i totally get why art that seems "shock for shock-sake" is a turn off for some people. it honestly wasnt until earlier this year, after i remembered some really fucked up shit that happened to me, that i realized why i am so drawn to that kind of thing.
making a work that is shocking to be shocking isnt easy--decent writing, composition, themes, those all still apply. and then, theres the added challenge of writing about topics that are ~controversial~
i think the immediate thing that comes to mind is rape revenge, one of my favorite horror subgenres. one of my favorite rape revenge movies is i spit on your grave, the 2010 remake of the 1978 film. the original is, by todays standards, much more tame. the attack is far less brutal, the murders are less graphic, even the scenery [ connecticut in spring, as opposed to the remakes setting of louisiana in fall ] is much more green and vibrant, and more pleasant to look at in my opinion. i think both of these films have a reputation for being shlock--exploitative, misogynistic, torture-porn. and i dont even think they arent those things [ and the victim being a rich white woman, her attackers impoverished white men. these films are very classist in my opinion ].
rape revenge is a very controversial genre, made even more so by the fact that many of the most well known films are written and directed by men [ i spit on your grave, the original and its remake, same of the last house of the left and its remake, in fact female writers and directors are relatively new to this subgenre ]
if id been asked earlier this year, "what is it about this genre that you find so compelling?" i wouldve struggled to answer. i think the best i couldve come up with is something like, "catharsis." and i do find these films cathartic. they are tense and brutal, and at the end, when the bad guys have died their grotesque deaths, unable to harm anyone anymore, i breathe a sigh of relief. but the truth is, i like that they make people uncomfortable.
to me, these pieces of work existing, even though i havent made any of these works myself, are my own revenge. i want people to watch them, and i do get offended when someone finds them morally wrong. in the evilest parts of my soul i want to force people to watch these devastating, "pointless", "shocking-for-shocks-sake" films and feel even a fraction of what i do. for even a moment, feel as helpless, trapped, terrified, hurt, disoriented, enraged, and humiliated as i do. yes, i want people to be shocked. i want them to be shocked because i want them to feel it. i want their hearts and minds, souls and bodies to be as tainted as mine, even if its just a little bit. i want people to be as traumatized as i am.
i understand this isnt rational. for one thing, i am far from the only rape victim in the world. im not even the only childhood rape victim in the world. im not even the only victim of csam/sex trafficking victim in the world. im not the only person whos family had a "weird uncle", that everyone, even his victims, refused to acknowledge what he was. im not the only victim of sexual harassment and stalking. im just one of perhaps millions, a victim of all of those things. there are perhaps thousands of people with a history nearly identical to mine. but i dont care. i want them to hurt too.
art is supposed to make you feel something. its often said that art is a conversation between you and the artist. how do you feel when the artist wants to abuse you? how do you feel when the artist, knowing nothing of your own history, shows you the ugliest, most rancid, most infected parts of themselves, and they ask you to look?
look at me. look at what i am missing. look at how i am mangled. look at how i am ugly. i am not a palatable victim. i wasnt saved from abuse. the fbi never broke in while i was being photographed or molested and saved me from my fate. the worst happened. and it happened again, and again, and again and no one noticed, and no one saved me. i didnt even save myself. i didnt move away from it all, abandon everyone id ever known, and change my identity like i desperately wanted when i was a teenager. im broke, and i still live within a 1 mile radius of where all the worst things in my life happened to me. i live just 2 blocks away from where i was trafficked and used to make csam. i live just 2 houses down from where i was groomed and repeatedly raped by my best friends dad. im not there anymore, in the sense that years have passed, and i am an adult now. but i still live here, still see his house every day, still see the tree in front of the house where i was nearly drowned to keep me quiet and afraid.

Leverage Redemption Job: The Huricane Job
Weird name, not because huricanes are weird, or huricane relief being exploited/scammed somehow feels weird. But because i think i remember a reference to Katrina in like, the second episode of this sequel? Wasnt that why the tailor-woman moved to that neighbourhood she was almost gonna be evicted from?
--- Hotel on the coast, The Lin Manuel Miranda we ordered from Wish is running for (presumably) his life. Two cops begin torturing him for a phone he posesses (Diversity win! The instrument of government sanctioned violence and torture is black!)
Huh, I thought Abel was supposed to be the one getting his skull caved in. --- Back in the teaser again. Still disapointed by the lack of casino's ominous smoke or timebombs.
Oh i see. This isnt about huricane relief its just happening during an actual huricane. (did anyone say bottle episode?)
Ok so the US Marshal is still dating Elliot, (you know for all the tumblr-fanbase insistence that this is a cannon ot3? Im not seeing much evidence, things could change but we're at the end of the sequel series first season so... Like they're definitly like banded together for life as a team and sort-of-family but i dont see any evidence in the actual show for Elliot being with Parker and Hardison relationship-wise)
Parker does not like their return-trip from an actual crime to be with a US Marshal (she's got a point, but desperate times=strange bedfellows)
No i dont think you got "Happy" wrong, i think that Elliot is afraid of happiness.
Not-Abel tries to prevent Elliot and Parker from entering the inn but Not-a-hawaiian-shirt-but-similar-vibes (can someone tell me what those are called) tells them they cant just let people die in the storm.
Cane owns the hotel, Roxie is general manager. Does not like the idea of people staying at the hotel. (yeah this is definitly a front for something. Also Elliot registered them as cops based on their vibe so we know they're legitimately cops rather then crooks pretending to be.)
Cal and Liz, probably a reference im not getting. Old guy doesnt even own a tv (gets his news from newspaper, less depressing news that way. Lead story is a lottery win, so we know what the secret motive of the episode is gonna be, Lin Manuel won the lottery and the cops are trying to murder him to get the ticket, but we're gonna spend half the episode thinking its a whistleblower thing. Unfortunately for the writers i remember the episode of Monk where someone was murdered on his doorstep to prevent him getting his newspaper delivered cause his upstairs neighbour won the lottery so im not falling for it.) "smells like cleaning suplies", bleach to remove bloodstains.
Maria is here, and its time for her to get even more evidence that something is not right with her boyfriend. --- We're locked up... theoretically... alledgedly... Look Parker is in the room lets skip the pretense. They give Ship Parkers Ear-thingy so she and Elliot can go get the radio from the boat (weird, would make more sense
Elliot tries to explain to Ship that parker is bad at reading peoples emotions but kind of slips on his ass. Want to note that this is two episodes in a row without Breanna (actress must've been busy)
Elliot tries to apologise for getting Ship involved but she's just happy that people in need are getting the help they need.
Harry is off to talk to Win Manuel (i know he's got a name but his actual name doesnt allow me to make "lottery winner" puns so Win Manuel it its.) Sophie stays as middleman on the coms.

So yeah, every non-abel cop thinks they're looking for the phone cause evidence. Abel lied to them, its the ticket. --- Ok the radio can be fixed if we get a fuse (Parkertime!)
Ship tells Elliot not to be a martyr. --- Parker has the fuse, and looks at an illegible page. She's doing the smelly-face. (this is where the chlorine smell came from)
Harry recognises his colleague from a jingle (they're a lottery lawyer, *smug grin intensifies*)
Oh its accelerant he smells like. Breaker flips, and i want to note that i love the candles used to light the scene. (obviously its realistic, in case of a blackout candles are a reliable light-source and huricane prone areas people tend to have those in stock) but they've been here all along throughout the episode and suddenly become a lot more subtly ominous after Parker tells us our baddie smells of chemical accelerants. --- Not much a lawyer can work with, time for his second ever self-organised social con!
Quick switch with the chest-compression teaching dummy and Solina is out.

Parker has found the ticket, (and accidentally lit herself a bat-signal)

I just had a FNAF Moon nightmare. First person and everything. Which is really freaking weird
Because i do not consume FNAF content. Ive seen the nephew put on some clips and i see fanart occasionally from like TWO people I follow but OTHER THAN THAT... I do not seek FNAF content. I don't know jack shit about that guy XD
But I was on some roof pavillion. At night. Well lit by the moon I guess. With some kind of friend. Who was romantically interested in Moon and knew how to handle him. He showed up kind of unexpectedly and I had to be super careful on how i acted otherwise he was gonna kill me.
So I guess in true monsterfucker fashion, I turned it into one of those romantic rpgs but if i didnt get a favorable reaction he wouldn't dump me i'd just be murdered I guess. (I did this in another murdery monster dream.....😅)
One of the things was i had to keep my gaze down. Either closed or as unobtrusive as possible. I could stare at my hands. It was very first person pov. I dont remember much of the conversation but most of it was led by my friend person.
He wasnt thrilled a stranger was up there unexpectedly so he was hovery in a very murdery but seeing where this goes sort of way.
At one point I was really scared so i just started humming a song. At first the friend warned me to stop (like, nope, he doesnt like that, hes moving in-) ..but then told me to keep going. So I guess he liked it or his curiosity was piqued
I was almost home free and the friend (who i couldn't see, they were at my back the whole time) was like "give us a kiss"
And he like. Licked my shoulder or something odd like that. And then i saw that he was offering up 'cheek' so I pecked him obediently. Without looking.
And that was supposed to signify the end of the visit and the friend disappeared and i try to make my way across the roof... But i sense moon behind me, sneaking up. So i pause. I see his shadow move up against mine-
So I said, still facing empty roof "...can i have another kiss?" Which made him pause.
"....I dont think you could keep up with me. (and something i couldnt hear)" I askes him to repeat, 'cause. Yknow. Deaf. I can barely perceive his voice in the first place.
"........
.....I dont think you could keep up with me. ...i was born dead."
"....oh. I dont know what that does to a person." *twiddles thumbs shyly*
(REMEMBER IM TRYING TO SURVIVE HERE FOLKS 😂 Also I think the hard of hearing part was my brain running AI software and it was struggling to find something to work with lmao. It felt like a bad AI'd Twilight moment...)
Unfortunately (?) This is where plot ends because thats when i start having asthma IRL and start breathing out of my mouth, and I'm lying on my good ear so the accoustics of hearing my own raspy breathing freaked me out of the dream and into consciousness.
Where i find my cat laying OUTSIDE MY DOORWAY ONCE AGAIN. As opposed to the edge of my bed. Where i can see him. 😭
But yeah. That shit was freaky. I'd like to unsubscribe, please. 👆
Also something is making an occassional scratching noise, it think it might be the fan rattling in the next room but there goes any hope of sleeping after this 🫠

It's writers wanting Wanda to put down a man in her life for "empowerment" even though there are men in her life like Vision or Magneto that actually abused her (Doom counts too but unlike these two he is called out and punished by the narrative for it). Cause "romance is king" and Magneto is popular or some rubbish. Pietro can be overbearing and overprotective but he was never abusive to his sister or used her to get what he wanted, but funnily enough, those other men have. Even if you actually read HoM Pietro more convinced or at worst pressured her than manipulated her. She was also not completely weak willed or mentally incapable of making a full decision either as she shot down several of his suggestions and only relented when he said "give them what they want or we will never be together ever again" (that's significant, leaving her brother alone was not an option and when he was killed was when she reached the end of her teather and snapped). He was desperately trying to protect her because the avengers and X-Men were going to kill her and Magneto was going to let them. It wasnt the right decision by any means and she was vulnerable in that moment but he was the only one standing besides her and trying to protect her, while everyone else was gonna use her vulnerability against her and kill her. He gained nothing from the reality where everyone got their deepest desire except his sister's safety, his daughter wasn't even there!
(the second panel is taken from a period in the comics where Pietro was under the Red Skull's influence btw - leading to Robinson's even shittier writing about the twins than Orlando's though some days it's hard to tell)
Pietro can be overly protective and bossy but it's from a lifetime of having to step up and do that for the both of them. I don't think it's wrong to point out when he goes too far but to make it seem like Pietro was the abusive figure of her life to prop up Wanda or vision or Magneto is kind of a joke when that's never been the case.
The irony of this is if you read their first few years of stories the twins have always had an even partnership. Pietro may have often played the spoksperson but Wanda's decision was always the final one. For the 60s this was extremely significant. Look at how the X-Men treated Jean, the Fantastic 4 - Sue and original avengers -Jan at times. Wanda and Pietro were created as an equal partnership and while not super notable by today's standard that was a hell of a lot more than most female characters got and really progressive for the 60s.
In a way writers doing this "Pietro is mysoginist controling brother to poor gentle Wanda" is less feminist and empowering than they think because they are stripping Wanda of the agency she did have from those time periods and saying it didn't matter. Saying she was weak for having a person in her life she trusted and worked with. They are taking what was intended to be an equal partnership, a relationship of pure platonic love where there were no expectations of each other and just support and tearing it down. All while ironically promoting her relationship with the father figure that physically and mentally abused her, left her to die when she didn't align with his plans or was a burden, murdered her brother, whored her out, let Karakoa spread propaganda about her being the pretender or the love interest that was behind the decision to mind whipe her of her beloved children rather than let her mourn them because she was being a bother, kept gaslighting her about the children not being real, then blamed her for everything wrong in their marriage, treated her coldy and was cruel to her about said children, basically mocked her regarding boys (that were supposed to also be his children) and claiming she was "tricking him" through their relationship. Marvel ignoring these to force her back into "unproblematic happy" relationships with these men is more insulting to Wanda than letting her be close to her brother. Had those men been called out by her, acknowledge what they did wrong and actually work for her forgiveness I would be fine with her building relationships with them but that's not what happened - Wanda just forgives them cause women are forgiving creatures who look the other way when it comes to their father's, husbands and sons (though Billy and Tommy are good boys who have done no wrong here). Do Marvel not see the irony lol? They're promoting relationships and messages that are ironically less empowering for Wanda with the way they are currently forcing her relationships with Vision and Magneto.
It always ignores that Wanda was also as protective of Pietro, sometimes violently so (his murder by their father lead to consequences for all mutantkind- a fact from HoM amongst many others Orlando does not have Wanda mention in issue 1 of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver) but women can only be protective over men that are their husbands or sons right? There has always been an inherant sexism in how Wanda is never really allowed to have other men she's close to in her life outside of her romantic relationships once she has a new boyfriend with the exception of her relationship with Jericho (or a dad/child) and Pietro is often framed as an obstacle or competitor to her effections (sometimes never done with Pietro's love interests btw). It's wired, inhertantly sexist and kind of gross.
I do think the twins have a codependency problem. While they've always been close the circumstances of their lives forced them to intertwine with each other in a way most siblings don't have to. They were forced to become each others sibling, best friend, parent, the only family they had left. Each others most intimate relationship. The twins are interesting contrasts to their father because they are so full of love and willing to burn the world for family whereas Magneto would burn them ironically for mutant kind and has done so multiple times. Pietro encouraged Wanda to create HoM out of Love. Wanda decimated Mutants for revenge against their father's ego fueled rage murder of Pietro one of the people she loved the most in the world and one of the few people she had left after losing her sons. She has her father's cold wrath (of the twins I will maintain that while Pietro is the one with the quick temper and bad attitude once Wanda snaps her rage is greater, more malicious and more all consuming than Pietro's ever could be. She is the most like her father out of all her siblings in this respect) . Sidenote: it's interesting how Magneto is equally as pivotal to the events of HoM, his actions or refusal to act spurning his children to make the choices they do but is never held accountable for HoM the way they are (and the way the avengers and X-Men - particularly Emma and Wolverine - never are)
I don't think it's wrong to explore the unhealthy ways the twins codependency manifests. Like Pietro's overprotectiveness coming off as controlling even if he has the best intentions but Wanda's vices are never explored in the same way. She is the good twin and he is the bad and that is boring and makes Wanda's character less interesting. It is also dissapointing to see if you are fans of both twins and their siblinghood how marvel disrespects platonic relationships between siblings in particular and family in general.
Like in the argument here - Wanda has seemingly good and Nobel intentions in burning the letter, if we take the writing at face value, she burned the letter as an act of love (so she could for once protect Pietro like he always has done for her countless times - a fact she mentions twice in the same issue mind you - almost like how dare her brother reject her protection and in a way her love) but ultimately she's in the wrong for making a unilateral decision to do so here. What Pietro says about it ultimately being his decision about whether or not to read it and being able to handle harsh words from Magento is correct. It's interestingly when he hints that Wanda might also be trying to uphold the image of "freshly matyred Magneto and her as his matyred daughter" does Wanda truly start getting mad and yelling back, saying what she can to justify herself. She's not just trying to reason about why she did what she did, she's trying to tear him down and hit him where It hurts here. It should make for an interesting argument and a lot of it does, there is a weight here speaking of a long history between these siblings but the problem is a lot of people and the narrative treat Pietro as being primary in the wrong and cheer Wanda for "putting him in his place". Despite him actually putting forward some good points and not actually being as malicious as Wanda was to him with his own comments to her. Wanda wanting to protect her brother is sympathetic but a good argument is where both sides have a point - again Pietro is the one the narrative seems to be angling as more unreasonable or at least a lot of the internet walked away with that impression. Darcy provides a neutral voice to calm Wanda down, she never says anything bad about Pietro but she never overly defends him or calls out what Wanda did either.
I'm not going to get into the whole Pieto being afraid of Wanda (when has that ever been the case before? He's always stood by her at her worst and advocated that she deserved compassion- something she stopped doing for him the minute writers decided to pair her up with male characters), Pietro saying the world would fall down if she flinches and Wanda saying he goaded her to change the world, manipulated her and mocking his death or even victim blaming him for being "cold to Magneto" (though she does acknowledge Magneto's favouritism of her but in usual Orlando fashion refuses to actually say a bad word about Magneto despite mentioning his murder of Pietro three times in the issue). This is stuff the twins of all people would not say to each other. I don't think Orlando really understands their dynamic, has read HoM or his Magneto bias is just too strong. I've rambled enough.
To lead this all back to the codependency thing, I think an interesting toxic trait of Wanda's that is arising here is her tendancy to show this ugly and malicious side of her and to take her frustrations at a lot of things and yell them at her brother because he's the one person that she doesn't have to be completely controlled around and he's the one person that'll always come back to her and who won't leave her like everyone else in her life has. It would be a fascinating thing if it gets explored and called out. I did get the impression when Wanda was destroying her shop that she wasn't just angry at Pietro - she was at what Magneto wrote in that letter and maybe Magneto himself but it was easier to direct all that anger at Pietro untill Darcy calms her down. Truthfully this might just be my headcannon because I don't think Orlando actually wants to really write Wanda and magneto as being in the wrong.
"How many times have you manipulated--have you used me to get what you want?!" is interesting because while I'm no expert on the twins I can't recall that many serious instances of him manipulating her besides house of m (which is probably his most serious offense) but outside of that his worst crime was infantilizing (?) her and breathing down her neck all the time and generally being a dick to everyone or in Wanda's own words:

the shit makes no sense. im going to "spoil" it rn but like. you can't spoil this game. theres no twist theres just a fucked up guy who walks at you. the killer was killerman. you win prize money.
like lets do a quick list of what was good ("good") and what wasnt. most of these are just going to be moments or isolated plot elements
THE BAD:
it wasnt as accidentally funny as their previous games. accidentally funny i mean.
it had the audacity to end with someone picking up the h.h. holmes mask (not a thing that exists btw. no one is making these except like custom on etsy. its so fucking suspicious) like "oooh hes going to do it agaiiiin!" but he got chopped up by a boat propeller. no he isnt
the areas and parts where certain players were "supposed" to die were REALLY telegraphed and detrimental to the pacing of an already artificially bloated plot
why was there a dog that hated the murderer living on the island waiting to bite the shit out of him. whose dog was that. why was there dog. cheap emotional fodder tossed in at the end.
the opening kill is legitimately unpleasant to watch. they forgot that the kills are supposed to be gruesome and not stomach churningly sadistic or remind me of holocaust movies
the characters are genuinely awful and boring people who hate each other. not a single lifeline to be had. even the dog shows up too late for you to establish any kind of friendship
the reason why no one has cell phones is because a guy who is tricking them into taking his place as the murder victims just takes them as part of the "experience". they're a fucking film crew lol. theres no way
i legit thought it was going to end up being a team of people bc he was somehow everywhere at once doing the slow jason walk
instead it's one man, an ex-FBI agent who was abused by his mom and gets talked into doing serial murder by the single lamest serial killer monologue ive ever heard in my life. its just a guy who decided to try something different one day. and then i guess he built a murder hotel after faking his death so he could do more murder. this sucks. i dont care about this.
the plot elements are completely random. the animatronics made out of PEOPLE (they apparently did not get the news that they were beat to this idea by a solid near decade) have nothing to do with anything at all. not h.h. holmes, not murder hotel. they're just there for no reason. they barely even get used.
and they had the audacity to show him MAKING animatronics OF THE 5 FILM CREW MEMBERS after they arrived on the island. this game takes place over the course of one day. he did not do this. there is no way. this game stretches the player's suspension of disbelief too far.
the writing on the mom and the serial killer is pathetic lol. its rough to see evil attempted by people who can only conceptualize it in terms of physical violence

THE "GOOD"
the ending is so bad that its ballsy. it cuts to a news reporter talking about how they are still finding bodies in the hotel where 5 person groups were tricked into staying so that they could be murdered. the ppl watching the report are interrupted by their friend who tells them her viral video won a contest (dog its 2022 lol) and the prize is that 5 of them get to stay in a mysterious hotel owned by a man with the same name as the guy they were just talking about.
then it zooms into the email the girl got telling her that she won and that one image of h.h. holmes is just in the window
did he make the little graphic announcing she has won? did he deliberately include himself? did he not notice somehow that he was in the picture. did he set up a timer and run up to the top floor so he could be very spooky and mysterious
HOW could he POSSIBLY afford another murder house. the invoice for the first one on the private island is IN THE GAME and its an eye popping amount. he does NOT have another house like where is he getting the money? or getting it zoned? or tricking ANOTHER construction team into building death traps that are suspiciously like the ones on the news
theres a part where a woman is stuck in a closet having an anxiety/asthma attack and the scary murder man gives her her inhaler. for some reason. this is never explained
why did he have ultra specific recordings of his mom commenting on what time he arrives and what page of his baby book he looks at. or what time it is.
theres phonographs and creepy music playing everywhere and no one turns them off like "what the fuck!!!" they're just like ooooh no im being menaced SSOOOO much
why was one of the crew members friends with someone who was strangled by "the campus strangler". as far as i can tell this adds nothing to the story, it just freaks her. as the player i dont care bc the the killerman just finds this out somehow and finds a copy of the paper where they used a photo taken of her, her friend and the strangler. guess which one is the strangler:
how could they identify his fake dead body from "dental records". they explicit say this. did he fucking glue a set of teeth into the guys mouth. is he toothless throughout the whole game. is he wearing fake teeth. im laughing just typing this up. what the fuck
he pulled an hh holmes on the construction crew after they built a hh holmes themed murder hotel for him.
the murder counter. why does it exist. how does it know to update.
im now thinking about how funny it is that he put in a 4th digit. get real dude! no WAY
the director being baited into an obvious trap with cigarettes like he was being hunted by wiley e. coyote was insane. my dude you are being murdered. you know you are at this point. why did you go into the room with only one entrance!!

Big fan of your work, and I’m sorry if this comes off as rude but I just wanna info dump or else I’ll go crazy
I still respect your interpretation of fuyupeko but I think it’s debatable those two are as dependent on each other as ppl say
There’s major themes of Fuyuhiko pushing Peko away
1. In the splash art of them growing up, Fuyuhiko is never looking at Peko)
2. In Fuyuhiko’s Island Mode ending, Fuyuhiko explicitly say he needs to stop running away from Peko
3. In Danganronpa S, Fuyuhiko’s first instinct is to brush off Peko but he corrects himself saying he still needs her. In the Peko and Sayaka convo, Sayaka expresses she needs to be independent to not bother her friend, but Peko says her friend is probably happy to be relied on
4. The fact in SDR2, Peko lies about almost everything about herself (she saids she has parents in freetime, she calls Fuyuhiko her childhood friend and negates that in the trial), and the only time she was truly truthful she states that all she wants to be is remembered by Fuyuhiko
5. In Fuyuhiko’s talk with Akane, he states he never told Peko he was grateful for her. And in Peko’s freetime, Peko states as a child, Fuyuhiko would cry and call her scary
I do think Fuyuhiko and Peko’s relationship is strained from Peko being taught she was only a tool but I think it’s also comes from the fact Fuyuhiko never communicates with Peko that he actually likes her as a person. It still hurts me that when they were on a dangerous island where anyone could murder, Fuyuhiko told Peko explicitly not to talk to him, the one person she could trust on the island. Like who can blame Peko for thinking Fuyuhiko resented her.

same as in 3. with trying to distance himself from being too reliant on the family, possibly also being distant by trying to adhere to their roles, more on that later
I remember some of Fuyuhiko's deal being that he doesn't want to rely on the power of his family of everything, and that extends to Peko with her being his protector. I think the fact that he thinks e needs her, but doesn't want to, actually just plays right into my view of them (this one, Fuyuhiko not wanting their relationship to e what it is but admitting that he doesnt know anything else and would be pretty adrift without it).
I didn't know that! That's interesting. My memory might be wrong, but wasn't some of that because Fuyhiko instructed her to keep their affiliation a secret? And since the clan is all she knows, she had to make stuff up?
I could believe that Fuyuhiko never actually thanked Peko for her services, their whole job status being messy as it is. I dont know about that second thing, but I remember something about Fuyuhiko crying because he could sense that Peko was worried / she was trying to reassure him but without smiling or anything, something about them being kidnapped. Still doesnt really negate my view on them, just once again that they wanna be there for each other but somehow just can't.
Ok so, re: that little comic, I guess I should say: I dont think they were that sweet with one another all the time, and in fact kind of want to imply that while they *were* friends as kids, as volatile as kid friendships can be, from that point onwards they did start to grow into their roles and their own seperate ways (for worse). Fuyuhiko being an overly aggressive and angry dickhead a lot of the time, trying to fit into what he thinks he needs to be, and Peko being the 'tool' that she tries to pass as in the trial, actually kind of thinking she knows what's best for Fuyuhiko instead of talking to him one on one as a friend. When I say they were reliant on each other, I dont mean they were emotionally close, I just mean they literally define themselves a bit by the other (the game does this also), because they're not sure what to be otherwise, the other being the only peer they know closely. Like Fuyuhiko says (cries) in the trial, he needs Peko, and Peko is so consumed by her role that she did the whole murder thing.
Fuyuhiko pushing Peko away and Peko refusing to back away makes sense to me in the lens that Fuyuhiko wants Peko to be more than his walking talking sword, and Peko takes her duty seriously/is unwilling to lose the one person she has a connection with. Fuyuhiko is taking dumb clumsy baby steps at not needing Peko there all the time, even though he kind of does, and Peko doesnt see what's wrong with their relationship as is (and therefore thinks she can base a murder unit because she doesnt see how it wouldnt make sense that she doesnt count as a person). Fuyuhiko also absolutely dogshit at communicating and could have avoided a lot of this with some anger management and more thoughtful speaking, but i think part of the tragedy is that neither of them knew any better because what they were doing was all they'd ever been expected to do.
I always understood the whole "dont interact w me" thing to be a, a) a way for both of them to be normal classmates, which would be good for them, and later b) scheme to protect the both of them and give them advantage in the game. I cant say I ever saw it as pure callousness on Fuyuhiko's part- rough and clumsy attempt at being helpful, maybe- and I definitely can't agree with that read. I think maybe Peko could have seen it that way, in being that she wants to be relied on and be useful and that being rejected means she's being rejected, but Fuyuhiko states that people tend to be wary and suspicious of him (for good reason) so however harsh, I think it was always gonna end in Peko's favour, in or outside of game. Whether that was explicitly planned, I dont know- probably not- but I dont think it was just him being a dick.
Anyway! I don't know if this reply makes sense, but I'm not like disagreeing just to disagree! I replied this in-depth bc I was interested in answering lol. This is just what I mean by fundamentally different reads. This is how *I* understood the events based on my own brain translating it, doesnt mean yours is any more right or wrong, just different people processing things differently.

You know what makes me sad right now ? There were -are- lots of reunions i was - am -looking forward to, basically Rick and everyone (even if im sure there will be some major deaths before the end therefore some reunion like aaron /rick or gabe/rick not happening for instance, but thats just speculation)...
But i never expected to have now to long for, after the finale, a caryl reunion. Not after the caryl spin off announcement. We were supposed to see them together on a journey which, why not, might have led them to find some people like Rick, Michonne, Morgan, who knows who. Daryl looking for Rick alone while Carol doesnt care and does not go with him would make no sense. Not for me anyway.
They talk about 3 Rick movies and nothing happens after 3 years. I know covid happened but still...
Then they talk about a caryl spin off and it turns into a daryl one.
I was surprised and not at ease with the idea of a Negan and Maggie spin off but willing to give it a try. But now? Maggie having a spin off with the murderer of Glenn that she despises (even if she "respects" him now somehow) while Carol and Daryl, who actually love each other, end up having none? Whoah... I have no words.
Honestly, they should stop announcing things too early. This is becoming ridiculous.
I never thought the feud between Caryl would last this long, and here we are, with no open hearted discussion between them yet, and we re just supposed to believe it kind of went back to normal . Twd used to be about emotional talks and moments between characters, Tyreese forgiving Carol, Rick acknowledging how much he owes her, Daryl apologizing to Maggie for Glenn, Caryl wonderful talk about what Beth meant to them, Carol and Rick last scene, Rick and Daryl lashing out and making up...
What the hell happened? Why did we have to sufer during find me with no pay off yet, no emotional reconcilliation ? It could still happen, i know. Still 8 eps to go.
But with all the writing choices lately, like Leah who brought literally nothing for me, some characters completely forgotten in 11B (Luke?) , Caryl feud ( again, where is the pay off?) I dont expect much anymore... and i would not be surprised it they actually made Negan and Maggie a couple at this rate during their spin off (and im only half joking...)
Sorry, wasnt supposed to end up in a rant. And its just my feelings, obviously no one has to agree.
Somehow I still trust AMC not to make Negan and Maggie a couple, but as far as everything else goes, you and I are in the exact same headspace, my friend. I'll never understand how we got here.

10 Anti LO Asks
1. I'm not gonna deny that Minthe would be abusive irl, but I think I've figured out why she doesn't feel so to me in LO. Obviously because she's not the only person to slap someone and yet is the only person whose slap isn't played for laughs. But also because of how cheap the drama is in LO ("what's so bad about the slap, people do that all the time in soap operas") and because of the standard for violence being high (Hades carved someone's eye out once and we're pitying him for getting slapped).
2. idk why people say Persephone being nice/kind is bad characterization. That's arguably the only accurate part of LO in terms of myth. the real issue to me is RS and her fans seem to think Persephone has to reject those traits (as well as her nature ways) to instead be a violent, cold hearted capitalist like Hades and co. to be "mature". She was the kind one in the couple! Whats wrong with her staying kind despite all the hardships she's suffered? Why must she become cruel to be taken seriously?
3. homer would hate literally every modern greek myth retelling but LO especially. ya boy adored demeter and would despise what RS did to her story for the sake of a weird DDLG version of a respected couple.
4. That one anon is right, it does seem like RS has lost her passion. No wonder! This story began as a cutesy (well, for some), romance-focused retelling of one myth, and it's clear that that's what RS wants to make, but now she's dug herself deep into those weird convoluted plots that she can't even resolve properly. I'd get sick of writing this too.
5. other anon is right. most of the LO men are boring but ares has no reason being so goddam ugly. why would you do this to him, rachel!!
6. werent most of the ancient greek writers and poets huge misogynists and xenophobes towards any non greeks? they wouldnt just hate LO for what a mockery its made fo their culture and story. theyd hate rachel too for being a non-greek woman. yall cannot claim rachel is better than the poets for "improving" the mythology then claim theyd adore her despite their ancient, regressive ideals. cmon guys, be real here.
7. ok but if rs is seriously lost passion for the project then why wasnt it wrapped up years ago? why not take a month off and work out an ending sooner than later? like if shes seriously so sick of it by now, then why drag everything out and keep adding more plots that will take months/years to get to? other webtoon creators also had popular series like her but ended them when they wanted to & are now making new series. not to be rude, but theres no one to blame for here but herself.
8. you know i would have thought hades using artemis to excuse persephone's actions would have been a perfect chance for persephone to stick up for her and to show for ONCE a female relationship actual meant something in LO, but no, Persephone just sat there and let her supposed "friend" be used to excuse her mass murder. I know people are speculating Artemis will be the next "twist" villain and considering how Persephone is already being shown as not her friend by this point im inclined to agree.
9. im not against the flower nymphs being pink but like ... cant they have different shades of pink at least? like make some dark magenta and some pastel, why do they have to be the EXACT same shade as persephone? how can the comic claim shes the most unique, powerful goddess ever even theres thousands of women who look exactly like her and her powers arent actually that unique?
10. idk to me wouldnt persephone being like 500 makes more sense to why she wants to be independent and free from demeter's house make more sense than a 19 year old? because as it stands persephone just seems like a selfish brat who doesnt care what her mother had to suffer and sacrifice for her, only for everything bad demeter was trying to save her from happening all within two weeks of her being away from home. im not excusing lo demeter's actions but shes the only character who is proven right.

Ty doesn't believe in fate.
A shout out to @ilikebooks8 for convincing me to make a fanfic about autistic!Eleanor Blackthorn. Autism is genetic so it makes sense for Ty to have autistic ancestors. If you are autistic I guarentee you have someone in your family who is also autistic they just haven't been diagnosed yet. For me, I've got my dad.
Cw: mentions of ableism, abuse and the death of a minor character. Very anti Andrew Blackthorn.
"Tell me a story," Tiberius' asked, in that mature, matter- of-fact way he spoke. Ty was only eight but already he sounded like a boy twice his age in terms of his vocabulary and the way he spoke.
Although he still had the voice of a child which was rather amusing. Eleanor turned to face her son with a groan as she felt searing pain shoot through her bones. She had been laying down all day due to feeling extremely unwell. The noises and lights of the outside world were especially brutal, but she had gotten used to it overtime. She had learned to cope. To smile and nod and make eye contact. To control her movements and still her hands and laugh at their jokes.
Eleanor played the part of the proper shadowhunter and the dutiful wife, the attentive mother. It didn't matter that it had changed her. Had completely turned her into a different person, someone harsher and colder. Someone who was so quick to anger and venomous hatred.
Someone who only knew how to be in pain.
She always tried to not let that side of her show to her children. They didn't deserve it. But the past few weeks in particular had been brutal. Her body felt broken and it was becoming harder and harder to put up that facade.
She faced Ty with the best fake smile she could muster. "Which story would you like to hear?" He climbed up on the bed beside her and sat down in an odd twisted position where his legs were in a W position. He began tapping his hands on his knees as he appeared to contemplate his choices.
Eleanor could remember a time when she was younger when she used to do that. Before her parents had stopped her. She knew she should really tell Tiberius off to discourage him from doing these things in public. He was so blatent and open in a way that frightened and almost angered her. There was no telling what kind of reaction The Clave might have.
She didnt want him to end up with the dregs, or worse.
"I don't know," Ty said finally scrunching up his eyebrows. "I can't think of one right now. Could you make one up?" Eleanor smiled in spite of herself. She had always loved making up stories ever since she was a kid. She had always been a creative person, painting and drawing as often as she could. Shadowhunters didn't really appreciate a creative streak.
Eleanor nodded. "Ok sure, let's see." She took a breath, trying to ignore the agony spreading through her back and shoulders. "Once upon a time there was a prince who was trapped in a tower that was guarded by an evil ogar. The prince had been rumored to have special powers so he was forced by his parents to stay locked away in the tower forever to keep him safe. He wasnt allowed to make friends with any other children so he grew up alone. Teaching himself how to read and write and playing games to amuse himself."
Ty rolled his eyes. "Isn't that rather cliche? The whole prince trapped in a tower story? I've definitely heard that before."
Eleanor laughed. "Where did you hear the word cliche Tiberius?" Ty shrugged, not seeing the amusement in the situation.
"It was in a book. Can you keep going?" He whined impatiently. "I wanna hear the rest."
Eleanor sighed, shaking her head good naturedly. "Alright then. So the prince was trapped for a very long time. Then one day a mysterious adventurer came exploring nearby the tower."
"Can it be a detective?" Ty interrupted, bouncing up and down. He had been obsessed with Clue lately.
"Alright sure, it was a detective. He was searching the answers to a murder mystery. The murder of a young women." Ty instantly looked interested. Perhaps murder was not the best subject for a story being told to an eight year old, but Ty was a shadowhunter. They were trained to deal with blood and death.
"His was searching for information and came across the tower," she continued. So he decided to investigate. He snuck passed the ogar and into the tower, where he was ambushed by the prince!"
Ty gasped excitedly, wriggling in place. "What happened next? Did they fight?"
Eleanor opened her mouth to continue, but then the bedroom door flew open, startling them both.
It was Andrew. Instantly Ty shrunk himself down, hunching his shoulders. Eleanor knew that Ty didn't always get along with his father but she knew Andrew still loved him deep down. He glared at them both.
"Ty your mother is meant to be resting," he said pointedly.
Eleanor shook her head. "Oh no it's alright. He wasn't bothering me." Andrew didn't seem to hear her.
"Tiberius let's go," he said harshly. Ty hesitated for a moment, looking up at her.
"But I wanna hear the rest of the story!" He protested. "I wanna know what happens to the prince!" Eleanor sighed solemnly. She didn't want to disappoint Ty, but she was feeling pretty worn out.
"Another time baby," she assured him. "I promise."
But unfortunately she never got the chance. She never got the chance because little did they know, Eleanor Blackthorn had cancer. Something that silent brothers couldn't cure. Something that shadowhunters were powerless against.
"What are you thinking about ?" Kit murmered from his spot curled up against Ty's chest. His breath tickled Ty's chin.
Ty paused, not quite sure how to answer. They were lying on the roof of the LA institute again. It was their special spot. Kit had suggested a night of star gazing for a date since the weather was nice.
Things has been a little weird between them lately. Kit had been pretending that everything was fine and he was unfazed, but Ty could tell that something was bothering him. And he had a feeling he knew what it was.
At Magnus and Alec's anniversary party, Jace made a joke about how Kit and Ty would probably be the next ones to get married and Ty immediately went into a blind panic. He completely froze up at the mention of marriage. At the mention of him getting married. His body instantly went into a complete overload almost as if he was on the verge of a meltdown.
He didn't take the time to think about any of it. He just snapped and yelled that he wasn't getting married. That he wasn't ever getting married. Ty wasnt even sure where it came from. Kit was pretending like it wasnt a big deal but Ty knew he was hurting. He could tell.
Ty traced a pattern across Kit's arm. "Honestly it was nothing," he assured him. "I just-." Ty stared at Kit, studying his face. The curve of his lips, the adorable blush of his cheeks and the tiny beauty mark under his eye that Ty loved to fixate on. Everything ached, but it was a good kind of ache.
Ty loved him.
"I just want to stay like this forever," he murmered. "Here with you, where I feel safe and warm. And loved." Ty nuzzled his nose against Kit's. "I want to be with you forever."
Kit smiled distantly before breaking into a slight frown. "Then why don't you wanna marry me?" He asked sadly. And Ty could instantly hear the old ghosts of self loathing and insecurity still haunting Kit's thoughts.
Ty sighed. "It has nothing to do with you I promise. I just really don't want to get married and I'm not even fully certain of why exactly."
Kit stroked his cheek slowly. "Is it the idea of a big wedding? Because we don't have to do that you know. We can totally just skip it," he said assuredly.
Ty shook his head. "That's part of it but it isn't the only reason." He paused to contemplate what exactly it was that was making him feel this way, feel so afraid.
Strangely enough, Ty kept coming back to his mother. His mother who was always a little peculiar in private. Who always seemed sad and exhausted even before the silent brothers diagnosed her. Who was constantly going along with whatever her husband wanted for whatever reason. Because she assumed he knew what he was doing? Because she didn't want to make waves in a society so rigid and obsessed with conformity?
Ty had been considering it more and more lately.
He sat up, displacing Kit from where he was resting. "I think my mother was like me," Ty admitted in a shakey voice. "I think she was autistic and that's why she ended up in the situations she did."
"Ok?" Kit looked confused. "But that still doesn't explain-."
Ty interrupted him. "She was trying so hard to fit in and do the right thing and she would just let him control her. She kept compromising for him because she thought that's what she was supposed to do and also because despite it all I think she really loved him! And it made her so stupid!" Ty shouted.
"I just don't want to become trapped like that," he confessed.
Kit was silent for a moment, just staring at him with a puzzled expression. "Ok, but Ty you realize that I'm not your dad right? Like I would never try and control you or make you into something you're not. I'm not trying to own you, I'm trying to love you!" He argued. "Ty, marriage isnt supposed to trap you. It's about making our relationship into an Offical legal thing that everyone's forced to acknowledge and accept."
Kit took Ty's hand in his. "It's about making each other family."
Ty looked away. He couldn't meet Kit's eyes when he was staring at him looking so hopeful and desperate. It did strange things to Ty's insides. He squeezed his eyes shut, scrunching up his face along with his fists for a moment before letting go.
"I just don't want to let someone have power over me in that way," he explained. Kit sighed, then smiled softly before leaning forward to rest his forehead against Ty's. Ty let out a little moan as he let the tension release from his body with a sigh. Kit placed his hand over Ty's heart.
"But don't you get it Ty?" He asked softly. "You already have, whether you meant to or not. I'm in your system sweetheart, in your blood just like you're in mine." Ty felt him smile. "Like we were made for each other. Like we've spent our entire lives waiting for each other."
Ty pulled away from him. "No I don't believe that," he stated firmly. "I don't believe in fate or destiny or soulmates. I think it's an overt romanticization of life and the human condition which can have disastrous consequences. It leads people to believe that they are somehow incomplete without a romantic partner which is incredibly problematic." Ty realized he was probably going on a bit of a tangent as he was known to do. But he couldn't be bothered to care.
Kit pouted a little. "Yeah I get that. But I don't know. I like to romanticize things in life. After everything that I've been through, I guess it just makes things feel better you know?" Kit glanced at him hopefully."I don't care if you don't believe in any of those things. I do. And despite what you might believe, you aren't always right about everything," Kit said pointedly.
Ty scowled at him. Kit was undeterred. "And I get that you're coming at this from a scary trauma place. I understand that. I have those too. But you don't have to be afraid of me," he pleaded.
Ty couldn't resist reaching out and touching him, pushing a curly lock of hair behind his ear. "Can I maybe think about it?" Kit smiled and snuggled up against Ty's chest again. "Of course," he murmered. Ty leaned back and resumed his earlier position, staring up at the sky.
He nuzzled his face against Kit's hair. "I'm glad you're not mad at me anymore," said Ty.
Kit snorted, turning to face Ty. "I'm never mad at you love. It's pretty much impossible." Ty grinned and leaned forward to kiss him slowly, savoring the feeling of Kit's lips against his.
Kit broke off and kissed Ty's cheek, then his orbital bone. Ty giggled and closed his eyes which prompted Kit to place a kiss on each of his eyelids.
"I love every inch of you," Kit whispered. Ty couldn't speak. He was too overwhelmed. He just wrapped his arms around Kit even tighter and pressed a kiss to his forehead.
They lay in peaceful silence for several moments before Kit spoke.
"Tell me a story."
In case you missed it, the story Eleanor was telling Ty is the story of kitty in Lady Midnight basically. Also. Not me projecting my fear of marriage onto my comfort character! 😂

"Sergeant Hank Voight"? You knocked on the door of his office, getting his attention.
"Detective Y/L/N, come in". He waved you in and you closed the door.
"Its a pleasure meeting you, Sergeant Voight".
"It's a pleasure meeting you as well. I've heard alot about you".
"Great things, I hope"?
"Very much. Your old boss said you were the star pupil of your department".
"I dont know about that. I just like helping people and getting to take down the bad guys". You laughed, pushing a strand of hair behind your ear.
"Then you'll fit in perfect here. Lets go meet the others and we'll get started". He opened the door and let you go out first.
"You can take the desk in front of Halstead. Get comfy". Voight chuckled.
"Alright, listen up. We have a new addition to the until. This is detective Y/N Y/L/N. She's Jay's new partner". Voight looked at Jay, who was sipping his coffee.
"Oh. Hi. I'm Jay". He held out your hand and you gladly shook it.
"Nice to meet you. Cant wait to work with you". You smiled.
"Great. Now that we're all introduced. Let's get to work. Antonio, you wanna tell us about this case"? Hank asked, sitting on the edge of Jay's desk.
"Cole Dickens. He is a known serial killer that escaped from upstate about two weeks ago. He was spotted in Chicago a few hours ago at the train station. But when the cops went to apprehend him, he shot one and ran. Disappeared. The security cameras caught him getting into a cab. We've contacted the cab company and found out where he was dropped. Theres a patrol car sitting on the house".
"Why dont we move in and grab him up"? You asked, getting looks from the others.
"We're not moving in until we can confirm he's in there. The house could be rigged. Not losing another body to him". Voight ordered.
You nodded with a gulp. "I'll be right back". You held up your phone and went into the breakroom.
"He's here". You told the voice on the other end. The phone started to shake in your hand.
"Leave. Get out now". They told you and you ended the phone call. Opening the door, the team looked at you with betrayal.
"First day and you lied". Voight sounded hurt.
"I had too. If I would've told it could put you all in danger".
"But you're FBI. You're untouchable". Adam spoke up from the back.
"No one is untouchable when it comes to Dickens. He had my partner, murdered him in front of his family. His two year old daughter saw his throat being cut. I'm supposed to testify against him next month but when he escaped I was sent here. But he's here I need to leave".
"You could've just told us. We would've protected you". Jay said coming over to you.
"I couldnt tell you. I'm not even supposed to be discussing the case with anyone, let alone working it".
"Alright, this is what's going to happen. Jay, you're to take Y/N home with you and watch over her. Antonio, take Kim and go to the house. I'll be there in a minute. Kevin, Adam you two go watch over Jay's place". Voight gave his orders and they all listened without hesitation.
"Come on and I'll get you home". Jay said as he grabbed his gun from the desk drawer.
"I have to grab my bag from the locker room". You told Jay as you ran off to the locker room.
Opening the locker room door, you went straight to your locker and grabbed your bag. Closing the door you felt a hand go over you mouth and a sickening smell and it all went black.
"Jay, why havent you left yet"? Hank came out of his office, putting his gun in his holster.
"Waiting on Y/N, shes getting her bag from the locker room".
"Have you checked on her"? Voight shook his head and they both took off to the locker room. There was scuff marks on the floor from your shoes. Your bag on the ground.
"You had one job, Halstead". Voight growled and ran outside to see if they could catch up with you and your kidnappers.
When they got outside they didn't see any vehicle out of the ordinary.
"Put a APB out. A FBI kidnapped with a known serial killer. Damn it". Hank ordered Jay.
Jay panicked and grabbed his phone. This was all his fault.
"Agent Y/L/N? Wakey wakey"? You could hear a voice shaking you. Something wet dripping down your face.
"Where am I"? You groaned, your head spinning.
"You're just hanging out with a old pal". He laughed.
"Why are you doing this? You know every cop is looking for you in Chicago". You blinked your eyes the man coming clearer and clearer.
"But they arent the ones I want to see. Now, Agent Y/L/N or should I call you detective"?
"Just tell me what you want or just kill me".
"No. That's giving into early. I want to make you suffer. You should have kept your big mouth shut and nothing would have happened to you".
"You killed my partner in front of his family. You've murdered dozens of people. You should be in a chair right now getting thousands of volts passed through your body". You screamed at him. He stood back and laughed.
"Now that wasnt so nice".
"Untie me and I'll show you nice". You gritted your teeth .
"Feisty. I like it. Show me what you got". He pulled out a knife and cut the rope. You rubbed your wrist as he twirled around the building.
Gulping you ran after him, jumping onto his back and wrapping your arm around his throat. Squeezing tight.
He roughly bent over and threw you to the floor, letting out a cough.
You hit the ground with a thump, knocking the breath out of you. Took you a minute to breath and get back to your feet. Then you went after him again and kneed him in the groin. He stumbled back and drew his knife.
"I'll going to do what I should've done a long time ago". He charged at you and the gunshots rang out. He stopped dead in his tracks and fell to the ground.
"Are you okay"? Jay came rushing to your side. Looking you over.
"I'm fine. How did you find me"?
"We got the FBI to track your phone. Which lead us here". Voight came over.
"Great timing". You laughed.
"Let's get you checked over. Your captain is on his way".
After you were checked over by the Paramedic, you had a talk with your boss. He had a hard question for you.
"Come back to work with me".
You looked at the team that had your back when they didn't know you and you betrayed their trust. They cared for you and protected you. Then you looked at your boss, he's been there but always had excuses. He sent you away.
"I think I'm going to stay, sir".
"There will always be a job waiting for you if this doesnt work out". He shook your hand and left. Jay saw and came over.
"You alright"?
"Yeah. Just some scrapes and bruises. Nothing a hot shower and a good nights sleep cant take care of". You chuckled.
"So you leaving"? Jay asked biting his lip.
"No. I'm staying. Going to give Chicago a try. See what kind of trouble I can get into". Jay laughed.
"Good. So um, you wanna go get some coffee? I can show you some nice places for rent".
"Yeah, I'd like that. Thanks". You smiled and walked with Jay to his car. Maybe having a serial killer follow you wasnt such a bad thing after all.

Soulmate marathon part 1
You share your soulmates knowledge
Character: Eyeless Jack
At this point, you knew your soulmate was in the medical field or at least going to school for it. All the things he knows about the human body, how to cut, sew, implant. He had to be getting along in school just fine.
With your soulmate being so far along in school and knowing as much as he did, he was dedicated to the craft and was likely on track to become a surgeon if not a nurse.
That was.... before the knowledge that popped into your brain every day turned a bit darker. It worried you. Yeah, he was obviously in medical school, or maybe he’s graduated and working as a nurse... but the things you know about how certain organs taste.... raw....well, it left little wonder as to why you had stopped eating red meat.
You fear your soulmate to be an angel of death or something of the sort. A kind nurse that says they’ll do everything they can to help only to come in the night and give an overdose of painkillers to a patient that didnt even need them. But that wouldnt explain the blantant canibalism.
Of course medical knowledge also somehow gave way to deeper and deeper occult knowledge. Things you honestly couldnt understand yourself, but your soulmate seemingly could without a problem. Knowledge of things that werent human. Some that used to be human, others that never were and never will be.
All this led to some rather interesting research on your side. Research of the creatures that he seemingly knew. Research that narrowed your search down to a region of states that would be smart to avoid.... but youre his soulmate. He wouldnt hurt you, right? Not on purpose hopefully. Besides, it seemed you were already living in the region that would be prime for running into him.
Of course, you knew he was also aware of your findings. He knows youre doing research. Trying to find him. He was probably doing the same, hopefully not to do anything malicious... of course as his soulmate you trusted him not to hurt you, but going into this as blind as you were, you trusted nothing but yourself and what you knew. No matter how much you wanted to trust him blindly.
All your research eventually leads you to believe that he could be in two different kinds of places. An abandoned building or the woods. Abandoned buildings were suprisingly few and far between from what you could find, your searches on those having come up mostly fruitless with the few that had potential coming up empty or seemingly taken up by squaters that you had no desire to speak to directly, in fear of a fight.
That left you with the woods. It had been a last resort kind of thing for you as the woods were ridiculously well known for being the worst place a person could go, no matter the time of day. Locals would avoid going too deep. The walking trails never being strayed from as the last group of wild teens that had attempted to do so on a dare had disappeared. Searches yeilded nothing, and those had been tedious as even authorites were on edge to go too deep into the trees. 
Rumors of monsters, demons, killers and ghosts... it was almost positively the place he would be. You had just hoped you wouldnt end up having to go in.
Which is why you sit on a park bench, eyes on the treeline as you contemplate your choices. You could walk for a bit, but it still isnt guaranteed that you would be okay. Only groups ever turned out okay, and the less people in the group the lower the success rate of coming back it seemed, so your measly party of one wouldnt make the cut if your luck was still the same.
Not to mention the fog seemingly pouring out of the trees had your hair standing on end with a deep emptiness in your gut. Whatever controlled that forest didnt want you in it, that much was very clear, and you were more than happy to listen to it. Having done the math, you only had another hour or two of sunlight, the sun setting earlier around this time of year and night lasting longer. Just fine by you, but not the best time to get lost in the woods and murdered by a monster.
You were too wrapped up in your thoughts to notice as a man approched your bench. Taking a seat on the opposite end so that there was still as much space as possible, but making it very clear that he sat next to you on purpose. Your gaze snaps from the trees to him, sizing him up and taking him in.
He was big, very big. You dont see a lot of people that tall, regardless of gender, seven feet being pretty ridiculous given what you’d grown up around. Needless to say, from his height alone, you wouldnt be able to take him. His face was obscured by a hood over his head, dark ginger hair peeking out from under the blue fabric. He sat hunched, keeping his head tilted slightly away from you, he spoke before you could.
“What are you here for?”
The question simple, your answer was too. That doesnt mean you knew how to make it simple, especially since you were almost positive you were currently talking to a serial killer.
“Lots of research led me here. Couldnt have found it without my soulmate though... hey, you wouldnt happen to know any organ eating medical nerds would you?”
With his silence you assume you had said the wrong thing, sealing your fate as the next victim of the woods regardless of the fact that you hadnt even step foot in it yet, only to find that he had tilted his head in your direction. Blue mask peaking out from under his hood, you knew for a fact that you are facing a horror from the trees.
“I do happen to know one, but before that topic can go much further I’m gonna have to ask just exactly how you feel about that.”
His words seemingly chosen carefully. This was your test, all you had to do was not fail it seemed. What the right answers were though, well you suppose you’d just have to be honest.
“Well.... I was pretty scared at first. I thought he was just going to be a medical student. Be a doctor some day... but then the cult stuff happened. He started to know things about demons and monsters and he knew what raw organs tasted like... I was scared... but I decided that I could try. He’s my soulmate, so the least I could do was try. Find him. Figure him out. Give him a chance. Maybe it could be explained away, but I knew that wasnt very likely, just a stupid thought from the kinder side of my brain. Ive known for some time that my soulmate was a killer, to some extent, and now I just want to try. For us.”
You looked over at him after you finished rambling. He appeared unmoved by your words. Having not said a thing or even adjusted himself in his seat, still as a statue. Appearing to contemplate your words, he finally sighs before standing to his full height. Staring down at you from behind his mask where it appeared his eyes were black pits of darkness.
“Well then, soulmate, I guess my chance starts now. If youre still willing, that is.”

Is the HPSC really that corrupt? I mean it's pretty normal to take out someone who is a threat to society. Someone plans on causing chaos and potentially taking the lives of innocents and causing mass destruction? Well let's just allow them to continue because that's such a stable society isn't it? Taking action against these people is what makes a society stable.
Kind of the same reason why I get second hand embarrassment when people try to justify the league and say that hawks wasnt justified in killing twice. Shame on hawks for not allowing a terrorist to commit mass murder. How dare he? It's so stupid I feel like the fandom blows the issues of their hero society widely out of proportion.
Oh toga had to suppress urges and not kill people? Poor kid. Oh no she did try killing some innocent classmate? Damn she must have been so scared as she stuck a knife in the guys throat and enjoyed every second of it. Dabi killed 30 innocent people with no relation to his abuse? What a victim. Shame on the innocents they kill and the heroes who are trying to protect those innocents.
In a stable society, if a terrorist is threatening to blow up a building that would involve innocents, any person with authority would be expected to shoot the guy before he does it instead of listening to their sob story.
To me, the HPSC does a good job at upholding their society and it isnt that god forsaken or shocking that they get rid of threats.
People just want another reason to make themselves look smart while they're hell bent on their villains being justifiable. They're full of malice and the only thing wrong with hero society is that they cant kill villains.
How many people would be alive if shigaraki, dabi, toga and gigantomachia were killed? At this point they deserve the death penalty regardless.
Hero society isnt corrupt and neither is the HPSC, people are just overthinking it.
You're forgetting it was the HPSC that sent children to war - which the heroes that knew about it didn't like it ‐ and had them thinking they were going on a school field trip.
Even if some of them played a big role in the raid - like Momo's drug taking down Machia or the group that fought Shigaraki - it's still not right morally to send a child to war. Especially without them knowing it. Denki and Komori's reaction to when they arrived on the front lines showed they were unprepared mentally.
Not to mention everything they saw - some saw their teacher's dead body - which is a lot for an adult but especially for people their age. Adults were quitting their careers from how traumatic it was. Imagine what it was like for the students (just take Ochakou's reaction).
The HPSC is corrupt, Hawks and Lady Nagant were recruited when they were children to do the HPSC's dirty work. Hawks was even told - as a child - the training would be intense.
So we can only assume the same applied to Lady Nagant. Let's not forget the photo at the end credits of season four that gave us a hint of what his training was like.
Let's look at the HPSC's methods to solve problems versus Midoriya and Hawks. The HPSC saw someone as a threat and decided to take them out immediately. Midoriya sees people - who are currently threats - and decides to give them a chance at redemption. If they refuse? He takes them down.
Same applies to Hawks. Hawks knew Twice was a threat, but gave him the opportunity of redemption. Which Twice refused yet Hawks still tries to take him in alive until he was driven to the last resort to kill him.
The HPSC did not give people the chance of redemption. Which is completely unheroic and hypocritical considering they're supposed to represent heroes. They even used people as tools and that is morally wrong on so many levels.
Notice how it's the HPSC that collapsed and the heroes I just named who are still standing. Hawks wants a peaceful society. A world where people don't feel the need to become villains. He strives to achieve that. Midoriya understands the world is very grey. Which is why he reaches to those in need.
You're also mixing real world values with a hero society. Heroes are meant to capture and bring villains in alive, they're not assassins. Lady Nagant was a special case because heroes are not normally trained to be assassins.
The HPSC knew that considering her missions were secret. Death is only a last resort if the threat is too dangerous.

Naruto Manga Part 2
Part 1
So i have just read some really old and great posts about NH development in part 1 of the Naruto Manga. Also regarding why ns was never intended as the end pairing for Naruto and an in depth analysis regarding these topics. Unfortunetly the OP stopped posting so i decided to continue into part 2. Links to the other parts from that OP at the end of this post.
Sakura is slightly attracted to Naruto’s new appearence now that hes older and grew up a bit. Naruto is completely oblivious to this and Jiraiya comments on how he still doesn’t understand women. This also kind off explains a part of why he’s unaware of the meaning of Hinata’s constant blushing around him since he literally doesnt understand the concept of flirting or when a girl shows interest in him. This has to do with his neglected past as a child.
Wow would you look at that! Sakura actually thought Naruto was becoming amazing. No but we all know Sakura likes mature and serious guys, thats one of the reasons she likes Sasuke so much also his looks. But Naruto is Naruto, hes still a kid at this point in the manga. So thus Naruto hasnt changed like Sakura had hoped.
Aaaand all that gets ruined by this. Of course kishi’s just stating what he always has regarding ns. That its not serious and its just comedic relief. Altough punching someone who has just returned home after 2 and a half years isnt exactly what i would consider COMEDY.
Once again this shows that Sakura cant stand Naruto’s behaviour and personality. Also proves that Sakura would never ever ”love” Naruto romantically for who he is. He is just not her type, as simple as that. And do you honestly think Naruto is enjoying himself here? I dont know just the whole idea that Naruto would ”love” someone that treats him like this just feels so weird. Now of course he doesn’t and its just a shallow crush that never grew beyond that. Actually it was fading.
Naruto is impressed with Sakura’s new strength. But notice how he says he should stop playing around in front of her or she could murder him? Doesn’t sound very romantic. Also we know from part 1 that Naruto is desperate for attention. He plays around in front of her and acts dumb because atleast he is not being ignored. This is basically stated by Mizuki in chapter 1. He was desperate for acknowledgement, it didn’t matter who it was. Some of those behaviours lived on through shipudden.
Here Naruto assumes that Shikamaru and Temari is on a date for the shallow reason of them just walking next to each other. Again Naruto is just acting childish nothing new here. Hes also stoked to see Shikamaru of course. Notice how no character takes Naruto saying on a date ”too” seriously. No character that knew them from before takes NS seriously since they know there is nothing going on. Also all of this is just comedic relief anyway no reason to take this or Naruto seriously.
And that concludes part 1 of this. Let me know if you liked this and wanna see me continue through the whole of part 2. Regardless im probably gonna try to do it anyway. Im new to tumblr and became a Naruto fan just this October so i wasnt around when Naruto was still running. I was just shocked at NaruSaku’s claims as i didn’t see it like that at all and thought it was obvious that NH was gonna happen since episode 1.

can you explain the story with noriko- I mean is this her first death...or? I don't quite get it
its funny, that one is def the most vague of them all, and the first time i read it i was like 'its 1am and my brain is incapable of analyzing media more complex than steven universe these days, im gonna need to give this one a minute' BUT I THINK I GOT IT re-reading it this morning. so heres my book report professor
it definitely wasnt her first death! noriko is at least. . ... . in the comics shes gotta be at least 2000 but probably way more. im p sure -off the top of my head- that she and andy met around 600AD and andy dreamed of her for at least centuries before that. and this story takes place in 1200AD so its not her first death
but anyways the entire thing seems to revolve around, like, who has the right to decide who lives and who dies
thats kind of explored through the Guy (i called him the shogun in my last post but i dont think he ended up a shogun, hes just a regular samurai, so ill call him the samurai from now on) trimming what looks like a bonsai tree. each little twig cut off could have grown into a 'beautiful blossom' but didnt, because he cut them off. this is directly compared to him killing people as a samurai with a big list of all those murdered people shown alongside bonsai twigs
what i didnt quite get is you see ded!noriko repeatedly among all the men he killed?
my assumption is the big list of dead people/twigs is supposed to represent both the people the samurai killed and the people noriko killed. she keeps being shown dead because she keeps being killed and reviving, but the people he(the samurai)/she(noriko) killed die once and never get back up again
which that list is then followed by the dialogue
which is obviously as a reference to noriko/the immortals. they havent died for a reason, god hasnt struck them down, so clearly theyre either doing something right or The Divine doesnt care what they do. this idea is actually mirrored in booker's story
yay for accidental booker-noriko parallels
anyways next you see noriko standing behind the samurai in the present day ('present day' meaning the time era the comic started in, where the samurai is an old man). thru admitting his tree is no longer "for me to tend, if it ever was" he basically tells noriko hes alright with dying. though he asks her, "but i wonder... who are you to make this choice?" reflecting that he, before, probably had no right to strike down all those people that he did-- his only permission to do so was that he was lucky enough not to get killed young, and the gods never intervened in his life.
noriko responds 'i am called noriko'. and then she kills him.
which.... for noriko, 'i am noriko' is enough of an excuse. she is immortal. she has not died yet. no greater power has stopped her, and, as a matter of fact, has allowed her to keep existing despite the natural order of things.
in noriko's mind, this is enough 'permission' to kill whoever she likes. which is something of a foreboding reference to her mindset in Force Multiplied, which (i havent read it) more or less seems to be that immortals are superior than mortals and shouldnt be serving them the way the squad does
i rlly like how the two stories seem to more or less touch on the same subject. 'god(s) havent intervened in our lives. what does that mean?' booker comes to the conclusion that the lack of divine intervention means theres no grand design (and yet his actions result in very specific later consequences for him and the squad). noriko decides that the lack of divine intervention means she is the grand design. she decides what happens to who, and when (and she ends up taking a very long, relaxing dip in the pool for her crimes. one could argue that her brief period of feralness post-ocean is an attempt to reclaim control over her life, when for so long she believed she was the control)
