^this but unironically
#also this is such a ridiculous comparison#one of them gets more and more angry as the show progresses actively hurting the people around them#and that’s not me being analytical or hashtag deancrit or whatever it’s just. canon#he has a whole fucking arc about how hes becoming more and more angry and its taking him over and turning him into someone awful#like it’s not a well executed arc <3 but it is about that.#it’s not a coincidence that moc happens right after dean does like some of his worst show moments ever#aka being awful to sam all of s8 for daring to try to move on and then getting him possessed and gaslighting him about it#like they don’t tie up moc in a fulfilling way dean just gets worse and worse and never heals but. Whatever#meanwhile. the other (sam) gets villainised by the show for showing entirely appropriate anger Which by the way is never directed violently#at dean in fact we barely even SEE it in him sam just says he FEELS angry all the time and somehow believes this is proof he is innately#evil and the show AGREES with him. and as the show goes on he stops being able to access this anger even in self preservation and has his#sense of personhood and autonomy worn down again and again#. Like that is completely different#‘whenever dean expresses it that’s just him being abusive’#Literally yes. like i worry for you if you think that trying to kill a child because you’re upset your family died is like Good Normal#Behaviour#it’s understandable in the context of deans life! all his behaviour is! but that doesn’t make it good…#spn#fandom wank#oliver talks#supernatural

“You get some trauma! You get some trauma! You get some trauma! EVERYBODY GETS A TRAUMA!!!!!!!!”
*points at Opal* “Except you.”
Opal's trauma is finding out about all the visceral suffering that stitched her happy family together :)
#I haven't said much about it + when I have it was mostly jokes about the subject#but Opal has a lot of strong emotions about her family's history.#she grew up completely unaware of it all. no one told her anything because it wasn't ongoing and therefore didn't impact her directly.#Ark was willing to sit down with Opal and run through a (significantly censored + age-appropriate) summary of the family's history#but Twig was ADAMANT that they not tell her anything unless she asked at a much later age.#She didn't want the past to hang over her daughter's head and was terrified of Opal being damaged by things.#She won't lie if she asks her things in her mid-teens. But she's not letting anything slip on her own or before then.#Opal feels bad because the trauma of it all isn't hers and yet she still feels upset about it.#She knows she isn't required to be told everything and yet she still feels betrayed by people hiding it from her.#She loves her family members so much. it's so strange to look at them and know#she wouldn't recognize her own parents even just a decade before she hatched.#She hears about a confrontation between Mother and Uncle Kip and Uncle Grovyle and that it was apparently pretty bad.#Kip doesn't have any of the scars he had as a mudkip anymore. There's nothing there except for an old burn from a slip in the kitchen.#There's so much that happened to everyone that she doesn't know anything about.#She wonders if Uncle Grovyle's persistent pain comes from a duel to the death with the one who wears time as a cloak himself.#She wonders if Dusknoir's shaking hands when she talks to him in a charmander's form come from things done to Mother.#She wonders if Dad's refusal to leave her alone with Cresselia comes from the same things that made him want a world locked in stasis.#Even after she's got a more rounded understanding of her family's background#Opal still doesn't know much about where Mother came from before the point where Grovyle took her under his wing.#She asks about it--- where she grew up. who Opal could call her relatives from her side. Dad doesn't have a bio family; but she does right?#Mother takes a while to answer. She sits next to Opal in silence. They watch the fireplace crackle warmly.#(Mother is watching it with a kind of bone-crushing exhaustion Opal has never seen from her.)#She smiles. “I grew up underground like all the other humans. But I left home pretty young though; and I met Grovyle pretty soon after.”#Opal accepts the answer but she can't help but wonder why Mother avoided the question of her own family entirely.#(She thinks about how Mother is so particular about Opal and the others knowing she loves them and would never ever hurt them.#It's such a silly thing to remind them all of when she's so doting and gentle. She couldn't hurt a cutiefly.#and it's while pondering the deliberateness of her doting gentleness#that she wonders if Mother was afforded the same as a young human buried miles beneath the topsoil.)#the present is a gift au#shadow baby au

my coworker is so…i don’t even know what the word is. but i definitely don’t think making “jokes” about sick children in the hospital is appropriate
#i don’t wanna say too much because the details frankly are not my business let alone anyone else’s#but basically there were some very small children that came in with family to visit a patient#and she tried making a ‘joke’ about well. you can probably infer the rest#nobody laughed. thankfully#that’s just completely inappropriate and like. i don’t even but what the fuck man#idk maybe i’m too woke 🙄#also. i just wanna clarify#i don’t think joking about anyone ending up in the hospital is an appropriate thing to do#especially when it’s visitors in the building or patients themselves…those are complete strangers ma’am#snow.txt

I think if Ziyal was more obviously a little fucked up a lot of people would go from low key ignoring her to hating her but she should've been more obviously fucked up
#cipher talk#ds9#Like yeah she's manipulative. Can we push that a little more to the front?#Ziyal is a very traumatized child who only just got out of a bad situation I wanna see her making grabby hands at any sense of safety#And any sense of /power/. I wanna see her relationship to Cardassian (implied to be very rigid) class dynamics as the daughter of a very#High class family and how exactly that intersects with her being Bajoran as much as she is Cardassian#I think you could analyze this in her character as it already exists like- the way she dresses isn't the same as other Cardassians but it's#Very similar to Cardassian fashion with very little Bajoran influences from what I can see and you can argue that's a form of her grabbing#At power and safety via Cardassian class b/c it really isn't doing her any favors to dress that way on Bajor#But I want more. More introspection.#Also I think she navigates social interactions too normally honestly. Let her say weird things completely seriously#Be a bit rude on accident. Not quite get what's appropriate/forget other people don't share certain experiences

you know i must have been bone-tired when this part of the herb brides lore didn't come to my mind when i discussed how the Kin fundamentally differs from the cultures it is inspired by um There Is The Human Sacrifice part. like it's an important part of pathologic 2 that you are doing human, or anthropomorphic (if you want to see the Herb Brides as closer to spirits, which comes with its own set of problematics regarding how to approach their oppression) sacrifice. it's an important part of pathologic 2 that you kill a woman, as part of the journey and in direct resonance with you ritualistically killing cattle earlier, and she offers herself to you with cultural and religious significance.
human sacrifices have been done across the globe for millennia, but i cannot, for the life of me, find any source at all that mentions the Buryats (since that was the discussion point) partaking in human sacrifices by the turn of the 19th-early 20th century (or even anything past the 16th). every single source mentioning offerings and sacrifices i've read mentions animals, things such as milk and vodka, and often both at once. would love to read anything about these rituals if papers exist, but i'm personally drawing a blank.
the Kin has Obvious and very Visible influences but it also differs from specific (in this discussion's case, the Buryats) or wider (here, turkic/mongolic as a whole) cultures from the area by so many pieces, big and small, that i wouldn't have enough appendages on my whole body to count them all. and sister. i have plenty of appendages.
#i AM reading a paper that mentions the human sacrifices at Mongol burials where people (typically servants or family) would be sacrificed#to accompany the dead; as well as the Shor practice of sacrificing women/girls (replaced apparently quickly by sacrificing ducks)#but those seem pretty old [the Mongol part mentions the 13th century] & like. nothing about the buryats in that time period#i'm like 85% sure i saw in the beginning of being into patho someone saying how equating the Kin; who practice human sacrifices [& others]#to correlate/be meant to represent Real Life ethnicities is insulting because They Don't Do That.#and like. everythingggg that touches upon representation/appreciation/appropriation/theft is subjective and#informed my how much leeway you're willing to give the creators so that's like#bro i'm just reading PDFs#also just found out the discussion of ''The Kin Is Obviously Inspired But Not Meant To Represent [x]'' is over 2yrs old. we're still at it.#as anon said. ''unless you're tolkien; coming up with a whole fictional language is hard''.#anyways appendage time. stuff that differs just out of the top of my head:#everything relating to the religion which is almost a complete inverse of buryat tengrist/shamanic faith + don't get me started on buddhism#the clothes. the homes. the creation myths; beyond the apparition of Clay; which is present in so many cultures on earth#no swan ancestor. no lake worship. no sky/heavens. no tens of named hierarchical deities. NO BURBOT! no hats. no hats (burts into tears)#NO HORSES? ON THE EURASIAN STEPPE?#the belief that earth mustn't be cut is so buryat. i'm sure i've read it. no idea if it is also in other mongolic peoples but buryat it is.#also a bull-ancestor/bull totem. that exists in buryat tribes; but they also have a bunchhhhh of other sacred animals (including. swans.#also horses. there's this [charm?] made out of horse hair there is)#neigh (blabbers)#i'm realizin how crazy i sound repeating shit that has been said 2yrs ago but like someone already mentioned the human sacrifice.#someone already mentioned the clothes. someone already mentioned the yurts/gers. someone already mentioned the religion#like i'm just. repeating stuff. and yet. give it up for year 2

in a forensics class and hearing about the jonbenet case just makes me so acab like the police just hear medical and forensic and scientific experts make CONCLUSIONS based on EVIDENCE and the cops just go “nuh uh that doesnt match the belief that media sensation that surrounded this case told me was true so you must be wrong despite the fact that multiple other professionals agree with you and have also come to the same conclusions based on the evidence amd i am not a professional but i am a cop so i must be right also if i gave in now then all the shady shit we did like withholding evidence multiple times so that the case would go in our favor would make us look like were corrupt or something and that cant be case can it???”
like what the fuck just admit you fucked up from the start and now a family will never get closure for their dead daughter and will forever be accused of killing her because you fucked up and then tried to cover up your mistakes
#FUCK THE COPS#all the evidence against the ramseys generally has to be stretched so far or is just entirely based on their supposedly weird behavior#which wasnt even that wierd like that’s exactly how i react to every death that has happened in my family#just admit that their reaction didnt fit your box of neurotypicalness and realize that they reacted completely appropriately#everyone who thinks it was the parents are either uneducated on the case or a godsdam conspiracy theorist#this case is fucked#jonbenet ramsey#true crume#acab

the problem with self-diagnosis that most concerns me is the risk of people, teenagers especially, pathologizing normative behavior
#p.s.#yes there are social and financial and sometimes familial barriers that limit people's access to official diagnosis#and I don't think self-diagnosis is an inherently bad reaction to any of those#but the thing is you can reasonably look through the diagnostic criteria for just abt any mental illness or disorder and diagnose yourself#with it if you spend enough time analyzing everything you do#diagnoses don't indicate just a pattern of behavior but the severity of the pattern and the context in which it was formed#like all those 15 year old who think they have BPD#you don't have BPD hon you're just 15#doesn’t mean you don't need support or mental health services#but the reason we don't diagnose teens with BPD is bc there's no real way to tell since most teenagers just kind of act like they have BPD#if you're acting like you're 15 and you're 15 that's called being a hormonal teenager#if you're acting 15 and you're 30 that's BPD (this is a gross oversimplification but you get the idea)#also we don't tend to diagnose personality disorders in teens very often bc teens are still developing their personalities#like you can do all the research in the world in your early teens and correctly come to the conclusion that your behavior mimicks BPD and#the incorrectly self diagnose as BPD bc you understand all the symptoms of BPD but don't actually understand what a personality disorder is#or how it develops#I've met tons of people who are self diagnosed as this or that who couldn't correctly define a depressive episode let alone their own#diagnosis#also the tendency for people to perpetuate completely normative behaviors as signs of one disorder or another indicates to me that a lot of#people don't understand these diagnoses as much as they may think#or when they blame unrelated behaviors on their self diagnosis - as if that's an excuse even if they were related#again I don't think self-diagnosis is bad but seeing large amounts of teenagers and kids pathologize their age appropriate behaviors as the#most severe kinds of disorders and then having full grown adults go to bat for their right to view their normative behaviors as a mental#disease that they will have to manage for their whole life is... concerning to say the least

Most people's reactions to the new RF: Oh thank god all the likely love interests thus far actually look like adults!!!
Me: Please god let them be hyping up the "town building" addition more than necessary. I DO NOT want to actually make and shape the town. Please.
#rune factory#literally i have never had any desire to do any kind of landscaping or building placement in games#if i WANTED that i'd play animal crossing. give me a pre-built town that i can just tack on a few necessary things like a monster barn#heck i'm one of those people who doesn't even mess with the houses when playing sims!#i can spend HOURS making a family of sims. just to stick them in one of two default houses depending on how big the starting household is#also for the record i do not care and have never cared for the 'age/appearance discourse' that constantly haunts this series#regardless of how some of the characters look and/or act... they are considered close in age and an appropriate match for the PROTAGONIST#the protagonist is still pretty young too! so the choices will be similarly young! it's not rocket science.#heck i much prefer this to say a game where you're given the option of significantly older love interests despite a canonly young protag#(cough persona 5 cough. kawakami is GREAT just as a social link but being able to romance her when playing a highschooler is... a choice)#that said at the end of the day it's all fiction so i don't really care that much.#ultimately i'm of the opinion that the more love interests the better! more options means more opportunity for EVERYONE to strike gold!#it just bothers me how a huge chunk of the fandom hates on or is uncomfortable with several completely valid love interests

I am visiting extended family and experiencing a spectrum of shrimp emotions both positive and negative. Positive because I love them and love spending time with them. Negative for reasons I feel so self conscious about I can’t bring myself to explain them outside of the tags even in my anonymous personal blog. I can’t sleep even though I’m exhausted. every night I’m pacing from anxiety as I try to figure out which parts of me to be honest about and which to conceal for the sake of not? Deeply hurting the people I care about? Even though I haven’t done anything wrong so if they are hurt that’s not on me.
#this post is primarily about whether I confess that I categorically and completely do not believe in the divinity of Jesus#And maybe telling them to stop trying to make my Jewish faith about the guy because that is offensive along multiple axes#So far I’ve been evading things and giving noncommittal answers to their questions but I feel so… dishonest#Not that I owe them honesty. Their questions are not appropriate#But I feel like I’m not being honest and respecting MYSELF by not owning my own deeply held beliefs#And I have no reason not to tell them except fear that they’ll be upset. Even though that reaction would be on them and not on me!#Once I start my PhD in the fall my stipend will allow me to be financially independent. I am exceedingly privileged in that regard#So there’s no financial risk to me if I alienate them to the point of cutting me off. Not that I think that’s remotely likely.#My own immediate family have been really supportive. My mom especially (my brother less so but he’s trying and I think he’ll get there)#But also. Jesus is so important to them that the one thing I could see myself getting cut off from at least extended family over is this#I’m so frustrated with them and honestly hurt by all the Christian supercessionist bullshit they’ve foisted on me this week#Trying to contort my faith into some validation of theirs. Completely steamrollering and erasing all the beautiful and unique aspects of#Judaism in the process. Trying to explain my own religion to me even though I’ve studied it for YEARS#There are some things they’ve said that are so offensively wrong it hurts#They mean well but honestly it makes it feel even worse#I feel bad but… it’s gotten to the point that I viscerally hate any mention of Jesus#Used to feel neutral about him. Could talk about him positively in the name of interfaith understanding#But the more my family tries to force him on me the more I loathe the idea of him#vent#personal#religion#religion tw#sorry I know this is potentially sensitive subject matter for people#Christian antisemitism

i need to get more into filipino music please does anyone have any recs
#we're going through another im ''''not filipino enough'''' phase. whatever that means.#i'm so disconnected to being filipino that it sometimes feels like a deep physical ache#(for context i grew up in a completely white town that had so few people of color for most of my time there)#(and then i went to an online school for most of college where we didn't . like. make friends.)#the issue with wanting to learn more about filipino culture tho is that i'm afraid that i'll be invading people's spaces#or be appropriating the culture which ???? brain what.#(i am only half filipino my mom is white but i've got a complicated relationship with calling myself half filipino or mixed tbh)#(i'm trying to sort it out but it's hard. it's hard!! ok!!!)#my filipino family lives about 13 hours away and we haven't seen them since um...my cousins cotillion in like 2021?#sorry i'm having a moment i'm having a night does anyone have any music recs from filipino artists#i'll try anything tbh#i actually did a final paper on the evolution of filipino music so this is slightly embarrassing but asldkfjsdkjf its. fine!#this is embarrassing i'm gonna queue it#not pjo#chitter chatter

And what a time this was
#cultural appropriation#I don’t even hate Miley but I never like forgot about any of this for obvious reasons lmfao#like black ppl embraced her during this time for whatever reason (she had bangers) but most ppl didn’t take her seriously either and#were mostly making fun of her white ass again for OBVIOUS reasons#and then after her family and man started getting embarrassed by her she quickly jumped off the ‘I wanna act like a nigga all of a sudden#despite being white as fuck and antiblack for my behavior for clout 😁!’#she remembered that she was a white girl and has even called this whole… whatver tf it was era of hers ‘embarrassing’#nbs and especially whites will never beat the cultural appropriation allegations omg#they take what they can completely making a mockery out of what is important to black folks and our culture and then run once they’ve#gotten the attention and hype they’ve been looking for#it’s always a huge eye roller for me whenever I see big time black artists especially entertain these snow fleas#black ppl have always been too easily accepting of everyone despite others never extending the same hand and this will always be#one of our major flaws#I don’t even think she’s ever apologized for the shit either and whenever ppl talk about this they’re told to stfu#as if we all didn’t see this shit go down in real time lmfao#insane

HAD THE. CRAZIEST INSANE SEQUENCE OF EVENTS AT UNIVERSAL TODAY
#okay. in line for our first ride we notice the couple behind us is british and we're like omg! thats fun. dont hear a lot of british accents#so we like move on. and go to our next ride. and notice behind us there was a group of british teens#and we were like omg! what a fun coincidence. hahahaha. anyways :) and we left and went to our next ride#and as we got to the end we saw this guy arguing about the fact he couldnt bring his backpack onto the ride#so he left to put it in a locker and went. “sorry i cant get on” in. YOU GUESSED IT. A BRITISH ACCENT.#and they had a little kid so we were like OMG. 3 diff british families thats so insane. and like little kids with accents are always so fun#so we leave like. are we on punkd? this is wild. and we go to another ride. No British people around. but.#as we get to like the ride area the door isnt open#so i turn to my friend like should i just open it myself? and i hear. from the family who's going in with us.#'just go ahead and open it love'. SHOCK#DISBELIEF. A FOURTH FUCKING BRITISH FAMILY. COMPLETELY SEPERATE FROM THE OTHER 3. ALL IN A ROW.#we leave in a daze. surely thats just insane. so we go to the other park and get on our first ride. no british people#we think okay. its finally over. go to another ride. still no british people. like i guess the curse is lifted lol!#and as we are walking to our next ride i am physically blocked by this family. and as i go to complain about it what do i hear?#TWO LITTLE KIDS SPEAKING IN GERMAN. TWO GERMAN CHILDREN. WHAT THE FUCK.#i start flipping out because in all my years of living in orlando i have never seen a german tourist. thats crazy.#and after all THAT? MY GOD!#we leave the ride in a daze. and we decide to go on one last ride (a harry potter one)#of course i have the thought like lol. there should be a british family here itd be appropriate#and as we're walking up i see another guy getting told he has to put his backpack in a locker. as a joke i turn to my friend and say#'i cant get on!' in the same accent as that guy from all those rides ago. as a funny reference to ourselves#and as i step closer what do i hear exit this mans mouth? A FUCKING. SCOTTISH ACCENT.#I FELT LIKE I WAS IN A FEVER DREAM. WHAT THE FUCK. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN#i have NEVER seen so many british people in my entire life. ALL IN ONE DAY.

Nvm feminism cancelled I'm having ideas for a different nugget now hashtag misogyny
#rat rambles#oc posting#well ok. I havent decided their gender yet. but I dont think they have either so point still stands#I was just looking at my guys to see if any of them have any ego gifts that could be fun to fuck around with#and I looked at shao and was like god funeral of a dead butterfly ego gift is so overrated I don't want to draw that thing#and then I remembered. I dont have to draw that thing. not if I make some shit up#I am a big fan of stylilizing ego gifts and an even bigger fan of just completely changing them <3#shao also has one of the rose gifts but Im probably going to change it to snow whites apple's gift to make it more thematically appropriate#Im basically going to mush the two gifts together and by that I mean make them both something theyre very much not#viney butterfly wings <3333#to be clear theyre not usable as wings in fact shao tends to use them more like legs#the vines are quite thick and act as the veins so even if they werent trapped indoors they still couldn't work as wings#shao pretty much excusively uses these for mobility and as such is juliets default erand boy and juliet is quite fond of them#shao is in turn deeply loyal to juliet as they grew up without a family and sees juliet as filling that hole#juliet plays into it since she sees them as a valuable resource but she doesnt actually see them like that#juliet does like them but shes not really attached to them at all#if they died shed see it as more of a waste than a tragedy

^addendum because it IS an artform i'm fully out here planning sentences minutes before i say them
optional: tell us where you’re from in the tags!
#auntie/uncle in russian first name in german#auntie/uncle followed by their first name that is#i may be completely off about this because i never learnt russian politeness and etiquette beyond what a 5-year-old needs#but im fairly certain age difference based hierarchy is pretty important in russia so the aunt/uncle is also a title that acknowledges#the age difference at play and displays the due respect#in germany there's just much less family culture in general families tend to be smaller and dont come together as deliberately#and mandatorily to celebrate birthdays and holidays#like in germany one might go to a restaurant to celebrate a relative's birthday whereas in russia theres a commonly#known repertoire of homemade dishes (beetroot salad herring salad etc) and storebought ones (several cakes from a russian#confectioner's) that are appropriate for auch an occasion#so in germany theres not really a lot of strict rules about this kind of thing
