brain keeps. forgetting and remembering things - "Bang! (Acoustic) + The DJ Is Crying For Help". all three of the mashups are so nice, all six songs are by AJR this is AJR propaganda u should listen to all of their music yes yes

"Celestial" by Ed Sheeran plays over the credits of the newest pokemon game and It Makes Me Feel So Many Things it's such a good adventure song

Owl City has some good stuff too - Fireflies is the most famous i think but "Vanilla Twilight" reminds me of Sundew and Willow (from wof) and "To The Sky" is catchy and was my adhd hyperfix song two songs ago (before hey lover and celestial) and "Hot Air Balloon" has a similar energy to to the sky

oh! you've probably seen them but Mark of Two on youtube has super pretty piano covers of zelda songs :3 i love their astral observatory cover. all of them are good. all of them have made me cry.

last one before i just dump my entire spotify playlist on u: "Guess I'm Grown Now" is an album by Stephen Day and u should listen to all of it but if u don't have time (or don't want to which is totally fair) then at least listen to "Dancing In The Street" and "All Because of You" cause they're my favorites

I put them all in a playlist and listened to it with other songs I wanted to listen to (except the Humpty Dumpty mashup I don't think my brain vibed with it very much) and the verdict is: good playlist!

I put Sweet Tooth on loop at the same time I read a long Johnlock fic so now it's uh a Johnlock song though. But I love making memories like that so it's fine. I have GOT to listen to more Stephen Day those two songs were incredible. That said I kept hearing "I'm in hell, and" instead of "I'm in heaven" for All because of you so it gave a different vibe to the song :')))
