Yapping about Kaiser (again)

No because I was thinking about Kaiser's narcissistic traits and how fucking SPOT ON they are its insane.

The hierarchy. The fact kaiser thinks in hierarchies. And its shown pretty explicitly via that one panel of noa and isagi on the stairs and Kaiser looking at them from below after his delusions got shattered.

That + him perceiving(!) Ness as a dog because he is inferior in his hierarchy scale.

And this is such a dismissed trait yet it's The most important when it comes to how narcissistic people navigate interpersonal relationships.

There's always someone inferior. There may be someone superior, too. Unless you're delusional enough. Then you're actually God.

And to think Ness is the main enabler* of those "delusions", esp when it comes to grandiosity, another narcissistic trait Kaiser displays.

*specifying i am not victim blaming Ness

Without Kaiser taking advantage of his fragility, without Ness grabbing onto the single spark that Kaiser had shown him (via... calling him a loser? Lmfao), the kaiser-centric system in bm would not exist.

So Kaiser went from being dismissed by the whole team due to his antisocial behavior/inability to navigate the "human" world to being praised non-stop and considered the fundamental player in their team.

Considering how Kaiser has never received love or recognition beforehand, he got lost in it and got greedy. Kaiser pre chara development is just your local feral stray cat who you adopted and now believes he is the king of the house. I seriously do not blame him for that ngl.

(Esp since he Is a good player. So his delusions werent actually that delusional yk.)

He does think he is The shit though, except at the time he was a v static player. He got too comfortable in the security of ness' passes, too dependent on it, which made his game more predictable and didn't let him evolve to reach his full potential.

I think, with time, his grandiosity may fade a bit, since to me it was strictly linked to Ness and the kaiser-centric system used by BM. That + it is a double edged sword, since it actually slows you down into becoming your better self. If you alreadythibk you're the greatest, there's not much room left for development.

And Kaiser is smart and is actually quite self conscious enough to not fall in past mistakes, not now that he has finally gotten the grasps of how to become a better player. He is a pro when it comes to survival, after all.

So yeah, grandiosity is def not Kaiser's main trait imo. The hierarchy, his callousness and his sadism (his malice) are probably more "pronounced" in his personality, although neither callousness nor sadism are inherently linked to narcissism.

Now, as I just said, sadism is common in people who display narcissistic behaviour but its not inherently narcissistic. It may be linked to antisociality, as well as trauma or repressed rage.

Kaiser, who's been unable to react to his father's abuse for YEARS, has, in fact, more than a decade worth of repressed rage. Except – once again – he does not rebel to whom he considers stronger/superior in his hierarchy.

In this case he sorta acts like your typical bully. Can't react towards an "authority" so he picks on weaker/inferior people. Kaiser feasts on them. But of course, there's no satisfaction into crushing npcs, yk. Hence all that disney villain type of monologue about how Isagi was finally big enough to devour (gay methinks, but thats not the point). Again. Big enough to get the sadistic satisfaction of crushing him but not too big, at least in Kaiser's mind.

(Except karma is a bitch and so is Isagi.)

Also. Can I say that I love how when Kaiser is not masking, he is the literal definition of the person standing emoji. Which is kinda funny but its actually so fucking real. Whoever has experienced dissociation, depersonalisation or derealization knows the drill. And dissociative disorders are sooo so common when it comes to trauma, esp when it comes to physical abuse. Kaiser's perception of his own body is probably so messed up. He got beat up till he bled like almost every day. Kaiser's body was for his father to use as a punching ball for YEARS. Since he was a CHILD.

So, of course, the second kaiser got actual autonomy on his body (for the first time ever!!!) he asked for a tattoo. Because now he gets to customise it as a way to make it his own.

It's his body now.

Also, his lack of empathy/callousness absolutely comes from trauma. Living in a violent environment, being forced to use your reptilian brain 24/7 does not do well to a child, and definitely doesn't help the correct development of certain parts of your brain when it comes to emotions. And Kaiser is still on survival mode.

Tbh. Kaiser's cptsd is severe and deeply intertwined in his personality and how he acts and lives. Even the hierarchy trait is strictly linked to his childhood: eat or get eaten. His father treated him like an extension of himself, a worthless object.

His ability to read people and to recognise Ness as easy prey probably comes from when he used to steal from people. You know, you need to learn quickly how to spot certain patterns and find the perfect victim to rob. He is used to analyse and read people. He just lacked the ability to manipulate since his experiences with people were limited.

I'm gonna be honest he would be a difficult patient to properly diagnose, considering his backstory. C-ptsd is the only thing I'm certain of.

((I think if his mental state ever becomes a nuisance in Kaiser's plan to become his best version, he would resort to therapy.))

Hello there! First of all, don't worry about "sounding stalkerish", it's very sweet of you to drop by just to let me (and by extension, us) know about your thoughts! 😊 The thing is, it's not that we met when we were cosplaying; perhaps me saying we weren't a couple yet gave that impression, but since you asked, I might as well tell you the full story?

You may want to sit, it's a little long (though I'll do my best to be brief) 😅

We already knew each other, we had been acquaintances for a long while, actually! We met when we were 14/13 or so (we're 31/29 now, I'm the older one). We weren't really that close, but we were on friendly terms and all that.

I'll skip the very personal bits which includes (but is not limited to) us getting closer to each other and stupidly pining mutually, but the sequence of events that led to it is one (!) of the reasons why I tend to say we're a "dazatsucore" couple. Because:

He was into me > I noticed on the spot, and did nothing > I was into him > he didn't know because I hid the fact > leads to him blurting out a confession thinking he'd be turned down > I do not turn him down but ask for some time to think things through because I want to be sure of my feelings first > not too long after I have an answer.

By the way, everything I'm saying gets even better (and funnier) when you consider I'm the "Dazai" one, while he's the "Atsushi" in this.

Anyways, about the cosplay shenanigans you inquired about; back when we were getting closer to each other (2016ish), I had become interested in BSD but knew nothing about it; I knew he had watched it, asked what were his thoughts on it, he said it was nice, recommended it, etc. He then commented that he planned to cosplay Atsushi, showed me the character and shared his cosplay plans.

I had only watched the opening so far (the thing that led me to ask him if the anime was good), and Dazai was the one who had caught my eye the most, so I said, very offhandedly, that 'hey, I'd be down to go with you to the con, I do entertain the idea of cosplaying Dazai'.

He was like 'woah, really?! That would be so fun!' but also got extremely nervous on the spot. I obviously noticed. You see, my spouse isn't really the type of person who can hide his feelings very well + I'm good at reading through people. We've always been a funny match in that regard, ngl.

From a quick Google search I did to gather references for the outfit, I could tell the two characters were a somewhat popular pairing, so I made 2+2, I also already knew he had a crush on me and just did nothing about it, like I explained above. So he had gotten nervous that people could mistake us for a couple because the two characters are (were? sadly) a popular pairing.

Which I did know... And again, did nothing about because while my suggestion to cosplay together was sincere, having no intentions of manipulating him or anything, that did work in my favor as well so two birds, one stone.

In the meantime, what I told you above happened and we started dating. And, for obvious reasons, we decided to go ahead with the cosplay plans 😌 I've never posted a clear picture showing our faces because we're not the best photographers out there, but here's one of the least terrible ones:

The icing on the cake, that doesn't have much to do with us, but is still something we remember about fondly: we're Brazilian, and Brazil is a very big country. The anime con we were going to attend was the biggest in our country but also some good hours away (a 9 hour travel away to the capital, to be more precise), so we took a bus ride with some people headed there as well. It's common for people to make these "con attendees" group rides and they're always really fun experiences + very cost efficient.

One of the people we befriended on the ride was this girl who, coincidentally, was cosplaying as Chuuya. Since we're a queer couple (nb sapphics who go by he/him pronouns) we didn't know what amount of gay was okay in public, but this one girl knew we were a couple, 100% sure of it and it was genuinely beyond funny seeing her and her friends waiting on us to just do something, anything, that gave the answer away.

We kissed like... once, when they were nearby, and the reactions were priceless, ngl. The euphoric I KNEW IT faces.

Back then we weren't married yet, so no telling rings or anything, but this Chuuya had gotten the vibes somehow. When I asked her how she knew before we even did anything, she said, just like this: 'it's the way you look at each other 🥺'.

I need you to imagine Chuuya Nakahara saying this, with this expression. Makes it all 20x funnier. Also the reason why I usually write him as a wingman/enabler in my fics.

Oh, and about the "he had no idea I knew all along", I did tell him... last year 😂 We were reminiscing about things and he went on a tangent saying something along the lines of 'I feel kinda bad because it was selfish of me but I liked the idea of us being seen as a couple back then so I didn't tell you the characters were a popular ship'.

To which I replied: 'Oh, I knew, don't worry.'

Cue shocked Pikachu meme for my spouse's reaction. I then explained that I was fully aware of everything all along, and he was like 'thank GOD you decided to play along then because I had no idea how to charm anyone' 😂

It feels good to put our silly story out there, I had told this story only to one person in the fandom so far (I won't tag her, but Katsu can confirm we're two dumbasses in love) because I don't usually talk about personal stuff publicly like this unless on a whim but also because, like I said, it's a very long story even with skipped parts.

volume XI thoughts

I did in fact have access to this on Tuesday and started to play but then got distracted and didn't finish until like 2am when I couldn't sleep anyway (this was a mistake I was so tired at work)

movie night!!! And fun movie night titles!! ofc MC doesn't get her own custom one bc everyone's got different names but my MC is named Maya and with how things have been going I'm pretending her movie title is Messy Messy Maya 🤭

Emel and Oakley both being unfaithful in casa but finding (forcing?) their way back to each other and forgiving each other feels very much like something in the show so I appreciate that storyline tbh

Felicity is too beautiful of a sprite to waste as a Casa girl that only shows up for movie night.

Sienna going "I don't care if it's egotistical, pick my movies" because no one else is gonna care to pick hers 😬😬 id feel bad for her if she wasn't so mean

Hari and Hazel are so cute together but it seems like it's gonna die out soon 🥲 Like I see why if Hazel is panicking and Hari isn't the most reassuring guy and also not completely over MC but aghhh he's gonna fumble Hazel to LIAM. Hazel, not LIAM plsss

Absolutely awful that Liam is so funny bc he's such a piece of shit (awful in the best way, like he's so Messy Mitch from LI UK s10 coded and while I don't like him I appreciate the fun he brings). I think the thing stopping me from going full in on this Claudia route is she keeps going back to Theo, and not like she has to be pursuing MC 100% for me to pick her but I'm just getting mixed signals with her trying to save her relationship with Theo when they clearly aren't into each other anymore but there are plenty other people around.

Not on a Theo route and haven't talked to him but ngl his little video clip was cute like I almost jumped ship to be messy but nahh. I wonder how that's like if you're actually pursuing him though like does it feel like pay off or shock or reassurance or anything.

Like even MC's movie clip playing, first of all was just if she slept with someone in casa I think (which, it's fair enough considering the game's limitations but I was missing all the other times she hoed around). So for my MC it was with Claudia, and Claudia barely has a response to it. And so I'm kinda just going towards the character actively pursuing and paying attention at this moment and it's Jin.

I guess MC was honest to Jin so he didn't mind the movie night thank God but also I want to replay to see the drama unfold. but in my head for some reason he'd be shocked it was Claudia bc she didn't say anything and like it'd be one thing if it was someone she just met like Max who she's been friendzoning ever since but another thing for it to be her best friend in the Villa. but alas, that is a large amount of branching and coding and dialogue to write so I'll let it slide.

a recoupling so soon after?? it's not like the season feels too rushed, but like I mentioned before, the pack in so many things in each volume you don't get much of a chance to chill out with the characters and pretend it's a vacation for your character lol

the problem with me playing early is I'm so curious how everyone else's game went. like is it only your OG LI or Casa Boy that can pick you?? And the chat you have with your partner after, does that lock your route because after this I feel there was a little bit less attention on MC from the other LI's (which I don't mind, so they can have their own stories now, but I wanna knowwww)

Such a minor detail, but I do love that despite her being so awful to MC, that Sienna canonically is a very conservative dresser. like we all see her churchy outfits. and I think maybe she's a little insecure about her body and stuff. that being said, the dialogue she has when she's in costume about feeling confident, and her costume isn't super revealing, and the girls being shocked at her dance, is all very good to have. like it's nice to have that type of character around and the fact that she's also the villain rn? she contains multitudes (or I'm reading into it too hard 😂)

And now Claudia and Bea flirting with each other? Okayyy I mean my fingers are crossed so here's hoping they find each other if not MC. and they have a lot in common but feel like different characters so like pls let them be together (I say this as someone every few months posting about how it shouldve been Cora and Angie not friendzoned Oliver and Angie in the s4 finale)

ok but his entrance feels so overshadowed by other things going on though like I feel like he didn't get a chance to really bombshell to the point where I think he should've been introduced next volume instead. like have him have a normal bombshell entrance with dates or smth, then maybe when they're all chilling the next day and getting to know him someone brings up he missed heart rate challenge and they suggest he dances for the characters he's most interested in, if we really wanted to get his messy entrance in.

Two unfortunate things are true in my mind: Logan is very attractive (at least when he's got the hat on) and also he looks like Liam 🫣

Ngl sometimes i feel bad abt disliking LMK so much because some of my friends like it alot and one of them hyperfixates on it. But then i remember just how badly it fucked up in depicting Sun Wukong's character that im pretty sure even villainous portrayals of him in media have given him more dignity, how Six ears basically got woobified and Karma Houdinied despite the show itself showing him as a pretty fucked up villain in S1, how much the Eng Dub butchered the hell out of the Bull Demon Family's dynamic and that this show basically removed one of the core aspects of the story (Buddhism) and then i suddenly dont feel that bad anymore.

Plus its not like they know my actual opinions abt it. As long as they dont ask i think im good lol

Monkie Kid spoilers & complaining & likely exaggerating things below so avert thine eyes if you don't want to see all that

gterewfs not to add even more to the apparently intolerable trend of bringing up Xiyouji when talking about Monkie Kid but it is kind of funny how I've now seen multiple people say a lot of their dislike of the lego show comes from knowing how Sun Wukong can be depicted when he's not being written as a cringefail hermit (X_X). And as is @seasonalsummers if pressed you can probably just tell your friends that Monkie Kid just isn't your thing & leave it at that. Because yeah I've spoken before how it's not fair to expect people to make their way through the ~1,400 pages of the best English translation of the og classic in developing their sense of the journey and Sun Wukong's whole deal, and the vast diversity of depictions of the Monkey King in retellings does seem to stand testament to how much this monkey can be changed to suit the needs of a story. And as is the existence of Zaju Xiyou Ji does demonstrate how even in China this monkey's had bouts of being depicted as little more than a selfish clown, so maybe this is just the west's version of that lol.

THAT SAID, aaaaaAAAAAAA yeah genuinely is baffling and frustrating watching many people cheer and clap for what feels like the constant traumatization of Qi Xiaotian and the constant use of Sun Wukong as Monkie Kid's punching bag. Like heavens to betsy Flying Bark has so relentlessly focused on how thoroughly SWK screws up everything in both the past and the present and apparently, on his own admission, spent the entirely of his immortality doing little except making one mistake after another (i.e. routinely fucking up his life and the lives of everyone around him) that one really is left wondering why any of the show's cast would want to be even within 50 miles distance of this monkey, which is definitely something made all the more awesome by the sense that maybe the main reason is because the obvious villains of every season are explicitly trying to take over/ blow up the entire world rather than blundering their way into that position :(. And that's a dynamic definitely made even MORE awesome by everyone's favorite poor little meow meow never did anything wrong ever the Six-Eared Macaque spending the majority of his screen time both beating the tar out of Qi Xiaotian and telling anyone who will listen what a dumb bitch Sun Wukong is before the show then bends over backwards to validate his claims all while making sure he's never even slightly called out for the shit he pulls, with the clear favoritism made all the more clearer by such facts as Sun Wukong got screamed at by Long Xiaojiao in an extensive and dramatic scene for putting basically the monkie gang and the entirety of reality in danger through his doofus decisions and yet even though she literally watched the shadow simian beat Qi Xiaotian into unconsciousness and literally had her life seriously threatened by this same monkey until Tang Shifu started oh yeah the Fire of Samadhi ritual she's apparently perfectly fine with working with Mr. Six not long after. Add on top of that the way it now feels like SWK's not even really allowed to be friends with anyone except Macaque or even to interact with any of his other former besties in any meaningful way, and well this is really making for a not fun situation that keeps steering the plot away from some of the most interesting fun and heartfelt things that Monkie Kid could have done. And then on top of that Flying Bark has now shown themselves to have this habit of spending the majority of each season focusing on what a screw-up SWK is before waiting until the last possible episode before characters who up to that point couldn't have made their hatred for the Monkey King and Qi Xiaotian by extension more clear start pulling out abrupt and honestly hand-wavey reasons for why they suddenly like him. IDK! I like a good redemption arc but that's not something you can speedrun and then pretend like it's even remotely satisfying! And definitely doesn't do SWK any favors with the way he just stands there maybe looking kind of sad while someone yells at him for sucking entire before he runs off to suck at everything again and is barely ever allowed to be explicitly and messily upset about that or about what a colossal failure his life is or idk mayhaps what happened to the og pilgrims that apparently resulted in their premature deaths!! For as much as people keep saying they want characters to redeem themselves through living and working to be better and be upset and fucked up about their pasts well it sure might be nice in this situation if we actually got to spend some time on that instead of just relentlessly piling one catastrophic blunder on top of the other! tsetawraer sorry for the rant but yeah still pretty shocked on how much a silly lego show that started off as having fun adventures with the Monkey King would turn into the grimdark adventures of Young Man Traumatized, Asshole Goku, and the Stalker Shadow (X_X)

I’m ngl at least between the brazilian characters and gringo characters I feel like you are just not allowed to criticize anyone from either side lol. Like I personally find it valid to not let go of some memories or events, even if it’s months old. Examples being foolish arresting pac and mike, Jaiden finding the way stone, forever hitting leo etc. because these were big emotional rp moments and it just feels like disservice for them to not have any lasting impact. And if characters forgive each other, we get the satisfaction of growing character development and relationships

From MY PERSPECTIVE viewers of pretty much any character are always going to lean into self-victimizing angst and idk what can even be done about it lul. Like no character or storyline in IMPROV rp is gonna be perfect or even have perfect reasoning (also instead of viewers using “sillyness” as a reasoning I think it’s perfectly fine to just like…..conclude that maybe the cc thought that course of action would enable funner rp)

That ended up a bit too long, so there's me criticizing the fandom under cut.

I think the point of me being bothered about people not forgetting some actions, is that they don't do it in a constructive way. For example, I think the Bobby Fields should be remembered because it shapes Jaiden's mistrust and paranoia and also has great moments with Forever paralleling Jaiden, including a lot of foreshadowing that would pay off in Forever's arc. But when people just go about mindless hate or just to twist a character into what they aren't just to justify to keep talking badly about them months after the fact, it's no fun. Especially because a lot of it was also hate to the CC.

The Leo incident could have been amazing but the CC got SO much hate that he almost dropped QSMP and to this day he barely talks about it because it reminds him of the hate he got. It wasn't just qForever hate. He dropped an entire villain arc because of that. He apologized multiple times to cc!Foolish because of guilt.

I feel like there were very few CCs that were so harshly "criticized" as he was.

And what bothers me is also not "they're being silly" it's the hypocrisy of the fandom, I usually don't mind what the characters do. How you're complaining about Foolish not being taken seriously ever by his peers, but when he betrayed his friends and arrested them it's because "it's funny" or "just a joke". The selectiveness of what should be taken seriously or not is only when it benefits the characters.

I think it's fine if the characters do it because they're "silly" or "just a little guy", some characters ARE like that (actually, most of them.) But also some people are allowed to not like when they screw over a character they like because of sillyness. It doesn't erase the character's feelings.

I don't think things will get better though because since the characters share the name with the CCs, and the CCs are very active on Twitter, no matter if people are using Q or not before the name it's always gonna have people complaining and mistaking it as hate. So a lot of people walk around eggshells when this happens. But I usually don't see that happening with some characters who are freely criticized. So people end up getting mad at the double standards.

The Jaiden situation for example, breaking into the Fear room, I particularly didn't give a shit about it and I even felt disappointed the codebreakers weren't working. I actually wanted her to read the files. But people defending her immediately brought Forever up to talk about how what he did to her was way worse, even though Forever is not even involved in that situation and it's about Jaiden and Cellbit, the guy who even defended her from Forever about the Bobby Fields. Other people brought him up to say how unfair it was the massive hate Forever got for doing something similar, while Jaiden got it easy. It's not that people want her to be hated, but it does sting seeing the same people who complained the most about qForever can brush it off when another CC does it.

So the double standards do exist, for me most people would appreciate the drama the characters create. I think it's funny to criticize because it's a story after all, but you can't help but feel annoyed at how some characters have it worse than others for similar actions.

Another great example is when people defended Foolish for arresting Tazercraft saying how it was just a joke, but when they tricked him into believing they killed Leo then revealed that it was a prank and started laughing, these same people were criticizing Tazercraft saying it wasn't a funny joke. That they thought it was cruel. Even though that was the lesson they wanted Foolish to learn, that what might be funny to you, might not be so funny for the others. And he understood that! His chat didn't, and for them Foolish was the sole victim.

So in the end, what bothers me is mostly the fandom lol

I don't dislike any character, despite having been displeased with a lot of multiple characters' actions. But some people can make the character more annoying just by how they try to defend them. But it's always important to try to separate them to the max.

i like the idea that im just out here writing gon a ghastly death as a nearly-dead killua extinguishes the final embers of gon's life with one final happy dispatch of his pistol before himself bleeding to death, crying all the while, and then i see this comment and go "no. these are sacred. i cannot."

UPDATE: further musings, are they interpretations of characters or are they my characters? i mean obviously yk, the names of the protagonists and a few of the supporting cast are not mine. back stories generally not mine, gon's is stolen pretty much verbatim though killua's is fiddled with a bit.

but like. they're not killua and gon, idk. not the canon ones certainly. i say "my story" but i always fight the urge to say "my characters", because they aren't my characters but at the same time they kind of are idk.

and like, some Witch Hammer DEEP LORE(TM) is that this began sort of as a prequel to a short story work of original fiction i wrote a few years ago. but i felt like the character i had made as protagonist was not sufficiently distinct enough from its inspiration.

so i was like ok what if i just chose existing characters whose general blueprints match what i had in mind when i wrote this short story, and killua and gon were super obvious choices. the protagonist i had written was traumatized and brooding and very bitter after having seen the world of the world, but he hated the fact that he was bitter. he hated it and wanted to try to be happy, because his one and only love who was long since dead would've hated seeing him how he was now.

so boom, killua protagonist, gon supporting protagonist and love interest, super easy call. fits that blueprint perfectly. this does not strictly mean that gon will die btw lol, my original work was sort of inspiration. but also, maybe you should know fear, oooooh the author is so scary what's he gonna dooooooo?

anyways so Witch Hammer is like, a fanfiction and a spiritual prequel to a separate original work all rolled into one. my endeavour was never to write like. "what would it be like if killua were a demon hunter and gon were his quarry" my endeavour was to write a story that already kiiiiiiind of existed and killua and gon fit what i needed. does that make sense?

so in that way i feel what is perhaps maybe an undue feeling of ownership towards killua and gon as it exists in my story. maybe after i finish it and then do the Witch Hammer Redux where I fix some mistakes that I made and add in detail and stuff, I'll make a third original work based on Witch Hammer and the thing I wrote a few years ago.

I dunno. Sort of a weird quandary. ngl i love my killua i think he's so much fun to write for, i don't *love* my gon but i mean i like him. but sometimes i love gon too, gon lets me use a different sense of humor and i really like that. my biggest problem with him is my own shortcoming, i as an author just feel really uncomfortable expanding his boundaries. like what do we know about killua?

he loves banter, is very interested in the world around him, he can fight, he's sort of standoffish but really nice deep down, also low-key scary.

whereas gon, what do we know about him? he's ignorant of the world borne of his isolated environment growing up, he's maybe a little too nice, a bit stuck up and maybe has juuuust a hint of "toxic positivity" in there. but like. what does gon *enjoy*? what does gon think about? killua thinks about history, politics, science, all this stuff, all we know about gon is that he's also probably interested in the outside world. oh i guess he likes to dance?

idk maybe im too hard on myself for how i write gon, just feel like i don't do him as well. like i started this out as a way to roast myself and i was like "well it's not that bad" like halfway through. like we know gon loves to dance, and that's at least a singular thing we know about him LOL and we know that he's not just superman, he's got thoughts and emotions and problems.

maybe it's just because i find killua so much easier to write, like killua is just the authorial voice ringing through and gon is a character, you know? i have to work to write for gon whereas killua is natural, and that probably shows up in the final product.

im generally proud of what ive made, but my biggest regrets are as follows (in no particular order)

1.) chapter two. SUPER mediocre, honestly i kinda hate it, i hated it as i wrote it and i hate it now. ill probably just delete it entirely if/when i do a redux and make a new chapter two from scratch

2.) chapter 11. that one's not just mediocre it's like actively awful. i hated writing it, man i was so embarrassed. but i thought that those two fucking needed consequences and that those consequences had to have consequences. like i think things happened as they realistically would have happened, hisoka would've wanted to kill killua's dumbass for fucking a demon knowingly. and after killua killed hisoka, he wouldn't stick around in town to finish the job he got hired to do, you know? he has new priorities and the job isnt worth it anymore, plus he thinks the guy that gave it to him was playing him, so of course he'd book it. but FUCK if that isn't satisfying narratively. man im high key ashamed of that chapter but i really felt like it had to be done that way lol. in a Witch Hammer Redux I'd totally redo most of that entire Outpost arc and find some other way to fit in, you know, the gay sex in a less destructive way. man that election really altered the direction of my story huh 😭😭

3.) most germaine for our concerns, i regret that i haven't given gon more of a voice. i want him to be more of his own person, an equal to killua whereas now i feel like he's low-key supporting cast. like his situation is super interesting, but it's so interesting it's like literally wtf do i say about it LOL like seriously. it's such a complex situation, there is no good or correct way to feel about it. maybe that in and of itself was the direction to explore? i dunno.

im roasting myself a lot but honestly ive cried writing a few parts in my story. one in chapter 9, and another in the most recent chapter, chapter 14. "i never, never want to say things like that to you again" got to me lol, like shit. ive been there man, ive got insecurities and a sharp tongue, i have been there. this story is super personal to me at this point, i love these characters. i think a few points are unironically good writing by any metric not just a "good for fanfiction" standards but like actually good writing. (i won't say that most of it is, it definitely isn't lol, but there's some banger stuff interspersed throughout).

the Tuloe arc has been slow because i take it so goddamn seriously lol like after how much i hated chapter 11 i don't want to release a chapter that's anything less than stellar, you know? i want to make it up to my readers, and also want to prove to myself after that disaster that i can write a good arc start to finish.

Didn’t the new 52 also weirdly insert Talia into Jason’s pre-Bruce story?

Yup! RHATO #25 and it was a certified mess, as expected of the N52. Talia was included in Jason's pre-Bruce backstory during Zero Year. If you know anything about the N52 timeline, you know it does not make sense in a single way. Jason was 10-11 when he was adopted post-crisis, but in Zero Year he has got to be at least 15-16. Talia's role in his story is insulting to her and you can tell by the fact that Jason (untrained, a child) lands a hit on her. She's entirely unaffected by it but this is Talia. Jason in his prime, after he's trained and mastered everything, might not be able to do even that. Talia is the deadliest woman in the DC universe. Anyways. On one side, Jason's annoying friend is making him join the Red Hood gang, on the other, Talia is there hunting an Untitled (enemies of the All-Caste,). After her and Jason meet, he sees he attempt an All-Caste move and fail, and then he gets it right on his first strike at an Untitled. This one I actually understand because Jason's literally the only human to be able to use All-Caste techniques, and Ducra's told Talia this before.

I thought this part was funny ngl. Talia's just doing her think and Jason's "strong woman to idolize" senses are going off. Make no mistake, though, this issue ends with Jason's asshole friend calling her his girlfriend, so the kiss on the cheek Talia gives Jason at the end is kind of ruined too. I found it interesting that Talia calls Ducra something of a mother to her. They've got like three pages total together, but I have headcanons on their relationship.

I also liked Talia showing that she cares about this random kid. I love fated family in general, so this meeting wouldn't bother me so much if it didn't suck in every way lol.

So that's that. This issue ends in Talia telling Ra's she wasn't good enough to do it, but this random white boy was. Woohoo.

At Level 43, Andrea wanted to learn Poison Jab. Which, at six stars power and accuracy, was real freaking tempting, don’t get me wrong. But I learned from my last mistake in forgetting Quick Attack. And I’m not willing to ditch any of the other moves, so I can’t risk letting that happen again.

WHUH?? How can a Wobbuffet do so much damage with a non-STAB physical move?! This loss just baffled me.

LITERALLY stepping on a Hidden Stairs tile right before the actual stairs SKDSJDSHGDS. I mean, sure! Why not!

I had Teresa do a regular attack while Combusken was in the air, thinking she could take the hit. She Could Not.

Andrea learning this IQ Skill on the last floor before the final boss. Little did I know this was a warning.

Everyone in this world is just uber territorial by default and would rather LARP Warrior Cats than try to negotiate. So is Cubone really more irrational than anyone else right now?

If the Gulpin ambush was harrowing... The Cubone fight is... well, not the exact opposite? But it’s something truly bizarre.

So Teresa throws a Rare Fossil for the opening move, the ol’ reliable. Cubone advances and Andrea draws to her partner’s side. There’s still a tile between Cubone and Teresa. I hesitate. I could throw another fossil, but I want to make the fight count. I have Teresa attack at the empty tile, expecting Cubone to step forward.

He doesn’t. Instead he uses Heal Block. Making the already high stakes (no Reviver Seeds, one Oran Berry) even higher. Again, I tell Teresa to attack at the tile.

Cubone uses Bubble. Andrea’s Storm Drain swallows it up. I chuckle in amusement. One more time: attack the empty tile.

“Cubone used Rock Polish! Cubone is at double speed! Cubone is at triple speed!” / “Cubone used Rock Polish! Cubone is at quadruple speed! Cubone can’t go any faster!”

...Okay, this is worrying. What if his last move hits hard? At quad speed, we wouldn’t stand a chance.

Cubone finally steps forward. After biting my lip and thinking for a bit, I turn off all of Andrea’s moves except Smokescreen. It’s time for Teresa to hit hard with Seed Flare and end this as quickly as possible.

“Cubone took 82 damage! Its power rebounded! Teresa took 41 damage from the counterattack!”

Me: *strangled gasp* Frick frick FRICK, he has an ability with rebound!

Andrea uses Smokescreen. Cubone takes a bunch of turns so quickly that suddenly I’m blinking in confusion long after he’s done.

“.....What just happened?” I say in befuddlement, checking the message log.

“Andrea used Smokescreen! Cubone became a Whiffer!” / “Cubone is watching carefully!” / “Cubone is watching carefully!” / “Cubone recovered from its Whiffer Status!” / “Cubone is watching carefully!” / “Cubone is watching carefully!” / “The Heal Block wore off!”

Why... why wasn’t he attacking? Did he not have any other moves?

Seed Flare is special, so... would the rebound happen with a physical attack? Teresa throws a Dizzy Punch.

“Cubone took 61 damage! Its power rebounded! Teresa took 30 damage from the counterattack!”

“Oh no,” I say in a pained voice. But good news: Cubone is now confused. Andrea uses Smokescreen again. Cubone just runs around in confusion and the Whiffer status quickly wears off. He’s at triple speed, a tile behind Teresa. Cubone casts another Heal Block.

What am I to do now? Teresa has 33 HP out of 104. Andrea could maybe squeeze in two more attacks before getting stuck in the same corner. I check our bag for Plan B. A Blast Seed! Not great, but better than nothing!

“Teresa ate the Blast seed. Cubone took 35 damage!”

“Andrea used Octazooka! It’s super effective! Cubone took 70 damage! Its power rebounded! Andrea took 35 damage from the counterattack!” / “Cubone is at double speed! Cubone returned to normal speed!” He ambles further away, still confused.

At this point, I’m at a loss. If we kept attacking, Cubone would knock us out with rebound alone. With a sense of regret, I realize we have little other choice. I start chucking the Rare Fossils.

“The Rare Fossil flew at Cubone! Cubone took 100 damage!”

“Andrea used Octazooka! It’s super effective! Cubone took 65 damage! Cubone’s accuracy fell slightly! / The Heal Block wore off!”

No counter this time? Innnteresting. Presumably, he’s too far away to hit us. But I don’t want to risk it. Two more Rare Fossils go flying.

And... it’s over. He falls before the confusion can even wear off.

So that was... weird.

This sleeping pose (?) is perfect, so I have NO IDEA WHY HE GOES FROM THAT TO SUDDENLY STANDING UP.

C2E51 - Xhorhaus - rewatch reaction

Watched an episode of Leverage earlier for the fun mindless feels, time to jump into CR and actually process shit!  XD  Which I can, because I’m no longer sick, and so thinking is able to be done again!

(I do want to take a second to say that I really do love the tunnel episode, even though I barely frickin said anything.  It’s a good fun episode, and I LIKE the fact that it is so repetitive at times, because it emphasizes the state that the party is in, but it doesn’t get bogged down by it to the point that the players get bored.  Matt apologizes for it at one point, but he shouldn’t have because he did it perfectly right!  I also like that they only skimmed the Underdark, the monotony interspersed with bits of action honestly felt more intimidating IC than just heading into the Underdark for a dungeon crawl.  YMMV)

I FORGOT THIS WAS THE V-DAY EPISODE!!!!   Let’s just say that I’m thirsting after everyone and it remains that way all episode and leave it at that XD

I LOVE it when Sam’s ads are goofy as fuck but also REALLY REALLY GOOD at the same time.  This poem was soooo good!  The incorporation of dnd terms and dirty talk worked PERFECTLY.

Introduction of the potions!!  I forgot that he made them himself, didn’t buy them or get them from a fan.  NGL, they are really really freaking awesome and super beneficial.  If I ever DM a game in person, it’s one thing that I would genuinely considering making or getting.  Moreso than a lot of other things, personally.

Liam getting rid of his level four spells because of the error he had made the previous game.  I hope that this is something that he wanted to do on his own, but I feel like it might have been because of backlash that he’d gotten after the episode. :(  Just knowing some of the nastier parts of the fanbase, I feel like there were probably accusations of cheating rather than just a mistake.  So I like this bit, but it also makes me very sad.  ….it also makes a good fic! https://archiveofourown.org/works/17843060 Still on my feet somehow, by ArbuscularMycorrhizal. BEAU ASKING CALEB FOR ARM WRAPS I totally forgot about this moment and it is SO sweet, even though it’s not played out that way.  First of all, huge props to Marisha for taking the moment of rescuing Nott and deciding that it would burn her arm wraps, completely sensible but something that would so easily be overlooked in many campaigns.  Secondly, the fact that she’s comfortable asking Caleb for it and he’s completely willing to share?  SIBLINGS.  Thirdly, Laura/Jester ragging on Liam/Caleb regarding the smell will never not be funny.  Especially because I can see myself on both sides of it, either playfully bringing up something over and over, or mildly exasperated at the fact that IT’S DONE and doesn’t apply anymore!

also I want to know what the fuck that beast thing was because holy shit that sounds terrifying.  But this is another aspect of this journey which I really adore the choices that Matt’s making.  This is twice now in the trip that they’ve had some sort of creature go past them without noticing, and it adds a level of depth and fright to their journey.  It’s the tension of it, the suspense, rather than the stressful combat type tension, and I think it works SO well. Difference between a thriller and an action movie, essentially.

Ah, I misunderstood how Liam was resolving the spell issue, and now that they did the long rest, him not wiping out his THIRD levels, but just knocking off a fourth level, it works.  Also confirms that the internet yelled at him, though he seems very blasé about it.  Still. (to be fair, I don’t mind people mentioning when others make mistakes, but I feel like it doesn’t need to be told TO them. Going ‘oh hey, Liam used an extra fourth level! Wish he hadn’t done that’ versus ‘LIAM YOU CHEATED YOU USED AN EXTRA SPELL’. I’m perfectly willing to talk here about how I’m not a fan of Molly, but I would NEVER say that to Taliesin.)

The athletics checks when climbing up the incline really leaned into telling the story.  Granted, obviously the individual PC bonuses made a difference, but Caleb CONSISTENTLY failing, Fjord and Caduceus failing once, it just fits so well!

Here’s some thoughts that are probably way off base, because I don’t remember the details of the war.  One thing that Matt always emphasized (or seemed to) was how it was pretty equally awful.  Both sides had been in tensions for years, decades, and how the provocation flamed both sides into action.  However, right now, the Muck Men leader is talking about how Xhorhas captured the Ashguard Garrison, but then just held it for a month without really doing anything.  We know that the Kryn sent a troop to Felderwin – as much as it’s speculated that it was to hit a farming town, it does seem like it was targeted to where they maybe thought the Luxon was (the experiments perhaps inducing a Luxon like effect that they tracked).  It’s going to be fun going back through this war and looking at all the aspects of it.  Yes, Essek triggered it by giving away the beacons, but I had thought that it was closer to flames. Here, however, it’s presented as less aggressive by the Dynasty, as stated by an Empire human no less.  I’ll have to keep my eyes open, see how that changes throughout the campaign.

I like how Matt made this guy super nice, knowing that he was going to get taken down very quickly.  Provides a bunch of information, is surprisingly respectful to the Kryn, offers supplies for no cost or trade, BOOM DEAD.

Also, as soon as I say all that stuff before?  Matt immediately puts them in a situation where the Kryn seem like obvious bad guys – they just come out and murder everyone.  I really appreciate how he never gives a clear cut ‘these guys are good, these guys are bad’. (though also to be fair, pretty sure the general opinion is that the dynasty is better than the empire, among fans and cast)

Hmmm...is the two shadow figures attacking with the main fighter while the echo is out something available as an echo knight as it is now?  I’m looking at the features and it doesn’t seem to apply. May have been a concept that was found to be too powerful to include with the class, or an NPC only ability.  Probably just early tinkering and concepts.

LOL Extract Aspects fiddling.  First you have to use a ki point, then you have to hit and you get one thing each hit, then you have to hit but you just get told certain info.  They get there eventually.

Cloudkill, so they are at least level 9.  Party is level 8 right now, so it’s tough but not insurmountable.

I do feel like it’s kind of a dick move for Sam to be telling Laura that she needs to roll con saves for Nugget and Sprinkle, when they are non-combat. It’s legit, but it’s still a dick move.  I like the way that Matt treats them essentially as objects UNLESS they are actively part of the combat.  “I’ll say for the purposes of FUN--” THANK you Matt.

You guys…..this episode is taking me SO LONG to get through!!!  I don’t know if it’s just the combat I’m struggling with or what.  OVER TWO WEEKS at this point (as of May 12).  I started watching this right after I posted my episode 50 reaction.

Fuuuck, I forgot just how hard they got rocked in this fight!  They’re just getting put to pieces!  Unfortunately, Marisha is having very crappy luck with her attacks at advantage, if she’d been able to hit and re-stun him, the battle could have swung in a very different way.

Oh shit, just looked on the wiki for mage dude.  First of all, he’s named: Lythir VaSuun, which makes sense ‘cause I do remember that he’s the Bright Queen’s dude.  But also!  He’s level 11 or more.  So I take back what I said (nearly THREE weeks ago at this point) about it being tough but not insurmountable.  I don’t think this was a battle that they were supposed to be able to win.

For all that Fjord’s big moment is Aeor was so shocking, I’m seeing more moments of it during the campaign itself.  When the roc is flying down and attacking the group of bugbears and the Nein decide to lie in the grass to try to hide, Fjord uses Major Image to create a mastodon running in the direction of the bugbears.  Sure, they’re ‘monsters’ rather than ‘people’ at the moment, but there’s still that aspect of Fjord that carries through of making far more ruthless decisions when he needs to benefit his team.  It’s very beneficial to pick up on this during the rewatch because it makes the Aeor decision less shocking, less out of the norm.

(also you can tell I’m not talking much.  I have NO CLUE why, but this episode is just so hard for me to get through!  Maybe it’s because I’m really impatient for them to get to Rosohna, and I know that it’s still a few episodes away?)

Yanno, with the tensions being high with the war and everything, I’m surprised that Beau (A HUMAN) asking to RIDE ON A BUGBEAR LIKE A RAFT INSTEAD OF SWIMMING didn’t incite further anger or violence.  Like, the fucking arrogance of a HUMAN to treat another being like an OBJECT!! Matt didn’t lean into this, but I kinda wonder what it would have been like if he did.  Maybe he was just holding off on the revelation of how humans are treated until they actually got to Asarius?  (omg I almost typed Bassuras.  If you know, you know)

Baron Visco.  I’m like, 99.9% sure that they never see this dude or look for him and he becomes one of Matt’s forgotten little plot threads.  Though I suppose if they didn’t short-cut into the Bright Queen’s Favor (ehhh? Eeeehhhh??  see what I did there????...okay I hate myself for that one XD), maybe he would have been a thread for them to go to in order to work on gaining trust.

Nott and Fjord fucking with each other.  THERE IS NOTHING BETTER.

I’m still not sure if I would call this quiiiite consensual tattooing.  She’s bribing him for a tattoo essentially.  Yes, he’s free to say no, but it’s not like she just offered without anything and he said yes.

Oh hell yeah, I have fully embraced it and this ship; I was writing SilverV porn before the game came out, like I knew what my ship for this game was gonna be from the second I saw gifs of

That banter sealed my fate and I’m fairly sure I had named and created my V then wrote porn of her with Johnny literally a week later. The devil works hard, but my brainrot works harder and faster. 

Spoilers! 

Okay, so I’ve thought a lot about that date in both a silverv context (and largely how it fits with my V, Aidan and her fic) I’ll try to stay general though. 

Firstly, I whole heartedly believe Rogue sees through their bullshit. Not only is she just good at that, but Johnny even states she has MRE’s (?) and can see through people, like her eyes can pick up on signs of lying. And usually, thats not an issue for when V talks to her, but when she asks about Johnny and their relationship with him. Its a mess. And when Rogue asks Johnny about it, its a mess. 

And when Rogue notices the tattoo it’s like Oh... I get it . And Johnny is of course like, “hahaha, yeah I thought that’d be so funny, the kid hates it.” But Rogue isn’t stupid, she knows a lovey dovey heart with their names, something that looks like someone doodled it on their third grade notebook about their crush, is not really typical of Johnny’s “joking” She knows that if Johnny is not really the kind of guy to hahahaha its so funny to make it look like we love each other; he’d be more likely to get a dick tattooed on V’s arm if it was just to mess with them. For gods sake, look how many people didn’t pick “the other one” because they were convinced it was gonna be a dick. That’s a Johnny just trying to fuck with someone move. So, she doesn’t buy it, but doesn’t push it...with him. 

She asks V about and of course they play it off as “Yeah, Johnny thought it’d be funny, what a fucking asshole, its so fucking dumb, I totally fuckin hate it.” 

“So, why not get it removed?” 

“Uhhhhhhhhhhh, well you see what had happened was, um, I, just uhhhh, never been enough time, I guess yeahhhhhh.” 

Cause lets face it, in cyberpunk universe, getting a tattoo removed should be easy. If you can get blades in your arms and can have a completely newly reconstructed body in like an afternoon; you can get a tattoo removed in like twenty minutes. So, V still keeping it, says volumes about how they really feel.

Now, V’s jealousy and the date. 

I do absolutely agree that any anxiety or ill feeling V might have up until the date; Johnny is gonna feel, but not realize where it’s coming from. I think if anything, he’s gonna chalk it up to V being anxious about giving him control again and he’s gonna be like worried that maybe V doesn’t trust him as much as they let on. 

And I do think a V who has feelings for Johnny, would not be able to help feeling some jealousy regarding Rogue and Johnny. Just because jealousy is natural thing to feel and while you can debate if they were ever a good or healthy couple, you can’t debate they shared very real feelings for one another. And I think a lot of V’s jealousy would come from just how much Johnny seems to first think of/go to Rogue. When he needed to save Alt, first person he turned to, Rogue. When he wanted to bomb Arasaka tower (going by his memory of it and ignoring that the event was probably actually planned by Morgan Blackhand), who’d he go to? Rogue. When he becomes determined to get Smasher, who is he determined to get him with, Rogue. When he first decides to atone for his past mistakes, who’s the first person he wants to make up with, Rogue. When at the rooftop, who does he want to go grab to help him save V, Rogue. 

If you got feelings for someone, that’d hurt, I think it’s impossible for that not to spark some jealousy. And V if anything is also mad at themselves for having those feelings, because they like Rogue, she’s a badass, a legend, they respect the hell out of her. And of course they have feelings for Johnny and they wanna help him make shit right and they wanna give him a chance to enjoy himself. But this stupid reptilian part of their brain is screaming but i want to be the first person he goes to, the first person he thinks about, which they know is also stupid cause for fucks sake the man literally lives in their brain, they’re as close as two people can be and literally when Johnny has the power to go to someone for something, he can’t go to V because they’re reduced to sleeping essentially until Johnny hands back the reigns. Yet, feelings aren’t aren’t always, rational, sadly. 

And to Johnny’s credit, he probably doesn’t even give it that much thought. Rogue is a badass, someone he cares for, someone he can depend on and someone he hurt really badly. The two people he can and always has been able to depend on the most (other than Alt prior to her death) have been Kerry and Rogue. And, bless his heart, the fuck is Kerry gonna do? Kerry ain’t a merc, Kerry isn’t gonna bust into Arasaka Tower or plant a bomb. Kerry doesn’t have the connection to Smasher. So, of course, Rogue is gonna be his go to. And in terms of making things up to people...he literally cannot really do much to make things up to V, not the way he can for Rogue or Kerry. Cause, when him and V are both conscious, he can’t do much beyond touch and talk to them. Hell, even with Rogue and Kerry, he relies mostly on V to help him do anything. Even with people he can interact with and do something for; V is doing all the nitty gritty work for him. V drives Rogue to the theater, V breaks into the theater, V gets the projector going. V breaks into Kerry’s house, V disables the security. V gets in contact with Nancy. V gets Nancy out of Totentanz in one piece. 

Which probably if V actually thought about it critically, does mean he’s going to them and relying on them more than Rogue, but they’d probably dismiss it out of it being for necessity and not because he cares about them and feels he an depend on them. 

Anyhow, Johnny would probably love to do some nice gesture to make up for his bender to V, hell they probably were the first person he wanted to make things up since they are his catalyst for changing. But what feasibly can he do for them? Anything he’d want to do with/for them, would just be asking V go do this thing and i’ll also be here. Anything that would put them in public interacting is out, unless they want MaxTac called on V for looking cyberpsychotic. He can’t even do an at home date, because he can’t cook (engram or not) and he can’t buy them anything nice he has no money and also doesn’t technically exist. He could try to do so sneakily while he’s in control...but he’d be using V’s money so they might as well just buy it for themselves. he can play music for them,,. but that doesn’t seem too special and more than a little egotistical to think it’ll make V feel better about what he did... So... all he can really do, is prove he’s worth trusting by being on his best behavior and more importantly do what he can to save V’s life. 

Then there’s the date. And as usual, I have some opinions and feelings about a thing.  Like, okay, I’ve seen some people (aka Gamer Bros on Twitter) being like, Rogue is Johnny’s girl. Wanting to date either of them is wrong because they like each other. (then you also get the BUT ALT crowd, but rants for another day.) And I can’t help but ask, did we play the same date? Their entire date is about how they’re both desperately clinging to the past. Rogue is trying to reclaim 2013-2023 Rogue and Johnny just wanting for a night to feel like the world and his place in it haven’t been completely rearranged. And it ends with Rogue telling him, she is not that girl anymore, she can’t pretend to be, and frankly she doesn’t want to anymore. She wishes she could be, wishes she was still that tall haired street punk who’d never dream of working with corps or being a fixer, but she’s not. Her and Johnny are no longer the same people who met back in to 2010’s. Doesn’t mean they don’t care about one another and doesn’t mean what feelings they had weren’t real or important; but they’re just not those people anymore. Rogue more so than Johnny since he’s freshly on the course of change.   

Something else in regards to the date, that I think is important to talk about and how it relates to silverv and its something I personally have very conflicting feelings about. The fact that Johnny can initiate some physical intimacy with Rogue. See, I have never chosen the option to kiss Rogue during the date and actually did not learn until relatively recently, that if that choice is made it goes a biiit further than a kiss. I have watched the scene now.

And god I have mixed feelingssss. Like, I get it, but I’m not sure I like it. And I know full well, my silverv bias impacts my feelings on the matter, it’s be disingenuous to say otherwise. But I don’t think the ship is purely my reason for having these feelings. But at the end of the day, its all opinions. So, I get from a character perspective that Johnny and Rogue are trying so hard to reclaim their past and what they use to have that they get caught up in trying do what they would do if this was the 2010’s. And Johnny’s relationships as we’ve seen are very physical, sexual chemistry and attraction are major factors in his relationships because he kept things very superficial most of the time. He even says part of the issue with his relationship with Rogue is at the time he didn’t realize he could let her see the true him and still hid behind walls, kept things at a distance. So, the idea that’d they fall back into the old habit of trying to just be physical and ignore their feelings, isn’t out of character. 

However, and Johnny even seems to acknowledge this issue when Rogue interrupts it, they’re doing this with V’s body. V...who did not consent to sexual contact. They consented to a date and while one could logic that this would mean everything a date could entail up to and including physical intimacy; I would argue that that is something that would need further conversation to have clear consent. And like again, this might come down to boundaries and personal feelings. Because I go back to the bender and what’s been interesting to me is too see different opinions on it; some people weren’t actually bothered at all by Johnny’s bender in V’s body, some people were bothered by the drugs and alcohol specifically cause their V is straight edge. Me, personally, it was the sexual content and the endangering of V’s life. Like, it was mostly funny and oh yeah, I expected that it’s bad but eh I’ll move on, to me, until he started getting sexual with people in V’s body. Like that to me is not just crossing the line, it’s catapulting over it. 

And like I said, Johnny even responds to Rogue’s “this isn’t fair” with “what, you mean it’s not fair to V?” which she says she meant it isn’t fair to Johnny. (Which viscerally upset because you nearly used V’s body for sexual gratification without their consent and you’re worried about Johnny, which tbf Rogue has no way of knowing what V has and hasn’t consented to, so its not on her but that was my knee jerk thought). So, he has some awareness that maybe that was a bad move. 

And yeah, it definitely to me and my V would be a very bad move (unless he explicitly talked to them beforehand and got consent). And in general, it made me feel like, dude, you just promised you’d be better and not break V’s trust but again not a day later you’re nearly using them to have sex. It felt like a backslide, which isn’t necessarily unrealistic, cause change and growth is not always linear, people can commit to changing themselves and still fuck up and not get it right; in fact it’s rare for them not to have any sort of backsliding or repeating of mistakes. 

Again, I will also give credit that he could have been assuming that given V consented to the date, they assumed or were cool with their being physical intimacy between him and Rogue. He also generally, might not have really planned for it to happen, because I don’t think Johnny plans a lot of anything. It very well might have just sort of happened. Also, V doesn’t clearly communicate if the sexual component was an issue in the bender. All V really seems to have an issue with in game is the very general thing of; he misled them and used them. So, he might have assumed that wasn’t ever an issue. And hell, if you wanna go full meta, the player is technically the one who makes that choice and V is largely an avatar for the player, so that alone could be seen as whether or not V would/does consent. 

But, from a story perspective, removing the player choice element. I think how that’s handled would have a huge impact on silverv and where it goes from there. 

Because if V and Johnny did talk about consent prior and V did consent while having feelings for Johnny, god I’d have to imagine they’d still feel pretty hurt, but feel it’s irrational to feel that way and have put their own feelings aside because clearly Johnny cares about and wants Rogue and they should ruin what could be his one chance to make things right. 

If there like in game was no talk of consent and Johnny ends up kissing and touching on Rogue and V finds out or has memories of it surface,that could be devastating for them. Not only from their own feelings for Johnny, but this since of betrayal and hurt. Was the oil field conversation just a lie? A manipulation? V might feel like they were used; that Johnny never gave a shit about them or how they feel. And Johnny would have to deal with the realization that intentionally or not; he earned back V’s trust just to destroy it again. He fucked up again, he ruined everything again, he got his second chance and destroyed it…. And he doesn’t know how, if he can, or if he should bother trying to ask for a third. In general, I do think, V would come out of the date assuming (naturally so) that Johnny really only has romantic feelings towards Rogue, that they’re just a friend at best, a host to be used at worse. I even in my own universe with my V have them after everything is better, everyones got a body, expects Johnny to start pursing Rogue and trying to swallow their own feelings and be a supportive friend, try to encourage and push him to do it and Johnny’s just like please stop, Rogue is this close to murdering us both.

I was gonna add more funny stuff to this and include a shitposty interaction he has with my V over them dressing up for the date and shit, BUT HOLY FUCK THIS GOT LONG AND SAD????? I’M SO SORRY.
