One of my biggest issues with The Bad Batch s3 was how despite the season’s supposed main theme being about redemption arcs and 2nd chances, the show refuses to acknowledge the Commandos or even the clone assassins as victims of the Empire, and instead they’re treated arguably even worse than stormtroopers.
The season would rather have characters like Rampart look sympathetic before the commandos or CXs could get any kind of pity from our main cast.
The only character who showed even an ounce of sympathy for the CXs was Rex.
"You’re still one of us. You’re still our brother."
I thought this was foreshadowing at least one CX getting saved and rehabilitated. So then Rex’s efforts in "Infiltration" wouldn’t have gone to waste. But nope, the CXs’ only purpose was to be the cartoonishly evil versions of the Bad Batch (seriously though, the idea of Hemlock creating the Evil Batch just makes me take him less seriously as a villain).
Only one commando was given some sort of redemption arc, but that was only because Wolffe commanded him not to do anything to Rex or his clone network. And then we never see him or Wolffe again.
#the bad batch#tbb critical#tbb salt#idk it’s just#*sigh*#i wanted to like s3#but the double standards the season has makes it almost unwatchable#or the amount of favouritism bias#like Crosshair’s writing vs Echo or Wrecker’s#it reminds me too much of how i felt watching Voltron after s2#so many confusing decisions and it ultimately loses the message it was trying to go for

If you dont mind me asking. What is your problem with Lance Stans?
Alright. I knew I would get this sooner or later. Note I’m not about to pull punches. Also this is a long one because I don’t want to have to answer this again so strap in for a ride. Here’s MY experience with Lance stans. This won’t even get into my experience with Klantis. Because that’s just a whole different ball game.
So, In the beginning everything was fine. And I can say that with confidence because I was in the Tumblr Voltron tag the day the show first season dropped on Netflix. I was that excited. Voltron was my childhood and I loved the direction they were taking it and I wanted to talk about it. I instantly loved all the characters but Keith, having been my favorite character in the 80’s series quickly became my favorite once again so I was excited for content on him especially. I can tell you truthfully, that even back in the early days most of the Keith content was shipping him with Lance. At the time I was alright with that. I liked Klance.and everyone shipping it was really chill (if you can believe it) but I noticed that he was usually portrayed as a pining love interest who hyped Lance up and that bummed me out cause Keith was so much more than that, but I was confident that when Keith got more development that would change. But then things took a turn as Lance stans emerged as the most vocal fans in the fandom and Klance as the most popular ship. Because he got so little focus in the first season, people had to supplant their own views of Keith’s character to write fics and draw fanart. So Lance stans already had a certain view of Keith’s character and that was, a way to prop up Lance or highlight Lance’s insecurities so he could apologize to Lance and they could have Langst (Ugh) and Klangst.
Things took a turn in S2 when Keith got his character arc and more spotlight. I was ecstatic.More people started to appreciate KEith, I got more Keith centric fanart and headcanons and Fanfictions. But then I noticed A Lot of Lance stans started to grumble and complain aoubt Keith getting a character arc, because apparently it took away Lance’s screen time and ruined the view they had developed for Keith as a empty love interest. His bond with Shiro and the alone time he got with Allura threatened Klance. Him finding out his heritage, and piloting Black and going on solo missions with other Paladins threatened the view Lance stans had of Keith and because S2 established him as his own character, and back then, for Lance stans, everything Keith needed to revolve around Lance and Lance stans got bitter and the attacks began. Now it’s important to note that there were Hunk fans who were upset Hunk didn’t get an arc, but I never saw any of them go after Keith or his fans. Also other fans were also getting mad at other characters. There were those who went after Allura and Hunk during S2. But once again those fans didnt go after the fans of the characters and they didn’t hate on the characters just to hate, rather criticized their actions, from what I saw. But Lance stans were by far the most vocal, violent and the most antagonistic. It got to the point where Keith fans were forced to participate in the then budding discourse because Lance Stans hijacked the Keith tag and filled it with their crap with bashing Keith and his fans when they defended him and his arc. We were constantly defending him and constantly suffering personal attacks for defending him. I saw Lance stans throw around the words homophobic and racist ( Which was personally offensive to me as I’m black) at Keith fans because we were happy that Keith was getting development after an entire Season out of focus.Because being happy that Keith was getting an arc was a apparently a gross offense that warranted attacks on our personal persons.
Some of the things they said was absolutely insane. Keith was horrible because he argued back when Lance started fights with him. Keith was to blame for Lance’s insecurities because he was better than him at flying. Somehow Iverson chewing out Lance was Keith’s fault. To Lance stans Keith was only one of three thrings, an empty love interest who hypes and props Lance up, A terrible person to blame for Lance’s insecurities or a combination of the two. By extension Keith fans who so much as pointed out things like Lance being mean to Keith or expressed love for Keith were Terrible people who supported the sidelining of their precious golden boy. It didnt help that I didnt know how to exclude tags on Ao3 at the time so I couldnt escape it even if I left tumblr.
As someone who viewed 80’s Keith as her Hero as a child, and who absolutely adored his new portrayal and related to him on every single level, seeing him get attacked so much was disheartening. Every trip to his tag had me leaving so sad and upset.
It got even worse when s3 dropped and Black Paladin Keith was confirmed. After months of Lance stans ragging on us and screaming for Black Paladin Lance and making headcanons about how Keith would never be chosen for the Black Paladin and that the Black Lion would absolutely reject him for Lance , to have all that debunked with Black actually rejecting everyone else and accepting Keith was too much and it sent Lance stans into a nuclear meltdown. The attacks came more and more, everyday in the tag turned into a war. Many Keith fans had to make separate accounts to combat the hate just to keep it all from our main account. It was TERRIBLE. There were so many Lance stans in the Keith tag claiming that Keith was a terrible character, that he didn’t deserve screetime and that Lance should be the main character, the black paladin, that he should get all the arcs and after months of fighting for the right to have Keith as my favorite character I. WAS.TIRED. I was tired of fighting just to have a good experience in the tag. I was tired of the attacks. I was tired of watching other Keith fans get attacked and get fed up and complain about how much they had to block and filter just to have a positive experience. I was tired of words like homophobic and racist being thrown out by Lance stans like candy. I was just tired. And so I stepped out of the fandom. I tried to still watch the show but it just reminded me of the horrible time I had and I stopped watching it as well.
I occasionally stepped my toe back in a couple of times like when Keith’s blog dropped, when his birthday was revealed, when Krolia was introduced and when the fandom did something particularly toxic and I just had to know, but my time watching the show and interacting with the fandom was done.
Until the last season dropped and there was a huge movement of people leaving the fandom and I wanted to see what was so bad and I ended up binging the entire show and rediscovered my love for it (Excluding S8 because yeah) and Keith. And thus I wondered back into the fandom.
So in conclusion, Lance stans ultimately drove me away from Voltron ( A franchise I’ve loved since I was a literal child) and I’m not ashamed to say I deeply resent them for it. I’m mature enough to admit that not all Lance stans are like that, that some hate the toxic stans just as much as I do , that some absolutely love and respect Keith but there’s too much negative feelings that I hold for that side of the fandom so i felt it best to just entirely exclude them from my Voltron experience. There’s too much of a chance that I’ll run into toxic ones again and I don’t want my time in this fandom to be ruined again. This fandom under all the toxicity can be really fun and nice and I refuse to give up on something I love ever again. And it sucks because I do love Lance and I have to pretty much stay away from his tag.
It doesn’t help that Lance stans still have the reputation of being the toxic side of the fandom for not only switching to bashing every other character in the show ( even side characters) for being ‘mean’ to Lance, but also for going after the cast and crew of the show ( Lance Stans attacked Neil Kaplan in droves because he said something about Lance), and that terribly cringy thing with the Lance stan at SDCC literally yelling at the voice actors because they felt no one appreciated him. It also doesn’t help that even now it’s a running joke even to people OUTSIDE the fandom to ‘watch what you say about that Blue guy from Voltron or his cult of fans will attack you.” I don’t want to be anywhere near that shit.
The silver lining is that the love and appreciation for Keith is at an all time high and the posts I do unfortunately come across that bash him all come from posts Lance stans made in 2017, or as I like to call ‘ the dark ages of Keith fandom’. And that Keith hate is actually out of the norm and other fans, not only Keith fans are quick to shut it down and that Fans of the other characters are just as quick to go after the fanatical Lance standom making everything about Lance. Turns out taking a break and coming back actually resulted in a much better environment so y’know small mercies and all that.

What was Voltron s8???
Alright here we are, finished with Voltron forever, thank god. I should never picked up on this series. Please, please for the love of God, if you have not watched this show, DO NOT WATCH IT. It is such an dissatisfying ending and underwhelming build up with SO much lost potential. Here’s my review and spoilers under the cut.
1. ALLURA DIED. What was the point?! To show how high the stakes were in this war?! Allura literally has gone through way too much for the show to kill her off. She lost her family, her planet, her people, her father’s AI, her leadership, her crown, her agency, got her heartbroken, and now gets ripped apart from her new found family? What kind of writing is this??? It’s not fulfillment??? Sure I get there was foreshadowing in s5 especially with the White Lion reference, but you continuously tortured Allura and beating her up over the course of eight seasons, how does this entitle her losing her LIFE? This was not satisfying whatsoever and she didn’t even get to say goodbye to Coran?????? Funny how this same reasoning was applied to Adam, a character we knew nothing about, but oh! he’s related to Shiro and he’s gay??
2. Honerva. The resolution of her arc especially had me HEATED. How does one look into her past coMPLETELY change her ways??? I thought there would be some complex hand-to-hand combat scene or Allura duking it out with her, but no. One simple conversation and the power of friendship!!! I was already kind of annoyed that her big reason for all this was to reunite with her husband and son which literally sounds like a Disney villain and not a complex written one. When you write her as a big bad, her intention from the beginning should have at least evolved into her wanting a happy ending with her husband, but this literally only became clear in the last season. That’s poor writing and characterization.
3. Lotor???? What was the point of episode 2 showing all these signs that Lotor was a victim of abuse and validating his justified anger (not actions) toward everything IF YOU WEREN’T GOING TO REDEEM HIM. Even worse is you show his melting corpse. What even. I have been upset since s6 at the VLD team for writing Lotor’s arc like that and now I’m fuming. Humanizing Lotor and doing nothing to further a redemption arc????
4. Some of these fight scenes were so underwhelming and when Voltron gets beat down, here comes Keith and his power of friendship speech!!! What kills is that Shiro barely even serves any purpose and doesn’t give these speeches? When Voltron and the Atlas merged (which also was a weird and offputting decision b/c wow nothing like more robots when we HAVE SO MANY), Keith gives the whole we are stronger blahblah but the fact was Shiro was standing like right there in the same panel and he doesn’t say anything??? Like this is SHIRO’S SHIT.
5. The characterization was so off putting and almost everyone was a shell of what they once were. Hugest offender was Lance obviously, how was he reduced to just being worried about Allura all the time and not being able to be proactive??? What sorta bugs me is that it was only Keith comforting Lance the whole time, and not even Allura could provide him ANY bit of comfort. Lance resorted almost 90% of his dialogue about Allura and his insecurities about being with her were never addressed directly to her face. For a VLD romance, you sure loved to make Klance moments look so beautiful while making your main romance look really sad and tired everytime they’re together.
Not to take away value from the Klance sunset scene (because that scene was so beautiful), but if you had Allura say similar words to Lance, you could have written SUCH a better and more believable romance between them. This all felt so one-sided to me. I was all for some cute Allurance. Instead, you leave Lance at this epilogue where he isn’t who he was and it’s because of Allura. You give Lance the girl he loves and SHE DIES? What kind of slowburn romance were you aiming for VLD? They were done sO DIRTY. I fondly shipped Allurance from s3-s5, but they were like destroyed this season. Nothing about this season indicated this was a slowburn romance from the beginning. THIS WASN’T EVEN ENDGAME. And when Allura is saying goodbye to each Paladin, she says something thoughtful about who they are, but just Lance is like i love you and gives him marks to remind him FOREVER of his loss. say what now?
6. Too many characters??? VLD decided to make s8 the season where everyone has to be mentioned once or twice, but it really showed that they didn’t know how to handle their characters and couldn’t focus on developing the bonds of the Paladins even more. What felt super ironic to me was that the team reallyyyy only looked a family to me when Allura made her decision to sacrifice herself and after she died. Like we haven’t seen all of them interact like this in so long, maybe like s2?
7. Don’t even get me started with that half ass wedding. Shiro deserved so much better and he was not the type of person to “leave the battle behind.” That wedding was a cheap attempt at damage control and it GREATLY backfired.
Well these are my main criticisms; there were so many more, but these were the main ones. I only will think of Voltron fondly from s1-s6 and s7 and 8 can rot in hell. Those were AWFUL seasons and honestly destroyed my perception of this show, but I will do my best to fondly see the series for what it should have been.

repetition creates weight
The EPs seem pretty adamant they had no idea of the Keith-Lotor parallels until after the seasons aired and someone else pointed it out. That’s huge sign of their inexperience as storytellers -- that, and the places where they do use repetition intentionally.
Repetition is a writer’s neon sign. What gets screen (or page) time is relevant; ergo, something that gets repeated screen or page time must be not only relevant but important. The more a story reminds the audience of some detail, the more the audience is going to think, “aha! that’s the eighth time the story’s mentioned the character’s blue eyes. It must be a clue. It must mean something.”
There are different ways to repeat. You can use the same phrase, stage a visual with the same composition, or highlight an object or theme or motif via constant reference (ie S1/S2 hand-on-something motif). You can create parallels so strong they become almost mirrors. There’s also using repetition in planting clues, adding the Important Message in the middle of seemingly irrelevant details, each list different but for that one element.
And then, of course, there’s the kind of repetition noted in this ask:
So I heard a theory that suggested season 8 may mirror seasons 3-6 since season 7 mirrored seasons 1-2. What are your thoughts on that?
Behind the cut.
At the end of S2, each character answers the question of ‘what do we do after this,’ which becomes four repetitions of the same theme. Obviously they’re not going home yet ‘cause we’ve got four more seasons to go.
On some intuitive level, a lot of viewers perked up: aha, there must a reason for Keith to respond in that particular way. After all, Keith could’ve said, “I could train with the Blades,” see more of the universe, etc. (And remember, what comes last is what gets the emphasis; if Pidge had answered last, we probably would’ve assumed she’d find Matt or Sam in early S3.)
When S3 begins and we meet Lotor, Keith is immediately on that. His focus on Lotor, to the exclusion of all else was probably meant to be single-mindedness. Overdone, it became another neon sign. There must be something here, some other reason Keith is so obsessed.
There’s a repetition, too, in the wording: “I could look for my family” to “I have to find/catch this guy.” Unintentionally or not, that look-for/find/catch established another link. Even once Shiro/Kuron arrives, Keith doesn’t lose that focus, and it becomes the source of a few arguments between Keith and Shiro.
We’re now at the level of about sixteen neons signs, each one the size of a billboard. That much pushes everything to the level of implying something intensely personal. It practically screams, pay attention.
Add in a few repetitions of the quintessence motif -- Lotor’s search for it, Keith’s sensitivity to it (and apparent shapeshifting abilities related to it) -- and the parallels were all right there. Had we started S5 with Keith discovering he’s Lotor’s long-lost brother, we might’ve considered that twist obvious in hindsight. (The only detail required for a snap reveal would be explaining the presence of the knife and/or a Blade being on Earth.)
What the EPs seem to like to do (and this makes sense, as storyboarders) is visually echoing previous compositions. Most often, echoing a previous composition is done not as strict repetition but as a motif. It’s only repetition in the loosest sense, because each use must modify or expand the tone of the original resonance.
Frex, the Black Paladins music. Say the first time had been a minor key with eerie strings, evoking the tragedy of the fight. The second use -- where now, instead of wanting Shiro to lose, we want him to win -- it’s same melody but with trumpets instead, faster-paced, a major key. Still recognizable, but its entire mood has changed. that’s a motif’s layering: the melody has become tied to high-stakes, high-emotion one-on-one fights. But it contains elements of tragic and heroic, layering them so that one reflects the other.
Without that variation, it’s not a motif, it’s a signature. And signatures, like a pose or a phrase or a fighting move, gain their strength from repetition.
At the end of S2, Allura stands against Haggar’s blast.
At the end of S7, Atlas stands in exactly the same way.
It’s not just the exact same defensive position. It’s also a similar situation; defending Voltron from a powerful opponent mostly on instinct, untrained and mostly untried. That visual repetition is why some people see Atlas as meant for Allura, not Shiro. The only variation is in scale.
I’ve lost track of all the places in S7 where the storyboarders re-used imagery or composition from an earlier scene. It can be a powerful maneuver, but like a motif, it must change, in one degree. And more importantly: the new scene must have an emotional resonance in its own right.
What you cannot do is duplicate a previous scene with the purpose of tapping its weight, as if this will get around the lack of emotional resonance in a later use. All that does is frustrate viewers (or readers). It’s too obviously an attempt to shortcut providing genuine meaning, by manipulating a pre-existing connotation. It’s a cheap repetition.
That brings me around to the repetition in the overall story, where the EPs are hitting the notes in S1/S2 throughout S7. Which... I guess for some people, that’s a cool trick they don’t see very often. Thing is, there’s a reason you don’t see it very often: because it generally doesn’t work unless you have a really deft touch, enough that most people will miss it.
The more the season hit the same notes as S1/S2, the more bored I got. It’s a failure of imagination; we’ve gone beyond repetition a literary or filmic device and into something like mimicry. When the pinnacle of your story amounts to a redux of your own story, it’s verging on self-parody. I’ve seen S1/S2, after all. I came to watch S7 for a new stage in the story, not a bunch of visuals practically traced right over those earlier two seasons.
It may be cynical, but by that point, I couldn’t help feeling disgusted, too. Could the EPs/writers not think up anything new? Was the only thing they could think to do, was to cut and paste the emotional beats from the first season? Especially when they couldn’t even manage that much -- from Shiro’s showdown in S1 to the letdown in S7. Or Allura’s startling but asskicking fight against Haggar, including the surprise power-up... to the Atlas over-powering and doing not much of anything against Haggar’s proxy.
In the end, I was stuck with two possible reasons for the repetition. One, the EPs/writers couldn’t figure out how to structure a successful seasonal arc, so they looked back and just copied a previous season, beat for beat. Or, worse, they took exec permission and re-litigated S1/S2, which frankly is much worse. Yes, their interviews make clear they chafed at exec oversight. But is that any reason to destroy your own story by driving the same ruts for the nth time?
All I can say is: at the very least, S1/S2 had a solid structure, so while copying it felt lazy and amateurish, it didn’t make things worse. If S8 is another redux of S3-S6? Not good, because those 26 episodes, in terms of story structure, are a meandering hot mess.

ToCo | Dragon Prince
First two episodes and I was pretty much ready to drop it. The visuals were absolutely nice, but the low framerate did more harm than good to it.
I like 2D, and I like CGI. But CGI trying so hard to be 2D hurts sometimes. In this case, the mending of 2D and CGI is pretty well done, so I don’t mind. But watching a show that feels like I’m playing a game at like 5 fps is kinda ugh. If you’re CGI at least take advantage of how smooth it can be.
LUCKILY it improved a lot after episode 2. Towards the end I never really noticed these really laggy expressions and movements anymore (in slow movements it was especially jarring, like when the King and Callum hugged, it really took my out of the moment). Everything was pretty smooth and I enjoyed the visual style. So props for that!
So yeah, some thoughts under the cut (sorry mobile users this is a pretty long one):
What happened with the King? Is he really dead? I mean, I assume? But I don’t trust that wizard-guy at all and I think he did something before he left, but I’m not sureeeee. HMMMMM
Okay, how they humanize dark magic is awesome. Sure, the villain uses it, but when Claudia uses it, it’s almost always charming. It looks dark and she looks dark, but it’s not that way at all. It hits home less of a black and white idea of good and bad, and more of the inbetween and i like that. That’s something my friends and I where going for when we did our game and we failed, but it’s nice to see a really good way it’s done. So kudos! <3
It feels like all of the characters are there to be funny, which sometimes hurts their characterisation. I’m still not sure what Rayla is supposed to be. She’s serious, but then she starts being really sarcastic, and then she starts being really cheerful while she’s sarcastic and then she starts goofing around as well in a time that feels too short to me. But people can have layers, I just felt she was everything and nothing at the same time sometimes.
her voice tho, smexyyyyy
CALLUM “I can only draw” STEP-SON OF KING, if you don’t WANT that skill, I can gladly take it >:((((
Also why do you look like Keith from Voltron and Frey from To Belong at the same time, you remind me of both XD
Ezran is even more there to be goofy I feel like. He can talk to animals apparantly, he likes these jelly-things and honestly that’s it to me. He’s not blank but I feel like there’s nothing really there. Callum at least had his arc of “I can’t do anything, except draw a skill which I probably trained but who cares :))))”, tho I guess he doesn’t fit in, but we’ve never really SEEN that, I think, so it’s not as impactful imo.
Hey, it’s moon-allura. kinda. not rly. but she reminded me of Allura lol.
I’m a little sad that Rayla got rid of the armband. All those moments of “It doesn’t matter if I lose a hand, meeting you was worth it” mean less if you know it’s not gonna happen. At the start, I actually thought the armband would start mindcontrolling her to like try to kill him when she was around him, but this way it’s a lot more organic and less tropy in the long run, so I like it. I’m too sadistic I’m sorry X’D She deserved to get rid of it, so out least it wasn’t out of pure luck. But if something with consequences would have happened, it would have elavated the show in my eyes. I’m glad she still has her hand though, losing it that way must be painful.
Claudia is surprisingly likeable, even though I have a similiar problem with her as with Rayla. But she’s more consistent, because she’s less serious I think. She’s an airhead, goofy and I think mostly kind-hearted. I like that she looks a lot like a villain, but she seems to have her heart in the right place overall. She kinda seems naive too and sometimes kind of dumb, but in a really adorable way??? The same can be said for Callum, I feel like he’s the more dumb-kind of goofball, but it’s endearing.
THAT DRAGON is the CUTEST thing EVER.
so where’s s2. I need it. Honestly, these dump-releases make really impatient. Just air one episode a week, and you already have 2-3 months more time where people are kept busy so they actively have less jarring wait-time. I’m a huge binge-watch fan but more of finished or concluded stuff. When it’s ongoing, I actually prefer the kind of weekly format. Yes, cliffhangers are evil, but while watching some ongoing anime I noticed, it’s actually kind of healthy. It helps discussions and keeps communities active; also it always makes me happy if I have something to look forward to each week (noo hero aca, steins gate 0 pls don’t ennddddd :’’’(). Plus, you don’t have to like, make room to watch 3 hours of something, it’s just 20-30 minutes each week, which I can make room more easily. Because the problem is: If there IS more, I WILL watch it. It’s the law of physics X’D ANd boom, 3 hours gone, oh god it’s 11 pm. I’m dead. I just wanted to watch one episode lol. But the episodes were over so fassst ;v;

IAL #36 My VLD S6 review + My Predictions for S7
Hey hello guys welcome to another Sunday and so it’s been a week since s6 of voltron dropped and literally the fandom is dead. If you are from my writing blog my author name is Tidus S. Queen but on my personal account I am Kat. I am going to be telling my opinions about this season and how good and amazing it was
Disclaimer: these are just are my options please respect them if you don't care just dont read the post and have a nice day. I am also giving 0 hate to ships this is just my views/take on the latest season.
Because I am way to obsessed for this show I rewatched S3 to S5 before the season dropped so I knew everything for this season.
My thoughts on Lotor:
S5 cliffhanger was Lotor and Allura going to the Altean world called Oriande to learn more about altean alchemy. Then we learned about lort how he is literally a space indiana jones and zarkon was a prick as a father to him and you feel bad for him. I’m gonna state right now I NEVER TRUSTED NO MATTER HOW HOT HE IS. The first time we meet the prince lotor is in S3 when he literally was teasing the paladins and to see if they can become voltron, but they can't because we lost shiro in the astral plane and he died in the s2 finale. So yeah thanks dreamworks for hurting me in the feels.
One more thing I wanted to point out Dos Santos one of the co-executive producer said that lotor was gonna be like a “justice league villain” in an article and as someone who loves superhero and villains I knew lotor was going in to help voltron with a bigger ulterior motive and once he got it the quintessence he literally played himself because he actually had real feelings for allura but we then learn this season that he killed f the alteans hw saved to get more enriched quintessence. Do i Feel he is not dead? Nope we saw no body therefore there is a total possibility we are going to see lotor in future seasons . Do we think he get a redemption arc like zuko? Maybe there are a lot of possibilities
My thoughts on Allura and Lance :
Another character I want to talk about is Allura guys I felt for A llura for this season so much because she literally got played by lotor all allura wants to do is see her people and altea again. We know that Allura loves her people and her dad and she lost her planet to the galra since the very beginning of this show. The question I have been seeing non-stop is that do you think Allura is using Lance as a rebound ? NO NO NO Allura will never do that to Lance ,and Lance respects her too much to be a douche to her he cares about her he is protective friend ( i don’t blame him} . lance did get friendzone this season yes but he is not gonna be a douche to Allura because he got friendzone. Lance has manners and respect Allura. I love their platonic friendship in my views. If you ship them romantically I respect you
A lot of people are hating on dreamworks for pushing Lance over this season. Hello hi people who are thinking that that is how the vld staff and created story tell the characters arcs in this show. Do I want lance to be happy? hell yess. But Lance can’t just get random happiness as a writer and creator of any story you have to make characters suffer in order to make them grow in a story. I know personally think they are setting up Lance's arc for that reason .In my eyes lance and allura friendship are going to get stronger as the seasons progress.
My thoughts on Keith: FINALLY FINALLY WE GET THE ORIGIN STORY OF KEITH’S PARENTS AND HIM AHH IM SO HAPPY THANK THANK YOU DREAMWORKS. Also keith has matured so much found his mom and probably bonded with we the two years that him and his mom were on space dolphins. I think that Keith need the 2 year gap with his mom. He probably learned stuff for her and he now understands his origin. Keith becoming the black paladin he is now the leader that shiro wanted him to be reference in s2 when they were going to the BOM headquarters. Keith also got a pokemon wolf when everyone else was playing dnd space version. Keith go shiro back and his mom and he has definitely grown since season 1. His fighting scene with shiro was so heartbreaking to watch but he knew how to handle the clone and respect kuro. Shiro is Keith father figure form what we saw in the flashbacks with keith dad wearing Shiro’s outfit from season 1 -2 and their bond is so deep I love them so much. I do believe that Shiro did save Keith and I love their brotherly love I really do. You ship them relatively good for you I am not hating on the ship this is just my opinion on their bond.
My thoughts on Romelle: I love this pretty altean conspiracy theorist who literally busted lotor. I love romelle I hope we see her in future seasons.

A Fated Family - Voltron fic

————————————————————————————–
The observation deck was one of Allura's least favorite place to be, if she was honest with herself.
The star maps were beautiful and reinforced how vast and complex the universe really was.
But it was also a reminder of the many beacons, red for emergency and green for safety, that were floating out there relying on her and her paladins. How much was truly riding on their efforts.
It was a reminder, as painful as it was to admit, of how her father had failed not only their planet but the entire universe by hiding away its greatest defender out of fear.
And it was a reminder of the responsibility she was willingly placing on herself; how she was marrying herself to a vocation of protection and defense against evil.
She didn't have a planet or a family who relied on her, although Coran was more than a friend at this point, something between a father-figure and a brother-in-arms.
Allura was comfortable in the role she had chosen for herself. Her family was the universe; her destiny hidden in tiny planets and outposts among the stars. Coran, too, had agreed to marry himself to justice.
Losing everything meant that they felt, in a way few others could, a desperation and a hunger to prevent such tragedy from occurring again. War was the enemy. Fear. Isolation.
But she wasn't sure how she felt when she considered that her destiny was intertwined with five others, five who were more than friends, her fated but not chosen family.
Five whose destinies may not always lead to the stars, at least not forever.
Coming to the observation deck always pushed that thought to the front of her mind, wondering how and when to discuss the topic of long-term plans. Whether she needed to ask if the paladins were as committed to abolishing evil as her, or whether they were only committed to abolishing Zarkon.
The paladins of the past were not defined by a specific evil. They were called to fight against injustice, to risk their lives for any, for all. But her paladins... did they truly understand that?
Today had been no different. Allura needed to focus on these troublesome thoughts and she needed to let them go, for a time. The star maps let her take her moment and release the worries she hid away.
But she wasn't alone. The lights were dimmed, so she hadn't seen him at first, and he clearly hadn't seen her, his body still folded over itself in front of the maps, hands wrapped around his head, gently and firmly massaging his scalp.
Her heart clenched and her thoughts turned again to her father, wondering whether he had guilt over the wounds his soldiers had gotten in the line of duty and how he would have handled it.
Though they had managed to get Lance in a healing pod after the Castle Ship had been overrun by Galra, they hadn't done it in time to save him from long-term effects of concussions, a disturbing human affliction. So unlike the Alteans, so fragile, really. Allura ached when she considered how much these humans were risking for her mission.
And besides that, the pods were meant to heal Alteans from life-threatening trauma: swelling, blood loss, breaks, ruptures, wounds. It wasn't necessarily meant to heal other problems.
Things like diseases or infections, for example, wouldn't heal, though Coran, Pidge, and Hunk were excitedly working hard to hopefully configure them to do just that. "Think of what we could do on Earth with this tech!"
Regardless of the possibilities of Altean healing technology, the fact remained that she had gotten complacent and as a result Lance faced real pain for the rest of his life. Besides the thankfully infrequent severe headache he experienced, Lance also dealt with vertigo and dizziness, sudden mood swings, and difficulty focusing or getting easily confused.
All of which had affected him during training, and, just once, in battle. The mood on the ship was grim; Keith and Pidge frustrated by the errors and Hunk protective of his best friend while Shiro hovered between understanding and anxious.
Lance had only become more aware of his perceived deficiencies, training harder and withdrawing from the group when he was affected. Pidge told him that things should even out eventually, he should even be able to predict when he was about to suffer a migraine or an episode, but thus far they'd proven to be random and of varying strength.
To see him hunched and trembling, normally so tall and bursting with wiry strength....
Allura allowed herself to feel the fullness of her guilt, if only in solidarity with Lance's pain.
"I wish I could take that pain for you," she found herself saying in a very soft voice.
He turned then, grimacing, and wrestling one eye open only to turn back towards the star maps.
"No, you really don't," he replied, managing a chuckle.
"May I sit with you?" Allura allowed a bit of her authority bleed into her voice. She really and truly didn't want Lance to suffer alone.
He moved a little so there was more space and she gracefully sat down, resting a gentle hand on his shoulder.
"Is there anything I can do?"
Lance managed to turn towards her again, eyes bright blue despite the dim light. Or perhaps because of it.
"I don't think so. 'M testing a pain killer those nuts cooked up. Hunk tested it on himself. Said it works. Guess we'll see." He always spoke like this when afflicted with the headaches, clipped and efficient. It was so unlike him that Allura's heart sunk.
She noticed a necklace clasped in his hands, the beads and chain pressing against his unruly hair.
"What is that, Lance? Something sparkly for me?"
The pilot chuckled.
"No, Mama's rosary. Gave it to me when I left for the Garrison. Said she knew I'd do great things and wanted me to be protected."
His face grew somber for a moment, "It's like she knew... she had this look... like she knew I wouldn't see her for a long time."
"May I see it?" Allura offered her palm to him, and he dropped the jewelry into her hand.
It was a series of glass beads on a some kind of metal chain. At the end was a silver cross with a man on it and a medal of a woman, her arms outstretched.
The princess gazed at the woman, feeling drawn to the gentle face.
"Who is this? Your mother?"
At that Lance laughed outright before clutching his head and grunting a little.
Allura gasped, "My apologies, should I go? I do not want to cause you any more pain."
He put a hand on her arm, "No.. stay... company's nice.... I mean, it's not that bad."
He managed a smile at her, one of his real ones before turning his gaze to the star maps and sitting up a little. Allura hoped that this meant the medication was working.
"That's Maria, not my mom. Could say she's not JUST my mom. I mean. In my religion, she's all our mother, she's the mother of God," he pointed at the cross, "and my Mama loves her so much. Told me I could always ask her for help. No matter what I did or where I go."
The princess nodded slowly. Altea.... didn't really have a religion. They had been a scientific race.... they had believed in magic to a limited extent in that they believed quintessence was a force that could not be understood. But they had not ascribed persons or a creator to it. They had been content believing that the universe was too vast to completely understand and to respect it by learning with humility was enough. The idea of religions, of definitions, was fascinating to her, and she eagerly learned from her paladins their concepts and opinions of creation and belief.
She had to admit that it was nice to imagine a loving mother who was always there for her.
"So do you ask her?"
Lance looked confused for a moment before he realized what she meant. He had to concentrate hard to keep his train of thoughts during and after these attacks.
"You mean ask Maria for help? Never used to... it wasn't for me. I mean, I was happy to... make my mom happy. Do what she wanted. But I never really thought about it for myself. It wasn't my belief, it was Mama's...."
Allura glanced down at the beads, feeling as though Lance was struggling with something. The beads were glass but not perfectly round, some chips smoothed over and worn soft.
"But now, I feel like everything I was sure of... the universe, my purpose, all that's changed. It isn't hard for me to believe maybe Mama was right. My purpose is here protecting the universe, protecting Earth and my family.... maybe she really did know that when she gave her rosary to me... when I see all the stars and the planets, it's hard for me to reject the idea that we all have some purpose. And maybe... Maria really is watching over me since Mama can't."
Lance dropped his face then. Allura didn't look up, recognizing his hitching breaths as a need for privacy.
Allura spoke delicately. "I think that is a lovely thought, Lance. Perhaps you can ask her to watch over me too. I do not have a mother here either, none of us do."
She heard a watery chuckle before he answered, "You're right, princess, I shouldn't forget that either. We all need a mother now."
"Is your head feeling better?" She ventured as she passed the rosary back to him, gently rubbing her thumb over the medal.
The paladin nodded slowly, "Kind of a dull ache now but not nearly as bad as before. I've gotta thank Hunk for whatever magic he cooked up. And maybe rehydrate and sleep so I’m useful tomorrow and not a waste of space."
Allura rose and offered him a hand, pulling him up, "That is the spirit, paladin. Getting plenty of rest and fluids should help you recover nicely! Although you are not ever a waste of space, you should know that by now!"
Lance smiled wrily as he put the rosary back over his head, tucking it neatly under his shirt, "Now you're starting to sound like a mom, Princess!"
She flushed before pinching him neatly on the arm. Walking side by side, Lance turned to look at his planet one more time before the star map flickered off as they left the room.
"'It’s funny. My mom always got these migraines... She didn’t hit her head or anyhting but still got them, sometimes really bad. She couldn't get out of bed. Too sick. But she would still take care of us when Dad was out working. She could do it. If she can... I know I can too."
Allura bit her lip, "You must get your bravery from her, Lance. And if you would ever like company when you get a headache like this, I would be happy to be there for you."
Lance flushed a little but his small smile warmed her heart.
He was, they all were, her family now and while she couldn't protect them from injury, she could be with them and help them through their pains. Allura knew her father would be proud.

Boy oh boy, I sure love Keith
...but why? Sometimes it’s really hard to round up feelings to put into orderly words, but it can be interesting to step back and look at results.
Why Keith in particular when no one is ever gonna displace Son Goku of #1 in my heart, or be a better written character than Zuko? I guess it’s partly as Keith is a new addition to my life, of sorts, and also other things I’m about to try and cover.
Oh, this is gonna have spoilers for the series so far, be warned.
And it’s rather on the long side, so under a Cut~! 😺✂
Part 1: The Superficial
What better place to start at than the beginning? And anyway, I may as well get this out of the way first: Keith caught my eye as he’s pretty and reminded me of the aforementioned Zuko. He’s a bishounen in his late teens with dark hair and associations with Fire and the colour red. I mean, this may’ve been partially on purpose, as even accounting for Keith being The Red Guy in the 80s version, he didn’t have the Fire Lion until VLD. There’s also the way both characters have swords, albeit different types, and Keith gets the option of using 2 swords in S2, like how Zuko’s blades are a twin set.
Anyway, the thing to take away from that paragrath is that being reminded of Zuko automatically made me feel more interested in Keith.
Part 2: The Secondhand Content
Unfortunately, I couldn’t watch Voltron, and I wasn’t all that interested when I had other shows to consume and games to play. For quite a while, the only indication I’d get of it were the odd posts from people I follow, which weren’t generally that helpful for someone who, like me, didn’t have context for the show, and lots of it was shipping. Eventually memes trickled through, as well, but they also weren’t that informative (what a shock!)
This wasn’t really enough to actually keep me interested, it just reminded me that Voltron was a thing people liked and it had that Zukolike dude in it.
Part 3: The Spark of Interest
Season 2 came and went, apparently, and I still didn’t really care. Except a couple of people I follow and trust had noticed. One of ‘em, Storm, didn’t write a whole lot about it, but it made me aware it was Current and New. I asked him but he confirmed that from what he’d seen, the Red Guy was pretty bland and only Looked like Zuko. I felt disappointed, like I’d bet on a poor horse or something, lol.
This didn’t motivate me to tune in, but @scrawlers started making a number of posts about Keith, and seeing as our common interest in Yugioh characters meant I had a good time reading the stuff written about Jounouchi from their posts, I got a lot more curious and more secondhand interest than ever before.
Part 4: Season One and Sitting Tight
So now I has much more reason to tune in. I had been spoiled, but only for broad things or things that were meaningless to me, having so little knowledge of the show.
To be really, brutally honest, I wasn’t really blown away by Season One. I felt a lot of the jokes fell flat and that large areas had been skipped over. Areas like characterization. The first episode had been fun, but I wanted them to stay on Earth a bit longer. I still want more Earth stuff, really, but I expect future eps to have flashbacks.
But the worst of all (to me) was that the only Episodes where Keith was interesting for more than a moment was the Pilot and then the 2 at the end. In the big middle chunk of the season I was finding it hard to list his characteristics that couldn’t just be grouped under a Vanilla Protagonist heading.
Part 5: Speeding up and Season 2
So yeah, First Episode aside, I couldn’t feel much for Keith until the last pair of episodes of the season. Things were finally getting more interesting, he went off on his own, in spite of the others warning against it and eventually gets in a fight which is a lot of fun to watch, as he puts up a good effort before having to skedaddle. In the next episode, he’s the only one to suggest not risking The One Superweapon in order to try and get Allura back, which I’m not saying is the right or wrong call, but it’s interesting as he’s trying to think of the Bigger Picture. Heck, the conflict in that scene is interesting too, as he doesn’t argue after the others chew him out, he just says his bit and clams up afters. Then later in the episode he’s pragmatic enough to try and attack Zarkon himself, finds out that won’t work, but keeps going anyway, essentially stalling for time even as he’s getting thrashed.
Like, suddenly I’m able to find seedlings of his characteristics growing! He’s a Determinator! He’s fighting for the Greater Good! He goes to pretty big and risky lengths to achieve his goals! Some of this is still Standard Shounen Hero type stuff, but starting to draw away from the mould and he feels less plain.
This is a nice setup for Season 2, and the first episode of that is one I really love.
Part 6: Shiro and Keith
I haven’t mentioned his relationship with everyone’s favourite Space Dad yet, though in this case it’s more Space Big Bro
Ok so, I’m gonna say right here that I looove the Broganes. Like, dang! What a marvellous brotp it is! I’m largely avoiding Shipping in this series at this point, but point me in the direction of some Quality Broganes Content and I’ll be delighted! I really, really want the series to go into some more depth and flashbacks for these two, and I’m very much for them to be Bros (adopted or otherwise) and all their interactions so far have been bright points that I like to bask in.
Anyway, onto S2E1. The part of the plot that was focused on them was sooo good, and while I liked the other threads in that ep, I still kinda feel that the segments should've been divided to 2 plots per episode, instead of 3 in one and then 1 plot for the entire next episode.
I think Across the Universe is super great for showing insight into the Broganes, like Shiro’s vulnerabilities and bleak humour, and Keith’s resourcefulness and urge to go help, but naturally the main points of that were boiled down to Keith being Shiro’s successor, what with Keith being able to pilot the Black Lion for a bit and more things that are left comparatively subtle.
The show has very heavily implied (as in, I’d be very shocked if they swerved away from this) that Shiro and Keith go back a fair bit. Keith tends to go off on his own, but will always listen to Shiro. He’s often hovering nearby in group shots and is quick to defend him, as in Season 1′s finale. This really wouldn’t work if he only Kind Of Knew Shiro from them having been in the same building, and a lot of jokes are made about Shiro having a Keith bias but they really do gel together and they clearly know each other well.
The point with that is that Shiro knows Keith’s got more to him than the show had really gone and shown at this point. Fortunately, the show steps it up and we get more precious details on Mullet Boy as it goes, and it backs up Shiro’s assessment. Episode 8 brings up the successor point, makes it a very clear point, and it’s only dropped because Keith doesn’t like to think about Bad Things happening to Shiro (same tbh). Still, one can’t dismiss S2E1′s conversation as being something brought on by Shiro’s bad state, as he reasserts the same things here! He points out Keith has gotta reel in his temper and work a few things out, but would otherwise do really good~
This section’s getting a bit long and rambly, I’ll progress
Part 7: Self Doubt
Yeah, if you want me to analyse Keith’s relationships with everyone, nnnot today! Sorry, I don’t consider myself to be a good enough meta writer to tackle that, especially seeing as this is already pretty long lmao
Ahem, back to the show. Once the gang’s reassembled, the plot starts to really propel itself into hyperdrive, so in quite a short space of time we’re given:
Keith recognises the mark on Ulaz’s blade, and later goes to check on his on knife in private. That episode has Keith also get cross at Allura with Shiro for the princess being so discriminative lol
Running away from Zarkon, who is somehow tracking ‘em and won’t leave them alone
Keith has a nightmare about being Galra and thinks ‘aw shit, what if that’s how Zarkon keeps teleporting behind us?’ Allura has similar thoughts, but without the Galra part so they run away together. Turns out that wasn’t either of ‘em, but they have some interesting awkward car conversation about The Galra and how Allura still thinks they’re the Orks of this verse (Chaotic Evil), though Keith does a good job at not getting too upset about this
SPACE MALL!! Also the Knife Keith has is super duper rare and valuable (Duh Nah!!)
Keith finds out at the end of the next episode that (Spoiler warning) He’s Part Saiyan Galra!!
This would be a nice place for the show to have had a bit of a breather, but instead it goes even more into Maximum Overdrive, but I’ll get to the other eps in a bit.
So the first half of S2 really likes to drop heavy hints about Galra!Keith. I’d like to say if I saw it coming or not, but I’d already been spoilered, wup waaah. I didn’t have the whole context, so it was still enjoyable! But I dunno how well they wrote it as I wasn’t fresh and unimpressioned as would probably have been intended. But they did hint at it in Season One, with the hand panel that Only Galra Tech could activate and Keith getting purple burns from the Sith Lightning. This S2 stuff really drives it home for that sweet, sweet reveal, but it was apparently a fond fan theory pre S2, so Good Job, writers.
And, y’know, the Galra thing wasn’t the only thing that had been teased at in S1, but elements of his personality, too! They’re much easier to locate with S2′s revolutions and heavy focus on him though, so I can’t really congratulate the Writers for that. It seems odd that he was so ignored and then so focused, though I get it’s hard to give even coverage to multiple characters and have an action-filled plot, but it’s quite the reversal. I really love the focus he gets in S2, though this does seem to come at the cost of some of the rest, which oughta be corrected in the next season/s. I’m gonna try and recap personality traits towards the end of this post, mind you.
So yes, back to the remainder of S2 (and the series at the time of writing, nooo)
The ep right after the Amazing S2E8 is also really good, already getting the wheels in motion of the fallout of Galra!Keith being established. Not only that, but Keith also slides pretty smoothly into a leader role here and continues to refuse to tar Galra with the same brush, opting to save the mysterious stranger and shrugging it off when they leave while stealing some loot. Keith seems to generally be really patient and easygoing considering what’s been going on, and Hunk goes from being vocally wary to warming right up and learning. It’s gooood.
Allura continues to be generally distrusting of all the Galra, and now that officially includes Keith, that means she freezes him out somewhat. Again, Keith’s response to this is interesting; he doesn’t get angry, instead he’s just quietly sad. It’s like he’s trying not to let it get in the way of all the other shit happening, but it’s obviously cutting pretty deep.
It may be partly this why Keith volunteers himself for a suicide mission, though there’s good technical reasons why he does as well, and we already know Keith isn’t all that idealistic and is willing to make sacrifices for the Greater Good. Eventually Allura comes to her senses and we get a heavy handed, but still quite sweet scene where she apologises.
Keith goes and does some cool stuff with Thace, the respect between ‘em is really cool but nnooooo, Thaaace--! And then, hoo boy, it’s time for the Finale
Part 8: Secret Blade Club and The Season Finale
You may have noticed I skated over most of The Blade of Marmora. Let’s fix that, shall we~?
Aw gosh, man, this episode...! It’s not as cute and funny as SPACE MALL, but I’d be crazy not to find S2E8 The Best. And the suit Keith’s in barely even factors into this choice lmao
But yeah, this episode goes above and beyond and certainly hammers things in. Things like: Keith will never give up. Keith longs to learn about himself and find out who he is. Keith cares so damn much about Shiro. Keith will still put the Greater Good above himself and may even, finally, fold his hand even when before he had utterly refused to quit.
And now... the last of the series (so far!) Blackout. Hoo boy
So the episode is pretty much a long fight scene, and it’s fun to watch, but damn does that end shot feel cheap-- but I’m not here to talk about that
So! Keith in this ep was really good for a nice, simple reason: He automatically took charge when Shiro was out of action. And everyone else listens! And it works, even if Shiro got magic’d to Another Dimension, or whatever.
Scrawlers made a post or 2 about it, but in the post-battle scene, Keith is the focus character, we see his running towards the Black Lion and he’s in the centre when The Gang is all in the cockpit. Symbolism~!
Also a post that’s around shows the first and last lines of the cast, and Keith’s are: “Shiro?!” and “SHIRO!?!”. owch D’:
Part 9: So, what’s Keith’s characteristics, again?
Man, this is long and a bit all over the dang place, ain’t it? Let’s recap Keith’s characteristics:
He’s one hell of a Determinator
Hot blooded and sometimes has a quick temper
But conversely, he’s capable of staying calm even when stressed
Socially awkward, very attached to his friends but doesn’t get some of the nuance associated
If you hurt one of his amigos, he’ll go right for your throat
He’s not as wide-eyed as most of the group, has suggested making sacrifices, taking hostages and often seems to disregard his own safety
He’s always working for the Greater Good
Likes the quiet, which might help explain how he could live on his own for a year in the middle of nowhere without going bananas
Has abandonment issues
Longs to know more about himself
Part 10: ShinyGoku, you didn’t really explain why you Love Keith, you just listed a lot of things haphazardly
It’s hard to really explain using words! Feelings don’t have a direct translation, haha.
In summation, I love the character he was eventually revealed to have!! I’ve said there’s crumbs to be found in S1, though I stand by that outside Ep 1 and the last 2 of S1, you really have to go through with a fine-toothed comb and a magnifying glass. Yeah, you see him get the most angry when Pidge wants out. Yes, you see the much-touted Bonding Moment bit™, but like, it’s really thanks to S2 that I can love him as much as I do
His character is interesting, and the part-Galra thing sure gives a lot of the issues and conflict more ground and ironically makes him lighten up a bit, but even without doing a Dragonball Z an playing the Alien card I do already like the traits listed, haha
Speaking of DB, I feel most Shounen Protagonists are influenced by Goku, as long as they came later. The original Golion was earlier than DB, of course, but Keith has a bit of a blend of playing some of the Goku traits straight and subverting others. I’m not saying this is intentional, but I find it Neat.
Keith Kogane is my Space Son, a Golden Boy from the Battlefield, and I dearly love him. He’s got cool depth and lots more potential! I can’t get enough of his interaction with Shiro! I’m hoping for more Bonding with the other characters (like Pidge! The Super Arm Brotp!!) and am very interested in where he’s gonna go next.
And he is indeed very pretty, lol
#Keith Kogane#Voltron#Voltron Legendary Defender#Character Analysis#Keith#there that's all the trackable tags#THIS IS LONG#Firefly's rambling#I'm not really looking to debate but if I know you we can chat lmao#I noticed I'd done a lot of S headings so I ensured they'd all have that haha

Another “Bonding Moment”
Okay so Voltron s2 has been giving me a lot of feels and I decided to make it worse by writing some Klance fanfiction.
So here’s a thingy ma boober with the glimmer of Lance we saw in s2 where he was doubting how vital he was to the team in sum Klance fic :D
Hope y’all enjoy (and that this doesn’t suck and I finally can start writing more)
No. This wasn’t how it was supposed to happen. Nothing should’ve brought them here, but here they where, their broken team of seven reduced to five.
It was a mission. A mission to see what the Galra knew about Shiro. There where rumors that they kidnapped him and rumors that they sifted through all the planets in the galaxy, but no matter the reason, word had got out that the Galra could have at least a vague idea where their leader would be, and that was a chance they had to take.
The plan was simple. Pidge would fly in on the green lion with Keith, Allura, and Lance aboard the ship. Hunk and Coran where to distract the guards by blowing things up and attacking the ship.
They’d then split up, Lance with Allura and Keith with Pidge. Keith was supposed to help Pidge get through locked doors that could only be operated by Galra soldiers so they could access the main database while Allura and Lance would check the cells for any familiar faces. All of them where worried if the Galra made it to their families yet.
The plan was simple. In and out. If things where to go wrong, Allura and Lance where in charge of leading Galra soldiers away from Pidge and Keith so they could get the last bits of information.
Allura shouldn’t have even been on the ship, really. Hunk could’ve easily taken her place, but she insisted. She said that the yellow lion would serve as a better distraction, considering it’s thick armour could take a bigger punch than any of the other lions. Still, they where hesitant to let her join them. But she insisted, saying that she could be useful if they ran into Haggar, since her magic couldn’t hurt her like it did with the others.
Unwillingly, they let her join them, knowing nothing could stop them. Lance was the one that was supposed to make sure she was safe. He was the one that was supposed to stop this from happening. And he failed.
Flashes of it still circled through his memory even after they came back to the ship, Coran looking for Allura worriedly. Nobody said anything. Pidge went to install the new information into her laptop so she could run a database to translate it, Keith went into his room to do who knows what, and Lance collapsed onto the couch taking off his helmet and rubbing his head as if he could wipe away the memories.
“Lance, go.”
“Allura no. We can’t leave you.”
“I’ll be fine. You’re teammates need you.”
“Lance what happened?” Coran says now. Hunk looks expectantly. Lance takes a deep breath.
“There where too many of them. Allura--” he doesn’t know if he can finish. Keith walks into the room, bandaging his arm.
“Somehow they figured out where we where and had an army of Galra soldiers waiting for us. We tried to fight them, but we just barely got the information we needed. They captured Allura. We tried to help, but she insisted we go. Then they just.... disappeared.”
“What?!” Coran says, his voice slowly rising. “I thought I told you to make sure the princess made it out.”
“I know. We tried. She wouldn’t let us help,” Lance says, his voice sounding hollow in his ears. He should’ve ignored her. He should’ve shot the soldiers. But all he did was stand by and watch in shock as they pinned her hands behind her back, pinning her to the ground. And then, between one blink and the next, she was gone, all because he didn’t do anything to help. He was useless.
Lance didn’t stay to hear what Coran had to say about that. He didn’t need any more reminders of how much he messed things up. They already lost Shiro, and now Allura was gone too. There was nothing any of them could do about Shiro, but Allura was on his hands and if they.... killed her, he wouldn’t know what to do with himself.
Lance first tried to go take a nap. He was so tired after everything, but he couldn’t sleep, because all he saw when he closed his eyes was the light blazing from gunshots.
Then he decided that maybe a nice, warm shower would help clear his mind. It usually did, no matter what it was. But, as the water cascaded around him like rain as he leaned his head on the glass of the shower, he realized that nothing would help. The guilt of everything would eat away at his gut until there was nothing left, and then he would crumble.
He stepped out of the shower and quickly got dressed. He stared at himself in the mirror, starting to think.
“It’s fine, right? I mean, everyone makes mistakes. But I don’t know if anyone’s screwed up this bad,” he says to himself, muttering the last part. He runs a hand through his hair.
“Maybe I mess up more than I help. It’s happened dozens of times before. Maybe--” silent tears are starting to stream down his face-- “Maybe they’d be better without me.” He sniffles, watching the tears drip into the sink like a leaking pipe. He always knew that there was nothing that he brought to the team other than the fact that he could pilot the blue lion, but it was another thing to actually face it.
He looks back up, gulping. I know what I got to do, he thinks to himself.
The exact moment that Lance decided to start packing his bags and heading off, Keith was in his room, shrugging off his jacket and grabbing his bayard. He strode down the halls, his mind full of the weight now on his shoulders. Shiro always wanted him to lead the team if something ever happened, and yes he tried as hard as he could, but now everything was a bigger mess because he couldn’t rely on Allura to help them figure out what to do next. None of them knew how to be proper leaders, and now they’d have to stumble blindly, hoping that they shot in the right direction.
Keith was so absorbed in his own thoughts that he ran straight into someone. Lance.
“Oh. Sorry Keith,” Lance says, keeping his head down. He pushes past Keith, who then grabs his shoulder, turning him to face him.
A backpack is bouncing on Lance’s back and his eyes where red and puffy, his cheeks where still wet. Keith’s heart lurched.
“Where are you going?” Keith asks.
“I could ask you the same thing, Keith,” Lance snaps back, pulling away from Keith’s touch. He whirls around, continuing on his way. Keith steps in front of him.
“What’s wrong?” Keith says. He wished he said it softly, but sadly it came out harsh. Lance cringed.
“Nothing. I’m just going for a walk.”
“Sure. With a backpack full of most of your belongings it looks like.”
“Shut up,” Lance tries to walk past him, but Keith places a hand on his chest, stopping him.
“What’s wrong Lance,” Keith says, now a little more softly.
“Why do you care?” Fresh tears are starting to stain his face. Keith licks his lips.
“Why wouldn’t I?” he asks, confused.
“Because I know that none of you give a shit about me,” Lance says, hints of anger starting to drip into his voice. It shocks Keith. He’s never heard Lance talk like this.
“Why would you think that?”
“All I ever do is let all of you down. Just say it. You don’t need me. You don’t want me. Just kick me out of the team.”
“Lance we--”
“No. I don’t want to hear it, Keith. All everyone has ever did was lie to me. I’m sick of it. I’m sick of all of it.” His voice contained that hoarseness that comes with trying to speak through sobs as tears streamed like waterfalls down his face. He turned and tried to run off, but Keith caught his jacket, pulling Lance to him.
“I never lied to you, Lance,” Keith says, his gaze penetrating. Lance fidgets in his grip.
“Just let me go. You all would be better without me anyway.”
“No we wouldn’t Lance.” How could Keith make him understand. The team needed him. They where already low on numbers and Lance was the loyal friend that they could always count on. That they could trust to have their backs even when they didn’t know they had to guarded. How desperately he needed him.
“And why not, Keith, hmm? Why is it so important that you keep me on the team?” Keith lets go of his shirt, dropping him to the ground. He grabs his bag, turning around and wiping his eyes with his sleeve.
Then, quietly, Keith whispers, “I need you.”
Lance stops dead in his tracks, his heart hammering in his chest. Oh god, how long has he wanted to hear those words? From someone? They where enough to undo him and he dropped to the ground, every wall crumbling into utter nothingness. It was a mess.
There where slow footsteps behind him, then he felt someone crouch down beside him. Then, an arm was around his shoulder, pulling him close into a hug. It was Keith.
“Lance. We need you. There’s nobody else we’d rather have. Don’t beat yourself up like this.” Lance doesn’t say anything, just presses his face to Keith’s chest as Keith cradles his head.
They sit like that for who knows how long. They sit like that until Lance stops shaking and the tears stop coming. They sit like that until Keith’s shirt is soaking wet, then Lance pulls away, looking into Keith’s eyes, something blooming in his chest.
“I’m sorry. I just....”
“No. It’s okay Lance. I get it.”
“You do?”
“You feel left out. Like a fifth wheel. But if anything, you fit in more than I do.”
“No I don’t.” Everything Keith did and said was all on impulse and out of his control. Nothing was done with thought, and that’s why he kissed the top of Lance’s forehead.
“Yes you do. You’re part of our mismatched family, whether you like it or not.” And, oh god, Lance smiled.
“Thanks Keith.”
“Of course. What are friends for?”
Lol so this probably sucks (idk why I just have a hard time working with Klance) but ye here ya go peeps!!!!! :D

Thought on Hunk,Pidge, and Coran : they did amazing the whole season hunk defeated galra with galran policitiscs. Pidge our wonderful pidge saved the universe.. Coran has muscles he looked amazing and did great this season.
My opinions on the 7 eps:
Ep1: Omega Shield
We meet lotors nanny. (she reminds me of space yazma from the emperor's new groove lol”
Hunk learning galra politics are schooling the galrans to stop fighting (im so proud our diplomatic boy )
Ep2 : Razor Edge (more like keith and his mom bonduing ep and I’m all for that”
I love krolia, i love we get keith’s origin about his mom and dad how they met, how she got there
Texas kogane saving keith name from being yorak (lol)
BABY KEITH
They she protected keith from the blast (ahh my heart the feels)
How keith and shiro met (finally i have been waiting since s1)
How keith acted in the garrison (poor boy he fought someone )
Keith gets a pokemon who loves and it is very valid to be (also what's it’s name yorak or keith dad’s name?)
Ep 3:Monsters and Mania
The chilliest ep for the paladins
The dnd ep is my fav. I love dnd i got all their jokes about dnd
Kuro being a literal nerd yass
Lance is an adorable dork and i love him
Pidge growing to defeat coran
Allura looking like a queen being amazing with a bow and arrow
Hunk rocks every look i love how his va tyler labine made him talk man oh and punk friendship is just beautiful
Ep 4:The colony
Romelle losing her brother over quintessence
Her not believing in lotor
The ep allura threw lotor and he deserved and it was right after they kissed
Romelle being a literal badass
Ep 5: The Black Paladins
Keith and Kuro fight was so beautiful and emotional
Keith being the black paladin and has matured so well
I loved this episode too it was amazing the animation everything the soundtrack is beautiful too
Ep: 6: All Good Things
The ep that allura dragged lotor when they were fighting between the dark voltron vs good voltron
I called that lotor was gonna make a bad voltron
Allura summing the blazing sword
Coran needs to wear more muscle tees and show of his muscles more
Ep 7: Defender of all universes
The actual ship that matters the castle of lions has to be destroyed to close off the quintessence field
And the montage yeah that gave me all the feels
SPACE DAD IS BACK
Looking amazing with white hair he is now a silver fox and he gets to rest FINALLY
Allura doing her own version of avatar state to put shiro essence into the clone body
The ending and the parallels . ALL THE PARALLELS THIS SEASON
I CAN’T WAIT FOR SEASON 7 WE GOING BACK TO EARTH
My favorite episode was ep 3 because I love dnd and everyone got to just chill and play game.
My thoughts on season 7
Road Trip season i heard it's going to be from the co executive said in a recent articles
I want keith to play dnd so badly I want him to hang out more with the paladins and be super goofy
Shiro actually seeing matt again
I want to see hunk’s and lance’s galaxy garrison stories
Lance arc might happen
What’s keith pokemon wolf name?
And his dad name?
Hagger is gonna be the new villian along with sendak
I have no idea what else is gonna happen next season but i’m already hyped for it
If you have read through this whole review thank you for reading it sorry it is full of rambles but this is just what I think of this season. I loved it. I hope you are having a nice day, night or ,afternoon and what are your thoughts on this season? Did it make it or break it for you? What do you think is gonna happen in s7 or future seasons? Please like or reblog and follow my main or my writing blog I post these IAL every sunday at 9EST. And again thank you for reading my review.

Allright...a serious post with the reveal of the Paladins Ages.
Okay..just as my screen name highly shows..I shipped Shiro and Allura. I first decided to give Voltron: Legendary Defender a Chance as soon as I saw an ambiguously black/dark skinned princess, something I never grew up with, and was ready to support it on that aspect alone. I am old enough to say I could’ve watched the original Voltron as a kid, but to be honest...it never grabbed my attention. I didn’t care about shipping, I just wanted to enjoy the show. I also started to take a liking to the other characters, mainly Shiro because he just came out perfect to me. A Good leader, charismatic, the original * I need a man like that* trope, and for once not the stereotypical “white man hero”. Than episode 11 in Season 1 happened, Shiro and Allura decided to go on a mission together and I ended up liking their interaction together aboard the Galra ship, even though it was only like 11 minutes of them together, and I was sold from that moment that I liked these two people together. I was also under the impression that these two characters were in the same age group given how they both acted around the other paladins. I didn’t know what was going to happen to these two down the line, and didn’t want to get my hopes up, but I felt maybe they had a chance due to the way Shiro was absolute in rescuing Allura when she sacrificed herself for Shiro to escape, and how as soon as Allura is rescued, she hears Shiro in pain and runs to him along with Hunk. Then I was reminded how Shiro’s 80s counterpart died in the original, and when the Season 2 trailer came out, I along with many other fans feared the worst that his time to kick the bucket was coming. So I was gearing myself up for Shiro dying, and that would be the end of that ship. However, we got another Shallura moment in S2 episode 6 when these two characters had a brief moment together on the bridge and Shiro briefly held Allura’s hand. I freaking lost it and thought this ship was sailing. Then other shallura fans in the fandom put together wonderful analysis of these episodes to show other hints that we believed Shallura was going to happen (Like how Allura teased Shiro in the space mall episode, and he semi teased her back. The select music used for them when they had their interactions, how Shiro called out her name specifically in S2 Episode 12, and how he told Coran to look after Allura) All those little details I didn’t notice at first. However, we now how the handbook with the ages of the paladins and Shiro is no longer confirmed a teenager but an adult. To be perfect honest, I’d feel like a hypocrite to still support Shallura even though there is a 7 year gap. I didn’t like it with Uchuu no Kyodai so I can’t support it here which hurts. I was really excited to see a couple like Shiro and Allura get together, especially since I thought they were in the same age group. Now, Im not going to hate on anyone that continues to ship Shallura. In fact, a part of me questions the writers on how or why did they give me hope that this ship had a shot. I know in the original shiro and allura never end up together, but shit changes dammit! Like in Thundercats, in the 80s film tygra and cheetarah were never a couple but ended up together in the comic, and it was added into the reboot. And Lion-O never had romantic feelings for Cheetarah or Pumy-ra, but he ended up crushing on both so I was hoping Voltron would borrow some things from the original and add onto the new content to the show, however I guess the romance element must stay <i>even though there was hardly any in the original</i>. The Shallura shipper in me doesn’t want to give up and find millions of ways to justify this pairing on the accountability that: We don’t know Altean culture, and perhaps they’re still in a medieval mindset just with advanced science like star wars..(Padme and Anakin anyone?) We still don’t know her exact age, not sure if she’s 18-19. Alteans age differently than humans ( mgann from YJ is 48 by martian standards but 16 by humand standards and she’s dating Konnor who is biologically 6 years old but sped up to physically be 16 o wait..logic) Its a fictional world, who the bloody hell cares? But my morals say no for now. if they can do a time skip making Allura in her early 20s, then fine, I’d go back to the shipping, but for now..I can’t defend this age gap with their current ages...I can’t, unless the creators are ready to pull something out of their asses for us to support the scenes they gave us and say this is okay, cause I got nothing. I used to be 17,18,19 and I used to be 25...the age difference is too much (even though they’re both on the same page in terms of goals of defending the universe) So bring on Romelle..everyone *sighs* atleast I have Saga...(I can never have a MOC and WOC power couple can I?) Im still gonna keep this blog though and repost fan art and such..but I can’t defend it. Probably gonna change the name too to spacedoutshalluratrash..
