yeah... i caved and gave her a tail... I'm Not Sorry! it's cute! i wanted to stick with her sorta flower motif - it's stronger in her princess look, since I imagine that when she was part of the royals she was very blatantly flower power based. it was her Thing!

but a Julie free of her noble shackles... she deserves her big sword. like yeah, she has flower magic, but who needs it when she has a Giant Blade??? on the royalty vein, and if we're classifying "rainbow monster" as a species, i feel like horn size/curve would be a status symbol of some kind. maybe Julie would have kept her horns filed short. but if she ran away from that life... longer horns! i like to imagine that they'll keep growing until she has a pair of Extra Weapons attached to her head! curved forward like mammoth tusks maybe!

i imagine that like Frank, she goes with minimal armor - range of movement over protection, yk? some scale mail over her front, a thick leather flower over her chest w/ scalloped leather pauldrons, wrist armor and metal knuckles! i'd think that the faux-suspenders include a back sheath for her sword... i wish i'd thought of that Before i finished the little ref! i don't feel like going back and editing!

i imagine that she was forced to cut her hair when it got caught in something (a gelatinous cube, mayhaps). it didn't look good! don't let anime and Mulan fool you! cutting your own hair with a blade will not look nice! but someone - Eddie, probably, he's good with scissors i'd assume - cleaned it up for her. and hey, it didn't look bad! plus, Julie probably liked being able to just tuck up her long strands into her hat when she's feeling a bit more like a Julius than a Julie!

it's been a fun challenge transforming their canon outfits into a similar variation with fantasy flavoring and twists! i want them to suit the setting but still maintain Themselves! Julie's was tough i gotta admit. i was messing around with the princess look and the fighter look side-by-side. it worked better when i sat back and thought "fighter Julie is Julie unrestrained. that version would be more aligned with her canon look"

i wanted her princess form to look Restrained! she has to be a ~delicate flower~, a noble woman, pristine and poised and very much a princess. soft colors, poofy clothing, bright white gloves that are not to be sullied. carefully bundled up hair! jewelry! that dress must be Heavy and hard to move in! her tail must be so cramped under there!

but Julie Unleashed? violent pinks! rose gold accents! short skirt so that she can sprint and Kick! fun boots that she can be active in and delight in watching them get dirty! her hair is free to whip in the wind and get caught in things! fun straps and Deadly Accessories! a sword that she stole from the royal armory on her way out the window! she has forearm wraps both to match Frank and to support her wrists!

She lives in Lazytown and I'm debating whether to make her Stephanie's cousin or just another citizen, but either way the particular reason she isn't as active as she could be is she's scared of EVERYTHING. Yes, I've thrust upon her my issues with anxiety (inspired partly by the recent wave I've been experiencing over the past few days 😅) she's scared of cars, birds, germs, certain types of bugs, and it leads to her feeling safer at home.

The lessons she learns with Sportacus and the others are to teach that even though the world can be scary, you can overcome it and get out there and experience all the good in it! 🥺💖

i think my favorite thing about tim and bernard is just how in love tim is with bear. usually in civilian x hero relationships the civilian is always way more in love with the hero than vice versa. but with tim and bernard, tim is sooo fuckin gone for bear, it almost stops being cute and borders on lame. pathetic even.

Another thing I love about is Zuko is 100% ready for a fight at all times. When Azula shows up at the Western Air Temple he’s immediately ready to go all hands. The Earth Kingdom soldiers in Zuko Alone want to fight? My man’s going to do it and he’s going to humiliate you while he’s at it. When he and Katara are hunting down Yon Rha and they find the current leader of the Southern Raiders Zuko beats that guy up no problem. When he sees Iroh in prison post-COD he’s throwing that guard up against the wall and off his feet like he’s a couple of grapes. The Beach has him launching people across the room. He’s ALWAYS ready to go and he’s not afraid to just throw away the bending, the swords and the knives and just go all in with just his hand-to-hand combat skills.

i was thinking further on how i could reconcile transmasc tim hcs with jack drake being the authoritarian republican parent that he is, and i think i figured it out. (cw for transphobia and deadname talk!)

tim, with a deadname of something like "jacqueline", aka "jackie", aka the tomboy girl who's almost as good as the son jack really wanted, who jack calls a total daddy's girl and brags about "li'l jackie" being named after him. except one day, when he's out of his coma and starting to recover and feeling soooo guilty for leaving his poor sweet innocent baby girl all alone after her mom's death... feeling guilty enough to even take her suggestion for which house to buy into heavy consideration...

and so "jackie" comes to him and says, hey, dad. can we talk about something? and explains that she actually wants to be a he. and jack's initial response of course is that this is ridiculous - is this some kind of grief response? except... the more she talks, the more it kind of makes sense. he has always wanted a son. and she's always been interested in boyish stuff. he thought that fixation on the circus kid from childhood was a crush, but maybe... she just wanted to be that kind of boy? and it's still not great, and he doesn't love it, but he supposes he can at least hear her out...

and the real final nail in the coffin is when she says dad, would you help me pick out a boy's name? if i'd been born a boy, maybe, what you and mom might've named me? and um... i was thinking i could maybe make my middle name something that can still shorten to jackie, 'cuz being named after you is important to me...

and what's an old pops who's been a little worried about bruce wayne replacing him as his kid's father supposed to do, when she--uh, he--flutters those big ol' baby blues at him like that?

now. here's the thing.

that was on purpose.

tim knows jack's been wallowing in guilt. that he's insecure about bruce. that he's always wished for a son instead of a daughter and that that is currently compounding the guilt he feels. tim is fully aware of all of this. tim is autistic with a special interest in "people" and he's completely cognizant of his father's vulnerabilities--a rare status that means he's actually listening more than he ever did before. and that's why he chose this moment to strike.

he is also going to have at least 4 minor existential crises over the next several months over the ethics of "was it wrong of me to knowingly and intentionally emotionally manipulate my father into being okay with me coming out?" but that's just how he is, i guess.
