Childe knows when you're not feeling well. he's picked up on your habits, your silence- and if he happens to miss it by mistake, Foul Legacy sense it immediately.

Childe taps your shoulder, gently, then settles his whole hand when you give him permission to touch you. he tilts your chin carefully, looking at you, at your exhausted, deadened expression. Foul Legacy whimpers, and Childe frowns as he pulls you into a sweet hug.

Childe takes the day off, and you don't complain when he quietly asks if you'd like him to send in a letter of absence for you. he sits you down on the couch, thumbing gingerly over your cheek and holding the back of your head. tell him what's wrong. please. they're both listening to you, always.

Childe who wipes your tears away when you cry, murmuring soothingly into your ears. he's had to console his younger siblings before, but this is different. this doesn't come from nightmares or make-believe creatures that lurk in the dark. you've been caging in your emotions too long, letting them fester and rot.

Childe kisses your forehead, his copper hair brushing against your skin. one hand cupping your cheek is his own- the other is Foul Legacy's, wanting to console you even while he's not out and about. and they both hold you close, silently allowing you to cry as much as you need, because they want you to know that they love you.

even if the entire world hates you, Childe and Foul Legacy love you. and that will never change.

I just think everyone should take a moment to consider the question "what is your visual shorthand for cruelty?" and then follow it up with a critical "and who taught you that?"

specific examples include but are not limited to

why is an evil timeline character design disabled? (why do the heroes go through equally punishing battles and never lose an arm, a leg, an eye?)

why are the futuristic scifi terrorists uniformly darker skinned? (why are the heroes so much lighter?)

why is the greedy boss fat? (why are the heroes skinny?)

why is the criminal mastermind heavily scarred? (why is the brooding, traumatized hero unscathed?)

why is the predatory creep a bearded person in a dress and makeup? (why are none of the heroes trans women?)

who taught you that this is how things are?

how long do you plan on repeating it?
