Leaving this dissertation about "Harry isn't even that special" on the ask box of the author of SEVERAL +400k fics where the whole point of story is "the act of love and being loved (romantically, platonically, in any kind or way, really) is the axis that leads the human spirit, experiencing it leads to seeking more of it and returning it" and "the rarest and most precious thing Harry James Potter has going for him the fact that, at every point and chance given to him to turn from it, he still chooses to be loyal, to help and save, to LOVE, never truly expecting to be helped or saved or loved in return."

Like. You really chose the wrong bitch to pop off to anon... I get why some ppl might be angry in the responses but I have been cackling for a WHILE now like... This is a TERRIBLE target!!! You are in danger anon!! You don't understand some basic things about the author you are trying to lure into shipping discourse I fear !!!!

But beyond that, Hermione is someone Tom/V could respect and have as an ally. She is someone who would be able to rule alongside him, and everyone would benefit from that, since she is fair and good. Also if Tom/V had her by his side, he would be a more stable version than the one in canon. So.. I understand why you like this ship so much but.. the more I think about Harrymort the more I feel disgusted. Harry is not a character that people respect and fear, he is just Harry. Just that. Some random boy. There's nothing special about him, and if it weren't for the horcrux he would already be dead since chapter 1 of the books. He wouldn't be able to fight forever, this character has been in fight or flight mode since the beginning, he'll get tired eventually, V would be able to break him, and do you think V is the type to keep things broken? I don't think so. My point is Tomarymort is a ship that explores abuse, toxic and destructive relationships, physical and psychological torture, Stockholm syndrome etc. And that's fine if you like it but I think we can all agree that this ship and love should NEVER be put in the same sentence . Because love and respect would never exist between these two characters. No matter how good the writer is, some things just don't work. Just become them ooc, that's what happens most lol

In some fics sure, yeah. But these are all really interesting - terrible, yes, but super interesting to dive into. There is a reason people like to read/watch psychological thrillers, horror, etc. I don’t feel like I should have to explain this very massive, common human drive, so I won’t. Go google it!

The same can be applied to Tomione but I understand that last one and I even started to appreciate this ship a lot. 

Cool, you like these things too! And you’re completely allowed to prefer Hermione to Harry. Whatever you want to read.

Hermione is the character most similar to Tom, if she had the ambition that Tom had, she could have become something similar to Voldemort in canon. 

Strong disagree here - she did have that ambition imo, she just… wasn’t evil, and she became Minister of Magic in canon, so. Pretty ambitious and somewhat similar, just in the legal, ‘good’ way.

But beyond that, Hermione is someone Tom/V could respect and have as an ally. 

Mm, no, she was a muggleborn, so in canon, a LOT of major shifts would have needed to happen for her to simply not be killed, or maybe tortured a hunch for fun, first, before eventually… being killed.

She is someone who would be able to rule alongside him, and everyone would benefit from that, since she is fair and good. 

Again, LOTS of things would have had to happen in canon for this to be even remotely possible. Unless you’re imagining some kind of AU where Tom Riddle is the same age as the trio, and they grow up together and can therefore influence each other on more equal footing…? But that’s Tom, not canon Voldemort, and you started this referencing Voldemort.

Also if Tom/V had her by his side, he would be a more stable version than the one in canon. 

Uh, would he? Assuming we’ve jumped over the impossible canon hurdles to get Hermione by Lord Voldemort’s side, by the time Hermione is even in the magical world, he’s been a bodiless spirit with a shredded soul for years. It would be a tall order for Hermione - or anyone - to make him more stable. I like arguing that Harry could sort of manage this in canon because of the horcrux connection, but that’s me making things up that are FAR from canon, and Hermione doesn’t have this. 

So.. I understand why you like this ship so much but.. the more I think about Harrymort the more I feel disgusted. 

Cool, your feelings are valid! You should probably stop thinking about Harrymort for your mental health. You can block tags/keywords/etc on tumblr so that you see less of it.

Harry is not a character that people respect and fear, he is just Harry. Just that. Some random boy. There's nothing special about him, and if it weren't for the horcrux he would already be dead since chapter 1 of the books. 

Well, that’s not true, imo. Harry was the best at Defensive Magic, he was an amazing flier, he is brave and bold and puts his life on the line for others without question - even people who don’t deserve it and who tried to harm him, like Draco. Those are all extraordinary traits that maybe some people make the mistake of ignoring and underestimating. 

Tom/V is a prodigy, one of the most powerful wizards in the books, he wouldn't be interested in someone so ordinary. 

If not for the horcrux, maybe not. But also, maybe. We don’t know what Harry would have been like if he grew up with a normal happy healthy family. Maybe he would have thrived in many ways, and he would have gleaned some interest. But even without that, see above comment to take note of some of Harry’s traits that he has despite growing up in an abusive home. Voldemort said himself that he values bravery.

None of this logic adds up to me. How can you say all this about Harry and not apply it to pretty much everyone else, including Hermione? Voldemort WAS far from empathetic. Canonically. And yeah, sure, no one would be able to fight forever. But if anyone has a fire that would last an infuriatingly long time, I’d argue that it would be Harry. 

My point is Tomarymort is a ship that explores abuse, toxic and destructive relationships, physical and psychological torture, Stockholm syndrome etc. And that's fine if you like it but I think we can all agree that this ship and love should NEVER be put in the same sentence . 

Obviously this depends on what the story is. If it’s a story that explores all those former themes, then it’s probably not a lovey dovey romance anyway. But there are definitely stories that don’t have all those dark subjects, and if someone wants to write a platonic romance where the word love shows up between these two, more power to them! But you don’t get to say everyone in the world can never do a single thing in their fiction. People can write whatever they want! And you get to decide not to read it! Everyone wins.

Because love and respect would never exist between these two characters. No matter how good the writer is, some things just don't work. Just become them ooc, that's what happens most lol

I feel sorry for you. Where is your sense of curiosity, open-mindedness? Maybe you could never write these things convincingly, but some people are more talented than you (don’t take this too personally; no matter how good we are, there are always people more talented than us). It’s okay to not like things and to avoid them based on your comfort level/interest/etc etc, but just because you’re not looking doesn’t mean that such amazing jaw-dropping works that make you believe in the unbelievable aren’t out there.

The first thing i need to address:

YOU.

the moment i saw him. It was all over. The collar, the dress, the spiked cloak...

- My God. I love reclusa. I love his little noises, his silly faces. I love it. We havent seen a twist final boss since pit (...ok techically bis too but. To a lesser degree). I love the angst between him and cozette. I wish he showed his true power more..? As cool as he is hes kind of underwhelming, especially compared to the lore tidbits we get on him. Too bad we will never see him again lol 💔

- the final boss fight itself was really underwhelming tbh. All this build up and I had him knocked out in like 10 turns without dying once. It doesnt help the music (while i like it!) doesnt stand up to the likes of the grand finale or even paper jam's final boss theme.

- I cannot believe there wasnt a single fawful cameo in the entire game. Like the fact cackletta fans ate So good yet there wasnt so much as a whisper of by far the most popular m&l character was.. baffling.

- reefs. As small as they were, i really liked the character choices. Zeekeeper and peasley were strange but incredibly based picks. Everyone got a little somethimg to eat, no matter what your favorite game is : )

what I dont understand about reefs is.. are they from mario and luigis world? Or were they natively in concordia prior? How do they know about peasley and the shroobs? Who made them? How? Why? The implications are all over the place.

-cozette. You poor thing. I love her. This kind of applies to the whole game but I wish they didnt just tell us the plot. Her reveal wouldve felt so much more significant if the great conductor didnt just spill the beans right before.

I forgot to mention it before but as much as I like snoutlet... he holds the players hand too much. Please. Let me figure out the puzzle myself. Let me connect the plot myself without you dumbing it down for my pea sized brain. Pleas.

- technikki and adaphne. I know the game heavily implies adaphnikki is endgame i just dont know how I feel about it... adaphne is just so mean to her for no reason. Even if they get along by the end, technikki shouldnt just lie down like a dog for her! She was so mean to her! And never even apologized! Idk im glad theres like 5 different ladies we can ship technikki with but this one is pushed so hard ingame..

- kind of a minor plothole but chilliam and burnadettes wedding. I thought it was really interesting how they portrayed the two as deeply in love, even if their own people refuse to accept it, but then the next cutscene later theyre all fine with it? Ok lol

im literally so obsessed with the post saying peter pettigrew would never be a traitor… that’s like basically The first thing we truly discover about him. right there from book three. like that is The Basis of his role in the narrative, that he was the traitor and sirius was not. that he was willing to bow to the winning power rather than risk dying for his friends and values (which is. the one issue the narrative never flinches on. doing the right thing rather than the easy.) like these aren’t real people, they are characters with narrative functions. peter is everything harry doesn’t respect, everything characters like ron and neville defy, when they doubt their places among their friends and still fight for what they believe in, and a foil to snape — snape’s love for lily causes him to make a good choice, peter’s lack of dedication to his friends causes him to make a bad choice. a bad choice that KICKS OFF THE ENTIRE PREMISE. like. yes these are characters and you can choose to play with them like dolls. but hp is a very tight narrative, and it’s silly to claim they are somehow at heart the antithesis of the space they fill.

I know like... if there's ONE detail about him then that's it. It showed up as a recommended post on my dash and I was so baffled for a moment haha. I could understand an attempt to defend his reasoning (I certainly like to understand it) but like... his character is nothing without that moment, it literally defines him as a character, so to say it's bad writing is so silly.

It's like if I made an impassioned post claiming that Voldemort would NEVER kill Lily and James. It moves past headcanon into just... outright denial of the basic facts of the characters and the story. Harry would NEVER have green eyes!!!! Tbh though Peter Defence Movement in general is the last thing I'd have expected a few years ago.

Recently just before I really started getting back into marauders fandom on tumblr, I posted in a discord asking for people's views on Peter, explaining my own interpretation and wanting input. And I was legitimately SO confused when EVERYONE replied in the vein of "hmm well that's not how I see him but ok. he actually was a poor little meow meow who took care of his friends and rubbed their shoulders after a battle, he was a scared little boy and he couldnt help it."

I was VERY taken aback by the complete 180 that peoples views on Peter seemed to have done, since I assumed my portrayal was controversially sympathetic. Fandom used to largely just ignore him, and when he wasn't ignored he was reviled. It once would have been heresy for me to imply Peter had any sympathetic qualities at all lol, whereas here I was pretty solidly shouted down for saying he had the unsavory characteristics we're shown in canon, such as enjoying watching James and Sirius bully others.

Chris does everything he can. There's very few people in kpop that exudes the vibe that they love music and making music as much as he does. Being an idol is what he worked so hard to get and im pretty sure hes implied time and time again and even explicitly said that he wouldn't want to live if he couldnt be an artist (and that bleeds into shy he loves the kids so much, but thats veering off topic). Im just constantly baffled how many people want him to throw it all away (bc idk how harsh jype would punish him), you know, just tossing out his reason to live, to talk about the war. Yes, absolutely. There are so, so many people dying because of this war, and its truly horrifying, but how many people screaming at him are willing to do what they're demanding of him and the kids? I always see people talking numbers and statistics, but rarely do i ever see someone talk realism. There are plenty of people who could spend their time going out to find ways to help Palestine instead of going online to yell at 8 men who got famous for their music and anyone who supports them. Some of yall have never listened to "antivist" by bmth and it shows.

Yeah, Chris looked so tired in that recent clip and just in general tbh (same for the rest of the kids). Everytime i see a clip of Chris when he said "im going to protect every single one of you" or when hes being super flirty and trolling or recently when he said he cant fix all of their problems, i just think "this man is going through what i went through, just 5 years later than i did." I literally have done all that, but instead of to a massive fanbase, it was to my friends, lmao. Being fiercely protective and wanting your friends to feel comfortable enough to lean on you, especially since they've been so good to you, but its turned into exhaustion bc you met some people who took mad advantage of your love and now youve gotta set some boundaries and limits. Unfortunately, he's an idol, so setting hard boundaries can be difficult without someone saying he's too cold and uncaring with fans or something bc we know just how fair the media can be when it comes to Chris🙄 i aint know him personally and never will, but if my interpretation of those clips are true and if this trend continues, he'll hopefully find peace and a decent balance with mental health in about 5 years time🥲

i really REALLY hope so. i'm not gonna lie, it surprised me like a week or two ago when chris said on bubble: "i feel like my enfj is slowly becoming intj hahaha". literally going from what is supposed to be one of the most expressive & involved mbti's to one that is most associated with being less interactive and more reserved/cold when meeting people. i don't want to say intj's are hardened, i don't think it's like that. but maybe that they just have a harder shell. which makes me really sad. it makes me think he's getting so burnt out by being the one that's always there for everyone that he's slowly needing to draw back to himself.

i hope that whatever happens, he's becoming his most genuine self. but i also hope that he isn't turning one way or another simply because of what's been expected of him. he's so good to us & it hurts to think that he'd have to change bc of stays. but if it's not due to that, then i'm happy that he's doing what he needs to do & i hope he can feel okay with setting boundaries for himself 🫶🏼

Aaah I’m so happy to finally get a question, I’ve been waiting to be able to ramble about myself on here thehe :) This is gonna be a long one, so I’m sorry in advance, but I want to try and be as transparent as possible!♡

I don’t live in Tokyo, yet I have a bunch of friends who live there and who talk about their experiences very openly, so I’ll also talk about things they went through and that they observed. In general people of course need to make sure not to romanticize a country. Japan is a country like any other and a lot of people forget that. I’ve been interested in Japan since I was around 11 years old and I came to Japan knowing about it’s good and bad sides because I did research about it for years. So coming here with very realistic expectations and not thinking I’m gonna live in a fairytale, I’d say it’s great so far! :)

Of course I’ve only been here for 1 year now, but it’s definitely so much better than living in Germany. It just suits my lifestyle and general personal behavior so much better. I never felt connected to people in Germany with the way they behave and so I’m having it way easier here. I definitely aim to obtain permanent residence status one day because I really believe that I want to enjoy my life here. I definitely feel like foreigners who move to Tokyo have it so much easier than people who move somewhere else in Japan, because there’s so much more English writing or people who try and speak English since it’s full of tourists too, so it’s easier to navigate without learning any Japanese. When I first landed in Japan I literally only spoke English and I was kinda shocked since I didn’t expect that at all tbh. I actually know a few people who have lived in Japan for years without learning any Japanese and it kinda baffles me sometimes lol. I definitely recommend coming here with at least some basic Japanese and then trying to gradually learn more, that’s how I did it and it’s been working very well. Im not fluent at all yet, but im able to have conversations and I’m learning every day and that’s what counts :)

I also know a lot of people who realized how fake Tokyo can be and decide to move away from it quickly because of them getting mental problems or their mental problems worsening, considering how awful mental help in Japan is. They’re feeling very lonely, overworked, and even get bullied. It definitely depends on the workplace of course. But as long as you make sure to make genuine friendships and realize that Japanese people can be extremely blunt and that their behavior is overall quite different, you’ll have no problem with them. There’s a lot of rules and there’s no way you’re always able to remember them, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Definitely try and act according to how they act and you will be welcomed with open arms I’d say :)

I currently don’t have a job because I got hit with a very hard illness right after 3 months of living here which resulted in me almost dying that I’m still recovering from. So I didn’t have time to work with how many times I was in the hospital, yet I’m having an interview soon and I’ll hopefully be able to start work in the next month if everything works out :)

I have a spouse visa after finally marrying my partner that I’ve been with for 4 years, so that made immigrating here way easier for me of course and I definitely realize that I was very lucky to get here that way. I only had to wait 15 minutes and immediately had my visa, meanwhile a lot of people say how long they had to wait because they had a different visa and of course because the Tokyo immigration is so much fuller than the one in Nagoya.

Everyday life is very chill, it’s very quiet so as a person who is very easily irritated and overwhelmed by loud noises it’s so much better for my mental health. yet again I don’t live in Tokyo and in a very tiny town (13.11 km² big lmao) so I have to drive to Nagoya for some of the „fun“ parts.

Now for some of the VERY annoying parts.

Stares. People stare at you ALL the time. Even tho I’m white, they love staring at me like I’m some alien because I have blonde hair and stick out like a sore thumb here in my city where there’s such a tiny amount of foreigners(basically 0 lol) I’ve noticed that people usually say that old people are kind of rude to them and how nice young people are, yet for me it’s the complete opposite at times. Old people, especially old women, love randomly talking to me and are generally very nice to me. There’s this older lady who works at my local family mart and she is sooo nice to me, always giving me compliments and everything, she is so cute♡ Meanwhile young people love staring and making fun of me because they often think I don’t understand them. I get comments like „she looks cute but she’s kinda fat.“ „do you think she even understands Japanese?“ and they giggle all the time. Sometimes they also take pictures of me in the train and it feels very rude. As someone who never stood out in her hometown and always trying her best to not get any attention, it definitely hurts to suddenly hear comments like that and basically feeling like a zoo animal at times. Yet I knew this would happen so I was prepared for it and I know I just shouldn’t care about comments like that. Now idk how bad it is in Tokyo but I can imagine it’s not as awful since it’s way more diverse? Yet you still hear stories about how this also happens very often to POC and sometimes even white foreigners who just happen to have a different type of style. So it’s definitely something to keep in mind.

Also about the topic of getting called fat. Japanese people LOVE to call you fat in your face. As soon as you’re over 50kg no matter your height they will probably consider you fat. One time I had to state my weight at the hospital for a scan and the lady literally yelled „…kg???“ and then proceeded to giggle to her male coworker. Considering that coming from the hospital staff, it was definitely shocking. Especially since I was literally about to die that day? I was so shocked and felt so bad considering I gained 10kg during that time only due to steroid medication which I literally had no control over. So I’d definitely say it’s another thing to be prepared for.

Their clothing style is also pretty different from the west, you’ll see a lot of long skirts and blouses or sweaters. Tight fitting clothes or clothes showing of a lot of skin aren’t as common here and it definitely makes you stick out. One time I was wearing a tank top under a jacket and didn’t close the jacket all the way while going to get takeout and some school boys sitting at the table loudly made a comment about how giant my boobs are and didn’t stop staring and it made me insanely uncomfortable to which I immediately just closed my jacket. Most uncomfortable encounter I’ve ever had and made me stop wearing shirts that show cleavage lol.

Also there’s of course a lot of sexual harassment here, especially in Tokyo. There’s literally guys just staring at 🌽 that you can see in the reflection of the train window (I even saw that in person one time, absolutely insane) or just straight up jerkin off. They literally have posters at my train stations telling women to pay attention to their skirts because there could be someone taking pictures of your panties. So if you intend to wear short skirts you always have to wear shorts under it if you don’t want some pervert to take a panty shot of you. At this point they even have hidden cameras in their shoes which is just insane to me…

Overall, don’t believe most things those tiktok or YouTube videos from tourists tell you. They often times don’t have any knowledge about Japan or how it is to live here, often give misinformation or are just straight up romanticizing this country to the max. All my friends and me even absolutely hate these travel vloggers at this point because of how much bs they’re saying :,)

To sum it up: if you have enough knowledge about the country and the people, prepare yourself as much as possible and realize that it’s very different from what you’re probably used to, and most of all, that it’s just another country that you’ll be living in, you’ll definitely love it here! :)

I definitely could tell even more because I had so many crazy encounters already and so many cool places to talk about, but I think I’ve been talking long enough now :D

unabridged rambling about the Fucked Up French Dog Book I Read As A Child

so i'll transplant+expand on the tags that survived tumblrs attempt on my life then just keep talking lmao. context this is about the text post asking about the book you read the most. now disclaimer there MIGHT be a book i read more times than this but this is by far the one that sticks out to me the most

so theres this one french book i read in like. third or fourth grade. or maybe second. in any case it was back when i was attending a french school so the french reading level was pretty high. this is not relevant to the book but it is an interesting thing to remember for Later in my experience with it

anyway i cant remember if i chose to read this book or if it was assigned to me or chosen for me. i THINK it mightve been chosen for me by my teacher but im not sure. the reason im not sure is bc it was a book where the main character was a dog. so like. Exactly My Brand. and i really really liked it.

so i read it at LEAST twice i think. in early elementary. see ok my recollection of elementary is Before i changed schools and After i changed schools. i 100% absolutely remember reading it at least once Before i changed schools.

i think maybe what happened is After i changed schools i like. saw it in my french class and was like 'oh yeah ive read this. my teachers at this school dont know ive read this. easy shit i will just read it again'. so that wouldve been like 5th or 6th grade i think.

later on this book got Actually Assigned as an Everyone In Class Read This Book sorta situation and i remember being kind of baffled because i wouldve been in 7th or 8th grade at that point and i remember being like. "Well this is Awesome for me but how did this happen. i read this book in [whichever grade i was in, either 2nd or 3rd or 4th]. and it was easy shit then so why are we reading this In Class as its Own Thing . is this not too far below our level.' (its bc you transferred to an Eng school kiddo the Fr reading level was way lower than ur old school) in any case, i didnt say anything because i wasnt about to look a gift horse in the mouth lmao

anyway the whole time we were reading it as a class i was very happy because it was like . Oh i got this in the BAG ive read this book before! and then aced the shit outta the reading comprehension worksheets. it was almost an UNFAIR ADVANTAGE. you CANNOT beat me on my HOME TURF (home turf being, Weird Book About Dog)

id like to read it again tbh and maybe read the eng translation as well. im curious about it.

so in summary its about a stray dog seeking somewhere to call home and possibly a good owner who loves him. now this dog is UGLY this is an important trait of his. he is an ugly horrible stray who lives an ugly horrible life and he has two mentor-figures that die terribly throughout the book . and then he meets a horrible little girl and they become besties. but then her dad is like 'this dog is ugly and SUCKS' and gets rid of him. and then the dog is like 'oh yeah?? oh yeah????? im done being scared and sad im fuckign PISSED now. try me IDIOT' and breaks into his house and Destroys it

'mattie whats the dogs name' you might be wondering. he doesnt have one. hes referred to as 'the dog' . he is never named. the little girl is never named either. well no she is but her "real" name is never stated because it's irrelevant. she's referred to by the name the Dog chooses for her which is apple. because. she smells like apples.

other notable dogs in this book are the first one whose name i dont remember but she takes him in when he lives in the junkyard. and then she fucking dies i forget how. i think she's crushed by a refrigerator. anyway her dying words are smth to the effect of 'you have to be swift little one. you have to be swift...' and then she croaks

the SECOND one is when hes trapped at the dog pound and they're on track to be euthanized because the shelter is full. their name was le laineux (the wooly one) .

the third one is. oh shit i think their name was 'le hyeneux' which i remember clocking as 'the hyena-ish one' and didnt bother looking up if 'hyeneux' was a Real Word the same way 'laineux' is because le hyeneux's main traits are Staying Silly and Cackling Like A Hyena. no further specification necessary .

the whole thing with le laineux was so fucked up because theyre on borrowed time , they're up next on death row at thsi full kill shelter and Dog doesnt understand why laineux, who is so kind and good and gentle, is still here and no ones adopting them (they are old and sickly). dog fully intends to die with laineux and they are comforting each other as they approach deaths door, but then RIGHT ebfore the shelter closes someone comes in and chooses him and hes like no what the fuck it shouldnt be me ??? and laineux is like 'no this is good. you need to go' and dog REFUSES he throws himself at the bars of the cage to scare the little girl who wants to take him home, maybe so that laineux looks better in comparison and they'll pick laineux instead, maybe to guarantee that he dies with laineux, and hes snarling and barking at this little girl to try to deter her and unfortunately for him it backfires because shes like "AW FUCK YEAH he BITES hes MEAN i want a MEAN DOG' and they take him home and laineux dies alone but happy that Dog gets to live

anyway it does have a happy ending he does see his girl again and hes happy. the dad is like. ok well i am kind of impressed by this dogs weird tenacity so he can stay. also my child did not take me trying to kill her dog very well. so i will let her keep the dog.

HAIIII welcome :) to preface this im normal i swear. anyway The Abyss is what i like ta call my Horrible Horrible Maze, i made it w/ the goal of making the worst possible experience in minecraft to torment my friends ^_^

I enjoy putting people in situations and studying them :D 

On that note! everyone who runs the abyss (24 people at current count) I time and write a couple notes on them! the abyss is honestly half maze half personality test LMAO. at current moment the quickest time goes to @ghostpajamas with a baffling 03:24 (wild that he got out so quick, i win tho cause i haunt his dreams), and longest goes to the beloved @rendogdomesticated with 1:35:54 <3 special shout out ta my dearest @theoctagon tho wolff ur insane i love u. guy goes inta the abyss for fun and has like 10 pages and counting of insane person phsyical notes tryna map it out (hes reported that hes gone through the first one 60 times and the 2nd one 5 jesus chriiiistttt). the abyss is fond of Pilot :) also if wolff is the favourite than @potionofinstantdamage is the Least favourite, rude ass set the place on fire when he got stuck in there :( oof ouchie

Highlights from my notes include @quack-city running backwards and upon me asking Why, simply replied “what if there’s slenderman :(‘ ... cant argue w/ that! he also hadda stop mid run so we decided its funnier if he’s just stuck in there forever. @newtbeetle was in there for like an hour and would NOT shut up about Paul Dano the whole time which was a time (love u beebs. ur isnane). my two test runners are @kishdoodles and @officialgleamstar and they had about the same time but like Opposite reactions it was very funny, kish treated it like they were a streamer n kept a like constant chatter, and travvy was like DEAD silent the whole time n Intensely focused akjewkjr tbh outta all 24 runners trav’s been prob the most like, methotical bout it? LIKE I SAID personality test. i Love studying people. 

In regards to its origins I came up w/ the idea back in like feb/march ish of this year and from start to finish it took me like 2 weeks ish i was on the Grind. u dont understnad how much black concrete this thing took. hell on earth,,, darkwoods has an economy/shopping district and i bought out like All the sand/gravel available akjwekjr the rest i hadda gather myself n God gravel sucks. also ive killed So Many Squids. the 2nd abyss was much easier ta gather supplies for cause i could ask for help w/ supplies n i kept the first one a Complete secret minus my test runners (i hadda bitch at SOMEONE while makin it or i wouldve died i think. speakin of the first abyss has a death count of 13 and the 2nd one has like, 5 or somefin? rlly shouldve writen that down akjwerjk those are Entirely me dying in the process of buildin them btw. its not a true Spain Build unless its mildly dangerous <3) The 2nd one also made me learn redstone, notably i specifically studied Tango’s decked out process vids from s7, tho i really only stole like two aspects of it n i couldnt even get one ta work properly LMAO

The second abyss took me like, wayy longer ta make, bout two months ish (i finished it like mid july). not necessarily in actual like, time spent building but cause in the process of makin it i had Two month long events i was in (Voiceteam in may and Art fight in july) so that distracted me a bit wkwnekeneie Im a bit more secretive bout the second abyss in general since not That many people have actually ran it compared ta the first n theres actually like, Things that can be spoiled in there <3 i like seein peep’s initial reactions its much more satisfying.

This didnt happen w/ everyone but i think a like, Core part of running the abyss is getting emotionally attached ta weird things. i wouldve said just torches until a few days ago when Tac (onea the rat server mods) ran it and claimed the stack of pumpkin pies i gave her as family. In regards to lore the abyss is a parasitic entity that infects anyone who gets stuck in there n slowly compells them ta go build their own lmao. note that ive only called the second abyss the Second one and not Abyss 2, because its technically just The Abyss as well cause theres many of them i just made it second wowjdkenejd (a real example of this is Wolff gettin obsessed w/ the abyss n then goin n buildin his own build called the Tower :) very excited bout that) The Abyss has a weird like fucked up warlock bond w/ my goddess oc The Overseer :D Her design’s vaugely based off my irl friend @hotcollectionoftubs cause her creation The Hole on a creative world her n some other friends of mine are on was onea the main insperations for certain aspects of the abyss’ lore :D mainly the teal in the colour palette and the whole ‘the [hole/abyss] provides’ thing.

Tbh I think a lot of lesbians on here have a kind of performative disgust for men. It makes sense seeing as this is radblr and everybody hates men here anyway. But the whole “ugh men are disgusting and hideous and seeing a shirtless man literally makes me want to puke” is… extreme to the point where I’d nearly say this is a result of trauma (not being a lesbian, but having this level of disgust for men).

Like, I’m a lesbian and I’m not disgusted by men at all. I just have absolutely zero sexual interest in them. I don’t think any of them are disgusting. When pictures of the latest handsome male celeb come up on my timeline I just scroll by, I barely even notice them. I don’t go “ugh how dare anybody make me look at this hideous mess!”. I have gay male friends who aren’t disgusted by female bodies in the slightest, they just, again, don’t want sex with them. I don’t want to see men naked or whatever but I wouldn’t literally feel sick if I saw one, I’d just be like “lol”. I also can objectively see how somebody could find certain men handsome, cause I understand symmetry and fitness and what humans find attractive. Not cause I literally find them attractive myself.

Just… based on any gay ppl I know in real life I feel like this unbelievable performative level of disgust for the opposite sex is in some way a response to your sexuality being constantly questioned (which I understand) and feeling the need to affirm yourself and prove to everybody that you’re actually gay. Like if I saw a woman I wasn’t at all attracted to naked I wouldn’t be like “ew puke omg disgusting”, I’d be like “whatever”. I just finished watching twd’s final episode (ya i know im so late) aaand I totally agree with you. That episode was so rushed, everything happened so fast. As expected it was a total chaos.

I literally cried when Rosita died, I really wish it was Judith or RJ just to give Michone something to be guilty abt. Yaa I’m not a fan of Michonne and her leaving the kids to find Rick.

I loved the scene between Daryl and Carol in the end, it just showed how platonic their love for each other and nothing more people!

The explosion? UGHH.

The dinner after the explosion? Major cringe and very confusing, I mean not like they celebrated after the war with the Saviors? It just didn’t make sense.

And oh Maggie, my dearest. She deserves peace and happiness but I get her, if I were her I would’ve killed Annie so atleast we’re even.

Kinda disappointed. After 11 seasons we deserved a better ending. But hey, I am excited that Rick Grimes is back.

Yeah it was very rushed, messy, lazy, and insulting. I mean it could've been a lot worse, but it could've been so much better if they had actually taken the time to make a good, well thought out last season instead of throwing in so many useless storylines. I mean the whole Reaper arc should've been thrown out. They could've used that time to delve into the Commonwealth stuff earlier. Also when they spent that whole episode in 11b focusing on Eugene trying to solve that mystery with Hornsby and Stephanie and all that shit... so ridiculous just give me 45 minutes of Daryl showering and I'll be happy

Anyway, Rosita dying was horrendously sad. I mean it was a beautiful death that was at least peaceful which is what she deserves, but it was still so sad. At least she died in the very last episode instead of in the middle of the series, so we got as much Rosita content as we could get.

I WISH JUDITH HAD DIED TOO HAHA. No fr what was the point of Judith getting shot if she wasn't going to die? Just to fuck with us? And to waste time? Seriously her getting shot was such a waste of time, it's insulting. She should've died and then it would at least have some payoff. But noooo they just had to do that stupid Carl/Rick parallel with Judith and Daryl. I rolled my eyes so hard man. It was just so lazy and they thought they were being so clever like ok get over urself besties

And you're so right, Michonne should feel guilty for leaving her kids! I mean tbh if Judith and RJ were my kids I'd probably abandon them too (not really lol) but yeah.

The Carol and Daryl scene was also pointless imo. I mean I guess it was cool if you like their friendship but I don't even think their friendship is that fun to watch lol so yeah. The "I love you" was definitely platonic but it read as more caryl baiting for the carylers.

That explosion was so ridiculous. How did they pull that off in a matter of a few hours? I was baffled. It was so weird and unrealistic lol. I mean I realize I am asking for realism in a show about zombies, but at some point realism is required for the show to make sense within the context, you know?

Everything was just way too convenient in that last episode. The explosion, Daryl just so happening to have the universal donor blood type (yeah fucking right), Judith surviving that gunshot wound, barely anyone in the main cast dying, everyone celebrating after destroying half the city and a ton of Commonwealth civilians dying... SUPER WEIRD.

Yeah the dinner was so cringey I'm sorry. It just felt so unearned and wrong. I mean they just faced a tragedy. Luke died hours ago and his group went from sobbing uncontrollably to laughing as they clink glasses at the dinner table like EXCUSE ME lmao. And once again, that huge explosion must've been super devastating to the structure of the city. How can the group be celebrating at a time like this? Also don't get me started on how EXHAUSTED they would've been after all of that, and yet they made a five course Thanksgiving meal in less than 24 hours after a really bad walker invasion??? And I know for a fact it was less than 24 hours later because Rosita was still alive and you can't live more than 24 hours with that fever from the bite. So stupid I'm sorry guys I wanna like it but I just can't.

I totally agree my friend. Sorry for ranting but you made some great points that got me thinking about how irrationally mad I am at the finale lol. I just think it could've been so much better. And then after the one year time jump, it was way too saccharine and didn't match the tone of the rest of the episode or the season. I think that they still could've given them that happy ending without it being so colorful and bright and everyone smiling super big and idk it was just way too perfect and utopian looking. They could've done a way more nuanced thing that didn't make me feel as uncomfortable as it did lol. It was almost uncanny how saccharine the ending was.

Daryl is going to get the happiest ending of anyone in the series by the time I'm done with him in my series. He is gonna grow old with his wife and kids. He will know peace <3

dont rb this bc i dont want ppl who liked the movie to argue with me about how the ending is fine or good or talk about why they liked it bc its so deeply upsetting to me on a genuinely personal level but anyway spoilers 4 the new oo.o movie under the cut. sorry it got long i have a lot of feelings about it all

of course ppl are entitled to their personal opinions on pieces of media and as a disclaimer i am not against tragedies/tragic endings to stories or just sad endings in general, i enjoy a good tragedy and there are well done tragic endings to stories that feel fitting and like theres actual meaning in them that work well with the characters and overall story. however. i do not at all think that is the case with the new ooo movie. i said this when i first found out about it but ill say it again: truly what is the fucking point of everything if eiji just dies in the end.

i know the people who like the ending/movie are saying "well its the natural thing to happen with how self sacrificial eiji is" but literally the entire point of eijis character arc in the show is that through his relationships with the other characters ankh and hina especially he realizes that his life has value and that he needs to care about himself the way he cares for others and in the end of the show we see him allowing himself to reach out to others for the help he needs AND we see him allowing himself to want things such as wanting ankh.

by the end of the show we are already seeing eiji growing, healing, and changing for the better and like. thats the entire point of eijis journey as a character, to realize that his life is worth living and has value. and to throw away that character growth is such a slap in the face. to me personally as someone who really relates to eijis trauma and state of mind in the show, it feels so awful to be basically told "this traumatized characters only option is to die." like what the fuck, that was absolutely not necessary or the only option for his character. weve continued to see eiji talk about "the future with BOTH of us in it" about him and ankh so it makes zero sense for him to sacrifice himself to bring ankh back. and ive already said it before but ankh would not want a life without eiji in it, thats also part of the pivitol point of ankhs arc where he can not bring himself to kill eiji because a life without eiji wouldnt really feel like living at all.

in ten years it makes no sense for eiji to have not moved forward and grown and changed more especially when again. we were already seeing him heal by the end of the show

and really i just do not get how theres people who like the end of the movie or are saying its a good and satisfying ending.. i know that most of the people ive seen and talked with all agree about hating the ending and just feeling like its cruel and awful but its still baffling to me that theres people who watched it and went yeah this is good.

even more baffling to have people saying that it fits the tone of ooo as a show overall??? which makes no sense because part of the reason why ooo means so much to me is because its so full of hope and the ending of the show is not tragic but instead bittersweet. its not goodbye forever, its i love you and ill see you someday somehow in the future. and some people are saying that eiji dying is supposed to make hina and ankh learn "life goes on" but thats fucking bullshit frankly. hina already learned that before when ankh died the first time, they dont need to learn that lesson.

i know im rambling by now but really having eiji die just truly feels pointless and cruel, he didnt have to die, it feels like a slap in the face to everyone including the cast who all have voiced having a hard time accepting it and i feel so bad for them like you get everyone back together for the movie and then you do this? and the way it was advertised as it being a happy reunion really just rubs salt in the wound tbh.

it SHOULD have been a happy reunion. there truly was no reason for it to end up like this and i just dont understand how people look at such a cruel ending to a character who has already suffered so much and go "yeah this makes sense im happy with it" like what the fuck. it doesnt make sense on so many levels including as a narrative and a character level and it just is not fulfilling or in the spirit of hope for the future that the show had.

the end of kamen rider ooo was about how despite all the hardships weve been through life is still worth living and its worth it to love each other and reach out to one another and that theres always hope for us. and the movie just takes that and throws it in the trash. anyway enough ranting the movie isnt canon to me beyond ankh being alive and also the tajador rainbow suit. also date and gotou are married and have been for ten years

So I hc Gon as Pacific Islander, specifically as Tongan. ‘Ofa Lahi Atu is Tongan for ‘I love you a lot’. I really wanted to write a fic exploring what it might look like with Killua visiting Gon’s home (sometimes I call it Tofua’amotu in stories I write, which literally means Whale Island) and experiencing the language and culture. 

I think a lot of the lifestyle would feel very strange for him, from the traditional dress (men traditionally wear what is called a tupenu, which is like a calf-length wrap skirt, with a mat over it wrapped around their waist) to the communal culture to, well, everything that very much contrasts with his upbringing with the Zoldycks. 

Tbh, it’s been a challenge incorporating everything that I want to in a way that will make sense to readers who have never heard of Tonga (and without sounding like a language or culture lesson). But I think I am slowly finding the balance!

Anyway, here is a cute snippet of what I have already:

Killua had made a habit of checking his phone constantly for translations, making sure to utilize common phrases like “thank you” and “hello” and “can I help you” so they’d become habitual. 

But this time, even with his handy app, he was baffled. The word had been ‘moa’. Abe had said it multiple times when talking to Gon, and he’d heard his name mentioned along with it. They’d been talking about him. Mito had used it, too, with a bashful chuckle. Upon consulting his phone’s dictionary, he’d had no trouble finding the translation:

Moa - n. a chicken, either living or to be eaten (Na’a mau kai moa fakapaku. We ate fried chicken.)

Killua shoved his phone in his pocket, not upset, but mostly confused. What did it mean? Was it an insult? A joke? Something else? Mindlessly, his feet carried him around the small house, past Mito who was cooking in the kitchen, past Abe as she wove on the porch, and straight to the back yard where Gon was sitting near Mito’s garden.

Gon let out a shameless squeaking noise as Killua approached him. “Killua, you look so pretty!” he exclaimed. 

Killua’s blush was red enough to rival the flowers around his neck. Gon eyed the necklace with a grin, pointing at an almost identical one that he was sporting with his floral green shirt. “We match!” Gon’s grin was so wide that Killua worried it might get stuck. He opened his mouth to say as much, but then Gon continued. “Abe made these for us from the heilala tree.” He pointed at a small tree by Mito’s garden. “They’re the flowers of royalty.”

“I- er… is it okay for me to wear this?” Killua asked lamely, suddenly struck with the fear that he was crossing a line.

In two long strides, Gon was in front of him with a comforting arm on his shoulder. “Don’t worry, Killua. Abe wouldn’t have made them if it was inappropriate. We wear them for special occasions, like for the feast tonight, but there are certain patterns for making them that are for the nobles only.” Gon’s arm shifted from Killua’s shoulder to hovering over his heart, touching the necklace gently as a thoughtful expression settled on his face. Killua wondered with horror if Gon could register his pounding heart from this proximity. “Plus,” Gon added softly, “you look so beautiful with it.”

Killua squirmed, biting back his usual response of how embarrassing Gon was. Instead, he said what was really on his mind. “As beautiful as a chicken,” he muttered before he could stop himself.

Gon’s eyes widened with an unasked question, then he muffled a laugh in his palm. “What does that mean?” The sentence barely made it out between his childish giggles.

“Don’t think I didn’t hear you and Abe gossiping earlier,” Killua grumbled as he plopped down onto the ground, adjusting his skirt carefully so he could sit cross legged. 

Gon was laughing harder now. “Wha- ahaha what are you talking about?”

“Oh, come off of it, already. You and Abe kept saying my name and the word moa. I know that means chicken! I’m just saying what I heard…” he trailed off, crossing his arms over his chest with a huff. 

Immediately, Killua wished he hadn’t said anything because Gon was laughing so hard the younger of the two was genuinely concerned that he might not be getting any oxygen. 

“Killuaaaa,” Gon guffawed, wiping a tear from the corner of his eye as he doubled over on himself.

“Geez, idiot, breathe!”

A deep breath in, disrupted by another laugh, an uneven breath out, followed by a deeper, calmer breath in. “Killua,” Gon whispered, clearly trying very hard to not lose himself to laughter again. “Moa means chicken, but it’s also a slang word.”

Ah. Yeah, English to Tongan dictionaries weren’t great for learning colloquialisms… Killua’s ears burned under tufts of white hair, ashamed that he’d even brought it up.

“Boyfriend.”

Killua’s head snapped up to meet a gentle, golden stare. Gon’s hands joined his own, which he’d folded in his lap. He nearly shuddered as Gon’s thumb stroked the back of his hand, leaving in its wake a trail of warmth that Killua secretly wished would never fade away. 

“Moa,” Gon said again, “it means boyfriend.”

It was uncommon between the two of them for Killua to be the one to short circut, and yet, his mind was suddenly buzzing with something equally comforting and annoying.

“Wait,” he began, slowly. “Then… are we? I mean… er-” Killua cleared his throat, glancing to the grass to his right. 

“We can be. Y’know… if Killua wants…” One of Gon’s hands left Killua’s lap to rub the back of his neck. “Abe and Mito have been teasing me about it all week. I didn’t want to make a big deal or talk to you about it if it made you uncomfortable, but…” his voice trailed off, leaving the wonderful but mortifying question hanging in the air.

“Of course I do, you idiot,” Killua muttered. Then, without thinking, he leaned forward and kissed Gon’s stupid slaphappy grin off of his face.

I saw something like 'oh if my water or something is being a dick ima not tip them' and I dont know how I feel about that? like its probably not easy to have to wait on a shit ton of customers a day and have them act all entitled? like my mom always taught us to not judge people when they are momentarily mean to you bc you dont know what they r going through? also in my religion there's this thing where you give someone 70 excuses b4 you pass judgement..empathy is a dying trend

yeah like the short time you spend talking to a waiter is literally not indicative of anything since they’re already in an unpleasant situation so it’s like. you can just be chill about it imo. also like it’s weird what we consider “rude” for people who do these jobs like..... a person being pissed off that day or tired or just out of it isn’t mean it’s whatever!! i mean if your waiter comes over spits on your drink and calls you a dick THAT’S disrespectful but other than that if you sat and ordered food and they went and got you food it’s alright like allow them to have their own shit going on please. ALSO that anyone would think the fact that the waiter wasn’t nice to you is somehow more important than the fact that your waiter seems to be having a terrible day like.. can we have some human decency can we PLEASE have some human decency? im baffled that people would judge a person for not being all nice and smiling at their job like dkfjhg you didn’t buy this person’s feelings you bought a coffee or a meal or whatever and they did their job

and then on top of that i feel like people really make it like... a moral thing to have the ideal attitude in the workplace like if you aren’t doing your job and putting effort into it and caring about it and smiling and being nice while you do it you’re somehow a failure and an asshole and all these bad things (and therefore you don’t deserve the money and that’s an unbelievable way to think because like... people need money to live??) and it’s not even just your employers opinion anymore, it’s the costumer’s and that costumer often shares social class with you but lots of people now see themselves more as costumers than as workers so you have people who’ve waited tables not wanting to tip people who wait tables because they weren’t nice enough even though they know it’s hard and that they need that money and they’ve gone through the same but they don’t feel identified with the person working because they construct their identities around buying things instead of doing things and it’s bananas tbh. the capitalist mindset is killing brain cells out there

anyways i feel like i ranted here and im sorry please do tip people if you can and be considerate and on the lookout for how certain ways of thinking might make you dehumanize people doing their jobs like it’s free to not say the person you bought a soda from was an asshole because you didn't like their tone and it also prevents me from getting sad about all this which i just think is a nice plus
