Talking more about this because I was watching The Moomins (1990s) and kept on almost crying whenever Moominmamma talked in the Invisible Child episodes since she is so sweet to Ninny, and it just made me more frustrated about authors' attitudes towards mothers.

Lore Olympus was the one who made me realize this about modern feminist greek myth retellings.

Demeter falls into both categories of rewritten just to be villainized and scorned for being a decent/good mother. She essentially made what was a paradise for nymphs and tried to keep them safe from gods like Zeus, was nervous about letting Persephone go to college in Olympus but still let her anyway, under supervision of people she could trust, and genuinely seemed to love and care for Persephone, but all of these things are ignored.

We find out that she was going to be Queen of The Mortal Realm, everyone else voted for her except for Hades, who begged Zeus to change his vote (which wouldn't even matter since the majority voted for her, but for some reason that doesn't matter) all because he didn't want to lose his volcanoes, which aren't even his to begin with, they are Hephaestus' and it is wild not to have him have volcanoes as his domain. Hades also insults Demeter's appearance when she rightfully confronts him about this, so there's that, too. Instead of having the reason why Hades brought up volcanoes as his reason why Demeter shouldn't be Queen of The Mortal Realm be that it would complicate things considering Hephaestus, it makes it so volcanoes are actually Hades' domain and was given them by his mother, for some reason??? We also find out that Zeus promised Demeter that she'd be his wife, and having sex with her, he decides to ditch her for Hera, who becomes his wife. Instead of being sympathetic, we get a whole monologue from Hera how she doesn't care about what Zeus did to Demeter and that she deserves to be Queen since she did so much during the war. During the Trial Arc, when Persephone is tried for killing a whole city of mortals in an Act of Wrath, Demeter receives the harsher punishment, which is to live 10 years as a mortal, meanwhile Persephone is sent to go back to work as Goddess of Spring as she has always been back home at her mother's nymph sanctuary, but we are supposed to believe and are urged to believe by the author that Persephone recieved the harsher punishment because she's away from Hades. In fact, Persephone's first thought when banished is not concern for her mother, but her wanting to be with Hades. During her punishment, instead of trying to communicate with her mother, she tries to communicate with Hades. After her punishment, instead of going to her mother to see if she is alright, I am not kidding, she cuddles with Hades and goes, "It feels like I'm missing something." Cut to the next panel later, Demeter waking up from the horrors. We are not supposed to sympathize with Demeter, according to how the author writes how Demeter is treated. When Demeter gained sympathy from the audience, Demeter was made to have a whole intervention to shame Persephone into returning back to maidenhood and the nymph sanctuary, an attempt to reverse the sympathy for her. At the same episode, after Persephone had told Hades that she wanted to wait and enjoy things as her own individual person, Hades shows up, proposes to Persephone, and takes her away.

Opposed to Demeter, the readers are supposed to believe that Hera is a more fitting mother figure for Persephone, despite Hera calling Minthe "nymph trash" (it is okay to not like someone as a person, but to bring up their race in an insult is just her straight up being a racist), insulting her own child daughter and making her make her alcoholic drinks, starts of as rightfully scolding Hades for being a creep for going after Persephone and knows that she is too young for Hades but then goes along with it after she realizes that Hades hasn't been married yet, completely ignoring Persephone's safety in favor of Hades, has a strained relationship with all of her children and does not go to see them after not having seen them for 10 years, instead goes to see Persephone first thing.

The story tries very hard to create conflict between Demeter and Persephone, even randomly adding in a mother-daughter heated argument. And what was the argument about that it got to the point of them screaming at each other? Persephone didn't like commuting for college, which 85% of college students already do with no problem. This is supposed to be a very tense scene, by the way.

Instead of addressing the real issues, it blames everything on Demeter's upbringing during the Titanomachy.

For Demeter's flaws, Demeter makes Persephone join a group of eternal virgins consisting of Hestia, Athena, and Artemis, and the story tries to paint it as a critique of purity culture, despite barely touching the subject at all and uses a very Christian idea of virginity, rather than how the Ancient Greeks viewed virginity. Demeter pushed Persephone to compete in many subjects as a young child, but this isn't to be trusted as Persephone has a very inconsistent recollection of her upbringing, and it changes depending on who she is talking to and what emotion is expected from who she is talking to and the reader; according to the story, Persephone is either the burdened golden child who has been pushed to be the best at everything and has traveled to Olympus many times or is just a naive farm girl who has never been to Olympus before or even seen a man before. A trait that is too similar to The Joker, who is also very inconsistent about his backstory and picks one, depending on who he is talking to.

Demeter isn't the only mother Lore Olympus chose to misrepresent and villainize (Hera counts as misrepresented heavily, but she is not villainized like the other mothers, instead her bad traits are praised).

Thetis is no longer the adoptive mother of Hephaestus in Lore Olympus and seems to have no relationship at all with him. Instead, she is Zeus' secretary and one of the women he frequently has an affair with, despite being one of the only women he strictly wanted no romantic or sexual involvement with in the myths. She is turned into a toxic friend who is willing to ruin her friends' relationships instead of a kind figure who cares for those in need. She seems to have little love for Achilles when he is born, being disgusted by the fact that he is mortal, but is tolerant of him because he is good at stuff.

Leto is no longer the titan goddess of motherhood, childbirth, modesty, and the kindest out of the gods, but another sun god who is an antagonist in the story. At first, she is unaware that Persephone does not like Apollo, and when she finds out, she opts out of trying to get them married, but in a poor attempt at having conflict, turns out she was helping Apollo all along to overthrow Zeus and marry Persephone. She prefers Apollo over Artemis, scolding Artemis more than she scolds Apollo.

In the myths, Nyx was a mother that Zeus was very afraid of, threatening him in return after he threatened to punish Hypnos, which caused Zeus to back out on his punishment. But in Lore Olympus, she ditched Thanatos when he was a child because he wasn't interesting enough for her. She dumps Thanatos on Hades, who adopts him, and their father-son relationship is revealed in a courtroom full of people as Hades scolds Thanatos, saying that he gave him his job (despite Thanatos being the god of peaceful death and was going to get the job anyways) that he put clothes on his back, and that he should be grateful that he took him in after his mother abandoned him. After people pointed out this was borderline abuse on Hades' end, the author wrote Hades giving Thanatos a very poor apology, saying that he was afraid, so that's why he was a terrible father. By the way, in multiple instances, Hades fantasies about starting a family with Persephone, acting as if that would be his first time being a father, with Thanatos nowhere in sight or mind.

I've been starting to realize that a lot of modern greek myth retellings that proudly claim about how feminist they are, have a weird and strong hatred towards mothers, either doing everything in their power to completely rewrite them so they are a bad person, or not change their actions or character but just scorn them for being an either decent or good mother. I need to start a list soon that I will present to everyone while losing my mind.

I finished dragon quest v (on dragon quest day no less😁)

Spoilers ahead! (And if you plan on playing this game i wouldn't read any further lol)

Usually im quite the contrarion but honestly i can agree with anyone who says that 5 is the best game in the series, its the most emotional, has the highest stakes, definitely the most fun, etc.

While the game took me almost 63 hours to finish it sure as hell didnt feel like 63 hours (except for my massive casino grinds they felt and were long but thats my own fault)

The story of this game is so gripping, I barely knew anything going in except for pankraz dying and and i only knew that he died but no context... and him laying there and being killed just to save his son was hard to watch. Spending the rest of the game being reminded of pankraz every now and again was touching and everyone telling you that you need to save your mother only to have her be killed in front of you after you meet her once and barely get to speak to her was so chilling... Ladja and nimzo are 2 of the if not the most gruesome and heartless villians in dragon quest.

One moment i really want to mention is my entry to gotha, i knew that thats where i was headed but the in-game time was that sorta early morning moment where everything sorta has this dim blue light to it and it was really touching to me... the dawn of a new day and the rise of a new king of gotha

It sorta shocked me in the end that the player wasnt the legendary hero... but it was his son. You find that out when you cant wield the zenithian sword but it left me asking if the player was the hero but was too young to wear/use the zenithian gear and all i wanted was to use the zenithian gear like in 4 and 6... but no, your son is the hero. Which was cool to say the least! It was different to not be the hero and cool i think

Keeping nimzo a secret until the end and then his transformation and hard boss fight was awesome and i think it was one of my favourite final boss fights

ok so fans who hate alicent LOVE to say shit like "book alicent was beefing with a child lol" totally unironically. and it just confuses me. like Bro... all f&b tells us is she Stopped Being Nice to rhaenyra after aegon was born (when viserys showed no sign of naming him heir). because, reportedly, she was originally kind to rhaenyra. apparently kind enough for at least one or two people to note a sudden change in demeanor.

and like im sorry. is it that crazy that when alicent began to understand rhaenyra and her own son were going to be pitted against each other in the future she chose aegon and distanced herself from rhaenyra? she wasnt "beefing with a child" like i feel thats so clearly just a little joke someone made thats been taken at face value and regurgitated. because its not true. or at least f&b gives us no indication of it - we're never told about her acting maliciously toward a young rhaenyra. in fact i dont think we're given much indication they really interacted at all. and anyway, wouldnt it have been worse for her to continue to keep rhaenyra close ? so she could try and manipulate her?? people make book alicent into this great seductress and manipulator and theres basically no textual evidence to support it. if anything i feel like alicent distancing herself shows she very possibly DID genuinely care about rhaenyra once, perhaps enough to worry her attachment might undermine her cause to prioritise aegon in some way. and this is only further supported by rhaenyra's decision to spare alicents life later when the rest of the greens became dragon snacks.

then theres the fact book alicent was the one who asked viserys to betroth aegon to rhaenyra. why would she do that? a woman from a house with such close ties to the faith no less. she asked when aegon was 6 and she must have known by that point viserys was likely never going to name aegon heir - imo she was exhausting options to try and protect her children. no matter what choices aegon made he had every chance of becoming a symbol others would use, forcing rhaenyra to make an example of him to maintain control. marrying them to each other would do a lot to avoid that eventuality. it was both a smart political match and what Targaryen tradition demanded. viserys was convinced alicent was only acting out of ambition which is why he rebuffed her, but we're repeatedly shown viserys is kind of an idiot. especially politically.

theres this Obsession with the idea alicents characterisation was changed so dramatically for the show. 'i wish they'd made her like book alicent' they did...? they made her a victim who is scared and anxious and bitter. theres nothing to suggest that wasnt who book alicent was. everything we know of her is filtered through layers of bias - her story told by men who dont give a shit what she felt or desired. and what? you dont like it because you wanted her to be some one dimensional villian? because doubling down of f&bs oft misogynistic, cardboard cutout representation of her would have been So great. like please, i get that so much of f&b can be interpreted a whole bunch of ways but 'alicent the evil step mother' is the most basic, boring interpretation. it shows no depth of thought at all. theres at least a few clues in there as to who she Actually might have been, if you bother to look.

its just insane to me honestly. you read that book and thought she was pure evil? this woman who doted on her daughter and grandchildren so completely that her grandson's murderers knew to find them in her rooms. this woman who spent her last moments embracing death, pining for her dead children and speaking fondly of the old man she used read to as a girl. its really not that hard to percieve book alicent as a trapped and embittered woman desperately scared for the lives of her children. seriously. where is the critical thought? the empathy?? im so tired.

Ok so, i finished ace attorney investigations 2 and here are my thoughts.

Tbh this has to be my fav ace attorney game, i loved everything about it. Sadly i kind of got spoiled abt the villian before i even played the game but that doesnt upset me. The twist was very cool, i love Simon Keyes and he's definitely my favourite ace attorney villian, i kinda hate how underrated he is. I loved that we got to play as Gregory and we got to see how he is as a character, he's a great father and an amazing attorney. Raymond Shields is also a great character, he was especially very charming as Gregory's assistant, i love how he just eats his notes and Gregory is just like "yep, he just does that sometimes", he's definitely a great character, i really liked that guy. Courtney, i didn't really like her at first but, at the end i felt a lot of sympathy for her, she's also a great mother figure and her relationship with John is adorable. Sebastian Debeste is well, fucking awesome, i never knew i would relate so much to an ace attorney character, he may have been kind of an idiot at first, but he wasnt like an annoying kind of idiot, just naive, he really grew on me at the end, as i said i relate to him a lot and his redemption arc was well done, he's definitely my favourite Ace attorney character, oh yeah and his dad Blaise can eat shit, worst father of the century, kinda wished he died tbh. I feel like i mostly talked about the characters but here's one mechanic of the game that i really liked, i really like Logic Chess, kinda wished we had it in the first investigations game too. Oh another thing i wanna add, FINALLY Gumshoe got a raise lmao, i loved that.

But yeah i think that's about it, favourite Ace attorney game, wish it was more popular, and i hope we get it localised someday.

but yk you want better lip syncs?? actually pay attention to ur front runners styles of performance, rewards all styles of lip syncs, and pick ur song choices more off that.

i had a dream my mom an di figured out that this bank was distributing fake bills and then one of the... heads behind this plot actually approached us and walked down this street in this "historic" lookin town and started like telling us "what happened and why". she looked like a cartoonish corporate white buisiness woman evil villian with one of those high fashion buisiness suits... agh fuck i can tremember the exact name of the designer who designed somthing similar looking but it was liek one of those suits with large almost pauldrons with how pointy and out there the shoulders were. it was beige n black iirc

as she was telling us that they were distributing the bills to cover up a mistake the bank made for the sake of retaining trust and explaining the exact processes and logistics of thje whole plan, she was leading us to this restauruant and as soon as we reached the door she suddenlyh started acting all hush-hush about it like as if she was actually concerned about keepign things hidden. she started talki8gn about going tsomewhere more "private" where we could continue this "discussion". and for some reason we just followed her into the restaurant. it was like one of htose somewhat fancy places with mostly low lighting and the entire place looked kinda ... red cuz of it. all these ppl tightly packed and barely any space to navigate inbetween them. the floors were redish brownish, the walls were redish brownish too and like the only thing that like wasnt were the writhing masses of ppl that seemed to mostly be wearing black(?). everything was so closely packet together it kinda felt like writhing masses anyways.

i think my mother was handed this large plate of ground beef as we were walking along. we kept following the bank lady until she walked past a door and we stopped for a second. i wondered if we should gothru the crowds of tables to work our way around back to ther or just.... leave. i decided to investigate why we were handed a large plate of ground beef before we were seated and it was kinda impossible to get aroudn so i located the nearest table and set the plate on there and started diggign around in it. i remember arguing wiht my mom about whether we should bother trying to find the bank lady again and as i was, i began to seriuosly question why we even let her lead us here. why did she bring us HERE? why were we handed this large plate of fucking MEAT. why was she even spillilng her guts out about her plan for us and possibly anyone who we passed by on the street? what was in this plate. it was like a fucking mountain of meat. after investigating the plate for a bit and fucking around with it dont remember what i found but i told my mom that we HAVE to leave. RIGHT now. then i think the dream ended.

With recent manga discoveries, I can't help but imagine Izuku getting blasted left and right by more villains than in canon. All of them want a slice of the Traitor Nomu, of the puppet that tore its strings away and seeks to strangle its creator. Of course, thats not the real truth, but what can Izuku say against it? Nothing. All For One lets it continue, because its free murder attempts for him.

For the general populace, he's more reassuring than in canon. He's actively fighting against the puppet master of the underworld, and those rainbow eyes hold depth, unlike the other Nomu.

To Aizawa, it's hell. To him, it looks like Izuku's being pulled closer to All For One. What if he left not of his own free will, but something deeper? What if he falls, catatonic, like Oboro did? What if his student gets restrung by the joints, in that man's thrall once again?

Toshinori can do nothing but watch. He cannot say anything. One For All remains a secret.

Oooh i hadn't thought of eye glow much in light of the hide-and-go-seek-arc. (i know ao3 calls it the villain hunt arc but this name is more fun so there) AfO would still send Nagant, probably, and she's been in jail too long to even know about Nomu. Others are probably the same way. Muscular would know about Nomu and probably would be annoying Izuku with questions asking how he broke away when they fought the second time, while Izuku just wants to know AfO's location. Everyone else wants to know too, rushing Izuku constantly. He'd be even more stressed out and sleep deprived, which does not help the misconceptions.

The dark circles under his eyes bring out all the colors they glow with even more.

There's still always a moment people pause, always a split second before they recognize him where the color and the shadowed movement tells them 'nomu', but then they see the green sparks in the light and sag in relief, it's the traitor nomu. its the proof that AfO's will isn't as strong and it seems. It's hope to keep fighting even after you feel loss and pain. I imagine shelters marked with paintings and chalk of a shadowy figure with the glowing eyes and the lightning, a sign that this is a place of safety, of resistance against AfO.

All Might isn't the only one making him bentos, others start keeping an extra on them, or their good luck keychain, or a water bottle, something. Something small but helpful, to offer Izuku should they come across him if there's trouble.

Frequently, when there's trouble, the people end up exchanging the water and food and trinkets and stories that come with them with each other, with the other victims, as Izuku leaves too fast to take any. But there's hope in that too, as he inspires them to help each other and stand together, without even knowing he's doing it.

God im just posting about Helluva Boss all day huh.

I see a lot of people screaming and crying about Stella. Some how some shit is sexist when there is a literal women writing the show.

There were multiple ways Stella and Stolas relationship could have been written.

One of mutual understanding that they may not love eachother but they stick together for the child and ya know rich people bullshit. End resulting in Stolas cheating.

Theres a reality where Stolas was a shit bag and was just having a affiar and hid it from Stella the whole time.

But neither of those are the case, the end result is that Stolas and Stella were in a relationship that neither liked. And instead of Stella being chill, she abused Stolas. Even if later on its explained Stella had a rough childhood. That would only explain her issues not justify her actions.

Because heres the kicker; in that rant Stolas says he tried. He tried to make their life comfortable. If it turns out Stella is this way because of abuse herself. You'd think after 25 years of waiting for Stolas to turn out like her abusive brother or father she would have realized. OH he wasnt trying to just simply play nice and wait for my gaurd to lower.

It sounds like Stolas is has a lot more to lose than Stella does. She seems even petty about it. If anything her reputation and pride has been irreparately damaged because she openly gloated about not being divorced. Like what the fuck!? AGAIN! Even if it turns out she was truamatized as a child. That doesn't justifying nor excuse any of what she did. Shit Stolas looked at the paper to see she posted about a fucking party! She didnt even tell him and then she barely even invites him even tho its in his fucking house. STELLA WHAT THE FUCK GIRL?! She talks about how he barely wants to fuck her. And if you really pay attention she talks about how he just lays there and stares at a wall. Now you could chalk this up to him being gay or as I took it Stella never made him feel wanted. Thus sex was not a thing done willingly. Shit when Stolas tries to get Blitz to fuck him through all of that. He says no made me feel wanted nothing about whether it had to be a man or not. Just someone to care about him. (Vizie could have confrimed his sexuality but on my view this felt very demi for Stolas).

Stolas as a grown adult can say now that Octavia 17 he no longer has to live this lie of being together. Like this is super common in abusive relationships with kids. This isn't a slight to Octavia, Stolas is more than just her father hes is his own person. His rant doesnt mean he stopped loving her or it was a lie. It means her life wont be shatted because a teen can understand why mother and father divorced. While a small baby could not understand and would cause a bunch of stress.

Stella has done nothing to warrent sympathy now. And everyone chomping at the bit for like an excuse. You can like villians this whole ass site is made up people who love the bad guy. Stella is the antagonist you can enjoy that like damn.

Also I hate the uwu they are in hell no one is good. Okay listen- its basic fuckng writing to have a character you can sympathize with. If everyone sucked you wouldnt be watching the show. You have to connect with someone or it doesnt matter. If theres a story about 4 killers and they all kill nothing happen and they toture innocent people all day. You'd be like this is toture porn and boring. But if one is homeless and was abused. You suddenly start carring, its not even that hard to understand.

I’ve spoken some, not much mind you, but some on my thoughts on Kronos in canon vs. Kronos in mythology (and Kronos in my experience).

Kronos in canon is the epitome of telling instead of showing. We are told, over and over, that he is manipulative. We are told that he is a master of manipulation, a genius strategist, that he is clever, conniving, dangerous.

But we are not shown it.

Kronos looked at Percy, a little 12 year old with all the reason in the world to hate the Gods (unclaimed, claimed, sent on a quest, accused of a theft, his mother stolen, his mother threatened, attacked by the God he quests for) and somehow managed to alienate him completely.

He somehow didn’t come to him with kindness and promises of aid and instead filled him with fear and hate and anger. He didn’t speak to him as one would a child they sincerely wanted on their side, even as a backup plan, no he treated him as an amusing little insect he’d caught in his web and was toying with before death.

Kronos, had he truly been manipulative, truly been cunning, would’ve had several plans involved. He would’ve whispered sweet things to Percy, would’ve promised him his mother, would’ve poisoned his views of the Gods. He would’ve told him that the Gods he was trying to help were attacking him. He would’ve told him he knew how to save his mother from Hades, that she was alive and he could give her to him. All he had to do was ask. All he had to do was bow. All he had to do was pray.

Kronos was a blunt mad fool in PJO. He is someone who ate humans, who found amusement in their suffering.

The Kronos of the myths, the Kronos who is one of my Kings, he is not that.

He is, he was, he shall be someone who is a King. He ruled the world in a time known as the Golden Age and known as that for a reason.

He ruled a time where there was no illness, where death was peaceful, where humanity thrived. He ruled a time with plenty of life, a time where animals spoke like humans. Kronos of the myths ruled a good time, a peaceful time, a time known as Golden for a reason.

And that Kronos did fall, he fell into madness, a warning for all who would come after of what power could do, what Fate and Prophecy could do. His story is a warning.

But he is and was and will be a good King despite that. What he did was horrid, but that was in the throes of madness. He is not defined but what he was then, and in my experience it is not what he is now.

The Kronos of ATLOP has recovered from his madness, but it still lingers in its own form.

The Kronos of ATLOP is a manipulative Titan, and he is good at it. He is a King, he knows how to wield words as weapons.

The Kronos of ATLOP (and all my fics honestly) is a King, and a Father, and he cares for his people. He is not the King of the world now, he was once but it has passed on, but he is still a King.

Kronos in ATLOP is clever and conniving, but not all of what he presents of himself is fake. He speaks the truth in much that he does, because the truth is the greatest weapon one can wield. Why use lies that could be discovered when the truth works just as well? He will twist it, he will portray an image at an angle that makes it something else, but it will be the truth.

The major changes for me revolve mostly around the fact that Kronos... Kronos is not a mad power hungry fool. He is calculating, he is careful, and he wants victory not just for himself, but for the world. He is a Good King, he is a Kind King, but he is a King, and he is aiming for the throne of the world once more, and he is willing to wage whatever war he must to get it.

The cost will be worth it in the end for him.

10. Ruby

Her ‘I am awesome’ speech is amazing (Honestly one of the best villian speeches) but I liked her character and her little relationships built with the boys. I wish she stayed good as it would have been amazing development and proved that not all monsters are bad to Dean-Which is why shes so low. Still really liked her though.

9.  Bela

I dont know how popular she is in the show-But I really, really enjoyed her. It might be my bias towords Loren Cohan but I thought she was an interesting mix for the boys. She was sexually dominate, clever, and a strong fighter. I think its a shame she never came back after her first few episodes-But it was understandable that her actress found a new gig.

8.  Lucifer

Lucifer was somehow all equal parts funny, terrifying, and heartbreaking. He has this kinda cold air around him-That even when he’s smiling or joking it seems as if hes ready to just jump at your throat. But he also has nuance-He feels as if hes right and that hes not a monster-And he actually loves his fellow angels. Especially Micheal and Gabrial as well as his father. And his arc with Jack was also just very sad for my soul. I feel bad for him-But I also love to see him kick butt so. Bad guy Lucifer is just as good as Dad Lucifer.

7. Claire

Ahh, Claire. My Dean coded little bby. Shes fragile, strong, and childish all in one. Shes a kid who never got to be a full kid-Angels having taken that away from her. Her abandonment issues are very prevalent and I can relate to them. Also have the rebel character be a girl is something new to me-It usually is a guy. Shes rude, sarcastic and doesnt hold back-Also her little storyline with Kaia is just. so cute and tragic.

6. Sam

Sam is a really cool character because hes either a chaotic mess or a lawful booknerd. Theres literally no in between and I love it. His arc revolving around his rage issues in the first couple of seasons and that devloping into a blood addiction-It was really cool. As well as how his relationship with Dean gets tested time and time again-And right when you think he’ll let go of Dean or that he doesnt love him as much he proves you wrong. I really enjoy him. 

5. Meg

People just really dislike Meg in the fandom-But I really liked her a lot. I thought her enterance was badass, I liked that we had a tough female villian who wasnt afraid to have a real fight and I also liked that she was shown to get softer towords the end of her run. Her and Cas were adorable and I wish they expanded on her relationships with not only him but Sam. I think Meg deserved better honestly. I also enjoyed the way she spoke-Not just her tone, which is all kinds of hot for my gay heart-But her words. I think she was really funny.

4. Rowena

Rowena is just really great. A powerful witch who is the mother of the King of Hell-Then eventually becomes the queen of hell? What an icon. Shes adorable too with her accent. And I love her flair for the dramatics-Honestly shes just so great. Her relationship with Sam was wonderful as well-I absolutely adored it. I also liked the little soft spot she seemed to have developed for Jack-I just really liked her as a whole.

3. Dean

Dean is one of the most talked about characters so I probably dont have to go off on him. Hes complex with all kinds of trauma in him from survivals guilt to internalized homophobia to himself, to childhood abuse and so much more-Hes riddled with it all. But looking past his issues hes a parental (And Maternal) family man who just wants to goof off and help people. He’d do anything for the people he loves-To a unhealthy degree. I just really love him.

2. Jack

L o o k  a t  m y  s o n. Hes so adorable I CANT. He just wants to help people and have his dads love him okay? He’s a pure bean who has way to much on his toddler shoulders. And who else do you know that just casually becomes god after stealing his powers therefore rendering him a helpless mortal? Not a soul thats who. What a absolute king. We love to see it.

Description: After nearly being beaten by his father again and watching him bully his mother, Shoto retreats to his brother’s room to hide. There, all three siblings try to cheer up their baby brother.

Red and white haired splayed back against the soft pillow as high pitched giggles filled the bedroom air. "Thahahahouya," the voice cried out as a small boy squirmed around helplessly.

At the end of the tot's body, a white haired older boy sat laughing along side the smaller. "See? I told you, you'd smile again Sho!" Little toes wiggled as small fingers tickled smaller soles.

It had been a typical afternoon in the Todoroki house which ended with Rei trying to calm her husband. Shoto hadn't been hit this time, his mother took the blow.... and those that followed.

When Shoto was able to get away, he walked into his brother's room, his sister following to wipe his tears away. "It's okay Shoto, it'll get better," she said before turning to shut the sliding, bedroom door.

That was all the announcement the two boys in the room needed to offer their comfort. "Again," Touya asked as he watched Shoto waddle over to Natsuo. The taller of the two older male's held the smaller with a pout; squeezing tighter as the little boy started to cry harder.

"He hurt her," the poor baby sobbed. He nuzzled more into Natsuo's chest. "He always hurts her! He always bullies us, he's mean and scary and, and, and," Shoto was cut off by a harder sob.

Natsuo frowned, but only rubbed the smaller's back. "Heroes are supposed to make people smile. But.... I never smile with him. I never smile," Shoto whimpered as he started to play with the hem of his brother's shirt.

"That's becuase he isn't a hero," Touya stated. For this he received a gentle slap on the arm and a huff from his big sister. "Touya, you shouldn't say such things! He's our father and the number two hero."

"Yeah, number two becuase he's stinky like poop." Touya snorted at the joke, but Fuyumi seemed even more annoyed. "You two are so dumb," she sighed. Natsuo shrugged before looking down, the shaking had stopped. "But I think Sho liked it, right bud?"

A baby botch face was presented as the small boy wiped his remaining tears. "It was a dumb joke." Their dad was worse than poop, he was a villian! He was the monster under their bed and in their closet, he was the Boogey Man! Whatever that meant. Frankly Shoto didn't know what the Boogey Man was. But snot was gross and his dad is mean so Boogey Man it is. 

Natsuo frowned before sighing. "Alright. Well, what would turn that frown of yours upside down huh?" Duo colored eyes blinked before Shoto shrugging. "Dunno," he said softly before walking back to Fuyumi.

The eldest of the children rested a hand on his head and rubbed the fine hairs softly. "Maybe some cuddles," she offered. Shoto thought it over and stood closer to her.

She complied, pulling him I to a hug. But after a few moments.... he felt no different. "I don't think I'll smile again," he said as he sat on Touya's bed and laid back to maybe get more cuddles and a group nap.

Those were fun, and warm! Except for Natsuo, his feet were cold and he always made it a point to touch Shoto's little legs! Touya crossed his arms with a small smirk, never smile again huh?

"No, I think you can. We just need a little help is all." The other siblings were confussed. "Help, from who," Fuyumi asked playing with her glasses a little. "From mom's friend."

"Mom's friend," Natsuo asked as he walked over by the two. Touya sat by Shoto's feet with a nod. "Yeah! Grandma's friend too." This wasnt helping them, but the grin on Touya's face was something else.

"The tickle monster!" Shoto screamed with laughter as fingers attacked his little soles. "Eek! Nahahahahaha! Touya! Nooo!" The older brother giggled as he looked over the smaller with a broad smile. "See? Your smiling already!"

The youngest of the four thrashed about; small, chubby arms flying. Natsuo and Fuyumi took a moment but soon enough, both cracked a small smile and giggle. Natsuo was the first to join in, fingers wiggling under his little brother's arm as he held the smaller hand over head.

Fuyumi would join in tickling under his shirt on the chubby little tummy. The poor boy was looking his mind, tears of joy starting to fall from his face as his little cheeks started to turn pink.

"Nahahahahao," he cried softly, his words drowning in his laughter. Fuyumi frowned a bit. Shotow couldn't be able to cheer up really if this was so shortlived. "He needs a break," she declared, forcing her brothers to stop.

Natsuo pouted. "But I just got in on it sis! No fair!" He crossed his arms a bit, earning a chuckle from the older. "Well you can be first next time, alright?"

A small smile erupted onto his face. "Really?! You almost ready Shoto?" The smallest flared at him, panting softly before curling up under Touya's blanket with a pout.

"No." Fuymi smiled as she moved down to lay behind him, spooning him lovingly as she snuggled closer. Or was that the intention? It seemed to be a trap as soon enough, fingers were digging under the blanket, trying to reach the smallest of the Todoroki's; and Shoto was unable to move.

"Hehehehehe! Mama!" The poor boy wasn't able to take it. He could, but to a child, the anticipation and giddiness that came with tickling seemed to intensify the situation. "Mommy," he cried again, hoping his small plea would be heard over his siblings giggles and teases.

But when the door opened, he heard no reassuring voice. He heard nothing at all actually. The giggles of his siblings stopped, as did the teases. Shoto was calming down, too tired to really take in his surroundings. If he had, he would have noticed his siblings were all frozen in place.

"What's going on in here," a deep voice asked bitterly. Fuyumi didn't let go of her brother. She innocently looked at her father an replied "tickle fight". The other two seemed too scared to answer.

Enji looked down at the mess that was his youngest before back to his other three children. He let out a snort of amusement before ge tly shutting the door and walking away, leaving all but two frozen in confusion.

Fuyumi rolled back over, smiling to herself as she nuzzled into her now sleeping baby brother. Their dad wasn't so bad, once you got through the outer shell. Or at least, that's what she'd tell herself from now on.

technically he was born with his powers, but technically he received them thanks to a injection

his mother was a scientist working for a laboratory

for years she helped developed a serum that would give someone powers 

his mother was a courageous woman and offered herself up as the first test subject, they didn't know if the serum would kill her or even work

injecting it into herself she stayed under surveillance for weeks and the only thing that seemed to be happening was that she kept feeling nauseous and puking  

they brushed it off as a weird side effect

however, 1 month later she learned about her pregnancy

she left the lab and focused all her attention on raising her soon to be son

the thoughts of the serum still lingered in her mind, she was filled with despair at the fact that it seemed to not have worked 

but she would soon be proven wrong

when her son was born, clouds filled the room and rain began to pour down, wind started blowing everything around

the serum did in fact work, just not on her

Donghyuk had it slightly hard growing up

since neither of his parents had powers they weren't able to understand him

they took him to power therapy, there he learned how to control them and what he could do with them 

he knew that his powers were powerful and potentially dangerous 

watching the news caused him to see how people could take their amazing gifts and do some of the worst things with them 

the hatred and fear they caused, it was because of them that people would treat those with powers like trash and not human 

Donghyuck wanted to do good, he had a gift and he wanted to use it to save the world, to show those out their that hated his kind that they were also good people 

when he met up with people who also had powers, they called him crazy 

“Why would I risk my life for those who wouldn't risk theirs for me?”

“What's the point, its to much work!”

“Your crazy, ya know!”

it made Donghyuck bubble with rage

why couldnt they be more compassionate and understanding

normal humans had a right to be afraid of them, look at all the things “superheros” did to them

superheros were so focused on stopping the villian that sometimes they caused more damage then what the villain would have done 

Donghyuck confronted his power therapist, he went on a 30 minute rant on how he wanted to save peoples lives but no one else wanted to 

which is when his therapist told him about a young boy named Jaemin

apparently “Jaemin” was like him, he wanted to use his powers to help save people 

and that's how he met his best friends 

it was also how he met you

many of the fights and bad people seemed to target the same neighborhood

which was where you lived

it wasn't a bad neighborhood but it also wasn't the richest, it was perfectly in the middle 

there was many times when you would be sitting outside and all of a sudden some person was going off on a speech about taking over the world

you always casually watched from your porch

after awhile of watching them fight you chose to make them some snacks

Donghyuck was completely taken back when you casually approached them with sandwiches and water

it became your thing, you make them some food and bring it to them

while doing so you fell for the weather powered boy 

you were extremely shocked when you learned Donghyucks real identity 

he was the cute kid who never shut up in your chem class

which in hindsight, you should have known

Donghyuck was known for his weather powers

you laughed to yourself, people should have been smarter to realize that the kid in school with weather powers was actually the superhero,,,with weather powers 

he risked revealing his identity to you so you could date

The Dream Team, as they called themselves didn't mind, they all loved you

you had already proven that you were a nice person, that you actually cared about them 

dating Donghyuck was a little hard at first, only because sometimes he couldn't control his powers around you

like the time when some dude was hitting on you, Donghyuck made it downpour in the coffee shop,,,only on the guy 

then there was the time you two were swimming and messing around, he was shooting you heart eyes, the clouds cleared up even more and you swore you heard sweet music suddenly play in the background 

and your personal favorite was when you two were having a pretty intense make-out session and the temperature in the room raised a whole 10 degrees

(fahrenheit otherwise that would be concerning)

other than his rapid emotions he was an amazing normal boyfriend

he loved to show you off, if you ever felt insecure about something 

he would brag about you to everyone around him like you were a first place trophy 

you still brought his friends food after they fought, except this time Donghyuck enjoyed your kisses more than the food 

Everyone at your school was kinda shocked to learn that you were dating 

as far as they knew you never talked before

and then suddenly you were holding hands in the hallway while walking each other to classes 

As much as you loved Donghyuck for fighting,and helping people you couldn't help but feel scared for him sometimes 

the number of times he came over to your house with cuts and bruises on your face made your heart sink

you always told him that he should have gone to Jaemin for help but he said that you made him feel better 

like any other day you were sitting at your desk while working on some dreaded homework

the headphones blasting music in your ears distracted you from properly doing your work, plus its not like you were really trying

a light tap of your window caused you to look up with a soft smile

you were expecting to see Donghyuks smiling face

“Babe?” You asked when no one was in sight

feeling confused you stood up and stupidly opened the window

screaming Donghyucks name when someone grabbed you and pulled you out of it

you knew that Donghyuck wasnt near but you pleaded for him in your mind

begging for him to somehow hear you and save you

everything went black and the last thing you saw was the intruders smiling face

Donghyuck laughed along with his friends at Renjuns joke

suddenly Jisung stopped laughing and looked straight at Donghyuck

“Hyung, Y/n is in danger,” he said very seriously

“What? Don't joke like that,” Donghyuck snapped a bit

not really enjoying being joked with on something so serious

“Im not joking! I just know Y?n is in danger,” he protested growing more and more scared every second

everyone looked at him before Chenle spoke up

“Jisung would joke about something like that, Y/n must seriously be in danger.”

rushing out of his seat Donghyuck made a mad dash for your house

the clouds around began to darken, rain falling slowly

he pulled at his phone and repeatedly tried to call you but got no answer

adding to the sudden weather problems

wind harshly blew, a drastic change from the previous sunny and calm day

when Donghyuck arrived at your house and saw your open window he just knew Jisung was right

as much as he didnt want to believe him

looking around he couldn't see any sign as to where you could have been

tears began to fall down his face

calling Jisung he begged and pleaded for him to figure out where you were

Jisung thought and thought about everything before it came to him 

“I think,,I think Y/n is at the old abandoned factory on 8th str-” Donghyuck hung up before he could finish his sentence

Donghyuck turned and darted in the direction of the factory

people around him screamed as the rain poured harder and thunder boomed, lightning decorated the sky rapidly, cool and warm wind began to mix causing funnel clouds to appear

dangerously threatening the people out the city

back at the table Donghyuck friends stared at the sky in awe, they had seen Donghyucks powers before but never like this

silently praying for your safety they sat and watched the sky, waiting for it to change to show that you were okay 

he quickly arrived at the factory, the door burst open from wind before he could even touch it

he listened for a sound, running towards it

the door burst open as Donghyuck arrived, staring at your tied up and beaten figure

“Y/n,” he yelled, body shaking with anger

the guy in front of you immediately dropped what he was holding in fear

you cried in happiness at seeing your boyfriend, knowing that he was able to find you thanks to Jisung

“How dare you fucking hurt Y/n,” he said angrily

bursts of wind launched the man into the wall and held him there

the room rapidly rised in temperature, clouds formed in the room, replicating the weather outside

the man screamed out

Donghyuck stepped towards him as tornado began to form

he untied you, holding your body as you fell into his arms, knees weak from pain

gently he kissed your forehead “ill take you to Jaemin as soon as im done here baby,” he tone was the exact opposite of the one he used to the man just seconds before

you stared at the room in awe at his powers, not feeling the slightest afraid because you trusted him

a huge bolt of lightening stuck down on the man causing him to knockout

Donghyuck calmed down at seeing the injured man

the boys back at the table smiled at the sky when all the clouds disappeared the sun came out, wind changing to a gentle breeze

“Im so glad you are okay, I was so fucking worried,” he began to cry as he held you

“I don't know what I would have done if I lost you, Y/n you are my everything and I can't live without you,” he body shook with tears

holding him as tight as you could you rested your head on his chest 

“I screamed for you the whole time, all i wanted was to be right here,,in your arms,” you said happily

your eyes started to close, exhausted taking over your body

you placed a weak kiss on Donghyucks lips

“let me take you to Jaemin,”

Donghyuck smiled contentedly and carried you out of the room, ignoring the man, and was happily met with his friends

“Figured you'd need me,” Jaemin looked at you and smiled, healing all your wounds and making you feel like none of it had happened

“Well lets get out of here,” Jaemin said

Donghyuck followed behind his friends, refusing to put you back down

“,,,you aren't gonna heal the guy, Hyung? what if Donghyuk killed him?” Jisung asked in surprise

Jaemin waved his hand and shook his head 

Donghyuck scoffed “Sadly, he wasn't hurt that badly.”

I know no one will read this. I dont care. I have to talk about how much the song "Set yourself free" from tangled the series means to me. I feel like the best tldr of my life I can give you is this. When I watched Tangled (2010) with my mom, my mom spent the entire movie agreeing with Mother Gothel. After the movie she told her friends about how she FIRMLY did not believe Mother Gothel was a villian at all.

The song set yourself free describes my whole life. "Traoped behind a wall, sheltered from a world you barely know-that's the way they treat you" might as well have been written about me. My mom never let me leave the house unless it was with her permission. I wasnt allowed to hang out with my friends unless it was under her roof. I wasnt allowed to get a car till I was 18. I wasnt allowed to do anything at all. My mom was a professional gas lighter and dog whistler. So when I got the chance to move out, I took it at age 21. I didnt even realize at this time that my mom was gaslighting me. I firmly believed she loved me and was just trying to keep me safe.

Theres a line in set yourself free that really gets to me everytime. It "so seize the day, let down your hair, and you'll find away to set yourself free" immediately followed by "now it's up to you and what youll do and who you'll be." The first act of becoming who I am now and escaping my mom was cutting my thick elbow length hair into a pixie cut. My mom cringed at the idea of cutting my hair because it was "too pretty to cut." But I did it anyway despite what she said. It was my first act of defiance against what my mom has always told me my whole life. After that I realized that nothing I have wanted to do had been me, it had been an attempt to make my mother proud of me. Spoiler, gaslighters will NEVER be proud of you no matter how hard you try. So I gave up. I started doing something that makes me happy instead. The line "forced to play a role you never chose. Why not test your limits, you've got what it takes... no more letting someone else define you to a T," is the advise I followed when deciding to give up on what my mom wanted me to do.

This is a short essay but every single line means so much to me and I love it. I relate to it so much. I relate too much to Tangled in general, more than someone should. Cass especially but that's a different essay. From someone who grew up with a Mother Gothel, thank you so much for giving a song that perfectly describes what it's like to live with one.
