synopsis. in which gojo wasn't the one sliced and diced.
wc. 550
tags. MAJOR JJK 236 SPOILERS, angst lol
gojo satoru had abandonment issues.
having lost his best friend and several close allies, loss had become a norm for him. it was expected. those who got close to gojo satoru died. his attachment was a death sentence. it wasn't a secret; he heard the whispers and saw those pitiful glances from sorcerers who only cared about their clan name, having never truly been forced to face curses head-on.
so he with all of this in mind, he couldn't understand why you stayed.
satoru had tried to push you away and keep you at arm's length, he really really had. but no matter how harsh his words were, how overwhelming he made his cursed energy, you still smiled and held out a bag of treats you'd bought him whilst he was away, or was the first one to offer any assistance with his students. even though he knew the latter scared you following the loss of haibara in your first year.
that was his first mistake: opening the door just enough that you could slowly slip your way in.
his second was letting you meet megumi. it was no secret that the spiky-haired boy wasn't fond of satoru or his parenting methods, but he did not expect him to be so welcoming of you. there were many a time satoru would come home after a day at the high school to megumi at the kitchen island with you helping him with his homework. or to the two of you in a blanket fort (he was especially jealous at this because how dare you make one without him) watching whatever film you could find.
by that point, you'd closed and locked the door, swallowing they key so satoru could never force you to leave.
it terrified him. there were no labels but he was hopelessly and irrevocably yours, there was no doubt about that.
you stuck around longer than anyone ever had before. so much so that satoru stopped having those nightmares - the ones where you died slowly in his arms because he was never enough to save the ones he loved - because you were by his side at every waking minute. he kid himself into believing that could last forever.
"don't cry." satoru can barely comprehend how you even have the energy to talk. it only further shattered him as your last words were to comfort him. as if though he were the one who had selfishly (yes, selfishly because how could you trade your life for his after knowing everything you meant to him) taken a hit not meant for them. as if though he was the one in literally two pieces.
he couldn't even do as you wish, the hot tears rolling down his cheeks creating streaks through the grime and blood that stained his porcelain skin. he wanted to apologise, to tell you that he loved you and that he could fix you, but it was like all of the air had been knocked from his lungs.
you had seconds left in you, and yet still, there was a ghost of a smile on your face as you stared up into the eyes of the man who held your heart so carefully. "i will never regret loving you gojo satoru."
satoru will always regret loving you.
a/n. it's never gojover. go avenge yn bbygirl xxx

7:04 p.m. and he still wasn’t home. You paced around the room—heard the pump in your chest get louder with the sound of the hands of the clock. There are tarts in the oven, but even keeping track of them no longer helps your nerves. You reached for a carafe and filled your glass with shaking hands. Drinking water would be helpful, but your hands couldn’t even lift your cup without the water inside of it violently splashing.
You inhaled.
“Don’t stay out too late, and be safe.” You tiptoed and kissed him on the cheek. He grinned, “I can’t keep you waiting. And,” he returned the kiss—chastely on your lips. “Don’t worry, I’m the strongest.”
You exhaled.
October 31. 7:00 p.m. He did keep you waiting. You were making a fresh batch of kikufuku that day with the television open for background noise. Satoru has always been hard at work, so you give him something to come home to: sweets. Your husband has always loved sweets.
Baking—a hobby that was once a mere fascination of yours, evolved into a ritual for good luck to bring your husband home. It never failed.
Until it was announced that Shibuya saw several casualties that day.
You inhaled again, desperately trying to slow down.
He came home nineteen days later. “Missed me?” You had much to say, but your sobs beat your words out of your mouth. “There, there, I’ll always come home to you.”
“For desserts?”
“For the sweetest thing in my life.” His aquamarine eyes are piercing. But in that moment, it’s as if the gaze he had on you held all the world’s love. It’s a look that can only exist when a man lays eyes at his home that he hasn’t come to in years.
You exhaled. Gojo Satoru can be late, but he’ll always find his way back home to you.
The sky was now a tapestry of blues, purples, and oranges. You reminisce how Satoru promised to take a break with you outside of Japan when everything blows over. You discussed the future, your shared plans—and he hopes to ride off to the sunset with you and your little family.
You’ve been too antsy, either from the anxiety of Shibuya or your hormones.
You finally reach for the water when the sound of your phone tips your glass off the table. It was a call from Shoko, you’ll deal with the broken glass later.
“It’s over,” before you could be given the chance to feel happiness, three words killed any hope for you to feel that way ever again.
“Satoru is dead.”
Note: am truly going to break down if it really is gojover.

It's really gojover.
What an ass of an ending.
*slow clap* Well done, Gege.
*pats* It's the one-year anniversary of Gojouover 💀
I was never expecting him to come back—though that first cliffhanger with Yuutajou definitely made me think that's one of the possibilities—but I was also not expecting the conspicuous lack of mentions of his death or the aftermath in the narrative, be it a funeral or a discussion of what the death of the strongest means in the current sociopolitical landscape (which has also only been addressed in an extremely clumsy, unconvincing manner).
That final conversation with Yuuji unruffled my feathers to a good degree in terms of personal reactions to Gojou's death. Let's be real—of the surviving characters, the only ones who actually care about Gojou as a person are Yuuji, Yuuta, and Shouko. Showing one of them remembering him fondly and carrying on his legacy, like he wanted, is a tender moment. At least we got that. I'd nearly given up hope after 268 and 270.
The gaping absence of his larger effect on the world and the plot still stands out like a sore thumb. But the ending chapters dropped the ball on so many things, especially regarding the narrative developments thus far and their consequences. I could make a list just off the top of my head, but...what's the point anymore?
#i love my anons#anon#jjk 271#jjk leaks#jjk spoilers#gojo satoru#there are isolated scenes or character moments i like but overall this is just...so underwhelming#not the worst ending i could've imagined thankfully#but mid at best#and nothing compared to what JJK has been and could've been as a narrative#jjk meta

"Don't interfere with Gojo's fight, you'll only be a burden" 🤡 anyways I think we all agree this was a terrible fight with a terribly executed ending. It feels like bad writing, with Gege unsealing Gojo and not knowing what to do with him having a bunch of characters waiting to progress and be developed. Just unnecessary, like what did the fight accomplish? Gojo straight up forgetting about Megumi and being like "oh nvm, i was never gonna win anywyay" just feels OOC.
One of the most anticipated fights in the whole manga and it was kinda trash. I hope the plot moves along now. Like you said, I want to see the students fighting Sukuna and Kenjaku, also give me the parent Kenjaku reveal moment with Yuji, Gege, and some KenJin flashbacks. Perhaps add in a little "Jin is actually alive". As compensation.
Also waiting on that Sukuna/Yuji fight. Please Gege let that one be good.
I don't know if it's because Gege lost passion for the story, but there would've been dozens of better options on how to do the fight besides "students sit on their ass and watch the live stream of their teacher's death". F in chat, guys! No, don't interfere, that would be too interesting and feel way too natural.
I really don't want to be this harsh, but everything since Gojo's unsealing has just been very questionable writing decisions. I like the Culling Game actually, I enjoyed it more than Shibuya, even when we were focusing on characters I didn't care as much about. It didn't have the constant threat of death I expected, but it was still good and I especially liked all the new lore and character exploration. Execution of Yuki's death was meh and there could've been done more with the fight, but it still moved me. Tsumiki turning out to be a piece of cardboard was my first real disappointment, but I could've looked past that if her and Yorozu's death would've been executed better. And after that it was just kinda...bad.
Angel agrees to unseal Gojo without explanation despite refusing to do that earlier. Backdoor has no drawbacks, Gojo is just out now. He's kinda weird post-Prison Realm and definitely different from before with changed priorities, but we don't get anything concrete about him or his time in containment that would give more depth to this. He just feels kinda detached. And then one month timeskip. I still remember when people said we would get flashbacks during the fight to explain what the characters were up to. But nope, nothing. Who knows if the main characters have an actual plan, Gojo definitely doesn't seem prepared. We get vague hints at Gojo using his time in the Prison Realm to adjust his domain, but we don't hear his perspective on that (would've been too interesting), we are just told about how he must feel by other characters. It's such basic things that could have made this fight more engaging and moving, but we barely get anything. On top of that it is stretched over 14 chapters and 4 months for no reason. Just make it hit harder from the beginning and shorten it that way. Kenjaku and Yuki were powerhouses and they didn't need this much time. Also the constant Gojover teasers got old very fast.
However, Gojo did manage to strip Sukuna off his domain and Mahoraga, so that will make things a little bit easier for the others. Sukuna can't just vaporize everyone with Malevolent Shrine anymore.
With the Kenjaku vs Gojo fight not happening, I am more confident though that we will get more focus on Kenjaku & Yuuji and explore their relationship and past. Feels like there will be more time dedicated to them, although that also depends on how Yuuji vs Sukuna goes. I am very excited for what's to come either way.
#sorry for the rant#Gege danced around Gojo's death for 4 months because they had no idea how to pull it off it's so silly#jjk spoilers#jjk leaks#jjk 236#asks

Flowers, Fight Scenes and Isolation: My Prediction for the Future (And Possible Ending) of Jujutsu Kaisen
Hi. So seeing this extra for volume 26 finally spurred me to articulate all of my thoughts on this subject in one place. Sorry for the length, but let me cook.
Here's the big idea: I believe that Gojo is in fact going to come back— but with a major catch.
Lets review the (mostly theme-based) evidence, shall we?
Firstly, throughout the entire series, we know that Gojo has been incredibly lonely, isolated at the top by Jujutsu society,
As summed up by this iconic panel, with just him, vast empty white space, and his title, the only thing that most people know him for/define him by, aka “the strongest.”
We also know that isolation played a big role in his mental state and thinking until his death, and is something that Gege made sure to reemphasize during his last moments in chapter 236.
In this conversation, Gojo expresses the gap he felt and also sets up the connected imagery of him and flowers.
(In addition, I feel as though it is also significant that the person he finally opens up to about his feelings on this isolation is Geto- more on that later).
Next, JJK is commonly nicknamed “jumpkaisen” as a joke by fans due to how often the characters team up against the villains. However, I think this pattern actually has more significance in the overall narrative than being a funny quirk.
Over the course of the series, we have seen all sorts of teamups between a wide variety of characters- like the widespread jumpkaisen nickname suggests, they are an iconic part of JJK's combat.
However, one character in particular is exempt from this trend- Gojo. (and also Sukuna but we’ll get into that later too.)
He is always fighting alone- as an adult, we never see him fight alongside anyone else the way that other characters do. Even the villains note this when planning their battle strategy:
This is is made especially clear in the final battle (especially with the contrast between the mostly solo Gojo v Sukuna fight and the absolute dogpile that is going on in the manga right now).
The only times we ever saw Gojo fighting alongside another person is with Geto in his youth. Geto is also the only person who didn’t him as “the strongest.” Instead, they were the strongest together, and that is reflected in how they fought together.
But then after everything in Hidden Inventory, Geto too starts to see that gap between him and Gojo.
This results in him leaving Gojo, thus permanently isolating him as “the strongest.” (See also the change from "we're the strongest" in the Hidden Inventory Arc to "I'm the Strongest" in JJK episode 2).
We never see him fight with another person after that.
Ok, so now let’s put these two points (Gojo's isolation and its connection to the fight scenes) to serve up a prediction.
I believe that Gojo is going to come back severely weakened to the point that he will finally have to (or be able to) fight WITH others- in particular, the students who he has made it his express mission to protect and nurture so they can go on to improve Jujutsu society.
This would be in sharp contrast to Sukuna, who has continually refused any chance or notion of love and connection, likely due to his belief that it is unattainable due to his strength.
(Serena on TikTok has an amazing and concise video on this topic- go watch it if you're interested in a better understanding)
I also think that this development would be a great way to show that Gojo HAS been successful in his goal to nurture a better future of Jujutsu- rather than the society isolating and systematically breaking students like it did Geto, the students are now all working together to defeat this insurmountable evil.
So, in conclusion, yes, Sukuna will in fact be defeated by the power of love and friendship (and a couple dozen or so black flashes), and it is NOT Gojover.
Also, here is some vital supplemental information (again from the amazing Serena) regarding the flower depicted on Gojo’s cover and the volume 26 extra.
I think the fact that Gojo compared himself to a flower in Chapter 236 as he died, and the fact that the flower in the supplemental (who he is clearly connected to via the cover art) hasn’t hit the ground yet is a very good (and more concrete) sign for his chances of returning.
Thank you for reading and sorry for the length! I would love to know your guys' thoughts on this theory and what you think will happen in the future of JJK! :)

hi!! omg i lovee your writing so much. i eat it up everytime. i was just wondering if you’re planning on writing reader’s reaction to the culling game arc (what happens to both tsumiki & megumi) that is if you plan to keep her alive before or after shibuya…….???
maybe this is the sadist in me but honestly i love the idea of her reaction to both of her children, whom she raised and knew so well, being toyed with right infront of her and seeing her “motherly rage” kick in.. or is that cringe??? pls😭😭
is this a safe space? cause i do have a confession. i haven’t finished reading the manga 😬😬😬😬 i got about 200 chapters in but im too scared to keep going… im a coward i admit it
i have seen all of the spoilers though don’t worry
nonetheless i feel like if reader was there the chaos that ensues after shibuya wouldn’t have ever happened because satoru would’ve been like “well they’re asking for me.”
“and you don’t find that slightly suspicious?”
he grins. “are you jealous? it’s okay that i’m so popular,” he shrugs, tying his blindfold around his eyes. “it comes with the talent.”
you roll your eyes. “you’re ridiculous. i mean, why would they want you?”
“i think that was offensive.”
“satoru. you’re not going alone. we don’t know who put that veil up, or what their plan is.”
“you do realize that i’m fully capable of… literally everything, right?”
you cross your arms. “i don’t care.”
“aw, are you worried about me?”
“i’m coming with you.”
“this is making me feel like there’s a bit of a power imbalance in our relationship.”
you push at his chest and open the door, smiling at him. “you just noticed?”
and then satoru doesn’t get sealed because reader isn’t as stupid (or as infatuated with suguru) as him.
but of course reader can’t control tsumiki or her teenage impulses, so…
yeah, there’s some things to be discussed. we’ll see how far i go with canon. tbh if they all “die” i doubt reader would… mm be okay? in any capacity? i mean, when satoru disappeared the first time she was struggling enough, so imagining all three of them being gone is…
sigh. it’s never gojover, let’s be real
#honestly completely evil to let any of that happen but it might be necessary#we’ll see#and you know reader is absolutely demolishing anyone who tries to touch megumi or tsumiki#literally feral#but#first we have to see if kusakabe is secretly the best sorcerer in the world#a typical family#gojo x reader

THE NEW CHAPTER! JUSR ONE MORE LEFT. 😭
when yn killed herself, I was so scared. Like first Promise and now Pi? But Yuuta, god bless his soul, is willing to sacrifice everything for her. The world for his Yn. And him protesting to not cremate her because she is afraid of fire 😔
I love the Greek mythology reference with the pomegranate, it all makes so much sense on why that title had been chosen! And the concept is amazing, I’ve never read anything like that before. The backstory was ✨✨
just hoping that Gojo also comes back… I need the siblings to reunite and him to walk her down the aisle when she gets older…
JUST ONE MORE 😫 i almost don’t even want to write it because that means everything will be over 😔 going to miss everyone so much
AHHH no i was def getting promise flashbacks during the scene where she dies but yuta the man that he is 💖 he gave up everything just to bring her back like that is LOVEEE OMFG they are so special to me 😢 and the line where he was upset abt her cremation is one of my favs from that chapter because it shows a) how much he cares abt her and b) how he really just wasn’t prepared to let her go
THANK YOU i was scared of the heian era flashback being a little too on the nose because yk…c*nnibalism…but i had wanted to do it since the scene with tullia drinking y/n’s blood and forming a contract with her in the same way that sukuna and heian y/n do. i def think that that’s part of what makes it unique though — most people would probably not touch on sukuna’s interesting eating habits let alone make it a reason for his defeat but i just thought it made more sense than anything because the man is a foodie first 💯
unfortunately it is truly gojover for pi gojo 😭💔 that man is not coming back

hi i’m here to expand on this theory actually because i’ve been wanting to articulate my thoughts on this for a while.
here’s the thing: i believe that Gojo is going to come back (and this volume extra only further supports that conclusion)— but with a catch.
Let’s go over the evidence, shall we?
(Sorry in advance, this will probably long, but let me cook)
Firstly, throughout the entire series, we know that Gojo has been incredibly lonely, isolated at the top by jujutsu society
as summed up in this iconic panel, with just him, vast empty white space, and his title, the only thing most people know him for/define him by, aka “the strongest.”
We also know that isolation played a big role in his mental state and thinking until his death, and is also something that Gege made sure to reemphasize during his last moments in chapter 236.
In this conversation, Gojo expresses the gap he felt and also sets up the connected imagery of him and flowers.
I feel as though it is also particularly significant that the person he finally opens up to about his feelings on this isolation is Geto.
Next, JJK is sometimes nicknamed “jumpkaisen” as a joke by fans due to how often the characters team up against the villains. However, I think this tendency actually has more significance in the overall narrative than a just a unique bit of flavor for the fights.
Over the course of the series, we have seen all sorts of teamups between a wide variety of characters- like the widespread jumpkaisen nickname suggests, it an iconic part of JJK's combat.
However, one character is particularly exempt from this trend- Gojo. (and also Sukuna but we’ll get into that later.)
He is always fighting alone- as an adult, we never see him fighting alongside other characters the way that other characters do- a fact that is made especially clear in the final battle (including the contrast between the Gojo v Sukuna 1 on 1 to the absolute dogpile that is going on in the manga right now).
The only times we ever saw Gojo fighting alongside another person is with Geto in his youth-
but after everything happens, he is permanently cut off.
Ok, so now let’s put these two points (his isolation and the fight trends) to serve up a prediction.
I believe that Gojo is going to come back severely weakened to the point that he will finally have to fight WITH others- in particular, the students who he has made it his express goal to protect and nurture so they can go on to improve jujutsu society.
This would be a sharp contrast to Sukuna, who has continually refused any chance or notion of love and connection, possibly due to his belief that it is unattainable due to his strength.
(Serena has an amazing video on this topic- go watch it for a better understanding)
I also think it would be a great way to show that Gojo HAS been successful in his goal to nurture a better future of jujutsu- rather than the society isolating and systematically breaking students like it did Geto, the students are now seen all working together.
So, in conclusion, yes, Sukuna will in fact be defeated by the power of love and friendship (and a couple dozen or so black flashes), and it is NOT Gojover.
Also, here is supplemental information (again from the amazing Serena) regarding the flower depicted on Gojo’s cover and the volume 26 extra.
I think the fact that Gojo compared himself to a flower in Chapter 236 as he died, and the fact that the flower in the supplemental (who he is clearly connected to via the cover) hasn’t hit the ground yet is a very good (and more concrete) sign for his chances of returning.
I would just like to point out that the flower from the volume 26 extras HASN’T HIT THE GROUND YET. GOJO FANS THIS IS HOW WE CAN STILL WIN!!!!
