hey just wanted to say thanks for calling out that twitter thread…I don’t use twitter so I can’t engage with it but from what I heard it also misses the fact that not all russian speakers are russian. my great grandparents weren’t russian but it was their first language anyway and they taught their kids even after fleeing when it wouldn’t have been as useful and my mom even has a degree in it and while I don’t speak it I still am somewhat fond of it
