danganronpa: tactics predictions:
still going to follow the six chapter arc
people are still going to die in every chapter not because you the player had bad tactics but because someone else made some shitty decisions (people definitely die; the trailer tells us you're gonna lose people throughout the game; it's probably scripted)
two people gonna die in the third chapter; this is a danganronpa game
ONE of your new classmates is totally working for the other side (because you gotta have a traitor)
last defense academy PROBABLY created the "student invaders" in their quest to try and protect the world and make the bestest soldier ever (mukuro was right there y'all)
look they even have a guy who attacks with a huge motorcycle he and mondo are besties probably

Makoto's the type of guy that gets commercial jingles stuck in his head. Man has full on phone numbers in his brain that he has no use for and no discernable way to get out of is mind. Additionally, he sometimes subconsciously hums them and whenever there's the occasional time he might reference a commercial in conversation with his peers, almost no one gets the reference. Hiro might be the only one who might get the reference. I like to think Hiro's got a lot of weird factoids and obscure stuff rattling up there. Most of the class wouldn't think much about this trivia of Makoto though I feel some like Hiro, Leon, and Aoi would find it funny. Sayaka would find it cute in some way but still rather silly. Then, there's Byakuya who would specifically find it all kinda pathetic with maybe a small part of him internally finding it funny (no way he's letting everyone else know that though).

Ok so new Nintendo direct dropped and it was amazing. Got new Mario and Luigi RPG game, Ace Attorney Investigations is finally coming to switch along with the sequel being localized/translated to eng(the original sequel was only ever released in Japan), new Zelda game starring Zelda, DK Returns getting a HD released, and even Metroid fans finally getting Prime 4. But what shock me the most was the new Kodaka/Too Kyo games “The Hundred Line- Last Defense Academy”…with this thing being in it
Tumblr media
W h a t t h e h e l l i s t h i s? Like Bruh they literally reused and edited Shinigami’s ghost sprites from Raincode. THAT’S JUST HER AS A SPERM WITH LEGS! Also I swear that has to be Yuma’s hat recolored and edited too like what? Guys c’mon 😭

Apparently I have autism so now Kyoko has autism. Sorry I don't make the rules, I just enforce them
Assorted Kyoko headcanons below:
(Sorry for the double-bullet point formatting. Tumblr refuses to put Regular spaces between bullet points and it would be hard to read otherwise)

First of all Kyoko has no idea she has autism until she's an adult. I don't think her grandfather even considered it when she was younger

Since she lived with him since she was 6, her special interest is in detective work. She also genuinely loves mystery stories outside of that

Also she says she’s secretly passionate about coffee, which she must’ve picked up from her grandfather. She probably has particular brands she prefers and has her own coffee maker because it’s her lifeblood, and can give a full analysis on whatever cup she tries if you ask

I can’t confirm but it seems like Kyoko doesn't have any friends at the all-girls school outside of Yui in DRK when she's 13, so yeah. Probably kept to herself for most of her time in school as a kid because she wasn't encouraged to make friends, and her main focus was on becoming a detective

This definitely leads to her talking to everyone like they're an adult coworker, regardless of age

When she first joins Hope’s Peak she barely speaks to anyone unless prompted to. Multiple students probably think Kyoko dislikes them because of that and how direct her responses can be, but she warms up to the rest of the class over the course of the months and some mandatory group activities

And she doesn’t like small talk, like she says in-game. I feel like she was raised thinking there had to be a clear point to conversations, and gets actively frustrated/confused when people try to talk to her about meaningless things

Even though she came to Hope’s Peak just to settle things with Jin, she avoids him like the plague and barely speaks to him the whole first year. Every time she considers it she realizes that’s a lot of emotional baggage and does not know how to deal with it, so avoids it entirely instead. During the break she has more time to think and over the course of the second year, they're on speaking terms

She stims without really knowing it. When her hands are free she's either fiddling with her braid, her sleeves, or thumbing over the studs on her gloves. She also bounces her leg sometimes if she's working at her desk

And her hands. First of all in DRK it does say her nerves weren't damaged, luckily. But look with how scarred they still visibly are in DR1 and the fact that she was caught in a literal explosion I call BS. I imagine there's some permanent damage and the gloves help deal with the sensitivity

She probably deals with random pains and involuntary movements that get better over the years, but still deal with occasionally dropping/knocking over things

She can do most things fine, but writing can be difficult/painful. She still feels the need to take notes on anything important, so that doesn't stop her, but her handwriting is slightly hard to read unless she writes slowly. When she's older she probably figures out it's easier to use a computer

She hates any sort of loud or sudden noise. Just in general I think she loves being in silence and finds it comforting, but usually uses quiet music when she’s working. (Once she gets her hands on some noise-canceling headphones tho… she’ll never take them off and you might never hear from her again)

She really likes the dark too. Like in her own house she would hardly have the lights on when she isn’t reading or working bc she loves sitting in the void, it’s just relaxing

And she gets real attached to her personal belongings. She doesn’t own much but keeps the things she gets forever. Gifts are like prized possessions to her. And even with things like her work shirts, she will be personally hurt if one of them gets stained or torn. As soon as she can fix it she’ll calm down but she’s very protective of her stuff

She takes getting hurt or betrayed very seriously too. Even just opening up to someone is a big step, so if she trusts you and you break it the rejection sensitivity hurts bad. She’ll get very upset and shut down emotionally, completely avoiding you until she can process her feelings (Like did u see how she treated Makoto for keeping one thing to himself once she didn’t even wanna eat in the same room with him at breakfast)

She hates crowds and loud spaces, she finds them both overwhelming and irritating and will not hesitate to find a way to leave or step out for a while if she can. If she needs to she’ll endure them anyway but anyone who knows her does not expect her to stay long at most events

And she finds the heat unbearable. She will complain internally if it's anything above 80 degrees, and it probably makes wearing her gloves uncomfortable. (Also when Makoto mentions how humid it is in the garden room she immediately says it's pretty uncomfortable and leaves)

She loves the cold tho, like she actively enjoys snowy weather and looks forward to it every year. And in general she keeps her room at like icebox temperatures

She admits she likes plain cereal for breakfast already so… I don’t need to elaborate. Kyoko probably has like five meal options she cycles between but basically still eats the same thing everyday. Especially if she lives on her own I think she has no idea how to cook beyond anything w basic instructions so she’ll buy 20 packs of something premade or microwaveable and hope it’ll last her some weeks

Also Kyoko gets so offended when you ask if she likes cup ramen and she says the thought of it makes her ill so… probably certain kinds of tastes and smells she cannot handle(Edit: Like coriander. Whether that's cilantro or the spice is up to your imagination!). Like she mentions being sensitive to fragrances so perfumes probably give her a headache if they’re too strong

And I think she does the thing of always looking like she frowning slightly about something, but not because she’s upset, just because there’s always some slightly uncomfortable sensation outside the comfort of her room. Either that or a blank stare, depending on her mood
Thats it. If you somehow made it to the end of the post, congrats and thank you for listening to my kyoko thoughts!

I think the best Danganronpa power move would be to just openly claim to be the Mastermind from the very start. Be like "yeah I'm the Mastermind, sorry everyone I had a GREAT idea while I was sleep deprived and now we're stuck here and I wiped some of my memories to ensure I couldn't go back on this so whoops my bad" and claim that's the first motive. Just act really chummy with Monokuma. Someone asks why they can't just kill me and be over with this and I'm just like "yah this is all automated I'm basically a regular student in the system so killing me won't end it sorry".
The real Mastermind is *furious* but Monokuma lets it go because he lives for drama and only reveals that sort of thing when the game's integrity is in question. Everyone gets so focused on my antics that they forget to kill each other, and that gives me more time to figure out who the Mastermind is.
Well, either that, or I end up dead within the first chapter. But like. It'd be funny.

He's in his ultimate thief mode, knowing full well that a furious bodyguard was chasing him from his constant jokes of her name. But Akira couldn't help it. Peko and Peeko. All that was missing was an extra e. Could anyone blame him in making the connection? He thought not.
Still, being chased by sword through the halls was gathering a lot of attention. Something that Akira himself didn't like. He wonders how long this was going to last. It seemed like Peko didn't seem tired at all. Akira needed to think fast and quick to dodge, possibly to get away without the other noticing. Maybe mentioning Fuyuhiko might do something here.
"Hey look! There's that guy you swore to look after!!" And with the distraction, he climbs up the air vent and gets away finally after all that chasing.

But what did you think of Danganronpa: Tactics The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-?
Have you seen the new Nintendo Direct? There's a couple things in it that I thought would interest you
I've seen a couple trailers from it. Super hyped about the the new Zelda featuring Zelda herself as the main player character for the first time since Wand of Gamelon. And we don't talk about Wand of Gamelon.
Happy to see Metroid Prime 4 materializing. I've always maintained that Prime 4 was a PR stunt that they're now obligated to make, but I look forward to seeing the final product all the same.
Mario & Luigi Brothership looks sweet. Nice to see that subfranchise still going strong.
Lego Horizon Adventures wins the award for most What The Actual Fuck. Horizon: Zero Dawn is arguably the best post-apocalypse game ever made - eat shit, Last of Us (which is also good) - but I was not expecting Nintendo Direct to announce a Lego adaptation of a first-party Sony Exclusive. ...okay! I guess this is happening now!
Tales of the Shire looks like LOTR-themed Animal Crossing. I'm more of a Stardew Valley person myself, so it's not for me. It is, however, undoubtedly the LOTR game that Gandalf himself (and his big naturals) would most want to play.
Like Metroid Prime 4, I have cynical opinions about Ace Attorney Investigations Collection. I'm excited for an official English release of Investigations 2, but I knew this was coming so my excitement is tempered. They're trying to milk this franchise, so they were going to rerelease every last game in their backlog before resorting to making a new one. It was only a matter of time. So it's hype, but only so much as an obvious inevitability can be.

rewording a post i made a while ago just bc it was a bit nonsensical but something that definitely needs to be examined in the danganronpa fandom is how a lot of characters seem to be interpreted through one single lens of intelligence. does that make sense. like in order for a character to be “smart” in this fandom they SPECIFICALLY need to be book smart and well spoken, regardless of their talents. we gotta shape up guys .. examining other types of intelligence is FASCINATING and really highlights each characters strengths and weaknesses, and this especially applies to emotional intelligence.
like is byakuya smart? absolutely. but is he emotionally intelligent? fuck no!!!! and aoi used that against him in chapter four!!!!!!!! and even though she is misguided as all hell, tenko has the ability to understand her opponent mid-battle and use that to determine how she continues the fight (likely something other fighting ultimates do as well!!!) which is crazy. mikan is able to read facial expressions well, even if she IMMEDIATELY misinterprets this as something she personally did wrong lol. these characters navigate through the killing game differently and in some cases survive because of it, and if you want something interesting to write on it’s definitely something to be examined!!!
also straight up sometimes the fandom interprets characters who don’t speak super formally/are optimistic as dumb too which is so strange. more of the “buff” talents like mondo and fuyuhiko need to understand battle tactics and serious team management/planning in order to get anywhere in their field, but are pushed aside quite a bit because theyre these super gruff macho characters that swear a bunch. sonia as well because she's a fish out of water type of character. and yes he isn’t very well spoken and is very trusting but gonta is an actual scientist guys… i could make a whole separate post about this weird trend of pessimism being seen as smart and optimism as stupid but yeah seriously
anyways all this to say, when writing for a “dumb” character take a step back and ask just what makes them dumb in your eyes. is it because they aren’t considered academic or a scholar?? is it because they’re a “happier” character that might not be as well-spoken?? theres nuance there and this obviously doesn't apply to all of them, like clearly akane isnt super good with emotions or smarts in general, but even THEN her spacial awareness and heightened sense of perception is something that is often under-utilised in fics!! it provides a whole lot of depth to remember that a lot of danganronpa characters are very talented and well versed in other forms of intelligence than what might be most obvious !!!!!

TooKyo Games' "Limit x Despair" is finally unveiled as "The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-"
Once again, TooKyo Games came out swinging during a Nintendo Direct.
youtube
The moment this trailer starts up, you can immediately recognize Rui Komatsuzaki's character designs.
Tumblr media
Then the setup is described: 16 students are locked inside an academy alongside a weird living mascot character, fighting for their lives as their friends are forced to die right in front of them. Sounds familiar.
Tumblr media
Yup: Hard as it is to believe, it is already time for Kazutaka Kodaka's next game. The game once known as "Limit x Despair" or "Extreme x Despair" is here, and it's... a tactical RPG!
Tumblr media
...I can legitimately say that I did not expect that. But I am also definitely down for it!
The story seems to deal with the world (or at least the characters' hometown?) being invaded and attacked by some monsters that look like the "Spirit World" baddies from Magical Girl Spec-Ops. Our protagonist Takumi Sumino is forced to hole up and lock down in a school alongside 15 other students and... this thing.
Tumblr media
....and from there, they must fight to defend the school in the aforementioned battles.
Aside from the tactical top-down combat and visual novel sequences, you'll also explore the titular "Last Defense Academy" from a perspective similar to how your traversed the island in Danganronpa 2.
Tumblr media
Given that we're apparently dealing with a cast of characters that will be whittled down and lost as the narrative progresses, I think this is going to be tonally much closer to Danganronpa's storytelling style than Master Detective Archives: Rain Code was. What I mean is: Master Detective Archives (MDA) was basically the gameplay successor to Danganronpa, but The Hundred Line (THL?) looks more like it's the narrative successor to Danganronpa, if that makes any sense?
Suffice to say that I am once again extremely hyped/excited.

Kirumi
Little analysis⬇️
I don't think we talk enough about how manipulative Kirumi can be. When she was considered the main suspect, she began to lie, emphasizing that she always valued the needs of others more than her own. This is partly true, but in that situation she was not caring about THEM, but about other people. And in order to remove suspicion from herself (and make everyone vote incorrectly), she used any methods. She even tried to evoke pity by crying. But the dirtiest method she used was that she used Kaede's wish to convince them that she would never try to deceive them. She knew that this wish became a symbol of hope for the group, she knew that Kaede was very important to Shuichi, she knew that it was still very difficult for him to reveal the truth. But she used it to her advantage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When she was found out and already chosen as the killer, Kirumi tried to force everyone to fight Monokuma for her (which would inevitably lead to someone's death), causing everyone to feel guilty towards the entire country for which she was responsible. And it almost worked.
But Kaito brought everyone to their senses with his speech that there is no such thing as the “price of life.” They can't just give their lives because "it's would be better that way". Their lives matter. " Life's purpose is to be lived". He firmly stated that he wanted to live, which was actually a very brave act, because people could've called him an egoist for putting his life before the lives of an entire nation. However, he was supported by... Kokichi. He brought the group's attention to what Kirumi was actually trying to do. He revealed that she planned to use them to escape. And she confirmed that he was right with her words.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also how different her behavior was before this from how aggressive she becomes when she sees that her tactics didn't work (and at a couple of other points during the class trial when she was just starting to get accused).
Tumblr media
I'm NOT trying to make her out to be a villain and say she's bad. But I don't like how this imperfect side of her character is often ignored. She is often positioned only as a selfless servant, which in my opinion is wrong. I DO NOT deny her selfless devotion, but I believe that the trial brought out another side of her. She really wanted to survive. She really wanted to get out. I believe that one of the reasons of her breakdown was due to the fact that she broke under the pressure of all the responsibility that was placed on her.
In the official manga, Kiyo analogizes their situation to a tradition called "jincan", where many poisonous insects are sealed in a jar and they begin to devour each other until only one insect remains. Kirumi reasons with him that if any being sees a chance to get out of the hell they are locked in, they will do anything to achieve this goal.
Tumblr media
I love how Danganronpa often defies obvious expectations. Like, you expect Kirumi to become a killer because someone will use her and she won't be able to refuse because of her desire to serve. But in reality, she almost sacrificed the lives of the entire group in order to get out herself.
In conclusion, I think it is important to recognize Kirumi not only as a obedient Ultimate Servant, but also as a girl who desperately wants to live, who is ready to do ANYTHING to get out. She is ready to go to great lengths if necessary to achieve this goal.
Tumblr media
Many of Kirumi's moments have a theme of surviving no matter what: her behavior at the Class Trial (the fact that she initially tried to frame Himiko, who can not stand up for herself), her manipulation at the end of the trial, her breakdown before her execution, execution itself, where she tries to escape so desperately that she climbs up a thorny vine through a tunnel, not stopping even when circular saws appear from the walls (her escape attempt was clearly part of the execution, Monokuma knew what she will try to do and made sure to cause her as much despair as possible, giving her hope of getting out).
She wanted to get out not only to continue to serve, but also because she just wanted to survive. She wanted to do something not only for the sake of others, but also for her own sake. Perhaps for the first time in her life.
I love seeing complex characters who have many sides and flaws. So I find it strange to see that sometimes Kirumi is only described as a obedient servant. She is so much more than that. This is exactly what I love about Kirumi, what makes her so interesting.
***
Uh, hey. I just wanted to ask if you would be intrested in seeing here more of my drv3 analysis (spoiler: most of them are ch 5 related). And if you are, should i make drawings to accompany them (like in the beginning of this post) or just post them as they are
