Listen ppl, asking polite questions in good faith is never evil or bad. Like. There's a whole lot of "don't make [insert minority group] do the work/research/etc for you" and yes, absolutely don't demand unpaid labour from them but I think a lot of the time it stops ppl from even just asking basic polite questions? Like I'm researching how to make websites and seminars and so on more accessible to disabled ppl and I have an organisation literally in my town that works on both LGBTQ+ and disability advocacy and I am still hesitating to ask them literally just if they can point me to some resources bc apparently the internet has fucked me up.

Like. There's only so much I know from my own experiences and community. There's only so much I can research without missing some disability - bc I can't exactly google "how to make websites accessible to x" when I forget X exists. And a polite question that they can 100% say no to? Is not? Somehow wrong to ask? And yet I need to do all this reasoning to allow myself to ask in fear of, what, burdening them with work they don't want to do? When this isn't even a random disabled person but an organisation working specifically to make lifes better for disabled ppl? And they can absolutely say no to the work?

It's ridiculous. Ask questions. Take no for an answer. That's really all there should be to it.

Alastor’s motivation

The only suggestion of what Alastor’s true motivations might be that I’ve ever seen brought up is that he wants to become the king,,, and you can probably already tell that I’m about to disagree with this.

Imo the problem with this conclusion is that it’s too far-fetched. It’s only based on the idea that he wants power and the king has the most power so he must be aiming for that. The problem with that is that currently it’s completely out of his reach. It’s the typical ‘character is so smart I’m sure he’s got it planned 2000 steps in advance’ despite the fact that he’s in no position to think this is something that’s achievable for him.

This idea is only not overcomplicated in terms of Alastor’s plan if he’s aiming for marrying Charlie, then it’s pretty straightforward but also something that is purely wishful thinking on the part of the shippers and something I’m 100% certain will never happen but I won’t get into it here.

In the pilot there’s a lot of talk from Alastor about being bored and needing entertainment. My initial impression was that it was all just a bunch of (really weak) excuses. Because whatever sinister plan he has, he obviously can’t reveal it to Charlie, so he needs to lie to her about why he wants to get involved and saying something like ‘I’m in a mood/I don’t need any reason I’m just chaotic like that’ is one of the easiest things he could have done.

But then I found “Alastor’s Game” by The Living Tombstone. Alastor sings a song that’s a description of your typical deal with the devil, the only part that stands out is the ‘entertainment’ element to Alastor’s deals. I don’t think this is standard, the devil is usually portrayed to be very menacing and taking the deal seriously.

It was such a gas, I really am amused

You were lovely entertainment

In this song there’s also a lot of talk about help that Alastor provides, more so than is typically provided by the devil, who usually just tries to trick someone and gives nothing in return, but here Alastor even offers to provide any help needed during tough times.

A casual whisper just to guide you

It’s also way more personal and pleasant, with Alastor waiting for you, and he’s your sweet radio demon, even tho the devil usually doesn’t care about becoming friends with their victims or even about keeping up appearances.

So what this conveys to me is that Alastor was honest about everything he said in the pilot, it is indeed about entertainment for him, cos what he finds entertaining is indeed human drama “reality, true passion”, playing games and making deals with ppl. I guess the only thing is he lied by omission.

Omitting the fact that he intends on making deals with the patrons of the happy hotel. That’s why he’s there, because it’s the perfect place for him. Only the most desperate in the whole of hell would go to such a place like Charlie’s hotel, so it’s the perfect hunting ground for him. He won’t need to wait or search ppl out, the ones most susceptible to him will be themselves coming to him, all he needed was to be given access to those patrons. And bringing in Husk and Niffty is a genius move on his part, where the patrons will be directly exposed to two ppl who owe Alastor, but because it’s likely Alastor brought in the specific two ppl that he’s on good terms with and because they are shown to be treated fairly and generously by him, that would make it more convincing to the patrons to also make deals with Alastor. And the making of more deals will result in him rapidly gaining power but via a plan that’s doable by him.

And him saying he wants to help Charlie while also believing her plan will never work doesn’t seem like such a contradictory behavior anymore. He doesn’t think it’s possible to redeem a demon but the fact that Charlie believes it doesn’t get in the way of his plans. It would actually help for the already desperate ppl who got their hopes up for something Alastor takes for granted will only lead to their failure to look for other alternative solutions to their problems and make them more susceptible to Alastor’s manipulation.

I want to watch the scum of the world struggle to climb up the hill of betterment, only to repeatedly trip and tumble down to the fiery pit of failure.

Also this is essentially exactly what he’s doing to Charlie, the whole helping her, being charming to her, just without the handshake but everything that followed fits with Alastor’s usual routine. Maybe the princess owing you a favor would be a nice cherry on top of a cake but in that moment most importantly he needed her to agree to giving him access to the hotel (note how Charlie herself was somewhat desperate and hopeless in that moment, Alastor saw it and sought her out, but she was clearly not desperate enough to make a sketchy deal, yet).

It also makes sense with my personal assumptions. Thinking that Alastor has complicated plans and that the hotel is just a small part of it would make me think that that would relatively soon call for the falling apart of the found family. Because Alastor doesn’t care about the cohesiveness of the family, he only needs it around for as long as it furthers his goals, which wouldn’t last long if his end goal is to try to go from hotel employee to king. However that wouldn’t be what I’d expect from a story that is named after the hotel (home of the found family). But if his end goal is the hotel itself, then that aligns better with how I’d expect the story to go. That even tho Alastor isn’t really sentimental toward the family now, that he’d still from the very beginning care about keeping the family together for as long as possible and protect it, to keep everyone on good terms for as long as possible and to keep his secrets from Charlie for as long as possible, because he can only continue benefitting from this arrangement as long as it lasts.

That also fits perfectly with how I’d expect the conflict between Alastor and Charlie to go. Because of the set-up in the pilot with Alastor as part of the family I’d expect that he’s gonna be given a redemption arc. A lot of ppl are worried that he’d directly hurt Charlie but this doesn’t sit right with me, I think he’s gonna directly hurt the patrons, which won’t be directly abusive toward Charlie herself but it’d still hurt her and violate her trust.

So Alastor’s there to make deals. This isn’t a crazy revelation and really it’s something that maybe should have been obvious either way, but I’m glad I managed to make an argument for why this might be the case instead of ‘duh, obviously he’s there to make deals’.

Submission about possible gaslighting

Hey i need some advice, I often over think and analyze stuff and ppl have told me that i have, but i cant tell if im gas lighting someone or not. My sister has terrible mental health and my mother whos a very conservative asain mom just doesn’t understand her problems. So ofc my sister and mom have a terrible relationship. They both hate each other but wont admit to it bc for us family is “everything” and especially bc my parents worry about how others may view our family as a disaster. But bc my sisters has depression and anxiety she also tends to over think like me. And she will sit me down and tell me why she thinks our mom hates her. Even the smallest things like not saying goodnight back, i feel like i would respond better if it was a once or twice a month thing but it’s almost like 2/3 times a week, so it becomes exhausting. I love both my sister and my mom, even though my mother is emotionally abusive and doesn’t support my sexuality. I usually agree with my sister on things that are obviously not right like my mother saying that her depression is fake, but with things like our mom not saying goodnight or looking at her funny makes it difficult and irritating. Its not as if i LOVE my mother but i want some sort of peace or nuteral area in the house. So i have often times told her “maybe your overthinking it” but once we ended up fighting over it and i said it was probably her anxiety that she was over thinking it and that our mother doesnt hate her EVERY move, i told her I understand that our mother doesn’t favor or is nice to her but i told her she was over thinking things bc of her anxiety. And recently I found the term gaslighting when i thought it though, I realize my mother did almost all of the things to do when “gaslighting” but i went back to all the times i told my sister that her feelings were invalid just like what a person who gaslights does. Although i said it far nicer and not as harsh and “your feeling dont matter” type of way i feel extremely guilty. I once even asked (in the heat of a fight) what evidence she has on our mother hating her on the small gestures that comes off negative to her. I ofc regret it and i know that in fights i can become too heated. Would this be considered gaslighting and if it is how can i stop and better myself and react differently. I want to improve and change but also these weekly conversations are exhausting I’ve told her that they are and she recognizes that, but continues to do it. So i feel incredibly stuck.

I’m sorry to hear that this has been going on. I can imagine that it’s quite hard to figure this all out and to be worrying about it. I can imagine that you feel stuck! 

It sounds like there’s a lot going on between your sister and your mum. It’s hard to be caught up in all that! So I understand that these conversations with your sister are taking a toll on you and that you can’t always be patient and understanding about it all. That sounds like a normal sibling-relationship. I love my brother but sometimes we just can’t stand each other and we fight. That happens! 

I think there’s a key difference to what’s been going on between you and your sister, and gaslighting. That’s my personal opinion though so I also understand if that isn’t universally agreed upon. But in my opinion, the key difference is the intention. Gaslighting is done with the intention of harming someone emotionally, it’s done with malicious intent. And while you might feel irritated by these conversations, you don’t have malicious intent towards your sister.

That being said, I do think it’s good to consider your phrasing. Anxiety can cause overthinking and that overthinking isn’t always rational. But being told ‘that it’s just overthinking’, doesn’t help. Instead, maybe you can try to provide more rational thoughts instead while acknowledging that she’s overthinking about it now. It isn’t always easy to then believe the rational thoughts, but that’s a whole next step.

I also think it would be good to talk this out with your sister! Explain to her that you feel guilty about saying these things, but that those conversations are hard to have so often and that it makes you feel irritated, which leads to reacting that way. By talking it out, maybe you can find a middle ground. It needs to be doable for both of you. 

Is your sister receiving any help for her depression and anxiety? If not yet, maybe that’s something the two of you can look into together? That way she won’t also need those conversations with you as much, because she’d have a professional she could talk to. I don’t know if it’s possible considering what you told me about your mum, but if it’s something that you can look into that’d be great.

hi looking for advice!- I’m a young adult with adhd-pi and I feel like I will never be able to get a job (I’ve had a couple jobs before, I REALLY hated them!!), but I know that I BEED a job!! But I feel like I cannot work, it makes me very upset and when I was working I felt like I lost large chunks of time to sadness and memory loss (idk if that’s normal?) it was very bad and I have very very bad social anxiety, but I know I need to work to live- i feel guilt+hopeless, what should I do?!

This is difficult. Mostly because finding a job is soo much executive function and is anxiety inducing. After gradschool I spent an entire year trying to get a job and now that I have one in my field i am still underemployed. This isn't to make you feel hopeless but just a reminder that it is a very real struggle for everyone and is even more difficult for people with disabilities.

If you were sitting with me one on one , the first thing I would do is ask about your other jobs.

Were they retail ? Did you work in a resturant ?

What did you like about them ? What did you hate about them ? What were things that kept you interested ?

For me: I need a job where I am helping people and interacting with people.( which is surprising as I have awful social anxiety).

But in a work setting, people engage my brain as does solving problems.

From this, I know that working at a admin heavy desk job would not work for me. I also know that working at a restaurant would not work for me either.

The next thing i would tell you do is to look at what is around your area. If you know that you enjoy working with your hands is there a trade school around that you can apply to ? What about apprenticeship program ? Community college ? Social service/employement agency. Anything that would help bring you structure and accountability.

And if you live in one of those areas that has like a walmart and a gas station try and look deeper. Look at the local schools/doctors office/township. Be creative. Maybe do uber or uber eats for a bit if that is something you are able to do. If you have skills advertise as a local handyman. Or contact your local handyman and see if you can work with them.

Look at your connections: did someone you went to high school have a parent that owns a business ? Did you see someone doing a job you think you could do ? Try and reach out to them and see if they could give you tips on how to applym. See if there is a local mental health organization around that is hiring.

If you are able to: see if you can volunteer somewhere. Do you enjoy working with animals ? Go take dogs for walks. Find activities outside of work that you find meaningful so that ifbyou get a job that is mindless you can have something else to engage your brain in.

Everyone needs help and would be happy to have support. It can also help to structure some of your day. ( it can also ve a seperate place to do application work and to make connections).

It can be overwhelming in modern times because there are so many options and people will say " just make up your own job!" Like that is an easy thing to do. Try to narrow it down and focus on only a few areas of interest..

And sometimes. You gotta take the job and it's gonna suck. But use that as motivation to move on from it. I also want to day that our society focuses way too much on employement, I am sure you have other qualities that are also important and valuable and good.

Edited because i can't read the entire ask while writing my response: also when looking for the jobs see which feel more "safe" to you. Maybe you can't handle working full time but part time is more managable. Maybe right now you need to work online or at home only. ( lots of ppl need transcribers) maybe working with children or adults is doable or the night shuft instead of the dayshift. It is going to be scary ( you can do it) but finding a job that feels managable i think would be really helpful for your mental health.

also please if you have the resources go talk to a professional. Or look up cbt/dbt worksheets and such.

If your anxiety is that bad where you legitimately cannot work perhaps look into disability services. (Tbh i am not sure what that entails) but if you are not able to afford food because you have too much anxiety that is something to consider.

Madness or Multiplicity? – Running multiple, interlocking campaigns

Hullo, Gentle Readers. This week’s Question from a Denizen comes from Pedro Guimaraes on Facebook, who asks, “What are your thoughts of DMing 3 groups in the same world and timeline and time to time when they're stories meet or just because they happen to be at the same city join them? Ive been doing it even though it takes a heavy toll on my time  and some ppl told me i should just do separate stories.”

Whew. Nostalgia rush! You really took me back there, Pedro.  Let me explain.

Just out of high school, I suddenly found myself with more players than I knew what to do with. My high school friends had gone to various colleges, and they’d made new gaming buddies and told them about the games I used to run. So when I announced a new campaign, I suddenly had over a dozen people wanting to play, and I didn’t really want to say no to anybody.

Out of this situation came my idea to run two campaigns that were linked together through a common villain, various NPCs, and my campaign world. So right at the beginning, the PCs got to meet the big villain, who threatened to destroy them all, but who ultimately backed off for now. This led to them breaking into two groups and splitting up to explore two different avenues of potentially defeating him. Several years of game play later, we played one huge game of over 15 players fighting (and defeating) the big villain.

Over those years, however, they’d made friends with even more gamers and told stories about the huge crazy game I was running. In addition, the group had several ideas about where things should go from here. Some were intrigued by the Ravenloft setting, others wanted to further explore my campaign world, and still others wanted to try Spelljammer. So, you guessed it, I suddenly found myself running 3 games regularly. Eventually I burned out on this and brought it to an end that wasn’t an ending. It just kind of burnt out. By then, I was kind of done with D&D and wanted to try this new World of Darkness game I was reading, but that’s a whole other story.

So it’s totally doable, but I agree…it eats a lot of your time. If you have the time for it, and you enjoy it, then it can be super fun and rewarding. If you don’t, then I think you should consider dropping down to one or two games. But as far as linking them? I think that’s great. It makes it like the D&D equivalent of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Heroes can team up and fight alongside each other to take down big menaces or to overcome dungeons that they couldn’t handle in smaller batches.

If you’re going to do this, then two things are going to be key: a calendar and copious note-taking.

A calendar is going to be crucial, because it’s the only way to measure who is where at any given time. This way, you’ll know if Sir Boister is in the city of Khemal when the Sword Saints ae looking for help, and you can arrange the “crossover” session where they meet. You need to be careful, however; what happens if Sir Boister dies while adventuring with the Sword Saints, but Sir Boister’s own adventures have him two levels later? This is going to lead to a bit of paradox. I would, instead, push for deliberate crossovers that you control.

You should note major events on your calendar, too. If you refer to an earthquake in the City of Castros on the 5th of May, and then the Circle of Silver adventuring group gets into this same area at the same time, you should mention the earthquake. This will help create the feeling of verisimilitude that everyone loves so much and is referring to when they say that your world feels “alive” or “real”.

Note-taking will also be super important. If Sir Boister already killed the head of the Crimson Manticore crime syndicate, then you should have someone else in charge when the Sword Saints visit a month later. Your world isn’t static, and it doesn’t reset itself like a video game (unless that’s how your world works). If the Circle of Silver have already discovered and looted the Dungeon of the Doomnlade, then the Sword Saints aren’t going to be get the Doomblade for themselves when they find it two months later – but some new monsters may have moved in with their own treasure.

In a situation like this, I’ve noticed that players love to hear rumors of the other party. If they find out that the other group had to flee the city in shame, this is excellent fodder for the next time they meet. Or if they find out that the others are seeking the Dungeon of Danger, they might try to find it first. This can lead to friendly, or not-so-friendly rivalries, however. Do not shun the wisdom of the tales of the Head of Vecna, which I will not recount here.

So there you go. It’s definitely a doable model *if* you have the time and you’re willing to take copious notes and keep a strict calendar. Let us know how it goes for you!

hey im rly sorry to bother u again but ive been rly weirdly nervous abt like? having time to be alone in college and being able to hang out in my room without talking to ppl like ik thats kinda weird but i keep thinking that college is just gonna be me having to talk to ppl all the time and partying (and im...rly not into partying) and i like,rly love my time alone just hanging out ((im rly sry i keep asking you questions you give rly rly good advice and i dont rly know who else to ask))

you will definitely have time to be alone in college. like, you’re going to be busier than you’ve probably ever been, but you’re still going to have time to wrap yourself under blankets and just. ignore the world. i feel you so hard on the whole ‘loving time alone just hanging out’ things, that was p much all i did this summer. you can find that in college too. it’s harder, but you can. 

i’m gonna put the rest of this under a readmore bc it ended up being longer than i expected haha 

the hard part for me was actually internalizing that it’s okay to take a nap or do nothing every once in a while. just because everybody always seems to be doing something all the time holy shit doesn’t this person sleep doesn’t mean you have to do that too (i guarantee, they’re probably taking naps and thinking the same thing about you). 

yes, you’re going to be spending MORE time around people than you probably do at home (esp if you have a roommate. having roommates is hard, just constantly having to be in the presence of another person is hard) but it’s doable. and you’re not talking to each other 1000% of the time you will learn the art of the comfortable silence. you will also mostly get used to it (i say mostly, because at the end of the day you’re still gonna miss showering without shoes and having your own bathroom that you can lock, no matter how great you’re feeling)

orientation will probably be hard, but if you’ve had it already then ur probs okay on that end (idk what school you’re going to, but orientation for bucknell was 5 straight days from 7am to 10pm/midnight. it was kind of hell).

the thing about college is that what happens is mostly up to you. if you want to seal yourself away, you can go to ur room and take a nap. or find a classroom or study room to go hang out/do work in by yourself. i know a lot of people who will just go to the music building and get a practice room to do music to calm themselves down or when they need to be alone for awhile. you can go to the silent areas of your library. you can sit alone in a cafe booth with your earbuds in. you’ll figure out your roommate’s schedule and you’ll know exactly when you can be in the room while they’re out. it takes time to figure all these things out, but it happens.

but i wanna really really warn u: don’t spend so much time alone in the beginning!! it’s so much better to push yourself in the first few weeks and establish some friends when nobody has friends, as opposed to hiding away immediately and then realizing halfway through the semester that you don’t have anybody to talk to. pushing myself that much in the beginning of the year was probably the hardest thing i’ve ever had to do, but it pays off so much more in the end. 

it can be emotionally draining, but hopefully you’ll find yourself surrounded by people who you love enough that it’s okay that you’re with them so often (aka, me with the people in my house, and why i haven’t written anything in so long and been kinda m.i.a. lol). i know everybody says this, but really really push yourself to sign up for things and commit to them!! go to events!! attend club meetings even if you dont have any friends to go with you (you will find friends there!! i was so afraid of all the upperclassman when i was a freshman to the point where i couldn’t talk to any of them, but now that i’m an upperclassman, we really just want to make you feel as welcome and loved and at home as we possibly can). try new things (ik u said ur not a party person, but i would suggest going to one or two if you can, just to try them out! they’re definitely not for everyone, but if you go with the right people they can be really fun. i wasn’t a party person in high school either, but i enjoy going out in college). even if you don’t like going out, you can grab food with people or go to concerts on campus or play games in your room. remember (not sure if this makes sense, but it was something that took me awhile to learn): you have just as much ability to ask people to hang with you as they do to ask you to hang with them. you are to them what they are to you. (does that make any sense?? i hope it does c:)

A week.

That's how long it's been since I last saw Saeran. Seven still comes to pick me up every morning, but since Saeran’s classes start about an hour later, he's apparently decided to start driving himself. I haven't even seen him in psychology, but he  must  be in the mass of students somewhere. I mean, he wouldn't skip class just avoid me, right?

I'm getting a little antsy about our project. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to at least have his list of ideas, because they are  far better than anything I came up with. Whereas I had only managed to drum up stereotypical experiments like asking someone what color a word is when it's printed in yellow ink but says “green,” he'd managed some pretty unique ones. I've given up on trying to reach him to pick a subject together since he's made it pretty clear just how pissed he is at me for looking at his sketchbook by ignoring me completely. So here I am on a Sunday afternoon, staring at the crumpled paper in front of me, trying to make a decision before I let myself play some LOLOL.

There’s the concept of mood freezing written down here, and I squint at the short descriptor he wrote down on it. His handwriting isn’t necessarily illegible, but it’s certainly not what one would describe as “neat” either. Small, like how he always tries to make himself and slanted to the left, it’s fairly inconsistent with itself and yet I somehow feel like it suits him. Maybe it’s because when I look at him I see a lot of things that contradict themselves; like how he stood up for me against Seven’s teasing and yet is still so cold. He’s a walking enigma, and I can’t decide if that fascinates or annoys me; all I know is that I need to get to know him better, for the sake of completing our assignment. I need to figure out a way to interact with him that doesn’t make him angry.

"Mood freezing. Placebo effect, make patients angry and then give them pill saying it will calm them down. Count how many are affected by it.” Hmm. Well, that sounds like an interesting concept, but I'm not sure where two non-psychology major college students would come up with something for that. It's not like we really have the means to manufacture sugar pills on our own and I'm not entirely certain where one would start looking for that, so... I think I'll pass on this one.

"Affect heuristic. Predicting risk based on how scary something is instead of more likely things. Ex: fear of rare disease, taking steps to prevent it instead of flu. Idk now to test for this." Yeah, that'd be a challenge to test. So again, pass.

"Vocational calling. The belief that you'll be happier if you feel called to your work - ask around at jobsites?" Hmm... possible, I suppose. But how many places would we have to go to get a good idea? I'm... not sold, but it's still more interesting than any of my ideas, so I'll keep it in mind.

"Idk what to call this one exactly. See if ppl likely to follow patterns on floor rather than heading straight to their destination- like the fancy carpet at that one department store." Department store? What department.... ohhh, he must mean the one in the mall. I haven't gone in there in a long time; not since Rika, actually. I do vaguely remember a carpet that I used to love to trace patterns on, walking along it happily while Rika would shop.

That sounds feasible, if it's literally just watching them. We could take turns then, I suppose, since he doesn't seem to want to have anything to do with me. It would just be a matter of planning when and making sure it's fine. That's doable, right?

I copy down the small description over to my own notebook, making a note to see if I can find a better name for it. I'm just not sure Saeran's title will cut it for a paper worth a large portion of our grade. Now it's just a matter of arranging when we'll go. We've got three more weeks to gather the data, arrange it into some less disastrous, hopefully at least sort of comprehensible chart (or table or something) and then write a paper on it. Together, which will be... impossible, at the rate things are going. I'll figure that last part out later.

I think if we both go twice, that should be enough data for the project. So maybe we should try to go both times over this next week and see where that leads us. If it's not enough we can probably each fit in at least another trip before we have to buckle down and start crunching numbers. Leaning back in my chair, I start chewing my lip and tapping my pencil on the paper absentmindedly as I try to think about how to approach the next parts of the paper. Perhaps I just have to corner him somehow, get him to talk to me so we can make a plan. I consider my options, mostly falling between finding him at class or going to Seven's. Last I knew, Seven was busy working so I could certainly get him alone, but then again, that could make it easier for him to run out on me, too. So... class, then. I cast a glance at the clock, frowning as I go over my class schedule for tomorrow. If I cut lunch a bit short, then I can get to class early and wait by the door to watch for him. Then I'll know where he's sitting and I can approach him at some point. Yes, that should work. It'll make sense, too, because it is our psychology class paper, after all. And it's not a long discussion, so that's a bonus.

Well, that's decided. Tossing my notebook over by my bag, I take a moment to stretch out before scooting my chair up to my computer. Unlocking it, I quickly bring up the LOLOL start page.

It's go time.

I manage to be the first one to arrive, the room blissfully empty when I arrive. Unwrapping the sandwich I had grabbed quickly from the school cafeteria, I debate where would be the best place to stake out his arrival. We don't technically have assigned seating but by now everyone has pretty much chosen a spot to sit that's 'theirs,' so me plopping down in one near the door is out of the question. Even though it probably wouldn't cause an issue since I would move the moment someone asked, I don't want to risk the chance that that's when he'll slip in. I could always sit across from the door in the hallway, but all that would do is confirm that he's here - and I'd still have no idea where he's sitting, which isn't helpful. I turn to face the back walls of the room, considering the possibility of watching from back there. Maybe I could-

"Mr. Kim? May I help you?"

I most certainly do not emit a sound akin to that of a pterodactyl at the voice suddenly coming from behind me, flipping around to come face-to-face with my professor. Her dark brown eyes are watching me in amusement (probably due to the noise I definitely didn't make), a soft smile on her face. I'm honestly surprised she knows my name; it's not like I'm particularly active in class, although I suppose I make an impression since the few times I do speak up I'm generally embarrassingly excited about whatever I have to say. Either way, I wasn't expecting to run into her quite so soon- or at all, really. I figured some of my other classmates would get here before that would happen.

"Uh, no, professor, I'm just... waiting for my partner. I-I don't know where he sits, so I thought I'd get here early and find out." Way to sound sort of stalkerish. Good job, me.

She raises an eyebrow at me, searching my face for a moment before turning around to head up to the desk at the front of the room. Setting down the books and laptop she's carrying, she lets out a sigh and starts digging through one of her folders. "I take it your partner has been avoiding you?" She doesn't sound surprised, which causes me to frown in confusion. Does Saeran have some sort of reputation I'm not aware of? Glancing back up at me as she pulls out some papers from the folder, she smiles sadly. "It's sadly not an uncommon occurrence. It's a risk we take upon assigning our students group projects. Inevitably, there will be at least a few who won't do their share. Who is your partner?"

Furrowing my eyebrows, I shift my backpack a little from where it's situated on my shoulders. "Um... S-Saeran. Choi. Saeran Choi, professor." She nods and looks back down at her forms, a finger skimming down the page until she stops.

"Mr. Choi sits there, when he attends class," she says, pointing at a table at the far back corner of the room. The last part of that sentence sounds slightly ominous, like maybe he really hasn't been coming recently. God, I hope that's not the case. I'll feel terrible if I upset him so much to cause him to skip class just because I'm here. "I'm planning on giving a little bit of time at the end of class to work on it, so I suggest you catch him then." I thank her, relieved to see that other students are finally starting to shuffle in through the door. I still haven't eaten my sandwich, so I start to make my way to my seat so that I can eat it quickly.

Class goes by faster than I expect, with me doodling in my notebook as well as making a list of things that I need to talk about with Saeran. It'll be easier if I am at least mostly organized, then I can bring things up quickly, get his opinion and move on. The less time we spend in awkward (or, in his case, angry) silence, the better. As she said earlier, the professor allots the last ten minutes of class to work on our project, though I see a fair amount of my classmates choosing to interpret that as an early dismissal. All of my things save the single notebook I'm holding are already put away so that I can bolt up to where he's supposed to be sitting without having to wait.

And it must be my lucky day, because as I make my way to his table, I spot the bright red hair that tells me he is indeed there. I speed up when his eyes move over to me, a flash of surprise flitting across his face before he makes a dive for his bag, quickly shoving his books in. Oh no, he's trying to get away. I won't let that happen. Apologizing as I shove a few people out of my way, I make it to his table and slam my hand down on the one book still sitting there. He jumps, eyes quickly back on the ground instead of on me.

"Quit... avoiding...me," I grind out, frustrated at just how fast he'd made the decision to leave without talking to me. This won't work. "I don't know what your problem with me is, Saeran, but we have to get this paper done. So please, whatever it is that I've done to make you hate me, tell me how to fix it. Or at least tell me how I can be someone you can stand to be around until we finish our project."

Is that regret I see? The emotion looks so out of place on his face that I'm taken aback, mistakenly lifting my hand off of the book. Scooping it up before I have a chance to realize what he's doing, he shoves it in his bag and zips it up. Throwing the bag on his back, he finally looks up at me, his gaze icy again. "I don't care about the stupid project. Just tell me what to do and I'll do it. But I don't need to be around you for that." He pushes past me, his shoulder knocking into mine as he moves.

My hand is on his arm in an instant, and I'm just as shocked as he looks when I realize it. Well, since I have his attention, I may as well move forward. "S-Saeran, please, tell me how to make this better," I plead, my voice dropping almost to a whisper. I'm not sure that he'll even be able to hear me with how loud the room is around us, the students all milling about as they discuss their assignment.

"You can't," he replies, just as quietly, shaking off my hand. "Now leave me alone, Yoosung. Go bother my brother if you need someone." And with that he's gone, disappearing into the group of students leaving the room.

I lean back against the table, running a hand through my hair. I am honestly so confused about this whole thing, and I'm out of ideas on how to approach him. Well, I guess if he's giving me total control of the project, then I'll just have to accept that and take the reins. When I get home tonight, I'll plot out something that seems fair and... text it to Seven, apparently. Ugh.

I'm about to stand up to leave when a girl falls against me, knocking my notebook out of my hand. "S-sorry," she sputters, her face turning bright red. "I tripped, uh. Sorry!"

"It's okay," I respond, smiling. She returns it before bouncing off with what I assume is her group of friends, and I watch her for a moment, wondering what I'll have to do to find someone like that for me. Shaking my head, I bend down to grab my notebook when I see a sheet of paper lying on the ground under the table. The handwriting is familiar, and I grab it up as well, hoping it's not something important for one of Saeran's next classes. As I'm about to slide it in a folder to drop off later, something in the bottom corner catches my eye.

...me, again.

I don't get it. If he hates me so much, why is he doodling pictures of me? Ack, my head hurts from how confusing this whole thing is. Tucking it safely away, I resolve to put the drawing out of my mind to address later. Much, much later.

Ok so I was involved in a car accident November 10,12, I was at fault because I hit the car in the back, the guy just literally stopped and obviously even if you are right about saying that the other driver stopped too fast for you to stop,when you hit a car in the back (most of the time) you are at fault of the accident.Either way, my insurance paid for his damage ($2,000 worth) and I took my ticket to court,there I only paid for court fees but no points. Ok, So I have insurance through UAIC. I was not aware till the research i've done they are the biggest losers in the business. Here's my issue, my car was vandalized on november 12 of this year. No a scratch, ding or dent showroom conidition I would say at the time. I filed the claim the same day of the 12th of November.
