Hey, I’m still a minor but I’ve been really stressing about this lately. I really want to know if aromantic is the right label for me, since I previously identified as a bisexual.

I’ve, like, NEVER had a crush. I want to. I love romance novels, couples, the idea of romance. But then I talked to my friends and family and realized that what I thought was a crush just…wasn’t.

I didn’t feel butterflies, or nervous, or ANYTHING. I genuinely thought butterflies in your stomach was something that people made up, like getting nosebleeds when something is sexually implicit or shirtless ppl r shown (stupid, I know, but heteronormativity is really ingrained in me). I wasn’t even INTERESTED in the person. Examples, if it would help: first grade, I saw pretty boy, tried to play with him and followed him around at recess, looking back I just wanted a friend and he just happened to be attractive. Third grade, saw pretty boy, literally did not interact with him nor did I want to, but called him my crush bc I thought finding someone attractive=crush. My friend got with him, I wasn’t heartbroken and even tried to set them up and tried to tell them of the other’s feelings (despite the two of them being aware) like I was a little Cupid. Third grade pt 2, saw second most pretty boy imo (notice a theme here?) had dreams of both of my third grade crushes saving me from monkeys and I was a princess and they were in knight armor until the end where they’d take off the helmet n kiss me, but I had to consciously change the face after my friend got w the guy bc I felt bad. BUT I NEVER TALKED TO EITHER OF THEM????? Like, with pretty boy 3, let’s call him C, I didn’t really talk or try to get close with him or even was interested in him, same w the previous two. I thought I had fictional crushes on both boys and girls (hence the bisexuality identification) only to realize finding someone attractive=/= having a crush. And now I’m so confused and devastated????????

I am interested in both romance and sex, but I just don’t have crushes??? I know that, most likely, there is nothing wrong with me, like rationally, but I don’t feel that way???? I’ve always wanted a wedding n kids, but I’ve never imagined it with another person, like having a wedding n there being my partner. I always imagined going solo in my beautiful dress, never stopping to consider that a partner would be there. I also think I want kids, but that might be my parent’s pressures talking. My dad has also said that “there’s only one natural orientation” and says there’s nothing wrong with having a crush (I don’t think he realizes that I genuinely never had a crush) so I’m also really upset on that part. All I want to do is fit in socially, to make my parents happy, to do what I love, and have someone to love. I’m upset and confused and I took a quiz, twice, got cupioromantic, searched up the definition, realized it was me, got scared, so I’m just fishing for validation at this point. I hope I’m at least grey romantic, because I WANT to have romance, and be happy with one person. I don’t want to be a single cat lady (no hate if that’s you, keep slaying). I want someone to love me, and I’m scared that I won’t be able to love them back.

So, I have a few thoughts after reading this, and I'm just gonna do my best to lay out some of them

All that introductory section about never having had a crush? Absolutely classic aromantic life story. Completely the sort of thing where if someone told me that IRL, my immediate thoughts would be "oh, they're probably aromantic", and "I want to let them know we're community in some fashion, and I get it."

Secondarily, on the note of finding someone attractive: folks so frequently discover their a-spec identities by starting with "I'm equally or similarly attracted to all genders, so I must be bi/pan/etc", and then get hit by the phenomena that 0=0. Also, aesthetic and sexual attraction are typically experienced quite differently - despite not being talked about as such, usually because it's not socially acceptable to talk about sex except when shaming others for interacting with the concept from any angle, including not wanting it. Yay society! (/sarcasm)

Next: yeah, cupioromantic absolutely fits what you've described so far. But I have some news for you: you can be aromantic and still have a wonderful, healthy romantic relationship with others. Some of the very, very early first followers of this blog - and i'm talking first 30 out of over 10k - have openly talked about being married as aro people to alloros for longer than I've run this blog. It's possible, it's been done, and if that works for you and any future partners, fantastic!

But. That said, I don't get the impression that your approach to this is coming from a place of necessarily wanting romance? I could absolutely be projecting, and that's on me, but between what your dad said and the desperation in your message, I have to wonder if what you want is a close, healthy relationship where you are able to feel safe discussing yourself, where you feel like your emotions are validated, and you can engage in a kind and mutually open hearted way. And y'know? Especially as a minor, that can be so hard to handle. You deserve to be listened to, for your feelings to be validated, and to know that who you are is as natural as anything.

Side note. natural is such a cop-out word. Speaking as someone in a multidisciplinary STEM field: natural means it happens. Not 'is the norm', not 'comes from plants', not 'works exactly the same way every time'. Consider the platypus is a natural creature, despite being a wild abomination of every 'normal' trait it could fit in its weird little body. Consider that even in humans, sex is not a dichotomy and for the most part, sex is a socially defined set of characteristics. Consider how many birds and fish have 4 or more sexes. Consider the fungi, weep, and learn that defining them by sex is an absolute nightmare of thousands of possible sexes and matches and honestly, what even??? Consider that even if we only look at similarly sexed creatures to us, dolphins, penguins, so many birds, octopuses, dogs, spiders, cats, and more that I can't name in the literal 10 seconds I spent on that list, engage in clear same-sex sexual and romantic bonding. You ever seen a boy dog just jump anything that exists? I don't think Fido gives a shit about "natural orientations". Unless he can eat it and poop it out, and eat that. (/affectionate)

Some final thoughts: you will be okay. Being a minor is so incredibly hard, and the more you grow into adulthood, the more clear it becomes that literally everyone is following all sorts of rules that they learned once upon a time because it's hard to change the system, hard to change your thoughts, and not because it ever made sense to follow those rules. The idea that two people have to love the same way to enjoy each other is bullshit. The idea that you can't just experience all sorts of weird things, even though the human brain is among the most complicated things known to science and does so much we'll never live to know, is wild.

You will be okay. Everything will get better, and I believe you. Teen years are a lovely blend of the worst and best decisions you'll ever make because your brain and body are doing some phenomenally complicated things, and society said "hey, what if we shove all of them into an institution because labor laws say we can't put them in the mines anymore?", and this is understandably a really terrible idea. Promise you, the tigers and lions in the average zoo get better enrichment than teens seem to be allowed.

The longer you have to experience the world and its weird and inconsistent ways, the more you learn to just... be. You don't have to question it every step of the way. Maybe you do get a crush. Maybe you don't. Maybe you find yourself being visited by the cat adoption fairy, and oops, there's another, and suddenly there's several creatures who bring you warmth - and maybe being a crazy cat lady is for you. Adulthood is weird, just to be honest. This has actually happened to several people I know. So many "oops I have a cat now? help?" messages.

How did you find Paganism?

I don't know if I identify with the word "pagan" the way other ppl do. It makes me think of Wicca, which I don't practice. But I guess it started with Catholicism. I was raised non-practicing Catholic, but I always went to church with my grandmother when I'd visit her. And I loved it because country Catholicism in the U.S. Deep South is like doing a ritual. It's not the obligational, dry Catholicism of the "city" (my city had 50,000 ppl lol). It was magical. The people there also believed you had to eat black eyed peas and cabbage or pot liquor for dinner on New Year's Eve. And you had to have your whole house clean before New Year's. And hold your breath as you pass a cemetery. And they spoke of Marie Laveau and the Yazoo Witch in quiet, awed whispers. These weren't great times in my life, but I loved the old tales and the forests I ran around in by myself for hours.

As I grew up, I realized it wasn't the specific god being worshipped in Catholicism that interested me, but the solemnity and beauty of the connection and the marriage of ritual, belief, and history. So I started spending more time in the woods and fields, talking to the spirits, the fairies, and the trees.

That was all squashed, of course, as I was growing up, but it's been nice to rediscover it over the last few years.

How long have you been practicing?

Hm... Probably from ages 2-14, then again over the last few years. Though some of those traditions never really left me, haha.

Are you out of the broom closet?

I...honestly kind of hate this term. I don't know why! Of course, if someone uses it, it's their own thing and that's ok. My beliefs and practices are private outside of this blog.

Agnostic pantheism. It's expressed outwardly as a mix of Hellenic polytheism (revivalist), Shinto-Buddhism, science, and nature. (I do not talk about the Shinto-Buddhism parts on my blog because I am not Japanese and I feel it would be appropriative. I generally keep those things private.)

I don't actually subscribe to this concept.

No. I generally disregard the "evil" or "darkness" ascribed to certain gods, or choose not to work with them. The world has enough negativity in it. Humans are capable of enough evil without godly intervention.

No, but see my answer to "How did you find Paganism?" I consider Jesus to be an example of good and how doing good can be its own reward. Take care of the poor, feed the hungry, clothe the cold. Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you... These are core things I believe.

Not exactly. But I do think everything has a certain energy or life force or spirit. And as a kid, I used to wander the woods alone for hours to commune with them.

Do you regularly commune with nature?

Not often because living in NYC makes it hard to find nature to commune with. On a recent trip, I found that I still really enjoy being in the forests and on the sea. I love the calm beauty of nature just existing. With no other purpose, no rush. Everything happening when it should, no sooner or later. 

Taken a camping trip just to talk to nature?

I went camping all the time as a kid and probably didn't realize this was why I loved it. I haven't been in a long time.

Describe the moment you felt closest to Mother Earth?

(When I was a kid, around 10 years old.) 

Standing in the middle of a forest in Mississippi, surrounded by green and brown and the smell of pine trees. The ground feels "old" and solid in a way other places don't. It vibrates with energy and certainty. The air is filled with the chattering of birds feeding and squirrels scolding each other. The forest is quiet-loud. I'd pet the wild king snakes and anoles. Climb a big tree and sit in the branches, becoming part of the rhythm of the forest until the animals no longer noticed that I didn't belong there and they'd come out of hiding: raccoons, rabbits, foxes, whole families of deer. I was able to identify every plant, every sound, every smell, even if I didn't have a name for it at the time. I was alone, but never felt lonely. I didn't go home until the cicadas started singing, the mosquitoes started biting, and it was almost too dark to see.

Do you have a familiar?

No, not really. But butterflies tend to come up for me a lot.

Have you ever called upon the powers of an animal in ritual? Or a plant?

No, I do this more organically/innately. It's ingrained in a way I don't notice I'm doing it. For example, if I have to kill a spider in my house (can't get it outside), I apologize to it and try to make its death as painless and instant as possible. I thank animals I eat for their life which will continue supporting mine. Their energy, becoming part of me, means we are now part of something bigger, together. (If I could be vegetarian, I would. It's not an option for me, unfortunately.)

Do you hug trees?

No, but I spent a lot of time sitting in th when I was younger. I do say hi to them when I pass them on the street. I had some big oak trees in my backyard when I was 3 and I loved to talk to them for hours.

Give them gifts?

Not really. As a kid I used to leave daisy chains on their above-ground roots for any fairies or spirits living there, though.

What are your favorite plants to work with?

I don't necessarily work with plants directly. Though I use cayenne pepper, garlic, and sage (all from the spice section at the grocery store), along with honey, to create meals that soothe some of my chronic illnesses. I use tea tree oil and eucalyptus for pain. I'm also particularly drawn to cosmos, chrysanthemums, and irises.

What is your favorite holiday?

New Year's!

What is your least favorite holiday?

The 4th of July.

Have you ever held a ritual on a holiday?

I help my wife prepare things for Day of the Dead. I clean the house before New Year's. And we go to see the first sunrise of the near year together.

No, but my favorite/main holiday is conveniently already a national holiday.

favorite thing about them: 

her goofy/upbeat personality! she’s got so much chaotic energy (she’s the definition of a goblin tbh) & just having her in a little bit of ‘tower of swallows’ & ‘lady of the lake’ made the books such a joy to read. from calling milva and regis auntie & uncle, to her loyalty to the hansa (she was the youngest of the hansa but still chose to go to castle stygga despite the risks), to her more complex side involving her issues w/ abandonment, she’s just a very interesting character & i thank sapkowski for making her so realistic. characters that are playful/funny/comedic relief with a dark or unhappy past are usually my faves & angouleme is no exception. 

the fact that her life up until the hansa had been so shitty & awful, but she still chose to be funny & teasing & so full of life... like sure, i’m sure some of it was fake or an ingrained defense mechanism (bc if ur the ‘funny’ one then no one will think of u as a threat, rt? meaning u can be at an advantage if u decide to attack or, simply, it allows u to not be targeted by violence in general), but i also think she enjoyed her time w/ the hansa--that it was probably the most fun she had ever had w/ a group of ppl. & also the first time she really felt like she had found a family, a place in the shape of people that she could call a home... & mean it with all her heart. 

tbh her & regis are my faves out of the hansa & it’s a shame she isn’t featured in any of the games or at least mentioned bc i know that she’d be a v popular character if she had been.

angouleme/milva!! their dynamic is /so/ good. i live for found family tropes & milva acting as an older sister to angouleme is just everything 2 me. i like to think that milva taught angouleme how to use a bow & hunt & kept an eye on her in the midst of battle bc angouleme is so /young/ & up until the hansa, she’s been on her own. milva probably saw a lot of angouleme in her headstrong younger self & wanted to be the adult/friend/family member that she needed when she was angouleme’s age ;v; 

i wish angouleme & ciri had been able to get to know each other.... they’re both spunky kids around the same age who look alike. like can u /imagine/ the shenanigans they’d have gotten into? i could see them getting along immediately (& teaming up on teasing geralt lol) & pulling lil harmless pranks on the hansa. 10/10 good dynamic 

i also like angouleme/regis bc regis is someone who i think would understand where angouleme is coming from the most tbh. they both had less than stellar ‘rebellious’ phases. angouleme, after escaping from the abusive orphanage w/ some of the other kids before ultimately joining an even worse thieves’ guild vs. regis who basically lead his own plasma gang after developing an addiction to blood & promptly got his ass handed to him by some rando villagers w/ pitchforks. anyway, that aside, regis is all for redemption arcs & after really getting to know angouleme, he becomes enamored w/ the idea of passing down whatever ‘wisdom’ he can abt addiction (esp since it’s implied that she might be addicted or at least dependent on fisstech to some degree), fighting, making alcohol, vampires, etc., so that she’s prepared for /anything/. tldr; angouleme as a protege to regis? good stuff rt there

Now that we know how they react with Kara getting hurt any head cannons on how the kids act when Lena gets hurt or is in danger? Do they have any concept of how many threats arise because of her family name or has enough time passed since Lex that it's just a bad memory?

so like??  if u think the kiddos react poorly when its kara that’s hurt, i need ya to remember that they’re still pretty confident that kara will always walk away from a fight in one piece.  like she might get hurt??  but they (perhaps a lil naively) dont think that kara’s rlly ever going to be Hurt.  like they’re terrified in the moment, but it doesn’t like??  stick i guess??  i guess it’s sort of like…….she’s a superhero, danger sort of comes with it and kara’s careful and she’s like???  invincible??  one time stella gets rlly scared for her, so maia gets the idea to prove that they cant get hurt and bends like all of the kitchen knives trying to stab her hand so like…thats what’s in the kiddos’ heads when kara goes off to save the city/world.  bent kitchen knives and stella’s laughter and maia’s grin and finn rolling his eyes but going alone with it, holding his hand over open flame to prove he can’t get burned

but lena??  lena is terrifyingly human.  lena can burn and bruise and bleed and each kiddo has their own relationship to that, like finn cries and frets and maia seethes and rages and stella worries and plans (mind u, stella probably is the most……not ok with it, but she’s the most comfortable with lena’s vulnerability if only bc she’s just as vulnerable, often has a similar target on her back from lex/lillian bc she’s the most easily hurt of the kiddos??)

god they dont handle lena being in danger well At All and they handle her being hurt even worse, bc like??  she doesn’t heal as fast as kara, she heals at a human rate and there’s no magic sun lamp to make her all better

like when the kiddos are p young (like finn’s eleven or so) lena gets in a minor car accident and breaks her wrist and they all sort of freak the fuck out and that first day after she’s released from the er, she’s taking pain killers and is sort of just lazing around and taking it easy and the kiddos wont leave her side, like kara runs out to pick up dinner and the kids r sort of hovering around lena, pretending like theyre doing their own things, but when she comes back, they’ve all just cuddled up to her on the couch and maia’s carefully painting the nails on lena’s injured hand and stella’s fallen asleep on lena’s lap and finn’s tucked up against lena’s good side and they dont rlly move for the rest of the night tbh

i would say they have a p good grasp of the sort of threats against lena, like they grew up knowing how to behave in panic rooms and learned several emergency drills as part of their routine and saw lena hurt, threatened more times than they’d ever like to remember.  they react as well as can be expected from kids in that sort of situation, and it helps a lot that their moms r so good and rlly work to make sure they feel safe as much as possible and try and assure them as best they can

but like??  they’re all so protective of lena, they rlly are, and unfortunately they have good reason to be.  she’s on several ppl’s shit list tbh, and there are a fair few attempts on her life within the kids’ memories, like stella was there for several just bc she generally spends more time around lena and every single time resulted in her refusing to leave lena’s side for weeks after the fact.  she just Will Not, like when she’s older and has to go to school, she is just constantly texting lena and like normally lena would tell her to stop, she needs to pay attention in class, but she also saw stella all but wailing in kara’s arms when lena got loaded into the ambulance so maybe she writes a note for stella’s teachers asking that they excuse her texting for a couple weeks

finn like…..idk its not like he feels like As the Man of the House he needs to protect all the girls in his life bc thats ridiculous and ignores their agency and his mamas raised him right, but he grew up watching kara protect their family, their city, the earth and he carries those instincts rlly deep in him and like he worries abt everyone, he’s such a worrier, but its different for maia and for kara and its even different for stella, bc stella at least has powers, can sense things, but lena is???  completely human????  

and the first time he’s fully aware of this is when he’s three and his little sister is still so small and round and giggly and he had a stomach ache so lena calls out from work, tells jess to push her meetings so she can stay home and she’s put maia down for a nap and is coming in to check on him when he hears her scream from down the hall and like??  u know how little kids dont necessarily know when bad shits going down, but they Know??  well he knows.  

so finn forgets all abt how his tummy hurts and runs as fast as he can and he’s rounding the hall just as kara barrels through a window, shoves him into the bathroom and pulls the door closed, but he saw lena on the floor, face twisted in pain with blood at her temple, oozing sluggishly from her shoulder and down her arm, saw the masked man that stood over her

he doesnt rlly ever forget that.  the memory fades a little, dulls over time, but he has a lot of nightmares abt it, can’t completely put it behind him bc it was the first time he realized his mommy wasnt the same as his mama, wasnt as strong, wasnt as safe

it’s rlly bad for almost half a year after that, like he has nightmares more often than he doesnt and ends up in kara and lena’s bed most nights after waking up sobbing

when he gets older he sort of??  he doesn’t outgrow that bone deep fear, but it gets channeled into different avenues i guess

the first time maia ever has to confront that shit, she’s eight and its the assassination attempt from sun is gonna shine above and she’s never??  realized???  like she saw lena with a broken wrist and she’s seen her sick and so on and so forth so she’s got a grasp on the fact that lena’s human, not quite so invulnerable, but she’s never rlly understood what the consequences of that might mean??  but then they’re all sprawled on the floor of the deo and finn’s wailing into kara’s arms abt how he thought they were dead and she looks at lena and she looks at stella and she looks at kara and she’s terrified suddenly and she starts to cry and it all becomes a blur after that but then it’s a couple weeks later and she’s finally processed a little and she sort of scares her moms bc she crawls into their bed one night very late and asks very seriously if lena’s going to die

and like???  shit what are you supposed to say when your eight year old asks if you’re going to die???  jesus, there was no chapter abt this in literally any parenting book either of them have ever read

they explain it as best they can, that there are some very bad people in the world and they dont like lena very much and sometimes they want to hurt lena, but kara’s quick to remind maia that they’re all very safe and that she and aunt alex and uncle james and everyone at the deo work rlly hard to make sure they all stay safe but maia’s sort of changed after that??

and like…..her anger isnt from this one flashpoint alone, but it is a launching point.  like??  her mom is so kind and loving and soft, why would anyone want to hurt her??  why should the world allow her to get hurt???  it’s not fair.  so maia gets angry and she stays angry and she takes it out on bad ppl that hurt her family, takes it out on bad ppl that try to hurt lena and the difference btwn how she reacts with kara and how she reacts with lena is that she never, never says a word of it to lena, she refuses, bc if she does that, she’s admitting she’s scared that lena’s going to get taken from them, she’s admitting that lena’s human, that she’s mortal, that she can bleed and die and maia’s not willing to admit that

stella is probably the kiddo that never rlly has the realization bc its so ingrained in her like and i dont mean this in a bad way but there’s this understanding that where kara and finn and maia are alike, stella and lena are alike and stella understands that she’s not as strong as her siblings so it makes sense that lena’s not as strong as them either, u know??  it doesnt come as a surprise or anything and her powers mean that the threats to her mother dont come as a surprise either, bc by the time she’s registered what those threats rlly mean, she’s already been living with the reality of them for years

and ive said this a bunch but stella responds by becoming lena’s shadow tbh, she just sticks even closer to her mom and freaks out when she can’t bc she feels rlly powerless???  she cant help kara, but that makes sense, bc stella’s not the same as kara??  but she’s like lena and she can’t help her either, so what good is she to anyone, what use is she, how does she deserve her mothers

and to be fair, most of these feelings arent hers alone, bc when she gets sad or angry or hurts, its a lot easier for her to sort of take on negative emotions from the rest of the world, so it sort of spirals but that is the reality of it, she’s sad and she’s scared and she refuses to let lena out of her sight every time lena gets threatened or hurt

1. How does your character think of their father? What do they hate and love about him? What influence - literal or imagined - did the father have?

He hates him, there’s no question about it. His father was drunk, absent, and verbally abusive, and a lot of 13′s issues and negative connotations about fatherhood stems from this man. Regardless of how he feels, his father did push him towards his own drinking problems and him running away on multiple accounts. If it weren’t for him, 13 would have never ran away and eventually become an android, which he really happens to enjoy being. Anyways, there’s nothing about him he loves lmao

2. Their mother? How do they think of her? What do they hate? Love? What influence - literal or imagined - did the mother have?

This man fucking loves his mom to death, he’d gladly fly back home to talk to her if it didn’t mean he’d have to reconcile with his other family. She was a very influential figure during his childhood. Because of her, he learned to be confident and well mannered to others when it’s required to be so. The only thing he really dislikes about her is the fact she stays with someone like his dad.

3. Brothers, sisters? Who do they like? Why? What do they despise about their siblings?

Ooooh boy, he’s got 7 older siblings lmao, he really…doesn’t like many of them at all. He’s neutral about his eldest brother, Eli, and he’s pretty close to his youngest older sister, Elizabeth. Eli mainly because he actually like, tried helping him out with the problems he had? He did participate in teasing 13 a lot, but he at least apologized afterwards and tried to make it up to him. Liz was actually NICE to him and brushed his hair, played with him and babysat him when it was needed. The others, he really just doesn’t like because they were awful to him and picked on him a lot. 13 would gladly get back in touch with Liz, and maybe Eli, he doesn’t care about the others.

4. What type of discipline was your character subjected to at home? Strict? Lenient?

Given the amount of kids they have, I feel like the family is kind of a mixture of strict and lenient, strict bc there’s a shit ton of kids and they don’t want any of them hurt or lost, but lenient where by the time 13′s born, they know how to handle him and they kinda let him do his own thing. Though they did get the ass smacking punishment though, from dad, another reason 13 hates him tbh, bc once 13 started getting older and his siblings started getting into their teens/adulthood he started being…left out of things so he acted out a lot for attention, which more or less resulted in him getting in trouble, so they started being strict with him when he got older.

5. Were they overprotected as a child? Sheltered?

Overprotected by his mother, certainly, but he did often wander away from the family, whether in their own backyard, or out in public, he really craved to be independent as a child bc his mother smothered him, his siblings always taunted him, but once he actually got that independence when he was older, he started getting really lonely so he began to act out so they’d notice him again.

6. Did they feel rejection or affection as a child?

HAHAHAHA OH BOY. It’s really complicated. While he was very annoyed with his siblings as a child, he definitely knew that they loved him, as well as his mother, but the more his father’s absence and neglect became apparent to him, and the teasing became more aggressive the more he began to feel like he was a an accident? His self doubt became very very more…present once his teens came around, so he often felt like he wasn’t supposed to be there, like he was just the scraps, extras, etc. He felt a lot of affection, of course, but for the most part he felt isolated and rejected a lot during his teens and a bit in his childhood.

7. What was the economic status of their family?

They were poor, not in poverty or anything, but enough where 13′s parents had to save money to pay for the house and food, and the kids had to share what they had with each other. So 13 basically got all the hand me downs, clothes, toys, school supplies, etc. He shared a room with his brothers, while his sisters had their own room, their folks had their own room, etc.

8. How does your character feel about religion?

His mother’s a very hardcore Chris///tian, not homophobic or any of that garbage by any means, bc two of her kids are gay/bi and hell yeah she’s gonna love and support them, but she did have praying before meals, crosses hanged in the house, and praying before bed time. While 13 did participate in all of that and was raised with that, he doesn’t practice the religion or anything. He feels indifferent about it, but he’s not ath///iest by any means.

He honestly doesn’t fuckin care, he’d rather stay away from politics as far as possible. BUT HE’S NOT A TR//////////////////MP SUPPORTER, YEA IVE SEEN PPL SAY HE IS AND I JUST????????? NO FUCK U HE’S NOT A DICKBAG LIKE U. anyways, nah, he ain’t a politics guy, bye

Despite his upbringing and the environment he lived in, he’s actually pretty smart and very observant. He’s smart enough where he COULD have had a career in architecture if he actually graduated highschool, so that’s something. He just kind of…plays with how people will assume he’s dumb bc of his whole redneck stereotype, he’ll use that to his advantage so ppl are caught offguard by actually how well planned he is?

11. How do they see themselves: as smart, as intelligent, uneducated?

He knows he can do a lot better, he knows hes capable of doing much greater things than drinking around and generally just, being homeless and lazy but he just, sees no point in doing it if he’s just gonna be seen as an asshole his entire life, which was the mindset that got him into being an android, and honestly, after becoming a cyborg he’s done a lot better than before?? he’s waaay more confident, etc. Being a cyborg is everything to him.

12. How does their education and intelligence – or lack thereof - reflect in their speech pattern, vocabulary, and pronunciations?

It would depend I guess. Uh, I mean 13′s pretty good at coming up with solutions to things and he’s pretty good at calculating someone’s habits and patterns in battle, so i’d say his intelligence would really shine through then, but again, he kind of restrains himself so people would think he’s one of those big, tough, stupid rednecks before he outsmarts them and walks away the winner.

13. Did they like school? Teachers? Schoolmates?

As a kid, he kinda did, I mean before his teenager years he was the sweetest fuckin kid ever? he was really sensitive and shy and quiet but boy did he love learning, the teachers loved him, he didnt have too many friends tho. When he got older, when he got in his ‘acting out for attention’ phase, he was loud, distracting, he ditched class and often was the kid to talk back to the teacher, so he didn’t have too many friends either. The teachers didn’t like him too much, his schoolmates just kinda….dismissed him as the weird redneck kid, so he didn’t really like that much either.

As a kid, he played the fiddle in his music class, other than that he didn’t really do clubs or anything, he wasn’t in highschool that much either to really sign up for clubs or sports.

He honestly just feels it like an obligation, he does kind….of feel weird that he’s straight up killing someone, but it’s his job and he’s gonna do it. He just hates having to fucking travel everywhere just to find this guy.

Yeah, he’s traveled a lot, and considering he used to be from America, born an’ raised in Arkansas, he traveled and left the country for Gero to work on him, so he’s been to a lot of places. He doesn’t like it though, too much worrying about directions.

I mean, it’s because of him traveling, in a technical stance, that he ended up finding Seven and activating her so???? he found a family :”) lmAO but he ended up actually finding a new life for himself and while he may not??? ever ever EVER say it, he does consider the androids a kind of new family, specifically 14 15 and 7 bc they actually??? tolerate him and he appreciates that.

Going from what he’s said in his movie, he honestly thinks??? Humans are pretty shitty, they cause a lot of pain and hatred, etc, etc. He used to think that they were hot shit ‘cause they accomplished a lot of cool things? But while traveling he saw that there are still places where people are still treated horribly?? And when finding out about how 7 was turned into a cyborg, he found out about how terrible Gero really is?? So honestly, he’s disgusted by the horrible capabilities that humanity has.

None, probably, idk.

he’s oddly…civilized, mostly because his mother’s morals and all that stuff about manners is so ingrained into his memory that it’s pretty much habitual for him to be so polite when he firsts introduces himself, but at the same time he gets extremely cocky to the point where he gets carried away and he comes off as really brash and rude. anyways, he doesn’t like the whole hero schtick and just, hates people who generally believe in things that don’t logically make sense.

He had a couple childhood friends tbh, but he fell out of contact with them pretty damn hard. Honestly, the only actual friends he has is 14, 15, 7 and yes, I’m actually gonna consider Bojack his friend in a completely serious manner, even if they are acquaintances at this point in time, 13′s definitely considering him his friend. He doesn’t really have a type, just as long as they’re honest with him and respect him? Guy has a thing for redheads tho, so his ideal gf is just, be funny, be respectful, etc. He got his ideal gf lucky him

Sev!!! oh man, this guy loves her so much, she was??? so patient with him in the few years he was traveling with her, trying to help her adjust to the new world she missed in the 20 years she was deactivated after finding her in gero’s sub lab. he thinks she’s fucking hilarious and charming?? she’s smart, talented and just…she cares about him so much and it just, makes him feel really wanted and appreciated and he loves her so fuckin much aaaAAA, anyways 7 was the one to initiate everything :”) he decided to humor her and go along with her when she asked him out a few days after they fucked ( again she initiated ) and like, a month later he’s just ‘oh shit i think i love her??’

Words get to him a lot, he’s prone to quick anger when he actually let’s it get to him, he can be reckless and stupid sometimes, and he can get overconfident as well.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOY. he gonna be a dad soon/is a dad depending on when u read this. Okay, considering the mess that was his dad, 13 is really??? nervous, anxious and even scared to be a father bc he doesn’t want to end up like his dad did, so he jsut….kinda has a habit of avoiding his responsibilites. At the same time, he’s kinda…fascinated by the idea of having kids with sev bc he has another chance to really do something decent with his life, so he’s pretty damn mixed on the whole situation, but it’s his responsibility and he’s going to own up to it for once and actually be around for them.

he honestly just avoids his problems altogether, but he’s very very irritable when he’s stressed

oh man when he messes up it fucks with him, like subtly, he won’t really freak out physically and all at once, but it’ll stick with him for weeks and he won’t let it go for awhile until he finally manages to fix the problem just to get on with his life

super 13 gets off on it– nah but honestly, it kind of, makes him really uncomfortable bc it does vaguely remind him of how much he struggled growing up and this man hates being reminded of how weak he used to be
