there r some parts of fanon i dont even really mind, or even some i like! the lazarus pit giving jason side effects isn't bad in and of itself, but when it crosses over into pit rage i always tap out. tapetum lucidum? interesting and uncanny!! little fangies ? will forever be allured... eyes glow sometimes? depends how u use it, but can be cool!

i will always be in favor of jason being the magic one. more all blades, more leaning into the fact that he crawled himself out of his grave and no one really knows why! there's so much potential for jason find himself outside of the batfamily, for distancing himself from their ideas of what doing good is...

Why is Jason Todd so victimized when every other bat has been through worse and I’m not saying this in a “ everyone moved on ” kinda way but compared to everyone else not much happened in his life he’s just a cunt which I personally love

hi, so:

i don't think it is fair or ethically correct to compare the amount of suffering batfamily went through, especially considering that all of them have a very, very different backstories, nuances and moments

i would actually argue that nothing happened in Jason's life. let's go through the short recap: depending on how you interpret the tragery of Todd family, as a very little kid Jason either witnessed his semi-normal family ruining itself or he never knew the normality of it at all. then, his father gets in jail, and Jason is left all alone with his sick, addicted mother that needs to be taken care of. at this point, he is not even ten, btw. he needs to take care of himself, of Catherine, to get money somehow, to find drugs for his mother because there is no alternative unless he wants her to die. in the search of money, it is very implied that Jason goes through the hell; surely, we all understand what it means. eventually, his mother dies. he witnesses it, holds her dead body, begging her to wake up. from there, his life on the streets start - and it is nowhere near kind. his three happy years with Bruce end up quickly, leaving him thinking that Bruce disowned him, and he is scared to be back on the streets. he finds his biological mother, and she betrays him. he dies, dies in pain and terror, betrayed. he wakes up in his own coffin, dugs himself out, breaking all his fingers. his body must have hurt immensely from all previous injuries, and yet, he crawls out. gets hit by a car and thrown on the streets again. he is catatonic, surviving on the streets for six months or so, all alone, just feeling constant pain and fear. then, Talia picks him up. eventually dips down in the Pit. his life doesn't get better from there, too. he remains unavenged, and from his point of perspective, discarded and made nothing but a bad story for future kids. his father instantly disowns him after his return, and throws batarang in his neck, slicing it, almost killing him (or killing him, actually, depending on your idea of what happened). and... and after that his life doesn't really fix itself either? you choose your next comic to rely on, but in the most of it he constantly gets jumped by his brothers, smashed around like a rag doll by Bruce, etc, etc. i would argue that it is a lot to happen to a person. especially, to a kid. because by the end of it, Jason is not even older than twenty-five, going through all of it.

fans love exploring his mental health issues, and it is very valid. especially, when comics ignore it completely or blame him for his own traumas. half of comics with Jason, also, have a classist undertone - they treat him like a dog and a rabid animal just because he was grown in the Park Row. writers victimblame him constantly for everything. so, idk about victimising, really.

i do agree that Jason's portrayal in the fanon is not always correct, though, either varying between making him some kind of rude, obnoxious idiot with only anger motivating him or a complete whump without personality which simply takes all complexity of a character from him, but then again, fanon being very different from canon is always a thing... everywhere, tbh.

he is the og brat, though. love him for it.

except each time you sneezed, it was always when a certain someone was talking with all her friends.

“achoo!” another sneeze escaped your lips as your eyes watered slightly. you sniffled, clutching your gym uniform in one hand as you prepared to change.

yunjin gave you a look. “are you sure you haven't just caught a cold? maybe consider putting on a sweater once in a while or, i don't know, not standing in the rain pretending you’re the main character?”

little did she know, you were the main character but i digress. 

“how else am i supposed get my princess to notice me? i ride my bike every single day hoping dani looks out her window and sees me.”

“sees you and then what? ‘look at her goofy ahh! she just got a rock caught in her gears and flew into a bush!’” yunjin laughed, completely unhelpful.

on the other side of the locker room, if you’d been paying attention, you might’ve heard a certain someone talking about you like you were the only girl in the world.

“i swear she does it on purpose just to get me to notice her,” dani whisper shouted to her friends. 

minji rolled her eyes, arms crossed. “i doubt y/n is literally riding her bike past your house just so you’ll notice her. maybe you’re the creep for conveniently ‘gazing out your window’ at the exact same time every day.”

“UM NO, I AM NOT? i simply happened to gaze uponith my window and see thy creature of great beauty,” dani said, clasping her hands dramatically over her chest.

“okay romeo, pack it up,” hanni muttered, slapping dani lightly on the cheek like a disappointed mom.

meanwhile, you and yunjin had just finished changing.

“achoo!”

yunjin jumped. “bitch i swear, if you get me sick i’m dragging you with me into the fiery pits of hell. i have a concert on friday. your sick little loser germs are not about to ruin that.”

“i swear i’m not sick! it’s always when i’m in this class. can pollen even get into locker rooms? i don’t have a sore throat or anything!”

“maybe it’s a sign you just need to be put down,” yunjin said, ruffling your hair like you were a dog. 

“i ain’t no dog, get your crusty hands off me,” you huffed, swatting her away.

from across the room, someone was fuming.

dani’s smile faded as she watched the two of you bicker. “there’s no way they’re not dating, right? come on. i thought i had a chance! our last conversation was so good!”

hyein tilted her head. “didn’t you just ask to borrow a pencil and never return it?”

“and now it sits in my pencil holder at home where no harm shall ever befall it.”

“cringey ass,” haerin murmured under her breath.

as everyone began to file out, you realized something.

“ah shit. i’m gonna lose marks for being a safety hazard or something.” you started rummaging through your bag. “yunjin, do you have a spare hair tie? pleaseeee?”

you looked at her with the most dramatic puppy dog eyes imaginable, hands clasped together like a pleading victorian child.

“no,” she said flatly.

“...”

“but i think dani carries extras with her.”

not thinking much of it, you made your way toward dani’s group as nonchalantly as you could, so nonchalant in fact, you could’ve sworn you heard the voices in your head go, “omg is that the nonchalant dread head??”

as you approached, the group suddenly fell silent. dead silent. did you stink or something?

“oh y/n, what’s up?” hanni asked casually, though her smile looked a little too bright.

fidgeting with the waistband of your gym shorts, you muttered, “uh, yunjin said dani had spare hair ties… was wondering if i could borrow one?”

dani’s eyes lit up like fireworks. “here! just make sure to return it after class, okay?” she said, digging through her bag with way too much enthusiasm.

“ah thanks! you’re the best!”

you turned and walked back to yunjin, feeling a little weird about how the group had just… stopped.

“yunjin, i think i have aura.”

“y/n your stink isn’t aura. that’s just bad hygiene.”

“HELLO? NO! when i walked over they just stared at me like i was a ghost or something.”

“well, if someone randomly approached me, i’d stop talking and stare too.”

“okay hater :/”

you were about to continue when-

“achoo!”

“man, maybe there’s like dust in here or something,” you grumbled, dragging yunjin out of the locker room with you.

meanwhile, dani was having a breakdown.

“she said i was the best, guys. i should start planning the wedding now,” dani whispered, then screamed, then whispered again. she bounced in place, violently shaking haerin’s shoulders.

hyein stared at her, unimpressed. “this is a whole new level of delusion, i fear.”

“shhh,” dani hissed, placing a finger on hyein’s lips while watching you and yunjin disappear down the hall.

“ugh why yunjin?” she groaned. “curse you! that’s supposed to be me!”

“someone slap her or i will,” hanni muttered, rubbing her temples.

gym class was uneventful… or at least, that’s what you’d say if you weren’t sneezing every two seconds.

“kazuha, i think i’m gonna google my symptoms. it’s probably cancer,” you sighed, sipping water on the bench. volleyball wasn’t really your sport, but you had a couple solid hits now and then.

kazuha turned to you. “you know, there’s a superstition where one sneeze means someone’s talking about you. two sneezes, someone hates you.”

you laughed. “and what’s three sneezes, huh?”

“that means someone loves you~”

you hadn’t sneezed three times in a row. a bummer, really. not that you’d mind someone liking you.

if anything, you had been liking someone for a while now.

that someone being-

“DANI! SPIKE IT!” hanni yelled from the court.

you turned to watch just in time to see dani jump and slam the volleyball over the net.

“stop staring so hard, you look constipated,” kazuha said, smacking your arm. yunjin plopped down beside you with a sigh.

“is y/n staring at her sweet dani again?”

“yep.”

“guys, can you blame me? she’s literally the light of my life. like literally. she’s so bright and perfect and-”

you launched into a full on speech about dani, using dramatic hand gestures and metaphors as kazuha and yunjin exchanged glances.

across the gym, dani glanced toward the benches and saw you laughing, eyes crinkled and head thrown back as you explained something to your friends. her heart sank.

“-and i know this is weird, but i’d buy her anything she wanted! not even in the ‘i’m rich’ way, but in the ‘i’ll go broke for you any day’ kind of way.”

“okay lover girl, chill. you haven’t even told her you like her.”

“YET.”

after class, you made your way back to the locker room, hair tie in hand.

you approached dani again, holding it out. “hey uh, thanks for the hair tie. here you go.”

dani saw this as her last opportunity to ask you out before you fell into the clutches of someone else. 

she took the hair tie before her eyes focused on yours. “hey, actually… do you maybe wanna get lunch or something after school?”

you smiled. “yeah, i’d love to.”

as dani turned to leave with her friends, grinning from ear to ear, you felt the tickle in your nose again.

Description: On you and Spencer's weekly movie night, a thunderstorm causes the power to go out.

A/n: this is the most self-insert reader ever lol. I hope theres other cm fans who enjoy Spencer and also the Saw franchise... Also i was inspired to write this because of a power outage.

Spencer Reid is always prepared. He thinks about every single possible outcome for a situation, and solutions to any problems that may arise.

This is why, tonight, you're cuddled up to Spencer in his bed, talking about anything and everything,with the company of a battery powered lantern that partially illuminates the room.

Earlier, everything had been going smoothly. You'd arrived at Spencer's apartment for your weekly movie night. Tonight it was your turn to choose, so of course, you were going to make your poor boyfriend watch a Saw movie. The third one, of course, since it's your favourite.

Sure, you've both seen your fair share of gruesome crime scenes, you could both stomach it. But you wanted to be nice, to him and yourself, by eating dinner before the movie, lest it ruin your appetite, which you were sure would happen.

Your turn to choose the movie usually means it's your turn to spit out a fun fact every five minutes, which you always had a wonderful time doing.

Spencer's commentary mostly consisted of "that wouldn't be survivable", and "I don't think they'd still be conscious at that point", which you giggled at and agreed to. You very much enjoyed his realistic analysis of every detail of every trap.

Just after the credits started rolling, large raindrops began to fall outside. Strong winds caused the droplets to whip against the windows, producing loud pangs that echoed through the apartment.

Soon after, this was accompanied by thunder and lightning. 

You didn't take much notice until the lights started flickering. It was getting late, and you knew Spencer wasn't too fond of the dark. Neither were you. Your mood was quickly clouded with anxiety.

Of course, Spencer notices the shift, he feels the same way. But he has a solution.

“If the power goes out, I have a battery powered lantern that I keep in my room.” He places a hand on your knee.

You smile, “Good to know.”

And as if on cue, the lights go out. Complete darkness envelops you both. You hear Spencer gasp quietly beside you.

“Let's go find that lantern.” You paw around, reaching for his hand to hold, ignoring the anxious pit in your stomach.

“Good idea. Very good idea.” He grips your hand as he carefully guides you to his bedroom, leading the way so you don't bump into anything. 

Your eyes begin to adjust to the darkness as Spencer blindly searches through his closet.

“Found it!” You hear a click as the bulb illuminates his nervous smile. He steps to place the lantern onto his bedside table.

A sigh of relief leaves the both of you as you huddle up close together on Spencer's bed.

“I don't like the dark.” You giggle slightly, nuzzling into his chest while you wrap your arms around his middle.

“Me neither.” He presses a kiss onto the top of your head while returning your embrace.

“Is it stupid to be scared of the dark at this age?” 

“Well, you don't know what's there or not if you can't see anything. Really, it's a fear of the absence of light. And no, it's not stupid, you can't control what you're afraid of, it's natural.” 

“Mm,” you nod, “do you also hate how quiet it is when the power is out? Like… you can't hear all the electronic humming that's always in the background, I feel like it's too quiet. I can't sleep when it's like that.”

“I find it quite calming, actually. It's one less thing to think about.” 

“Hm.” You pause, “So… who was your favorite character in Saw III?”

Spencer chuckles at the sudden shift in topic. “Well- I don't know how I'm supposed to choose, nobody's exactly um- a great person.”

“That's no fun! You're allowed to like a character who's horrible, they aren't real!”

“I guess… I don't know, the doctor, maybe? Lynn? She was able to perform brain surgery while basically at gunpoint, I'd say that's pretty impressive.”

You hum in agreement, “I like Amanda.” Spencer doesn't need to look at you to know you're grinning.

He chuckles, “I'm aware.”

“She's never done anything wrong.” You joke.

“Should I be concerned about that statement?” 

All he receives in response is a giggle as you ask another question about the movie. You love hearing every single little thought that Spencer has, especially if it's about something you enjoy.

There would be plenty more questions to come in the few hours that the power was out, and Spencer happily answered each of them with detail.

Okay so, this probably will get extremely long ksajhd

Dimentio is unconsciously reenacting what the Pixl Queen, or his sister Shadoo, did. After getting driven to madness by being resurrected in a vessel with the Dark Prognosticus, she brainwashed every Pixl, formed an army and tried to destroy the Ancients for their selfishness and supposed egocentrism, so she is technically destroying a kingdom.

I never worked much in the time-line of events, but before all of that happened, Dimentio and his mother Illuminata died, because Merloo, the father and great magician, was researching the Dark Prognosticus and one day he tries a spell and everything goes wrong.

A recurring theme in the family story is how everyone of them had a tragedy, the father gets obsessed with the Dark Prognosticus and kills both his wife and son in an accident, the mother dies protecting the son, the son is cursed with immortality by being bound to the book, and the sister gets ill because of the dark energy the house had, dies, is brought back, dies again, now by her brother's own hands, gets cursed and also locked away in the Pits.

You can say that Shadoo and Dimentio are the ones who suffered the most, and depending on how you see it, yeah they are, but imagine living the rest of your life thinking that you ruined everything, like, EVERYTHING, because a book was "that" important. That's why Merloo ends up helping with the Light Prognosticus, but also completely alone, as if you see in the game, he's the only sage who, apparently, has no descendants.

Before I forget, Pixl Queen Shadoo had the DP, when Dimentio "kills" her, he takes it, tries to protect it from evil, but reads it in morbid curiosity of what is written there, people steal it from him and then he starts getting insane, just like Bleck. ^v^

In conclusion, Dimentio is traumatized, but instead of having a chance to really think about his past and not commit any crimes, he has the DP talking in his head and leaving every other memory to the side, which is why he has kind of an amnesia and why he knows roughly where the thing is. In other words, the book makes you go crazy, and after living so many years and so many deaths I think that the person is very likely to just go apeshit after some point.

Ah, and about the thing with being a servant and wanting to be king at the same time, I don't take what he said in that part too literally, because I do believe that his motivation was to make a perfect world without all the rotten evil people in it, that would explain why he doesn't like the Count, Dimentio may know he's bad too, but he's being bad for a greater or purer reason. The role of servant is mostly just a strategy to be seen as someone who is vulnerable and eager to please, a perfect lie to hide the strings he's holding.

i want to share salt. have you ever had a ship that annoyed you so much it starts poisoning other ships you could have potentially liked? because this is me with xiyao vs nielan. like, xiyaos are so fucking loud and proud of the fact that he sides with jgy over everybody else multiple times in ways that turn out to be incredibly hurtful. so it gets to the point i can't even enjoy cute teenage nielan art knowing xichen is going to so catastrophically fuck this up by repeatedly writing off mingjue as just imagining things and lying to him and leveraging their relationship for someone else's benefit and handing his killer the method to kill him and that people are *gleeful* about all that.

First off, I want to offer you a hug, because this sort of feeling about fandom is never a fun thing to experience, and since you recognize that this is a salty ask, you might want nothing more than a "hey I see this and I get it in some part!"

But if you're thinking about how you might improve this situation and like, enjoy interacting with 3zun fandom again/mdzs fandom in general, I have a few ideas:

block everyone whose takes are pissing you off. There needs to be no bigger reason than "You know what, your takes are ruining this fandom experience for me" or "making me slightly more irritated than I would've been." There's no shame or like, anything wrong with this. Ultimately, we all live in this mosh pit of stuff together, and I might think everyone has a right to whatever kind of take they want, but I don't have to martyr myself on the cross of "hearing all sides" or whatever, and neither do you Nonny.

Recognizing which things are fanon and which are canon. This might help, but like, LXC doesn't, canonically, keep picking JGY at every turn. He is a flawed character with his own problems (as are they all in MDZS lol) but this is...not really what's happening? People can say what they want in their meta and their headcanons and interpretation of canon, but that doesn't make it...true.

this goes with 1 and 2 but also: if a fandom or a ship or a trope or something no longer brings you joy Nonny, there's always the opportunity to pack it up and leave it behind, either permanently or for a time. There's nothing wrong with not being "on" about a ship or fandom or recognizing that it was once something you really liked but not something you enjoy right at this very moment.

All that said, I'm personally of the opinion that there's a very loud and vocal part of the xiyao fandom (who exist on my blocklist by now) who've made me lose interest in the ship altogether, because the parts of the ship that I find most interesting -- the deceit, the almost gothic horror vibes, the slowly rotting center of their relationship when it didn't begin that way -- is obviously not what most (or what seems like most) people who ship it are looking for. And overall, I'm sure that it's no loss to not have me there, and that I (a NieYao girlie at heart) would not be welcome in that sandbox, so like, Nonny, I do get you and your frustrations. Ultimately I guess sometimes it's just easier to recognize that not all fandom spaces are welcoming and to find places that serve you better.

ive tried communicating and going to Quinns place and he won't respond my roommates are helping me get ready for a party I don't even want to go to. Liv my best friend is putting a light purple eyeshadow with a dark purple glitter on my eyes along with dramatic cat-eye lashes while Grace curls my hair adding glitter hairspray. feeling like a character from euphoria with a dress I borrowed from liv and high heel boots from grace we get into an uber and head to the party.

At the party

walking into the party hearing the bass from the speakers bumping loud following liv and grace where we end up in the kitchen getting a cup of Pink Whitney and a shot of tequila to get us in the mood to party. Liv and Grace grab my hand and take me into the living room where girls are dancing and gridding with the boys I see my ex Brayden in one corner talking to some blonde girl whose clearly super drunk while Matt,Jack and Quinn are in another corner sitting on the couch where some red head is sitting on Quinns lap whispering in his ear which sends a pit of rage into my stomach we haven't even officially broken up and here he is with another girl while I'm trying to keep us together ill show him what he's gonna regret. I let go of grace and liv and the first guy I see is Mark also one of Quinns teammates who got recruited from high school he's always had a thing for me and has even asked liv if she'd give him my snap when I was with Quinn which obviously pissed Quinn off but I thought it was sweet. QUAN CHI? QUAN CHI, YOU MEAN MY BELOVED QUAN CHI????? 👹

OKAY, so- I adore Quan Chi. Always have.

I played the original arcade games growing up (local arcade was the only one within miles and it kept the og games years after most arcades started to shut down) and when I tell you Quan Chi made me so happy when I was super young.

I really, REALLY love him in all the games, but MK1 especially. We get to see him pre-shang's-experiments, then after, when his eyes turn red, right?

But he just- he's beautiful. His voice is phenomenal, his emotions and inflections are stunning, and he's so wonderfully modeled that it actually hurts my heart in such a good way.

He's sexy as hell and I'm not afraid to say it.

He's MORE than cool as shit, he's fucking awesome! Not only is he cocky and keeps his massive grin, but we get to see so many little sides to him we as a fandom haven't ever explored before (such as- the apparent tenderness he actually seems to have in MK1, because there's a few scenes where he's actually pretty gentle-seeming.)

He seems far more... Drawn out? Or his words do. His movements are only sharp and quick when he wants them to be, but he holds himself high despite it all.

We get to see Quan Chi with far less of his experience from decades of sorcery unlike other games, where he's, of course, used to his powers. He's still equally good with them, but there is that sense that he's still learning in MK1 because it all just happened, yk? As in, the events that made Quan Chi go from his normal self and his life as a miner to more of Quan Chi as we know him.

Even still, he remains incredibly powerful, talented, and intelligent, able to manipulate about as well as Shang, but he's got a genuine side to him Shang just doesn't. (Perhaps it's Quan Chi's voice?)

I stand by the idea that Liu Kang was making this timeline one-handed, because hhhhhooooooly fuck, everyone is sinfully gorgeous, and Quan Chi is NOT an exception to that whatsoever.

Between his voice, his outfits, the way he holds himself, that massive grin he as in certain finishes, his smaller smile he gives Shang Tsung a few times during the storyline, and that arched nose??? Oooh boy, he ruins me.

I actually need more people to love him (and several other characters) more, and I need more Quan Chi content.

His powers are always wicked cool- and powerful- but in MK1, he just EVISCERATES anyone he's pitted against. It's insane!

His moves are not only crazy cool, but also crazy strong! He's so awesome dkdjfj

And as a long-time player, lemme say- when I was a kid, I thought he'd be more popular too. He's more mentioned, rather than content really being made for him, unlike more popular characters like Johnny or Liu Kang. (And frankly, there's several characters that I think need more love throughout multiple MK games, MK1 included ofc)

Quan Chi is:

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

Since Morph has become Tumblr-popular (and I am SO happy about that), I have seen a lot of people who interpret Morph's "can copy other mutants' physical abilities" in X-Men 97 to mean "Morph could potentially copy any mutant's power," and that's really not how it works. I'm not gonna ruin people's fun when they are playing around with the idea in fanfic, but Morph is a shapeshifter, not a power mimic. Actual power mimics in the comics, like Synch, Mimic, Hope and Rogue can use other mutants' powers, Morph can't. Technically Morph isn't really copying other mutant powers, they are using shapeshifting to give themselves certain abilities like flight or strength, and transforming into other mutants so that animators can throw in cameos. They don't HAVE to turn into Angel to give themselves wings, they could just shapeshift wings. In fact, that's usually what AoA/Exiles Morph does in the comics, even when "turning into" other people as a gag he keeps his base form. My headcanon is that Morph finds it easier to use other mutants as a template for physical characteristics like wings or claws. I'd also love to see an arc where Morph learns to shapeshift multiple characteristics of other mutants (like Wolverine's claws, Colossus metal skin, Angel's wings) without fully turning into anyone, and it's both greater mastery of their powers and also Morph learning more confidence and self-acceptance.

I think X-Men 97 really muddied the waters by directly stating that Morph can "copy physical characteristics" without explaining what that means. Turning into Quicksilver for superspeed was especially stretching it, and although I love making Morph more powerful, I was like "Bullshit," at that scene. The show really should have tossed in an "explainer" somewhere, like maybe newcomer Sunspot asks Morph how their powers work, and Morph explains. That could have also gotten into why Morph appears more powerful in 97, and their changed appearance, another thing I wish the show had addressed.

The existence of Shinobi Shaw, canonically the abused son of a supervillain, strongly implied to be bi, a rich and handsome "bad boy" who could easily be sympathetic, he would absolutely do numbers on Tumblr if a comic or show would just bring him to people's attention.

Also - Stevie Hunter - Kitty Pryde/the New Mutants' dance instructor, one of the few human allies of the X-Men that hasn't been killed or turned against them. Kind, strong, brave as hell, I want her back in comics, but I also don't, for fear that she would get killed off.

Also that time that Madelyne Pryor was given healing powers by Loki and called herself Anodyne and wanted to help people, but that's been far overshadowed by Goblin Queen Maddie.

Oh, and apparently in one of the X-Men novels written by Claremont, Frenzy is secretly a fan of Pyro's books.

Oooooh boy, I have several. I'll leave aside the useful conservative bullshit that springs up whenever a character happens to be gay, trans, a PoC, etc., we've all been through the usual nonsense of "I have nothing against characters being gay, I'm just going to pick apart and find fault with every gay character in comics." That's old hat.

But for X-Men:

Arguments about Jean/Logan, Jean/Scott, Emma/Scott just seem to bring out the worst in everyone. Personally, I hate Jean/Logan, and I'm meh on Emma/Scott, but arguments always devolve into a character bashing, especially Emma vs. Jean. Why pit two queens against each other? They are both great.

Certain X-Fans have obviously not read any Marvel comics outside the X-Men, and love to bash on groups that have been set up against the X-Men in any event, like Avengers or Inhumans (and we all know that big events crossovers like AvX or IvX are generally pretty stupid forced conflict). I know writers have "called out" the Avengers for not doing more to help mutants, but what exactly do fans want? Do you want the Avengers to come flying in and solve every problem the X-Men face? Then there would be complaints about the Avengers dominating X-Men books. We all know why the Avengers can't save mutants whenever there's yet another massacre, it's because the X-Men's whole thing is "feared and hated," and it would ruin stories if the Avengers fixed everything. It's the awkwardness of these characters existing in a shared universe, I just accept that the Avengers are usually busy with their own stories in their own books. And while I can understand the frustration of X-Fans during the Inhumans push, as a fan of both groups I have limited sympathy for people still wanting to dance on the Inhumans' graves years afterwards. God forbid the X-Men not be the center of Marvel publishing for a brief time, or that the Inhumans actually get a few books of their own.

"Child soldiers." This is another one that writers have tried to address in-book, but to me it's about as silly as treating Sailor Moon, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or the Power Rangers as "child soldiers." Is Zordon a manipulative child abuser because he specifically asked for "teenagers with attitude"? Or do we accept this as a power-fantasy for kids, just like the 60's X-Men comics generally were? If anything, Xavier has a greater excuse for recruiting teens than other super-heroes, mutants usually gain their powers at puberty and that puts them in immediate danger. And fandom only ever seems to drag Xavier for the X-Men being "child soldiers," even though Cable was actively turning the New Mutants into a paramilitary group in the 90's. Meanwhile, Xavier actually seemed to grow and change from the 60's, since he actively tried to keep Kitty Pryde and the New Mutants out of danger instead of sending them into the field. The X-Men have always recruited and endangered teens, even when Xavier is retired or dead.

Related to the above, the "Professor Xavier is a jerk," thing. And I don't even like Xavier much, but he gets dragged more and held to higher standards than characters who were actual villains and mass murderers. Xavier has done some incredibly shitty things, but fandom seems to love cherry-picking all his worst moments, or even just panels where he appears to be a jerk, completely devoid of context. Some common arguments are just wrong, like people claiming that Xavier "abandoned the New Mutants to go bang Lilandra," which is just blatantly NOT what happened in the comics. If you want a story about Xavier abandoning his students and leaving them in the hands of a former terrorist, the whole Changeling story is much more fucked up, Xavier actively chose to not only have Changeling stand in for him, he gave Changeling some of his telepathic powers. And they didn't even have the long-standing friendship of Xavier and Magneto, so there's no reason for trust there. If we're going to drag Xavier for his many sins, let's at least drag him for what he's actually done.

Blue Eye Samurai ending spoilers>>

I stayed up way too late finishing off the show and I'm glad I did! I've never seen a better written animated series. It's kind of a unicorn. Creator-driven series written for adults that isn't some poor hireling desperately trying to express something meaningful through a corporate IP. No shade on all the earnest animated video game and capeshit out there, but- well yeah. Maybe a little shade. Fanfiction is always easier.

BES also wasn't just an occasionally edgy YA show like ATLA or Korra (or the Spiderverse stuff, sorry) or style over substance like the old MTV series. The creators had an idea, and they sweat blood to make it happen. Kudos to Netflix for letting them do their thing.

That ending though, man. I get wanting to subvert what everyone was expecting. And I trust these writers to know what they're doing. When someone gives you eight hours of badassery, you give them the benefit of the doubt. But it's bad feels not getting the catharsis of the Big Bad's demise at the end. The show does a fantastic job of making you despise Fowler. He's not a grey villain, he's friggin' Satan. And you don't get to see him drown in his own blood after all that struggle! It's rough!

What's even a little more alarming though is the reality of Mizu leaving all the cool characters and hanging relationships she's spent the whole series building up. And why? To go to London?? That's weird! London is gross! I don't like the idea of leaving the rest of the cast behind! I hope the writers have some kind of awesome idea for English shenanigans to make up for losing them. Will the story bounce back to Japan to see what Akemi's doing and how Taigen deals with the rejection? I care at least as much about them as about Mizu. Ringo's probably safe making kitchen knives tho.

Leaving so much unresolved is tough stuff. It'll be years before a second season comes out - and maybe it never will. If that happens, I'm going to be pissed that they structured their story this way. But if it does happen and it's worth the wait, then I admire the bravery.

I just got three criticisms that caught my eye: The Fowler fight was way too similar to the giant fight. What I would have loved to see was Fowler with an arsenal of hidden guns and him and Mizu fighting each other through the burning building as she slowly whittled down his fire power before ultimately savaging him. Any time you pit Mizu hand to hand against anyone with such obviously massive physical strength, you're shattering the illusion. Even if she was a dude, she's a dex build. I'm still not clear on what she bit off Fowler's face to escape that hold. It wasn't his nose or tongue? Clarity there would have been nice and felt good.

Seki's death was flagged so hard it almost ruined the impact for me because then I was just looking for it to happen. RIP Seki, he was such a cool character.

The licensed tracks were always distracting. No anachronistic music in a period piece!

PIT BABE, The hot mess.

I feel like the story was just adapted from novel on surface level and they didn't really creat much changes except giving some screentime to side characters. Way was the same friend as novel but they write flashbacks so people would feel little sympathetic about his death. But things got turned how they turned because Nut acted too fabulously out of his character. His eyes always expressed a sadness that it created a past story which wasn't written in script and made people feel for him more.

On the other hand ( don't hate me for this) ,Charlie actor didn't delivered his character on the same level. And so in the end people end up sympathizing with Way more. Like whenever Way looks at Babe, anyone can believe this man is sadly pining after his 10 year one sided love. Whenever Babe looks at Charlie, love droops from his face and it's in his sparkling eyes that says Charlie means world to him. Whereas, Charlie most of times he appears as.... yk reading the script.( swallow the bitter pill) . Even in supposedly emotionally charged scenes like in ep 7 confrontation or in ep 9 him saving Babe, his expression just doesn't appear as much compelling or convincing. At most he was just a prop while Pavel carried their whole love arc emotions. ( It might be different for novel readers as they had context but I as just series watcher felt so. Tbh, I see more chemistry in PavelPooh bts scenes or events and interviews than on screen. Their visual slays. ). That might be why I couldn't get into main cp scenes and was about to drop at ep 3, but then restaurant scene of Way and Babe in ep 4 caught my interest and the chemistry ( even as friends) was spotted there and I continued to see more of how Way character or his dynamic with Babe is gonna turn out. ( And AlanJeff happened and so saved the show for me. Sorry not sorry. )

But actors acting skills doesn't really make that much difference as most of the times script compensates for it by NOT writing any chemistrying scenes with any other character.

So, I don't understand where the directors were going with when they gave so many emotionally charged scenes to Babe and Way. These two were fabulous prettiest criers as ice on cake. And their toxic codependent homosexual friendship/relationship was very well fleshed out. Babe got a new boy, and we saw all of Way jealousy, pining, manipulation, loneliness. Babe going to him after Way is upset, their fight, his constant ' you're my best friend, I love u. ' Their slow falling apart, ugly betrayal, past betrayal relationship and apologies and end death.

Like after finale there might be something we felt we didn't got from fixed pairs , whether BabeCharlie, AlanJeff, NorthSonic. But there isn't anything that could be felt lacking from Babe Way relationship ( whatever more than friends less than lovers, toxic but wanting, torturous/ codependent / possesive friendship not friendship their relationship was ) . This relationship arc was fully delivered in all of it's gloriously doomed tragedy.

So it kinda felt like Way and Babe were main characters and their tragic story was main focus. But since tragedies doesn't attract people, they pretended Babe and his love for Charlie was main focus. ( yes, Change lied till the end).

Yeah, i also don't wanna believe this, but there wasn't any step we didn't see of their relationship. Way pinning after his friend for a decade, doing everything to separate him from other lovers but never confessing himself. Taking care of him, by his side always, waiting , snapping when finding himself at the edge and with one decision ruining everything, ignoring the love of another men, then dying saving his only love.. Like can you see MY LOVE MIGHT BE TOXIC BUT IT WAS TRUTH AND MAYBE WAS TOO MUCH FOR YOU And Babe crying, forgiving other of everything in instant, , saying I won't be angry at you anymore. Crying I love u three times at the end when Way was taking his last breadths, if that was what all Way wanted to hear Babe would say it, in desperation for other to not leave him anyhow. Even after receiving worst and most hurtful betrayal of his life, still not letting go of other. Wishing to meet in next life. Can you see this MY LOVE MAYBE WAS NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU BUT IT WAS TOO DEEP FOR ME AND TRUE TO ITS ENDS.

Did you see it? THE CINEMA. 💀

I mean i also get that sloppy writing mess, illogical death instead of good redemption arc, undigestable instant forgiveness from Babe, pointless Pete Kenta triangle. But if we take what show delivered, that's what ( Way Babe) they served us on gold platter. We just ignoring it bcz our fave ships. Trust me I was also too immersed in pete way myself but you see when Way got shot Pete didn't come running to him and was holding Charlie while Tony delivered that monologue. Pete ( the man who is supposed to have good body balance and never missing his targets) couldn't shoot Tony and was listening the blabbering while Way was bleeding on floor. Like 🙃💀 I'm sorry, His death scene was written so bad. 😭. They all cried but no one pressed on his wounds, neither anyone called ambulance. He was alive for like ten minutes to talk to Babe. Atleast they should have given him a good death scene 😭. Way deserved that much atleast.

First of all, you've come to the right place. If you didn't see my other most recent ask, I'm a BSD s4-5 hater, and an Asagiri hater as a whole, really, after seeing the kind of shit he's pulled.

Second of all, let's get something straight here: FYODOR IS NOT DEAD. You can't EVER tell me that 1) a BSD character of importance has actually died for real and 2) his dead body was not even shown on screen and Dazai said "HE'S DEFINITELY DEAD" HAHAHAHA. LAUGHABLE. ATROCIOUS. He's obviously gonna come back minus one arm. Asagiri doesn't care about logic or good storytelling, anymore. It won't matter that a helicopter literally BLEW UP WITH HIM IN IT, Asagiri will be like "um akshually" and then the worst possible plot convenience explanation ever, just like EVERYTHING IN THE NEWEST SEASONS HAS BEEN SO FAR.

Like please. I'm SUCH a hater right now. I don't ever want to see more BSD content. I'm done. Wrap it up. The vampires were enough. I didn't need fucking CHUUYA PRETENDING TO BE ONE AND MAKING THE AUDIENCE JUST BELIEVE THAT FYODOR WAS STUPID ENOUGH TO THINK HE ACTUALLY WAS A VAMPIRE?? HELLO? Smart person, who??? Fyodor and Dazai came off as intelligent in their first few appearances together. Fyodor's BANGER scene with Ace? I'll never get over it. I LOVED that. Was it a BIT of a stretch in a lot of areas? Yeah! BSD has always been that way. But it absolutely lost its course and any sort of grounding in reality or good storytelling when it came to S4-5. All of the "'''''''intelligent'''''''''' characters are now just plot convenience masters. It's absolutely ridiculous. We went from high school level reading to kindergarten shit.

And I never thought I could be made to HATE Dazai. But these new seasons turned up the "oo I'm so quirky" dial on his character so hard that I completely disconnected with him and Fyodor and couldn't stand whatever scenes we got with them together. The whole prison break scene was devastating, too. What EVEN.

Coming from a writer's perspective, this is just the LAZIEST plot I have ever seen in an anime. Asagiri spent NO amount of effort deciding how to make characters work to get themselves out of whatever pits they fell into. He just went "oh and then this other guy swooped in and fixed it! Easy peasy! I'll beat up Kenji again! And then I'll give him this VERY IMPORTANT rage form suddenly that was NEVER explored and NEVER mentioned until just now! For like two minutes so he can "beat" this guy in a fight and then let him go because NOBODY DIES EVER!"

I seriously can't. I knew Dazai wouldn't die but all the fan theories of how Dazai wouldn't die were better than what actually happened. It's almost amazing the amount of non-effort that went into these season arcs.

After finishing them, I now hate Gogol, Fyodor, Dazai, Chuuya (more than before), Atsushi, Fukuchi, Ranpo (though I've never once had a positive thought about him) and basically everybody--except Akutagawa was okay, Sigma, Jouno, and Tetchou had potential, and Bram was very cute. They ruined everyone else so badly that it felt like OOC versions of them. Or did next to nothing with them, like Jouno and Tetchou. ESPECIALLY DAZAI. I will be malding over Dazai for FOREVER now. Why the hell did they turn him up to 100 on the most annoying parts of his personality???

In conclusion, not a single thing went right in those episodes, it was all "oh this could be go-- [GETS RUINED]" over and over again. There was a SINGLE episode that made me happy in S4 and it was that one where Gogol was introduced and he yanked on Atsushi's leg and stuff and that was IT. LMFAO.

Okay I have to cut myself off or I'll go on for hours. THANKS FOR ASKING ME ABOUT IT, IT WAS ALL BOTTLED UP IN ME.

The Major or also known as the Reaper. Margaret seems to look past your kitsune heritage. She's one of the only people who look at you as a person. She is the one in charge of your unit and from what you've heard she is holding back her powers. She's supposed to be much more volatile than she shows.

Your follower and sworn sword from birth. Annos family has been serving yours since the beginning of your family's reign. She tends to only interact with you and your men. Other than that she stays in the shadows. She is your confidante and at times only friend in the pit of vipers. Anno will die before seeing someone strike you.

Lady Aurora - The Empress's right hand and the head of Military operations.

Master Haruto- Your father and head of the family. To say your Farther is a great warrior is an understatement. He is one of the few in the royal court to go against the Empress. And live.

Lady Hikari- Your mother. She has quite the muscle talent and affinity with the arts.

Major Hiroshi- Your older Brother. He is part of the royal guard but always makes time to see you and your sister.

Lady Kaida- Your older sister. She has had her ups and downs with her health but when she sees you it's always with a smile. She graduated from the academy a few years ago and is away on orders from the Empress.

Things That Make Me Cry

Because I'm an absolute sap and sometimes the characters are just so unexpectedly SOFT. Either that or something absolutely tragic happens to ruin everything. Anyways a compilation of things or ideas for scenes and characters that will make me sob. They may also make you sob.

When a character forgets their drink or lunch and the other just randomly appears out of nowhere to provide them with what they're missing like YOU DO CARE!

no but the little reality check moment when someone is just like, "you deserve to be cared for" or "you don't have to fight against the world alone" my heart,,, guys my heart

there is something about a character, a mentor or a parent or something, always pushing their child or protege. pushing and pushing and never realizing how close to the edge they've pushed. how scarred and numb they have made their little apprentice. something about the apprentice, in their most vulnerable moments, refusing any care or sleep, because they were told by those that guided them, that to accept any care would mean they failed

it's a mix of sad and frustrating for me to see characters self-sabotage their relationships. they lash out and try to prove the people around them wrong. because they would rather be hated than vulnerable.

best friends that wanted it to be them against the world. they were kids and so close already it felt like a given that it'd always be that way. but as they get older, as they grow to live in other places, make other friends, and slowly drift away, it's almost like looking at a stranger. and through the circumstances of the world and the cruelty of it all, they are pitted against each other trying to uphold each of their own morals.

grief of any kind. there is something about the sadness and solemn looks as they honor their loved one. it is tragic especially when that loved one died young. something about how they leave the toys laying around, that one extra plate of food no one will eat, graves inspired by their favorite cartoon. something about how they are trying to keep them alive.

seeing everything go wrong for a sweet character. the definition of life isn't fair. that feeling of doing everything right only to have it be for naught and seeing the frustration, the breakdown. that voice inside their heads screaming that they failed.

24. what faceclaim did you start off disliking, that you ended up enjoying or even playing? how did that come about? (non problematic, a personal preference)

i used to not like rosé a lot because of some people i met who played her as the wannabe mean girl, but it was really them self inserting and taking it personally when people didn't like their characters. i've gotten over the ick primarily after meeting @saintamor, so when i think of her i think of kaz now :P

25. what faceclaim did you start of loving, and now loathe? (non problematic, a personal preference)

not going to lie, most of the ones i don't want to interact with now were faceclaims i really liked, namely son na.eun and jang ye.eun. i interacted with two separate people who used her and they were so odd that they just ruined the faceclaim completely for me.

the first person used both faceclaims in a group verse we both joined. for context, they seemed to have a problem with me and my characters and acted like we were in a weird rivalry both ic and ooc. they ended up godmodding a lot of stuff their character wouldn't have known about mine. they even resorted to sending weird, borderline misogynistic anon messages to the group gossip blogs to pit my characters against theirs. i sussed out that it was them sending the posts because when the first group closed, i carried my character over to another with the rper who wrote their best friend. the ye.eun mun followed with theirs and the same anons started getting sent in to that group and i got fed up and dropped my character.

they also like. confessed after that they wanted their character to get with mine's best friend, and "bragged" about "beating me" to getting the ship that they wanted 💀 a lot of other things happened that i probably won't go into detail about in this post, but it was very early y2k girl rivalry vibes and i hated it.

the other person who used ye.eun was really weird. she got mad that a ship between our characters didn't work (i was weirded out by how angry and aggressive she was when her very dislikable character was ... well... disliked). she always messaged me privately to express her anger about it, then claim in the group verse chat that she was fine and that it "wasn't that deep". the last straw was pretty much her making weird comments about my character being brown skinned and therefore "dirty" and "sick with all sorts of diseases".

needless to say, to this day i cannot look at ye.eun the same. her face triggers my fight or flight instinct 💀

26. what faceclaim do you wish you could play, and why haven't you used them/yet?

this sounds bananas but sometimes i look at faceclaims people tend to "play" a certain way and take them and just. play them the complete opposite way, if that makes sense. like a faceclaim commonly used for the "mean girl" trope being a sweet little thing or a faceclaim who plays the toxic jock as a well meaning golden retriever type. i also think about getting all the other faceclaims that give me the "ick" based off how people play them, but that would be like. 90% of popular idol faceclaims and i don't know if i want to do that to myself.
