For Halloween this year I had decided to dress up as A version of character GoodTimesWithScar from There Are Monsters Nearby by @uhohbestie on ao3!! Definitely check it out if you like apocalypse aus and desert duo angst!! Their writing is incredible and I wanted to cosplay Scar so badly and I finally got to do just that!

This was quickly thrown together as I had been busy all day for Halloween and didn't get to spend too much time on it but I think it turned out alright! I also had fun making the bracelet from the trio! Hope you like it as well :)

at long last, i can finally post this...

As a thank you to both Lock and Key ( @uhohbestie ) and to celebrate the first year anniversary of their fic There are Monsters Nearby , a few fans of the series + on the discord came together to draw something from the different arcs of the fic and I got Arc 2.

Initially I was going to choose something a lot more lighthearted and yet...the opportunity to draw Quackity getting dragged into the horde of zombies presented itself and I could not refuse. (If you're an old time fan of mine, you might see a small easter egg in the form of a moon shaped mole on Q.)

Thank you Lock and Key for creating such an amazing fic series + community and I can't wait to see what you guys make next <3

Ok, so. Since we’re not getting an update this week, I’d like to use this opportunity to ask you guys a question. I know TAMN is mostly character-focused, meaning we mostly get to watch the detailed unfolding personalities of Scar and Grian. However, since this is a zombie apocalypse AU, do you guys ever plan to explain the zombie virus and how it came to be, or at least mention how other places in the world got affected? I personally love it when stories give explanations like this, so I was wondering if you guys ever at least entertained the idea. Thanks!

This is such a good ask, and the short answer is: yes!!

TAMN is kind of specific, in that it's a zombie apocalypse focused on people who aren't at the epicentre of any major outbreaks, and who ultimately will never know much about what's going on at a larger scale. When we watched TLoU, the parts I always pointed out to Key were the scenes of people walking along abandoned roads in the middle of nowhere, and the two have us have always dreamt about writing a road trip fic together, so this is kind of the culmination/combination of that.

That being said! TAMN does exist within a world we've fleshed out, so we know/can keep in mind what's going on in the background globally while Scar and Grian walk miserably through the desert together. We don't want to spoil too much, because we have plans for shorter one-off fics that will flesh those parts out, but I guess one hint we can give is that TAMN references a lot of established mcyt servers and series. If you where to look......

Key chiming in to basically second everything Lock already said LMAO Originally, we hadn't planned to go into detail about the greater worldbuilding involving the origins of the virus and/or the spread of it, because we meant to focus on Scar and Grian and they just wouldn't ever find out. (At least within the scope of our story itself.) Since Scar and Grian aren't going around looking for a cure or a reason why the outbreak happened, and are just trying to make it from one day to the next, the wider scope of the world's situation simply doesn't fit within the context of their stories in the time frame we're writing. THAT SAID, since we, personally, DO know all those little details, there's absolutely material there to share. Thanks to all the support and love we've gotten for TAMN, it's really made Lock and I consider writing side fics for things happening outside of Scar and Grian's frame of experience! :D One of those things is absolutely the initial outbreak itself!

Just like Lock already said though, a big part of TAMN is Lock and I making an amalgamation of all our favourite MCYT (and MCYT adjacent) series, so... a lot of our inspiration and starting points are just a hop and skip away... ;)
