hey, friendly reminder, spider's iconic bow shot:

was his almost instantaneous reaction to one of the recom's putting their hands on Tuk. He then has to be convinced by both his siblings to put the bow down and keeps it trained on the recom holding Tuk.

when Quaritch approaches Spider, Tuk hisses at him (hard to see in photo cause they were little baby hisses)

when Jake tells spider to get "them" out of there, spider immediatly calls for Tuk (and grabs Kiri)

now for some cuter snippets

and when Tuk goes to egg on and tease Lo'ak, she hides behind her big brother, and Spider looks amused in the way a big brother is equally amused and tired of their little sisters antics (he's probably defended her, whether she was the one who needed defending or not, many times, especially when it comes to Lo'ak)

and she runs for both Kiri and Spider when the war party returns, making it clear she hangs out with them quite often.

my conclusion? she and Spider are besties, no one puts their hands on his baby sister, I rest my case.

Am I ecstatic that there is finally another canonical aroace character that isn't an inanimate object in a popular media? Yes

Am I still upset that its a sadistic and maybe cannibal serial killer? Yeah I am it kinda sucks, aroace people aren't heartless monsters and I'd like characters that reflect that more since we're already underrepresented in media and there's a lot of bigotry towards aroace people for being "heartless monsters" because we don't feel much or any romantic or sexual attraction

Do I still love alastor and want to see how his character develops? Absolutely fucking yes, I want to know his backstory, his motivations, and the fact that he doesn't even realise he's aroace is so funny to me

I'm so glad for more representation of aroace people in media but still kind of boo for him being a serial killer (and for people not respecting his being aroace, and I dont mean putting him in ships I mean putting him in ships AND completely disregarding the fact that his sexual/romantic orientation would affect said relationship) but also I think he's a good character and I can't decide if I'd rather he be dragged kicking and screaming into being a better person or if I want him to prove himself as the big bad villain in a later season

My own experience with religious upbringing is slightly different than the options on your poll so while I voted the one that applies best I still think I kinda want to explain because it's an important topic:

So, I come from an officially secular but still mostly Catholic country (Italy lol) and my extended family is kinda-ish religious but my parents are one non-praticant (she just really enjoys celebrating Christmas, and mostly because of the social gatherings, the gifts and the decorations) and one a self-declared apostate (raised to be a good Catholic boy, turned Atheist... still witholding some deeply Catholic views), and both heavily criticize the Church. When I was little I was asked if I wanted a religious education, I said no, I never had any religious education.

HOWEVER, my peers were all at the equivalent of Sunday school, THUS I grew up in a socially conservative and bigot environment, and while I didn't really pay too much attention to it as a child and adolescent, naively thinking that they would grow out of it, and even being ok with helping the local church with some things (it was the only way to socialize with kids my age without drugs AND the main priest back then was really a great guy and he liked me without trying to change me, something no other adult seemed to do)... in retrospective it was Quite A Big Deal in most of my social interactions and, as an adult, I noticed just how much many people cannot warp their heads around my absolute atheism.

So, yeah. Outside of my parents and a few friends, I lived in a very religious place. And that creates pressure whether we want it or not.

And I agree with you, it creates pressure regardless of whether we participate or not, it's all around us and normalized, we can get excluded from our peers and socially isolated and alienated for not participating, it's a big deal for a child!

It's so cool you could decide to not get religious education though, I love that you chose not to be exposed to misogynistic bullshit and got that granted to you!
