oh my god please tell me EVERYTHING about your detective and I mean everything
hehe ok!!
so i have 4 detectives that i use for all 4 different LI's but my favourite and main detective is Helena Aziza Hawks who i put through torment daily for the sake of angst :) (her LI is Adam lol)
Helena is the nicest person you'll ever meet. (unless she doesn't like you then rip) she is very understanding and caring but not to the point of being naive. she has her boundries and she will never be nice to someone who is actively mean to her or treating her badly and she can be extremely cruel if her buttons are pushed (ask adam and rebecca they'll tell you)
during her entire childhood and teenage years she worked hard to win her mothers approval. she studied, did all the extra work and even went on beyond on other things such as learning 3 languages and etc. she built her entire life on the purpose of making her mother proud of herself but once she realized dear old rebecca didn't even care she had a mental breakdown and tried to unalive herself, woke up to rebecca sitting by her side and realized the only way to make her show up was to literally die. their relationship crashed and burned after that (she still loves her though, and tries her best with her after the events of book 1 but whenever some secret surfaces she pushes her away again)
she misses rook more than anything else. especially after adam (as of book 3) she is sure that the only person who could ever love her the way she needed is dead and that HURTS. she just wants to be seen as a strenght rather than a weak spot and wants to be loved without fear. she really belived that adam and her could work out and was very bold about but after book 2 ending and now especially after book 3ending (she pushed him away the entire book and did not kiss him because she is tired of hurting herself) she is done with him. therefore she doesn't want to become a vampire because she wants to possibly see her dad again one day.
her best friend is morgan. like i said she is not someone who is nice to people without condition but as morgan was someone she had to work with in order to solve the case she took the diplomatic approach, and ended up being close to her. (she is very good with people either way)
she would probably break her hand if she tried to punch anyone (when your combat stat is %17 lmao)
she can be EXTREMELY manipulative though, if she wants. she knows how to get under someones skin
she is half egyptian (from rook's side) and half japanese (from rebecca's side)
when she is going through shit rather than talking about it she plays Mayonako no Door/Stay With Me or Class of 2013 and cries.
im gonna shut up now or else this post will be 150k+ words but thank you SO MUCH for the ask <333

[ID: A panel from Dungeon Meshi. It shows the corpses of Senshi, Chilchuck, Izutsumi and Laois all propped up against fancy paintings sitting on the ground against the wall. Marcille is alive but has a reddened, tear-streaked face and a dead-eyed expression as she leans her head against Laios' shoulder, reached out a hand, and says, "Did you give even a moment's thought to how I'd feel surrounded by your corpses...?" End ID.]
God this panel took me right the fuck out. On the one hand, what else can they do? Marcille's the only member of the party skilled enough in magic to do resurrection spells. Laois straight up tells her he's giving her the neck armour because she's the healer, the one they can't afford to lose; she can rez the rest but if she dies, they're all doomed. And it's a uniquely cruel position for Marcille to be in because of her deep, aching fear of outliving everyone she loves, a fear that Laios has to be aware of on some level, even if he doesn't clearly remember the nightmare he rescued Marcille from... but even if he was fully aware of it, that doesn't change the fact that she's the only one of them who can rez. It's inescapable that she has to be in this position, just as, in the end, it's inescapable that she will outlive everyone in this panel even if they live to ripe old ages. Marcille being forced to microdose her inevitable looming grief is a great setup for her making the decision she does when they meet the Winged Lion--how can she go through this again, for real?

My biggest beef with the way Annabeth was written in the show is that I think Rick fell into his own trap. Like his whole thing with Annabeth is that just because someone doesn’t look smart doesn’t mean they aren’t. And while it’s about their literal looks for both the show and the book, book Annabeth also sometimes acted in ways that people wouldn’t stereotypically associate with “smart” because I think we’ve all be condition to think bbc sherlock no emotions genius is the only way to be smart. Book Annabeth acts super flustered around Luke because she's a kid and she has a crush on him, she's afraid of spiders, and wanted to see the arch just because she thought it was cool. In general book Annabeth is allowed to be sillier and have a wider range of emotions than show Annabeth without it detracting from the fact that Annabeth is smart. I find this whole "stoic genius" idea is often used to put down teenage girls for being dumb and superficial just because they show emotions and the only way to beat it is to be cold, calculating, and emotionless and most people just aren't like that.

if you struggle with mental health, one piece of advice i would genuinely give you is learn to knit.
or crochet: something repetitive to do with your hands, assuming you're capable of it. if you're like me and learnt to knit as a kid but let it lie fallow for a long time, it may be that starting a large, simple project (for me it was a cloak, but a blanket could work too) gets you back into it. or maybe doing something smaller, idk. i personally found socks really hard for a while because they felt smaller than my cloak but weren't getting Done quick enough for me. as i've sped up i find it more interesting to knit socks.
regardless, a repetitive task is great for emotional regulation (also see: autistic stimming), and something that you can look at and go hey i've done something, unlike simply using a fidget toy, can also help to pick your mood up when the brain is being cruel.
it's also useful as a conversation starter or distracter if you don't know what to talk about. if you're wanting to talk to older people also you're more likely to reel them in with knitting (i work better with older people, and 99% of people who ask what i'm knitting are older than me). it also gives you the opportunity to not make eye contact because you're busy knitting, even if you're still carrying on a conversation. if you're absolutely stuck for conversation you can count your stitches and people might stop bothering you.
if you have trouble focusing without doing something with your hands, you can knit! i knit a lot in church, and it helps me to focus on what's being said.
i probably have more reasons you should pick up knitting, but i can't recall them right now, so yeah.

Leo being put into a situation where there is absolutely no fighting, just verbal manipulation and perception games, would be amazing to witness. We see a lot in the series how good he is at subterfuge and how he uses his perception to manipulate to great effect, so it’d be so cool to really see it put to the test even more.
Manipulation is one of the most effective tactical strategies of all time, so just imagine Leo putting this skillset of his to the full test. Imagine the boys slowly get up to busting bigger and more powerful criminals, including those with networks of crime under their belt, and a simple fight isn’t enough to take them down. For criminals like this, Leo’s skills in subterfuge would be deadly.
