Thoughts/theories/predictions/ideas/possible plotlines/etc. for S8

I thought I would compile these so I don't create seven or eight posts in a flurry.

Bobby/Athena: Some type of tandem storyline as part of Bobby reclaiming the 118 from Gerrard's grip where he and Athena uncover a corruption scandal in the LAFD tying to Councilwoman Ortiz, Gerrard (obviously) and others. If more plotline is needed for them after that (if it wraps up by the midseason finale for example) then I would like seeing Bobby's health issues worsen bit by bit and him struggle to be honest with the rest of the team about that. Related to that plot, perhaps have Athena learn from Harry that Michael's cancer resurfaced with a vengeance and claimed his life (it's not like we're getting Michael back on the show anytime soon considering the actor's behavior), which compiles with learning about Bobby's health and starting to worry she'll lose him too. Plus both of them spending more time with Harry.

Hen: In addition to participating in Bobby and Athena's plotline of uncovering corruption and taking down Ortiz, I'd love to see Hen become more comfortable with leadership around the 118, especially in response to Gerrard. Perhaps have something happen in the field where Hen contradicts Gerrard's orders and the rest of the team (beyond even just our main cast, the whole rest of the team) follows her orders instead of his. And subsequently when he tries to punish her, say, by trying to make her scrub the rigs by herself, he finds the entire group cleaning together, chatting, and having fun (Hen didn't ask them to help, they just did so of their own volition) Despite being enraged, Gerrard struggles to find a way to punish them since it's not like he can fire the whole house, and any punishment he tries they find a way to circumvent, with Hen leading the charge. Basically she gets to be the ringleader of the 118's internal war with Gerrard. And along the way we get more Henren home stuff and building on the connection with Mara.

Chimney: WHERE THE HELL WAS ALBERT?! I would not at all mind Chimney having an arc where he realizes he hasn't heard from Albert in a while and ends up decrypting where Albert ended up (could be as malicious or innocent as they want, anything from Albert deciding to join an Amish community temporarily while traveling the country and not having a phone while there to straight up human trafficking. Take your pic, writers). Outside of that, I want more of Chimney getting to be the Dad he never had. More of him and Jee-Yun in general. Along the way, maybe have Gerrard's treatment trigger Chimney? Situations Gerrard puts him in drag up Chimney's trauma about Kevin, something like that.

Maddie: I don't really know what I want for Maddie per se, outside of I wouldn't mind this season being her turn to not have trauma or pain. Kind of the way her brother got off easy this season. See more of her interactions with everyone, give her the occasional intense dispatch call to show off her skills, show her being happy and domestic with Chimney and Jee-Yun, all that good stuff. If we need to give her a full plotline, perhaps she could get involved if something were to happen between Buck and their parents (we'll talk about that in a sec in his section), or be a rallying point for the other plotlines whenever they need her help, or, if we wanted to go far afield from her usual stuff, perhaps have her express interest in returning to the medical field to some degree, maybe even thinking about trying to be a paramedic? Idk, I love Maddie, but I'm not certain what to do with her character at the moment outside of just letting her be happy, since she probably got the least amount of setup from S7.

Buck: What I most want from Buck, at least in the first half of the season, is to focus on how his bisexuality affects him and his mental health and let him continue to explore those emotions, perhaps with conversations with Hen, Josh, Karen, etc. As the season continues, he realizes his relationship with Tommy has...stagnated, they go on dates, they hang out occasionally, but there's just not much energy to the proceedings, so Buck thinks maybe that means it's time to propose. (This may not be going where you think it's going). So he has an episode where he goes around to Henren, Bathena, Madney, asking all of his married friends basically how they knew they wanted to get married, and while they give different, unique answers, the general takeaway is that you shouldn't feel you have to marry someone, but that you want to. That they are your forever person. And the episode ends with Buck going to look at rings...and deciding not to buy one, leaving the store looking a bit conflicted. Within a couple episodes of that, he and Tommy break up. (I would probably want it to be amicable in this scenario, to demonstrate Buck making the mature decision that he didn't have anything against Tommy, he just wasn't his forever person, but if there had to be some drama there, Tommy making a nasty comment after Buck says he wants to break up to reassure Buck's decision and leave him with no regrets. Then after that...give Buck time to realize that Tommy was, in a lot of ways, store-brand Eddie. But Buck doesn't like Eddie, right? I mean he likes him, but he doesn't like him, right? (Spoiler alert, he does)

Eddie/Chris: The first half of the season needs to be Eddie in therapy leading to Chris' return, though I would love for Chris' choice to be...borderline untethered from Eddie's plotline. Not in the way that it his absence then subsequent return has no effect on Eddie, but I think it would be good for Chris' character to have him converse with Eddie's parents, family, etc, and have him realize on his own what his father has been through and the extent to which Eddie loves him, and then the talk with Eddie is the final piece of the puzzle, not the only piece of the puzzle, if that makes sense. And I also think it's crucial that Eddie not be "cured" when Chris returns. He's still working on himself, he's still healing, but Chris is ready to be back with him and stay with him. Building on that, I think it'd be powerful for Chris to be the one to force Eddie to confront the idealized version of Shannon he's built up in his head. Even if it happens indirectly through something Chris says, it'd be powerful for them to start healing that wound together. Then once Chris is back in LA (by the second half of the season at the latest), part of Eddie's therapy arc involves him realizing piece by piece how much he's pushed the past few seasons' girlfriends away, and why, and perhaps even he runs into Ana again and finds out she has a fiancé, and they chat about finding love like that. Along the way have Eddie talk to Athena for sure, since for some reason they haven't really interacted despite her being a pretty perfect person to talk about lost loves (Bobby too, but he and Eddie have talked more than once). But all this forces Eddie to confront who he is, who he's always been, what he's been pushing down and pushing away for years, and when that arc collides with Buck realizing his feelings, the season ends with the big Buddie canonization.

I realize I went into more detail with Buck and Eddie than the others, but part of that is down to mixing their personal arcs with the 'relationship' arc which could honestly be its own section. And possibly should have been.

Every section here is compressed anyway, but part of this post's purpose is to be an organizer for my thoughts that I can add to and expand upon as more come during this hiatus (as relatively brief as it is, it will probably continue to get more and more brutal)

I can also obviously expound on something if someone wants me to...though I know that's unlikely.

Love Me Most by EiraLloyd (Post-S7E5: You Don't Know Me | 11K | Teen): Or, Eddie’s not impressed that Buck and Tommy’s first date was supposed to be dinner and a movie. He thinks he can come up with something more creative, and he takes Buck on a date to prove his point. It’s a fake date, obviously. It’s not like he’s in love with Buck or anything.

There’s something about the BAU that blurs the days together - the long hours and late nights. You’ve stopped living day to day and in bursts of three days, sometimes five if the case requires that kind of time. You sleep when you can, if you can. Some holidays you can’t escape from. Valentine’s is enthusiastically celebrated by Penelope, dressed entirely in pink and white, clasping a box of chocolate covered strawberries that she’s only too happy to feed Morgan. You fear when April comes around, Derek and Spencer’s childish insistence on fooling the other putting you on edge so much that you spend the day in Penelope’s lair.

Easter’s a new one, hosted by JJ and Will, which is really more an opportunity for everyone to day-drink while you and Spencer entertain Henry, Michael, and Jack as they hunt for chocolate eggs in the park, scrabbling on their hands and knees like dogs trying to remember where they buried their bones, and dragging the two of you along to help them. At one point, Henry insists that Spencer lift him on his shoulders like Derek does, just so he can search a tree, no matter how hard Spencer reasons that the Easter Bunny would never hide them that high up because bunnies can’t climb trees, but there’s no fighting a 4 year old’s will.

Halloween is the one Spencer looks forward to all year, the day he sheds any pretence of professionalism, and you’ve never cared much for the holiday since you met him - you’ve always dreaded the spike in crime rates that time of year. You don’t clock the year passing you by until then, and your heart always squeezes when he insists on spending his favourite holiday with you, but everything blurs together after that. Your family knows better than to beg you to come around for Thanksgiving and Christmas, too many years have passed for you to be any more than a distant relative who they call on birthdays. Even that has dwindled to a text lately, and you don’t particularly mind - you’d have quit this job a long time ago if it mattered that much. You have more peace of mind now, and the sting of disappointment in you has long since faded.

Instead, you sit across from Spencer in one of Rossi’s spare rooms, to get away from the noise and the hubbub of his party. In truth, it felt like any other day, Spencer trying and failing to get you to play any kind of game that you know he’d win for sure — “There’s no fun in it when you’re better than I am,” you protested.

“But the only way to get better is to play,” Spencer replied, a slight whine in his voice, slender fingers shuffling cards.

“My ego can’t take it,” you said, pulling your feet up. “Can’t we just play Snap?”

“No way, my hand went completely red last time, you get too aggressive,” Spencer complained.

“Crybaby,” you retorted, smiling at him teasingly.

”Said the abuser,” he replied, just as quick, but he indulged you anyway, starting to divide the stack between you. “I swear, if you hit my hand, I’m never playing this game with you again.”

”It’s hardly intentional,” you said, taking your stack. “You’re just slow.”

He does his best to not smile at you giddily, he just can’t seem to help himself. There’s something about you that makes the time pass quicker, that lifts his mood, makes him feel like he’s floating on air. He likes watching the way your brow furrows in concentration, the way your skin glows under the soft light, so he’s already losing the game, not providing you much competition. He supposes that’s the other reason you always win at fast-paced games. By the time he actually registers the matched cards, you’ve already slapped it, his stack growing larger as you both play. It finishes far too quickly for your taste, and you’ve lost interest, letting him reshuffle the cards. He watched you lean back in your seat, your gaze on his hands.

“Do you think in another life you would’ve been one of those casino dealers in Vegas?” you asked, and it’s something that’s crossed his mind before. If he didn’t have the IQ he did, if he hadn’t gotten into CalTech when he did. It wasn’t a thought he liked.

”I hope not,” he said.

“So, then what?” you asked. “A cowboy?” You remember overhearing his conversation with JJ, about owning some farmland and a couple of cows, which was ridiculous to you. He was far too obsessive over personal hygiene, and the lack of libraries would have horrified him. For a brief moment, you wondered what he might look like in a Stetson.

“Not realistically.” He focused on dealing the cards, trying to ignore your gaze, feeling like an insect under a microscope.

“You don’t think about all the different lives you could’ve led?”

“I used to,” Spencer said honestly. “But I kind of like this life.”

”What changed?”

You swear your heart stopped when he looked at you. “You did,” he said plainly, like he hadn’t just reached into your chest and wrapped his slender hand around your heart.

“Oh,” you managed to get out, picking up your cards while checking your hand wasn’t shaking, putting the scrambled pieces of your brain back together as you sorted your cards. It was a habit of his that was gonna give you a heart attack one of these days, how he’d say something so earth-shattering as if he was telling you the time.

“I mean, that’s how it works, right?” Spencer continued casually as he sorted his cards. “If the slightest event in our timeline had changed, we would never have met. So, in a way, the odds of us being in this room at this moment playing cards exactly as we are in another universe are so slim… It’s infinitesimally small. A butterfly could flap it’s wings and we wouldn’t know each other.” He looked up, familiar hazel eyes on you while you focused on your cards, trying to regulate your breathing. “You okay?”

”Uh-huh,” you managed, tucking hair behind your ear, staring at your cards. “I think I’ve forgotten how to play gin.”

Spencer’s eyebrows furrowed, trying to figure out if you’re acting strange, and if you are, why. His eyes roamed over your face, taking in the faint blush that rose on your cheeks. As he watched your gaze remain fixed on your cards, he realized what he’d said. It’d completely flown over his head – he was just stating a fact, after all. “Are you blushing?”

“Shut up,” you muttered.

“Oh, you so are,” he teased, setting his cards down and looking at you properly. You were usually unflinchingly quick, making him dizzy trying to keep up with the quips, so to see you blushing and fumbling was a rare sight. And the more he thought about it, the more he liked it. It was a new look on you, one he wanted to catalogue and study.

”Just… shut up and show me how to play,” you said.

He picked his cards up again, holding in a smile as he looked down. “Alright, I’ll go easy on you,” Spencer said, not looking at you as he rearranged his cards. You watched as he started to lay his cards down, explaining the rules as he did. He was being particularly patient, you observed, more patient than he needed to be, and you were sure he knew that you understood how to play. You just needed a distraction from the current rush of feeling in your body as you slowly recovered from his previous words. If he knew what kind of effect he had on you, he would be insufferable. You let him rattle on, nodding, trying not to focus on the shape of his mouth or the smooth timber of his voice.

And then you can hear the cheer of the countdown outside, the rest of Rossi’s guests, including your team, all gathered in his backyard, Derek and Will setting up the fireworks, and you pulled Spencer to his feet to watch from the window. Spencer stood next to you, his shoulder pressed against yours as you watch everyone gathered outside, counting down until midnight. A smile tugged on his lips, and he caught himself staring again as the countdown grew closer. 10 - 9 - 8 - He could almost hear the thrum of your heartbeat, 7 - 6 - 5 - He leaned just fractionally closer to you.You felt the shift of his body next to you as his shoulder pressed against yours, and you wondered if he did it on purpose or if it was subconscious. You glanced over, breath catching in your throat at how close he was to you. 4 - 3 - 2 - He could feel the heat from your body, just a breath away. You kissed him first, warm and soft, the whistle of the fireworks followed by a crack as loud as a gunshot, brilliant lights scattering over the sky.

A gasp escaped his throat as your lips met his, the familiar feeling of your body against his making him dizzy. He didn’t have a chance to react much before the loud boom of the fireworks rang out, the sound like music in the background of his chaotic thoughts. He’d kissed you before, he’d done more than kiss you before, but it still took him a moment to realize this was happening. His hands went to your jaw, pulling you closer to him as he responded, a shudder running through him.

You pulled away for breath, your hands at his waist, looking up at him. “Happy New Year,” you murmured, smiling.

He still had one hand on your jaw, breathless, heart trying to burst out of his chest. He was staring down at you like he’d never seen you before, taking in the way your skin glowed in the reflection of the fireworks, the shape of your lips, now pink and slightly swollen from the impact of the kiss. “Happy New Year,” he replied in a whisper.

I swear I saw somewhere on here someone talking about how much hermitcraft has grown and changed and the growth of Mumbo and the before/after of grian joining the server but I can't find it so I'll do it for myself.

Basically during the before Grian hermitcraft (keep in mind I only started watching in s7 because YouTube recommended the last episode of Grian's season 6 so this may be wrong) but during this time (s5 and before) hermitcraft was moreso a server full of different people doing their own thing away from everyone else and only a few collabs and server wide events were more rare. The hermits felt more like coworkers than friends.

After Grian joined hermitcraft started to change, more server wide events, the hermits start hanging out with eachother more, someone is always in the background of another's video. Part of this is also the change in style, Hermitcraft was trying something different with how they divided up the map and were making eachother live closer during s6. If you watch evo from grian's perspective you can see how he's very isolatey, same with Mumbo before grian joined hermitcraft.

Mumbo is my best example for this change. Before Grian joined Mumbo was more isolated and focused on doing things alone mainly (from what I know) and stayed more in his base. After Grian joined Mumbo very slowly started getting more out there in terms of how he interacted with the others. During s6 he mainly interacted with Grian and later in the season Iskall, barely coming around more for the war. During s7 he stays around Grian and Iskall, not really coming towards the whole server until Mumbo for Mayor. During s8 he has all of Boatem and interacts with Scar and Grian and Gem (a little bit) and he's a bit more out there. I won't count s9 since he was barely in it. But during the life series he definitely picked bigger groups than he's normally shown in. And now in s10 we have him talking a lot with Iskall and occasionally Ren and actually getting into the whole server wide events stuff.

Of course this could be attributed to any hermit but Mumbo's is the most obvious (as far as I'm aware) because he was more isolatey than most hermits even before Grian came around.

@zev-the-traveler Possesion and patricide, the perfect pair! So possession is also in the weird hazy Convex lore zone, but for a while the Vex masks possessed Cub and Scar to do their shenanigans. With that context they they end up possessing False by giving her one when she helps with a prank. Source As for the patricide, that's simple! Etho is Scar's dad in the Life Series and he murdered him all three times in Secret Life. Same for Cleo's final death! :P

Now, the one I'm most uncertain about is Oathbreaking. That happened in Third Life with the no-kill pass, especially with the Bdubs situation. That's a bit of a toss-up but considering how much they both care about keeping promises, yeah, I'd count it.

Ritual sacrifice!!!! Actually has happened like, four times on count lol. This man can NOT stop joining cults. There's the Convex Cathedral with blood on the offering altars, there's the constant boatem hole sacrifices, there's sacrificing Bdubs to the Moon, and most recently he's tried to sacrifice his friends to the Magic Mountain Bell!!! Or, well, told them they have to at least.

Ah yes, sale of human remains!!! He tried to sell Lizzie's spine (although it was prolly Jim or Mumbo cause she died in the void lol) to Joel. It's really wild when you look at it lmao.

Identity fraud is a littttle abstract, but he's worn so many random disguises and various characters that I'm almost certain there's some in there somewhere. Also, it seems pretty damn likely that Pirates Scar "murdered" S8 Tycoon Scar in order to get off the hook (pun intended) for all of his crimes.

I feel like i’m definitely in the minority here but if eddie actually has some sort of affair with the priest in s8 it honestly would take away from buddie canon to me…

like I know their sexualities aren’t about each other, but I’ve waited so long for buddie canon that I don’t want their relationship to begin because “oh we both know we like men now, we should get together” which is what it would feel like if they BOTH have sexuality arc separate from each other… and like it feels like it would go so against eddie to have him just have a random fling with a symbol of the religion that has been repressing him for so long… it’s not a fleabag moment, it’s not a ‘gotcha’ to catholicism- it’s a priest fetish and sexualizing eddie’s queerness rather than having a meaningful discovery tied to someone he knows he can trust which is a huge part of eddie- that he finds it hard to trust that people won’t leave him.

and to have them both date/sleep around before getting together would just make it feel like they are any other couple but they aren’t they have been dancing around and building up this thing between them for six years and to throw it all away just to have eddie sleep with a priest simply bc the fans think he’s hot just destroys that buildup and makes the wait not worth it bc that catharsis isn’t there… bc then it’s just another relationship for both of them that, yeah, may be their endgame one but it doesn’t set them apart in any way bc then they’re just getting together bc they’re both single at that point- there’s no buildup, there’s both release.

I agree with you! Though I don't think the priest is even confirmed to come back (but yeah, why would multiple actors follow him at the same time).

Honestly, I think Buck and Eddie's sexualities a little bit about each other, in a way that many part of their queer-coding comes from how they interact with each other. Also, everything we know about Eddie would make him having a fling truly out of character.

Also, there is no guarantee that we'll have an 9th season. Giving Eddie (or Buck) one more meaningless relationship as a "groundwork" for Buddie is just taking away chances to actually get Buddie. And I don't want that.

I also have multiple things against this whole priest thing that stems from me being Hungarian and having attended a catholic high school. All priest I know are homophobic (which is fair given the religion thinks being gay is a sin) or think engaging in gay sex is a sin (if they're a little bit more open-minded). I know the US has more progressive churches. And even without the whole "being gay is a sin" thing they have going on, they're celibate. One of the biggest think when becoming a priest of swearing off any kind of relationship (let it be sexual or romantic) and I don't want Eddie's first relationship to be some kind of hidden thing, he deserves better

3) I would say Rick's libido is around 5, I feel like he's the total opposite of Negan (who's hyper-sexual and jokes about it all the time etc. and claims to have a high sex drive etc.) I've never seen Rick do that in the series; when he's sad and anxious or alone (no romantic link with anyone) he seems to be completely turned off. I mean, dude spent like 8 years at the CRM and apparently he didn't have sex with anyone, or even kiss or date anyone at all, all he does is have romantic cheesy dreams about Michonne and that's it. I just don't give him a score below 5 because when Rick is in love with someone he can be really passionate, and it seems he's quite demisexual so having sex seems to have a very strong emotional / personal / spiritual weight for him and he gets more active.

Let's say Rick's libido can be absolute zero when he's alone and anxious / sad - and then be 7 when he's happy with someone he loves. But in all honesty, I don't think Rick is a sexual guy at all- I would say he's more the cheesy, romantic type. He's just...such a dad. He doesn't look at people in any sexual way at all (unless he's already in a relationship with the person and is just playing around), and he also hates harassment, he doesn't like being flirted with (unless he already has a bond with the person). I think he's quite the opposite of the "cliche sexual macho womanizer" that's very common in movies. Rick's very complex and sentimental af.

5) I think Rick is a switch. I mean, in the scenes with Michonne from S8 he...seems to roll a lot lol. I think he would like to give and receive honestly, he's too love deprived to try and do all on his own lol. He wants to feel loved too.

8) Rick is very polite, will swear only when he's very very angry. He tends to respect other people's spaces a lot- physical spaces and mental spaces as well- I don't see Rick being uncomfortable to others, he also seems to contain himself to not speak whatever comes to mind and he's very reserved. And I guess he expects the same from others.

spoilers below and mostly rants, so if you're up for that, read on!

My thoughts on the talent show.. of course it was boring. I just sped through it most of the time. Hamish looked cute with the dog ears, but hhh the dog training part was so weird wtf. I was so shocked like.. 😧😧😧 I mean I think the writers thought it was funny, I guess? I had secondhand embarrassment for Lyn and Hamish, watching it unfold. 😂

The romantic gesture was uh.. it was cute? But.. paper airplanes again?? Really??? And the stuff that LI likes about MC are uh.. I swear they're so banal. I think it was just the merging personality thing because if it was specific for the LI, Hamish's writings on the papers would be something about their whacky shenanigans like the popcorn thing, their random banters and MC being someone that he feels safe to open up to-- not these generic-ass compliments. But yeah, I guess they were lazy to write something that isn't applicable for ALL the LIs 🤷🏻‍♀️

Eddie is still Eddie. I ignored his stinky cheese hair in all the episodes.

Now, I have to talk about the worst part of it all. I don't wanna be fucking reminded of the Sienna thing. It's sooooooo lame. The devs probably thought "oh we're going to make it seem like the s8 thing again where the LI comes in with Sienna BUT the twist is it's actually BELLA who is just the host! No one would expect that! We're going to sUbVeRt their expectations!” All I felt during that part is please get this over with. I don't need this. Get me outta here. End my misery 😭😭😭

Though.. I kinda wish they revealed more about our LI's birth chart. I was actually very curious and that was the only thing that piqued my interest.

Welp.. at least my mc Lyn and Hamish are finally and officially together. That cliffhanger tho ahaha.. just let Lyn say yes already gdi.

It's Season Finale next week. After that, goodbye forever LITG. I still might think about you from time to time. I still might draw something when I get nostalgic, but I will stay away from the game for good.
