So I decided to play the Wally dress up game with some of my favorite scenes/songs/outfits from one of my favorite movies, Last Night In Soho… idk, I just combined two things I enjoy for no reason. The songs made me think of him.

Also bonus of Wally in THE dress. He’s just iconic in his sneakers, is he not? The absolute MOST.

I don’t mind old electronics, really, but sometimes I wonder what it’s like to have things that are just. New. And not hand-me-down from either four people or from more then a decade ago.

Our next conservatory resident, well… remember my post about the Spewpa we took in and how important it is to protect your local Spewpa population? Well, here’s another prime example of why.

This is Vivillon, one of the most beautiful creatures that exist in this world. (Can you tell what my second favorite type is?) Unfortunately, due to how many gorgeous patterns their wings take, they are, again, one of the most hunted Pokemon species. And often, subject to the most abuse from hunters. This poor girl is no exception.

As you can see, the reason she can’t return to the wild is because she was subject to some nasty abuse from the hunter she was captured by after she evolved, resulting in tears in her wing that prevent her from being able to fly very well. This lead to the hunter dumping her on the side of the road because she was no longer ‘perfect’. (😡) Since we were the nearest sanctuary, we took her in.

She was badly injured and her wing was tender and painful because the tears were fresh. I knew she couldn’t be transported right away, so she stayed with us for much longer than she normally would have been if she was in better shape. I got in contact with the Vivillon sanctuary and conservatory we work with frequently to make sure she was getting the best care possible.

And in the time she was here, she bonded with me, with my team, and most of all, the permanent residents of the conservatory. It took no time at all for me to realize that ‘longer than usual’ would come to be defined as ‘never leaving’ in this instance.

And she will always be loved and cared for here. 💗

if the hickey is orange-ish, put some green concealer over it and then your foundation, if it its red/purple put a yellow one. if you don't have those colors of concealer, use eyeshadow, you made need to give it a second layer, but will work too ;)

Since it’s been a bit since I posted art, have a coloured KG Allin. Probably the only one of my quick sketches from December that will actually get fully coloured.

It kills me how much better he looks in KG red than FL blue.

Also OOF the difference in what he looks like on my laptop compared to the iPad. Now I'm afraid of how washed out things are gonna be when I post the "good" art.

the steven universe hate is insane bc people are (or at least were) more upset that fictional war criminals got fictional hugs than they recognize that it singlehandedly advanced queer rep in children's media by lightyears and then straight up ate heavy retaliation for the nerve.

It does have real flaws that are worth discussing, but it also put their male protagonist in dresses and skirts and played it straight and even empowering, they aired a lesbian wedding on television, it was a genuinely queer, genuinely diverse piece of media through and through. It did a lot of real good for the real world.

But also the fictional characters caused fictional harm to other fictional characters, and didn't get an onscreen firing squad sentence. So, you know, it's basically ontologically evil in real life.

Expanding a thought from a conversation this morning:

In general, I think "Is X out-of-character?" is not a terribly useful question for a writer. It shuts down possibility, and interesting directions you could take a character.

A better question, I believe, is "What would it take for Character to do X?" What extremity would she find herself in, where X starts to look like a good idea? What loyalties or fears leave him with X as his only option? THAT'S where a potentially interesting story lies.

In practice, I find that you can often justify much more from a character than you initially dreamed you could: some of my best stories come from "What might drive Character to do [thing he would never do]?" As long as you make it clear to the reader what the hell pushed your character to this point, you've got the seed of a compelling story on your hands.
