Has Kurou ever been inlove? Did he ever tell that person he was inlove with them?

YES he's been in love before. i briefly talked about his ex-girlfriend ximena in this ask, but he loved her soooo much. everyone thought they were gonna be together for a long time. i love talking about them so let’s dig into the kuromena lore :D

as i’ve spoken about before, kurou met ximena at kolia’s job. kolia works full time at a high-end marketing firm, and often times kurou will drop by to bring her lunch when he’s not doing anything. because kolia’s job deals with big-time clients and is in a high-end office building, everyone is wearing business formal (including kolia). kurou is never wearing business formal when he comes in. matter of fact, sometimes he’s barely wearing a shirt. when he starts to come by to drop lunch off for kolia, he quickly became known as “crop top” by the receptionists, which inevitably spread upstairs to the rest of the employees LOL

basically, after a while, kurou comes in frequently enough that the receptionists just start letting him up into the building to go directly to kolia’s cubicle. in order to get to the marketing department where kolia works, you have to walk through the accounting department. ximena (bless her heart) works in the accounting department. the first day kurou was allowed up into the office, he saw her at her desk as he was passing by and he was like shot through the heart instantly when she met his gaze to idly say hello. he quickly became very smitten with her lol, but he didn’t want to say anything because if kolia found out, she’d actively discourage him pursuing anything with any of her coworkers, but especially ximena. she explicitly told kurou to not even think about talking to ximena any type of way. ximena was one step down from the accounting department manager and was about 7 or 8 years older than kurou, so she was nearly 30 at the time. she was very clean cut, organized, and classy, and kurou was OBSESSED with her. as i’ve said before, he has a thing for older women, but he really has a thing for put together older women hahahaha.

kurou started to bring kolia lunch a lot just so he’d have an excuse to go see her and have small talk. he’d try to flirt with her and she’d laugh him off, but one day he was like, “i really wanna take you out, i’m so into you, please ximena pleeeaaaaseeee” and she thought it was so pathetic (in a good way) that she agreed to it just because she thought it would be a little funny. turns out kurou really knows how to turn the charm on when he’s given the chance to do so in an uncontrolled environment HAHAHA and ximena found herself liking his messy insufferable ass quite a bit.

they went on a couple dates and ximena would let kurou get away with waaay too much lol, but after some weeks, she randomly was like, “you know, kurou, i wouldn’t mind being your girlfriend” and kurou nearly exploded in that single moment. however… kolia still didn’t know about this. all of kurou’s friends (and family) knew about him and ximena except for kolia because kurou kept telling people to not tell kolia because she would KILL HIM if she found out. it was a big secret for a while, but then one day she caught the two of them giggling and fondly touching each other in one of the office break rooms and she got sooooo mad 😭😭 she banned kurou from bringing her lunch for a long while and she didn’t talk to him for almost two weeks… especially after she found out that everyone was keeping the secret from her. oops!!!!

anyways, ximena and kurou had a very cute and blissful relationship and he loved her more than anything. he told her all the time and was always fawning over her in a way that many of his friends were surprised to see, as he’s generally pretty dismissive with people he’d dated short-term. love changes him in a crazy way lol. he becomes a lot softer and sweeter. the way he looked at ximena was sickening for the others to witness lololol. they were together for a year and a half, and kurou SWORE he was gonna marry her, like he would tell his sisters all the time. he was convinced that she was like the only woman of all time.

but then… ximena got a job offer to be the head of the accounting department of the main branch of the marketing firm, which was in a big city across the country. it was paying CRAZY money and she really couldn’t pass it up— it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. she loved kurou so much too and she wanted him to come with her when she moved… but kurou couldn’t bear to leave his family, his friends, or the band, which had just barely started at this point. ximena made it really clear that she didn’t want to do long distance and this shit tore kurou up inside something fierce. they ended up breaking up on the day he dropped her off at the airport for her flight to her new home, and it was soo sad because they both wanted to stay together, but the cards hadn’t fallen into place :-( kurou was inconsolable for weeks.

but long story short hahahaha, yes kurou has been in love before and he made sure he let her know about it so loud and clear. i think a part of him will always love her.
