rewatched Kurogiri's holiday story from ultra impact (not related to sketch at all)
(but it did inspire me)
on another note
finally!!
#fanart#sketch#my art#bnha#shigaraki tomura#tenko shimura#kurogiri#I cried a bit while playing it I missed the classic LoV I missed Kurogiri WITH the LoV it's been so long :(#and it feels like last chapter (423 atm) broke the seal of sketching them as anything but something static#it took me two or so days to just understand that Kurogiri is... yeah#I can't believe it took Horikoshi so long to bring him back but as I said and will say it again I glad it happened at all#after some thought I just want to sit with the chapters#anyway getting the preordered book was so much fun#it was full of LoV from Toga and Dabi talking about her house to Tenko being upset over being told that he doesn't have friends#and everything in-between basically only Compress left to join in the next volume#I think????#I actually want to get another one already they're so goodddd#and the translation sounds pretty good but I checked some pages not the whole book it'll be boring#it's actually so weird to think that I started a goal of reading the whole series ad it was now officially coming out like this back in 201#and now it's 2024 and the translation is pretty much ahead of anime and maybe it'll be faster than viz volumes too#since it's 2 in 1 basically - I think it's really great since I save some money but get LoV chapters every time#because they appear every 2 books at the start of the series and back then it was hard for me to get them#but I felt content seeing all the books that I bought when I was visiting family for holidays this month because there are so many of them#and I don't need any wi-fi or internet in general to read them back to back now with an addictional volume#they have some mistakes but I don't mind them it feels good to just hold all of them (and a bit heavy after like 8 books) and now it's 18

Road To Ruin
start of a postapocalyptic fantasy series set in an Asian-inspired desert world plagued by dangerous storms
follows a courier who transports romantic letters between a prince and princess, who helps the princess escape across the wastes towards the prince’s safe haven
but they’re pursued by bounty hunters, and accidentally uncover some ancient secrets. and also she’s in love with both of them
dinosaurs, magical motorbikes,
bi MC, start of polyam triad
#Road To Ruin#aroaessidhe 2024 reads#I enjoyed this overall!#a fun fast paced adventure set in a mad max-esque world with dinosaurs and magic.#quite liked the polyamorous love triangle going on - I even liked the guy which is a win.#It does start with them all already having a crush on each other so we kinda miss seeing how that developed in the first place#but I think I prefer this considering the book is only set over a number of days.#It is unfortunate that the magic is called mana.#But that is so deeply entrenched in fantasy that I guess I can’t critique any individual book for it that hard.#I will say - I read assuming it’s YA and only now after finishing it it seems to apparently be adult.#the worldbuilding and character relationships felt more YA to me - and I don’t mean that as an insult#I just probably would have expected more complexity in certain areas if I knew this was adult. I dunno.#all the ending is like. everything is wrapped up about the narrative (as much as i care about now anyway) but the relationship is Not#I did not realise it would be a series. but also I don't feel like I want any more of the plot other than this one thing?#bisexual books#polyamorous books

Worm Arc 23 thoughts:
So much happened in so few chapters, how do I even break this down?!?
First off, Colin had better stop fucking bonding with my daughter! And apologizing and making amends for past wrongs! I'm a huge fan of redemption arcs and second chances and that is being used against me! JUST LET ME HATE THIS MAN!!!!!!
My bug daughter is in prison but that's almost like, a minor side thing? It barely matters right now except that it gives some background structure. Compared to everything else the prison bit is just . . . a thing.
I'm in tears over bug horse. I'm bawling. I may never recover. RIP Atlas, you were the best of us.
TAYLOR GOES TO THERAPY!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED!!!!!!
I love Jessica so much! She does such a good job. I want to bake her cookies as thanks but I'm not sure if that would trigger some type of conflict of interest.
Fucking Glenn. I want to hate him and love him all at the same time.
Is he an artist? Absolutely! He has a vision and it is beautiful.
But also if it comes down to "letting the world end or compromising said vision" he might be the kind of person who would watch the world burn with a tear running down his cheek, because at least it was beautiful.
Look I get it. My daughter is terrifying. But that isn't because bugs are scary. It's cause my daughter is terrifying. Making her use butterflies just means a bunch of people are gonna start having butterfly phobias.
Like come on, Clockblocker gets to break fundamental forces of the universe and cause people to question their very existence!
Do not try to tell me that someone getting time frozen and just . . . skipping a chunk of time because their mind is not part of the time stream for a few minutes would not provoke some deep thoughts of existential dread! Sure not in everyone, but not everyone is scared of bugs either! I just think it's very unfair.
The Adepts are fun. Sure powers aren't "magic" but might as well have fun with the idea! Besides it seems to be working and if I had powers I'd absolutely love to lean into a magical focus idea.
I am quite upset about the fact that during the whole Thirteenth Hour thing Weaver didn't get to shove bugs down Clockblocker's throat to save him. It would have been so poetic. Saving the day by shoving bugs down throats was still super amazing, I just wanted it to be Clockblocker.
It was the most extreme level of active awareness and minor "control" while being disabled that we've seen from Taylor so far though! Really curious to get more into that, the nature of passengers/shards, and all those things. I have so many thoughts, but they're all just speculation right now (I don't think writing 75 pages of theories that all end up being wrong is really gonna be very helpful).
“If anyone asks, you kicked their asses with butterflies.” Clockblocker gets it!
It was really cool to get more into different vibes of the world with the Vegas section! I love me some thinkers and strangers.
I'm very glad The Number Man used a sniper rifle. I would have been a little disappointed if he didn't after getting into his head in his interlude - it is just the perfect weapon for him. Motherfucker over here just bouncing bullets.
Finally got to see more Bambina after the little bit in arc 8. Her power is wild, I love it! Also Bambina's mom just shot right into the top contenders for "worst parent in Worm". Like, WTF lady.
August Prince is wild. Sucks when the most effective use of your power is "human shield" though.
Considering she had an interaction with The Number Man and Contessa, Taylor actually came out of it pretty good! Sure they lost the target they were trying to bring in, but I don't know that they really had a chance of keeping Pretender. Contessa isn't easy to stop.
The only problem I have with the Las Vegas Wards actions is hiring Bambina to break Pretender free. Otherwise ya, fucking ditch the Protectorate. Given the information they have it makes sense.
TAYLOR HAS FAN MAIL!!!!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
Grue's letter was way to heartfelt. Tattletale clearly wrote most of it.
Like come on: "I could hit you, hug you, yell at you and hold onto you for hours all at the same time. It’s fitting that I want to kiss you and throttle you at the same time because that’s what you were to me for a long time. You drive me crazy and I can never understand what’s going through your head." This is totally Tattletale! She couldn't flirt with Taylor in her own letter, she had to be sneaky about it!
"You’re an idiot. I want you to know that. You’re an idiot, Skitter. You’re brilliant and reckless and I’m betting it makes sense to you to do this but you’re an idiot." - also Tattletale.
LOOK I'M GONNA MAKE THIS SHIT GAY AND THERE ISN'T ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO STOP ME!!!!!!!
Imp's letter might be my favorite.
Tattletale's actual letter ends with "See you there, hun?" Just. So fucking gay. Sorry I don't make the rules.
Speaking of gay, Rachel's letter!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wolfspider wolfspider wolfspider!
Like I mean come on
"Being around you wasn’t simple or quiet but things made more sense. Your minion with dark hair said we need to be around people but I’m around people and still feel somethings missing." GAY
"Going to take puppies to your place again soon. Show the kids to them. Might help." SO GAY
"You have plan, okay. But if your plan means you’re thinking about fighting us you should know I am getting very good at hunting and skinning things." HOLY SHIT IT'S THE MOST LESBIAN THING EVER
"We both stay alive. Try hard." TOP-TIER GAY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!
GGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY
AND THE SCENE WITH THE CHILDREN!!! AND THE BUTTERFLIES! AND THE DICE!!!!!!!!!!!
dies of joy
Seriously, 23.4 is the most beautiful chapter in Worm so far and it'll be very hard for it to be outdone.
I could talk about just that chapter for pages. It was perfect in every way. Even if I knew it had to end with Behemoth pretty early on. There was too much hope in that chapter for it to end any other way.
But in the middle of all that downward "oh fuck it's Behemoth" stuff we got an Undersiders reunion! With so much gay!
Like - “But you guys mean a lot to me. I’m sorry I didn’t say it before, but I couldn’t without letting on that something was going on. You’re my family, in a way. As lame as it might be, I love you guys.” My head turned from Grue to Rachel to Tattletale as I said it.
SO FUCKING GAY
She starts at Grue sure but ends with Rachel and Lisa when saying "I love you". Certified gay.
So gay that even Imp agrees! Though I've been doing the long drawn out “Gaaaaaaayyyyyyy” since like arc 2. So Imp is a bit behind the curve here.
TAYLOR WANTS TO GO ON A DOG PARK DATE WITH RACHEL! IT'S THE MOST LESBIAN DATE POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!
Weaver's new flight suit is pretty neat. Dragon is a pretty good big sister.
Cody Interlude thoughts:
THIS motherfucker! I was waiting for him to show up again.
I am so mad. I'm so fucking mad.
Cody is the worst. He's pathetic and dumb.
And Accord just has to go and get killed by him in the dumbest way! GOD DAMMIT ACCORD I SIMPED FOR YOU SO HARD!!! AND THEN YOU DIE TO CODY! OF ALL PEOPLE! YOU CAN'T BE COOL IF YOU DIE TO CODY!
Chevy too! I thought he was cool and all, but he had to die to Cody. God. The worst.
ALSO MY BABY GIRL HE TRIED TO HURT MY BABY! THE ONE WHO ISN'T MY DAUGHTER!
SOMEBODY HELP TATTLETALE!
I did like seeing more of the mechanics of the Yàngbǎn after getting hints about how they work in the Lung interlude.
The power sharing plus the power amplification is a pretty broken combo tbh. Feels like there is some pretty neat stuff that could be accomplished with that.
Fuck this man though. Simmy just had to whisper to him and just dove right in. Cody can't even conceptualize what fighting back means, that would require him to grow as a person in literally any way.
Sucks for the Behemoth fight though. I guess my daughters are going to have to save the day. Again.
#Worm#Worm Web Serial#Parahumans#Cairavende reads Worm#Weaver#Taylor Hebert#Dragon#Wolfspider#Chatterbug#Smugbug#I'm excited to see what super cool shit Taylor manages to do during the Behemoth fight.#And if we're lucky Cody will get stepped on#I'm happy the Chicago Wards want Weaver. I like Tecton. If she is gonna be a Ward they're the best option.#And my robot daughter can talk again! At least a tiny bit. I'm so proud of her!#I'm kinda surprised Foil wasn't already taken for cape names TBH#I'd assume at this point most short words like that would be unavailable. Like trying to make a tumblr account in 2024.#Fucking Colin#Seriously though I'm so mad at roboman over here!#He was so easy and fun to hate but he keeps actually trying to be better and I just want to hate him!#But noooooooo. Frank Miller's Armsmaster had to go and try to make amends!#Sure he still messes up a bunch so I can hang on to that for now#But he keeps improving!#I see the trajectory of his character arc. It's beautiful and I'm SO FUCKING MAD!#. . . I'm being trolled in real time by a 13 year old book. 5/5 stars.

Books of 2024: What I'd Like To Read By The End Of The Year.
I was feeling ~Whelmed~ over the weekend about all the things I still want to read, and I thought to myself, "Gee Why Is That??", so I pulled everything off my shelf and stacked it up basically in the order I'd like to read it and then went "....ah I see, carry on."
Now this stack WOULD be fine, except everything from ALWAYS COMING HOME down through HOUSE OF LEAVES is stuff I'd like to read adjacent to writing projects, namely: 1. IN BETWEEN (which I'm working on now but need to wrap up by the end of August) and then 2. NANO (which, y'know. Starts on November 1). So the sixteen (16) books between ACH and HOL are for the next three (3) months, and then I'll come back for the side-leaners during/after NaNo, I think.
(Not pictured in this stack is STARLING HOUSE, which I don't have in hand yet but will also be a NaNo Prep book!)
Basically my plan is to read down through this stack in this order and see how long it takes me! I finally got set up with my coworking space today, so hopefully I'll be writing late a couple nights a week starting. tomorrow. Which. will eat into reading time pretty significantly, hopefully.
But there's so much cool stuff I want to read! And write! And knit!! You see why I'm having A Time, huh.
#books#books of 2024#book stack#book photo#book photography#my photography#also tagging as:#in btw#nano2024#fortunately the haunted bookstore and ambergris kind of blur/fuzz my two writing projects#that's why they're in the middle--transitional#ACH through UNEXPECTED PLACES are the driscoll ones on deck by the end of the month#everything under ambergris is flagged as nano prep#can you tell i'm going to try to write a haunted house book lmao#SELF-PORTRAIT WITH NOTHING and SPIDER AND HER DEMONS are also driscoll adjacent#but i think i'm gonna have to pause those til after nano#(which is fine because it'll be nice to have some driscoll to get back into circa december/january to get back into the vibes)#and then HOW TO BE EATEN and DAWN are leftovers from my 24 in 2024 list that aren't accounted for in the rest of this stack or already read#anyway fuck the dayjob i could do all the things i wanted if i didn't burn 50+ hours a week on capitalism adjacent bullshit#(i work 40hrs and ONLY 40hrs dont worry but. the admining around the job is bullshit and we count that in our time)#(commute plus prep plus packing plus food plus outfits....ugh)#ANYWAY SIXTEEN BOOKS BETWEEN NOW AND NANO ISN'T TOO BAD RIGHT#I'M GONNA GO SHOWER AND READ ACH BYEEE

question: how do you find your research/sources? yours and dancing disasters' icemav fics are so inside baseball i love it, but how do you go about doing research?
I just read a lot & google stuff I don't know & am curious about. not that hard to start learning. and in terms of reading I've been interested in military history & milfiction my whole life. mostly related to the US army, actually--im extremely new to naval history and naval literature; all of that interest was driven by top gun. I've also been fortunate enough to visit a lot of the places I write about--ive been to Pearl Harbor a couple times & San Diego MANY times, for instance, and I've toured a few aircraft carriers and military bases. I've also finally bitten the bullet and kinda shifted my career path towards aerospace, so I've been learning a lot just by working in the aerospace & defense sector/spending a lot of time with people who do.
that's obviously not to say that I am somehow Educated in all this stuff. im pretty open on this blog about me being young & naive & wrong much of the time about how the real world works. so, you know, a lot of shit I just Make Up according to my preconceived notions of the military & the world.
here is my recommended military/navy reading list, some fiction and some nonfiction.
someone also asked recently if I had read anything good in the last 6 months--yes!! three new additions to my reading list: a) Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk by Ben Fountain. So goddamn good. If you have to read only one novel about the Iraq War, make it this one. It's more about America than it is about Iraq. b) Redeployment by Phil Klay. This one is a collection of short stories about Marines in Iraq, written by a USMC vet, talk about inside baseball. Crazy amounts of jargon in here, basically a "to-google" list. won the national book award which idk if it deserved, but it's good. c) No true glory: A Frontline Account of the Battle of Fallujah by Bing West. currently reading this one, really well done so far, talks a lot about how fucked the US strategy was in Iraq with Fallujah serving as a metonymy/case study for the war itself.
again... this is all mostly close-quarters-combat (infantry) literature, I really am not that interested in the navy/Air Force that much outside of top gun lol
though I did recently remember that in early 2022, before I was into top gun, I read "Wingmen" by Ensan Case, which is actually a gay US naval aviator romance set in WWII published in 1979! it's really authentic and kind of sad, obviously, since it was a 1940s navy gay love story published in 1979. I don't actually think Wingmen influenced how I wrote wwgattai or how I think of TG/TGM but I just remembered that I read that book in February 2022 and going "oh my god they were wingmen" so maybe you might find that book interesting.
#dancingdisaster's 'men like us' Directly inspired wwgattai and is the only other icemav/TG fic Ive ever read so I owe them a lottt#that fic opened my third eye as to 'omg what if ice lived' & then 'omg what if maverick died & ice never told him he loved him'#leading to my fics#thanks for the ask! PLEASE read billy Lynns long halftime walk#if for no other reason than its the best book I've read in 2024 and im already 12 books deep into 2024#its so well written...... should be on the shortlist for the best great American novel......#a scathing indictment of the American christian conservative.... mmm I eat it up good soup#top gun#military history#guys I just found out yesterday that my ex whom I haven't talked to in 2 years has been stalking my twitter &#has seen me gushing about my gay top gun fanfiction#well he shouldn't have stalked my twitter ... genuinely insane behavior this is why I ended things#love men

top 10 books of 2023!!
thank you for tagging me, @elskanellis! i started drafting this right away, ran out of time to post it on 12/31, and am ~circling back now. i read 50 books in 2023, and these are my top 10 faves!
titles, brief #thoughts, etc. under the cut!
Himself, by Jess Kidd
this was so incredible and heart-wrenching and exciting to read. devastatingly beautiful/cheerful dirtbag lad busts into a small irish village to find out what happened to his mother, who was almost certainly murdered, and turns everything upside down. every character is so entertaining and funny and sharp, even the villains. the ending is incredible.
The Winners, by Fredrik Backman
i'd recommend this whole series, even if you don't care about hockey; it's so, so good and emotionally devastating. at its base, the series is about a hockey team in sweden, but really, this series belongs to the character of Benji Ovich, and it's a masterclass in building up a queer hero. it's unflinching in dealing with all that he goes through, and handles a lot of really difficult topics with deftness. the heart of his story, for me, is the question of what happens when you're in love with your best friend who is actually a despicable, evil person, and how can you ever forgive yourself for it?
The Iliad, translated by Emily Wilson
do i have to evangelize this one anymore? it's so fucking good. i've read it about 10 times at this point, i just couldn't bring myself to be finished with it. it's so refreshing and approachable and makes every single character leap off the page. it doesn't pull a single emotional punch (because homer doesn't! and wilson's like "don't look away!")
A Map for the Missing, by Belinda Huijuan Tang
this is one of those books that really comes together as a whole; i didn't know it was going to be a fave until i was finished with it. a chinese immigrant has to go back home to help search for his elderly father, who's gone missing. as he goes, every single thread of his past is tugged on and unravelled and the complexity and depth the narrative achieves is really astounding. the last few pages are an absolute gut-punch.
A Power Unbound, by Freya Marske
purely here for how it redeemed the entire series for me. i'm actually not a big romance person, though i did read more romance than ever this year; i just usually tend to get bored with the same sorts of romance tropes over and over (probably because that's what i read fic to get, not tradpub novels). this one doesn't do anything new or reinvent those tropes or anything, it's just really, really good and engaging and hot. the romance outshines the magic system/plot by far. i'd recommend the series overall, but this one has the best relationship in it AINEC.
Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries, by Heather Fawcett
why do i always like middle grade authors who pivot to adult books waaay more than YA authors who do the same? like how are they so much better? that's definitely the case here. this is really fun fairy book (i went through a fairy phase over the summer) and packed a surprising emotional punch and a really lovely romance. i think it helped that the main character have major howl and sophie vibes. i'm excited for the sequel to come out in a few weeks!
Slewfoot, by Brom
god this was absolutely horrifying and brutal and also incredible? i actually can't believe this is here because it lost me through some of the worst of the witch trial torture (it goes really hard on it, as a warning, and i almost stopped there. her poor cat :/ i can almost never handle it when a cat dies) but!! i'm glad i stuck through because of the ending, which is phenomenal and makes every other bit of it worth it. the mythology is terrific and terrifying, too.
Small Things Like These, by Claire Keegan
possibly the best novella i've ever read? it just packs an incredible punch; it doesn't waste a single word, every square inch is a devastating look at the magdalene laundries and it doesn't hold back at all. so, so good.
Half a Soul, by Olivia Atwater
i'm so glad i discovered olivia atwater this year! this was during the Fairy Phase and it was just really fun and engaging. again, big howl and sophie vibes (this is such a high compliment from me) and i really love the second book in this series, too. it's just a really fun world to get lost in, and i'm excited to read more from this author this year.
He Who Drowned the World, by Shelley Parker-Chan
i had some problems with this, and i didn't love it as much as the first book, though i actually think most of those problems could've been solved with a third book and a longer runway. really wish this was a trilogy. that being said, this was still incredible. i loved every single narrative thread, there were zero emotional punches pulled, and i still think about these characters all the time. read this series if you haven't!!
#book talk#bookblr#2023 reads#book reviews#book recs#excited for 2024 already; i'm going back to 40 books lol#50 was too much pressure#40 is good because if i read more then it's just gravy!

Books read in June <3
Sturmküsse auf Juist by Tina Winter
Pride Began At Christopher Street by Christian Handel and Andreas Suchanek
Gefangen in Purpur und Schatten (Spiegelstadt 2) by Christian Handel and Andreas Suchanek
Die Magie goldgewebter Herzen by Eleanor Bardilac
Sonnenkönig, Pechrabe by Kai Spellmeier
This was by far my most productive reading month (mostly thanks to my Norderney vacation)! I loved every single of these books so much (they’re all queer by the way, in honor of pride month I say as if most books I read aren’t queer anyway)
They were fun and cute and interesting and I’m so happy I got my hands on them. Also special shout out for Sonnenkönig, Pechrabe because I read it for the third time now and it has yet again proven to be my favorite book (or one of them) (finally can cross rereading my favorite book off of my book bingo card now ^^)
#posting this earlier this month cause I’m sick and won’t finish the other book I planned on finishing this month#translation of the German books’ titles:#stormy kisses on Juist#(the second one is already an English title so yay)#trapped in crimson and shadows#the magic of gold woven hearts#sun king (idk how to best translate Pechrabe so let’s just say) raven#writer speaks#my 2024 reads#books#reading

June books roundup
I got Covid the first of July and then went on vacation (after I had recovered and was no longer testing positive) for a week with my family.
- Bunt! Striking Out on Financial Aid by Ngozi Ukazu. A cute comic, if a litttttle heavyhanded.
- The Book That Wouldn't Burn by Mark Lawrence. This took me forever to read. It picked up the second half, but it still felt like a slog - maybe because most of it featuring a huge library that the protagonist just ran down endlessly. It ended on a cliffhanger of course and it's a to-be-published trilogy, but I'm not sure I'll finish the series.
- Exit Strategy by Martha Wells (audiobook). The fourth Murderbot story. I enjoyed seeing all of our friends from the first book, even if I couldn't figure out what the villain would have taken one of the characters captive.
- The Guncle Abroad by Steven Rowley. I loved The Guncle, it was such an unexpected emotional exploration about family and grief. This was not as good, a little more mean and a lot more superficial.
- The Museum of Rain by Dave Eggers. My favorite musician wrote a beautiful song based around this story. There are some absolutely lovely sentences packed in this story and it's left me mediating on memory and finding beauty and the legacy we leave.
- Wolfsong by TJ Klune. It's a gay werewolf series, which thankfully, did not feature knotting!

Most Ardently
YA historical romance
retelling of Pride & Predudice following a closeted gay trans boy who’s expected to attend balls and look for suitors
he sneaks out at night dressed as a boy, and ends up spending a lot of time with a boy who’d been rude to him at a function, but is more open with him like this
as they grow closer, and he faces increasing pressure to get married and to be a proper woman, and has to decide how he’s going to face his future
#Most Ardently#aroaessidhe 2024 reads#this is very sweet I enjoyed it#I can’t really speak to it as a retelling because I’m not intimately familiar with the original but. pretty good I think.#I liked how he was already out to some people& his coming out to everyone else was pretty smooth/accepting (other than his mother initially#really the only transphobia comes from the antagonist a bit and I guess in general him being closeted for most of the story#- like there’s no real fear of super bad things happening as a reader#and of course marlowe lune’s cover is fantastic#romancing over shared interest in books is always good

"Write about a business whose commitment to social responsibility you admire"
Well ... I did not expect to find out such depressing information to start this paper.
What a miserable world.
On the plus side, I'm less critical of boycotting as a form of collective action, because honestly what else you gonna do. I use to think it was pointless, but honestly if you can organize it, than it's something and something is always better than nothing.
#I chose penguin random house#at first it was solely for the fact that they peovide access to books especially classics and then i found out they REALLY provide books#and now im depressed and floored that book bans are seriously still a think in the year of our lord 2024?#idk if i used that phrase correctly#either way#also i already knew companies were bad#i was complaining all day about having to pick a company for social responsibility when its all lies anyways#and omg#literally im sorry wtf#reading about wanting to overturn international human rights protection laws and checking the date to see 2005 made me lose my mind

I started reading EragonxRed QueenxFrom Blood and Ashx--oh, shit sorry.... 4th Wing today, because everyone in my reading group said I had to, and... I'm 7% of the way through and I'm already so tired. Did no one edit this book? Did no one... read this book out loud?
Me currently finishing chapter 1 and going through the 5 stages of grief because I know this whole experience is going to RUIN my reading for 2024.
Anyway, I'm writing a whole ass review that is pretty much line by line my thoughts XD If I make a google doc of it I'll let people read it. Might be more entertain than the book. 🤷🏼♀️ plus I'll only put like 0.1%-1/4 of it on Goodreads so think about what you might miss out on (me being upset and cranky and rutheless (((: ) Updating that doc might actually help me get through reading it faster.
#about me#fourth wing#who wants to join me on this quest???#cause god damn if it does not feel like a fucking chore already#maybe I should just listen to the audiobook. It would probably go faster#my reading#my tbr for 2024 is exactly 12 books long#and unfortunately this and iron wing or whatever the second one is called are on there#i have never been afriad to be an anti#and I aint starting now#I dont care how dope your YA cardboard cutout male love interest is#I will rip his jugular out with my teeth if he's boring as fuck#and I will tear your “I'm so frail and weak and tiny with curves cause what else makes me a woman” MC apart#I will clean my teeth with her bones#You would think I would have learned my lesson about reading “books booktok is raving about” but no I have not#and I'm about to learn it again#like a dog that keeps pulling on the leash#(*shut up lily*)#(*lily reads fourth wing*)#new tag to follow if you are interested
