One of the most human and relatable storylines in The Crown was based on an actual royal showdown between the real Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

The royal couple's argy-bargy was said to have occurred during their Australian tour in 1954, as reported by The Crown’s historian Robert Lacey.

Their row was allegedly caught on camera. According to author Ingrid Seward, a TV crew were secretly filming the chalet where the Queen and her husband were staying.

As shown in the episode, any footage of their argument is unlikely to exist. The film clip was handed over to the Queen, for which she thanked the crew personally.

A Very Royal Scandal review: Rises above Scoop with a more thoughtful take

The question is, and certainly should be, does it measure up in its own right, as both a piece of drama and an exploration of this period in recent history?

However, because of Scoop's success earlier this year, there is also another question out there, one I'm sure the team behind would prefer wasn't the centre of attention - how do the two compare?

On this front, A Very Royal Scandal actually comes out favourably, as the superior telling of this story. While Scoop was ably performed and highly watchable, it also felt somewhat surface-level - an adaptation which failed to get under the skin of its characters, or examine the events it was depicting.

The grand total of Scoop's exploration was seemingly an assertion of the power of journalism - a perfectly fine assessment, but not particularly surprising or noteworthy. A large amount of that film's intrigue came from its picture-perfect recreations of real-life individuals, images and videos, particularly the interview itself.

A Very Royal Scandal, on the other hand, partly by dint of its extended runtime, is more interested in both the inner lives of its two central figures, Maitlis and Andrew, as well as the limitations of journalism, and the wider impact of a one-hour, on-camera conversation.

It tells its story across three episodes, and three distinct chapters. The first focuses on the build-up to the interview, much as Scoop did. It feels fairly familiar.

The second focuses primarily on the interview itself and the surrounding days. Again, not dissimilar to the Netflix film.

The third is where this show deviates, as it follows its central figures in the days, weeks, months and indeed years following the interview.

This third episode is by far and away the strongest, in part because it's traversing new terrain, but also because of the complexity of its discussion.

In focusing in on the lives of Andrew, Maitlis and others after the interview, it isn't afraid to examine the downsides, as well as the up. It isn't simply a celebratory lap around for Wilson's Maitlis, nor is Sheen's Andrew villainised.

Instead, the duo both, in their own ways, struggle to come to terms with exactly what has happened, or how they should feel about it.

In truth, that is the case throughout the series, even in between the more mocking and satirical scenes, pricking Sheen's Andrew's pomposity. There is an emotional rawness to the characters, and an interest in the personal, beyond the professional or political, which was largely lacking in Netflix's version.

The cast are unsurprisingly impressive. Sheen does a typically assured job as Prince Andrew, getting laughs when he needs to, provoking outrage when it is called for and appearing a tragic figure, all without externally making a call on his motivations, truths or untruths.

It's a role that Sewell excelled in and brought to life effectively in Scoop, but the additional runtime affords Sheen and the writers the opportunity to delve more into the character's psyche and his relationships with those around him. [...]

A Very Royal Scandal (2024) Review: A Royal’s Fall from Grace

Michael Sheen and Ruth Wilson give two knockout performances that are buried under convoluted character development and a refusal to definitely cast a character in an entirely good or entirely bad light which ultimately leaves them in no man’s land rather than paints them as complex beings. While Maitlis was an executive producer on the show, the series could have greatly benefitted from the inclusion of more female collaborators to tell a story that relies so heavily on the power of women using their voices.

His chameleonic power seems muted, while her attempt to capture Maitlis’s grave diction makes the broadcaster sound glutinously smug. There are nice turns from Joanna Scanlan as Andrew’s hapless secretary Amanda Thirsk and a bouncy Claire Rushbrook as Fergie. As factotum Sir Edward Young, Alex Jennings is so dry you fear he’ll blow away.

Sheen has a bit more freedom in his interpretation of the prince, given that much of the show’s assumptions about Andrew’s relationships and state of mind are made up out of whole cloth, and he navigates a delicate balance of fact and fiction throughout. 

His portrayal of Andrew is perhaps more thoughtful than the man himself truly deserves, as Sheen presents the disgraced royal as almost laughably out of touch and fully oblivious in the way that only the very rich and extremely well-connected can ever really manage. Having never faced anything like consequences or accountability for his actions, Sheen’s Andrew often seems genuinely startled to discover that he could, and even his most delusional statements—such as claiming he can’t sweat or that there’s no way he could be expected to remember every woman he’s been with, sexually speaking—are made with the sort of absolute belief that only comes from spending an entire life never once being told you’re wrong. 

It’s a performance that is often difficult to watch for all the right reasons, if only because Sheen makes it so easy to see how this self-involved, self-interested man has sailed through life considering nothing but his own desires and never, ever paying for the consequences of his choices. He finds genuine bits of humanity in Andrew’s relationship with his daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, as well as his obsessive insecurity about his place within the hierarchy of the royal family. It’s not a sympathetic portrayal, by any stretch, but it is a surprisingly layered one. 

Where Scoop often comes across as cheerleading for the practice of journalism in general and as it’s practiced at the BBC specifically, A Very Royal Scandal opts for a more thoughtful approach, asking what, if any, good this interview actually did. [...]

Jake Paul knocks out Andre August in the first-round

Orlando, Fla. - At the Caribe Royale Resort, the man people love to hate, Jake Paul (8-1, 5 KOs), returned to the squared circle in front of a sold-out crowd. The famous social media influencer entertained his loyal fans in attendance, dancing to the ring to Brenda Lee's 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree.' Right behind him, there was a giant robot humanoid waving to the crowd.

But this turned out to be just the appetizer as Paul delivered another stunning knockout inside the ring.

Paul's opponent, Andre August (10-2-1, 5 KOs), is a three-time Golden Gloves champion, and the Houston, Texas native is the second boxer Paul has faced. August wasn't a former mixed martial artist, fellow YouTube star, or a former NBA player. He has been a professional boxer since 2013. Although almost ten years older than Paul at 35, August was thought to be able to at least test the loquacious star's skillset, however long the fight lasted.

Unfortunately for August, but to the excitement of the crowd in attendance, Paul secured a highlight-reel first-round knockout. After a tense few minutes, filled with counter-punching and jab exchanges, Paul picked up on August's tendency to duck before throwing. A feint by Paul set up a right uppercut that firmly put August down for the count. No count was needed.

Paul's previous knockout came in December 2021 in a rematch with Tyron Woodley at the Amalie Arena in Tampa. Since then, he has gone the distance against the likes of Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, and Tommy Fury. August was likely picked for a reason, and the victory shouldn't be overly celebrated. However, Paul is showing steady improvements with each outing, and a title opportunity could come sooner than later.

"Man, I don't know what I proved tonight," Paul expressed in the ring during the post-fight interview with Ariel Helwani. "I'm just gonna do me. This is all part of the process, the next step to world champion. And clearly these guys can't hang with me. He didn't even last [three] minutes. He's been doing this his whole entire life. So, what's next? It's gonna be even bigger."

Paul is one of the few fighters in the sport who is able to navigate the direction his career takes. His fights can be purely events or real showdowns that test where he lies within his respective division should he choose. With a majority of boxing's top fighters, including box office attractions and the pound-for-pound elite, fighting just once or twice a year at the most, Paul staying active is only to the benefit of the sport.

Franchon Crews-Dezurn wins the vacant WBC super middleweight championship

In the night’s co-main event, Shadasia Green (13-1, 11 KOs) battled former undisputed super middleweight champion Franchon Crews-Dezurnn (9-2, 2 KOs). The bout was for the vacant WBC super middleweight title. Green came out to wrestling legend The Undertaker’s theme music but did not fight with a sense of urgency. Crews-Dezurn used her championship-level experience to outwork Green in most of the rounds. The Baltimore native was an underdog against Green, who was considered the bigger puncher.

All three judges scored the fight for Crews-Dezurn with scores of 98-92 and 97-93 twice.

Grateful for having the opportunity to go to the Daman beach and enjoy the beauty of it. The beautiful sunset, the waves flowing, people enjoying camel & horse rides, engaging in some water sports. What a day it was, My nephew, Reyansh made the most of it. I did my meditation sitting on the boundary of the waves. Too good and beautiful of a day. We also went to Haldiram's Vapi where I had the yummy Raj Khachori, mother had Dahi Puri, sis had Veg Momos whereas Reyansh had French Fries. The beauty of nature, beaches, mountains is immense, and we just have to be very much grateful to have that opportunity. I consider myself to be so much lucky, blessed and grateful. Today, I played FIFA 22 on PS5 manager mode, where I am managing Real Madrid CF. We sit at the top of the table in LaLiga and through to the knockout rounds in UCL. I also washed my Crocs, did meditation, had grapes, mango shake, now writing this gratitude journal, wathcing my beloved Rajasthan Royals where Jaiswal is on a carnage. What a day already, will be having dinner and then venture out for a run/ walk/ cycling. Also will lift weights in some time from now. Come on man, let's go, vamos & siuuuuuuu!!

Encountering the smiling teenager working the tills or up to her elbows in compost potting plants, customers would have had no idea she was 16th in line to the throne.

Yet the girl at the garden centre was none other than Lady Louise Windsor, the unassuming daughter of Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex.

Since finishing her A-levels in June, she has been working there for the teenage minimum wage of £6.83 an hour, not just getting her hands dirty, but learning what it’s like to be in the real world, with real people, earning her own money.

How refreshing to see a royal mixing with us ordinary folk. As one person she served said: ‘It’s not every day you buy your begonias off a royal.’

Yes, Louise’s work experience may be temporary, but what a breath of fresh air that she’s not behaving like a pampered princess — did I mention Beatrice and Eugenie? — and is instead doing what any sensible teenager should in her summer holidays.

She’s been encouraged to take the summer job, no doubt, by her down-to-earth parents. Ever since Harry and Megs stomped off, Edward and Sophie have taken on more duties and risen up the royal ladder.

Yet they don’t seek headlines or court controversy. They perform their royal work quietly and without fuss, just as Princess Anne has done for her entire life.

It’s not always been the case, of course. Edward was pilloried for his disastrous It’s a Knockout in the 1980s, while Sophie had to resign from her PR firm in 2001 after she made rude comments about royals and politicians to an undercover reporter.

Yet they redeemed themselves through hard graft and a sense of duty. And now they’re teaching their daughter to do what so many parents wish their teenagers would do: get off their lazy behinds (and smartphones) and get a job.

It’s what we all did in my generation. Aged 15 in Western Australia, I worked weekends and holidays at the local supermarket and was promoted to the checkout, one month winning the ‘fastest check-out chick in the west’ award.

I’d make all young royals spend time working in the real world. What an invaluable experience it would be for them to learn about mucking in.

My one and for now only semi-farfetched theory about RotT

SPOILERS FROM THE TEASER TRAILER OF RISE OF THE TITANS!!!

If you've rewatched 3Below as much as me you probably remember this moment:

Now, I know Fialkov is no more as much as the queen... but so we thought about Angor Roth (who died, like, twice) and Morgana before Wizards, so... who knows? 😅

And while I do doubt that Krel's arc, even if done right, will cover that much of the movie considering how many protagonists we have, I still think there are a few unresolved matters left with the parents. Like how Fialkov didn't give Krel the appreciation he deserved for his inventions, or how they showed multiple times with Voltar and Vex' family that they weren't exactly the best rulers ever 🤔🤔

The Arcane Order has already showed that they can revive someone no problem. If (again very big IF, this is more something I would like rather than something I really think could happen 🤣) they actually did that with the king and queen, they would get two Akiridions that lost most of their memories since they used them to protect their children in The Big Sleep. Considering that their past doesn't seem something particularly glorious (thank you Vex), they might even have a regression to a time in which they were merciless and cruel. And even if that didn't happen they might not remember their kids or not know better 🤷��♀️🤷‍♀️

A confrontation with their kids might be very interesting I think, especially since the king and queen were wrong about lots of stuff:

Coranda wanted Aja to accept her royal status and stop running away, while our warrior princess had a major adventure on another planet (even if not exactly willingly) only to take the throne at HER own conditions, no one else's... and yes I did sob at seeing her all dressed up as a queen in the trailer why do you ask 😭😭😭💙💙💙

Fialkov wanted Krel to focus on his duties as a prince and push away his "fine hobby". A hobby that has managed to save his life and his wife's, the Earth, the universe and so on, and that without including that little detail about breaking the laws of physics and invent a wormhole generator (me? Salty about my tech son not getting the recognition he deserves from his dad? Pff, whaaat, no way... 😠😠😠). At the end Krel stayed away from the crown after finding real friends and managed once again to help everyone with his intellect in Wizards (me? Proud of every SEKTON of my tech son on the screen to the point you bet I'm gonna scream the moment I see him in July? Pff, whaaat, no way... 😍😍😍😍😍😍).

In this scene of Terra Incognita Fialkov states that one day Krel might best him into duel. I know he probably wanted to pull his leg a little considering what he adds later, but I would be impressed if this was a foreshadowing of some sort. That would be an interesting fight, especially since Krel is notorious for being not that much of a warrior (our knockout baby 😅😅) But he is insanely smart, I would love to see him find a brilliant way to victory using his mind instead of his weapon, having with that some closure and realizing that despite everything, staying truth to himself has always been the right choice 👍👍

This is just an idea of what might be Krel's arc in the movie, given that we don't know how long it will be and what exactly these titans will bring 🤷‍♀️ I had this theory since 3Below ended, I just wanted to put it out for the time being 😊

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go think about the fact that it's only May and the movie is still very far, excuse me 😢😢

The Diana we’re desperate to meet. The return of The Crown will feature assassinations, avalanches and the tension between the Queen and Mrs T. But the most anticipated entrance has to be Diana’s. Today Weekend tells how they’ve captured her charisma

[...] The upcoming fourth season will take Diana from her early days as a shy kindergarten teaching assistant to a fairytale princess and an iconic global figure, as well as explore the early days of her disastrous marriage to Prince Charles.Her entrance comes when it returns to our screens in November or December, almost exactly 40 years after Nigel Dempster revealed in the Daily Mail in 1980 that Charles had found his ‘future bride’, having transferred his attention to Diana Spencer from her older sister Sarah.

Like Diana at the time, the actress playing her in The Crown is also a young unknown. Emma Corrin, 24, is a privately educated Cambridge graduate, who didn’t go to drama school.

By coincidence she’s originally from Sevenoaks in Kent, where Diana went to West Heath School from the age of 12 to 16.

Aware of how challenging the role would be for any actress, the producers started their search with a desperate call for ‘a mesmerising new young star with extraordinary range.’

The brief added, ominously: ‘She has to play charming comedy, flirt and social exhibitionist on the world stage, desperate and lonely self-harmer at her lowest ebb and the kind of psychological intensity of Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby.’

It would obviously be helpful too if she resembled Diana, and in some of the new scenes, as the kindergarten teaching assistant, and wearing a pink polka-dot dress on her 1983 tour of Australia, the likeness is uncanny.

Emma’s co-star Josh O’Connor, who plays Prince Charles, agrees, saying it was ‘spooky’ how much of a ‘breathtaking spitting image’ of Diana she was.

But Emma says she has never been told she looks like Princess Diana before – although strangely her mother, who works as a speech therapist, has been! ‘I have never had that,’ she adds. ‘I get told I look like a young Jodie Foster.’

Emma spent more than two hours a day in the make-up chair to achieve the Diana look, accentuating her doe eyes, and with several wigs re-creating the journey from ingénue to one of the most stylish women in the world.

Amazingly, she was still working hard for her final exams at Cambridge when she went through the auditions for The Crown.

‘They actually offered me the part in person,’ she says of her last audition. ‘It felt like I’d just been proposed to; it was the best moment of my life. There’s a lot of pressure, but I’ve been glued to the show since the first episode and to think I’m now joining this incredibly talented acting family is just surreal.’

Peter Morgan, the creator, writer and producer of The Crown, has complete confidence in her. ‘Emma is a brilliant talent who immediately captivated us when she came in for the part.

'As well as having the innocence and beauty of a young Diana, she also has, in abundance, the range and complexity to portray an extraordinary woman who went from an anonymous teenager to the most iconic woman of her generation.’

Like all the cast in this heavily researched production, she was given a large bundle of written material and documentaries to watch, and she spent hours on perfecting the princess’s distinctive high voice with a vocal coach and learning how to re-create her particular habit of glancing up from under her fringe, as well as her graceful way of moving.

It’s not an impression, I’m going for essence - Emma Corrin, who plays Diana ‘Something they have been making clear from the  start is that this is not an impression,’ says Emma.

‘I am going for essence. Any movement and voice work we have done has been figuring out why she talks the way she does, and how she was a massive departure from the Royal Family, a bit like Meghan is now I guess, by bringing something different in the way she talks.’

Season four brings back memories of naive young Diana, with a re-creation of that first photo, at the Pimlico nursery school where she worked, which showed her holding two of her charges while the sun shone through her skirt, revealing her shapely legs.

And it follows how she becomes hardened into a mature but troubled woman who is the toast of America.

The retelling of the royal romance starts with a traumatic event: the assassination of Charles’s beloved great uncle Lord Mountbatten (Charles Dance) who was killed, along with a grandson, a local boy and his son-in-law’s mother, by an IRA bomb hidden on his boat in Ireland in 1979.

Diana recalled how she’d watched Charles at the funeral on TV and when she saw him ten months later – the families were friends – she told him: ‘You must be so lonely? You know, it’s ghastly. You need someone beside you.’ He quickly decided he was in love.

Diana was turning 19 when she got together with Charles. He was 31. After 13 dates they were engaged. The rehearsal of their 1981 wedding at St Paul’s has been filmed in Winchester Cathedral with Emma wearing a replica of the blue floral dress Diana sported before the big day.

A later scene shows the joyful day when Diana, pregnant with Harry – with Emma sporting a fake baby bump – enjoyed an Easter Egg hunt at Buckingham Palace, chasing toddler William in the gardens.

The new episodes also focus on key moments – and key looks – from 1989, three years after Charles is thought to have resumed his affair with Camilla.  

In one scene Emma is seen outside The Savoy hotel in London, re-creating Diana’s appearance at the Barnardo’s Champion Awards.

Emma wears a floral one-shoulder dress, reflecting one of Diana’s favourite silhouettes – a style which suited her immensely but which the Establishment is said to have hated, deeming it ‘not royal’.

Having played Charles so sensitively in season three, Josh O’Connor, 30, says the heir to the throne will be portrayed in a harsher light this time. ‘Well, it’s the Diana years,’ he says.

‘If series three was to make people feel empathy for him, I guess we’re going to pull the rug from under him. We all have a set position on the dynamic between Diana and Charles. It’s been great to have the ability to either fight against that or, at times, acknowledge it and to challenge any question of, “Did he ever love her?” Personally, I think he must have done.

'There’s a wealth of layers to Charles and Diana, and I have loved seeking that out.

'I think Diana wasn’t completely innocent – I’m talking fictionally, in our story – so there are ups and downs. There’s the difficulty with Camilla and the whole family, so it’s going to be, hopefully, an interesting arc.’

Josh says they all enjoyed delving into an era which is so crucial to the modern Royal Family. ‘Everything changed when Diana came onto the scene,’ he says.

‘I think she changed the game, and modernised them, and made them relevant again.’

Also returning are Emerald Fennell as Camilla and Erin Doherty as feisty Princess Anne.

The real Anne revealed recently that she’d watched early episodes of the show, which she found ‘quite interesting’.

Peter Morgan says, ‘So many people asked me, after she first appeared, to put more of her in there.

Anne’s often overlooked. But Erin’s portrayal means that everybody has fallen in love with her. I read that searches about her on Google went through the roof, she’s now one of the most popular royals.’

Prince Andrew’s romantic life is set to come under the spotlight too. His most famous affair was with actress Koo Stark, who is said to have threatened to sue producers if the portrayal of her is negative, while the period covered in this series also sees him marry Sarah Ferguson.

Meanwhile, Edward is seen growing up and going to university.

There was a rush to finish filming before lockdown was announced.

It meant one key scene of an avalanche had to be moved from the Pyrenees to Ben Nevis.

The incident is likely to be a re-creation of the fatal moments in 1988 when a skiing party including Charles was caught in an avalanche in Klosters.

Major Hugh Lindsay, a former equerry to the Queen, was killed and Charles was seen weeping as he was helicoptered off the slopes.

The bizarre affair when Michael Fagan broke into the Queen’s bedroom in Buckingham Palace in 1982 will also feature in this run, but the 1987 It’s A Royal Knockout embarrassment, when the lesser royals dressed in medieval garb to play games for charity, is mercifully absent.

Once this series is over, an older cast are preparing to take the lead roles, with Imelda Staunton as the Queen and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret.

They are due to start filming next year, and die-hard fans will be cheered by Peter Morgan’s recent change of heart, when he announced in July that there will be a sixth series to come.

The Crown will return to Netflix later this year.

Ring of Honor (2007) Violet was trained by Seth Rollins then known as Tyler Black, who she would later date) and Jimmy Jacobs, wrestling for various independent companies. Debuting under a “trial contract” for ROH under the ring name Rina, she acted as a valet for The Age Of The Fall as a heel. Ring of Honor decided not to give her a full time contract and the Rina character was quietly removed. Violet and Seth later broke up.

TNA/Impact Wrestling (2010-2014) Violet later debuted for the then called TNA, attacking Madison Rayne and establishing herself as a face with an alternative aesthetic, later adopting the ring name Rivera. She failed to win the TNA Women’s Knockout Championship twice and lost most of her matches. Her years with them were “mixed” and she eventually quit the company in 2014, later revealing Impact attempted to get her to change her gimmick and ally with The Bromans and DJZ against The Menagerie and that was the final straw for her. 

NXT (2014-2018) Violet was contacted by WWE for a tryout and signed with WWE four months after her departure from Impact and made her NXT debut under her real name and as a “anti-diva” character and was heavily criticized for being too much like Paige. She would win the vacant NXT title against Bayley but later vacated it after tearing her ACL ending her reign at 93 days.

She returned to action at a house show teaming with Eva Marie for the win. They would call themselves Red and Black but the team officially split when Eva was called back up to Raw. Eva later revealed another injury sustained by Violet kept them from debuting as a tag team on NXT TV. 

After a hiatus due to back problems from said injury, Violet returned at NXT Takeover Dallas, debuting a newer more gothic look and sarcastically congratulated newly crowned champion Asuka before attacking her.

(Despite not losing the title, she never received a championship rematch until 2019.)

Violet later became the manager to Ember Moon during her feud with Asuka and formed the VampireEclipse with her, marking the first time her new character was stated to be a vampire Violet later competed against Ember for a spot in the fatal four way for the once again vacant title at Wargames but lost, later hugging her and wishing Ember good luck. Violet’s final feud in NXT was against Lacey Evans leading to a match at Takeover New Orleans, which Violet won in what was her final match in NXT at the time.

Raw (2018-2019)

Violet made her main roster debut as part of the superstar shakeup, joining Ember for a tag team against Alexa Bliss and Mickie James.

She participated in both a qualifing match and a gaunlet match for a spot in the women’s MITB ladder match, losing in both occasions. After a brief hiatus, she made a return to TV after Baron Corbin revealed her real life relationship with Finn Balor, causing Violet to attack Corbin with a chair She entered into a feud with Alexa Bliss going into Summerslam, where Alexa mocked her family disowning her. Violet beat her at the PPV, winning her first main roster title

Violet later declined Ronda Rousey’s handshake on the Raw after Summerslam, calling Rousey “a wannabe Roddy Piper with zero respect” and demanding a title match against her, which Kurt Angle granted.

On the Raw before HIAC, Violet defended her title against Alexa Bliss, winning with her own arm bar submission. Balor, her manager during the match, legitimately proposed to her afterwards backstage.

Violet lost at HIAC when Ronda submitted Alexa, ending this reign at less than three weeks. It was later reported she had gotten a concussion and couldn’t remember the moments leading up to the injury.

Violet made her return in January, nearly seven months after her injury to announce her entry into the Royal Rumble. Her and Finn got married the week before the Raw before the PPV.

Violet entered the rumble at 1 and eliminated the IIconics and was eliminated by Charlotte. Violet was Finn’s manager at Wrestlemania due to injury concerns.

Smackdown Live/Raw (2019) Violet managed Finn throughout his matches on Smackdown, usually using heel tactics to help him win. She later insulted Becky Lynch by bringing up her boyfriend Seth Rollins’ leaks, though this was dropped immediately.

She reformed the Vampire-Eclipse with Ember in late August, accompaning Ember to her matches. She was ejected from Ember’s match at Summerslam following a superkick to Bayley on the outside. She was taken off TV afterwards due to Finn’s requested off time. 

Return to NXT, face turn, and heel turn (2019-2020) Violet returned to NXT, attacking Shayna Baszler and turning face. She would join up with Candice Lerae and Mia Yim, becoming close with Candice. She beat Taynara in a dark match at Wargames.

Violet later turned heel, attacking Toni Storm, Rhea Ripley, and Candice, revealing she had only befriended her as a favor to her husband. She debuted a darker gimmick and new music, defeating Isla Dawn.

Formation of The Bad Girls and Hiatus (2020) Voilet quickly allied with Io Shirai over their shared distain of Candice, beating her in a tornado tag team match.

After Shotzi Blackheart turned heel and attacked Rhea, she immediately joined Violet and Io. After which Violet called the trio “The Bad Girls” later inviting Dakota Kai to join them which she accepted.

Violet entered the Royal Rumble but was eliminated by Bianca Belair

Violet dubbed herself “The Queen of NXT” and attempted to win the NXT women’s championship twice, being disqualified both times. Her and Finn competed in and won the NXT MMC Challenge. Both lost attempts for their respective title matches.

Violet was in two feuds, one with Kay Lee Ray and the Bad Girls with Austin Flynn, Taynara, Vanessa Borne, and Aliyah, beating them. She was scheduled to face Kay Lee Ray for the NXT UK women’s championship before the match was canceled. She later turned on Io and Dakota, solely allying with Shozti.

Violet announced she was pregnant in April, going on another hiatus. She gave birth to a daughter, Raven, in November.

Return to Smackdown and NXT/Face Turn (2020) Violet made a surprise return as a face during Seth Rollins vs Angel Garza, accidentally costing Seth the match and becoming a target for Alexa Bliss and The Fiend. She later demanded a intergender match against Seth, where if she won The Fiend would release Seth from his influence. She would lose by disqualification when she used her new finisher, a step-over ddt called Bite Me, on Seth onto a pile of chairs, in what was her final match on Smackdown.

She officially returned to NXT at Wargames, being the surprise final member of Team Shotzi, helping her team win. Her face turned was solidified when she tended to former stablemate Io Shirai following her title loss to Austin Flynn.

Violet later cut a promo saying she won all of her most important matches on her first try, while women like Candice and Dakota fail after getting chance after chance and she was sick of waiting in the back of the line.

She got a chance to become the number one contender by facing Tessa Blanchard, however Scarlett interferred on behalf of her boyfriend Karrion Kross and costed Violet the match. Karrion later said he was willing to end Violet’s career if it meant getting her husband’s attention.
