Willow having “Will” as a nickname is actually so personal to me you don’t understand
#willow park#the owl house#toh#it's be funny AND cute if a feminine girl like herself had a 'boy' name or nickname#and it works well if you see her as trans#plus I think that's the only way you can shorten her name if you wanted to but anyways#also yes I'm distracting myself from all the angst we're probably gonna get in FTF and involving Willow so LET ME HAVE THIS

bee…… do u have any thoughts about fem prof lino??? pretty dr. lee 🩷🩷🩷
DO I HAVE THOUGHTS??? Oh boy yes I do. For full transparency, I'm planning on writing a longer version of fem prof lino so this ask isn't going to be very long.
also, I usually write for gender neutral reader, but this is incredibly self indulgent so reader is afab and uses feminine terms. that doesn't really mean that their gender is girl, but I felt it was important to note.
normal pourn warnings for pourn. also. pussy slapping. sorry. no I'm not. mommy kink. as per usual from tumblr user beesspacedotorg. once again, this is so self indulgent. this is so self indulgent it's not even funny. if you think anything here is weird mind your own business.
Anyways. Pretty Dr. Lee who always dresses so nicely. To be fair, she could show up in a potato sack and you would still have the hots for her, but that's besides the point
Pretty Dr. Lee who gives you permission to call her by her first name in private after you spend the whole semester quietly helping her during her office hours
Pretty Dr. Lee who takes a personal interest in your progression through college and offers to write you letters of recommendation for grad school.
Pretty Dr. Lee who had intended to wait until you graduated to make moves on you, but you're just so cute and so earnest that she couldn't help herself and kissed you silly against the door of her office.
Pretty Dr. Lee who lets you suck on her huge tits whenever you want, who fucks you absolutely dumb on her strap, asking you simple questions and laughing meanly when you can't answer.
Pretty Dr. Lee who grinds your cunts together so hard you're pretty sure you bruised your pelvic bone, but you don't care that much because you came so hard you think you blacked out.
Pretty Dr. Lee who comforts you when you don't do as well on an exam as you expected. And after you feel less sad, spanks your pussy red while you apologize for wasting all her effort on you. (she doesn't mean it. but it's so fucking hot you wouldn't mind that much if she did.)
Pretty Dr. Lee who introduces you to all her equally hot doctor friends and maybe shares you with them a time or two.
Pretty Dr. Lee who only raises a perfect eyebrow after you call her mommy.
Pretty Dr. Lee who whispers things into your ears that make it hard for you to walk in a straight line.
"Sweet thing, do that again and mommy will have you over her knee"
"Pretty, you're doing so well, hmm? So good for your mommy."
"There you go little cat, just like that, making Changbinnie feel so good. Just like mommy taught you."

You and Kita were waiting a few feet outside the cafe. You had your arms linked through his as the two of you waiting.
“Is she coming soon?” Kita asked you.
Checking your phone, you checked the time and saw it was ten minutes past the meet-up time, “She should be…”
“(Y/n)! Kita!” You both heard a sweet feminine voice called out behind you.
Both of you turned around and saw a young girl running towards you wearing a cute date outfit with her long black hair trailing after her. As she reached both of you she gave you an apolitical smile, “Sorry! I was trying to think of a lie to Rin.”
“You could have told me you were having trouble getting him off your back,” You laughed at her, “I have ways to make him keep quiet.”
“But then he’ll know something is up,” The green eye female pouted. She then looked at Kita and smiled at him, “It’s good to see you again Kita.”
“It’s good to see you again as well, Suna-Chan,” Kita smiled at her.
“Please call me by my first name,” she sweatdropped at him.
“Of course, Himari,” Kita nodded.
“Thank you,” Himari smiled at him and looked back at you, “so what’s the plan?”
“Since this is your first date,” you started, “Kita and I are going to spy on you to make sure everything is going smoothly. You remember the signs I told you about?”
“Yes.”
“Perfect!” You exclaimed, “If anything feels weird or sketchy, tell us and we’ll come and save you.”
“I will,” Himari nodded understanding, “but do you have anything to do to help calm my nerves?”
“Take deep breathes,” Kita said softly and saw Himari taking his advice, “you don’t have to be nervous.”
“But this is my first date,” Himari frowned, “what happens if I embarrass myself?”
“You’ll be fine,” you assured her, “just be yourself.”
“Okay…”
“Should we get inside?” Kita questioned the both go you. You and Himari nodded at him and started to walk to the cute cafe. Entering it, you and Kita gave Himari said good luck and went to a table as she went to a different table and wait for her date.
A waitress came to you and Kita’s table and take your orders. Right when the waitress finished taking your orders, a boy around Himari ages went up the table. Both you and Kita watched as Himari shy smiled at him and offered him the seat in front of her.
“He’s attractive,” you muttered as you saw a tall brown hair boy sitting across Himari.
“Being attractive doesn’t mean he is a good person,” Kita said as he stared at the back of the male’s head.
“That’s true…”
“Here’s your drinks and your cake,” the waitress said as she placed the items on the table, “let me know if there is anything else!”
“Is everything okay, (Y/n)?” Kita asked you as he saw you scrolling through your phone with a confused look.
“Huh? Oh,” you said looking at him, “it’s just ‘Tsumu blowing up my phone…saying he’s sorry?”
Kita nodded his head at you in understanding and went back to eating his cake. But before he could place the piece in his mouth, Kita looked over your shoulder, “Himari is giving us the sign.”
You quicker turned around, seeing Himari messing with a strand of hair. “That mean’s he’s funny!” You whispered to Kita and putting your phone on do not disturb.
You grabbed your drink and took a sip, happy how the plan is going well. But it was ruined all too soon when the cafe door was busted open reviewing Suna looking at his little sister.
“Rin?” You questioned, standing up from your seat.
“Brother?” Himari whimpered, seeing her older brother at the door.
“Atsumu?” Kita looked behind Suna, seeing Atsumu have a panicked look.
“(Y/n)!” Atsumu yelled out in panic.
“Kita?” Aran looked at his caption in confusion, trying to figure what was happening.
“What is going on?” Osamu asked as he looked around and saw everyone.
“I would like to know,” Suna glared at the boy sitting in front of his sister.
“I’m on a date,” Himari gulped, putting on a strong face.
Suna looked at his younger sister in disbelief, “You’re too young to date.”
“I’m two years younger than you,” Himari countered back.
You decided to intervene, slowly making your way to Suna’s side and gently placed a gentle hand on his arm, “It’s fine Rin, she was just getting to know him.” “You knew?” Suna looked down at you in disbelief, no longer having his usually static expression.
“She came to me and ask for help,” you explained, crossing your arms, “and Kita and I are watching her just in case anything happens.”
Osamu suddenly came in-between the two of you asking, “So you and Kita weren’t on a date?”
“No, we were not,” Kita said behind him.
Atsumu then let out a whimper as he said, “So everything was a misunderstanding? Perfect now let’s just go before anything else is said…”
“Are you and Suna pretending to date?” Osamu asked you, ignoring what his brother said.
“Why would you asked that?” You questioned, turning around to look at him.
Since your attention was on Osamu, you didn’t see Suna, and Atsumu’s face morphed into a panic, and Suna shaking his head no at Osamu. But Osamu didn’t pay attention to Suna and continued to say, “Atsumu said you two were faking.”
“Atsumu said what?” You said angrily, glaring at the piss hair bee.
“Um,” Atsumu started to panic, trying to look around to see anyone could help him, “it slipped out… But! Suna didn’t deny it! He told us everything and I mean everything.”
“You told them everything?” You slowly turned your head to the fox look alike.
“I um…” Suna hesitated, “that’s not important right now! What is important is my baby sister is out on a date and lied to me about it and you know and kept it from me!”
“She’s a big girl Rin!” You tolled your eyes at him, “She can handle herself.”
“You don’t have to worry about me all the time!” Himari said, standing next to you as she defending herself. “But what do you mean by everything? What did you two do with each other?”
An all-out argument then proceeds to commence. You would switch between yelling at Atsumu for being so careless and telling the secret, answering Osamu’s questions which you found weird since he kept asking if you were single and wanting to know why you and Suna did what you two did. You also argued with Suna, helping defend Himari with her date. Himari would switch between Suna and you, defending herself that she can handle herself, and questioned what you and Suna did.
Suna kept saying how Himari was still too young to young to date and trying to stop Osamu and Atsumu from saying anything else. Kita and Aran looked at the group, trying to stop the argument. Himari date stared at the group, trying to follow what was happening. The workers were also trying to find what was happening, gossiping with each other to try and understand what was happening since there weren’t any other customers at the moment.
At his wit’s end, Kita decided to take action into his own hands. “Enough!” Kita yelled, making everyone flinch at his hard voice and stopped talking. “Suna, Himari is old enough to make her own decisions and take care of herself. If something would have happed (Y/n) and I would intervene. Osamu, (Y/n) is single and isn’t daten’ anyone so please stop asking her those questions. Atsumu, you shouldn’t have revealed their secret. It was none of your concern and not your place to reveal they kissed and their relationship, there will be consequences.”
“You kissed my brother?”
“It was a moment of weakness…”
“Ew…”
“(Y/n), please go easy on Suna, he is only looking out for his little sister. But I will help you with Atsumu, he needs to understand he can’t blurt people’s secrets. I want y’all to apologize to the workers for causen’ a disruption and you will all write an apology letter,” Kita crossed his arms in disappointment as he looked at the second year and Himari.
You all nodded your heads and slowly walked over to the staff and apologized for causing the disturbance. The staff assured everything was fine and said they enjoyed watching everything unfold. You paid then paid for the food and exited the cafe with trails of apologies. Aran, Kita, and Himari date all followed them, saying their goodbyes to the staff.
“I don’t know what to say to Kyo…” Himari whispered.
“Go talk to him,” Suna sighed, “whatever happens, I’ll be there to support you.”
“Thanks, big brother,” Himari smiled and walked up to her date.
“Good luck,” you whispered to her as everyone watched as she went up to Kyo. You all walked a few feet away, wanting to give them their privacy but were still close enough to hear what they were saying.
“So…” you all heard Himari started, “wild date huh…”
“Yeah,” the Kyo awkwardly laughed, “wild…”
“Do you want to have a redo date?” Himari asked shyly with blushing cheeks.
“Sure, only if you brothers join,” the guy awkwardly smiled.
“What?” Was all Himari said, “My brother?”
“Yeah,” Kyo shrugged. “I was hoping to ask him a few volleyball tips…”
“What did he say?” Suna’s eyes twitched, taking a few steps in their direction, “Is he trying to hurt my little sister’s heart?”
“Rin,” you whispered, tugging on his arm and pulling him back.
“So you were using me…” Himari came to the conclusion. The boy then started to explain how cool her older brother was, wanting to talk to Suna about volleyball and not caring about Himari’s feelings.
“(Y/n),” Suna gritted his teeth.
“I know,” you glared at Kyo letting go of Suna’s arm. Everyone all glared at the young boy, walking behind Himari, and glared threatening at him. The boy slowly stopped talking as he saw a group of intimidating volleyball players and their manager glaring at him darkly.
“Oi,” Suna gritted his teeth, “are you saying you were using my little sister?”
All the boy did was gulped, too scared to say anything.
“It’s best if ya leave ya scrub,” Atsumu said threateningly.
“And stay away from her,” Kita warned.
“Y-Yes!” Was all the boy said before running away. You all smiled as you watched him running away. But the smile dropped when you all heard a small sniff coming from Himari. You wrapped one arm around her shoulder and bring her close to you as you said, “It’s okay…We are here for you.”
“Thank you,” Himari smiled at you and then looks at everyone else, “and thank you, guys…”
Everyone gave her a smile and a nod while Suna patted his little sister’s head. But the happy feeling was destroyed when Atsumu said, “Anytime! And next time if ya want, I can help ya make sure Suna never finds out. I’m good with secrets!”
“Oh really?” You smiled innocently at Atsumu. Atsumu let out a small cry, realize what he said, and remembered what he did earlier. Letting go of Himari, you walked up to Atsumu and patted his arm, making his flinch as the contact, “You’re good at secrets? Then tell me why you told them my secret?”
Atsumu let out a gulp, trying to avoid her eyes, but he suddenly thought of something and pleaded, “Kita! Help me!”
“I really liked the cake here,” Kita said thoughtfully at Aran, “they had my favorite.”
“That’s good,” Aran thoughtfully nodded, “we should come here next time with everyone else.”
“I agree.”
“K-Kita,” Atsumu cried, seeing his only savior ignoring him. Suna and Osamu chuckled at him, Suna already having his phone out to record the bee look-a-like being scolded.
“I’m waiting,” you tighten your hold on Atsumu’s arm.
“It’s his fault!” Atsumu pointed at Suna, “He was blackmailing me with embarrassing videos!”
“Atsumu,” you smiled evilly at him, letting go of his arm, “watch your back and just wait until practice tomorrow. It’s going to be fun. And if you tell anyone else… I’ll definitely kill you.”
“B-But,” Atsumu stared at you in shock, “I didn’t mean to! I’m sorry!”
“Anyway!” You turned around, looking at the time, “It’s almost 5… Do you want to go now, Miya?”
“Huh?” Osamu stopped laughing at his brother and looked at you, “Yeah we can go now.”
“What’s going on?” Suna asked, looking between the two of you.
“Miya needs some with figuring some stuff out,” you smiled at him.
“Ya can go ahead and go home without me,” Osamu patted Atsumu’s back.
“See ya at practice!” You said as you and Osamu started to walk in a different direction away from the group. Everyone wished you goodbye and then went to see if Atsumu was okay. Suna moved his hand in front of Atsumu’s face, trying to get a reaction out of him.
“Anyway,” Suna shrugged his shoulders, “what do you think Osamu and (Y/n) are doing?”
“Just admit you like her.”
“Didn’t you just got dumped?”
“Seriously?”
“Too soon?”

Will You Be My Friend?
warnings: none
❀ Jiho had a hard time finding friends outside of her company (2015)
The classroom slowly started filling with chatter that got gradually louder as the end of the last period was nearing. The teacher did everything not to show his mild annoyance at the children who stopped paying attention to him, but he also remembered that it was indeed a Friday and he wanted to go home just as much as the children that sat in front of him.
Jiho’s focus was still on the teacher as she jotted down extra information about their assignment due for next week. History was probably one of her least favourite subjects, but teacher Kim made it more than bearable. He found ways to keep things entertaining and even though his assignments were a lot of work, there was always a creative part to it. This time they were free to choose whatever medium they wanted to use to present a certain historical moment. Jiho hadn’t made her mind up yet on how she was going to present her moment, but she was kind of excited to be working on it for the next few days.
Once the bell rang, indicating that the last class of the day was over, all the kids jumped up on their feet ready to run out of class. Jiho who was following the class diligently until the bell signal started putting her stuff away calmly. She didn’t notice the pair of footsteps coming closer until she heard a chuckle. It didn’t sound like an amused chuckle though.
“Aren’t you training to become an idol?” Jiho looked up to see a bigger guy standing next to her desk with crossed arms. She locked eyes with him for a few seconds before letting out a hum confirming his statement and then continued putting her notebook in her bag. “Wow~ The nerve of this girl.” Jiho didn’t have to look up to know those words came from one of her classmates that stood next to the boy that spoke earlier. “Just because you are a pretty foreigner girl doesn’t mean you will become an idol. It takes actual talent you know?” Her voice was laced with pure annoyance. Jiho looked up to the girl and nodded. “Hmm. I know.” She kept it short and with her bag completely packed, Jiho stood up. The smaller girl scoffed at Jiho and looked at her friend. “All she does is study the whole day, this nerd doesn’t even have any friends and yet here she is acting like she’s everything.” Jiho rolled her eyes at the comment and made her way out of the room, but the girl halted Jiho by grabbing her wrist.
“Why are you here even? Don’t trainees usually study at SOPA? Are you actually even a trainee?” Jiho’s classmate kept firing questions at her not giving any time to answer. Not that Jiho was planning to answer anyway. The boy started laughing turning to his small friend. “You’re probably right Eunjae, with the way she’s always paying attention to class and has her nose buried in her books, I think this girl is way more likely to become a scientist nerd than an idol.” The weak insult had Jiho trying to hold back a laugh. The small girl scoffed as she heard the giggle leave Jiho’s lips. “What?! What’s so funny huh?” “Nothing. I have to get going though, thanks for the little chat.” Jiho smiled before pulling her arm free of Eunjae’s grip and leaving the room. She heard the 2 bullies yell out to her but she ignored it. “Doctor Jiho? Being a scientist? Doesn’t sound too bad right?” Jiho laughed to herself.
For some reason Jiho’s dorm was a bit further from SM than most of the other trainees’. She lived with two very nice girls. One was in her mid twenties and the other girl was 3 years older than her, being 17 (Jiho is 14 international age at this point in time). The oldest was an SM employee and the 17 year old was another trainee. She got along well with them, but they were always busy so she didn’t get to see them too often.
Because she lived a bit further away from the company, Jiho had decided to find a dance studio closer to her dorm so she could practise their on week days after school or whenever she couldn’t go - or is to lazy to go - to SM. So on her way back from school she went to check out the dance studio she saw online. With her headphones playing some of her current favourite songs she made her way to her destination. A few minutes in she felt her phone buzz.
From Doyoung oppa
“Are you finished with school? Will you be heading to the company now?”
To Doyoung oppa
“I’m going somewhere first. It might be too late to come over afterwards.”
“But I’ll be there tomorrow.”
From Doyoung oppa
“Okay, be careful and go home before it get’s dark outside. C U tomorrow.”
Jiho smiled at the message and then pocketed her phone, picking up the pace to reach the dance studio faster.
The dance studio was bigger than Jiho imagined it to be. That was her first thought when she entered it. Of course she was using it alone, so size didn’t really matter in the first place but having a bigger room that could easily fit a small group of dancers all for herself was a plus point. Jiho threw her bag to the side and twirled around in the middle of the room until she heard someone push against the door. “Oh- I’m sorry, I didn’t know anyone was using this room.” The girl said. Completely flustered at the sudden appearance Jiho bowed and apologised. “No I’m sorry. I was just checking out the room. I messaged the owner and asked if I could use the studio after school every once in a while...” The two girls stared at each other for a second before they both spoke up at the same time. “Wow~ You’re really pretty.” Their eyes widened and after a few seconds they both start laughing hysterically.
After finally catching their breaths both girls sat up from where they fell to the ground laughing just a minute ago. The were sitting just a meter apart and Jiho held out her hand. “My name is Jiho.” The girl smiled and took her hand, shaking it firmly. “I’m Ryujin. It’s nice to meet you.” “It’s nice to meet you too.” The girls talked for a bit and Ryujin invited her to dance with her.
They bonded over dancing to some kpop group songs and a lot of their other interests. “Hey Jiho?” Jiho’s head swiftly turned to the girl - who she learned was one year younger than her. “You’re really good at dancing. Are you perhaps an idol trainee?” Jiho gasped, shocked by the question. “Oh, yeah I am. I actually kept wondering if you are a trainee too. You’re a really great dancer as well.” Ryujin nodded her head excitedly and began to share how she got in to JYP after attending a GOT7 concert. Jiho shared her own story which Ryujin was so amazed by.
It was about 2 hours later that the girls decided to call it a night. It was already getting darker and it would be a good idea for both of them to head home. The girls waved their goodbye’s to the owner of the studio who was cleaning up the reception area and then they left the building. Jiho was only a 5 minute walk away from her dorm while Ryujin had to take a bus so Jiho offered to wait for the bus with her.
“I had a lot of fun today.” Ryujin beamed and Jiho nodded. “Actually Ryujin-” “Everything alright?” Ryujin’s tone sounded a bit concerned but Jiho gave her a quick laugh to assure her she was alright. “Yes, I just- See I don’t have many friends outside of school. Well I don’t have any friends at school at all and in my company I’m only friends with one other girl trainee and some of the boys as well. But I would love it if you’d become my friend... You know, so that I have more friends that are girls.” Ryujin smiled brightly at the cute confession. She pulled Jiho into a side hug. “Of course! Here save my phone number so we can hang out and dance more often.” The girl both eagerly grabbed their phones, happy that they found a new friend.
Jiho always had many friends when she lived in France. She was never the type to be shy around people, but for some reason when she moved to Korea things were drastically different. The girls she trained, even though they were friendly to her face, weren’t actually her friends. They were all training to be the best female trainee of the month, it was some kind of competition and even though Jiho tried not to be bothered it was a bit sad that the girls couldn’t seem to push their competitiveness aside to become actual friends. The only girl trainee she was friends with was her roommate. As for the boys, she seemed to get along with them better. It may have been because she had gotten to know and befriend Doyoung so early on, but she had already gotten closer to a few more of the boys in her company because of her outgoing nature.
In school most of the kids either looked at Jiho funny because she was a foreigner or because she wasn’t a very feminine girl. Doyoung had called it jealousy, but Jiho didn’t think their was anything to be jealous about over her. She stopped paying any mind to it though because she still had friends outside of school and she only came to school to study anyway. Well that’s what she made herself believe to not become to sad over the lack of friends. But now she had met Ryujin. A girl she genuinely clicked with so well. Their personalities matching almost perfectly, just being different enough to not get bored with each other but similar enough to not clash. She was so excited to tell her roommates about it when she got home and tell Doyoung that she “had found a replacement for him” already on the next day. That clearly being a joke because no one could ever replace Doyoung who had almost become like a brother to her already.

Askplosion #12 2/4:
.:New Miraculous Asks:.

Can people just STOP calling Marinette a "stalker"? Like, seriously? Especially TV Tropes. They have her listed under the trope for "Stalker With A Crush" and even have a video source of her(from Copycat) which was taken WAY out of context. They also listed her under "Stalking Is Funny If It Is Female After Male", which IS an existing double standard, but Marinette is still not an example and wouldn't be even if she WERE a stalker, because Wayhem's stalking actually WAS played for laughs!
Granted he was stalking another male and we don't know if he has a crush on him(but if he did it would be...unfortunate), but it's still an example. Plus, they claim that Volpina is about her learning her lesson regarding her stalker tendencies, but that no matter how many times she learns it, it never seems to stick. Yes, because everything is Marinette's fault and she's the stubborn shallow bitch who needs a kick in the ovaries, it's not, you know, the writers making her look bad/OOC!!!
THIS. ALL OF THIS.
Oh my god, I cannot tell you how infuriating it is to see “stalker” get thrown around like that. I would need two hands to count the amount of words that have lost meaning to me because people throw them out wildly and without any self-control. Stalkers engage in far more aggressive and obsessive behavior than Marinette, and usually also feature them harrassing whoever they’re stalking (such as calling them a lot), and they also never stop when they’re asked to. Marinette doesn’t fit the description of harrassment at all; Chat Noir does more than her and I don’t even call his behavior “harrassment” because that’s another word that’s lost all meaning by now and I wouldn’t use it in the first place.
Anyway, I think the Wayhem example is valid because Marinette’s crush on Adrien is written very much like a celebrity crush, so it’s similar territory.
On the note of “Volpina,” I do not understand it considering that Tikki was all on board with Marinette following Lila for the sake of getting the book back; that was one of the cases where there was an alternative motive out of just “follow Adrien” (which is not really something we see Marinette frequently doing; usually when we see her watching Adrien, it’s because she wants to approach but can’t bring herself to).
And yeah, most of the time, it’s just the narrative. The show basically puts it all on Marinette to solve all her personal problems (while constantly piling more stuff onto her) instead of getting active encouragement (no, eye rolls, verbal jabs, and groans do not count) from her friends and Tikki.
Like, what am I supposed to expect from Marinette when her friends still actively support Adrienette? By supporting Adrienette, regardless of the comments they make, they’re supporting Marinette’s behavior. Same with Tikki.

Have you noticed that with love interests of Marinette and Adrien, it's always the girls who like Adrien who are shallow, mean bitches and competition to Marinette(like Lila, Chloe, Kagami at first), while the boys who like Marinette are nice, friendly, and have no competition between each other whatsoever, sometimes not even knowing there IS competition(Adrien, Luka, Nathaniel). It's just really unfair and sexist because it's like girls can't be civil/friends and must fight over a guy.
That’s been a common topic of salt for a long while, yeah, I just don’t talk about it much.
It’s a difficult subject because I’m the type who can’t hold it against the guy characters (so I won’t dislike Kagami for “being similar to Chloe/Lila in terms of aggressiveness,” for example) because it feels wrong to, but I can hate the trend itself.
It’s also doubly unfair because Marinette’s crushes blip away quickly (like Nathaniel and Nino) while Adrien’s crushes stick around specifically to upset Marinette, so it’s like the show is saying, “if there’s a character who loves/supports Marinette, they gotta either stop or leave” (I’m pretty sure I got a “Didn’t Need Burrow” about the narrative sending Luka away and I don’t doubt it).

Personal Heacanon: Marinette and Chloé used to be friends until Marinette found out what Chloé (and Sabrina) has been using her commisions (mostly elaborate traps "to guard off thieves") for. This is why Chloé has it out for Marinette specifically. This is why everyone stood by as it happened. This is why she hates liars. This is why her "friends" are so casual at making jabs at her self-stem (they never believed she never knew what Chloé was truly up to). And also why Lila had it so easy at gaslighting everyone againts her (she's "relapsing" and it's easy to think she "deserves it").
Dang. That’s intense.
Yeah, Punch has given quite a few ideas about Marinette and Chloe previously being friends if I recall correctly. I like the idea even if I never use that kind of idea myself.

I feel like Adrien could be a really cool character if they focused less on romance? If that wasn’t his only motivation, and they developed his friendships more, and they didn’t have this entitlement. I also would like more actual friendship in regards to adrien & marinette? And him actually having interest in her but denying it bc he thinks he can only like ladybug. I feel like the sexism of the creators/writers are seeping into the character a lot and ruining it, too... It makes me really sad.
I’m hoping Adrigami will help adrien sort out a lot of his stuff bc Kagami doesn’t take any crap, and I actually really like their relationships, but I don’t have much hope. I would love for the show to use her and this relationship as a way to call out and develop adrien, but I doubt that will happen bc that would mean acknowledging his flaws. It’s just disappointing, really....
Yeah, Adrien could’ve been interesting, especially if they used Adrimi to its full potential, but they don’t. The show also has a history of letting Chat Noir get away with things and not punishing him so I wouldn’t be surprised.

Honestly, I don't even ship the love square anymore, but Fanon Adrienette is a thousand times better than canon Adrienette(the same goes for every other side of the love square, obvs). It's what the canon should be but we fans can only wish. Take, for example, the whole "she's just a friend" statement. In canon Adrien makes it because he genuinely sees Marinette as that and nothing more(which of course isn't bad, it's just sad when Marinette's always humiliated for the sake of getting his love).
In fanon, he makes it because he's actually in denial about his feelings for Marinette(which reminds me of a definition for "just a friend" on Urban Dictionary, which had Adrien drawing her name with hearts and flowers around it, and yet, when Nino asked if he had a crush, he STILL insists she's just a friend!), but realizes his mistake later.
In canon, Adrien thinks Marinette is Ladybug only because it's convenient for him since she's in love with him. In fanon, he actually does notice things about her that make her similar to Ladybug, and falls for her BEFORE knowing their identities because he sees the same qualities of bravery, strength, and femininity that he sees in Ladybug(I remember one fanfic where Marinette stood up to GABRIEL'S overprotectiveness, and Adrien could only admire how much she resembled Ladybug in that moment).
In canon, Chat is ignorant of Ladybug's feelings and agency and doesn't comfort Marinette when she's sad; instead, she has to comfort him. In fanon, Chat Noir cares about how Ladybug feels and values her agency, his jokes are genuinely funny(although canon Chat can be funny too, it's just the where and when), and he backs off when Ladybug is uncomfortable. In fanon, Chat Noir genuinely helps Marinette when she's sad and sometimes comes to see her just because, not out of plot convenience(and calls her "Purrincess" a lot more, why did the English dub just change it to "little lady"?).
It makes me think, maybe, just maybe, if these things were canon and the world was fair to Marinette, I might actually ship it; it might actually have a fighting chance against Lukanette and Adrimi. But while all these things are cute, it only makes canon more disappointing. Fanon is doing what canon should be doing. Fanon is supposed to build off of what canon gave us and expand on it. Fanon shouldn't create its own alternative because canon isn't giving us enough to chew on, it shouldn't have to.
Sadly, I think most of the fans, including the Adriennette-shipping ones, should be on some level in charge of the show; things would be SO MUCH better for the main ship(which isn't even progressing that far) and SO MUCH fairer to Marinette if that were so.
I feel this very much so. The show has been around for a long time and fandom can shape a lot of things. I think the love square wouldn’t be as beloved as it is if not for the fandom expanding on it and making it better (obviously, in some cases, they don’t make it better, but the love square is plentiful so there has to be some good takes out there).
Some shows do in fact let the fandom build off the foundation it makes and then you have things like Astruc outright lying and saying that Chat apologized in “Frozer” when he, in fact, did not, which makes everything more muddled.

What is your opinion of the Scarlet Lady webcomic by Z.O.E?
I’m not into the love square no matter how better one might do it (it’s been soured too much for me in the show), but I do get happy seeing Zoe’s art and wondering how she’ll change/expand on the plotpoints in certain episodes.

Something the genuinely scares me is how close some people’s predictions where for miraculous I just saw predictions people made for season 3 and it’s worrying that the worst possible scenario for them ended up happening beat for beat.
The show can be very, very predictable that way. The way I’d describe it is that I do expect these bad things to happen in really convoluted and dumb ways, but it still surprises me by exactly how predictable it ends up being. I mean, I catch certain things really easily and the phrase, “the whole episode just flashed before my eyes,” is something I commonly say.
Predictability isn’t entirely bad, but when the prediction is unwanted? Yeah, there’s a problem.

You could basically summarize the difference between what Miraculous fans want and what the Miraculous writers want by using the John Mulaney "Delta Airlines" bit as a template.
I had to get said bit explained to me since I haven’t seen that one, but yes, now I can confirm.

How do you think Chat Blanc would play out if Marinette and/or Adrien were already dating other people? Like if Marinette had already moved on, do you think the narrative would punish her for it?
I imagine it would have Adrien still be crushing on Ladybug and he’d break it off with this other person when he realized that Ladybug is Marinette, which the narrative would then promote as “the correct decision” because they’re soulmates and such. If Marinette has moved on, she probably won’t care about his advances, which would lead to Adrien getting upset and maybe being convinced that an identity reveal would solve the problem and/or speeding up getting Hawk Moth defeated/arrested.
Marinette would probably be blaming herself for not being “sensitive enough” to Adrien/Chat’s feelings, which is what led to him being akumatized.
I could also see the girl squad forcing Marinette to give Adrien the present similar to canon, but maybe the beret doesn’t have a heart and Marinette isn’t actually interested, but rolls with it because the girl squad insists on it (probably convinced that she’s denying her own feelings).

What do you think constitutes as a "strong female character"? Do you think the girls and women in Miraculous Ladybug are "strong female characters"? Why or why not(I'm sorry if this sounded like a school assignment, by the way!)? Because to me I feel like a lot of them are given depth and focus, but they're often forced into stereotypes, and let's not forget how the show derail's Marinette's character for a joke. But lots of people think a strong girl has to be boyish or else she's weak somehow.
“I'm sorry if this sounded like a school assignment“ dfhgkfdgfg
I guess it depends on what you consider a strong female character. Like, can a shy female character be “strong” if maybe she holds firm to her morals or can fight people off?
I think Marinette has the potential to be a “strong female character” but the show nerfs her using her crush on Adrien (which raises so many red flags that I can’t cover here) and all it’s really done for her is get her laughed at and humiliated. If her life didn’t revolve and get ruined so badly due to her crush on Adrien, I think she’d be a strong female character (I know what the Season 3 finale did but I’m not buying any of it until we see proper results in Season 4).
That’s not to say that characters with crushes can’t be “strong” but it has to not control their life. I mean... okay...
Would Sabrina be considered a “strong female character” if she recognized Chloe’s treatment of her and worked hard to get out of it? Is the want and attempt to move on from something what constitutes “strength,” or do they have to succeed?
My conflict is always... I want to give Marinette credit for trying to move on from Adrien, but I know that it’s just the writing trying to make things seem tense/strained just to make it feel “better” when they actually get together. You see it all the time in anime/manga where a misunderstanding/self-doubt ends up hurting the relationship of the main ship; it’s to force conflict and separation, giving the ship something to overcome so they can get together.
I will say though that shy characters can be strong, physically strong characters can be weak, and so on. What defines a “strong” character may be vague to me, but I take it as I go. I would like to say that Marinette is a strong character on her own because she wants to improve even if she fails, but I also don’t want to give the writing credit for something that ultimately means nothing. I want to say that she’s strong but the narrative seems to do everything in its power to tell me that she’s weak.
Let me give a non-Miraculous example: say that you have a pacifist character, but there’s a villain who has done terrible things, cannot be redeemed (plz do not swarm my inbox with “anyone can be redeemed” comments, this is a hypothetical), and any method besides killing them right there and now would lead to more destruction/lives lost.
You might say that that the pacifist character would be “strong” in sticking by their morals and trying to find another way even if they ultimately would fail and the villain would get away, but an argument can also be made that the pacifist is being stubborn and letting people die because they are unwilling to rethink the morality they’ve chosen. Is a pacifist a pacifist if they’re letting the blood of other people spill because they themselves aren’t willing to have the blood be on their own hands? Are they “strong” because they stuck by what they believe in or are they “weak” because they refused to expand what they believed was “right”?
You could apply that to Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender (I know he’s not female but stick with me here). He was faced with having to murder the Fire Lord to the point where a past reincarnation who was raised on the same values as him didn’t agree with him. I think it was acceptable for him to try and stick to his morals and find another way, but he came up empty and the show had to give him a way of taking away the Fire Lord’s power so Aang didn’t have to make that choice in the end (there’s also that thing with the rock to his back and having to give up Katara but we’re not getting into that).
People could argue that, “oh, he admitted to himself that he’d have to kill the Fire Lord and then he got the Deus Ex Machina so it’s okay!” but the problem there is that the narrative basically gave two options: Murder or Take Away the Guy’s Bending, but there was incredible risk involved in the latter option. Aang almost lost himself against the Fire Lord and risked everything so that he would not have to kill him.
I would argue it makes him weak. I would argue that needing the narrative to favor him makes him weak (which is one plus for Marinette I guess the narrative is usually against her???). The lack of ability to understand his past lives and see things from their perspective made him weak for me, as him holding so stiffly to his values made it appear that he felt his ways were “better” than everyone else’s (which had been a long-standing problem for me and I never forgave him for “The Southern Raiders”).

What do you think of adriens mom Emilie. Like what do you how do you feel she wound up using the peacock miraculous personally I’m leaning into her being a villain due to the fact that there aren’t any stories of a peacock hero (unless they retcon that) and that her husband is well freaking Gabriel who has no real form of morals. Also I can’t help but think of how they got the miraculous in the first place. Anyways overall what do you think they will do with her or think of her right now.
I see her like I see any dead mom in media (I know she’s comatose, not the point); a tool for angst. Her reasons for using the peacock could be anything (might even be that she was given it and simply wearing it was damaging to her, or she transformed once to try it out and that was that), but I just don’t feel strongly about her because I’m not invested in the Agreste plot.
Me personally, I headcanon that she’s kind of like Bustier where she appears good but is actually very damaging. Instead of the generic “good mom who tried to do good things for her son but folded to angry dad’s demands,” I would like to imagine that she’s selfish in her own right and was part of the reason for Adrien never going to public school; she’s possessive herself (a contributor to why the Agrestes are so wealthy) and wants her son to remain close to her even if she genuinely cares about him and should want him to be able to go and learn from the world.
But I imagine they’ll probably make her either “pure good mom” or “villain like Gabriel where she’s ‘sympathetic’ but also evil.” The show has never been good at doing gray morality (see my MC Audrey for example) and usually messes things up if they try.

Honestly, I don't like Mme. Bustier, but if they DARE pull the pregnancy jokes with her--and I don't mean "pregnancy puns", like those would be ACTUALLY funny without offending anybody, but "ooh, she's pregnant so now she's moody and has wacky cravings and screams at everybody and is a nightmare to be around" and other things that just scream "male writer who mocks female biology and doesn't understand women", I'm going to cry. We already don't like Bridezilla, and this isn't any better.
Ugh. I don’t even like pregnancy plots in general or anything related to pregnancy (my followers who have been around forever and know of my hatred towards babies: wow what a shock!!), so adding on “jokes” like that?
Hard pass. I already don’t like Bustier so the mere idea of her potentially getting any focus there--

What do you think of the Alyanette ship? Personally, I'm ambivalent to it, but I can sorta see Alya being bi and having a crush on Marinette but Marinette doesn't like her back. Or she could have a crush on Ladybug. But I don't like the idea of it being mutual, considering how pushy and invasive Alya is. It also doesn't make sense for her to so insistently push the love square if she likes Marinette. But perhaps that's where some of her sarcastic quips come from: jealousy(cliche I know).
I’m always here for bi representation (no one can take my bi disaster headcanon’d Nino and Kagami away from me), but I actively dislike the Alyanette ship. I was okay with it back in Season 1 but it started to fall off in Season 2 and officially die in Season 3.
I don’t judge people by what they ship (...much; there’s obviously that little part of me that can’t help giving the side eye) but yeah, not for me.

As a different flavor of angst: Can you imagine Marinette’s class going to Riverside park in NYC and Tikki spotting the Jeanne D’Arc statue? I always wondered what it would have been like for Tikki to see Jeanne burned alive by the people she swore to protect. I think Nobody briefly touched on this for Witch Hunter, but not many people I have seen (probably missed something) talk about it. What do you think?
I’m indifferent to past holders getting mentioned and acknowledged; not sure how I feel about them given specific names and such (I kinda like seeing their designs and such but making them actual people from the real world? mmmm not here for that as much).
I like the idea though of addressing those real world things and having the kwami reacting to them. Like, it did make me genuinely sad in the New York special to see Liiri come out and call out Gilbert’s name, only to see this other guy standing there and we know that this Gilbert guy is very much dead by now.
On a related note, I’d be all for a special getting into a kwami’s problem and not making everything Marinette’s fault, so having Marinette maybe helping a kwami through theri issues and it leads into getting more lore on the kwami.

I just had an epiphany today: People who hate on Marinette for being "mean" to Lila/teachers telling Marinette to ignore Chloe and Lila and treat them nicely are the equivalent of real adults telling girls who are being bullied by boys that "he does it because he likes you." Ladies, raise your hands if something like this has ever happened: "Jamal tried to cut my cheek open with a razor!" "Oh, Aaliyah, he's only doing it because he likes you." Now that I've seen it I can't unsee it. Disgusting.

Thinking about Puppeteer 2 and how Marinette's identity could have been blown if she had talked to Tikki because of Plagg's incompetence angers me beyond belief because I know, just KNOW, if that had actually happened, Marinette would take ALL THE BLAME for it like there's no tomorrow. It would never occur to anyone that she normally talks to Tikki while she's alone and had no idea that the "statue" in front of her was a real boy AND her partner, or that Plagg should have said something. Ugh.
I KNOW, RIGHT????
That was such a big annoyance to me in that episode. They literally neglected the actual reality of what would happen (”Oh, Tikki! No one’s here, I could practice on this Adrien statue!”) for the sake of humiliating Marinette... again.

Your comment about how Ladybug always says she's "in love with someone else", as if that should matter diddly squat when the problem is with Chat not respecting her feelings on their own without another guy in the picture reminds me of a #YesAllWomen post I saw on Twitter. It read: "'I have a boyfriend' is the easiest way to get a man to leave you alone. Because he respects another man more than you." It's just like this except without the dating and the fact that Chat DOESN'T leave her alone.
And then you remember that the “someone else” she’s in love with is the exact person who’s disrespecting her feelings and you proceed to hate everything.

The statue scene in Puppeteer 2 could've easily kept its humor by having Adrien fall over when Marinette puts her weight on him and almost kisses him, then Marinette goes "Gasp! You're not a statue!" Marinette is always being forced to humiliate herself in the name of "love", even when she doesn't deserve it, so for once, let Adrien be the one utterly humiliated of his own doing. Then they could have a sad scene where Adrien ACTUALLY comforts her and...wait for it...LEARNS A LESSON.
Alternatively, someone who works on the statues comes in and, also mistaking Adrien for a statue, tries to do some sort of work on him.

Since we can all agree that this show is sadly not very good at girl power/inclusivity, how would you tweak the show to make it more genuinely female-empowering/inclusive(can include racial/sexual inclusivity)? Besides the obvious(including more female and/or POC writers on board).
Orientation-related inclusivity isn’t even that hard. Have a character get a call from someone and just be like, “oh, it’s my boyfriend/girlfriend,” and then other companies can just dub it if they’re so afraid of characters who like the same gender.
Firstly, I’d have Marinette learn and become more of a mentor character to other characters (male and female), lean more into more “females in power” (like Mylene showing genuine interest in being the next mayor), either less focus on the “girl antagonists are evil/unredeemable” plots or at least make them legitimate threats that don’t need the narrative to cater to them to make them threatening.
Secondly, Adrien needs to STOP being the one to keep telling Marinette/Ladybug what’s right or the way to do things. I can’t stress this one enough.
Thirdly, maybe not having a season dedicated to three guys getting miraculouses while all the girls are either questioned, self-reveal, or get their miraculous revoked. That might help. :P

The saddest thing is that I can see ML going through a "Fate: The Winx Saga" in the future and having an awful, edgy reboot to appeal more to adults.

What do you think about the future Miraculous specials (Africa, Japan, Rio, Shanghai, London)?
Will be happy to see a new setting because it shows different cultures (though there’s always the chance that the culture is poorly-represented) but that’s basically it. Specials are usually just a cash grab that are just there and any expansion on lore and such is shunted to the side for the sake of love square drama, judging by the New York special.

I haven't watched the New York Special yet, don't think I can bring myself to tbh, but this whole time I thought Aeon was the name of the superhero persona, and that the fandom was collectively calling her civilian identity Uncanny Valley bc her model was that bad.
I was genuinely shocked to find out that her civilian identity is named Aeon and that her hero name is Uncanny Valley bc that is not only a stupid name, but kind of insulting since she's an android character of color. (Well, she's a character of color except for when shes running around as a pale naked superhero. Majestia, give your kid some pants!)
oof
Yeah, the Uncanny Valley thing threw me off too. “Aeon” really does sound like a superhero name.
I can’t believe they made her a robot and were like, “mannequin robot design.” I question so many things about the decisions made around Aeon fdkjgjfdg.

I was just reading your review of Silencer(which I totally agree with by the way), and when I got to the part about how Ladybug lost her voice and her powers are voice-activated, it got me thinking about how annoying Chat was being(as another anon noted, which I also agree with), and then it hit me. While it may just come off as his usual flirtatious banter that's innocent, the fact that he doesn't even seem to mind Ladybug not being able to detransform because then he gets to "be with her" forever and ever and ever amen just proves your point about Chat Blanc. He cares more about being with Ladybug than Ladybug herself, so long as she gets to keep being Ladybug "for him", that's what matters. Remember that the girl he fell in love with was the superhero persona and not the girl under the mask. He couldn't care less about who that actual girl is so long as she's his "lady" and loves him back. He just wants her to uphold the image of his strong and powerful "lady" that he admires.
(Glad you enjoyed the “Silencer” review! Thanks!)
Full agreement here! Chat isn’t really in love with Ladybug; he’s in love with the image he’s made of her and wants to keep it that way, no matter how much he may suggest otherwise.

Luka is soooo much more interesting with Marinette like, why isn't he the love interest? Same with Kagami for Adrien. To be honest it would be cool if the show set up the love square at first but then slowly started to change to Lukanette and Adrimi once Marinette and Adrien realized their crushes were just not working out. They can still have an identity reveal, but they'll refreshingly stay friends. But the writers don't have the ovaries to do that, I get it. -_- Such wasted potential.
They could’ve done a really interesting bait-and-switch but they decided not to. The love square is full of holes and flaws that they’re very likely never going to address (outside of anything used for that “gAsP maybe they won’t get together???” drama), so having it actually be addressed and be like, “okay, we’re better as friends,” would’ve gone over so much better.

I hear people complain all the time that Lukanette is toxic because Luka is merely the "second choice" for Marinette, and that she just uses him as a rebound when she fails to get Adrien's attention. But the truth is, that's not how it is at all. Luka's not anywhere near her "second choice". He gives her tranquility and stability, and she helps him loosen up and have someone to express his creativity towards. Plus, it's totally normal for teens to have two crushes whom they can't choose between.
THIS
ALL OF THIS
I am so tired of people saying that Marinette is “using” Luka in someway as if it’s a conscious decision on her part to take advantage him.
Luka makes her happy. That’s it. Luka is aware of how she feels and respects her space, but I guess that makes him a “pushover” and “he lets Marinette walk all over him” because he didn’t get upset with her and embarrass her in “Desperada” by calling her out over her Adrien blindness.

People who say "I like Marinette but she's getting to be pretty embarrassing sometimes" really don't get that the show constantly forces her into situations where she's embarrassed and made out to be incompetent. It's getting irritating to hear people continually rag on Marinette as if SHE'S the clueless idiot, rather than the writers.
There are some things that happen to her that she literally could not have predicted. Like, just saying, if I had someone claiming to be my friend, I would expect them to know I’m anxiety-prone and not pretend to be a statue just

You know, I find Felix/Marinette content to be really funny. Because, Felix in fanfiction is a completely different character than his canon self- with a different personality, background, and maybe even last name. So, the entire Marinette/Felix fandom is literally just Marinette/oc except it's always the same oc
I struggle to get fully behind Felinette because so much of it does rely on fandom interpretation and playing with fanon in general (plus, having to clarify “I ship fanon Felinette” is weird).
I do however agree that it’s interesting that it ultimately comes to a character built on fanon grounds, and how much more acceptance characters get when they’re based on “canon”/originally canon characters.

How would you write the Miraculous PV version? Just wondering.
I don’t think I could without drastically changing characters and at that point it’s not really the PV anymore. “Bridgette“ and Felix’s relationship is the exact opposite of what I like to watch/read about so yeah, changing both of them to what I like would either be too severe of a rewrite or me working too far within the restrictions set out for me.

Am I the only one who feels like Miraculous Ladybug is feeling less like a magical girl show and more like just another superhero show? This isn't even because of "girl power" or anything like that, or the fact that there are male Miraculous wielders like Chat and Carapace and(long dreamy sigh) Viperion. This is because the outfits don't really resemble magical girl outfits at all and, after watching various magical girl shows both in and out of Japan, Miraculous is starting to feel like its genre is shifting from magical girl to that of "superhero" in its broadest term. And I know I said I wouldn't bring up "girl power", but the fact that so many of the girls aren't treated respectfully by the narrative and are pitted against each other, to the point where they're more likely to lose their Miraculouses or reveal their identities(which often culminates in losing their Miraculouses), only adds to this because the Magical Girl genre is about female empowerment and solidarity.
It's sad because I really don't want this show to become one of those shows where "there might be one or two girls, and she might even be the lead, but it's still mostly guys who are front and center doing the heavy lifting" that we get all the time. Things are starting to change for the better and I want Miraculous to capitalize on that emergence of female empowerment as much as possible. Plus, with the New York Special, the magical girl aspects of the show have been toned down if not obliterated entirely: the transformations for the superheroes only last one minute, and they feel more like the Avengers than Sailor Senshi(which I don't mean in the most literal sense, of course, I am in no way saying that none of them can be male.). Plus they pulled the whole "Samus is a Girl" thing TWICE! TWICE! Come on, if you're show is really about girl power, it shouldn't come as a surprise when girls are, well...powerful! And especially not in Magical Girl for obvious reasons.
So while I'm not saying it's bad for a show to shift from the original genre it was meant to be in(although it must be done carefully, otherwise it looks like you don't know what you're doing), and there is of course no wrong way to do Magical Girl(except for Madoka Magica and Yuki Yuna, do NOT go there!), it does make me wonder. And it's kind of disappointing, because I really love Magical Girl and I feel like shows like these could introduce the genre to a wider audience and could renovate it as well. But unfortunately they're going a different direction, and that makes me sad. If not for the transformation phrases/sequences and the fact that they have animal companions, I imagine most people would be totally clueless as to how on Earth this show counts as Magical Girl. It still counts as such for me, but it's deviating farther and farther away from the genre to the point where it becomes nigh unrecognizable, or like even the show writers forgot what genre it's supposed to be. Sadly.
Yikes.
Yeah, I can’t imagine how seeing this show must be like for people that are more savvy with magical girl shows. Me personally, I had to be told that it was a magical girl show because it honestly just gave off the “superhero show” vibes even with the magical girl-esque transformations.
Plus, with magical girls, you usually expect a group of girls? Here, we have Ladybug and Chat Noir, who the writers keep being like “they’re equals” which... yeah, that’s fine but it doesn’t really work with the idea that this is a magical girl show? I mean, “Party Crasher” was basically Ladybug and her reverse harem of superhero guys who just got out of a “males-only” party.
I dunno, coming from someone who doesn’t have a lot of experience with magical girl shows, it just doesn’t have what I would expect when I think “magical girl show featuring a healthy dose of girl power.”

I was once reading this review of Miraculous Ladybug called "Miraculous Ladybug is a Hot Mess: A Rant", and while it's a good video and you should watch it and I totally agree with everything she said(plus, it made me laugh a few times!), I had a huge issue with the way she made Marinette's stammering around Adrien to be ALL HER FAULT since he's never mean to her and is always patient with her(yeah, more like oblivious), but that "she's incompetent" and "cockblocks herself", which annoys me because Marinette on her own is not the incompetent one here(I also don't like the term "cockblock", like, can we not? But anyway...), rather, it's the writers who make her incompetent for cheap laughs and don't allow her to improve or let anyone(but Luka, bless his kind soul!) truly be on her side. She then had the nerve to say "Marinette needs to learn to define herself outside of who she's crushing on", when, NO, once again, the WRITERS are the ones who define her by her crush on Adrien.
It's one thing to blame a character for something even when she's clearly written by a writer, because characters are supposed to be consistent yet flexible and have free will in-universe. But when she's written this inconsistently/it's obvious the writers have it out for her(to the point where they even say it) it is nigh impossible to pretend it's an aspect of the character herself and not the writers at fault. THAT'S where you draw the line between blaming the character vs the writer.
In fact, speaking of Luka, she also said that she wants the show to get rid of Luka because he's just a "plot device" and has no reason to like her beyond the fact that she's a "funny girl". She also said that Luka is a stereotype of the "cute bad boys who are emo", when that's blatantly untrue. She's allowed to not like Lukanette but all the things she's saying really ignore the point of his character and that his life DOESN'T revolve around Marinette; the writers simply don't respect him.
Even worse, she contradicted herself by saying that Lukanette is pointless because "we all know that Marinette is going to get with Adrien; it's endgame so why does the show even bother with Luka?" Then right after that says that Kagami's okay and that it's okay for Adrien to move onto Kagami because Ladybug has rejected him as Chat so many times(which is apparently not the case for Adriennette because "MaRiNeTtE's JuSt InCoMpEtEnT" right?). So teenage girls aren't allowed to like other boys or date more than one boy, yet teenage boys can date as many chicks as they like. Nice.
And apparently, any problem in a relationship or potential relationship is the girl's fault no matter what. She can't approach him because Goddess forbid girls not always be perfect and capable? She's incompetent and it's all her fault she can't properly talk to a perfectly nice, cute, FAMOUS boy. She rejects him every time he confesses despite him knowing it will fail. Her fault for being mean and not giving him a chance. She gets tired of chasing him and decides to look at someone else since it's not like she's legally married to Boy #1? She should stick with the original boy since they're gonna get together anyway. He gets tired of chasing her and decides to look at someone else since it's not like he's legally married to Girl #1? She should've realized his feelings for her and returned them since they're gonna be endgame anyway. Has this lady ever even been a teenage girl?
Plenty of teenage girls get tongue-tied around the one they love even if he or she is a perfectly nice, sweet person, it doesn't mean they're incompetent(especially when the girls are fictional characters in a world set out to punish them for not making progress and for trying to make progress at the same time, and the fact that the boy is a celebrity who is always made oblivious and kept distant enough from the girl so she can keep putting him on a pedestal and never truly get to know him). Plenty of teenage girls lose interest in one boy and so fall for another. Yet it's somehow only okay for boys to do it? Seriously?
And then for the episode "Ladybug", the reviewer continues to rag on Marinette, blaming her for the fact that her reaction to getting expelled was "I can't let that nasty Hawkmoth win", claiming she wasn't reacting like a normal teen or human in general would react in that scenario, completely ignoring the fact that it's TIKKI who doesn't comfort Marinette and forces her to focus on her duties as Ladybug and almost getting akumatized. She's right about the plot moving too fast, but she doesn't take into account WHY it's moving too fast, because the show doesn't focus on Marinette's inner struggle and what she has to go through. Instead of giving her time to process her thoughts after all that goes on and providing Tikki as a source of comfort and support(which she's, you know, SUPPOSED to be), they make Tikki berate her and force Marinette to push it to the side.
She's never allowed to feel. And that's why it hurts all the more when this woman insults Marinette for her perceived ineptitude, and she's fully allowed to dislike Marinette, critique her behaviors, dislike Luka, critique his role in the story etc., just don't reinforce a double standard as you do so and look closer: ultimately most of Marinette's problems are due to her not being permitted to FEEL. She's not allowed to be nervously in love, or be calm, or be offended, or be just not ready.
The writers keep pushing her in one direction, to be emotionless, to be selfless, to be nice, to be honest, to be "the mature/responsible one" to be a perfect little "Purrincess", to not push for or want anything for herself, even though the show is supposed to be about girl power! She does somewhat touch on that by saying that Ladybug never gets to "take a hit" and that the Marichat scene in Glaciator was too short, but she never goes into why everything is too-fast paced. And if she did, she wouldn't be saying everything she does about Marinette and Luka. Because Luka is more than just the "plot device" she dismisses him as.
He's like a calm oasis, the apple of the hurricane who keeps Marinette calm and just lets. her. breathe. He's possibly the only person who doesn't berate her, who doesn't mimic her, who doesn't insult her, who doesn't ignore her. And the one time he does, he apologizes RIGHT AWAY when he sees how sad she looks. And the funny thing is, I used to hate that scene, because when I first saw it, I thought "Oh man! Luka did the same thing as everyone else did once!" But now I see that it serves as a contrast, whether intentionally or unintentionally, to the other characters in the show. Whereas they never apologize for how they treat Marinette(and often she somehow ends up apologizing instead, sadly) and in fact seem oblivious to it at times or just don't care, Luka notices, Luka cares, and Luka apologizes. That shows that he cares about her and her feelings, unlike the rest of the characters in the show.
And while they do care about her, they're never held accountable for how they treat her. Anarka and Plagg are probably the only exceptions that I can think of(who contribute to the plot of course), but they're obviously not love interests, and the video doesn't talk about them, so I won't talk about them either. But my point is that this review, while good in other ways, is still problematic in this regard, for how it completely ignores Marinette's struggles and how they affect her, as well as the value of Luka's character(even if the show doesn't recognize it at times) and the POSITIVE effect they have on each other(especially since he actually, genuinely, wholeheartedly loves her and is patient with her, since Adrien is barely even her friend and Chat is pushy and entitled. And he has a life outside of her too, which this video chooses to ignore.)! So yeah, I'm sorry this took so long, but I just had to protect my favorite characters because that video did them so dirty. Thank you for coming to my Lukanette Ted Talk! Have a miraculous day! ;3
...Wow????
Can I just say wow??
Firstly, kudos to you for having the patience to not only write all of that, but simultaneous deal within Tumblr’s limitations while doing so? I almost wish I had a video detailing all of these topics (not exactly a video response to that person, but just detailing all of this without explicitly calling people out).
Secondly, I absolutely, 100% feel you on the double standards. I have seen so much hypocrisy in my experiences and it’s insane how people will bash Marinette relentlessly and then let Adrien off with a bunch of excuses, or hate Luka for essentially existing and then accept Kagami.
I also hate the idea of disliking Luka because he’s there to make Marinette feel better, and then liking Kagami because she causes conflict, like the implication is that conflict equals good and things that make Marinette feel loved and cared for are bad because love square endgame, I guess.
It’s exhausting, especially when Marinette is fourteen, clearly tries, but is getting no support. Like, have you ever thought how weird it was that Tom and Sabine seemingly knew back in “Gamer” that Marinette was crushing on Adrien, but in “Weredad,” they don’t worry about the fact that Marinette is into someone else or wonder what might’ve happened with Adrien, like if he might’ve hurt her in some way? If the assumption is, “oh, they just think that’s a teenage thing, flip-flopping between love interests,” well... Tom clearly takes what he thinks to be her current crush very seriously, and even if it was true that they presume she’s just flip-flopping, that really doesn’t show them to see Marinette as more than just a clumsy teenager-in-love stereotype.
So yeah, the characters who are meant to be there to support her ask no questions, but here’s Luka with his sweet “you can tell me everything or nothing, you can be yourself around me,” line, and yet... Luka is the problem???
Sure, how dare this sweet boy NOT cause Marinette more stress. He makes Marinette feel better about herself and therefore he’s “pointless” (which, really, is the true mark of someone who doesn’t care about Marinette).
Ugh.
But yeah, in conclusion, people can have insane double standards when it comes to Luka and Marinette, and thank you for the Lukanette Ted Talk, this was a really good piece! You have a nice day too! ;3
(note: the below ask seems to cut short at the end and I didn’t get a message back about it but I at least wanted to have it here so the anon has (most of?) their story heard even if I can’t properly comment on it:)

Relating to the ask about Marinette imagining the events of the series. For me it would be realistic as I sort of see myself in her position for some parts, especially how her friends are represent (mainly Alya) and I can see myself picturing the events of the story (surrounding them) to some extent.
I'm continuing on to explain and rant about how I relate to Marinette. So about Alya's pushiness with Marinette's crush and how she won't let her move on. I used to be sort of friends with this person and one day we hanging out at school and she started badgering me to tell her who my crush was, even though I told her I didn't have one (I didn't have one but even if I did it wasn't her business, especially because we hadn't really interacted for a couple years).
She pressured me enough that I felt the need to make up a person, then she called me out just after I did it because she knew I was lying but didn't realise how uncomfortable I was lucky we were by ourselves so no one could hear how embarrassing it was. It still is but I sort have gotten over it (that's why I'm hear complaining). For her being made to sit by herself because everyone else paired of, I can relate.
I have never been the person who is really close with the friend group (probably because I'm quiet and struggle to interact with others), but I still I hang out during class time, but there have been times when two of the friends sat together and the other friend chose not to sit with me but just in front of me (the tables can fit two people at them) until one friend I went to primary school asked "what about [me]", so them she sat next to me.
The person I went to primary school with also has chosen to sit with the person who was not to sit with me so she could sit closer to the other two friends diagonally across from me on the table next to mine. I can understand Marinette in The Chameleon for how she would of felt when her friends turned in because I am left wondering if my friends even like me, although primary school friend sometimes tried to get to wait with them when we were waiting for the teacher to show up.
As I mentioned earlier I anxious when trying to interact with people who are even considered my friends so I wait for them to invite me to hangout with them. And for the ending of The Chameleon when everything went back to normal, in primary school we had this task we were told research a person and write a biography on them so as the teacher told us we were writing a good copy and the work in our books was a rough draft.
I wrote the information down as I would the good copy to make sure I was happy with it. When we were writing the good copy, I started to worry I had done something wrong as I had seen my friends work and they bith had just written down the facts. So as my friends and I kept having arguments and fights so I told them that I hoped I remembered to spell all the names correctly because they were not names I was knew how to spell which was true so they didn't question it as I could tell they did

I genuinely don't get why people say that Sokka and Zuko are gay and Katara is a token straight. Toph is a lesbeen and Aang is pan; I have seen people be like: "Zuko is gay; Sokka is gay; Toph is gay" and I have nothing against it, but could you please consider the fact that Sukka is a better ship than Zukka (in my oppinion!!!) and that it is canon, stripping Suki out of Sokka's life leaves us with a sexist bitch and Maiko did happen, they were in love and probability still are; (it does not mean I don't respect your fave ship though; be gay do crime)
I headcanon Sokka as bi because he is very feminine and he is amazing and gentle and he just gives me that vibe, but I think he preferes girl more since he did in fact communicate with girls only and had like 3gf (Yue, Suki and the girl from Toph's metalbenders who isn't really a girlfriend but a kid lmao)
Let me stay with the water siblings: Katara. I generally think that saying she is a token straight is like saying she is firenation. (cs it's the opposite) Katara falls in love with Aang because of how cute and childish and nice he is. She loves him cs he is wise and cs he helps her as many times as she helps him. Think about this for a moment: what if Katara wasn't darksinned and wasn't asian/inuit, we have a white girl, ok and now tell me her sexuality... My friends in rl say she would be a 100% pansexual (or bicon) Why? Cs it just fits. They literally say she is straight bc she is inuit. Wtf?!?! (we aren't friends anymore :D) If you still don't see the point let me tell you that Katara is pan. Just. Pansexuall, and no this is not a pun, don't tell me that she likes pans because she cooks, grow up - that's stupid and rasist and sexist
...Toph, people often make her ether a buch le$been (this is a joke and you spell it ledollarbeen, I thought it was funny...) or weird straight but that is rare, and I have mixed feelings about that, Toph is blind, she is disabled, please don't forget that; she doesn't know what the people look like, she will have to fall for their caracter if she even was interested in romantic love. In my oppinion I think Toph is ether asexuell and bi romantic, or she is just bi. Please don't forget that she did in fact have a crush on Sokka and also had two daughters with two different men. That doesn't mean you can't hc her as lesbian. You can hc her as ace/pan/straight/gay/a melon/omni if you want to.
And the same goes for Zuko. He is interested in girls, he had Mai and he loved her with all his heart. Please don't say she was the reason he found out he was gay. Zuko may give you gay vibes (idk how but k) but he is bisexual or demisexual, it just. feels right; See... he is not pan... He just isn't.
Azula: She is, in my oppinion, a le$been but I often forget about... Chan... So a) she is in fact hella gay cs no heterosexuell could be so scary and hot at he same time, here Chan was her gay awakening or b) she is bisexual but with a preference for girls (you know 1% boy and 99% girls) I like a more :D
Since we're here let me continue with the rest of the angels (they are not Ozai's angels they are just the angels I don't know who had the idea calling them after Ozai it is discusting; if they needed a name Azula's angels is more fitting or the best one is just fire angels)
Mai is the bisexual/demisexual. She was in love with Zuko and they were and are in love (I refuse to be ive the shit the comics tell us)
Ty Lee is bisexual but with a preference for boys since she did like Sokka, and she liked the boys in the beach episode simping for her (untill it got to stressful)
Ok our king and queen. Let's start with Aang cs Suki is my favourite and I will save her for last. Aang is a cool dude. He is amazing and soft but also badass and sassy. I think that hcing him as pan or straight is ok. Because it both fits. I personally hc him as omni. With a preference for girls (if that's how you call it) because he did only have a crush on Katara the whole time
Before the grande finaly of my baby and the cutest person alive let's talk about the goddess: Yue for a bit. Princess Yue. The moonspirit. The imoral spirit. The one that sacrificed herself. Yes. Bi with a preference for girls. She would just be a cottagecore le$been if Sokka wasn't there. Like. He was the only one she actually loved. And being the moonspirit is pretty gay you know... Or pan. Bi would fit her more. But pan is also good. Since she likes Sokka cs of his caracter.
Ok the queen herself. Badass warrior, preasonbraker, feminist, girlboss and all the other good stuff... SUKIIII. First of all: Suki would be so gay of not for Sokka. She litherally dressed him up like a woman and kissed him (even Sokka sais it when he explaines the invasion!!!) But since she does actually like Sokka I was thinking about pan Suki. She would never have fallen in love with him if he stayed a sexist bitch. She would have just killed him if Katara didn't interfere. I just. The facs tell me that she is pan. But my brain tells me that she is bi and I constantly don't know what she is. Plus she is the she/they highness. (But I will continue using she/her :c cs not everyone agrees with that and I totally see it and respect it.) in ny conclusion: Suki is queer, she doesn't care about her gender nore her sexuality so she just tells people she's queer and let's them guess never telling them what she actually is cs she herself still hasn't figured it out and isn't planning to uwu
Oh wait my bad Suki's gender is warrior and her sexuality is adorable badass.
!This is my oppinion! And I don't mean to harm or hurt anyone. I used examples as arguments for why I hc them like that. If you hc them as something else it's totally fine. I support it! (just not straight Katara, lmao)
(PS: Please tell me if I was/am disrespectful to any culture or rasist in any way!!!!)
#I planned on ordering everyone: the most problematic ones are first and the others come later but I sarted with Sokka because many people#won't read a post if it startes with a female caracter of someone they don't like. Oh and there's no order. Suki is last cs she is amazing#and I had to think less about her.#sokka#katara#toph#zuko#azula#mai#tylee#aang#yue#suki#kataang#sukka#maiko#sutara#sukitara#yueki#yuetara#zukaang#maiki#mailee#maizula#tyzula#katoph#princess yue#avatar the last airbender#atla#qwq

I have yearned for you (and I still do)
Summary: “There’s an irony, she thinks, to the situation they find themselves in now - he, the man who has it all together, and her, an increasingly hot mess.” Sometimes the things you need are right back where you started from. ~10.6k. Rated T for language. Also on Ao3.
~~~~~~~~~~
A/N: For @welllpthisishappening, who doesn’t want to talk about the revival, and @snidgetsafan, who does. Behold: my pining-type thoughts! Thanks for your patience and encouragement as I stressed over this instead of working on my WIPs.
Post-revival, if that’s an issue for anyone. Title from a Frank Turner song yet again, because that’s how I roll. Extra thanks to L for her beta skills.
Enjoy, and let me know what you think!
~~~~~~~~~~~
Jess is the one who comes up with her name. In retrospect, that was probably a sign.
Actually, that’s not entirely true. From the moment the sonogram tech had announced congrats, it’s a girl , it had kind of been a done deal that she would be another Lorelai. Something something tradition. But with the reigning Lorelai still alive and well and so obviously having dibs on the full name, it’d been obvious that some sort of nickname was going to come into play.
There’d been a suggestion box in the diner after no small amount of twisting Luke’s arm, suggestions of how the heck they were supposed to shorten Lorelai, and then a follow-up poll of the options Rory had actually liked (because she was not calling the kid “Loreo, like Oreo!”, thank you, Cesar). It’d been nice, actually, and a good way to channel the collective energy of the denizens of Stars Hollow without being stopped on the street every three minutes when her feet already hurt like hell.
Anyways. In the polling, “Elle” had won, and Rory had actually really liked it. Something the kiddo had a chance to grow into - feminine, delicate yet strong, a name that would fit a little girl or a grown adult. And, c’mon - in the Gilmore household, they’ve always liked Legally Blonde anyways. There’s worse role models than Reese Witherspoon being unapologetically herself.
But.
The thing is, as much as Rory had though it was cute back when the kid was an unrealized idea, just a little mooch taking her energy and appetite for normal things, it’s a very different thing to hold her baby for the first time - her tiny girl, here and screaming and with wisps of the softest blonde hair. And she just can’t do it. It feels too on the nose, to call this little blonde baby Elle - like she’s about to doom this tiny person to a lifetime of not being taken seriously. She deserves better than that.
She doesn’t go nameless; it’s easy to fill out the birth certificate Lorelai Richard Gilmore , even if the nurse casts a funny look at the choice of middle name. She’s never been a staunch traditionalist anyways, and Rory had wanted to honor her grandfather regardless if the baby had been a boy or a girl. He would have loved having a great-granddaughter to spoil in the way he and Grandma had been denied when she was a baby - and besides, even if Emily shakes her head about the unconventional choice, it makes her smile fondly too.
Still - there’s a difference between what someone is named and what someone is called, and the latter for the youngest Lorelai is still a great big question mark. Rory runs back through the list of runners up, but nothing fits .
“I was supposed to have this figured out by now,” she whines to Jess when he drops by to visit and meet the baby. He’s been a huge help as she tries to write her book, and after years of awkward “what the hell even are we”, Rory feels like they’re finally back in a good place, back to being friends. She likes being friends, like him being one of her people again, even if the 2nd trimester horniness and wanting to jump his bones never really went away. But she’s not really in a place to think about that right now. “Aren’t I supposed to be able to just, like, look at her and know what her destined name is supposed to be?”
“Yes, because motherhood automatically grants mystical powers,” he replies wryly. “I think that whole thing is a myth, Gilmore.”
He looks good holding a baby - surprisingly comfortable too. It makes her realize, not for the first time, that he built himself a whole life she doesn’t know about while she ran around the world, trying to figure out what would make her happy - a life with a business and a purpose and probably friends with kids. Not at all the boy she met more than a decade ago.
(It is something she tries not to focus too much on, for fear of where it might lead - to the realization that she may not really know him at all, or more dangerously, the realization that she wants to.)
“Ivy,” he says out of nowhere. “You should call her Ivy.”
“Ivy?” It hadn’t been one of the names any suggested before, but in a weird way, it fits. Something soft and strong and neutral, a name that could become anything. A name she can make her own.
“Yeah. I mean, she’s Lorelai the fourth, right? Lorelai the fourth. Lorelai I-V. Ivy.”
And it’s - well, the name is so right, but the logic behind it is so Jess. Because he’s always been clever like that - not even aware that there’s a box he’s thinking outside of. She likes, too, that now that he’s made the suggestion, he doesn’t try to backtrack or explain anything away, try to tell her she doesn’t have to listen. He knows she knows that. Jess has never been one to fill a silence just because it exists.
“I like that,” she finally says. “Ivy Gilmore.”
“Then congratulations - it’s a name.”
———
Telling Logan had been hard - harder than making herself take the test, harder than telling her mom. Because they’re not an item anymore, you know? They’ve gone their separate ways, ended whatever dynamic they’ve had going the last couple of years, and under normal circumstances, it would be easier to keep her distance. No contact, end it all firmly and definitively and for good .
A baby complicates that, and throws that possibility straight out the window.
She can’t really say she’s disappointed in Logan’s response, not when it plays out pretty much exactly the way Rory assumed it would. Nothing changes; they don’t get back together, and he doesn’t leave the French heiress. Rory isn’t certain she’d want either of those things anyways. He’d offered to support her in whatever decision she made, and that was more or less it. He’s never been great with emotions, and having a kid doesn’t show signs of changing that.
(Rory hadn’t expected him to be a hands-on partner in this - not even remotely - but it still aches, knowing this is the beginning of what will be a pattern in their child’s life.)
Now, all these months later, Rory texts him a picture from the hospital once the parade of visitors has gone home. Even in the midst of that disappointment, he deserves to know.
Lorelai Richard Gilmore IV. 7 lbs, 2 oz. We’re calling her Ivy.
His reply comes through a half hour later. Congrats, Ace - she’s beautiful, just like her mother.
(She’ll never admit it later - but when she receives his response, it takes everything in her not to cry.)
———
It’s nerve-wracking, bringing Ivy home from the hospital and back to her mom’s house - like Rory shouldn’t be trusted to leave with such precious cargo. The hospital had been safe , and the big wide world out there feels full of dangers as she carefully steps out into the June sunshine, the baby carrier in hand. It’s this moment, of all times, that makes Rory feel like a parent for the first time - like it’s her sole job to protect and nurture this tiny person that she made.
Lorelai and Luke’s is just a temporary stopping place, just until Rory can get her feet beneath her in this whole motherhood thing. It’s terrifying, knowing that she’ll have to be doing this on her own soon enough. She’s taken the classes and read countless books and websites, but it’s a very different thing once you’re handed a tiny, wrinkly baby and are expected to figure it out.
“How did you do it?” she asks her mom that first night, sitting in the kitchen together while Ivy nurses and Luke’s asleep upstairs. “I mean, I don’t know what the hell I’m doing, and I’m in my thirties. You were sixteen .”
“I did it because I had to, babe,” her mom replies, reaching across the table to tuck a lock of hair back behind Rory’s ear. “I knew I wanted to give you the best life I could, so… I had to figure it out. Looking back now, Mom and Dad would have helped, and they tried, but I didn’t want that. I mean, we’re okay-ish now, but I didn’t want you growing up under the same pressure I did. So I went out and figured it out because I had to. You were the making of me, kiddo. And I’ll tell you now - that kid’s going to change you in ways you can’t even imagine now. And it’ll all be worth it.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. I look at you every day, and I’m so proud - and I made that. Pretty cool, huh? And each day as she gets older, you’re going to get to do that too. You’ll figure this out. I know you will. You’re going to be a great mom.”
By the time Lorelai is done, Rory feels tears trying to form in her eyes. Something something hormones. “Thanks, mom.”
“Anytime, hon.”
———
She’s living in Luke’s old apartment above the diner. It’s the illusion of independence - it doesn’t feel like she’s living with her mother any more, especially now that she’s got a kid of her own, but she’s not paying rent either (no matter how much she had offered). The truth of the matter is that, except for Ivy’s things, she’s living out of boxes. There hadn’t been any sense to staying in New York, not when her income stream is so up in the air; besides, as much as Rory had loved the city for herself, she isn’t sure she’d want to raise her daughter there. Stars Hollow may be a bit loony, like a place out of a YA coming-of-age novel, but there’d been love in every single corner. She’d wanted that for Ivy, even when she was just two lines on a test stick - to grow up with this whole zany extended family. Rory’s own blood family is tiny, and even if Logan was eager to be involved, his isn’t much bigger; Ivy can use all the proto-aunts and -uncles and -grandparents she can gather.
(Rory does feel some guilt on the rent front, but Luke wouldn’t hear of it. He’d waved it off in that grumpy way of his, some excuse about being too old to have a crying infant disturbing their sleep in the Queen Anne where Rory had grown up, but she remembers the way Luke had once called her a little bit his . This is his way of quietly looking after his grown almost-daughter - and looking at it like that, there’s no way she’d turn down the offer.)
(She knows for certain it’s all an excuse after Ivy is born, when Luke turns into every inch the doting grandfather, bouncing and cooing at the baby every time she expresses even the mildest displeasure. Too old for crying infants , her ass.)
The apartment is the same as ever, from the block letters on the door to the dark wood furniture inside. Honestly, it looks like the only thing Luke has updated in the past decade was replacing the refrigerator, and Rory doubts that was just on a whim. There’s a comfort to that same-ness - of knowing that some things never change, and don’t have to. She has so many memories up here, especially from that period when she and Jess had been dating. The blankets on the spare bed are different now - lavender and spring green for April, instead of the bachelor plaids Luke had scrounged up when Jess had moved in - but the couch is the same, and the kitchen table where they’d pretended to study, and the tiny closet of a bathroom where she’d try desperately to straighten her hair before heading home. A simpler time, in some ways - but a more complicated one too. Rory had been the town princess then, the perennial good girl , and for all of his brains and sarcastic charm, Jess had been a mess in many ways. Now, things are a bit more grey - where Rory doesn’t quite have her act together, and Jess is the one with a life and a career and a calling. She’s proud of him in so many ways, but it leaves her feeling off balance, and as much of that is about her own adrift state, there’s no denying that part of it is about this unexpected reversal. So much will never change in Stars Hollow - but somehow, this has.
———
Logan finally comes stateside, to Stars Hollow, when Ivy is a little over five weeks old.
They meet at the Dragonfly, because it seems the most neutral spot. Lorelai may have capital-o Opinions, but she’ll keep them to herself if Rory asks, and it’s still better than pulling him through the diner up to the apartment, where overprotective townies will glare and Kirk might try to challenge him to a duel for her honor or something. No one ever knows with Kirk.
Logan meeting Ivy is… he makes all the right moves in the moment, you know? He smiles and bounces her and looks at her like some sort of precious mystery. But Rory can see too, already, from years of experience, that he’s got the makings of another Christopher. As much as she knows that he’ll love the kid they made, and do his best to take care of her, he’s not ready, and Rory can’t force him to be. Even in his thirties, Logan has a lot of growing up to do.
“I went ahead and set up a fund for her college,” he makes sure to say before he departs, flying out of Boston that very afternoon to take care of some business in LA, “but you’ll let me know if she needs anything, right Ace? Or if you do?”
“I promise. Scout’s honor, cross my heart.”
“She really is beautiful, Rory. Thanks for this - letting me be a part of it.”
And then, before she knows it, he’s gone.
(She’ll never regret the times they were together, not when it brought her their daughter, but Ivy has made it all too obvious why they never would have lasted. Rory has long since stopped wondering what things would have been like if she had said yes, all those years ago when Logan had proposed. This is proof enough - a life spent hoping for something he’s not willing or able to give, and watching him climb onto an airplane over and over again.)
(In some moments, Rory almost thinks Logan’s absence is for the best when she remembers the utter horror that is his family - the way his mother doesn’t care about anything but her creature comforts, and Mitchum doesn’t care about anything but himself and his impossible standards. Rory may feel guilty about it, but sometimes, she’s relieved that Logan’s absence means that Ivy will never have to face their condescension the way Rory had to with Straub and Francine. It is a small blessing to be found in the tragedy that she’s afraid Logan’s involvement, and lack thereof, will turn into.)
When Jess comes by later to talk about the book and probably watch a movie, he finds her crying in the kitchen, trying to keep quiet so as not to wake Ivy. He pulls her into his arms seemingly without a second thought, and Rory lets herself melt into the hug, just for the moment.
“It’s leftover hormones,” she tries to excuse, but they both know better. They’re both products of absentee fathers, after all, both know the ways that can shape a child. Jess knows full well what happened today; it’s probably why he’s here tonight, to pull her from the worst of her self pity. They both know her tears aren’t for herself, for the death of a relationship that’s long since ended; they’re for Ivy, and a relationship that maybe won’t start.
“She won’t be alone,” he makes sure to tell her once Rory’s calmed down enough to be rational. “I mean, even beyond you and your mom and Emily, there’s Luke and Lane’s husband and a whole host of other guys who can step up. Hell, Kirk in all his weird glory has probably got some qualification to adopt her. And you know I’ll be here, as long as you want me to be.”
“Yeah?” Rory’s throat is still clogged, but she’ll take it as a win that she didn’t sniffle. It’s too significant a moment to mar that way.
“What can I say, she’s cute enough to hold my attention.”
“You always were a sucker for a Gilmore,” she laughs, trying to lighten the mood.
“Yeah, well, someone’s got to make sure you’re aware vegetables exist.”
And just like that, even as Rory’s tears are still dissipating, the mood is lifted into safer territory. That’s Jess, though, isn’t it? All that emotion, hidden behind a front of sarcasm. After all of the mistakes of his youth, he’s grown into a man people can count on; he’s proved that these last couple years, as Rory has found herself floundering.
They’ll be lucky to have him in their lives.
———
After that last night on the town with Logan and his friends, Rory expected to never see any of the members of the Life and Death Brigade again. They’ve had their fun together, over the years; Rory will certainly never forget all the crazy shenanigans they all got up to together. But as much as she’s enjoyed their time together, those have always been more Logan’s friends than her own.
It comes as a surprise, then, when all of them - Finn and Colin and Robert, the three musketeers or three amigos - all make a point to call and text and, eventually, drop by. They’re a little fascinated by the baby, this sudden proof that someone in their sphere really has grown up. As nervous as it makes her at first, to let these crazy, careless men sit in the diner and take a turn carefully holding Ivy, it’s cute and funny to see the way they handle her like some kind of unknown, volatile science experiment.
It’s funny, really, how differently they all react to the various daddy issues in their life. With Logan, it’s made him eager to live up to Mitchum’s impossible standards, no matter how much he tries to claim otherwise. With the rest of the Brigade, it’s somehow had the opposite effect. They all run away from responsibility whenever it gets too close, and Rory isn’t remotely in denial about that, but they’re somehow desperate to love and be loved, too, all of them. They’ll never be the guys she calls for babysitting, not if she wants Ivy back in one piece, but Rory thinks they could be the fun uncles instead - not a constant presence in Ivy’s life, but the kind of figures who will send a dozen roses and maybe a singing telegram to a kindergarten graduation or gift an impractical car for her sixteenth birthday.
(And in the empty space Logan seems determined to leave - Rory will take whatever she can get.)
———
Jess has been around a lot more than Rory anticipated, really. It’s not that he’s stayed away from Stars Hollow in past years; his life may be based in Philadelphia now, what with Truncheon and all, but she knows he’s made a point to drive up a couple of times a year to see Luke and Liz and his little sister, Doula. Since Rory’s come back to town, though, he seems to be around at least once a month - checking in, offering support with the book or anything else, and generally being a friend. It’s not something Rory’s particularly inclined to question, happy just to have him back in her life, but it doesn’t go unnoticed, either.
“He’s been around a lot,” Luke comments pointedly. “Know anything about that?”
“He’s helping with the book,” Rory explains wearily. It’s an explanation she’s made a lot of times, to a lot of people, though she never figured Luke - level-headed Luke, who usually runs from gossip and emotions like an Olympic sprinter - would be one of them.
“Whatever you say, Rory.”
Only the delivery of her burger had stopped a full-blown debate - something Luke had likely known. You don’t live with a Gilmore Girl for a decade without picking up a few tricks.
(She’s trying not to read too much into it - the way he keeps showing up to sit in an empty desk at the Gazette office and listen to her talk until she works out her own writing blocks - but others apparently don’t have that same compunction. Then again, Luke has never been called subtle .)
By the time Ivy is born, Rory thinks the book is maybe two-thirds of the way done, thanks in large part to Jess’ encouragement. At least halfway, for sure. It’s a different kind of writing than she’s used to, after years of news articles and five-page magazine spreads, but it’s the good kind of challenge. There are days the words just flow out of her, memory mixing with prose to create something wonderful, and there are days she stumbles more. The personal nature of the project accounts for most of her hold-ups. Rory knows what makes for a good story, what will best illustrate the points she’s trying to get across, but it’s about her , and her mom, and all the other people in this crazy town that she loves. There’s not the same distance that she might find if she was writing about post-apocalyptic teens, or whatever other kind of fiction is in vogue these days.
“Why did I decide to do this?” Rory groans, sitting on the couch in the apartment with Jess and her laptop, watching as Ivy pedals her arms and legs on her playmat on the floor. “Why did you talk me into writing this? This is your fault, you know.”
“Yes, I’m an evil genius forcing you to write a book. Absolute cruelty,” he snarks back. “Talk to me again tomorrow or next week when you figure out what needs to change for your current hurdle to make sense.”
“Why do you have to be the voice of reason?”
Jess’ face is unusually earnest when he turns to look at her - or as least as earnest as Jess ever gets. “Because I know you can do this, Rory. You might be the most determined person I know - if you want to write a book, it’s going to happen. I’m just here to listen to you whine until you’re ready to get back to the grindstone.”
“An invaluable service, really.”
“Damn straight. I’m an expert in that field.”
And he’s right - because a few days later, Rory busts through her block and gets back to flying through sentences and paragraphs.
(She’d tell him what that kind of encouragement does for her - but then again, he probably already knows.)
———
Rory doesn’t have a regular job, per se, at least not right now; Ivy takes up so much of her time, and in between she’s desperately trying to put her book down on paper. She’s still the editor and primary contributor of the Stars Hollow Gazette, but it’s hard to call that steady work. There’s not enough going on in this little town for that, and most months accounts of the latest town meetings and whatever festival or fundraiser is being held in their little hamlet take up the sparse pages. It’s work that lets her feel like she’s accomplishing something - but in any other circumstance, one where she’s not simultaneously taking care of an infant, it wouldn’t be nearly enough to do, with the skimpy compensation to match.
It’s a shock when she gets a call out of the blue from Headmaster Charleston, asking if she’d like to come back to Chilton to head up a weekly journalism class. Privately, Rory suspects her grandmother of meddling; even if she now lives in Nantucket, content to build a new life and new purpose, Emily’s years of networking and most of her connections still stand, and she’s still not above pulling on those strings for what she believes is the benefit of all. It’s all too easy to accept the offer when she’s not in much of a position to say no. There’s the argument, too, that maybe this will help Rory figure out what she wants to do; perhaps teaching is her real calling.
(Somehow, Rory doubts that.)
As much as she loves Ivy, marvels at all the little changes and developments that come so quickly in these early months, it’s nice to have a standing appointment every Wednesday to get out of the apartment and out of Stars Hollow and put on real pants for a change. Chilton is the same as ever, all tall gothic arches and meticulously pruned shrubs, but somehow it seems less intimidating than it did when she was a student. Not smaller, like all the high school reunion cliches, but less… weighty. It’s no longer some mountain she has to climb like it was back when she was a teenager; it can be just a building and a repository for her memories.
Rory finds that she likes teaching the class, actually, even if she can’t see herself making a career out of it. It’s nice to keep this just as a side gig, coming to campus once a week, only committed to teaching the one ninety minute class. She knows for certain that she’d go insane if she was committed to teaching three or four periods every day of the week, but this? This is sharing her knowledge and her passion with a small group of students who want to be here, who signed up for this elective on purpose. It’s like revisiting her own time as a student - covering the evolution of the profession and talkabout all the things she wished she knew when she first started at the Yale Daily News. With only one class, too, she doesn’t feel bad about seeking out one of the coffee shops she used to go to, back when she went to Chilton, in order to grade homework without distractions before she has to pick Ivy up from her mom at the Dragonfly.
It’s not her calling - but it’s a nice distraction.
———
Most afternoons, Rory camps out at one of the tables by the bay window down in the diner with her laptop and tries to write. Tries is the operative word, of course; this is a social town, and not to be too vain, but she’s a popular lady. It’s still easier to take the baby monitor downstairs while Ivy’s napping, as the open floorplan of the apartment makes it difficult to do anything without waking the baby.
(Yeah, she knows she’s supposed to sleep when the baby sleeps and all that - but clearly, whoever came up with that catchphrase wasn’t trying to write a novel at the same time.)
Today, a quiet Tuesday afternoon at the end of the lunch rush, her distraction has nothing to do with catty townsfolk. Today, Luke roped the visiting Jess into filling in for the usual waitress, and the sight is… something to behold. Jess has filled out since they first met, no longer the skinny, lanky kid she knew in high school; that much has been obvious for the last several years. But there’s something about the rolled up sleeves today, the way his arms keep flexing as he delivers and clears plates, that leaves Rory unable to look away.
“When did you get built , Mariano?” she teases as he comes around with another coffee refill - still decaf, much to her chagrin, but what are you going to do.
Jess slides into the chair across from her, snagging his own mug off of an empty set table to pour his own cup of the brew. With an exaggerated glance down at his own arm, he shrugs. “Dunno. Took up boxing a couple years ago. Why, you see something you like, Gilmore?” he finishes with that cocky little smirk that’s always made her all fluttery. Some things really haven’t changed over the years.
“What can I say, I’m a red-blooded American female.” After a moment, the first part of his response catches up to her tired brain. “Wait, you said boxing? Like - ”
Jess groans. “Do not make a Rocky joke, Rory, I swear to God - ”
“I’m just saying, you live in Philadelphia! Maybe you’ve gone native! I mean, I would have pegged you for obnoxious cheesesteak opinions instead of this, but to each his own - ”
“This is not some weird ‘gone native’ thing,” he scoffs. It’s evident he knows she’s teasing him, though, in the way the side of his mouth struggles not to quirk up. It’s nice, reminiscent of the banter they used to toss back and forth. “This is… it’s good exercise, ok? And a much better outlet for my frustrations than whatever self-destructive spirals I used to get into.”
Rory gapes, struck speechless for a rare moment. “Jess Mariano, did you go to therapy ?”
A little bit of color flushes on his neck, but he otherwise keeps his composure. It’s not that she has anything against him going to therapy - frankly, they’re both prime candidates for a doctor’s couch, regardless of whether they want to admit it. It’s just surprising, somehow, to hear that Jess of all people is seeing someone, talking things out. Good for him, honestly - for the therapy and for being open about it. It’s another sign of how far he’s come since they were still those idiot teenagers. “Heard it was the trendy thing to do these days.”
“And you’re nothing if not a hip lemming, always following the crowd.”
“Yes, that is the one thing that people have always said about me. I’m such a follower.”
Somehow, she can’t help but grin at this, the way they sass each other back and forth. So often these past months, since Ivy was born, Rory has felt too tired to keep up with her usual self, to dish things out with the speed and array of references that she’s used to. It’s a relief to reclaim that, even just for a moment.
Before the moment can blossom any further, Babette waves Jess down from across the diner for her own refill. “Try not to get distracted by the gun show, alright, Rory?” he jabs as he stands up in his dry, teasing voice. “That book won’t write itself.”
(And if she sneaks another handful of glances before she hears Ivy start to fuss on the baby monitor - well, he’s good enough not to mention it.)
———
In a weird way, having Ivy brings Rory’s friendship with Lane into perspective.
Rory doesn’t remember a lot of the first year of Lane’s twins’ lives; the fact of the matter is that she hadn’t been around to make those memories. She only realizes now just how much Lane was on her own - Rory had been off following the Obama campaign, and Zach had been on tour for months at Lane’s insistence. Some days Rory feels like she can barely keep her head above water, and she’s only got the one baby to contend with; it’s a miracle Lane didn’t snap while having to care for two on her own.
“I really admire you, you know,” Rory tells Lane during a lunch date at the antique shop while Kwan and Steve are at school. Lane sits across the table, same as it ever was, happily making faces at Ivy in her arms.
“How’s that?” Lane asks.
“Because… I don’t know, I feel like I’m losing myself in the mom-ness of it all some days. I don’t get how you made it through that first year without Zach here most of the time and still stayed… Lane .”
“I mean, I wasn’t fully alone,” Lane points out. “I had my parents. Mom especially. Having her help with the boys really finally healed that relationship, which I’m not sure would have happened otherwise.”
“Yeah, that’s true. But, I mean, you’ve still got the band and you still keep up with all these up and coming music acts and - I don’t know. Maybe this is just baby brain, but I have trouble thinking about all the things I’d normally like to do. Seeing movies and new TV shows and whatever else. It’s like… all the Rory bits of my brain are just being taken over by Ivy bits.”
“It gets better in time,” Lane assures her, shifting Ivy to cover Rory’s hand on the table next to the rice cakes neither have touched. “She’ll get older and more independent, and you’ll have time again to be Rory. Besides, you’re not alone either,” she adds. “Not only do you have your mom and Luke and a whole town of affectionate maniacs, but you’ve got me. You can drop this cutie with me, her godmother, anytime you need a break.”
“Didn’t you reject religion years ago?”
“That’s a good point - but also, I’ve decided it’s not relevant right now.”
———
Motherhood, as a whole, is rewarding. There’s something magical about the way Ivy looks at her and looks like her, something earth shattering about the kind of trust she exhibits every time she smiles or reaches for Rory. It’s purpose, in a way that Rory was never entirely sure that she wanted; now, like every cliche ever written, she can’t imagine life any other way.
For all of the magical moments, though, there are moments like this - hours and days where Ivy won’t stop crying, refusing to be soothed no matter how long she’s held or how much she’s bounced and swayed. It feels like Rory’s tried everything - the changing, the feeding, the singing, the music, the lighter clothes. Everything. None of it works, not even for a moment, and Rory’s at her wit’s end, practically in tears herself as she bounces around the apartment with her tiny banshee in her arms.
“Please stop crying, baby,” she pleads, stroking the wisps of reddish fluff at the top of Ivy’s small head. The blonde hair had fallen out at six weeks, much to Rory’s guilty relief, and was growing back in a shade reminiscent of Emily’s natural shade. Not that she can focus on it right now. “I’ll do anything , baby, just… I don’t know what you want. What do you want ?”
Ivy doesn’t answer though, too young for anything but these screams. The never ending screams. The screams that leave Rory feeling more desperate, more on-edge than ever in her life.
It’s not a great time for someone to knock at the apartment door; frankly, it’s probably a miracle that Rory even hears it. Under more normal circumstances, she might care that Jess sees her like this when she opens the door - unshowered, exhausted, barely holding it together - but she’s reached a point where she’s incapable of caring about anything but stopping the crying.
“Were we supposed to meet?” she asks, tears rising to the surface as the very prospect proves just one too many things to handle. “I’m so sorry, Ivy’s been fussy all week, I completely forgot - ”
“No, I know,” Jess interrupts. “We didn’t have plans, Luke mentioned you were having a rough week. I figured I’d come up, give you a bit of a break.”
It doesn’t help. “I’m - it’s ok, I can handle this. You think I can’t handle this?” The words come out more frantically than she would have liked, but she’s not thinking straight anymore, and Ivy’s still crying —
“You know I don’t think that, Rory,” he says, in as much as a soothing voice as Jess can muster. He’s never been much for displays of emotion. “I just want to help. Let me take the howler monkey for a couple hours. You can have a shower, get a nap, come back thinking clearer. Alright?”
Her pride demands she say no - to not ask for help. It’s a streak so reminiscent of her own mother. But she’s so tired, and her ears will be ringing from the cries and screams for ages to come, and it’s too tempting an offer to deny. Resignedly, she nods, handing over the baby. “Ok. Yeah, ok, thank you. Let me get you the baby bag, and the carrier, and - ”
“Nope,” Jess interrupts, already starting a half-conscious bounce to try and settle Ivy and waving off all of Rory’s attempts at protest. “Look, I spent a lot of time here way back when, helping Doula make it to her first birthday. I know the drill. You’re veering towards Liz-level crazed, so go take a moment for yourself before it becomes permanent, alright?”
Somehow, Rory finds herself nodding, though she can’t help but try and reclaim a bit of the banter - or a bit of normality, more like. “You can’t really call her a howler monkey, though. She’s not howling yet.”
“Yeah, well, I don’t know that screaming monkeys are a thing, so we’ll make do. And the operative term is yet .”
As much as it hurts to admit, he’s right - after a shower and a couple hours’ nap, Rory feels… not quite like a new woman, but at least prepared to enter the fray for another round. Lately, that’s enough of a win. When she wanders back downstairs, Jess sits outside on a park bench with Ivy shaded in her carrier from the worst of the summer sun. His foot absentmindedly rocks the carrier back and forth periodically as he reads a well-worn paperback whose cover she can’t make out.
He looks up as soon as the bell on the diner door jingles, putting the book aside when he sees Rory stepping down. Blessedly, Ivy’s cries have ceased for the moment. “Don’t get too excited,” Jess cautions her. “Think she just cried herself out for the moment. I’m not remotely confident she won’t start again once she wakes up.”
“I’ll take what I can get.” Rory gladly collapses onto the bench beside him, caving to the urge to lean into his body and rest her head on his shoulder. “Thanks for this. I clearly needed it.”
Jess just hums in response at first. They sit in silence for several minutes, just soaking in the day and watching preparations for whatever the carnival of the month might be in the town square, before he finally uses his words. “That’s not your fault, you know,” he assures her. “Babies are just like that. They go through spurts where it’s all crying all the time. You know that, from Lane’s and Paris’ kids.”
“I know,” Rory sighs. “I just didn’t realize how… helpless I’d feel. All the sleep deprivation and parental instinct and everything combining into straight up panic. I just felt like it was something I had to figure out, you know? I mean, this probably isn’t the last time.”
“Yeah, but you don’t have to do it on your own. Call your mom, or Lane, or Luke, see if they’ll give you a hand for a couple of hours. Hell, give me a call, I’ll drive up if I have to. You don’t have to do it alone.”
“I know.” The moment sits between them as Rory processes. He’s right, of course; so often these past years, he’s been the voice of reason when she needs it most. “Thanks, Jess.”
“Not a big deal.”
Rory finally finds the light way out of this, and she takes it. “So, did Miss Patty or Babette happen to see you during your babysitting adventure?”
He groans. “Put it this way: we both should brace for some real creative comments in the next few weeks, and I for one plan to make myself scarce.”
———
She thinks about her grandfather a lot.
Richard had been such a steady figure in her life since the age of 15; for all of the heart and health problems he'd had in that time, he’d always seem invincible. Timeline - like he’d always been there, and would always be there. His death had been a shock, no matter how much it shouldn’t have been. Grandpa had believed in her so strongly too, that she could do anything she set her mind to. Of course, Rory thinks he probably never would have guessed she’d wind up here, after a life with everything so carefully planned.
“What do you think Grandpa would have thought of this?” she asks her grandmother during a more vulnerable moment. Emily’s Nantucket cottage isn’t even remotely as grand as the Hartford house had been, but there’s something more homey about it, and there’s still plenty of room for Rory and Ivy to come stay a few days over the October break. The sea breeze and change of scenery has sparked words in a way Rory hadn’t anticipated, but fully intends to take advantage of, and Emily loves the chance to spend time with her great-granddaughter, even if the ‘great’ makes her nose scrunch up in a very particular way. It aches a little for Rory to watch, knowing her grandmother probably wanted this back when Rory was a baby; then again, knowing the way Emily had wanted to raise Lorelai in their upper crust image, and gladly offered some of those same trappings to Rory, maybe this is for the best. Richard’s death has fractured Emily, but it’s softened her too, as much as that’s possible for Emily - made her loosen up, live in the moment more and worry about appearances less.
(Emily has offered, more than once and in a way veering towards insistence, to host Rory and Ivy here at the cottage for as long as they liked, but Rory keeps finding ways to turn her down. As much as she understands and accepts Emily’s desire to be involved in her great-granddaughter’s young life in a way she couldn’t be involved in Rory’s for so long, Rory understands, too, all the reasons why Lorelai set out on her own in the first place. She doesn’t quite understand where she’s going right now, but Rory knows that’s something she’ll have to figure out for herself. Emily, for better or for worse, wants the best for those she loves, and has always believed the best is a mirror image of the life she leads. That life now is different in so many ways from the one she was living before Richard died, but the urge is still there - and Rory isn’t sure she’s ready to spend her life in Nantucket, talking about whales. No, for now, a series of short visits is much better.)
“What do you mean?” Emily asks absently, comparing the look of two vases on a sideboard that look entirely identical to Rory.
“I mean, this probably isn’t where he saw me going. I can’t imagine what he’d think about me writing a book about the way I grew up. I just… do you think he’d be proud of me?”
Her grandmother sets both vases down with a gentleness that is contradictory to the way she crosses to Rory with determination in every movement. “Rory,” she says, placing her hands on Rory’s sweatshirt-clad shoulders, “your grandfather was always proud of you. Always . Even if we didn’t imagine this would be the path you’d take, I don’t think there’s anything you could do that would make him anything less than proud, and delighted you were his granddaughter.”
“Yeah?”
“Of course. And I feel the same way.” With a last squeeze to Rory’s shoulders, Emily lets go and crosses back to her decorating with a smile. “Of course, after those years teaching, he would have edited your manuscript with a colored pen in hand. I’ll do you the favor of declining that form of editing.”
Rory laughs, knowing her grandmother is right; Richard had loved teaching those econ classes, and had taken to it like a duck to water. He wouldn’t be able to help himself. “I like remembering him like that,” she admits. “Excited to learn and share. I loved having those moments with him.”
Emily smiles fondly, sadly. They’re all slowly learning how to live in a world without him. “I did too.”
———
I want to drink in a bar. My kitchen feels depressing , the text from Paris demands. Let me know your schedule.
(She’s never been much for requests.)
Tact and lack thereof aside, it’s good to see Paris; Rory is more-or-less glad to consider her old schoolmate one of her best friends, inexplicably, but they’ve always both been too busy to really keep up with anything more than the occasional text, conversations often winding up spaced out over the course of several days as both get pulled in every-which direction. Even if Rory doesn’t have the same work demands now, Paris definitely still does. While she’d been an invaluable resource while Rory was pregnant, insisting on providing her with the names of the best doctors out there, they’ve both been too busy with their own lives for more than the occasional call since. This is well overdue - especially with Paris’ kids with Doyle for the week and Ivy at Lorelai’s for the night.
They go out to New Haven and hit the bars around Yale in what is probably some kind of misguided attempt to reclaim their youth. It’s been ten years; they’re obviously not students anymore. But it’s fun to sit in a grimy bar for the night and pretend they’re not thinking about all the terrible terrible substances that have been spilled on every surface.
They try to keep conversation light, to talk about books Rory’s read lately and Paris’ latest crazy client and all the little milestones their children are hitting. Albums they want to listen to and movies they want to see. Paris’ lengthy opinions about the bars near her in New York. All the little nothings that somehow form a lasting friendship. Maybe it’s the venue, though, or maybe it’s just an inevitability, but somehow they find themselves talking men over a third drink like they’re 22 again.
“I miss Doyle,” Paris confesses. “I miss my Doyle, not this cool screenwriting asshole he wants to turn into. He was a neurotic bastard, but he was my neurotic bastard, you know?”
“That’s the best description of Doyle I’ve heard in years,” Rory replies, examining her drink. It’s a garish blue - something that had seemed fun half a glass ago, but just seems questionable now. “So what, then - you guys going to get back together?”
“I don’t know. I mean, obviously I can’t bring that up. He’s the one who changed and suggested the stupid separation, he’s gotta be the one to fix it.”
(Rory isn’t entirely sure that’s how it works, but she knows better than to get into it with Paris when she’s stubborn about something.)
“What about you, though?” she continues, flagging down the bartender for a refill of her cosmo. “You aren’t still going to try and mend things with Logan, are you?”
“God no. I mean, obviously there’s love there, or there was, but that’s over. He’s not really… ready for all of this. Growing up in a way that doesn’t mean just following in his father’s footsteps.”
“I never really liked him, you know.”
Rory snorts. “Bullshit. You loved the banter.”
Paris toasts a concession. “Fine. But I never liked him after the bridesmaids debacle.”
“Fair enough.”
Rory thinks that’s it, as Paris reaches for the nachos on their appetizer platter. Well, not quite an appetizer platter; they’d just ordered all the finger food that was available and let it take up most of the table. Paris is full of surprises, though. “What about Jess?”
Rory tries not to accidentally inhale an ice cube. “What about Jess?”
“I mean, he’s been around, right? And looking hotter than ever.”
“Oh my god , Paris.”
“What? I’m just saying. No one would blame you. Or, you know, be surprised about you getting back together with your high school love who just happens to be an author. That’s better than any shitty script Doyle could come up with, even if it is a bit trite. I mean, he’s there all the time. And he’s still got that hair, right?”
“It is good hair,” Rory admits. Probably a sign she needs to switch to water. “Can we drop this, please? Nothing is going to happen.”
“If you say so, Gilmore.”
( Did you know that Paris has a thing for your hair? she texts after the fourth drink - in hot pink this time.
What can I say, she’s a woman of taste , he responds.)
(And if Paris shoots her a smug look from the bar - well, she’d drunk texted Doyle too, so she has no room to judge.)
———
Some nights, they do nothing more than sit in the darkened diner with leftover pie and a coffee or beer, chatting the night away. It feels like old times, back when they were just a couple of idiots. It’s nice to pretend for a couple hours that they’re still those teenagers, and not a single mom still trying to figure out where she’s going and an acclaimed author ignoring his next deadline. There’s an irony, she thinks, to the situation they find themselves in now - he, the man who has it all together, and her, an increasingly hot mess. It’s not how anyone would have expected they’d end up.
She mentions it to him one night, only for Jess to snort in amusement. “Ok, you are not a hot mess,” he tells her. “Not even close.”
“You sure about that? Because it sure feels like my life is a disaster most days.”
“I’ve seen hot mess Rory,” he tells her. “This isn’t it. You go big or go home. Last time you descended to a genuine hot mess, you stole a fucking yacht .”
“It wasn’t a yacht, it was a boat,” Rory mumbles in protest, even as she smiles behind her mug of decaf.
“It was a yacht, and you know it. You stole it from a marina that wouldn’t accept anything as mundane as a boat . I can break out the dictionary if you want, but you know I’m right. My point is ,” he plows ahead before she can interrupt, “you are not nearly the disaster you think you are right now. This is just… a stumbling block. You’ll figure it out.”
“I’ll have to,” Rory replies with a sly grin. “No yachts to steal in Stars Hollow.”
(As much as she may laugh it off, and he may let her, it strikes Rory’s heart in some particular way to hear the confidence Jess has in her, the way he’s so quick to assure her that she’s not entirely off track and adrift - that this is just a detour. There’s something different about hearing it from him, and not from her mother or grandmother. Jess always seems to be the one to steer her back on track - and this seems to be just another case.)
———
Rory has never been one of those obnoxious new year, new me! types, but she’s veering dangerously close this time. After a year of so much change and uncertainty, it feels like a chance to turn over a new leaf and rediscover so much of the direction that she’s lost.
Though it feels like she still might jinx it, it feels like things are finally coming back together. Chilton has contracted her to teach her class in the spring semester again, and she’s picked up some work writing book reviews for an online publication. That feels a little like coming back to her roots, in a way - she started at a little online setup, and now, after years of chasing glossy magazines and newsprint, she’s back here again. But the assignment is enjoyable, and money is money - especially since she’s got her eye on a small house for rent near where Lane lives, in a neighborhood of quaint bungalows. She’ll always be grateful to Luke for his generosity in letting her live above the diner for so long, but it’s not workable long term. Ivy is growing every day; while Rory’s homecoming back to Stars Hollow has brought into focus that this is the place she wants to raise her daughter, they both need more space. Ivy deserves her own room, maybe a backyard to run around in, and Rory deserves a door she can close while her baby is napping.
Most exciting of all, Rory finishes her book in early February. At least, in the moment, it feels most exciting of all - it’s been months of blood, sweat and tears, but it’s done . There’s a feeling of relief as the last period hits the page, even if she consciously knows there’s still so much editing to do. Writing the book, about her and her mom and the way they’ve lived, had been emotionally draining and emotionally freeing all at once, and calling it finished feels like an accomplishment like she hasn’t found professionally in so long.
The next time Jess drives up to town, Rory practically dances around the kitchen in anticipation, waiting for him to knock on the door. There had been so many people who supported her during this weird time in her life, and then when she decided to write this book, but Jess sits high on that list. The idea had originated with him, and he’s prodded and encouraged her the whole way; it feels right that he see it first, even if he’s made her promise this whole time to shop it around to bigger publishing houses instead of just asking him and Truncheon to publish it.
“Someone’s happy,” he comments when she opens the door with a huge grin. “Do I even want to know, or did your mom share another convoluted sex joke?”
“You’re going to want to hear this,” Rory promises. “And no, it’s not a joke. Sexual or otherwise. Close your eyes.”
Jess rolls his eyes first, but he complies and even smiles a bit. For full dramatic effect, Rory had printed the book onto real paper - dozens and hundreds of pages, all off the Gazette office’s ancient printer over the course of a day that she’ll probably wind up paying for in some way later. It’s worth it , to stand here with all those pages in a binder clip with a red pen. With a final flutter of nerves, she shoves it all into his chest.
Jess’ arms close around her offering on instinct; his eyes open to actually see what’s going on a second later. Looking at the pages in his arms, comprehension dawns slowly, and his own rare grin spreads. “You finished your book?”
“I finished the book!” Rory squeals, not caring nearly as much as she should about disturbing her currently quiet daughter.
Uncharacteristically, Jess sweeps her into a hug - a big, swooping thing where her feet leave the floor and he spins her about a bit. Those arm muscles, you know. “I’m so proud of you,” he says. “This is amazing . You’re a genius, Rory.”
“You haven’t read it yet,” she laughs as he sets her back down. “It could be absolute trash. I could have slandered your good name. I could have —”
“Yeah, but I know you didn’t. You’re Rory Gilmore. Obviously it’s going to be great.”
There’s a moment there, where he looks at her with pride and awe and so much shared joy that Rory thinks it would be so easy to lean up and kiss him. And maybe it’s the moment, the adrenaline, but she wants that. Not letting herself think too much, she starts inching upwards, as he starts inching down —
And then Ivy shrieks from her playpen - a happy sound, likely picking up on the joy bouncing around the room, but enough to shatter the moment.
“I’d better check on her,” Rory says weakly. “But go nuts. Tear it apart, tell me what I need to fix. I want to hear what you think.”
“Included the pen and all,” he tosses back. If Rory’s not mistaken, his voice is a little uneven. Did she do that? God, she did that. She can’t do that.
So, like so many times before - Rory bolts to avoid talking about what just almost happened.
(Even if it’s just to the other side of the room.)
———
“What should I do?” Rory begs her mom in the aftermath, pacing back and forth in the living room while Lorelai scrolls through online sewing patterns. She’s never been entirely confident in affairs of the heart anyways, having maneuvered herself into a mess a few too many times - with everyone but Jess, that is. Maybe that’s why she needs advice so badly; not only is there Ivy to consider, but her and Jess’ relationship is the last one she hasn’t outright screwed up yet.
“Well, what do you want to do?” Lorelai asks. Like a normal, reasonable person, who also maybe hasn’t had to think about this for the past ten years since she figured out her soulmate was right in front of her face. Rory’s never been so frustrated with Luke than in this moment, knowing he made the kind of commiseration she’s looking for impossible.
“I wanted to kiss him!”
“Then you should! Next time you see him and the moment is right!”
“But I can’t!”
Lorelai dramatically closes the laptop. “Are we circling? I feel like we’re circling. Why are you asking for advice if you know what you supposedly can or can’t do?” When that produces no useful response, she plows forward. “Okay, new tactic. Why can’t you?”
Rory sighs. “I just feel like… I’ve barely got things figured out, you know? And he does. I don’t want to fuck things up for him. My life right now is a mess .”
“Ok, I’m going to stop you right there. If he thinks you and Ivy being in his life is anything less than a damn miracle, then there’s your answer, that’s my opinion, do not pass go, do not move forward with this.”
“But it’s Jess.”
“Right, it’s Jess. And as much as it might pain for me to admit, I have gotten to know Jess a lot more in the past few years since he got his act together, and I have trouble believing he’s that particular brand of asshole. That guy’s been around, and happy to be here, since the moment you moved back home. Job or no job, kid or no kid.”
“But what do I do with that?” Rory whines.
Her mom sighs. “With full awareness of me, queen of avoidance, telling you this - you talk to him, Ror. I know you’ve got plenty of words, my darling daughter, my mini me, my legacy. Use them, for the love of all things holy. Comprende?” Rory nods, not capable of much else. Especially when the solution is supposedly so simple. “Cool. Now sit down and convince me that I have enough on my plate and don’t need to try making baby clothes even if they really are stinking cute and the whole matched ruffle trend in the kids stores drives me nuts.”
———
When Lorelai suggested that Rory and Jess talk, she probably imagined a calm, planned, adult conversation. For better or worse, though, this is Rory - that was never going to happen. So instead of easing into the topic carefully, she blurts out it out in the diner, the last night before Jess drives back to Philadelphia in the morning.
“I want to talk about what happened the other day,” she all but demands when Jess gets up to make more coffee.
His steps falter with the carafe in hand, before moving again to get fresh water. “What do you want to talk about?”
“Well, I mean… we almost kissed.”
“I know. I was there.”
“So what does that mean? ”
That finally gets him to set the container down, bracing both hands on the counter. “I don’t know Rory. I don’t know. I’m not going to stand here and pretend I don’t feel something, because I do, but you are… You’ve been through a lot this year, and I don’t know that I want to be the guy that you latch onto because you’re lonely and I’m here. I don’t think I can do that.”
Rory is struck speechless for a moment at the very idea. She’d never even thought of that; these feelings have been percolating in her for so long, but she’s never given him any indication of that. Of course he thinks this is coming out of nowhere. “Jess…”
“If you want to be something, give this a second shot, yeah, of course. I’m there, I’m all in. I’m your guy. But I want you to be sure about that, Rory. I… I haven’t been yearning or pining or carrying a torch or any other bullshit you’d find in a romance novel, but I figured out a long time ago that I like my life with you in it. I like that I get you and you get me. I love your kid and I mostly like your mom. So I’m sure. But if this is just because I’m available and here —”
“But don’t you see? That’s part of the point!” Rory interrupts. “I mean, you’re making it sound like such a bad thing, but that fact that yeah, you’re here - that’s huge . And it’s not the whole reason I want to get into this, but - I mean, you’ve been supporting me through this book. You are entirely unphased by the fact that I have a kid with someone else who isn’t here. You’ve got this faith me I still don’t fully understand, and… Yeah, I want this. I want this because you’re a more mature version of that brilliant, sarcastic bastard I fell in love with as a teenager, but I want it too because you want to be here.” She finally pauses for breath. “Does that make sense?”
Jess nods silently. Nothing more.
Time to babble - by far the worst trait she inherited from her mom. “So… is any of that a deal breaker? Because honestly, I wouldn’t blame you, that was definitely a lot to dump all at once. But also, you should know what you’re getting into, you have almost fifteen years of experience listening to me word vomit, so if you didn’t think that’d continue —”
In the time that she runs her mouth, Jess crosses back to her side. “Would you just… shut up for two minutes?”
And he kisses her - takes her face between his hands and brings their mouths together, like she’s fantasized about more than she’d like to admit. It’s like falling back in time in the best way, relearning the shape of each other’s lips and the way they fit together. No chicken pecks here. Rory gladly twines her arms around his neck to pull him as close as possible as his hands readjust, one sliding back into her hair as the other drops to grasp at her hip. When he gently nips at her top lip, she can’t help but giggle - giggle, like a teenager again! - before diving back in to deepen the kiss. Like so many things with Jess, this feels right , like they’ve been leading back to it forever.
They finally break apart only when Rory becomes aware of the fact that they’re still in the closed diner, perfectly in view of the darkened street.
“As good as you remember?” she asks cheekily.
Jess leans his head down to rest his forehead against hers. “Better.” They take a moment just to enjoy the shared space before he continues. “Any regrets?”
Rory smiles. “None. I’m sure. I think I’m exactly where I need to be.”
And for the first time in forever - she knows that’s true.

The Ootori princess
Chapter ten: Big brother's support
Tw: internalised transphobia, misplaced support
Sitting down at the dinner table, Kyoya felt the weight that had been lifted from her shoulders settle back down. Yuuichi didn't know- and Kyoya had only just accepted it herself… herself… it felt good to think about herself in such a way. The epiphany had happened just that evening, a little while after returning from the park. Kyoya had been considering the fact for a while, but she finally ran out of excuses and distractions, she had to face the fact that there was a bigger reason she wasn't like her brothers… why she was so much more like Fiyumi, although they were different too- it came with the territory, Kyoya figured.
"Kyoya? Are you alright? You haven't touched your food," Yuuichi interrupted her train of thought, a kind smile that only Dr to remind Kyoya of the horror that she'd have to tell him at some point.
"I… yes, apologies, I had something on my mind." She admitted, looking down at her food; they were having sushi today, sashimi mostly. That was good, Kyoya enjoyed sashimi.
A sigh from her older brother, and Kyoya looked up to see his eyes were filled with concern, "there's been a lot on your mind lately, is there something wrong? Anything I should know?" Oh god, Kyoya instantly froze, her entire body locking up as she desperately thought to find an escape.
She swallowed, not looking her brother in the eyes, "I suppose there has been, but it's nothing you're… not aware of," she lied, but only to protect herself. She loved and trusted her brother of course, but this was an entire can of worms she definitely wasn't willing to open right now.
Yuuichi sighed, “Kyoya… you know I can tell when you’re lying to me, right?”
"Lying to you..?" She knew there was no way to lie for a second time, so she could only hope to escape, "I don't think… it was anything bigger than a white lie. Nothing harmful, but still, I apologize." Kyoya hung her head, hoping that Yuuichi would just drop it.
He didn't, Yuuichi was a good, caring older brother, "please tell me, I want to help you…" he then sighs, "you don't have to though, I'm just… I want to help you, I can't help you if I don’t know what's wrong.” Kyoya bristled at that, not liking how her brother was prying into her business like that. She sighed and gripped the tablecloth tightly trying not to panic.
“Yuuichi, I’m sorry but I cannot tell you what I’m thinking about right now, I’m just not prepared for that discussion at the moment.” She bit the inside of her lip, hoping that would be enough for Yuuichi.
"Alright, I understand," he glanced back down at the plate, "I apologize if I crossed a line."
That night, Kyoya couldn't sleep. She was still reeling from figuring it out and then from telling Haruhi. She had eventually gotten out of bed and just sat at the computer, she didn't have anything she had to do, but maybe a game of solitaire would relax her. Unfortunately the more she played, the more frustrated she got, although at least now it wasn't due to gender.
She wasn't sure how she got there, but she was online shopping after a while, looking at dresses and skirts. Kyoya knew she wouldn't be able to wear them outside but still… it was a wonderful idea to simply wear them. She found some purple pringle-pattern socks, in both normal and knee-high variety. Pleased to have something to wear in public, she bought it, quickly following the purchase up with a more pointed version of her regular school shoes, nothing wrong with looking just a little more feminine. It's not like anyone would notice, just her.
Kyoya also thought about names, Haruhi had asked if she'd like to change her name- to find one more suited to a lady.
When Kyoya woke up in the morning, she got dressed, slowly dragging herself downstairs to get coffee. Madeline was there when he got into the kitchen, making some oatmeal. She glanced over when Kyoya entered the room, "mornin'! How're ya feeling?"
She just let out a low groan, almost a growl, grabbing the coffee pot. Usually that was enough to make maids stop talking to Kyoya, but for some reason those two weren't scared of him, Madeline even chuckled.
"Well someone ain't a morning person, sit down baby, I'll get you your coffee." She took the pot from Kyoya's hands, ushering her to sit down. The woman started making the coffee with one hand, using the other to stir the pot of oatmeal, Kyoya had to admit that it was quite impressive. "Are you alright though? The master seems quite worried about you."
"My brother can worry all he likes," Kyoya sighed, she did truly feel bad, but she still wasn't ready to tell him, she would when she was ready though, "it will not change a thing."
"Oh?" Madeline set the coffee down in front of Kyoya, along with a bowl of oatmeal with syrup, coffee granules and cherry blossoms to decorate, "is there something you're not telling him?"
Kyoya just sighed, trying a mouthful of the oatmeal- oh that was good, a hum of approval left her lips, causing Madeline to smile. "I'm not at liberty to tell you about any of that, you are just a maid after all."
She nodded, serving out two more bowls of the oatmeal- Yuuichi must have gone to work already, "I get that, but you have to know that I'm here for you. I'm not gonna tell your brother, or anyone else. You need someone you can talk to, and you don't know me that well, I'm 'no one of consequence' as you would put it. I'm not pressuring you, but if you feel like it, I'm always an open ear."
"Alright, I'll consider it." Kyoya sighed, she ate her oatmeal quietly, pondering the offer given. She supposed she would need someone to talk to, she couldn't just burden Haruhi with everything. Maybe she would talk to Madeline about it, not now though. Right now, Kyoya was thinking about her big brother, had he gone to work already? He’d promised Kyoya that he’d spend the day with her, that he just had one meeting in the morning. So naturally, Kyoya was excited, she idolised her big brother, the fact that she’d get to spend the entire day with him made her very happy. She wondered where he was, probably at that meeting already, but she might ask just to be sure, "where is my brother? Has he gone to work?"
"Oh? Not at all," Madeline chuckled, "he's actually still asleep, the meeting doesn't start for an hour." Oh wow, Kyoya had woken up before her brother for once, she felt a strange sense of pride at that. Funny.
Speak of the devil, Yuuichi came waltzing in not that much later, grabbing the coffee, "mmm, coffee always smells better in the morning, doesn't it Kyo?"
Kyoya smiled up at her brother, feeling a little happier to hear Yuuichi acknowledge her in that informal way he so often did. "Good morning, good luck at your meeting today."
Yuuichi glanced back at him, smiling softly, "you're coming with me, you can get dressed after breakfast, I'll help you pick out an outfit if you want?"
Oh! She was coming with? Kyoya smiled up at him, "why? Where are we going after that?" If Yuuichi wanted to help her pick out an outfit, then he must have something specific in mind.
"Well I figured we could go to the beach and have a little picnic, then we could go shopping," he sips his coffee slowly, looking over some papers as he speaks, "how does that sound? We can do something else if you'd rather."
"The beach sounds nice, one of our private ones I assume?"
"No actually, I found a nice public one, it's never used much though, and there's a nice hidden area we can use." Interesting, Kyoya had very little experience with public beaches, she assumed it would be quite crowded on a day like this but Yuuichi seemed to know how to avoid people, so she was happy. She nodded, imitating Yuuichi with the way she held her coffee cup, taking a sip.
"That sounds wonderful, I think I might enjoy that."
After breakfast, they went up to Kyoya's bedroom, to decide on her outfit for the day. "Do you have any shorts?" Yuuichi asked, pulling open the door to the walk-in-wardrobe and stepping in.
"A few, yes." Kyoya felt her heart hammering in her chest as she realised she also kept the skirt she'd taken from Haruhi in the drawer with the shorts, "although it might rain later today so is that really a good idea?"
"Nonsense!" Yuuichi chuckled at that, "have you seen how bright it is out there? There's no way it'll rain!" Kyoya winced as she saw him open the drawer, a look of mild surprise appearing on his face for just a second before Yuuichi frowns. "You have so many khakis, they don't look good Kyoya! Get better shorts!" He tossed a pair of knee length jean shorts at Kyoya, huffing, "this is why we need to go shopping."
"What's wrong with my shorts?" Kyoya frowned, picking up the shorts she was given. She definitely didn't like the shorts, but they were the straightest thing she could think of- and father had hated it when Kyoya 'dressed gay'. Although he had said being gay was fine as long as she didn't act on it… hey, does that make her straight now? Because she's only interested in boys, but also she's definitely a girl now… so she's straight? Well, guess that would make father happy… obviously not but it was an amusing thought.
"Hmm… oh this is new!" Yuuichi took the little black dress out, looking at it, "this is a long top, almost a dress," he chuckles, "it's cute though, you should wear it."
Kyoya swallowed, a bubble in her throat appearing at the idea of wearing a dress in public. Sure, Yuuichi clearly didn't think it was a dress, but it definitely was just me, and Kyoya was terrified of the idea of being seen like that. "Isn't it a little too long?"
"I don't think so? Your shorts are knee length so it's fine-"
"But! But… it wouldn't go with the jean shorts, it would look bad," Kyoya was full on panicking at this point, thrown into thoughts of people seeing her in a dress like that… it was horrifying.
"Alright, alright," Yuuichi glanced at her with a strange look in his eyes before nodding and putting the dress back, "you've got this white turtleneck? That's cute?"
She sighed, sitting down on her bed, "I suppose I do," she was tired already, of course she was looking forward to the picnic and spending time with her brother. It was just… the panic just then took a surprising amount of energy out of her.
Yuuichi stepped out of the wardrobe, frowning, "are you alright?" Kyoya looks up at him, trying to hide the sudden fear still in her face, it evidently fails as Yuuichi looks heartbroken. He sat down next to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and pulling her in, "I'm sorry, I figured it was a dress, I was just trying to be supportive…" Kyoya pauses at that, supportive? It seemed Yuuichi wasn't done, however, as he began to stroke her hair, "I noticed you'd been experimenting with women's clothing, so I figured I'd be encouraging. I'm sorry Kyoya, I didn't mean to scare you like that."
Huh… Yuuichi had noticed, of course he had, Kyoya hadn't been all too subtle. The frilly apron, the instant approval of the hairclips, the talking to Haruhi in private. How hadn't Kyoya noticed his support before? God, her big brother was so sweet and… and he didn't care about Kyoya wearing dresses, so maybe he wouldn't care about her being a girl…
She stared at Yuuichi's face, it was ok, there was nothing but trust and love in those eyes, Kyoya was safe. Kyoya could speak, she was willing herself to tell him, to be free to be herself at least here. Once he knew, she could buy more dresses. It was safe to tell him, of course it was,
but Kyoya couldn't bring herself to say it.
Instead, she just burst into tears, quiet, almost inaudible sobbing as she leaned her head into Yuuichi's chest. Poor Yuui was surprised but instantly comforted her, continuing to stroke her hair gently, "hey… hey, it's ok Kyo, I've got you. Your big brother is here, everything's going to be fine." He sighed, and began huming something soft, a song that Kyoya reconised as a stupid 50s song, the kind mother would always listen to, but of course, Yuuichi had changed the melody… it was a lullaby now.
"...big brother…"

Bandit and A School Girl
For today's fic its gon be bout my BIGGEST crush EVER. CHROLLO FUCKING LUCILFER. So I actually wrote more for this fic I think this is part 5 or sumn but I decide that this is my favourite part to post on this blog so here u go. Something bout Chrollo being a sugar fucking daddy turns me on so hard ON GOD. YES Im a Chrollo Stan and I'll always be ~~~ I actually have this fit posted somewhere as well and IF you guys want more parts just tell me & I'll post it here. Oh and also I don't really write with OC's I guess its just my preference I would usually come out with my own name but in this case I am borrowing a haracter from Seven Deadly Sins......Elizabeth Liones simply because she's the perfect character to portray my fic vision.
"I know that stare and look. Don't. There's something wrong about her. Elizabeth is one of the hottest girls on our campus but boys that goes on a date with her never want to talk to her or even look at her again. Despite that.......she's very smart and also one of the top students here." a boy her age said to Chrollo while he was waiting for Elizabeth to end her class.
He found this interesting, he was getting to know more about her without her telling him. He had already seen first hand that she can be erratic but this was from another pov of the girl.
"Do you think I'm compatible with her then?" Chrollo's demeanor changed to one of those cheeky school boys that had a crush on a ridiculously pretty highschool girl. The brown haired boy laughed and scratched his head "You look much older than Elizabeth and you're probably not from this school. Judging by your appearance and body posture, you're probably a very determined person and also a confident man." the random guy briefly summarised him. Chrollo laughed "Your observation explanations must be a mandatory skill here I guess" he said .
"To be honest, most of us are just trying. God seemed to gift some students here with high IQ and abilities to absorb every knowledge given to them in a heartbeat and Elizabeth is one of them. I'm quite jealous" he joked. "Well don't say I didn't warn you, Elizabeth is very attractive but she's suspicious at the same time and I don't mean it in a good way" Chrollo nodded at the guy's departure with a smile before returning his gaze to Elizabeth "You might be a serpent in disguise " he mentally thought.
"You're not some ordinary guy with a crush yourself" the random student muttered to himself, looking back to Chrollo giving him one last suspicious glance.
Chrollo of course felt the hostile glance, he might be just trying to pursue someone he likes but he will never let his guard down, He smiled to himself
"Elite school indeed."
TIME SKIP
"You know you didn't have to fetch me from class, my dorm is on this campus." Elizabeth said sweetly to Chrollo.
They were walking towards the campus café. "Well there's nothing wrong about wanting to see the girl I like isn't it" he flirted playfully. To anyone that knew Chrollo will find his current behaviour mystifying, he never showed such emotions with anyone but was able to with Elizabeth.
"If you like me so much why don't we go on dates like girlfriend and boyfriends" she joked cutely. He smiled at her not so subtle hint. "If you want me to take you on date you should have just asked. I would love nothing more to go out with you, afterall how can I turn down such a request when a young attractive schoolgirl wants to go out with an old man like me" he teased and Elizabeth burst out laughing. "Oh! so you agree I'm an old man then" he raised his brows down at her. She shook her head still laughing, "You know I don't think that way and I think you're a very very handsome man Chrollo" she said shyly, her face tinted with a slight blush.
"Do you like this school Elizabeth? Are you enjoying yourself?'' They sat down on a bench on the campus grounds and Elizabeth leaned on Chrollo's shoulder. "Oh god that was such a long lecture, I am mentally tired" she whined softly but continued "I love studying in this school but I know and feel there's more that I can learn. It's not enough for me here." she said whilst playing with the sleeves of his buttoned up shirt.
He looked so handsome Elizabeth felt like jumping onto him right now. She was zoning out on him , her mind went dirty and she suddenly had a brilliant idea, thrilling if she would say so herself.
"I want to show you something, Chrollo! Come!"
She abruptly stood up and took his hand and dragged him with her towards the campus. Chrollo smiled, she was tiredly whining one second and dragging him around the next.
Elizabeth dragged Chrollo into her Constitutional classroom that was now empty.
"I hate this class the most, it's repetitive and the hours are ridiculous" Elizabeth complained.
Chrollo took the classroom layout into mind "So you want me to burn this class for you my dear?" he asked seriously. Elizabeth turned to him and laughed at his words "You're funny you know that, we're not here for public vandalism" she said softly walking towards him innocently.
Elizabeth grabbed Chrollo's collar and kissed him roughly. His hands instantly grabbed her waists and her small hands roamed and slowly crept its way under his white shirt. Her palms greedily roamed his hard abs, even if she didn't have a view of him, touching him made her see his glory in her mind. She had already memorized him mentally and there is no way she could forget. Her lips left his and she planted small kisses down his throat and her tongue gilded back up teasingly against his Adam's apple. Her lips planted small kisses and she went towards his right right ear.
"We're here so I can suck you off"
She whispered and her right hand palmed his hardening cock through his pants, her voice filled with lust she couldn't contain herself, everytime she thought of him in class she got so god damn fucking wet. Just by the thought of him. He grunt at her vulgar words, he became harder just by her words. "You're very naughty Elizabeth, the classroom is not locked. What if a lecturer comes in then?" he was struggling to finish his sentence because her hand movements were getting too much for him. "Then I'll be in trouble danchou......" moaned in his ear. That was the last straw for him. He grabbed her silver hair roughly and yanked her down in front of his crotch.
"You better stop talking like that and put me in that sweet mouth of yours." he growled at her. Elizabeth giggled at his request, her small hands hurriedly fumble with his pants and in a second she had him down her throat. "fuckkkkk..el..elizabet..th yo..you're such a good fucking girl" he moaned and encouraged her actions. His fingers run through her silky smooth hair, appreciating her feminine features greatly. The look she gave sucking his cock like that, the lewd sounds from her doing the deed. The sloppy wet sound echoing throughout her classroom accompanied by her soft moans of enjoyment made him want to stop her and ram her against one of these school desks. He decided against the idea because he loved how determined the sexy young girl was in giving him pleasure like this. Her head bobbed up and down, coating his very large member with her saliva, it was as if she was in her own world.
Elizabeth was truly enjoying what she was doing, she didn't feel forced or obligated to suck him, doing this felt like an honour and she was going to show him that nobody was as good as her. "mhhmmm....." she took his cock out of her mouth with a soft 'plop' sound and licked viciously bottom to top "you're so fuc..mmmm..king big Chrollo, can...have this in my mouth everyddayy??..." he almost came to her dirty talks. "This will be...uhh..the only fucking...cock in that pretty mouth of yours Elizabeth.." she nodded at his words, giving herself 100% to him.
"You're the only one that I will pleasure, no other man will feel my lips, mouth, body but you..." she said, locking her eyes with his. The eye contact was a promise for the both of them, no one will ever touch them in such a way. "Good...show me how good you are for me and make me cum Elizabeth." he said yanking her head roughly making her take him wholly once again.
"mmmmhhh!" the soft noises she was making and the view of her body on her knees with her skirt riding up her thighs flashing him a generous amount of her thick and soft thighs.
Her tongue licked the tip of his head in a teasing manner before roughly sucking his cock again. His large hands had her hair in a ponytail "yes...yes fuck that cock with your mouth.." he urged her, he was almost there and it took Elizabeth to withdraw his cock from her mouth and spitting on it seductively before taking him all the way down again.
"shit! ah..... fucck! fuck Elizabeth!" he grunted and release his seed into her pretty mouth and he made sure to empty everything he got into her mouth. He still had a tight grip on her hair and she was moaning at his orgasm, it was such a godly sight for her.
"mmmmmm that's so much cum down my throat Chrollo.." her voice was soft and innocent, she could feel how sore her throat was becoming. He let go of her hair and closed his eyes, processing the euphoric feeling he just felt because of her efforts. "How many boys have you practiced on, the way your mouth worked was wonders" he complimented her. She giggled and stood up "Well I have dated a few boys in this campus and i have done things occasionally with them."
He had already adjusted himself and his pants was back on, he then remembered what the guy said to him when he was waiting for Elizabeth just now. "You've had boyfriends before you, I don't like it. Shall I kill your past lovers?" he said bluntly. Elizabeth laughed, he could be so cute yet so horrific at the same time
"All the boys in this campus combined could never be as handsome as you" she said.
"Take me to my room and lets have fun" she said innocently but already was walking out of the classroom. He laughed and trailed behind her shaking his head.
"Anything you want Elizabeth"

genre: fluff | soulmate!au, genderswap!au pairing: student!mark x female!reader warnings: bad words? word count: 1973 summary: it’s a fact of life that soulmates swap bodies. when mark wakes up in a bed that isn’t his, he’s delighted. you, on the other hand, absolutely despise it. a/n: filler chapter, sorry! and i know it’s been a while since i’ve posted. also, i gave the roommate a name finally.
the sunset filtering through your curtains fills the room with hazy light. it’s soft and golden and comforting, but it does little to placate your roommate. her arms remain crossed over her chest as you pace by the mini-fridge nervously, waiting for this interrogation to end.
“okay, but what did yuta say?” she’s already somehow familiarized herself with the names of the people involved, and while it took some time for her to get used to your new appearance, she currently seems to have grown accustomed to it. you groan, “i told you, yuta likes this whole thing. he just ignored me and then said that i should take mark into consideration.”
“why can’t mark take you into consideration instead?” she retorts. you huff, “i told you this too! mark also thinks i like this whole thing!”
“well? do you?”
you can’t help the hesitation that bubbles up in your throat when you think about the events of earlier. the rapid beating of your heart and the heat in the tips of your ears and the strange familiarity that accompanied each of mark’s words — he felt like a missing puzzle piece, like someone you loved in a past life, and you didn’t like how you unconsciously gravitated towards him as he spoke.
then again, you only saw him for a few hours, so maybe you’re overexaggerating. you shake your head firmly, “i don’t! you know that! i don’t want any of this!”
she gives you an unplaceable look, her eyes filled with contemplation, before groaning and sitting up, “let’s go out to eat. you’ve had a rough day.”
“you’ll pay?”
“yeah,” she sighs, running a hand through her hair, “i don’t want you to confuse the cashier with your credit card info. let’s get out of here.”
it’s a blessing that your roommate has kun. she’s accumulated enough of his clothing that your new body has a decent selection to choose from. though the clothes all fit loosely, you figure tucking your dress shirt into your pants and looping a belt tightly through should make sure your outfit is secure. she stands in the doorway as she watches you change, blushing feverishly when she associates your initial meeting with yuta with the boxers that now hug you snugly.
“where do you feel like eating?”
you hum in thought as you grab a cap, “honestly? kun’s place. he makes such good food.”
she rolls her eyes before dialing her boyfriend’s number on the phone. it rings for a few seconds until the line clicks and you hear a deep voice fill the speaker, “what’s up? you only call at this time when you’re hungry. or horny. or both. please don’t be both.”
“uh, just hungry. also, ____ and i have something we should tell you,” she mumbles, “i’ll be over in five.”
she hangs up before looking over to me and sighing, "i'll do your hair."
as you sit down in front of a mirror and watch your roommate squeeze out a frightening amount of gel onto her palm, you can't help but think about mark again. it's hard not to since his face is the reflection and it shines with a bright optimism that you currently lack. you attempt a half-hearted smile to make his features seem pleasant; it feels wrong when his face frowns.
meanwhile, the girl behind the chair slicks your hair in a neat quiff, sparing a few strands to fall onto your forehead casually. you look handsome, and you're somewhat pleased that kun's first impression of your soulmate will be great on terms of looks.
not that you cared particularly. you don't. you aren't even sure you know what a mark is, much less feel as if others should approve of him.
"there, let's go," she hums, wiping her hands off with a towel and spritzing some floral scent on the two of you before walking out. you follow reluctantly.
kun's apartment is cute and filled with small plants that are groomed to perfection. little canvases with a dramatic ink strokes line the walls above the television and couches, and pens are littered in the corners of every room. there's even a pen tucked into the pocket of the man himself, who is still in the ironed dress shirt he went to work in.
his smile radiates as the two of you walk into the hall, but you can sense the air tension rise, “mina and . . . a friend?”
“ha ha, very funny, kun. you won’t believe who this is,” your roommate grins as you two sit down. kun pauses for a bit before backing into his kitchen, grabbing a spare pan to add on top of the stove, thinking, “uh, a cousin? your long-lost brother? i thought ____ was coming over.”
“exactly,” she huffs before motioning over to you, “meet mark, or better known as ____ in mark’s body.”
kun gasps and points the pan at you accusingly, laughter lacing his voice, “oh my god, you fucking swapped?”
you grin and place a hand to drag the pot down, “i know, it’s crazy.”
“at least he’s cute,” the dimpled boy chuckles, sighing in disbelief. he definitely knew you well.
“agreed,” you smile a bit and your roommate shoots you a short-lived glare before looking at kun, “so we came here to destress from such a horrific event by eating your food.”
“that sounds like a plan . . . ,” he muses, a small smile growing on his face as he takes out cooking oil, “you guys can just chill, and i’ll have something cooked up in ten.”
as soon as you pull your phone out, a notification slides onto a screen. you bite your lip as the social messaging app displays the message of a new follower, and when you hold down for more details, you instantly recognize the handle.
mark. he must've searched you up, and if he's managed to follow you on here, he's probably found all your socials by now. as if on cue, you see three more notifs slide gracefully on your phone, beaming with a new friend request. you aren’t sure if you’re happy or annoyed, or a bit of both, but you hold down and open the app to find a new direct message awaiting your approval.
mark1ee (online): hi! sorry if this is creepy but i figured we’re friends now, so...
good lord. you bite your lips to keep from laughing at his shyness, finding it adorable, and avert your eyes from your phone. mina glares at you quizzically, raising a brow as if to ask what you’re amused at, but you simply shake your head emphatically and begin to type back.
you: how’d you know my last name? there’s probably more than one ____ out there. mark1ee is typing . . .
"here, some cheesy ass lasagna. i put, like, five different kinds of cheese in there, or just whatever was in my fridge.” kun slides two plates to you and your roommate and grabs the nearest chair to sit. he looks at you as you tentatively poke at the stuffing, “i didn’t poison it, you know.”
“shut up, i’m critiquing it!” you laugh as you place a food-filled fork in your mouth, smiling at the instant flavor, “whoa, i forgot how good you are at this.”
he lowers his brows as he smiles, “you mean you forgot my job is in the culinary arts?”
you face downwards as kun strikes up a conversation with your roommate and glance at the notification on your phone. it doesn’t take a moment of hesitation for you to swipe and check mark’s message.
mark1ee (online): i checked the profile pictures. it would be a lot easier to make sure i’m contacting the right person if i had your number ;) you: how smooth. how do i know this is the mark i met earlier today? mark1ee (online): already asking for pics? damn. mark1ee sent a photo mark1ee (online): i forgot that it’s basically just a pic of you lmao :/ now pls send #
you snort and look up to find your roommate and kun staring at you intently. you wave your hand dismissively, "funny meme, sorry."
they give you a strange look before resuming the conversation, and you hide your phone under your leg before digging into the meal before you.
"so, what's going on?"
at the question, yuta sighs as mark walks in, his hand rubbing a towel through his wet hair, "winwin is coming back early. a week early."
"are you not excited?" mark quips. the older male tiredly grins, "i'm excited, believe me. but i'm worried that i won't pay enough attention to your switch."
mark frowns, the wrinkles ruining the feminine face, "i'll be fine. she just sent me her number!"
he takes a seat by yuta and faces the flatscreen in front, his glossy eyes reflecting the bright lights of the video game. yuta glances at his long lashes and soft brows for a moment before resuming the screen, "damn, good job. maybe you have enough game to survive without me."
"wha- fuck you! and you'll still be here!" mark laughs, picking up the other controller.
"i'm running away with winwin, by the way," yuta jokes. he lets mark join the round before pressing the buttons again, "now that you have her number, what are you going to do? ask her on a date?"
mark freezes. he hadn't even thought of what to do, and right now, yuta feels like a personal certified love guru. what a great fucking idea! before he could spend more time admiring yuta's genius, mark drops the controller and sends a new text to you, hoping for a stroke of luck.
he didn't really need luck though. he had literally found his soulmate that morning.
you: wanna go on a date? nctzn (online): how would i get clothes, doof? i'm wearing my roomie's bf's shit now :/ you: well, keep wearing them and i'll buy myself a dress? i don't care what you wear though, i'm not a great dresser.
mark is lying to his new form. he had always considered himself as someone with a good eye for outfits and color coordination. he sighs as the green dot by your profile that signifies your online presence fades away, and he figures he should probably find another way to pass the time while you’re offline. yuta waits expectantly, “well?”
“clothing’s an issue. and i don’t even know where i should take her,” mark grins, “it’s going to feel so weird, like going on a date with myself? trippy.”
“you’ll survive, it’s not like you’re ugly,” yuta sighs as he rolls his eyes with exasperation. mark doesn’t respond. he’s too preoccupied with the idea of you to even process yuta’s words. he’s never felt so giddy about a girl before — even his middle school crushes never got him feeling this jittery. conversation with you flowed so smoothly, and even mark knew how strange it was to feel this way after one conversation.
he’s glad you reciprocate his feelings. everything’s he heard about soulmates seems to be true: you fit him well. mark knows he should be a little more hesitant, but this is finally a dream come true. you’re a dream come true.
you: let’s go on a date tmrw then? nctzn (online): ok why not
mark glances up at the bright orange sky. the sun has only just started to set and the evening barely grazes the warm colors. are you just as happy as he is now? is your head filled with thoughts of him, the same way he can’t stop thinking about you?
mark’s pauses, not sure if he should dare to think his next question, but the idea floats in his head anyway and he turns pink with embarrassment.
yuta turns away, silent.

after party.
synopsis ∣ It was a surprise and she had Ahrin as her back-up if things turned out the wrong way but of course happiness doesn’t last long for Hyunji.
timeline ∣ November 2020
characters ∣ Jung Ahrin, Yoon Hyunji (The Bloody Roses), Got7, Gwan Aelia, Hwang Eunbin (Ace of Devils)
a/n ∣ tension between the girls, sad!Got7 especially the maknae line and Mark.
“Thank you for accompanying me, Ahrin - I’m sure the Got7 members would love your gift! You’re the best!” Hyunji hugged the older girl as they enter JYPE building - causing the leader to giggle as she squeezed the maknae’s cheeks in adore.
“You know I would be glad to accompany any one of my girls if I had available time,”
“Oh really? Or do you low-key wanna see Mark this time?” Hyunji smirked, seeing Ahrin rolling her eyes slightly as they walked past the lobby - the leader had a good eyesight as she immediately pulled Hyunji to the staircase.
“What— Why?! Who did you see?” Hyunji whispered as they had their backs on the walls and by seeing Ahrin’s face, she must have seen the executives or someone who she wanted to avoid talking to.
“Ace of Devils members,” Ahrin muttered and Hyunji’s face went expressionless then giving a roll in the eye.
“Oh… I thought you saw Park Jinyoung as in the PD-nim or someone—
“I don’t mind bumping into him. He’s a nice guy to talk to if the conversation weren’t about work, maknae-ah.” Ahrin explained as she took a peek outside and when the coast was clear, she pulled out Hyunji as they hurriedly went into the elevator.
“I’m avoiding A.O.D because you know… I am not fond of their leader and you know there is that tension going on with our group and their group,” Ahrin added.
“I very well know about that. I heard that Eunhee and their leader recently got into an argument - and it isn’t related to work.” voiced Hyunji while pressing the level of their destination.
A sigh was heard from Ahrin as she shakes her head lightly - assuming what’s the argument was about.
“Make a wish first, Yugyeom!”
“Yeah! And don’t forget to do super sexy aegyo!”
“Super sexy aegyo pleaassee!”
Laughters came from the other Got7 members as they saw Yugyeom blowing out the candle then making an aegyo face to Jackson, Jinyoung and Bambam since they were recording him.
“I’m gonna send this to Hyunji!” Jackson yelled after seeing Jinyoung and Bambam finish recording - not wanting his voice to be heard in their recordings.
“Hyung! No! Oh god.” Yugyeom whines, kind of panicking if his girlfriend would see his aegyo side. To be honest, Yugyeom rarely shows aegyo towards Hyunji.
He wanted to show his manly side more to Hyunji. He wanted Hyunji to lean on her more - Yugyeom wanted Hyunji to say he is manly instead of a cute guy.
“Everyone, please get back to practice in about 10 minutes times!” An announcement came from their new bodyguard - Gwan Aelia, causing some of the members' expressions to turn slightly sour.
“Noona, can we eat the cake first?” Bambam asked with a little bit of pout to the leader of Ace of Devils, Aelia as she tilted her head slightly.
“The cake can be eaten later, Bam. Practice comes first.” Aelia answered simply.
“No fun!” Bambam whines, running towards Jackson asking the older one to begged Aelia. Jackson somehow whispers towards Bambam.
“Ask Jaebeom hyung or Jinyoungie. She doesn’t listen to me,” Jackson gestured towards Jaebeom and Jinyoung who were in the corner, somehow talking - mainly teasing, to Yugyeom.
The JJP hyungs were teasing Yugyeom on The Bloody Roses’ sending a video message individually, in their own group chat - congratulating and wishing Yugyeom on his birthday.
Yugyeom was very happy - he was loved by his noonas.
“Can we eat the cake, Eunbin? It’s Yugyeom’s birthday. We usually eat the cakes no matter—
“I’m just doing my job, Aelia and I. JYPE said—
“But we are grown ups. We have been in this industry for more than 5 years. I don’t—
“Mark.” Jaebeom called the older one out after seeing and hearing the conversation Mark had with Aelia and another member of Ace of Devils, Eunbin.
Jaebeom could tell that Mark was pissed for some sort of reason - which was weird, because Mark wasn’t the type to get pissed easily.
“But it’s Yugyeom’s birthday. We always eat cake in the practice room. JYPE doesn’t say anything whenever we do this.” Mark argued, his voice wasn’t loud as he was frowning towards Jaebeom.
“Okay, okay. We will eat cake, alright? Calm down, hyung..” Youngjae sooth the older one, as he was wrapping his arms on Mark's shoulder - pulling him out of the conversation while rambling to Youngjae quietly.
Jaebeom turned towards the 2 girls as they were glaring towards Mark and Youngjae’s way.
“I’ll talk—
“You don’t need to. We will inform the executives.” Aelia coldly cuts off Jaebeom as she walks away from Jaebeom, causing him to frown slightly. Eunbin could only bow towards Jaebeom - following her leader.
“What’s with them?” Jinyoung appeared beside Jaebeom as he just shrugged - his eyes following Eunbin, seeing her stopping right outside the door.
From Jaebeom’s eyes, it seems she was talking to someone and after a few words, she walks away to reveal who was the one who she’s been talking to.
“Oh!” Jaebeom loudly exclaimed, causing the Got7 members to look where he was gazing at to see Hyunji, somehow looking towards Ahrin with a slight frown.
“Noona!” Yugyeom was the first one to run towards Ahrin as he engulfed her into a tight hug.
“Hyunji-ah!” Jackson yelled loudly as he ran towards her for a hug too - following Yugyeom’s way of hugging Ahrin.
“What’s with her?” Hyunji pointed towards the door, as she questioned the other boys who just smiled slightly.
“That’s weird.” Hyunji muttered as she was sitting in a circle with the rest of Got7 and Ahrin beside her.
The boys were telling their experience with their new bodyguards and the things they told them were bad.
“They disregard our opinions and feelings - sadly, we can’t express it.”
Youngjae was the last one to confess as he was looking at Ahrin and Hyunji who somehow had a notepad on their hands and a phone.
Hyunji looked towards Ahrin as the leader was busy writing down and with the last words, she stopped the voice recording.
As soon as she pressed the button, there was a giggle coming from Bambam - causing the 2 girls to turn towards him.
“I’m sorry! I know it’s a serious situation but you two looked funny when you were serious.” Bambam was covering his mouth, trying not to chuckle - making Jaebeom to cover the younger one’s mouth.
“Of course! You can’t expect us to laugh!” Hyunji dead-panned, earning a slight chuckle from the older ones.
Her gaze turned towards Yugyeom who was already gazing at her - once he met her eyes, Yugyeom quickly looked away in shyness.
Yugyeom feels shy because it’s been a while they met although they would always facetime each other - ever since JYPE didn’t allow Got7 to meet up with The Bloody Roses.
“Right! Yugyeom-ah, this is from The Bloody Roses - everyone's gift is all in the bag.” Ahrin already got onto her feet as she ran to a corner to bring 2 large shopping bags that filled with stuff. She quickly went towards Yugyeom’s side and placed the bags in front of him.
“And this is for the other members! Let’s just say it’s an early Christmas present!” Hyunji added as she pushed the bag towards Mark since he is the eldest.
Mark took a peek towards the bag to sew-knitted scarfs and a bunch of other gifts. He took out one of them and he noticed there were names in it so Mark distributed the gifts with the help of Jinyoung who was just beside him.
Yugyeom on the other hand had already checked what was inside the bag - to see a bunch of stuff like clothes, small boxes, different knitted scarfs and there were letters.
“Hyunji-ah… thank you..” Yugyeom muttered, feeling emotional as he looked up towards Hyunji who was smiling while winking to him.
“Oh my god! Did you girls knitted the scarfs?! It’s so soft!” Jackson was hugging the material, alongside Bambam. Youngjae was already going facing towards the huge mirror, with Jinyoung and Jaebeom as they were wearing it.
“You have to thank the maknae line for the idea of knitting the scarfs. They wanted to make scarfs for you guys and because there were 7 of you, Haejin, Chaeun, Eunhee and I decided to help.” Ahrin turned towards Hyunji with a proud smile while ruffling the younger one's hair - followed by a bunch of ‘Aww’s from the Got7 members especially the hyung line.
“Well—
“Got7! Please get back to practice!” A feminine voice was heard causing all of them to turn towards the voice to see Aelia standing by the door. Ahrin and Hyunji immediately stood up, making the other Got7 members stand up.
“I’m surprised that you didn't understand simple english that The Bloody Roses—
“We were about to leave,” Hyunji cuts the older one, causing Aelia to snap towards Hyunji as she turns towards Ahrin.
“It seems you need to teach your members some respect, Ahrin.”
The Got7 members could only eyed each other as the atmosphere turned 360 degrees.
Hyunji was about to step forward but Ahrin held onto her arm tightly - making Hyunji to turn towards Ahrin, seeing the older one smiling slightly while tilting her head.
The younger one’s eyes went downcast, stepping behind Ahrin slightly. As much as Hyunji wanted to fight Aelia badly, the maknae knew she had to keep herself together - for Ahrin.
Aelia’s eyes somehow traveled towards Mark who was somehow staring towards Ahrin, but somehow his gaze immediately went downcast.
The current Got7’s bodyguard head tilted towards the door.
“The door is waiting for the two of you ladies,” Aelia stated with a hint of sarcasm - this time, Ahrin didn’t hesitate to glare at her slightly before turning towards Hyunji, gesturing to the younger one that they have to go..
Ahrin didn’t hesitate to bow towards the Got7 members while making eye contact with them. A small smile was formed on Ahrin’s lips in an attempt to tell them that she would somehow help them with their worries.
The Bloody Roses’ leader was about to leave but Mark grabbed a hold on her arm, causing Ahrin’s legs to stop abruptly while snapping towards him.
“Thank you… for the gifts,” Mark thanked while making eye contact with him and Ahrin somehow tilted her head to the side so that Aelia wouldn’t saw her face expression - for the first time ever, Ahrin winked towards Mark in public before gazing towards the other members with a slight glare.
“Oh.. noona..”
“Wow.. so cool…”
Bambam and Youngjae didn’t hesitate to tease the older girl as she turned her back towards them, as she went straight towards the door without even looking towards Ace of Devil’s leader.
Hyunji on the hand simply bowed towards the Got7 members without looking them in the eye.
It was weird for Hyunji, she felt like she lost - as if she lost to Aelia. Her eyes somehow went downcast as she walked past Got7’s current bodyguard, feeling Aelia smirking towards Hyunji’s way, all the way as she exited the door.
That daughter of a b— urgh
Hyunji groans slightly as she shakes her head slightly.
“Hyunji-ah!”
Yugyeom’s voice made Hyunji turn to the back and by the time she glanced to the back, she was already met with a broad chest covering her sight - knowing he was hugging her tightly.
“Yugyeom! She’s gonna—
“I don’t care! Please do something, Hyunji-ah… The hyungs are having trouble with the new management,” Yugyeom slightly pleaded towards Hyunji, with a slight frown on his face.
Hyunji could only sigh, then planting a kiss on his cheeks.
“Ahrin will try her best - with Eunhee of course,” Hyunji smiled sadly.
The way Yugyeom looked at her - it was as if he wanted something back.
“Please, Got7 wants their old bodyguards back,”

Coffee Shop Revenge
John Tucker Must Die AU Part 3
Included : Daniel, Emily, Sungjae , M , Minah, Jane,Tara, Arabella Mentioned : Tyler , Maude, Heavily Alluded to : Mindy
“You really don’t need to follow me everywhere,” Emily said with a laugh as Daniel pushed the door of the cafe open. “It’s not even that bad, “ she said with a shake off her head. “And don’t you have a class?” she asked raising an eyebrow. “Skipping class already?” she frowned. “Daniel you said you were going to try -” she continued.
“Emily, the professor is off sick, I am meant to be studying which i can do here so,” he grinned. “I am just keeping any eye on you, I just want to make sure you are okay and that they don’t overwork you,” he said. “I’d even fight Sungjae to keep you healthy so that should say a lot,” Daniel huffed.
Emily beamed up at him, “Even though it’s not necessary i appreciate it,” she said. “Go get your normal booth, i’ll send over your usual in a minute,” she waving for him to go. He looked over to the counter glaring at M and Sungjae who looked up only to see Daniel making I’m watching you motion. He meant what he said if he had take Sungjae down if something happened to Emily. Turning on his heels he strutted to his booth, now hopefully free of Ty Dollar Sign and his french girlfriend, well ex-girlfriend unless she really was as dumb as she looked.
He grinned at the sound of silence as he settled in his booth, ready to get working on a project. “Banana bread and a Mocha,” Sungjae said placing a plate and a mug on the free patch of the table.
Daniel looked up from his computer, plastering the most seductive smile on his face and licking his lips. “I believe i ordered your number as well -” he said sweetly.
“That comes with our loyalty card, on your fifth coffee with us you get my number, on the tenth you get date with M,” Sungjae joked but that Daniel decided that was close enough to flirting for him. After all, he got the feeling Sungjae was shy a guy, something Daniel would have no problem helping him overcome in the future.
“And what if i wanted a date with you instead?” Daniel asked.
“Ah i am not sure you want to settle for a date with me,” Sungjae said scratching the back of his neck, his cheeks turning a lovely shade of pink.
“You’d be wrong,” Daniel said. “So when should we go out?” he asked, getting straight to the point. He was never one to beat around the bush and Sungjae won’t be any different. Sungjae blinked owlishly at him before avoiding eye contact altogether, a sheepish smile on his face. Daniel couldn’t stop the wide grin that spread across his face, he was in.
He was about to get his response when a feminine figure pushed past Sungjae, the person didn’t look suspicious at all, i mean who would find someone wearing a wide brim hat, Chanel sunglasses and a trench coat suspicious. Daniel rolled his eyes, coughing to get Sungjae’s attention back. “Well -” he started again but was interrupted by a loud are you kidding me coming from the blonde who has just entered the club. Daniel looked over at with a harsh glare noticing that it was the club girl, Jane if he remembered correctly. He swirled back around to Ms Subtle and frowned, even with the glass and stupid hat he could tell it was the French girl. Why did these women hate him, he just wanted to seduce his cute barista boy in peace but no.
“Is this a setup?” Jane asked as she stomped over to the booth, her face red and a scowl on her face. Daniel frowned knowing his chance had slipped by, the drama of the two girls ahead of him was too much, especially since everyone in the cafe had turned to look at them.
“Save your dramatics Jane,” The French girl said dismissively as she pulled off her shades. “Do you honestly think i would plan this? Please spending time near you is the last thing on my to-do list -” she huffed. “Let me guess T messaged you as well?” she with a frown. “Do you think she is going to apologize for her brother?”
“No, I am definitely not doing that,” The sister said, making her appearance known, beside her was the other blonde, Daniel looked at the girls curiously. He expected the french girl, the blonde and Jane to look a little worse for wear considering they just found out their boyfriend was cheating on them but the sister seemed to be taking it worse, her hair was pulled up into a messy ponytail, her eyes rimmed red with deep circles under her eyes suggesting that she stayed up all night crying and she was one of those ugly jumpers with the college’s name on it.
“I should go serve them,” Sungjae whispered. “If i don’t make it back tell M that he can have my comic collection,” he continued. Daniel’s nose wrinkled up, oh my gosh he is a nerd, a very cute nerd but comic books. God help Sungjae if he ever tried to drag Daniel to one of those convention things.
“Tara,” Jane said softly, “Are you okay?” she asked softly. “Did something else happen you know between -”
“Jane shut up, god i know your blonde but really,” The french girl spat harshly. “Tara, as someone who has also felt the crushing disappointment of men let me tell you that your real friends will be here for you,” she said softly, “any time,” she said tapping the booth beside.
“Real friends please,” the other blonde said under her breath.
Tara was saved from sitting or speaking by Sungjae who Daniel noted sounding rather done despite barely dealing with these girls. He knew Sungjae had similar interests to him, but he assumed he was bi, maybe he was wrong and woman wouldn’t be a problem for him it all in the future. With that joyous thought in mind, Daniel turned back to his work, happy that this college thing was working out exactly the way he planned it.
He looked away only to watch the trainwreck that was M trying to place the girls’ orders down. As much as he could tolerate which was a surprising amount considering he wasn’t directly related to him and he wasn’t particularly attracted to him, it was still funny to watch him be intimidated by the girl, so much so he almost dropped Tara’s croissant. With a chuckle and a shake of his head, he took a sip of his Mocha re-reading what he had just written.
“THAT BASTARD DID WHAT?!” Daniel jumped drink almost spilling from his lips as Jane’s voiced echoed throw the cafe, her fist had down on the table so hard Daniel had heard plates clang back down, Daniel chanced it taking another speak at the table watching as Jane shrunk on herself as she noticed that everyone was looking at her. The french girl was wiping furiously a scowl on her face while Tara was looking down, shaking her head. “I’M GOING TO KILL HIM,” she continued, her voice lowered slightly.
Daniel really should have stopped listening and went back to focusing on his work but he loved drama, especially the type that involved potential murder and didn’t include his name. He figured the bastard was Tyler Lee, but if Jane wasn’t going to kill him after cheating on her with three other girls he had to wonder what Tyler did to fuck up this badly.
“Wait so Maude told you?” The French girl asked, “How did she know?” she asked.
“She is friends with Min-”
“No T don’t say her name, that bitches name doesn’t deserve to be said by you,” the other blonde said. “And yes Olivier couldn’t wait to brag about how Tyler trusted her with this, how she has a deeper connection with him - ten guesses to why she wasn’t invited -” she said bitterly.
“I am going to kill her as well and that little Cindy bitch-” Jane said once again causing Daniel to smirk. In another life, he was sure he and Jane could actually get along but her shocking taste in men had all but ruled that friendship out.
“Anyway,” The French girl said, Daniel could tell she was rolling her eyes right now, it was obvious in her voice. “Is that why you called us here Tara?” she asked.
“Not exactly,” Tara said.
“And this is where i leave,” the other blonde spoke. “I want to get revenge on that asshole and his friends but I don’t want to be apart of Tara ruining her relationship with him and i certainly don’t want to work with you two -” she said, Daniel smelled a scheme and bit in his banana bread happily. He was going to get a date with Sungjae and if these girls were any good plotting he’d never have to worry about seeing Tyler Lee and voyeurism kink ever again.
“It’s a bit late for that don’t you think since you know Tyler complete ruined her life -” The french girl spoke contempt dripping in her voice. “And do you honestly think i would want to work with you? I am sorry i don’t play with children -” she said.
“You -”
“Ara! Minah! Stop it!” Tara shouted not nearly as loudly as Jane had earlier but it was still enough to get a few looks from the cafe’s customers. “Stop talking about me like i am not here and stop being so childish, we are all victims of my brother’s schemes so can we just stop with the animosity for five seconds,” she said. Daniel couldn’t see her but he’d like to imagine her rubbing her temples wondering why she had to deal with such fools. “If Ara doesn’t want to be involved in my plans that is fine,” she said. “That is her choice and i respect that, i know that it’s been hard for her to-” she trailed off before the sound of laughter rang okay. “Okay yeah yeah me too,” Tara said.
Daniel watched as the other blonde, Ara walked past him, glancing at him briefly before raising an eyebrow and continuing. “Look i am all for revenge but are you sure you want to do this Tara?” Min-Frenchie asked. “He is your brother and -” she trailed off.
“He needs to be taken down,” Tara said. “He took things way to far, the thing with Mark, dating one of my friends and then cheating on her with several of my other friends who also think they are dating him and being so desperate to get his dick wet that he would….” she said with a gag. “With Maude Olivier, no Tyler needs a wake-up call,” she said.
“And what is your plan anyway and why do we need to be involved?” Jane asked. “Because for all the little pranks that have been happening haven’t worked,” she said just as their phones chimed. “ARE YOU KIDDING ME?” Jane and Minah both spat angrily. Daniel turned to see them both furiously staring at their screens, a sleuth of colourful threats and curses were being said about one Tyler Lee. Daniel wondered if his ears were burning right now, he hoped they were.
“What happened?” Tara asked curiously craning her neck to look at one of their phones and gasping. “Oh no,” she said. “He didn’t,” she said.
“I can’t believe that little chipmunk,” Minah ranted, Daniel’s nose scrunched up in disgust, chipmunk what vile inducing pet name. “He dumped me over a text message,” she said followed but what sounded like a muffled screen. “Forget your little revenge plan, I am calling Suho -” she said.
“Dumped you, wow shocking, but what about me?”
“Oh come off it Durand you were never a girlfriend just a bed- “
“Guys stop and Minah put your phone down,” Tara said with the authority of teacher scolding her kindergarten class. “ I think it's time to give Tyler some off his own medicine,” she said before launching into her plan. As Daniel found it out, much to his disappointment didn’t involve murder or any violence at all but it was simply to break Tyler’s heart. How silly from the sounds of it Tyler Lee didn’t even have a heart so why bother.
“So who would be the ultimate heartbreaker?” Jane asked. “I mean he can be pretty charming -” she trailed off. “He did manage to have four girlfriends at a time,” she spat bitterly.
“I hate to agree with Jane but she is right a regular girl won’t do, they’d be eating of his hand in a day,” Minah said.
“How about her -” she said, Daniel swirled around looking to where she was pointing only to find it landing on Emily. Daniel sucked in a breath to stop himself from snapping.
“Her?” Minah laughed. “No, Tara, she’d be on her knees for him in a minute,” she said. Daniel growled, his hands balling into a fist, his nails digging into flesh. Do not react. Do not react.
‘Well from what i heard she isn’t the biggest fan of my brother, plus she is friends with Eunmi Kim, you know the girl who hates Lucas and by association hates everything my brother stands for -” Tara explained. The glaring girl, of course, she would have to somehow ruin things for him.
“She is a little young,” Jane commented as Daniel nodded in agreement. She was too young. Way too young. “Does she even go here or is she a high schooler?”
“Well, Tyler likes them young apparently,” Minah laughed. “Maybe Tara is onto something, hey if this heartbreak plan fails we might be able to send him to prison,” she snorted. “Seriously Tara, that girl wouldn’t last five minutes with Tyler, and even if she did Tyler wouldn’t look at her twice, she is a little how do i say this… plain?”
“Plain?” Daniel snapped getting out of his booth and glaring at the girls. “Like you can talk, that hair colour you aren’t Blair Waldorf and it isn’t 2008 anymore,” he said if looks could kill him and the french one would have committed double murder. “Keep my cousin out of your mouth the only thing that belongs there is Tyler Lee’s dick and apparently he doesn’t even want it anymore,” he said with an eye roll. “Getting dumped by text - tragic,”
“Who the hell do you think you are talking to me like that and why were you listening to our private conversations,” she said eyes lit anger.
“You two are making a scene,” Tara said with a shake of her head. “And i don’t think your cousin would like it she gets fired because you were eavesdropping on a deeply personal conversation of one of this cafe’s best customers,” she said. Daniel apparently underestimated the sister. “Now sit, I’ve made some changes to the plan,” she smirked.
---
“Are you kidding?” “Him?” Jane and Minah said at the same time.
“You want me to do what?” Daniel said laughing in surprise. “Are you on drugs? I know a rehab clinic i can get you in,” he said as Minah muttered a wow shocking under her breath. “Is he - He won’t do it, I’ve seen your brother and he is strictly interested in cats if you know what i mean -” he said.
“Daniel what are you doing?” Emily said coming over the table, well hobbling over to the table. Tara grinned at her before turning to Daniel with a smirk.
“Your cousin here was actually offering a sympathetic ear,” Jane commented patting Daniel’s back. “There was a misunderstanding at the start but Minah and Danny boy here are such hotheads -” she said.
“Do you really expect me to believe that?” Emily said with an eye roll. “I’ve known Daniel my whole life i can count on one hand the number of times he has been sympathetic,” she said folding her arms. “Daniel what is going on?” she asked.
“I overheard Jane saying she was tired of dating assholes and you know me i can’t resist myself so i suggested M and was just giving her some needed information,” he said as Emily tilted her head before nodding picking up the used menus. Daniel let out a breath only to be whacked in the face by a menu.
“Ow Em, not the face,” He whined.
“You are lying to me,” she said continuing to hit him but notable moving away from the face, “Tell me what is going on or i will tell Sungjae that you used to -” she said before Daniel reached out covering her mouth.
“I am sacrificing myself for the greater good so next time you hit with a menu just remember i got dragged into this because of you,” he said as Emily brows furrowed, a confused look on her face.
“What are you talking about?”
“Emily, was it? You seem… interesting… trust your cousin when we say it’s better you don’t know,” MInah said. Emily’s eyes narrowed at her before turning to Daniel.
“We will be talking just know that,” she said glaring. “And Jane would be lucky to be interested in M, especially considering who she -” Emily said looking down at Jane.
“So is being a bitch genetic in your family or -” Jane asked with a laugh. “And i take back what i said, i think she might have stood a chance against Ty,” she said. “And who is M? Is the short one that has been glaring at Minah? Because ew but i applaud his cause,” she grinned.
“M is the tall one,” Daniel said. “And shut up!” he huffed. “Anyway Tara, your plan is stupid and won’t work and i am so sure of it, I’ll actually let you try and use me,” he said. “Your brother is as straight as a ruler,” he pointed out. “And i am not going to act like i am interested in him until i see some sort of sign he is,” he shrugged. “Now i have to go shower, who knows what i caught by sitting here,” he said pushing past Jane and leaving the cafe.
“Jane do you still have Jaehyun’s number?” Tara asked with a smirk. “I know my brother better than anyone and he would never back down from a dare or a challenge.”

The Wotters
Teddy Lupin:
Hufflepuff
In love with Victoire since he was 4
The only people he admires more than Harry are his parents
Was born two days before full moon
When he was at Hogwarts, he became prefect and then Head Boy
It’s impossible to dislike
When someone of the cousin has every kind of problem, they go to him
Likes to see Quidditch but not doing it
although he always looks different, he has always a pink lock in his mother’s memory, and his hair is blue most of the time.
He also has some piercing, but don’t let the punk look fool you, he is such a lovable sweetheart.
If he cares about you, you are very lucky
Victoire Weasley:
Ravenclaw
Two years younger than Teddy
Probably the most charming of her cousins, but she is so much more than the “blonde and beautiful” Rita Skeeter describee in an article
In fact, she is very smart, and she could pass her exams even without studying
She has a strong connection with her mum, maybe because they were both accused of having no brain
learned wandless magic with Hermione’s help because too many people said it was too difficult for her
The Weasley girls always go to her for love advice
Very attached to Luis and Dominique, they are probably the most close of the Wotters brothers
Has planned her wedding with Teddy since she was a baby
insults everyone in French with a loving face
Loves French and France in general
James Sirius Potter:
Gryffindor
In the same year with Fred
If you think he is like his nameseekers then you are right
With Fred, he is the biggest troublemaker that Hogwarts has ever had since the Weasley twins
Loud. Like, extremely loud. Like, you can recognize his voice in the Great Hall
Very protective with the other Wotters
If they get caught during a prank, he takes all the blame, no matter what the others say
The straightest boy you’ll ever knew
But when someone of the family eventually comes out, he’ll take them to every near Gay Pride
he even organizes one at Hogwarts for Louis
Has a love-hate relationships with Albus and Lily
Best friend with Fred
Obsessed with Quidditch, Becomes Captain of the Gryffindor team in his fifth year (he is a Chaser)
Also, he is kind of a womanizer, until he falls in love with a girl named Angélica
Fred Weasley II:
Gryffindor
In the same year with James
Started to prank because he felt he had to be like Fred I
However, he liked it, so he became one of the best prankster Hogwarts has ever had
Puts tons of sugar in his coffee
gave nicknames to all of his cousins
Beater in the Gryffindor team since third year
Loves Roxanne more than life itself, but wouldn’t admit that even under torture
Accepts every challenge; the craziest one was to put fiftty mini hot dogs in his mouth. He won
Rose Granger-Weasley:
Gryffindor
In the same year with Albus, Roxanne, Molly and Dominique
Prefect
Although she is the brightest witch of her age with Molly, don’t even think about compare her to her mother; she hates it, not because she hates Hermione, but because she’s not Hermione
Sweet but very fiery, so don’t test her fury
In a trio with Dominique and Albus
Hates Quidditch with a passion, but she always comes to the matches, firstly for her cousins and then for Scorpius too
Has the same messy hair of her mother, just less frizzy, but she didn’t mind at all. Actually, she liked it
A feminist
Gets excited easily
Drinks at least three cups of tea every day
Very close to her dad
Competitive and perfectionist, she always clashes with Scorpius in classes
Loves Scorpius’ name, and thinks hers is boring. But she always smells like roses, because she uses shampoo and bubble bath made with that flower. It’s cute, isn’t it?
Albus Severus Potter:
Slytherin
Yes, you read tha right, and NO ONE has problem with that, neither Rose nor Harry nor everyone else, because they are his family and they love him. Did you understand, J.K. Rowling?
In the same year with Molly, Dominique, Rose and Roxanne
Hates his second name. At first, while studying the Second Wizarding War in History of Magic, he couldn’t understand why his dad called him after a man that hated him and who was so brutal with, but when Harry decided to tell him all the story, he finally does. Anyway he still doesn’t like it
Even if he was named after a potionist, he sucks in the subject
however, he is great at Quidditch, so he was named Captain of the team in his sixth year
He and James, instead of ask advice of the sport to their parents, they go to Charlie. You know, the “Cool Uncle” story and all
Al and not Albus
Is head over heels for Alice Longbottom (but can’t admit it neither with himself)
Bestmate with Scorp
his favourite cousin is Rose
Also close to Roxanne for being the only Weasley-Potter Slytherins
At some point he didn’t know who he was because of all the pression being the Harry Potter’s son, thing that didn’t happen to James and Lily because of their stronger personalities
Dominique Weasley:
Gryffindor
in the same year with Rose, Albus, Molly and Roxanne
Unlike her sister, she has no problem showing her feminine side in everything she does
Loves doing her cousins’ hair, she also asked her aunt Angelina to teach her to do Roxanne’s
When Matt Finnigan told her for the firt time he loves her, she couldn’t believe it
Really ambitious, in fact the Sorting Hat took a while to decide to put her in Gryffindor or in Slytherin
everything has to be like she wants
For that, she is also pretty good at school
If the coversation is not going where she wants, she will find the way to change the subject
Every guy and not-straight girls at Hogwarts has a crush on her, so before Matt she had a lot of other stories
Roxanne Weasley:
Slytherin, the only one of the family with Albus
In the same year with him, Rose, Molly and Dominique
Clumsy, funny and a badass
Has a beautiful voice, but didn’t mind until she was fourteen, when she really started singing
However, her real passion is Quidditch
Keeper
Has a strong connection with Molly, even though they are very different
Probably bisexual, but she was never interested in everyone until an exchange guy from Beuxbatons named Charles comes to Hogwarts in her sixth year
Has braids most of the time because her hair is very wild
Molly Weasley II:
Ravenclaw
Maybe even more intelligent than Rose, but this quality with a little bit of shyness who shows with everyone who aren’t her family or friends is often mistaken with rigidity
Knowing her, you’ll know she’s so much more than that
She’s curius, humble, pure, and a hard-worker
Hates to try different things
Always there for her family and the people who loves
Remus Lupin is her hero
Always ready for any kind of situation, the only thing she didn’t know how to deal with was falling in love with Lorcan Scamander
As studious as her father, and likes spending time studying or in the library
Prefect and then Head Girl
Lily Luna Potter:
Gryffindor
She. Is. Flawless
As feminine as Dominique
Popular
Likes to flirt with Lysander and making him blush
Thinks her mother is the coolest of all (and she is right)
In a duo since birth with Hugo
Life of the parties
Gets drunk very easily
Very challenging with herself, she has always new goals
Starts conversations from nowhere with everyone, and makes friends easily
Hates injustices and has a strong moral
Her red hair are a little more darker than Molly, Rose and hugo’s, like her grandmother Lily’s one
Hugo Granger-Weasley:
Gryffindor
Best friend with Louis and Lysander
Looks exactly like his father
and is the only one who has beaten him in Magic Chess
Remembers everything
Funny and clumsy
probably the more positive of the cousins
Sometimes he think he couldn’t do anything without Lily
Keeper
obsessed with Chudley Cannons
His reference point is Teddy
Really clever but hates studying
has strange conjectures about everything
Louis Weasley:
Ravenclaw
Him and Hugo are inseparable
Gay
I imagine him being very similar to Kurt Hummel from Glee
So basically until his fourth year he is this very shy boy who can’t accept himself
Then he had the courage to come out to his family
And they were very supportive and explained him there was nothing wrong about being who he was
So in fifth year he starts a kind of transformation
and became a very eccentric and extrovert guy
Understands he likes singing and has a beautiful voice
Him and Roxanne do a lot of duets
Some people bullied him
But James was always ready to kick their asses
And so were all the other cousins
They started the “Louis Protection Squad”
where there was Scorpius, Alexander Zabini and the Scamander twins too
Lucy Weasley:
Hufflepuff
the youngest of the cousins
kindest person of the world
Can’t argue or being angry
Likes to hug other people randomly
George always pulls her pranks trying to make her angry
But she always laugh and then hug him
she is also his favorite of the kids
hasn’t lots of friends because people tend to think she’s strange
for that she reminds everyone of Luna Lovegood

Yeehawgust Day Three: Pony Express
A/N: I am doing Yeehawgust this year as writing prompts (and I am VERY behind). While this is an RDR blog, this is ORIGINAL fiction. There is, obviously, a lot of inspiration draw from Red Dead as well as other Western games, movies, TV shows, and books that I love. Mostly in the names of characters. All characters, however, are my own. All prompts will follow the same group of characters.
As always, feedback is appreciated.
Soundtrack: The Man Comes Around - Johnny Cash
“Let me have it!” Sophia screeched.
“Why, Sophie? It isn’t yours is it, Sophie?”
Mickery snatched the envelop from Len’s hand. “Why does he call you that anyway? All the time I known ya, no one’s ever called ya that.”
“Why dontcha go ask him? And give me that before you go.”
“Hey!” Andy’s voice boomed out, scaring all of them to stillness. They stared at him wide-eyed. Andy’s anger was not a fun thing to be on the business end of. “I thought I told you guys to leave that alone. It ain’t none a y’all’s.”
Andy took the envelope from Mickey and laid it on the bed where he could see it as he buttoned up his shirt. MacKenzie had asked him to take it to the neighboring ranch. It surely wasn’t anything too important cause she didn’t even seal it. It was a large manila envelope and all she did was button it closed.
“I think it’s certainly my business,” Sophia interrupted.
“And just how’s that?”
“Well, it’s my ranch.”
The boys laughed and Sophia stubbornly put her hands on her hips. Sometimes they all felt like they were children, merely pretending to be adults. Occasionally they would break character. This was one of those times.
“It’s your daddy’s ranch, Soph.”
Andy did feel for Sophia. He really did. Things had been all laid out for her just the way she wanted up ‘til recently. Her sister came home from a cushy corporate law job and just waltzed right into Sophia’s job. Andy badly wanted to know why. Had Sophia done something in the almost year he had been gone to warrant her replacing? Was MacKenzie just that good at running ranches? He couldn’t see that.
Andy wanted to ask Mr. Alder – and had it been a year ago, he might’ve. But things just didn’t quite feel the same anymore. This was still home, but it felt like the family had changed. Len and Sophia – and Mickey – they were really all he had left. The only things that had remained the same in that year. He wasn’t sure if that was good or bad.
“That’s Sophie,” Len teased, pulling Andy from his thoughts.
He found himself lost in thought a lot recently. Reflecting on the changes he was seeing, on life, on definitively not being a young man anymore. He’d never felt older. At just 35. How pathetic. While the others argued on about Sophia and her new nickname, he thought about how he felt. Mentally. Physically. Spiritually. He didn’t know if he wanted to know.
He buttoned up his shirt, put on his hat, and picked up the envelope. Paying no mind at all to his friends bickering behind him. He walked right on out, much to their shock. Was he even listening to them? No, no he was not. And ss he walked out of the house, he came face to face with another person he didn’t want to hear babble on about childish nonsense.
“Where ya goin’, Rockford? Runnin’ out on our race?”
Damn Ryan.
“No.”
“Well, it sure looks like you’re leavin’.’”
Andy pushed passed him, not quite feeling like he owed him any sort of explanation. He knew he wasn’t handling all the changes well. Ryan was kind of his boss. But he had done nothing to cause Andy to show him any kind of respect. He was certainly not a leader.
And Ryan was certainly not used to the lack of respect that Andy consistently showed him. Sure, he might’ve been an old hand, but he had been gone a long time and a lot of things had changed. He was going to have to be shown that things were much different now. He placed his hand firmly on Andy’s shoulder.
Andy whirled around, face to face with Ryan. Both of the men felt angry and disrespected. It was an absolute recipe for disaster. Andy’s immediate urge to ball up his fist and punch Ryan directly in the face vouched for that.
“Ya wanna take your hand off ‘a me?”
“Ya wanna tell me where the hell you’re goin’?”
“No, I do not.”
Ryan felt like he was at a crossroads here. If he let Andy get away with this disrespect, it would save a fight. A fight that could potentially land both of them in a lot of trouble with Hosea or Mr. Alder. But Andy would then always feel that he had a right to disrespect him. If he put him in his place, however –
“Let him go now.” His internal monologue was cut off by a feminine Southern voice. “I said now, Ryan.”
MacKenzie Alder was her daddy’s eyes and ears on this ranch and she was out to prove she could do a better job of that than her sister. Two of their best workers killing each other would not lend itself to her favor. She was already at a disadvantage in that a lot of the older hands didn’t like her, especially Andy. They felt she had stolen the job from Sophia, even though she was immensely more qualified. Perhaps coming to Andy’s rescue would win her some point.
“Not that it is any of your business since Mr. Rockford is off the clock, but he’s running an errand for me. Taking some documents over to Green Rose.”
Ryan looked at Andy a beat longer before letting him go and taking a step back. MacKenzie was a smart woman, she had to know that Andy had to be taught to respect more folks than just Sophia and those hands he hangs out with. They were not the ones in charge anymore.
“I expect no further issues from the two of you. Or both Hosea and my father will be informed, and that ends well for neither of you.”
MacKenzie placed her hands on her hips – a power pose. She was in charge here. At least in this situation. No one else. Not her dad, not the foreman, and certainly not her sister. She called the shots. She wanted to get that message across loud and clear to these.
Ryan cursed. “Whatever, have a good ride, Mr. Pony Express.” And he stalked off into the house for God knows what.
Andy looked at MacKenzie. In all the years he had worked here, he felt this was the first time he had really seen her. She looked similar to her sister in that they were both around the same height and blonde with light eyes. MacKenzie’s were a striking blue where Sophia’s were a deep green. They shared the same nose and same look on their faces when they were angry.
But as Andy studied her closer, he realized the two could not be more different. Sophia was a cute girl-next-door type. Sweet and funny, she always looked like she belonged here. MacKenzie, on the other hand, did not. Even around the ranch, she wore dress clothes. Dresses, blazers, boots that you’d sooner see at a gala than in a pasture. She carried herself differently, too. At first, it seemed like she was more confident than her sister, but at closer look, she just expressed that confidence in her body language.
Sophia was effortless, MacKenzie was all strategy. Andy reckoned both had their good and bad points. He just hoped she wasn’t expecting a thank you for coming to his aid. She didn’t seem to be. She just nodded at him, instructed him again to get that envelope to the neighbors, and then walked off into the house, as well.
Andy could only ponder where that left him as he made his way toward the barn. He almost didn’t want to take his horse now after Ryan’s little
pony express
quip, but it was a faster route than the roads from this ranch to the next, so he saddled up anyway and headed off

Top 10 favorite TG/RE characters? I dont think ive seen a sorta list other than really liking Suzuya. haha.
I’ve actually done a top 20 one for Tokyo ghoul before! However...It changes all the time so its probably a good thing you’re asking me this! Chances are if I get asked this question again in the next month it will all be changed around lol.
Also I love explaining why I love characters and stuff so Im actually happy to be doing this.
Heres some honorable mentions because there is a chance that if theirs a next time for this-They will be in it because I love them that much:
(Some one I previously didnt care for but now after rereading it like)Furuta-
Ui-
Rize:
Tsukiyama-
Kaneki-
Uta-
Eto Yoshimura(Oof I love her why isnt she in the top 10 wtf me-):
Now onto the list!!
10. Karren von Rosewald
I really...really feel for this character. I dont think shes trans-So I will be using female pronouns and her real name. Karren is someone that I at first had a hard time liking-She was hurting another character I liked after all-But as her arc went on and her character got more fleshed out-I started to like her more and more. Her desire to be loved and just seen by Tsukiyama pulled at my heartstrings and made but just want to hug her. I will forever wish we saw more of her.
9. Hairu Ihei
I really liked her-Even in the very beginning. She was cute and had a funny personality that meshed well with Ui. And then the more intriguing side came out of her-The sorta sadistic and badass side. Hairu was fun to watch fight and I really loved her quinque. And her want to be seen by Arima-It was very similar to Karrens want to be loved-Although not as fleshed out. Over all I wish I had seen her more, especially with Ui because that would have been great and she would probably be higher!
8. Amon Koutarou
Amons someone weve seen since the beginning. He was someone who was really into justice and killing ghouls because that was justice was to him. However after he was taken and turnt into something he hated most his veiws changed and with that my feelings did-I’ll be honest he was sorta...boring at first. I laughed at his ‘push ups for the dirty minded’ and I also rooted for him and Akira-However there was just something...Missing. And then his return came and that something that was missing was put their. An extra layer and a change of heart! And because of this and his actions in Re: He made it on this list.
7. Kurona Yasuhisa
I have a soft spot for twins in general-So me loving her was almost decided right off the bat. Her stone cold sass and love she carried for her sister-It made me love her a lot in the first series. And in the second when shes driven by revenge and anger I still loved her and continued to do so. I think her little relationship with Kaneki, Seidou, and Ayato was really cute to! I would have loved to see more as it was both really amusing to watch as well as fun to see the fight scenes with them. Her sass carried onto her later form-maybe to a even greater extent tbh however her character grew to move passed vengeance and even admit jealousy. I just grew to love her even more as time went on.
6. Seidou Takizawa
I wasnt fond of him at first. He was mean to Akira, Annoying to Juuzou, and just overall...bland. So normal and trying to one up other characters then getting bitter because he couldnt. But you see...After rereading the story I realized that he was supposed to be normal. A completely normal guy who never did anything he wasnt supposed to. And thats why when he got taken with Amon and he broke and turned into something completely different it made such a huge impact on the viewers. It was because of how normal he was that his return was so...great. And after that I really, really loved him. Everytime he was on screen and grew I craved for more. And his relationship with Akira and Amon, as well as later on with Kaneki and his little group that teamed up was so interesting and fun to watch. Although it could be just as heartbreaking as fun when it comes to Akira and Amon.
5. Saiko Yonebayashi
Saiko wasnt someone I liked at first tbh. She was kinda annoying and I wondered why she was their in the first place but then...She developed and got so, so much better. And before I even knew it I realized I was falling in love with her throughout the whole series. Her compassion and want to do the right thing, the actual right thing, made me love her so much. And her love for Urie and Mutsuki-Ow my heart. She was funny and loving and made me smile almost everytime I saw her. And her backstory, although definitely not the saddest in the series, was still enough to make me understand her and pity her. And Something else I loved about her was the fact that it didnt define her. A lot of the other characters got stuck in the past-She didnt. She moved on. And I loved that about her so much.
4. Akira Mado
Akira~Oh geez do I love her. Someone who, in my opinion, is very underrated in the fandom. Shes so wonderfully written as a dominate female character in the show. She is feminine looking wearing skirts, dresses, heels, and having long hair and unlike most shows this doesnt stop her. She is one of the best investigators, rising in rank above a lot of the male ones. Akira has a sharp tongue when need be as well and doesnt take anyones shit. But despite this she inst just strong. Her emotional side is very vulnerable. She cries and makes choices that make her second guess herself. And her journy to forgive Touka and starting to care about Ghouls and their safty-It all made me love her even more. And thats not even getting to the topic of her relationships with Amon, Haise and Seido haha
3. Touka Kirishima
Touka is a wonderfully done character. Her development from a girl who was very angry and hurt to a woman who was understanding but still willing to fight for the people she loves was done great in my opinion. She had to grow into something else then a hateful ghoul and she did. I always loved her. I thought she was a very strong woman that still had depth to her. Her relationship with Ayato and Hinami being the first things that I started to love about her. And when everything started to crumbling for her she mourned but then she got right back up again. She started another Cafe and then she met Haise and got her life on track again. She fought when she had to and protected who she needed to. And overall my love for her grew more and more powerful as the manga went on.
2. Mutsuki Tooru
Now, Once again, I know this character is hated. Like excessively. However I...always loved him. Yes him. Unlike Karren I believe Mutsuki is trans so I will be using male pronouns. Mutsuki in the beginning was just so damn relatable to me. Having Anxiety, being more on the shy side but wanting to do the best you can. That was just...me. I really loved him for that reason and with that came the cuteness he brought. I thought he was really adorable. But then he changed. And the broken parts came out. I...felt so, so bad for him. And Mutsuki is also one of the most interesting characters to me. For me to analyze and watch his actions. And I understood why Mutsuki is the way he is. He was abandoned and hurt, Confused and broken. I felt things for Mutsuki on a different level then I did for almost any other character in the show. And thats why I love him so much.
1. Juuzou Suzuya
Is it really a surprise who my top spot is? Juuzou, My boy. My love. My hope. He is...My favorite character, maybe of all time, for so many reasons. Hes smart, and strong, and so very interesting. His growth into someone who is more intuned to others emotions was so very great to see. He has a squad now and some of my favorite things about him was his relationship with them and their respect and love for him. And juuzou is just so very cute but is also a complete badass. Something I love about him as well is his ability to say such...profound things in such a abstract way. And his love for Shinohara...now dont get me started. I could go on, and on about why I love him. But I’ll save you the trouble haha.
And there you have it!! My New Top 10! It was super fun doing this btw so thanks for that. ^^
Now Im going to go cry over how much I love these characters T.T
