It was pretty difficult to narrow it down to 5 songs, but here are my five current hyper fixations🤡

3 Swedish songs and two English! Gyllene tider is my all time favorite band, definitely give them a listen!!

That English is well-pronounced

Ich kann nicht denken, was ich jetzt schreiben muss! Aber das ist normal, oder?  Haha, I was studying a little bit more of German, so that’s why I got a little carried away (and in the coming days, this may happen again). So, Roxette! I still can’t think.  I just heard “Another Night” by Real McCoy on repeat in the car today, because it is one of my mother’s favorite song. Do you know that Real McCoy is also a German band? Yep - I found out about it I guess 3 years back, and back then I wasn’t even aware that I’d be learning German one day!  Eurodance was Real McCoy’s musical genre and 2-3 of their songs got super famous, like “Another Night”, “Runaway” and “Come and get Your Love”.  If you listen carefully, you won’t really feel that Real McCoy is a band from a non-English speaking country, with perfect singing accents. Thinking of Nena, one can simply tell her native language isn’t English. And of course, Marie Fredriksson - in the later recordings, you can feel a little cute accent there.  Per is still perfect. I wonder how? Even in Swedish songs of Gyllene Tider, when he has to say something in English, it’s a perfect “English” pronunciation there. In his Swedish Radio interviews, when he has to use English phrases, or even name Roxette songs, his accent is perfect English.  Does he practice a lot?  Remember that Roxette DVD with documentaries, Marie had to sing again and again because the accent was not good? P.S. I am mainly doing this bc I know this is a hit in the U.S. and the lead singer is my favorite Swedish living artist: Per Gessle. If you like Roxette you should check out Gyllene Tider (the other band he’s famous for being in)

Volume 1 to Volume 7

Fun Fact: Did you know that Roxette’s “Dance Passion” has 7 songs and is 38 mins long? Roxette’s “Good Karma” has 11 songs and is also 38 mins long.  Cool, ain’t it? Well, my favorite song, 3 weeks in a row has been “Sarà perché ti amo” by Ricchi e Poveri, and it’s a lovely lovely song with a bit of an ABBA-ish touch, musically.  Talking about ABBA, there are rumors which are “confirmed” now that they are having a reunion after 35 years. Lets see how true is it this time.  I still didn’t get a chance to listen to “Dance Passion” till now, because I need full concentration for it, and I have not gotten it yet. But I did get a chance to listen to quite some Gyllene Tider and solo Marie Fredriksson in the Swedish best hits albums. I have heard 7 albums, and almost all of them have a representation from GT and MF. Seriously, this shows how BIG they were and how BIG they are in the Swedish pop scene.  Out of 7 albums, 6 had GT and Marie.  Let me share: Vol. 1 - Juni, Juli, Augusti - Gyllene Tider - Ännu doftar kärlek - Marie Fredriksson Vol. 3 - Sommartider - Gyllene Tider - Sparvöga - Marie Fredriksson Vol. 4 - Lycklig, Lycklig - Ulf Lundell (Marie sang a version of this song with Ulf Lundell as well) - När Vi Två Blir En - Gyllene Tider - Efter Stormen - Marie Fredriksson Vol. 5 - Flickorna På TV2 - Gyllene Tider Vol. 6 - Ljudet Av Ett Annat Hjärta - Gyllene Tider Vol. 7 - (Kom Så Ska Vi) Leva Livet - Gyllene Tider - Så Länge Det Lyser Mittemot - Marie Fredriksson  And not just there, there are 2 more things worth mentioning: - Nordman is a fantastic Swedish band which blends Pop-Rock with Folk. Fantastic.  - Ratata (yes, the same who sang “I want you” with Roxette and Eva Dahlgren) sounds quite a lot like “Foreigner” (Remember their song “Waiting for a girl like you” or “Say you will” or “I want to know what love is”?) - Eva Dahlgren is fantastic! There are plenty of songs by her which I came across in these 7 volumes out of 20, and i’m super impressed by her understanding of Pop. Local and International Wikipedia

My favorite song since the past 2 weeks has been a super hit Italian song from 1981 called “Sarà perchè ti amo” by a really really famous band “ Ricchi e Poveri”. Have you heard it? I got to read that it was really famous in its time.  Do let me know. The link for your reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wA_0lSxkG8 Now the information on Wikipedia about the band Ricchi e Poveri was very limited when I checked in English. I checked the same band on the Italian Wikipedia and the page wasn’t even in a mood to end - Yes, it had that much of information about the band. “Hey, lets check Per Gessle on the Swedish Wikipedia page” (Obviously).  I did check it and there was a tiny thing I noted there which disturbed me to the core of my heart.  What is that you ask? Let me tell you what it was.  It said that his related artists are: Gyllene Tider (1978-1985, 2004-), Roxette (1986-2002, 2006-2016) The Swedish Wikipedia kind of gave an impression like Roxette broke up (God forbid) or something! And if they can give this impression, why not write that Gyllene Tider (1978-1985, 2004, 2013) instead of just putting a dash in front of it? Yes, it is disturbing!!! And I’m definitely not the only one.  There is quite some difference in the English and Swedish page about Per (as well as Roxette, Marie Fredriksson and Gyllene Tider). Here is a little comparison for you:
