the dynamic of demigods thinking which other demigod is the most powerful is always amusing to me because. like, we know the big 3 kids are all the most powerful. That's just a fact of their universe. And then we know nearly every character views Percy as the strongest demigod, and most people are very rightfully intimidated by him.

and you look at the powers of the Big 3 kids and there's Percy, but then you realize Nico is just kind of objectively more powerful than him but simply chooses to hang out in Percy's shadow like he's Percy's scary dog privileges. Like, the two of them are pretty equally capable of causing multiple different apocalypses. Nico just also has like four different instakill powers and it's not like he doesn't use them. He very much uses them! Not infrequently, even! And they don't seem to take a significant amount of energy from him! And other demigods are pretty intimidated by both of them! But Nico makes a conscious point to keep his cards close to his chest and not let on exactly how dangerous and scary he can be if he wants to. People are already scared enough of him without knowing anything about him and he doesn't like that. Percy doesn't think about that nearly as much, and so usually just goes in guns blazing and that's part of why he's considered a wildcard. And then Nico himself puts Percy on a pedestal, so those who do know more about Nico's abilities then presume Nico knows something they don't about Percy that implies Percy is even stronger than him.

And even on a meta level Nico's narrative role requires him to be functionally more powerful than Percy, because he very often serves the purpose of getting Percy out of situations he can't handle on his own. That's just part of his function as a character! But also narratively he can't overshadow Percy so he just takes a backseat of his own accord and that's very amusing to me.

another Vital AU hunter-and-camila thought from this morning was a thought of, like. camila very very very gently and carefully explaining that she'd like luz to get a basic physical done by a doctor in the human realm, because luz has not been seen by a human doctor since she was four and is overdue for ten million vaccines and desperately needs bloodwork to check her vitamin and thyroid levels, etc, etc, etc, and hunter is like. visibly freaked out and upset by this. bc he is SO afraid of strangers hurting luz.

anyway. that's all pretty much expected, on account of The Horrors.

what got me in my feelings was the thought of camila telling hunter that she has a lot of the same worries, and that she Knows not all human healers have good intentions, and that she Promises she'll take that into account when finding one for luz. because she does not want luz to get hurt.

hunter, naturally, is like "how.... do you know that....?" and camila is like ay dios mio. HOW do i explain medical racism or the united states..... to a boy.... with no concept of racism or the united states.....

If you were to look at Batman’s DNA, one would find that it’s 99.9% human. It’s not something he ever mentions or speaks of, and is one of the few things to slip his mind when talking with his allies. 

But that’s not unusual in Gotham. The city is possessive of hers after all, and while some can try to leave, a part of her will always stay within them.

Okay I was just thinking of how funny the concept of a modern-day Dracula is.

Like this guy would wake up from a two thousand long slumber and be like, "Renfield, fetch me some human blood this instant to quench my thirst" And he'd be all happy and excited cause he just took a dope ass nap and now he's starting his day with some tasty human blood, cause all vampires know about how tasty human blood is, it's the best kind and that couldn't have possibly changed in the last two thousand years! Right? Oh don't be silly, of course not.

So then Renfield would fetch him his nice fresh glass of human blood and Dracula would snatch it right up and start eagerly drinking. But then he pauses, slowly lowers the glass and turns to Renfield, asking "Um, Renfield ol' friend, what is in this?" and then Renfield's like, "Oh that would be microplastic sir" And Dracula, a being so old he watched the rise and fall of most ancient civilisations and had enough time to read the entire library of Alexandria before it was destroyed in the time we humans wast in the blink of an eye, has to sit there in his coffin and try to not look stupid as he asks, "um, micro-what?"
