SEPTEMBER @rainbowcrate SPOILERS
This month's indie book pick has me incredibly jazzed! It sounds right up my alley! I'm a little leery about the trad pub, but I'll get to it eventually.
Items included in this box are:
• trad pick: The Spirit Bares It's Teeth by Andrew Joseph White with alternate jacket art by @chiquicreates
• indie pick: Basics of Spellcraft by L.C. Mawson with alternate jacket art by @green446004 with glow-in-the-dark and pearlescent effects with teal foil, foiled hardcover, and patterned endpapers, printed edges by @/mrosedesigner (insta), prequel story, bound in author letter, and signed art bookplate
• monthly collectible magnet inspired by It Takes Two to Tumble by Cat Sebastian ft. Ben and Phillip
• Tissue box cover inspired by History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera
• and, as always, spoiler card art by @ace-artemis-fanartist (not included in the photo because the wrong art was on the spoiler card)

Queer Books for Pride Month:
"It Takes Two to Tumble" by Cat Sebastian
Tumblr media
If you like found family this is definetly something for you.
Cat Sebastian doesn't only deliver a great romance, but also focuses on family dynamics and makes you love every single character. There really is no one you can actually hate or even strongly dislike.
Every character has their motives and sometimes even the smallest action can lead to much bigger things.
As for the main characters. Ben Sedgwick is trully a ball of sunshine, that goes through life with a smile and refreshing joy. (There's no toxic positivity though, which I think is important)
On the other hand Philip Dacre is a captain, who's just learning, that there's more to life than his beloved ship.
And when those two suddenly clash we really get something unexpected and unbelievably sweet.

Case in point: how everything Ben lists as an example of his peaceful life are things that Ben will give up by the end of the novel.
And, I mean, he mentions the chair right after that. How it doesn't quite fit him (like the expected life path in society), but it's what he's used to so he doesn't want to change chairs even though it would be better if he did.
It's just the thesis of the book right there in the metaphor of a chair.

Quick question how do you survive? it is there any food or drink you found it on the place
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It all goes back to the junkyard again for the food. It's about a 50/50 on what can be found there that's edible though. It's pretty lucky to find canned goods, but it's more likely to find expired food. Although some folks have scavenged a bunch of seeds and started growing farmland. Most of them will trade goods for any fabrics like socks so I don't think I'll be going hungry anytime soon as long as I can get a hold of something to trade. And well, I do have a bit of a reputation of being a Hatter, if you catch on to what I'm putting down.
Tumblr media
Finding water is a lot easier. There's fountains all over the place that's safe to drink from. I reckon it comes from that riv-ur I saw earlier.

hope everyone had alright holidays!
a few days ago when we were driving home in the dark in windy and rainy weather after getting two of my siblings from the train we, for the first time in my lifetime im pretty sure, hit a deer that was crossing the street, none of us saw them before they got caught in the headlights and the first one made it over but we werent yet slow enough to not hit the second one ...
the deer lived but was kinda stunned, my dad pushed it off the street and while we were still on the phone with police it got up and ran away but my parents car got damaged and while its still drivable there are several parts that got bent and since its an older model too it might be hard to get it repaired
anyway, i didnt know deer fur was that grey until i saw it stuck to our bumper :(
merry crisis

I don't know how electric guitars work
An OOC Chai that I'm not entirely happy with but I'll post it anyway along with a little piece for my AU just to answer a question I hadn't answered while daydreaming about it. I love the sky at the beginning of Track 10 so I wanted to incorporate it into the scene as well

*peeks out of the void with a random and hopefully coherent thought*
Back in the day, maybe around the beginning of Wilf's reign, Terrence Suave being a teacher to the newest Toppat recruit, Reginald Copperbottom.
Terrence just sees something in Reginald and takes him under his wing, teaching him many things and helping the man grow to his fullest potential.
But eventually, Terrence is thrown into the role of leadership, something he isn't ready for or even maybe hoping it is just a temporary thing until the Toppats find Wilford.
As Toppats get arrested and injured in randomly launched raids, the drums of rebellion start to beat, with Reginald as the forefront, ready for one final lesson for Terrence.
When the apprentice surpasses the teacher.
Reginald and his group burst into the cockpit of the Airship, guns aimed as Reginald declares that for the sake of the Toppat Clan that he is dethroning Terrence, no matter how bad it will get.
Terrence however just smiles and gets up from his chair, taking off his hat and placing it on Reginald's own before simply speaking on how proud he is of Reginald, how the Toppats would be in much better hands now and how while he wished for more time to try to fix everything, he knew his was up and it was time to bow out.
Terrence gave one last wave before leaving, accepting his dethroning and leaving the Toppat Clan for the better of everyone.
Reginald wears his two hats with pride as he leads the Toppats, just hoping that wherever Terrence is in the world that he is doing better then when he was leader, still keeping all of his lessons to heart.

What was the last historical fiction and/or romance you read?
I last read A Lady's Guide to Mischief and Mayhem by Manda Collins—I absolutely adored Kate and Andrew!
How cute is this magnet featuring Ben and Phillip from It Takes Two to Tumble by Cat Sebastian?! I don't know the context, but the ducks are precious!

After I bought a bunch of Cat Sebastian audiobooks from audible, chirp had a sale on It Takes Two to Tumble. So now all I need for my yearly Cat Sebastian listen is A Gentleman Never Keeps Score, which is, weirdly, the only one that ever has a wait list at the library.

I vacillate wildly on whether or not I liked red, white and royal blue. When I first read it. I was like this is fine. It's not groundbreaking but it's fine. And then a little bit later was like well. I don't remember the main couple being that compelling or interesting. Now I'm not sure, but I think I'm excited for the movie question mark?
