To Whom It May Concern
Tim couldnât stay.Â
No matter what Bruce had said when he caught Tim in the act of laying the paper trail to establish his Fake Uncle, no matter how long Dick had sobbed into the phone at him during an inordinately expensive long distance (read: off planet) phone call, no matter how much Alfred had been fussing over him and insisting it was no trouble at all to care for him since Timâs scheme had been revealed and promptly foiled, it just didnât change the fact that Tim couldnât stay. Truthfully, the Wayne familyâs apparent sudden burst of affection for him actually made this whole thing worse because somewhere along the way, without even trying, Tim had failed to keep things wholly professional between them and somehow tricked them into thinking he belonged in their family!Â
He couldnât let it stand. For the sake of Jasonâs memory, for the sake of preserving the sanctity of the true Wayne family, he had to stop this⌠this absurdity of pretending that Tim belonged with them from continuing! Tim had to run. Tim had to vanish. It was the only way to make things right again. Sure, the thought of never seeing any of them again, the thought of being done with Bruce and Alfred and Dick and Barbara and everyone in his life he currently held dear once and for all made it feel as though his heart was being ripped out of his chest only to be shoved back down his throat to stop the flow of air into his bodyâbut it didnât matter. He didnât matter, not nearly as much as they did. This would be for their own good.Â
Tim was leaving, and it turned out to be easier than he thought it would be in the end. Not emotionally easier, but logistically easier. Bruce had been extra attentive lately, so he thought heâd have to fake an injury and get âbenchedâ so that they would lower their guard long enough for him to slip away. But by some divine stroke of luck, a new player had waltzed onto Gothamâs criminal scene not too long after Timâs Fake Uncle plan fell through and started making threats against Batman and Robin. They had apparently freaked B out enough to prompt him to send Tim off to Titanâs Tower to âfocus on his team for awhileâ. Tim had accepted the command with the requisite amount of complaint, planted some fake texts to make it look like heâd actually communicated to his Team that he would be there, shoved everything from his guest room in the Manor that he couldnât bear to part with into a duffel bag underneath a spare uniform, gave Bruce what only he knew was a more emotionally charged nod goodbye than usual, and then poof. Tim Drake was zapped out of the Batcave for the last time ever.Â
He let himself have one night in the Tower. Partly to catch a few hours of sleep in a familiar and secure environment, but mostly so he could clean up his room for its next occupant, sweep his belongings and his person for any extra trackers, and repack his bag more efficiently. He also took the time to grab a spare backpack and fill it up with emergency rations. While he was taking plenty of cash, he didnât want to risk having to go into stores with security cameras for a while, at least until heâd cleared a suitable distance from San Francisco proper as well as implemented the first of his many planned disguises. He didnât think a bottle of cheap hair dye and some colored contacts would be enough to fool Oracle indefinitely, but if he was appropriately cautious it might keep her from getting a confirmation of his location long enough for the Bats to either get bored looking for him or to actually realize they were better off without him around.Â
When the early rays of dawn started to bathe the sides of Titanâs Tower in ember colored light, he was off. He left behind seven trackers pulled from his clothes and bag and one more from behind his ear; heâd kept the one he noticed in his favorite pair of sneakers because it was a type that wouldnât start transmitting data until the Bats actively started tracking it and he was hoping to find someone who wore his size at the bus station he could pay to wear them so he could throw them off for even longer. If all else failed, he would just toss them in an out of the way trash can. He had also left a letter of resignation for Batman that heâd whipped up based off of an online template, signed and sealed and awaiting discovery atop the pillow in his nearly empty dorm room (he had tried for something more personal, a longer note of explanation for Bruce about why he couldnât stay despite being asked, butâthe words just wouldnât come, and heâd been running out of time). His bag was heavy, courtesy of all of the extra supplies heâd grabbed in anticipation of having to evade not only Batmanâs team but the rest of the Justice League. His heart was heavy, courtesy of emotional baggage that he wished was as easy to unpack as his actual bags would be when he finally found somewhere to settle.Â
He boarded the first bus he saw after heâd gone a few blocks and took a seat towards the back, where he leaned against the window and stared back at the iconic giant T that he used to belong in, however briefly, until it disappeared from sight. And just like that, Tim Drakeâs life as Robin was over.Â
â
To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is to formally notify you that Iâm resigning as Robin in Gotham City, effective immediately.Â
Thank you so much for the opportunity to work with you all for the past three years. Iâve enjoyed getting to know the team and appreciated the opportunity to learn about vigilantism and hone my detective skills. Iâm excited to take these skills with me as I pursue the next step of my career.
During the past two weeks, I have done everything possible to wrap up any ongoing cases and leave no unfinished business. The Robin suit as well as my spare have been cleaned and placed in the armory of Titanâs Tower along with any gear I have been issued.Â
I wish Batman and team the best, but am afraid I will be out of contact for the foreseeable future.Â
Sincerely,Â
T. J. Drake
â
Red Hood stalked into Titanâs Tower with all the grace of a wildcat closing in on its prey, his vicious smirk hidden by his helmet, his unauthorized entrance hidden by virtue of the heroesâ own stupidity in failing to remove his codes from the database. Seriouslyâheâd thought gaining entry into their so-called fortress would be the hardest part of this little trip, and had only tried his access codes for the sake of checking the most stupidly obvious Plan A off his list! For them to work, to realize that there was nothing truly separating the precious sidekicks from the wrath of a vengeance minded crime lord, well⌠it sure made the message he was about to send feel all the more poignant.Â
He had come equipped to subdue an entire horde of Teeny Titans without hurting them (much), but to his surprise, the tower was empty of kid sidekicks despite Robin having been sent to work with his team yesterday afternoon, a fact Jason had gleaned last night from listening to the mind numbing chatter of Nightwing being bored on a stakeout and wanting to chat with anyone over the comms Jason had hacked into. Which heâd done in order to better plan his aggressive takeover of Crime Alley, not because he missed hearing his familyâs voices. Nope.Â
(Since coming back to Gotham, it had been more difficult than he anticipated to stick to the plan when some part of his mind still stubbornly clung to those foolish, childhood dreams of belonging and family and a father who gave a shit and things like that, and kept popping up with annoying questions like âwhat if he revealed his identity to Dick or Alfred or someone just to see if maybe Talia had been right and theyâd want him back after all. Clearly, the existence of a new Robin meant that theyâd never really given a damn about him, so he was going to go through with this thing, just watch him.)
Truly this had to be fate, because the path to Robin was practically unfolding before him with no barriers. All that was left to do was find where in this gigantic clubhouse the itty little birdie was nesting. Jason tried the common room first. Then the kitchen. Then the rec room. And then the training floor. And the med bay. And then the armory, where he found Robinâs suit, but no actual Robin. He supposed the next place to check would be Robinâs bedroom, because even though it was well past eleven, Drake was a teenager and could conceivably be sleeping in, especially since there was no Alfred around to rouse him at a reasonable hour. Luckily, the doors on the floor with sleeping quarters were all clearly marked with either the name or symbol of the person it belonged to, so it was easy enough to find the one with that all too familiar stylized âRâ. Jason paused to take a steadying breath before gritting his teeth and deciding to really make an entrance by kicking down the door.Â
âŚTo an empty bedroom. Like, not just devoid of Tim Drake, but also devoid of books, trinkets, photos, decoration, clothes, dishes, mess, et cetera, et cetera. It looked as clean and sterile as a hotel room, and if Jason hadnât literally just seen Robinâs insignia on the door he would think heâd entered an unassigned room by mistake. He frowned and yanked off his helmet, as if looking with his own two eyes would suddenly change the scene, but no. Nothing. He strode into the room and yanked open the closetâempty. He walked over to the desk and yanked open the top drawerâempty. He yanked open the bottom drawer, and mostly empty except forâwait, was that a pile of deactivated Bat trackers? Fucking bizarre. When he stood up, he glanced around again, and this time something on the bed caught his eye. It had been easy to miss against the white pillowcase, but there was an envelope tucked up against the pillow. With a scowl, he stalked over and grabbed it.Â
When Jason flipped it over, he noted that it was addressed to Batman, but decided that since he was a crime lord now he didnât have to care about something as trivial as opening someone elseâs mail. He didn't want to take off his gloves and risk leaving prints on anything, so he pulled out a dagger and used it to slice open the envelope. As he flipped it over to dump its contents on the desk, he had the fleeting thought that he probably should have put back on his mask in case this had been some villainâs ploy to poison Batman, but luckily all that fell out was a single sheet of printer paper folded into thirds.Â
This he was careful not to damage as he unfolded it. It wasnât a long note, just a few small paragraphs, so it was quick enough to read: To whom it may concern. This letter is to formally notify you that Iâm resigning as Robin in Gotham City, effective immediatelyâŚÂ
Jason dropped the letter and took a step back, staring at the innocuous piece of paper with wide eyes and racing thoughts. Robin hadâDrake wasnâtâTimothyâthe kid, he was quitting? Leaving? Gone?Â
It could be a trap. It probably was a trap. Except Robin shouldnât have had any way of knowing Red Hood would be able to track him all the way to Titanâs Tower so why would he have set a trap for him in the first place? A trap for someone else, then? If it was, it was really, really stupid of him because the kid had signed his resignation letter from Robin with his actual name, and surely he wouldnât have made it this far if he were that careless with his identity. So, it was either a very bad trap, or not a trap at all. And if it was not a trap at all, thenâŚÂ
Then Robin had⌠resigned. Which, ok, Jasonâs stated goal coming into this thing was to get Tim Drake to stop being Robin. So he should be happy about this, right? Except heâd not gotten to toss the kid around and work out his aggression at all so there was no satisfaction in it. Also, the timing was fucking obnoxious. Go figure that the very day he decides to do something about his replacement, the kid decides to peace out of the Gotham vigilante scene and⌠and goâŚÂ
⌠Somewhere. Jason had no idea where Tim Drake would go if he were no longer Robin. Given how heâd waited until he was alone and then left the note to be found on the other side of the country, Jason had a sneaking suspicion that returning to Gotham was currently off the table. The letter had said he would be âout of contactâ for the foreseeable future; Jason could read between the lines enough to figure out that meant he was running away.Â
âWhich, fuck. Another Robin was running away from Batman because of⌠well, Jason didnât know what this kidâs issue with B was, but there were plenty of potential flaws in the man to choose from so Jason was going to play it safe and assume it was something Bruce did. Clearly, the man could never learn. And now, this poor dumb Robin was going to pay the price! Jason was more than familiar with the number of horrors that awaited kids who ended up on their own. He could starve; he could freeze to death; he could catch some disease like the flu, or get cut on a rusty nail and get tetanus, and then die from it because he couldnât access medical treatment. He could get mugged, or harassed by cops, or snatched up by traffickers, orâ
And fine; Jason himself had meant to hurt him. But that had been for ideological purposes, to prove a point about putting children in danger and not taking good enough care of them and stuff. It wasnât like he was going to hurt him that badly, just bad enough to freak out Bruce a bit. But Jason was also the Red Hood, and the Red Hoodâs mission was to do what was necessary to stop awful shit from happening to vulnerable kids. And this stupid, stupid letter was apparently enough to abruptly transfer Timothy Drake into that category in his head.Â
Everything Jason had heard about the kid said he was smart, and the timing of his disappearance pointed to some thoughtful planning on his part. Jason could imagine that the little shit had some sort of plan in place to evade Batmanâs attempts to locate him, and he probably could manage to run without getting caught by Bruce and the Gotham team for a while. Heck, the kid probably had strategies to get away from most if not all of the Justice League members, since B was sure to call in favors once he got frantic enough about the little bird. But one thing the kid likely did not plan for was being pursued by him. Ex-Robin, currently a crime lord, League of Assassins connections, and a bone to pick with Timothy specifically? (He ran away from home and left a fucking resignation letter about it? Does he not realize what that would do to Dick, to Alfred, to Bruceâ)
After stuffing the letter into his pocket, Jason put back on his helmet and stalked out of Titans Tower as silently as heâd arrived, this time with a new yet equally furious purpose sharpening his steps. Sucked to be Timothy Drake, he thought, because the Red Hood got his message and he was officially concerned.Â
#my writing#my fanfic#tim drake#jason todd#to whom it may concern#would be what this fic is called if I ever continue it haha#but this is as far as I got and then kinda lost steam#but it stands as a one shot pretty nicely so I thought I'd share it here see what people thought. ya know.#could it be a multi chapter fic one day? sure. what do I know. will it be soon? probably not.#um ok what else#unreliable narrator#tim drake has self worth issues#are probably the two most critical tags/warnings for this one.#anyway actually being on desktop is giving me way too much power look at me go all these tags and no typos damn!

54, Kidnapping with Ashton Greymoore
Prompt
So @lunarrolls had this fun little post a while back pointing out that according to the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount, both the Cerberus Assembly and Kryn Dynasty are very interested in collecting genasi for research. And that Ashton would be an absolutely wild catch for them.
Now given Ashton's new outfit has a half-decent approximation of the Kryn Dynasty symbol:
Plus dunamantic abilities, it's possible for Ashton (and Bells Hells) to bluff a Kryn scout/agent into thinking he's already got some affiliation with the Dynasty. Thus skirting around a potential attempt to drag Ashton back to Rosohna.
The Assembly agents on the other hand, are only going to be all the more interested in capturing a "Dynasty" genasi with dunamantic capabilities.
The Cerberus Assembly's people, also, are going to be the the type of people to possess mindcontrol magics to get Ashton to "willingly" come along under his own power. Or some other form of magic to make Ashton less of a threat. Which definitely would make the whole kidnapping process easier.
Because let's be real: Ashton is not someone who is easily kidnapped via brute force or drugging.
Ashton is a beefy tank of a barbarian. If you want to take them via force, you're going to have to work for it. Ambush and numbers are going to be your friends. As we've seen time and again, hitting the barbarian before rage comes into effect is prime circumstance. And if you can't lay down the heavy hurt by yourself, having a team to pile on is a must. And you want to be fast, otherwise allies or other interference can occur, if Ashton doesn't just manage to book it like crazy.
Ashton also has a high Constitution score with proficiency on the Saves, so drugging them, which is usually resisted with a CON Save, is not an easy task either unless you've got something potent.
Of course, once you've knocked Ashton down, transport becomes an issue. He's made of rock and very heavy. I always put his minimum weight at 500 pounds (but the range is really somewhere between 450-600). So unless you're teleporting out, quick escape (particularly on foot) is not an easy task because you've got this enormous deadweight.
Plus, Ashton is a very noticeable figure to try and run off with, so their friends can very easily pick up information about what has happened if your tracks are not sufficiently covered. And that's not even accounting for magical means of locating them. Which, there are means of blocking Scrying and Sending. But, I don't think there's a way to block a Commune if the cleric asks the right questions to get your location.
And that's not even getting into the thrashing mess Ashton will become once he's got his senses back. Hope you've got some good chains and a sturdy cell, because you've got a barbarian baby titan with chaotic dunamancy in there, and he's fucking pissed. Oh, and he's got a criminal background in Breaking and Entering, so it's also entirely possible for him to pick the locks and sneak out if you don't have a solid setup.
If Ashton doesn't escape under their own power, eventually the rest of Bells Hells is going to show up in all their unhinged chaos. You've taken one of their voices of reason, and that was a mistake. If your base of operations doesn't seem suddenly haunted, that may not be a good sign.
For who knows which of their powerful allies they'll tap for the breakout. The Voice of the Tempest causing a political fuss? She can also call on her allies in other political spheres to add even more pressure. What about that Cobalt Soul monk with abs for days and her wizard friend who have jailed Assembly members? Bet you don't want them poking their noses into this.
Honestly, there's some really fun stuff to be done with Ashton getting kidnapped by a world power.

Characters: Talia, with minor mention of Ice (@thedarknesssings) at the end. Content Warning: Murder. Song: In This Moment - The In-Between Continued from This Story.
Talia lifted an arm to wipe at her brow, staring down at the hole sheâd dug. There was the box that contained her first tomestone, buried exactly where she had left it just a stones throw from the cabin she kept in the southern part of the Shroud.Â
She knelt down to lift the box and then planted her feet and vaulted upwards, landing on the edge of the hole without much effort. So many little tips and tricks sheâd picked up over the last few years. Theyâd give her a real advantage for this one. Hard to pinpoint a sniper that no one could see, after all. Even in broad daylight.Â
She cracked open the box and tossed it to the side, opening the tombstone with a press of her thumb to the screen. It was the work of a moment to trace the messages to where they sat, waiting for her. Date, time, location, detailed description, identifying marks.
The information was committed to memory, before Talia turned and strode away from the cabin. The hole she left. She'd come bury the tomestone after if she didn't clean it up. She swore it to herself.
âââââ
Three bells later, Talia was dressed in her black leathers with her red mirrored glasses covering her mismatched eyes. She was perched up in the upper tiers of Limsa Lominsa. Sheâd slipped past the Yellowjackets and Maelstrom alike, perched herself up above Hawkerâs Alley in the green cover of the buildings that overlooked either direction. Honestly, the dense foliage just made things easier for her.Â
She had a clear line down into the alleyway, and a good view of those coming from the back ports nearer to Mealvaanâs Gate, and if she angled her rifle just right, she could see straight down the sight and to the edge of the harbor.Â
Sheâd been laying there like this, prone on her belly for the last quarter of a bell. She didnât figure she was actually going to have to wait that long for her target to show up, and sure enough, she was right. He swaggered amid a full quartet of bodyguards, conversing with what she assumed was another merchant.Â
Their heads were down just enough that at this distance, even through the scope, she wasnât entirely certain what they were talking about. Not that the conversation would last much longer anyway.
She let the scope of her rifle follow him, up past the Gate, and into the furthest end of the Alley, into the crowd of people. She counted his footsteps the minute he hit the end. Counted his even paces, and watched as the smile he wore spread. His business must be going well. And then she started counting down.Â
Four; slide the bolt of the rifle, knock a cartridge into the chamber.
The noise was soft, the glide of her rifle smoothed by years of use and the anticipation of slow movement. Not that anyone in the alley could have heard her below, not with the hustle and bustle, not with wares being called for and people arguing and haggling over prices some twenty five fulm below her.
Three; press the stock more firmly against her shoulder and prepare for the recoil.
She continued to track her target through the alleyway as they moved from stall to stall. Watch the way he wove between his guards and the way he stepped. Heavy down on his left foot, as if it had been injured.Â
Two; fit her finger over the trigger and take in a breath, stilling her body entirely.
He just needed to take one more step.
One; fire.
Her finger squeezed the trigger and a low and muffled thump was all that left her position as the shot sailed through the air over the couple hundred fulm between her and her target.
One moment her target was speaking with his bodyguard, and the next moment red was beginning to bloom from just over his heart, spreading across his fine light greenish robes like a blooming flower, staining the fabric dark with the last remnant pumps from his ruptured heart.Â
Chaos erupted in the alleyway as someone screamed, and Yellowjackets came running from nearer to the aetheryte system. Bodyguards moved to cover the man who now lay dead on the ground, bodies spread across his too late while someone checked his vitals.
Talia eased further back into the brush, green shifting to practically part around her. Oh yes. She had so many more tricks now. She crouched there in the underbrush as she disassembled her rifle, broke it down into pieces and put it in the case that usually held it.
It snapped shut as she listened to orders being barked from below, as the Maelstrom came onto the scene. He was an influential merchant, after all, and heâd just been murdered.
She expected to feel threads of guilt, but instead she felt a quiet sense of satisfaction that hadnât burned inside her in far, far too long. For a few seconds it burned bright in the center of her chest. She let it burn until it snuffed itself back out.
She was free of her perch not a few moments later, vaulting skyward in a way that only someone trained to jump could be, landing on the mid-decks of Bulwark Hall. Booted footfalls were silent as she strode away, heading for the edge of the city. Across one bridge and then another, before she was up over the edge near the Aftcastle, losing herself amid a crowd, just one more person with a musical instrument case slung up on her back.
The lower deck gates wouldnât be safe, but she didnât need to take those. It was easy to get lost in a crowd, but harder to mask her signature if sheâd departed via aetheryte, so that was out of the question. She was never in Limsa today as far as anyone knew. Another five minutes, and she was free of the city, striding out into Lower La Noscea, not far from where she had left Reaper. She made certain she was on her secure line, before she lifted her linkpearl up to her ear, one leg swinging over the back of her bike to settle herself.
She waited for the line to click on before she started speaking.
âItâs done.â That voice was as frosty as it had been the first time she talked to him, and the masculine voice on the other end held a smile in its tone.Â
âGood job, Devil. Iâll see you soon for payment.â There was a heartbeat where he thought perhaps the line had been cut already, before the Devilâs reply followed.
âSee you then, Ice.â
And the line went dead.

TEEHEEE HIIIII
so about your DnD au
because I'm obsessed
are we gonna get colored versions of the boys soon? because my absolute favorite part of fan art is coloring and I NEED TO MAKE MORE FAN ART AHHHHH
Also, I'm a little confused about the like... timeline of events, and the world. Because I thought it gave medieval vibes but it looks like it's more modern???
Hiiii!!
So yeah, I do have a colored piece of art!! You can find it here, I posted it a while back. (Granted it was at like 2 am EST and with how tumblr works and my constant reblogs my shit gets buried LOL)
The world!!
Iâll start with the world first because thatâs easier to understand. The world itself is a mix between medieval and modern, as there are modern things such as some technologies, larger cities, the food, etc. but also medieval in the sense that things are split into kingdoms, weapons like swords, and transportation via horse and carriages and stuff like that. The best way I would compare it with is the world of The Adventure Zone: Balance, which is one of my biggest inspirations for this story.
The world that the McElroys build there is an almost seamless mix of modern elements with medieval fantasy, which is the exact vibe I am gunning for.
I like this sort of world vibe because it leaves everything open with little limitations â do I want them to have a coffee machine? Sure! Are there blacksmiths around to forge swords? Yeah!! Modern bathrooms? Fuck yeah!!!
Timeline! Timeline! Timeline!!
So Iâm still working on the outline (and when by still I mean I need to write it and get it out of my brain), but in terms of what happens when, Iâll lay out a basic list (to keep things vague ;) )
Aziraphale and Crowley are at their respective âhomesâ (the church and the school)
Their secrets are discovered and they fight for their lives and run away
The two travel alone for a while
They both end up accepting the same job and end up working together
They both decide to continue traveling together out of âconvenienceâ
After traveling together for months decide to become an official âbusinessâ of adventurers for hire
A couple of years into this business they get a strange letter from a âDeviceâ about a job
Crowley gets hired to help tutor Adam with Anathema
People from the old academy are ordered by Lucifer to track Crowley down
Said person is lazy and hired Sergent Shadwell to do the job
Shadwell is also lazy and hires Newt to do the job
Anathema, Crowley, Adam, the them, and Aziraphale go to an observatory to help Adam
Shit goes down, Anathema and Newt stick around
After working for a couple of months a strange young adult (Muriel) starts following the team around
Due to village gossip, Nina and Maggie separately decide to try to work for the team
Gabriel is sent out by the church to locate Aziraphale after Muriel doesnât return
Beez is sent out by Lucifer to locate Crowley
Aziraphale gets taken :)
The team, with word from Beez and Gabriel, go to fight against the church and bring Aziraphale home
Recovery period â˘ď¸
Crowley gets threatened by Lucifer about his connection to Ophiuchus
He runs off in an attempt to protect his family
Fire :) and fighting :)
Freedom
Lmao uhhh, yeah! Very brief, but this is essentially a summary of things that may tickle the thinking brain lol

Sun's Dawn - Does your OC have a love interest? What is their relationship like?
First Seed - Does your OC have any enemies or rivals? How did these rivalries start?
Frost Fall - Where is your OC's primary residence? What city is there favourite?
FOR WHATEVER OC OF YOUR CHOOSING :)))
Sun's Dawn
Kynadoraâs love interest is Miraak. He and she are a slow burn, and most of their relationship can be defined as a tall, stoic, and strong warrior being brought to his knees by the gentleness he receives from the chronically tired but kind Kynadora. That is after they get over the main story of the Dragonborn DLC. Bauraâs love interest is Brynjolf. By the time we run into the Thieves Guild when Kynadora is tracking down Esbern, they are already together. They get together shortly after Baura returns with Karliah to the Guild, but before Baura, Brynjolf, and Karliah become Nightingales. Lasinia is part of what I will refer to as the Dawnguard Polycule. It includes her, Florentius Baenius, Gunmar, and Sorine Jurard. They all really just want to make each other happy and do so very well. It does however slightly confuse Isran.
First Seed
Iâve already answered this ask for Kynadora, which should be under the ask meme tag. Baura, as part of the Thieves Guild, has a main enemy in the City Guards of Skyrim. Much of the time however if Kynadora or Lasinia (upon their reunions) have enemies they are counted among Bauraâs. Them and anyone else who dares to cross her guild. So the Thalmor are part of the list of her enemies twice for what happened to Kynadora and Etienne. The Silver-Bloods of Markarth are also people she tends to anger or rob if possible due to the events of the Forsworn Conspiracy, though she chose to kill Madanach and escape alone. As a follower of Meridia, Lasinia has a distaste for anything undead. Which is what drew her to the Dawnguard originally. She is less likely to go out of her way to fight against her sister and Kynadoraâs enemies, but that doesnât mean that she makes their jobs easier for them either. Harkonâs court is her primary enemy throughout the game, but she does have an interesting rivalry with Janus Hassildor. He is on her âno-kill listâ, but that doesnât mean that they get along at the best of times. She does however respect him for what he has done with his vampirism, especially in comparison to other undead.
Frost Fall
Kynadora owns a lot of properties throughout Skyrim. Her favorites have to be Riftweald Manor, a gift from Baura and the Guild for when she is in Riften, and Myrwatch which I have slightly moved the location of. It is closer to the true middle point between the Throat of the World, Solitude, and Windhelm and makes traveling, especially in the post-game much easier. Her favorite cities are Riften and Solitude but she does quite enjoy spending time in Helgen once she is done with rebuilding it. Windhelm and Whiterun would be higher on the list, but she isnât as able to escape certain titles and responsibilities as she can in the other three. Baura loves Riften, where she owns two houses. She owns Honeyside as well as Shadowfoot Sanctum. The Sanctum is more of a residence for her to use when she needs to lay low in Riften for a bit longer. Honeyside has her true heart. She is also a Thane of Riften. Lasinia spends much of her time in Fort Dawnguard, but her favorite city is actually Morthal. She owns Windstad Manor there and is a Thane.

Motivations behind Why You Ought to Pick Shipping Shape, for your best course of action!

⥠| Jotaro Kujo x Fem!Goddess!Reader | âĄ
Masterlist
âŚPart 2 - MoriohâŚ
â§ăFandomă: JoJoâs Bizarre Adventure â§ăCharacteră: Jotaro Kujo (Part 4) â§ăWord Countă: 3,212 words 17,270 characters
â§ăSummaryă: Jotaro gets the idea to bring you with him on his trip to Morioh as a way of cheering you up and bringing you out of your depression.
Jotaro didnât know how to help you at the moment. You seemed very depressed at the current situation and since he loves you, heâs felt obligated to help cheer you up. He knew why you were depressed but had a hard time saying something first about it.
It was Jolyne.
Itâs been a long time since youâve seen her. Maybe a few years, actually. The situation was devastating and Jotaro could only imagine how a mother must feel.
You went through pregnancy for essentially nothing.
Now, you lay in bed during your breaks, completely consumed by your declining mental health.
While working for the Speedwagon Foundation, Jotaro had gotten his degree in Marine biology and was a proud Marine Biologist. Usually, one would think heâs too busy with his work and studies but the SWF made taking time off 1000% easier so that he could get down to the bottom of the locations of the Stand arrows.
His next destination was Morioh, Japan. There was supposed to be an arrow there and not only that but after taking a look at his family tree, he had anâŚuncle there. A 16-year-old boy named Josuke.
Joseph was getting old and Jotaro was the one who had to split the inheritance up between family members. Josuke counts too. Now, he just had to tell you.
After getting home from a long day, Jotaro entered your temporary home to see that everything was clean. Not because you had cleaned it but because no one had touched anything. You didnât get out of bed again.
He entered the room you two shared and there you were. Wrapped in a quilt with your eyes puffy from crying.
âHey.â He knocked on the door to let you know he entered. âI saw this book and I thought you might like it.â He added. Sometimes, Jotaro would bring books for you to read. They were always about Marine Biology or something that has to do with the ocean. You thought it was really cute and it showed his personality. Itâs just that you kinda already knew everything that you could about the world.
You thought that maybe if you were still a human, you could appreciate his gifts more.
âThanks.â You replied with your speech muffled from the blanket covering your head. You then felt the bed dip a bit from the weight. You guess he mustâve sat on the bed.
âLooks like they were able to track down another arrow. Itâs in Japan this time.â
âMmm.â
âItâs a small town named Morioh.â
âMmm.â
âAnd you know that Iâm in charge of splitting up the old manâs inheritance since heâs getting old and-â
âMhm.â
âI wanted to ask if you wanted toâŚcome with me and take your mind off things.â
You slowly removed the quilt from over your head. You got a look at Jotaroâs outfit for the day. He had on his newer white hat and wore a black turtle neck.
You thought he looked cute.
âA trip?â You asked him before sitting all the way up. Jotaro nodded.
You smiled softly at his efforts and lunged over the covers to hug him. Jotaro didnât hug you back right away but then you felt his arms snake around your waist.
The man knew that it was probably out of his character to act so affectionately. Just hugging used to be out of his comfort zone but ever since the two of you began dating in high school, youâve challenged his âlonerâ lifestyle. You were always there for him and now he was there for you.
It wasnât long before the two of you arrived in Morioh. The place had a bit of a gloomy look but it was oddly charming at first glance. So far, youâve only seen an airport and the inside of a taxi next to your husband, Jotaro.
You noticed that ever since you had arrived, Jotaro was noticeably more irritable but he never elaborated. You tried prying it out of him with kisses and talking in your cute voice but it only resulted in him blushing and pulling the brim of his hat down to stop you or hide his red face.
Now, you were in the busy streets of Morioh!!
You were so eager to take a trip to the boutiques and dessert shops. You frantically looked around while Jotaro had his head planted in a map of the town. He was trying to look for the residence of his teen uncle.
âJoot, look! That cake in the window looks really good! We should go there first.â You tugged his white jacket, trying to get him to look as if you were a child. He ignored you like as if you were a child too.
âYeah, give me a minute.â He tuned out most of what you were saying since he was having such a hard time reading the map.
You huffed. âCome on, Jotaro, youâre not even listening did you even see the cake I was referring-â
You were cut off once you realized that Jotaro had bumped into someone! It was a kid who looked like he was on his way to school.
His school supplies ended up flying out of his bag and almost all over the ground until you saw Jotaro use Star Platinum and put everything back where it was. You then felt a sense of stillness before everything went back to normal.
Jotaro used his time-stop ability! You could feel it but you didnât know why you could suddenly feel something like that. All those years ago in Egypt, when Dio would use time stop, you didnât even notice.
âHey, excuse me!â You called to the young boy. âCan you please help my husband with directions? Heâs being a bit stubborn right now.â You asked politely as you nudged Jotaro a little bit.
Jotaro rolled his eyes before apologizing and asking the boy about his uncle, Josuke Higashikita.
The boy gave helpful directions and you internally sigh in relief and now you could finally start having a bit of fun!
Jotaro and you began to leave before a few delinquents passed by. They tried picking on the little boy you had just met and you could tell Jotaro didnât like it. You knew he had gotten so strong from bullies picking on him before the two of you met.
You decided youâd say something but they had already moved on to someone else. It was a boy sitting by a fountain.
You used your cosmic vision to examine the boy. He had a star-shaped birthmark just like Jotaro and Jolyne. Upon realizing this, you pant Jotaroâs arm frantically to get his attention.
âWhat?â You heard his gruff from beside you.
âThatâs Josuke.â You pointed over to the bot with the pompadour hairstyle.
Jotaro visibly reacted to the revelation.
Before you knew it, Josuke had gotten into a fight with those delinquents. They mustâve said something he really didnât like because now they had run away.
âWow! He has a stand too.â You watched in awe. It was so nice for you to see different stands in action. You could tell the boy next to you didnât seem to know what was going on. You figured it would be best to not say anything.
You tugged Jotaroâs coat again. âWe should talk to him.â You told him. He had to admit, he was a bit nervous but decided that if you were with him then it should be easier.
When you approached Josuke, you saw that he and Jotaro were already glaring at each other.
Jotaro explained how the family tree worked and brought Josuke up to speed on why the two of you were there:
âMy name is Jotaro Kujo, which means, since heâs my grandfather, Iâm technically your nephew.â
You smiled before clinging to Jotaro. âAnd Iâm (y/n) (l/n)- I mean, (y/n) Kujo! I guess this makes me yourâŚâ You thought for a moment, getting a bit confused over how things worked again.
ââŚniece in law!â
âOh, itâs a pleasureâŚâ Josuke muttered to the both of you.
You watched as Jotaro socialized with someone who wasnât you. It was so amusing. You were really the only person he could talk to without being annoyed so seeing him almost smiling while talking to Josuke made you feel warm inside.
It wasnât until you were almost at the Higashikita residence that things kinda went south. You had been taking in the scenery when a group of girls had come by. You honestly couldnât tell at first if they had come to fawn over Josuke or Jotaro before you had seen their uniforms.
When you had come to, you saw that Jotaro and Josuke seemed like they were about to go at it. You felt like it was best to diffuse the situation. Especially, if some innocent girls were about to witness it.
âDid something happen?â You asked, reading the room to the best of your ability. âJosuke thinks I was insulting his hair,â Jotaro explained. You couldnât tell if Jotaro was being truthful or not. You knew he wouldnât outright lie about it but you did know your husband well enough to understand that heâs bad at recognizing social cues.
âOh no, I-â But Jotaro didnât let you finish. He cut you off saying âDonât worry.â And revealed his stand to fight with Josuke.
You began to panic, scurrying over to the group of school girls watching the confrontation. âD-Donât worry. Theyâre family. Youâre here for Josuke, right?â You stood in the girlsâ view so they couldnât see what was going on.
âIs that dude your boyfriend?â One of them said. âIt doesnât seem like he knows about Josukeâs temper!â the other muttered.
The last one screamed. âJosuke, no!â
âHeâs bleeding!â
You turned around. Upon looking, the only thing you wanted to do was grab your head and scream in agony. Couldnât you just have a normal vacation without your husband punching someone? Heâs been getting into fights since youâve met him and youâre always the one trying to cushion the blow to get him out of troubleâŚ
Jotaro and Holly sat in the school principalâs office. Some bullies tried picking on him again and he tried to ignore it as best as he could. When they tried fighting him, he was left to defend himself and since he didnât have total control over Star Platinum, he completely trashed all of them!
The bullies were such sorry sore losers and made this whole elaborate plan to get Jotaro expelled, trying to convince the district that he started it. There was no evidence that the young boy didnât start it. It was just their word and injuries against Jotaroâs word and lack thereof.
Until you.
ââŚexcuse me.â You entered the principalâs office on your own. âI saw the whole fight. They were harassing Kujo-Senpai and then attacked him. It was self-defense.â Your reputation saved him from getting kicked out of school and who knows what elseâŚ
You felt Jotaro use time-stop again and now he was behind Josuke. The poor boy turned around to be decked by your husband again.
âJotaro!â You yelled out before dropping to the ground to comfort Josuke. âA-Are you okay? Iâm really sorry. Sometimes, he just doesnât know his own strength.â
You then heard Jotaro cursing at the girls behind you. This manâŚ
âItâs okay! I can manage on my own.â Josuke said shyly before shrugging you off.
âFair enough.â You heard Jotaro say behind you. You backed off.
Jotaro began to inform Josuke of the lurking evil in the town. Something that he conveniently forgot to mention to you when he invited you on this trip. You didnât believe the vacation was all sunshine and rainbows but you had thought that maybe some kids had gotten the arrow and went around shooting each other to create trouble.
The little boy you met, Koichi Hirose, reminded Josuke that they had orientation for school. This causes your conversation with the Joestar to come to an end, leaving just you and Jotaro.
You placed your hands on your hips. âAnd what was that?â You questioned sternly, trying not to laugh at your husbandâs ruined hat.
âWhat was what?â Jotaro repeated, removing his damaged hat. If only he listened to you and brought a spare one.
âPunching Josuke and yelling at those girls. You donât think I heard you?â You rolled your eyes at him. You hated having to spell such obvious things out for him.
âI had to or it was gonna get ugly.â
You frowned again. âSure, Joot. And you didnât tell me the level of threat these people are with the arrow. Is that the real reason you asked me to come?â
âWhat? No. Not at all. I can handle it. I just want you to be able to enjoy yourself.â He came over to you and rested his palm on your head.
You loved it when he made you feel smallâŚ
âNow, come on. We should get going before the evening hits.â
You tilted your head. âWhere are we going?â
âThat cake shop or dress boutique or whatever.â
You lit up, throwing yourself at him and snuggling into his strong chest. âYou actually remembered. We should test all the sweets Morioh has to offer~!â You purred. The way you talked sometimes gave him butterflies.
Jotaro smirked. âAnd you thought I wasnât listening.â
Jotaro was your guide around Morioh and you were his cute eye candy! He took you to the clothing shop you had been eyeing the most. You found it so romantic that you got to try on cute pieces of attire and have him be your personal judge.
It made you feel so warm inside when you would come out of the changing room with a silk dress on that hugged your curves and fit so beautifully while being so thin. The expressions heâd makeâŚ
Subtle or nonexistent to anyone else but to you was so obvious. His eyes would light up and look anywhere but your face.
âJotaroâŚJotaro!â You would wave your hand in front of his face to get his attention. âSo, should I add this one to the Speedwagon bill?â
âOh, Y-Yeah. Get whatever you want.â He told you, averting his eyes to something like a mannequin or a different dress that you had already taken off.
The one thing he was so grateful for was the privacy this changing room gave. No one else would see what youâd show him or how awkward heâd get when you asked him any questions that had to do with your body.
âBut JoJo, I want your opinion.~â You spoke to him in a cute sultry baby voice. You only did it when you wanted one thing from him.
You walked over to the resting chair that he has been patiently waiting in and settled your self in his lap. You rubbed your cheek against his own like a cat trying to transfer scents. The only difference is that this âcatâ was human sized, petite, sexy and wearing a silk mini dress with lace underwear.
âOkay okay. Just not here.â But his words didnât match his actions. You felt his big hands secure themselves around your waist.
Without a word, you kissed the crook of his neck, making your way to his cheeks and before placing a chaste kiss on his lips. That set him off.
âGet what youâre getting so we can go to the hotel.â He commanded lowly. This only made you smile. He was just too cute.
âBut we havenât gone to the dessert shop yet. Letâs eat a little cake first.â You licked your lips and narrowed your eyes at him.
A groan escaped his throat, making you giggle. âDonât worry. Iâll buy the dress and wear it for you soon. Letâs get going.â
You tried to get up but his hands were still holding you in place.
âJotaro, honey, Iâm gonna need you to let go.â
After changing, you went to the nearby dessert shop. Your simple little lewd interaction with him caused a change in his behavior. He wasnât his typical dismissive self. You knew he disliked PDA but he was more tolerant of it and more likely to initiate it when he was in a horny mood.
It wasnât you just grabbing his arm or his hand to guide him as you walked along. He began to take lead with an arm around your waist. His adorable version of holding hands.
âDo you think we should take some cookies and cake to go?â You asked politely. You really enjoyed getting his input on things. Jotaro nodded. âYeah, sure.â
âGreat!â You then turned to the baker. âCan I have this?â You pointed to various fresh sweets through the warm glass and felt a bit happier every time it was bagged up. âAre there any things youâd like too, Jotaro? You should at least pick something out for later.â You informed him. âIâm not sharing any of my stuff with you.â You then stuck your tongue out at him to tease a little.
Jotaro rolled his eyes before making his own order of baked goods, mostly consisting of brownies and cookies. After spending some time at the bakery,. The two of you found that it would be nice to settle down at the hotel for the night.
You decided to take a shower first so that when it was Jotaroâs turn you could surprise and you did!
When Jotaro had come back from his shower, he found you on the clean bed wrapped in satin, eating some of the desserts you just bought. Like a present waiting for him.
He had only been wearing some pajamas, not expecting you to actually, ya knowâŚwear that.
âWhat are you doingâŚ?â
You smiled. âWaiting for you.â You answered. âNow, come to bed!â
You guided him to the bed where you could really feel him physically relax. He was always on his feet.
âI really enjoyed today with you.â You whispered to him. âI appreciate you taking me here as a way to cheer me up as well. Youâre so very sweet.â You then began to kiss his face. âIâm so glad I married you.â
All Jotaro could do was blush at your affection. He would be hiding the red tint on his cheeks with his hat if he never got ruined.
âYeah yeah, woman.â He replied, letting you kiss all over him because it was undeniable that he craved them more than heâd like to admit.

âź chapter six of fernâs danteâs inferno collab: sloth âź masterlist for collab! âź banner credit: @sightoru âź word count: 5.3k even âź warnings: dark content, noncon, self doubt, death, guilt.
âthou seest how sloth wastes the sluggish body,                        as water is corrupted unless it moves.â
struggling gears groaned against their rusted neighbors and rattled through the elevator shaft. you had thought that you would have been immune to the sound by now, but each screeching grind of metal pierced through your eardrums and sent shudders down the length of your spine. not only did you wrap your arms around yourself to quell your fearful tremors but to find some sort of warmth. the farther down you went, the colder and colder it became. the creaking elevator was beginning to seem more and more like your designated spot in the mortuary cabinet rather than your transport. at least you were not alone, although, you may as well be.Â
your companion was not ideal.Â
you couldnât tell whether or not sir nighteye was a comforting presence or a chilling one. his tepid demeanor unsettled you while still bringing you some sense of relief.Â
so lost between the flashing images of your previous encounters and the fear of those that have yet to come, you hadnât noticed the slowing of the elevator until it came to that familiar albeit jolting stop. it bounced for a moment, each vibration sent through you acting as an ominous countdown. dread bubbled deep within your core, threatening to release the bile just waiting to come up. what were you to expect? you were triumphant in the prior circles, but your âvictoriesâ thus far felt hollow at best. while physically you had escaped each circle, you couldnât help but feel that bits and pieces of your soul had been left behind along the way.
finally, the elevatorâs motion slowed to a stop. you swallowed hard, balling your fingers into fists against your sweating palms. trying to center yourself, you forced your focus onto sir nighteyeâs voice as he began to speak. âthis,â a long, skinny finger gestured to the glowing red six above the elevator door, âis sloth. you must remain vigilant here. whatever you do, you must not give in.â
his words were almost as chilling as the shrill screech of the elevator doors parting ways.
âoh, and,â that ominous glower appeared in his eyes once more, âgood luck.â
you turned over your shoulder some, feeling the resolve you had tried so desperately to build crumbling away now that the doors were open. with a deep breath in, you willed yourself to move forward into the darkness.Â
remain vigilant.
you scoffed internally at his words. easier said than done. the least he could do was give you some sort of help. he was the one that had gotten you into this mess in the first place, right? he should have just left you in those woods, you could have figured out--
you stopped dead in your tracks as you started to take notice of your surroundings. fluorescent lights hung from the ceiling, some of which were shattered while the rest flickered and buzzed. a wall of broken windows laid to your right with only a vast darkness behind them. it was abysmal. in the reflection of the shattered panes, you saw the image of yourself scattered within jagged pieces. for a moment, you could have sworn you saw someone standing behind you but found no one when you turned.Â
looking around once more, you continued on down the hallway, keeping an eye on the doors to see if there was anyone around. each door was marked with letters and numbers. you couldnât help but be reminded of a school with each room that you passed. the further down the hall you went, the heavier the air felt. goosebumps infected your body and made every hair stand up on end. even your legs were beginning to feel weighted, as if they were starting to sink down into the floor with every step.
you must not give in. sir nighteyeâs words pushed you to persevere against the gut instinct telling you to turn back. you had already come this far, you couldnât stop now. to stop now would mean that every trial and tribulation you had faced already would be all for naught. you had to get to your mom. if she was somewhere in this place, past all these damned circles, you would find her and take her home.
your thoughts were halted by the sound of footsteps behind you. whipping around, your eyes searched frantically through the flickering lights to find whoever may have been following.
it was empty, save for the shattered glass and crumpled papers littering the floor. the pounding of your heart within your chest was deafening, but you tried to swallow it down with the lump in your throat. you just couldnât shake the feeling that someone or something was watching you. a malevolent, foreboding presence. having to resist the instinct to call out for whoever--or whatever--was shadowing you, you started to turn before you heard more footsteps coming towards you down the hall. they sounded close, too close to not be able to see the source, but the hall still remained empty. panic gripped your core and forced you into flight. your eyes just barely caught the chipped, red markings on the wooden door as you pushed your way into the classroom closest to you.
1-A.
muttered curses spat past your lips as you practically flung yourself over a desk after barreling into the room. it slid across the linoleum with a jarring screech, causing you to wince both in pain and with fear that you had definitely given away your location. your body lay frozen, heaped over the desk in tense anticipation for the sound of the door opening. frantically your gaze tried to adjust to the dark, only having the light coming through the window in the door to illuminate the room.
it was definitely a classroom. desks were scattered all around in some sort of disarray. some of them were broken and laying in pieces while others were still assembled and in their rightful places. you slowly pushed yourself up from the almost toppled desk, subconsciously brushing the dust and dirt from your front. for now, you felt as though the danger had passed. no longer did you hear the phantom footsteps, only the familiar buzzing of the lights outside of the classroom. with a sigh, you turned to leave.
as you turned to step towards the door, you froze in place. a strange ruffling sound started from the corner of the room. cold sweat formed on your back as the sound just seemed to get louder. as you got the courage to turn around, your knees started to buckle. a tall, looming figure was slowly emerging from a yellow cocoon. a mass of inky dark hair shrouded his face from you. you squinted in the dark to make out whatever details you could, but jolted back when his gaze suddenly pierced through your own. it was glowering and red, baring down at you like the famished glare of a wolf. the thick locks of hair started to stand on end, giving him a much more malevolent appearance as he remained half hunched in the corner. a straight row of glimmering teeth were bared to you in a menacing smile, causing you to gasp and turn to make your way to the door. again, sir nighteyeâs message rang through your mind:Â
remain vigilant.
a material that was both metallic and malleable shot forth from the darkness behind you, wrapping around your ankle and dragging you back. you cried out as you fell hard into one of the desk chairs, struggling to see what had pulled you down through the darkness. your eye finally caught something, trailing it back to the figure encroaching on you as he stepped fully from the yellow sack.
eyes like embers pierced through you, anchoring you to the spot. you hadnât noticed it in the corner before, but you cursed yourself for not looking more carefully. as he stepped forward, you felt your breath hitch within your throat, fingernails biting down into the wooden desk surface. your mind screamed for your muscles to move. internally, it begged for you to run or hide away, but the closer he came, the more you sunk down into the chair.Â
you must not give in.
âso, youâre the one he sent.â
deep, gruff voice filled your ears and sent a shiver down your spine. it was flat and lifeless, but still holding the same baleful aura that radiated from him. it felt as though there was no effort behind his words, no emotion. just a cold, detached voice that glued you to the seat beneath you. as he stepped forward, you noticed his hands in his pockets. he was wearing some sort of dark jumpsuit that hung loosely around his form with a long, coiled material around his neck. it was stretched out on one end, leading down to your ankle.
he pulled me down with that? you thought, blinking up at him with parted lips. though you wished to speak, your throat was closed up in fear. he seemed familiar somehow, as if you had seen him before, but you were unable to place it. all you could do was stare at him, which only seemed to displease him further. the grip around your ankle tightened enough to make you wince, watching as he moved to stand just in front of you.
âwhy are you here?â
subtle disgust laced his tone, watching a very slight sneer form over his face. suddenly, the room came to life. a low buzzing hum started from above you both before the fluorescent lights flickered on. you squinted through it, blinking to try and adjust your vision to the sudden change. a hand raised instinctively to block your eyes, peering through the slits in your fingers to the man that had appeared from the once shadowy corner. now, you could make out the golden sleeping bag slumped against the walls, laying unzipped and deflated.
your attention was snapped back to him as he stepped directly into your line of vision. you could get a good look at him now, noting the way his long dark hair fell back down around his scruffy face. there was a scar beneath his eye, both of which were now just as dark as the vacant space outside of the windows in the hall. like a blackhole, you felt yourself getting sucked into the intensity of his stare. somehow, you finally managed to break away from his magnetism and force the words from your lips.
âi need...to find my mom.â
he noted your hesitation, something resembling disappointment reflecting in his eyes. for what felt like an eternity, he stared down at you, as if daring you to try and move. even if you wanted to, you werenât sure that you could. the longer you held his gaze, the weaker your muscles felt. even willing a finger to move seemed to take more energy than you could expend. still, you tried to cling to what little strength sir nighteyeâs words had given you before. you got through the other circles, you could get through this oneâŚ
....right?
âitâs too late for that.â
finally, his response came, and you couldnât help the twinge of pain from within your heart. the devoid tone he held threatened to suck away the small sliver of resolve you had just made for yourself. you watched as he stepped around to one of the desks beside you, leaning back against the top much too nonchalantly. his movements were sluggish and tired, he too seemed bogged down by the energy of this place. it was a crushing weight that only seemed to grow more and more intense the longer you spent here.Â
and it didnât look like you would be leaving anytime soon.
âyour mother is in the ninth circle. you wonât make it past here.â
the matter of fact manner in which he spoke sparked annoyance within you. with furrowed brows, you spoke determinedly against the crushing weight. your eyes narrowed at him, forcing yourself to meet his bloodshot stare with this newfound façade of bravery.
âiâve made it so far. who are you to say i wonât make it out of here?â
you couldnât tell whether your words displeased him or surprised him, for his features remained flat and lifeless the entire time you spoke. it was only the slight twitch of his brows that gave you the sense that his own annoyance was brewing.Â
âyou lack the conviction.â
his words took you back for a moment, lips parted and jaw slacked in the shock of his declaration. the...convictionâŚ? did he think that you didnât truly want to save your mom? your eyes remained narrowed slits as they stared at him, finding the strength to speak to him again.
âyou donât know me.â
âi know all who enter here. this is my domain.â
anxiety pooled in your stomach as he revealed himself. so, he was the one in charge of sloth? you had not expected to find him so quickly, but you also hadnât expected someone quite so...gruff? was he supposed to be a teacher here? he looked...homeless. shaking the thought from your mind, you tried to focus on him again. for now, he was answering your questions, right? you might as well take advantage of that.
âyour domain? so, youâre the one in charge here?âÂ
instead of answering, he just stared at you with that empty gaze. he seemed tired and lethargic, but, every so often, you saw a glimmer of something within him. something chilling. Â you knew you should have been trying to make a break for it and run, or trying to figure out a way out of here, but you still couldnât get yourself to move. all you could do was force yourself to speak and try and find some answers. figuring he wouldnât answer that question, you spoke up again.
âwhat do you mean i lack the conviction?â
it seemed that was the right question to ask, as he kicked up from the desk and stepped forward until he was finally looming over you once more. again, your breath hitched in your throat, raising your chin so that your eyes could follow his own. despite his shaggy appearance, he was handsome. even more so than before, he seemed familiar to you, but you could not place him. all you could do was stare.
âyou couldnât do anything to save her before. what makes you think you can now?â his words took you aback, feeling the threat of tears building in your eyes. the omniscient way he spoke down to you was tearing away at your determination to make it through. how could he know anything about your mother? how could he even begin to understand what it was like to watch your rock in life waste away and having there be nothing you could do to help her? for your entire life, your mother was there for you. every hardship you came across, she was there to offer kindness, love, and worldly wisdom. if only she was here nowâŚ
âshe was sick...there wasnât anything i could do.â
your voice was barely a whimper, struggling to push past the emotion that had risen up your throat. countless times you had wondered whether or not there was something that you could have done differently. that somehow, some way, you could have managed some miracle to help her get better. realistically, you knew there was nothing you personally could have done, but the way he spoke down to you only rehashed those feelings of guilt and denial that you thought had long since been buried. ânot anything?â his head fell to the side, tilting towards his shoulder and shifting long hair with it. âi've heard every excuse there is. regardless of your reasoning, you will end up here. they all do.â
at that, your head shot towards the door as you heard a wailing cry in the distance. more and more started to come forth, echoing down the long, vacant halls. they were just beyond the door, crying for someone to help them. for a moment, you thought you heard yourself among the cries.Â
your attention only snapped back when another end of the scarf he wore wrapped around your neck and forced you to look back to him. fire burned behind his gaze as he stared down at you, pulling at his scarf to yank you to your feet. instinctively, your hands gripped the cloth around your throat, struggling to pull it away enough to breathe. he wrapped it around his fist and pulled you even closer, almost gagging you with the scent of brimstone that seemed to radiate from him. you shuddered at his closeness, feeling your stomach twist into knots, but you couldnât look away. again, the magnetic pull of his gaze forced you to look at him.Â
âdo you hear them?â
meekly, you nodded, almost unable to hear him over the crescendo of wails coming from down the hall. you struggled to try and keep your head, desperate cries of agony drowning out logic and reason and replacing it with guilt.Â
you lacked the conviction.
âtheyâre just like you. try as they may, they will never succeed to free themselves. what good is a hero without the strength to do what must be done?â
a...hero?Â
realization hit you like a brick as you suddenly recognized the man before you. he was a teacher at ua high school. you had seen him on the news quite a few times trying to clear up the distrust for heroes that was growing in society. it always seemed that he was trying, so how did he end up here? the thought plagued your heart with dread.
if even a pro-hero could end up here, what would that mean for you? it was almost as if he could sense the dejection creeping in, the corner of his lips starting to twitch up into the ghost of a smirk. slowly, he started to circle around you, the part of his capture device around your ankle starting to coil itself up your leg as he did. your throat suddenly felt dry and hoarse, unable to even force yourself to speak. weakly, you tried to pull at the tightening cloth around your neck to no avail. was this how it would end? stuck in the sixth circle? you had barely been here for ten minutes, but it already felt as if you had been trying to escape for years.
âi was met with a choice once. i had a chance to help, but i didnât have the confidence to do it, yet i still had the nerve to become a hero. i was a mockery, as they all are. as you are. your cowardice will bring your failure. there is nothing you can do to change it,â he stepped up behind you now, his voice low and sultry against your ear. it was the first time it had changed from its dull monotone, âso why even try?â
why try? you had to...it was the only way that you could get your mom back. it was the only way that you could survive everything that you had already been through. you had to try, but you couldnât find the strength. your body felt heavy, like a sinking weight drifting into the depths of dark waters. sullenness was creeping in, nurturing the seeds of guilt he had sown within your mind and heart.
was there a point to fighting on? even if you could reach your mom, would you be able to bring her back? would bringing her back even be worth the struggle? he was right. you werenât strong enough to do it before, what made you think you could do it now when the odds were stacked even higher against you? again, you cursed sir nighteye for dragging you into this mess.
your hands which still struggled to pull at the bind around your throat were starting to weaken in their fight against him. he pressed himself against your back, using the scarf to pull you flush to his torso. you could feel his hand at your hip, anchoring your backside upon his pelvis. a gasp betrayed you, your head falling back onto his shoulder.
âstay here. where else is there for you to go?âÂ
the hand at your hip was shifting forward, slipping towards the hem of your skirt. you could feel the rough pads of his fingers just brushing the top of your thigh. the same goosebumps you got before infected your body like a plague once more, travelling down your spine with a little shiver. again, you found yourself at the mercy of inferno, becoming nothing more than a doll in the hands of a sinner. through the fog settling in your mind, you managed to pray for help. for someone to help release you.
âsurrender to me.â
you were unable to fight against the pull of your leg by his scarf, parting your thighs for his hand that roamed you freely. it slipped between your legs, gripping the tender meat of your loin with the same hunger that had reflected within his eyes earlier. like a spider, he had laid his trap with ease and caught you swiftly in his tangled web. you struggled to move away from him, but your motions were half hearted and tainted with defeat.Â
what was the point?
you could feel his hand slipping up to your panties, pressing against the sensitive bundle of nerves between your legs. you wanted to cry out for help, but all you could manage was a meek moan, once again betraying yourself. no, no, no, you thought, eyes desperately searching the room for some way out, this canât happen. i need to get out of here.
i need to find my mom.
âw-what are you doing?â you just barely choked out, peering at him from the corner of your eye.
âfor satan finds some mischief still for idle hands to do.â again, his words took on that headiness he had lacked before, running his tongue up the expanse of your neck and to your ear. it disrupted your thoughts, bringing out a soft groan from you.
each time your mind found some sort of clarity, he dragged you away from it with more devilish touches. his fingers started to circle you, sending another chill down your spine and tremor through your legs. whenever he spoke, his lips brushed against the shell of your ear. his breath was warm on your skin, almost seeming comforting against the cool air. for a moment, you wondered how bad it would really be to just let it all goâŚ
you must not give in.
again, those words plagued your mind and tried to force you away from the growing heat between your legs. he had warned you this time, tried to prepare you in some way for what was to come from this circle, but all you had done was complain. you cursed him for bringing you into this mess when you were the one who agreed to follow in the first place. again, you felt guilt twinging your heart. you were too much of a coward to do anything for your mom. you were a fool to believe you could have moved past this.
âsurrender.â his voice in your ear was reeling you in like a sirenâs song, dragging you further and further down into the depths. his touches made you feel like you were sinking almost into sleep. your legs gave out, the full weight of your body being supported by him. his attention turned to the silent tears that streamed down your cheeks as you stared absently up at the ceiling. you could barely register the feeling of his tongue sliding up your face to collect the salty trail that rolled down. with every touch, you felt more and more of your energy being siphoned from you. between this place and him, you were being drained of everything you had left.
iâm sorry, mom. i just couldnât do it.
finally, your eyes closed. you couldnât help but wonder how sir nighteye would feel about your failure. would he be disappointed? or would he remain indifferent?Â
what would happen to your mom if you stopped here?
it was that question that brought your eyes to open again. you tried to ignore the starved bites to your neck and the hands that continued to touch you. to find your focus through the fog in your mind was a struggle, but you somehow managed as you continued to think of your mom. memories of her came flooding in, a lot of which you had buried deep since her passing. they hurt too much to remember before, leaving you too afraid to relive them for fear of ripping open the wounds again. now, you didnât care. you forced them to come to the surface. with every thought of her, you felt your strength starting to return. you know he could feel it too, as his opposite arm started to circle around your waist and keep you pressed against him. as if trying to erase the strength you were building, his hips moved along your own, rubbing his arousal against your backside.
the temptation to fall back again was great, but you forced yourself to break past it. with a shove, you pushed yourself away from him. you hit the cold linoleum with a hard smack, feeling blood starting to drip from where your forehead had smashed into the floor. the fabric of his capture device had pulled you down, but it was loosened now. bleary eyed as you tried to catch your breath from the impact, you looked over your shoulder to see where he was. his vacant stare was alight with burning embers once more, smoldering down at you with such great intensity. again, his hair rose around himself.Â
âyou think you can run?â
you didnât have time to answer before he was on top of you, trying to pin your arms down by your head. you screamed and twisted your body beneath him, crying out as he shoved his knee into your hip to pin you down. despite his strength, you still struggled and fought as much as you could. no matter how he touched you, or what words he said into your ear, you would not give up here.Â
âyou think you can escape me?â
his lips collided within your own, violently claiming yours and invading your mouth with his tongue. the heat that had radiated from him before was nothing like it was now. it threatened to burn you as he forced himself upon you, a bruising grip on your wrists as he tried to keep you down.Â
you understood now that the bondage of guilt was self imposed, but you knew he was going to do anything to keep you beneath him. to keep you here in this place, stuck with all of the others who fell into laziness and apathy. those who lost their care to do what was right because they could not find the strength to surpass what they found to be too difficult.Â
again, you heard the wailing cries of the students outside of the classroom, begging for someone to release them, but that was just it. no one was going to come to release them.
they had to find the strength to release themselves.
with all of your might, you shifted on the ground and pushed up with your leg. your voice was found again, yelling out as you propelled yourself up and threw him off of you and into the podium at the front of the room. his head smacked against the metal, grunting in response. in that moment, you felt the cloth around your leg and neck fully release itself, and you scrambled up from the ground while pulling away the ties. without hesitation, you ran for the door and pushed yourself out into the hall.
the halls were no longer empty, but lined with students. they were battered and bruised, their training uniforms practically ripped to shreds. you gasped as you stepped out from the classroom and felt your foot starting to sink into the ground. looking down, you saw that the floor was no longer the solid linoleum it was before but had become mud. the students struggled against it, weakly lifting their legs to no avail and crying out as they couldnât release themselves. they reached for you, gripping your shoulders and begging for you to save them.
panic was settling in your heart, fearing that it would beat out of your chest from how fast it was pumping. you turned over your shoulder to see the man in the classroom starting to stand up, the red in his gaze seeming even more intense than it had been as it found you in the doorway.
it was now or never.
you forced yourself again to use all of the strength that you could muster to push past the suffering students and move down the hall. your muscles were aching against the pull of the mud trying to keep you back, but you pushed yourself to keep going. you couldnât stay here. not with them. not with him.Â
you couldnât give up.
you knew he was behind you, moving through the thick mud with much more ease than you had, but you couldnât turn back to face him. you kept your eyes ahead, shoving past those who were in your way. the hallway was starting to fade into darkness, the fluorescent lights going out one by one as you made your way beneath them. at the very end sat the elevator, illuminated only by the numbers that were counting up to six. sir nighteye was returning for you.
âyou wonât be able to save her. you might as well stop here.â
the manâs voice called after you, trying to lure you back to him. the temptation was great, especially as you felt your body start to slow, struggling to fight the exhaustion that was settling into your bones. you were panting; your chest heaving as you tried to force air into your burning lungs. fire was ripping through your body, threatening to seize your muscles, but you still kept on. you kept playing those memories of your mom over and over in your mind to help push you farther and farther away from the man. you could hear him behind you starting to speed up, angrily yelling for you to just give in. it almost seemed as if he was desperate for you to stay.
the elevator doors started to open as you got closer, the familiar face of sir nighteye looking at you from the inside. in some ways, it almost looked as if he was pleasantly surprised. with a final bound, you lept inside of the elevator shaft, just barely missing the end of the manâs capture scarf as the door started to close behind you.
with your chest heaving, you pressed yourself against the wall and watched as the doors closed just before his reaching hands made it to them. relief flooded you as the elevator began to descend, never thinking that you would be so thankful to hear the chilling grind of its gears once more.
âi didnât think you would make it.â you scoffed at the words from the man beside you, shooting him a glare as you tried to readjust your clothes.
âgee, thanks.â
your gaze turned up towards the numbers before turning to him again.
âwhatâs next?â

ONESHOT ALERT
Fandom: The Vampire Diaries.
Ship: Klaus x Damon
*saves lover with stealth*
It's been months. A small comment here and there, turned into a complex web of lies. All to save the one man his friends were trying to kill. It started simple, with an extra drink to keep him in the bar, or a comment leading to a brunch date, to keep him from going to the scene of his planned murder. Then it turned into presenting plans to his friends that are bound to fail, establishing every detail in advance to ensure a safe and seemingly coincidental escape for the man he cared for. Finally it escalated into lying to his friends about his location and smuggling the man into his house, where he now lay in his bed with the man wrapped in his arms, out of harmâs way.
Two men walked into a bar, looking for different things. Damon sat down in front of the bartender and asked for two shots of tequila. Klaus talked with some friends before joining the lonely man at the bar.
âHello Damon, donât you think youâve had enough of this for today? You were here a few hours ago.â He spoke in a smooth British accent, while stealing the shot glass from Damonâs hand and downing the addictive substance in one gulp.
âWhat do you need Klaus? I had a rough day and I am not nearly drunk enough to be having this conversation.â Damon grabbed the second glass from the table.
âI need to know what those wannabes you call friends are planning. And you, my dear Damon, are the perfect source of information. So, care to share?â
Damon knew they were planning something, something big. Stefan had suggested not making the plan location-dependent as past attempts had failed. Tonight, Bonnie, Stefan, Elena, Caroline, Tyler, Jeremy, Matt and Alaric were going on a full-blown manhunt to find Klaus. They would search the entire town, each armed with a white oak stake. The plan was simple; track him down, hide, call the others and everyone pounces on him while one stabs him in the heart. The issue was that Damon couldnât tell Klaus this as he would seek revenge, but he couldnât think of a non-obvious place to hide him.
âNo plan that I know of.â
âOh love, my knowledge may be limited when it comes to you, but I can smell a lie from a mile away.â
âI have no clue what you are talking about?â Damon squeezed the glass between his fingers.
âWell then, Iâm going to sit here until you tell me all about this super secret plan. Even if I have to force it out of you.â
Damon laughed bitterly, âThen enjoy your stay.â It was foolish, keeping Klaus in an open bar, where he can easily be spotted. He knew that. The search began at nine, it was eight-fifteen. He needed to think of something and fast. He lied to Stefan earlier, telling him that he was unable to participate in the hunt, as he was feeling sick. Stefan was skeptical but let it go.
Then it hit him, he needed Klaus to follow him back to the Salvatore Boarding house. There they would hide in his room as no one really goes up there. He quickly downed the shot, signaling for another. Klaus looked at him, questioning his sudden change in Damonâs demeanor.
âSlow down there, mate. Being drunk makes you easier to compel.â Klaus said after Damon ordered a third short of branded tequila.
Damon had a plan. He needed Klaus to think he was helping him. It wasnât the brightest idea to get drunk right before an escape plan, but it was necessary. He needed Klaus to take him home for the night and in his drunken state he would convince the wanted man to stay with him.
It needed to be real, so neither Klaus nor Stefan would be suspicious of him. So he downed another shot⌠and anotherâŚ. and another. The amber liquid burned his throat with every sip.
Klaus was looking concerned at this point. He would never admit it, but he cared for Damon. They had spent the last few months drinking together, eating together and chatting to each other about common things.
Klaus was oblivious to Damonâs friendsâ attempts on his life and Damon shielded him from the violence. It was getting more difficult by the day but Damon didnât care, he needed to save his friend.
He was getting tipsy, swaying in his seat and starting drunken conversations with Klaus. After every shot, his words became more jumbled and slurred and the discussions became weirder. After fourteen shots, he couldnât walk straight and it was eight-fifty. He jumped up off the stool, slammed a one hundred dollar bill on the countertop and made his way to the exit. Klaus grabbed his arm, steadying him and keep him from going too far.
Damon stumbled forward, dragging Klaus with him into the woodland behind the bar. He couldnât go back to the boarding house through the town, they would be spotted. Klaus squeezed his arm, stopping Damon in his tracks.
âHey, where are you going? Your car is still there.â Klaus was concerned at this point.
âItâs fine, Iâll get it in the morning. W-walk with me?â Damon grabbed Klausâ hand, dragging him further.
The forest was smelled like rain, it was refreshing to be away from the smoke of the town. Every fallen leaf crunched under their soles as they walked together. Every so often Damon tripped over the root of a big tree or a tall branch that had fallen. Klaus managed to catch him almost every time. Even in this drunken state, Damon had enough sense of direction to know where he was going. Klaus on the other hand was completely lost, to him every single tree looked the same.
Klaus gave up on asking questions. He just clasped Damonâs hand and let him lead the way. The chatting started up again after a while and the sound of their voices mixed in with the sounds of the forest. Every silent moment was eerie, so Klaus was thankful for every noise Damon made.
After twenty minutes, the back of an old building came into view, the Salvatore Boarding House. Damon shakily strolled over to the house, Klaus followed while making sure Damon didnât fall. Damon pressed an ear against the wall, listening for the sound of a heartbeat. It was silent. He smiled and trotted over to the front door.
Klaus was lead into the house and hauled up the stairs into Damonâs room. Damon collapsed onto the bed, immediately reaching for Klaus as the warm hand left Damonâs upper arm.
âStay⌠please?â He hadnât forgotten about his plan, but this reaction to Klaus was real. Drunk but real.
Klaus chuckled and sat next to Damon on the bed. âWell, if we are going to sleep together, we might as well get more comfortable.â He took off his shirt and threw it to the floor. Damon started with discarding his shoes first and getting rid of his belt. Klaus followed soon after.
âIf you are about to tell me you sleep with a shirt on, you are a fucking liar.â Damon laughed at the remark and took off his shirt.
He slipped in under the covers and dragged Klaus in with him. He wrapped his arms around the older manâs waist keeping him still. His head rested against Klausâ chest.
Klaus looked down at him and draped him arm over Damon, returning the hug. Damon grinned against his chest.
After a few minutes, Klaus was asleep. Damon was still struggling. He held his loved one close, listening to the slow and steady heartbeat of the hybrid. Just seven hours, then the hunt would be over. He could do this.
He found himself laying there for the next few hours, awake but not daring to move. He couldnât sleep, not with the danger lurking outside. The danger he couldnât prevent.
He bathed in the heat Klausâ body provided and smiled every time he heard Klaus take a breath. It was nice laying there, next to the man he loved. But he hadn't admitted that to anyone yet, not even himself.
He leaned over, catching a glimpse of the red numbers on the screen next to Klaus. It was almost seven already. It didnât feel like ten hours had passed, but he knew it wasnât unlikely. The manhunt was over, he could relax. So he fell asleep for the first time in 25 hours.
BANG-
Damon fell on the floor with Klaus tumbling down onto him. Both men groaned. Damon looked up to see Elijah and Stefan looking down at him. He gave them a sheepish smile as Klaus got up off of him.
âDamon, what are you doing?! Did you sleep with him too?â Stefan was yelling at him, a weekly thing these days.
Damon and Klaus laughed at him before Klaus responded, âUnfortunately not.â That earned him a punch to the arm.
âNiklaus, why are you here?â Elijah asked calmly.
âI dragged him here, through the woods. Sorry, I kinda stole him.â
âItâs fine, great in fact. For the first time ever, Nik looks like he actually slept. Damon, Iâm impressed.â Rebekah told him with a smile, making her presence known.
Stefan was livid. He knew something was up, but he never couldâve expected this. His greatest enemy⌠in his brotherâs bed.
âHow dare you?!â Damon knew Stefan was angry but he couldnât admit to trying to kill Klaus in a room with three Originals. Damon was thankful as he was not ready for Stefan's righteousness speech, he was going to get later.
âIt was youâŚâ, Stefan spoke quietly with shaky breaths in between, âIt was you every single damn time⌠how could you do this to us, your friends. How could you do this to me?!â Stefan was almost laughing.
âListen, Stef, Iâm sorry. I needed to do somethingâŚâ
Klaus was beyond confused, he shared a glance with his siblings before stepping between the Salvatore brothers as Stefan slowly approached Damon. âWhat did Damon do?â
Stefan snapped.
âHe saved you! Thatâs what he did. We were planning your demise for months now! And every damn time, Damon saved you! He kept you from going to the old witches house on the night of the 23rd. He kept you from staying at your house on the morning of the 16th. He kept you from approaching the bridge on the 20th. He kept you from following Rebekah at the party on the 5th. And now he took you to the place he knew we wouldnât look, while we were tearing the town apart looking for you! He ruined every plan we had and he did it so flawlessly, it looked spontaneous. He was there for most of the attempts and yet with a text, a call or a voice message he ruined every single one. We thought it was a coincidence that you never showed up where you were supposed to, but now I see the truth. And I will rip him apart!â
Klaus couldnât believe it. This man saved his life so many times and he didnât even notice. He turned to look at Damon. The man just nodded at him. No expression was visible on his face.
âA little help here?â Rebekahâs voice broke the silence in the room as she stood in front of Stefan, keeping him from ripping Damon to shreds. Elijah stepped in, helping his little sister. They dragged Stefan out of the room, shutting the door behind them, leaving the two alone.
âSo every time you invited me to the Grill or to go on a roadtrip with you, you were saving me? Dragging me away, so your friends wonât get to me?â Klaus asked bewildered.
âNot every time, but most of them, yeah.â
âWhy? Why would you save someone like me?â
âWhat do you mean âlike youâ ?â
âDamon, I kill people because Iâm bored. I donât deserve this, what did I do to make you save me? I tried to kill you multiple times. I took your brother away. I sacrificed the woman you love to break a curse that only affects me. I nearly killed your best friend by possessing him for a month. I wouldâve used your friends in that sacrifice if it wasnât for you and I made you pay for my drink. And yet you saved my life more times than I almost took yours.â
âStop making me sound like an idiot. I saved you because you didnât try to change me. Every night I sleep here, I am made out to be the bad guy. They keep asking me to change myself to fit their needs. When I talk to you, I can be honest, share my opinions, voice my thoughts without being judged⌠without being told to change for someone else. You actually enjoy my company.â
Klaus smashed his lips onto Damonâs, wrapping his arms around his waist. Damon grinned into the kiss. He was successful.

This Months Writing
Sipping on your coffee, you ran your hand over your face as you try to finish off the paperwork from the last deployment. You tried to get this done in your home office but it was no good when your house was used as base when the boys were home. Or as Metal kept putting it âthe home of Bravoâ but it did make your life easier meaning you didnât have to worry about finding a sitter at short notice as you had at least one of the boys crashing at yours for whatever reason.
And at the moment it was a godsend, especially as you were looking after your Brotherâs triplets whilst he was going through the divorce. But having four kids under the age of 7 in the house was chaos, but you lived around big kids all the time so you could just about cope.
âGuys, someone has to take the boss some coffee,â Clay said, as he placed the plate of toast in the middle of the kitchen table. âAnd to swipe the walkies.â
Everyone fell silent. That silent you could hear a pin drop.
âOh hell no,â Sonny said, breaking the silence. âYou know how she gets when sheâs doing the reports. And it was your idea Blondielocks, so you should do it.â
âNo way,â Clay exclaimed, âI value my life thank you. â
âGuys letâs settle this like adults,â Metal said, with a serious look on his face. âRock, paper, scissors. We go around the group and do it as a knock out style thing and whoever is left standing has to take the boss some coffee and swipe the walkies.â
So that's how it was decided that Sonny was the one to go into the lion's den, armed with coffee and breakfast to hopefully make things go smoothly.
âQuinn, I see you.â You said not looking away from your screen.
âHow the fuck?â He muttered, âI swear you have eyes in the back of your head.â
âYou have to when you look after children,â you laughed, ânow Iâm busy so what do you want?â
âWe know you left without breakfast so I thought Iâd bring you some,â he shrugged, placing the food and coffee on the table.
âI donât buy it,â you said, raising your brow at him. âYou are up to something.â
âNope, just bringing the boss coffee.â He grinned, he had already swiped the walkies and needed to get out of here. âYou have a good day, and donât worry about anything, we have it all under control.â
âThatâs what makes me worry Quinn,â you glared. âJust donât burn my house down and donât lose a child. Thatâs all I ask.â
âHard copy, boss.â He nodded before leaving the room.
âMission success boys,â Sonny shouted walking back into the house, âOh and final words from the boss were don't set the house on fire and donât lose a child but she had no idea I swiped the walkies.â
âWell then, time to gear up boys,â Jase said, slapping his legs as he stood up. âKids have requested we wear our camo bottoms so hurry up we head out at 0900.â
Twenty minutes had passed and everyone was gathered in the living room.
âRight, let's just run through this one more time,â Clay said looking at the list on his phone.

âWell boys I think we are ready,â Trent nodded, âSo Brock has Cerb and Pepper, Iâve got the bag, so the rest of you get to keep an eye on the kids.â
Your daughter, Riley instantly clung onto Clay like a koala bear, your nephew Joey gravitated to Metal, Sonny scooped up your niece, Amber and Ray took your other Niece, Lola.
âLetâs hit the park,â Jase nodded, leading everyone out the house.
âWhat could go wrong,â Sonny laughed. âItâs not like we are gonna lose any of them. Thereâs four of them and seven of us.â
âDonât say that, you idiot,â Metal said, hitting Sonny around the back of the head. âDon't jinx things, now If things go south itâs your fault.â
âAnyone got have eyes on HVT one?â Jase asked down the walkie, as he scanned the park.
âHVT one is south moving toward the tyre swing,â Metal replied, âIâve lost eyes on HVT two.â
âIâve got eyes on HVT two, she is in need of refilling. Lure her back to base Three,â Clay said, as he squinted from the sun.
âCopy six,â Sonny called, as he calmly headed for Amber, who thought this was the best game in the world as her Uncle Sonny chased her. âHVT two inbound,â
âMy eyes are peeled,â Jase laughed, as he spotted Amber running towards him.
âFor the love of god donât forget the suncream.â Ray responded.
âCopy that,â Jase said, routing around the bag for supplies. He literally only took his eyes off her for two seconds but by the time he looked up she was gone. âAll call signs I have lost eyes on HVT two. I repeat I have lost eyes on HVT two.â
âI donât have HVT three or four,â Brock sighed âThey just vanished.â
âIs HVT one still at the tyre swing?â Ray asked.
âFuck, sheâs gone to.â Metal cursed.
âGuys we fucked up, boss is gonna kill us if we donât come home with a full head count.â Ray breathed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
âThree you know this is your fault,â Metal growled.
âHow is it my fault?â Sonny snapped. âYou're the one meant to be watching HVT One.â
âYou jinxed things, idiot,â Metal huffed, âTold you this would happen.â
âGuys, stop fighting,â Jase sighed, âLook just everyone reconvene at base and we put a plan together, they canât have gone far.â
You couldnât believe what you were hearing, you knew Sonny was up to something when he came in this morning but the big idiot forgot to pick up all the walkies meaning you could hear everything.
Pinching the bridge of your nose, you messed with the station trying to get a clearer sound. You wanted to see how this would play out, they all sounded pretty panicked but they should be. One of the rules was they could do whatever, go wherever but just donât lose anyone.
âYou okay Y/L/N?â Eric asked coming into the briefing room with some fresh coffee.
âDefine okay when the boys are looking after the tribe today, Sonny managed to swipe the walkies and now somehow they have managed to lose all four kids at the park,â you sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose.
âWell at least they had the sense to get the walkies I suppose,â Eric laughed, âyou know they will have a full head count by the end of the day, they wonât leave until they do.â
âI know,â you laughed, âbut Iâm gonna get them back.â
âHow the fuck have we managed to lose four kids,â Clay said running his hand over his face. âI donât get it,â
âBecause children like to fucking run off,â Jase snapped. âLook, we donât need to go into how it happened, it happened. Letâs just work the problem and get these kids back before we all get brutally killed. Operation find the kids is a go.â
âRiley likes water right?â Trent asked.
âYeah, sheâs a proper water baby, why do you ask?â Clay questioned.
âShe might have gone towards the lake.â Trent nodded.
âRight, Clay and Brock head to the lake and try to get Riley. We all know you are her favourite Uncle Clay so she might actually come back to you.â Ray said, making a call. âWe divide and conquer boys.â
âCopy,â Brock and Clay nodded, before running off in the direction of the lake.
âWhat about Joey?â Trent asked.
âThe woods definitely,â Jase nodded.
âIâm on it,â Metal nodded before disappearing.
âOkay so that leaves Amber and Lola.â Jase said.
âFuck I have no idea,â Ray sighed. âThey are both so quiet.â
âWe are just gonna have to split up.â Sonny said, âwe will find them.â
Two hours had passed and everyone apart from Brock and Clay were back at base. Three out of the four kids had been located and now sitting on the grass with Metal eatting some cookies.
âIâm gonna need a medic,â Clay said, his voice full of panic and cryâs could be heard in the background.
âHow far out are you?â Jase replied.
âAbout 5 mikes,â Brock replied.
Clay looked down at Riley in his arms, she was screaming and the tears kept coming.
âHey Riley-roo, itâs okay, Uncle Clay has got you. You are gonna be okay.â Clay cooed trying to calm down his god daughter.
âWhatâs the sitrep?â Trent asked.
âNot sure if itâs a broken wrist or just a sprain. She fell pretty hard on it whilst running.â Clay sighed down the walkie. âItâs official boys, we are dead meat when the boss gets home.â
The house was quiet when you got home, far too quiet. The only sound was the hum from the TV but even that was on low volume. Quickly glancing in the kitchen you rolled your eyes at the state of it. It looked like a bomb had gone off. There were plates and mugs everywhere along with McDonaldâs discarded wrappers.
Quietly you walked into the living room to see all the kids awake and all the boys fast asleep on the sofas. Riley was tucked under Clayâs arms, Joey was laying across Metal and Brock, Amber was sat in between Jaseâs legs and Lola was tucked under Rayâs arms.
âMummyâ Riley grinned as she saw you. âLook what I got,â she giggled, waving her casted wrist in the air.
âWhat happened baby?â You asked, crouching down to her level.
âI tripped and broke my wrist.â She pouted, âBut Uncle Clay took me to the hospital.â
âWell it looks like you all wore your Uncles out today,â you laughed, âbut just cover your ears for me kiddos.â
Once they all covered their ears with their hands, you pushed yourself to your feet.
âWake up you lazy shits!â You shouted, startling them all awake. âDid we have a good day?â You asked playing dumb.
âYeah it was amazing,â Jase nodded. âWe went to the park.â
âSo you did lose any of the kids?â You asked, placing your hand on your hip.
âNope,â Clay said, with a sheepish smile on his face.
âWell can someone explain this?â You said, pressing play on the recording.
The whole room fell quiet as they heard the conversation playback from early.
âSo wanna change your answer boys?â You glared. âI only have two rules and you fucking broke one of them. And my daughter has a bloody broken arm!â
âSorry, boss.â Sonny mumbled, not making eye contact.
âYou better be you idiots,â you laughed, âAt least you came home with a full head count. Now Clay move, you are in my seat.â
Once Clay had moved, you settled down in your spot.
âOh and another thing, Iâve had a long ass day typing up all the incident reports from J-Bad, I swear your band list gets longer each deployment,â you laughed, âbut Iâm not happy about the state of my kitchen so you can all get in there and sort it out.â
âYes, boss.â They all said, making you smirk. Not many people could make Bravo team sulk off with their tail between their legs but you could and it always made you laugh.
âAnd someone make me a bloody coffee, because I am not moving off this sofa for the rest of the nightâ

Blood Bounty - Part 1 (M)
Pairings: Yoongi x Reader, Taehyung x Reader Word Count: 10K Rating: M Genre: Historical fantasy AU, Vampire AU, Thriller, Drama, Smut Warnings: Non-consensual vampire feeding (graphic, provocative, sexual, blood play, and twisted as fuck), captivation/enslavement, blood, drugging (force feeding vampire blood), obsession, violence, PTSD, at one point the OC pleads for death, itâs dark guys youâve been warned. While the vampire feeding in this part is highly sexualized, I do have somewhat more âtraditionalâ smut scenes planned for part 2 and 3.
| Series Masterlist |
Summary: Heâs taken everything from you, your blood, your memories, your life, and after months spent as Taehyungâs own personal feast, you eagerly take your chance to flee. Unfortunately your escape doesnât go as well as you had hoped, as you are soon caught by another blood thirsty beast. The vampire Yoongi claims to know you, and that he wishes to return you home. But when you can only remember the pain caused by his kind, you find it difficult to trust him, since he too could just be another monster waiting to feed.
A/N: This mini-series is a loose retelling of Anastasia, youâll find it to be very different from the animated film. I attempted to blend both the history and the story together in a new historical fantasy world that is not our own. Anyway I hope you enjoy the start to my three part twisted tale, and if you have any questions at the end please feel free to send them my way! Also a big thank you to my beta readers @m00nchild-shiâ and @ladyartemesiaâ. This story wouldnât have made it this far without you!
This story is dedicated to all of those who have lost themselves to a monster (of any form) at some point in their life. I know the journey back to yourself can be hard, but trust me, you are worth every effort.Â
... Â
From the break of dawn youâve crossed miles of ground, traversing through grassy fields and deep rivers. Accompanied only by the clothes on your back, a stake in your hand, and a pair of boots far too big for your feet, all stolen during your hastened departure.Â
You consider yourself lucky after making it out unseen. Lucky that Taehyung had left his fortress of a castle, lucky that he took most of his capable progenies with him, lucky that the underling who tended to your room left the fire iron within your reach, and lucky that it was able to break the chain of the shackle fastened around your wrist. You left as soon as daylight broke. With everything working in your favour for your escape, even acquiring your captorâs clothes and cap to pass off as a young man. For sightings of a woman travelling alone might tip off those you would rather avoid. Â
But now, with your heels raw and bloody, it would seem that your good fortune has finally run out, as the smell will no doubt attract his hunters. You curse your carelessness, for the number of times Taehyung has complimented you for your most potent scent. Youâve witnessed it yourself, a single whiff of your blood during his feedings having sent several of his men into a frenzy. This unfortunate blessing left you to be seen as a bounty, condemning you to his captivity, and now the struggle as you flee for your life.Â
You attempt to clean the broken skin and stem the flow with strips torn from your tunic. The fine piece of clothing is barely recognizable after the paces youâve put it through today. With the extra fabric now wedged into your boots you can only hope that itâll make your journey tomorrow easier, and detain much of the scent that would allow them to track you.Â
You wish that you could continue on tonight, but the darkness of the wood, your sores, and your fatigue impede your plans. Youâve gained ground but the lack of settlements must mean that you still lie within his realm. With your memories stolen in an effort to keep you at his side you have little to go on but a tapestry that hung in his den. It showed a city to the east, beyond the boundary of his land, and what is hopefully your home. But with the woven display having no proper scale you have no idea how long it will take to actually leave his territory. Freedom could be hours or days away. You can only hope that the rivers youâve traversed will keep them at bay until you can find a safer place to stay. Their weaknesses are all you have to lean on to prevent recapture, but will it be enough?
After tending to your feet you settle in the nook of a tree, leaning your head against the mossy trunk. Your stomach growls but you have no food to feed it, nor a blanket to dismiss the chilling wind which forces a shiver from you. Your deflated spirit is made even worse when a raven takes notice of your poor state. It circles overhead, undoubtedly looming with the hopes that you have given in, and that he too can feast on you.Â
Ignoring the omen, you close your eyes, directing your focus instead on the surrounding sounds of the forest, listening for anything that might be a predator making an approach. Despite an exhausting day you still are wary of sleep, knowing what will greet you as you drift off, and concern of someone, or something catching up to you once you do. You rest there for what must be an hour, debating with yourself the advantages slumber, before you hear the snap of a nearby twig. Your fingers drift to the wooden stake on the ground next to you, your movement is slow hoping to escape the notice of whatever might be drawing closer. The footsteps which crunch on the leaves continue to advance on your position. Thereâs no running now, all you can do is play ignorance until they are in range for you to act.
When a hand reaches down and tilts the brim of your hat, you open your eyes, driving your weapon up in an aim to strike, but your assailant is too quick for you. He catches your arm in an iron grip, much like the remains of the manacle that still holds your other wrist. Though his face is hidden by the dark of night and his frame draped in a long coat, there is no doubt about what he is, and what heâs come for, his speed in stopping you was far too fast to be human.
âBe still,â the monster growls. âItâs me, Yoongi. Are you hurt?â
His concern is almost laughable. His implication of a connection likely a trap, one intent on luring you in, with a motive to end the hunt. âNot if you leave me be.â You attempt to press the stake towards him still, but he barely even registers your efforts.Â
âHave you forgotten me?â The beastâs grip tightens on your arm as he dismisses your threat, taking the stake in his own hand before he pulls you up while he continues his deception, âI know that to be what I asked for, but I didnât think... no, it matters not. â He shakes his head as his words trail off. His voice then returns resolute and firm once he changes thoughts. âCome, we must get you somewhere safe.â
You dig your heels into the ground as he attempts to pull you along, clawing at his fingers until they release you. âIâm not going anywhere with you vampire. You will not take me back to him, anywhere is safer than there.â
âI am not taking you back, but we must leave. Theyâve already placed a large bounty on you and these parts will be flooded with hunters soon.âÂ
âHow can I be sure youâre not one of those hunters?â You make an attempt to retake the stake, showing you have no intention of complying with him. But he pulls it back, holding it just out of your grasp.
âYou will have to take me at my word, I am not of Taehyungâs kin and I have no plans on handing you back over to him. Now if you please, I can either escort you to safety, or take you there by force.â
âI donât trust you.â You glare back at him.
âVery well,â the vampire sighs, tossing your wooden weapon aside, putting it far beyond your reach. He then bends down, throwing you easily over his shoulder, and thereby ending the argument over your fate. Your fists collide with his back several times in an effort to make him release you, but he doesnât appear bothered by the attack. You draw breath ready to call out when he stops you with a quick jostle. His shoulder lays into your abdomen knocking the wind from your lungs. âYou may hit me all you want, but do not scream. I would rather not alert others to our location.â
Could he really not be someone sent by Taehyungâs underlings? Regardless, even if he is, you donât have the strength to over power him. Thereâs little you can do but lay like a rag doll propped over his shoulder, with his arm hooked on the back of your knees.Â
He hauls you over to a break in the trees, one which leads out to the road where a horse waits patiently for him. Youâre thankful when he seats you on the saddle rather than throwing you on your stomach once again. With the full light of the moon on the open dirt road, youâre finally able to see his face properly. His soft and sombre expression is a drastic difference compared to Taehyungâs sharp features and cruel grin.
âAre you going to behave now princess?â
Your eyes widen with terror in response to his last word uttered. You immediately try to pull away to put as much distance as you can between you and him, but he holds you firm in the saddle. The confining grip matching the memories of the name he has just called you all too well. Your breathing comes in short panicked waves as your hand moves to conceal the scar on your neck. You canât go back, you wonât go back, you refuse to endure that supposed term of endearment anymore.Â
âPrin-â The vampire tries again to elicit a response from you, only this time you cut him off. Your fear turning to anger unwilling to tolerate another lie from his lips.Â
âIf you are not one of Taehyungâs clan then tell me, why do you address me in that manner?â
âYou donât know why I call you princess?â He gazes upon you, his eyes narrowed in confusion as you recoil once again. This time he takes your hand, which bears the weight of both the iron shackle and bitten brand, to hold you still. When you wince from the pressure of his touch, he looks down to examine the sensitive spot. His jaw stiffens as he finds the source of the pain. âWhat has he done to you?â He whispers softly as his fingers trail over the wound on your palm.Â
...
âOpen up princess, I have a gift for you,â Taehyung orders, standing over you as you sit on his desk. Gripping your jaw, while your lips remain sealed in defiance. âI said open.â His hand tightens, forcing your mouth to unfasten and expel a cry of pain. He presses the bloody tip of his finger to your tongue, dragging his index from the back to the front coating it with the thick fluid. âNow swallow.â
Your mouth begins to salivate with the intrusion of his blood. You know if you take it in you will lose everything once again, youâll lose the will youâve been building back up to defy him. He is never truly out of your system, you still have gaps in yourself, but the need to disobey always has its way of creeping back to you first. To be forced back into obedience within your own body and mind is nothing short of torture.Â
You refuse to allow him to drag you back to the dark willingly, spitting your saliva along with his blood into his smug expression.
Taehyung chuckles darkly as he wipes his face with the back of his hand. âYouâre right my princess. How could I think that only a drop would be enough to dispel your greed? You deserve more.âÂ
This time he bites into his hand allowing the blood to pool, while the other takes hold of your neck. The dripping flesh of his palm covers your gasping mouth. Your head is tilted back by his grasp as the blood drains down the back of your throat.Â
âYou will keep this down. You will accept my control. Every time you look at yourself you will think of me. When you close your eyes you will dream of me, for you can not run away only toward. You will remember nothing before me, and nothing before the night I bestow you with this.â His thumb passes over a three month old scar on your neck, continuing to mark it as the cornerstone of the earliest memory you possess.
Every week without fail he reweaves his bonds inside you, tending to them as a doting hunter with a valued prey. He takes his fill of you in between, sometimes itâs only a taste and others a full meal. Treating his desk as a dining table and you the feast, placing you down upon it for his consumption.Â
âI will have to leave you weak in the knees today princess if I must go without you for a fortnight.â His finger catches a drop of blood that escapes your mouth running it back along your lips before his hand moves away and down, trailing deep red lines down the skin of your jaw and neck. âIâm sorry to leave, but there are some pressing matters which I must attend to.â He portrays a look of sorrow, but you know better than to believe that he can possess a single human emotion. âYouâll be good while Iâm gone wonât you? Shall I give you something to remember me by? Another mark unhealed for you to see? You can watch as it slowly means, knowing that Iâll be back to tear you open again.âÂ
He lifts your hand to his face with his own bloody fingers. How you wish you could slap him away, but your body refuses to move on your behalf, after consuming his blood it yields only to him. Â
He does not hesitate before sinking his teeth into the base of your palm. Matching his own wound that he inflicted on himself, but as yours grows deeper, his begins to heal. He takes a long draft before releasing in a pant. Your blood acts like a drug to his system, making him as he so often puts it, âFeel alive again.âÂ
He wipes his palm on yours allowing the breach to clot, he doesnât mend it completely, instead leaving the painful imprint of his teeth, branding you anew, just as promised. âAppetizer, now entree Princess,â he mutters as he moves on, shifting to cradle your head and neck in his arms. You attempt to pull away, but that only forces him to issue the command, âStay still.âÂ
His face hovers over the pulse of your neck, with you now frozen beneath. His fangs are careful not to dive too deep, retracting just as the blood begins to trickle from your throat. It collects in the well of your collar and trails down your chest, seeping beneath the bodice of your dress. The white fabric of your garment starts to bloom with scarlet. He could have chosen a gown of darker cloth for your personal wear, one that would be less prone to display the gruesome patterns of his actions, but he prefers to see the art of your suffering, your clothes and body becoming a canvas for his great masterpiece. He mutters how beautiful it looks while his fingers add to the display, painting a ruby-red choker around your neck using the blood as a stain.
His eyes linger taking in the sight before he moves in again to collect the flow, lapping it off your skin like a beast amidst a drought. You cringe as his tongue crosses your flesh, relentless in its desire to gather every drop it can. And just when you think heâs finished it makes another pass, accompanied by a growl and another sharp nip.
Unlike your hand, he completely remedies the gash on your neck, leaving only the one scar upon your throat from his first feeding. The loss starts to hit you, your skin turning cold like his, your breathing shallow, and your pulse quick. You hope that might be the end, that he has had his fill and needs no more, but his hand then fastens on your leg having pushed up the hem of your skirt and thin petticoat. âLet me in princess, I still have room left for dessert.â His teeth skim across the sensitive flesh of your inner thigh mapping his preferred spot from your pained twitches.Â
You whimper as he clamps down for his last bite. The only solace you can take is that he will not be here for two weeks. You have more time without him feeding, time to gain back control, and time to escape. You stare off to the woven tapestry map behind him, not knowing where to go but longing to be anywhere but here.
...
âD-donât call me that.â Your demand catches and cracks at the back of your throat.
âBut itâs what you are-â
âI am not his dinner, I am not his slave, and I am most certainly not his princess! I will not go back. If you have any mercy, please... drain me here. For I am far more willing to meet death, than I am to see him again. â
To your confusion he looks shocked that you would even suggest such an act. He takes a moment before looking into your eyes with a narrowed gaze, âYou donât remember anything do you? Itâs not just me youâve forgotten.âÂ
You shake your head, unable to meet his eyes, âI remember nothing before him.âÂ
The vampire holds whatâs left of the iron shackle in his hands, bending it apart with only his grip, freeing you from itâs clutches.Â
There's another sigh from him as he takes the space on the saddle behind you. His body is uncomfortably close to yours, with his breath on your neck, and arms wrapped on either side to take the reins. âAnd I thought he could sink no lower...â He urges the horse forward with a nudge and a few mumbled words far too low for you to hear. âYou are right, you are not his meal, nor his property, but it is not simply a given moniker to which I am referring, itâs what you are. You are the only living heir of a human kingdom just east of here.âÂ
âYou lie, there is no way I could be,â This is just another game of his. It has to be. âIf I am what you say, how could I have ended up where I was?âÂ
âYou went missing, disappearing from your bed in the night. Your people assume that you were kidnapped, that you were taken by a monster, not knowing what we are. But I assure you, you are the lost pr-â He stops as you stiffen once again. âI can take you home, back to your family, back to your people, if thatâs what you wish.âÂ
âAnd why would you do that?â
âI broke a promise long ago, I plan to remedy that mistake.âÂ
âI fail to see how that applies to me.â You mutter as you slump down in the saddle, no longer fighting your current fate. This vampire too can easily overpower you, he can take you wherever he desires to go, but as long as itâs away from Taehyung you have no wishes to slow him down.
He pulls a skin of water from his horseâs pack offering it to you. Your dry mouth wants to empty it in one swig, but the possibility of what else it could contain holds you back. You turn your nose up instead fearing that heâs drugged it with his own blood.Â
âI have not tampered with it if thatâs what youâre worried about.â
âYou keep assuming your words carry weight with me. I will need more than that if I am to drink this.â
âIf I intended to manipulate you with blood I would have done so already instead of fighting to get you on the horse.âÂ
Heâs right, it would have been far easier. You take a careful sip rolling over your tongue, trying to detect even the slightest taste of iron before your swallow.Â
He holds out food too, in the form of a few pieces of dried meat. Your mouth waters at the sight. The unaltered drink gives you the confidence to abandon your worries and take it, asking more questions while you eat. âYou said I forgot you, but how was it that I knew you Yoo-â You pause trying to recall the name he led with when he found you.Â
âYoongi.â
You wait for more but he doesnât continue, after swallowing your current mouthful you press further. âAre you not going to tell me?â
âIt would be better if you remembered.â
âYou expect me to trust you, but then you hide truths?âÂ
âI expect you to trust me because I want you to recall your truth of our encounters, not mine. When you do I will gladly discuss it with you, but not until then.â His tone is stern, boasting an air of finality to his argument. Â
You huff back in frustration. âCan you at least tell me how long youâve known me?â
âMore than ten years now, you were a child of fourteen when we first met.â
âSo you must know my name? My real name?â You ask with near excitement, hoping it might stir up some of your past within you.
âI do.â But as he recalls it, whispering the name for you to hear, nothing happens. You thought when you heard it again that everything would come back all at once like a spell broken by one magical word. But the name that comes from Yoongiâs lips has no meaning to you, no memory, no warmth. It bestows only a cold emptiness, a fear that youâll never quite be able to bind yourself together with the person who bore that name before.Â
...
Hours later Yoongi pulls his horse off the path and into the woods, trotting down what looks to be an overgrown trail. You finally come to a stop in front of a mound, backed by an elevation of stone and earth, bearing a small cave-like entrance.
âWhat is this?â Â
âAn old mining site. Weâll have to stop here for now.â Yoongi helps you down off the horse before removing the tackle and taking the large pack, he ties his steed up with a long lead on a grassy patch. Once finished you follow him through the dark and into the cavern, lagging a few paces behind with your legs stiff and sore from the nightâs travel.
âBut thereâs still another hour or two until the sunrise. Why stop here?â Â
âBecause this is the last dark space thatâs marked for the next fifteen miles.â He opens one of the bags pulling out a lantern, he lights it, dousing the cold and damp walls of the cave in a warm glow. Taking out a thick piece of paper next, he unfolds it with careful precision, laying it gently across a leather pack. He acts as though itâs a precious heirloom passed on to him from a loved one long gone. Your heart starts to race upon realization that itâs a map, and how with itâs aid youâd be able to find your own way home. Â
Dark circles on the heavy parchment denote what according to the key is a resting spot. He opens it further pointing to both your current position and destination, your fingers tracing over a kingdom which he says is yours. With still three times the distance youâve travelled yet to traverse, much of your contentment fades.Â
Despite the blow to your morale, you continue your examination of the map, hoping to learn as much from it as you can. Itâs beautifully intricate and precisely made, the only flaw is an ink smudge in the lower left hand corner, which appears to be a faint mirror image of the compass rose on the right. Likely the result of the map being folded before the ink had completely dried. You run your index over the blot feeling much the same. A partial imprint of your past life, and a great distance away from what you must have been.Â
Yoongi watches you with a keen eye as you attempt to commit your future route to memory. âDoes it look at all familiar to you?â
âNo, I remember nothing of this land.â Not the names of rivers or cities return to you. How can you call a place home if you know nothing of it? âThank you for your assistance. I know you have to stop, but after seeing this I feel that I should keep going.â You offer cordially, praying that heâll agree to parting ways here.Â
âOh no you donât. Youâll stay here until the sun sets, and weâll continue together.â
âWhy should I? If the sun is out Iâm not at risk from vampires.â
âIt is still a while before we reach your kingdom. You can see that canât you? At least two more nights where you would be alone if I let you leave. Not to mention the risk from your own brethren. You havenât been among other humans enough to know that they can be just as malicious.â
âThen give me your horse and Iâll out ride them.â
âWhen was the last time you rode a horse on your own?â He asks lowering his brow, scoffing as his tongue pokes at the side of his cheek.Â
âI-I...â Naturally you canât remember, and he knows it. âIâll be fine.â
âYes of course youâll be fine, itâs not like there will be vampires nipping at your heels the whole way home. Do you know I could smell the blood trailing from your feet a mile away? I canât imagine they are in a good state. If the horse were to unseat you and run off, would you even be able to continue?â
You wince at the thought of treading forward on foot. The blisters are already a source of great agony, itâs painful to think what they would be like after another mile or two.Â
Yoongi notices the show of discomfort in your face, âLooks like youâll be staying with me then your highness.â
âIâd rather not...â You're grateful heâs stopped calling you by the other title, but that still doesnât prove his loyalty. âWhy are you so insistent on taking me home? Whatâs in this for you?â
âYour company.â
âI am serious,â you groan, casting a dark glare back at him over the candle light.
âSo am I.â He mutters his response, itâs so quiet you almost miss it.
âYou are insufferable! I should be taking advantage of the daylight, I should be putting more distance between myself and his prison. You should have left me there in the forest so I wouldnât have to deal with your so-called assistance.â
âForgive me for wanting to keep you alive and safe. It must be truly awful to have someone come to your aid.â
âYou are not someone, youâre a vampire,â you bite back against his sarcasm. âI take no pleasure in being in the company of your kind.â
Yoongi sighs looking defeated, following it with an odd request. âGive me your hand, the one with the wound.â
âWhy?â You clutch your palm to your chest in defence.Â
âIâll mend it properly for you, your heels too if youâd like. I want to help undo the damage that my kind has done to you. He should never have left you scarred like that.â
âHe shouldnât have fed off me in the first place!â You shout back your voice echoing off the walls.
âYouâre right,â Yoongi levels with you. âBut I canât imagine you want to keep it.â
âI donât, but I also donât want help from you! I would rather carry this than any more of your poison. So you can keep your blood to yourself.â
âAs you wish,â Yoongi responds, yet he still shifts towards you, encouraging you to back away and keep the space between you.Â
âIâm not going to...â His tone sounds exasperated but soon changes to a softer register as he looks at your terror ladened face. âJust, take this.â Yoongi passes over a bed roll before pulling one out for himself from the woven pack.Â
You stare at the bedding, questioning it, the convenience of such an item along with supplies all seem too good to be true. âWhy would someone who travels alone have a second? Why would a vampire have a stash of water he canât drink, and food he canât eat?âÂ
âI brought them for you. I knew you would need them on the journey.â His answer comes off as thoughtful, but the explanation still doesnât sit right with you, surely there can be no rational reason as to why he was so ready for your escape.
âYou expect me to swallow your perfect timing? That you just happened to be in the right place at the right time, ready to play the role of saviour-â
âWho said the timing was perfect? It has been anything but ideal,â Yoongi growls cutting you off. âI have been trying to get you back ever since I learned that you were taken. But we have limitations that prevented me from just storming his castle. A vampire can not enter the home of another without permission. I tried to get you, believe me I did. While you were trapped inside for five years, I was kept outside for just as long. But I have always been prepared to leave with you at a moment's notice.âÂ
You were ready to continue your argument again just as he was to finish, but one of his last reveals disarms you with an all too unpleasant fact. âH-how long did you just say?â
âFive years?â
âNo... thatâs not possible, I canât remember more than a few months.â
âPrin- your highness.â Yoongi catches himself as you turn to panic.
âPlease donât tell me that he held me for years.â You panicked whispers become sobbing pleas, you would gladly take the lie now. The thought of more tortures of imprisonment lying just below the surface of your memory is enough to make you want to do away with your entire past. Blindly tossing it all away and building it all anew, if only it worked that way.   Â
âItâs been years, Iâm so sorry, but youâve been with- youâve been missing for half a decade.âÂ
âWhy? Why would he take that too?â You whisper stand up clutching the scar on your neck, the mark you thought to be the first was likely a only a sequel to many. How many more lie hidden in your skin, healed and masked his blood? Feeling a pull to leave, you stumble towards the mining shaftâs entrance, unable to take another minute beside a monster who could do the same. Yoongi grabs you from behind, wrapping his hands around your waist to prevent you from progressing any further outside. You strain against him determined to go back out into the open air. âNo, let me go.â
âI canât do that, your highness.â Â
You turn into him pushing against his chest as you shout. âLet me go Yoongi.â He doesnât stop you from shoving, or cursing him out. He just stands there holding tight as you take out your loss on him.Â
âIf I were to do that his hunters would find you,â Yoongi warns. âIs that what you want? Because Iâm not ready to lose you to him again...â The last of his sentiment drifts off as if heâs said too much. His grip loosens to the point where you can slip away. As much as you want to turn out and run towards the sun heâs right, you can't risk losing another five years or maybe more. He nods down to the bed roll abandoned on the ground. âYou should get some rest, youâll need it for the journey tomorrow.âÂ
You obey, taking the bedding and lantern, wandering back farther into the cave and further away from the vampire. Slipping off your boots you find the cloth you had wedged in earlier caked with blood. You glance over to your nocturnal companion seeing if the reveal had any effect on him, but heâs already lying down, his back towards you, paying no attention. Desperate to dispose of the temptation you hold the two strips of fabric above the lantern flame. Fortunately they are dry enough to burn, leaving only ashen traces of the linen scraps. You redress your wounds with more fabric from your garment, but before curling under the blankets for the day you take one last precaution. With numerous broken branches littering the floor of the cave, you take the most jagged and sturdy, tucking in by your side. The sharp twig is not quite a stake, but a better defence than nothing at all.
...
Even after travelling all day and night with little rest it takes an age for you to fall asleep, not because of the hard ground, not due to the pain in your legs, nor the questionable motives of your new guard, but the knowledge of who youâll see once you do. Although Taehyungâs blood has lost control of your physical movements, his hold on your mind is still tight. You know youâll see him when you drift off, but your exhaustion is unwavering and your need of rest undeniable. Â
It seems like only moments after you close your eyes that youâre reunited. He lies there beside you back in his castle, with his own eyes closed, his face content with a small smile as though heâs just fed. But on this night, somethingâs different. You finally feel as though you have the power to fight back against him. The stake you had stolen from his collection, and promptly lost to the forest, found again by your side. Youâve always wanted this moment, taking vengeance on the one who put you through hell. Even if it is only a dream youâll embrace it though reality.
Mere inches away from his chest your hand is stopped by his. His eyes fly open and he tackles you back. âKilling me wonât grant you freedom, it wonât stop others from coming for you.â
âThen let them come,â you sneer back at him. âFor any life without you Taehyung will be a vast improvement, no matter how short or perilous.âÂ
Thereâs a quizzical look on his face, his thumb pushing into your palm trying to get you to realise the stake, âWake up your highness, itâs not what you think.âÂ
You are pulled from the dream to find yourself with your pitiful excuse for a weapon in hand. Pointing it at Yoongiâs heart as he hovers over you. You drop it quickly, and attempt to slide out from beneath him out of fear of retaliation. âI thought you were him.âÂ
He places a heavy hand on your shoulder preventing any further retreat on your part. âI figured that to be the case. Do you have these dreams often?â His tone is not angry, but concerned.
You relax with his understanding, âEvery night, he made sure it was so.â
âI know it wonât mend the past, but Iâm sorry... for what heâs done to you.â
âIâm sorry I attacked you...âÂ
âI canât blame you for that,â Yoongi admits with a curling smile on his lips. âIf I looked at myself and saw Taehyung I would respond in the same manner.â
You let out a small chuckle, leading to a surprised expression on Yoongiâs face. His smirk soon turns into a sad smile. âI want you to know, when you are with me, you are safe. No one will feed from you, no one will touch you, myself included.â
...
You wake to the sound of a raven in the early evening, the deep croaks of the bird carrying through the mine. Keeping your head down you glance with narrowed eyes to spy on the vampire who currently ties a small roll of parchment to the leg of the dark creature. It waits patiently on his knee until the knot is firmly in place, letting out another loud cry once Yoongiâs hand retreats.Â
âI suppose youâll be wanting more then?â Yoongi takes his index, and presses it down onto one of his sharp teeth, allowing a bead of blood to form on the tip. The raven then takes his finger into his beak and tilts his head back as it feeds on the red droplets. You start to gag at the sight, alerting Yoongi to your awakened state. The bird takes flight as your escort gets up to check on you, but as he comes closer you draw back. He pauses after his first couple steps, and asks from a distance instead. âAre you alright?â
âWhy did you feed it your blood?â You heave again at the thought, but with little in your stomach there is nothing to come up.
âHeâs delivering a letter for me. The blood is his reward; it keeps him healthy, but it also allows me to convey where he needs to go and who he needs to find.âÂ
âItâs disgusting.â
âThe raven is more than happy to take it as payment for his service. But I know of what you mean, when the exchange is done improperly...â Yoongi pauses as another wave of nausea overwhelms you again, âForgive me, I thought you were asleep, I didnât know you would be watching.â
âWhat were you sending?â
âNotice to my clan. I left my surveillance post, they will wish to know why.â
âWill that be a problem?â You hadnât considered groups other than Taehyungâs, but if you can avoid interaction with them all the better.
âNo, returning you home will be a greater blow to Taehyung. He has likely built a dependence on your blood and without you heâll be left in a far weaker state. We might finally have a chance to diminish his hold on the region.â Yoongi takes a brief glance to the entrance and starts to pack away his supplies. âYou should ready yourself to leave. The sun is almost down.â
You climb out from your bed roll to find that in the night the blood had seeped through the new makeshift bandage. Yoongi clenches his teeth, and makes another offer. âPlease just let me heal them, you'll only need a drop.â
âThatâs one drop too much.â You move back unsure if you should be more worried about Taehyungâs men tracking you down, or the more current and looming threat of the vampire in front of you. âIs this going to be a problem for you?â âNo,â he confirms, however thereâs a slight hesitation in his answer. âBut you should go wash up before you lose all daylight, thereâs a river just down hill.â He takes a kerchief from his pocket and places it on a rock between you. âYou can have this if youâd like. I donât have any bandages to offer, other than the treatment you find so distasteful.âÂ
You reach out and grab it. âYou wonât be getting this back.â You eye him darkly.Â
âThatâs fine, just go clean them off before others who may be nearby take note of your aroma.â You observe him with caution, hesitating to pass by his threatening mouth to get to that of the caveâs. âUnless you want to stay and watch me eat.â He comments as he pulls out another soft flask which he carries in his jacket. You cringe as he holds in what is likely a stolen meal.
âWhat?â He fires back at your critical glare.Â
âDo you drain all your victims into wine skins, or just those you wish to save for later?â
âThe one who gave me this was not my victim. They were willing to part with it.â
âWilling?â You scoff. âI find that hard to believe. Are you sure you did not slip them some of your own blood first?â
âNo I did not, but if you have a problem with how I conduct my feedings you only have yourself to blame.â
âWhat is that supposed to mean?â
âIt means, you shouldnât be so quick to judge. Now hurry, so we can make use of this night.â
You do just that, darting past him you leave the mine heading down to the river in the fading sunlight.
...
As you return Yoongi is already outside and packing the horse. With his back to you he pulls an apple from the saddle bag, and the horse turns his head towards the treat with itâs mouth open and reaching. He pulls it back and away from the creature, âI know, I know this should have been yours, but youâve had enough grass and she needs food. Do you mind sharing?â You watch as he rubs his steed behind the ear and it gives up on itâs want for the fruit. âThanks, next one is yours, I promise.â
âAm I to thank you or the horse for my meal?â You call out to the vampire.
âYou may thank him if you like.â Yoongi hands off the apple to you as you approach.
You canât help smile as you stand in front of the massive and beautiful stallion letting him smell the back of your hand before you reach you pet the star on his forehead. âWhat is his name?âÂ
âHorse...â Yoongi admits.Â
âHorse? Surely you jest. Why would you not give him a proper name?â
âHe went for so long without one it just stuck.â Yoongi responds as he tightens the girth of the saddle. âWhat would you have named him?âÂ
âIâm not sure, but certainly not horse. You poor beast, first he deprives you of a suitable name, then an apple.â You take a few bites but with your stomach still queasy and unable to take anymore, you give the rest to the poorly named steed. Once the bridle and tackle are secure you mount up despite the instant outcry from your legs. You find Yoongi watching you, taking notice but remaining silent. Youâre grateful for his lack of discourse, not wanting to have to explain the tenderness of your ass and thighs owing to yesterdayâs travel.Â
Regrettably, the aches become worse, and after only a couple hours of riding youâre barely able to stay upright. If Yoongiâs arms werenât circling around you to keep hold of the reins you would have slid to the ground long ago. It seems that heâs no longer able to disregard your comfort though. âAre you well?â
âRelatively speaking, yes.â You whisper holding in a groan.
âRelative to what?â
âRelative to a week ago.â To your time with Taehyung. You grimace further with each mounted stride.
âI think your scale is skewed. Weâll slow for a bit. Though you might think differently, I have no desire to see you in pain.â He slows his steed to a walk and dismounts, letting you lean back as he leads the horse forward.Â
âThis is nothing I promise. We should keep the pace up.â
âYou wish to be rid of me so soon? Even if it causes you agony?â
âYes.â Your short reply is enough to make him pause for a second, his face splitting into an open smirk before he continues again. Â
âThough I appreciate your honesty, the horse could use a break too.â Yoongi chuckles darkly. âYouâll have to learn how to hold that tongue of yours again once you return to court.â
You take in a sharp breath as a chill runs down your spine. Youâve been so focused on what you are running from you havenât given thought as what you are running too. âDo you know much about my family, about my life back home?â
âSome.â
âYou said I was the last remaining heir. There must have been a time when that wasnât the case.â
âYour brother...â Yoongi explains, his gaze fixed on the road. âHe passed away a few weeks ago. He was very ill, had been all his life.â
You take a deep breath as you register the news, but itâs hard to properly grieve when you canât recall what you lost. âI wish I could remember-âÂ
Yoongi must be taking pity on you as he delves further without your prompting. âYou loved him very much, but you werenât as close as you would have liked to have been. His ailment was unknown to many and it prevented him from spending much time with you.â
âHow do you know that?âÂ
âBecause you told me.â He whispers, finally meeting your eyes again. Â
âWh-what else do you know? Will you tell me?â
Yoongi shakes his head, âGive it time and youâll remember on your own. His hold wonât last forever.â
âI still donât understand why you wonât say more.â
âBecause I donât want to give you a false sense of your past, only to find out later that it was different than I thought, than I hoped. Your affection for your brother was obvious, but with other focuses of your adoration I cannot be sure. So please do not ask much of me. Youâve gone through enough, I have no wish to plant false regard for things you did not actually love.â While Yoongi continues to look up to you his expression takes a sudden shift. His nose lifts into the air and takes a deep breath, before his head snaps back at the road ahead. âHumans... four of them.â
Your heart leaps at the prospect, but Yoongi cuts your anticipation short. âDonât get too hopeful. They are currently trying to conceal themselves on the path ahead. I doubt their motives are well intended.â He reaches up to tuck a lock of hair that had fallen out from your cap. âStay on the horse and keep quiet. Iâll deal with them.âÂ
âBut-â
âFor your own safety, please do what I ask.âÂ
The trees growing around the road are thick and dense, your eyes dart between the trunks in hopes to catch movement, but with the forest cloaked in darkness you have little ability to find anything. Minutes pass and just as you are about to question Yoongi, you spot a man with tattered clothes lying in the middle of the dirt road ahead. Thinking he might be a victim of the others mentioned, you make an attempt to dismount. But Yoongi holds your hand firmly on the reins, while he calls out to the casualty. âThe wounded traveller? Do people still fall for that?â
Thereâs a moment of silence before a man emerges from the forest to the left. âYouâd be surprised,â he responds, while two more appear on the right.Â
The destitute wayfarer on the road gets up and dusts himself off. âItâs a shame you didnât fall for our ploy, itâs much easier both for us and those who do, so much less blood. You look to be worth the effort though. Iâm sure we could fetch a pretty penny for a steed like that.â
The four close in ranks and advance. Yoongi stays by your side, eyeing their approach, he gives a warning. âFor your sake, I hope there will be no blood involved.âÂ
âIs that a threat?â One of the highwaymen asks. âI should like to see how you plan on besting us without a blade.Â
The man closest to you, with a dagger drawn, reaches out to grab hold of your leg. âCome down off the horse lad. There's no point in putting off the inevitable, itâs ours now.â In spite of his weapon you ready to kick the man off, but before your foot can lay into him his grip is torn away. In the blink of an eye Yoongi is on the other side of the horse forcing the assailant to his knees with an arm behind his back. Thereâs a loud pop from the thiefâs shoulder, resulting in a cry of pain. One of the other bandits charges to free his ally, his sword ready. Yoongi succeeds in dodging the initial thrust of the steel, and with one hand takes the saber, turning it instead on itâs owner. Your vampire escort issues another caution with the point at manâs throat.Â
âIf you would like your friend to keep use of his arm then I suggest you all back away.â While the disarmed thief retreats backward with his hands in the air, the rest are frozen in place refusing to move. âYou think I jest?â Yoongiâs grip tightens while his captive lets out a shout. The little effort used on the vampires part to make the man submit finally prompts his fellows to take two steps back. âI swore to my companion that no one would touch them on this journey. Youâve made me break that promise, and I am not pleased.â Thereâs a deep growl to his voice that sends chills through even you. âI should take this limb in payment, and maybe one from each in your party too.â
âYoongi....â You whisper in a low tone.
He turns back to you with a slight smirk. âBut you are lucky, my friend prefers mercy. Itâs far more than you deserve.â Yoongi lowers his head muttering into the bandits ear. âIâll tell you what. You may keep your arm, but you and your men will abandon your camp, head south and keep walking. You will tell no one of us, and if I ever come across your path again I will not hesitate to act on my threats.â
Yoongi releases the man allowing him to scramble away as he clutches his shoulder. The other three support their injured cohort as they run off.Â
Yoongi takes hold of the horse from the ground once again, leading you off the road. âTheir camp itâs just this way. They might have had some supplies which will be of use to us.â
You only nod in response unsure of what to say, after what you just witnessed. The first humans you had interacted with in years, and here they intended to rob you.Â
The smoke of their smouldering fire draws you in. Yoongiâs hunch was right, they had a good deal of useful items. Rations for you, along with spare changes of clothes. He fills a bag and ties it on the saddle, leaving their stolen riches along with the blade behind for someone else to find.Â
He mounts up behind you again, carrying on forward for some time before speaking again. âAre you well your highness? Youâve been very quiet.â
You give him another nod, while chewing on your lip. âWhy south?â
âThatâs where my own clanâs territory lies. If they try to pull something like that again theyâll regret it.â He shifts in the saddle behind you, âBack there, I-I didn't scare you did I?â
You fall silent again, unable to confess he somewhat had, but also that the terror of your fellow mankind outweighed his by far. You fear the idea of having crossed them alone. They would have taken advantage of your mercy, who knows where you would be now if it werenât for the self-proclaimed guard at your side.Â
Yoongi seems to take your lack of answer as confirmation of his worry. âI needed them to see me as a vicious monster, had they not backed off I would have had to become one. Iâm sorry you had to witness the threat but it was necessary. I needed to terrify them for their sake and yours. I promise didnât intend to frighten you, only to keep you safe. âÂ
...
Coming close to the break of day you find rest this time in a small abandoned house. The windows shuttered completely to prevent even the smallest stream of light from entering. Unlike the night before Yoongi doesnât light the lantern. Itâs so dark inside that he has to lead you to an empty space of floor for you to rest on. He takes a couple steps away, giving you some space before settling down himself once again between you and the door.
âIâm not going to run, youâve made your point, or I should say the thieves did.â
âI donât rest between you and the exit to keep you here, but to stop others from entering,â Yoongi explains. âThese spots Iâve scoped out, I am not alone in using them. They are how my kind travels, some might have found different places to rest away from the sun, but I can tell that others have used this location. Donât go examining your surroundings too closely, you might not like what you find.â
Now thankful for the darkness, you take your bed roll from Yoongi. âRest easy,â he mutters as you climb in between in the blankets.
âNot likely,â you whisper back. âBut thank you.â
Unfortunately you are correct, your sleep is once again disturbed by Taehyung. You catch a glimpse of his face before you're surrounded by him. The darkness holds you in a suffocating grip, your mouth slowly filling with blood. You struggle trying to breath reaching out to take a hold of anything that would pull you out.Â
A hand grabs on to the side of your face, another on to your arm. Finding the shine of Yoongiâs eyes once you're able to open your own, you gasp out to him begging for some sort of relief. âCanât see... canât breath...â
He picks you up only to set you back down on the floor a second later. There's a click and the front door opens to reveal a narrow shaft of sunlight. A single beam a couple inches wide, but itâs enough to dispel the darkness inside. Your eyes start to water, blinded by the light, but itâs far too warm and comforting to deny yourself the sight.   Â
To your disgust thereâs a lingering taste of blood in your mouth. Reminding you of the shackles that still bind you to Taehyung as it continues to overwhelm your senses. Yoongiâs voice flows from the darkness just to the side of the door, his eyes glowing like that of a predatorâs. âI think you might have bitten your tongue in your sleep, your highness.âÂ
Heâs right, you find a sore spot as you press it to the roof of your mouth. You make an attempt to focus back on the sun. You sit there in silence letting your breath and heart return to a normal rate. All while Yoongiâs eyes continue to watch you, burning in the darkness. He apologizes for his gaze, but does not withdraw his attention, âSorry but itâs been so long since Iâve seen someone bask in the sun. Iâve forgotten what it feels like myself...â
âHow long?â
âI lost count around the century mark, but itâs likely been double that.â
âDo you miss it?â
âYes, but I understand. Immortality is a large price to pay, and every monster must have an equal weakness.â
âBut I suppose, not everything it repels is a monster.â
Yoongiâs eyes narrow as if heâs hiding a small smile in the darkness. âDare I say, that sounds almost like a compliment?â
âMerely an observation,â you whisper, but your words trigger something inside you, a pain and longing which you canât explain. âYoongi, what were we to one another before...â Before Taehyung interrupted your life. âPlease I know you donât wish to speak for me, but I need to know your view of what we were.â
âWe were friends, just friends.â He responds but you're not convinced, just friends do not wait outside the home of their enemy for five years. Just friends donât put their entire life on hold for another. Just friends arenât overwhelmed with the desires that seem to be returning to you now.
Youâve seen this expression on him before, you know you have. On the edge of your memories lies a dark cavernous stone built hall, one in which only you and him resided. You find him crumbling under the weight of what he is and what heâs lost because of that. Fragments of your words and his surface in your mind.
âYou are not a monster Yoongi, I do not need saving from you!â
âIf not from me, then at least from my kind. I cannot give you the life nor the safety which lies here... You would be better off if you forgot me entirely.â
You remember your wish to comfort him, to embrace him and prove that he has not lost everything because of what he is. With the recollection fading, falling from your grasp, you panic out of fear of losing the brief moment of memory. Closing the door you move towards Yoongi, the only focus you have of your previous life, hoping the scene in your mind might continue.
âI donât need saving from you,â you mutter, blinded by the rapid loss of light, reaching out in an attempt to find him again.Â
He takes your hand and holds it, his cool fingers trailing soothing lines over the mark on your palm. âIf not from me, then at least from my kind,â he responds, following the path of your dialogue from long before. âYou remember our last meeting?âÂ
âOnly a fraction of it. I remember wanting to...â To confess to him, to kiss him, that was your past self was leaning towards. You thought well enough of him to desire an intimacy with one who feeds on others... that canât be right. But even now you can start to see the appeal your younger self cared for. His soft touch on your hand, his calming presence, and protection, those are not qualities of a monster. And in the memory you were worried that he would reject your affection, that he would be the one to pull away, not you. âDid you ever desire to be more than friends?â
His eyes grow wide at your question, but his stance remains the same. âYou know I will not answer that.âÂ
âBut this is regarding your feelings, not my own!â
âI will say no more of us. Iâve told you far too much already.â He leaves the topic at that, directing you to your present state instead. âThereâs a few more hours before sunset... do you think youâll be able to sleep?â
You shake your head and move to sit with your back against the boards of the wall. Your reply is slow to come, and muddled with the first gasp of tears. âI canât...â The prospect of closing your eyes again is too terrifying.
Yoongi comes to sit beside you, as he continues to hold your hand, his other arm wraps your shoulders as you let out the pain. A couple of hours ago you would have pushed him away out of fear, but with the spark of your past self craving his presence, who are you to deny the support it needs. âIâm sorry,â he whispers. âIâm sorry I have to keep my view from you. I donât want to add to the damage that has been done.â
âThere is not more damage that could be done. All I have to remember is a few months spent in agony and terror. How can I find comfort or rest when that is all I have? I have no knowledge of who or what made me happy, or of what dreams chased away the nightmares.â
âAn adventure,â Yoongi mutters, his head bowed to the floor as he concedes with another part of your past. âYou always dreamed of having an adventure.âÂ
You let out a broken and weeping scoff, crestfallen that your ambitions to learn more only exposed a further divide. âI find that hard to believe.âÂ
âYour parents were overprotective, because of your brother's condition. You were forced to keep to the castle, you just longed for something different.â His thumb rubs along the back of your hand as he holds it.Â
âBut I donât feel like one to see the risk of adventures as desirable.â
âYouâve been through much since then, fear has a way of changing what we want. I will admit I wished for you to be more careful back then, but never at a cost like this.âÂ
âI donât know if I will ever be that person again...â You draw your knees to your chest letting your head lull to the side and onto him.Â
âThatâs okay,â His arm grips you tighter, as his face lowers to the top of your head. His lips briefly brush against your hair, before his cheek comes down to rest, taking their place. âThatâs why Iâm taking you home.âÂ

TWD - Negan Imagine ~ âDivergedâ
Imagine for the 21st episode of Season 10
Summary: Follow Negan and the Reader through the days after Maggieâs arrival in Alexandria, through struggles and tension, domestic bliss, and a special little celebration.
Warning: Smut
Day 1 after Maggieâs arrival Warm morning sun was streaming through the windows of the living room and the kitchen, filling it up with a warmth that you very much needed after the nerve-wracking last night. You hadnât slept badly, but your body was still letting you know that it didnât like the ordeal of fear and tears youâd put it through last night. You tried to stay positive, new day, new game, but the thought that you could run into Maggie any moment youâd step foot out of your house gave you a feeling of the ugly kind. âFuck, really needed that coffeeâ, Negan groaned as you watched him take a big gulp from his cup, his figure still a little slumped over the table and his face was still painted in the remaining exhaustion that was stuck in him as well. âMhm me tooâ, you sighed, reaching for your cup, taking another sip while you could feel Neganâs hand reaching for yours, taking it into his grasp as he cleared his throat slightly. âSo weâre just gonna-â Cut off by two quick knocks on the door your glimpse shot up from your cup, darting right at the door, revealing Gabrielâs black clothed figure right behind its windows. Your stomach started to sink from one moment to another, unsure what to think, unsure what he would do and say now that Maggie was back, unsure if he was here to try and snap Neganâs freedom back again, or if it was just something trivial that had brought him here. âFuckâ, it fell from Neganâs lips the same moment a tense sound fell from yours and you stood up from your spot, letting go of Neganâs hand to move towards the door while your heart started to drum against your chest, pounding harshly as you finally pushed down the handle. âMorning, can I come in?â, the priest asked, the look on his face not readable enough for you to know whether he had good or bad news. âSureâ, you only nodded, gulping thickly as he walked past you towards the table, watching him closely as you followed him. âMorninâ Gabey boyâ, Negan chuckled, overplaying any of the stress and fear he clearly felt too. The bright grin was plastered onto his face, but just one look into his eyes gave away what he was truly feeling right now. âMorning to you too, Negan. I just got some updates for the both of youâ, he said, looking in between the both of you and finally, he seemed to pick up on the thick tension that was laying in the air.
âItâs nothing negative, no need to worryâ, he quickly added and while a burden already seemed to fall from your shoulders and your heart started to slow down its relentless pounding, a part of you was still on edge. âAaron and I will leave for an extensive run in a few hours. Maggie provided us with a map with possible scavenging locations further out. I just thought it would be good to let you know, also concerning the councilâ, he said as he looked to you while you were still nearly hanging onto his lips, waiting for him to finish so you could be sure that no bad surprise was waiting for you,âWith both of us gone, most of the remaining council is gone as well, thereâs only you, Nora and Kyle left...which means it is inactive for the time being, as soon as weâre back, we will look for new members and make any decisions together.â âAnd what does that mean for us?â, Negan finally asked, the grin gone as the tension broke through his facade as he glanced up to the priest, âCâmon Gabe, You just said it, Maggie is back. So as long as you and spikey boy are out there weâll just continue as before? Do our work and live here?â âThatâs the planâ, he nodded,âIâve told you before, every helping hand is needed and living in this home has worked during the last days as well. A well rested worker is a good worker. So yes, you will continue as before.â âAnd others know that as well? As long as youâre gone we can count on this?â, you asked, still too tense to trust it all completely yet no matter how much you wanted to believe it,âI just...I just want to be sure that Maggieâs presence wonât spontaneously change things while youâre gone. We wonât start anything of course, weâll keep our distance, I just want to be sure that we can count on this now.â âYou canâ, he nodded once more, sighing as he still saw the suspicion on both of your faces. You wished it was different, you wished you could act and be a little more lighthearted and less tense but youâd been disappointed too many times before and you werenât gonna let that happen again, not if you had any chance to avoid it. âIâve told Kyle and Nora...and yes, Iâve let Daryl know as well just as Maggie does. Iâm not saying she likes it but this decision is set in stone for as long as weâre goneâ, he said, looking in between the both of you, âAnd as I told you last time, I generally see no problem in keeping the situation permanently as it is.â âOkay, thank you, Gabeâ, you finally got out, allowing yourself to let his words finally calm you while Negan joined in, sighing softly as he got the priestâs attention. âI know Iâve been screwing with you here and there but I appreciate this, Gabey, Reallyâ, he said, looking straight but entirely genuine at the other man, who started to clear his throat slightly. âGood...I am not entirely sure how long this run will take, but it will be something around two weeks. Iâll see you when Iâm backâ, he started, looking once more in between the both of you before he started to head towards the door again. âTake careâ, you said as you moved in behind him, reaching for his arm to stop him for a moment as he was about to step outside, âI mean it, thank you. This means a lot.â He only gave you another look, a slightly warmer one youâd rarely seen in him during the last while before he nodded slightly and slipped outside, leaving you at the doorstep for a moment as the fresh morning breeze brushed over your face and allowed you to relax slightly and process the news that were much better than youâd actually anticipated. For now, things were good, and youâd just appreciate that to the fullest.Â
2 days after Maggieâs arrival Business as usual. Just like Gabriel had proposed. You hadnât seen Maggie on the streets of Alexandria at all yesterday, only one or two of her people and you were quite grateful that it had stayed that limited after the tumultuous night youâve had before, though you knew that it certainly wouldnât stay that way. They were probably getting that house ready that Maggie had simply picked for them, and while that fact irked you a little, you were partly grateful that it bought you some more time to adjust. Still half lost in your thoughts you moved through the quiet infirmary, only hearing Steve move something around on the first floor, collecting some new bed sheets for the only stationary patient you had at the moment. âI got you, only this one more stepâ, an unfamiliar male voice rumbled from the porch dully into the room, just loud enough for your attention to spike up and turn you into the direction of the voice. Tilting your head you glimpsed through the windows, trying to sort the voice to a face and from one moment to another, it was crystal clear to you why you didnât recognize it. The voice didnât belong to an Alexandrian, Hilltoper or even former Kingdom resident, those were two of Maggieâs people. A shudder ran down your back as you watched the man whose voice youâd just heard help the blonde woman he propped with his arms towards the door, slow but still not slow enough for you to prepare yourself for the situation. Did they know who you were? Did Maggie or maybe any other person in here already point it out to them? For a moment, you wanted to call Steve downstairs, to take no chances and avoid unnecessary confrontations but you didnât have enough time for that left and a small part of you hoped that doing a good job now might benefit you and Negan at some other point. Still, it didnât leave you any less tense as the man pushed the door open, his eyes on the floor until the both of them moved a little more into the room and he finally looked up. âMorning, weâre here to get a new bandage for her footâ, he rumbled, tucking a loose strand of his dark hair back into his low bun as you moved towards the both of them, trying to find some kind of recognition in his eyes but at least for now, it didnât seem like he knew who you were, and if that was the case, it might be best to keep it this way. You werenât in the mood for confrontations. Not here. Not now. âSure, just help me get her on the cotâ, you said, smiling softly as you moved in next to the woman, propping her just enough to get her comfortably onto the nearest cot and a sigh of relief left her lips as soon as she could adjust herself and relieve her foot from any weight that had still lasted onto it. âIâll quickly get some stuff to wrap this up againâ, you said as you moved towards the counters, a certain tension still lasting onto you as you reached for the small notebook with notes you kept about the patients, searching for the latest fitting entry of the day before yesterday that fit to her injury. âYour nameâs Linda, right?â, you asked as you glimpsed up from the book, watching as the younger woman looked up and nodded softly. âYouâre keeping track of the patients?â, the man asked, curious as he tilted his head a little to glimpse at the book. âYeah, makes it easier to know for any follow up appointments what drugs, salves or else were usedâ, you said, still with a friendly look on your face as you nodded back to the book, âAlso easier to keep track on how much of meds we still got left, just makes things a lot faster and simple.â âYeah Iâm just asking âcause our doc back at our old village did the same thing, had a book that looked exactly like that one, just had me curiousâ, he said, a bittersweetness in his voice before he let out a thick sigh,âNot sure if you heard but the reason we left is the same reason she got injured...hurt herself when the rest of our group fled from that bastard in the woods.â´à âYeah I didâ, you nodded, moving in to grab what you needed, glimpsing in between the book and Linda and Cole as you threw the supplies into a small basket, ready to use them as you made your way back and gave her a small smile,âGonna make sure youâre fully back on your feet quickly.â âIâm Cole by the wayâ, he said the moment you reached them, extracting his hand out to you and with that, sending just another shiver of tension through you as you realized that there was no way past introducing yourself anymore. âWell then nice to meet you, Coleâ, you said, giving him another smile, trying to give him one last kind impression of yourself before you gulped thickly as you accepted his hand, only hoping that this would be the first time heâd hear your name. âIâm (Y/N).â It wasnât the first time. it most definitely wasnât. From one moment to another, it seemed to click in him. His kind looking dark eyes widened slightly before they narrowed as his face fell flat, saying with that expression more than 1000 words ever could while his grip on your hand loosened. âWell, then letâs get this done, huh?â, you could hear yourself awkwardly mumble as you let go of his hand, trying to act as if this hadnât just happened while you only hoped that he would just give you the silent treatment instead of spewing a remark. Tensely you started to get to work, trying to ignore what had just happened though you could very much tell that they were eyeing you. Linda more than Cole, but the looks you could see him giving you from the corner of your eyes were still obvious enough to notice. Thorough but as fast as you could you finished the job, making sure to not look as tensed as you felt before you finally tossed the last bit of scraps back into the basket and looked back up again. âAlright, itâs done. You can come back anytime you feel like you need a bandage change, if nothing happens and it mostly stays in place, you could come by tomorrow evening or the day afterâ, you said, just trying to act as if this situation wasnât as awkward and tense as it truly was. With that, you only got a short âThanksâ and âByeâ of them and right after those words had been spoken, they got themselves out of the infirmary without saying just another word. And while this was by far not the worst case scenario, you knew that your time of adjusting was over with these few minutes that were surely just the beginning of a ton of tense encounters. âDelivery for the doc?â, a warm, familiar voice filled up the room, its suddeness that cut through the silence from one moment to another letting you flinch as you turned around and saw Negan standing by the side entrance door with a large wooden box in his hands that he quickly let down by the door as he moved inside towards you. âFuck, you look like ya saw a damn ghost. Did I scare you that much?â, he chuckled as he reached you, moving in to grasp your jaw and press a kiss over your lips. Humming you leaned into him, kissing him back until he slowly let go of you and looked over your face, almost as if he was trying to read off of your expression what exactly was wrong. âTwo of Maggieâs people were here just nowâ, you eventually mumbled, watching his face tense up quickly before you shook your head softly. âThey didnât do anything but their attitude changed up real quick once they heard my nameâ, you mumbled, sighing softly as you shrugged your shoulders,âAt least didnât throw any remarks around but the silence was awkward as hell.â Negan only nodded, his face a little less tense than before but still far from relaxed as you leaned up to press another small kiss over his lips. âNow whatâs the delivery? Iâm curiousâ, you asked, trying to switch up the topic as you nodded towards the box that still stood by the door and Neganâs face began to light back up. âWent out with your colleagueâs husband today and got some cuts for those herbs you neededâ, he said as he let go of you and strolled over to the door to heave the box with a small grunt up and carry it over to the counter by your side ,âDaniel and I wanna go out an dig âem up some other day. Steve told him getting some tinctures and salves done is kinda urgent so we thought weâd get some cuts for yâall first.â âOh thatâs awesomeâ, you said, glimpsing into the box that was filled with neatly tied bundles of herbs, though your excitement wasnât only directed at the new supplies but also at the fact that Negan seemed to have had a rather positive experience with another Alexandrian, and he could use that at the moment. âWe got a bunch of chamomile, some burning nettles, comfrey, burdock, dandelions and some lavenderâ, Negan mumbled as he gestured into the box as you peeked inside,âReading those damn plant books down in that fucking cell finally pays off. First that Hogweed shit with Aaron and now this.â A chuckle fell from your lips as you reached inside the box and grasped the small bundle of lavender and held it up to your nose to smell its calming scent. âOh this smells so goodâ, you mumbled, backing a little off to glimpse at the small and pretty lilac blossoms ,âCrazy how fast everythingâs blooming now. Feels like those pretty wildflowers by the woodhouses also just popped up from one day to another.â Laying the lavender back into the box you moved closer to Negan to wrap your arms around his neck and lean into kiss him softly, smiling as you leaned back to glimpse at him. âThank youâ,you mumbled, reaching your hand up to run it trough his dark hair and elicited a small, content groan to fall from Neganâs lips ,âHow were things with Daniel outside?â âActually pretty damn goodâ, Negan said, the grin on his face growing a little wider and some more relief spread through you,âNice guy, really...felt good just being looked at like a normal damn person.â âSeeâ, you mumbled, giving him another smile,âTold you thereâs also people whoâve grown to accept you. Not everythingâs bad.â Slowly, Negan nodded, the smile still resting on his lips. Things wouldnât become easier, if anything had shown you that it was the encounter with Cole and Linda just now, but these little positive news were enough to let you realize once more that there were still people in this town that were starting to accept Negan. You just couldnât let the opinions of those that still despised him overshadow those who were willing to give him an honest chance to start anew.
4 days after Maggieâs arrival A deep sigh fell from your lips as you fumbled the DVD of the likely most horrible horror movie youâd watched to this day out of the console, popping it quickly back into its packaging to push it, hopefully, to never be seen again into the TV shelf. Glimpsing over your shoulder you watched as Negan poured the both of you new drinks in the kitchen, waiting for you to choose the next thing to watch for your daily little movie night that would hopefully distract you from the clichĂŠ filled atrocity youâd just watched. Shifting on the fluffly carpet you moved along the backs of the DVD packages until you found the one you wanted and pulled it out just as you saw the lights in the kitchen turn off again and heard Neganâs footsteps coming closer. âWatcha poppinâ in there?â, he asked, curiously rising his eyebrows as he tried to peek at the package in your hands and took a small sip of his whiskey. ââCan you resist?â I need something trashy and fun after that bummerâ, you said with a small chuckle and held the tacky, and bright colored packaging up, just enough for Negan to see it as he sat down on the edge of the couch and brightly grinned at you. âNeed something to calm ya down?â, he asked, tease swinging heavily through his voice ,âWas that thing too scary for you?â âNoâ, you quickly retorted before you popped the package open,âI just need to erase that crap from my mind.â âSure thing.â âAssholeâ, you chuckled in response to his comment that just oozed sarcasm, leaning in over to him to give his leg a small, playful slap while a thick laugh rumbled up his throat. Glimpsing back down you moved the DVD into the console, a little more eager to finally get it running. The first four episodes that youâd watched during the last nights had already been nothing but a fun guilty pleasure, that got so much better with Neganâs remarks about the candidates and whatever actions they were pulling at the moment. If you were honest, those remarks were likely what you enjoyed most about watching the show. âI swear if Sarah and Chad are the first fuckinâ faces we see, Iâm gonna lose my shitâ, Negan groaned as he stood up from the couchâs edge and moved back to his usual spot, plopping down onto it, careful to not spill any of your drinks as he threw his legs onto the cushions. âIâve never seen two people on TV whoâve got on my nuts that muchâ, he scoffed, sipping once more on his glass as you grabbed the remote and moved back over to him,âI get it, not fuckinâ is hard but not so fuckinâ hard to resist if 100 thousand dollar are on the damn line. Just resist for a while and then have a big-ass fuckfest after you collect the damn coin.â âAt least the dramaâs goodâ, you chuckled back, reaching for your glass as you moved in next to him and started the show, almost eager to forget about that dumb movie and hear what kind of remarks Negan had to offer up for this episode. âThatâs trueâ, he mumbled as you set your glass back on the coffee table and cuddled up to his side, watching the screen load before another contestantâs face showed up on the screen and a relieved groan fell from Neganâs lips,âOh thank god...Yâknow who that guy reminds me of?â Glancing up you looked in between Negan and the young man that was shown on TV, trying to figure out for a moment who he could refer to before you shook your head and watched Neganâs grin flare up once more. âGabey.â âWhat?â, it fell from your lips with a laugh, as you glimpsed confused back to Negan. âYâknow heâs acting all coy and shit but I bet he might be kinkier than we thinkâ, he said, grinning widely as he bit his lip before he gestured to the TV ,âIâm sure heâs gonna get laid by that Valerie girl.â âYou sure he wonât be able to resist?â, you mumbled, tilting your head a little as said Valerie showed up on screen and started to move towards Gabey 2.0 ,âHeâs been responsible till now.â âTill nowâ, Negan grinned, holding his pointing finger up before he snickered and grinned just a little wider,âHeâs gonna break at some point...especially if she keeps on inviting him on those dates...and I canât wait for the shit storm that will break loose once that happens.â
7 days after Maggieâs arrival The sun was already nearing the skyline of the trees and filled the air with its warm light as you reached your home after a long day of work. Youâd stayed a little longer at the infirmary today, fixing up some new tinctures with the herbs that Negan and Daniel had brought in and by now, you were just glad to finally come home and fill your stomach up with whatever delicious meal Negan had prepared by now. Once you reached your home you quickly moved up the porch, taking two steps at the time only to hear the door opening as soon as you reached the top. âHey Sweetheartâ, Negan said, a wide grin on his face as he leaned against the doorframe while your eyes ran over him. Usually, he was already in his comfortable clothes around this time, ready to just relax for the rest of the day but now, he looked like heâd freshly slicked back his hair and threw some fresh dark gray pants on and a white shirt on. You most definitely werenât complaining, but you were still surprised. âHeyâ, you said back, grinning back at him as you moved in to greet him with a kiss, peeking curiously past him as you caught a high vase on the dinner table that was filled with the pretty wildflowers youâd seen blooming by the woodhouses and that only sparked your curiosity further. âWhatâs going on here?â, you asked as you leaned a bit back and tilted your head slightly, watching as something that looked a little but like nervousness spread over his face as he took your hand and lead you inside, where you could already smell the delicious scent of Neganâs spaghetti sauce filling the air. âYâknow...around this time last year I put that ring on your fingerâ, he said as he closed the door behind you and looked down to your hand before glimpsing right back up at you with a warm but still slightly nervous look in his eyes,âI canât be sure about the exact date but I...I thought it would be nice to celebrate our anniversary in some way...I just wanted to do something special for you.â From one moment to another the smile on your lips got wider, bringing warmth all over you as you looked from the flowers in the vase, to the few burning thick candles, to the nicely set table and the fresh basket of self made biscuits that was laying beside the cutlery. âWow, I-â âYou said you liked âem so I thought theyâd make a nice bouquet, uhm-â, Negan said as he nodded towards the flowers. The slight nervousness that filled the usually so confident and self-assure man was honestly adorable and you found yourself charmed as he moved from your side over to his chair and picked up something that heâd been hiding there till now ,âI got something else for you too.â With that he lifted up a pretty, dark brown leather bound notebook from its spot, a loving look filling his eyes as he moved back over to you. âYou always said you wanted to create some kinda handbook for those healing herbs and stuff but you never actually got to do it before...so when I was out there getting those herb cuts, I got the idea and thought Iâd start it for you.â âHoly shitâ, it left your lips as you reached in to accept his gift, already smiling widely as you glimpsed at the notebook,âThank you.â Your mouth fell softly open as you glanced down, running your thumb over the soft leather as more warmth filled you. Spending your time either working at the infirmary or being down by Negan in his cell for the last years had never given you the time to start a book like this, and it got you even happier now that it was him who gave it to you. It was personal and it was perfect and as you finally opened it the smile on your face grew only wider.
To the best wife (and doc) ever! Happy anniversary, Sweetheart I love youÂ
Neganâs handwriting filled the whole top of the first page, neat and not as messy as you were used to it and you could tell that it had cost him some effort to get it this way. And just as your eyes swayed over the last three words they got captured by the smaller written line at the bottom of the page. P.S. You have, and always will, give my dick and my heart the biggest boner!
With that, a laugh fell from your lips as your eyes ran over the sentence, while the smile on your lips surely turned into an everlasting one. You loved the sweet message on the top of the page, but this down there was Negan through and through and that made it even more special to you. âFirst thought Iâd hold myself a bit back in case youâd want others to look into it tooâ, Negan chuckled as you finally glimpsed up to him from the book and he winked at you,âCouldnât go through with it all the way tho.â âIâm glad you didnâtâ, you chuckled, your curiosity taking over again as you started to turn the pages and found yourself loving the book more and more with every second. Negan had taken a leaf or blossom of each of the herbs that heâd found outside, dried them and carefully glued them into the book, dedicating a page for each of the dried samples with their names written neatly on top of them and with enough pages left between each of them for you to fill with whatever notes and knowledge you had about them. âOh myâ, it fell from your lips as you browsed through the book that must have been a whole lot of work, especially considering that he always only had time to work on it whenever he got earlier back from his shifts than you. âWish I could give you more, I know itâs not much-â, you suddenly heard him start, cut off by your sudden movement as you looked up at him and glanced wide eyes at him. âAre you kidding me?â,you asked, a soft chuckle falling from your lips as you widely smiled at him ,âThis is so awesome. I love it!â Neganâs face began to light up as his eyes roamed over your happy face, his glance softening as you sat the book carefully down onto the table and moved in to hug him tightly. âThank you so so muchâ, you mumbled, nuzzling your nose into his warm neck while his arms wrapped around you and pulled you closer into his embrace,âThis is so sweet.â Youâd never had such a thing as an anniversary before, there had never been this moment where the both of you had decided that you were a couple, it had just happened, little by little until you found yourself in love with one another and youâd always liked it this way. But this, this was special. It was something youâd never been able to do during all these years down in that cell and celebrating just anything with him now got you happy, just as the realization that youâd been calling him your husband for a year now. Leaning back you tipped up to meet his lips in a kiss, humming into him before you could feel a tiny bit of guilt starting to prick you as you realized that you were pretty much empty handed. âNow I donât even have anything for youâ, you mumbled as you let got of his lips, watching as Negan quickly shook his head. âAnd you donât need toâ, he mumbled, moving in to cup your face with his hands as he leaned down to press another kiss over your lips,âWhat you did during the last years is more than I could ever give back to you.â A small sigh left his lips as he glimpsed at you, licking his lips as his eyes stayed fixed on you. âShit, everything you dragged down that cell to make it look more comfy was basically a damn giftâ, he mumbled, a small snort falling from his lips before he shrugged his shoulders softly,âI could never give you one.â âYou gave me thisâ, you said, holding up your left hand and the slim diamond wedding ring Negan had fixed up for you,âThatâs a pretty big one.â A hum fell from Neganâs lips as his eyes swayed from the ring back to you as you let your arm lower and wrap back around his torso again. âIâm serious thoâ, you mumbled, sure to keep his eyes locked on yours ,âI know you wonât believe that but youâve given me just as much as I have given you, in one way or another. Weâre even, Negan.â He softly nodded, and even though he did, you knew heâd never truly think this way. âThank you so much for thisâ, you mumbled, looking over from the flowers and the notebook back at your husband ,âItâs perfect...I donât even really know what to say I just-....I love you so much.â âI love you tooâ, Negan mumbled back, moving back in to kiss you, this time longer and with more passion, until your knees started to feel gooey and you found yourself melted against him. Slowly and reluctantly, Negan let go of your lips and leaned his forehead against yours, smiling widely as you heard the blubbering of the still simmering tomato sauce on the stove and let a small chuckle fall from your lips. âI want some of those spaghetti now tho...Iâm starving.â
The spaghetti were as great as always and you quickly filled your stomach up with the delicious meal, loving every little moment of your anniversary dinner with Negan until you decided to quickly hop under the shower so you could enjoy the rest of the night with him down in the living room. With a towel wrapped around your body and busy with drying off your hair with another, smaller one you moved from the bathroom back into the bedroom, lost in your thoughts for a moment as your eyes swayed over the trees outside that were only enlighted by now by the faint moonlight until your eyes dropped from the windows and landed on Neganâs leatherjacket that laid over the back of the desk-chair. Smiling softly you moved towards it, running your fingers over the smooth leather until it clicked within you from one moment to another and an idea quickly rose up into your head that would allow you to still give Negan a little gift for the anniversary as well. Dropping the towel from your body you tossed it along with the smaller one to the bed and grabbed the jacket to slip it over your bare body, chuckling to yourself as you already imagined his reaction to it and could feel an anticipating tingling growing quickly within you. A small grin already laid on your face as you adjusted the oversized jacket on your body and started to move downstairs as quietly as you could, aiming to not let Negan see you until you wanted him too. Peeking inside the living room you saw him sitting relaxed on the couch, leaned back into the cushions and with his back darted towards you as he looked through some DVDs. Gulping softly you moved forwards, extra careful to not step onto the floorboards that were usually squeaking a little underneath your feet until you stood right behind Negan. Slowly, you lowered yourself a little until you could wrap your leather clad arms around him from behind and leaned in, just enough to align your lips with his ear. âI have a little surprise for you after allâ, you whispered, immediately hearing a sharp breath falling from Neganâs lips as he turned around and stared with wide eyes at you that started to narrow as soon as his glance wandered over you. âHoly fuckâ, he growled, licking his lips as he rushed up from the couch and rounded it within seconds, hurrying over to you while his eyes already filled with the lust you knew all too well. âThought we could check off another goal from that bucket list of yoursâ, you said with a grin as soon as he reached you, his eyes still roaming over you like a hungry predator that was looking at its prey. âOh for fuckinâ sureâ, you could hear him murmur as he leaned down to met you in a rough kiss, his hands already starting to move underneath the leather and wander over your bare skin. Running your hands through his hair you winced softly against his lips as he lead you towards the dinner table, groaning into you as your body met the wood. âThis gotta be a fuckinâ dreamâ, he grumbled, only letting go of you to look down at you,âDonât know how often Iâve imagined you wearing only that jacket, fuck.â You quickly found yourself in another rough kiss, only breaking it to get the rest of the stuff off the table along with the vase of flowers and the notebook before you felt Negan pushing you against it, more than ready to take this further. âFuckinâ hellâ, you heard him groan against your lips as his hands moved below the jacket and cupped your breasts, fondling them and brushing his rough thumbs over your sensitive nipples while you leaned into his touch, eager to get more of it. Humming his lips trailed down from your mouth to your neck, kissing and nipping at it as your hand dove into his thick hair and grasped it tightly as you felt him biting the skin gently but firm enough to let a small sting shoot through your body. âOh fuckâ, it fell softly from your lips, your eyes closing for a moment before you felt one of his hands traveling up to cup your throat, squeezing it lightly as he leaned back and grinned down at you. âSit and lean back, Babyâ, he said lowly, not needing to do much more for you to do as he said as you could already feel your body tingling in anticipation of what was to come while his hand was still wrapped around your throat. Breathing sharply in you leaned back until your leather covered back meet the wood, your fingers running over its roughness while your eyes found Neganâs that were staring narrowed down on you. âThis, shit, this is a sight for the godsâ, he murmured, licking his lips as the wolfish grin on his lips widened, enjoying the view for a moment longer until his hand ran from your neck down your breasts and your stomach until he started to lower himself to his knees. A shiver ran down your spine as you could feel him grabbing your legs to push them over his shoulders and move his head so close to your middle that you could feel his hot breath ghosting over your flesh. Slowly but surely you could feel Neganâs lips trailing along your inner thighs, his rough beard brushing against them until you could finally feel the warmth of his mouth meeting your middle and a low groan vibrated against your sensitive flesh. A small gasp left your mouth as you felt him dragging his tongue along your core, humming deeply as he tasted you and you could feel the heat within you growing hotter as it pooled in your bodyâs depth. The sensation of his rough beard and his soft lips and tongue made you wince in pleasure as he worked on you, moving one of his hands towards your hot flesh to send more waves of heat through you. Tipping your head back, you felt his long fingers teasing over your clit, before his thumb moved in firm, circling movements over the sensitive numb, enough to make your body tingle even more. Negan knew what you liked. Hell, Negan knew every little inch of your body and he surely knew how to use that for his advantage. In no time he turned you into a writhing mess as his fingers and tongue worked on you and you found yourself grabbing his hair as your body started to tremble, filled up with heat and pleasure. Softly moaning you met your hips gently in rhythm with his movements until could feel an uneasy sound fall from his lips as his deep voice vibrated against your flesh ,âFuck, I canât wait anymore...shit, Iâm rock hard.â âThen take meâ, it slipped from your lips, your body eager to feel just any touch from him, feel his tongue or his lips, or feel him thrust deeply into you. Negan was quick back on his feet, a wicked look on his face as you whined in response to the loss of his touch, though you got quickly rewarded as you rose your head just enough to see him pulling his clothes from his body. Step by step you could see more of him, his toned body, the dark hair that peppered his chest and the trail that down his pants that got you excited regardless how many times youâd already seen him undress. You could already see the large tent underneath his boxers as he pulled his pants from his body and tossed them to the side, grinning wolfishly before he brushed the very last piece from his body and revealed his throbbing erection. He was as rock hard as heâd said, precum already leaking from the tip as he stroked himself, enough to let the anticipation skyrocket within you. His eyes kept on roaming over your naked figure underneath his leather jacket as he moved in to grab your legs, pushing them up and leaning them against his shoulders as he moved between them, the wicked grin always on his face while your body started to tremble harder. His fingers were digging into your skin as one of his hands ran down to get a grasp of himself and lead himself closer, eliciting a sharp breath to fall from your lips as soon as you felt his tip pushing against your core. âEyes on meâ, you could hear him order lowly, enough to make your glance shoot towards him and just in the very moment your eyes met his, you felt him thrusting himself into you, hard and deep while your face twisted in pleasure. A loud moan fell from your lips as your eyes stayed fixed on Negan, his lips hanging open as he groaned deeply as he grasped both of your legs tightly. âThat pussy was made for me, fuckâ, he groaned, licking his lips as he started to rock himself into you and his thick brows tensed as his darkened eyes stared down on you as you twitched and writhed on his cock. His fingers were digging deeply into the flesh of your legs, so much that you were sure that he was leaving marks but you couldnât care less, you just wanted to feel him. Whining in pleasure you could feel Negan pulling himself a little out of your heat only to plow himself right back into you, groaning loudly as his skin smacked against yours and his thick cock filled you up in the very best way possible âFuckâ, it fell from your lips as Negan rocked himself into you, allowing you to meet his harsh but rhythmic movements as your hands were moving to grasp the edges of the table, desperate to hold onto anything as his fast and hard thrusts made the wood shake underneath you. âFuck, Negan...fuck this feels so goodâ, you called out, writhing and humming as his heavy thrusts made you shake a little more one after one, only to see how another grin spread over his strained face. âOh I think I got a little treat for yaâ, he growled and pushed himself harder into you, before one of his hands reached down to circle his thumb over the sensitive bundle of nerves, enough to make you throw your head back in pleasure. âOh myâ, it fell in a gasp from your lips as you felt Neganâs thrusts and the movements of his fingers combining perfectly, bringing the mix of lust and pleasure within you to boil up even more than it already had. âGood girlâ, he growled, as you rocked your hips against his and played into his movements all while you gripped the tableâs edges harder, feeling your body heating up even more as Neganâs thrusts got harder and he put more pressure onto your clit, just enough to make your body shake more. You were starting to swing more in a trance, feel each of his touches even more intense than before. Feel his rough grasp on your leg, feel his rough thrusts, feel his fingers skilled movements over your clit and feel his scent and the feeling of the smooth leather of his jacket surround you. âBe my dirty girl and cum on my cock, baby. Cum on my fucking cock!â, Negan called out as you were growing closer to your high, thrust by thrust until he finally send you over the edge and let your orgasm wash over you as he fucked you through it. Heavily breathing you could feel your chest rising and falling quickly as you slowly started to recover, though you stayed stuck in this haze of pleasure as you saw Neganâs eyes looking over you, visibly enjoying seeing you writhe on his cock while your bare body was only surrounded by his leather jacket. The grin on his lips was wide as he finally let go of your clit and instead moved up to wrap his hand around the back of your neck, and pulled your still shaking body up to face him. âCâmereâ, he growled, still keeping his movements going as you tried recollect yourself somehow and moved in to wrap your shaking legs around his hips, allowing him to thrust deeper. âFucking hellâ, he cussed out, his body tensing up as he rocked himself harder into you, stretching you out perfectly and hitting all the right spots as you moved your arms to wrap them around his neck, moaning and panting as you tried to meet his movements and give him the very same pleasure he had just given you. Glimpsing with a still hazy look in your eyes down, you watched him dragging himself back and forth into you before you felt his hands moving down to your hips, pushing you harder onto him as he moaned deeply. Taking the chance you leaned in to brush your lips over his neck and nipped on his heated skin, while more curses left his lips one by one. Reaching one of his hands up he grasped your jaw harshly, pulling you to his lips to he met you in a rough kiss that swallowed both of your moans and deep groans as Negan started to grow closer and closer. His thrusts grew harsher but sloppier, your kiss disrupted by his heavy pants that rumbled through his broad chest as his eyes found yours to keep them locked as he rocked himself harder into you. âHoly fuck...â, he groaned, pleasure written all over his face as his movements got faster and you allowed him to use you just the way he wanted right now until you finally felt him twitch deeply inside you. A shivering groan fell from his lips as he pulled himself just fast enough out of you, his body shivering harshly as he spilled himself over your stomach while the shocks of his orgasm rumbled through him. Panting his eyes fell from yours and fixed on his leatherjacket and your body that was covered in his cum, until he exhaustedly leaned against you, his forehead pressing against yours as you leaned in to cup his face and pressed a kiss over his lips. âHappy anniversary, Negan.â
9 days after Maggieâs arrival The afternoon sun fell brightly over Alexandria as you strolled through the infirmary, Neganâs handbook in one hand and a pen and Siddiqâs old notes about the herbs in your other as you headed towards the porch. Youâd already started to work on the book a little during yesterdayâs evening, but your small break now seemed like a good opportunity to continue with it. Rounding your last corner you peaked outside and saw Judith sitting at the end of the table on the porch, writing something while a couple pens were sprawled out around her. âHey Judeâ, you said with a smile as you moved outside, closing the door behind yourself as you nodded towards her,âWatcha doing?â âHomework...and Iâm waiting for Lydiaâ, she sighed as she looked up from her paper before a small smile grew on her lips as she nodded towards the small lake on the other side of the road,âI like the view here, makes it easier to study.â âOh thats true, itâs real pretty hereâ, you said as you moved closer and nodded towards one of the free chairs diagonally from her,âMind if I join?â Shaking her head she quickly moved some of the sprawled out pens closer to her to give you a bit more space before you sat down and laid stuff onto the table, just as something on the street caught your gaze. Tension washed over your body from one moment to another as you caught Maggie walking down the street, her son strolling right next to her as they chatted with each other. You tried to dart your glance quickly away from her but before you could her eyes met yours and let a shiver run down your back as the smile on her face turned into a frown within seconds. âWhatâs this?â, you suddenly heard Judithâs voice say, pulling you from Maggieâs stare as you glanced over at Judith and saw her pointing at the notebook, and though you knew that she was curious, the look in her eyes said more than 1000 words could. She was trying to distract you and you were going to let her. âGonna be a handbook for all the herbs we use in hereâ, you said, quickly opening up the book to show her the pages that were filled with the dried herb samples- âOh thatâs niceâ, she said, smiling brightly as she pointed at the dried comfrey leaf,âCan I?â Nodding, you watched her lean over and stroke her finger over the texture of the leaf, giggling as she fell back onto her chair, âWow, thatâs so cool.â âGotta tell Negan that, he dried themâ, you said with a chuckle just as her eyes fell on the street and she let out a small laugh. âSpeaking of.â Turning your head you saw Negan strolling down the street towards the infirmary, ready to pick you up for your shift later this day while Lydia walked next to him. âHey ladiesâ, Negan called out with quick wave and a grin as he reached the porch and nodded to Lydia next to him,âFound out we wanted to head to the same place.â âHiâ, Lydia said with a smile as she moved towards you, sat down across from you and set her book down on the table, smiling softly once more as you greeted her back and saw Negan plopping down on the chair beside her. âThink you could help me with a math problem?â, Judith finally asked as she reached for another slim book of hers and flipped through the pages as she glimpsed at Negan who quickly nodded. âSure thing, lemme seeâ, he said, reaching his hand out for the book before Judithâs eyes fell on you as she nodded towards the book. âOr do you wanna?â âNah I can pass on mathâ, you chuckled, watching Judith tilt her head a little before her glance bounced in between you and Negan. âBut youâre not as long out of school as Negan.â âHey, thatâs not fair, that doesnât mean shitâ, Negan called out in the very next moment, a wide grin growing on his lips as nodded at you,âAnd sheâs outta school for a long ass time too.â âNot as long as youâ, Judith quickly countered, and a grin pressed over her lips ,âSheâs still young. Youâre old.â âPff Iâm notâ, Negan defended himself, while another giggle fell from Judithâs lips. âThen whyâs your beard so gray?â âCareful Miss Grimes, youâre gettinâ boldâ, Negan called playfully out, pointing at her before he snatched the book with a thick laugh and a wide grin on his face from his fingers, just as you heard someone clearing his throat behind you. âHeyâ, you heard Steve say as soon as you turned around to him, catching him leaning against the door as he nodded inside,âCan I talk to you for a moment?â Strolling behind Steve into the infirmary you already expected him to ask you for help with the tinctures or salves that heâd been mixing earlier but instead, he stopped by the counters and nodded outside to the porch where Negan and the girls still sat. âHow about you take the rest of the day off? Negan too?â âI-â,you started, so surprised of him that you didnât even really know what to say first, âI would love to but I donât know if that would make a good impression.â âDayâs pretty, most have laid their work low todayâ, he said with a shrug, gesturing around the room,âInfirmary is quiet and honestly, Danielâs working at the woodhouses today so  I wouldnât mind taking over Neganâs shift.â âReally?â, it fell from our lips with the same surprised tone as before, your eyes wide as you started at him and couldnât quite belief his offer yet. Heâd always belonged to the kinder people in Alexandria, those who were willing to give your husband a chance but this was still something big for you. âReallyâ, he confirmed while the look in his eyes softened a little,âI think you deserve a bit time off too...and Iâll vouch for Negan if anyone questions it.â With that he surprised completely once for all, so much that it had to be written all over your face since Steve let out a small chuckle and shrugged his shoulders. âI may have thought differently about him a couple years ago but...heâs done goodâ, he said, his hand rubbing over his blonde beard stubble as he glimpsed back at you ,âAnd Daniel had only good things to say about him. So go have a nice afternoon off with him.â âThank youâ, you breathed out, still staring startled at him as you gulped thickly ,âReally, I-â âAll goodâ, he said with a nod as you found yourself lost at words for a moment before you started to collect yourself again. âIf you need a shift covered to have time off with Daniel youâll let me know too, alright?â âSureâ, he said with a smile, before he nodded outside where you could hear Negan laughing,âSee you tomorrow.â Nodding you watched him move back upstairs where heâd been working just as you could feel the happiness his sudden offer had brought into you starting to feel real. Smiling to yourself you moved back over to the door, hearing Negan defending himself loudly. âNow that ainât true! I make the best damn spaghetti!â, he called out just as you could peek through the door and see him nodding at Lydia and Judith ,âYâknow if youâre allowed, you can come over whenever you guys like and Iâll make âem for you. Theyâre the best!â âBarbaraâs are pretty goodâ, Judith countered back, the grin on her lips pretty telling that she wanted to vex Negan. âYeahâ, you could see Lydia nod, a small grin on her face as well Negan let out a thick groan. âNot as good as mine!â, he defended himself again, though the playful look was still spread over his face as he caught you walking outside and pointed at you,âTell them!â âHe makes the best spaghetti, you should come over and try itâ, you chuckled as you leaned yourself against the frame of the door and nodded at him,âI got some other good news too.â Quickly after finishing helping Judith with her math-problem you made your way back home, ecstatic to be able to spend your afternoon off together in your garden and use the beautiful weather outside to the fullest. Quickly, you switched into comfy clothes, got the sandwiches ready and prepared a comfy space outside with some thick blankets and pillows to cushion you from the grassy ground in the garden. Moving through the house you held two glasses of lemonade in your hands, made of an unopened can youâd found in the back of your pantry, the same one Negan had already loved years back. âI got a little surpriseâ,you said as you strolled down the porchâs stairs, grinning at Negan as he turned around from his spot on the blankets,âWas still unopened in the back of the cupboard.â âNo wayâ, he called out, his eyes lightening up as he looked at the lemonade like a kid looked at their Christmas presents ,âHoly fuck.â Chuckling you handed Negan his glass, that he eagerly took into his hand and gulped the first sip of lemonade down. âGod damnâ, he called out, sighing contently as he looked down at the ,âThis is like slurpinâ fucking sunrays.â Licking his lips he grinned at you as you let yourself fall next to him, sipping on your lemonade as well as Negan gestured to the sandwiches that were sprawled out over the big plate. âAnd now letâs get into this, Iâm hungry as hell, ainât gonna lie.â
Filled up till the rim you soon found yourself laying next to Negan, cuddled up into his side while you stared at the few clouds that travelled over the bright blue sky. Neganâs head was leaning against yours, his lips brushing against your forehead while his fingers stroke softly up and down your arm and content hums rumbled through his chest. âFuck, this is all I wanna do tonight, just lay here all sprawled outâ, his voice hummed against you as he pressed a soft kiss to your skin and nuzzled his nose into your hair.â You donât wanna cross off sex under the stars from your bucket list?â, you teased with a soft chuckle, hearing a small snicker fall from Neganâs lips before you could feel him slightly shaking his head. âSome other nightâ, he mumbled, pulling you a little closer as another sigh left his lips ,âJust wanna hold you and soak up some of that  peacefulness.â âSounds goodâ, you mumbled with a smile, moving in to press a kiss against his neck and you cuddled deeper into his warm embrace.
Minute for minute you enjoyed the moments with Negan outside, just relaxing and chatting while you sipped some more lemonade and watched the sun starting to move behind the treeline. The edges of the clouds gleamed brightly in the last light that got reflected onto them while the sunâs last breaths turned the sky into a beautiful mix of warm colors that melted into the blue.  Smiling you glimpsed from the sky to the small daisy that you were twirling in between your Fingers, only one of the many that were sprawled out over the lawn. With a chuckle you  propped yourself onto your elbow, glancing at Negan who glimpsed from the sky down at you with a curious look on his face. âWatcha doin?â, he chuckled as you leaned in to stick the daisy behind his ear, grinning as you watched his thick brows bounce up in surprise. âJust givinâ you a little makeoverâ, you chuckled, tilting your head bit to the side as you looked at him with a teasing grin,âThink you should wear daises more often, they really suit you.â âWell, what can I say?â, he snickered, shrugging his shoulders as the smirk on his lips grew a little wider âI can rock any look.â âFor sureâ, you laughed, adjusting the flower so it wouldnât lose its balance before you teased your fingers through his thick hair. âMakes me look really fucking intimidating, huh?â, he grinned, licking his lips as he narrowed his eyes playfully at you,âShittinâ your pants already?â âAbsolutelyâ, you snickered, nodding as you as Negan let out a thick laugh, the rumbling of his body enough to let the small flower slip from his ear again. âAh shitâ, he grumbled, reaching to the side of his head to grasp the daisy. He glimpsed at it for a second before he reached towards you and tucked the flower onto your ear. âLooks much better on you thoâ, he chuckled, grinning softly as he looked over you and you shook your head with small laugh. âPff Iâm not so sure about thatâ, you snickered as you moved into cuddle up against him again, using his arm as your pillow as you looked back up into the sky. Your eyes roamed over the colors that seemed to flow into one another while the edges of light around the clouds turned from a vibrant, bright orange into a soft, milder one. âYouâre such a sucker for sunsetsâ, you heard Negan chuckle beside you, tease swinging heavily through his voice as you glimpsed from the sky back over at him and let out a playful huff. âHow can anyone not be a sucker for them?â, you chuckled as you glimpsed from your husband back up at the sky,âReally, I donât know how thatâs even possible.â Smiling your eyes swayed over the colors again, taking them in one by one, from the almost lavenderlike lilac,, to the soft pink to the warm orange. âTheyâre some of the only things you can count on always being beautiful, no matter how awful everything gets. Same thing with those wildflowersâ, you mumbled, sighing softly as you cuddled into to the cushions underneath your body, âI know that sounds cheesy but theyâre little reminders that not everything pretty is lost...i just-...I really like that.â You almost waited for Negan to say something, either agree with you or tease you a little more but instead, you could see him looking at you from the corner of your eyes, silently while youâd talked. Moving your head you found his hazel eyes traveling over your face, a loving, warm look stuck within them while a soft smile played around his lips. âMhm?â, you hummed, almost waiting for him to say something but instead of hearing his voice, you saw him slowly moving in, grasping your face with one of his large hands before his lips met yours in a deep kiss. Sighing into him you kissed him back, feeling his soft lips caressing over yours while his beard stubble scrapped softly against your skin and his thumb stroke gently along your cheek. âJust fuckinâ love listening to you ramble all excitedâ, Negan finally mumbled as he let slowly go of his lips, though remained close as he gave you a grin,âYou know that. I could hear you ramble âbout dog shit and Iâd still listen.â Your smile mixed with a grin as you glimpsed up at him, still feeling his fingers brushing softly up and down the side of his face as he nodded at you. âSo go onâ, he grumbled with a grin while another chuckle fell from his lips,âI wanna hear more.â âAbout the dog shit or what?â, you mumbled back, watching a laugh fall from Neganâs lips as he moved his hand to give your waist a playful pinch. ââBout the fuckinâ sunsets!â âWell this is not a complain, but you brought me out of my flowâ, you mumbled, leaning up to peck his lips softly before you leaned back and watched him wink at you. âYouâll find back into it.â
You did. Somehow at least. You found yourself chatting and laughing with him while the sky turned more and more into a variety of purple and dark, lavish blue, revealing the stars the day had been hiding. Cuddled up underneath one of the blankets and enclosed in Neganâs warmth you were fully happy and peaceful, just happy about the present moment. Not thinking about the past, not worrying about the future. Â
11 days after Maggieâs arrival A yawn fell from your lips as you moved through the bathroom, massaging some moisturizer into your faceâs tried skin as you stumbled through the door into the bedroom and found Negan already laying in bed, reading one of the books heâd taken from the farmhouse. âItâs good?â, you asked as you shut the lights down in the bathroom and closed the door behind yourself, watching as Neganâs glance quickly moved up from the pages. âHell yeahâ, he chuckled, nodding towards the book as he let out a small groan, âI need ya to read it when Iâm done. Really, need someone to talk to about the fuckery thatâs happening in here.â âAlright, I willâ, you chuckled back, strolling over to the bed while Negan kept talking. âI mean the characters in here are awesome but fuck, thereâs this one couple thatâs just getting on my nutsâ, he sighed as you moved in to crawl into the bed and slip underneath the warm sheets to him,âKinda remind me of Sarah and that douchey guy from that trashy show.â âChad?â, you asked, watching him snip his fingers as he let out a thick laugh. âYep!â, he called out, snickering as you moved in to cuddle up into his side and allowed him to wrap his arm around you,âFuck, itâs alwaysâs a Chad, huh?â âAlwaysâ, you chuckled, sinking a little deeper into the cushions of the bed as you nodded towards the book, âYou wanna tell me what theyâre doing to be so awful?â âDonât wanna spoiler youâ, Negan grumbled, stopping for a moment as if he was pondering before he let out a sigh,âTheyâre just being annoying fucks all the time, fucking shit up for everyone else.â âYeah, sounds a lot like Sarah and Chadâ, you mumbled back, chuckling softly as you leaned in to nuzzle your head against his bare shoulder. âDone with the book for today?â, Negan asked, nodding towards the handbook that laid on your nightstand while you slowly nodded. âYeahâ, you mumbled, glimpsing at the book for a moment before you cuddled closer again,âToo sleepy to do more, donât wanna write mistakes in there or mess it up with some sleepy messy handwriting.â A hum left Neganâs lips as he reached for his bookmark and slipped it between the open pages, shutting it before he laid it back onto his nightstand. âYou donât have to stop for meâ, you mumbled, nuzzling your nose into his skin before you felt Negan moving over the mattress. âMhm but I want toâ, he mumbled, turning himself so he could roll onto his side, pull you closer against him and meet your lips in a slow kiss. Smiling against his lips you huddled up closer, running your hand up his chest until you could toy softly with his chesthair and hear a deep hum rumble up his throat. Sighing he slowly started to let go of you, moving his hand in to tease his thumb over your jaw while his eyes ran over your face. For a few moments it was quiet and you just found yourself glancing at him, your eyes running over his handsome face, those puppy eyes and the salt and pepper beard that was just slightly longer than usual before he thickly gulped. âHow long do you think this all will go well?â, he finally spoke out, his voice heavy as he bit his lip. âEach time I only see her from afar I feel like sheâs more tense...no matter how much she tries to ignore me â, he added, sighing heavily as he shook his head slightly,âLike some fucking vulcano thatâs gonna break out at some point.â âI donât knowâ, you finally whispered truthfully, swallowing heavily as you tried to find no let any of your fears get the best of you,âI just know that weâll deal with it...like weâve done with everything elseâ Your voice was quiet but hopeful as you glanced up at him, your fingers moving from his chest to his face as you softly ran your fingertips through his beard, just in the very same way that usually made him relax âAnd Carol still has to hold up her end of the bargain, she told me she would. Sheâs been in and out of Alexandria for the last couple days but if I see her next time, Iâll make sure to remind her of what she said to meâ, you said, stopping your soft movements for a moment as you made sure to keep his eyes looked onto yours. âWeâll find a wayâ, you mumbled, before a small sigh slipped from your lips as you cuddled closer into his embrace,âI donât know how yet but we will, this is our home and I wanna build our future here...Iâm not giving up on that.â

It was the hottest summer Buckinghamshire had ever seen. The rolling fields were dusted with the final remnants of spring, as the less-resilient plants wilted and those suited to the sweltering conditions flourished. The sun sat high in the sky for so long that one began to wonder if the night would ever come. Of course, it always did, but was rarely accompanied by any sort of liberation from the fervor.
The only relief to be gleaned from the unnerving sensation of being cooked in your own skin could be found in the cool waters of a large, clear lake that sat beside a homely manor, nestled in the hills of the county. Hidden beneath the outstretched branches of various trees, the lake had been subject to many a morning swim or late-night gathering over the years. It was here, in fact, that the four marauders could be found, on the hottest day of August, 1975.
With Euphemia and Fleamont gone to France for the summer, the boys had taken the opportunity to spend their last 2 weeks at the Potter estate. Of course, Jamesâ parents had been reluctant to let the boys stay there without a set of rules, and so they created a long list of guidelines, all of which the marauders had plans to break before their return to Hogwarts on the 1st of September. It had already been four blissful days of this, and they still had 10 to go when we join the group.
Sprawled in their various positions around the lake, James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew were all basking the shade of the trees, simply taking in this pocket of bliss they had found in a world that was becoming increasingly more war-like with each passing second. The sun was shining overhead and they were with each other. And in that moment, that was all they needed.
The silence was broken with a loud splash, followed by an indignant âOI!â Remus clambered out of the water and up the bank, his eyes fixed on is assailant, vengeance in his expression.
âYou fucking moron! I was reading! You could have thrown any one of them into the lake! Merlin knows a good dip wouldâve done Peter some good, but no! You had to choose me!â His outburst was cut short when he got close enough to take in Siriusâ expression. His face, far from showing any signs of regret, instead bore his signature Sirius Black smirk. One corner of his mouth was upturned, his nose scrunched in a way that suggested both innocence and the opposite. It was an expression that, on anyone else, would have looked out-of-place and frankly stupid, but that befitted Siriusâ features perfectly. Remus had often marveled at how it drew out his devilishly handsome side.
Having lost his train of thought completely, his wand limp in his hand, Remus decided the best thing to do was to go and find a nice warm patch of sun in which to dry off. Sirius, however, had other plans. Remus had barely taken two steps toward his towel before he was grabbed around the waist and thrown, for the second time that day, headfirst into the water.
Sinking was an enjoyable feeling. Down there, in the water, nothing could hurt you. It was all up to you. Sound became nothing but a detached concept, and time joined it in its alienation. You could sink forever, simply being engulfed by the soft waves of the water, and emerge not a second later. Remus did just that. As his head broke the surface, spluttering, he lashed out wildly and managed to grab hold of an ankle. Pulling hard, the owner of said ankle tumbled into the lake next to him, and Remus soon found himself floating, face to face, with Sirius, once again bearing that ridiculous grin.
As both of the boys tried to catch their breath, time stopped. And it was just them. Remus and Sirius, Sirius and Remus. Floating in that never-ending pool of possibilities. Breaths became heavy as an invisible force seemed to draw them closer, closer.
Their noses were nearly touching now Remus could see every detail of Siriusâ eyes from here. He could almost pinpoint the exact place where blue leaked into grey, which leaked into black. It was strange, really, how anyoneâs eyes could be so captivating. Almost a point of curiosity. Eyes had a purpose. They captured light, which was then translated into information, which was then processed by the brain to take in the personâs surroundings. So why did all logic defy Siriusâ eyes to be so beautiful? They had no reason to be. It wasnât to make it easier to see. It wasnât to draw in a mate (because merlin, he needed no help with that), so why? Their breath mingled in the moist summer air, their lips inches apart. It was taking every ounce of restraint that Remus had in his not to close the gap and snog his best mate senseless, but then again, that was the norm when you were secretly in love with your best friend.
The tensions was shattered by the snap of a book closing.
âAlright, boys, Iâm boredâ, James announced, stowing Quidditch Through the Ages in the small bag he had brought down from the house. The boys sprung apart, all nervous coughing and straightening of hair. Remus hurriedly turned his back on his â what, crush? It was more than that. But he knew one thing for certain; now was not the time to figure it out. This was what he told himself as he climbed up the bank and rolled out onto the grass.
In an attempt to restore himself to his former state of nonchalance, Remus rolled his eyes sarcastically (quite successfully, given the situation he was actually thinking about).
âYouâre reading that book again? Youâve barely taken your hands off of it all summer!â, he said, pulling Sirius up the bank after him (and definitely not thinking about the sensation of his friendâs warm, wet hand in his).
Sirius grinned. âAw, lay off him Rem. This is the first year Lily had gotten him a birthday present. Honestly, I would be concerned if he read it any less than a thousand times.â
This comment was met with a playful shove from James, but the lovesick boy couldnât hide his grin at the recollection of Lilyâs favor. James shook the memory from his mind (with difficulty, it seemed).
âIâm bored. Letâs go to town, grab a milkshake or something.â
Sirius, always keen for an outing to the muggle town that was located less than a kilometer from the Pottersâ house, agreed almost immediately. Peter followed suit at the mention of food, and began rummaging in his pocket for the stash of muggle money his parents had granted him for the holiday. Remus was somewhat more reluctant.
âI donât know guys. Itâll be dark soon, and I donât really want to go walking around a strange village in the middle of the night.â
âItâs not a strange village, Rem! Jamie grew up here!â (The use of the less-than-favorable nickname earned Sirius yet another shove). âPlus⌠thereâs an antiques store. And last time I was there the owner said theyâd be getting a new stock of books in this summer.â
âYou know me too wellâ, Remus caved, and packed up his stuff. They went and dropped off their things at the main house, got changed into some town-going clothes and headed for the road that led down into the charming muggle settlement of Padbury.
**
It really was a lovely little town. Old cottages with thatched roofs skirted the border, with carefully-trimmed gardens of heather and honeysuckle. A beautiful old church sat in the town center, with a clock tower and a bell that frankly, shouldnât still be operational, given itâs age. But, as many things in the town of Padbury, it seemed to be denied the effects of the passage of time, and instead chimed beautiful notes out over the countryside every hour.
The main road took the boys right into the middle of the town, where a collection of stores seemed to be waiting for them. The town square had everything, ranging from mechanics to diners, from supermarkets to florists. And, nestled in between a non-descript restaurant and a lavender-adorned wall, was a beautiful little antique store. Remus made a beeline for it, but was stopped in his tracks by Jamesâ hand on his wrist.
âCome on Remus. Letâs go check out that comic-book store first! I love muggle comics, theyâre so cornyâŚâ
Remus sighed, knowing that very few people could ever change his friendâs mind, and began to follow him across the street. But fortunately, Sirius was one of the people capable of performing that miraculous feat, and, in that moment, happened to be on Remusâ side.
âCâmon James. Remy doesnât want to spend hours with you oggling at randos in spandex and getting inspiration for your next move at Evans. You take Pete over to the comic-book store, and Remus and I will go to the antiques shop.â Sirius shot a smile Remusâ way, which managed to both make his heart beat a million miles a second and stop it altogether.
James scoffed. âWhat do you want with an antique shop?â
âI have to get something for Reggieâs birthday, and he loves old dusty books and things. Plus, I have no desire to spend any amount of time dicussing whether or not Lily would think it was funny if you dressed up as Superman for halloween.â
Without giving James a chance to retort, Sirius dragged Remus back across the street and into the antique store before he even had a chance to register what was going on.
The second they entered the store, the rest of the world fell away. Somehow, the noise of the bustling street outside was silenced, and the only sound that could be heard was the ticking of an ancient grandfather clock that stood in the corner. Remus revolved on the spot, taking in every inch of the sequestered nook that they had just stumbled upon. Ornate carvings of all sorts sat in the windows, varying from animals to sprawling, intricate landscapes. Tapestries and paintings hung on the walls, each a moment of time, perfectly captured and eternalised on canvas. Furniture, bits and pieces and other oddments that had washed up in this place over the years were scattered haphazardly around the room, making for a display of authenticity that, although was now mostly gone from the world, seemed to have survived in this tiny corner of the English countryside. And the books. Oh, the books. They lined ever wall, and were stacked 10 high on shelves. Strewn and slid into every nook and cranny where they would fit. Not in any way categorized, but instead exactly where they were always meant to be. Delicate printings of Jules Verne, Ernest Hemmingway and even Shakespeare were mixed in with books as common as The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Remus closed his eyes and breathed. He breathed in the smell of dust and time. He breathed in the taste of the years these books had seen, the years he might catch a glimpse of between their pages. Be breathed because here, he could.
A soft hand rested on his shoulder and an even softer voice pulled him, somewhat reluctantly, from his reverie.
âRem?â
Remus opened his eyes. It was Sirius. God, it was always Sirius.
âIâm going to look over here for something for Reggieâ, he gestured to the carvings in the windows. âYou take your time, okay? We have all day. Hell, we have all summer.â
Remus could do no more than nod as the comfortable weight on his shoulder lifted and he found himself alone again.
**
An hour and a half later, the boys exited the store with more books than anyone could possibly read, and two small, hollow carved flowers that Sirius had plans to enchant so that he could send his brother messages by placing a note inside his, and having it be transported to Regulusâ.
They met up with James and Peter in the diner, and ordered four caramel milkshakes. When they came, Sirius whipped out his flask and added a little âextra flavourâ, as he liked to call it. When the boys had finished their concoctions, they started to head home. However, it was quickly discovered that with the combined weight of Remusâ books, Siriusâ wooden flowers and Jamesâ numerous gifts that he had gotten for Lily (âMaybe we should have gone with him, you know, for impulse controlâŚâ), it was going to be all but impossible to walk back to the manor. And so was hatched what was simultaneously the best and worst idea any of the marauders ever had. To rent a motorbike.
All they had to do was walk down to the mechanic down the street and rent one of the bikes they had going. They would only need it for a day, and would bring it back tomorrow. And so, the combined riches of James and Sirius making cost something of a trivial topic, the plan was enacted. The books were placed in a basket on the front, which was lowered so that Sirius could see. Jamesâ takings from the trip were strapped (with slightly excessive security methods) to the back, and the flowers were placed in the side bags. After a few failed attempts at getting the bike started and close calls for the wooden ornaments, Sirius managed to be riding along next to the other boys at a steady pace. It took them no more than 20 minutes to get back home, at which point it occurred to them all that they were wizards, and could have easily bewitched all of the objects to float along beside them as they walked.
The boys ended the night collapsed around the living room fire. James charmed it so that it kept them cool, rather than warm, and Sirius entertained himself by making multi-coloured rainbows blossom from his wand. In the firelight, he looked over at Remus and smiled. Not a smirk, not a grin, a smile. And that smile what all it took for Remus to realise that he was totally and completely done-for. He was in love.
As Sirius went back to blowing bubbles, Remus began to drift off to sleep. The last coherent thought that entered his mind that night was this:
Merlin, itâs going to be a long 10 days.

I hope you liked it!!!

hiii boo đ can we get something angsty with boyfriend kylo? maybe something with cheating?
theme for this oneshot đŚ
you want angst with Ky???
âââ
Iâm off work early.
âOh fuck yes,â you cried out, tightening your hold on a set of strong shoulders. Moaning obscenely as they fucked you, legs wrapping around pistoning hips. A wet mouth enveloped your earlobe, shushing you to quiet down. You shook him off, wailing again as his cock pressed right there inside you.
Grabbing dinner, what do you want?
âJesus, babe,â he chuckled in your ear, âHas it been this long since he fucked you like this?â
You landed a harsh smack to his shoulder, âDonât talk about him.â
Answer your phone.
A harsh thrust, lips colliding together. You moaned into his lips, wanting to erase everything he touched. The years wasted hoping for something you wouldnât have, you believed everything was going to be okay.
Getting pizza, since you wonât fucking answer.
âFuck,â he huffed in your ear, letting you bury your face in his neck. You could feel how well he fit inside you, claiming you like you werenât belonging to someone else. Walls clenching as he pushed you towards your climax, milking his cock as he twitched inside you.
Where are you?
You pulled back, staring slack-jawed at his tense face. Cheeks red from fucking you ruthlessly, both of you looking in the eyes of the other. You placed a soft kiss on his lips as you both came, humming at the warm feeling in your center.
Hello?
He looked at you longingly, eyes hooded as he watched you come down. You hated it after, having his stare at you like that. Like you were worth something, like you mattered, when you know you havenât for a long time.
âI love you,â he mumbled.
You let out a chuckle, kind of a cross between a laugh and sob, pushing him off you so you could roll out of bed. Grabbing your phone to scroll through your messages, âOnly 6 this time,â you whispered to yourself.
Standing quickly, you didnât want him to touch you after. It just crossed a line you could cross, not with him. It felt worse than sleeping together. You popped into the bathroom, quickly cleaning yourself up. Even though it was useless, the two of you hadnât had sex in months. He wouldnât know if you had some other dudes cum inside you. Just like how you know he uses mouthwash before he comes home, so you canât taste the other womanâs cunt on his breath.
You could feel him watching you, laying back in his ruined bed as you dressed yourself. Brushing your hair and teeth, trying to look presentable, not that he would ask where you were when you stumbled home. You didnât ask him.
âWhy are you going back?â
You laughed again, tugging on your shoes from a chair in the corner. Not looking up as you answered, âItâs my house.â
He padded across the floor to stand before you, crouching down so you were forced to stare into his face. A gentle hand lifted your chin, âYou donât have to go, you can stay here with me?â
âNo, Vic,â you sighed, âI canât do that.â
Vicrulâs face scrunched with displeasure. Moving to slump down on the bed as you gathered your bag. His icy eyes watching your every move. You let out a long sigh when you finished, looking around the room to see if you missed something.
âHe doesnât love you,â Vicrul mumbled, âYou know that, right? Heâs never loved you, not like Iâve loved you.â
âBye, Vic.â
-----
The door was locked, forcing you to shamefully search for your keys. No doubt alerting him of your presence. You slipped your shoes off in the dim entryway, the living room lights off. Nothing in there disturbed, in probably weeks. You would probably need to dust in there again.
Same story in the dining room, a cabinet full of fine china behind the tables. Untouched since the day they were gifted to you, no one wanted to come over anymore.
You moved to the staircase, about to make your way up to the guest room, well your room now.
âWhere were you?â
A light flicked on in the kitchen, illuminating him.
Seated at the breakfast table, arms crossed and brow furrowed with fake worry. His phone sitting facedown on the surface, â(Y/N),â he asked again, âWhere were you?â
You shrugged, letting your hood fall off your head, âJust out Kylo.â
A hum, he turned away from you for a moment. Pretending to focus on something in your backyard, âOut where? Your location was turned off when I went to check.â
You rolled your eyes, âJust out, itâs not against the law to be out of the house.â
âYou couldâve been hurt, and I wouldnât have known where you were.â
You scoffed, slowly walking over to the table. He turned his head back, dark eyes glaring at you as you moved. Almost growling the closer you came. You set your back on the floor, matching his menacing stare.
âIf we are asking questions like that, where have you been going every other day?â
Kylo recoiled slightly, opening his mouth to respond but you stopped him, âHm? Do you think I donât know? Cause I know you arenât going to the gym with your friends like you say you are. But you always seem to come home very sweaty, so wanna answer that, or are we done here?â
He said nothing, readjusting his arms instead.
âYeah,â you teased, spinning on your feet, âThatâs what I thought big guy.â
-----
You showered.
It was easy, being blind to his infidelities. There were so many of them it was hard to keep track of them after a few weeks. Just shrugging when your friends showed you pictures, girls sending you screenshots of text messages, Tinder profiles, dick pics. It was just easier to know that he was just out there being shitty, no attachments or anything.
He would always come home to you, even if he slept downstairs.
Not that you wanted him near you, you could barely stomach it when he tried to touch you. The quick kiss when he came home was more than you could handle, and it made you sick. Why he thought it was okay to do that to you, you never tried to initiate things when you started sleeping with Vicrul.
But that was because it wasnât just a one-time thing.
It felt wrong to allow Kylo in after Vicrul expressed his desire for you.
Laying in bed you tried to relax, rolling on your back in the center. Cocooning yourself in the warm blankets you pulled from downstairs, surrounded by plush pillows. You turned on some soft music, perfect to drift off to sleep to. Anything to help you escape the nightmare that slept downstairs.
But fate had other plans.
Your door flew open.
An angry Kylo storming in, dressed in his pajamas. Fists clenched at his side as he loomed over the edge of the bed. You rolled your eyes, closed your eyes to drift off to sleep once more. But Kylo yanked on your blankets, revealing your absence of clothes.
You screeched at him, covering yourself as best you could as he threw the blankets on the floor in a huff.
âWhat the fuck dude!â
âYou have to stop sleeping with him.â
You furrowed your brow, sinking back into your divet in the mattress. Kylo didnât look at your body, eyes trained on your face. One of them twitching like it does when heâs very angry, you cleared your throat, âExcuse me?â
âYou will end whatever is going on with Vicrul.â
âUm,â you feigned innocence, âCome again?â
He groaned, running his fingers through his hair as he looked away, âI know that I havenât been great but you canât be sleeping with him-â
âYou donât get-â
âIâm fucking talking now,â he snarled at you, climbing on the bed on his knees. Kylo grasped your wrists in his palms, pinning them beside your head, âYou got to talk downstairs and now itâs my turn, you will end your relationship with Vicrul. Right now.â
âI donât fucking think so buster.â
He huffed in your face, eye twitching again, âI know I havenât been the best lately, but I havenât been letting someone else tell me they love me. Or returning it for that matter.â
You snorted, wiggling your arms to try and break free, âWhatever-youâve been sleeping around with hundreds of girls. Telling them how pretty they are, how good you would be to them, how you would cherish them every day if you had the chance. And now you come in here, accusing me of shit, when you donât have any evidence that Iâve done something when I have pages of dirt on you!â
Kylo leaned off you, glaring down at you as you spat out more, âIâm not stopping anything, Vicrul at least cares about me! Unlike you-you cheating fuck! Youâve been fucking other girls left and right and you dare to come at me like Iâm the monster! How dare you Kylo!â
Silence.
âAt least I know what it feels like to have someone love me. Because you, Kylo, do not love me.â
You pushed him hard on the chest, his footsteps staggering as he stood from your bed. Not once looking at you, just staring at the ground as he took deep breaths. You gathered the blankets from the floor, plopping down in a huff so you could resituate yourself.
A soft sniffle earned your attention, almost shocked when you saw Kylo staring at you. His bottom lip quivering slightly, nose red from holding in a sob, eyes lined with tears unshed. He took in a staggered breath, âDo you love him?â
âWha-â
âDo you love him?â
You looked away, pinching the edge of the blanket between your fingertips. Trying to ignore the soft tears being shed before you, or the sound of him moving to the side of your bed. Weight settling to your left as he sat down, âI have always loved you.â
You stayed quiet, rolling away from him so he faced your back.
âI donât love any of those girls, I donât want any of those girls. I donât want to see them every morning, having to share a bathroom with them. Eating cereal together, fighting over the TV together, or buying a fucking car and house or all the shit that Iâve done with you. I would rather sleep alone with you up here the rest of my life than have to have a real conversation with one of those bimbos I fucked.â
A warm hand touched your waist, a touch you hadnât welcomed in a long time. Causing you to let out a choked sob, burying your face into your pillow to drown out his words. He gave you a sharp squeeze, taking a deep breath, âDo you still love me?â
You shrugged, rolling now on your stomach to try and smother yourself. Kyloâs hand followed you, draping his strong arm across your back. âI have to know, please,â he whispered into your hair.
âI canât love you, not when youâre sleeping with all of them.â
âOkay.â
You sobbed again, allowing Kylo to collect you in his arms. Crying into your hair, rocking both your bodies in your blankets. He apologized between his own tears, holding you tighter as you cried back. Cursing and accusing him of everything you thought about hurling at him the past few months. Clawing against his skin, trying to mark him with the emptiness you felt every time he left you.
It felt like days had passed since you and Kylo cried together. Apologizing, and accusing, and apologizing again until the early hours of the morning. Feeling a little less broken, but still wounded as he held you against his chest. Both of your eyes puffy with tears, voices strained as you whispered I love youâs to each other for the first time in months. Rubbing chest to chest, skin on skin, lips on lips, the passion and fear flowing through you both like you were one.
You both promised to move on.
To forgive.
But never forget.
âââ
color me in tears anon.

DannyMay 2021 Day 11: Midnight
Seaside Light Keeper - Chapter 1: Witching Hour
Summary: Danny Fenton was the latest in a long long line of Fenton's to live in the Fenton Lighthouse on the shores of Port Amity. He's known all his life that one day the Lighthouse will be his, both as a home and as a responsibility.
One late night in the woods changes everything.
Word Count: 1,973
Part 1 of a new AU? Wow who would have guessed I would have another AU idea đ
You can read on AO3 or down below the cut
Danny lay in his bed listening to the sounds of his home. Everyone else was already asleep and the gentle rhythm of the ocean lapping against the shore made it hard not to join them. Just as he was starting to nod off his phone lit up his darkened bedroom with a notification.
It was time.
He pulled himself up and checked the message. âItâs now or never dweeb.â
Danny sighed and shook his head before sending a message that heâd be right out. Maybe if he just ignored the name-calling Dash would get bored and stop?
He slipped his phone into his pocket, flipped his blanket back onto the bed after rearranging the pillows to look like he was under there, grabbed his socks and shoes before he carefully made it out of the house.
He wasnât too worried about his parents finding him out of bed in the middle of the night. His dad was asleep based on the loud snores coming from his parentâs room while his mom was upstairs on the first watch. He just had to make sure his sister didnât wake up and catch him fully clothed as he was still sneaking out.
Luck was on his side tonight and he was able to slip out into the cool night air with no interruptions. The sand was already so cold without the sun to warm it this late at night. He sort of regretted not slipping his shoes on while he was on the porch, but he liked running along the beach barefoot.
He spotted Dash and Kwan pretty easily given how much taller they were than most of the guys in their class. The pair was loitering near the edge of the pier just out of the glow of the streetlight near the no loitering sign.
Danny tried not to snicker at the irony as he made his way over.
âAnd here I was thinking you werenât going to show?â
âI sent you a text back.â
Dash pulled his phone out and stared at it for a minute before showing the phone to Danny, âYou sure about that?â There was nothing on the reply side from Danny.
Danny pulled out his own phone and saw it had failed to send the message, âWell I tried too.â he shoved the useless phone back in his pocket and looked back to the taller boys, âSo you never did tell me why we were meeting here.â
âYeah I did.â Dash denied.
Kwan pondered on it for a moment, âNo, I donât think you did.â Then he looked back down to Danny, âYou should really put your shoes on.â
He nodded and brushed the sand off the soles of his feet before slipping on his footwear. âIf Iâm remembering correctly, all you said at school was,â Danny cleared his throat as he stood up and did his best impression of Dash, which is to say put on the most annoying voice he could manage without laughing, âmeet me by the pier at midnight, or else.â
âI donât sound like that!â
Kwan hit Dash in the chest with the back of his hand, âDude shut up! Someoneâs going to hear us.â
âWhatever letâs just go.â
âWhere are we going?!â Danny asked in exasperation as he followed.
âWeâre looking for the witchâs well.â Dash finally explained before heading off towards the forest.
Of course, they were.
If there was one thing Port Amity had that would probably outlive the town itself, it was the legend of the witchâs well.
Long ago, when Port Amity was barely a little blip on the map, there was a woman who lived alone in the woods. Seeing as it was in ye olden times, that was suspicious. The townsfolk avoided her. They called her a witch.
Apparently, she never denied these claims. It was said that she told the townsfolk that all she wanted to do was to live her life in the forest and she would keep to herself. She told them they had no reason to fear her.
Despite her asking for a peaceful co-existence the town didnât agree. They did what you did to witches in the Salem era. They locked her in her house and burned it down around her.
Once the final embers died out the townsfolk discovered that she had a well, a very deep well. Far deeper than it needed to be. Deep enough to reach the sea.
Or at least that was the story.
No one has ever been able to find the well since. The arsonist townfolk didnât tell anyone where they committed their crime so the location was lost to time.
Over the years, whenever anything bad happened to the town, the witch was blamed.
The poor crops after the untimely death of the witch? Witchâs fault.
The hurricane in the fifties that nearly wiped the town into the sea? Witchâs fault.
The poor fishing catches of the last twenty years? Witchâs fault.
Most people didnât actually believe in the witch or her well. It had become more of a local legend. It didnât stop her from being everyoneâs scapegoat though.
Did you fail a test? Witchâs fault.
Did your crush not accept your confession? Witchâs fault.
Did you trip on a crack in the sidewalk? Witchâs fault.
It was basically a locals-only meme now.
Danny followed along even if he thought they wouldnât end up finding anything. If there really was a house in the woods it had to be overgrown and completely hidden after all this time. Same with the well.
He pulled his phone out and sent a quick text to Tucker even though he was probably sleeping. âHey you were right after all. Weâre going into the woods now.â
He hoped they didnât stay out too long, he did plan on getting some sleep tonight.
Once they were completely engulfed by the foliage Tucker replied, âlet me know when they ditch you.â
Danny couldnât help the light scoff that escaped his lips, âRude! Donât be jealous because they invited me and not you.â
âLet me know when they ditch you.â
âDid you send that twice or is my phone glitching again?â
âI sent it twice. Iâm being petty.â
Danny snorted as he tried to repress his laugh. At least Tucker was honest.
âWhat are you doing back there?â Dash whisper-shouted back at him over his shoulder.
âNothing,â Danny lied as he tried to decide if he should keep his phone out or slip it back into his pocket.
âWell stop it and help us.â
Danny turned the flashlight app on and got closer not realizing he had straggled so far behind.
âWhy are we doing this in the middle of the night anyway? Wouldnât it be easier with the sun out?â
âDonât be stupid. The place canât be found during the day, itâs part of the curse.â
Danny stopped dead in his tracks, âIâm sorry, what?â
âOh come on. Donât act like you donât know. Youâre from one of the founding families.â
âAll that means is that I inherit the lighthouse when my folks retire.â
âI told you he wouldnât know,â Kwan muttered loud enough for them all to hear.
âWouldnât know what?â Danny asked and wondered if maybe they had taken in too much salt water from all their time at sea this summer.
âLook, thereâs not a lot to talk about when youâre at sea, and we got to talking about the witch,â Kwan started but was quickly interrupted by Dashâs moaning protest.
Kwan ignored him and continued to both tell his story and slowly walk through the woods.
âThereâs this part of the legend that says only under the light of the full moon can a descendant of the original witch hunters find the house.â
âSo you brought me?â Danny deadpanned not at all thrilled to know they invited him only because of his lineage.
âWell yeah,â Dash shrugged.
âWhy not invite my sister then? I thought you liked her?â
âUh, yeah, thatâs exactly why I didnât invite her.â Dash took Dannyâs silent confusion as his cue to continue, âWhat if the witchâs ghost is still hanging around and gets mad and wants to avenge her death or whatever?â
Dannyâs mouth dropped open, âyou brought me out here to be killed by a ghost?â
âItâs not that I want you dead, itâs just that between the two of you, the choice is pretty obvious.â
âYou know what, screw you! Iâm going home!â
âAw come on, Fenton! I was only teasing!â Dash called as Danny stormed off.
Danny ran for a little bit before he started to get winded so he leaned against a nearby tree.
He heard Dash and Kwan calling after him but he didnât want anything to do with those jerks right now, so he slipped behind the tree and waited for them to pass.
He sighed and realized they were going back towards town and now heâd have to follow them out. He didnât want to follow after them. Not now, not ever again. He was done trying to get their attention. Done trying to get them to like him when they clearly didnât care about him at all.
He doubled back to put more distance between them and figured heâd just exit the forest from a different spot. All he had to do was follow the sound of the sea and heâd be on the beach again.
He never once was worried about getting lost in his hometown. As long as he could get to the beach he could find his way home. Perks of growing up in a lighthouse.
He walked along and it wasnât until he had to pull out his phone to see where he was going that he realized he might be walking the wrong way. If he was following the sound of the ocean, the forest should be getting lighter as he got closer to the beach, not darker.
He was trying not to panic as he looked around for any sign of something familiar, but everything in the forest just looked the same in the dark.
His foot hit a particularly sturdy rock and he tripped. As he tried to regain his balance he twisted and ended up falling backward instead of face first.
Then he kept falling.
He wasnât touching anything.
For a split second, he thought he was going to just fall forever.
Then he hit the ground.
Hard.
All the air left his body and he just couldnât get it back in. his eyes were wide as he looked up at the circular opening above him.
All he could do was look. He couldnât even breathe.
Then the air rushed back in.
He didnât know where he was.
No one knew where he was.
His eyes franticly searched for any clues as to where he was. As to how to get out.
The opening was a circle.
From what little light the moon provided he could just make out the unmistakable lines of brickwork.
He found the well.
They were never going to find him.
He had to get out.
If he could climb out he could find his way to shore again.
He tried to sit up but he screamed instead.
Everything hurt.
He was starting to think he broke something.
He had to get out, but how could he if he couldnât even sit up?
He looked around and found his phone nearby. He smiled, glad that it had fallen down with him and wasnât still up above.
He reached for it but it wasnât close enough to grab.
He tried to stretch his arm out a little farther, but he still couldnât reach it.
He tried to lean in farther, but it hurt too much.
With nothing else left to do; he cried.
