𝗬𝗢𝗨’𝗩𝗘 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪𝗡 𝗦𝗢𝗢𝗡𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗔𝗬𝗦 𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗡 𝗜𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗗𝗜𝗔𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗪𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗞𝗡𝗘𝗪.
Your mothers, best friends since middle school, had moved into homes right next to each other after getting married—and when they ended up pregnant at almost the same time, it was inevitable that you and Soonyoung would grow up side by side. Suffocating hugs, sleepovers, lazy afternoons, holidays—spending time together has been part of your life since forever, and as you grew older, you couldn’t even imagine a life without him.
But now, twenty years later, innocence and diapers are the furthest things from your minds. As Soonyoung pulls up to the Beta Chi Sigma frat house, excitement crackles in your chest. One night. You gave yourself just one night of fun, to forget about your overdue bills and tuition, the creeping exam session, your exhausting part-time job, or your empty side of the fridge in the cramped, rundown apartment you share with six other girls in the bad side of the town.
You just… can’t wait to get absolutely fucked up on this random Wednesday night.
Your starry-eyed gaze flickers toward the frat house, and before you know it, you’re running toward the entrance, laughter bubbling up as Soonyoung chases after you. Jihoon, one of your closest friends, follows at a slower pace, catching the keys Soonyoung tosses his way, already accepting his role as designated driver for the night.
The front entrance is crowded with students, conversations weaving through cigarette smoke as laughter spills into the night air. Just as you reach for the door, fingers tangle effortlessly with yours. You don’t even need to look. You already know it’s Soonyoung.
The moment you step inside, chaos engulfs you. The house is packed—bodies pressed together, music booming, voices yelling in hopes of being heard. Someone in the living room is absolutely butchering a song into a karaoke mic, while a crowd has gathered around a guy on the coffee table, watching him take a gravity bong rip like it’s the coolest, most interesting thing in the world. (Which… okay, you admit it’s kind of cool to see.)
Barely five minutes in, and your eyes are already stinging from the thick haze of smoke—just like always. Still, you manage to spot your group of friends gathered around the beer pong table. Grinning, you tug excitedly on Soonyoung’s hand, waving your free one in the air to catch their attention. Jihyo and Jinsol notice first, waving you over, but just as you take a step forward, a ping pong ball comes hurtling toward you. You dodge it just in time—Soonyoung, however, is not so lucky. It bounces off his forehead with a soft thwack.
“Ow! What the fuck?” He immediately slaps a hand to his forehead, eyes darting toward the culprit—Mingyu, who is very clearly trying (and failing) to stifle a laugh.
“Sorry, dude. My bad,” Mingyu chirps, utterly unapologetic.
By the time you and Soonyoung reach the table, Mingyu pulls both of you into a bone-crushing hug before handing you each an ice-cold beer, whispering that he saved them just for you. The gesture makes you smile.
From the corner of your eye, you spot Jihoon approaching Jinsol—the only one of your roommates you actually get along with and the same girl he somehow managed to charm just a few months into freshman year. They’ve been together for so long now that the man who once swore he hated PDA is currently all over her, hands not-so-subtly roaming as he presses a chaste kiss to her cheek.
You grimace at how disgustingly sweet they are.
Love, in your experience, is more trouble than it’s worth. You stopped believing in the idea of it after your ex—a complete waste of your time, though you couldn’t see that a year ago. Not until you walked into your own apartment to find him on the living room couch with one of your roommates. The same roommate you still share an apartment with. The same one who still pretends as if nothing happened. The same one who still has the audacity to act as if you’re friends.
Shaking off the thought, you perk up as Minghao and Seokmin push through the crowd, Seokmin lugging a massive neon-green vat of jungle juice while Minghao balances a stack of red Solo cups.
“Ah, the good stuff,” Soonyoung sighs dreamily.
You, on the other hand, nearly gag. If by good stuff he means liver-destroying liquid poison, then sure. And yet, you already know you’ll end up drinking it anyway. That’s why you’re here, after all—to embrace the full college experience, which your best friend refuses to miss out on. Case in point: he’s already downed the beer Mingyu handed him and is now eagerly reaching for the jungle juice.
“I give him twenty minutes before he’s trying to backflip off the counter,” Jihyo murmurs, slinging an arm around your shoulder, her beer can clinking with yours.
“That’s awfully generous of you.” You grin, chugging some of your cold beer before speaking again, “I give him no more than fifteen.”

To give him some credit, it takes your ever-lightweight best friend about an hour before he’s halfway onto the counter, loudly announcing a “sick trick” he’s about to show everyone. Thankfully, before he can follow through on whatever terrible idea is brewing in his drunken mind, Mingyu and Wonwoo—another frat boy who arrived at the party not long after you—spot him just in time and haul him back down to solid ground.
Soonyoung groans in protest, squirming in their grip. “You guys have no vision.”
Mingyu scoffs. “We do—and that vision includes you with a concussion if we let you go.”
Wonwoo just sighs. “At least let me place a bet before you try to break your skull.”
You shake your head when Soonyoung dramatically sits on your lap and throws his head back on your shoulder. You grimace at how sweaty and sticky (due to all of the alcohol he spilled on himself as you all played a myriad of drinking games) he feels, but still, you don’t push him off, taking the opportunity to shove a water bottle into Soonyoung’s hands. “Drink.”
He pouts at your commanding voice, even lightly kicks his feet, but takes a sip nonetheless, muttering something about being the undiscovered ‘parkour king’, and for a moment, you catch yourself finding the pinkish, drunken dust on his cheeks adorable.
Mindlessly, you run your fingers through his spiky hair, and you think he might've actually calmed down when he practically melts on top of you. That is, until Seokmin and Minghao reappear, eyes gleaming with mischief, their hands full of full shot glasses. The clinking of them is enough to tear your best friend out of the calm daze he was in.
“Oh, no,” you mutter.
“Oh, yes,” Soonyoung grins, jumping up from his (your) seat as he reaches for a shot.
You don’t even try to stop the inevitable as Soonyoung downs another shot, his grin stretching wider with every sip of alcohol. He hands you another shot glass, his hamster-like eyes shining with anticipation, and even though you know you should refuse, given that at least one of you should stay somewhat sober, you don’t. With a sigh and a half-hearted smile, you knock it back with him.
The liquor burns on the way down, but it’s a welcome distraction. Until now, you’d barely touched anything besides the beer Mingyu shoved into your hand when you first arrived. Not because you didn’t want to drink, but because no matter how hard you tried to just… let go and have fun with your friends, it was almost as if your mind was stopping you from being carefree.
And the way Jihyo, Jinsol, and Jihoon have started giving you these small, fleeting glances—ones that make you wonder if they’ve noticed the slight dip in your usual energy. If they’ve picked up on the way your laughs don’t come as easily, the way your smiles feel a little more forced.
You don’t want them to worry. You don’t even want to acknowledge it yourself.
So, you do the only thing you can do—you drink.
Another shot. Then another. The warmth spreads through your veins, numbing the edges of your thoughts, and you let yourself get swept up in the dizzy blur of it all. The music, the people, the easy laughter—if you focus hard enough, maybe you can forget, even if just for a little while.
But then you catch sight of Soonyoung.
He’s swaying slightly, eyes unfocused as he laughs a little too loudly at something Minghao said. His grip on his shot glass is loose, like he might drop it any second. He looks gone.
You frown. Maybe you let things go too far.
Without another thought, you push through the crowd and grab his wrist, ignoring his startled yelp as you tug him away from the drinks table. “Alright, that’s enough for you.”
“Wha—” Soonyoung stumbles slightly but lets you pull him along without protest. “Where are we going?” he asks, though he’s not really resisting, just letting you guide him through the crowded house. He trusts you.
“Somewhere you can’t make a fool of yourself,” you say, dragging him toward the quieter side of the house.
He pouts, looking adorably confused. “I never make a fool of myself.”
You snort. “That’s literally your entire personality.”
Soonyoung gasps dramatically, pressing a hand to his chest. “I can’t believe you’d say that to me, your bestest friend in the whole universe.”
Rolling your eyes, you tighten your grip on his wrist and keep moving, weaving through the mass of sweaty, drunk students, until you finally reach the balcony.
The night air is a relief against your warm skin as you push open the balcony door, stepping out into the open space. A few people linger around, some engaged in quiet conversation, others taking slow drags from their cigarettes or passing a joint around. The scent of smoke mingles with the crispness of the evening, less suffocating than inside the party.
Soonyoung stumbles slightly as he follows you out, still pouting but too drunk to put up much of a fight. You guide him toward the railing, fishing out a half-empty water bottle from your bag before shoving it into his hands. “Drink,” you command.
He groans but obeys, taking a slow sip before scrunching his nose. “Water’s boring.”
“And yet, you need it,” you say, tipping your own bottle back for a long drink. The coolness soothes your throat, washing away the lingering burn of alcohol. You sigh, tilting your head back, eyes tracing the outline of the moon.
You should feel better now that you're away from the noise, but your thoughts are still buzzing—too many worries tangled up in your head. No matter how much you drank, how hard you tried to drown them out, they clung to you stubbornly. You wonder if Jihyo, Jinsol, and Jihoon had noticed. If they could tell you weren’t entirely you tonight. The thought makes your stomach twist.
Absentmindedly, you gaze down at your phone—until a notification appears, making your stomach twist.
REMINDER: YOUR TUITION PAYMENT IS PAST DUE. PLEASE SUBMIT PAYMENT IMMEDIATELY TO AVOID LATE FEES AND ACCOUNT HOLDS.
Your breath catches. Swallowing hard, you lock your phone and shove it into your pocket, willing the panic to stay buried.
“Oh? You two?”
You turn your head just in time to see Seungkwan approaching, his eyebrows raised in pleasant surprise. He’s a freshman—someone you’ve seen everywhere since the semester started. The two of you even exchanged numbers for a history class project, which led to following each other on socials, and through that, you also recognize the guy with his arm around his shoulder, exhaling a slow stream of smoke from a joint—his boyfriend.
“Seungkwan?” you blink, surprised. You hadn’t expected to see him here.
“Fancy running into you,” he says, stepping closer. “Didn’t take you guys for the frat party type.”
Soonyoung, barely processing the conversation, raises his water bottle. “We party so hard.”
You resist the urge to pinch the bridge of your nose.
Seungkwan chuckles. “Clearly.” His eyes flick between you and Soonyoung, his head tilting slightly. “Didn’t know you were a thing.”
You nearly choke on your water. “What?”
Vernon’s clearly amused. He nods toward Soonyoung’s hand—casually resting on your hip, something you hadn’t even noticed. Just muscle memory, the way he steadies himself when he’s tipsy. “Yeah, you two do kinda give off that vibe.”
Soonyoung, still blissfully unaware, just grins and squeezes your hip. “We do?”
Seungkwan nods, suddenly more interested. “Well, if you are, you have to sign up for the Valentine’s Week contest.”
You blink again. “The what?”
His face lights up as he pulls out his phone, already scrolling. “It’s this big event happening on campus. Basically, the hottest couple wins free tuition for a semester and a cash prize.” He turns his phone toward you. “Me and Nonie are thinking of signing up.”
A flyer, bright and bold—Mingyu’s Instagram story.
Hottest Couple Contest! Win Free Tuition for a Semester + $100 in Cash! Show the world you’re the ultimate campus couple through a week of exciting, romantic challenges! Sign up by Friday, February 7th. Details and Requirements below!
Soonyoung leans in over your shoulder. “What the—”
But you’re already moving, your thumb tapping the link obnoxiously decorated with fire emojis before your realise. You expect a joke, some ridiculous gimmick. Instead, a legitimate registration form loads, complete with structured rules, deadlines, and an FAQ that’s way too long.
Your heart stutters in your chest. Free tuition.
Beside you, Soonyoung hums thoughtfully. “Hottest couple, huh?” He throws an arm around your shoulder, leaning in dramatically. “We would totally win that.”
You barely hear him, your mind already spinning. Free tuition. A semester covered. No more sleepless nights spent stressing over money.
Seungkwan squints at you. “Well, are you guys actually dating?”
You don’t think. You don’t hesitate.
You meet Seungkwan’s eyes and, with a practiced ease that even surprises yourself, you say—
“Yeah.”

“Yeah?!”
The second you and Soonyoung slip past the groups of partygoers, finally finding refuge in a dimly lit hallway near the back door, you let out a breath you hadn’t even realized you were holding. The pounding bass of the music still hums through the walls, but here, away from prying eyes, you can actually think.
Soonyoung, on the other hand, looks like he just had three shots of espresso. If he was tipsy before, he suddenly looks very, very awake.
“I cannot believe this is happening,” he blurts out, pacing in a small circle before spinning back to face you. His speech is still slightly slurred, his cheeks dusted pink—though you’re not sure if that’s from the alcohol or something else. “This is, like, peak rom-com behavior. How is this even real?!”
A pang of guilt tugs at you. You did kind of throw him into this whole mess without warning, all because you saw the prize and couldn't think straight.
You stay silent for a beat before you mutter an apology. “I’m so sorry for dragging you into this. If you want, I can just… take everything back, tell Seungkwan I was too drunk to—”
You watch his face fall at your words.
“Hey, no, don’t even worry,” Soonyoung cuts in immediately, reaching for your hands. His grip is warm, firm. “I’m in, babe.”
Your eyes narrow, though you can’t help the small smile forming. “Don’t push it.”
He grins but raises his hands in surrender. “Okay, okay. Serious mode now. We need to see that form and strategize.”
You sigh, already pulling out your phone. “On it.” A few taps later, the contest’s official page loads up, complete with deadlines, requirements, and an aggressively detailed FAQ section. You skim through the details. “Alright… first, we have to apply. Obviously.”
Soonyoung leans in close to read over your shoulder, and you ignore how his cologne (the one you love most on him) makes your heart stutter just a tiny bit. “And then we have to complete a bunch of couple challenges throughout Valentine’s Week,” he murmurs. His gaze brightens. “OH, WAIT—LOOK! There’s a compatibility quiz! We totally got this.”
You glance at him skeptically. “You think we’d score high?”
He grins, all dimples and confidence. “Duh. I know you better than anyone.”
You roll your eyes but can’t fight the smile tugging at your lips as you slowly start filling out the form. You know he’s right.
Suddenly, Soonyoung gasps dramatically. “Oh my god. This means we have to act like a real couple. In public.”
You give him a deadpan look. “That’s literally the entire point of this contest.”
He grabs your shoulders as if this is the most important conversation of his life. “We need a story. How did we start dating? When’s our anniversary? Who confessed first?!”
You frown. “Do people really care about all that?”
“Yes!” He shakes you slightly, eyes wide. “It’s the Hottest Campus Couple Contest, not the We’ve Been Dating for Ten Minutes Contest!”
You sigh. “Okay, fine. We’ll come up with a story.”
“Right now?”
“Yes, right now.”
He claps his hands together, eyes gleaming. “Alright. I say I confessed first. Because, let’s be honest, that’s the most realistic scenario.”
You snort. “Oh? And why’s that?”
He blurts out: “Because I’d totally fall for you first.”
Silence.
The words hang between you, heavier than either of you expected.
Soonyoung’s eyes widen slightly, as if he just realized what he said. Then, he clears his throat a little too quickly and nervously giggles. “I mean—hypothetically.”
You shake your head, laughing softly. “Right. Hypothetically.”
His grin is sheepish, but his cheeks are still pink. “This is gonna be so fun.”
You glance back down at the contest page, your eyes scanning the bold letters at the top. Hottest Campus Couple Contest!
You exhale, locking your phone before sneaking a look at Soonyoung. He’s already beaming at you.
“Yeah,” you murmur, shaking your head with amusement. “It’s gonna be something, alright.”
Then you look back at the rules. “But we have to strategize properly. Looks like there are elimination rounds and a lot of details they’ll be asking for.”
Soonyoung nods solemnly, as if he’s preparing for battle. “Say no more.”
“Tomorrow. My car. Bring a notebook or... something,” you say, pointing at him.
He blinks at you, then grins. Wide. “Bossy. I like it.”
You roll your eyes and push his face away.

you enter the kitchen and find liz and ningning talking to gaon. you walk up to them, still holding onto the now flat cup of beer you had when you first got there. “is that your only drink you’ve had tonight?” ningning asks confused. you nod and try to defend yourself, “i don’t like the taste of beer!”. “y/n you’re literally playing beer pong right now.. how do you not like beer?” gaon asks. “okay just because y/n doesn’t like beer doesn’t mean she can’t be good at beer pong” liz defends. you smile and gently nod at her, silently thanking her. gaon shrugs his shoulders and turns around, facing the table that the beer cups are on.
chenle walks into the room, silently looking around to make sure there’s enough people to play. he smiles and grabs a basket of ping pong balls and holds it out for everyone to grab one. you giggle to yourself when you see liz blush as she grabs one, grabbing one for you too. “alright, who wants to go first?” chenle asks.
after a long 5 minute wait for an uber, you all gathered into the backseat and fought for your life on the way back to the apartment. it took everything in you not to spill all that you drank today, and you thank god you didn’t.
the car arrives at your dorm and you thank the driver before getting help from gaon out the car. him and liz help you and ningning into the elevator, slumped over their shoulders. you rest your head on gaon’s shoulder and sigh loudly, “i wish jisung was there” you slur. “why? it’s not like you talk to him anyway” he retorts. “but you never know!” you say, shooting a finger up into the air rhetorically. gaon giggles and shakes his head at your behavior before helping you out the elevator.
you all walk into your apartment and immediately slump yourself onto the couch, the cool air calming you down. “here” liz hands you and ningning cold water bottles and 2 ibuprofen’s for the headache that’ll come later. you feel yourself become slightly emotional at the way she took care of you, “thank you liz..” you say tearing up. she rolls her eyes and sits down next to you, patting your back gently. “oh boy, don’t cry please? it’s just water..”. you hiccup and drink the water, trying to sober yourself up as much as possible.

all my friends support palestine and know neil druckmann is a zionist
A Kiss for The Ping Pong Champ (#22)
when manny said he was planning on throwing a party that night, he didn’t tell abby that it was gonna be at their apartment. so when she comes back home, covered in mud and twigs from a dumbass mission she willingly signed up for, it’s to a party in full swing and spilling out of their front door. the mission was a basic one and abby got pretty filthy but she’d take just about anything that means exploring zombie filled treasure troves. her side of the room is steadily filling with books and pins and little trinkets. she had her current “best find yet” in the breast pocket of her jacket.
abby first hears the party from the stairwell and she practically stalks towards the front door, tired and irritated but not surprised. manny and abby have both hosted parties in their penthouse apartment plenty of times in varying amounts of success. it’s just abby forgot about it and had made plans with you and now they’re fucked.
she smiles politely at everyone she walks to her bunk. grabbing her shower caddy and some clean clothes, she sneaks back out and into the communal showers.
twenty minutes later, abby is clean and back in the packed apartment. manny greets her with a wave and she responds with a prominent middle finger and a sarcastic smile. he cackles, startling the girls beside him.
she gets herself a drink and finds some guys from the gym that she sometimes trains with. one of them, joe, was defending his poorly made joke to abby and the others when abby sees movement from the corner of her eye.
“uh excuse me please?” abby fully turns to see you scooting awkwardly past a group of people. you meet her eye and grin, shouldering past the last person and are soon within her reach.
“hi,” you breathe
“hi,” abby echos.
you look around the party. “i didn’t know there was gonna be this many people when you asked me to come over. i thought it was just gonna be us —”
abby itches to touch you. the itch wins and she gently puts a hand on your shoulder. you stop talking.
“i honestly had no idea about the party. i’m just as surprised as you. do you wanna leave?” abby looks up to see where manny is.
“no,” you say a little too quickly. “i’m cool with staying if you are.”
you share a smile.
“ok then let’s get you a drink. nothing spectacular but they are interesting.” she leads you over to a table where people are mixing up drinks. she goes past all the mixes and shitty liquor and pulls a small bottle out of a box.
“here,” she hands it to you. “it’s wine. from 1993. you said wine ages well and you’ve been wanting some since last christmas sooo” she trails off and suddenly feels like she shouldn’t know that you like wineries and napa valley history and god she’s so weird but you’re smiling at her so that has to be good sign, right?
“abby, this is amazing! thank you,” is all you say but the relief that fills abby is embarrassing. this time it’s your turn to lead you both to abby’s little corner in the front of the penthouse. everyone is mostly in the upper stairs area, besides nora and leah who wave at you both as you pass by. you sit down on abby’s bed and she follows. a silence passes between you as the party becomes ambience. abby remembers her surprise and reaches into her jacket’s breast pocket. she closes her fist around the item and scoots back so her back leans against the wall and her feet hang off the bed. you follow her movement with your eyes. she makes eye contact with you for a brief second. you note that she looks bashful.
“i, uh, found you something while i was out.”
“yeah?” you turn to sit sideways on her bed, one leg tucked under you.
“you gotta close your eyes first.” you close your eyes and hold your hand out, a big smile on your face. what you can’t see is that abby is easily caught off by your smile and almost misses dropping the mysterious item into your hand.
“okay you can open your eyes now.” you do so.
in your hand is a necklace. a long gold chain and a pendant. you untangle the necklace and hold it up. the pendent is the letter of your first name. the necklace as a whole is in pretty good condition with only a little chip on the pendent.
“oh abby,” you look up and see the girl blushing. “this is so sweet! i love it. thank you.” regardless of how uncomfortable it will be, you lean forward to hug abby tightly. “thank you again, abs” you whisper and kiss her cheek before pulling away.
you quickly undo the clasps and ask abby to put the necklace on you. after a failed attempt of putting it on while sitting, you both stand up. you turn your back to abby and she very ceremoniously places the necklace on you. once it’s clasped you turn back around to face her. you reach up to adjust the pendant so it sits in the middle, by your sternum.
when you look up, abby is already smiling at you. she opens her mouth to say something when someone calls her name.
she rolls her eyes and answers with a reluctant “yeah?”
it’s joe again. “it’s raheem’s birthday and he wants a beer pong rematch.”
“right now? i’m busy.” she glances at you.
“yes now. he heads out on that week long mission tomorrow morning.”
abby closes her eyes and lets her head fall back. it’s raining outside and she can hear the rain above her head. she exhales heavily through her mouth. she looks back at you and you have the most understanding eyes in the world and abby both hates and loves it.
“okay,” she says to joe. “one game and he gets the bad beer and im taking that nice stuff.”
joe holds his hands up. “righto, captain.”
abby rolls her eyes again. she looks back at you. “this okay? just one game and they’ll leave me alone.”
you roll your own eyes but there’s a smile on your lips.
“abs it’s fine. i promise. now go, because i think joe is coming back over here.”
and sure enough he was. abby briefly squeezed your hand before heading up the stairs. you walk over to nora and leah, who have been joined by a happy drunk whitney. they were getting up to join you to watch abby kick reheem’s ass, all of you making up abby’s cheer squad.
the cups and sacred ping pong balls are already set up. you make sure to stand where abby can see you and you can see her. and she makes sure to wink at you before shooting the first ping pong of the game right into one of raheem’s cups. the boy groans loudly and his friends cheer on abby. abby holds her hands up, shrugging off the attention. you bite your lip to stop smiling at her antics. your eyes catch movement as she pulls up the sleeves of her henley to her forearms, making her arms look even bigger. pulling the sleeves up also shows off her bracelet collection. including one that you made her months ago. she’s never taken it off so it’s worn and faded. but the sentiment is still there and it makes your heart ache with love for her.
while raheem takes his time aiming, you continue watching abby as she stretches her arms over her head and twists her upper body back and forth. you suddenly remember that abby just came back home from an overnight mission and there were currently over twenty, mostly drunk, people shoved into her apartment. she’s probably exhausted but putting on a good show for these people that look up to her. you make a mental note to ask her if she wants to come back to your place until the party’s over. your room is smaller but ten times quieter. you continue to zone out a bit, watching abby while thinking about abby as the game continues in front of you.
unfortunately (but fortunately for you) everyone knew the end score pretty quickly. abby had four out of six cups left on her side while raheem had two left on his. the crowd was engaged in the action like it was a tennis match. manny had even moved to stand beside abby as her right hand man. your eyes stay locked on her.
it was raheem’s turn and everyone watches as his ball hits the rim of the cup but bounces away. the crowd groans for him. abby steps up and without even trying, sinks the ball into the cup closest to raheem. the crowd cheers. raheem goes again and makes it. abby downs the cup and wipes away the little bit that missed her mouth with the back of her hand. she picks up a ball and closes one eye to aim it perfectly before letting it go. the ball arches in the air and lands in its target.
the people cheering for abby lose their minds. manny starts to shake abby excitedly. joe and a few of the other boys from before surround her. you hear manny say something about getting abby “a drink fit for champions”. you watch abby smile and joke with her friend until the crowd by the alcohol table blocks her from you.
beside you, nora clears her throat. you stop searching for abby and look to nora.
she’s fighting off a smile.
your brows furrow in confusion. “what?”
nora shrugs. “i don’t know. i just wanna know when did you get thirsty? where did my innocent friend go?”
“what are you talking about?”
“c’mon. you are so obvious. you were practically undressing abby during the whole game. we are in public, girl. have some class,” nora laughs.
you look down. “i’m not undressing her with my eyes,” you mumble. nora scoffs
“i don’t know why you are so in denial. you have the girl,” nora’s eyes move over your shoulder. “and speak of the devil and she shall appear. hey abs! congrats on demolishing raheem! i just know he’s going to be sulking about this in the clinic for months.”
abby shrugs. “all in a day’s work.” she turns to you. “you okay?”
you smile at her. “yeah i’m fine. nora was just bullying me.” you pout. abby’s head swivels to nora who has the common sense to be already walking away with leah and whitney shuffling behind her. “it’s fine. it wasn’t serious.”
abby looks back towards you. “okay…do you wanna get outta here? i feel like if i stay, someone is gonna wanna challenge me again or something.”
“yeah! i was just gonna ask if you wanted to come to my place? ya know, until the party clears out.”
abby blushes. “yeah i’d love to. let me just grab my bag.” she moves to go down the stairs but stops at your hand grabbing her bicep.
“wait abby?”
she stops a step below you. “yeah?”
she is taller and generally bigger than you because of her muscles but having her be a step down makes it easier for you to cup her face and very gently press your lips to hers.
the gentle kiss is met with abby’s own passionate response. she reaches for your waist. your hands go from her face to her neck and then down to her shoulders.
you pull away first. “and that’s a kiss for the ping pong champion”
abby opens her eyes and hums in response. she squeezes your waist and let’s go, walking down the stairs to grab her bag. when she comes back she simply takes your hand in hers and interlaces your fingers.
just like the way she arrived, abby smiles politely at people who say hi but doesn’t stop walking until the sounds of the room fade away and she can only hear you and the sounds of both of your feet along the hallway.
#ITS FUCKING 2K WORDS ??? LMAOOO#if you are reading this — hi 🫵🧡🤍🩷#abby anderson x reader#abby brainrot era#mads’ headcanons#abby anderson x you#abby anderson fluff#the number game#number 22

Headcanons on Kon in the Captain Marvel adopts Superboy AU
Kon is his universes Captain Marvel Junior, Freddy is called Lieutenant Marvel instead
Billy’s age isn’t known, only the Shazamily and Kon know. Plus Tim, Kon told him and Tim makes sure Batman doesn’t figure it out through sneaky sabotage
His jacket has embroidery saying “You’ve been” with Caps symbol on the back with a “Struck!” At the bottom (You’ve been thunderstruck) instead of “Don’t mess with the S”
Does have access to Captain Marvels powers if needed, he’s part of the family so he can call down the lightning, but doesn’t like to because it ages him up and he ends up looking just like Clark
If he is Shazam-ed up his leather jacket becomes double breasted with the thunder emblem taking up most the front and thunder bolts in a belt formation on his hips, other than that his suit stays entirely the same
Civilian name is Conner Elliot Ordway; Conner is obvious, the Elliot is a nod to the House of El, and Ordway is the maiden name of Billy’s mom. The initials spell out CEO which is a humorous nod to Lex. Billy wanted to make sure Kon had a name that honored his family history, as messed up as it is, while still giving his one that’s makes him part of his family and able to be his own person separate from them. Which is why he gave him the last name Ordway instead of Batson, so his identity is completely his own if he wants it to be.
(More under the cut)
Knows Billy is Captain Marvel but still sees him as a great father figure, one who cares about and loves him unconditionally and respects him while also actively trying to be present in his life
Billy models his treatment to Kon as a mix of how he remembers his own dad and doing the opposite of what Superman was doing, which leads to a very loving parent-child dynamic built on respected boundaries and lots of open affection to remind eachother they’re loved
Billy mainly sees Kon as a older brother, Kon sees Captain Marvel as a dad figure and Billy as a little brother when they spend more time together as civilians. It changes based on how long they spend together in one of Billy’s forms for the most part, but mainly Kon sees him as his dad (even if the differences in age are supposed to be odd)
Billy uses the “Pretending to be my own dad” trick with Captain Marvel to get Kon in a high school in Fawcett plus Tim’s stellar “I faked a whole uncle to avoid being adopted” abilities to fake the paperwork
Billy works at Whiz radio and uses Cap in civilian clothes working odd jobs to afford an apartment for the both of them, which is made a lot less expensive when Billy uses that “Powers of Shazam, summon before me (insert desired thing here)” spell he summoned a ping pong table with that one time to cover large furniture
Superman started giving Cap the silent treatment after he learned Conner has been all but legally adopted Kon
Mary is a cool aunt to Kon, both get along well and scrapbook together as a bonding activity
Freddy, understandably, freaks out and is all over Kon the first few months he’s part of the family. Asking about TTK, doing dumb stuff with their powers and arm wrestling to see whose power set is better, asking any and every question that comes to mind. Those two get in a lot of power based shenanigans and hang out a lot in and out of costume
The love language of the entire family is shared time and involves a ton of physical affection just because it’s good to remind people you love them with a hug, Kon is living his best life with all the love and validation he gets 24/7/365
Billy inadvertently catches up with and excels past his age groups study’s after learning what he can as Billy and trying to stay up to date with Kon’s school work to be the parent that can help their kid with homework and does
They go as eachother for Halloween one year, Kon takes a selfie and shows it to the rest of young justice forgetting they don’t know about Billy and when they ask he panics and says that’s his kid brother.
Which tumbles into Batman thinking Cap is CC Batson reincarnated with powers and trying to be a good dad and hero despite the whole death thing and Tim in the background trying not to laugh when he knows Bruce is wrong
(Stuff tied to comic canons)
Captain Marvel disappears for a solid 3 weeks after Kon dies, spending the whole time bouncing from afterlife to afterlife trying to look for him and asking the various death gods he comes across where Kon might have ended up. He doesn’t find him and has to grieve losing his family all over again
Covered every base he could think of looking for Kon’s soul, checked his family’s old faith, Hades because of the Greek ties, Kryptonian gods, a fist fight with Lady Blaze for information but couldn’t find anything. All he knows after that is that either Kon didn’t have a soul (which isn’t true and he refused to believe that), his ghost is roaming around and didn’t move on properly so he’s in a state of limbo, or he’s in some other afterlife and he has no idea what other ones to check for him in. Either way, Billy can’t find him and gets torn up that he lost some of his family all over again
The new 52 has Superboy Prime a prisoner held in the Monsterlands, a realm under the Council of Eternity’s (and Captain Marvel’s) control. Billy makes every day there a living hell for him for the next year until Kon is brought back, and after that all of Young Justice gets a free lifetime pass to pop by and beat him senseless for some Therapy™️. Tim and Cassie got a lot of hits in
When Kon does come back and gets back into the swing of his civilian life Billy worries a lot more and gets a little hover-y as a parent to Kon, Mary makes him earrings and small pieces of jewelry that has protection charms on them, and Freddy checks up on him between classes.
All in all, it’s a family of orphans all in various situations of oprhanhood being there for eachother no matter how weird life gets for them. Sometimes a family is your middle school aged dad, his best friend, his twin sister, a shape shifting talking tiger, and yourself
#he may not have krypto or the Kent’s but he’s got a talking tiger who spends half his time as a plush and a dad who loves him for him#auntie Mary just talking all sorts of girl and witch gossip with Kon while doing eachothers hair and accessories is an image I will treasure#freddy and Kon go to cover band concerts together and rock out with their shared music tastes#billy is the world’s mightiest mortal and worlds youngest dad#Tim just casually knows Cap’s identity and keeps it from Bruce as he’s seething in the batcave trying to figure it out#how does Tim know you may ask? easy! (runs away)#they have a lot of fun#billy getting extra baseball tickets from work and taking Kon where they catch a stray ball#Kon and all of young justice gets baby sat by his dad sometimes for den duty#and Cap is cool since he agrees with them a lot and Kon gets the Kid with a cool dad reputation#Kon has three dad and loves all 1 of them#Kon has two (2) whole batsons go a little emotionally unstable after his death#if Kon ever died again you can bet Billy is finding some way to snatch his souls and throw it back in his body#if he can resurrect his best friends brother after some fate shenanigans he can resurrect Kon#///////#shazam#billy batson#dc captain marvel#captain marvel dc#kon el superboy#kon el#captain marvel adopts superboy#Captain marvel adopts superboy au#freddy freeman#captain marvel#dc comics#dc

When Will You Let Her Go?
Whumptober Day 8: “It’s all for nothing.”
LAURA WHUMP, emotional whump, light whump
DISCLAIMER: I am legally allowed to torment the fictional character of Laura Barton (and Bruce Banner) this month.
AN: You are going to learn a lot about my writing process this month, sorry. Most of the whump fics will be 3rd or 4th round drafts. I normally spend weeks, if not months editing. Many of these pieces will be written days, if not hours, before the prompt is due. please forgive any spelling or grammar errors, or if these don't seem up to my usual standard.
thank you for indulging me tho😘
Summary: Laura calls the kids while they are in New York with Clint and Kate. part 1 of 3
“Hey, is everybody having fun?”
“Hi, mom!” Lila circled around Kate Bishop's penthouse with her phone, making Laura dizzy on the facetime call. “We’re having the best time! Look at Kate’s place!”
Clint was in New York helping Kate get ready for her first round of SWORD training and had taken Cooper, Lila, and Nate with him.
“Summer in New York is sooo much better than the winter.”
“What have you been doing? Where are your brothers?”
“They’re right here.” She turned the phone towards Cooper and Nate.
Laura blinked. She thought she was looking at an arcade. The room was huge with various ping pong, fooseball , and pool tables, along with old, upright video games. Cooper was playing online games on a theater size screen and Nate had VR goggles on, punching and kicking the air.
“Hi Mom!” Cooper shouted, not taking his eyes off the screen.
“Hi, sweetie. Hello, Nathan.”
Nate continued playing.
“He can’t hear you.” Lilia swung the phone back around. “Anyway, we swam at Kate’s friend’s house. She has a pool on the roof of her apartment building!”
“Wow, that sounds fun.”
“Way more fun swimming at the Waverly community pool. We also saw Rogers the Musical again and got to meet the entire cast afterwards.” Lila went into the largest bathroom Laura had ever seen and rummaged through some drawers.
“Thought you guys said that play was silly when you saw it at Christmas?”
“Yeah, but we met some of the actors in Central Park a few days ago, it was really cool. The guy that plays dad does not look like him at all.” She laughed and began putting on makeup. “Ms. Nadia gave us box seats.”
“Miss Nadia?”
“She plays Aunt Nat. She's super nice, Mom, and really pretty. She could be Aunt Nat’s twin; they look that much alike.”
“Is that so?”
“Oh, and she taught me some ballet moves to take back to my class. Ms. Nadia says I should take jazz classes if I want to be on Broadway like her.”
“But, I thought you were…”
“She’s an amazing dancer, Mom. Dad said she can do all the moves from Swan Lake, like Aunt Nat. She said she would teach me those too.”
“Is your dad there?”
“No, Kate is with us.”
“Why? Where did he go?”
“He had to help Ms. Nadia get some stuff for her Black Widow costume. Guess what?”
“What?” She asked, not thrilled with this new information.
Why would Clint need to help the Black Widow dancer with her costume? The play had been running for almost a year.
“Kate got us Taylor Swift concert tickets!! A suite by all of the celebrities. And we get to take a huge purple, Hummer limousine. I can’t wait!”
“You guys are supposed to come home tomorrow.”
“Dad said we could stay a few more days to go to the concert and to the Hamptons with Kate and her friends. It's summer vacation, Mom.”
“I know.” Laura tried not to sound too disappointed.
This weekend was her and Clint's wedding anniversary. The children were supposed to go to their cousin's house to spend the night so she and Clint could have a romantic evening.
They hadn't had much alone time. Since his retirement, Clint had been keeping busy fixing up the house and visiting New York every couple of months to help Kate.
“Come on, please.” Lila begged.
“Lila! Where are you?” Clint hollered in the background.
“Daddy’s home!”
“Home?” Laura balked, but Lila ignored her.
“Dad! Talk to Mom. Shes using that voice when she doesn’t like something.”
“Why?” Clint came in and gave Lila a hug.
“I told her about staying a few days and she has that tone, as usual.” Lila handed the phone to him.
He covered the screen with his hand.
"I'll take care of it." Laura heard Clint whisper.
“Hey, hon.” Clint removed his hand and she saw him check on the boys.
“You’re staying longer?”
“Is that a problem?”
“When were you going to tell me?”
“When I got back here. Didn’t know the kids were going to call you.” Clint walked down a long hallway to a massive kitchen.
“I called, she emphasized the 'I', “ because you were supposed to call me at noon.”
“Kate, where’d we put the putty?” Clint hollered to his protege somewhere in the penthouse.
“Clint!” Laura yelled.
“What?”
She blew out a breath loudly.
“It’s only our anniversary this weekend.”
“Oh, yeah. Happy anniversary, babe.”
“No, this weekend…”
“I’ll send you some flowers and New York candy. The kids and I went to Dylan’s and went crazy.”
Kate came into the room.
“Tell Cooper to finish his game, we gotta go.” Clint said.
"Is that Nadia? Tell her our matching shirts for the concert came in"
“No, it’s Laura.”
“Oh, hi, Laura!” Kate stuck her face into frame and waved.
“Hi, Kate.” Laura tried to muster some enthusiasm.
“Cooper, get Nate and let's go!” Kate bounded out.
“Clint.”
“Sorry, sorry.” He finally looked into the phone. “What were you saying?”
“So, when are you coming home?”
“I changed the flights to Monday.”
“That’s almost another week.’
“It’s not like the kids have school.”
“I thought we could spend our anniversary together.”
“Seventeen years, it’s not one of the milestones.”
“That’s rude.”
“I mean,” he rolled his eyes, “our daughter has a once in a lifetime opportunity to see her favorite singer at Madison Square Garden in premium seats. For free. We could not afford to do this for her. Do you really want to make her come home so we can go to Applebee’s?”
“I guess not.”
“She’ll think you’re the best mom for letting her stay.”
“Well, let me talk to her one more time.”
“She’s already out the door with Kate and the boys.”
Laura didn’t hide her annoyance.
“I promise she’ll call you tomorrow. We have to go meet Nat and the others. Have a good time with your girls.” He set the phone down.
“What did you say?”
“Have a good time." He picked it back up but all Laura could see was walls. "I’ll tell the kids you miss them. Bye, hon.”
“Wait…”
He hung up.
Laura stared at her phone for a long moment before flinging it on the bed. She gathered up the little, black nightie she’d bought for this weekend and shoved it back in the bag.

Imagining a version of TBBT that doesn't make fun of academically inclined STEM nerds but of tech bros who went into STEM primarily to make money. It's called "The Market Equilibrium Theory" and the main source of humor isn't that Penny isn't in their geeky subculture, it's that she's a waitress with worker class consciousness while they're capitalist true believers who are getting exploited but think they're superior to the rabble.
---
[Cold open, we are in Leonard and Sheldon's apartment] Leonard: ...and so if the market has decided that the work of nurses just isn't worth more than $15 per hour, it must be correct. [Audience laugh track] Sheldon: Interesting! And if hospitals started filming all operations and giving their patient data to tech companies, I'm sure they could train a neural net to perform heart surgery and it would save them even more money. [Canned giggles] Leonard: Yeah... it would be best if they made that dataset available to everyone so as to encourage competition. [Audiences absolutely loses it]
[Penny enters the room] Penny: Guys my car broke down again and I'm late for the union rally, can you help me? Howard: Heh, if you had studied in a STEM field you could pay some halfwit to repair your car instead of asking us. Penny: Yeah and I could build a robot arm to shove up your ass! [Canned audience laughs and cheers] Penny: Btw I'm dating an art history student now. Raj: Tzk, he will never have a high-paying job! [Audience giggles, Penny rolls her eyes] Penny: You guys don't have high-paying jobs either. And I have dental, unlike you. [Offended noises by Howard and Raj] Penny: Ya you mainly get paid in free pizza, a 1% stake in that ethically questionable start-up you're working at, and access to a ping-pong table at work! [Howard looks comically peeved and exasperated] Howard: But... that's all part of the grind Penny, I will definitely be a millionaire before I'm 35! And... and the ping pong table has cool LED lights! [Penny gives him a disgusted stare, audience laugh track, intro starts playing]

August 29th
Fiery green eyes were lit ablaze as he stormed down the hospital hallways, clad in light blue scrubs that he’d long gotten used to. He threw his hair into a low bun as he walked, ready to intercept the incoming patient.
The EMTs burst through the door just as he got there. “Seventeen year old male. Went down playing basketball ‘bout twenty minutes ago,” one of them said with urgency as they wheeled the gurney further inside.
Lola took the other side as they wheeled him through the hallway. “I’ve got no pulse!” Lola called out. Kyle barely registered himself relaying that the boy was cyanotic as adrenaline surged in. “Did someone page Dr. Norris?!”
As they passed a nurse, Kyle grabbed her attention. “I need x-ray, pulse ox, and a central line now! And the biggest needle and syringe you can find me! We’re doing this now!”
Further calls for Dr. Norris could be heard over the PA system but Kyle had practically tuned it out as he stopped, Lola and the EMTS stopping with him. He made quick work of prepping the patient’s chest. “We should wait for Dr. Norris,” Lola urged.
He took the syringe from the nurse he’d previously yelled at, taking a small deep breath before sending it down into the perfect spot. He pulled the plunger up and outwards. A quiet gasp met his ears and all he felt was relief. He met Lola’s eyes with a smile. “Fuck Dr. Norris.”
Lola let out a shocked laugh. “Tell Dr. Norris we’re good here,” Lola relayed to one of the nurses.
-
Kyle stepped out of the hospital, exhausted but actually feeling accomplished. Today was a prime example of why he wanted to be a doctor. Lola stepped out next to him, quickly catching up. “That was really cool today. What you did,” she admitted, almost sheepishly. “Wanna come to a party tonight?”
“Oh,” he got out, almost shocked. “Not really much of a party person.”
“Come onn,” she drawled. “Show everyone you’re not an over-achieving pain in the ass.” Kyle made a face. “It’s on a boat,” she tried.
“Thanks, but I kinda have plans tonight.” Said plans just so happened to be walking across the street. Stan Marsh in all his glory. “Next time though, yeah?”
“That’s your fiancé?” Lola responded, gawking at him.
He gave her a smile and nod. “Later.”
Stan met him halfway. “Dude, how psyched are people when you’re their doctor?”
“Oh my god, shut up,” Kyle responded, swatting at him.
“I’m being serious! If we weren’t engaged, I’d be here for emergency surgery, like, every other day.”
“You’re so annoying,” he huffed, no bite there. “In a few months I’m all yours.”
“Oooor,” Stan singsonged, leaning closer. “We could just elope.” He pressed a gentle kiss to Kyle’s temple. “Maybe?”
A laugh bubbled out of Kyle. “I thought we were done pushing off career stuff to be impulsive,” he murmured.
“I know. But we could also go be gay in like… Paris. Just an option.”
Kyle tilted Stan’s chin, giving him a gentle kiss. “You literally hate French people.”
Stan pulled back slightly with a laugh. “I know.” They separated, starting their walk home.
“Holy shit wait,” Kyle got out, voice bordering on excited.
Stan’s eyes lit up. “Tell me what happened.”
“That girl, Lola, y’know. The one that I thought was going to kill me on my break.”
“Mhm.”
“She just invited me to a party?”
“What the hell?” he responded with a chuckle.
“Yeah, it's on a boat or something.”
“Tonight?”
“Yeah.”
“You should go, dude.” Kyle shook his head, laughs bubbling out. “You’re gonna be stuck with me for the rest of our lives. Go try and make friends with your coworkers.”
-
The calm night was violently erupted by flickering flames and dark billowing smoke shrouding over the entire lake. The screams were so loud Kyle could practically feel them ping ponging around his skull as he took cover underneath a table. He didn’t want to look. The people around him were literally tearing each other apart. Limb from limb. He knew the wetness touching his skin was not humidity from being on a lake during a warm summer night. It was blood. He took a deep breath, trying to drown everything out. He refused to die here. He just had to make it across the deck and jump. That was all he had to do.
His eyes widened, tears slipping out when he saw one of the people attacking get shot in the head with a harpoon gun. He shook his head. The second the guy who shot it went down, he sprung out, running faster than he’d ever ran before.
-
Kyle opened his eyes to see nothing but yellow. The sun pierced through the tiny bits of viber covering his eyes. Fuck. His hands shot up, quickly forcing his way out and into a seated position. A deep cough wracked through him as he leaned forward, expelling the water that was tormenting him. He took slow deep breaths, trying to take everything in.
His arm stung violently. He took another shaky deep breath before looking down. Three deep claw marks stood out against his pale skin. EMTs were all around. He couldn't even get a word out before the one who was checking out a body a few feet away caught sight of him. He was twenty at the very most. His eyes widened as he tumbled backwards from his squatting position. He caught himself, immediately taking off and running, calling out for who Kyle assumed was someone with more experience.
-
Kyle let out a quiet sigh as he walked into his apartment, fraying plastic bag containing two boxes of hair dye and a jumbo pack of ramen. “Babe!” Tweek greeted with excitement, the second he walked inside. Kyle nearly did a 180 and walked back out. He adored Tweek, but he just knew something was up. But before he could react, Tweek scampered over and grabbed the bag from his hands, walking further inside the apartment. “Soooo. We thought we’d reinstate potluck Tuesday’s. Y’know, cause we all love you so much.”
“We?” Kyle interrupted.
“And we want you to know how much we love you,” he said awkwardly. Kyle followed him into the kitchen, stomach dropping. “Cause we’re a little… concerned?”
His eyes locked with Stan’s and he tried his absolute hardest to push the ‘feeling like a cornered animal’ feelings which he was definitely happening into the back of his mind. “Very concerned, bubbie. About your recent behavior. Y’know, Kyle, this is a hundred percent not like you,” his mother scolded as kindly as she could. He had to actually fight to not roll his eyes. “And that’s me speaking on behalf of your brother and myself.” She circled the island as Ike walked in from god knows where.
“No it’s not,” he chimed in.
She gently put her hands on his shoulders. “You know what I’m about to say comes from a place of love, don’t you?”
“Kinda depends on what you say,” Kyle responded flatly.
“You’re throwing away your life.”
He made a face, nodding slightly. “Wow.”
“You traded a residency at the hospital you worked so hard to get for a job at the morgue. And just saying, you will regret breaking off your engagement with Stan until the end of time. Place of love.”
Stan coughed awkwardly. “I was not told that we would be bringing up the engagement thing today,” he said as he floated towards the couch, trying to avoid eye contact. “Just so you know.”
“Yeah, but it’s evidence,” Tweek chimed in. “Y’know, speaks to state of mind.”
Kyle’s nose scrunched. “Was also not told we were putting you on trial,” Stan chimed in.
Ike leaned on the island, shoving a cracker in his mouth. Kyle exchanged a look with him and he just shook his head slightly. I am never sticking up for you again, Kyle mouthed.
“No one’s one trial!” Tweek interjected. “You’ve just changed so much since the night on the lake. Y’know, in the six years we’ve lived together you’ve been this, like,” he waved his hand around slightly. “You were this unstoppable, hyper-focused force of nature. Now you just kinda…” He made a face. “Dude, all you do is watch TV all day while you hide in a blanket on the couch.”
Kyle’s stomach twisted. It was true. Very much so true. That didn’t mean he wanted to hear it. He tried to swallow all the rage creeping up, even though it felt like a good thing. It’d been so long since he felt actually angry. Or actually anything at all besides tired.
“This is the first time you’re not volunteering for the children’s ward haunted house and you know how important that is to me, bubbie,” his mom said softly.
“Okay,” he breathed out, edge of annoyance in his tone. “This is obviously not potluck Tuesday. It’s an intervention.”
Ike glided in between Sheila and Tweek with a smirk, beer in his hand. “Told you she’d figure it out.”
Tweek smacked the side of his head and Ike quickly stepped out of the way. “Ky…” He frowned. “Just, we think you have PTSD. Y’know, like you go to a boat party and a bunch of crazy drunks start killing each other. And the fire, like. I can’t even imagine what you saw out there. But we think you need professional help…”
Kyle shook his head slightly. “I really don’t.” He swallowed hard, feeling like he was swallowing every single bit of pride and dignity he had left. “But I will try and come down to help at the haunted house,” he said, looking at his mother.” He took a deep breath. “I have to go to work.”
He spun around, quickly retreating out of his apartment and out the door. And work was as it always was. He walked through the precinct, completely tuning out the buzz of cops doing their jobs as he headed downstairs into the morgue. It was completely dead. Craig was nowhere in sight. He frowned slightly before going through his paperwork. And still, Craig was nowhere in sight. He eyed the body drawers before eyeing the entrance. He slowly stood up, grabbing the clipboard as he walked over. “Alright Mr…” His stomach fell lower than it's ever fallen before. Bile crept up his throat. He couldn’t be seeing that right. No. Tears stung at the corners of his eyes. The name written on his clipboard could not be the name that he was seeing. It hadn’t been that long.
A shaky hand reached out towards what was covering him. He felt like he couldn’t do it. His heart was pounding in his chest. It’s fine. You’re just hallucinating. This will be some totally unrelated guy. You’re just having a day.
The second his hand touched the sheet, he screamed. The corpse shot up to a seated position. He screamed, jumping nearly ten feet in the air. “Hiya gorgeous,” Kenny greeted playfully.
“KENNY, WHAT THE FUCK!” he yelled, tears actually slipping out.
“Aw, baby, I knew you’d be excited to see me, but you’re crying?”
Pure frustration flooded through him. “That’s not fucking funny!” he shouted, wiping at his face with his arm.
His face fell slightly, teasing nature faltering immediately. “Oh Ky,” he muttered. “Hey, stop. I’m sorry.”
A mix of a laugh and a sob escaped him. “How’d you even get in here?!”
Kenny thought about telling him the truth, but the thought left just as soon as it invaded his head. “I just wanted to see you. It’s been a while.”
Kyle’s heart panged. Had it really been that long? “You didn’t have to break in here, dick. You could’ve just called.”
Kenny frowned slightly, shrugging. “The last time I called you didn’t pick up.”
Oh. Exhaustion started to kick in as guilt ebbed at him. His day barely started and he was ready to curl up in bed and hide for the rest of the day. “I’m sorry,” he said quietly. “I’ve just been busy.”
“I can tell,” Kenny responded, picking himself back up. “Pretty sweet gig ya got here.”
“You’re fucking-” Kyle couldn’t be more thrilled that Kenny didn’t mention it. He let out a quiet huff before pulling Kenny into a tight hug. “I missed you,” he murmured.
Tentative hands found their way around his back. “I missed you too,” Kenny whispered.
He laughed, pulling away slightly. “You’re fucking freezing, dude. Get out of there before you actually die, please.”
Kenny wrapped his arms around Kyle’s shoulders before he practically hurled himself out of the drawer, landing on two feet. Kyle’s stomach fluttered slightly, eyes slightly downwards. Amber eyes crinkled ever so slightly as Kenny shot him a small smirk. “Ky…” he said lowly. “Are you about to kiss me right now?”
Kyle took a wide step back, huffing. “In your fucking dreams.”
“Mhm. Every single night.”
“Actually shut up,” he breathed out, pinching the bridge of his nose, trying to will away a blush that had no business creeping up on him. He tried not to think about the mechanics of that. It seemed like nearly all of his normal body functions ceased that night but he was still able to blush somehow. Fucking ridiculous.
“Rough morning?”
Kyle looked up. Kenny looked about as tired as he felt. “I could ask you the same.”
A quiet laugh escaped him. “A bit, yeah,” he said quietly.
“Do you wanna talk about it?”
“Do you?”
Kyle narrowed his eyes slightly. “So how’d you slip past all the cops?”
“Deflecting much?”
“Coming from you is rich.”
They had a silent standoff before a laugh bubbled out of Kenny. “I really missed you, Ky.”
“I missed you too.” Kyle ignored the way his throat felt tight.
“Y’know, I’m not gonna make you talk about it. Or push you or anything. I’m your friend.” His gaze met the floor as his hands came together, fidgeting slightly. “Can you stop icing me out?”
“Kenny, I’m not,” Kyle shut his mouth, frowning slightly. “It’s not like that.”
Kenny looked up solemnly. “I know it’s not,” he responded, taking another step forward. “I know it’s not on purpose.”
Kyle nodded slightly, looking at the ground. Seeing Kenny upset actually hurt something deep within him. “I’m sorry.”
“No, dude. It’s okay. I just… really miss you and it sucks not seeing you around. Or hearing from you, y’know?”
Kyle looked up, quickly closing the gap between them and pulling him into a tight hug. “I have to do my job right now, but I’ll call you. I promise. Tomorrow if I’m too tired tonight, okay? But I’ll text you.”
“Swear on your promise,” Kenny murmured against him.
A quiet laugh bubbled out of him. “I swear on my promise, Kenny.”
Kenny pulled back, beaming. “Cool.” Kyle blinked hard, barely registering the kiss smacked to his cheek. “Later, cutie!” Kenny practically glided out of the backdoor, leaving Kyle standing there in near shock. Did he just fucking-
“Who was that?”
“JESUS FUCKI-” Kyle cut himself off with a hand pressed against his chest. Is everyone trying to fucking kill me today? He slowly turned around, seeing Craig eyeing him with a small smirk. “How did you even fucking-” he gestured at the corpse on the table in front of him. “I was literally-”
“I didn’t wanna pop your bubble,” he deadpanned.
He ran a hand through his hair, trying to get his frustration to dissipate. “You’re like a fuckin’ shadow,” he muttered as he walked over.
Kyle snapped his gloves on, ready to get this day over with. “Soo,” Craig drawled. “Your friend?”
Kyle narrowed his eyes on Craig slightly. Craig has barely said three sentences to him that weren’t work related since they started working together. It’s been a few months. “Who are we working on?”
“Jane Doe,” he murmured, eyes dropping back down. “They found her in the back of a garbage truck. No ID, no matching prints. Cause of death is complicated… Because of the compactor.” Kyle winced slightly. His phone buzzed five times in rapid succession and Craig quickly ripped off his gloves to check. “Fucking hell,” he muttered. “Okay. I gotta go take care of a suicide. Sew her back up, bag her, box her. Y’know the deal.”
“Right.”
Kyle’s eyes followed Craig right out the door before he stood up slowly. “What the hell am I doing with my life?," he muttered.

Malmö exploration part 2
We then went to Meet Katrina and her children Isabella and Henry (!!!) at Ribersborgsstranden, which was a cool beach area that they set up in the summer chalk full of kid friendly activities along with young adult helpers to show the kids how to do the various things. there was sports equipment to check out, a crafts table, and e-sports/video game area, a large inflatable tumbling mat, bubble-balls/zorbs, soccer goals, volleyball, ping pong, basketball…and on and on. All free of course (thanks Sweden!). the girls crafted, tumbled and did a little soccer while the boys mostly kicked the soccer ball. We got the reluctant children to motivate to move along only once the workers started breaking down everything for the 5 pm closure time. We then got to check out the Gordon family’s cool cargo bike and walked home along the bike/walking path to their house, noting beach scenery, playgrounds, and even a wakeboard cable course en route! At their house we met Katrina’s husband Ben and had a lovely and tasty grill out in the communal area outside of their lovely apartment.

𓆩♡𓆪 jock!jungkook—a much needed thread.

⇢ ☆ ˚₊ Jeon Jungkook, third year
Football player and part time fuck-boy (< Jimin said that). He's apart of many different clubs cause he likes the extra activities and the bonus points he gets as credits. A lot of people know him, he's got a snapchat score of more than one-hundred thousand (red flag!1!).
Jungkook's a cool guy, he's messed with a lot of girls but he doesn't take them seriously. Probably only had like one serious girlfriend out of all of them but he ended that real quick cause she wasn't it. Always at the frat parties cause his fraternity throws them lmao. Beer ping-pong enthusiast here!
Drives a black Mercedes Benz, likes to light it up and make thirst traps for his Instagram. His insta is literally only one pic, posts a bit more on stories when he feels like it (rarely). Gym rat with Namjoon. He don't do much outside of school if he's free, often stays at home playing different video games.
Nice "fuckboy".
⇢ ☆ ˚₊ y/n l/n, second year
In the nursing program but mainly majors in accounting/business. Talks to a lot of people but isn't friends with many. Really nice, too sweet for your own good. Lots of people like you, but they also take advantage of you cause you're a little too slow.
Airhead here! Really clueless half the time and is really slow. The nicest way possible you're a dumb bimbo. Likes to wear low cut tops a lot and cute miniskirts with tennis shoes but forgets to wear safety shorts a lot. Carries a big heart underneath those big tits—
Half the male population wants a piece. You have a lot of followers but you don't follow them cause you're busy following cat accounts. Major Animal Crossing and Sailor Moon fan right here. Posts a lot of thirst traps unknowingly. Owns a bunny. Said bunny sleeps on tits.
Hates clothes when at home <<<
⇢ ☆ ˚₊ Are you two dating?? Yes-No.
You act like it. Nothing is official and people are like what the fuck? Especially Jimin. No one is more confused than Jimin. Like what the fuck you mean you're not dating? But you're hitting it?!
It's complicated, you both beat around the bush around that topic but are extremely loyal. Like Jungkook still messes around with other girls but doesn't fuck them? You're too dense to notice any other guy flirting so sex is off the table for you.
Carries your bag around cause you complain it's heavy. Has bought a Nintendo switch just to play Animal Crossing with you. His mom loves you and your mom loves him. Lap is your permanent chair, face is your gaming chair—
Hand? On tits. Always.
⇢ ☆ ˚₊ But you fuck? Yes. Just yes.
Only happened cause he helped you out and you kissed his cheek in return which somehow turned into you giving his dick a kiss and then yeah. Titty galore. This man loves your tits, always leaves a mark and never misses a chance to squeeze. Ass is amazing too but titties..
"Maybe you shouldn't wear any panties when we hang out." "Hm. Okay. I don't like clothes anyways. ^^"
Creampies to the max. Jungkook likes watching your dewy folds stick to his cock whenever he slides out and then pushes back in. He'll fill your pussy and then watch as your pussy gapes around nothing and strings of creamy cum slips from your cunt. Challenges himself to make you cum more then three times in one go.
Got the chubbiest and softest pussy ever. You're a creamer. It's Jungkook's most favorite thing in the world. He'll fuck you slowly just to hear the soft noises your cunt makes. He'll have you on all fours with your chest flat on the bed and ass high in the air. Your hands will come back to grip your ass cheeks and hold it apart to show off your pretty holes.
Jungkook's a huge fan of taking photos of you naked and filled with cum. He'll even video tape you two fucking either from a first person pov or just set the phone up on the nightstand.
⇢ ☆ ˚₊ Ummmmm but the relationship status?? Very much giving "mine and I'm not sharing".

hiiiii this is a small series i’m considering writing! might turn it into a fic hehe with lots and lots of dirty smut. though, i’m willing to write your ideas based on this thread!

The boy with the reindeer clothes and captain america mask part two
The next day you both awake tangled in each other’s arms, you smile and blush softly “morning calla” he nodded softly groggily saying “good morning y/n” You sigh softly and begin to untangle yourself from Calla but his grip is firm as he whined softly and you giggle saying “calla we need to get up and make some breakfast and we need to decide where we’re going today” He groans “But y/nnnnn wouldn’t it be better to just stay here on the couch forever” You roll your eyes fondly “Well maybe for you but I’m hungry so I suggest you let me go before I start eating you!” You giggle playfully nibbling his neck making him squeak and giggle as he scrunches his neck “Eek! Ahhallrihihgghhtt ahhalllrrihihggjhttt ihihill lehehett yoouu uhuhupp!” You smirk softly “Good! Lets go” He lets you up reluctantly and you both head to the kitchen and begin making a simple breakfast of French toast and sausage. Once breakfast is finished cooking you sit and begin trying to think of where to go for the day. “Well we could go shopping I’d love to buy you some things while you’re here” you shake your head at him “no no way you’re not buying me anything I can buy stuff for myself but I don’t really feel like shopping today maybe we could go to an amusement park or something” he rolls his eyes “You’re not leaving without me having at least bought you one thing! Hmm I think the fairs in town does that sound good?” Your eyes sparkle as you nod excitedly “That sounds great! I’m so down for that!” He smiles at your excitement “The fair it is then!”
So your trip to the fair started off with getting some snacks! You each got a corn dog, a lemon shake up and then ended it with sharing a funnel cake! After the snacks you went and played a balloon game where you won each of you some posters and then played another one where Callahan won your plushie! He wanted to try and win you one of the big ones but you said no and he saw how truly happy you were with the little Fuli from lion guard plushie and stopped trying to convince you to let him win you one of the biggest plushies… Next you went walking about trying to find a ride that sparked your guys interest and you finally settled on the cheesy but classic Ferris wheel… The line luckily wasn’t too long and the sun was just beginning to set so in theory normally you would be looking at the sunset right? Yes but in your case no you and Calla were just so entranced with the other, you were desperately staring at his face in fear you’d forget it and he was stuck staring at yours not worried he would forget it because you show your face often but he was just taking in every detail he could that the cameras never seemed to catch… The little mole on your nose he was sure you probably hated but he was sure he loved, the way your cheeks could change from pink to red so fast and how it was shades of pink and red that he had never seen before… The way your eyes sparkle in a way he’s never seen anyone’s eyes sparkle and how just when he thinks they can’t get any sparklier they do when you laugh and he doesn’t know but when he laughs they’re at their sparkliest….
After the Ferris wheel we get ready to head home but as we pass by the fish game y/n stops me tugging on my sleeve softly and looking at me with puppy eyes as they ask “Calla can we please win two fish? Just two! Just so they’re not lonely… I’ll come visit all the time to help take care of them and I’ll send you money to help with their food and cleaning supplies and I’ll buy their tank and all the little decorations and everything they need!” I sigh softly rolling my eyes fondly at them as I nod and sign “Okay we can try and win some fish” They clap excitedly as they lean up and leave a kiss on my cheek, my cheeks heat up and I smile softly as I give the person the money.. We each begin throwing the ping pong balls as if our life depends on it we miss so many times but finally half way through I make one in and at the very end when we only have but two balls left y/n makes one in as well! They cheer excitedly hugging me tightly and it’s like a warmth I’ve never felt before washes over me, and when they pull away? It’s like there’s a big dark hole of cold emptiness left there that I’ve never noticed until now… We collect our fish and head to the car once in the car y/n is immediately brainstorming names “What about phineas and ferb or Drake and Josh or if they’re girls Carly and Sam?!” I snicker softly at their suggestions shrugging “Phineas and ferb sound cool but what if ones a boy and ones a girl?” Their eyes light up as they say “Phineas and Isabella” I nod as we finally begin to actually leave “I like that it’s cute like you” They blush turning their face away from me mumbling “shut up I’m not cute” I scoff softly rolling my eyes as I quickly poke their side, they squeak and jump lightly glaring at me but with no real malice “Eek! Cahalla don’t!” I snicker again and sign “Well then admit you’re cute” They sigh softly “ Fine I’m cute… to you” I shrug softly “Good enough for me”
Soon enough we made it to Walmart figuring we could get some decent stuff for now and upgrade it later on down the line. As we got out of the car y/n glanced at my face and then at my hand and I could tell what they were thinking so I wordlessly grabbed their hand pulling it to my lips for a few seconds and then let it down gently but didn’t let go instead keeping them clasped together my thumb gently rubbing their palm making them giggle softly for a few moments before sighing contently… Once inside we quickly found the fish supplies settling on a decent sized rectangle shaped aquarium, we grab the most colorful pebbles we can find, we decided to also pick out some decorations settling on a few different sized plants along with a little fake log and finally a little bubble chest!
I make sure to grab a few snacks before me and Calla leave and soon enough we’ve made it home! I carry in the snacks and the prizes while Calla carries in the aquarium supplies… We quickly rinse the aquarium and the rocks and then begin trying to find the best place to set it, we finally settle on putting it in the living room setting it on a small table off to the side. “So how much water should we add?” He shrugs softly “I don’t know maybe a little over half way? I mean we do have a lid for it so it’s not like we have to worry about them jumping out” You nod “Yea that sounds good let’s do it!” You decided even though it would take much longer to fill up this way that it was better to leave the aquarium on the table and use cups of water to fill it up… Of course you can’t take it fully serious and decide when almost done filling it up to splash a bit of water on calla as you’re filling up your cup, he gasps in surprise as you giggle before gasping as he splashes a bit on you! He snickers hiding behind his hand and you dump a little under half a cup on him and he squeaks softly before narrowing his eyes and pouring a full cup on you. Both of you are now soaked but smiling brightly at each other and before you know it you’re leaning up and he’s leaning down and your lips have connected again for the second time… You kiss only a few seconds longer before you say “As much as I enjoy this I’m getting cold and we need to finish filling the aquarium” He whines softly but nods knowing you’re right.. You each fill up your cups that being the final cups needed, you add in the special water treatment as calla grabs Phineas and Isabella… He carefully opens their bags and placed them in, you each stand back and smile looking at them, he softly wraps an arm around your waist and side holding you close against his side as you rest your head on his chest…
You stand there together a few more minutes before breaking apart, you quickly to grab some pajamas and begin to take a quick shower… Soon after Calla takes a quick shower his own self and then you each agree and decide to see if your friends are free to finally talk on discord, luckily they are you decide to play a slight prank maybe it could be called on them… Calla let’s you take his main chair as he grabs a second smaller chair for himself, you hold back a giggle as you quickly click call… Soon enough all your friends begin joining they were all quick to say their hellos to calla though they were confused asking why Calla was calling when it was y/n who asked if they were busy or not… Dream and Niki are the only two who already realize what’s going on so they simply stay silent… But for the rest of the group,the group being, Sapnap,George,Alex and Bad, they were very shocked when they suddenly heard a voice and then finally Alex being the one with a little sense realized it was you!
“Y/N THE PERSON YOU MET UP WITH WAS CALLAHAN?! NO WAY!” You giggle and Callahan smiles happily holding your hand “yep! I finally did it!” George is quick to make jokes “So have you seen his face yet or are you still like the rest of us and have no idea what he looks like” Calla covers his mouth hiding his laugh and you quickly mute to allow him to let his laugh if he wishes and he does and his laugh makes you laugh and you can hear George begging for answers but you don’t care and neither does Calla! A few more moments though and you’ve each stopped laughing and are looking at each other and suddenly Calla closes the distance leaving a quick peck on your lips… Finally you unmute “Sorry uh I’m- I mean we’re back, and for your information George…” You pause looking to Calla for confirmation that it’s okay and he nods softly “I have and it’s truly very cute and both everything I expected and nothing I ever expected” Everyone either awwed softly or made exaggerated gagging sounds which made you and Calla blush and then giggle softly, Dream was next to speak “So how are you guys communicating?” You look to Calla and he shrugs softly nodding for you to go ahead..
“Well I of course just verbally talk but Calla does a mix of sign and verbal talking but mainly just sign” Everyone thinks and decides to not make any jokes as they don’t wanna risk upsetting Calla and instead Dream takes lead saying “That’s great, so what have you guys been up to?” You and Calla look at each other knowingly smiling a bit and he presses the quietest kiss he can to you cheek as you say “We went to the fair the other day and Calla won me and plushie and we each won a fish! Calla is gonna keep them though and just video call me so I can see them when I want” Karl gasps excitedly “What did you name them?!” Calla types in chat “Well I didn’t tell y/n but I was thinking of naming them dumb and dumber” You scoff and hit him softly before going to hit the mute button but he stops you and just covers his mouth as he laughs a bit… Theres a collective sound of gasps before sapnap says “NO WAY DID CALLAHAN JUST LAUGH?!” Calla rolls his eyes at their shock and excitement light heartedly and you shrug softly as you say “maybe it was maybe it wasn’t that’s for me and Callahan to know and you guys not to know” Alex whines softly “but y/nnnn we wanna know!” Bad is quick to agree “Yea! We wanna know!” Even Niki joins in on the joke “Yes! Stop gatekeeping Callahan from us!” You and Callahan both laugh and you say “Hey I could really gatekeep him by just ending the call right now to go-“ suddenly you cut yourself off blushing realizing while yea they know your main love language is physical touch they also know you’re crushing hardcore on Calla so they might catch on… And neither of you are ready for that! You’re quick to catch yourself though saying “To go take care of Phineas and Isabella” Luckily most everyone sounds distracted well enough by the names to not realize your near mistake and they just take it as a normal small stutter, George says “But how do you know ones a boy and ones a girl?” Alex says “Yea and how do you know which is which?!” You really don’t have an answer “Well we don’t and we can at least tell them apart because one has a white spot on its head, but yea we don’t know but they need names we can’t just call them fish one and fish two!” Dream snickers “Then just call them white head and not white head” He bursts into giggles and soon everyone else is giggling as well including you and Calla soon after though you yawn softly and despite your protests Calla types in chat saying “Guys I’m gonna go ahead and make y/n get some sleep we’ll try and call you all again soon okay?” Everyone starts saying a chorus of sad goodbyes and a mixture of well wishes and jokes…
Soon enough the call is finally over and you whine softly looking at Calla before giggling softly “Now they’re really gonna think I’m gatekeeping you” he laughs as he stands and holds his arms out to you as he says “so let them think what they want maybe I like you gatekeeping me…” he pauses as you walk towards him and then he swiftly picks you up bridal style “maybe I want you to gatekeep me all night…” Your eyes widen a bit before another yawn escapes and you blush “Let me get some pajamas first okay? Then I would love to gatekeep you all night” he smiles blushing brightly as he carries you to your room and gently sets you down before turning around and shutting your door waiting outside it for you.. You find some comfy shorts and t-shirt tossing it on and open the door lightly tapping Calla’s shoulder, and despite your insistence that you can walk he turns around and smiles picking you up once more and he carries you to the bathroom allowing you to do your business and you allow him to do his and then you each brush your teeth and despite you insisting again that you can walk he says “no I wanna carry you it’s nice I uh like having you in my arms…” You blush leaving a kiss on his cheek, soon after you’re back to his room and he sets you down and you each pull back the covers and climb in… Calla and you both get comfortable and then he nervously puts his arms around your back hands resting on your stomach and you smile snuggling closer to him and within minutes you’re each asleep..

PC:1.69.54.1020 / Mac: 1.69.54.1220 Console: Version 1.35 Happy Holidays Simmers! It’s time to go back in to Create a Sim! Where in this update you will find 100+ new skin tones, customization sliders for skin tones and makeup, and three improved base game hairstyles! Every skin tone now has a value slider that allows you to change the light to dark value of that skin tone, unlocking a much wider variety of skin tone options for you to play with! You will also find that our skin tones are now filterable to warm, cool, and neutral tones (as well as miscellaneous that covers our occult skin tones).
The new makeup sliders add more choices and opportunities for you to customize your Sims, and express your Sim’s style! Hue, saturation, value or brightness, and opacity are now available to modify on the makeup. We have locked some of the sliders where it did not provide an optimal experience or make sense for the makeup. Expect us to continue our work on these issues into the future to provide you with more. In addition to the customization opportunities provided, you can also save custom swatches as you tweak your sliders to get the perfect look. When you click on the swatch (for skin tones and makeup) as you modify the sliders, you will have an opportunity to save your custom settings, so you can re-use it later without having to remember your perfect looks! Did we mention that we made some hair updates? We did - we updated a base game child hair (cfHair_BraidedPonyTail), and we added a second version of that hair that removes the baby hairs (cfHair_BraidedPonyTailPlain). And we updated a base game male hair that you may find difficult to recognize from the original hair (ymHair_flatTopTextured)!
We have updated the Main Menu!... Again! The idea behind this change is to create a more cohesive experience and give Packs a more proper space as we continue to grow our content lineup. As a nice bonus, we highlighted the Gallery in a more meaningful way to inspire you.
-SimGuruGnome & SimGuruRusskii
Now onto the fixes:
Sims 4
Sketching so much that the Digital Sketch Pad just quit on you? Never fear! Freelancer Sims that use the Digital Sketchpad will now be able to complete designs without being reset abruptly.
Happy Birthday to all! Sims will now properly Age Up. Adulting is hard but they will make it, don’t worry.
Fixed an issue in which Doors, Windows, and Arches had cutouts when being reflected in Mirrors. Rorrim Rorrim no eht llaw, ohw si eht tseriaf erutaef fo meht lla?
Sims that do not have the Fishing Skill, or have not been Fishing at all, will not get notifications about identifying Fish. THEY WERE FISHING WITH THEIR MINDS.
The following careers have added the “Take Vacation Day” option, yay!Editor Russkii note: I didn’t want to add each line in each pack for this fix, it would have looked weird and robotic so that is why I chose to do one bullet point for all in this section.
Child Sims will no longer forget they are in their Sleepwear when they go to school. Though in these times of Work and School from Home, I don’t blame them one bit.
The Sweet Escapes Country Toilet will no longer be Comfortable AND Uncomfortable at the same time… There can only be one!
Sims with the Best Selling Author Aspiration can now complete their task of writing 3 Best Sellers.
Fixed an issue in which resized objects would disappear when they were part of downloaded Gallery items.
We revised our Careers (Pack specific and not) and we made sure there were no Chance Cards that were repeated constantly.
We noticed we had added the option to Clean Up Toddler on kitchen and bathroom sinks for both Toddlers and Children by mistake, so we removed it for both age groups from the sink… but how would have they fit? Like… how? These are the questions that keep me up at night.
Build Snowpal interaction is no longer available on non-natural ground (For Simmers that own Seasons and/or Snowy Escape). That's why it's called a Snowpal, not a Floorpal!
Gardener (Seasons)
Military (Strangerville)
Lifeguard for Teens and Conservationist (Island Living)
Law, Education, and Engineer (Discover University)
Civil Designer (Eco Lifestyle).
Get to Work
We made a clarification on the Xenophilia moodlet when interacting with Alien Sims. It should no longer say “From Discovering Aliens” but now it correctly reads “From Interacting with Aliens.”
Fixed an issue in which childbirth was not possible if Simmers changed the color swatches of the Surgery Tables. Now listen, I have heard about renting whole hospital wings for a birth in real life and other eccentricities, but this… was really something.
Get Together
Male Sims will no longer get Pregnant after receiving calls from NPC Sims.
City Living
NPC Sims will now text and call with invitations to Festivals. I personally welcomed the calm and quiet of my phone not beeping about constantly. But I can’t miss a Festival!
Sims rejoice! Yard sale customers will no longer invade their Home Lots and use Household objects. It is a Yard Sale… OUT in the yard, not an Open House.
Did you ever regret trusting some Sims enough to give them your apartment keys to constantly get visits from them for Milk and Juice? You can rest assured that they will no longer visit you for this purpose. I think some neighborly love is appreciated, but this went beyond the proverbial “May I have a cup of sugar?” type of situation.
Fixed an issue in which interactions to participate on GeekCon contests would not appear when interacting with objects.
We decided to give a bit more clarity when displaying the location of Festivals, so now it will display as “Near <insert location>” and not a distinct location that is not entirely correct. This is true for Festivals in Snowy Escape as well.
Cats and Dogs
Pets will no longer sleep in random places when told to sleep on their Pet beds. In my world they can sleep where they are most comfortable, my conspiracy… allegedly.
Seasons
Sims can now Shower in the Rain… Jury is still out on Singing and Dancing.
Sims will no longer “lose” their shovels when performing other autonomous activities while performing the interaction “Shovel Snow.”
Our friendly neighborhood Snowpal has been properly renamed to Chill from Chil. Everything I knew before was a lie… a LIE!
Ever felt like the Holiday spirit has just been too much to handle, and Father Winter starting to show up everywhere and not letting you do much of anything getting a bit… out of hand? Fear not! Father Winter will stop replicating himself* to spread holiday cheer. *Note this fix is not entirely retroactive, new saves should see this without issue. Existing saves will correct themselves over time.
Get Famous
Duck Security SCROO9E Super XL Smart Vault will no longer disappear after Sims Woohoo in it… you can say Woohoo can be romantic and magical, but maybe not to this extent?
NPCs from the Actor Career sometimes would never show on Set, making gigs impossible to complete. We've spoken with their union reps and everyone has agreed to stop this ridiculous strike. What were they striking about? Was there even a Strike? We may never know.
Island Living
Mermaids and other Occults should no longer be able to make hybrid occults. How were they making them? Oh boy, I'm not sure if it's appropriate for me to give you the mermaid-birds and spellcaster-bees talk.
Randomly generated Mermaid Sims will no longer be seen without some features in affected Simmer Saves. However this fix is not retroactive, so it should be seen fixed in new saves.
Pizza delivery to Lagoon Look Lot has been fixed to arrive promptly. This is Sulani Deep Lagoon Pizza, home of the 2x1 Mermadic Kelp Pizza and the Salty Llama Combo, may I take your order? <Descriptive Simlish on the line> Uh huh… uh huh… <Indescribable Simlish on the line> Yes, we now can ACTUALLY deliver to Lagoon Look… <Interrogative Simlish on the line> Yes, we told our delivery Sims that they need to deliver it there and not keep the pizza for themselves… like give it to the actual client. <Surprised Simlish on the line>
Discover University
Has this ever happened to you? Your Sim is ready to make an offering to the Sprites only to find a crystal stuck without being able to move it? No longer a problem, Sims now can remove offerings so all their rituals can resume. Sprites rejoice.
We fixed an issue for our Console Simmers that wouldn’t allow them to close the Humanoid Robot’s Behavior Module Menus correctly.
Fixed an issue that would cause items to be repossessed when loans were fully paid. That is NOT how it worked Repo Person… NOT how it worked.
Sims with Research & Debate Skill 3 or higher will no longer be able to “Convince to” with Toddler Sims.
Masquerade Secret Society Masks are now properly unlocked in Create a Sim when joining the Secret Society.
Fixed an issue in which Heckle animation was sometimes not being performed autonomously by Sims while playing Ping Pong.
Eco Lifestyle
Fixed an issue that triggered the Off-the-Grid notifications after traveling to different Lots in Evergreen Harbor, even when they are not labeled as Off-the-Grid.
We spoke to all Eco Inspectors, and they have agreed that they should NOT be charging the Energy efficient appliances fine if your appliances are fully upgraded to be super efficient and amazing. I mean all that work and still get fined? Not in this house!
Fixed an issue in which some placeholder text was showing in notifications after Dumpster Diving.
The Americana Station Speakers will now play Music… as the prophecy foretold.
When the We Wear Bags N.A.P is active, Grim Reaper will not be partially invisible when appearing on a Lot. Grim Reaper contributes!
Living the No Appliance lifestyle? We’ve got news for you! Sims will no longer be penalized for not having “Eco-Friendly Appliances.” No appliances, no fines!
Snowy Escape
Vending Machine Canned Soups and Drinks won’t spoil anymore. Time to stock up!
Sims can no longer go on Hikes while holding their Toddlers.
Space Heaters will now be able to be placed on Lots from Inventory. Sharing the warmth everywhere!
Fixed an issue in which the Shoe Removal Sign in 5-1-2 Kiyomatsu was not working properly. We also added Shoe Removal Signs in 5-1-1 Kiyomatsu and 2-4-2 Wakabamori.
Sims will now be more visibly furious when having the appropriate furious sentiment toward other Sims. “Yes, I’m mad!... No! This IS my furious face!”
Fixed an issue with some animations that would stutter while Snowboarding or Skiing. We also made sure that Sims with a high level of those skills would not always choose the Bunny Slopes.
Izzy Fabulous’ Star Simmi Rank was just too fabulous so we had to correct it to be one star less than displayed. Don’t worry Izzy, you are a full 4 stars in my book, you are that fabulous to me.
After much debate of whether it is the Cave Shrine or the Mountain Shrine for Hiking destinations we finally decided to just call it Mountain Shrine.
We revised the Snoop-Proof Bamboo Blinds and it is now possible to drop’em like they’re hot with the Thousand Words Window.
NPC Sims will no longer “take over” the Slopes for themselves for an indefinite period of time, now they will be sharing with all Sims the joys of the Slopes.
Fixed an issue in which Sims would get highlighted in the Sentiment Panel as if receiving new Sentiments every time traveling is involved.
Sims with Rock Climbing Skill 7, or higher, are able to autonomously climb the Tall Wall (Such tall! So much wall!). There is no need to not face what makes you uncomfortable… autonomously.
Had a chat with Yamachan and asked if he was ok, he seemed to start random conversations and then randomly say goodbye without reason. We are happy to report that he is OK now and will try not to do that. Give us a hug Yamachan.
Food Stalls at Mt. Komorebi Festivals won’t be closing shop randomly during Festival hours anymore. <guitar and piano intro> Closing time, open all the Stalls and eat all the food in the world...Closing time, turn all the lights on and let Yamachan greet you heeeere…
Create a Sim asset ymHat_EP10HelmetGoggles has been fixed to no longer display clipping around the neck area as well as we made sure no facial hair is removed when wearing this asset.

Experimenting with photo frames will no longer use the same picture of an Experimental Meal when displayed.
Hot Pot meals are now part of Restaurant Menus! I miss the times I would go to eat Hot Pot at a restaurant. One of my favorites has a conveyor belt that carries your fixings never leaving your table for a thing. *happy sigh*

“You cocky little bitch.”
jungkook x reader (or oc) genre: fluff word count: 1.6K
a/n: this was written in a love-struck daze for one Jeon Jeongguk and I have no idea if it’s any fucking good at all but ya know what, I needed to indulge myself. This is literally just Guk’s partner reacting to Dynamite with him and yeah, that’s the plot. I hope you all enjoy and thank you for reading :)) I’m gonna go watch dynamite 50 more times before I sleep!
AS soon as your boyfriend walked through the front door of your apartment you were grabbing his hand and pulling him to the kitchen. The scene was set: laptop on the kitchen counter, white screen on display, volume turned up to the maximum level.
“We’re watching it in the kitchen?” Jungkook asked you, a small smirk playing on his lips. You knew that look. He was about to wreck you.
“Don’t question me, Jeon, the counter provides the perfect height for me to be able to see the screen properly and the kitchen is a large enough space that I can jump around without kicking the fucking coffee table and stubbing my toe and running the whole experience,” you ranted to him, beyond ready to watching this fucking video.
“Ok, ok, you lunatic, are you sure you’re ready for this?” That smirk was still there. What the fuck do you do in this video, Jeon?
“What did I say about questioning me?” Jungkook’s smirk finally formed into a full smile, his eyes crinkling just the way you adored, you grinning in return as you faced the laptop. “Ok, no talking on the first play, you can tell me all the behind the scenes stuff later.”
“Aye aye, Captain,” he teased, you shaking your head as you pressed play.
You wiggled as the Big Hit intro played, your anticipation peaking. When the scene cut to a pinkish sky with six out of seven members standing in a group you smiled widely. “Ah, I see you went for the cocky vibe.”
Jungkook scoffed in response, but it wasn’t a scoff that was telling you to shush, it was more of a scoff that was telling you, just you wait. “You said no talking.”
“Shh,” you quickly shushed him, Jungkook snickering as he snuck his hand into yours, intertwining his fingers with yours.
As Jimin appeared front and center, the other members dispersing, and did a sassy little gun gesture, you let out an “oof,” Jungkook giggling beside you. “He’s cool.”
When it cut to Jungkook sitting in a bedroom, his vocals starting off the song, your eyes were glued to the screen, and Jungkook was entranced by you.
The Jungkook on the screen took a drink of milk and when he wiped away the milk mustache, giving a cocky little head snap, your eyes widened.
You felt you were keeping your composure pretty well for a person whose boyfriend was acting like, um, that in a music video, but Jungkook was highly amused by the way your jaw kept dropping open wide and wider as his verse went along.
And if your opened mouth wasn’t enough to give your lack of chill away, the gasp you let out as he sang, “like a rolling stone,” in the cockiest tone you’d ever heard come out of this man sure as hell gave you away. You swear you didn’t fucking breath his entire verse and when he sang, “iced tea and a game of ping pong,” with another cocky ass gesture with his widened eyes looking like a whole ass fucking meal, your body reacted in a physical jolt, you covering your mouth as Namjoon took over.
“You ok, baby?” Jungkook asked you with that goddamn smirk.
You couldn’t help it, you had to pause. With the video stilled on Namjoon in a record shop, you slowly turned to your boyfriend putting your free hand on your hip as you looked at him with your mouth still open, perhaps in a state of shock.
His smile grew wider and wider and finally, you exhaled. “You should have fucking warned me,” you complained, raising your arm and using his own hand to hit himself in the chest lightly. Your boyfriend fell into giggles, you finally coming out of your shock, but you figured not for long. “What the fuck, dude?”
“Should we continue?” He teased, you taking a deep breath.
“Should I- just, should I be prepared for death right now?” You asked him, Jungkook giggling in that boyish way that you were beyond smitten with.
“You’ll be ok,” he grinned, leaning toward the laptop to press play again.
Jungkook continued to look from the screen to you, his gaze lingering on your constant changing facial expressions as Namjoon and Hoseok had their moments on the screen, you letting out a series of ooh’s and oh wow’s, hyping his members for their appearances and their verses.
When Jungkook reappeared with a donut in hand, your mouth widened again before you bit your lip, a small squeal slipping out. Your hand squeezed your boyfriend’s, Jungkook leaning into you, bumping his shoulder against yours, basking in his effect on you.
At Jimin’s part, you started dancing a bit, yelling out an excited, “Jiminnnn,” making Jungkook laugh loudly. When Taehyung appeared on the screen, you gasped, taking a step back, Jungkook throwing his head back as he cackled at your reaction. You started shaking your free hand excitedly, not sure what to do with all your energy in your elated state.
When Namjoon came back on screen, you leaned closer to the laptop, asking Jungkook, “is that Yoongi in the back?” Anticipation coating your words. As Yoongi started his part, you jumped up and down quickly, yelling out, “yes Yoongi,” dragging the words out, Jungkook giggling like a school boy. At Yoongi’s little kick move, you shouted an impressed, “oh goddamn,” Jungkook falling toward you as he laughed.
You were grooving along as Jimin started singing again and when the group showed up, your man leading the pack, you groaned in your fucked up state of glee.
“Dude, fucking stop,” you whined out, Jungkook swelling with pride as you shook the hand that was wrapped up in his vigorously. “Why do you look like that, what are you doing?” You complained, almost angry by how attractive your boyfriend was.
As Tae took the center position, you shook your head slowly. “Oh, our girl is dead,” you said, referring to Taehyung’s girlfriend. Jungkook giggled, and you continued the slow movement of your head back and forth. “There’s no way she made it through this.”
The video went through a series of shots, the boys having fun dancing and being the absolute cutest and you started dancing along with them again, Jungkook joining in next to you. You ended up in a coordinated hip bumping move, both of you giggling and having the time of your lives.
When Jin appeared at the center, you yelled out, “Jinnie!” Jungkook joining in this time, also shouting out, “Jin-hyung!”
As the dancing scenes continued, you and Jungkook continued dancing, Jungkook slipping behind you, grabbing both of your hands and holding your arms out straight, almost like an airplane. He directed your arms to move around, you both laughing as he led your dancing, your eyes still on the screen.
When the music cut out, Jimin appearing alone on the screen, Jungkook wrapped his arms around your shoulders, swaying cutely with you, kissing your cheek as you smiled widely. Then your boyfriend came back on the screen, Jimin jumping on his back making you audibly coo.
“God you guys are the fucking cutest,” you whined.
“Oh, not as cute as you, Holly,” he complimented, nuzzling his face in your neck as you started grooving again.
“There’s about 20 million ARMY’s piling into this video right at this moment who would definitely disagree, sir,” you teased back, Jungkook’s giggles tickling the skin on your neck. You beamed at the dancing scenes, especially your boyfriend’s bedroom dancing, Jungkook smiling widely as he watched the screen with you, his cheek pressed against your own.
When the song ended, Taehyung closing the video out by putting a pair of sunglasses on with a little smirk, you sucked air between your teeth. “She’s a goner,” you said, again referring to his girlfriend.
“And what about you? Are you a goner?” Jungkook asked, kissing the side of your face repeatedly, you giggling as you spun in his arms, wrapping your forearms around the back of his neck.
“I don’t really know what I am,” you giggled, Jungkook laughing with you. “I was unprepared, I can tell you that much.”
“Did you like the song?” He asked, you nodding immediately.
“That was so fun, baby, it was amazing,” you complimented. “Truly, and you opening it like that? How dare you.”
He threw his head back in laughter, you continuing your lecturing. “Like oh my god, Jungkook,” you let out a small laugh. “You cocky little bitch.”
“Did it work for you?” He asked, quirking an eyebrow as he kept up his cocky act.
You flashed him a slight glare, poking your tongue to the inside of your cheek. “Well why don’t you take me into the bedroom and find out,” you suggested, Jungkook’s smile growing as he immediately started dragging you out of the kitchen to your room. “Maybe after you can show me some of those sick dance moves you did towards the end there,” you teased, Jungkook’s eyes crinkling as he beamed at you.
“Which ones? Oh you mean,” he slid away from you, “these ones?” He asked, going right into the moves he pulled at the end of the video, which you later decided to dub the ‘high knee shuffle’ and the ‘I’m a cocky little bitch and I know it but I be jamming’.
“Oof, baby, oh my god, is this foreplay? ‘Cause it’s working,” you joked, Jungkook laughing as he made his way back to you, wrapping his arms around your waist, yours settling on his chest. “You’re just spoiling me now.”
“Always,” he whispered with another cocky expression before falling to the mattress, pulling you down with him.
He was cocky, but the man had reason to be. That’s for damn sure.

Chapter 10

“Good morning, Handsom.” Fliss smiled as she held her phone between her shoulder and her ear as she continued to fork up the bedding in the stable.
“Morning sweetheart.” His soft voice hit her ear.
“Happy Thanksgiving!”
“Back at ya.” He chuckled softly “You at the yard?” “Yeah, been here a few hours now.”
“Do you need a hand with anything or…” “That’s really sweet but there’s not much left to do.” she replied, honestly “They’re all out for the day and are staying there until tomorrow morning so I’ve just a couple of stables and then some paper work to sort out before I pop back this evening to do a check.” “Ok so, once you’re done for the morning you’re free for a while?” “Yeah, why?”
“Mary had an idea.” “I did not!” Fliss heard the seven year old scoff “It was your…” “Ok, WE had an idea,” Frank conceded and there was some scuffling and Fliss could imagine he was holding Mary at arm’s length as she made a grab for the phone, “that maybe you might wanna come join us for dinner if you have time.”
“You mean your Thanksgiving dinner of chicken nuggets?” Fliss grinned “How could I turn that down?”
“Cool, just head over when you’re done.” “I might need to head home and shower.” She looked down at herself. “I’m filthy and probably don’t smell great either to be honest.” “You can change here if you want.”
Fliss paused, she had a spare change of clothes in her car. Well, a pair of sweats and a different polo shirt. She normally kept them there just in case of a downpour.
“Erm, sure, if you don’t mind…” “No of course not.”
“Alright, then, I’ll see you in about two hours or so?” Fliss smiled.
“Great.” Frank replied “See you soon.” ******
Fliss didn’t bother knocking. She opened the door to the apartment and was immediately barrelled into by a flurry of blonde hair.
“Hey!” she chuckled, dropping her bag. “Wanna let me get inside first Stack?”
Mary stepped back and Fliss straightened up and smiled as Frank walked into the kitchen.
“Hey, Beautiful.” he smiled, dropping a kiss to her lips. Mary sidled off into the main room, a smirk on her face.
“I stink.” Fliss warned “I mucked out twelve stables today.”
“Yeah, you’ve smelt better!” Frank laughed as she snorted. “You know where the bathroom is. Fresh towels in there. You need anything out of this or…” He gestured to her bag, as he went to pick it up.
“It’s just my clothes so…”
“I’ll put it in my room.” He smiled, giving her another kiss. “I would offer to come scrub your back but…” he inclined his head to the main room and Fliss gave a snort.
“Calm down, Sailor” she teased “Plenty of time for that later.”
“Promises, promises.” He grinned, picking her bag up and heading through to his room. He dropped her bag onto his bed, glancing round. He’d attempted to tidy a little bit after the realisation she’d actually never been in his room before. After their night together the previous week they hadn’t managed another night alone, Fliss being a little ‘uncomfortable’ at being together like that when Mary was literally outside the door and to be honest, it wasn’t something Frank was particularly happy about either. It had never bothered him before, because Mary was never there when he brought a girl home but this was different. That said, he knew he was going to have to find somewhere bigger soon, Greg had warned him it would likely be a condition of him being awarded Guardianship. He’d be lying if he said it wasn’t concerning him a bit, living pay-check to pay-check didn’t leave him a huge housing budge but he’d work something out, he always did.
Pushing the worry from his mind, he closed the bedroom door and headed back into the room. Mary was sat on the rug looking at the instructions to the new lego kit he had bought her for Thanksgiving.
“Sussed it out yet Stack?” He asked and she gave him a withering look. He bit back the laugh that was bubbling in his throat and sat next to her, taking from her, trying to figure the instructions out to make the Storm Trooper helmet, Star Wars being her latest obsession.
“That’s upside down…” She rolled her eyes, taking it from him to turn it the right way up.
“My bad.” He shrugged, looking at it again. “Ok, so…this piece…and we need one of these…” Together they began to pull together the elements they needed for the first section and the next time Frank looked up was when Fliss walked into the living area, a little shyly, wrapped in a towel. Her long, auburn hair was piled up on top of her head and her shoulders were speckled with water. She smiled as she padded past to his bedroom, Mary not even looking up as Frank watched her with his eyes as she closed the door behind her, giving him another smile. There was something so simple, so domestic about the situation, Frank couldn’t help but feel a warmth in his chest.
Roberta was right, he definitely had it bad.
“When we gonna give Fliss her present?” Mary asked, looking up at Frank.
“After dinner.” He said “Which reminds me, best turn the oven on.”
“Would be a start.” Mary agreed.
Frank rolled his eyes and stood up, heading into the kitchen. Shoving the stuff in the oven, he returned and found Fliss was now sat with Mary who was showing her the instructions.
“I LOVE Star Wars.” Fliss grinned, “So does my Dad. He has a Cinema Room in the house upstairs and a poster from every single Star Wars film on the wall. I’ll show you later tonight.” “A Cinema Room?” Mary asked. “Like, with a huge screen?” “Yeah. It’s pretty cool. When I finally get round to buying a house I’m gonna build one too.” “Do you think I could watch something in there tonight?”
“Mary,” Frank started to warn her but Fliss smiled.
“Frank it’s okay.” she said. “And yeah, course you can. If you have a favourite DVD we can take that or you can pick. We have loads on the hard-drive and Sky.”
It wasn’t long before they were sat round the small kitchen table which had been pulled into the living room to allow them more room. Frank and Mary both showed Fliss their favourite thing to eat in the world- Chicken Nugget Sandwiches. After a sceptical look, Fliss leaned over to take a bite of Frank’s as he offered it and gave a small laugh announcing that it was actually pretty good. After a large slice of Chocolate cake each that had been made for them by Roberta, they collapsed onto the sofa, Mary once more on the rug, Fliss groaning about the “food baby” she was growing, rubbing her hand over her stomach.
“Hey Frank?” Mary looked at him. “Is it time now?”
It took Frank a moment and then he realised what Mary was talking about. “Oh, yeah, hang on…”
He hopped off the sofa and headed into his bedroom, pulling the small gift bag from his dresser. He walked back into the living room and sat back down, shyly handing it to her.
“You got me a gift?” Fliss’ eyes went wide.
“Yeah.” Frank shrugged.
“You really shouldn’t have…” Fliss looked at him. “I didn’t get you two anything…” “That’s not the point of giving a gift.” Mary looked at her sternly. “You don’t give to receive, right Frank?”
“Right.” Frank nodded, leaning back on the sofa, looking at Fliss “And I wanted to…” he gestured between him and Mary where she was sat, Fred crawling into her lap, “…we wanted to, say thank you for everything over the last few months.” Fliss smiled at him and then Frank saw a childish excitement cross her face “Can I open it now?” He nodded, glad she was going to as he wanted to see her face when she did.
With delicate fingers she gently undid the ribbon that the woman at the store had wrapped it with and her mouth dropped open when she saw the white box which was emblazoned with the Pandora name and logo
“Frank,” she looked at him, before she opened the box and stared at the contents. She blinked before her hand gently covered her mouth as she saw the silver charm bracelet that was inside.
“I thought it was time you started a new one, for new memories.” He said gently as she reached into the box and took out the bracelet which held a single charm in the shape of a boat.
Fliss swallowed, and her eyes filled with tears. “I…” She took a deep breath and Frank frowned as he saw her struggling for composure.
“Hey,” he said, turning sideways on the sofa. His hand gently rubbed up her arm and she fell into him, pressing her face to his chest as he wrapped his arms round her.
“You made Fliss cry. On Thanksgiving.” Mary deadpanned, throwing a ping pong ball for Fred.
“Why don’t you go do that outside?” Frank asked. “Stay on the step.” Mary shrugged and stood up, doing as she was told.
“You ok?” He asked Fliss softly as his hands rubbed at her back. He placed a kiss to the top of her head and she nodded taking a deep breath.
“Sorry, that was…” she sat back, wiping her eyes. “Absolutely fucking ridiculous…”
“You do like it right?” he asked, suddenly feeling a little nervous.
“Baby, I love it.” She smiled at him, and he felt his chest swell not only at the fact she liked the gift, but that was the first time she’d used that particular pet name, and he kinda liked it. “I just, well, I can’t believe you remembered about my bracelets.”
He shrugged as she reached out to gently cup his cheek.
“Thank you.” she smiled softly, leaning over to kiss him. He happily leaned into the kiss, his tongue snaking into her mouth, sliding against hers as she met him movement for movement before there was a light cough and Frank groaned, resting his forehead against Fliss’ as he turned to look at Mary.
“What?”
“Need another ping pong ball. The last one flew under Roberta’s BBQ and I aint going under there…spiders and stuff.” She headed to the box at the back of the room, dug in and retrieved a net of ping pong balls, digging one out.
“Wanna go outside?” Frank asked and Fliss nodded. He stood up and held out his hand, pulling her up with him and they headed out after Mary.
A little while later, after a game of tag on the lawn which resulted in both the girls tackling Frank to the floor in a huge tickle fight, Fliss noting that he was ridiculously ticklish and filing it for future reference, they headed back inside, grabbed their things and after an almost tantrum from Mary who wanted to bring Fred and Frank refusing, they headed off in Fliss’ jeep for the yard to do the final checks for the evening. They were just about to head up to the field to make sure all the horses were settled and the waters were topped up when Bill walked onto the yard.
“Shouldn’t you be with mum getting stuff ready for the party?” Fliss frowned at her Dad, surprised to see him.
“Are you joking!” Bill scoffed “You know what she’s like.” He coughed and then put on a light, airey voice “Bill, those champagne flutes are grouped in threes, not fours. No, those plates don’t go there, they go there. What are you doing with that cheeseboard, the grapes go in the middle…”
Frank felt his eyebrow raise slightly as Fliss laughed. Champagne, cheeseboards? This was not the type of party he was used to, at all.
“Oh don’t worry.” Fliss clocked his face. “It descends into debauchery and chaos after about an hour, mum just likes to play the part of hostess with the mostess…”
“I like cheese.” Mary piped up.
“Good, we got plenty of it.” Bill said. “But, anyway, I dropped by for a reason. I picked something up earlier this afternoon that I think you might like.”
“Me?” Fliss frowned, but before she could say anything else Frank’s attention was taken by a man who was walking down the side of the barn. He slightly taller than Frank, quite stocky and had a shock of dark brown hair and looked ridiculously like Bill. Fliss gave a little shriek and ran towards the man, throwing herself into his arms as he laughed, twirling her round slightly before he dropped her to the floor.
“That’s her brother.” Mary supplied and Frank gave her a look.
“Yeah I kinda figured that.” He rolled his eyes. “How do you know anyway?”
“Saw a photo of him.” Mary shrugged.
Frank turned his attention back to the two siblings and Fliss was now looking between her father and her brother, confusion on her face. “What, I mean, how, why are you here?”
“In New York for a stag do on Saturday.” Steve replied “Thought I’d take the chance and pop down here for a day or so.”
“Does Mum know you’re here?” she asked.
“Yeah, she does now.” he laughed “There were a few tears when I rocked up.” “Frank made Fliss cry before.” Mary said, and all attention turned to Frank who hung his head and let out an audible groan.
“Seriously?” He looked at her as Fliss burst out laughing.
“Because I was happy.” She said, shaking her head “He bought me a new Pandora.” Frank didn’t miss the exchange of looks between father and son, both wearing identical expressions of surprise which morphed into soft smiles as Fliss moved and slid under Frank’s arm.
“Frankie, this is my brother Steve.” she smiled, as Steve stepped forward, holding his hand out. “Or Steeb, Steeby…whatever you want to call him.” “Nice to meet you.” Frank smiled as Steve shook his hand, his grip firm.
“Likewise.” Steve smiled “Heard a lot about you.” He then turned to his left and looked down “And you must be Mary.” “Yup,” She smiled, looking at him “Did you bring your kids?”
“Mary.” Frank warned gently as he looked at her, shaking his head.
“What?” She asked, “I was just asking a question. I wanted to meet them.” “No, not this time.” Steve smiled “Just a flying visit. But they’re coming over for Christmas so I’ve no doubt you’ll get to see them then.” He straightened up and smiled at Fliss. “Where’s that grumpy ginger Nag?” Fliss narrowed her eyes “Don’t you talk about Heidi like that. She’s in the top field.”
“I thought he was talking about V.” Bill mumbled to Frank who gave a snort, and then looked at the man, the pair of them bursting into laughter. By the time they had composed themselves, Steve and Fliss were stood, watching the pair of them, hands on their hips in almost identical poses.
“They do this all the time.” Fliss shook her head. “Come on, I’ll take you to see H. I was on my way up to check them all anyway. You coming Stack?” she looked at Mary. Mary grinned and ran forward, linking her hand into Fliss’.
Frank miss the eyebrow raised on Steve’s face, before the man smiled softly, dropping an arm round Fliss’ shoulder, pressing a kiss to the side of her head.
*****
Fliss changed quickly when they were home into a pair of jeans, a strappy top and a pair of sandals before the three of them walked over to the house after another near argument about getting Mary to leave the bucket of lego she had brought with her in the annex, which Fliss cleverly managed to avoid with the mention of the Cinema Room.
The house was busy, not packed but busy, and there was no way Frank was going to remember everyone’s names. But he smiled and shook hands as Bill introduced him to people, and he was surprised to find he felt at ease. Most of the people were older than him and Fliss, bar her brother of course, and it was a different circle and class of people he would normally mix with but he certainly didn’t feel like any of them were looking down at him, a stark contrast to how he used to feel at his Mother’s parties.
Well, they weren’t really parties, more like a gathering which rich snobs used to brag to other rich snobs about how much money they had.
“And this is Mike, Martin and Keith.” Bill said, nodding to the final three men, one of whom was giving Fliss a hug.
“You look great!” She beamed at him “How much weight have you lost now?” “40lb.” the man called Keith nodded and Fliss grinned.
“That’s awesome.”
“All down to the golf.” He smiled, gesturing to Mike, Martin and Bill “These guys drag me up there regularly enough.” “Frank hates golf.” Mary said. “Says it ruins a good walk.”
There was a pause as Frank groaned, wanting the ground to open and swallow him. He glared at Mary who looked at him, frowning.
“What?” She asked as Bill suddenly began to roar with laughter, the other men joining in.
Frank shook his head and looked round. “It’s just not my thing…”he said, by means of an explanation. “I prefer playing basket ball or baseball.”
“Each to their own.” The man called Martin beamed. “To be honest when I was your age I hated it too. Was far more into drinking and women.” “Frank likes that too.” Mary said, and Frank then really did give her a look.
“Shut up.” He said, but of course she didn’t as the men continued to laugh.
“Although I’m glad he finally got together with Fliss, because she’s my favourite. Miss Stevenson would not have been a good choice.” Frank groaned again and he felt Fliss beginning to chuckle besides him.
“Miss Stevenson?” Bill asked.
“We don’t need to hear about that…” Frank said, his neck growing hot.
“She’s my teacher.” Mary nodded “She stayed at our house one night. I wasn’t supposed to be there but I saw her coming out of the bathroom wearing Frank’s sheets and…” “Ok, Mary, why don’t we go and see the Cinema Room.” Fliss hastily cut her off as the three men were now all howling with laughter.
“Oh, okay.” she shrugged, before she pondered something “Why was she in your sheets Frank, and not in a towel like Lissy was before?”
At that Bill arched an eyebrow and Fliss felt her cheeks grow warm “I had a shower, I’d mucked twelve stabled out.” There was a pause before she recovered and steered Mary out of the room.
Frank grimaced and looked back round as Bill patted him on the shoulder, wiping tears of mirth out of his eyes. “I bloody love that kid.”
“She’s yours if you want her.” Frank said. “I could gift-wrap her for you. Just say goodbye to your private life being private.”
Thankfully the Cinema Room kept Mary out of the way, especially when she had a stash of popcorn, sweets and soda to keep her occupied. For the next few hours Frank stuck mostly by Fliss’ side, talking to people, chatting to her brother a bit about his job and the business he had taken over from Bill, his kids, but Frank got the impression the man was being a little guarded with him. He was polite enough, and wasn’t being rude but he wasn’t overly warm either. But he supposed that was understandable. She was Fliss’ big brother after all.
Mary came down a few hours later and tugged on Fliss’ hand. Fliss went with her and Frank headed into the kitchen to grab himself another beer after being told by Verity to “stop asking and just go get”. He turned round, flipping the lid off, almost bumping into Bill.
“Sorry.” He apologised to the man who smiled at him as he held the fridge door open.
“There’s someone who just arrived that I want you to meet.” Bill said, gesturing for Frank to follow him. With a slight puzzled frown, he did as he was told and wandered through to the large lounge where a number of people were congregated.
“Frank, this is Alan Maxwell.” Bill introduced a short, stocky white haired man who was wearing a pair of modern thin-rimmed glasses and a cream blazer over a dark polo necked shirt and dark jeans. Frank took him in, noting his outfit probably cost more than Frank’s entire wardrobe.
“Hi.” Frank smiled, shaking his hand “Frank Adler”
“The boat mechanic?” Alan asked.
“Yeah.” Frank looked at him then to Bill, frowning a little.
“Alan’s in the Repair and Retail business.” Bill offered and Frank gave a nod of understanding.
“I own MarineMax in St Pete’s” Alan smiled.
“Oh on Gulfport?” Frank looked at him and Alan nodded.
“You know it?”
“Yeah, you could say that.” Frank scratch at the back of his neck “I errr, I applied for a job once but I didn’t have the relevant experience so…” Alan looked at Frank for a moment, “How long you been a mechanic now?”
“Over six and a half years.”
“And you’re freelancing?” Frank nodded.
“Good success rate?”
“Over ninety-eight percent.” Frank said. “I mean, I only do one boat at a time because I’ve been juggling my hours around Mary for the last 7 years but…” he shrugged “I have regulars who come back so I must be doing something right.” “Could you get references?”
“Yeah.” Frank nodded “Pretty sure I could.”
“Hmmmm.” Alan looked at Bill who inclined his head towards Frank with a smile.
“I told you, I’ll vouch for him.” he shrugged “He’s sleeping with my daughter after all.”
“Jesus Bill.” Frank groaned as the two men laughed.
“It’s a compliment” Bill smiled “If I didn’t trust you I wouldn’t let you within three foot of her”
“Thanks, I think.” Frank looked at him taking a drink of his beer.
“Come see me next week.” Alan looked at Frank, pulling a card from his wallet and handing it over “I may have a position you’d be interested in.”
“I errr…” Frank was temporarily sideswiped by the suggestion “I…that would be…”
“I know it will be different to freelance but it’s a full time job, full package of benefits and a negotiable wage plus bonus scheme.” Alan said, I’m not a huge outfit, but I pay my guys well.” Frank nodded, placing the card in his pocket “I’ll stop by.” “Just give me a call the day before and I’ll make sure I’m around.”
“I will.” Frank nodded. “Thank you.”
Frank made his excuses, realising he hadn’t seen Fliss for a while and headed off looking for her. He moved from room to room, realising there was no sign of her or Mary. He headed into the kitchen and then poked his head out of the large bi-folding doors which led onto the large raised decking area which spanned the length of the house.
“Hey.” Frank spotted Fliss’ brother leaning on the railing, lit cigarette in one hand, beer in the other. “You seen Lissy?”
“She was in the living room last time I saw her.” Steve said chuckling slightly, shaking his head.
Frank frowned at the man’s demeanour and Steve noticed, and smiled. “Sorry, just seems strange. Hearing someone else call her Liss or Lissy other than the family.”
“Yeah, well, I kinda picked it up from Bill and it stuck.” Frank smiled.
“Yeah she doesn’t suit Felicity.” Steve shook his head “Although that’s all he ever fucking called her. Apparently nicknames were deemed too common.” “Yeah well, he’s a dick.” Frank shrugged
“No arguments here.” Steve looked at Frank. Frank watched as the man studied him for a second, clearly thinking about something before he returned to leaning on the rail of the decking, looking down over the huge garden area as he took a final drag from the cigarette, before stubbing it out in the fire bucket to his right.
“Okay,” Frank stepped outside, “let’s have it.” “Have what?” Steve asked, looking at him.
“The big brother lecture. The one where you threaten to rip my head off if I hurt your sister.” Frank said as Steve gave a huff of a laugh.
“Well, rest assured I will.” Steve looked at Frank as he too leaned on the railings. “But Dad says you’re a good bloke so, that’ll do for me.” Frank nodded and took a pull of his beer. “I have no intention of hurting her, in anyway.” he said, his voice loaded with meaning and Steve sighed.
“I know.” he said gently “I just, well, I worry.” “Understandable.” Frank nodded, and it was. He got it, he really did.
“I hated that fucker.” Steve shook his head, “right from the start. Smarmy assed, stuck up Yank. Sorry, no offence.” Frank laughed “Non-taken.” he waved Steve’s apology away.
“I know she’s only actually my step-sister but well she was only two when I met her and…”
“Blood doesn’t make you family.” Frank nodded. “If you ever meet my mother you’ll realise that.” “Yeah, Fliss wasn’t very complementary of her.” Steve snorted.
“She called her a cold hearted bitch to her face.” Frank raised an eyebrow as Steve laughed.
“I shouldn’t be pleased at that.” Steve smiled. “But not long ago she wouldn’t have been brave enough to be that outgoing.” “Oh she certainly isn’t backwards in coming forwards.” Frank shook his head
“Something he managed to suck out of her.” Steve sighed.
“You know, I’d love to get that fucker alone in a room” Frank glowered. “Five minutes, that’s all I’d need.” “Get in line.” Steve shrugged, “Behind me and dad.” “Yeah, Fliss said something about there being a queue.”
“The day she said she was moving to Boston to be with him full time, it was the worst day of my life. And Mum and Dad’s” Steve took another drink. “But we knew if we tried to stop her it would give him the perfect excuse to turn her against us. So what could we do but support it?” He hung his head slightly and Frank’s brow furrowed at the man’s open display of vulnerability
“I wish we’d done more, you know, anything, but we didn’t know how bad things had got. Not that he was hurting her, not like that.” “None of it was your fault.” Frank looked at him. “Or your parent’s. Or Fliss’”
“No, I know that but it doesn’t stop any of us feeling guilty.” Steve sighed. “But, anyway, it’s in the past now. That is until he goes for parole, which he will.” Frank shrugged “We’ll greet that when it happens.”
“Yeah?” Steve looked at him. “You ready for all that? Because I guarantee what she’s told you, well it won’t even scratch the surface, Frank.”
“Are you asking me if I’m gonna bail when the going gets tough?”
“Suppose I am, yeah.” Steve looked at him.
Frank took a deep breath and exhaled through his nose, quelling the frustration that was brewing at the man’s questioning, reminding himself that he had a right to worry, a right to be concerned. He’d feel the same if it was Diane in this position.
“Look, Steve, I know she hasn’t told me everything. And I’m not gonna push her to either. It isn’t important to me to know every sordid little detail of what that cunt did to her. What is important is that she’s happy with me, and that she feels safe and knows that I’d never hurt her like that and I sure as hell won’t abandon her when the road gets a little bumpy. She was there for me through a very bad time recently and, well…” Frank shrugged, “even if we decide that what we have isn’t working I’d still be by her side.”
Steve’s face remained passive for a second before it split into a grin “I don’t think there’s any worry about that, Frank. From what I’ve seen this afternoon and this evening, Lissy’s besotted. In fact, I’ve never seen her like this before.” Frank felt his cheeks flush a little and he looked down “Yeah, well, the feeling’s mutual.”
Steve opened his mouth to say something else but they were interrupted.
“My ears burning?” Fliss asked, eyeing the two men up.
“I was just making sure his intentions are honourable.” Fliss rolled her eyes with a snort “his intentions are honourable? What are you, like ninety?”
Steve shrugged “No, but I’m three years older than you and still your big brother Titch.” “Whatever, Steeby.” She moved over to where Frank was stood and slid under his arm. “Quit with the 3rd degree or I’ll tell Mum you’ve been smoking.”
“You wouldn’t!” he said in mock horror as she raised an eyebrow. Steve turned to Frank and raised his eyebrow, jerking his head towards his sister “Sure you know what you’re letting yourself in for?”
Frank laughed “her bark is worse than her bite…owww!” he said, as she nipped his arm.
“Sure it is.” Steve winked as h pushed himself off the railing and headed inside.
“Was he being an ass hole?” Fliss watched him go before she turned to Frank and he chuckled, pulling her closer.
“No,not at all.” he said, dropping a kiss to her lips “Where’s Mary?”
“With Dad in the living room with the guys from the golf club.” she said, shrugging.
“No doubt revealing more of my dark secrets.” Frank groaned.
Fliss laughed “Nah, she’s got her lego. Bill and her will have some kind of building contest going on no doubt.”
“I told her to leave those in the annex.” Frank shook his head. “She did. I took her to get them.” Fliss shrugged
“Seriously?” Frank looked at her, rolling his eyes.
“What? She was bored and wanted something to do.”
“You’re a pain in my ass.” he said, his arms circling her and she grinned as he dropped a kiss to her lips.
“Hush, Sailor, you love it.” she smirked against his mouth.
“Yeah, yeah I do.” he muttered, pulling her closer for a deeper kiss.
******
It was about midnight when the party started filtering out. Mary was crashed out on one of the sofas so Frank suggested they call it a night and Fliss, feeling the effects of a fair amount of alcohol, agreed. They made their goodbyes and Frank easily scooped Mary up and the three of them made their way, a little slower than usual, to the annex.
Once they’d roused Mary and she’d changed for bed Frank tucked her in, in the bed in the spare room and she was flat out before he even closed the door. He headed into Fliss’ room and laughed as she was led on the bed with her legs over the edge, feet flat on the floor. She was wearing just her bra and jeans, and her arm was bent over her eyes.
“My jeans are too tight.” she said.
“What?” Frank laughed.
“I can’t be bothered to take them off.” She leant up on her elbows and ginned at him “Wanna help me out Sailor?”
“Happily.” he grinned, and moved towards her but she stopped him.
“Ah ah.” she pointed to his polo-shirt. “Off.” With an arch of his eyebrow he reached back and grabbed a fist full of his shirt, pulling it over his head. “Better?”
“Yup.” she nodded as he moved towards her, gently dropping down and undoing her jeans. With a tug he pulled them down over her thighs, his hands softly tracing up her skin as she sighed, before his lips met hers.
“You were a hit in there.” she smiled gently, her fingers tracing the muscles on his arms as he propped himself up over her.
“Yeah?” he asked, gently shifting so that she moved with him, laying further up the bed.
She nodded. “Charmed the pants off all the posh bastards you did, Adler.” “There’s only one person I’m interested in charming the pants off.” He quipped and she laughed, shaking her head.
“Smooth.” “Is it working?”
She glanced down. “Nope, they’re still on.”
“Guess I’ll have to use my hands then.” He said, and with a quick move down he slid them over her ankles and gently pressed his lips to her knee, trailing soft kisses up the inside of her leg, nipping at the inside of her thigh. Fliss gave a soft sigh as he moved, his short beard scratching at her skin as he moved, her hands fisting in the sheets. When he reached his target he gently placed a long lick up her entrance. Instinctively, one of her hands fisted in his hair before she hastily moved it and Frank paused, reaching up, and placing it back where it had been.
“I like it.” He peeked up at her, a cheeky look on his face before he dropped his head back down and Fliss’s head fell back against her pillow as she gave a shaky moan.
She couldn’t remember the last time a man had gone down on her. John had certainly never done it, making it clear from the start he found it disgusting, but still happy to shove his dick in her mouth when he wanted a blow. But Frank ate her out like a man starved, moving his mouth as he paid attention to how her body reacted and when he found her spot, she gave a cry, her back arching off the bed, and she felt him double his efforts, his lips and tongue teasing her, in a delectable way. Pleasure lanced through her entire body, the heat rising from her very toes and as she felt her orgasm rising her fingers tightened on his hair and he gave a low moan at her touch, which vibrated through his mouth right against her clit and that was it. Her hips bucked upwards as she came, hard, her knees tightened slightly around his head, her arm flying to her mouth to stifle her loud moan.
Working her through her release, Frank moved back, stripping off the remainder of his clothes before he crawled up her body again, kissing his way up from her naval to her chest. She arched her back and he reached around to unhook her bra before he set his attention to her breasts. Fuck, he could listen to the noises and whimpers she was making all day but after a week he was aching for her.
“You got any…” he started to ask softly and she nodded, her hand gesturing to her bedside table. He paused and pulled open the drawer, and had to smirk as he saw the new, full packet of condoms in there. Pulling one out he opened it, whilst Fliss gently gave his dick a stroke causing him to hiss slightly, his fingers fumbling on the foil and she grinned.
“Something distracting you, Sailor?” “You know damned well what’s distracting me.” His voice was almost a growl as her hand moved over his whilst he rolled the latex down.
Her giggle turned to a moan as he buried himself inside her, his entire body feeling coiled like a spring, and his thrusts began slow, and deep before soon she was begging for more and he picked up the pace, each movement rolling against her spot, causing her to breathlessly whisper his name as he buried his face into her neck, nipping and biting at that spot that drove her wild. At some point she moved, gently pushing on his shoulders, and he understood, rolling onto his back. She straddled him, pulling her long hair over one shoulder as she leaned down to draw him into a deep, sultry kiss before she sank down onto him, taking him in.
“Fuck, Lissy,” he said, his hands gently gripping her hips as she began to move, rolling her pelvis, “God you feel so good.” She preened at his praise, yup, she definitely had a praise kink, and her pace quickened as she leaned forward again to kiss him, a moan falling from her mouth as he raised his hips to meet hers, his fingers tightening on her hips. Frank looked up at her, her mouth slack, lips plump, freckles still visible in the soft light from the outside lights, breasts bouncing softly as she moved.
“So beautiful.” He whispered, sitting up and she cried out at the change of depth as he pulled her close, thrusting up into her.
“Frankie, I’m…” and with a low whine her head tipped back as her release washed over her for the second time that night, a slow, deep burn which left her slack in his arms, as she collapsed forward. After a few more desperate thrusts he was right behind her, clinging to her, his face buried into her shoulder, his own groans stifled in her skin.
They stayed like that for a little while, both recovering, hands softly dancing over skin before he leaned up to give her a soft kiss.
“Thank you.” She whispered and he pulled back, frowning a little.
“What for?”
“For making me feel good. For making me feel wanted.” She swallowed, tears filling her eyes and Frank let out a sigh, his arms curling round her, pulling her close, his own chest tightening at her words as he understood instantly that it was clearly something she wasn’t used to.
“You deserve it.” He spoke softly, , “Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise.”
She moved back, her hands cupping his cheeks as she gave him another deep kiss, her lips curling into a smile and Frank smiled back, before he kissed her again.
***** Frank woke the next morning and, as he blinked, he realised he was alone. Sitting up he rubbed his eyes, and could hear soft voices from elsewhere in the annex. Grabbing his phone he looked down and with a start realised it was past ten. Running a hand over his face, he climbed out of bed, grabbed his bag and retrieved a clean pair of boxers and a t-shirt before retrieving his jeans which were now folded and placed over the back of the chair by Fliss’ vanity unit. After sorting himself in the bathroom he made his way downstairs and found Fliss and Mary sat outside in the small yard, an array of breakfast items on the table. Fliss long hair was pulled into a messy pony tail and she was wearing an oversized shirt and a pair of denim jeans. Even like that she looked effortlessly gorgeous.
“Morning.” He greeted, stepping out onto the decking and Fliss smiled at him.
“Hey.” She smiled, accepting the kiss he dropped onto her cheek before he sat down next to her. “Sleep well.”
“Hmmm I was tired for some reason.” He quipped, causing her to grin.
“Fliss says I can go ride Monty today.” Mary looked at Frank. “Is that ok?”
“It’s not your week for a lesson.” Frank spoke.“And it’s Friday.”
“It’s ok.” Fliss smiled. “The riding school is shut. Joanne’s done the morning shift so we can just go up this afternoon. I need to work Cap and Bronson but she can ride if she wants.” “Please.” Mary looked at Frank who sighed.
“I’ve gotta nip to the boat yard.” he looked at her. “Got some guy who needs a motor looking at and I said I’d meet him today.” “I don’t wanna go to the boat yard.” Mary pouted.
“It’s okay, she can come with me.” Fliss offered “I don’t mind, honestly.”
Frank hesitated, he didn’t want Fliss to think she was obliged to take Mary. He knew that the pair of them came as a package but still.
“You sure?” Frank asked. “Roberta would normally take her but she’s not back until tomorrow.”
“Yeah, its fine.” Fliss nodded “She can help me and Joanne.”
“Okay then, yeah, you can go.”
Mary grinned and turned her attention back to her book.
“You want breakfast?” Fliss asked, moving to stand.
“I’ll get it. You stay there.” Frank offered, but Mary suddenly jumped up.
“No it’s okay, we made you something special…” With that she shot into the kitchen.
“Special?” Frank looked at Fliss, and she grinned as his lips met hers.
“Yeah.” she nodded to Mary who emerged from the kitchen, giggling. Frank gave a snort of a laugh and shook his head as she thrust the box of Special K into his hands.
“Thanks…” he deadpanned, rolling his eyes.

Between the Two of Us ~ Chapter 7
Masterlist || Previous Chapter || Next Chapter
Summary: Jurdan High school AU. Rivals Jude and Cardan are forced to partner up for a history project, and drama ensues. Filled with banter, pranks, an unhealthy amount of pining, and Jude being clueless as usual.
Trigger Warnings: I don’t think there’s anything so far, but please let me know if there’s anything I missed!
~~~
Jude shifted in her seat uncomfortably as she glanced at Taryn in the driver’s seat, her light makeup and soft pink dress making her look sweet and innocent, especially compared to Jude’s mostly black outfit. Apparently, Taryn had also wanted to Cardan’s party, so they were forced to drive there together. A stilted silence hung over them the whole drive, and Jude did nothing to break it, opting to stare out the window.
Cardan’s neighborhood reeked of luxury. The houses sat far apart, with sprawling, perfectly groomed lawns. Cardan’s house, or better put, mansion, loomed in a secluded corner at the end of the street. The house was perfectly symmetrical, a balcony and long glass windows on each side, its perfection making it seem cold and impersonal. Golden lights reflected against the polished driveway, which was already packed with cars.
Jude could already hear the thumping music coming from inside. She closed the car door behind her and followed Taryn as they walked down the street towards Cardan’s house.
They pushed through the front door and into the entryway. Two gleaming staircases spiraled on each side of her, and through them was a living room, which was already littered with people. Music pumped through speakers Jude couldn’t see, and kids lounged on the couches in the seating area. The party was already in full swing, and yet everything was much more relaxed than Jude had expected.
“Text me when you want to leave,” Taryn said, voice raised so Jude could hear her, and then she quickly disappeared up the stairs, leaving Jude alone.
A few awkward conversations and a couple of drinks later, Jude found herself wandering to the kitchen. The elegant marble countertop was littered with empty cups, and a couple of kids Jude vaguely recognized sat on bar stools.
The fridge door closed, revealing Cardan, who was holding as many water bottles as he could fit into his hands. His cheeks were slightly flushed, his shirt collar slightly uneven, and Jude immediately relaxed at the familiar face.
His gaze caught Jude’s, and his mouth curved up into a smile. “You came.”
Perhaps it was the easygoing atmosphere of the party, but Jude let herself smile back. “I did.”
“How was soccer practice?” he asked innocently.
“It was definitely ‘sensational,’” she replied, hands making air quotes. “How proud were you of yourself for coming up with that?”
“You have to admit it was pretty good.”
“Yeah, yeah.” She shook her head dismissively and gestured to the water bottles. “You need help with those?”
Cardan blinked in surprise. “Sure.”
She leaned forward, taking the bottles that threatened to spill out of his arms into hers, her fingers brushing against Cardan’s warm skin.
“We can take these upstairs. A whole bunch of us are playing ping pong if you want to come.”
“Sure. But don’t blame me when I beat you in front of everyone.”
“That confident?”
“Of course,” she quipped, following him as he pushed their way up the stairs and into a wide game room. A plush couch sat facing away from them, angled towards the expensive flat screen TV against the wall, switched to the latest basketball game. Behind it was the table tennis table, and a group of guys surrounded it, cheering as one of the players scored a point.
Cardan set the water bottles on a counter in the far corner of the room, and Jude did the same.
Cardan gently grabbed her arm and pulled her towards the table tennis table. “You ready to lose?”
Jude scoffed. “In your dreams, Greenbriar.”
“Ok everyone, move it,” Cardan announced. “Duarte here thinks she can beat me.” The two guys playing rolled their eyes but handed Cardan the rackets.
“Knows. I know I can beat you,” Jude corrected. One of the guys who had been playing whistled. Adam, she recognized. She was pretty sure she had study hall with him.
Adam grinned at Jude. “Please put him in his place. This guy needs to knock his ego down a couple pegs.”
Jude laughed. “Tell me about it.”
Cardan ignored them, rolling his shoulders back and brushing a loose curl away from his face, offering Jude the ball. “I’ll let you serve.”
Jude just rolled her eyes and took the ball from his hands. “How kind of you. You ready?”
Cardan nodded and Jude served. The ball flew over the net, and Cardan quickly leaned to his right, but before he could return it, the ball spun sideways and out of his reach.
Cardan cursed, and a girl in the corner cheered.
Jude had failed to mention to Cardan that she had been playing table tennis at her local gym for years now and had even beat a couple of college students in a tournament. It was safe to say she was pretty good at it.
Cardan retrieved the ball from the floor and tossed it back to her. His dark eyes were filled with mirth when they met hers across the table. “Okay, Jude, I see how you’re playing.” A sharp flare of anticipation went through her as she lifted her racket for her next serve. This time, Cardan expected her move and hit the ball swiftly back, starting a back and forth rally between them.
When she missed a particularly hard corner shot, a smirk tugged at Cardan’s mouth.
“Okay, Cardan, I see how you’re playing,” she mimicked.
And so the game went.
After every point, Adam called out the score. A crowd began to form around them as the game intensified, sweat beading on Jude’s neck. The familiar urge to defeat him welled up inside her, the competition between them now in a tangible form.
It seemed Cardan thought the same, because his ever-present smirk was gone, his brow furrowed and lip bitten in concentration. The realization came, unbidden, that she found that intense look of determination very attractive on him.
The thought momentarily pulled Jude out of her competitive haze, and as Cardan lifted his racket to serve, Jude’s gaze caught on something over his shoulder, or more accurately, someone.
Locke was standing behind Cardan, his arms wound around a girl. She watched as Locke leaned forward and kissed the girl on the lips. A girl who, when she pulled back, had the same chestnut hair as hers. A girl Jude would recognize anywhere, because her appearance was a splitting image of her own.
Taryn.
Cardan hit the ball over the net, but Jude didn’t notice.
Everything clicked together. The date Taryn had been on when Jude needed the car. Her strange attitude after Jude’s had gone out with Locke, which now Jude recognized as jealousy. The cold distance growing between them that Jude had never understood. Nicasia’s warning that Locke ‘likes to create drama.’
Cardan’s voice brought her back to the present. “Come on, Jude,” he taunted. “That one was easy.”
Jude’s racket clattered against the table, her vision red. “That jerk.” If he wanted drama, she’d give it to him. After she slapped him.
She rounded the table, eyes narrowed, but Cardan blocked her. “What’s wrong?” His eyes followed hers to Locke, whose hand was on Taryn’s waist, and then back to her. Understanding dawned on his features surprisingly quickly.
“Please don’t tell me Locke was the guy that left the flowers at your door.”
“Unfortunately.” She moved to step around him, but Cardan stopped her again.
“Wait.” When she glared at him, he stepped back, chastened. “Look, don’t give him what he wants. He wants you to get mad and confront him.”
“So what? You want me to pretend nothing happened? That my twin sister has been knowingly going out with the same guy as me?” she seethed. How had she been so blind?
“No, Jude. Just wait it out and then you play him.”
She gritted her teeth, only the thought of revenge letting her acquiesce. “Fine.”
She turned her back to Cardan and Locke, leaving the table tennis table behind, and headed in the opposite direction, towards the table with drinks. She grabbed one, and then walked up to a girl with dyed red hair and a nose piercing who looked like she would help Jude. “Hey.”
The girl appraised Jude. “Hey.”
Jude’s anger left no place for embarrassment. “You see that guy over there? You think you can accidentally spill this drink all over him for me?”
The girl’s brow quirked, but she shrugged. “Sure.”
She pushed through the crowd until she was downstairs, not waiting to see his reaction. She made her way through the front doors, stepping out into the night.
She had been played. And Taryn had been a willing participant in her humiliation. And Jude had no idea why. There was literally no reason for Taryn not to tell her what was going on. A little, ‘hey, I’m seeing the guy who asked you out, by the way,’ couldn’t have been so hard, could it?
She was suddenly glad she hadn’t made a scene. She was going to humiliate Locke so thoroughly he’d regret ever messing with her. As for Taryn, she wanted to throttle her.
She knew her anger was masking a deeper hurt, but she wasn’t ready to think about it. She just wanted to leave.
Her hands went to her pockets, reaching for her keys, coming up empty. Of course Taryn had them.
She shut her eyes, swallowing hard, and leaned back against the cool surface next to the door. The wall vibrated faintly with the music, an echo of the night she could have had. The autumn air was frigid against her bare arms, and suddenly Jude felt very, very alone.
The door creaked open, the sound of the music heightening before fading back as the door shut.
“That was not how I was expecting tonight to go,” Cardan said.
She shrugged, feeling Cardan’s gaze on her. She waited for him to mock her for falling for Locke’s tricks, but nothing came.
Instead he dangled his car keys in front of her and said, “Want to get out of here?”
~~~
Cardan had decided that the only possible thing to do after finding out someone cheated on you was to get yummy fast food (he spoke from experience, he’d said). For all his babbling, he completely ignored her when she asked why he was ditching his own party.
They were on their way to the nearest burger joint when, at the first stoplight, Cardan connected his phone to the speaker. The first beats of a song began to play through the speakers.
“Is this…” Jude trailed off in disbelief.
Cardan nodded his head seriously. “Yes, yes it is,” he replied, before he began to belt the lyrics to none other than Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off. His voice wasn’t even half bad, despite the fact that he was half-shouting.
“Oh my God, please no,” Jude groaned into the palm of her hand as the chorus approached.
“Come on Duarte. You can’t resist this.” He turned up the volume.
“Cause the players gonna play, play, play, I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake,” he sang at her, aggressively shaking his head, and Jude couldn’t help but sing back, half laughing, “Shake it off, shake it off!”
Cardan’s answering smile was so wide, he was practically beaming at her. Something in her chest shifted at that smile, clicking into place. And then they were screaming the rest of the lyrics together, terribly off key and snorting with laughter, until Cardan turned into the drive through.
Cardan turned down the music, Jude felt almost giddy. She remained quiet as Cardan gave their order, sinking back into her seat, content. It seemed singing your heart out to Taylor Swift could cure all her problems. She definitely needed to do it more.
When they pulled up to the second window to pay, she reached for her wallet. Cardan rolled his eyes at her. “I got it.”
“What? No, I can pay.”
“I’m not paying for you. My dad is.” Cardan flashed a credit card at her and handed it to the lady at the cashier.
Cardan handed her the bag of food before rolling up his window and pulling into a vacant parking spot. The heavenly smell of fries wafted into the air, and Jude dug into the bag and handed Cardan his burger and fries before taking hers out and biting into it.
After a few moments of silence, save for the slurp of Cardan’s milkshake, Cardan finally asked, “So… you going to tell me what happened?”
Jude swallowed before responding. “What is there to tell? That the one guy who asked me out is some weird freak and went out with my twin sister at the same time and she went along with it?”
Cardan winced.
“Why can’t a normal guy just ask me out for once?” she groused.
“I think… most guys are intimidated by you.”
“Really?” Cardan gave her a look. “Okay, maybe I do come off as a little intimidating.”
“A little?”
Jude scowled, and grumbled, “I don’t want guys to be too intimidated by me to even talk to me.”
“Then maybe don’t glare when they try to approach you.”
“I don’t glare.”
“You do every time I approach.”
“You’re different.”
Cardan turned to her, challenging, “Yeah, how?”
“You know how,” Jude replied, rolling her eyes, and quickly changed the subject. “Wait, didn’t Locke cause drama between you and Nicasia too?”
Cardan blanched. “You could say that.”
Jude stared at him, waiting.
“Fine, she ditched me for him, okay? What is it about him that has all of you girls falling for him?” he joked, brushing it off.
“But I thought you two were… friends?”
“We’ve known each other our whole lives. Sometimes that’s the only thing holding up a friendship, and it wasn’t enough.” He shrugged. “Especially after what he did. We’re not not friends, but we’re not friends either, you know?”
She nodded, and they fell into a companionable silence, the radio humming faintly in the background.
What made someone qualify as a friend? The only person she could think of was the Bomb, and they’d barely known each other for a couple weeks.
She knew she tended to be a lone wolf, but it was probably pathetic that she barely think of one person. There were a couple of friends she made in school, but none she ever tried to hang out with beyond that. Somewhere along the line, she had gotten so used to figuring out everything by herself that she didn’t know how to do anything with anyone else.
But maybe it didn’t have to be that hard, she thought as she watched Cardan dig into the empty bag for any extra fries, the streetlight shadowing his face. Somehow Cardan had known exactly what she needed after tonight’s debacle, and it was the nicest thing anyone had ever done for her.
She took a sip of her milkshake, the sugary sweetness in harmony with her next thought. Because even if she didn’t exactly have the most experience with friendships, she couldn’t help but think that, despite everything, her and Cardan were very much veering into the friends territory.

Always be Yours- 7

Word Count: 8,000
Story Summary: Inspired by the 2 part I did of the same title. Follows Dean and Reader through season 9 into season 10
Chapter Summary: An old friend of Dean's calls needing help
Warnings: the usual. Cursing, fights and NSFW warning. Some steamy stuff happens
The little talk with Dean or more so the way he worded what he said helped you to push the feelings you thought you’d been developing for him to the side. You decided to blame it on the fact that for weeks you’d only been in close quarters with him, Sam and Kevin. Maybe you just needed to hit a bar and get some tension out of your system. You knew it wouldn’t change how you felt but hoped it may take some of the sting out.
You were curled up on a chair in the corner of the library leafing through one of the lore books on enochian spells hoping maybe just maybe the passage Crowley had translated was wrong. Cas had so much hope in him still that there was a way to help the angels that you refused to give up simply because of him.
You glanced up when Sam called out Dean’s name but knew you were tucked in a far enough corner the only way you’d be spotted was if you let your presence be known. It’d only taken you a week in the bunker to figure out what spots you could actually have a few moments to yourself in and Dorothy letting you all know about the garage only added to that, the night before you hadn’t been able to sleep so you ended up detailing half the classic cars just for something to keep your hands busy.
When he called Kevin then your name you let out a low whistle and saw him jump “Y/N?” you laughed before laying the book down in your chair and stepping around a corner “Looking for me Sammy?” he looked over your shoulder then back at you “Where were you at?” you grinned “Oh that’s for me to know and for you to never find out” he let out a short laugh “Ok then. You seen Dean?” you nodded towards one of the tables “He came in a little while ago and plugged his phone in. He didn’t see me either” the moment you were through speaking the phone started ringing. Sam looked at you so you shrugged “Your brother’s phone, you answer it”
You followed Sam over to the table and he picked up the phone “Hello?” After a moment he said “I’m sorry there’s no dee-dawg here” you looked up when Dean came around the corner saying “I got it, I got it” and grabbed the phone out of Sam’s hand “Sonny, hey so what’s up?” you looked towards Sam for an explanation of who Sonny was but he looked as clueless as you were.
Sam sat on the edge of the table so you leaned across his shoulders while Dean finished talking to whoever Sonny was “All right. Yeah just sit tight, I’ll be there as soon as I can” Once he hung up Sam asked “So what was that all about Dee-Dawg?” Dean took a breath and his eyes flicked towards you before he turned his attention to Sam “Remember when we were kids that spring in upstate New York?” Sam looked a little lost so Dean continued “Dad was on a rugaru hunt, we uh crashed at the bungalow colony with the ping-pong table” Sam nodded “Yeah, uh you disappeared. Dad came back and you were gone” that set off a red flag in your head as to where this story was going because Dean disappearing on Sam? No something unsavory had to have happened. Dean nodded then Sam added “He shipped me off to Bobby’s for a couple months that’s when I first met Y/N because her aunt had dropped her off at Bobby’s for a week. Then dad went off and found you, said you were lost on a hunt or something” hunt? You didn’t think Dean had started solo hunts until he was eighteen or older.
Your suspicions were confirmed when Dean said “That’s what we told you. Right” you pushed off Sam’s shoulder and tracked Dean’s movements with your eyes “What you told Sam?” Dean shrugged and looked between you both before saying “Truth is, I lost the food money that dad left us in a card game. I knew you’d get hungry so I tried the five finger discount at the local market and got busted. I wasn’t on a hunt they sent me to a boy’s home” “A boy’s home? Like a reform school?” Sam asked. Dean nodded “More or less. It was a farm and the guy who ran it, Sonny..he uh looked after me”
“Does Sonny know what you do?” you questioned and Dean nodded again “Yeah. he’s good people. I gave him the number to the bat phone and it sounds like he’s got something in our wheelhouse. So” Dean turned to walk out then stopped and looked back at Sam “You gonna be cool to do this or are you too tired?” Sam was mid yawn but said “Yeah, I’m just I’ll be fine” Dean looked over Sam at you so you nodded that you thought Sam was ok then inwardly groaned when Dean asked “So everybody is ok with heading out to the catskills?”
Sam looked back at you “I think he’s talking to you” you smiled “Yeah, I’m good Dean” and hoped he got the point when you shot him a look when Sam turned back around. “All right, grab your stuff then we’ll all head out” before Dean could walk out Sam asked him “Why not just tell me you were sent to a boy’s home” Dean shrugged “It was dad’s idea then the story became the story. I was sixteen” then walked out to grab his gear. Sam looked back at you for help so you said “I don’t know either Sam. We were twelve at the time. Aunt Lena always said John could’ve done better by you two even with him choosing to be a hunter and I more than agree” Sam nodded then stood up “Well let’s grab our stuff so we can head out”
------
You sat in the backseat of the impala quiet for most of the drive only arguing with Dean over the radio a couple times. When he pulled onto the gravel road that had a farmhouse at the end and a sign that read “Sonny’s home for boys” you sat up straighter and grabbed your jacket to pull on. You were about to see a part of Dean’s past even Sam hadn’t been privy to before that moment.
You walked around the back of baby looking around at the property while Sam told Dean “You were here for two months and dad couldn’t find you?” You turned to look at them when Dean said “Oh, no. He found me. He found me quick. But he left me here cause I lost our money” “You were sixteen! You made a mistake” you quickly argued refusing to let Dean’s self deprecating nature win out yet again.
“Yeah, I made the mistake. Look I know how you two think. None of this was dad’s fault” Sam rolled his eyes and looked at you so you took the opening to say “Just as quickly as he dumped Sam off at Bobby’s for the couple months he could’ve left you both there to go after the rugaru” then walked towards the house leaving both of them to have to catch up with you.
------
You knocked before Dean even made it to be standing next to you. He looked your way but you simply met his gaze refusing to give on what you’d said. A woman answered and crossed her arms looking between the three of you “What can I do for you?” Dean smiled “I’m Dean, this is my brother Sam and this is our friend Y/N. We’re old buddies of Sonny’s” “You boys prison buddies?” she asked and you stifled a laugh considering Dean had once been on the FBI’s most wanted list. Dean shook his head “No, uh you mind telling him we’re here?” She nodded “I’ll go get him”
She opened the door then looked down at the fact that all three of you were wearing boots. “I just mopped this floor so off with the roach stompers” you bent to pull your boots off while she walked away to find Sonny. “So Sonny’s an ex con huh?” Sam asked and Dean scoffed “What? Like we’re such angels?” you raised an eyebrow at Sam “Lena spent two years when she was in her early twenties Sammy. Someone’s past doesn’t define them”
Dean tilted his head at you and added “Trust me, like Lena he’s more than made up for it” You followed Dean into the house with Sam right behind you.
------
You were standing between the two of them when who you were guessing was Sonny walked around the corner with a smile “Dee-Dawg” Dean smiled before the two of them hugged and Dean said “Sonny, good to see you man” “You too brother” Sonny replied. When they pulled apart Sonny looked at Sam first “You must be Sam”
Sam offered his hand and the two of them shook “Good to meet you” “Back at you brother” then Sonny looked at you “And this must be Y/N” you smiled and shook Sonny’s hand “Nice to meet you” he smiled “You too ma’am”
“Farm looks nice” Dean said and Sonny scoffed “Please man, it’s barely standing. Only got a handful of kids working around here now” “Why’s that?” Dean asked and Sonny shook his head “Cause these days the system would rather incarcerate a boy then redeem him” Sam looked off and you followed his sight to see the lady that had let all of you in but you weren’t sure if something was wrong until he said “Hey Sonny, um you mind if we talk alone?”
Sonny got the message so he looked back at the lady “Hey Ruth, would you please go check on the boys? Make sure their morning chores are getting done?” When she walked away Dean asked “So, what’s happening?” Sonny took a breath then said “You remember Jack don’t you?” Dean nodded “Yeah the tough old leatherneck” “Well somehow that ancient,rusty broken-down tractor just roared to life and ran him over the other night” “Maybe it slipped out of park?” Sam offered but Sonny shook his head “Couldn’t have. You know I never believed any of this mumbo-jumbo stuff you all are into, but something ain’t right”
“What do you mean?” you questioned and Sonny explained “Well just things started happening. You know, flickering lights on and off, strange scratching coming from inside the walls. Window and doors slamming” you nodded “Yeah sounds like an us thing” “Think you can round up the boys while we take a look around?” Dean asked and Sonny nodded “Shouldn’t be a problem, most are home on breaks. Well, except for the ones with no home worth going to” you didn’t miss the way he looked at Dean when he said that last part.
Sonny left to round up the boys so Dean turned back to you and Sam “Sam, why don’t you take the house? Me and Y/N will take the barn” “Yeah” Sam replied meeting your eyes before you turned to follow Dean out the door. You both stopped long enough to slip your boots back on then you followed him down the steps.
------
“So what was it like?” you asked walking into the barn behind him. He shrugged without turning around “Ok, I guess” you felt like there was a lot he wasn’t saying but you knew Dean well enough to know forcing him to talk simply wasn’t an option.
You stopped when you saw the tractor in question and grimaced at the dark stains that you knew were blood. You saw Dean pull the emf detector out of his jacket pocket and watched it once he fired it up to see if it gave any reaction. The moment he turned it on it started going insane. He looked towards you then said “All right Casper, where are you at?”
You walked next to him further in the barn then heard a little kid laughing, both of you following the sound. Dean knew the layout of the barn better than you so for once you had no complaints about having to let him take the lead. He slid open another door and waited for you to follow him through. “Hello?” you called out once both of you were into the other part of the barn. There was no response so Dean tried “Anybody here?”
You pointed behind Dean and he spun around to see the kid that had seemingly popped up out of nowhere behind him “Hey kid, what are you doing in here by yourself?” Dean asked him and his response? “Fighting monsters” ok point for the kid considering that’s what you and Dean were currently doing. “What kind of monsters sweetie?” you asked and he smiled and showed you the action figure in his hand “All sorts with Bruce the monster smasher”
The little action figure was complete with cape and all. You weren't going to say anything but leave it to Dean to point out “Is that a cape? Little impractical for smashing monsters huh?” “Yeah flannel doesn’t sell as well” you muttered and Dean gave you a small shrug “Just saying”
The little boy hit the button on Bruce and it said “I clobber evil” Dean chuckled lightly “I bet you do” then held his hand out “I’m Dean and this beautiful lady with me is Y/N” you rolled your eyes at Dean but smiled when the little boy said “I’m Timmy” “Nice to meet you Timmy” you told him but when he shook Dean’s hand he barely gripped his fingers so Dean tilted his head then squatted down “Let’s try that again. If you’re gonna be a man you gotta learn to shake like one” He offered his hand to Timmy again “Give me your best kung fu grip” Timmy did what he said and Dean nodded “Good. Now look me straight in the eye. Let me know that you mean business and shake as hard as you can” you tried to look anywhere in the barn but at Dean being downright fatherly but good lord you were only human.
Timmy’s smile got even bigger so Dean asked “Timmy, did you know Jack who worked here?” When he said that Timmy’s smile dropped “Uh huh” so you squatted down next to Dean “What can you tell us about him?” “He yelled a lot. He was yelling when he had his accident”
“How do you know that?” Dean questioned and Timmy replied “Because me and the other boys were playing here when it happened” “Did you see anything?” you asked but Timmy shook his head so you added “Is there anything about that night that you can remember? Anything at all”
You could see the kid thinking hard about his answer before he finally spoke “It suddenly got really cold..Can I go? I’ve got to finish my chores before Ms Ruth gets mad?” Dean chuckled softly “Man that Ruth she runs a tight ship right? Yeah you better roll” Timmy ran out so you stood up and looked around the barn “Have there been any deaths here before Jack?” Dean shook his head “None that Sonny knows about anyways” you let out a breath “Well looks like we’ve got to figure out just who is haunting this place before we can figure out the why”
Dean nodded so you bumped him lightly with your shoulder and nodded towards where Timmy had left “You were good with him Dean” He scoffed “Please, he was probably just focusing on you the entire time he was talking to me” “No that was all you Winchester” you replied with a smile as the two of you headed back towards the house.
------
Ms Ruth had told Sam about the previous owners of the farm Howard and Doreen Wasserlauf and the fact that when Jack worked as a farm hand for the couple Howard got it into his head that Jack and Doreen were having an affair. He tried to kill them both but Jack got away, Doreen wasn’t so lucky. Howard had died in prison the year before and had always sworn he’d get his revenge on Jack so that led all three of you to Howard’s final resting place.
You sat on the edge of the grave watching as the boys shoveled dirt out. All three of you couldn’t fit and there was no part of you that wanted to get stuck between two guys their sizes. “Why don’t one of you take a break and let me shovel for a bit?” you offered so Sam held his shovel out “Have at it” you hopped down in the hole next to Dean and Sam pulled himself up to stand next to the headstone.
You felt your back bump into Dean’s but there was more room with the two of you digging than with him and Sam. Sam was quiet for a few moments the only noise the sound of the two of you shoveling dirt until he finally spoke to Dean “So, dad didn’t want you to tell me. How come? Was this place really that bad” Dean shrugged cutting his eyes towards you before he said “I don't know. I don't really remember. Look, nobody bad touched me. Nobody burned me with their smokes or beat me with a metal hanger. I call that a win” you stopped shoveling long enough to say “Fuck your standards are low arent they?” Your shovel hit the casket so you reached for Sam’s hand and he helped you up out the hole then hopped back in next to Dean.
You handed Dean the salt and Sam the lighter fluid out of your bag. After they’d salted and soaked the corpse they both climbed out to stand next to you so you lit the match and flicked it in “Bye Howard”
------
Dean decided that you and Sam had to try the banana pancakes at Cus’s place. While you and Sam were looking at the menu you glanced up and saw that Dean was looking at the woman working the counter and felt your heart fall. Fuck you had to find someway to get over whatever feelings you’d developed for him with a friendship still intact for Sam’s sake if nothing else.
You dropped your eyes down and pulled your phone out with the excuse of checking your emails. Maybe Garth or the Banes twins needed some assistance with a hunt. That would give you an excuse to hit the road without the boys freaking because you’re hunting alone amidst everything with the angels and Abaddon.
The woman in question walked over and you glanced up long enough to see her name was Robin. “Welcome to Cus’s what can I get you three today?” Dean had that patent smile in place so you rolled your eyes at him but refused to be rude to her. “Bet you never thought you’d see me here huh?” Dean asked her but you’d turned your attention to Sam where the two of you were debating splitting a breakfast plate since neither of you were exactly starving.
She brushed him off “Look, I’m a little bit slammed right now. Do you want to hear the specials?” you cut your eyes at Sam who was just as intrigued by whatever you and him were missing between Dean and Robin as you were. “Robin.. Dean Winchester? I used to live at Sonny’s?” “Oh, look sorry there’s just so many boys that pass through there it’s hard to remember every name and face” she looked towards you and Sam so you nodded “Oh I get it believe me”
You almost felt bad when Dean looked embarrassed “No, it’s fine. I remember you coming with your mom up there when she’d give guitar lessons. It was a long time ago” Robin smiled and you had to admit she was really pretty “Yeah mom loved helping out the boys. I guess that;s why I kept giving lessons after she passed” a woman from the back called Robin so she excused herself by saying “I’ll be right back”
“Dude!” Sam started but Dean cut him off “Let’s go” before you or Sam could react Dean was grabbing his jacket and walking out so you rushed to follow Sam behind him.
------
Once all of you were outside Sam asked “Dude, what was that?” you were just as curious but Dean said “Nothing” and his phone ringing saved a lot more awkwardness even though Sam being the perpetual little brother was asking you who you thought the waitress was. Dean shook his head and answered his phone “Sonny?” you and Sam both dropped any teasing when he said “What?”
------
Ms Ruth had drowned in the bathtub and according to Sonny he tried to get in to save her but the door wouldn’t open. When Sam questioned if it could’ve been locked Sonny shook his head and explained that there were no locks on the farm. “That means our little field trip to the cemetery was a bust” you uttered feeling like you always did when someone was lost on a hunt. You hated losing people.
Dean nodded “Sonny, is there anything else weird you can remember?” “What, cause we’re not chest deep in weird already?” you smoothed a hand through your hair “I know but Dean means anything like at all that you’d consider weird or out of the ordinary?” Sonny glanced away but you could see when a thought occurred to him “There was one thing. Ruth always had her rosary beads with her but now I can’t find them anywhere” “All right um let’s start with the vics ok?” Sam offered so you nodded “Both lived in the house, worked closely with the boys”
Dean agreed and said “Well let’s have a chat with the rugrats Y/N. See what’s up” You and him left Sonny and Sam in the yard and headed up the hill towards the house.
------
You could hear the boys taunting Timmy before you ever saw them. Calling him a weirdo and asking if he was going to cry. You saw when it hit Dean that big brother instinct kicking in to the fullest. When you walked around the corner two bigger boys had Timmy shoved against the house so Dean hollered “Hey, hey. Hey!”
He pushed one back and snatched the other away from Timmy “What are you doing? Come here” You stood back choosing to let Dean handle the situation. He looked back towards Timmy and asked what was going on. Timmy didn’t respond so Dean turned to the older boys “All right you two where were you this morning when Ruth had her accident?” They looked at him then shook their head “Unless you’re a cop, We don’t need to tell you anything” You happened to have your badge in your jacket pocket so you flipped it out and whistled to get their attention “He’s my partner boys so speak”
Dean smiled smugly as the bigger of the two said “We weren’t even here this morning. Sonny sent us into town to get chicken feed. We swear” They seemed genuine enough but you still asked “What about Ruth? What can you tell us about her?” the boy who hadn’t spoken yet said “We used to call her the warden. She was a real bible thumping hard ass” way to speak about the dead before she was even cold but you let it go. “Obviously, what else. Anything different or weird?” “You mean besides Timmy?” The bigger boy joked and you narrowed your eyes at him before Dean said “Either of you touch him ever again. I’m gonna go all guantanamo on you and I’m the good cop here. Understand me?” they looked back at you so you smiled sweetly to push Dean’s point. “Now get the hell out of here you little rats”
They ran off so you and Dean checked on Timmy. He said he was ok so you headed inside to find Sam.
------
You were helping Sam go through records when a scream ripped out so Dean and Sonny ran outside to check on the boys. Robin hadn't long showed up to start her weekly guitar lessons. “You know Dean was Sullivan county’s one hundred and thirty five pound wrestling champion when he was here?” you looked up from the file in your hand “Really? You know I’m thinking he remembers more here than he’s letting on and I’m betting his time here was good”
Time passed and Dean walked back in the door “Kids good, gonna need about eight thousand stitches” “That kid was bullying Timmy before the accident right?” Sam asked and you knew where he was headed because he’d already bounced the idea off of you. You held out the file Sam had shown you “Timmy was found in an abandoned building a year ago by himself. No one was sure how long he’d been there” “What about his parents?” he asked handing the file to Sam “Well, they posted a picture on the internet but no one ever showed up”
The working idea was ghost possession which meant shoving salt down the kids throat for a forced ejection. Dean sent you back to the barn with Sam while he looked through the house.
------
Inside the barn you found a little hideout in the loft of it. In that hideout you found drawings which basically told you Timmy’s entire story, showing a wreck and how he’d come to be alone.
“We need to tell Dean” you said and Sam nodded in agreement.
------
The moment you and Sam were walking into the backdoor Dean and Robin were running towards you “Go!” you reached for the door but it was locked. “Damn it” Dean hollered so you ran to the cabinet and grabbed the salt then threw it at Sam “Circle!” so he set about making a circle around Robin.
“Dean, what just happened in there?” Robin asked. You shook your head “Robin just whatever happens don’t leave this circle” she looked at Dean then back at you and nodded.
Timmy walked into the entryway “I can’t control her” “Who?” Dean asked but you knew the answer “Your mom right?” Dean looked at you for an explanation when Sam asked Timmy to tell you both about the fire. Him recounting what happened broke your heart for the kid but the fact remained his mom was the ghost killing people and from what he told Dean his action figure was the anchor so Dean turned the oven on and threw the action figure into the flame as you pushed Timmy to Robin inside the circle.
Turned out it was in fact not the action figure but Timmy himself working as the anchor. Dean managed to get through to Timmy so he could break the anchor and let his mom go. You ran to check on both boys once she let them go. “I’m good” Dean grunted and Sam nodded.
You watched as Timmy’s mom finally got to move on with a small smile then he ran to you and Dean and threw his arms around you both.
------
You tried not to watch Dean and Robin but failed. Sam put his arm around your shoulders where you both stood next to baby “You good?” “Peachy”
All of you said your goodbyes to Sonny then hit the road.
------
You were sitting quietly in the backseat until Dean cleared his throat “Anybody up to stop for the night?” you still had a few states to go so you said “Why not?”
He pulled off at the next exit and stopped at the first motel which was the bluebird inn. He glanced your way in the mirror “What’d you think?” you shrugged “Dean you and Sam have slept in baby and I’ve slept in my jeep. This is a five star resort simply because if we have to sleep in here I’m taking the whole backseat and you two can fight over the front” He grinned “Here it is then”
You helped Sam gather the bags while Dean got a room then you both followed him. He unlocked it and you started to simply collapse onto one of the beds but the shower was calling your name. “First shower!” you announced running to the door before Dean and playfully stuck your tongue out at him when you got there first.
--------
While you were in the shower Sam went on a food run,him and Dean were eating when you stepped out the bathroom. “Who wants it next?” Sam had less food than Dean so he closed his plate “I’m next”
You sat across from Dean at the small table and picked at your food. “Something wrong sweetheart? I’ve seen you order orange chicken every time we get chinese” you shook your head “Guess I’m more tired than hungry, which Winchester do I get the pleasure of listening to snore tonight?”
"I can take the couch” he offered and you rolled your eyes “Just for that now you must share a bed with me” he grinned “Is that so?” “Yes it is” you teased and by the time Sam got out of the shower you were already curling up under the blanket on the bed nearest the bathroom. “Night Sammy” “Night Y/N”
-----
You were half asleep when Dean climbed into the bed behind you “Y/N, it’s a little cold but I don’t want to get punched here” he whispered so you lifted the blanket and felt his feet bump the back of your legs so you rolled over to look at him “I can sleep however which position do you prefer?” he smiled at you “There are so many ways I could answer that but I’m taking the win that you’re finally in a bed with bed” you rolled your eyes and said “Goodnight Dean” “Night sweetheart”
You closed your eyes and felt him trying to get comfortable without invading your side of the bed so you opened one eye and threatened “If you do not go to sleep I will sleep on you dammit” “I’m in the room!” Sam groaned and you laughed realizing what you’d said “Sorry Sam but your brother is a fucking wiggle worm over here. Not like I’m the first woman that’s been in bed with him” “First one I know will kick my ass if my hand slips” Dean muttered and you looked up at him. He was so damn close and you could smell that scent of leather and gunpowder that always seemed to cling to him and it took everything in you to not close the space between your lips.
"Y/N about what Charlie said.." You closed your eyes at the wave of embarrassment that came along with those words. Christ he knew, he knew and had flirted or tried to flirt with Robin in front of you. How much of a sign did you need that he'd never feel the same about you, you'd always be his little brother's best friend to him. "Can we just go to sleep?" You begged quietly both of you trying to keep your voices down as to not disturb Sam again.
You felt his fingers lightly brush across your cheek "If you open your eyes for me and just listen I'll gladly go to sleep after I say what I want to" you slowly opened your eyes and took a deep breath before meeting those green eyes you loved so much. "Dean I'm not some kid you can just say you don't feel the same ok?"
"What if I do though?" Your heart was pounding so loudly in your ears you weren't sure if you'd heard him right so you asked "What?"
"It's took me a little while to figure it out but sweetheart living in close quarters with you, hunting with you... I've got to see another part of you. I've always known you were smart and a damn good hunter but you're also the type of woman to make everyone dance in the kitchen first thing in the morning. You can make Sam laugh at any given moment and you make me talk about things going on inside my head when anyone would else would give up at it. You can comfort someone one moment and scare the fucking hell out of a demon the next. You're beautiful when you first wake up and a knockout when you go undercover and I really want to kiss you right now but.." You cut him off by pressing your lips against his.
The momentary surprise of you kissing him wore off quickly. You felt when he shifted slipping an arm around your waist to pull you closer to him. His lips moved against you gently, savoring the feeling.
A noise from Sam's bed made you pull apart quickly and you both looked over to see he was actually fast asleep and had just knocked a pillow off the bed. Dean let out a low laugh leaning his forehead over onto your chest "Guess that's our cue to get some sleep?" He asked leaving a light kiss on your throat before looking back up at your face.
You nodded trying to get your voice to work correctly "Um how do you want to sleep?" He settled onto his back and pulled you over to be laying on his chest. Your hand smoothed across the black t-shirt he was wearing trying to slow your brain down a bit to process what had just happened. "Already regretting wanting me?" He asked with the hint of a smirk but you could hear the actual hesitation under the sarcasm. You shook your head and laughed "Was just thinking Sam's reaction if he'd woke up to us kissing in the bed across from him" "He would've thrown something at us both" he joked then lightly kissed your forehead "Get some sleep. If you still want this come morning then we'll tell Sammy"
You fell asleep from the feeling of his fingers gently moving through your hair.
-------
Sam whispering "So are you two finally together now or what?" to Dean was the first thing you heard when you started to wake up the next morning. You almost had the urge to remain quiet to see what Dean would say but instead you spoke as you stretched "Unless he's already changed his mind" making both of them look your way with a guilty expression.
Dean was standing at the foot of Sam's bed repacking his bag and winked at you "Oh no Sweetheart. I'm a lot harder to get rid of than that" you smiled sleepily then cut your eyes at Sam "Unless you want to see me kiss your brother I suggest you make the coffee run" Sam laughed and grabbed the keys to baby "I'll grab breakfast too while I'm out"
Dean watched him walk out then turned around and looked at you "So I got offered a kiss?" "Come get it" you replied and he grinned walking over to the bed. He slowly climbed onto the bed bracing his weight on his arms as he hovered over you "Good morning" he said before ducking his head down to catch your lips in a tentative kiss.
You slid your arms up around his shoulders to pull him closer as he deepened the kiss. When you pulled away to catch your breath he moved down to your neck nudging at it until you moved enough to give him complete access. He kissed across it licking then nipping at the places that pulled a response out of you. When he bit down gently on your pulse point you let out a low moan "Fuck, do that again" he growled against your skin biting down just a little harder. You bucked your hips up against his letting out a light gasp when he ground down into you "Dean, christ either we've got to stop or this is going to go further than a few kisses"
He made his way back up to your face and this time when he kissed you it was more possessive but just as gentle "I don't want you thinking that's all I'm after here" he whispered against your lips letting one hand trail down your side smiling at the little shiver you gave when his fingertips slid under your shirt and brushed across the bare skin. "And I'm happy about that Dean, really I am but waiting is easier said than done when you're touching me" he chuckled darkly then looked up at your face "Well what do you want to do here sweetheart? Because I'm yours no matter if we have sex or if we wait. You're stuck with me now"
You took a few deep breaths then nodded "As much as I'd love to, I kind of don't like the idea of Sam waiting outside in the car for us to finish?" He smiled and kissed you once more "Fine by me. I'll let you get dressed and be a gentleman about it" he climbed off the bed and you saw him readjust himself in his jeans and had to stifle a laugh. He cut his eyes back at you "Laugh now sweetheart but the moment you tell me you want to, I'm going to do my best to make it hard on you to walk for a few days" you bit your lip at the promise and right before he walked outside you said "Well we are headed back to the bunker where we have two different bedrooms we can break in" he winked at you then stepped out the door shutting it behind himself.
------
The ride back to the bunker you rode in the backseat as usual despite Sam's offer to switch seats. You didn't plan for that much to change about the dynamic you'd built with the boys. Just because you were now with Dean didn't change anything, did it?
You must have fell asleep at some point because the next thing you knew Dean was gently shaking your shoulder "Come on sleeping beauty, we're home"
You rolled your eyes then sat up straighter "Sam already head inside?" He nodded "We stopped to grab some food so he went to round Kevin up" You climbed out and reached back in for your bag but Dean beat you to it. You eyed the bag and he shrugged “Oh come on Y/N. You can let me shove my tongue down your throat but you wanna argue about me carrying your bag?” “Fair enough” you replied and was rewarded with one of those smiles that always made your heart flip. He held his hand out so you took it and let him lead the way inside.
-------
The moment the two of you made it into the interior door you heard Kevin say “I honestly thought they were already sleeping together” You stopped dead in your tracks and cleared your throat “Excuse me?” Kevin glanced up to see you and Dean standing at the head of the stairs and the guilt was clear on his face. He grinned then gathered his food “As I was telling Sam I am mid marathon on Netflix so I am going back to my room” you watched him scamper away and couldn’t help but laugh. Times like that you were reminded just how young he still was and it hurt your head to think about everything the kid had been through.
You followed Dean down the stairs and took your bag from him “I’m going to go put my stuff away, you two leave me some food”
------
Dean watched you walk down the hall then looked back to see Sam was watching him. “What Sammy?” “Nothing, just you two are good together. I’ve seen it for a while” Sam answered with a shrug then grabbed his own bag and food “I’m going to go put my stuff away and grab a shower” “You headed to bed this early?” Dean questioned but Sam shrugged once again “Heading to bed, making sure I don’t stumble upon my brother and best friend in a compromising position however you want to put it”
------
You stepped out of your room and headed back towards the kitchen expecting to find Sam at the table but Dean was sitting alone and glanced up when you walked in. “I know Kevin retreated but where’d Sam get off to?” “Something about not wanting to catch us in a compromising position” he replied, taking a sip of the beer in his hand.
Since Dean had already voiced the fact that he was concerned if the two of you slept together this soon you’d think he was only after sex you tried to act as if you’d thought about anything else besides how his lips felt on your skin. You walked to the fridge trying to ignore the way his eyes tracked your movement as you grabbed a beer out then walked back over to the table. “So what he thinks now we won’t be able to be around each other without you trying to throw me down on the nearest flat surface?” Dean’s eyes skimmed up your body, biting his lip before he finally said “Something like that”
You took a sip of the beer and tried to look anywhere but at Dean as you said “So if I suggested we go to your room?” He was on his feet and to your side before you got the question out completely “I mean if you want” you took another swig of the beer then sat it down on the counter “Let me rephrase myself. Dean, can we go to your room now?” He smirked then pulled you into his arms capturing your lips in a lingering kiss full of unspoken promises. When he broke away from your lips leaving you a bit breathless he said “Lead the way sweetheart”
------
You stumbled into Dean’s door both of you working to kick your shoes off without breaking the kiss. Once you were inside he shut the door then pushed you back against it. He pulled back from you, both of your chests heaving slightly “Are you sure about this Y/N? About me?” “Just shut up and kiss me Dean” you replied with a slight laugh.
His hands went to the hem of your shirt and he hesitated for a moment before pulling it over your head letting it drop out of his hands once he had you bared. He started at your neck kissing down your jaw then across your collarbone savoring every sound he was able to pull from your lips. When he closed his mouth over your clothed breast you let out a low moan “Dean, bed please” he smiled against your skin and you felt his hands slide across your ass before he gripped your thighs to pull you up into his arms. You wrapped your legs around his waist capturing his lips in a messy kiss.
He walked the few steps to the bed then lowered you down onto it before pulling back long enough to pull his own shirt off then he climbed back onto the bed hovering over you. “I’ve wanted this for a while” he confessed, leaning his head down to kiss across your chest. “So have I” you whispered not trusting your voice to speak much louder. He chuckled then you felt his hands slide around you so you lifted up far enough he could unsnap your bra then he threw it somewhere behind him.
“Look at you, so damn beautiful” he murmured rolling your left nipple into his mouth teasing it with his tongue and teeth. “Oh fuck, Dean” you moaned tangling your fingers into his hair. He switched sides giving the right breast the same attention. You bucked your hips up against his and could feel how hard he already was through your jeans. “Use your words princess” he teased as he moved to leave a trail of open mouthed kisses across your stomach stopping just shy of the top of your jeans. “I need you” you whimpered not caring how desperate you sounded in that moment. Dean kissed your hip then moved to unsnap your jeans “Lift your hips for me baby” you did as he asked and felt the cool air hit your skin as he pulled the jeans off your legs and dropped them to the floor. A small part of you registered the fact that you were left completely bared to him but the rest of you could only concentrate on how Dean looked at you like you were the most beautiful thing he’d ever laid his eyes on. “If I do anything you don’t like, tell me ok?” he asked and you nodded. He winked at you before lowering his head down to lick into you. Your hips arched off the bed at the feeling but one of his arms snaked across your waist to hold you in place “Lay back and enjoy it sweetheart” he cooed before flicking his tongue across your clit and you felt the pressure in your stomach start to build. He slid one finger into you followed by another curling them up until they found that spot inside of you that made your eyes roll back. He kept pace with his tongue and fingers working you over that edge. When you came with a moan of his name on your lips he greedily lapped up your juices letting out a groan that vibrated through your core.
When you became too sensitive you pushed his head away so he kissed his way back up your body until he got to your lips, kissing you sloppily and allowing you to taste yourself on him. “Please let me fuck you baby” he begged and christ hearing Dean Winchester sound like that was nearly enough to push you over that edge again “Take your jeans off” you spoke and he quickly stood up long enough to push his jeans down off his hips then he climbed back onto the bed keeping his weight on his arms. You looked between you and felt your eyes widen slightly at his girth. He pressed his lips against yours in a gentle kiss “One more time, you’re sure?” you nodded “Yes Dean” He lined himself up with your entrance and you both let out a moan at the feeling of him slowly pushing into you.
Once he was completely sheathed inside of you he stilled letting you adjust to his size while he kissed down your neck. Once the sting of him stretching you gave way to the pleasurable fullness of him you moved your hips against his “Move baby” he started slowly rolling his hips into yours making your back arch off the bed at the feeling. “Dean, oh god” you moaned and that spurred his movements on. He snapped his hips forward into yours ripping a scream of pleasure from your lips. “Fuck you feel fucking amazing Y/N. God damn why didn’t we do this sooner” he groaned changing his angle just enough so that every thrust of his hips rubbed across that spot inside of you. “Right there Dean..oh fuck please don’t stop” you begged as your nails dug into his back. “Wasn’t planning on it” he grunted, keeping his pace the same as he slammed into you. You could feel that pressure building again and you must have clenched around him because he kissed your neck and said “Go ahead and come for me again baby. I won’t be far behind” his fingers came down to rub tight circles onto your clit and that was all it took to push you over the edge.
Your vision went soft around the edges as your second orgasm washed over you. You felt Dean’s hips falter as his thrusts started to become more frantic chasing the release. “Do I need to pull out?” he asked between gritted teeth. “No, I’m covered” you breathed, feeling yourself getting close to a third orgasm. He buried himself deep inside of you with one final thrust and the feeling of him coming coating inside of you pushed you over that edge again. “Holy hell Y/N” he spoke leaning his forehead over onto your chest while both of you worked to get your breathing back to normal. “Right back at you” you said then grimaced when you noticed the angry red claw marks littering his back “Shit, I marked the hell out of you Dean” He raised his head to glance over his shoulder at the marks and a grin slipped onto his face “Good, like I said I’m yours Y/N. Might as well mark your territory” you shook your head with a laugh that turned into a gasp when he pulled out of you. He reached down and found his shirt to use as a means of cleaning you both up. Once you were both as good as you could get he laid down next to you and pulled you into his arms “So, did I disappoint?” he asked and you cut your eyes up at him “Remind me to kick your ass for that question when the feeling comes back fully in my legs” he chuckled and pressed a gentle kiss to your lips “Sure thing baby”
