Wakfu Human AU stuff I’ve been cooking up because I’m too lazy to draw it yet
(also yes I’m using their S2 iterations because THAT IS THE BEST SEASON + I hate S3 & 4 with a BURNING PASSION.)
Yugo and Adamaï are adopted fraternal twins, they live above their dad’s restaurant downtown and help him out with cooking. Yugo has a form of dwarfism and Ad is albino because dammit this is my AU I can do what I want. At this time they’re 12 / 13 and attending middle school. Also, they both have ADHD.
Yugo is big on Pokémon, Minecraft and MLP, and has a hat he literally never takes off in a Neurodivergent Kid kinda way (think Louise Belcher). Additionally, he has a pet budgie he’s crazy about.
Adamaï is a theatre kid (in a “I’m totally not projecting” kinda way) , and likes Transformers and Lego Ninjago. He also collects bracelets. You know what, I’m throwing in that he’s intersex because I can.
Amalia is 14 and a year away from highschool, she’s a big environmental activist and frequently drags her friends to rallies, and she has a decent social media following on Instragram where she essentially just vlogs. Her father is a politician and she comes from money, but she insisted on attending public school because she dislikes her status. She’s also a hardcore K-Pop stan because she WOULD (I’m not familiar with any bands but feel free to suggest any you think she’d like).
Tristepin is 17 and spent a year at military school, where he met a gruff dude a couple years older than him whom he now considers one of his best friends (Rubilax). He lives with his older cousin on his dad’s side, and boxes in his free time with coaching from said cousin (which is Goultard. by the way). Chronic shonen anime watcher…. he would SO eat up DBZ,, also a fan of combat related video games. He got held back a year in highschool and is dating Evangelyne.
Evangelyne is 18, has technically graduated and owns her own apartment. She does a ton of extracurriculars (figure skating, fencing, archery, tennis, creative writing, was on the debate team, etc.), and therefore was able to get into a really good college on a scholarship. She babysat Amalia when they were kids and Amalia’s family let her live with them for a few years when her dad left town. She regularly visits museums and adores the arts. Also a LOTR fan.
Ruel is OLD, an ex-rockstar / athlete / nepo baby and is absolutely LOADED, although now he just owns a pawnshop downtown and takes Yugo and Ad on fishing trips, where he gives them unwarranted advice about buying stock. He and Alibert are married for “tax benefits”, and co-parent the twins (I am a MASSIVE Rubert believer don’t @ me), although he’s still currently paying alimony to his ex-wife. He also owns an exotic, likely illegal pet and has gotten involved in more than one pyramid scheme.
Additionally, they all play DnD together and in this AU, the entirety of Wakfu is their custom DnD campaign (with Adamaï as the DM, ofc :3)
#ughh i love my goobers#also pinpin and eva smoke weed together idc#i will fight people on s2 being the best version of the brotherhood just so we’re all clear. like i am DYING on that hill 100%#t4t tristeva is also real now#so is lesbian amalia mwahahha#qilby is like a weird biological uncle or something idk. he comes around on christmas and gives yugo & ad encyclopedias#wakfu#wakfu au#the brotherhood of the tofu#tristepin percedal#yugo#adamai#evangelyne#amalia sheran sharm#ruel stroud#oh my god burger king employee eva (/ref) can be a real thing now i just squealed#ok i may need to post my headcanons about them at some point i fear my notes app can’t hold them all

Chapter One
Alexa’s POV
"Alexa. Hurry up or both of us are going to be late," I hear my dad yell from downstairs. Frantically I look at the time on my phone and scream. Oh shit we really are going to be late. I jump out of bed and get my clothes on. I find a random pair of pants and t-shirt and start scanning the room from left to right looking for my backpack, finally spotting what I was looking for under my clothes on the floor. I grab it and run down the stairs, grabbing a piece of toast from my dad and smiling as I ruffle his hair.
"Sorry, I couldn't find my backpack. Now we're waiting on you. Let's go old man," I say, giving him a teasing smile and making him raise his eyebrow, heading to the car.
Mornings are the only part of our days were we see each other, with him being a firefighter and all. So it's nice. Always my favorite way to start a day. I could easily drive myself, but then we wouldn't have this time together. Though, sometimes I would enjoy a morning to myself.
"Do you have practice? Need to know where I'm picking you up tonight. I'll be off early," he asks, starting the car and backing out of the driveway. I look at him confused. Grabbing my extra brush I hid in the car, I start to brush my hair.
"Yes, I do. So I guess that means to pick me up at the Ring. But why are you picking me up?" Usually I just walk or get a ride with Jayde, because dad is usually working. So it's weird that my dad is going to pick me up today. This can't be good.
"So we can go to the station for the job fair, silly," my dad replies, giving me a dorky smile. I give him a fake smile but roll my eyes. I love my dad and appreciate what he does for me and our town, but I just don't want to be in his field of work or anywhere near it… which he just doesn't understand.
"Okay, sounds good. I get done at about 5, is that too late or should I skip practice today?" I say unamused looking out the window. I think about how I will actually have to tell him and break his heart that I wanna go into Event Planning.
"No, that is fine. It's not too late, don't worry. Now have fun at school." Finally we made it to school. I lean over the console and give my dad a kiss on the cheek. Getting out of the car I make my way to the front and wave bye to my dad.
Walking into the school I head to my locker. Placing my books inside, I hear a bang next to me.
"Why does everyone like Tina? They need to get off her ass, she's a bitch," Chantel whines leaning against the locker next to mine. Laughing, I look across the hall at Tina who is twirling her hair and flirting with the football team.
"I don't know, but why do you care? You have your college boy. It's not like your man is over there with her" I say, turning back to my locker and away from Chantel with furrowed eyebrows, visibly disgusted.
"True, but my cousin is." Glancing back over to Tina who now has her hands in Chris's hair. Chris is the one guy every girl wants but no one can have no matter how hard anyone tries. I used to have the biggest crush on him, but I stopped trying a long time ago, unlike most.
"He doesn't look comfortable, poor guy," I say, which was mostly drowned out by the squeaky swing of my locker door as I closed it. Pulling out my phone, I check my messages and read a reminder from my coach about the hockey team that has practice in our rink, and will be there after our practice.
"Yeah, yeah, poor Chris. He's the dumbass that went over to her," Chantel snarled. "Anyway, can I go to the ring with you after school? I need a break from the fam and I can like, draw or do homework or something while you skate," Chantel asks, interlocking her arm with mine as we walk to the bathroom.
"Yeah, sure, but you can't really run away from the fam because your cousin and his friends have practice." I pause to focus on putting on my lipstick. "But we can't hangout after practice."
"Oh, Okay. But why not after?" She looks at me with curious eyes.
"Job fair at the station, so my dad is picking me up. I mean, we can hangout and you can come with us. Oh! That’s actually a great idea," I say with a wink and nudge her, making her giggle, secretly hoping she would want to and come save me.
"So I'm guessing you haven't talked to the old man about the apprenticeship? Or about RDSF? Or, I don't know, your real dreams?!" Chantel says giving a disappointed look, ignoring my question. But how do you tell your parents that you don't want to be like them and that you don't want to help people the way they do?
"How can I? He was so excited and happy about it, but I'll tell him after, don't worry. Who knows, it might even be fun. I could meet my future husband," I laugh finishing up a light layer of eyeshadow on my face. When I finish, I top it off with a wing liner and then some chapstick. Chantel and I head out to go to our classes which sadly, we do not share together. But I do share it with Chris and my other friend Kinsley.
"Well at least you have classes and practice so you don't have to think about it for a while." As we make our way down the hallway passing by some students, most waving at Chantel. Now, I'm not popular, but I do a lot of clubs and interview a lot of students because I’m in the yearbook. So I know everyone, I’m just not close with them, only Chantel and Kinsley. Chantel, though, is friends with everyone. We've been best friends since elementary. It's crazy to think that if we didn't meet then we probably wouldn't be friends now.
"I guess you're right," I nod in agreement. But then I started to worry about the job fair.
"Always remember that." Both of us giggle and are about to part ways to our first period. We see Chris make his way over alone for once, he's usually with his crew of hockey boys or some girl.
"Hey cuz, Alex," he smiles and nods at me with that beautiful smile as he walks into the classroom.
"Enjoy class with my annoying cousin. See you at lunch unless you have it with Kinsley today." Waving goodbye, I walk into class and take my seat. I love science and it’s my best subject so having it in the morning is pretty nice and makes getting up easier sometimes.
"Hello class, we will be discussing an upcoming group project. Before you get all excited, I have already chosen the pairs." Great, I never get someone I know or would like to work with. After Mrs. Ferguson named some students, I then heard my name. I look up waiting to see who I will be paired up with. To my surprise, I hear Chris's name right after mine being called. I look over to him already staring at me giving me a smile and an eyebrow raise. I just shake my head waiting for more instructions from the teacher.
“Okay, there are all your groups. Now, onto the whole project. You and your partner will find and collect 50 flowers each. I want you to write every detail about the flower, the animals around, and how fast it grows. Then you guys will have to present it to me and I’ll press them and put them in a journal.” Mrs Furgeson finishes off the last instructions to the assignment. As I write down the notes for the assignment, I hear a hiss and turn around to see Chris.
“So I guess we got to do this together. Can’t wait. I’ll get your information at the rink tonight.” I just nod my head and go back to writing my notes. But I hear a scoff coming from Tina next to me in front of Chris. I just wink at her and go back to my notes. The project seems to be easy, which is nice.
When the bell rings, I grab my bag and make my way to the door being the first one out. I didn't want to deal with Tina and her jealousy. I then head to my second period class. Before I make my way to Kinsley at our normal meeting spot, I feel a sharp pointed tap on my shoulder. I turn around to be greeted by the fakest smile.
"Alexa, I love your shirt today. It's so cute. Did you do something with your hair?” I hold in a laugh as I can see in Tina’s eyes that she is in pain talking to me right now. I roll my eyes, turning back around knowing that she'd throw a fit that I wasn't bothering to give her any more time out of my day… which I was correct, she did get upset. I felt her pull me back and sadly was facing her again. “Don't turn your back on me when I asked you a question, that's rude.”
I faked a smile, shrugging my shoulders as I looked her dead in the eyes. “And touching me without permission isn't? If I wanted to speak to you more, then I would. Though I don't want to. Why would I waste my time when I have class to get to?” The look on her face told me everything. Tina was pissed that I spoke back, that I wasn't giving in to her fakeness.
Watching Tina turn away and storm off made me snicker as I turned to go meet Kinsley at our spot before class, but now we wouldn't have much time left since the wicked witch of the west wanted to try and be nice and waste the time I did have. All because she was jealous of me, I'm sure.

yellowjackets headcanons dump!!!!!🐝
cuz these mfs are always buzzing around in my brain like the little bees that they are
• the yjs who got into the most shoving matches on the field are tai and shauna but nat talks the most shit just to rile the other team up lol. lottie also talks shit but in a real sassy way🙄
• jackie loves sweet foods but her mom never lets her eat them so whenever her and shauna go to the mall they sneak to get the biggest ice cream sundae known to man and share it :]
• van used to hold movie nights (at tai’s house) for the team and misty came once but she ate way too many skittles and threw up on the carpet and she wasn’t invited again after that😭
• lottie was a school transfer and didn’t have many friends at first which is why she joined the yellowjackets. the coach was crazy impressed with her skill and jackie started out really jealous and everyone was like ohhh we have a rivalry brewing!!! but jackie quickly came around and she was actually the one who started calling her lottie instead of charlotte
• van & nat were best friends as kids and lived in the same trailer park but when they were 14 vans mom moved to an apt and the two of them stopped hanging out and talking as much but they still have a bond with each other
• van and nat love the movie my cousin vinny and they still quote it all the time
• jackie was a HUGE fan of mia hamm and used to have a poster of her in her room but her mom got mad at her saying it wasn’t ladylike so jackie gave it to shauna but it’s been lying around shauna’s room ever since :[
• misty’s parents are rich doctors or something who are never home so she spends all her time either making super over the top collages of celebrity men or making a diary where she writes about literally everything and cuts out her yearbook and draws hearts around the boy she has a crush on. OR she’s up to some heinous shit researching crazy stuff. i just know she’s wayyyy too into serial killer info. and she’s prob dissected a frog or two in her time
• tai was the only one who was still able to enjoy soccer after the rescue. but i think van would’ve tried and maybe she still casually watched the uswnt until the 99’ers retired but after that she stopped watching.
• a lot of them turned vegetarian after they got rescued. i feel like nat’s vegetarian which is why she reacts like REALLY🙄 to misty when she eats beef jerky in s1 lol. lottie is absolutely vegan
• i like the hc people have that shauna’s jewish. jackie’s christian and she tries her best to celebrate shauna’s religious holidays w her but she always gets shit wrong but it’s the thought that counts right? nats definitely catholic but doesnt gaf
• lottie has a pet cat that she literally adores because it’s all she has to keep her company in her giant house cause her dad tells her not to talk to the maids :/
• nat can’t afford to buy her own guitar but kevyn lets her borrow his and he’s in the middle of teaching her how to play during the time she qualifies for nationals so the only song she knows how to play is come as you are by nirvana
• opposing teams HATE yj set pieces cause nat takes corners for the right side and tai and lottie are tall as fuck so they convert from corners a lottt >:)
• when shit got bad with nat or van’s family when they were younger they’d sneak out of their trailer windows and meet at a specific spot just to hang out and they’d talk all night or nat listens to her walkman and watches van practice tricks on her shitty beat up skateboard
• one time in the locker room nat’s putting a tape into her walkman and shauna notices and brings it up and they start chatting a little about their similar music taste for a minute until jackie appears and sweeps shauna away and nat’s just left there with her eyebrows raised cause she didn’t realize shauna was actually cool like that. LOL
• one day it was raining like crazy during practice and the field was muddy as fuck and tai accidentally slipped and got covered in mud. van’s crying laughing cause tai’s pissed about it until she slips and falls into the mud too. she ends up throwing some at the other girls for laughing at her and jackie gets hit and she’s like “oh so that’s how it’s gonna be huh?” and the next second everyone’s soaked and muddy and laughing and they all have to trudge back to the locker room afterwards and when they walk past coach scott he’s just shaking his head smiling

Where were you?
Summary: When Spencer doesn't turn up to his daughter's swim meet although she knows he's in town her world seems to crumble down around her.
genre: hurt/comfort
pairing: spencer reid & teen!daughter
_____
“Where were you?” “What do you mean where was I? You know that we were on a case.” The girl standing on top of the stairwell scoffed under her breath and shook her head. She had always thought her dad didn’t lie to her, but here she was catching him in a clear lie.
Her cousin Henry had texted her hours ago that his mom was home, which meant for whatever reason her dad was lying to her and had missed her swim meet for no good reason.
“Whatever”, the teen shrugged as she turned back around on the stairs that she had just come down to say hello to her dad. She thought maybe he had an explanation but no instead he lied without batting an eye, She didn’t want to talk to him anymore, and without saying another word she locked herself into her room. The damage was done and it hurt like hell.
She had actually come in first today, her coach had told her that she was on her way to the top and that scouts were going to show up soon. It was her coach who told her he was proud of her, not her dad like she had hoped. She had been so excited, hoping that maybe her dad had made it in time since she knew that the team was back in the city. But as she climbed out of the water and looked around there was no one up there watching her and now, when he finally had gotten home hours later, he just lied to her and didn’t even bother to ask about the meet.
She couldn’t stop the tears from falling at the sinking feeling that was spreading through her chest. She had felt lonely that whole weekend, he hadn’t called as much as usual and she had been all alone in their house because they had decided a little while ago that she didn’t need to stay with her aunt Penny anymore whenever her dad was on a case. She liked being independent like that but sometimes it just felt so, so lonely. And now her dad didn’t even come home to her when he got back to the city.
She was disappointed, confused, angry and sad all at the same time. Why didn’t he see how alone she felt? Why didn’t he care as much about her as she did about him? Her dad was the only person she had and now it felt like she was losing him too. That he didn't care like she thought he did.
A knock on her door made her jump. She lifted her head from the pillow she had been crying into and glared at the door. Fuck him, she thought to herself as his voice came through the door.
“I was going to order Pizza for dinner is that okay bug?” She felt her lips trembling at his oblivious voice. How did he call himself a profiler and how was he a genius? “I already had dinner", she called out, trying to make her voice sound steady. They had gotten Pizza with the team and parents after their meet and like most of the time, again she was the only one there who didn’t have a parent present which had stung even worse knowing that her dad was somewhere in the city, just not with her.
“Oh … okay what did you have?”, her dad asked confused after trying and failing to enter his daughter’s room. “What do you care?”, the girl now snarled through the door and Spencer Reid’s frown deepened. “What do you mean what do I care? I haven’t seen my baby in five days, I wanted to have dinner and spend some time with you", he said, both confused and worried about his daughter's behaviour. This wasn’t like his daughter, usually she loved spending time together whenever he got back.
That statement was it for the girl. Oh he wanted to spend time with her? What a load of bull-, she thought to herself. She jumped up from her bed and ripped the door open glaring up at her dad. Spencer looked at his daughter in shock, she had clearly been crying and looked visibly upset, but before he could question her she snarled: “That’s fucking rich coming from you!”
Spencer was taken aback, she had never spoken to him like that. “What..” “I know that you guys have been back for hours, okay? JJ got home to Henry hours ago! Long before my swim meet, okay? So don’t go pretending like you care about me when you didn’t even bother to come to watch or support me.", she spat out, furiously looking into her dad's eyes. The shoe didn't drop until a second later and she saw exactly when the realisation hit him and his face fell completely. That did not make her stop though.
"I was the only one whose parents weren’t there, the only one! Jessica’s dad paid for my dinner because you didn’t leave enough cash for me and I got in first place today! I fucking won for the first time and you weren’t there. You’re never there anymore and I’m always trying to be okay with it because I know your job’s important, I’m always telling myself that you want to be there, but today you could have been. You could have been there for me but you weren’t!”
Tears were streaming down the girl’s face now but she wasn't done. “Everything is more important to you than me! So don’t come up here and pretend like you care or that you want to spend time with me because it’s clear that you don’t!”, she screamed and shoved her dad, who only stood in front of her dumbly, away from her now.
“Bug...”, Spencer’s broken voice tried to say something, but she wasn’t having it. “Don’t call me that!”, she snapped at the use of her nickname and moved around him, starting to skip down the stairs. She couldn’t be here with him anymore. She needed to leave, so she slipped into her shoes and went for the front door.
When Spencer heard the front door unlock he finally snapped out of the shock that had frozen him in place a second before. “Fuck!”, he cursed and rushed after his daughter only to see the front door close and his daughter gone. “Matilda!”, he called after her, but she was already gone.
---
The teen didn’t even think about what she was doing or where she was going. Like on autopilot she suddenly found herself in an uber that was now pulling up to an apartment building. She thanked the driver and got out, staring up at the building and then down at her phone that was ringing with her dad’s call for the fifth time. Without thinking about it more, she turned it off and moved to the building, she was buzzed up and a minute later her aunt Emily opened up the door to her, looking at her full of worry.
“Matilda, what are you doing here? What happened? Are you okay?”, she pulled the teen into her apartment, looking her over. Her puffy eyes and red cheeks were clear signs of her crying. She looked distressed. Emily had only ever seen the girl like that a hand full of times whenever something had happened to Reid in the field so this was more than unusual.
“Can I stay here for a little bit?”, the teen asked timidly, looking up into the warm, dark eyes of her favourite aunt. “Of course honey, but please tell me what happened, does your dad know you're here? Are you okay?”, she said as she guided the girl to her sofa.
Matilda sat down and scurried into the corner, pulling her legs in and wrapping her arms around them, only then did she look over at Emily, who had sat down beside her and shook her head.
“No you’re not okay or no your dad doesn’t know you’re here Tilly? I need you to say something for me please.” “He doesn’t care anyways", she got out through a new wave of tears and with a trembling voice.
Emily sucked in the air sharply. “Oh Tilly, that’s not true, baby, come on, did you have a fight? What happened?”, Emily scooted closer and put a comforting hand around the girl’s back just as her phone started to ring with Reid’s number. “Don’t pick up please.” Emily looked between the girl’s pleading eyes and her phone and nodded before declining the call and focusing back on the girl. “Come here.”, she said and pulled her into her arms, letting the girl cry into her shoulder until she calmed down again, worrying deeply about what could have happened between her friend and his daughter to make her this upset.
“I’ve got you. I’m so glad you came here Tills. It’s okay", she repeated until the girl calmed down a little. “He doesn’t… He doesn’t even care about me anymore", she finally hiccuped out and Emily couldn’t but frown at the girl’s words. She knew that it couldn’t be easy on Matilda to have Spencer gone so often and she would have been lying had she not questioned whether her friend was doing the right thing in continuing to travel with the BAU, but Matilda was 16 now, she would have thought that this would have been an issue when she was younger, not now when she was so grown.
“Matilda, you know that’s not true, there’s nothing more important to Spencer than you.” But Matilda just shook her head. “He’s lying to me. He promised me he would never do that. And he doesn’t call as much anymore when you guys are gone and ..”, she hiccuped. “And he didn’t even come home today when you guys got back.”
That got Emily’s attention. She had noticed that Reid was acting differently recently, though she didn’t see it as negative differently, he had seemed happier, though Matilda’s last sentence made her frown. They had gotten back early today and she had sent them all home in the morning to enjoy the rest of their Sundays with their families. Where did Reid go if not to see his daughter?
“He didn’t?”, she questioned, making sure she heard correctly and Matilda just shook her head. “Henry told me that JJ was home... I had my swim meet today and I thought that... I thought that he’d be there because he was back but... He wasn’t. I was the only one without a parent there. I… I did so good, but no one was there for me.”, she got out in a broken voice and Emily’s heart ached for her niece.
It was so apparent how heartbrokenly disappointed and sad she was and now she felt bad herself. She didn’t show up for the girl nearly enough. She remembered her asking her to come to one of her meets one day but she always forgot to follow up on when they were. “Oh Matilda, I’m so sorry”, she just said and the girl shrugged. “I’m used to it, I promise I am, it’s okay but … I … I got my hopes up cause Henry said you guys were back”, she looked at her aunt through glossy eyes. “You were back right?”
Emily bit down on her lip, she knew lying would only make this worse now so she nodded carefully. “Why didn’t he come then Emmy?”, she asked desperately with those big, big teary eyes, gosh she looked so sad. “I don’t know Tilly. I’m so sorry you feel like that. I promise we all love and care about you so much baby”, Emily said and pressed a kiss on the girl's head as she hugged her tightly.
“Why didn’t he come Emmy”, she cried again and Emily’s heart threatened to burst with grief and a little anger too. “I don’t know baby. I’m so sorry. You can stay here with me, okay? It’s going to be okay. I promise we'll figure this out", she reassured the crying teen in her arms and continued rocking her. Only after a couple of minutes did the woman speak again. "I know you don't want me to but I need to tell your dad that you’re here with me.” “He doesn’t care anyways, he doesn’t deserve to know.”, Matilda spat and Emily nodded. “I know that’s how you feel bubs, but I need to tell him you’re safe, okay? I won’t let him come by, you’re okay.” Emily softly let go of the girl and got up to grab her phone when Matilda added. “Don’t fall for his stupid acting like he cares either. He’s a liar”, she scoffed and watched the woman leave the room.
“Prentiss?”, she answer the fourth of Spencer’s calls. “Emily! Fuck finally! Matilda is gone, I can’t reach Garcia, we need to track her phone right now, it’s turned off, I can’t reach her, we need to find her right now!”, he frantically almost shouted into the phone. “We don’t need to do any of that Reid. She’s with me.”, Emily said coldly and Spencer immediately froze in place. Relief washing over him.
“Oh fuck thank god, I’m coming over, I’m driving around anyways I’m there in 5, I…” “No.”, Emily interrupted him sternly. “What?” “You’re not coming over here, Reid. She’s upset and she doesn’t want to see you I promised her I won’t let you come by.” “Emily! What are you talking about, yes I’m coming by and getting my daughter!”, he exclaimed. “No Spencer! You’re lucky your daughter knows to come to me when she’s upset and in crisis, I am not risking that trust by letting you waltz in here, I think you have done enough.”
She could hear him sniffle through the phone now. “I didn’t mean to miss her meet. I didn’t … Gosh I am such an idiot.” “You’re right about that one. Genius and eidetic memory my ass. What were you thinking? Lying to her too? She has every right to be upset with you, hell even I feel bad for not showing up for her but at least I didn’t know about her swim meet! You’re the only family she has Spencer! She’s been alone for 5 days and you don’t rush home when we get back? What’s going on with you, seriously?!”, she accused and he didn’t have anything to say to that.
He knew his friend was right. “I … Just … tell her I’m sorry okay? And that I’m really proud of her for coming in first, I know she’s been … she’s been training for that a lot”, he got out through tears himself. “You tell her that yourself when I get you two together. She’s going to stay here tonight, I’ll bring her over to your house tomorrow morning before school so she can get her stuff and then we’ll see okay?” “Ye.. Yeah, of course.” “And Spencer?” “Yes?” “You better have a really good reason for all of this, your daughter is heartbroken and I’m blaming you personally. You need to fucking do better.”
Matilda had composed herself in the meantime and only got to listen to a few snippets of what Emily had to say to her dad. When the woman got back into the living room the teen was just wiping away the tears, suddenly embarrassed about taking it all to heart this badly. She was used to this, so so used to this that she didn’t understand why suddenly it hurt so bad. But then again. Did it not hurt the other times? Yeah it did, but at least then she could tell herself that he wanted to be there, she could blame the job, but this. This led her to question everything.
When Emily sat back down on the couch Matilda felt the need to apologise. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to just turn up here like that over this..”, “Hey, uh uh no you’re not apologising for feeling sad, you know you can always come to me, Matilda. I want you to know that you always have a place here, okay? I am really glad that you felt like you could come to me.”, she said sternly and pulled the girl into another hug. “And you don’t have to hide these tears either.”, she pointed out as she gently brushed her thumb over the girl’s cheeks. Matilda bit down on her lower lip and nodded.
“What did he say?”, she asked carefully. Emily sighed softly. “He was really worried about you. You know I’m on your side here but you know how scary it is for us if we don’t know where you guys are.”, she started and the teen nodded. “Yeah, I know. Sorry..” “You’re okay, he also said he was really sorry and I think he understands that he messed up.” “I just... I don’t get where he went... Did he say? Do you know ?” Emily shook her head. “I don’t know either, I’m sorry. I told him you were staying with me tonight and we were gonna go over tomorrow morning so that you can get your school stuff. We’ll have a paperwork day tomorrow so we’ll be off early. After school, you can either come here or go home and then we’ll sit down and talk about it okay?” “You’re gonna be there?”, the teen asked her aunt who nodded. “I’ll be there if you want me there.” “Yes please.” “Okay. You know I am sorry too.”
Matilda furrowed her brows. “For what?” “I haven’t been the best at showing up for you either. You’re so grown up and independent I think sometimes I forget that you’re still a kid too.” Matilda shrugged. “I … I just felt really alone recently”, she finally admitted. “I mean I can manage and I know Penny deserves to not have to look out for me but … sometimes I feel like I’m all alone and I worry about dad and you guys and it feels like nobody really cares.”
It was the first time that the girl admitted to this and it felt strangely relieving. “Matilda..”, Emily just said, at a loss for words. “God, we’re all really useless at our jobs aren’t we?” The girl shrugged. “You learn to mask when you grow up with Spencer Reid as your dad I guess.” “You shouldn’t feel like you have to mask though sweety. Why didn’t you say anything? You know Penelope would love to still have you over!” “I’m 16, and most people are jealous that I get to be on my own this much, I shouldn’t be so... So childish.” “Oh honey, there’s nothing childish about not wanting to be alone. Which you are not, you know that.” “Sometimes I… sometimes I wish it wasn’t just Dad and me, you know?”, she got teary-eyed. “Sometimes I just want a mom.”, she whispered and Emily pulled her into her embrace tightly. “Oh, honey… I know baby..”, she consoled and rocked the teenager softly.
There was nothing Emily could say to make that kind of heartbreak better, she knew that. Matilda never really talked about her mom and Spencer didn’t either. She wondered if the two of them ever did but going off of this conversation she doubted it. It sounded like the teenager had been dealing with a lot of stuff on her own for quite some time. “You know you can always call me right? I know it’s not the same but I love you like you were my own, know that baby okay?”, she whispered into the girl's ear and felt her nod against her neck.

There was one lake in Hawkins that she liked to go to in order to practice over the winter break, that lake was lover’s lake. Usually it was vacant except for some ice fishers but not this night. No, this night there was a boy who was skating around with a hockey stick. She had recognized him, the captain of the high school hockey team, Steve Harrington.
She went about her usual routine however, unbothered by the new presence around her. That was until she was hit square in the back with a hockey puck which sent her flying onto the ice.
“Oh my god! I’m so sorry! Are you okay?!” She heard his voice approaching her, panic lacing his tone.
“Holy shit that hurts! Goddamn Harrington! Do you have to hit that thing so hard?” She groaned out as she sat up, his hand reaching out to her to help her up to her feet, she gladly accepted and accepted the help.
“I’m so sorry! Are you okay?” He repeated, still panicking.
“I’m good, I’ve had worse but damn those things are hard as shit. Now I understand why so many hockey players are missing teeth.” This made Steve chuckle, tension leaving his shoulders at her foul language and realizations. “What are you doing on the ice on Christmas eve?” She asked him, rubbing the spot on her back gently.
“I could ask you the same thing. Coach wanted me to practice my slap shots, obviously they need work since I completely missed the goal and whacked you in the back,” Steve rambled.
“I need to practice my new skills before my next practice. My coach wants my routine to be perfect, said my skills were average at best.”
“Your coach sounds like a bitch.” This made her laugh as she agreed. Steve offered to step off the lake for a bit so she could feel safe enough not to get hit with a puck again and they’d switch off every 30 minutes so they could get breaks.
Steve watched her, mesmerized by the leaps and twirls she was able to do without effort. She too, was mesmerized by how brutish Steve was on the ice but was an absolute sweetheart off of it. They continued switching who was on the ice for hours, chatting in between and getting to know one another. By the end of their turn taking, it was pitch black outside, the moon shining bright and the star glimmering. They sat on a boulder beside the lake and talked, and they talked.
They talked for hours, about everything and nothing at all. Venting about their coaches and some of the people on their team. As they both took off their skates and put on their shoes, Steve asked her, “How did you get here if you don’t mind me asking?”
“I walked, I don’t live too far away, I live in the trailer park with my dad and cousin,” She replied.
“Do you want a ride home? I don’t mind, the trailer park is on my way actually.”
“That would be lovely, thank you.”
On the walk to his car, Steve asked about her family and who her cousin was. “Eddie Munson, super senior, school freak. He’s my favorite person, he’s a great guy, just misunderstood.”
“I’ve never talked to him before but I know he doesn’t like jocks very much.”
“God no, most of them bully the shit out of him. Once he gets used to someone, you get to see the real side of Eddie.”
They talked through the entire car ride, which was short and hadn’t stopped until he pulled into the driveway of the trailer, two men sitting on her doorstep with cigarettes in their hands and waiting. She kissed Steve on the cheek before thanking him and leaving the car.
“Where the hell have you been? We’ve been worried about you!” Eddie exclaimed, pulling his cousin into a protective hug.
“I was practicing for a while, met Steve and we lost track of time. I didn’t mean to scare you guys. I’m sorry,” She admitted.
“No need to apologize sweetpea. We’re just glad you’re home safe. We will be talking about that boy though,” Wayne butted in, kissing his daughter on the head before ushering the two teens inside. She waved at Steve one last time before the front door had closed behind her. She hadn’t left the area of the front door until she heard Steve’s car pull away and down the road. With a goofy grin on her face, she made her way into her room for the night. Happy she had the chance to get to know Steve Harrington. Happy that he wasn’t the asshole everyone said he was.

Evermore: The Proposal
Hi everyone! So, this One Shot is a flashback, to when Ari was a Sargent Major and Reader was a Freshman in College.
It's your first year at Boston College and you are working towards your degree in English and your teaching degree. Your roommate, Holly, has been nothing but amazing. She's a history major specializing in World War II. At the same time, you were on a soccer scholarship. You could have gone to Syracuse, Chapel Hill in North Carolina, or UConn. But you decided on Boston College since it’s closer to home.
Your family asked why you didn't apply for West Point or the Naval Academy or even the Air Force Academy. You could have because you had the connections because your uncle was in politics, your dad was a West Pointer and your aunt was at the Naval Academy.
But you didn’t because staying close to home was your choice.
You didn’t have class on Fridays, but you had soccer practice and a game tonight against Harvard. You reached for your phone before it went off. Yawning, you looked at the time 3:10am.
“Too early!” You mumbled to yourself and kicked out the blankets. Rubbing your eyes and you reached for your glasses and let out a long moan. You carefully got out of bed and grabbed your essentials. After getting ready for the day, you placed on your workout clothes, grabbed your cleats and your sports bag then you were out the door.
After a long day of practice, you made it to your dorm room and went to rest, before getting back to the field for tonight’s game. Your parents, Holly, and your cousin Eric will be there as well. It’s a big game, and it’s against your rival team Harvard. But there is one person in the world that is missing. Ari.
Ari is your best friend and finally made things official just a few years ago, even if you and he were an item long before that. You have told your parents. It was a no-brainer that the both of you have strong feelings for each other. It’s hard at first too. A few gals tried to go after him. And you have to admit, Ari is an eye catcher. You had doubts when he’s away but he's proven to you that he wants you and that he loves you.
But since he’s in the Army, he’s not home as often. Since he’s in training at 501s Airborne Division in Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Phone calls were rare and emails were the only way to communicate. Occasionally you would get a package from him. The long distance is hard and you sometimes would cry yourself to sleep because you missed him.
You arrived at the Newton Campus Field along with your teammates. As you walked in, you immediately went to your locker and went to get changed. You placed on your white jersey #10 (the date of your birthday), your shin guards, long socks and finally your cleats. Then your coach came in and told everyone that it was time to warm up.
**
You were on the field stretching with your teammate, Jenny, when you saw your parents in the stands. You waved at them then you saw Holly along with Erica and to your surprise, Andy. You laughed and flipped him off to which he laughed.
“You flipped your family off?” Jenny asked.
You turned your head and laughed, “I did, one of my best friends is in the stands with my family.” You said and continued your stretching. It was soon after when the game started.
When halftime came, you heard the announcer call your name and you stepped over to the middle of the field. You couldn’t understand why you’d been pulled away from your teammates at halftime. As you waited for the announcers to quit talking, you scratched at your arm. The main one said something that grabbed your attention, “Her boyfriend of two years, Ari Levinson, has been away serving our country in the US Army.”
Hearing Ari’s name made your heart flutter and a smile crossed your face. Your college mascot approached you holding a bouquet of roses. Confused, you took the flowers. A cheer erupted as a video started to play of you and Ari together. You looked up at the stands where Holly was grinning like a Cheshire Cat.
You were so entranced by the video that you completely missed the mascot starting to come out of his costume. The cheers and clapping got louder. A voice broke you from your reverie, “Y/N, turn around.”
You froze. That was Ari’s voice. Slowly, you turned. What you found in place of the mascot’s head was Ari’s. A grin was plastered to his face as he continued to come out of the costume. Your hands covered your face and tears came pouring down your cheeks. You jumped into his arms. Ari caught you and held you for a moment and you showered him with kisses. Then he placed you back down onto the ground. A microphone was placed into his hands.
“Y/N, over these past many years of knowing you, I have found someone irreplaceable. You are kind, generous, feisty and loving. Your heart is full of love and so ready to give. You make me smile with your beautiful laugh and your giving spirit.”
As he stepped from the costume, Ari’s uniform came into view. He pulled his cap from his pocket and adjusted it on his head, “You have been so supportive of my desire to serve and you take every deployment with patience and grace. When I am away, the only thing that keeps me going is imagining your face. Seeing you on those occasional calls makes me feel at home. You are my home.”
Your eyes widened and tears began to fill them as Ari lowered to one knee. Your hand flew to your mouth. Ari reached into his pocket, “I want nothing more than for you to be my home for the rest of our lives. Y/N will you marry me?”
You were still in shock, and you wanted to say yes, nothing was coming out. But Ari knew, he could see it in your tear stained eyes. He took the ring from the box and he slipped it onto your left hand. You then jumped into his arms and kissed him once more.
Ari let you go and you went on to finish the game. And as the game ended with a 2-1 and with Boston College winning, you had something else to celebrate too. After celebrating in the locker room, your parents, Holly, Andy, and your now fiancée Ari were waiting outside in the hallway. You were showered and changed. By the time you walked out, you saw Ari changed and still looked amazing. Your parents took you, Ari, Andy and your roommate to a nice dinner in Boston.
“So, I assume all of you were in this?” You asked, taking your seat next to your now fiancee.
Your mom, let out a giggle and your roommate did the same. You then also looked at Andy and he laughed.
“Well the proposal was something I wanted to do for a while, but my commander granted me an early leave. So I told your parents, they helped me with the planning. Holly talked to your coach and he made this happen.” Ari said, leaning in and kissed the top of your head.
“I just happened to be in town for the weekend, so I decided to come see your game too.” Andy said, giving you a wink.
“Well, you all are masterminds. I had no clue.” You say, as you grabbed the menu.
**
One year later, here you stood in the middle of the garden of St. Cecilia Catholic Church. With your bouquet in your hands, and you facing the gazebo. The nerves were rising, and you weren’t sure why you were this nervous. It’s just Ari and no one else. You have waited for this day to come, and it was finally here. You haven’t seen Ari since the summer and since then he’s been busy with new training and preparing for his deployment in Germany.
You felt a hand on your shoulder and you smiled to yourself. You turned around slowly, you were speechless. Your beloved Ari was standing there in his Army uniform, with his barrett, his coat showing his medals, his new rank of Sergeant Major and his saber at his side. You saw tears coming down his cheeks and you reached up to wipe them away. He placed his hand onto yours and you both smiled. Ari then placed his other hand onto your cheek and he placed a kiss on your forehead.

hella into “home court advantage” 👀
home court advantadge is my K/D/M post-canon fic also known as "If I'm having a middle life crisis, and YOU'RE having a middle life crisis, who is coaching the Foxes???"
The ACTUAL premise is that Wymack is planning to retire, giving more and more responsibilities to Assistant Coach Dan, who is defenitely not freaking out at all about the fact that she's about to become sole coach to the Foxes, her dream she absolutely cannot afford to fuck up even slightly. Meanwhile, Kevin suffers a carreer-ending injury and goes to live with Abby and Wymack while he figures out what the fuck he is going to do with his life now he doesn't have exy, and Neil pesters Dan into keeping an eye on him while he can't get leave from championships to make sure Kevin's okay. Matt doesn't have anything cataclysmic going on and that's a problem in and off itself; he feels as if he's stagnated both in his personal and professional lives, coasting by on an okay team and not having moved in with or even gotten engaged to Dan despite them dating for more than a decade. When his team fizzles out of the championships and he goes to take his costumary vacation at Dan's, he found that the status quo has changed now that she's carting around Kevin like a purse dog. The only unambiguous winners of this situation are the Foxes, who now have a completely new disaster to bet around, because some things never change.
I have some things planned in this fic involving Matt's dad that I'm pretty excited about because I find their relantionship fascinating. I also might touch on Dan's aunt and cousins, but that one might be more of a background deal. What I do intend to deal with is the way Dan and Matt treated Kevin when they were all Foxes, and what you do when you realize that you were wrong and an asshole but it's been thirteen years and bringing it up might kill the mood.
Something that was DEVASTATING to me is that I fully created and fleshed out like 12 of the 15 ocs on the Foxes lineup for this fic. But it was on my notes app and my phone just DIED. Catch me franctically trying to remember everything (on docs this time) because MY BABIES!!!!
#all the oc and socmed au content ive seen lately made me want to make some for these ocs maybe but im swamped by college. AND NOW THIS#fic: home court advantadge#my wips#ask game

Rant post because you guys are my only friends, which is kind of embarrassing but the truth. You don’t need to read it i just wanted to get it out.
I hate complaining about my parents bc they’re actually the best parents in the world, but i think I’ve been trying so hard to put them in this perfect little box that i completely ignore how much they’ve fucked me up. So many adults in my life have bullied (emotionally abused?) me because of a mental disorder I have, and I’ve always left my parents off of that list because it really wasn’t that bad with them. They might have made a few offhanded comments, but it was definitely not on the same level at all. I would never classify them as abusive in any sense, but in doing so I ignore the fact that they hurt me in general. My dad just stood there while the “trusted” adults in my life made fun of me in front of dozens of people over and over again, and he did nothing to stop them. That hurts more than anything.
When i was thirteen my worst abuser came into my life. She was my coach, like most of the others, but i was old enough to where my parents didn’t have to watch over me. I went to practice alone, and she tormented me. She pulled me aside in front of my entire team, and scolded me for being disrespectful to her. She said that my actions were not the result of any mental disorder, because she was a psychologist and she would know best. (I wasn’t diagnosed with anything at the time. I thought i was fucking insane. I’m now diagnosed with selective mutism.) She threatened to kick me off the team if i didn’t fix it. I was scared shitless that she would go through with it, because I didn’t know how my parents would react. I thought they would blame me like they had before, so i spent the next year hiding what she did (and continued to do). I was so scared to go to practice that i nearly passed out every week when the time came around. Idk, i just feel like i should have been able to trust someone
I didn’t get diagnosed until i was fourteen. I wouldn’t have gotten diagnosed at all if my cousin hadn’t been diagnosed at the age of nine. It was too late for me. I watched her get better while I made no progress myself. In the past five years, I have only spent two in therapy, because they were too busy to find me a therapist. I can’t make friends, i can’t keep friends, i can’t get a job, i have breakdowns every time i go to the store, I’m wasting my entire life being scared of every human interaction, all because no one cared enough to figure out what the hell was wrong me. I’m never getting better. This is the rest of my life.
And i know i secluded myself from the age of eight. I used to spend all of my time alone as a kid, because it’s how i felt safest. I pushed my family away. But i still feel emotionally neglected. I can’t remember the last time i went to my parents with a problem. I don’t know if i ever have. Maybe that’s because of the anxiety, but i still feel like that’s their fault. I was a child. They could have pushed more, or done literally anything to research what was going on with me. That was their job, and now I’m facing the consequences
#anyway.#sorry. i just realized how severely fucked up i am because of this#me realizing that my parents dismissed my emotions as a kid has led me here#everything makes a lot more sense though#I’ve always been like ‘perfect parents. done nothing wrong. but why do i relate to every sign of having shitty parents?’#they aren’t shitty#it’s my fault and im totally overreacting#but. it was damaging#selective mutism#that’s a tag!!#It’s niche. i feel like a kid who likes indie music#‘what mental illness do you have?’ *debbie ryan hair tuck* ‘you’ve never heard of it’#im gonna tag this like a fic#emotional abuse#bad parenting#no :(#decent parenting#emotional neglect#no one is gonna read this

People are home from work now, the later shifts still trickling in. Katie doesn't expect Lit for another half hour, the wrestling team he coaches is going to state soon so they're getting in extra practice. Aunt Georgie is in the kitchen with Aunt Calypso taking out some anger on potatoes
“What's with Aunt Georgie?” Katie asks the room as a whole
“I had three field trips today, THREE!” her youngest aunt cries “A middle schooler tried to lick a statue’s ass! What the hell is wrong with kids!?”
Ah, she must have been on tours today. Aunt Georgie is much more of a conservation and archives kind of art historian, but the Illinois State Museum has everyone do a tour shift at least once a month to keep it fair. Aunt Georgie loves her job, but she doesn't do sticky fingers and snotty noses, or dumbasses who touch the art
Katie leaves her aunt to take out her day on the potatoes, she hopes Aunt Calypso doesn't need them diced because they're edging towards mashed.
Katie turns her attention to the WorkShop
“What are you doing to my cousin?” she asks Uncle Leo who still has his upper torso in the dragon's neck
“I'm updating the-”
“Aren't you supposed to be troubleshooting his hydraulics?”
“Uh-”
“Wasn't he supposed to be closed up hours ago?”
“Don't do me like this” Uncle Leo pleads peeking his head out
“Put my fucking cousin back together” Katie scolds, ridiculous
Uncle Leo starts grumbling about how she sounds like the worst combination of her dads but gets his shit together. She hears Uncle Jason snickering at his husband from the couch, the shit she has to deal with with these grown-ass men she can't fathom what her dads had to deal with when they were chock-full of hormones
She gets to packing what she needs from the workshop, pulling her backpack from under a bench. It's less of a classic backpack and more of a fancy leather folding tackle box with backpack straps. Inside is a multitude of small snap lock boxes filled with a shmorgishborg of shrunk-down objects. She only needs to pack tools, current projects, and single-use weapons, everything else is either in Lettie’s bags or already there.
“If you steal my good pliers again I'm coming after you” Uncle Leo threatens from inside Festus
“There my pliers!” she protests
“There Katie’s pliers,” Uncle Jason monotones, turning the page in his book “she brought them with her when she moved here”
“And she stole them from me when she was still in school!” Uncle Leo defends pulling his head back out so he can gesture “There my pliers!”
“Just get new pliers”
“It's the principle of the thing!”
“Oh just like when you left the lid off my carbon paint”
“That has nothing to do with the good pliers”
“Ladies ladies you're both pretty, please don't fight” Lit taunts deadpan as he enters the room. Everyone gives a soft cheer at him coming home before going back to what they were doing
“Lit!” Katie calls “Are the blue pliers mine or Uncle Leo’s?”
“I do not care” Lit grumps before collapsing face-first onto a free couch, those kids must be wearing him out
Katie makes eye contact with Uncle Leo, holds up the good pliers, and holds eye contact as she shrinks them down and adds them to her packing. He makes a ‘your dead meat’ throat slice and thumbs down motion and then goes back to closing up Festus. Katie is going to have to double check she locks the door to her and Lettie’s room when they leave, her girlfriend will not be happy if pranking starts up again
They are saved from having to duke it out (aka, Katie continuing to pick a fight, Uncle Leo trying to turn Katie upside down from her ankles and shake her like he did when she was a kid, failing at it because she's taller than him now, and them play fighting on the floor of the workshop like proper Hephustus kids until Uncle Jason has to break them up because there doing it by the saws again and that stresses him out) by Lettie leading in a very bedraggled trio of Steel children
“What happened to you?” Uncle Jason asks
“This stupid place keeps sending us to the fucking elephant’s room!” Jackie wails, she has hay in her freshly washed gray hair
“Yeah, the Way Station is still pissed at Gus for exploding the west wall when he was here last” Uncle Leo tell them “It likes to try and get people to step in Livia’s shit when its mad”
“I said I was sorry!” Gus yells to the ceiling. Katie can feel a prickle of annoyance against her brain stem, from the snicker Uncle Leo lets out as he goes back to closing up Festus he can feel it too. A cabinet on the wall opens and smacks the seventeen-year-old on the back if the head
“Come clean up and set the table” Aunt Georgie suggests, also feeling the building “Way Station will forgive faster if you show remorse through action”

Epilogue (Part 2)
I wake at six with some noises and banging in the hallway. Groggily I climb to my feet and hobble to the door to see what all the fuss is about. It’s the makeup girl. The wheels of her cart of palettes seem to have gotten stuck on the high pile carpet and she’s careened the whole thing into the wall. “Sorry! I’m so sorry,” she whispers as I emerge, “I was looking for the bride’s room.”
Another door in the hallway opens and Shane pokes his head out. He’s fully dressed already in his suit, meaning that sleep didn’t come in the end. “You’re at the wrong end,” he hisses, “Bridal suite is down in room six, Evie, would you help her?”
She looks at me pleadingly, “Oh, would you mind? I’m doing a bad job of pushing this yoke in a straight line.”
I do, I go with her to the room, and when I knock Claire throws the door open looking perfectly serene in a silk dressing gown and matching slippers. “Evie!”
“And the makeup girl!” I say, “I was helping her with her stuff.”
She throws her arms around me and kisses both my cheeks, “I’m so happy to see you! I can’t believe you made it.”
“Oh God, come on, I’d hardly miss it.”
“Come in, come in, both of you, it’s so early.”
Inside the room her bridesmaids have already gathered and are lolling around a little fireplace, half asleep in their satin robes. The only one I know is Jaz from college. The others are close cousins from Tullamore who I’ve never met before.
“Everyone, this is Evie,” she says to them, “My should-have-been-bridesmaid.”
“Who has been a terrible friend,” I add, “I’ve just been working too much to commit to this, I’m so sorry.”
“No!” She says as she cups my face, “You’ve been doing amazingly, Shane and I followed the articles about you all across the world for the last six months, you’ve been a busy lady.”
“A tired lady.”
“Oh well maybe you can relax this weekend, do you think?” She climbs into a seat as the makeup artist begins to prep her face.
“You look amazing,” I tell her, “Your skin- What is that? What’ve you been using?”
“I’ll tell you a secret if you swear not to tell anyone else,” her lips curl into a smile, “it’s botox.”
I gasp and come closer to inspect her skin. I want to reach out and touch it but it’s already being wiped with a cotton round, “that’s amazing, you look twenty.”
“I wish, look,” she raises her eyebrows and her forehead is completely frozen, “No lines, isn’t that really weird?”
“Wow, keep doing that and you’ll make me want it too.”
And she rolls her eyes, “Oh come on, no, you don’t need to. You have those amazing genetics from your mam. How is it that she’s sixty four and doesn’t have a single wrinkle while my mam started getting lines at forty? Botox is something the O’Gorman women will have to invest in, the Kilbrides do not need botox.”
“News to me that your mam gets botox.”
“Oh Lord, yes, of course she does. It’s a lot of pressure to be the most glamorous woman in Tullamore, don’t you know? Now that it’s going to be me I need to step up my game,” She fists her hands with determination, “No slacking.”
In the three years since she and Shane have come back from Sydney, Claire has been busy too. She works at her dad’s office during the day – doing what I’m not exactly sure – and at night she takes classes in the local college so that she can get her degree in childcare, which might be useful seeing as she’s planning on having four of her own. Shane works in the lab at the pharmaceuticals company, his chemistry knowledge being put to good use, and he swears he really doesn’t mind it. It pays well, it doesn’t require him to travel and he leaves at five on the dot every evening to make his way over to the site of their new house across the lane from his childhood home and supervise the work. They should be moved in by Christmas, all going well. He hasn’t hung up his football boots yet, even since being dropped by the Swans. He coaches the girls’ under 10s and 12s football team two evenings a week at the local club.
I hang out with Claire and the sleepy bridesmaids for a while before deciding that I should probably get myself ready, or eat something, so I do. I throw on something to cover up my pyjamas and go down for breakfast on my own.
The snow is deep now, completely covering the landscape in a thick blanket and as I gaze out at it and eat my eggs and toast I wonder what would happen if it all got so bad that the roads closed down. What if it stopped us all from leaving? Maybe then, I think, I won’t have to think about work for a while, and I can take a holiday away from it all. “Sincerest apologies” I’ll write to my agent, “I’m trapped in a snowstorm away from my computer at the moment and there’s nothing I can do. I’ll send on the illustrations as soon as I can but really, I can’t make any estimation as to when that might be,” I smirk with delight and take a sip of my tea, thrilled by the idea of getting to do nothing.
The hotel is quiet now but I know that frantic preparation is happening behind closed doors, and within an hour it spills out into the hallway. I can hear it as I do my makeup at the dressing table; the disorder of that crucial hour before Claire walks down the aisle and it all suddenly comes together. Caroline’s voice, directing someone somewhere, she’s straightening Shane’s jacket and ordering him downstairs. There is someone else, Will O’Connor, pacing back and forth rehearsing the lines of his best man speech. A woman is talking about the temperature of the room, the tuning of her violin, or something like that, and I swear that somewhere among the chaos of it all I hear a voice, deep, smooth, American, and as he passes by my door I freeze, knowing I should open it, stop him and say hello but I can’t because I’ve smudged my lipstick now. I grab a tissue and wipe it away, and then it’s too late.
I head down to the reception room just a few minutes before the ceremony begins, feeling nervous, though I know I shouldn’t because it’s not my wedding day. Shane is at the altar already, fidgeting, and Will is beside him looking spaced out, hands in his pockets and looking at the Christmas tree at the back of the room. I smile at Shane, and he smiles at me. Ivy is there too, with her violin playing friend from the music academy, they’re playing a gentle tune as the guests come in. And there’s Kelly and her parents, and Claire’s mother… and there’s Jude, and it’s like he can recognize my footsteps because he turns around to look at me the moment my feet hit the floorboards, and just like that we’ve just made eye contact for the first time in nine years. And I haven’t died because of it. I breathe. I’m fine.
Choosing a seat somewhere near the front seems like a wise idea. That way I can’t stare at the back of his head and that cute, short haircut for any length of time and I can think about other things, like how Claire’s mothers dress is just a little bit too close to white, but really, I don’t have much of a chance to think about it anyway, because the musicians begin to play Pachibel’s Canon and the door opens and we all turn around as Kelly’s daughter comes bounding down the aisle chucking fistfuls of white petals onto the ground. Everyone coos at her and whispers about how cute she is, and then the moment that she throws the basket onto the floor and sends it rolling under somebody’s seat I spy Caroline pursing her lips.
“Fiadh,” she hisses, “Pick that up!”
Fiadh does not pick it up. She runs back down the aisle again and then Kelly is scrambling from her seat trying to grab her, now shrieking and weaving in and out of the seats. Someone captures her and holds her up, her fat little limbs squirming in mid air. I don’t know why I have an urge to look at Jude at this moment, as though I know him at all well enough to make a face and laugh privately about what’s just happened, so I try very hard not to, and anyway, I can’t. The bridesmaids are coming next.

Coach
For @dukexietyweek Day 8: Kids (Ao3) (login required)
Word Count: 1786
Rating: T
Characters: Virgil, Remus, Roman, Andy (TS Shorts Anxiety), OCs, Pattong (mentioned)
Warnings: mentions of toxic parents, death mention, sex mention
Virgil is one of the best coaches the local Little League has, and the kids love him. And so does one of their older brothers. And why wouldn’t Remus adore the one person more than willing to help him with Roman after losing their parents?
---
"Alright, bring it in!" Virgil shouted to his team. It was almost time for the first game of the season and he wanted to make sure his kids were ready.
About a dozen kids flocked to his dugout from the field, ready for the first huddle of the season. He was already proud of these kids, all between 10 and 11 years old. They had spirit and they trusted him to keep the team in line and in good spirits.
"Great warm up out there. Now we're fielding first. Andy, you think you can pitch this inning?" Virgil said and eyed his cousin.
"No."
"Alright, do you want to pitch at all for this game?"
"No."
"Okay. So you, Mike, and Damian won't go on the mound. That makes this easier. Davis, you're pitching first. Mike, left. Abdul, center. Wayne, right. Carlos, first. Andy, second. Roman, shortstop. Demitri, third. Toshio, catcher—Coach Pat will help you suit up. Damian, Benny, you're on the bench for now."
"I don't want to be left field!" Mike complained. He was the difficult one. He wanted to be the star. The hero.
"Everyone is going to be in every position at least three times. It's important to know how to play in different positions so you know what to expect from your team."
"But we won't win if I'm in the outfield!"
"That's not true, and we don't have to win. Little League is more like training. We're here to play, to learn how to be a team," Virgil said calmly, "it's no fun if you only care about winning."
"My dad is gonna be mad."
"If we don't win, I'll talk to him. And that goes for all of you, if you're scared that your parents will be mad, I'll talk to them. Now, who's ready to play ball?"
The kids cheered, bringing a smile to his face.
"Hands in, on three," he said and held his hand out, palm down. The kids slapped their own hands in with his and counted with him, except for Damian. He was keeping his distance.
"One! Two! Three! Jumpers!"
Virgil smiled at the kids who ran onto the field. Or to the bat box in Toshio's case. Then he eyed Damian and Benny.
"Benny, there's some granola bars and apple slices in this backpack , take it slow so you don't get an upset stomach. And I won't send you out there until you're less dizzy," he said and crouched by the bench to get something out of his bag. It was an oral thermometer. He stepped out of the dugout and approached Damian.
"Stick this under your tongue and have a seat," he told Damian, "I know you want to be out there, or at least watching, but I have to send you home if you have a fever or if you throw up."
"But I wanna be here for my friends," Damian pouted and stuck the thermometer under his tongue without sitting down on the grass or the nearest bench.
"You've got the spirit, Champ. And I don't want to discourage that. I also don't want you to get sicker by being out here. Sometimes the best way to support your team is to take care of yourself."
The thermometer beeped. Virgil slipped it out of the boy's mouth and read it. 103°F.
"Is your mom here?"
Damian nodded.
"You need to go home and rest. You have a high fever," Virgil told him, "I'll make sure you get to her."
Damian was unhappy as he and Virgil headed for the bleachers. The poor kid was such a great team player, he felt bad that he couldn't stay.
The bleachers were intimidating, full of rambunctious family members. Virgil didn't like having to go near them if he could help it. He was glad to see Damian's mother on the lowest bench, chatting with Roman's brother, Remus, a wily man with a mustache, about her hair routine. She always had a way of making her tight coils look incredible.
"Momma," Damian said softly, getting her attention.
"What's wrong, Baby?"
"Coach Virgil said I need to go home," Damian said and pouted, on the verge of tears. His mother turned her gaze on him, ready to fight him for making her baby cry.
"He has a temperature," Virgil admitted and held up the thermometer, "I know he wants to stay for the team, but I can't let him stay like this."
"I want to stay!" Damian sobbed. Virgil knelt by him and rubbed his back.
"You gotta take care of yourself, Champ, even if it makes you a little sad. There'll be other games and we'll be happy to have you feeling better on the field."
Damian nodded and dried his eyes. Virgil offered him an understanding smile and got up.
"Thank you, Virgil. I'm sorry for the mess."
"There's no mess, don't worry. It's great to have someone this dedicated on the team," Virgil said shyly, "But I'll let you get going. Drive safe."
After a quick goodbye, Virgil went back to the dugout to douse his hands in hand sanitizer and to make sure Benny wasn't shaking anymore. He didn't realize that someone was watching him like a hawk from the bleachers.
"Look alive out there!" he called to the outfielders as the next batter came up. He knew the kid, Phil, was actually really good at hitting the ball.
"Thanks, coach," Benny said when Virgil sat down next to him.
"I can't let anyone on my team go hungry," Virgil said and grabbed his clipboard, "Which is why I want you to put this in your bat bag and give it to your mom." He pulled an envelope from the clipboard and handed it to the kid.
"What is it?"
"A gift card for the grocery store. Let's keep it a secret between us," he said and started writing things down. Benny hugged him and hurried to hide his present.
Virgil smiled to himself and watched the game. These kids made the extra work worthwhile.
.
The game itself was pretty standard without too many incidents. Virgil was so glad he didn't have to fight with angry parents over the ump's calls. Even if they didn't win, his team played well.
"You guys did great out there today," Virgil said in the team's last huddle, "You're really coming together as a team and I'm proud of all of you. Now go get some rest and relax, you earned it. I'll see you on Tuesday for practice."
He broke the huddle and his team scattered, except for Andy and Roman.
"Hey, Squirt, can you get the bases and bring them to Coach Pat?" Virgil asked and started packing up. Andy rolled his eyes and trudged onto the field.
"What can I do, Coach Virgil?" Roman asked brightly.
"You don't have to do anything, I know your brother is here and probably wants to go home."
"He says he needs to talk to you," Roman pouted, "And he doesn't shut up. I don't wanna be bored."
Virgil's eyebrows rose slightly. Remus needed to talk to him? What could that feral babe need from him? Roman seemed to love being on his team and he was doing good. It wasn't like he had any reason to need to talk with a boring baseball coach. He could understand Remus might want to talk to him, they were best friends and they acted like boyfriends, and they spent a lot of time watching Roman. But need set off alarm bells.
"You can check the field for any balls. You don't have to go far, or you can see if Coach Pat wants help," Virgil said, "I'll try to make this quick."
Roman beamed at him and ran off to help. Virgil took a moment to finish packing and lean against the fence to calm his nerves. Remus probably wasn't going to yell at him for anything. He was probably just going to talk about Roman. It would be fine.
"Hey there, Coach" an imp purred by his ear, "wanna show me your bat and balls?"
Virgil yelped and spun around. Remus was leaning forward, holding the fence and arching his back coyly. He was grinning and taunting Virgil with his sparkling eyes.
"Jeez, are you trying to give me a heart attack?" Virgil huffed and tried not to stare. Remus looked good in his low rise jeans, neon green shredded crop-top, and spiked leather jacket.
"Nope!" Remus giggled, "You're just so cute when you're startled!"
"Ro said you need to talk to me?"
"Yeah! Are you busy tonight?"
"Why?" Virgil asked and picked up Andy's bat bag and his own.
"Do you want to get dinner and watch old horror movies at my place? Roman is sleeping over with Phil and it won't smell like formaldehyde or anything!" Remus grinned and wiggled his eyebrows. If he weren't an embalmer, Virgil would have questions for Remus.
"Depends. Is there more to it than cuddles?"
"Only if you're my boyfriend," Remus hummed, "Because I was planning on asking you anyway."
Virgil blushed and rubbed his neck.
"If you're sure."
"Yeah! Do you want to make things official?" Remus asked with a little shimmy.
"We don't have to kiss, do we?"
"Only if you want to!"
Virgil stepped out of the dugout and coaxed Remus away from the fence. The little imp was grinning and bouncing on his heels. He was so cute. Virgil couldn't resist kissing his forehead.
"I'll stop by after work and I'll bring Chinese food," he said with a smirk.
"Tease!" Remus huffed and grabbed his shirt. He dragged Virgil into a surprisingly chaste smooch.
"Gross!" Andy complained as he and Roman trudged over to them, both eager to leave.
"It could be grosser!" Remus teased, "I could accidentally sneeze on him too!"
"That's way grosser," Virgil agreed and rolled his eyes.
"Can we go home now?" Roman asked, glancing between the pair.
"Sure! Don't want to stop and say hi to mom and dad?" Remus asked. Roman shook his head. He didn't want to go to the cemetery. He wanted to shower and then spend the night with Phil and play video games. Remus was more than okay with that.
"Alright, then let's go!"
"See you tonight," Virgil said as Remus left with Roman. Then he turned his attention to Andy, who was picking up the backpack.
"Ready, Squirt?"
"Yeah. Are you and Remus dating?"
"We are now."
"Mom owes me 10 bucks. she said you wouldn't get together before I turn 11," Andy said mostly to himself. Virgil sighed and shook his head. He would have to have a talk with his aunt later.

Arkhelios Adventures
"Luci, come hang out with me. I'm stuck in stupid Arkhelios and if I have to spend another minute listening to Grandma go on about planning for retirement, I just might snap."
Noelle looked pleadingly at her cousin, trying to look as sad as she possibly could. It had been effortless escaping the Helios lot that she would one day own, but escaping Arkhelios was another matter altogether. At least Luci lived in Arkhelios part time and had access to her computer, bedroom and makeup. While Noelle was stuck at her grandmother's house, she had access to none of those things and she was going stir crazy. Noelle was turning twelve soon and she begged her mother to let her stay home alone, but her mother wouldn't hear of it. Someone had to look after Mikel and Noelle wasn't responsible enough to watch him. Things would probably only worsen once her newest sibling was born. There was no way that Noelle was going to watch her half-demon siblings alone. As a human in a heavily demonic family, she had to look out for herself.
"I can't, I have to practice," Luci replied. "The track meet is next month and the skating competition is two weeks away. If I don't practice now, I'll blow my chances for nationals this year."
Noelle scoffed. Luci was constantly on the move, running from sport to sport and competition to competition. There wasn't a weekend that she wasn't involved with at least one sport. It was a good thing that her father had money; Noelle knew from experience how expensive extracurriculars were and how hard it was to get a parent to pay for them.
"Get your dad to rig whatever event you're stressing over," Noelle suggested, earning a dirty look from her cousin. "Come hang out with me instead. We can flush Grandma's jewellery until the toilet breaks, she just got it fixed from last time. Or, even better, we could put sugar in the gas tank of her sports car! I'd love to see the look on that cow's face."
Luci laughed, rolling her eyes as she did.
"You're the worst, Nol. There's no way my dad could afford to fix the competition and there's no need. If I practice, first place is practically guaranteed, no money needed. It's what I like, just like senseless destruction seems to be your thing."
"There's nothing wrong with making things interesting," Noelle countered. "Things are interesting in Pleasantview and I manage just fine. It's just stupid Arkhelios and Grandma's dumb house. Why can't my mom leave us with someone in Pleasantview when she has to work? She's only married to the freaking devil, you'd think she would have money to pay someone else to look after her kids."
"I think things are interesting here," Luci protested. "I mean, my dad and Evren's house is nicer and on the beach, but there's still plenty to do in Arkhelios. There's the soccer team you could join if you want. Osbert is a really good coach and we usually win."
"Bleh, no thanks," Noelle scoffed, looking horrified at the idea. "I don't run unless I have to. My make up might get ruined."
"Well, we could see what Rien's up to," Luci suggested. "I'm sure she's helping Dad in the kitchen. You know how he gets this time of year."
Noelle's face immediately brightened at the thought.
"Is it maniacal baking day already? What do you think he's making? Cake? Cookies?"
Luci frowned.
"You shouldn't say things like that," she scolded. "It's not nice."
"It doesn't have to be nice if it's true. We all know why your dad freaks out and turns the house into a bakery this time of year."
Luciana frowned.
"If Ulyssa wasn't such a bitch, she would at least let him meet Georgiana. I mean we all know about her anyway. Why else would he be obsessively making birthday cakes on her birthday and dropping them off at the Durant house?"
"So there is cake?" Noelle asked. "Arkhelios isn't all that bad when it has gourmet cakes to eat."
"Oh my god, Nol. No wonder your mom abandons you here, you're feral. At least try to not upset my dad while you're here. You're too much like your mom sometimes. Maybe if you were nicer, your other mom or dad would have stuck around to raise you. Leave my dad alone and eat some cake before you scare off Aunt Lucy too."
With that, Luciana turned her back to her cousin and headed towards the rink in the yard to practice. Noelle stood stunned in silence. Luciana's words were harsh, but Theo was hardly the only Bellamy to say mean spirited things when provoked. Luciana was far more direct with her anger; it was something that Noelle respected her for. She could handle any anger directed at her and give it right back to her cousin. Luciana was just the kind of girl that Noelle could handle. The two could say horrible things to each other, spend ten minutes cooling down and then hang out happily together.
"This one's ready to go! Come box this up for me, Abe."
Roman admired his work. The Durants were going to love this year's offerings. Every year, Jorah donated Roman's baked goods to charitable causes. He did keep some items for his own family, but the vast majority went to fundraise for the orphans in Strangetown. On this day every year, Jorah would accept the baked goods, separate a cake or two for his family to share over dinner that night and send the rest off. It was sheer coincidence that this day also marked the occasion of Princess Georgiana's birthday and the annual gathering of the entire Durant family to celebrate. Whatever Jorah kept from the baked goods would grace the plate of Princess Georgiana herself and so Roman laboured to make his deserts high quality to satisfy her royal taste buds while also encouraging sales for the needy.
Roman frowned as he cracked another egg on the side of his new bowl.
"This could be the year you change things, Dad. There's an opportunity opening, one that could shift the family dynamics."
Roman jolted out of his focus on a bowl of flour to see his daughter watching him intently.
"Rien! You startled me. Hand me that hand towel, some vanilla spilled over here."
Out of all of his children, Adrienne was by far the quietest. No one saw her coming, or noticed her lurking in the shadows of the house, watching her family. She was quieter than even Too, an actual cat. Roman found the behaviour unsettling, but there was no correcting it. Adrienne was simply a quiet child, unlike most of her siblings. Nothing escaped her watchful eyes, and more often than not, Roman caught his daughter murmuring quietly to herself. She was his grandmother's spitting image behaviourally, though he never quite remembered Malika being quite as socially odd. Maybe his daughter would one day gain the social skills of his grandmother, but until then, Roman had resigned himself to being startled when Adrienne revealed herself.
"Rien, you really can't say things like that," he sighed. "It's a complicated situation, things aren't as easy as they seem to someone your age."
"The spirits wish you were more observant, Dad. There's so much that they want you to know. They want to get to know you, the same way they've gotten to know me."
"Honey, I don't understand all of that and I don't think I'd be any good at it," he replied with a small sigh. "My grandmother was the only one in our family with a connection to these spirits and sometimes I wonder if they really have your best interests at heart when they tell you things. Maybe you should talk with Aunt Wanda if she has the time. She might know more about the occult than I would. Or ask Adam's father the next time he comes to pick up Adam. Please? Just get a second opinion, that's all I ask."
Roman couldn't be sure, but he thought he saw his daughter give him the same horrifying look that Theo usually gave him on weekends home from school. The infamous "I know so much more than you and you don't even realize it" look. Adrienne didn't hold the glare for nearly as long as her brother did, but it felt just as patronizing.
"Sure," she agreed. "I'll do that, Dad. But if I do ask someone for their opinion, then it's only fair that you do the same. You ask someone you think would know about the spirit world and see what they say. Or better yet, why don't you try contacting the spirits themselves? You could borrow my tarot deck."
It was a fair idea, and one that Roman couldn't think of a way of refusing. It wouldn't hurt anything to take out his grandmother's tarot cards and see what happened. Probably nothing, knowing his luck, but if it was that important to his daughter, then Roman would give it a chance.
"Okay, we have a deal," he declared, stirring ingredients in his pot as he spoke. "Now why don't you come help me grease this pan so we can get these cookies in the oven?"

Little subject change for a bit. But my cousin is coming over for her first sleepover next weekend. She’s never been allowed to have a sleepover at my parents house and for what reason, I don’t fucking know. My parents have never been allowed to have her at their house for longer than a couple hours and alone, which is absurd to me. My parents are the kind of parents that go to their kids sport games, support their children from the stands and make sure we never have to know what it feels like to not have their parent/parents there. My first ever soccer practice, my mom and dad met with the soccer coach and got to know him so he could know how to coach me the right way. My dad joined the soccer team as a coach one year when my sister was playing hockey because she needed another coach and he stepped up. My dad went to every field trip I had since my mom was at home with the daycare kids she had and was getting paid to take care of because they wanted to make sure they weren’t absent in our lives. My parents took my sister and I on vacation even if they couldn’t afford it all because they wanted to create core memories with us and create a relationship with their children all because they love us. So the fact that my mom and dad were shunned from having their niece over for a playdate or to just hang out without their parents around is absolutely ridiculous to me.
You tell me, are my parents the type of person to do something that would make their niece unsafe? From the way I described my parents, does it make sense that they weren’t allowed to have my cousin over for a sleepover in the whole 12 years she’s been alive? since I’m 12 years older then her.
Anyways, that’s my trauma dump of the day and that’s all I have to say about this. Baby, I’m sorry for making you read all of this and if you want to just DM me and talk about this privately instead, feel free. I just needed to get this off my chest
They sound really lovely so i don’t understand what the problem would be ??? Hell i wanna come over forget the kid

Hockey Bros
Someone’s POV
Moving out from the place you grew up was hard and Kyle’s parents knew that but Kyle‘s dad had gotten a better job opportunity away from Toronto, and this was so infuriating for the 11-year-old. He had to leave his friends behind and his cousins behind. That wasn’t what he expected for his 11th birthday, but that was what he got. Usually he would’ve been happy for his parents. A better job opportunity would be better for him, but as of right now it wasn’t. He had to leave his friends, his family and his crush. A guy named Michael. But what what’s the worst news for Kyle was that he had to join a new hockey team he was already the captain of his team Siberian huskies and having to start fresh in a new team really boiled his blood so the whole plane ride towards Alberta didn’t give his parents a word he was angry. He was pissed and he had teary eyes. Yes, he was a confident guy and he could make friends easily, but the idea of starting fresh and meeting new people was not something he expected not yet. The first thing parents did when they landed in Alberta was split out. Kyle's dad decided to focus on unpacking their stuff in their new place with the company he was working with. Provided them a nice place for them to live in while Kyle‘s mom took Kyle to check out this hockey team. Let's just say, Kyle was very excited about missing his friends and his team. “ Kyle sweetie turned that frown upside down. I know you’re gonna miss your old team but you can’t expect to be with them. You should be happy for your dad. He’s finally moving up his business, and I thought you would’ve been more understanding.” Kyle’s mom said, trying to calm her son. Kyle’s hand through his short black hair as he sighed “ mom I’m upset because…. I didn’t want to move. I don’t want to start fresh. We were happy and comfortable in Toronto. We had our family there. I had my friends….. I didn’t have enough time so I couldn't even confess my feelings to him.” He said exasperated “ I know Kyle I had the same conversation with your dad look I promise you things will get better and science. Alberta is a bad place to live in and I’m sure you’ll make lots of friends here who could resist your charm and your friendly attitude, and which hockey team wouldn’t take you you’re the best hockey player I know for your age that is” she smiled as they walked together. “ You’re going to fit in perfectly with the new team your new school coach from the Siberian huskies was a bit but he did told me he showed some of your scales to the coach of the new team you’re going to be and your old coach coach Anderson said that the coach from this team was excited to have you join them” Kyle’s mom k kept trying to share her son up. Yes she was. Understanding that. Kyle has to start fresh in a new place but she knew that her son would be able to do it. He was a friendly guy and people usually liked him.
The mother and son duo walked thru the street towards where Kyle would have hockey practice with his new team, Kyle loved hockey. It was the only sport Kyle ever showed interest in, so having the first thing to make her son happy be taking him to meet his new team was the right thing to do in her opinion she took a deep breath as it entered through the doors, the sound of skating, and some crashes and grunts could be heard. It was Kyle was familiar with even in his downbeat mood. Softly change into a mix of excitement and nervousness. “ you’ll be alright kiddo I believe in you. I'll wait here a while until you get acquainted with your new team” she smiled as Kyle nodded with a hint of nervousness, but was more nervous like doing an oral presentation. He took a deep breath as he began walking towards the skating rink, as he walked the coach noticed him and he blew his whistle to make the team stop and they all skated towards him . “Alright team! I want you to meet our newest teammate, he flew in straight from Toronton!” the coach said as he turned to Kyle “this is Kyle Rivera! He comes from the Siberian Huskies team from Toronto” the coach added as he turned his attention back to the team. “So a Jerk from another team is now on our team? Great” The guy rolled his eyes as another guy with dirty blond hair, hit the guy who spoke in the shoulder. “Yeah that 's! Great Jake, A new face and a fresh new playing style!” The guy said as Jake rolled his eyes again. “Well said Wayner!” A guy with dark brown hair said as he walked to Kyle “I’m Raj!” Kyle looked at the guy he now knew was named Raj “Uh Nice meeting you” Kyle tried to smile to conceal his nervousness. “You’ll get time to talk to Kyle later boys! Wayne, hope you and the rest of the team welcome Kyle with open arms! He is an excellent Player. Let’s make sure we don’t lose this one like with Matthew.” The coach said his gaze straight at Jake “Did you hear Jake?” A guy with red hair said from the other side. “Okay boys, get back to practice! I’ll have a talk with Kyle and Wayne for a second.” The coach said “Yes Coach!” the group said as Kyle, Wayne and The coach walked to a corner of the rink. “Kyle I’m The coach Gordie Gretzky. Hope you know that you aren’t a team captain anymore. You may have been the Siberians Huskies captain, but in the Snow Owls Wayne Howe here is the Captain” Kyle gazed at Wayne as he had a dumb but cute smile on his face which was contagious. “ And we Have rules Kyle, I hope you know how to work well with your team. I want you to get to know everyone and so you can all work on your team union.” He added as Wayne smiled more “Alright Coach! I’ll make a bonding trip to help the new guy get friendly with us!” He smiled as he said that while “Kyle you can stay and watch the boy practice, or wait in the locker room for when the next practice.” Coach Gretzky said “Yes Coach! I’ll watch the practice, I like observing the teams I’m in or playing against with” He said as the three walked towards the rink and Wayne joined the team once again to resume with the practice. After practice, the coach gave them the usual speech he gave the team before he gave Kyle a welcome and handed Kyle his Hockey Jersey with his number which was the same number Kyle had in his old Team, 7. Kyle let out a breath of relief as he walked out of the locker room, He felt less upset as he walked out of the place. A few steps outside he heard someone calling out to him. Kyle turns and sees Wayne and Raj along with Jake, and the rest of the team “Kyle we were going out for some team bonding and eating some burgers, want to join us? My mom will be there” Wayne said smiling wide “Well count me out Wayne” Jake said “My mom needs to go pick up my sister Jane from her cheerleading practice.” As Jake gave his excuse the other hockey player gave their own excuses as to why they couldn't join them, leaving Kyle with Raj and Wayne and Wayne’s mom Mrs. Howe and Kyle’s Mom Mrs. Rivera.
The whole bonding time went well as both Raj and Wayne talked with Kyle asking him about his team and how he managed to become team leader. They spent the entire afternoon talking and sharing about their lives. Kyle learned that Raj and Wayne knew each other since they were kids and that they rarely spent any time apart, while Kyle talked about his cousins, mainly about one of the who lives in a farm with his partner, the one who was with a lawyer, one who lived in jersey and one who was his inspiration along with his girlfriend. They spent the time talking and even hitting the nearby hockey store to view some of the new hockey gear.
Throughout Kyle’s few days and weeks and months, He was pushed into a new routine, new school and new acquaintances. Lucky for Him, Raj and Wayne ,even if they weren’t the sharpest tool on the shed, they welcomed Kyle in their dynamic duo friendship. They always included the guy, as weeks turned into months, his hair shortly slowly growing with the time passing “You should let your hair grow a bit more Ky! I think you'd look awesome!” Raj said during lunch time at highschool “Yeah, Rajie here is good at that sort of thing Ky. why don’t you grow it out eh?” Wayne said smiling “should I?” he said with a hint of blush on his cheeks. “Yeah Ky! I think you should” Raj smiled again”Ky?” He blushed as the two were calling him ky “Oh yeah Wayner was the one who came up with that nickname cool right Ky?” Raj said his smile still plastered on his face. “Yeah! Raj, Wayner and Ky! the dynamic duo!” Wayne said excitedly “Actually it’s trio” Kyle said correcting them as the three talked and Kyle laughed at their playfulness, Jane, Jake’s sister, walked towards the table the hockey bros were at “Kyle, My brother has been telling me you have kept wayne and Raj here from doing something dumb is that true?” She asked, smiling at him “Oh yeah I guess I have!” He smiled awkwardly “It's a lot of work but it's worth it!” “Awe!” Both Wayne and Raj hugged kyle.
Slowly as the Years passed and the trio were growing, the new dynamic was also evolving, Kyle becoming less concerned with correcting every time they say something wrong. At times Kyle has even joined in their dumb anthics. But also something in kyle happened he slowly began falling for Wayne, maybe because they hung out a lot, but he couldn’t help how he felt, so at times when the three of them hung out kyle sometimes got blushy and nervous. or sometimes moved from Wayne's side to sit beside Raj, despite that minor thing, the guys got a matching pendant in form of a puck, kyle’s was in a necklace while Raj and Wayne’s were in a bracelet. Kyle believed that the bracelets would be strong enough to handle Raj and Wayne’s recklessness so it wouldn’t break. Something that also changed in Kyle was the way he played, getting more competitive especially when the snow owls went against the Siberian Huskies, this competitive behavior from Kyle became a normal behavior for Kyle whenever his team was losing. He hasn’t been sat out because Wayne and Raj always vouch for their friend. Tho someday this competitiveness would be the reason why Kyle will be Eliminated from Total Drama in the 6th position in the future. For now Kyle, Raj and Wayne were enjoying their friendship.
