pairing: baseball player!vernon x fashion designer/fan!reader wc: ... warnings: nothing (my procrastination) a/n: hi!! erm so part 2 is taking longer than i thought because i refuse to work properly ig... so im taking it up for myself to post the first excerpt of part 2 and I PROMISE PART 2 WILL BE UP BY THE END OF THIS WEEK.

In 3 weeks, you go to 6 home games. 

Which, in retrospect, is absolutely crazy because that’s averaging two (2!) games per week in the brunt of design finalizing and fashion week scrapbooking and planning with your team. 

And now, the one you’re sitting at seems to up your count from six to seven games in 3 weeks. Which means that your assistant will be calling you sometime next week asking if you ever finished finalizing the fashion week scrapbooks and tulle selections (only one of which you’ve actually finished. The other…. Well, let’s just say that it won’t be seeing the light of day for a while). Which also is part of your explanation to why you are busy multitasking between texting Yena, your assistant, on the last flap stitches for your fold-over bag for the F/W collection, gluing pieces of fabric and drawing cut-outs and print outs and colors down onto your scrapbook, and watching the actual baseball game and participating in half-assed and quarter-minded fanchants that seem to have no soul in it. 

All in that exact order. 

And it’s even harder to balance (especially your phone that teeters precariously off your knee because your actual table is too full of food, beer, and your scrapbooking trash pile) when your phone chimes with a familiar notification.

You almost choke on your beer that was travelling half-way down your esophagus, coughing violently and trying not to get drops of Cass onto your scrapbook. 

For the first time in almost fifteen minutes, you raise your head, swiveling to try and see where the hell Vernon is texting you from because not only is it the middle of the seventh inning but it’s also the middle of his game. 

And he never goes on his phone during games.

You roll your eyes at his text. Yo? Really? But also, typical Vernon. Almost three months – texting, calling, showing up to games, post-game chicken runs, and the occasional late-night movie theater run at Coex – made you accustomed to his rather nonchalant way of saying hi. Those including (but definitely not limited to) yo, hey, bro, dude, whats up, lol, and show cat now as in your actual feline pet, not your pussy (which you thought at first was what he was implying and almost blocked him before he clarified with a photo of his own cat that you were too scared to open for the first three minutes, thinking it was an unsolicited dick pic). 

You pause before you reply, placing the glue stick down.

It’s a lie. A blatant one at that. But you feel bad telling Vernon hahaha no lol was too busy working on my pfw scrapbooking and model calls to be focused on ur game im at.

ANYWAY i decided to procasinate hard and do this instead so ENJOYYY

the dress: instead of their father's suit, which filbrick gave to ford directly for his future wedding, i imagine that after caryn dies, ford decided to take her (and filbrick's) clothes too and keep them in safe keeping along with other stuff from their parents, to one day figure out what to do with them. after stan takes over the shack, stan finds caryn's dress and tries to fit it on. it doesnt fit her, but hey thats what corsets and stitches are for! (i drew her corset-less here cuz itd be hot ok djdjdhdh)

the necklace: i wanted to incorporate stan's cipher wheel symbol in this drawing SOMEHOW and what better than a gold necklace? i think this is definitely belonged to their parents too and stan honestly mistaked it as a botched attempt at an eclipse (fits the Miss Terious vibes to be all about the moon and stars right?), until she realizes it matches their dad's fez😭

bracelets and earings: their caryn's. mommas girl. also ford has mommy issues so he hates seeing them

shoes: honestly made them match the cane so the colors wouldnt be so off balanced lmao

ring: fake diamond, almost gave ford a heart attack thinking his sister got married while he was gone, and he gets a heart attack when he realizes she did . in vegas. for a day😭 lame ass. its not even on the right finger

shes DEFINITELY more like caryn in this case

i think i also def see her wearing their dad's suit jacket when on work. i think she WOULD wear the fez and just a normal gold necklace, maybe even fake pearls for the real fancy shit, but i hate drawing that fez so you get my stupid improvised one jdjdjdn

AHHH thank you so much for your response!! <3 pressing the submit button was so so nerve wracking to me, but you made this next ask feel so much easier and less anxiety-inducing :3 i fear you'll receive a lot more asks relating to sawamura daichi in the future, he's absolutely my favourite character and i love love love the way you portray him!! (and same honestly, i could ramble on about him for days.) finding you on ao3 made me feel like i struck diamond so thanks so much for giving me that experience too! <3

on that note, are there any daichi moments from the anime/manga that stand out to you?? i cant stop thinking about the fact that despite putting in every ounce of effort he had into building karasuno (finding them a manager, encouraging suga and asahi to train hard in their first year, taking up the role of coach when they didn't have one, etc etc), he was ready to step aside after the inter-highs because he thought he might hold the new crows back from their true potential. its honestly so heart wrenching to see him doubt himself like that, and it takes so much love and strength to be able to step aside despite all the work he put in (much like suga, who stepped aside for kageyama). i feel it really encapsulates daichi as a character too

Okay it took me a long time to decide because there are LOTS of little moments of him I adore. But ultimately what kept coming back to me is this fucking clocked out moment he has, and let me tell you why:

First of all, goof ass expression. dude is so zoned out nothing is getting into his brain.

but the reason I love this so much is mostly due to a really specific headcanon I have: Upon first viewing, I thought: "oh, its after the STZ match and in he's just really exhausted"

but then I kept thinking about the context. specifically, that within the canon of the timeline, Daichi gets his tooth knocked out of his head, plays a *second* game, and then plays Stz the next day. IE; dude hasnt gone to a dentist.

now, i question you: have you ever had a tooth knocked out of your head? Or... Even just chipped a tooth? That shit HURTS. it is a constant, constant ache. Dude would have been walking into the STZ match with a face that was possibly swelling - we see the goddamn bruise (do you know how hard you have to hit to leave damage like that? To knock a tooth out?) - and undoubtedly he played the whole match in a lot of pain. and probably on the bare minimum of pain killers, bc Idk about you but if youve ever tried to take strong ass pain medication and then *run around* it doesnt really work. theres a reason pain medications of a certain strength and above are prescription.

So I propose to you: this wonderfully silly moment of Daichi is not, in fact, him being merely tired after the match. this is a Daichi who stepped off the court and immediately had Takeda force feed him the legal limit of medication and is currently so high on OTC meds you could stab him and he wouldnt notice. dude is on that extra strength night time level shit. If he stood up he would fall over. He probably will wake up in the morning and have no idea what happened after those meds kicked in. This dinner will be a black spot in his memory.

Design process under here (whole lot of yapping)

General thoughts: Ive given them in my previous design sheet (you can find it in my blog)(tldr: designs match characters but still childish, 8-12 years old). Only thing different here, is that these eggs were eggs who I had less of a clear idea of what I wanted to do with them (though I still really liked where I ended up!!)

Empanada: Didnt want to go for the full sweet lolita route, mostly because I thought it'd take away the "little kidness" of it all, but something that still resembles the aesthetic. She's wearing "carneirinhos" (idk the name in english) which is very cute little girl to me, and shes also a demon! Her tail resembles a frying pan!! Though I might change her fringe (it was supposed to be baby hairs but now that I think about it, her type of hair probably wouldnt have them) and put some argyle pattern in her sweater vest. I just forgor💀 to do that...I also wish I had made her shorter, but unfortunetely I drew this before the eggs did the height check (YES ITS BEEN THAT LONG).

Sunny: My beautiful baby girl. She means the world to me. I love this minecraft egg with all my heart. Shes wearing Light up sketchers and some fairy wings like Pomme, and shes actually wearing a swimsuit, she just put a tutu over it. The diamonds they're always holding are rings, they have a "terere" in their hair (idk name in english😭😭) and the beads were inspired by an artist on twt (@\BLUETOMATOSODA). Also if you are wondering why her hair looks like tentacles, its because I had originally made it puffy, but changed my mind after doing the lineart, so i had to get creative with me covering it up. Just pretend she has a fan, shes a star after all!

Pepito: Basically, he is very smoll. Chiquito even. He has strawberry hair and MASSIVE glasses that take up his entire face. Hes wearing a swimsuit aswell (dont ask how it works idk either), and has floaties since he cant swim. Hes got crocs, since flip flops hurt his toes, with a spider man charm on them! Also hes got a sunhat, mostly cause I wanted some other accessorie but didnt want to go with gas mask since it'd kinda kill the whole swimming vibe (since his model is wearing a swimsuit). sorry if its not too accurate to his character. Side note: Him, Em and Sunny all have freckles! Him and Sunny all over their bodies while Em just has on her cheeks.

Leo: Cute sporty vibe, love her shorty spiky hair. Wanted to try to make her face spiky aswell, for the whole shark dad thing. Shes got a necklace with a shark tooth (I guess she got it from Foolish??). He changes tshirts randomly, and opens and closes his attack on titan hoodie depending on the tshirt's expression (basically my version of Leo changing her player heads constantly). His trainers have dragon wings and also: whealies!!

Dapper: Im gonna be honest: did not expect to like his design THIS much. The colouring really elevated, with the long blue hair (the same colour as the ghosties!). Wanted to make them, y'know, dapper, so I had to sacrifice some of the "little kid vibes" unfortunetely, but I think it fits her still. The hat has part of the helmet that they used to wear a lot, demon horn to match Pomme, and a suit that is VERY inspired by Death the Kid from Soul Eater (very fitting for a reaper in training imo). Might be my favourite design!

Ramon: Jesus fuck you'd think designing your fav egg would be easy BUT NO. I struggled long and hard. Again, he doesnt have that much "little kid" vibe whatever man😭😭 Im just happy that I even managed to make SOMETHING. Hes got Create googles, his meathead is a massive hat that completely hides his hair. Very simple, very Ramon, though I will probably end up making a version with an ugly sweater just like he likes instead😔. I still like it but. man...

back on my fallout bullshit i dont think ive had a hyperfixation last this fucking long in like. years. but i cant do anything about it so here we are, Anyway, heres my inquiry, whats the view of human/ghoul relationships. are there Any canon examples other than sole survivor/hancock. i know nova in fo3 kind of implies something might be going on with her and gob, and there are ghoul prostitutes in new vegas but its seen as a kind of freak fetish thing. hancock mightve had a thing going on with fahrenheit its not clear. but i cant think of any others

im sure at the very least its Weird/Unusual and people probably look down on it depending on their level of prejudice, but there isnt really a centralized legal system so i cant imagine it would be outlawed. im mostly wondering about how marriage works in the fallout universe bc people still have spouses, theres still "mr./mrs." naming traditions, and we know at least the chapel in diamond city performs marriages and allows robot/human marriage

but with no government and no legal system there wouldnt be marriage licenses, would there? is it just ceremonial/tradition at this point? is there any kind of legal contract involved. does a priest need to be there? can anyone perform a marriage now since its likely just ceremonial?

"could the sole survivor marry hancock" was the thought that sparked all of this. i feel like probably yes but it also would be complicated if you Know hes going to outlive you

Been conceptualizing a minecraft modpack of my own, heavily inspired by Raspberry Flavoured (which imo is peak minecraft rn but thats besides the point) but, something im always caught up on, when it comes to progression and amount of content, is...

the item loss system. I know i've talked about it before, but let me walk you through some thoughts ive had: So, keeping in mind I want to use a gravestone-like mod for keeping items on death

"Oh, enchanting tables working with chiseled bookshelves! So once you find an enchanted book, you can just access that enchant pretty easily forever! I love that. I think I want reusable armor trims, too. Since I don't like having to duplicate them with diamonds" Ah, but... that doesn't quite fit with keeping your items on death... because then, its almost TOO easy, being TOO nice. whats the point of being able to trim more armors, if you're not gonna ever lose your armor? and... also, I think delving more into perma-progression like blocks that allow you new recipes, to quickly get back to where you were in terms of gear you lost... is a really fun direction! So lets go with losing items again! But ah! Now... I do have the fun reusable enchanting system, and I even get cooler progression! But certain items REALLY suck to lose now... like tridents, or anything made with echo shards. Because they aren't renewable. Any special reward / incentive that really has deep one-of-a-kindness to it like that... is a massive pain to lose. Don't want to be THAT cruel so, okay, fine. no item loss. you keep your stuff. but ... that makes resource progression less interesting. Who cares about diamonds anymore when you just need a few here and there to repair your tools? Or to duplicate an armor trim? Plus, what to do with enchanting..."

so, caught between a rock and a hard place. I'm unsure if I'd want to keep all my items on death if it meant I'd have to gather diamonds for freakin armor trim duplication lmao. I think I'd rather have an entire progression system designed around getting stuff back. I guess its just like, you want to put the permanence either into the item loss / lack of item loss system, or into the item gain system. Not both - that'd be too much Gain without much Need for many things I think, as I see minecraft clearly going the route of designing incentives around NOT losing items, and clearly eventually having something closer to keepinventory on by default... I'd rather design something ELSE! and so yknow what? incentives can just be... renewable!! or reusable!! yes, you can lose things. but you'll get em back easily! an armor trim, you just make new armor and trim it easy peasy, no needing to get a new trim. you have plenty of Steel from having gained access to the Nether now ! so. could make the mace just need a breeze rod and some iron. so it still is gated to trial chambers... but, put more emphasis on its enchants for its power level and, more things could be Stuff you Place Down. since you cant actually lose those! unlike items you keep on you! ...but then, if i go with this, that might mean i get way less cool modded content to really feasibly play with. a cool rare mob that drops a cool rare helmet? Well that just doesnt work.. so i have to pick between cool helmets and rare trinkets you wouldnt wanna lose... or a cool engaging enchanting and gear progression system! Bwah! I'm sure theres a middleground but. That sounds like the MOST headache inducing one, for ME anyways. to design.

i was NOT expecting a brilliantly written masterpiece about colonialism, but thats what i got, and its going in the greatest of all time hall of fame in my brain forever.

im not gonna sit here and regale you on the message of the movie. they only said fax, no printer, and its an important message to send kids. alot of the messages kids get about races and borders is “we are all the same 😚” but they came in with the “we are NOT the same and that is both good and bad, both exciting and dangerous so you need to be aware of dangerous ideas of “harmony”” and thats so real. kids need to understand differences are OK.

i love how they backed off the “chosen one” vibe poppy had in the first movie and talked about her flaws as a leader. while her stubborness was a good thing in the first movie to contrast branches pessimistic nature, it wouldnt have worked here, and i can see a cheap writer (like m*chael w*ldron) either insisting she gets away with her selfishness and carrying on with the happy ending anyway, or pretending that wasnt a character trait at all (because w*ldron doesnt watch the first movie and writes a sequel anyway)

my favorite scene is the bubble scene and the woods right after they leave funk where branch confronts poppy. do i even need to tell you why?

i just want to mention it because im pretty sure branch sings a cover of “girl crush” by little big town, which is a country band, and branch said he likes country music earlier and that slays. but when poppy comes in, what they sing is definitley not girl crush, and i cant tell if its giving “trolls can mix music” or im completley wrong and its a different song alltogether. but i cant tell if that song is homophobic or is super gay, so if im wrong thats prob for the best.

the only flaw i can think of is the country music, as a midwestern i can confidently say that was an affront to real blue grass country music. i guess born to die “works” but it didnt represent country as well as the other genres did. theres alot of controversy in the country music fandom with alot of singers who sound exactly the same and produced like its a factory line. but even if people still think miranda lambert and carrie underwood arent true country singers, their songs wouldve worked better than born to die. also the country trolls shouldve been on a self sufficient farm instead of the wild west. that wild western jazzy piano and country music isnt the same.

the only bad part about the movie is that it ended and barb ATE. SHE LEFT NO CRUMBS WITH THAT INTRO. send ask.

And yeah I love Poppy and how she can accomplish A LOT but she doesn't make it on her own, she needs character development and help from others just like everyone else. Characters are surprisingly realistic.

Barb really was goat, the best antagonist in the franchise. I love parallels between her and Poppy, how both had different intentions (Poppy wanted to help and Barb wanted to conquer) but Poppy's method was also wrong and both Poppy and Barb and everyone had to make compromises for all tribes to live in harmony because no one has to change their lifestyle for that to happen, all they have to do is accept that they're different and that's perfect. Just be yourself and let others be themselves.

That song in the end (Just Sing) slaps hard (and so does Can't Stop The Feeling btw).

Ok process!

(And btw I may have fucked up a new pen by deciding to re-draw the lines over the pastel, after experimenting and seeing that that didnt work well, bc I got lost in the moment. The ink is exactly flowing nicely now. If you have any tips to save the pen please say!)

I bought some new materials the other day (a3 art diary, brown a4 diary, white pencils, black marker pen for outlining), and Ive never actually had any of those materials before except the pen, so I wanted to start messing around with it. And Im hoping Big Paper will help my brain in deciding thats worth getting the (acrylic, mostly) paints out. (I have about 0.1 watercolour skills so thats a whole project to learn).

So first I just fucked around with the above and pencil and and oil pastels to just see how it looks together and on brown paper. (Midtone paper?)(the adhd brackets are strong today).

To be perfectly honest my first days attempt at Harrow looks like this:

I remind myself that I do in fact have the entire page to work on, and I end up with attempt 2:

Some lines are a little wobblier than ideal, but Im really learning to let go of "perfection" in my art. So what some lines are a little wobbly, the art is still doing all the things Im trying to get it to do. My hand will strengthen and make swoopier lines, or it won't. Doesnt make this bad art. Just a little wobbly art, and thats fine. (Maybe a slightly thicker pen would look more like in my minds eye?)

I considered giving her a tiny bit of upper lip hair, but I decided that 1. It wouldnt work well visually with the face paint lines and 2. I dont think she got far enough into puberty. Tbh Id be kinda surprised if she menstruates with any kind of regularity.

Next picture I took because I knew it would look cool and yay new materials.

I think in hindsight, doing black pastel over top of white would have been easier than dodging the black to put down the white and also try avoid too much grey smudging. Although given that she's worked up, I think some smudging actually adds to the realism. There, I totally had that planned the entire time because Im super thoughtful and totally didnt mess up my NEW PEN.

I was going to take a picture after the face-paint, but I got distracted thinking about an earlier idea to make her bloody also. Because thats just how Harrow is. I was trying to think what would go nicely on top of pastel, since by now I had realised that Id maybe fucked up my pen, and also I specifically wanted the paint to be pastel, because its described as chalky, so I didnt want to also do the blood in pastel. What about paint? Thats so messy that requires a palette- wait I only need a tiny bit! Huzzah!

So I just. Found a small paintbrush and dipped it directly into the tube. And it worked wonderfully! Could I have been more subtle with the paint, sure, and I did rein myself in from adding more, but I dont think its too much. I think its exactly the right amount for an artwork by me who leans more maximalist than minimalist when it comes to details. I will probably need to restrain myself from the painting the background yet another shade of black.

Oh and I decided that grey didnt look right, so I went over her irises in brown texta (marker) which now look totally black which makes her look creepier! Totally as intended!

Im gonna talk about the process under because Im really proud of it. But firstly heres the final version (for now? A background is itching at me but also blank space is allowed and in fact important):

oaoqog okokok so it takes a very long time for Emmet to even find out that Ingo is there. cus i love dragging things out longer than they have to be

so anyway, Emmet is wearing a mask, so no one could know that hes Ingos twin. All everyone knew was that he was looking for someone, but with Emmet being extremely closed off at this time, no one really knew much.

ingo and Emmet were kind of on other sides of the whole island, so they werent gonna just see eachother out in the wild, and they wouldnt even meet at jubilife, since Emmet rarely leaves the caves

and for extra pain, they keep just barely missing each other.like, Ingo leaves an area just before Emmet arrives there, and no one bothers to mentions Lady sneaslers wardens name. "two ships passing in the night" type beat

Emmet does finally find out about Ingo because of Melli! Eventually, Emmet is comfortable enough around Melli that he takes his mask off, and Melli freaks out cus this guy looks exactly like that annoying pearl warden

Emmet freaks out cus Melli freaks out, and finally both calm down enough for Melli to explain that he looks like the Pearl clan warden Ingo. Emmet cries and Melli is confused

Eventually Melli takes Emmet to jubilife to see if Ingo is there at the training grounds, and of course hes not. then they go to the pearl clan to see if hes there or ask about where he might be. Irida is very cautious about these two diamond clan wardens asking about her skrunkly warden, so she refuses to tell them where he is

Emmet takes his mask off to show her that he is in-fact Ingos brother, and Iridas like "oh shit thats the guy from Ingos memories" so she finally takes them to where he is

Ingo sees Emmet and finally remembers him and Emmet literally tackles him to the ground :D i will only allow happy endings on this blog

so hand tattoos fade pretty quick and need regular maintience if you want them to stick right ? alright CONSIDER, you work in a tattoo parlor and Hanma has been a regular there for years getting Sin and Punishment touched up. youve seen him plenty, but never had the chance to work on him as he tended to stick with one artist until one day he comes in for his touch-ups only to be told that his regular artist had called out that day and wouldnt be available. his eyes skate over the shop and land on you "what about her?" thats how you end up him in your chair, trying to focus so intently on the hum of the tattoo gun as to not completely fuck up the clean edge of the kanji. years of watching him, and now you hand him here, in your station and you couldnt work up the nerve to even make polite conversation. "do you do piercings, doll?" --- fuck fuck fuck. fumbling with the clamp on the table you hear his deep chuckle behind you. this fucker was enjoying your nerves. "sure youve done this before?" you shoot him a quick glare over your shoulder as you turn to face him. "yes ive done this before. now shut up, and stick your tongue out" "you could at least buy me dinner first, sweetheart" defiant, but allowing his tongue to loll out. "this is gonna pinch" you say under your breath as you slip the clamp on and position the needle. a deep breath in and press, the needle slips in and though, the ball stud falling into place. Hanma's eyes not leaving yours for a moment through the process. sliping the clamp off you step away, watching as Hanma straitened his shoulders and stood up. "ive had worse. now, i believe i mentioned dinner"

But hear me out, he can't really eat a proper dinner at the moment, you remind him. so he settles for paying, plus your number an a raincheck on dinner. his tip is like idk a couple 10,000 yen bills and like a solid mf diamond cufflink Shuji stole off another admin for the lols. Luckily, your shift is over and you can reel over the insane generosity of the lanky man.

Wait, doll, where you're going? Bike's this way you were going home, he had you number, what was he playing at? Well, a man like Shuji always comes prepared with a loophole. Because ice cream isn't off limits and he has no intentions of letting you go without a treat.

Shuji's back in like a week, asking for a new tattoo piece, opting early on to do it in long 6 hour session. He wanted to monopolize your time. He takes a liking to teasing you for sport, riles you up or tries to tempt you to laugh so you have to stop the tattoo to relax your hands (and extend his session time).

Shuji's session gets extended by 2 hours and your other regular shows up. The front desk part timer interrupts Hanma's blatant playful flirting and you tear yourself away to profusely apologize to him.

Shuji is...not pleased....by that...

He's back way too soon asking for another big tattoo. Nearly a full back piece. Oh god oh fuck the first time you watched that man take his shirt of you just about saw god. But suddenly he refuses to sit for longer than an hour. He's at your station for 2 hours a day (an hour of distractions, an hour of tattooing).

You don't mind.

He agrees to pay a massive premium for your time. Besides, he's hot as fuck and is very entertaining. And he's taken you out for dinner (or brought you lunch) to your favorite places.

The regulars are well used to the glares or bribes to takes on your other clients. But you don't need to know anything about that. Shuji's got your schedule managed. And your bills paid.

Shuji shows up at the shop, with an hour left to closing with dinner from your favorite place. You take him to the back (he is kind of keeping the shop open single handedly, after all, he has special privileges) he sits and pulls you into his lap. You don't even flinch, just take your set like it's natural. He's been pulling this hit since you first met him two plus months ago.

His chin is on your shoulder as you eat like you've never seen food before goddamn workaholics his hands casually massage the bare skin of your inked thighs.

Oh, you ask him, how's the tongue feel?

Why don't you tell me? he kisses your neck and the warm metal ball sliding along the shell of your ear sends shivers down your spine.

gamefreak is very well known for always making two big games at once (by the time platinum released black and white were like halfway or more done). bdsp is outsourced to the company ILCA, which gave a ton of spare time to gamefreak

gamefreak, after swsh, probably immediately began on scarlet and violet (assuming they werent already working on it) but. now that the diamond and pearl remakes the fans kept asking for were done by a different company, gamefreak now suddenly has a Massive open window. what do they do now that they dont have to make dp remakes alongside scarlet and violet?? legends arceus happened. they always make two games at once but now their second game which is usually a remake or third version was now total creative freedom

anyways bdsp and legends arceus are an example of letting creativity flow and its such a shame so many people trash it because bdsp was outsourced entirely because the fanbase kept demanding dp remakes. gamefreak wanted to do something different and creative and its a shame the fanbase that always complains about "the games feeling the same" is so upset about that
