a post about fic updates! so the fics im currently juggling are dog teeth, tams, and of course, taob. my original plan was to start posting the second installment of the dog teeth series by sometime in april, bc it's the fic im most into atm and i already have the first chapter done, i just want to bank another one or two because once i start posting it i want to KEEP posting it with regular updates, hopefully every 2 weeks like with kaiein. HOWEVER this will put my atla fics on a back burner. april is a good writing time for me (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE) bc i have the entire month off from uni to prep for may exam season, and i always want to write when im procrastinating my degree. which is. it's own thing im sure i'll graduate it's fine i'm fine. so if i focus on dog teeth, neither tams nor taob will get focus until like. june. which is par for the course with taob but im NOT happy about doing with tams.

SO my thought process was i can either be normal about this and just accept it's literally my final year at uni and im trying to graduate and it doesn't matter if updates are slow on ANY fics, or i can do my usual and implement an insane deadline that i somehow always make by the skin of my teeth. can you guess what i went with?

and thus i present unto the crowd my tentative plan: have the next taob chapter done by middle of april (im aware this is quite hand-wavey but it gives me a month to work with, so in my head this means anything between april 10th-20th), have the next tams chapter done by the end of april, and dog teeth can follow.

ARC-V Episode 1 "Dub-Uncut" (ENG Dub w/ JP OST) WIP #3 | The Duel of the Decade? (WIP #1; WIP #2)

Another preview of my ARC-V Episode 1 "Dub-Uncut" take, as this time, we go into the first couple minutes of the episode. Dialogue-wise, I didn't change things too much, other than snip out some extraneous fluff added to some lines to make them longer than the Japanese line(s) (which 4K loved to do for ARC-V, but luckily it's usually easy to un-fluff them). I removed a line Yuya had after bumping into Gongenzaka calling him a "boulder" and reused an "Ouch!" with his groaning here to make this more like the JP version; I had to grab a Shuzou "Let's see now..." line from episode 12 (I think it was) for use as he sees Nico (4K trimmed his "Who are you?" shot a bit for time); Nico's "so lovely to see you my boy" is from a later episode since 4K cut his bow there; and as Nico says he'd offer the "ARC System" for free, 4K shortened his line to have the "as in 'free'" bit before he gestured with his hands (which was cut), so I reused a "seriously" to pad out the previous line, then slowed "as in free" some to play it over that part. Also, in the dub, Nico's line about the potential Ishijima/Sledgehammer duel after Yuya's flashback was over reused footage of him speaking earlier that replaced the poster shots here, but was also another fluffed line; I trimmed it some and fit it over the poster shots. All in all, a fun listen with the "Everyday Life on the Move" OST playing here, one of my faves.

You'll notice I also applied a few visual translation edits here 😏 The edit to the poster Nico holds out about Ishijima was one I'd previously worked on back when I was considering subbing ARC-V (before Crunchyroll did) and though I lost the original project file when my file drive crashed in '22, I thankfully had it posted here; I redid a stitch of the panning shot down the poster and then cut/pasted/slightly edited my translation edits into it before mixing it back into the footage--I then just quickly made changes to two bits of text for dub use (using "The Sledgehammer" and "Paradise City" in the ad over the stadium). After that, I worked on the Yusho poster, using 4K's blank edit for it as a base which I touched up and then edited the text onto, working it back into the footage using AfterEffects and some motion tracking. Then, I worked on the destination sign on the bus in the beginning, making an edit for the Japanese version (with "Maiami City"), and then one for the dub for use here ("Paradise City"); not the smoothest edit I've worked on as mentioned in that post, but overall I like how it looks in motion, lol.

(I had also thought about translating the billboard ads in the city shot, but there aren't enough reference shots for some of the further away ones to see what they say, and that might also be a slight pain in later episodes, so I'll save myself from going full madman, haha.)

Anywho, lemme know what you think! I have another finishing touch or two I want to work on, then I'll likely be all set to release this with the next teaser. Stay tuned!

Thank you!! ("impressive" lmao more like I have the attention span of a hamster XD) And absolutely nothing wrong with being predictable, so are we all ♡

I fear that I've misled you with the title, though... Eönwë's camp is the setting, yes, but our favorite herald doesn't actually make an appearance ^^; It's a what-if scenario at the end of the First Age, of what if Mairon, after his plea to Eönwë failed, was making his escape from his camp at the same time as Maedhros and Maglor were sneaking in to take the Silmarils, and they briefly crossed paths. Here's a snippet:

“Third tent on your right,” he says in a low voice. “That blue one.”  Maedhros does not thank him, and Mairon does not wait. He turns his back – and if that is yet another unwise decision, it is merely the latest in a long line; he has been acting out of character since waking up with salt water in his mouth and seaweed in his hair and loss in his throat and his soul, and, if anything, he should thank Maedhros for grounding him, for his presence has shaken him up and brought him to his senses – and continues making his escape. He curls his left hand in front of his abdomen, fingers ready to call forth a spell – just in case. (He is without his sword; they took it, and he cannot risk being caught to reclaim it, though its absence is carving into him with every step as surely as if it was the star-forged blade itself.) “They’ve put the fire out!” he hears a new voice whisper. “We don’t have much time until – brother, who was that?” Mairon tenses.  “No one,” Maedhros says after a heartbeat, his voice low and even. “Come, they’re this way.” He hears their footsteps making for the tent he indicated. Later, sitting at a table in a room full of things he despises, driven there by road-weariness and the need for information, he will overhear how the last of Fëanor’s sons reclaimed their Silmarils only for them to burn their hands, the eldest throwing himself into a fiery chasm. And, in his dark corner, he will imperceptibly lift his flagon of wretched dwarven ale – the only drink to be found at wayside inns this close to the mountains – in acknowledgment of the only member of that race in whom he had glimpsed a similar spirit. And he will allow himself a moment of sentimentality to think of him, falling into the earth, and of Fëanor, who was consumed until nothing was left but ash, and wonder if, in the end, fire always calls back its own. Much, much later – at the end of everything, with fumbling fingers and crumbling rock and the melting of metal – he will remember this. But this is the First Age, still, if only barely, and for all his powers and his skill, Mairon cannot tell the future. my FRIEND is having a BABY which is a great reason to MAKE HER SOMETHING!! and after a really lengthy deliberation i have decided that i am going to try to WEAVE a BLANKET which is a bad idea because i have a smallish rigid heddle loom & hate seaming BUT i have a cotton blanket that i love very much which was given to me when i was small (not quite baby small) & i am too compelled by the idea to be sensible. anyway please think kind thoughts in the direction of my actually completing this project in a timely manner & getting it in the mail to her while her baby is still baby

New Transmission The fucking Scientific Instrument Class Pseudocons apparently developed what they're calling "Hetero Sapience" and are corrupting the brainmodules of the non-Pseudo 'cons around them by using annoying xenophilosophy words. Soundwave tells me they're 'Greek' and 'Latin' words, apparently. Cool, I guess? Anyway, if you see any SI Class 'cons causing... issues, just try your hardest to turn your brainmodule off before you start getting infected with their weird lingo, alongside all the other issues pertaining to letting the SI Pseudocons transmit data into your brainmodule in their own weird ways. Thundercracker, on a bet with Starscream, tried to get into an argument with one of them and his head literally exploded when it started talking about Alpha Trion's "Mythological Origins" in its weird dialect. He's mostly fine, CR Pods are working at 'peak' efficiency, but the facial reconstruction is apparently impossible due to some kind of corruption. I thought it was just some weird prank but there weren't even any scorch marks or anything. Just exploded. So yeah, just avoid optical contact and auditory contact to the best of your ability and you should be fine. Otherwise, try to force-shutdown your brainmodule if you can. Shockwave is working on a cure right now, mostly because I know he had something to do with this in the first place so he's going to be the one to fix it. He probably wanted a greater justification to do that weird data-transfer idea he mentioned previously. But it also explains the weird Thunderwing hypotheticals he's been asking me lately... Can I go one fucking cycle without someone trying to "Perfect Thunderwing's Work" or whatever other idiotic drivel that I keep finding our limited energon reserves siphoned into?? It's not even a Shockwave thing, it's like every damn Cybertronian these days thinks they have the "Missing piece of the puzzle" or whatever. In fact, Shockwave might be doing this as a weird threat against the other R&D 'cons to cement himself as the one and only Decepticon "Allowed" to have resources wasted on projects like that. Ugh, now that I think about it, that's probably a correct assumption and he's probably gonna expect me to thank him for it later. Ugh, and he's probably literally right. Ugh. At least his repairs both to himself and to his lab seem to be mostly complete so further research into the SI project should hopefully come along a little faster. Both Shockwave and Soundwave think the SIs could potentially be used as some kind of specialty weapon, but we'll have to see how they work on sparkless lifeforms, like biological lifeforms or xenomechanical lifeforms. The SIs don't seem to corrupt each other, but Shockwave keeps reaffirming that they're not "Sparkless Lifeforms" because they "were never lifeforms to begin with"... but I think he's trying to hide something. Usually Soundwave is the one to pick up on that kind of technological obfuscation, but he actually agreed with Shockwave and offered to send Ratbat to try to work out exactly what each "sapient" SI is now capable of on a personal level. We could have just had regular Cybertronians aboard to fill the role SIs fill. I would've preferred K Class to fill any role an SI could fill in all honesty!! But no, constructing cold wasn't enough, we just had to try to learn how to "Construct Frozen" and the "Absolute Zeroes" just had to be put on my ship. Whatever. I've probably said too much already. This was supposed to be a warning for my ship crew, but it's looking like it'll end up being transcribed on the golden disk as well so when this new Scientific Instruments of Destruction project backfires in some absurdly bombastic way there will at least be something remaining that says I was right. New Transmission Okay so I was right, but so was Shockwave and Soundwave. Or, well, they were right just enough to make sure the backfire is postponed for at least another handful of cycles. Ratbat is still in CR from the investigation, but the cure Shockwave developed seems to be effective and Thundercracker is out and aiding the repair effort. Shockwave is now in contact with one of the SIs digitally and the other few are... integrating due to the personal efforts of Soundwave. I suppose now would be pertinent to mention not all the SIs developed the "Hetero Sapience" condition, many of them are safe for interaction. Soundwave is also currently monitoring their presence, Ravage is tasked with the regular SIs and Laserbeak is tasked with the "Sapient" SIs. Shockwave probably knows exactly what caused this event but he is preoccupied with the one he no doubt is either indoctrinating or ruthlessly interrogating. Report to Soundwave if you see any suspicious behavior, he has been working very hard to ensure the SIs have their purpose clearly defined (And closely monitored). And, Starscream, stop trying to convince the SIs that you are the leader of this ship. Not only have the majority of your efforts been wasted on subsentient automata, the only one you have actually found who possesses the ability to truly listen to you immediately came to the bridge to complain about you. They were the first sapient SI I communicated with directly and it was because they felt the need to complain about you. I almost feel embarrassed for you. Come back to the bridge so you can apologize to it or so I can teach it how to laugh at you. It's practicing right now actually! This moment of chaos should hopefully be largely under control now, the actual "population" of Scientific Instrument Class Pseudocons was actually quite fewer than initially expected due to an indexing error incorrectly labeling certain shells as SI class. At the very least, we have some more specialty warriors because of it all. End of Transmission EOF

Hired Sparky the final chapter is currently in the works! Ive had so much fun working on this book and I can't wait to show it off to everyone, but I wanna build up some more hype for it before it drops with some art about Liv and maybe a few questions answered about her.

I might try and find one of those Ask Game lists with a bunch of questions but make them Liv focused, I think that'd be a fun way to do more stuff with Liv before I post the story to A03

Decided to start a new project on the farm following a conversation with one of the directors about the apple trees we have on-hand (ie. they were bought, potted up and forgotten about).

Fairly simple project in theory - transplant the spare apple trees into the main orchard where there's currently a large amount of empty plots that either contained trees previously that didn't quite make it for various reasons or were dug in the wrong place due to a contractor error (the error is that he was a little stupid but shit happens). We have so many good trees just hanging around it'd be a shame to leave them to get root-bound in a tiny corner so I'm taking charge, especially because there's so much potential for the orchard to bring in money from various activities and, being a charity, this farm could use all the income it can get.

Based off of another short conversation with the farm founder who is an expert in apples and the guy who keeps buying the apple trees, potting them up and then forgetting about them (to be fair he's like 75) there's quite a lot to do but it is all fairly straight forward. The only things that may trip me up are:

a) finding time to meet with the farm manager to discuss a grazing and cutting regime for the orchard - difficult because he's only in during the week and I'm only in during weekends except for large events and these regimes will somewhat determine what I can do and when.

b) sorting out the budget for the project - there is apparently a £1200 p/y budget already set aside which isn't a lot and we need to repair a lot of the current fencing as well as buy materials for new fencing/irrigation/etc.

c) soil prep - the orchard has a heavy clay soil which I think is the reason so many of the original trees didn't make it, and a lot of the plots have overgrown so it'll mean a lot of work from day 1.

My plan for the coming weekend is to take a long walk around the orchard to note any repairs/potential problem areas and fix the taps, weather permitting. We have an event on sunday so I'm hoping the farm manager will be in to have a discussion about it then.
