Plot wise, it's not that important tbh 😭 it definitely gives some insight as to why Ryan is the way he is, if anyone cares about the reasons, but yeah the short answer is just that I felt like writing it.

Danny as a ghost is so powerful. Like our boy can walk through walls, disappear, and fly! Do you even grasp how much more unique he is than the others guys??

Jokes aside just imagine if you will. Danny could leave batburger cups next to Batman all the time (he comes back later to toss em out of Big ol B doesn’t)

Like hell we talk about Danny just showing up basically stalking the heros but ok hear me out. He didn’t mean to figure out Batmans identity ok but he was in the right place at the right time and over heard some stuff. Now he follows Bruce Wayne around instead. Always spitting out if a batburger cup. Maybe Bruce makes eye contact with him and one time Danny just leans his drink out to as one does to offer a sip xD the man is horrified.

For the ?Robins? The other bats maybe he leaves gifts of sorts. Stuff they would like made from his ice or something. He can understand becoming a hero young and most (if not all) of them did that. He plays favourites with the younger Heros for sure. But hes still making them have there “God?? Is that you” moments like everyone else.

Hell he could follow Superman around and always make his cape flow against the wind and the Hero wouldn’t know wtf is going on. Maybe Superman hears a very slight snickering maybe but the prank is harmless enough so why worry too much. I mean it’s probably bad someone can do this without getting detected till they give themselves away by laughing but nothing harmful yet. (Yet would emphasise Batman)

I don’t know anything about GreenArrow but I assume he uses a bow and arrow so I could imagine Danny grabbing his arrows and making them fly in crazy wild paths before hitting their mark.

Idk honestly how he would fuck with GreenLatern besides like using his ghost powers to try and one up his ring. Like Lantern makes a shield? Danny makes a better one next to it or in front of it. Tbh it’s actually helping Danny get better at his powers so he does this a lot rip Hal (I did not know he was played by Ryan Reynolds maybe ill watch the newer movie)

He refuses to mess with Wonder Woman because the Phandom has told me she is his fav thus he refuses to prank her. He respects her too much and is a huge enough fan that hes too nervous to even approach. Thus she thinks she is this pranksters least favourite since she is never bothered.

Aqua-man (thx for the correction siri) is pretty fun to prank because Danny can follow the man underwater. Idk anything about science of it but imagine Danny like making a space he can talk in with his ice powers (making a bubble of sorts) to make spooky noises at ?Arthur? (R we seriously going with Arthur in this one?) like I assume without actual fish related powers, or with them I havent seen any thing aquaman, you can’t talk underwater. But also if Danny figures out his real name hes 100% gonna be playing the Hey Arthur theme at this man all the time.

He just lowkey overshadows cyborg. Not in a controlling way but just along for the ride kinda way. He was gonna make remarks about his tech but ended up being stunned by how good it is. “Fam I aint gonna lie. I came here to follow you around and make comments like a streamer but your tech is crazy cool. I mean you could have saved a little room with a more compact cooling unit but I mean this is probably some of the best stuff I have seen outside my family!” Or something idk. Maybe he goes full on antman in coldwar

As for the Flash thats pretty simple. He doesn’t let the Flash run from him. I don’t think Danny could keep up with the Flash at all. Like man cants have everyones powers (can’t he tho) but he just hangs on and pretends to have followed. I mean hes invisible the whole time so not like anyone can see lmao though if (idk who the flash is? So ill use Barry cause thats why google say) if Barry goes too fast he might get Danny to give up the game cause boy is on the side vomiting. Barry is pretty smug about probably being the first to throw the prankster for a loop but Danny is just on the side like “how can you go that fast and not be sick dude”

Like tbh I was gonna just make a list of pranks he pulls on Batman but yall seem to enjoy the Justice League so here go off I guess.

Chapter 17: Muddy Waters

Also fun fact, this was the third chapter I ever wrote for this story. I didn’t write them in order lmao.

The noise in the bunkhouse was deafening. The gang was playing their nightly poker, and it got rowdy as always. Especially with Avery involved. On any given day Stella didn’t mind the cacophony. She grew up around it. The volume of the bunkhouse was comforting. Home.

Today on the other hand it was overwhelming. She laid in the bunk she always nabbed, trying to read. She couldn’t get comfortable and she definitely wasn’t able to stay focused. Letting out a frustrated breath she dropped the book in her hands to the mattress.

“It seems like the attitude is hitting more than just Kayce lately,” Jake mentioned in her direction from across the house. Ryan looked between them from underneath his eyebrows to gauge how aggressive his little sister was about to be. He didn’t want to jump in unless needed.

“Oh shut the fuck up, Jake.” She paused as she sat up and the realization hit her that he mentioned Kayce. “Wait Kayce’s home again?” She stood up to walk toward the table.

Ryan nodded. “Yeah. He’s been home since the other day.”

Stella weighed the tone her brother used. There appeared to be something else there that wasn’t being said. With everything that’s happened recently, it didn’t sound like a good thing. She raised an eyebrow. “Like home, home?”

Her brother gave her a look. “At least for the time being, yes.”

She came up in between Ryan and Lloyd. “Does anyone know where he’s at?”

Lloyd offered, “Well the last place I saw him was in the barn. After that, I’m not sure.”

“He was definitely sour today, Stellee. I would probably wait,” Ryan warned her.

Stella was already putting her forest green Carhartt on to go in search of her best friend. “If there’s anything I’m good at, Ry, it’s being an ear. I’ll be just fine.” Grouchy Kayce didn’t scare her. She just wanted to help her best friend. She patted Ryan’s shoulder and made her way out the door.

When it closed behind her, everything went still. She closed her eyes and let her shoulders drop with a deep breath. One of the many things she and Kayce shared was the desperate need for tranquility. It gave just a brief moment of respite from the chaos. No matter if that chaos was internal or external. No manufactured noise, no rushing. Just the sound of the wind and the beat of a heart that slowed to match the breeze.

Stella figured she would start in the barn and work her way around. She had a nagging feeling he wasn’t far, but he also wasn’t close either. She heard a wolf howl in the distance behind her. If she had to go out further, she would keep that in mind. Ryan could be pissed about it later.

She rolled her eyes at the quick thought about her brother. Ryan could be such a mother hen. Yes, he was solely responsible for her. Had been since they left home when Stella was 11. She wasn’t 11 anymore, however. He could loosen the reins a little bit. She knew it was just because he cared and they were the last people they had. She just wanted him to see that he had taught her a lot about standing on her own and that she had gotten pretty good at it.

When she opened the door to the barn there were small chuffs and greetings from the horses she walked past. Mainly it was because it was later in the evening and they were trying to figure out who the hell was in their barn. She giggled quietly to herself. The audacity she had to wake them up from their post-dinner sleep.

Stella looked in all the usual hiding places she and Kayce had accumulated over the years, but no such luck. She wandered over to her lovely Abigail. Ryan had gotten her as a two year old for Stella when she turned 16. John had graciously let her keep Abigail at the ranch. Of course she worked hard to keep her there, but John was still kind enough to let her stay. The lively 12-year-old mare was as fierce as they come. Especially when it came to Stella. Kayce had helped Stella break her in. The rest between the girl and her horse was history.

“Hey beautiful baby.” Stella reached out to pet her muzzle. Abigail nudged her gently back. She went in to hug her quickly and looked next door at Kayce’s horse.

She said to both animals, “So he hasn’t gone far, I take it?” She took only a moment to form a thought, and asked the animals, “You wouldn’t happen to remember which way he went, would you?” She rubbed Abigail’s neck and laughed to herself. Kayce couldn’t make the search easy, and she wouldn’t have expected anything less.

She turned out the lights in the barn and came to stand out in the quiet. If she couldn’t directly find him, she would let nature tell her where to go. She heard a wolf howl off in the distance to her right again which was in between the foreman’s house and the bunkhouse. She heard some fluttering of night birds to her left toward the big house. There was a little grove of tall, but bushy pines that blocked the view of the foreman’s house. Kayce was there. He had to be. It’s where she would have chosen to go on foot if she was looking to be by herself and partially secluded.

Making her way to the tree line, she heard a wolf howl again. This time closer. To her intuition, that meant she was going in the right direction, but it also put her on edge. She was by herself, no assurance that Kayce was actually in here other than a hunch, and had no weapon or self defense. Now she understood why Ryan was still over protective. She could be so forgetful. She would have to tell Rip in the morning that wolves were close by.

With her shoulders squared and a deep breath to give her courage, she crossed the tree line and made her way to the most central point. The furthest spot away from everything. She listened closely to the twigs that cracked and the pine needles that crunched under her feet; making note of anything that sounded dangerous. She breathed shallowly. The air came out in little puffs between her lips making it feel like she could hear better.

Sitting there on a downed tree in a little clearing was Kayce. She let herself breathe a bit more normally. She stopped to look at her best friend and her eyebrows pulled together and her face dropped. He looked as if he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. As if the god Atlas had handed over the mantle to him.

Her lips pursed. “Hey cowboy.” He whipped around at the sudden intrusion of her soft voice. He immediately relaxed when he saw it was Stella and stood to meet her. He wrapped her in a hug. She always loved getting hugs from him, but this one felt different.

“Kayce, what’s wrong?” She squeezed him tight and stepped back to get a better look at him holding onto his arms. His eyes looked swollen from what she could see in the dark.

“Nothing’s wrong. I’m fine, I promise.”

She scoffed. “You’re not okay, my dude.”

“Yes, I am, Stella.” Kayce sighed loudly. He sounded stuffy.

“Yeah, sure you are.” She scrunched up her face and huffed. “You’re lying to me. Why?”

“Because it’s not your job to be worried about me.”

“That’s rude as hell considering I’ve worried about you for 13 years straight. For every second of every day because I know you and your reckless abandon. It’s my job to be worried about you because if I don’t, you won't.” She crossed her arms indignantly. “Only myself or your wife will.”

He got defensive. “You should just go back to the house. Not everyone wants you to be up their ass all the time.”

Stella’s eyes squinted as her eyebrows pulled together at his attitude. Her brother hadn’t been lying when he said Kayce was irritable today. “I was coming to say hi and check on you, but if you wanna be a jackass about it, fine. Come find me when you pull your head out of your ass, Kayce.” She shook her head, muttered, ‘unbelievable,’ as she walked back the way she came.

Stella was almost to the line of trees that went back into the wooded area from the little clearing when she just barely heard, “Monica left me.”

“I’m sorry, what.” It wasn’t even a question. A flat tone of shock held her voice as she whipped around.

“Monica left me. She said she didn’t think it was safe for her or Tate. Didn’t think I was safe for her or Tate.”

“Shut the fuck up.” She ran to him and gripped him tightly again. “Shit you know what I mean, but what the fuck.” She fixed her glasses. It was quiet between them for a few minutes. Neither of them really knew what to say. Stella was gobsmacked, and it was very safe to assume Kayce was blindsided. Kayce was probably the second person, after her brother, that she felt completely safe with. She couldn’t understand Monica’s logic.

She now felt bad that she had bit back at him so hard. He had taken his anger out on her, sure. But she also wouldn’t let the subject drop. ‘Takes two to tango.’

“Do you wanna go on a night ride?” She inquired quietly. It was her peace offering. They both had been asses, but they could fix it this way. She hoped. She looked down at the ground and pushed through the pine needles and dirt with her foot. She slid her glasses up her nose and brought her head up to avoid them sliding down as fast.

While Stella looked anywhere but at him, Kayce studied her. She had put her hands in her back pockets. Her brown hair was pulled up in a bun, as usual, and some shorter strands fell into her face. She was wearing her dark green jacket, the one he had gotten her for her 17th birthday.

He knew he had been a jerk. He hadn’t meant to take it out on her. She was just trying to do what Stella did best. Help. Even with the acidity he had thrown at her. Here she was. Still standing by his side in all her loyal glory. He had always been able to count on her to be somewhere in the wings. Lee hadn’t been joking when he said where there was one, the other wasn’t far to follow.

Stella finally looked up at him and he was reminded of the first time her wild eyes met his. At that time, he was 16. He wanted to be anywhere but stuck with some random 14 year old girl he didn’t know. He had wanted to purposely annoy her to see just how much fire actually lived behind those eyes. Little did he know, she would become a major constant in his life.

He felt like they were those kids again. “Fuck it. Let’s go.”

The pair raced to the barn and hurried to tack up as fast as possible, laughing and giggling all the way. They flew out of the barn. They galloped off toward the river that ran through one of the pastures and into the park. Kayce and Tank had gotten the drop on Stella and Abigail. The good thing about that was that she had held Abigail back for about three quarters of the way.

“Don’t hold back girl, cut those boys off.” Stella leaned forward and felt Abigail unleash her legs beneath her. Slowly but surely they were coming on their opponents. She was almost worried that Kayce was holding Tank back. That would be just like him.

“Don’t you dare try and dirty cheat me out, Kayce!” She shouted as they raced by. Stella could see the river just up ahead. She pushed her mare faster, trying to cut off the last few hundred feet. Kayce and Tank came running up beside them.

“No!” Stella refused to tie. “Hell no! I met the bank first, you shit head!”

“You’re such a sore loser, Stell.” They both hopped down and Stella was ready for a fake war. With her shoulders squared, she stalked forward.

“I’ll show you a sore loser, cowboy!” She went to swipe for his hat, but Kayce ducked and weaved around her. He grabbed her around the waist and spun her.

“Kayce stop, I’m gonna vomit!” He slowed to a stop after a few spins.

He squeezed his fingertips on her hips, “Do you give?” His voice was husky behind her ear.

Stella cleared her throat. “For now. But my girl and I still won.” She gave him a quick jab with her elbow while turning around. She stuck her tongue out as she backed away from him to put space between them. He swatted at her with one of his reins and she squealed, and ran back to Abigail. She adjusted her glasses and laughed.

“So are we gonna be here for a while?”

“Maybe?” Kayce wasn’t too sure himself.

“Okay well I’m gonna take her saddle off for now.” She broke down the saddle and leaned it against the base of a nearby tree. She let Abigail stand ground tied. She watched Kayce as he finished breaking down Tank. It was just like old times when they would run away for the night and come to this spot. Especially when things got to be too much. She smiled affectionately at the memories. Stella could see the weight was still there on his shoulders, but he seemed lighter. This was hopefully just the thing he needed right now.

Stella heard the rushing of the river. Deciding to go sit at the edge of the bank, she sat and breathed in deep. The mountain air would always and forever bring her peace.

“Hey, Kace, come sit.” Stella said softly. Kayce sat his saddle down against the same tree as Stella’s and walked over. “Pop a squat.” Stella patted the ground next to her. He took the invitation and plopped next to her with a groan. “Those bones are gettin’ old, huh?”

“Stella…,” he sighed, “shut the hell up.”

She laughed. “Oh you love me Kayce. What would you do without me?”

“Probably crash and burn.” The mood became heavy. Stella knew that without Monica or herself, his hotheaded devil may care ways and rocky relationship with his father, surely would have run him into the ground by now.

The air got still. The only thing to be heard was the late night forest noises, their horses, and the river. They leaned toward each other letting their shoulders touch. Instantly they both relaxed. Stella’s head leaned toward his shoulder as a pillow. It was a comfort thing. They had done it since they were young. The pair always seemed to make physical contact somehow at some point.

She thought back to when she had first met Kayce. The wild eyed young buck that had absolutely no fear in him.

Rip led Ryan and Stella out to the stables to get his horse from Lloyd. Stella couldn’t come along for the work day, but thankfully Rip and Lee had a babysitter in mind.

Rip glanced at their new wrangler. “Ryan, say goodbye to your sister. She’s going with Kayce for the day.” Rip moved to stand off to the side as Lee brought Kayce around into the stables.

“Kayce, Stella. Stella, Kayce.” Lee introduced quickly. He had a lot of shit to do today, and he hoped these two would stay out of trouble.

“You’re both on barn and feeding duty today.” He looked to both of them as he grabbed his horse, “Kayce knows the ropes. He’ll lead you straight. Isn’t that right Kayce?” He gave his little brother a sharp look. Kayce nodded and watched as his big brother wandered off.

He huffed and turned back around to face the girl he had been stuck with. She was currently petting one of the horses that wasn’t being used today. Her brown hair was in a messy bun, and her side swept bangs were continuously getting stuck behind her glasses.

“Alright petting zoo time is over. Come on.” He walked by her. She screwed up her face behind his back. She was confused as to who he was talking to like that. Since she didn’t fully know where things were, she decided to pick that battle for later. She needed him to show her things.

“Okay so the list board is here,” he pointed haphazardly at the cork board, “everything you’ll need to muck and water is in this room here next to the tack room,” he moved over to the next door on the opposite side, “and this is the feed room. You got any experience with feeding?”

“I mean, yeah. Some. Not much though.” Stella shrugged, “I’m will– ,” Kayce interrupted her.

“Okay well I’ll take care of that. Don’t need any of our horses dying because then I would never hear the end of it.”

“If you would let me finish,” she sighed, “I’m willing to learn the schedule and the amounts here. If you’ll show me.”

“I don’t have the time to show you that. I gotta go do the outside stuff. Then I’ll come back and feed the inside horses.” He left through a side door.

Her face flattened, if she were a mare her ears would have pinned. She muttered, ‘unbelievable,’ to herself.

Stella was brought back to the present by a gentle nudge from Kayce. She glanced over at him with a questioning look.

“Where’d you go?” Kayce inquired quietly.

She hummed a soft laugh. “Sorry I was thinking about when we first met. How we kinda hated each other. Who would have thought we’d be best friends not long after?”

“Oh yeah. I didn’t hate you. I just didn’t want to have to babysit a girl who knew nothing about ranch life.”

“I knew about ranch life. Just not your ranch in particular. You would have only had to babysit me for a few days before I got the full hang of it. I at least had the horse part down.” Stella giggled, “but out of spite, I made you have to keep an eye out for me longer.”

“Wait, you did that on purpose?”

“Maybe?” She wanted to back track, but she had already come this far. “Okay yes. I did. But in my defense I also wanted you to be my friend. You were the only one in the same age bracket. Everyone else was older.”

“I would have done that regardless, sugar.” Her chest tightened at his use of the old nickname.

“Sugar? Damn it’s been a long time since I’ve heard that one cowboy.”

“It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to just be.”

“You’ve had a lot going on. Between meeting your —,” she stopped herself short, “joining and leaving the military, becoming a father. I wanted to respect that.” Stella breathed. “It was bad enough that I came to live with you for like almost a year.” She chuckled.

Stella turned to face him a little better, but leaned back. “Wait, are you trying to say you missed me?” He smiled like she’s only ever seen him smile a handful of times. He looked down. He was bashful. She smiled wide.

“Kayce John,” she started poking his arm, “you missed me! And you’re bashful! What the actual hell? There's gonna be snowfall by tomorrow.”

“Nevermind you asshole.” He gently shoved her hand away and started to stand. He wasn’t actually mad. He was just embarrassed.

“Oh my god. I’m sorry Kayce. Please don’t leave.” She reached out and grabbed his hand. He pulled her up and wrapped her in a gentle hug to give her a noogie.

Stella squealed, “no Kayce no!” She fought her way out of the hug. She pushed and shoved until he gave in and let her spin away. She moved her glasses as the world stopped spinning. Her eyes focused on him again.

“You remember those awful bangs?”

“Kayce shut the fuck up.” They both broke out into loud belly laughs. She had loved those bangs… for about a week. “Why do you think I let them grow out?”

“I think we’re both glad you did.”

Stella swatted at him from a distance, “Now who's being the asshole?”

It went quiet between them. Kayce turned and faced the water. Stella chewed her lip. She wanted to ask about the situation, but she also didn’t want to pry without his permission.

Without missing a beat and while he still faced away from her, Kayce said, “Go ahead, Stella. I know you want to ask.”

“So…,” she started, “What exactly happened? What made her think you, of all people, weren’t safe?”

“You remember what happened with Lee and the cattle?”

“Oh you mean that giant shit storm that gave me several panic attacks and grey hairs about what I was coming home to? Yeah. What about it?”

“I was there, between Lee and Robert.”

“Monica’s brother, Robert?”

“Yeah.” The air was heavy. Kayce wasn’t sure he wanted to admit to her that he had been the one who had killed his brother’s killer.

“What is it, Kayce?”

Kayce sighed and paced along the river bank. She could tell he was contemplating a lot all at once. Stella knew he must be overwhelmed to the max. He was getting more and more agitated the longer he went back and forth.

“Hey, stop and look at me.” She got closer to him. He stopped, but his breathing was labored like a caged mountain lion. “Kayce, you can tell me. I’m your Huckleberry, remember?”

Kayce took his time and really surveyed her. He needed to know if he could really trust her. Yes, he understood he could trust her with his horse, with his truck. He knew he could trust her with the life of his child. But killing a person? His wife’s brother? That was a completely different ball park of trust. Hell, he hadn’t even technically told his wife until today.

“Stella, please don’t get angry when I ask this. Can I 100 percent trust that what I tell you stays between us and this river bank?”

“Kayce. My god. You’re acting like you killed someone. Yes. You can trust me. Who am I gonna tell?”

He suddenly became very serious. His voice was low and didn’t waver. “No Stella. Can I trust you to not say anything? To anyone.”

Her shoulders dropped and her eyebrows pulled together. “Yes Kayce. You can trust me. When have I ever given you any doubt?”

He breathed and remained quiet. She had never given him any kind of doubt. About her friendship, her intentions, nothing. His jaw clenched as he decided whether or not to make the ice cold plunge. It was one that he may or may not be able to come back from in her eyes.

“I don’t wanna lose you too.” He said in a small quiet voice.

“Kayce, I don’t think there’s anything you could do that would make me leave. I might take a lap around the ranch, but I won’t leave.”

“I killed Robert after he killed Lee.” Kayce said it so quickly, she almost missed it. Her jaw dropped open with a snap as she looked up at him. “He shot Lee, and Lee was bleeding out, and I just–,” Stella started to be able to hear the unshed tears wavering in his voice as he cut himself off. A wave of nausea hit her at the thought that Robert killed Lee. She couldn’t help but feel like that had potentially been on purpose. She knew Kayce’s brother-in-law wasn’t fond of Lee. Or Kayce for that matter.

The blood rushed through her ears and melded with the sound of the river. Her vision unfocused on the moving water in front of them. Her mouth remained open, trying to breathe in as much oxygen as it could. She couldn’t believe what she heard. She couldn’t believe it, but on the contrary, she could. She knew that if it had been Ryan and her, she would have done the same thing and vice versa.

“Stella, please say something. Anything.”

She looked up at Kayce and made direct eye contact. Her jaw was still open. Her mouth started to move, trying to find words to say, but she struggled to find them. She struggled to even find sound.

“Fuck.” She whispered. “What are you and Monica gonna do? What are you gonna do? What if the cops catch wind? What if–,” Kayce interrupted her diarrhea mouth.

He put his hands on her shoulders. “We’ve already taken care of the what ifs.” He faced away from her again. He was almost ashamed he dropped this on her, for her to carry. “As for me and Monica? You know, I don’t really know. I’m flying by the seat of my pants here.”

Stella watched Kayce face the river. It was like he was begging for answers from the running water. She frowned. Her heart hurt for her best friend. Oooh I didn't know about that one! Interesting if true, especially if Sara was the one to tell this to Shane since I guess at that point in time all three of them spent a lot of time together so she would know when they went too far. It's also interesting to me that Shane and Ryan are playfully mean to each other all the time so they wouldn't even realize this. That's what you call being in their own world and having terms of endearment/ways of expressing affection that sometimes are not understandable to bystanders, even if the bystander also has a close relationship to one of them.

I also find this fascinating, I think it was mentioned once in a livestream maybe? That Ryan was going through a breakup back then and was meaner than usual on a postmortem/in a bfu ep and that was noticeable to others but since him and Shane are never sincere and always joke around it's hard to say when they are mean for real. I think it's also fascinating that in their big fight after gf ep 1, the most noticeable thing that something was wrong was that they didn't talk to each other for a week. And that's how their coworkers knew that Ryan was really mad at Shane, just silent treatment and not really talking. For a person that makes a living of his friendship and talks to Shane all the time, that must have really stung, no wonder they mention this years later as their one and only big fight.

I have SO MANY thoughts about the trainee lol, I almost wanna revive my youtube channel & pump out a video 😆 honestly the trainee had SO MUCH potential. I came into this show with no expectation apart from jane being hot af & offgun having flawless chemistry as always, and for most of it it actually blew me away by having a way deeper meaning than anticipated. the exploration of finding yourself & your career at the edge of entering the workplace was honestly really relatable and probably my favorite aspect of the show. I once said the trainee had some of the best writing I had seen from a gmmtv show... but sadly it didn't stick the landing for me. I feel like from ep 9 or 10 the writing really degraded slowly, although there were still very strong scenes in those eps. I HATED the 5 years timelapse in the finale, I've criticized the trope of sending a character abroad for years before but here I particularly hated it bc it honestly kinda destroyed jane's character imo? he was the greenest green flag ever, absolutely obsessed with ryan... but he's gonna ghost ryan & then come back and tell him he's leaving the day after & still kiss him?? and then not come back for FIVE YEARS and not even contact ryan during that time?? that's insane. jane could've easily went for a master degree in thailand & this whole trope was so bad I hated it, I feel like they just went for the easy way out. however, yes, the whole taebahmeejudy storyline was deffo the biggest flop of this show. I think it was obvious that the audience was gonna root for judy & bahmee more bc same sex couples are almost always more popular in the thai fandom, and also the show built up judy & bahmee's chemistry so much. even once bahmee & tae broke up, I personally thought bahmee should've spent at least six months single to learn to be by herself before jumping onto judy, but the storyline that just bc judy was slightly overbearing 3 times, bahmee decided to ditch her & go back to tae... was insane. also I think tae was a really weak character who benefited from being played by sea who's super beloved, but lowkey the only great tae scene is when he drunkenly scolds jane in the last scene of the show (and that's bc it's OOC & frankly should've been a pah moment.) but the whole situation felt unfair for everyone & I hate that judy's feelings were never explored after she cried once & then she was just shown to be okay like??? I don't think the writers accomplished what they set out to do at all. and also they focused SO MUCH on that love triangle that it robbed janeryan from being much more developed, be it the drama with nine or seeing ryan back with his family & tao-hu in the later eps... at the final ep fanmeet, pompam asked piploy what she would do if she were in bamhee's shoes, and piploy hesitated a lot but mentioned the idea of "what's right" before choosing tae still. so maybe it's a cultural difference bc tbh the whole crowd was cheering when tae proposed to bahmee during the fanmeet while I (a hater) was rolling my eyes lmao. so yeah overall I loved janeryan & pie & pah and there were so many amazing scenes, but... I SO wish I could turn back time, barge into the writers room and hijack the writing process for this show to make it stronger towards the end lol. it's definitely offgun's weakest show so far apart from puppy honey, but I still enjoyed it and, yes, sobbed like a little bitch when it ended 💚

Frozen genuinely works SO MUCH BETTER as a stage show then it does as a movie, probably because with musical's you have a lot more time to unpack everything, and Frozen is a VERY heavy story. Anna and Elsa's trauma is given so much more room to be explored in the musical because it doesn't need to be condensed for plot progression. We're allowed to just pause everything for like 3 minutes just to get a glimpse into what's going on in Elsa's mind, which I feel we really didn't get enough of in the original film. The extra time also gives them more of a chance to flesh out Anna and Kristoff's relationship, which, while I still think pairing them off at the end was unnecessary at BEST, does at least make them getting together make more sense then it does in the movie. They were also allowed to lean into the darker aspects of the story a lot more, since parents are less likely to take their kids to see a broadway show than they are to take them to a movie theater. The horror Elsa feels at the prospect of hurting people, or more specifically Anna, again is touched on so much more in depth in the musical. She also like, actively contemplates suicide that one time? "Do I kill the monster" - Elsa, in reference to herself. That would NOT have flown in the movie, I'll tell you that much. They're also allowed to be much hornier??? Which isn't necessarily a good thing, more neutral all things considered, but it is funny so I'll count that as a plus lmao.

Weirdly though, despite all the extra time, they did not take a minute to properly foreshadow Hans being the twist villain. Which you knew I had to bring it back to because complaining abt that fucking plot twist has been the only thing I've done in this fandom so far. In fact, I'd say the reveal is almost WORSE on stage, because they can't use all those camera angles that help build tension in the movie, and because the twist is so out-of-left-field there's literally no way to know it's coming unless you've already seen Frozen, which tbh I think the people that intially adapted the movie for broadway might've taken for granted. They took the time to give Hans his own solo number with TWO REPRISES, but don't take a moment to show the audience that he's actually the bad guy until the "if only there was someone who loved you" moment. Tbh it's kinda ironic, since the Hans plot twist is the #1 thing people tend to have a problem with in the original movie. My biggest issue with the Hans plot twist overall is that it really clutters the movie and just feels like a weird aside that distracts you from the actual. Plot. But since they have more room to work with it in the stage show, it didn't have to be that way! If they had revealed Hans' true intentions during, idk, maybe the end of the first Hans of the Southern Isles Reprise, it would've helped build tension in the later scene, because WE understand that Anna is in danger, but SHE doesn't. But alas, complaining about writing chocies you didn't like on the internet won't change them, so I am forced to look on the bright side. What is the bright side, you may ask?

ANYWAY continuing with the "time-accurate" clothing choices, I'm hoping it's more obvious with loey and neas this time. You have no idea how RELIEVED i felt when i saw neas' third overhaul was in the 2000s. I love details but I have been working with suits for like 30 designs by now.

Because I did these back in october I don't really have proper ref images but if you googled men's fashion for each of their respective eras you should get pretty good results and if you don't im sorry💀

Not sure if it's obvious but they're supposed to "age" with every overhaul, yea im aware my ability to draw people older than 40 is nonexistent-

On that note, I have a more in-depth hc for how the "human" of an engine appears which would explain how loey and neas can "age" but the short version is the "human" is a combination of the maturity of an engine's mentality and the engine's actual age

I do not know enough of the Skarloey Railway lore to back my headcanons but I hc that during their early days, the SR was more strict with appearances, hence the suit jackets and whatnot (kinda like how RWS SR engines all have the same livery)

Towards the SR's later days, the change of directorship and the increasing diversity of their rolling stock led to much more relaxed regulations on appearances. The jackets that the overhaul 2 designs are holding would look similar to the jacket that overhaul 1 loey is wearing, which would bear the engine's nametag and the signature red shoulder pad designating an engine's gauge

Also the nametag and specifically the number badge were details added later when I finished my handel and petah designs, yes I love it a lot that's why i mentioend it.

Overhaul 1 neas is particularly different from overhaul 1 loey because for one they're two different decades, but also the time between his first and second overhaul was when neas had to run the line on his own (not to mention the world war woah...)

I haven't really figured out specific height hcs yet but neas and loey are around the same height as each other but grow a tad with each overhaul

first of all, i'm not sure if you're new to watching the show alltogether or just the tumblr fandom, but welcome! we're quite tight knit here but i'm sure you'll have a great time! <333

as to your question: there's a lot of reasons i'm confident that this is leading to buddie; honestly, there's been a lot of evidence over the years which tells us what's happening, and it could be an essay in and of itself. i'll try and summarise a few of the key points of evidence that, in my opinion, tell us where things are going (this will contain spoilers for any new fans of the show!!):

in eddie's very first episode (2x01), we see him for the first time on-screen through buck's pov. here, as we see eddie on screen, the son whatta man plays as eddie pulls his shirt on in slow-motion. to a lot of us, this is indicative of instant attraction/interest on buck's part, and gives us a major clue that something is happening here

in buck, actually (2x08), one of the main calls we see on the episode involves a gay couple, thomas and mitchell. when mitchell is pronounced dead, thomas and buck are sat on the ambulance and having a conversation, which goes as follows:

thomas: we only ever wanted to...to go together. that's love. buck: i'm sorry. i really am. i guess i can only hope to find something that good. thomas: you don't find it, son. you make it.

the idea that you don't find your love story, you have to put in the effort and make it becomes a recurring theme between buck and eddie. they manage to construct their own family unit consisting of themselves and chris over the years. the idea that they are a family already feeds into several different plot-lines over the years, perhaps most notably eddie's issues with ana and their eventual break up:

in episode 1 of season 5, eddie has a panic attack over a shop assistant thinking that ana was chris' mom. later, when he's talking to buck about it, he mentions how they became a ready made family...i'm not sure if i'm ready for that. when buck and eddie have been making their family for years now

eddie's entire breakup with ana was very queer-coded. honestly, watch the scene here, but ryan acted his absolute ass off and the entire thing reeks of eddie being a queer man at his core

honestly, one of the biggest bits of evidence we got in the first place was buck being confirmed as bisexual canonically. this allows us to thoroughly go back through and recontextualise a lot of interactions between buck and eddie over the years. two key scenes are the will scene (4x14 survivors) and the well scene (3x15 eddie begins). both of these scenes show buck and eddie in moments of vulnerability with one another, and show that their connection surpasses the connection which they have with anyone else

side note - i watched eddie begins yesterday, and the entire time eddie is drowning at the end of the episode, his life flashes before his eyes. all of this is chris, but a good chunk of the scenes also have buck in them.

again, there's a lot more i could point to, but these are the main things which stick out to me right now! i hope this answers your question!

obx dr: my family is lowkey complicated so ima try and break it down best i can. i have my mom (fc/vc: constance wu), my stepdad (fc/vc: ryan reynolds), and my little stepbrother (fc/vc: adam project era walker scobell).

my moms name is clarity miyazaki, and i literally love her to death shes so amazing. we can and will talk abt literally every and anything. she's super chill, and is a stay at home mom, but sometimes will voluenteer at an aquarium on the mainland. we used to live over on the cut, but literally my whole mf life changed after she met my stepdad.

so my stepdad in this dr is literally just, like, ryan reynolds. like he still acts and everything, but he's not with blake or anything. him and my mom met and got married when i was in 4th grade, and we moved into a house with him and my little brother on figure eight. he's also really chill as a parent and is super funny, and sometimes brings me on work trips or to cool events.

my little brother's name is walker reynolds (don't even) and he's mostly based off of a combo of young walker scobell and one of my cr friend's little brothers. he's 11 and is very snarky, and loves jj with all of his entire heart. sometimes he's a little shit but i love him anyways.

i'm not really connected with my mom's side of the family (they r all in japan lmao) but my stepdad's family is really nice and fully treats me like i'm one of his kids, so it's okay.

mha dr: god i feel like i've talked about my mha dr family/backstory so much but i cannot help if for i am but a girl so buckle in.

my father (aka takami) was not the best (see hawks backstory) and despite having a wife and 5 year old kid (tomie and kei) ended up getting a woman with a nocturnal quirk (not his wife) pregnant. my bio mom died right after i was born, so he had to raise me. me and kei ended up getting pretty close despite being half siblings with a 6 year age gap, and just refer to each other as siblings atp.

kei got scouted by the hspc when i was 9, and moved him to a long-term facility when i was 11. i ran away a couple months later due to being neglected (shit mom), and lost contact with my entire family for a little over a year. i was pretty much mia for that time, and by sheer fucking luck ended up in a warehouse fire. kei was one of the heroes on the scene and recognized me. long story short(er) he filed to become my legal guardian, and he's pretty much the only bio family i have left.

rumi's like my older sister in a lot of ways, and is just chillin in our apartment more often than not, and i've gotten really close with 1/2-A since starting UA, so i'd consider them family, even though we're not like blood related or whatever.

I didn't mind about this interview till now that Ewan saying Luke's death might be revealed no incident, yet we know that Aemond didn't meant to kill Luke cause we can clearly ear him yelling at Vhagar to stop and obeys his orders he also yells no! When Luke gets eaten, so it's not Aemond's fault and then why saying that? Teasing something i think. What if Daemon is actually the one responsable of it by singing that lullaby, and did it, in order to make war happening and get his own revenge?!?! Must admit the timing is also suspicious. Daemon falls out with Rhaenyra cause she wants no war, and few sec later, Luke is dead. He would be capable of it, he doesn't give shit about Rhaenyra's bastards, to him they're no family either, but more acceptables than Hightowers, till the moment they don't get in his way. (The scene with Jace was rivals vibes) He would be perfectly capable to sacrifice them all to reach his goal, without blinking an eye. Im sure of it, so if Ryan might plan that, it's mindblowing. Daemon revealed to be THE Villain of the series and the cause of the Dance, cause killed Luke to start the war, plus Blood and Cheese to make sure the war would implode. Can you imagine the shock of Daemyra shippers?? 😭 They do nothing but trying hard to prove 24/7 Daemon loves Rhaenyra, but if he would be revealed the huge backstabber, their ship is buried under the most deep ground lol Personally i don't care about ships and if Ryan is planning that would be great plot twist. Not to mention Daemon might be the biggerst manipulative Master mind, perhaps even surpassing Little Finger and the shock Aemond would have learning everything horrible happening so far from both factions is his uncle's fault, obviously revealed by the end during God's eye battle. This theory is one of the most intriguing around. I like it. What do you think?

I don’t remember that interview, but then again I stopped paying attention to a lot of those interviews they put out towards the end.

I’m going to be honest while you obviously put a lot of thought into this, there is no way Daemon killed Luke. He was nowhere near either Vhagar, Aemond, or Lucerys to manipulate things to bring about the latter’s death. Singing to Verimthor(he's trying to make the dragon easier to claim) wouldn’t trigger Vhagar to go crazy and kill Weak Boy #2.

He just happened to get “lucky” in terms of timing and let’s keep in mind that while show!Daemon is far from being an idiot he’s way too reckless and impulsive(especially when he’s angry) to be able to pull off Little Finger moves(well early season/book!Little Finger moves). A master manipulator he is not.

In the books, Luke’s death is not an accident. Aemond straight up started chasing after Luke on dragonback with the express intention of taking his eye dead or alive.

Originally in the show they were going to go with Aemond smirking in reaction to Luke getting got(keeping it book-compliant that his death wasn't an accident), but at some point during production that got changed to this:

Honestly they can write off Aemond’s expression here as realization that mommy is going to be pissed off at him rather than actually regretting killing Luke. I mean he was cackling and chasing him down with a weapon of mass destruction 10 seconds before that so how much regret could he possibly feel?

What did he possibly think could happen when he hoped on Vhagar's back? They were going to play patty cake and hold hands after he took out his eye🙃

Back to Daemon being the big baddie of the series.

*I think it should be noted that in the books Daemon was trying to avoid bloodshed and was much more diplomatic and a voice of reason. He’s not the big baddie and even though he is not presented in the best light in the show, he’s a far cry from being the villain.

Ryan Condal himself has stated that Daemon is a gray character(there is still hope for him if they don’t screw over Dettles and follow canon when it comes to their relationship; Nettles is his light and his redemption so to speak).

The show's “villain” appears to be the patriarchy itself which Daemon is a part of, but he’s a cog in the machine like Otto, Gollum, Corlys, Aegon, and all the other men. If someone is looking for the cause of the Dance it’s Gollum, his lusts, and his inability to parent his children.

I don't think there's a universe where Charity doesn't introduce Igor to her friends. Perhaps a little sooner than she should sometimes too. I think they all react quite differently too.

Wilhelm would be all “oh my god you’ve got a boyfriend how exciting!” and then seconds later he’s all “is he really good for you though? Such a violent brute, if I were you I’d be worried he’d hurt me! What a horrible thought!” We’ve already established that Wilhelm and Igor do not get along and Igor would hate hate hate to have to be near him.

Aurora would be excited on her behalf but it would be very lowkey. She also doesn’t get the whole congrats on relationships sort of thing but she’d be happy that Charity is happy. I’m not sure how they’d react to each other, honestly I don’t think Aurora would say a whole lot to him but she’d have a little chat with Charity later on.

Severus already knows Igor, they’ve got a weird kind of friendship in a similar way as to how Severus and Charity has a bit of a weird sort of friendship as well. I don’t imagine Bruce to be particularly close with Charity so I don’t see him getting directly introduced though I do see him sharing a dorm room with Edmund and Edmund being the little complaining bitch he is would totally mention it. Edmund is an interesting case. Charity thinks they’re besties but in reality Edmund has a fear for women and he would really just like to avoid Charity. She just doesn’t let that happen. Edmund also does not care for Igor. He thinks he’s stupid and obnoxious and loud and it’s incredibly unfair that Severus now shares a room with him after being assigned as his little Hogwarts buddy because Severus shared a room with Edmund first!!! (My all time favourite Sev ship is Sev and Edmund and with crownest also being a thing sometimes,,, well, let’s just say Edmund sometimes had a lot of reasons to not like Igor). Edmund’s main reaction to being told they’re dating is just “and I should care.. why??” Charity would giggle and say he’s silly and pat his shoulder and Edmund would wiggle off to the Slytherin showers like some worm while considering if he should burn the part of his uniform that she touched.

My Edmund is to put it lightly a little bitch lmao. There’s so much to him. He’s a homophobic homosexual who’s engaged to an equally homophobic lesbian. He’s afraid of women and yet considers himself so much better and purer because he’s abstained from being with one for so long.

He grew up an only child in a Jewish home and he is a complete mummy’s boy. He copied his father in every way possible and he’s the spitting image of the man except for his mother’s light hair and her eating disorder. He dresses like he’s from a time twenty years ago and he speaks like he’s from the 1800s. He calls his fiancee a church bell and probably also a hedge-creeper. He wore round glasses and his hair slicked back like his father’s and his body is riddled with beauty marks. Picture Harold Lloyd with beauty marks and you’ve got him honestly.

He thinks he’s better than everyone else. Like the slippery little snake he is he constantly manages to escape trouble. His father has taught him that you are only as powerful as those you associate with and Edmund sticks to that so much!! This is seen in canon with how he evades getting thrown in Azkaban by claiming he was under the imperius case and getting away with it. Only when Voldemort rises again does he return to him because now power is once again within reach. It’s unknown whether or not Edmund escapes the second war without getting captured but I would not be surprised if he did.

It’s also noted in canon that he had an evil sense of humour seen with how he and Bruce tormented Mary together to the point of Lily bringing it up to Severus. In his adult life he’s cowardly and weak and slightly incompetent though I don’t think these are his only traits. I think those are just the ones that come out when he’s in a situation where he’s under pressure. Interestingly both Sirius and Lily have spoken about him with less disdain than they have for his remaining friends which makes me assume they does not consider him as much of a threat and perhaps more so a bother which honestly I think is so funny.

His favourite subjects in school were Arithmancy and Ancient Runes and he was an obnoxious know it all when it came to both. He’s got the most horrendous unreadable cursive writing that he got from his father and Slughorn curses to himself every time he’s got to correct his homework. He would carry around thick books everywhere he went and the fact that this kid was considered popular in any capacity is wild, but he had an aura of confidence and entitlement that allowed him to get away with much more than he should have been able to.

He was a whiny child, always sticking to his mother’s side rather than playing with other children despite his father having plenty of friends with kids he could have played with. He’d rather drink tea with his mummy or play in the pool with her. He hated getting dirty and still does and would come crying to his mother after getting a paper cut as if someone had chopped off part of his finger. He remained close with his mother for all of her life but their relationship was tainted by her alcoholism as he grew older and realised what was going on. Still, he named his first daughter after her.

And then there’s his relationship with Severus and his homosexuality of course which is,, oof that’s a whole other bag of worms. tbf, she also was picking sad songs in April when Matty and her were supposely so happy. And when she sung the songs her and Joe wrote together and the ones about him she also teared up at times or looked mad or dissociated it. I find it hard to believe that was all Matty aswell. I like the little added stuff at the start. It's a cute touch.

Jack and Crutchie actually looking at a physical picture during Santa Fe (Prologue) was a cute touch. They have such good chemistry.

Crutchie showing fear when getting his papers from the Delanceys because it was right after they pushed him down was a nice touch. It makes sense! We love continuity!

I love the parts where they're running in the crowd because they run in front of the camera and you can hear each individual member as they pass it. It's just kinda funny.

I'm liking the chemistry with Jack and Katherine a lot more in this one. His flirting being more playful (my friend described it as "boyish") definitely helps their chemistry. She seems to be more amused than creeped out, and it just helps it feel more authentic.

Ryan's Davey is so lovely! I think his version has definitely become my favorite by FAR. The way he holds onto Les is just so cute.

Final Thoughts

I think this one definitely topped Toursies as my favorite. Everyone had such good chemistry! Jack and Katherine's relationship felt much more authentic!

Davey's arc felt more authentic as well. I love everyone who has played him before, but Ryan definitely understood the assignment with this one. Davey is supposed to be very reserved until he realizes that there's a fighting chance, and that's exactly how he played him!

The original choreography (original compared to the bway/tour/recording choreo that's mostly the same if not identical) was so clever and well done! The little moments they added were also really nice touches!

They blew it out of the water with this performance, and I'm so happy that I finally got a chance to watch it!

I think this production officially holds the title for my favorite versions of the characters and the show! This is definitely one I will be watching again!

How’s the 911 of it all going

It's going well. I've been binging (because I do not know how to watch a show normally rip) for most of yesterday and today and just finished 2x10. First impressions are as follows:

Abby was my favourite and the most relatable (as someone who is also a carer to their mother) character of season 1 and I miss her dearly. Idk if this is unpopular but I am surprised (derogatory) that the Abby/Buck story gone on as long as it has. I think it started well as a 'they were both looking for something that the other encompassed in theory but not necessarily looking for each other in reality' story but I really thought that after a bit it was going to end up with them realising they worked better as friends and then having Abby leave for her adventure.

Athena is the character that has grown most on me. While obviously it was rough for her and I sympathise with that, it took a bit to get over feeling like she was making Michael's coming out about herself while trying to say that it was for the family, even long after the children had accepted it. But that is coming from a spot where myself and a lot of queer people I know had our coming out either delayed or otherwise altered by others making it about themselves so I understand that that is in part a me problem. Her trying to solve all of the cold cases because of that little girl that went missing when she was a child is so interesting and I imagine that will come back later in the series which I'm excited for.

On the note of Athena and Michael, I understand that Bobby is a main character but I do wish they'd put as much, or at least more, focus on Michael's relationship. Like even with the homecoming photos, they got Michael's partner to take the photo so Bobby could be in it rather than someone else so they both could be.

I was surprised Eddie didn't show up until season 2. It's also lowkey hilarious that he acted like he had an 'affair' with his wife. Like I get that they were estranged but yeah it was just funny. Overall I think he's my favourite male character and I love the family dynamic between him, his aunt, his grandmother and Christopher.

It was also hilarious that I thought we were getting a rivals/enemies to lovers story for all of about 2 seconds with Buck/Eddie before Buck was p much like "actually no I am in love with this man" (Maddie saying "does this mancrush mean that you're over Abby?" took me out because older sisters always know lmao).

I want to wrap Maddie up in a bubble and never let anyone touch her again. Like I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable but as someone who came from a background of domestic violence and has had to escape another (friendship) situation of abuse, god she is so relatable and I just love her. Like I would go to war for any of these characters but especially her.

As a whole, I was wary about starting this show knowing that it was a Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk project because the last thing I watched of theirs was Glee and well... let's just leave it with we all know how off the rails that went. But so far this feels fairly stable. I was surprised to find as a whole it wasn't one fire/crime/emergency of the week but typically 3. I think this has its pros and cons and admittedly I do think it works best when they all intertwine like the earthquake episode did, but it's something different and I applaud them for that. I also feel like everything has good setup, even the 'little' things. Like sure at face value May saying "Everyone at school will know" when Michael comes out can be seen as her making it about herself and being worried about the unrealised potential of bullying but when you find out that it's just another thing she can be bullied over and that the bullying already was that bad, it makes total sense that that's where mind went.

Anyway this has become super long but the TLDR is that I'm enjoying it and interested in where it could go.

omg i don’t know if this was ever spoken about on here but some people figured out how the whole story about harry/emrata/olivia thing unfolded and who leaked it but it depends on what you believe about them.

her friend who posted the rat story told some guy called ryan bailey who has his own podcast. people were able to figure it out because he said he was hanging out with someone (that friend and ryan follow each other) and they told him that + he said they told him things he couldn’t say too.

the story goes that harry and olivia were technically on a break or broken up but still talking and stuff and she didn’t mind if he was hooking up with other people because he’s a man blah blah but the door wasn’t fully shut.

he said that she only cared about emrata because they were friends and she had confided in her about harry and emrata did the whole “you’re better than him, fuck him!” routine.

he said they (h and o) literally talked the day it happened and after it happened because the video didn’t come out until later and he (harry) didn’t mention it at all.

funniest part: emrata reached out to her and was like she thought she was more sexually open and wouldn’t mind her doing that but sorry if you’re hurt and olivia was like wtf???? 😭😭
