you know what i think kids/teen books do 'fantasy romance/fantasy books' way better than any of the adult fantasy books booktok raves about. i try and read some of them and 90 percent of the time its just smut and abusive relationships disguised as 'dark romance'. then i read books like Keeper Of The Lost Cities, The School for Good and Evil, Percy Jackson, Land of Stories, the Nevermoor series, that kind of thing, and they are all actually so amazing because they have fleshed out characters with flaws and an engaging plotline instead of just badly written romance. and when they do have romance it's well written and about the people rather than the tropes.

for the next episodes and possibly season 7 i hope to see tim bradford finally working things out in therapy. finally understanding himself and his feelings. so then he can start to prove himself trustworthy again to lucy, backed by his own confidence in his worthiness.

the only way he can prove himself to lucy is by being sure of it himself. and i pray the writers etc will actually take it seriously. mental health and self worth are so important. even in a drama. begging they treat these people and relationships with care.

and as long as they do, i'm sure tim and lucy, both as individuals and together, will make it.

What I badly want for the next arc is this setup:

This arc ending with:

Frostpaw becomes Froststar, leader of Riverclan

Leaving the clan without a medicine cat that can communicate with Starclan, adding more stress to Froststar.

Sunbeam and Nightheart expecting kits.

So then the POV characters for the next arc are:

Whistlepaw from Windclan

Graypaw from Riverclan (Frostpaw’s brother)

Unnamed Nightbeam kit from Thunderclan

The story would begin as such:

Graypaw and Whistlepaw grow closer together for Not So Forbidden Romance. Whistlepaw, still forbidden because medicine cat. The two want to be together but can’t because med cat relationships still illegal.

Meanwhile unnamed kit has visions of becoming the new Riverclan medicine cat apprentice

Graypaw and Whistlepaw are found out by Froststar, who starts pressuring the clans into changing the medicine cat no romance rule. But no one really wants to listen to her.

Then Harestar dies and Crowfeather becomes Crowstar and that guy immediately allows Whistlepaw and Graypaw to be together and refuses to listen to the other clans, stating that if such a time like this existed for him and Leafpool then there would have been less heartbreak and deaths (Leafpool/Hollyleaf)

SO THEN the story would have an amazing parallel to Moth Flight as a Windclan med cat making the rule and then Whistlepaw being a Windclan med cat breaking it!

As much as the "a boss and a babe" ending was satisfying in some ways, one thing I truly HATED about it was how they handled the Tian storyline.

Like dude, there was this huge ass reveal about how this poor girl suffered SA from her stepfather for years, to the point that she got impregnated and then unalived herself, only for it to just...not really get addressed anymore??? That whole storyline just kinda disappeared after ep 10 or 11 after gun says "we'll make sure he ends up in jail". And then, nothing.

Instead, we get a time jump to a year later, and all that was said about it was Thoop forgiving his mum for letting her kids get abused for years. Like, what was that??? Cus if that were me I would not let that slide. How did all that trauma just get swept under the rug just like that??? It would have been just a LITTLE bit better if it was revealed that the mum was also being abused or something, and was scared to leave. But seriously, absolutely nothing at all. We were just supposed to read between the lines and understand the implications of "oh he was arrested, and that solved basically everything".

I just think that this storyline was handled with such little tact, especially for an issue so heavy. For a series that I thought was really gonna shed light on real world issues at first, this was seriously disappointing.

Secret of the Crystal Fairies is a disappointment, you cannot convince me otherwise. It's so disappointing, Steven He is a prodigy by comparison (Steven He is a legend, I just don't think his dad would think the same). So underwhelming that it makes Mulan 2020 look decent (no it doesn't Mulan 2020 is still bad). So generic it makes every brown/black-haired anime protagonist look revolutionary. So blatant and obvious with its storytelling it makes Raya and the Last Dragon look nuanced and subtle.

Goldfire's arc isn't an arc, it's a water balloon that was so pathetic the water just leaked out before anyone even did anything. Diamond isn't the tragic character clown, he's the entire tragic character circus. Bella Swan could look at Esmeralda and say "geez you're flat as cardboard" with a straight face. Arbor isn't a deus ex machina, he's the ultimate simp ex machina. The girls should by all accounts be dead by now, but plot took a look at that and said "no because I said so". Fang is so underrated, the wolf boi doesn't deserve to feature in a plot as underwhelming as this. Violet got her life put in danger for the 123,351,848,748,257,823,379th time and she didn't even receive the dignity of a badass moment to balance it out. Nicky's general OPness shows so much the only reason no one talks about it is because of Esmeralda existing. Pam is just there. Paulina is just there. Colette ends up in a weird situation that doesn't contribute to much besides plot, but other than that, she's just there. Overall, an underwhelming pile of rocks from start to finish.

Hate when you're reading a new fic and on the latest chapter there's a plot choice you're not fond of, and you love the rest of the fic so if there were more chapters past that unfortunate plot choice you could keep going and get over the bitterness, but there isn't, so now you have to fight back the negative association until the next chapter comes out and pray that it doesn't win and make you hate the fic for no god damn reason
