Here's the ongoing Iceberg if anyone cares. There's little things, little moments that I could list on forever as canonical evidence to Me that they're in love/soulmates, or just simply crazy things that I can't believe have happened to them. For example, the fact that no one on earth understands what Hung Sheung Sin is thinking, not even her boyfriend or her family, but Linda does. When they supposedly hate each other but Sheung Sin when put in a life-or-death situation they would die for each other. How is this canon but they're still denying that there's nothing between them. Okay let me get into this iceberg (no particular order). Some stuff not included in the iceberg

Tier 1

Calling each other 豈有此理 and 窮編劇， even setting it as their contact names, and every time they mention one another behind their backs at home

The n number of times they dressed the same (see: essay on doubling)

Linda paying Sheung Sin to write a reality show for her and her husband (and every time she needs someone to write something she goes to her tbh). Then Sheung Sin teachers her to give the audience the side of her that they want to see and perfectly captures her mean girlboss angle (we know that's her fantasy...) and then female netizens call her "husband" yeah Sheung Sin knows what the gays want

Sheung Sin pretending that her son k worded himself and made Linda think it was her fault (what kind of gaslighting) because she was jealous that her son was more afraid of Linda than of her.

Finally, Sheung Sin taking Linda's identity when she was at rock bottom and disowned, and took her relationship with her dad by becoming his goddaughter, took her dogs, sold her designer bags, and basically everything (except her boyfriend lmao she didn't want him). It's the ultimate "do i want you or do i want to become you?" phenomenon.

I didn’t get a chance to tell y’all last night, frens, but I did manage to finish my Mass Effect: Andromeda playthrough before Camp NaNo began! My first playthrough with Jaal took 120 hours because that Sara would be happy to help you, citizen, to get your cat out of the tree along with any and all other side quests, lol!

For Reyes 😍 I just backed the Jaal playthrough up to Kadara, gave Sara a makeover and romanced the heck out of that scoundrel, lol! So, don’t know how many hours that took. 🤷‍♀️

For Peebee, I didn’t go all of the way back to when we first met her but just grabbed another makeover, then jumped in right before the Zero-G scene 🥳 and finished the game from there in about 60 hours total.

Annnnnd now I’ve found a couple of shortcuts that let me go back to where we’d just landed on Eos (geez, I’d forgotten what a pain that was with all the radiation and no outpost or forward stations yet 😬), took yet another makeover, then played all the way through to the movie night scene and to where we’d defeated the Archon and settled Meridian... in 30 hours total. *fistpump*

Of course, to do that I ended up skipping all of the Architect fights, didn’t do the Turian pathfinder mission so Captain Dunn died because there was only the Salarian and Asari pathfinders and they couldn’t save her without a third, 😥 (I actually feel bad about that, that would be the only thing I’d change in the future in a “fast playthrough” is to make room for saving Cpt Dunn), I opened all of the vaults but didn’t put outposts on Kadara (left all of Reyes’ missions undone, only met with him once or twice so I wouldn’t be tempted by that handsome fella 😳😛) or Elaaden (didn’t even meet with Overlord Morda at all, oops 👀) and didn’t do Peebee or Liam’s loyalty missions because they had no outcome on the ending.

But, I did have plenty of time for my best Turian girl! 💖

Enigma - looks kinda good but I’m not sure what it’s about. I hope they don’t put the student with the new teacher - Will I watch? No

A Boss and a Babe - I feel like they just gave away everything that will happen on the show and ending 😂 it seems simple and cute - Will I watch? Probably

Find Yourself - They give away too much in these promos. Is the whole plot that he’s 15 years younger than him? Age gaps in shows get weirder when they mention it every 5 seconds. It’s called find yourself tho so I’m gonna guess at the end she finds herself - Will I watch? No

Double Savage - Brothers fighting. Not interesting to me (unless it was a comedy) - Will I watch? No

Hidden Agenda - Seems cute. A popular guy helps a nerdy guy (who he likes I’m assuming) get his ex gf and they fall in love - Will I watch? Probably

23.5 - Love it already! A popular girl is in an online relationship with someone she doesn’t know. And it’s actually a girl who isn’t popular from her school. Classic. I love their height difference - Will I watch? Yes

Then, I read that, Sana Maqbul (Lavanya) wanted to quit IPKKND, that's why the quick breakup???

Is that why they didn't give us the COMMON AF *jealousy and hero's ex GF turns villain* track? Then again, Anjali was jealous and sad about Khushi after the first reveal of Shyam, and it looked like track about Didi Ki Saut was beginning. But again ratings dropped and the fandom didn't react well (kinda protested), Anjali quickly stopped showing jealousy and Dadi was introduced to give ArShi a common saas-bahu vibe.

I am going to over answer this with a lot of detail because I have a lot of thoughts, as always! Time to get into my thinking cape/coat:

This analysis is going to cover:

(1) every example you just mentioned,

(2) my thoughts on external things affecting plot of the story,

(3) things/plots/ tracks that could've been if not for external factors

Examples

1) IPKKND was supposed to have a longer office track (that wasn't common though, I would've loved it) but the TRP was low, so Shantivan track was introduced

As far as I can remember from one of the writers' interviews, the office track was cut short because this was a show on Star Plus - which, as a channel, caters to 'family audience' therefore needs to have sanskaar and stuff at its core. Hence the rude shortening of the office track and weird 'makeover' and 'desi-dying' Lavanya. And hence we had a very weird four months of an eighteen-twenty years old Khushi teaching someone about sanskaars and suddenly knowing everything about a household when Bua-ji or even Payal would've been a more apt choice for this 'tutoring'.

If this was a Star One show, they might've not shifted out of the office for the longest time!

2) Sana Maqbul (Lavanya) wanted to quit IPKKND, that's why the quick breakup??? Is that why they didn't give us the COMMON AF *jealousy and hero's ex GF turns villain* track?

I did not know that's why the quick end happened. Honestly that happened perfectly. I think Lavanya had an inkling about their relationship heading south right when Arnav told everyone he's getting engaged to her. But she chooses to not see it until one day she couldn't. Maybe we could've gotten more from La but if you see carefully, La clearly knows that this relationship is now just for face. Bless her heart for trying though, trying with a smile!

Also, again I think the writers never thought of making Lavanya a vamp. They had enough material with Arnav-Khushi's own differences, Shyam and Buaji playing enough roles to mess up Arnav-Khushi's love story. I probably think they always had planned Lavanya as a beautiful person who was unintentionally caught in all of this. I feel they planned La and Khushi's friendship - they clearly enjoyed writing two completely different people becoming closest of friends.

The writers/creators deserve full credit for this.

This is all true.

My Thoughts on External Things Affecting Plot

It's not necessarily bad that external things affect plot. Feedback, from channel or fans, can help the show to pivot and understand what is working and what's not. The problem is when feedback is implemented regardless whether or not it matches the theme of the plot.

I loved:

1) The channel moving out of the office because the power dynamic was too great and the contract terms were very unhealthy and Arnav Singh Raizada deserved to get sued at least 10 times by the end of this contract so yes, the shorter the office track the better. Literally the saving grace is they didn't "fall in love" there.

2) The fans protesting against Didi Ki Saut track. Not because I hated the track - I think it was executed in the worst manner! From identical visual languages to show Arnav-Anjali and Arnav-Khushi scenes (which didn't work to show Arnav being equally torn between the two most important women in his life, but just made the audience get creeped by Arnav-Anjali's relationship) and writing scenes of Anjali getting offended by Arnav-Khushi's intimacy/Arnav spending time with his wife, on her birthday, in his bedroom... did she expect Khushi would just *disappear* in a her and Arnav's bedroom? Like that was the worst way to show a compelling plot line and giving people some weird thoughts about Anjali-Arnav (which I hate because I LOVE Anjali-Arnav).

3) Barun walking out when the plot was literally done. Yes, thank you!

4) Barun going to do a movie led to the kidnapping track, which I liked a lot. No, not the nonsense of Manorama Bond fishing out Delhi's security camera footages in vintage recording system - but the fact that given the chasm and angst between Arnav & Khushi, only something bigger than their misunderstanding could force Arnav to give weight to his feelings and for Khushi to be able to forgive him. And his life was at stake. It was a sharp reminder to both of them that they lost so much by not communicating that it doesn't matter what they had to say - they loved each other, they just needed to get back and fight off everything together.

And then again, there are things I HATED that happened because of external factors:

1) The channel for the whole La becomes Desi. And the overdose of sanskaar and tradition that followed for a few months *uggggh* Clearly the channel demanded this from the plot because family, traditions and all are important to Star Plus (wtf are they thinking for Ghum Hai Kisi Ke? though or YRKKH?) And even the Aarav track and Mrs. India - two tracks with terrible execution - were very Star Plus recommended content. Just now Saath Nibhana Saathiya 2 had a Mrs. Surat/Gujarat track and Yeh Hai Chaahatein had a miracle child popping up...

2) The fans demanding Arnav & Khushi's proximity. The whole hut scene was *noooooo*. Lack of consent, body doubles, GLARING logical loopholes and them just trying to do it when one of them is really not in the mood and they were both so out of character. @phati-sari explains this really well in her post (just search for the hut to get all relevant posts on her blog)

3) Barun? Not exactly - he's never in control of the plot so really it's the writers that kinda know what to do with his presence and absence. Even if they get a short time, it's upto the creators who know if they use the last 2-3 weeks for stretching a random track as much as they can and give a rushed ending or quickly wrap up a crap track and give a satisfactory ending. A good example of this is Lavanya's exit - although rushed was dealt with grace, important conversations and memorable hugs. Bad one is the end of the show - I know Barun gave his papers but I wish they went the La way with the end of the show - important convos, teary hugs and a sweet moment (they tried their best tho...)

It's an ITV trend though to not plan for the end of a show... they stretch a crappy track as much as they can and have like a 2 min epilogue. Kasautii 2.0 was the funniest cause they had all misconceptions cleared, Komolika and Mr. Bajaj die and then have a weird 2 min pillow fight to show 'happy family'... guess in that way I'm glad we had whatever we did with IPKKND!

Possible Tracks Then

So if external factors didn't influence the show, we might have had the following:

1) A longer office track. It would end the way it did in canon though. I think it was prewritten that at one point Khushi would tear up the contract and hold him accountable for everything Arnav did. Just instead of 3-4 days it would've been 10-15 days after the contract.

2) Didi Ki Saut track. Honestly that was compelling if executed right. Sometimes you can have an antagonist without becoming a villain, Anjali the perfect character for that.

3) A separation track. I'm pretty sure Arnav-Khushi could have separated at some point in their six months marriage - this is just my inkling and not something I heard in an interview unlike the above two. If given full reign to writing, we probably would've gotten an angst heavy stuff at some point post marriage/6 months.

4) A remarriage track sans Dadi. We know why Dadi was introduced (honestly I didn't mind her, it was a track done well and kinda to redeem Arnav in front of the public eyes. It's a perfect track cause Arnav is 'nice' for standing up for her and kinda heals the wounds he caused in the first few months of the marriage by retorting someone who tells Khushi everything he told her...) But anyway I do think a remarriage was in the works, not because of TRPs but the way their whole 'marriage' was framed and how Khushi was broken because of the lack of everything in it. And they deserved one w/o the devastation that night brought.

5) The 'marriage' would've been a live in. Arnav and Khushi's elopement was supposed to be darker in nature*. Their 'marriage' would've had no religious nor legal validity, therefore a stark contradiction to everything Khushi stood for... but you can't have that in ITV. *By dark I don't mean sexual violence - never.*

6) The whole IPKKND was meant to be darker. I am glad for the romantic comedy though! I think their balance of angst and comedy pre marriage was perfect! Not sure post marriage because it felt like a loop of going back to square one with no progress. But I think things were meant to be less subtle, more tragic and dramatized. So I think we could've gotten extremely angsty periods post marriage with a slow, gentle lull to the romance/comedy. While I am extremely glad for the lightheartedness, I wish I could've read what the whole original concept for Arnav/Khushi was!

7) Arnav revealing the truth to Khushi would've been different. We know the distasteful suicide track quickly came as a way to push Arnav's buttons and have him confess the truth of his elopement to Khushi. And that came from Barun going away - hence the quick kidnapping track and everything. So if Barun didn't go away, I honestly don't know how the revelation would happen. Would Arnav start piecing things together from information and things about Shyam in Laxminagar? Would Arnav end up helping and hospitalizing Shashi who would tell him the truth? Would Arnav come across any hidden wedding card Buaji could've had printed for Shyam-Khushi or even Shyam's fake kundili? Given the Gupta house wasn't the place where Shyam covered his tracks... was this where Arnav would start seeing things? Or guilt ridden, would Garima/Khushi/Madhumati tell Arnav the truth? Something was meant to happen for this revelation, whether it's Arnav believing Khushi or just getting further evidence against her - I... don't know! I wish I knew what the writers had in store.

We highly appreciate for not showing a typical Nanand against Bhaabi trope, also for not making La villain, but would it result differently if things didn't have a hand? Imma cry thinking Anjali jealous and La villain! meh!  What a feast for the eyes it was to see ONLY ONE VILLAIN and less negativity in a tellywood show. Baas bohut hua my casual verbiage. By demand I mean no pressure, please take your valuable time and reply whenever you feel like it.Take Loads of Care and Chocolates your way <3

He has the potential to be able to actually do work he just doesn’t know how. He’s smart, but he just needs a little push. The easiest way to put it is that he is basically a burnt out gifted kid.

When you are helping him with his work you’ll have to snap him back into focus others wise he wouldn’t retain any info. He likes zoning out to your voice, he finds it quite soothing.

Listen, Cleo is actually pretty smart. But she has gotten so caught up in the whole “play dumb to get the guy” act that she has managed to fool pretty much everyone.

Crash landing on you - perfect for K-drama-beginners. Just watch out - it‘s addictive

I may not be the target audience, but this has really got me. After watching it for the 3rd time back to back (with 16 episodes that are about 70 -90 minutes it’s ok, I guess, when finishing it, I want to see the start again) I now need to put some thoughts down.

Why do I (and apparently millions of others) love it so much?

It‘s funny, tragic, super romantic and suspenseful. The actors are great, not only the main couple Ri Jeong Hyeok ans Yoon Se-Ri as star crossed lovers, but also the second couple, which is even more star-crossed and one half of it is for a lot of episodes hopelessly tied and in love with the elusive RJH. Also the supporting actors are great, especially the band of brothers from Company 5, who do everything to help their leader and YSR. The villain is great and so vile, you hate him - until you see him in the Behind the Scenes-vids, where he is most charming.

It‘s a bit like fanfiction in a series: found family, vile brothers, destiny, star-crossed lovers, fake fiancee, reversed makeover, sleeping in one bed, all the tropes are there, but never blatant, but lovely and well executed. A lot of people who watched it say it’s also enemies to lovers, but I seriously doubt that, seeing Captain Ri‘s face at the end of the first episode. It’s more like love at first sight, smitten and whipped.

While he is a kind of super-hero („Do you think you‘re in the Avengers“) he also has flaws, is sometimes jealous, easily flustered by Se-Ri and exasperated by the whole set up. Still, he does everything for her to make her feel better and to help her escape to the south. He is an ace at fighting, can cook, is a very quick thinker, a good shot, plays the piano and is endearingly truthful (most of the time). Not to say extremely easy on the eye. She, and that is very important in my pov, is no damsel in distress. She is, actually, but she does not act like it. Being a very successful ceo, she takes the North and its people in her stride and instead of whining, heats water and helps poor kids. She cries sometimes when she is overwhelmed, which is a totally normal reaction in my opinion, making her relatable. She is beautiful and successful, he is super handsome and from an upperclass family, but both are supremely unhappy before she literally falls down on him. How they are helping each other is one of the main attractions for me. F.ex. After Se-Ris first really bad meeting with the villain and him coming to the rescue, he asks her if she is allright and not hurt. You can really see how much that surprises her, which is in turn heart-wrenching. He doesn‘t talk much, but one of his catchphrases is: „I am alright“ - which is mostly untrue, whether he stands on a mine, was shot or beaten or impending doom is coming at him. She calls him out for that, which is lovely. Both actors are nearing 40, although they look impossibly younger, but for me, being ever so slightly over 40 it was great that this was not a series with CEOs that look as if they are still in High school.

The Chemistry between the leads is so amazing that one comment said that it could light up North Korea for real. I‘d say it’s not chemistry anymore, it’s Physics, waiting for the inevitable chain reaction/explosion. Captain Ri aka Hyun Bin and Yoon Se-Ri aka Son Ye Jin started dating IRL after the show (or long before, who knows) and are still going strong. That’s really romantic, especially if you watch the BTS. 🔥🔥💥

If you are not interested in history: skip this! Another point in this far too long post is that I asked myself why I could relate to these main characters who are so different from me, being a tall, sturdy blond highschool-headmistress. My husband is a pianist, but that is not it. But I lived long enough to still remember the iron curtain slashing through my country. Not to liken the then existing GDR with NK, but while we West-Germans were allowed to visit in the East, different from the Koreas, the East-Germans were not allowed to come to West-Germany. I had friends in the GDR near Dresden. My parents met them in Hungary and I was pen-friends their daughter. It was super difficult to go to Dresden, but we could meet in Berlin where it was easier to cross the border. In 1986 we met for the first time in person. I was ateeneager on a classtrip. My teacher brought me to the border in Friedrichstraße Railway station, called „Palace of tears“ by the locals. I crossed the border on foot and was in a different county and world in the same city. The cars, how the people dressed, the shops - it was strange, old fashioned and for my 20 years backwards. But the people where lovely. We met like a blind date, they were carrying a white rose. The banners seen in CLOY promoting communism and heralding the states own greatness were everywhere. When they brought me back to the eastern entrance of the railway station I had to cross, I knew why this was called Palace of tears. We cried, everyone there who had to let go family or friends to the west cried. It was heartwrenching. Unification 3 years later was a wonder I had never expected. Never. So, although our situation was not as bad as Se-Ris who knows she cannot visit NK, it is still very relatable. It wasn‘t the 38th parallel but still a nearly impenetrable wall. One of my highschool friends was in love with *drumroll for cloy-watchers* a cellist from the GDR. He was devastated to leave her at the border when we left east-berlin. Our poor teacher - I off to meet unknown people (with a permission slip from my parents but still, no phones etc) and Frank off to meet his gf at the suburbs of east Berlin. But we both came back unscathed. They got married after unification btw.

My favourite scene: Very difficult to choose, the whole set up in Pjöngyang possibly, their argument about destiny, his jealousy and him telling her to stay in his sight and 2 seconds later him being so ashamed to have said that. Also: the scene with Daddy Ri.

Strange things that happened after watching: I really want a Range Rover, preferably red. I own a cloy t-shirt and watched all behind the scenes-vids multiple time.

Why I am so late watching it: the subtitles. Apart from Shtisel, which I love, I watch English dubbed (I am German) all the time. We are used to dubbing here. What can I say: it took me 10 minutes to forget that.

For my fellow Miss Fishers murder mysteries/Phrack-lovers: I know nothing can compare the Phryne and Jack. But: The extremely dashing Captain Ri has a lot of Jack Robinson vibes going on. Dealing with trauma, being honest and respectful, accepting and encouraging the woman he loves, being so handsome and dependable. He also does not talk much but has very speaking eyes. And while Se-Ri accepts more help than Phryne does she is also a badass woman in her own right who dresses sharply and is self-sufficient and smart. CLOY is very romantic though, you can‘t really say it is a slow-burn, the aforementioned chain-reaction happens very fast. The whole thing is quite chaste, but in my mind a lot happens after the camera roll stopped...The OST is beautiful and I listen to it all the time.

Give it a try and see if you are not hooked at the end of the first episode like I was... #fighting!

Unpopular opinion; I hated elmax in season 3, just think about the fact that they only got friends with each other cause El broke up with Mike. But also just so much more that i disliked; constantly laughing behind the boys their backs, Max using els powers to spy on people. Yeah I didn’t like any of that.

Like I’ve said before, them stalking their exes was supposed to look bad. Spying on romantic partners = not being endgame!

Lumax is paralleled to mileven and jancy which have stalking elements, specifically stalking their future partner.  (lucas being called a ‘stalker’ for stalking Max with binoculars(max spying on Lucas in s3), el spying on mike and saying “I make my own rules “ -ignoring his discomfort , Jonathan taking pics of nancy unbeknownst to her (and Steve saying he was “stalking” nancy- although Jon apologized unlike El, max, or Lucas ) . Steve in s3 (like Lucas) using binoculars to spy on a girl he’s crushing on that rejected him earlier. Lumax and mileven danced to ‘every breath you take’- a song about a bad break up and a stalker ex gf. The writer of the song also has said many times “it’s NOT a love song.” The duffers obviously knew that. Lumax also danced to it and Lucas was called a ‘stalker’ right before they danced. El also stalked Mike in s2 (all that stuff milevens found romantic- El watching him using her powers, without him knowing. Mike said he was not ok with it in s3). And in s3 when he said not to do that and she just says ‘i make my own rules’. She was literally a stalking ex in s3 (like the song). It even says “I’ll be watching you” when Lucas/El were on screen - the 2 characters,  who in s2, stalked their future partners.And like max said to Mike about the spying “I didn’t make her do it ! it was her idea!” (To spy on mike- because she’s been doing it constantly ever since s2 !)

Everything you criticize elmax for is just showing how bad mileven is.

Like how El laughed at Max saying Mike talks too much. Plus, El laughing when Max said mileven wasn’t on break but a breakup. (Or El swoning over Ralph Machio right after dumping mike and saying mike is just her “first boyfriend “). El lying to everyone to go against her “friends don’t lie “ mantra to kiss mike. And ignoring all of her old friends for 6 months to makeout with mike. El and mike neglected everyone for 6 months- so they could makeout and were called out for it by multiple characters.

Many characters criticized Mileven (mike/ El) : for neglecting others in favor of their unhealthy codependent relationship

-Hopper about mileven In ep 1 : “it is constant! Constant! That is not healthy! That is not normal!”

-Will: “you’re ruining the party... all so you can swap spit with some stupid girl.”

-Lucas micking mike in ep 1 : “oh el, I wish we could makeout and never hang out with our friends.”

-Dustin pissed in ep 1(after mileven lies to their friends to all of them to ditc the party and makeout- proving lucas’ earlier comment right ): “it’s bullshit! I just got home !” ( he specifically says “ it’s bullshit “ in response to max saying “it’s romantic “. Because Dustin is also dating someone and knows that excuse is bs. Just like mileven is bs (stancy parallel) . See the difference ! Dustin is on the hill to integrate Susie (his gf ) into the friend group- similar to what Lucas did with max- the opposite of what mike is doing with El in that same scene).

-Hopper: “For 6 long excruciating months they’re finally not together!” (Joyce cheers and claps her hands happily)

-Max to mike (after previously defending mileven) : “she’s not yours! She’s her own person!”

Mileven caused El to ignore all her friends and not try and get to know Will or Max.So the way the elmax friendship only happened AFTER the mileven breakup reflects more poorly on mileven than anything.

El dating Mike caused her character to regress as a character NOT PROGRESS. She went from (in s2) wanting to see her all friends and leave the cabin that she was forced to remain in because of Hopper . To in s3 , ignoring her friends and choosing to seclude herself in the cabin even when (unlike s2 ) she was allowed out of the house! All so she could suck face with mike ! And because she was dating mike she also directly went against her own mantra of “friends don’t lie” from s2 (lying to her friends to return to the cabin and kiss mike) - and limiting her much needed social interaction which she obtained (with kali/ terry/Becky ) by escaping the cabin in s2. And despite her lying to her friends- she hypocritically dumped mike for lying to her. But also forgave him despite the fact he never actually apologized for lying (the cause of the breakup). And she also lied for 3 months about hearing the “love her “ comment in the cabin. She even wears Hopper’s shirt at the end of s3 which in s2 she snuggled with when homesick.  Her using teddy bears like s2,  wearing Hopper’s shirt from s2 (and undoing the s3 makeover where Max said to dress what felt like her and NOT Mike & Hopper),  and kissing Mike again, symbolizes all her character development was undone from s3 too- it’s symbolic of her CHARACTER REGRESSION. Just like how in s3 she stayed in the cabin and lied to her friends (when she started to date Mike)- undoing her character arc /traits from s2 which were in direct opposition to her s2 character arc. Mileven’s kissing at the end of s3 shows it’s a bad for El’s growth and inhibits it- that’s what  season 3 was saying! Mileven is in direct opposition to El’s character growth- it reversed her character growth in both s2 and s3!

Plus, unrelated - El attacking Max for having the audacity to make Mike smile. Was never framed positively! It had sinister music and some of ya’ll STILL thought it was cute /funny when it was the opposite. All this reflects more poorly on mileven than elmax.

Here it is, Saube's new look! I had a really fun time designing this and creating a new look for her. She’s fully embracing “new year, new me”, even though it’s like the equivalent of September in her game lol. She has a new style, a new gender/pronouns (demigirl and she/they), and some new understandings about herself and her life, and with that, a newfound realization of how much she loves her current life. She can’t wait to see what’s in store for this new chapter in her life.    

Some ramblings and musing about my favorite tief and her makeover below the cut ↓ ↓ ↓

In game, this makeover was inspired by a want to change her life for the better, starting small by changing something easy and inconsequential, like her appearance. She felt nervous about changing, because she felt so comfortable with her old look, but she needed to take a step out of her comfort zone to move forward and she felt this was the best way to start. For her, the biggest step out was cutting her hair. Before this, her hair was down to her lower back, and she had had it that way for many years. She found comfort in the routine of caring for her hair, especially braiding it, as it was methodical and tactile. So, to do something that breaks her out of that routine is definitely jarring, but also necessary. She was nervous at first to do it, but she loves the look and is very happy about the both literal and metaphorical weight it took off of her shoulders. Also, I'm a big old slut for a good symbol and I love the idea of her cutting her hair short, symbolising the shedding of the past, starting with something fresh and new that was completely her choice and not either someone else's choice or the result of circumstance. She also just really looks great with a pixie cut so there's that too lol.

The clothes were less of a shock, as she had already been making moves towards dressing more femininely for some time. At home, she tended to keep her dress pretty casual and neutral, as she used to work on a farm, but now that she's out in the world, she wanted to expand her wardrobe a bit. She always liked feminine clothing but still felt nervous about wearing it, especially if it was something flashy or that would call attention to her. This dress isn't necessarily either of those things, but it is something different for her. Femininity, for her, was generally saved for special occasions, like events or dates, but this is her everyday look (cause she's an anime character and doesn't change clothes lmao). It's little steps like this that she's hoping will help her feel okay with making more important steps forward in her life. It's okay for change to happen, and for the first time in her life, she's glad to feel in charge of that changing.

The look itself is inspired by a number of different things from her game. The colors of her dress are the colors of her goddess, with feathers and fire also being a symbol of her Lady. The flower crown is an element of her druidic side, which she doesn't want to lose in this new embracing of her cleric side, so she has the permanent, metal crown. The bangles are a gift from her girlfriend, who had received them from her father as a symbol of devotion (her GF still has more of her own lol).

My favorite element of this is the fire rings on her horns, which actually have a minor enchantment on them. Part of this change for Saube was being more honest about her emotions, opening up more and knowing when to ask for help, and these little rings are gonna help out with that. Essentially, they're mood rings! They are constantly glowing and the fire will change and flicker different colors based on her emotions and how strong the emotion is. Real excited to play with those.

Gamora and Nebula - tied for first place because prickly, traumatized assassin women? that’s my shit. prickly, traumatized assassin women working through their issues TOGETHER and growing closer as sisters? YEAH, babey! that’s the shit! I love them and they deserved arcs that loved them, too. biggest injustice in the MCU.

Thor - absolutely excellent. amazing work. distinguished slut vibes and a radiant beam on sunshine in this shithole world. again, never saw Endgame, but he deserved better.

Sam Wilson - going strong since 2014, babey. just an all-around great guy, good for him finally getting his own show. will I be watching it? absolutely not. not a force on god’s green earth could make me care enough to pirate a marvel television show in this the year of our lord and savior 2020, even if he is a very cool dude with wings. 

Bucky Barnes - all the fun of Steve but no moral quandaries because everything bad that he did happened when he was being controlled by nazis and he feels really bad about it uwu

Peter Parker - yes OBVIOUSLY the movies did Peter dirty, we’ve all seen a fucking essay about it, making him Iron Man Jr was wack and being poor doesn’t look like that, but he’s cute and fun and I like Tom Holland, who was the emotional anchor who forced me to keep giving a sliver of a shit during Infinity War. Far From Home was pretty not good but would I see another Spider-Man movie? fuck, maybe.

Steve Rogers - idk I just think he’s neat. really love how he’s shaped like a dorito and hates nazis.

James Rhodes - I don’t think Rhodey’s ever said or done anything that wasn’t iconic and for that he deserves to be exactly one spot above his idiot best friend.

Tony Stark - I hold possibly the most unpopular opinion on Tony Stark on this entire hellsite, which is that he’s just fine. he’s fun sometimes, he’s irritating sometimes, he made some points during Civil War. he should probably lose more points for being a former war profiteer but if I started digging into comic book logic too much I’d have to change my url because Batman cooperates with cops and endangers children, so idk.

T’Challa - I don’t remember a TON about T’Challa’s actual personality because it’s been like 4 years since Black Panther came out and he had like 2 lines in Infinity War, but he’s a powerful nerd/jock multiclasser who spends most of his time surrounded by women who are very smart and dangerous and much cooler than him and I really respect that.

Natasha Romanoff - Natasha is difficult to rank because for a long time her dominant defining characteristic was being The Girl One, which means she has a different personality in pretty much every movie, and it was never interesting. if Marvel had rubbed two brain cells together and given her a solo movie between 2012 and 2015 she might have fared better, but alas. press F in the chat for Nat’s potential.

Groot, Rocket, Drax, Mantis - I love these funky socially incompetent aliens. more of them, please.

Bruce Banner - only interesting in Ragnarok when he’s Thor’s anxious comedic foil and boyfriend; thank you for that small gift, Taika. I never saw Endgame because I love myself, so I don’t know anything about professor Hulk and I don’t want to.

Peter Quill - fun in theory but loses points for being such a painful walking embodiment of the extremely heterosexual “idiot manchild gets hot competent gf by virtue of being white cishet protagonist man.” shut the fuck up she’s way too good for him.

Wanda Maximoff - despite all of Joss Whedon’s best efforts I really liked her in Age of Ultron and then my love for her just decreased with each subsequent appearance. like Natasha she was increasingly a different character each time; by Infinity War she didn’t have her accent anymore as if Elizabeth Olsen realized nobody else on set would remember or care about Wanda’s previous portrayals. on god I liked her so much that I was even down to root for her and Vision but then the majority of it happened offscreen and lost me forever.

Hope Van Dyne - cooler than Ant-Man but not by much. should have been a lesbian and kissed Pepper Potts in the moonlight.

Summary: Tom is finally ready to meet your family, or so he thinks…..

When you started dating Tom, you made it pretty clear that you didn’t want to pressure him into meeting your family

Because let’s be honest, they could be a little much and you didn’t want to scare him off

So Tom was the one who brought up the subject when you were getting ready for bed and you were not expecting it at all

“Hey, love? I think I’m ready to meet your family.”

You almost choked on the air, not sure if you heard him right

“Did you just say meet my family? Because once I say yes, there’s no backing out. I mean it.”

“I’m sure you’re exag-”

“No, I’m serious like they will hunt us down. We’d have to move to Siberia.”

Once Tom managed to convince you that he was sure about meeting everyone, you called your mom and asked if the family could get together

She was ecstatic, since you talked about Tom all the time and was lowkey mad she hadn’t met him yet

But now she gets to plan a mini family reunion and she was thrilled (also a wedding in her head but who needed to know that?)

“Um, my mom just called my entire family.”

“What?”

“Yeah, you get the full experience baby”

Tom was stressed for weeks, he just couldn’t sit still and he wouldn’t stop asking about your family

“Baby, you’re freaking me out.”

“Well, I’m freaking out! I’m meeting your entire family, this is stressful!”

You eventually had to hold him to calm him down, Tom humming when you ran your hands through his hair, the reunion forgotten for now

But that only lasted a little while, pretty soon Tom was researching every member of your family for information

“Love, I sincerely doubt Great Aunt Alice is going to be there.”

“Um, you don’t know that. She might, and I want to be able to talk about beekeeping if she is.”

“Tom, she’s been dead for five years. I think you’re safe.”

Tom went so red, you couldn’t stop laughing, him pouting as you threw your head back

That is, until he got his revenge by tickling you until you cried laughing

When you came back from work one day, the living room was a mess of papers and post it notes with Tom right in the middle

“Tom?! What is this?!”

“Oh, hey babe! Just some notes I took on your family. This was the reduced version, I had to cut it down because I couldn’t find the couch.”

“THIS IS THE REDUCED VERSION?!?!”

You made Tom clean up while you made dinner, rolling your eyes every time he said you were mean for making him move everything

“There was an order to it!”

“Yeah, well I want to be able to see the TV so we don’t all get what we want.”

Tom stopped being a baby once you made him his favorite food, though he did force you to watch Love Island with him which was unfortunate

Finally the big day arrived and Tom was an absolute wreck ™

Like I’m talking tripping over things, yelling about losing a cuff link, missing shoes kind of crazy

You had finished getting ready a while back, and for the first time Tom took longer than you

“I can’t find my wallet!”

After you found his wallet under a pile of clothes on the floor, Tom wandered over and put his head in your lap

“I’m so nervous, I don’t want to mess this up.”

“Tommy, you’re not going to mess anything up. My family will love you, okay? Just be yourself and I promise it’ll go perfectly.”

You stroked his hair for a little bit, his face nuzzling your neck and pressing soft kisses to it until you realized you needed to get going

“You ready? Or should I call in Tan France for a last minute makeover?”

“Shut up, you’re the worst.”

Tom tried several times to convince you to cancel and stay home with you, and his kisses were really convincing

Not to mention how hot he looked in his black jeans and fitted shirt

But you knew that your mom would actually murder you if you backed out now, so you took Tom’s hand and led him to the car

Halfway into the drive, Tom gasped so loudly you almost had a heart attack

“We have to go home! Now!”

“What? Why?”

“I forgot my notes!”

You laughed and kissed his hand, telling him that there was no way you were turning back now and he needed to just focus on having a good time

Plus there was always good food at these things, which made Tom a little happier

When you pulled into the driveway, Tom looked pale as a ghost

He was shaking a little, his hand on your thigh and his head resting on your shoulder

“Hey, it’s gonna be okay. I promise.”

You kissed his forehead, smiling when he leaned over and kissed you sweetly, pouring all his love into it

At that moment, you knew that no matter what happened next, you wanted to be with him forever

“Wanna go inside?”

“Let’s do it, darling.”

As you expected, the door was open and you were immediately bombarded by the noise when you walked inside

Tom held your hand tightly, a little afraid of it all but he felt better with you by his side

He loved you so much, he really wanted this to go well

There were kids running around the place, waving lightsabers and giggling at each other

Tom grinned when he realized one of the little boys was wearing a Spiderman costume, nudging you softly

“That little guy’s got good taste”

“Why am I in love with a five year old?”

Eventually you found your mother outside in the backyard, talking to one of your aunts that you couldn’t remember the name of

Thankfully, she walked off before she saw you

“Oh neat, that was Aunt Celia.”

“What? I told you I did extensive research.”

Your mother finally noticed you too and practically squealed

She crushed you in a hug while Tom smiled from the side, loving how close the two of you were

Then she turned your attention to Tom, and he sucked in a breath

“And you must be Tom”

Tom couldn’t do much else but nod, realizing everyone had stopped talking and was now looking at him

“Um, hi Mrs. Y/L/N.”

“So what do we think?”

You facepalmed as you realized she was addressing everyone there, asking if Tom was good enough

Poor Tom was so scared, still holding your hand and trying to read everyone’s expression

After what felt like a million years, someone finally yelled and the place erupted into cheers of approval

Tom almost cried tears of relief, smiling when your mother hugged him and the family crowded around him

“Welcome to the family, Tom. And please, call me Y/M/N.”

After everyone got to meet Tom and analyze him everywhich way (which he took like a champ for you), they herded the two of you into the house to eat.

People were still talking to Tom left and right and he tried his best to keep up, but he would barely finish answering a question before someone else piped up.

Your hands were entertwined the whole time, and Tom was grateful for that or he may have been sucked away into the crowd

The table was all set, but how your mother did all this for everyone you’d never know

Tom sat next to you, laughing when the little boy in the Spiderman costume asked for an autograph

“Sure thing, little guy. What’s your name?”

“Alex!”

“Wow, that’s a great name! I think it’s even better than Peter!”

Little Alex practically screamed and ran away, clutching the autograph and showing all his cousins. They were snatching at it, staring with wide adoration at Tom who winked at them.

“You just made their entire life”

“It was worth it, they’re your family”

At the head of the table, your mother and father stood and clinked their glasses to make a toast

“So after years of nothing, our little girl finally brought someone home”

You rolled your eyes as the table laughed, Tom chuckling when you blushed from the attention

“And we can’t be more happy with Tom. As long as you make Y/N happy, and I can see that you do, we all love you.”

“As long as you don’t break her heart, because then we’ll hunt you down!” Your father said, giving Tom a fatherly glare. The table cheered at that, and someone clapped Tom on the back.

But it rolled right off Tom’s back, because all he could see was you in rosy soft lighting smiling at your family and kissing his cheek

And in that moment, it was everything to him

God did he love you and everything that came with you, protective family and all

“I love you.”

“I love you too, Tom”
