Túrin/Nienor (TOLKIEN) I haven’t talked much about them lately but they’re still the most compelling to me… Part of what keeps me distant from fandom is that I feel like many fans won’t touch this ship with a ten foot pole. So even non-shippy fics or meta ends up OOC, fails to acknowledge how these two are both founding & sinking stones in each other’s lives…Etc…But it doesn’t matter much, I’ve been shipping this by myself for a long time and I’ll probably do it forever 😌

Irene/Eugenides (QUEEN’S THIEF) My current obsession, this ship lets me explore so many things I like :’D

Sandor/Sansa  (ASOIAF) Another ship that lay dormant but that’s re-awakening lately because I keep seeing posts that annoy me lmao. The problem here though is that I love their interactions in canon, and although I’ll be very happy if they meet again (and wish them to do so), I’m perfectly satisfied with what we got!  I genuinely find their arc very touching if heartbreaking, and I love what GRRM is saying — esp. regarding gender and socially-enabled abuse — through them. I think I’m mostly fascinated by the conflict in how these two come into contact with very idealized notions of how they should interact: Protector-protected for Sansa, Preadator-victim for Sandor, and yet no matter how much they try to convince each other AND THEMSELVES to fit into these models, reality imposes itself every time, and then they end up relating to each other as one person to another… It touches me deeply, this theme of the rawness and implacability of perceiving someone else (whether you want to or not!) instead of the idealized version of them. And how it's not necessarily easy to bear, or to live with!! I also love thinking about them in comparison to Theon and Jeyne, who have somewhat similar themes (especially like, the crushing weight of being aware of someone else's humanity/peerness), but somehow managed to free themselves whereas Sandor failed Arya and himself and ‘died’ & Sansa is now at Littlefinger’s mercy. We'll see where that will go, though (or not...it's been 84 years)

I’m reading a bunch of books at the same time right now… Let’s say The Count of Monte Cristo which I hadn’t read before & I’m right in the middle of. I’m reading it in English which feels a little silly, but whatever. It has WAY more orientalism than I ever thought. The psychology of it is also more complicated than I was originally led to believe. I'm fonder of both Franz and Albert than I think I'm supposed to be. I’m halfway through and I can’t believe Dantès owns two slaves...I do love that he’s not beating the vampire allegations.

Raised mostly by her slave mother, Nora. This gives her a different perspective on being Russell's child than her brothers have.

Seeing the conditions her mother lived in, Faith wants revenge against Russell. Notably, this experience hasn't made her particularly anti-slavery though.

Her ultimate plan is to take over Russell's businesses, land, and home.

BIO:

Faith had a rough childhood. Being born to a slave, she was relegated to the slave house on the Fabray land and treated very differently compared to her "legitimate" siblings. At least, that was how she saw it. She was given the bare minimum from her father. She wasn't allowed to attend the same schools as her siblings, to discourage them from mingling and so that less money would be "wasted" on her education. When she would try to openly talk with her siblings, he would shoo her away. While that was traumatising enough, seeing her mother being treated as the slave she was, was just as traumatising. Russell didn't let up on her just because she had given him a daughter.

For most of her childhood, Faith dreamed of running away as soon as she was able to do so. At first she just wanted to get away, no matter what that looked like. No matter if she had a good life for herself out in the real world. But by the time she was eighteen, Faith was angry. She'd had years of being treated different, of seeing the abuse her mother was going through while Camille and Judy were treated like queens in comparison, in Faith's eyes. She wanted more for herself than running away with no money. She wanted to take everything she could from Russell.

She worked on a plan. The first step was to look up the Headmaster at the institute her brothers had enrolled at, and sure enough, he had a record of mismarking students. While the Dominant mark felt right, Faith knew she couldn't let that lie in the hands of a fucking simpleton. She'd manipulate the man, make herself look like the perfect Domme, so he'd have no choice but to give her the mark she needed for her revenge. She spent three years gathering as much money as she could, from a full time retail job, as well as routinely stealing directly from the main Fabray house. She needed a nest egg, in case this all fell apart. She wasn't going to end up like her mother. Faith had backup plans for her backup plans.

It's exactly what I wanted and expected. The Headmaster is a clever man for giving me what I deserve.

Headstrong, independent, loyal, brash, and rebellious Alex Cloudmill comes from the poorer parts of Jorvik City. Rapunzel had tried so hard not to let it get to this point.  She prided herself on being a fast learner, picking things up quickly - even if they were life or death situations.  Save those innocent lives of people who were being traumatized and haunted by spirits who had unfinished business, by demons, by whatever supernatural force crossed their path by choice or just bad luck.  

And simultaneously she had to stop - by any means necessary - those forces who threatened those innocent people.  Which, of course, was the most dangerous part of the job.  At least, in her opinion.  And while she was great at multi-tasking, sometimes she found herself in the middle of the crossfire.  

That wasn’t uncommon, though - sometimes things happened, and when it came to supernatural beings like demons or anything else that had the speed and agility to catch up to the hunters, sometimes there were injuries.  Broken bones, cuts…  

This time, though?  This time was different.  

They’d been hunting a werewolf, something they’d hunted before.  And Rapunzel, being more experienced now than ever, thought she could take the reigns on this one.  Tex was hesitant, but she was just about as stubborn as he, and really the only way to get her to shut up sometimes was to just let her have her way.  At least for a little bit.

But that didn’t go as planned, because Rapunzel had found herself in the middle of the ‘crossfire’ - the claws, more specifically.  And then again, and again and the next thing she knew, she felt the cold ground below her.  

Whether or not Tex finished off the werewolf, she didn’t know, but when she regained consciousness she realized she was in a hospital bed, with him by her side.  Her vision was blurry, almost in a haze, and she was in so much pain. 

“What happened?”

Or at least, that’s what she wanted to say.  She managed to let out a breath, but that was it.  

Tex knew her well enough by now to know what she meant, and he frowned, lowering his gaze to his lap as he sat in the chair by her bedside.  A hand rose, and he placed it to hers, her skin cold.  And he explained to her what happened when she hit the ground - not only was she brutally attacked by the werewolf, but she bled out so much that he genuinely thought she would have died right then and there.  Not only that, but she hit her head pretty hard, too.  The loss of blood, plus the injury to her head…  it didn’t look promising.  

But he had to try, because he’d be damned if he let anything more happen to her.

Normally she would have panicked, but she remained calm.  Perhaps it was the loss of blood that drained her of the energy - that was her first guess, anyway, but of all the times she’d gotten hurt while on a case, this was the first time she actually accepted the prospect of dying.  She’d already been surprised she lasted as long as she had, but if the doctor’s couldn’t do anything or if her injuries were too bad for Tex to fix on his own, then maybe death was the only other option.

Slowly, she moved her head to look at him, cringing from the pain she felt from just moving her head a little.  Looking at him, her expression changed; she didn’t look scared, but concerned for him - even on her deathbed she was concerned for someone else.  She tried to offer him a smile, as if to reassure him ( she assumed he was scared shitless at this point. )

“I haven’t thanked you in a while for what you’ve done for me,” she murmured, her voice barely there.  But she tried so hard.  If these were potentially going to be her last words, she had to try.  “You’ve taught me so much over the years, about myself and what I can do, about life and about a world I never knew existed…  about, so many things and–”

He shook his head, inching closer.  “Everything’s going to be okay, you’re going to be okay.  You aren’t going to die.”

“–I might,” she continued, appreciating his reassurance.  But really, she didn’t want to get his hopes up in case she didn’t make it.  And she didn’t want to get her own hopes up, either.  “I love you.  And I can never thank you enough for saving me, time and time again and for just…  bringing me on so many adventures.  And if��this is really it for me, then I want you to promise me you’ll keep on going.”  Not to avenge her or anything, but because she wanted him to live his best life - hunter or not, it was entirely up to him.

Frank answered the long time question of Donald and Della’s age. On paper, it made sense, and why would Frank lie to us?

Last Christmas grunge teen Donald and Frank’s subsequent ask about Della being a meme icon paints a very 90s picture for Donald and Della.

But the more I think about it, the more the pieces don’t connect. Who doesn’t want to give Frank credit for this tidbit of information, but suspicions persist that his answer was one of his famous OOC ‘Out of Context’ responses.

Don Rosa’s Timeline:

Scrooge McDuck: 1867

Matilda McDuck: 1871

Hortense McDuck: 1876

Quackmore is assumed to be around the same age. It’s possible he could be younger, having been born closer to modern time, but his photograph doesn’t really imply that. I’ll get back to him.

Previous McDuck Sisters post discussed the mysterious and unexplained absence of the McDuck sisters. Of course, it’s obvious this method prevents us from knowing too much that we’re not supposed to know. 

But what aren’t we supposed to know?

Matilda and Hortense exist in this canon. 

It’s been confirmed in-show, but Frank reaffirmed Matilda, Hortense, and Quackmore (the etc) exist in canon, and there’s a plan for them.

‘Our Time Shenanigans’

What an unusual phrase to use for our favorite duck family, but I think this makes the most sense as to a possible explanation as to what happened to MHQ.

Donald and Della are 36.

Frank isn’t lying. Physically, mentally they’re 36, but chronologically, they’re much older than that and probably don’t even realize it. With the classic animated references, Donald and Della were most likely born in 1934, the premiere year of Donald’s debut in the animated short The Wise Little Hen.

But how? How are they so young?

It isn’t like Donald and Della have grandparents living in a castle that grants them immortality as long as they live in said castle?

For some reason, Donald and Della were sent on an extended stay to Grandma and Grandpa’s. I have my theories for that, most likely FOWL/FOWL’S predecessor was hunting them down similar to Lunaris, and their parents managed to time their arrival just right.

Like Della and Scrooge, who silently decided the kids’ safety took priority, Hortense and Quackmore timed their arrival to protect their kids who were now targets of their enemies. 

If family estrangements are a thing, it’s possible Scrooge wasn’t their first choice of guardian but got it by default due to being the wealthiest or something.

That means Donald and Della spent more than thirty years in Castle McDuck, starting at a young age where they really didn’t understand what was going on.

But what about Fethry and Gladstone?

Coot Kin - Duck Family...they’re modest, humble but no less scrappy and adventurous. Clinton Coot founded the Junior Woodchucks, and I don’t think it’s far stretched to say Quackmore’s family may have been able to produce or discover longevity tools. 

Gladstone and Fethry’s parents are much older than people expect, but maybe people expect it since dying of old age isn’t really a thing for these families.

I just don’t believe Donald and Della are as young as they think they are, and depending on how old they were when their parents left, they may not even know it themselves.

"If you had one wish what would it be?" Chat Noir's tail moved lazily along the balcony floor, warming his hands around the mug of hot chocolate his classmate made for him.

It was an unusually chilly night, one Chat Noir admittedly spent cackling over patrolling the streets of Paris alone, courtesy of his lady informing him of the hostile relationship between bugs and the cold. This time, she would be staying in.

Making a detour after his duty was accomplished, Chat Noir found Marinette seemed to dislike the cold too, if the thick blanket draped around her like a burrito was any indication. The only reason he'd even spotted her was the bright light that shone from her windows, sticking out like a sore thumb in the pitch black of the night.

The light from her room hit her hair, bathing her form in a warm orange, her cheeks seeming pink either from the cold or the light, Chat Noir didn't know. All he knew was that the light did a funny trick that made him want to see her more often, so relaxed, so adorable. So warm.

He discreetly watched the girl muse, trying to think of a satisfying answer to his question. It wasn't every day Chat Noir dropped by anymore, much less with a question filled with layers and meanings like this.

One wish?

For what? Anything?

Marinette smiled slightly, fingers reacting distracting patterns on her empty mug. "I...don't think I would make any wish."

The feline hero beside her lifted a curious brow, leaning back against the railings of her balcony. "Really? But why? If you had the choice?"

Ever since Master Fu had come to her once and explained about the miraculous and the wish that could be attained by combining both the ladybug and cat miraculous, the concept of making a wish left a bad aftertaste in her mouth

Marinette shook her head, smiling and instead turned to look at the blond boy in front of her. "What about you Chat Noir? What would your wish be?"

She tilted her head curiously, wondering what her partner would wish for if he had the chance. A date with Ladybug? Cheese? A book about puns?

Chat's expression grew thoughtful and his lips formed into a frown.

The warmth from her room seemed to vanish and an icy chill settled in its place.

'One wish and she would be back.'

Chat Noir shook his head, firmly dislodging the ridiculous idea as his gaze cleared again.

'One wish and someone else would be gone.'

His gaze settled once again on Marinette, who waited patiently for his answer.

Adrien felt his lips quirk into an unbidden smile, and he moved off the railing to stand beside Marinette, looking out at the city. "I think I wouldn't make a wish either."

That surprised her, she was sure he would've wished for something. "Really? Are you sure?" Marinette blinked up at her partner and he briefly glanced back down at her.

"Yeah. I already have everything I need." he offered her a soft grin, the kind that melted her insides and made the butterflies in her stomach come to life.

Marinette turned away, a small smile framed by pink cheeks. "O-Oh..."

It was Chat's turn to stiffen when he felt a weight gently rest against his side, Marinette's head on his shoulder. "I think...I have everything I need too." her hand curled around his bicep and Chat Noir felt his heart jump all the way up to his throat at the action, his own face heating up at his entirely too adorable friend's actions and words.

Taking a shaky breath, Chat Noir returned the gesture, his gloved hand settling on top of her own while his tail wrapped around her leg comfortably.

His head moved to the side to rest against her own and together, they stared at the small lights that seemed to make Paris glow in the night.

It was Chat's soft whisper that shot warmth straight through Marinette's heart. "I'm glad princess."

Marinette smiled, nuzzling into her dark clad hero. "Me too, kitty."

Love your tododeku edits but how do you feel about bakudeku?

Thank you for liking my edits! I really put off answering about bakudeku bc I knew it’s gonna be long, but since it’s not the first ask, here I go lol 

Firstly, I’m just gonna say BNHA is one of the rare (VERY RARE!) fandoms where I “cheated on my otps” aka read fics about other couples without being repulsed (and funny thing, bakudeku isn’t even on the second place in my potential Bakugou ships). 

This is not gonna be a post “this is my ultimate notp” because I really don’t mind this ship, I don’t want to explode my computer when I see bakudeku somewhere, and it’s not gonna be a “because bakugou abused midoriya” post because I have too much fucked up ships, I just want to explain why no matter what my heart lies with tododeku and kiribaku and they’re forever my faves.

I usually ship someone because I think they’re the perfect combination, not only like one can give another something he doesn’t have or needs and complete him, but also in a way where they kinda make each other better versions of themselves, you know. And here comes the main problem. I really REALLY don’t like the way Midoriya is with Bakugou (like a sheep, an absolute carpet with his “k-k-k-kachan” and constant shaking), nor do I like the way Bakugou is when he is with Midoriya. Like saying to him to jump out of the window and kill himself is too much even for me and I can’t say “hey, he just acts like a 5-year old in love” (I mean it’s not like with Dazai and Chuuya where it’s not offensive to say “go shoot yourself” xD). It’s literally like they bring out the worst in each other. 

And I must say when I started watching bnha I was 100% sure bakudeku is gonna be my ship, because hey, u know me “rivals to lovers”, one hides his true feelings under yelling, another is an angel who can melt his heart, they had all the potential to become what I love. Lots of my ships beat the crap out of each other so I didn’t care for that. But it’s been 84 years and Midoriya is still a sheep with him and Bakugou is still yells and spits at him like a wild animal. Which doesn’t really give me much feels compared to Kiribaku where Bakugou smiles when Kirishima saves him and being an absolute sweetheart in “Bakugou style” which I kinda waited to happen in bakudeku but it didn’t.

The thing is when I’ve read bakudeku fics, it’s mostly OOC, like Midoriya talking back to Kachan and handling him just fine and Bakugou being soft in Bakugou measurement.. well.. the way he is with Kirishima in anime (I’m really sorry, but it’s true), so it’s what I wanted to happen, but once again, it didn’t. 

As to why I even prefer todobaku to bakudeku. While the dynamic is similar since Bakugou also thinks of Todoroki as his rival and always yells as much, Todoroki’s reaction is just incredible. I do think they could’ve been a good pair (not just because they’re my two fav characters xD), but because Todoroki wouldn’t put up with Bakugou’s shit and Bakugou actually respects his past, too. Could’ve been good together for many reasons.. but not the best.

Which brings me to the incredible things that happen with tododeku and kiribaku. Kirishima is not only unaffected by Bakugou’s behavior, he actually finds it endearing and turns it into a cuteness overload, he can make him smile (!!!!!!), hold his hand and make him do things others wouldn’t dare to ask, which is basically Bakugou in every todobaku or bakudeku fanfiction, but he is really that way with Kirishima. 

And then tododeku (also “rivals to lovers” u know me)… I don’t want to start with this bc I’m afraid to write an essay about how perfect they are for each other… I mean, Midoriya has literally made Todoroki whole (you know how I love this stuff!!!!) and I mean Shouto needs some warmth after all he’s been through, I think he’s had enough of shit and deserves all the hugs and loving and Midoriya is perfect for hugging and Izuku needs appreciation for his incredible heart and Todoroki is the one who knows the worth of kindness and caring, which makes me cry for some reason like in that fic when he said “I just don’t get it.. how can somebody joke about loving you.” BITCH U ALL JUST READ IT and say how can u not ship it.

So my point is.. I don’t think bakudeku is the perfect combination or even a very good combination (in fact with all my love for gays I’d even prefer bakuchako to bakudeku, because she actually shows spine with Bakugou). So unless Midoriya has a hardcore humiliation kink I can’t really appreciate them together. 

Plus, I really love Tododeku and Kiribaku too much I guess, because even though I really REALLY enjoy Todobaku, at the end I’m like “nah, they still don’t make my heart go that crazy”. 

P.S. I really hope I didn’t offend anybody, because it’s not like some other fandoms where I’m very strict about my preference, here I get it with all my heart as to how good it could be in fantasies, Bakudeku seems like a classic fake hate to love ship, it’s just somehow for me it’s missing the point of what those ships usually have. Such as “only he can make his heart melt”, like sorry, Kirishima somehow got there first and in shorter time xD
