Cuddle Retention Program - A.H
summary: it’s valentine’s day and all bimbo!assistant!reader wants is for hotch to stay in bed a litttttleeee longer pairings: aaron hotchner x bimbo!assistant!reader warnings: just fluffity fluff, v day fic, established relationship, bimbo!assistant being clingy, morning cuddles & kisses wc: 1.1k
Aaron smelled good in the mornings. Stupidly good. The kind of good that turned your brain into sugar-spun fluff, like slipping into freshly dried sheets or a golden kiss on frostbitten skin. Maybe it was his soap. Maybe it was his skin. Science might have some sort of explanation (Spencer would have pages of them), something about pheromones and chemistry and attraction.
Or maybe it was just him, just the way he existed in the world, the way loving him had rewired your brain to decide that he was your favorite scent, your favorite feeling, your favorite everything. Either way, you were obsessed with it, shameless in the way you pressed yourself closer, nuzzling into his chest like you could evaporate him into your skin, breathing him in as if you could store the feeling somewhere deep inside you.
And really, who could blame you? You were half awake (mind still sleep-soft) and it was Valentine's Day, which meant self-restraint was officially cancelled.
Your only job today was to love Aaron Hotchner with every fiber of your being, to the fullest capacity, and you planned to be relentless about it. You'd smother him in it, drown him in every ridiculous ounce of affection you could muster. You had a pile of silly, heartfelt gifts, things chosen with obscene amounts of thought, things that would earn you that signature Hotchner sigh, half exasperated with how much you had spent, half-somewhere-deep-down-amused.
And if the universe were feeling generous, if the stars were truly aligned, you'd get the look. That tiny, secret almost-smirk, the one he thought you never noticed, the one that melted you down to nothing but pink, love-struck goo.
You sigh, wriggling a little just to get that much closer. Legs tangled, noses nearly brushing, lips tickling his throat as you exhale, voice sleep-rough and overtly greedy.
"Not letting you go," you murmur with full intent, pressing a semi-conscious kiss to his skin. "Ever, ever, ever."
Aaron exhales slowly, the sound rumbling low in his chest and transferring to yours. His hold on you hardens, not much, but just enough that your stomach does that stupid little flip, the one it always does when he pulls you closer without thinking. When he was somewhere between a dream and waking, but instinctively still reaching for you.
He doesn’t even open his eyes, just tucks his face into your hair and sighs, "Wasn't planning on going anywhere."
Your lips curve into a love-drunk smile as you steal another breath of him. "Better not."
Aaron groans, rolling just enough to squint at the clock before flopping back onto the pillow. His arm stays draped over you, pulling you closer like he's trying to trap you back in sleep with him.
"Sweet girl," he sighs, "why must you insist on waking up at an ungodly hour?"
"Because I missed you while you were sleeping."
He exhales a quiet laugh, his hands roaming up your back in sleepy strokes. "I was right here."
"Not consciously," you countered, nudging your nose against his throat before pressing an exaggerated bite to his jaw. "You weren't actively showering me in love and affection, and I found that extremely rude."
Aaron huffs out a laugh, barely cracking one eye open as his lips quirk. "That so? Didn't realize I was neglecting my duties"
"Mhm," you sigh, tracing a finger over the firm plane of his chest. "Fortunately for you, I'm very forgiving. You can make it up to me by loving me right now."
"I always love you. Even in my sleep. Some of us don't need to be conscious to be devoted."
His fingers continue to skim idly under your pajama shirt, like touching you wasn't even a decision, just something ingrained, something automatic. A habit. A necessity. (Which it is now, but still, the thought stuns you every time.) Then, as if to personally disintegrate you, he presses a kiss to your forehead, careless in the way only deeply familiar love can be.
Your heart squeezes, affection swelling inside you, spreading like sunlight from the inside out. You want to savor in it, to bask in it, but then you feel the slow stretch of his legs, the unconscious twitch of his fingers, the tense of his body like he was preparing to push himself upright. Because Aaron does not know how to just relax in bed. Once he’s awake, he has to be moving, and that was not okay with you.
You don't mean to whine, it just slips out, an undeniably needy sound that always makes him pause. And predictably, he does. His body hesitates, giving you the perfect opening to wrap yourself around him, draping yourself across his lap. One leg hooks over his thigh, your arms lock around his torso.
"Sweetheart, I need to—,"
"No," you plead, lower lip jutting out as you tilt up, blinking up at him so sweetly. "Don't leave me. It's warm. You're warm. Just five more minutes?"
Your eyes flicker up just in time to catch the exact moment he scrubs a tired hand down an equally tired face, and your heart trips, stumbles, falls face-first like it has no sense of self-preservation.
Because you love that. Borderline worship it. The way his fingers drag along his jaw, the brief scratch of his knuckles, the way his palm catches on the small stubble that always grows in overnight. You used to watch him do this at work, back when he was still just your boss.
You'd time it, find the right moment to drop off files or refill his coffee just for the purpose of being closer. Just so you could steal a few extra seconds of him, to soak in all the details you weren't supposed to love yet.
Now, you don't have to steal anything. He's yours, and he's not getting out of bed.
He laughs, letting himself sink deeper into the pillows. "You do realize I'm not supposed to negotiate with terrorists, right?"
"That's okay," you sigh, wiggling until you're sprawled completely on top of him, face pressed against his chest. "I don't negotiate either. I take prisoners."
Aaron exhales, shaking his head, but he’s already wrapping an arm around you, tucking you closer like he has no intention of actually getting up. "Of course."
You let out an exaggerated, dreamy sigh. "Ah, yes. A man who knows when to admit defeat. A rare breed. An endangered species."
"Is that so?"
"Mmmhmm. And do you know what happens to rare, precious things, Aaron?"
His fingers twitched. "Dare I ask?"
"They get worshiped."
You laugh, breathless and helpless, giddy with the sheer force of how much you adore him. And then you're everywhere, littering his face with kisses, pressing your lips to his cheek, his jaw, his absurdly perfect nose, like you can't stand to leave a single inch untouched.
Between kisses, the words spill out, certain, bubbling up in the space of each press of your lips.
"I love you, I love you, I love you."
Like the words belong to him. Like you belong to him. Like you could spend forever saying them and it still wouldn’t scratch the surface of how much.
Aaron sighs, as if he's been personally victimized by your love and affection, but then his fingers press into your ribs, and suddenly you are the victim.
"Aaron!" you shriek, laughter bursting from your chest as you try, and fail, to wriggle away. "You're—ah!—so unfair!"
Before you even register his movement, he flips you onto your back, pinning you down with a ridiculous, infuriatingly smug amount of control.
He smirks, his fingers trailing lazily over your temple as he tucks a loose strand of hair behind your ear. "Oh, I thought we were showing love and affection?"
Your hands fist into his shirt, tugging slightly, refusing to let him tease you with the closeness he’s clearly drawing out on purpose. His lips hover above yours, his breath fanning over your skin.
"Happy Valentine's Day sweetheart," he whispers, before his lips find yours.
"My beautiful," another kiss. "Happy," another, slower this time. "Perfect girl." His lips linger just a second longer. "My girl. My love. Always."
And then he kisses you again, fully, completely, endlessly like he wanted to live in you, in your pulse, in the gaps between every heartbeat, like he wanted to leave traces of himself in every breath you took, every sigh, every second between now and forever.
Yeah. That’ll do it.
You blink up at him, lips still tingling, brain definitely not working. "Oh my god. You should kiss me like that every morning. And every night. And also right now. Just to be safe."
"You'd really let me get away with that?"
His voice is quiet but so sure of you, because he already knows the answer. And then he kisses you again, like he's claiming the privilege anyway.

Some spirit manages to get the gaang and zuko a link that connects their minds. They can share thoughts and their past with each other.
Tweaking this to “and they share dreams” because that’s how I started writing it.
---
“Okay,” Sokka says, wrapping his sleeping bag around himself, and grabbing a comfort Momo, too. “Who’s dream was that?”
No one ‘fesses up. But it was kind of a rude question, and also a little rhetorical, anyway.
They all have nightmares with fire.
Having the Fire Lord himself looming over them, while they were on their knees? Not exactly a stretch.
---
“Okay,” Sokka says, “how does Prince Jerkface keep finding us?”
---
“Okay,” Sokka says, “how did he know that seal jerky seasoned just right with honey—not too much, just enough to add a sparkle of sweetness to the depths of savoriness, a perfect balance for the distinguished tongue to relish—was the perfect bait for his Sokka and Sokka-affliated-parties trap?”
“Maybe if you stop dreaming about it, Sokka,” Katara snaps.
...And they all stop.
---
“I’m going to think really really hard about being friends,” Aang says.
“I’m going to think really really hard about that time my boomerang hit him,” says Sokka.
---
Snatching the boomerang out of midair? Impressive.
Ignoring the Avatar to go hit Sokka with it? Repeatedly? Uncalled for.
---
“Sokka. The city is under attack. Right now.”
“Okay,” Sokka says. “But this is a strategic nap, Katara. We need to know what evil things our Evil Other is up to.”
It’s not like the evil fleet part was a surprise, at least. They’ve been dreaming of it for weeks.
---
“Okay,” Sokka says, looking down. “So the ship-blowing-up-thing. Not a nightmare?”
“No,” says Zuko, glaring up with his glare-face all glare-ful but his thoughts mostly full of bruises so deep they’re making Sokka’s ribs ache, and also his legs are going numb.
“Going to get out of the turtle-seal tunnel now?” Sokka asks, still standing over the opening. With his boomerang.
“...No,” the Prince of the Fire Nation says, as he clings onto the edge of the hole, his legs still very much in freezing water.
---
“Okay,” Sokka says, when they have a Fire Prince all tied up in Blankets of Imprisonment. “So. What actually was your plan here? Do not,” he interrupts, before the teenage-shaped bloodhound-leech can do more than open his mouth, “say ‘capture the Avatar.’”
The prince closes his mouth. Glares. And kind of fuzzes at the edges, in the way all of them do when they’re about to fall asleep.
BOOMERANG, Sokka thinks, and Prince Largely Ineffective As An Enemy jerks back upright. His Momo hat chitters a complaint.
“Since we both know your answer is ‘I had no plan, Sokka, ‘plan’ starts with ‘p’ and there’s no ‘p’ in ‘Avatar’’, we’re going to play a game instead. It’s called ‘sleepy prince free association interrogation time.’”
“...What?”
“Battle plans,” Sokka says. “Attack. Fire Navy fleet. Ship numbers.”
Alas, “Fire Nation intelligence” is not something with which the prince’s brain is overly burdened.
“...Are you insulting me?”
“Are you proving my point?”
Elsewhere, Yue laughs in all their heads. Zuko flinches. The prince has a very marked reaction to the laughter of princesses.
---
“Okay,” says Sokka. “So that just happened.”
Commander Mutton Chops is groaning. Kind of flopping. Much like the bag he tried to fireball. Yue picks it up, and gently wrangles a fish back into water. Sokka is still not clear on what the fish-napping was about.
“It’s the Moon,” Aang says. “Or maybe the Ocean?”
Aang’s thoughts are full of a FACE STEALING EVIL CENTIPEDE MONSTER THAT IS JUST ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE THIN VEIL OF REALITY and that is NOT helping Sokka think.
“Okay,” he says again. “So. At least we can all agree on one thing.”
This is a very diplomatic way of saying they all wanted to dropkick Zhao. But some of them wanted to do it more than others.
The prince of the Fire Nation is even paler than normal, and staring across the clearing at his uncle.
“I can explain,” the prince says, while he’s thinking, oh shit treason oh crap uncle wouldn’t hurt me thought that about father too
Sokka wordlessly plucks Momo from the edge of the pond, where he’s been swiping at the spirit-fish, and drops him on the prince’s head.
Everyone needs a comfort Momo, now and again.
---
“A raft, Zuko?” Sokka says. Outloud. Because it makes things louder when you say it and think it. “A raft?”
Aang is bouncing on his toes. “We should go get him.”
The Avatar is grinning. And thinking, really hard and deliberately, as behind them the Water Tribe ship finishes packing, We should capture the Fire Prince,
“Okay,” Sokka says, with a grin.
#The Chase is them chasing him all over the Earth Kingdom#Azula meanwhile keeps getting thoughts about being the best and Earth Rumbles. only one of these is abnormal.#I'm sure that'll be fine#atla#avatar the last airbender#platonic brain polycule let's goooo#Zuko#Sokka#Aang#the gaang

a/n - inspired by the let’s be honest p annoying a video. i just love the girlfriends but best friends first dynamic iykwim 😣. also took a lot of inspo from some tiktok lives 🩷 anyway yeah this is stupid and late for v day but better than nothing!!
It has been a good week.
On Sunday, Azzi made it a point to spend the day getting ahead on schoolwork as much as she could. Coach had been hinting at a grueling upcoming practice week and Azzi knows herself well enough to know she’d end up putting school on the back burner anyway. And that’s exactly what happened, because come Monday, every time she left a class with homework it would end up in her desk, left there to rot until basketball wasn’t her main priority anymore.
Coach hadn’t been lying—he never is about those things. Practice was torture, often running hours into the night as the girls were made to play again and again until they were good enough in Geno’s eyes. But Azzi had been one of the few on the team who loved it, feeling just as renewed as she was drained after each practice. The more exhausted she got, the longer practice went on, the better she performed. It was unusual for her and it struck up a certain confidence, creating a subtle pep in her step everywhere she went.
The only downside to the week was the lack of Paige Time. It’s been like that for quite some time now—really, ever since basketball season started. After the long summer spent basically attached at the hip, the school year was a rude awakening for them and November was even ruder. They were juggling basketball, school, marketing, and their own personal endeavors—especially Paige’s as she prepares to declare. On top of all that, finding time to love on each other has been difficult, if not impossible. Besides for a few kisses in passing and minor flirting in practice, they really only see each other at bedtime and briefly in the mornings.
Which is why, when Azzi wakes up in her girlfriend’s room, she can’t help but smile a little to herself before she’s even really awake. Because it’s Saturday, and the sun is shining through the curtains, and most importantly, they have nowhere to be today.
She can feel Paige’s presence behind her, and can hear the TikToks playing on her phone, signaling she’s already awake. Actually, TikTok might’ve been what woke Azzi in the first place. Now that she’s really waking up, she realizes that Paige has her phone speakers turned up way too high, and a pang of sleepy irritability goes through her. “Babe,” she mumbles into her pillow, “turn that down.”
Thankfully, the tinny noises stop, but they’re quickly replaced by the familiar teasing tone in her girlfriend’s voice. “Look who’s finally awake.”
“What time is it?” Azzi yawns, eyes still closed.
“9:30,” Paige replies.
At that, Azzi snuggles further into the blankets, the scent of Paige enveloping her. “Not even that early,” she says. “Might go back to sleep.”
“Can I wake you up at ten?” Paige asks. “I’m bored.”
“Yes,” Azzi concedes, used to Paige’s neediness, “you can wake me up at ten.”
“Aight,” Paige says, sounding pleased with herself.
Azzi shifts, feeling a little lonely what with Paige all the way on her side of the bed. They’ve had a whole conversation at this point, yet she’s still yet to receive a good morning kiss. It’s off-putting, to be honest. She expects Paige, ever the affectionate one in their relationship, to sidle up beside her now that she’s semi-awake.
Instead, to her shock, the TikTok sounds start back up again. And they’re just as loud as before.
“Paige,” Azzi exclaims, finally cracking her eyes open, turning over her shoulder to find Paige propped up against the headboard, staring calmly at her.
“Hm?” she asks.
Azzi sighs. She hates having to ask for the things she wants. Usually, Paige just magically knows and provides it for her. She must be too busy on stupid TikTok to remember she has a girlfriend who needs attending to.
In lieu of asking straight-up, Azzi reaches back, grasping for Paige’s thigh and looking up at her with big brown eyes.
Immediately, Paige tosses her phone to the side, chuckling. “Mm. Sorry, princess.” Sliding down under the covers, she situates herself closer until she’s hovering above her, close enough to drop a chaste kiss on her lips. “You wanna cuddle?”
“Obviously,” Azzi mutters, reaching up for one more kiss before turning back over, sighing when Paige snuggles up behind her.
“You gotta little attitude this morning,” Paige helpfully observes, nuzzling into the crook of Azzi’s neck.
Azzi closes her eyes, trying to let sleep call to her as it was just a minute ago. “Just miss you,” she says, a little vulnerable in the way she says it—and maybe that’s also due to the minimal clothes they’re wearing, the skin-on-skin contact always making her feel safe and comforted and exposed all at once.
Paige tuts sympathetically, pressing a kiss to her bare shoulder. “I know, baby.” There’s a beat of silence as they shift, Paige’s hand running over her stomach, trailing up to one of her breasts. “Missed you, too.”
As much as the touch turns Azzi on, it’s less the sexuality of it and more the sheer domesticity; the way they know each other’s bodies well enough to be comfortable with wandering hands that aren’t meant to lead anywhere. She breathes deep as Paige holds her gently, then clasps a hand over her’s, keeping her in place.
It’s only another minute before she’s drifting off again, Paige’s even breaths in her ear lulling her to sleep.
It’s peaceful—maybe the most relaxed she’s been all week. But as she lays there, trying to get a few more minutes of sleep, Paige’s breathing changes just a split second before she’s speaking too loudly in Azzi’s ear, “I’m hungry.”
Azzi startles a little at the sudden interruption. Her eyes fly open, though only to shoot a glare at her girlfriend. “Paige!”
“What? I am.” Paige frowns, pulling away to sit up and rub her stomach forlornly. “You took too long to wake up.”
Azzi sighs, rolling over onto her back. “I thought you were gonna let me sleep until ten.”
Paige shrugs at that, making big puppy eyes at her, and Azzi resigns to the fact that she will not be getting any more sleep this morning.
“Fine,” she grumbles, sitting up with some effort. “But I’m gonna shower first.”
She stands up, Paige’s eyes tracking her from where she sits on the bed. She whistles lowly as Azzi makes her way to the closet, likely due to the fact that she’s only wearing a pair of sheer panties. Azzi rolls her eyes, pulling on a pair of clothes for the walk down the hall.
Paige, of course, trails her to the bathroom, situating herself on the floor while Azzi starts the water. She watches intently as Azzi undresses, and Azzi catches her pout just as she’s stepping inside.
“What?” Azzi asks when she sees her expression.
“Can I come in with you?” Paige asks.
The offer is tempting, but Azzi is still sore from last night and in all honestly, she’s not in the mood after Paige rudely woke her this morning. “No. I’m only gonna be like five minutes.”
“I can help you.”
“I think I got it,” Azzi laughs, pouring soap onto her washcloth—something she is perfectly capable of doing by herself.
Paige stands up, walking over to Azzi’s phone on the counter. “Okay, then lemme play your music.”
Azzi doesn’t really have time to protest before Bossman Dlow is blasting far too loud over the speakers, and Paige picks up a hairbrush, admiring herself in the mirror as she sings. Azzi rolls her eyes, refocusing her efforts on cleaning up.
Paige looks over and catches the unamused look on her face. “Oh, sorry,” she says sincerely, picking up another hairbrush and holding it out. “You wanted a mic too?”
Azzi sighs. She gets the feeling she’ll be doing a lot of that today.
————————————
It’s not until awhile later that they finally get to the kitchen—mostly due to the fact that Paige kept showing her videos and making commentary while she tried to do her hair, causing the whole endeavor to take a lot longer than it should’ve. Ironically, Paige is the one whining about this by the time they’re finally ready.
“Bro, now I’m really hungry,” she says, continuing to rub her belly a bit like a pregnant lady—which makes Azzi giggle—as she heads to the fridge.
“What should we have, mama?” she asks. Then, as Azzi’s thinking about it, she says, “You’re right, pancakes sound good.”
Azzi hefts herself onto the counter. “Never said that.”
“You took too long to answer,” Paige replies simply. She roots through the fridge for another minute before sighing, turning around to face her. “Do we need milk to make pancakes?”
“Do you have pancake mix?”
“Um…” Paige walks to the pantry at this, taking another minute to search that before once again sighing dramatically. “No.”
“Then, yes. We need milk.”
“Why, though?” Paige asks, frowning. “Shouldn’t water work the same?”
Azzi scrunches her nose up at the thought of water pancakes. “Ew. No.”
Paige shakes her head at her. “Okay, Miss Picky.”
“I know you’re not talking.”
“Yeah, whatever.”
Azzi hops off the counter, patting Paige’s chest as she walks past her to the entryway, searching for Paige’s keys. “C’mon, we can go grab some real quick.”
Azzi finds the keys and holds them out expectantly, unsurprised when Paige takes them without hesitation. “I guess. But no fucking around.”
They leave the apartment, and Azzi raises a brow as she watches Paige lock up. “What do you mean by that?”
“I mean,” Paige says, taking her hand and beginning to walk, “we get in, get the milk, and go.”
Azzi swings their hands mindlessly between them. “If I’m remembering right, you’re the one who’s currently unmedicated.”
“Yeah, and I’m chill,” Paige says, pressing the button for the elevator. “My doctors just want my money or sum’, I’m fine without that dumb shit.”
“Paige, you woke me up five times last night because you had things to tell me and didn’t wanna forget.”
“Valid reason to wake you up.” Paige shoves Azzi inside the elevator, and once she follows, Azzi pushes her right back.
“I’m just saying. You’re easily distracted.”
“Nah.”
“We were making out for like an hour yesterday and you interrupted it to tell me a story.”
“It was a funny story,” Paige explains, taking her hand once again when the elevator doors open and dragging her out.
“Debatable,” Azzi quips, even though it was kinda a good story.
“And it’s not like we didn’t continue kissing after that. I just gave us a lil intermission.”
“You never needed intermissions while you were on your meds.”
They’re in the parking lot now, and Paige unlocks her car, nudging Azzi towards it. “Just get in the car.”
“Bossy,” Azzi mumbles.
Believe it or not, the two of them do have days where they don’t fight, argue, or even sass each other. Those days, however, come far and few between—making fun of each other is their love language and thus little spats happen more often than not. And with today being the first day in awhile that they’ve spent together—not to mention Paige’s apparent decision to be more irritating than usual—it’s no surprise that they spend the car ride fighting over music.
By the time they get to the grocery store, Paige is hyperfocused on making sure Azzi stays on track. When Azzi falls behind to smell a candle, she sighs and tugs her away by the wrist: “Bro, why are we going at grandma pace.”
Ironically, Paige, like the hypocrite she is, also finds an abandoned cart in the refrigerated section. Azzi is grabbing milk when Paige bumps her with the cart, getting her attention. When Azzi looks at her, Paige simply says, “Babe, watch,” and proceeds to hop on the cart and ride it down the aisle with the vigor of a small child.
Once the milk is secured, Azzi decides she deserves some remuneration for the taxing work of going out in public with her girlfriend. Stopping Paige on their way to checkout, Azzi looks up at her with big, brown eyes and says, “Can we stop in the books? Just really quick.”
Paige avoids her gaze. “Nah, I wanna leave.”
“Aw,” Azzi coos, running a hand down Paige’s arm somewhat seductively, “please, Paigey? I need new books.”
Still, Paige refuses to make eye contact as she says, “Aren’t you working on, like, two right now?”
Azzi doesn’t usually get this much pushback from her. She wonders exactly why Paige woke up and decided to annoy her today. Still, she knows Paige can’t say no to her. Placing her hand on Paige’s cheek, she turns her face, forcing her to look at her: the slight pout of her lips, the way her eyes widen enough to be convincing. “C’mon, baby,” she says. “I promise I’ll be fast.”
That’s the breaking point. With a sigh, Paige nods, allowing herself to be excitedly led to the book section.
Azzi decides that she’s no longer annoyed with Paige as she searches through the books, reading over the synopses of every one that looks interesting. She’s desperate for something new, even though Paige is right—she already has plenty.
Paige stays miraculously quiet for a solid five minutes, allowing Azzi to take her time and even browsing through a few books of her own.
Those five minutes, however, are as long as she gets before she happens to pick up a romance novel. Paige glances at her in that moment and she barely has time to hide the cover before Paige is gagging, most likely at the straight couple pictured embracing on the front of it. “That’s so gross.”
Azzi puts the book back on the shelf. “It’s no different than when we kiss.”
“Lowkey super offensive thing to say,” Paige replies. Azzi rolls her eyes, watching as Paige reaches down to grab a large book with colorful dragons on the cover. “This looks way cooler.”
Azzi takes a few steps closer to read the bold lettering on the cover, and then snorts. “Paige, that is a coloring book.”
By the time they get back home, Azzi has officially rescinded her earlier decision—she is definitely still annoyed with Paige.
—————————————
When they return to the dorms, despite Azzi’s oddly low patience for Paige’s annoying nature today, she still wants nothing more than to cozy up in bed with her and read her new book. They make the pancakes first, Paige doing nothing to help her case by arguing about how exactly to make pancakes. Once the two of them—plus half the team, who heard from Jana in the group chat that there would be pancakes—are fed, Azzi is ready to retreat back into Paige’s room.
However, most of the team is still there, and Paige’s oblivious ass is refusing to take Azzi’s hints, too busy chatting with their friends.
She’s tried everything: muttering to Paige that she’s tired (“I see a lil’ napski in our future,” is what Paige responds with), sitting herself on Paige’s lap in an unusual display of affection (“We run out of chairs or sum’?” Paige asks), and even aggressively cleaning everybody’s dishes (“I can do that, mama, you go hang,” Paige says, taking over).
At this point, it’s all she can do not to just yell at her girlfriend. She sits on the couch, listening a little sleepily as KK tells her some crazy story. The team is far too raucous for noon on a Saturday, probably in part to the ridiculous amounts of whipped cream and syrup they all used on their pancakes. In the kitchen, Aubrey and Paige start wrestling, and KK stops yapping to go join them. She jumps on Paige’s back, knocking her over and losing her balance in the process until they’re a heap on the floor. Aubrey steps on their backs, flexing, and the girls cheer rowdily.
Azzi is overstimulated.
Refraining from covering her ears, Azzi stands, giving up on the Paige aspect of her afternoon plans. She’s not sure she even wants Paige—who is hysterically laughing as she gets up from the floor—to be with her anymore. It’d be like forcing a hyper dog to cuddle. She’d probably end up getting bitten.
She’s hoping nobody will notice her slipping away, but Kayla does, tugging on a curl as she heads to the hallway. “Where ya going, babe?”
“Paige’s room,” Azzi says simply.
“She’s gonna notice you’re gone.”
Azzi glances at the scene behind them. Someone’s turned on ‘Kung Fu Fighting’ and Ice has now joined the kitchen boxing match. Paige just barely ducks a fist to the face before barreling into Ice’s stomach, once again ending up on the floor, giggling deliriously. The other girls have mostly lost interest at this point, which is fair—this isn’t exactly an uncommon occurrence.
Azzi turns back to Kayla. “I doubt it.”
“Give her five minutes,” Kayla insists.
“She’s too busy being a little boy.” Azzi rolls her eyes, patting Kayla affectionately as she walks past.
In Paige’s room, she breathes a sigh of relief, the closed door offering some solace from the noise outside. Even better, Paige’s airpods sit on her bedside table; Azzi takes them and connects them to her phone, turning on the noise-cancelling setting. Pleased with the results, she settles into her side of the bed, picking up her book and beginning to read.
She gets maybe two pages in before a tap on the shoulder scares the shit out of her.
Jumping, she whirls around, to find Paige standing beside the bed with a sheepish smile on her face.
Azzi takes out an airpod. “Paige, what?”
Her tone comes out more exasperated than she means to and feels a little guilty about the confused look she gets in return. “I noticed you left. Kay told me you were in here.”
“Yeah, just reading.”
“I see,” Paige replies. She hovers awkwardly, then says, “why didn’t you bring me with you?”
Despite her irritability, affection blossoms in Azzi’s chest at her girlfriend’s clinginess, her need to be around her 24/7 if they’re together. And Azzi reminds herself that this is the first day they’ve really had with each other in a while, and Paige is missing her too. Gently, she says, “I tried, but it seemed like you were having too much fun.”
“I mean, I was having fun,” Paige says. “But I’d rather hang out with you than fuck around with those dumbasses.”
“You’re as much of a dumbass as they are,” Azzi quips. “Actually, they probably learned it from you.”
“Like father, like sons,” Paige nods solemnly. Then, unceremoniously, she throws herself on top of Azzi, nearly knocking the wind out of her and crushing her book between them.
“Ow, Paige!” she says, freeing her hands and book as Paige wriggles like a happy little worm on top of her.
“I missed you,” Paige mumbles into her neck.
“We’ve been together all day.”
“You left me alone out there.”
“I’ve been in here for like five minutes.”
Paige lifts her head to pout at her. “Five minutes too long.”
Unable to help herself, she leans forward, kissing the pout off Paige’s lips. When she pulls back, Paige chases after her, trying to deepen the kiss, but Azzi pushes at her chest. “I still wanna read my book.”
“Okay,” Paige says.
“I wanna snuggle with you,” Azzi continues. “But only if you let me read.“
“Okay,” she repeats. She’s staring at Azzi’s lips, though, which doesn’t spark a lot of confidence that she’s actually listening.
“Which means,” Azzi emphasizes, getting Paige’s eyes to snap back up to her’s, “no talking, no showing me TikToks. And no distracting me with sex.”
Paige pouts again at that, batting her eyelashes stupidly. “What, you mean I can’t eat you out while you’re reading?” Azzi flicks her forehead, and she snickers, pressing a chaste kiss to her lips. “Joking. I’ll be good, don’t worry.”
Azzi actually believes her, crazy enough. It’s mostly due to the fact that she and Paige have been together for nearly seven years, so she has her pretty house-trained at this point.
Satisfied, she flashes a smile, picking her book back up. Paige scoots down the length of her body until she’s settled between Azzi’s legs, head resting comfortably on the soft expanse of her tummy. Once they’re situated, Azzi frees up a hand to scratch Paige’s scalp, which’ll keep her happy for a while.
They sit like that for around thirty minutes. The noise of their teammates has died down enough to know that some of them have left, though it’s obvious by the extra chatter that a handful is still hanging around. Paige actually falls asleep within the first ten minutes, which Azzi guesses is probably why she gets so much quiet time.
It still doesn’t feel like enough, though, when a knock sounds at the door. “Y’all decent?”
Azzi glances down at Paige—still fast asleep—and quietly calls out, “We’re good.”
The door swings open and Jana steps inside, followed closely by Ayanna. “We’re going to Chick-Fil-A,” Yanna says, “you wanna come?”
“No, that’s okay.” Azzi pats Paige’s head in a silent explanation. “I’m nap-trapped.”
“Aww, parents.” Jana pulls her phone out, taking a hilariously unflattering close-up of Paige practically drooling on Azzi’s stomach. Azzi giggles as Jana shows her the picture, and she’s distracted enough that there’s nothing she can do when Yanna approaches and jostles Paige awake.
“No, wait—!” Azzi exclaims, reaching out to try and stop her, but it’s too late: the damage is already done. Paige cracks her eyes open with a little groan.
Ayanna scratches the back of her neck sheepishly. Azzi glares at her, then strokes Paige’s hair, trying to coax her back to sleep. “It’s ok, P.”
“Mm,” Paige hums, lifting her head to blink sleepily at them. “Why’d you wake me up?”
“My bad,” Yanna says guiltily. “We just thought you might wanna get Chick-Fil-A with us.”
“Nah, I’m good.” Paige nuzzles back into Azzi’s tummy, surprisingly chill considering she hates being woken from her naps. “Thanks though.”
“Uh-huh,” Jana replies, already heading out the room while she smiles at her phone—Azzi assumes she’s uploading that picture to her close friends.
“Sorry,” Yanna says once again, more to Azzi than anything, before following.
Paige yawns, her warm breath fanning over Azzi’s stomach. As she cuddles back in, Azzi thinks maybe she’ll go back to sleep. She holds onto that hope and resumes her book, threading her fingers through Paige’s hair gently.
This time, it doesn’t work. Which is evident based on the way she lifts herself up on her elbows, giving herself just enough room to press a few kisses around Azzi’s stomach. At first, Azzi tries to ignore it, hoping maybe it’s a casual gesture.
But it’s not long before the kisses slow down as she takes more time on each one, mouth opening so that it leaves the skin of her tummy just a little wet. Of course, it’s out of Azzi’s control the way her thighs tense up, blood rushing straight to her core as her body reacts to her girlfriend’s touch.
Paige curls her fingers around the hem of her top, lips following her hands as they bunch the fabric up to give herself more space, stopping underneath her breasts. She looks up at Azzi, whose gaze is now focused intently on the top of her girlfriend’s head, and flashes a devious little smile before licking a stripe between her ribcage.
Azzi tosses the book to the side, not even bothering to mark her page, freeing her hands so she can use them to pull her girlfriend up by the shoulders, meeting her in the middle for a kiss that’s nowhere near chaste.
Paige is still lying heavily atop her, their chests pressed close together, but it’s still second nature the way Azzi wraps her arms around Paige’s waist in an attempt to get her closer. Paige grins against her mouth at the feeling, their hips coming flush together which makes Azzi gasp despite herself.
“Mm,” Paige hums, beginning a slow, wet trail of kisses down her jawline. “Missed you, baby.”
Azzi can’t help but laugh at that. “We just had sex last night.”
“‘S been way too long since then,” Paige mutters into the crook of her neck. Her teeth graze gently over the sensitive skin and Azzi grips her tighter, thinking she might actually agree with Paige for the first time today.
Paige is obviously building her up, apparently horny after her power nap, and Azzi doesn’t plan on stopping her. This is usually how it goes, anyway, Paige being the initiator nine out of ten times. As Paige pushes her top up above her tits, she knows she has no problem with that.
Her hands are a little cold against Azzi’s warm flesh, nipples pebbled from the temperature change mixed with her arousal. Paige just begins to tweak one of them, making Azzi moan softly—her nipples have always been sensitive—when there’s a sharp knock on the door.
The two of them groan, Paige’s forehead falling against her shoulder.
“Y’all decent?” It is, once again, Jana.
Paige lifts her head, pausing to glance down at her hands where they palm Azzi’s bare tits, and keeping her gaze there as she says, “Not really.”
“Already?” Jana calls, sounding somewhere between amused and disgusted. “You’ve been alone for like five minutes!”
“What do you want, Jana?” Azzi asks before Paige can let out the cocky response she definitely wants to say. Her voice is a little breathy, thanks to Paige absentmindedly rolling a nipple between her thumb and forefinger, and she hopes Jana doesn’t notice.
“We’re not going out anymore. Too much work. I was gonna ask if you wanna watch a movie with us, but…”
“No,” Paige and Azzi yell at the same time.
“Okay, damn,” Jana sighs. “Just being polite. Don’t get pregnant in there.”
Her footsteps trail off, and they make eye contact and laugh, Paige leaning forward to press an amused kiss to her lips. “We have trifling teammates.”
“Don’t talk about our kids like that,” Azzi says.
“They’re some bad ass kids.” Paige gives her another kiss. This time, it’s Azzi who gives chase when she pulls away, but Paige sighs, and to Azzi’s disappointment, pulls her shirt back down.
Azzi pouts, arms traveling up to loop around the back of her neck. “Why’d you stop?”
“They’re still here,” Paige replies. “I’on want them to hear us.”
“They won’t,” Azzi insists. “I’ll be quiet.”
“No, you won’t,” Paige snorts. She kisses Azzi tenderly on the cheek. “Sorry, mama.”
As Paige scoots back down to her original spot, Azzi crosses her arms, feeling a little like a defiant child as she says, “You shouldn’t start something you can’t finish.”
“I know, baby.” Paige nuzzles against Azzi’s navel, doing nothing to help the heat between her legs. “When Jana and Allie are asleep tonight, I’ll get you right, I promise.”
Azzi huffs.
Paige chuckles softly at her, only making her more annoyed. “Thought you wanted to read your book, hm?”
“That was before you touched my tits,” Azzi replies.
Paige lays her head down. “Poor Azzi-Wazzi,” she tuts with faux sympathy.
“You’re a dick,” Azzi mumbles, picking up her book more out of spite than anything, sure she won’t be able to focus on it. She tries valiantly, though.
Her efforts are interrupted at the feeling of fingers dancing across her stomach.
Peering over her book, Azzi sees Paige walking her pointer and middle finger across the length of her tummy, an amused smile on her face as she watches herself. “‘I’m Azzi Fudd’,” she says, voice quiet and high-pitched, “‘and I have a big ol’ head’.”
Taking a deep, shaky breath to calm herself, Azzi returns to her book, pointedly ignoring her.
“‘Babe, do these pants make me look big?’” Paige continues, jumping her hand-Azzi around dramatically as she badly impersonates her.
“No, you look good,” she replies in her normal voice.
“‘You’re supposed to say that,’” Hand-Azzi whines. “‘Tell me for real’.”
“I’m not lying, I love those pants.”
“‘Babe, stop lying to me!’”
Paige sighs dramatically, as if she were actually arguing with somebody else. “I’m not.”
“‘Yes you are. And you’re probably cheating too.’”
“Baby, you know I’d never—“
Slamming her book down, Azzi grabs Paige’s hand, stilling her excessive finger movements. “Paige!”
Paige laughs, probably at herself, sitting up and stretching out. “What?”
“You are stupid,” Azzi replies a little vehemently. With Paige no longer on top of her, she gathers her things and gets out of bed, officially done.
“Where you goin’, mami?” Paige asks, getting up to follow.
Azzi holds a hand up. “I’m going to sit on the couch, so I can read.”
“You’ve been reading for so long,” Paige groans.
Azzi rolls her eyes, turning away and leaving the room.
Paige trails behind her. “They’re watching a movie in there.”
“Okay, then I’ll watch with them.”
“Cool. Wanna sit with me?”
“No,” Azzi says.
Paige grabs her by the waist, holding her against her front, leaning around to kiss her cheek. “C’mon, baby, you know I was just playin’.”
“Okay, and I don’t wanna be played with.” Azzi pulls out of her grasp, shooting a glare over her shoulder.
Paige raises an eyebrow. “Aight, sassy.”
Azzi doesn’t dignify that with a response. She just heads to the living room, flopping down beside Ice to join the movie. She’s relieved (and maybe a little disappointed) when Paige doesn’t follow her.
—————————————
Paige has left her alone for a good amount of time, maybe an hour. Azzi has KK to thank for that: the two of them have been fucking around, playing Fort, and making TiKToks while Azzi enjoys her peace and quiet. She stays in Paige’s apartment, knowing she’s still going to bed with her tonight. Just as long as Paige continues to keep her distance for awhile.
She’s lying on the couch, book held above her, glasses perched over her nose as she reads. The movie ended a while ago, and Morgan and Sarah still linger around, hanging with Jana, and Allie’s in her room. She sort of hopes they don’t hang around too long. As much as she loves her kids, they’re a lot.
Still, it’s manageable. That is, until Paige and KK come barreling into the room, laughing their asses off. Azzi squeezes her eyes shut, hoping they’re going to pass her, but to her dismay, they stop right in front of the couch.
“Babe,” Paige says.
“Yes,” Azzi monotones.
“We need your opinion.” KK cackles as Paige promptly turns around before starting to twerk—or at least, something that looks like it could be twerking—right in front of Azzi’s poor face. “It’s moving, right? There’s motion?”
On any other day, Azzi might sugarcoat it to be nice, but today she just says, “There is absolutely not motion.”
KK clutches her stomach, laughing so hard she almost wheezes.
Paige whips around, hands on her chest. If there were pearls there, she’d be clutching them. “Babe!”
“I told you!” KK yells, pushing Paige out of the way. Azzi groans as she, too, turns around and begins shaking ass. It is admittedly better than Paige’s attempt. “What about me?”
“Mm, it’s a little better.”
“You gotta teach us,” KK says, tugging at Azzi’s hand.
“Ooh, yeah, teach us,” Paige agrees, wiggling her eyebrows. “I’m a visual learner, by the way.”
Azzi scoffs. As if. She pulls herself free from KK’s grasp, then stands. “Absolutely not.”
“Why?” they both frown.
“Because I’m trying to relax and y’all are being weird,” she quips.
“Why don’t you come hang with us?” Paige offers, a little more gently, obviously realizing Azzi is actually a little annoyed.
“No, thanks,” Azzi says. “I’m already overstimulated enough just from listening to you guys.”
Paige furrows her eyebrows. “Where you going, then?”
Azzi sighs, glancing at the door, then to her girlfriend, then back again. “I think I’m gonna head to my room, Paige.”
KK gasps. “Oh, mom and dad fighting?”
“We are not,” Paige insists. Then she turns to Azzi with an exaggerated sad face. “Are we?”
“No,” Azzi says, which is true. They’re not fighting; she just needs a break. “I’ll be back later, okay?”
“Why’re you leaving?” Paige asks, stepping toward her.
“I just…I’m a little grumpy today. Not as patient as usual. I need a few minutes.”
Paige frowns, but KK, never one to read a social situation, laughs. “She really said she has a low Paige threshold,” she giggles, pushing Paige’s shoulder.
“We barely saw each other this week,” Paige says, ignoring KK as she reaches out to hold Azzi’s hands. “We’ve already been apart today.”
“I know, honey,” Azzi says. She decides against pointing out that all in all, they’ve only been apart for around an hour total this entire day. “I promise I’ll be back.”
“Like, soon, right?” Paige says, giving her big puppy eyes that she’s never been able to resist.
“Yes, soon,” she promises. She leans forward for a kiss, KK averting her gaze with an eye roll. “Play Fort with KK or something. You’ll be okay.”
“I won’t,” Paige insists, sounding genuinely worried.
“You will. We have tomorrow, too, remember?” With one last kiss, Azzi releases her hands, grabbing her things to go downstairs. She just barely catches KK making fun of Paige for being a simp before she gets out the door.
————————————
“Open the doooor.”
“Az, c’mon, bro, lemme in!”
“Bitch, you’ve had plenty alone time, pleaseeee.”
Azzi stands by the door, laughing silently at her girlfriend’s pleading—which has been going on, unanswered on her part, for about five minutes now—until her face drops at the last sentence. “What did you just call me?”
There’s a distinctly panicked silence before Paige starts backtracking. “I mean, my beautiful wife who I love and respect. For real, let me in. We can be alone together!”
“Very poetic,” Azzi remarks.
Paige groans, and there’s a thunk that sounds a lot like a forehead hitting a door. “Dawg.”
Once again, Azzi goes quiet, and she can tell the exact moment Paige realizes this because there’s another thunk.
“Azzi, please, babe.”
Still, she doesn’t respond, and that’s when the singing starts.
“Pleaseeee, open the dooorrr,” she sings quite horribly. Azzi quiets her giggle behind a hand.
“Pleaseeee,” she continues, completely off-key. Sza level, my ass.
“No, Paige.”
“Baby, please! It’s almost dinner time.”
“For who? It’s barely four.”
There’s another beat of silence. Then, “Azzi, I’m gonna cry. Please.”
Obviously, Paige is bullshitting her. She’s not going to cry. But still, Azzi’s never been able to be stern with Paige. (And Paige calling her her wife earlier certainly helped matters.)
As soon as she cracks the door open, Paige is trying to barge through, but Azzi stops her with a foot in the door. “Hold on.”
Paige, obediently, stops.
“I’m still a little grumpy,” Azzi admits.
Paige nods. “Okay.”
“So…be gentle, okay? I don’t like being mad at you.”
“I don’t like you being at me,” Paige agrees.
“We’re in agreement, then.”
“A hundred percent.” Paige pushes at the door. “Now, can I come in, please?”
Azzi opens the door all the way, allowing herself to be tackled onto the bed in a very non-gentle way, but still, she laughs. Even when she needs space from Paige, even when she chooses it—she still just ends up missing her the whole time.
“Hey,” Paige says once she’s effectively pinned her to the bed. “Noticed your dorm’s empty.”
Azzi raises an eyebrow. “Uh-huh.”
“I can finish what I started earlier,” Paige offers, suggestive smile on her face before she says, “unless you don’t want that, obviously.”
Azzi’s pulling her down before she can finish her sentence.
(“We’re getting a sweet treat later,” she says a little while later.
“Okay, princess,” Paige says, situating herself between her legs. “Whatever you want.” And then, she drops a kiss on the inside of her thigh before spreading her open, dipping her head down, and going beautifully quiet for the first time all day. They stay in bed for quite some time.)
When Azzi starts her period the next day, she proudly says to herself, “I knew I wasn’t going crazy.”

I think this comic could be greatly improved if sam had a lesbian flag pin on her jacket.
Now hear me out.
Symbolically Paulina would be putting on the pin with out knowing it. As a symbol of her sapphic feelings blooming. She wouldn't see it but we the audience do. In the way we the audience know that this is sapphic but she doesn't yet.
Plus the idea of Sam giving her crush her jacket only to realize after doing so that she hand her a jacket with a pride pin on it and freaking out is hilarious.
Like she gets to her first class and it dawns on her. And then she spends several minutes stressing about it. Then comes up with a plain to get it back.
Star notices and says something to Paulina. So Paulina takes the pin and sticks it on the inside of the jacket. Star looks at her and raises an eyebrow. Paulina response "well she did me a favor with the jacket and it's not my pin so it be rude to throw it away or lose it, right?" Star looks at Paulina skeptically but decides to leave it alone.
That way Paulina gets to ware the pride pin all day with out any judgement. A silent self acceptance.
And then imagine Sam running in to Paulina in the bathroom. Paulina is looking at the inside of the jacket. She looks happy in a way Sam's never really seen from her before. It takes a second for Paulina to register the whole human being that entered the bathroom. It was as if she was in her own little world. Upon the realization that she's no long alone, she quickly tries to act normal. Sam sees this but is to focused on the pin and so ignores the strange behavior of the most popular girl in school. Sam asks Paulina " hey I think I forgot something in my jacket, do you mind if I check?"
So Paulina gives Sam her jacket back so she can check the pockets. Though Paulina was pretty sure that all the pockets were empty. Sam realizes what Paulina was looking at. She leaves the pin, gives back the jacket, and makes an excuse to leave.
Then when Paulina goes to give the jacket back, Sam lets her keep the pin.
Happy late Valentine’s Day lol. This was supposed to be a late Christmas gift for my friend! But it is now a late valentines gift. 🌟💯 how time flies.

hi athena!! i love your writing so so much! could i request smth where reader and derek match on a dating app but when they go on a date, they decide they’re not really compatible and derek sets her up with spencer instead? no worries if you’re not interested tho!
thanks!!! 🩵🩵
mismatch — spencer reid
pairing: spencer reid x fem!reader ( no use of y/n ) content warnings: nothing i think , just awkward spencer a/n: hii anon !! thanks for your request - hope this is what you asked for <33 also i decided to go with glasses spencer ! hope that's okay <3
It had been 30 minutes, and this date was not going the way you’d hoped. You sat across from Derek Morgan, your fingers tapping lightly on the edge of the table as you tried to keep up with his enthusiastic monologue about hockey.
He was charming, sure, and undeniably good-looking, but the conversation felt like it was going in circles. You nodded along, offering the occasional smile or comment.
Derek, being the profiler he was, had obviously picked up on the fact that things weren’t clicking. He paused mid-sentence, his eyes narrowing slightly as he studied you. “You’re not really into hockey, are you?” he asked, his tone more amused than accusatory.
You blinked, caught off guard, and let out a small, awkward laugh. “Uh, no, not really,” you admitted, shrugging slightly. “I mean, it’s not that I dislike it or anything. I just… don’t know much about it.”
Derek leaned back in his chair, a smirk playing on his lips. “Yeah, I kinda figured. You’ve got that look.”
“What look?” you asked, raising an eyebrow.
“The ‘I’m trying to be polite but I’m mentally counting down the minutes until I can leave’ look,” he said, his tone teasing but not unkind.
You winced, feeling a little guilty. “Sorry,” you said, offering him an apologetic smile. “I didn’t mean to be rude. It’s just… this isn’t really my thing.”
Derek chuckled, shaking his head. “No need to apologize. I get it. Dating apps are hit or miss, and honestly, I’m not feeling the vibe either.”
You let out a relieved sigh, grateful for his honesty. “Yeah, it’s… not really working, is it?”
“Nope,” Derek agreed, popping the ‘p’ as he leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table. “But hey, no hard feelings. You seem cool, we…just doesn't seem to be a match.”
You nodded, a small smile tugging at your lips. “Yeah, I think you’re right.”
Returning your smile , he said. “If you ever need a wingman or just someone to grab a drink with, hit me up. I’m always down for making new friends.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” you said, genuinely meaning it. Derek was easy to talk to, even if the romantic connection wasn’t there.
As you both stood up to leave, Derek glanced at you, a mischievous glint in his eye. “You know, you might actually get along with one of my coworkers,” he said casually. “He’s into all that nerdy stuff you were talking about earlier—books, puzzles, random facts. You two would probably hit it off.”
You raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Oh yeah? What’s his name?”
“Spencer Reid,” Derek said, his grin widening. “He’s a genius, like, legitimately. But don’t let that intimidate you. He’s a good guy. A little awkward, but in a charming way.”
”You wouldn’t mind if I gave him your number?” Derek asked, his tone casual but his grin still firmly in place.
You hesitated for a moment, then shrugged, a small smile tugging at your lips. “Sure, why not?” you said.
Derek’s description of Spencer had piqued your curiosity. A genius who was into books, puzzles, and random facts? That sounded like someone you could actually hold a conversation with.
Besides, after the awkwardness of the date, you figured you had nothing to lose.
As you both walked out of the restaurant, you turned to him and gave him a quick hug. “Take care, Derek.”
“You too,” he said, returning the hug with a friendly pat on your back. “Good luck with Reid. I have a feeling you two might actually hit it off.”
You chuckled, shaking your head as you pulled away. “We’ll see.”
Two days later, you were curled up on your couch with a book in hand, a cup of tea steaming on the coffee table beside you. The quiet evening was interrupted by the buzz of your phone. You glanced at the screen, noticing a message from an unknown number.
Hi, this is Spencer Reid. Derek gave me your number—I hope that’s alright. He mentioned you might appreciate a conversation that doesn’t revolve around hockey. I was wondering if you’d like to meet for coffee sometime?
You couldn’t help but smile as you read the message.
The next day, you walked toward the café, which was, thankfully, only a short distance from your apartment. The crisp autumn air nipped at your cheeks, and you tugged your jacket a little tighter around yourself as you approached the small, cozy-looking spot. As soon as you got closer, you noticed him immediately.
Spencer Reid was standing outside the café, his tall, lanky frame hard to miss. He had his glasses on, and his hands were tightly gripping the handle of a worn leather satchel bag slung over his shoulder.
He looked… nervous.
His eyes darted around, scanning the area, and he shifted his weight from one foot to the other, clearly unsure of what to do with himself.
You couldn’t help but notice how pretty he was.
“Spencer?” you called out softly, not wanting to startle him.
He turned quickly, his eyes widening behind his glasses as he saw you. “Oh, hi!” he said, his voice a little higher than usual, betraying his nerves. He didn’t extend his hand, which you remembered Derek mentioning—something about germs and unnecessary physical contact.
Instead, he gave you a small, awkward wave. “It’s, uh, nice to meet you. I’m Spencer. Obviously. You already knew that. Sorry.”
You smiled, trying to put him at ease. “Nice to meet you too. And don’t worry, I’m not a handshake person either. Too many germs, right?”
His face lit up, clearly relieved that you understood. “Yes, exactly! Did you know that the average handshake transfers approximately 124 million bacteria? It’s one of the most unhygienic social customs we still practice. I mean, why not just nod or bow? It’s much more—” He stopped himself mid-sentence, his cheeks flushing slightly. “Sorry. I’m rambling. I do that sometimes.”
“It’s okay,” you said, laughing softly. “I don’t mind. It’s kind of refreshing, actually.”
He smiled, a little shyly, and adjusted his glasses. “Well, uh, should we go inside? They have a great oat milk latte here, if you’re into that. Or, you know, regular coffee. Or tea. They have tea too. Lots of options.”
“Oat milk latte sounds perfect,” you said, nodding.
As he held the door open for you, you couldn’t help but notice the way his shoulders relaxed slightly, as if he was starting to feel more comfortable. You followed him inside. The smell of freshly ground coffee beans filled the air, and the soft hum of conversation created a cozy atmosphere.
Spencer led you to a small table near the window. He set his satchel down carefully, then glanced at you.
“So,” he said, sitting down across from you, smiling softly, “Derek mentioned you like books. What kind do you usually read?”

Could I pretty please hear what you would think about a platonic Doey X autistic player?
Shoutout to my fellow autistic poppy playtime fans, we cannot be stopped >:)
If you like my work, please consider commissioning me :)
Doey & autistic Player
★ Doey is no stranger to people who are on the spectrum, plenty of his old friends from Home Sweet Home had special needs. You shouldn't feel any kind of shame over who you are! If you did, Doey would be quick to knock some sense into you.
★ In that situation, Doey's playful side would come out. "Alright, listen up! You're incredible, and I won't let you feel bad about yourself. Being a bit different than others is not a flaw—it's a part of you. And personally, I think your pretty great!"
★ Feeling overstimulated? If possible, he will adjust the environment as needed. Turning down lights if they are too bright, giving you a blanket with a nice texture and asking the other toys to play quietly.
★ He always asks for permission before getting close to you. Knowing that sometimes it can be a big no. "Hey buddy, is it okay if I stand here? I don't want to make you uncomfortable." Followed by him hastily adding "If you ever feel uncomfortable, just let me know, okay?"
★ Doey gets really upset if someone messes with you. His eyes narrow, the usually jovial demeanor shifting into something more serious. He takes a deep breath, trying to keep his cool before speaking. "Hey, that's not okay. You need to stop. Right now."
★ Internally, Doey is seething with anger. He hates to see anyone treated badly. But chances are the person who was being rude was just a toy who didn't really understand what they were doing. If that's the case, he takes the time to explain why what they did was so wrong.

you: soooo… we live together
you: we’ve gotten married
you: are almost together for 5 years
wifey 💞: Yes…
wifey 💞: Where are you going with this?
you: and we’re really settling down now
wifey 💞: Go on
you: i think it’s time for the next step
wifey 💞: Next step? 😅😳
you: i kind of might have maybe highly likely lowkey went somewhere today
wifey 💞: Oh god what did you do
you: iiiii went to the animal shelter
wifey 💞: Y/N Rodriguez-Putellas, there better not be a dog sitting on my side of the couch when I get back
you: omg no i would never adopt or make such a decision without you knowing
wifey 💞: Phew
you: however…
wifey 💞: How about an aquarium first?
you: ugh no
you: can i talk to a fish?
wifey 💞: You can sure try
you: can i cuddle a fish?
wifey 💞: Better not try that
you: can it keep me company when you’re away?
wifey 💞: Maybe not, but they're fun to look at?
wifey 💞: And they’re easier to take care of than a dog. A dog would be really dependable on us.
you: was i talking about a dog? 🧐
wifey 💞: 😱
you: because i saw THE cutest cat there!!! a little ginger one
wifey 💞: Ginger cats are known to be evil spawns
you: that was the nickname my fam had for me when i was a teenager so i’m the living proof to not judge a book by its cover 😇
wifey 💞: I mean…
you: rude!
wifey 💞: Hahaha tell me about the cat, babe
you: they found him a few weeks ago dumped on the side of a road and he was really malnourished and sick, but he’s been a fighter.
wifey 💞: And he took to you?
you: yeah immediately ):
you: he’s like, my soulmate
wifey 💞: Who’s rude now? Ouch 😂
you: but he's still struggling and is still taking lots of meds. he's weak but getting stronger each week, and i just want to give him a proper chance. the shelter can't afford all of his meds etc bc they're not being funded, but we can afford it. if we didn't adopt him, i'd forever keep wondering if he went to a warm home and a good family or if he even made it.
wifey 💞: Ugh I love how much you always care too much
wifey 💞: Listen, I’m not making ANY promises, but I do agree that adding a sweet fluffy friend to our family could be great, and that I've been thinking about it too.
wifey 💞: When I’m home, we can go to the shelter to visit him again, how’s that sound?
you: no way
you: are you serious
you: misa don't fuck with me now
wifey 💞: Yes way, and I am.
you: aaaaaaaah i’m so excited!!! this is going to be the best thing ever for him!!!!!!
you: and for us ofc
you: i’m going to ask my friend on some tips on having a cat so we can be sure to make a decision
you: outweigh the pros and cons
you: no matter how much i already love that little one, i want to be sure we can properly take care of him and give him the best home ever.
wifey 💞: That’d be perfect. Keep me updated?
wifey 💞: And I’m sure we can
wifey 💞: I love you
you: i love you toooo (even if you had said no)
wifey 💞: Really? 🤔
you: YES REALLY 😪
wifey 💞: Just promise me you won't start loving him more than me.
you: hmmkay 😁😁😁😁

albaquerque 🌼: hello my sweet sweet sisters by birth and by law
albaquerque 🌼: mami and i thought it would be sweet to spend saturday the 21st of the next month with as much family we can gather
albaquerque 🌼: and plus ones (hi misa, hi olga)
wifey 💞: Hi Alba 😌
olga 🌸: Hiiii
you: gonna catch ‘em all.
wifey 💞: Uhhh, let me check, but sounds fun!
ale🐻: What do you have in mind? I’m glad Y/N isn’t picking this time because i’m not going to another pottery class
you: hey!! everyone liked that but you!! you just hated it because yours came out like a demolished turd
olga 🌸: 🤣
ale🐻: That's such an exaggeration
olga 🌸: no, babe, she's right. it looked horrible
albaquerque 🌼: AnYwAy, we want to go go-karting
you: MAMI wants to go GO-KARTING?
albaquerque 🌼: and maybe go to a winery/outside dining in some fancy shmancy vineyard
you: okay in what order? bc i’m not going onto the track after you’ve had a few drinks. you’re already a terrible driver as is
albaquerque 🌼: ok so y/n is no longer invited
wifey 💞: Can I still come?
you: fuck u 😒
albaquerque 🌼: always
olga 🌸: sounds perfect!! i can make it, ale’s still checking her schedule
ale🐻: What about the little ones, though?
albaquerque 🌼: they have an indoor playground or trampoline park thingy there and tia's gonna look after them
you: what the hell, i’d much rather go there than go-karting
albaquerque 🌼: it’s ages 5-12 only on a saturday afternoon
ale🐻: So Y/N will fit right in
olga 🌸: 🤭
you: you're so hilarious
albaquerque 🌼: guys focus, we need to know how many are coming so that we can put in a reservation. they need to prep all the karts beforehand
ale🐻: I should be free on the 21st by the way, so count us in!
wifey 💞: Us too! We'll drive to you guys on Friday already so prepare a room! 😎
you: i'm soooo gonna kick all your asses
olga 🌸: we'll see about that 😌
ale🐻: I'm the best driver on paper, no accidents and no speeding tickets
albaquerque 🌼: that's exactly why you'll be last. you need to be a menace to win go-karting
wifey 💞: Okay, so how dangerous is it exactly....
albaquerque 🌼: as dangerous as we dare to make it mwuahaha
albaquerque 🌼: but you're right, my colleague once got a broken rib lmao so we should probably set some ground rules first like, no intentional bumping or whatever
you: pussy
olga 🌸: pussy
you: jinx
ale🐻: Dios mio, here we go, this looks promising 🤨
you: why did bff1 just text me 'wanna bet on me winning?🏎😈'
albaquerque 🌼: oh yeah
albaquerque 🌼: i invited her
you: 😱
you: as YOUR plus one?!
albaquerque 🌼: oh shut your mouth
albaquerque 🌼: i thought you'd wanted her there since it's been so long, so i invited her. don't act like she's never tagged along to a putellas day before
you: but never as YOUR date ooOoOOoH 😍 smoochie smooch
albaquerque 🌼: y/n shut up before i punch your fucking teeth out
ale🐻: Hey, hey, hey, calma
ale🐻: None of that
ale🐻: The more the merrier. We'll have a fun day ☺️
albaquerque 🌼: exactly!! ale gets it
you: i mean, it's kind of awkward to have your family third-wheel on your date but whatever rocks your boat
albaquerque 🌼: you're mami's least favourite daughter
you: waaahhh waahhh 😪
ale🐻: On second thought, maybe Y/N won't be let in during the 5-12 afternoon, babies don't get to go on the trampolines.
olga 🌸: This is why I love you three
wifey 💞: ⬆️

bff1👅: we should set her up with someone

Fic is under the cut.
Kwon Soonyoung was the bane of your existence. He had his charming moments, sure, and he always performed well at work, but he was also arrogant, loud, and just plain rude, especially to you. Every conversation that the two of you had, even if you were only talking to him because you needed to get work done, left you even more irritated with him than you were before. His answers were brief, his tone was sarcastic, and his lack of interest was evident in every word. However, you figured that you could deal with an annoying coworker. After all, you loved your job, and you knew that you wouldn’t be able to find something in your field that paid as well as your position at Carat Interactive.
As annoying as Soonyoung was, however, you also had to admit that he was incredibly attractive, despite his tendency to act like a douchebag whenever you had the displeasure of speaking to him. His eyes were a warm shade of brown that made you melt every time you looked into them, his smile gave you butterflies every time you saw it, and his lips looked so kissable. You almost wanted to put aside your hatred to find out just how good of a kisser he was. Almost.
If Soonyoung was being completely honest with himself, he wasn’t particularly fond of you either. He thought that you were far too pretentious and far too serious for your own good. Despite all of that, though, he still couldn’t help but think that you were absolutely beautiful. Every time he saw you in the office, he couldn’t help but stare, and he hated himself for it. That didn’t stop him from doing it, though.
One day, when your annoyance with Soonyoung was at an all-time high, Seungcheol, your boss, called a team meeting. It took longer than you wanted to admit for you to find the room, but eventually, you did. Then, when you walked through the door, the only empty seat in the boardroom was right next to Soonyoung, because of course it was. You really didn’t want to sit next to him, but your desire to avoid disrupting the meeting even more than you already had won out in the end. So, you quietly took a seat and prayed that Soonyoung would not speak to you. Of course, because the gods hated you, the moment he saw you, he asked, “You couldn’t find anywhere else to sit?”
“Look around. Do you see any other open spots?”
Seungcheol cleared his throat and asked, “(Y/N). Soonyoung. Is there a problem?”
“No, there isn’t,” you answered, “Apologies for the disruption.”
“Thank you. Now, onto the reason that I called this meeting,” Seungcheol began. “I’ve noticed several issues when it comes to cooperation and respect on this team. So, I have to ask. How are we going to get anything done if no one can work together?”
“Maybe if you didn’t hire pretentious idiots that don’t know what they’re doing, things would be easier,” Soonyoung muttered.
“That’s exactly what I’m talking about, Soonyoung. With that attitude, we’re never going to get anything done. That’s why, as manager, I’ve decided to organize a team retreat. Hopefully, some team building exercises in a fun new location will help you all see the importance of working together.”
You wanted to complain, citing upcoming deadlines and your concerns about the nature of the “team building exercises” that Seungcheol mentioned, but you knew better than to argue with your boss, especially when he was angry.
“Does anyone have any questions?”
Seokmin was the first to speak up, asking, “Will we be paid for attending this retreat?”
“Yes,” Seungcheol answered.
“How long will the retreat last?” someone else asked.
“We’ll be gone for a week. Please make any arrangements that need to be made for pet care or childcare by Saturday, since we’re leaving next Sunday,” your boss replied. “Are there any other questions?” The room fell silent, so Seungcheol added, “Very well. If something comes up, and you do need to speak to me about the retreat, just come and find me in my office. This meeting is adjourned; thank you for your time.”
With the surprise meeting officially over, everyone left the room in hopes of finishing their assigned tasks before clocking out for the day. As you sat down at your desk, however, you heard an irritatingly familiar voice ask, “So, are you looking forward to the retreat?”
“Not even a little,” you replied, not even looking up from your work. “Are you?”
“Oh, totally,” Soonyoung said, his voice laced with sarcasm. “What could be better than being stuck with ‘Cheol and his ‘team building exercises’ for an entire week? It’s gonna be the highlight of my year.”
You couldn’t help but laugh a little bit at Soonyoung’s comment before you said, “Oh, you’re so right. I can’t believe I didn’t even consider the excitement of spending a week locked in a room with our entire team doing trust falls and talking about our feelings!”
After a brief silence, Soonyoung said, “Damn, (Y/N), I didn’t know you had it in you.”
“What do you mean?” you asked.
“I mean, you never make jokes at work. I kind of thought you didn’t know how to make jokes at all.”
“Well, I do. I also know how to be serious when it’s necessary, like when I’m at work.”
“You really need to loosen up sometimes,” Soonyoung commented, his growing frustration evident in his voice.
“I do loosen up, just not here.”
Soonyoung huffed and walked away, seemingly bored of talking to you. You wanted to tell yourself that you didn’t care about his indifference, but you found that a small part of you was disappointed that he’d walked away. Sure, he drove you insane, but you also missed his little comments when he wasn’t around. However, you knew that if you told him that, you’d never hear the end of it. So, you kept your confusing feelings to yourself.
The rest of the week passed with only a few minor arguments with Soonyoung, and before you knew it, you were driving to the hotel where you were supposed to be staying for the retreat. If you were being honest with yourself, you weren’t dreading the retreat as much as you did when you first found out about it. Sure, you weren’t thrilled to be stuck in a hotel with your coworkers for an extended period of time in an unfamiliar area, but you still wanted to be optimistic. After all, you were getting paid to be there, which meant that you basically had a week off from your actual job while still bringing in money. Plus, a small part of you hoped to meet an attractive guy to hook up with in your free time.
Your optimism was snuffed out like a flame when you got to the hotel. Due to a scheduling error, despite both of your requests to the contrary, you would be sharing a room with Soonyoung. You tried to talk to Seungcheol about the error, but he told you that there was nothing that he could do. So, while you weren’t happy about it, you decided that you would try to make the best of a bad situation.
When you got to your room, you found Soonyoung sitting on one of the beds and scrolling on his phone. Without even looking up at you, he said, “Before you say anything, just know that I’m not happy about this either.”
“I wasn’t planning on saying anything,” you retorted. “I just wanted to sit in the room. Is that ok with you?”
“Why wouldn’t it be?”
“I don’t know, you tell me. You’re the one that gets mad at me every time we talk.”
“No, I don’t. I just get tired of your pretentious fucking attitude.”
“I’m not pretentious; I just don’t screw around at work. You might wanna take some notes.”
“Why, so I can be the most boring person in the office? I’ll pass.”
“Fuck this, I’m going out.”
“Bye!”
After you left the room, you wandered around for what felt like hours before you found your friends Wonwoo and Mingyu at the hotel’s bar. When they saw you, they cheered and invited you over with smiles on their faces and drinks in their hands. Once Wonwoo noticed the look of irritation on your face, however, his smile was replaced with a look of concern as he asked, “What’s wrong?”
“I’m sharing a room with Soonyoung,” you spat.
“Are you serious?” Mingyu asked. “I thought you specifically asked to share with anyone but him.”
“I did. Seungcheol said there was an error when the trip was booked, and there’s nothing he can do. Which means I have to deal with him for a week, with no breaks.”
“I mean, this is a break, isn’t it?” Wonwoo asked.
“Yeah, I guess it is,” you replied.
As if on cue, you heard a voice behind you say, “Wonwoo! Mingyu! How are you guys?”
“Hi, Soonyoung!” Mingyu said, a mischievous smile forming on his face. “Wonwoo and I were just leaving to get some rest. (Y/N) just got here, though. You two should hang out!”
You gave Mingyu a death glare, and Soonyoung said, “That’s ok. I don’t think she wants to hang out with me.” If you didn’t know any better, you would have said that he sounded sad as he said it. That wouldn’t make any sense, though. Soonyoung hated you. Why would he be upset that you didn’t want to hang out with him?
You brushed off the thought and opened your mouth to speak, but before you could get the words out, Mingyu smiled again and said, “That’s not true! She’d love to spend some time with you. Isn’t that right, (Y/N)?”
In that moment, you felt like you couldn’t say no. So, you gritted your teeth and said, “That’s right. I don’t mind,” turning around to see Soonyoung’s face change from one of disappointment to one of what you could really only describe as excitement.
“Really? It’s ok if-”
“Really, Soonyoung,” you said, softening when you saw the change in his demeanor. “Why don’t you find us a spot to sit, and I’ll order some drinks.” He nodded and left to find a table, and you turned back to your friend and asked, “What the fuck was that?”
“Trust me, (Y/N),” Mingyu said. “I’ve known Soonyoung since high school. He’s an idiot, but he’s not an asshole. He just acts all weird with you because he likes you.”
“I don’t believe that for a second.”
“Watch how he acts after we leave. Then, when the two of you inevitably get drunk and hook up tonight, you can fall asleep afterward with the satisfaction that I was right.”
You rolled your eyes and said, “Sure, whatever. Bye.”
Mingyu and Wonwoo left, and you decided to order some sodas for you and Soonyoung. After all, you didn’t know what kind of alcohol he liked, and you really didn’t want to get drunk around him.
When you got back to the table with two glasses of cola in hand, Soonyoung smiled and said, “Thanks!”
“No problem. I didn’t know what kind of drink you’d want, so I just got sodas.”
“That’s ok. I don’t drink much, so I don’t really know either,” he responded with a laugh.
“Fair enough.”
There was an awkward silence for a few minutes before Soonyoung asked, “So, how was the drive here?”
“It could have been better. There was so much more traffic than I’m used to,” you responded with a soft laugh.
“Oh my god, I know! I guess Seungcheol picked a busy weekend or something. Listen, I love the guy, but his timing sucks when it comes to planning company events.”
You laughed a bit at Soonyoung’s comment, and some of the awkwardness in the air seemed to dissipate. You also noticed that there was a faint blush on his cheeks, but you decided not to comment on it. After all, you didn’t want the awkwardness to come back.
When Soonyoung heard your laugh, he was certain that it was the most beautiful sound that he’d ever heard. Sure, he still thought that you were far too serious at work, but actually interacting with you outside of the office made him start to reconsider the way he felt about you. He realized that he liked you a lot, and for a brief moment, he thought about asking you to continue the party in your room. He decided against it, however, not wanting to make you uncomfortable or come on too strongly.
As the night went on, you found yourself really enjoying Soonyoung’s company. He was one of the funniest people you’d talked to in a long time, he actually paid attention when you spoke, and he didn’t make a single rude comment the entire time you sat with him, still drinking sodas because neither of you wanted alcohol. You started to wonder what was different, since you’d been alone with him before, but you decided not to think about it too much. After all, there were far more interesting things to think about.
Whether it was the desperation that came from the dry spell you’d found yourself in for the past several months, the way Soonyoung looked at you as you told some story about a girls’ night gone wrong, or some strange combination of the two, you had no idea. All you knew was that you wanted Soonyoung, and you wanted him immediately.
After you finished your story, you looked at Soonyoung and asked, “Do you wanna go back to the room?”
With a smirk on his face that you knew would be the death of you, he asked, “Why? I thought we were having fun here.”
“Oh, I am,” you began, your nerves slowly starting to get the better of you. “I just thought we could have more fun back in the room.”
“What kind of fun?”
“That’s up to you.”
“Well, I have a few ideas.”
“I can’t wait to hear them.”
“When we get back to the room, I’d be happy to show you,” he said with a wink.
Before you knew it, you were paying for the drinks and walking back to your room with Soonyoung. When you got there, you had to wait for him to unlock the door, and it was torture. When the door finally opened, however, the frustration you were feeling shifted into something that you couldn’t quite name.
Soonyoung pinned you to the door the moment it was shut again, his lips meeting yours with a passion that could only be described as animalistic. As his lips moved against yours, a soft moan left your mouth, and he took that as an opportunity to deepen the kiss.
Eventually, he pulled away to let you breathe, and the only thing you could think to say was, “Wow.”
“Already so flustered you can’t even speak? You’re so cute,” Soonyoung commented with a soft laugh.
A soft whine slipped out in response, and you said, “Please do something.”
“What do you want me to do, baby?”
“Want you to touch me.”
“Where?”
“Anywhere. Just, please,” you begged, desperate for anything beyond what you’d already been given.
Soonyoung pretended to think for a minute before he smiled at you and said, “Lie down on the bed for me, baby.”
You immediately did as you were told, and Soonyoung settled himself between your legs before pulling your skirt up and your panties down. Then, he started placing gentle kisses on your inner thigh, only biting occasionally. Every touch left you wanting more, and you could only take so much teasing. When it all got to be too much, you whined and said, “Please, just fuck me already!”
Soonyoung laughed against you and said, “Alright, princess.”
With no additional warning or teasing, Soonyoung slowly licked a stripe up your pussy. A loud moan left your mouth at the sudden stimulation, and it was all you could do to stay still as he continued to eat you out there was nothing in the world that he wanted to do more.
Each time he moaned against you, shockwaves of pleasure went through your body, and you knew that you probably wouldn’t last long. You wanted to be embarrassed, since your annoying coworker was the reason you were so turned on, but you really couldn’t bring yourself to care. After all, Soonyoung was already better at pleasing you than any other man you’d been with before him.
“Fuck, feels so good,” you moaned, tangling your hands in his hair. Soonyoung didn’t respond verbally, but the way he started to move his tongue faster after you spoke told you that he heard you loud and clear.
It was only a matter of time before you started to feel your release building inside you. With a loud whine, you said, “’m close.” Soonyoung groaned against you one more time, and that was all it took for your orgasm to wash over you with a loud moan of his name. He continued his movements as you reached your high, stopping just before the pleasure would have turned into pain.
Once you caught your breath, you sat up and pulled Soonyoung into a kiss, and the fire of lust that you thought had been put out was lit once again. Within minutes, both of you had thrown your clothes on the floor, and Soonyoung was on top of you. After he lined himself up with your entrance, you kissed him again, and he took the opportunity to carefully push into you.
A loud moan left your mouth as Soonyoung entered you, and you held onto him for dear life while you adjusted to his size. He was much bigger than the men you’d previously been with, so it took longer for you to adjust than you would have expected. Not that you were complaining, of course.
Once you were ready, you gave Soonyoung the green light, and he slowly started moving. Every drag of his cock inside you had you seeing stars, and you swore he was better in bed than anyone else that you’d been with before him. As he increased the speed of his thrusts, however, you found that you weren’t thinking about anyone else anymore.
Soonyoung loved watching you fall apart underneath him, if he was being completely honest. Sure, he didn’t exactly plan to sleep with you when he first ran into you at the bar, but he definitely wasn’t complaining. You felt too good around him for him to complain, and he loved every moan and whine that left your lips as he pounded into you.
Just like when he’d gotten you off with his tongue, you knew pretty early on that you probably wouldn’t last long with Soonyoung’s cock inside of you. Still, you really didn’t care. All you cared about was the pleasure coursing through your veins with every movement.
“Fuck. You feel so good, baby. Like this pussy was made for me,” Soonyoung said in between groans. You were too fucked out to respond verbally, but the fact that you started moaning louder after he spoke told him that you heard him loud and clear.
“I’m close, baby. Where do you want it?”
“Inside, please, please, please,” you begged, desperate for Soonyoung to fill you.
Within seconds, Soonyoung reached his high, filling you with cum. Your release came not long after that, and you pulled him in for another kiss as you came undone around his cock. Eventually, you had to pull away for air, but the way he looked into your eyes as you came down from your high left butterflies in your stomach and a smile on your face.
After you both caught your breath, Soonyoung said, “Let’s get you cleaned up, baby,” and climbed off of you. Once you felt like you could move, you took his outstretched hand and stood up, pulling him into a hug. When he let go, you both moved to clean up and get dressed.
Once you were both dressed and comfortable again, you pulled Soonyoung into a hug and asked, “Can we share a bed tonight?”
“Of course, baby. Which one?”
“I don’t think it matters,” you answered with a laugh.
Soonyoung smiled and led you to the bed furthest from the door, and you immediately snuggled into his side. The bed was small, so you had to lie down pretty much on top of him to avoid falling off, but neither of you really minded.
While Soonyoung held you close, the two of you talked about your interests and lives outside of work, with each of you hoping to get to know the other better. The conversation didn’t last very long though, since both of you fell asleep in a matter of minutes, surprised by the events of the day but happy to end it in each other’s arms.
The next morning, you woke up on the floor in between the room’s two beds. At some point during the night, you rolled over too far and fell out of Soonyoung’s bed, much to your frustration and his amusement when he woke up and realized what had happened. Once he stopped laughing, however, he helped you up and asked, “Are you ok?”
“Yeah, I’m alright. I guess I fell out of bed while I was sleeping.”
“I noticed. You looked kind of cute on the floor,” he replied, starting to laugh again.
You pouted at his comment and said, “Why are you laughing at me?”
“I’m just laughing because of how adorable you are, sweetheart.”
You started to smile when he called you cute again and pulled him into a hug. With a groan of frustration, you said, “I really don’t want to participate in whatever Seungcheol has planned for today.”
“I know. I’m pretty sure I heard him mention trust falls when we were all in the lobby last night.”
“You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me,” you said, laughing at the cliché team building your boss apparently had planned.
“I wish I was. But I swear, I specifically heard him say the words ‘trust falls’ to Jeonghan.”
“Oh my god,” you groaned, dreading the event even more.
“Yeah, I’m not excited about it either. Look on the bright side, though. I’ll be right there with you the whole time, no matter how awkward and boring it gets.”
You smiled when you heard Soonyoung say that he’d be there with you, and without really thinking about it, you kissed him again. He deepened the kiss pretty much immediately, with his hands finding their way to your hair and pulling slightly. A soft moan left your lips, and he pulled away with a grin on his face before he said, “Later, baby.”
“That’s not fair! You started it!”
“Yes I did.”
You laughed at his boldness, and the two of you got ready together to face the day ahead. While you went about your morning routine, you occasionally noticed Soonyoung staring at you with a dopey grin on his face and something that you couldn’t quite identify in his eyes. The third time you caught him staring at you, you finally decided to just ask, “What are you looking at?”
“You. Why do you ask? Is it a problem?”
“No. I just wanna know what’s so interesting that I’ve caught you looking at me three different times now.”
“You are. Plus, you look really fucking sexy,” he replied with a wink.
You rolled your eyes, but your soft laugh at his answer betrayed your attempt at looking annoyed.
After your little exchange, you went back to getting ready, and when it was time to leave, you and Soonyoung left together to go to the convention center near your hotel. When you got there, several of your coworkers stared at the two of you, clearly perplexed as to how you two were interacting without an argument.
When you ran into Mingyu, he gave you a knowing smile and asked, “So, how was your night?”
“It was pretty good,” you admitted, looking at Soonyoung as you spoke. “Turns out we have more in common than we thought.”
“See?” Mingyu asked. “I told you to trust me.”
Before Soonyoung could ask what Mingyu meant, Wonwoo arrived and said, “So, (Y/N), I see you had an interesting night.”
You rolled your eyes at the comment and said, “Shut up.”
“Shit, we have to go!” Mingyu groaned. “Do you remember where Seungcheol we were doing the things?”
“No, I don’t,” you answered.
“I do,” Soonyoung said. “Follow me.”
You followed Soonyoung down one of the convention center’s many hallways until you stood in front of a door that was labeled, “Carat Interactive Team Building.” When you entered the room, you noticed a very large stage, complete with a microphone and a banner above it that said, “Trust Falls.” That was when you realized that Soonyoung really wasn’t kidding about what he’d overheard the night before, and you stifled a laugh. You didn’t find the situation funny anymore, however, when your boss took his place in front of the microphone with a look of what could only be described as rage on his face. With a deep sigh, he began, “Welcome to day one of the Carat Interactive team building retreat. We’re here today so that you all can build stronger bonds with your teammates and hopefully learn something new about what it really means to work together and trust each other.”
Soonyoung snickered at Seungcheol’s introduction and said, “We wouldn’t need to learn how to work together if you were better at coordinating.”
“What was that, Soonyoung?” Seungcheol asked, clearly tired of your coworker’s bullshit.
“I said that we wouldn’t need to learn how to work together if you were better at coordinating,” Soonyoung repeated loudly, unfazed by Seungcheol’s anger.
Seungcheol sighed again before he smiled and said, “You know what, thank you, Soonyoung. Thank you so much for volunteering to start our first activity of the day.”
“Hey, I didn’t-” Soonyoung began.
“I don’t care!” Seungcheol exclaimed, his previous rage replaced with unsettling excitement. “Our first team building exercise is trust falls. Each of you will take turns coming up onto this stage and sharing something about yourself that you’ve never told the rest of the team. After you share, you will turn so that your back is facing your teammates and fall backward, trusting your teammates to catch you. Is that clear?” After a series of vague expressions of affirmation and nods from your coworkers, your boss added, “Come on up, Soonyoung! Thank you so much for agreeing to go first.”
Hesitantly, Soonyoung joined Seungcheol on stage and asked, “Why are we doing this?”
“I just told you why. Now, share something that your teammates don’t know about you!” Seungcheol replied, the unsettling excitement in his voice making him sound like a game show host that had been possessed by a demon.
Seungcheol stepped out of the way, and with a sigh, Soonyoung stepped closer to the microphone as you and the rest of your coworkers stepped closer to the stage to catch him. After another deep breath, he said, “I really don’t want to be here right now,” his solemn demeanor making it seem like he was sharing his darkest secret with the group instead of just being a smartass.
You laughed at his “admission,” which earned you a glare from Seungcheol. He didn’t say anything, though, which was a huge relief.
As everyone else on your team took turns sharing secrets and falling, you realized that Seungcheol had intentionally picked you last. You should have been upset, but all you could think about was how grateful you were that you got to put off your part of the exercise for as long as possible.
When Seungcheol called your name, you made your way onto the stage, and he said, “What would you like to share with your teammates today?”
With a deep breath to calm your nerves, you said, “I worry too much about what other people think, and sometimes I think that no one actually likes me.”
You stepped forward, turned your back to your coworkers, and fell, hoping that someone would actually catch you. After you fell, you felt several sets of arms holding you above the ground. When your feet were back on the floor, you turned and realized that Soonyoung was one of the people that caught you. With the same smirk on his face that he had at the bar, he said, “I mean, I had a feeling that you would fall for me after last night, but this seems a bit excessive.”
You laughed at his comment and said, “Thank you.”
With all of the trust falls complete, Seungcheol dismissed you all from the auditorium by saying, “That’s all we had planned for today. Enjoy the rest of your day, everyone, but don’t do anything stupid. I’m looking at you, Soonyoung.”
The man in question laughed and reached his hand out to grab yours. You smiled at the small gesture, and he said, “So, what do you wanna do now?”
“I think I’d like to just go back to the room, if that’s ok.”
“Of course, baby.”
You and Soonyoung made your way back to the hotel room, and when you got there, you collapsed on your bed and sighed. Soonyoung laughed a bit at your actions, and you asked, “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing, sweetheart. You’re just so cute.”
“Oh, shut up.”
“Hmmm, no thanks,” he responded with a laugh. You laughed along with him, and he took a seat on his bed. Once the laughter turned to silence, however, his demeanor grew serious, and he asked, “You know that I really do like you, right?”
“What?”
“I’m talking about what you said during the trust falls. You know that I really do like you, right?”
“Oh. Well, I guess I do now.”
“I mean it.”
“Thanks,” you said with a soft smile.
There was another silence before Soonyoung asked, “So, what do you wanna do?”
“Can we just talk?”
“Yeah, of course. Getting to know you better has been really nice.”
With that, the two of you talked about anything and everything that came to mind until it got too late for either of you to keep your eyes open. That was when you both went to sleep, each of you in your separate beds this time. You briefly considered asking if you could share a bed with Soonyoung again, but you didn’t want to make him uncomfortable or wake up on the floor again, so you decided against it.
The rest of the week went by with no other major events, and you couldn’t wait to finally go home after being stuck in an unfamiliar city with your coworkers for a week. The drive home was far more peaceful than you expected, with significantly less traffic than when you’d driven to the hotel at the start of the week. When you finally got home, the first thing you did was text Soonyoung.
Y/N: Hi. Just wanted to say I had a lot of fun with you this week.
Soonyoung: I had fun too. Any time you wanna hang out, just let me know.
Y/N: I will, thanks. See you at work tomorrow.
Soonyoung: See you tomorrow.
After that, you decided to enjoy the rest of your day by ordering a pizza from the restaurant near your apartment and watching your favorite movie for the thousandth time while you ate it. The time to just exist in your apartment and not worry about expectations from your boss or what your coworkers thought of you was badly needed, and at the end of the day, you went to bed feeling much better about the mandatory fun your boss had spent the past week subjecting you to.
When you went back to work the following Monday, you noticed that everyone in the office was far nicer to you than usual, except for Soonyoung. He wasn’t exactly rude to you, but he also didn’t talk to you nearly as much as he had when the two of you were away. You didn’t worry too much, though, assuming that he was just tired from the trip and wanted a bit of space.
After a few weeks of Soonyoung not talking to you unless it was absolutely necessary, however, you started to worry. Had you said or done something to upset him at some point while you were at the retreat? You had no idea, so you decided to try again to talk to him whenever you could get him alone.
The opportunity to ask Soonyoung what the hell was going on came when you least expected it. You’d gone into the office break room and noticed that he was the only person there. He saw you at the same time that you saw him, and he tried to leave the room. Before he could, though, you stood in front of the door and asked, “Why haven’t you been talking to me?”
“I don’t know what you mean,” he answered, clearly uncomfortable.
“Don’t play dumb with me,” you answered, sick of his shit already. “Since we got home, you’ve refused to talk to me unless you absolutely have to. Why?”
With a sigh, Soonyoung said, “I just got nervous around you after the stuff that happened during the retreat. Can I make it up to you?”
“How?”
“I’ll do whatever you want, baby,” he answered, with that god damn smirk forming on his face as he spoke. Honestly, it probably shouldn’t have had the effect on you that it did, especially when you considered how upset you were that he’d been avoiding you. When you looked into his eyes, however, you didn’t care that he’d upset you. All you could think about was how badly you wanted him.
So, you turned away from Soonyoung just long enough to lock the door before turning back to him and kissing him with everything you had. The intensity almost knocked him over, but he stood firm as he wrapped his arms around you. You moaned softly into the kiss, and Soonyoung pulled away just long enough to say, “Just tell me what you want, baby, and it’s yours.”
“Want you.”
“I kind of figured as much,” he teased. “Do you want my mouth, my fingers, or my cock, princess?”
“Fingers, please?”
“Your wish is my command, my darling,” he said as he shifted your panties to the side and gently inserted two fingers into you. You cried out at the feeling, moving your hips ever so slightly as he fucked you.
With another loud whine, you said, “Feels so good.”
“I know, baby. I love how much of a mess you are for me.”
His words made your head spin, and you started to buck your hips up to meet his hand again. With every movement, you felt yourself already heading toward your release. This time, you were slightly embarrassed, but your arousal overruled any judgement or embarrassment as you lost yourself in the way Soonyoung’s fingers felt inside of you.
“I’m close,” you said, desperate to reach your high.
Once he processed what you said, Soonyoung started to lightly kiss your neck, and his mouth on you was the exact push that you needed to go tumbling over the edge. He continued to gently fuck you through your release until you started to push his hand away, overwhelmed by the continued stimulation.
Once you came down from your high, you leaned closer to Soonyoung to kiss him, but he moved at the last second, sending you tumbling to the floor. After you caught your breath, you stood up and asked, “What the fuck?”
Soonyoung didn’t answer, though, because he was too busy unlocking the door and running out of the room, since you were no longer blocking him. Once you realized that he’d left, and you were alone in the break room, you started to sob uncontrollably, wondering what you’d done wrong for him to treat you like you were nothing to him unless he was fucking you.
Once you calmed down, you stood up, brushed yourself off, and walked out of the break room to go back to the work you’d left unfinished. When you got back to your desk, Wonwoo approached you and asked, “Are you ok? Mingyu said he heard sobs coming from the break room.”
The question almost made you cry again, but you managed to maintain your composure long enough to choke out, “I’m fine. It’s a long story. Can I tell you later?”
“Yeah, of course.”
“Thanks for looking out for me.”
“That what friends are for,” he said with a smile.
Wonwoo walked away after that, and you went back to your work. For the most part, you didn’t have any additional problems, which you appreciated. The only real issue was the fact that you couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened with Soonyoung. Why had he been so cold toward you after what happened in the break room? You had no idea, so you tried to the best of your ability to not think about it. All of your thoughts were on Soonyoung once again, however, when he sent you a text after work.
Soonyoung: I’m sorry I left as quickly as I did. Seungcheol texted me to tell me to get back to work, and I panicked.
Y/N: Are you fucking serious? You couldn’t have said something before you left the room?
After that, you didn’t get a reply, so you decided to try again to avoid thinking about Soonyoung. Just like every other time you’d tried to purge unwanted thoughts from your head, however, thoughts of him and what he wanted from you plagued pretty much every waking moment. After weeks of struggling with what to do, you decided to go to the man that started it all for advice.
When you showed up at Mingyu’s apartment unannounced, your friend was surprised, to say the least. Regardless, he happily let you into his apartment and asked, “What’s up?”
“We need to talk about Soonyoung.”
“What do you mean?
“He won’t talk to me unless he wants to fuck.”
“That doesn’t sound like Soonyoung. He’s an idiot, sure, but he’s not an asshole.” To prove your point, you showed Mingyu your messaging history with Soonyoung. He was surprised to say the least, but he didn’t try to argue anymore. All he said was, “I’m so sorry. If I’d known he’d act that way, I would never have set you two up.”
“I’m not here for an apology. I’m here for advice. I want to ignore the way I feel about him, but I just can’t anymore.”
“Wait, what do you mean by ‘the way you feel about him?’”
You sighed and answered, “I think I want an actual relationship with him.”
Mingyu was shocked by your admission, but once he got over that, he said, “I think you should tell him that.”
“’Gyu, I love you, but are you crazy?”
“Please, just trust me on this.”
“Trusting you is what got me into this situation in the first place!”
“And trusting me is what’s going to get you out of it. I know Soonyoung. If you tell him, he’ll realize that he’s been acting like an idiot and fix things.”
With a sigh, you reluctantly said, “Ok. Thanks for the advice.”
“It’s no problem. You know I’ll always be here for you.”
With that, you pulled Mingyu into a hug, hoping that he was right about Soonyoung. As you left his apartment, you contemplated when you wanted to talk to him. After some careful consideration, you knew exactly when and how you wanted to confront him.
In the end, you decided that Valentine’s Day was the perfect time to go to Soonyoung’s apartment and confront him. You didn’t initially want the discussion to happen on the holiday, but when you realized that it was the next time you would be free, you knew that you had the perfect opportunity to solve the Soonyoung problem once and for all. Either he would confess that he wanted more, which was perfect for the holiday of love, or he would tell you he never wanted to see you again, which would be a perfect example of dark irony. Regardless of the outcome, you figured that there was no better time to get the answers that you so desperately wanted.
You knocked on Soonyoung’s door, and it took some time for him to answer it. When he opened the door and saw you standing in front of him, he tried to close the door. Before he could fully shut it, however, you yelled, “Can we talk, please?”
Hesitantly, Soonyoung opened the door again and asked, “What do you want?”
“I wanna know why you only talk to me when you’re horny.”
“What? What the fuck do you-”
“Every time you’ve called or texted me since we’ve been home from that stupid retreat that Seungcheol put together, it’s been because you wanted sex. I want to know why you think so little of me that you think that’s ok.”
“I don’t think that little of you.”
“Then why the fuck do you do it?”
With a deep sigh, he answered, “Just come inside, and we’ll talk.”
Reluctantly, you agreed, and he moved out of the doorway to let you in. Once you were in his apartment, he led you to his couch. As you sat down, you asked, “Why did we have to talk here?”
With a deep sigh, Soonyoung said, “So I could do this,” and kissed you.
You started to melt into the kiss, just like you always did when you were with him, but it only took a minute for you to snap out of it, pull away, and say, “I’m not having sex with you today, Soonyoung.”
“I know.”
You were quiet after that, confused by the way he was acting and irritated that you let the situation get as far as it did. After a few minutes lost in your thoughts, you said, “Just tell me what you want. If you just want someone to have sex with, tell me. If you want a relationship, tell me. Either way, I’ll be ok. I just can’t stand the games.”
It was in that moment that Soonyoung realized that he fucked up. With another deep sigh, he said, “I want a relationship with you. I’m sorry that I ever made you think otherwise. Can you forgive me?”
You softened when you noticed the tears forming in his eyes, and against your better judgement, you said, “Of course.”
Soonyoung smiled and pulled you into a hug after that, relieved that he hadn’t lost you completely. While he held you close, he said, “Does this mean what I think it means?” You nodded against him, and he let go of you just long enough to cup your face in his hands and say, “Thank you for giving me a chance.”
“Thank you for finally giving me a straight answer about what I am to you.”
With that same smirk on his face, he asked, “So, baby, how do you want to celebrate our first Valentine’s Day together?”
“I’m happy to celebrate however you want. As long as we’re spending time together, I’m fine with anything. I still don’t want to have sex tonight, though.”
“That’s perfectly fine, princess. I’m sorry about how I treated you. You must think I’m an idiot, huh?”
“Just a little, but you’re my idiot.”
With that, you relaxed into Soonyoung’s hold, content with the way your conversation went. You weren’t entirely sure that you trusted him yet, but you still wanted to give him a chance. After all, you liked the way that he made you feel now that you weren’t angry anymore.

I AM SO UNWELL ABOUT JAYCE LITERALLY SHAKING NEXT TO VIKTOR'S HOSPITAL BED. Thank you for the delicious food!
Somehow this gif bolsters my belief that Jayce was the one who found Viktor's unconscious body.
Just...looking back on Jayce's face earlier that day...
Maybe this look says, "Oof, Viktor's about to take out a city block." In retrospect I'm more given to, "Am I really about to leave Viktor alone to blow himself up?"
This moment strikes me as an extension of Jayce's series-long tug-of-war between the council (and by proxy his wider obligation to society) and Viktor, who he's about to leave to perform extremely volatile lab experiments alone. They've known each other for like seven years at this point, so I daresay Jayce would expect Viktor to stay and work long after Sky and the rest of the faculty had left for the night. There's a reason lab safety protocols demand you work with a partner whenever possible. If Viktor does decide to stay late and something goes wrong, there won't be anyone around to help.
Anyway. Mel wakes up to an empty bed. I always joke Jayce's queer premonition alerted him to Viktor's plight, since if someone came by Mel's quarters to fetch him, the noise would've woken Mel as well (plus at this point their tryst was so new I'm not sure anyone would've thought to look for Jayce in Mel's bedroom). Guilt feels like the only viable explanation for Jayce's rude departure.
I posit up until this moment Jayce justified his councilor position as a means to an end. He told himself it was obligation that ripped him from Viktor; the lab; his true calling. They needed the money and the support. But I don't believe Jayce slept with Mel to "get ahead." He's not that brand of opportunist, and anyway—he'd just wrapped up a successful wine-and-dine campaign. Jayce's counselor position was more secure that night than it had ever been. He slept with Mel not out of obligation but because he wanted to.
To me this proves some part of Jayce liked the attention; the mind games; the power that came from his position. It proves Jayce didn't only leave Viktor out of obligation. And I think Jayce realized the same contradiction. He could no longer hide behind excuses like money and public perception. That night Jayce had the choice to go back to the lab and make sure Viktor hadn't electrocuted himself...or sleep with Mel. And he chose to sleep with Mel. To assuage the guilt he slipped out of bed and course-corrected to the lab—only to find Viktor passed out on the floor.
So anyway. Um. Back to OP's gif. Those are the hands of a guilt-ridden man who carried his partner to a hospital. I'm not sure why this gif makes me so sure of the fact, but I will die on this hill.
Noticing these things is above my mental health’s paygrade🥺

✧˚ · . mechanic!vi x streetracer!reader headcannons
a/n; this is actually probably really bad but i've been stuck at work with nothing to do except think about Vi, so. is this even headcannons? is this a drabble? WHO KNOWS, because it's not me
𖤐 the second you pulled up to her shop ranting and raving about the blown head gasket on your E30 M3, talking like a mechanic yourself, she was rendered speechless
𖤐 she's so used to pretty girls arriving who are the clueless "can i get premium air?🥺" types that she has to pinch herself to make sure this isn't a dream
𖤐 it took you waving your hand in front of her face with a raised eyebrow for her to snap back to reality, clearing her throat with a light dusting of pink on her cheeks as she takes a closer look
𖤐 the poor girl almost passed out when you said that you were considering swapping the engine for an M20 anyway
𖤐 you guys had stood and discussed the engine swap for a full hour, poking around the engine bay to make sure that everything was compatible, before she had convinced you that you absolutely have to turbocharge it. it would be a crime not to
𖤐 since Vi gets parts at a cheaper price than retail, it would have been rude of her not to offer to get everything delivered to her shop for you. that was definitely the reason. not because she wanted to see more of you your car
𖤐 so after she closed the shop, you stayed for a bit. both of you huddled in front of the computer monitor, browsing for upgrades that would work with your setup. she even found a second hand engine not far, haggled the price down AND took you to collect it in her pickup. isn't she sweet?
𖤐 you kept coming back day after day to work on the car, and Vi found herself getting distracted by the sight of you stripping and re-building the engine. so much so, that she put a pause on accepting new customers just so she could give you a hand
𖤐 the two of you had settled into a routine, spending the majority of the day working on the car and flirting up an absolute storm with each other, getting takeout in the evening (you took turns in choosing), before bidding each other goodnight
𖤐 she actually found herself disappointed when the build was finished, and maybe she considered sabotaging something just so you would stay longer (sue her)
𖤐 she tried to refuse payment from you, but it took just one expression of 'absolutely the fuck not' before she settled on just charging the cost of the parts
𖤐 "well, speed racer, you ever blow up another engine, you know where to find me" she had said once you had everything ready to leave, and she couldn't even hide the sadness in her voice behind the thin layer of teasing
𖤐 and she swears that she actually died for a moment when you reply with "sure. or i could come back at, say, 7 tomorrow and we can go get actual dinner somewhere nice? my treat"
𖤐 and if she did a little happy dance after the dust left by your wheels had settled, it's nobody's fucking business

𝐚/𝐧: requested by @trulymadlydarling it was slowly gathering dust in my inbox 😭 sorry!
"I think the threshold of my lab isn't exactly the best place for camping."
A woman's silhouette cast a shadow over Spencer as she appeared right above him in the dimly lit hallway.
Spencer sighed in frustration and hauled himself to his feet. As he brushed off his pants, he kept his eyes off the woman in front of him.
"Well, I didn't think you'd make me wait fifty-eight—"
"Oh, just say the hour. Is rounding numbers really that hard for you?" she scoffed, her voice carrying a trace of genuine curiosity. She swiped her access card, unlocking the door to the lab. With her back turned to him, he took in her appearance—an oversized fur coat draped over her shoulders, a designer handbag hanging from one arm. His gaze drifted downward, and to his surprise, he noticed…pajama pants and slippers?
"You should be grateful I even bothered to show up at this hour," she added.
"This is really important," Spencer replied as she led him inside.
She moved through the space with effortless familiarity, heading straight for the light switch. Well, this was her domain, after all—the place where she spent most of her days.
"I don't care," she replied. "Unless you've found proof that Marilyn Monroe was the Zodiac Killer all along—then, well, I care a little. Honestly, you have no idea how much you owe me for showing up..."
He rolled his eyes.
"Should I be thanking you on my knees, or...?"
"I could have been busy. I could have been out with the girls at a club. I could have been having the night of my life..."
"I get it, you made a huge sacrifice answering my request, but can you now—"
"I could have been in bed already. My own. Or not my own," she glanced at him over her shoulder. "Though in that case, I wouldn’t have picked up."
Spencer simply sighed. By now, he was used to it—the way most of their conversations followed the same pattern. How she always set the pace, steering the direction as she pleased. How she sometimes deliberately ignored his words and didn’t care if it made her seem rude. How, in general, she didn’t care what impression she left on others.
He had witnessed it countless times, found it irritating every single time, and yet—every single time—he kept the conversation going. Funny.
She switched on only one of the lights, leaving the room bathed in a soft twilight. Her handbag landed on the long counter beside one of the microscopes, and she tossed her fur coat next to it, completely unconcerned about knocking something over.
Sometimes, he watched her with quiet fascination—the effortless confidence in her movements—and wondered if she had ever, even once, smacked her hip against a doorframe. Or stubbed her toe on a cabinet. Those small, mundane humiliations and everyday mishaps simply didn’t seem to fit with who she was.
He tightened his grip on the plastic bag he had brought with him, the one containing something that needed to be examined. The team didn’t know about it yet.
The thought, the theory, had quite literally yanked him out of sleep. He couldn’t function without checking this lead immediately. But he knew that if he went through the lab, he’d have to wait until morning for the results…so he decided to ask for a friendly favor.
Okay friendly was a big word.
They had known each other for a few months, worked together on several cases, gone on a date, slept together.
Not necessarily in that order.
He was just about to open his mouth, say something, hand her the bag… when, for the first time, he actually saw her in better light than the dim glow—or rather, lack of it—in the hallway. Against his own will, his gaze started its journey over her.
From the slippers on her feet, up the loose pajama pants that ended just below the piercing in her navel, the black camisole with thin straps, to her face—completely free of makeup.
Until now, he had only seen her in two versions. One was her usual, elegant work attire. The other was her evening look—form-fitting, designed to turn heads and keep them there.
On second thought, there was also a third version. Without clothes.
But he had never seen her like this. Casual, comfortable, dressed for nothing more than wandering the walls of her own apartment.
She lifted her arms to tie her hair into a ponytail, and her shirt rode up slightly.
“If my piercing fascinates you that much, I can give you my piercer’s number,” she offered dryly, a fleeting smirk on her lips as she caught his stare. He immediately snapped his gaze back to her face, cursing internally when he realized he probably looked like he had been caught staring. Which, of course, he hadn’t been. “Excellent work. Full professionalism. Experienced hands…”
"I need you to check this stain," he interrupted, raising the bag.
They had been talking too much, and he really needed to know if his suspicions were correct.
She stepped closer to take the bag from him.
“Is this a crucial piece of evidence, or can I touch it?”
“You can touch it…”
She stopped just a step away, shifting her weight onto one hip and tilting her head to get a better look.Spencer instinctively straightened, feeling a strange tension along his spine.Earlier, he had been looking at what she was wearing. Now, what caught his attention was how she looked.
There’s a certain kind of beauty you never quite get used to, no matter how often you see it. The kind that, every time, knocks the air from your lungs for just a second—that fleeting disbelief that someone like this actually walks the earth.
She had it. She radiated it.
And she was just a step away.
She took the garment out of the bag. It was a red turtleneck sweater. She lifted it higher toward the light, furrowing her brow as she examined the stain.
Spencer’s gaze fell on her beautiful face, her eyes shimmering slightly, her lower lip slightly pursed in thought.
Suddenly, she scoffed, snapping him back to reality.
"Mystery solved, and I didn’t even need a microscope," she said, shoving the sweater back into his hands. As he took it, his fingers brushed against hers, catching him slightly off guard. "It’s foundation. I’d recognize that stain anywhere. So, hooray, happy to help, no need to put me in the case report, have a good night, and see you—"
He grabbed her wrist before she could step away, stopping her in place.
"This isn’t a joke," he said, his voice dropping, tinged with sudden irritation. She raised an eyebrow at both his tone and the way he—unintentionally—closed the distance between them. As usual, she looked him straight in the eyes, and as usual, it was hard not to be drawn in. But he tried, because this case was really consuming his thoughts. "Listen, I called you because I need someone to actually test it. Not just glance at it. It'll only take a moment, and then you can go back to crawling into bed with whoever you want. Can you do that?"
The second-to-last sentence made her expression shift slightly.
For a moment, they stood there, unwavering, eyes locked without so much as a blink. Then, the corners of her lips tugged upward—just barely. But it felt more like a forced gesture, an attempt to maintain her carefully practiced expression, rather than a sign of genuine amusement.
"Alright," she replied softly. Not to be mistaken for shyly. There was nothing shy about her, a fact he was reminded of constantly.
"I’ll test it, since it matters so much to you. And then I’m going back to bed." A slow blink before she yanked the sweater from his hands. "With whoever I want."
Why did swallowing suddenly stop being an automatic reflex and turn into something he had to consciously work through?
"That’s great," he said shortly, dryly. He could feel himself slipping into the trap again, letting her toy with him. "Have fun."
"I will."
With that simple assurance, she walked away, and the very particles of air around him seemed to loosen, finally allowing him to breathe again. He turned after her instinctively, the way a swivel chair spins when someone sets it in motion.
She crossed the lab table and leaned over an empty workstation—empty, like all the others. The entire width of the counter separated them now, along with the return of cool detachment to her face. Slowly, Spencer rested his hands on the smooth surface, watching as she got to work. Watching as her hair bounced slightly with the shift in position. Watching as her jaw tensed in concentration. Watching as she leaned over the workstation slightly.
"So," she began flatly, not pausing her work or even looking at him.
Spencer gave his head a small shake, realizing that this time, he really had been staring. At least she hadn’t seen it.
"What exactly am I testing?"
His gaze drifted to her again.
"Something related to the case."
"Wow, I never would've guessed."
He was too distracted to mentally slap himself for how pathetic he was.
"Uh, it’s not exactly groundbreaking," he began.
He could focus—he just had to try hard enough. He just had to clear the lingering trace of her scent from when she’d stood so close. Had to shake off the echo of her words. With whoever I want, she had said. The more he thought about it, the more accurate it seemed. He firmly believed she could have whoever she wanted. With that confidence. With that face. With that body…
"That’s why I’m checking it after hours. Just, you know…backstory stuff…"
A sound escaped her lips—somewhere between a scoff of disbelief and a startled laugh. She looked at him—no, she pinned him with her gaze.
"Backstory stuff?" she repeated, her lips curling into a smile. Not even a mocking one anymore. She was genuinely amused. "Did you, Doctor Spencer Reid, when asked what the evidence pertains to, actually respond with backstory stuff…?"
“No, I…I mean…”
“Oh God, it’s a good thing they don’t put you in front of cameras. Imagine you, at a press conference. Just casually dropping backstory stuff on national television…”
“I can handle myself in front of cameras,” he clarified, feeling an odd warmth creep up the back of his neck. “But there aren’t any here. And besides, I didn’t realize you wanted me to recite the entire case file from memory…”
“That won’t be necessary,” she said with another amused snort. “Backstory stuff is actually a surprisingly accurate term. You know, very professional.”
He rolled his eyes, feigning irritation, though what he really felt was more akin to embarrassment.
“Speaking of professionalism, maybe you could get back to work?” he suggested.
“I don’t have to,” she replied, flashing him a sweet smile. “I already checked everything. And I was wrong. It’s not foundation—it’s nitroglycerin.”
Spencer’s jaw practically hit the floor.
For the first time since stepping into the lab, his mind was running at full capacity.
"Nitroglycerin? Are you sure?"
"Well, I don’t get these things wrong," she said, almost offended.
"Nitroglycerin," he repeated in a whisper.
Oh, for heaven’s sake. Suddenly, everything made sense.
She leaned her elbows on the table, watching him with interest.
He wanted to kiss her.
No—he did not—
"Thank you," he blurted out, her words becoming background noise as his thoughts raced. "Thank you for coming. This…this really helps. I have to tell the team—"
He turned toward the door, dazed by the realization.
Something stopped him.
"Spencer," she called gently.
She didn’t seem angry that he was leaving so abruptly. If anything, there was a certain soft glint in her eyes, a quiet fascination with his sudden revelation. Standing in the doorway, he looked at her one last time, feeling himself freeze in place again. He said nothing, sensing that she wanted to say something instead.
She tilted her head slightly.
"You owe me a favor," she said.
There was something about the way she said it—something that sent a slow, deliberate shiver down his spine. Not even a shiver. More like a careful march of cold fingertips down his vertebrae.
So, naturally, he did what any grown man with an IQ of 187 would do.
He parted his lips slightly and nodded.

It hurt. It hurt in a way I didn't feel I could justify. This person doesn't know me. Doesn't recognize me, but they could. They could know me. Remember us. Remember our lives. Then they'd know they'd be happy with me, but they're happy now. I felt like a creep watching my soulmate and their spouse and their two young children in the outside section of the Italian restaurant.
The children were squealing in joy, wistfulness scrunched in my face. My waiter was finally here, Valentine's Day made the place nearly packed and though I could see the wear in her eyes she had a lovely smile.
"Welcome to Katherine's, my name is Brianna, I'll give you a few minutes to look over the menu," she said as she poured ice water into the glass on the table and handed me the menu, it matched the fanciness of the restaurant.
"Thanks, Brianna," I smiled back. While Brianna didn't say anything about being alone on Valentine's Day I could see her fellow wait staff weren't so kind, an occasional glance my way and visuals of whispers between workers. I wonder what their soulmates were doing. How they'd feel that their destined loves were so rude. I knew my soulmate had a family. I've seen them post on facebook about memories of meeting their spouse, children's birthdays, anniversaries, the like. But I wanted to see it in person, I really don't like how that makes me seem like a stalker.
I stared at the writing on the menu, pieces of paper protected by plastic lined in faux leather, "KATHERINE'S" stamped in gold on the front, nearly unnoticeable stitching. Maybe I should get some meatballs to start, and the snapper seems good, not too expensive. Maybe some lemon sorbet to ice the emotional wounds. This is embarrassing. I heard myself sigh. Now knowing what I want I set down the menu, turning my gaze westward. It never gets old. Katherine's is set on the top of a tall hill overlooking the highway. The sky dazzled in streaks of pink and orange that blurred into dusty blue and darker as the eye trailed East. The unkempt grass swayed as the breeze picked up and slowed as it dropped. It felt good. This body likes the cold, though today is a little abnormally warm for February. This is part of the melancholy of remembering your past lives, remembering how things were. Some people get really weird about it, others get really sad, others get inspired to go for a different career. I watched a collected drop of condensation fall down the glass and absorb into the napkin acting as a coaster. I took a sip.
Brianna came back and I gave her my order and the menu back. I pulled out my phone, beginning to scroll Tumblr. The great thing about people who remember their past lives is that old media never really dies, I got really into now old Hollywood in my previous life and I can connect with other people across the world who also loved it, and new people too. I know there's a group of people out there who remember reading and hearing about Gilgamesh thousands of years ago. People have dedicated phrases and tells for their next life to pass on their belongings, there's an industry about keeping things for your future life. Though that isn't always guaranteed assuming that you realize yourself in your current lifetime and you have the ability to travel to where you died. I get an ad for forced past remembering pills. What great timing. I get a post about national politics. I continue scrolling, reblogging, waiting for the food.
And randomly I get a feeling of being watched, I glance up and—there's my soulmate, staring directly at me. There's a visual hint when a person is remembering their lives. For my soulmate it's unusual flickers of light in their eyes. Oh this isn't what I wanted. I see their spouse recognizes something is wrong and meets where my soulmate is looking. Their eyes squint in confusion and rising irritation. One of the kids asks what's wrong with their parent. They're adorable. The spouse thinks over their words, lips drawing into a line. They say something in hushed tones and the kid asks, "Remembering?" The spouse replies, "Yes, I can tell you more about it at home, eat your spaghetti, gotta have food in your belly."
My soulmate blinks, confused, makes eye contact with the spouse and back to me. I avert my gaze. Oh, Brianna, where are you and can I get that to-go actually. I hear whispers at the other table. A waiter walks by, not Brianna, and the spouse alerts them and says, "Excuse me, can we get some boxes?" The waiter says, "Sure, I'll be right back," walking back the way they came. One hand held my chin the other drummed fingers on the table. I'm so minding my business I'm so not here. I hear more from my soulmate's table,
"I'm not having an argument in public."
"I think I should talk to them."
"Oh, that random stranger is the love of your life? Past, present, future?"
In an attempt to watch I accidentally meet my soulmate's eyes, but I darted away again. Please, soulmate, do not interpret as an attempt at being coy and wanting to be chased.
"Hon', please."
"We'll talk later. Let's get these little guys home first."
My soulmate sighed in exasperation.
The waiter came back with boxes, leaving them with, "Have a good evening," the spouse said thanks. I could tell they were keen on getting out of Katherine's. The kiddos' food got quickly boxed up, the adults followed. The family started heading out, my soulmate at the back, their spouse in the front holding the hand of the younger kid. My soulmate stopped at my table, looking uncomfortable. They bit their bottom lip looking between me and their family.
"Go with them."
"Can I at least get your number?"
They quickly unlocked their phone, face recognition, then pulled up a new contact. Their face was tense, creasing in the brows, highlighting of their crow's feet, a slight pursing of their lips. I could feel my eyes soften. I already knew I couldn't say no to them.
"I don't think that's a good idea, but okay."
I took the phone, entering this body's name and phone number. I handed it back and my soulmate typed something. I got a text message from an unknown number.
"That's me..." They said as they raised a hand to the back of their neck. This body had a lopsided grin. It reminded me of the amount of times I've seen them like this over the lives.
"I think you should go."
"You're right, hey, uhm, I'll call you later?"
"Sure."
My soulmate waves goodbye and I smiled in turn. The sun was red orange over the horizon. The clouds shifting over into purple.
Brianna came back with the food.
"I'm so sorry about the wait."
"You're fine, you're fine. Everything's okay."
"Call me over if you need anything."
"Thanks, Brianna."
She smiled and went over to a different table.
At least the food was good.

Summary: A Valentine's Day singles event was the last place you wanted to be until an unexpected conversation with Bradley Bradshaw turned the night into something else entirely. What started as shared sarcasm and an easy connection quickly became something deeper. And by the time the night was over you realized maybe fate had other plans after all.

Author's Note: Still struggling with a little bit of writer's block because of my headspace but managed to write this over the past few days and I think it turned out okay. This is my first time writing for Bradley so I'd love any feedback you guys have! I'm also still a little rough around the edges when it comes to writing smut so I'm sorry if that part isn't good. Hope you enjoy xx
You should have known better than to let your friends talk you into this. The dim lighting, the too loud music, the room full of strangers who all seemed to have the same agenda. It was everything you hated about Valentine’s Day wrapped into one overcrowded venue.
Somewhere across the room your friends were probably watching and feeling satisfied that they’d successfully dragged you out, but they weren’t the ones stuck making small talk with men who either wanted a rebound, a hookup, or a therapist.
You sighed as you swirled the cheap cocktail in your glass as the third guy of the night launched into a monologue about his “complicated” relationship with his ex.
“Sounds rough,” you said nodding absently.
“Right? And she just doesn’t get that I need space,” he continued, leaning in like you were supposed to be impressed by his emotional unavailability.
You were about to excuse yourself and find your friends when suddenly, a familiar voice cut through the conversation.
"Is this seat taken?" Bradley Bradshaw’s voice was easy, casual, like you hadn’t just been trapped in a one-sided conversation about someone’s divorce for the last fifteen minutes. You blinked in surprise, looking up to find Bradley standing beside you. You couldn’t help the relief that flooded through you at his arrival, a smile tugging at your lips.
“Bradley,” you said with a chuckle, knowing full well he’d been watching from the corner of the room.
You’d always known of Bradley. He was part of the same circle of friends though you’d never really talked outside of the occasional greeting or passing comment at group events. He was always nice enough, just not someone you ever felt a need to connect with more deeply.
He raised an eyebrow at the guy you were talking to, still unaware of his impending rescue. “Mind if I steal her for a minute?” Bradley asked, looking at you with an easy grin.
The guy hesitated for a moment, eyes darting between you and Bradley before he finally nodded, mumbling something about catching up with some people. Bradley’s lips twitched in amusement as he pulled the barstool out and took a seat next to you, making it clear he wasn’t leaving anytime soon.
As the guy shuffled away, Bradley glanced at you and whispered, “I’ve got to hand it to you, you were handling that a lot better than I would have. I’d have run for the hills by now.” His grin was teasing, but there was a warmth in his eyes, an unspoken understanding.
You laughed softly, shaking your head. “It wasn’t that bad, I just didn’t know how to get out of the conversation without being rude.”
Bradley leaned back, getting comfortable. “Yeah, well, you’re lucky I was nearby. My friends usually do a pretty bad job of saving me from stuff like that. But if it helps, I’m pretty good at the rescue mission.”
You raised an eyebrow, glancing at him with a smirk. “I’m sure you are. But I’m guessing Jake and Mickey had something to do with this little rescue operation?”
Bradley chuckled, his eyes twinkling with mischief. “Guilty as charged. They’ve been trying to convince me to get out here all night. Apparently, they think I’m a really good wingman.” He grinned, clearly not taking the comment too seriously. “But between you and me, I’m just here for the free drinks.”
“Free drinks? I think I missed that memo?”
Bradley grinned as he motioned towards where Jake was across the room. “His price for dragging me out tonight was picking up my tab.”
Bradley leaned against the bar, nodding toward your empty glass. “Speaking of…need a refill?”
You hesitated, but he shrugged, adding, “Promise I won’t try to trauma-dump on you.”
That earned him a small smirk. “Well, in that case… sure.”
He flagged down the bartender, ordering for you without making a big deal of it. As you waited, you glanced around the room at the couples awkwardly chatting, the guys clearly scanning for their next target, the women trying to seem interested but mostly looking bored.
“This might be the worst Valentine’s Day event in existence,” you muttered.
Bradley let out a low chuckle. “That bad, huh?”
You turned back to him, arching a brow. “Come on, you’ve gotta admit half these people don’t even want to be here.”
He shrugged, smirking. “That includes us, doesn’t it?”
You laughed. “Fair point.”
The bartender slid your drink across the bar, and you murmured a thanks before turning back to Bradley. Somehow, standing next to him felt…easy.
“So, what were you doing before you got roped into this disaster?” he asked, taking a sip of his own drink.
You shrugged. “Had plans to drink wine, eat chocolate, and watch literally anything that wasn’t romance related. But my friends staged an intervention.”
Bradley smirked. “Tragic. What were you gonna watch?”
“Probably a concert film. You know, something that really captures the Valentine’s Day spirit.”
His grin widened. “Concert film, huh? What band?”
You lit up, immediately launching into a mini rant about your favorite band. You talked about their best albums, the time you saw them live, how their early work was underrated but their newer stuff still held up.
And Bradley listened. Not in the way people do when they’re just waiting for their turn to talk, but in a way that made it clear he was actually interested. He nodded along, grinning at your enthusiasm, occasionally asking a question or making a comment that proved he was keeping up.
At some point the noise of the bar faded into the background. The awkwardness of the event, the forced conversations, the reason you even came here in the first place…it all disappeared. It was just you and Bradley talking like this was the most natural thing in the world.
And you kind of liked it.
The DJ must have had a cruel sense of humor because without warning the music shifted from upbeat pop to something softer. Something that clearly signaled it was time for couples to pair off.
Around the room, people hesitated before awkwardly stepping closer to their dates or scanning for someone to dance with. You weren’t planning on participating until you caught movement out of the corner of your eye. It was him. The guy Bradley had saved you from earlier. He was lingering near the bar, glancing in your direction like he was debating coming over for round two.
You groaned under your breath. Bradley must have followed your gaze because he leaned in slightly, voice low and amused. “Uh oh. I think your ex therapy patient wants a second session.”
You shot him a look. “Don’t even joke.”
His lips twitched like he was fighting back a laugh. Then after a beat he nudged you with his elbow. “We could always pretend to be together. Save you from another deep dive into his complicated emotions.”
You arched a brow. “Oh, we could, huh?”
Bradley shrugged. “I mean I’d hate to see you suffer.”
You rolled your eyes but honestly? The idea didn’t sound half bad. Better than standing here pretending not to notice your former conversation partner lurking nearby.
“…Fine,” you sighed.
His grin was instant like he’d known you’d agree. Without another word he reached for your hand, his fingers warm as they laced easily through yours. Before you could process that he was already tugging you toward the dance floor.
“Smooth,” you muttered as you followed.
He glanced back smirking. “I have my moments.”
You stopped near the edge of the dance floor where other couples had already started swaying to the music. Bradley turned to face you, his expression a mix of amusement and something softer, unreadable.
“Alright,” he said, his voice teasing but gentle as he placed one hand at your waist. “Try not to fall in love with me.”
You snorted. “I’ll do my best.”
Dancing with Bradley was… easy. You had expected it to be awkward and stiff like the kind of slow dances you endured at high school prom. But he moved with an effortless confidence, his hand steady at your waist, his grip firm but not overbearing.
“So,” he said, his voice warm and low over the music, “how am I doing so far? Best fake Valentine’s date you’ve ever had?”
You smirked. “I don’t know. The bar’s pretty low. But I’ll give you points for effort.”
Bradley let out a soft chuckle, his thumb absently tracing small, slow circles where it rested against your waist. You weren’t sure if he even realized he was doing it, but you noticed. And suddenly, the room felt just a little warmer.
The first song came to an end, and for a second, you thought about stepping back, about making some teasing remark and putting space between you. But before you could, the opening chords of a new song filled the air. A song from your favorite band. Your favorite song.
Your eyes widened. “No way.”
Bradley’s mouth quirked into a knowing grin. “What are the odds?”
You looked up at him, suspicious. “You didn’t request this, did you?”
He shook his head, smirking. “Nope. But now that it’s playing, it’d be wrong not to keep dancing.”
Before you could argue—not that you really wanted to—he pulled you back in.
And this time, you let yourself sink into it.
Somewhere between the first verse and the chorus, the space between you disappeared. His hands settled more firmly at your waist, his fingers pressing lightly into the fabric of your shirt. Without really thinking about it, your arms slid up, looping around his neck.
You felt him exhale, a quiet little laugh against your temple. “See? You’re having fun.”
You rolled your eyes, but you were smiling. “Don’t let it go to your head, Rooster.”
He grinned, tilting his head slightly. “Too late.”
The warmth of him, the way his chest brushed yours with every slow step, the way his voice curled around your name when he murmured it just loud enough for you to hear. It all felt so natural and easy, like you’d been dancing with him forever instead of just minutes.
And when he made a dry teasing comment about one of the couples beside you, something about their awkward middle school dance stance you tipped your head back and laughed.
The sound must have done something to him because his hold on you tightened, just slightly. Just enough that you felt it. Just enough that you didn’t want to let go.
The song drifted into its final chords, but neither of you stepped away immediately. You were still close. Closer than you probably should have been considering this whole thing had started as an excuse to avoid bad small talk.
Bradley was looking at you, a lazy smirk tugging at his lips, like he knew exactly what he was doing. Like he knew you weren’t in a hurry to move either. But then the DJ switched back to something obnoxiously upbeat, and the spell broke.
Bradley exhaled, glancing around before leaning down slightly, speaking just loud enough for you to hear. “Alright. You wanna get out of here?”
You arched a brow, pretending to consider it. “Bradley Bradshaw, are you trying to take me home?”
His smirk widened. “Would it work?”
You scoffed, even as heat curled in your stomach. “Not a chance.”
He chuckled. “Good to know.” Then, with an easy shrug, he added, “I was thinking we could go do something actually fun.”
You tilted your head. “Oh yeah? Like what?”
“I don’t know yet. But I promise it’ll be better than this disaster.” He gestured around the bar where people were still fumbling their way through awkward conversations and stilted dances.
You eyed him, considering. “You do realize this is how horror movies start, right? Some girl follows a charming guy into the night, never to be seen again.”
Bradley placed a hand over his heart, feigning offense. “You wound me.”
You bit back a grin. “Shouldn’t you buy me dinner first?”
He didn’t miss a beat. “You hungry?”
You blinked. “…Are you serious?”
Bradley grinned. “Why not? We ditch this place, get some food, and actually enjoy the rest of the night.”
You should have said no. You should have come up with an excuse, played it safe, stuck to your original plan of going home alone.
But instead, you found yourself saying, “Alright, Bradshaw. You’ve got yourself a deal.”
His grin turned downright smug. “Knew you couldn’t resist.”
You rolled your eyes, but you let him take your hand anyway, following him toward the exit. Leaving behind the bad dates, the awkward glances, and the Valentine’s Day you thought you were going to have, and stepping into the one you never saw coming.
The bar door swung shut behind you, the cool night air a welcome contrast to the stuffy heat inside. You hadn’t realized how loud it was until now. It was so much easier to breathe out here.
Bradley, still holding your hand like it was the most natural thing in the world, shot you a look. “Alright, I’m thinking pizza. And not some fancy, sit down place. I mean real pizza.”
You smirked. “Define real pizza.”
His eyes glinted. “Late night counter service, greasy but perfect pizza.”
“…Go on.”
“There’s a spot a few blocks from here. Open late, no frills, just damn good food.”
You pretended to think about it, though your stomach had already made the decision for you. “Fine. But if it sucks, I’m never trusting you again.”
Bradley laughed, leading the way down the sidewalk. “That’s a lot of pressure, sweetheart.”
When you arrived after a short walk from the bar, the place was exactly as he’d described. A hole in the wall joint with neon signs buzzing faintly in the window and the unmistakable scent of fresh pizza wafting out the door.
Bradley let you step inside first, the warmth from the ovens immediately washing over you. The glass display case was lined with massive slices ready to grab and go.
“Alright,” he said scanning the selection. “You a toppings person, or are we keeping it classic?”
“Pepperoni,” you answered without hesitation.
His smile was approving. “Good choice.” He turned to the guy behind the counter. “Two slices of pepperoni, please.”
You arched a brow. “Two? What if I wanted two slices?”
Bradley gave you a look. “Trust me. You won’t want the second when you see the size of these.”
He wasn’t wrong.
A few minutes later, you were standing outside, each holding a massive, perfectly greasy slice, the warmth seeping into your fingers as you took your first bite.
You groaned. “Okay. Fine. You were right. This is really good pizza.”
Bradley grinned, chewing his own bite. “Told you.”
The street was quiet, save for the occasional car rolling by and the faint hum of city life in the distance. For a moment, you just stood there, eating in comfortable silence.
Then, Bradley wiped his fingers on a napkin and glanced over at you. “So.”
You swallowed your bite, eyeing him warily. “So.”
His smirk was lazy, unreadable. “Wanna head back to my place?”
You nearly choked. “Wow. Straight to the point, huh?”
Bradley laughed. “Not like that.” He gestured to the nearly empty street. “It’s still early. I figured we could keep hanging out…unless you’re dying to go home.”
You hesitated for a moment, considering the offer. It wasn’t that late, and you weren’t tired. And if you were being honest with yourself you didn’t really want to say goodnight yet.
“…Alright, Bradshaw,” you said, giving him a knowing look. And just like that, you found yourself following him into the night.
When you reached the curb, he gestured toward an old but well kept Bronco parked under the glow of a streetlamp. It suited him. It was rugged, classic, and also a little effortlessly cool.
You expected him to climb in first, but instead he reached for the passenger door, pulling it open.
You blinked, caught off guard. “Seriously?”
Bradley just shrugged, stepping back to give you space. “What? You think I don’t have manners?”
You narrowed your eyes playfully. “I don’t know. I just didn’t peg you as the door-opening type.”
His smirk was subtle but genuine. “Guess I like keeping you on your toes.”
Still eyeing him, you slid into the seat. The door shut with a solid thunk, and a moment later Bradley was rounding the hood and climbing in behind the wheel.
Bradley’s place was exactly what you would’ve expected. Laid back, a little old school, but effortlessly him. Warm lighting, a well-loved couch, a few framed photos on the walls, and a record player in the corner. It felt lived in, comfortable.
“You want a beer?” he asked as he tossed his keys onto the counter.
You nodded, stepping further inside. “Yeah, sure.”
Bradley grabbed two from the fridge, popping the caps off with practiced ease before handing one to you. You took a sip as he led you toward the couch, where he sank down with an easy sprawl.
You hesitated for half a second before sitting next to him, tucking your legs underneath you. The conversation picked up right where it had left off with music, movies, dumb things you’d both done as kids.
At some point you kicked off your shoes and stretched your legs out, your sock clad feet nudging his thigh. Bradley didn’t seem to mind. In fact, he absentmindedly rested a hand on your shin as he talked, fingers tracing lazy patterns against the fabric of your jeans.
You should’ve noticed it earlier. That shift, that subtle change in the air. Because somewhere between the teasing and the laughter, something had settled in the space between you. Something quieter. Heavier. Bradley’s fingers stilled against your leg, his gaze flicking to yours.
You swallowed. “What?”
He shook his head, his voice softer now. “Nothing.”
But it wasn’t nothing, and you both knew it. The air crackled, and before you could second guess it, you were shifting closer. Bradley’s hand slid up, palm skimming your knee before settling at your waist. His fingers curled there, warm and steady.
You weren’t sure who leaned in first, but suddenly, he was right there. His breath fanned across your lips, his eyes locked onto yours, searching.
And then he kissed you. It was slow at first, just the soft press of his lips against yours, like he was testing the waters. But when you didn’t pull away and you kissed him back,he deepened it, his hand tightening at your waist as he pulled you closer.
Your fingers found the back of his neck, threading into his hair, and he groaned low in his throat, a sound that sent heat curling through your stomach. By the time you finally broke apart, you were breathless.
Bradley rested his forehead against yours, his lips quirking. “So… I’m guessing you don’t regret leaving that singles event?”
You laughed, still catching your breath. “Not even a little bit.”
Bradley’s hands were still resting at your waist, warm and steady, as you hovered just inches from him. The air between you felt charged, humming with something unspoken but undeniable. You moved first, shifting onto your knees before slowly swinging a leg over his lap, settling yourself against him. Bradley inhaled sharply, his hands tightening their hold on you like he was still processing what was happening, like he needed a second to let himself feel you there.
“Yeah?” His voice was low, rough around the edges, his hands twitching slightly against your hips.
You nodded, fingers trailing up the back of his neck as you leaned in. “Yeah.”
That was all he needed.
His mouth met yours again, deeper this time, the hesitancy from before fading as he pulled you closer, molding you against him. Your fingers tangled in his hair, tugging lightly, and he let out a quiet groan that sent a shiver down your spine.
His hands, large and warm, traced slow circles at your waist before slipping under your shirt. His palms pressed against your bare skin, mapping their way up your sides, his touch reverent like he was savoring every inch of you.
He paused, giving you a chance to stop him, but you weren’t going anywhere. You lifted your arms, silently telling him to keep going, and Bradley took his time easing your shirt up and over your head, his eyes flickering over your newly exposed skin. His fingers followed the path of his gaze, tracing along your ribs, your back, your shoulders.
“Damn,” he murmured, almost to himself, before leaning in to kiss you again, slower this time, deeper, his lips moving with purpose as his hands roamed over you.
You shifted in his lap, pressing closer, and that was when something changed. His grip on you tightened, his fingers digging into your skin like he suddenly couldn’t get enough. His kisses turned hungrier, his breath heavier as he tilted his head, deepening the kiss until all you could do was melt into him.
You gasped as his mouth trailed along your jaw, then down the column of your throat, his lips and tongue leaving a heated path in their wake. His hands moved again, exploring more boldly now, and you arched into him, letting yourself feel everything. His touch, his warmth, the way he was unraveling right along with you.
Your fingers moved with growing urgency, skimming over Bradley’s shoulders as you tried to push off that damn ugly printed shirt. But the fabric bunched awkwardly at his arms, refusing to cooperate. Frustrated, you tugged harder, reaching for the undershirt beneath it too, wanting them both gone except now you were tangled in two layers of fabric, and nothing was coming off the way you wanted.
Bradley chuckled against your skin, his breath warm where his lips had been trailing along your collarbone.
“Impatient, huh?” His voice was teasing, but there was something deeper laced in it too, something thick with amusement and want.
You huffed, still struggling. “If you’d stop wearing so many damn layers—”
He cut you off with another quiet laugh before leaning back slightly. “Here,” he murmured, his hands covering yours, steadying them. “Let me help you out, sweetheart.”
Your stomach flipped at the easy way the endearment rolled off his tongue, but before you could dwell on it, Bradley took control. He shrugged out of the over shirt first, letting it drop to the floor before crossing his arms to pull the undershirt over his head in one smooth motion.
And damn.
Your breath hitched as you finally took him in. His broad shoulders, toned chest, the soft trail of hair leading down his stomach. His dog tags rested against his skin, catching the low light of the room, and for a moment, you just stared.
Bradley smirked, clearly enjoying your reaction. “Better?”
You didn’t answer. Not with words, anyway. Instead, you leaned in, hands splaying against his bare chest as you kissed him again, slow and deep, making sure he felt exactly how much you appreciated the view.
Bradley groaned against your lips, his hands sliding back to your waist before gripping your hips firmly, grounding you against him. The kiss deepened, turning messier, more desperate, and when you rolled your hips just slightly, testing the friction, that was when he lost the last bit of his restraint.
His grip tightened, his breath shuddering against your mouth. “You’re playing with fire, sweetheart.”
You smirked. “Maybe I like the heat.”
His eyes darkened, his jaw tightening for half a second before he suddenly moved, flipping you onto your back on the couch in one swift motion.
You barely had time to gasp before he was hovering over you, his body warm and solid against yours. His lips found your neck again, his hands roaming over newly exposed skin, and suddenly, you weren’t the one in control anymore.
And you definitely didn’t mind.
Bradley’s hands moved with deliberate slowness, fingers grazing over your hips before settling at the waistband of your jeans. His eyes flicked up to yours, silently asking for permission. When you nodded, he made quick work of the button and zipper, his fingers brushing over your skin as he tugged them down your legs, leaving you in just your underwear.
He leaned back slightly, his gaze raking over you, dark and unreadable for a moment. Then, a slow smirk tugged at his lips. His voice was rougher now, lower, as he shook his head. “You’re even prettier than I imagined.”
Your breath hitched, warmth spreading through your chest at his words, at the way he was looking at you like he wanted to devour you.
Then, before you could think of a response, he dipped his head, pressing his lips to the base of your throat. His mouth was warm, his kisses slow and reverent as he made his way down, lingering at the delicate skin along your collarbone, then lower, teasing over your ribs before his hands found your thighs.
He shifted, lowering himself onto the floor in front of the couch, his large, rough palms pressing against your inner thighs as he spread them apart. The contrast between his calloused hands and the soft skin of your legs sent a shiver up your spine.
Bradley’s breath was warm against your skin, sending a shiver down your spine as his mouth trailed lower until it hovered just above the place you ached for him most. His grip on your thighs tightened, thumbs stroking slow, lazy circles into your skin as if savoring the anticipation.
“Still with me?” he murmured, his voice husky, teasing.
You let out a shaky breath, your fingers sinking into his thick curls, tugging just enough to earn a soft groan from him. “Bradley—”
His lips curved against your hipbone. “That’s all I needed to hear.”
A slow, unrelenting press of his mouth, a sound of satisfaction rumbling low in his throat as he pulled you closer, as your world narrowed to nothing but the feeling of him, the steady, torturous rhythm of his hands and lips unraveling you piece by piece.
The last coherent thought you had before everything melted into sensation was that you’d never look at him the same way again.

TGCF characters rated by how much I’d want to go out to the club with them
Xie Lian: Either he’s the designated driver and drinks waters and barely hangs out with me and just sits at the bar sexting his boyfriend, or he gets incredibly drunk and cries and throws up on me in the bathroom. 4/10
Hua Cheng: I actually think he’d be alright, like we could chat and dance a lil and he’d have like 1-2 drinks which is fine, same here. He’s also sexting his boyfriend but i can ignore it. 7/10
Mu Qing: He’s not a fun drunk and he’d complain about the noise and just sit at the bar the whole time. And he’d be rude about it. 2/10
Feng Xin: I don’t trust him to not throw up on me. Plus being in a close proximity to a lot of women might send him into a panic attack and hide in the bathroom. 1/10
Qi Rong: Objectively this would be a terrible experience. Not only is he drunk before we get there, he’s doing coke in the bathroom, he’s getting into fights and gets kicked out and likely arrested. I just want to be there for this. 8/10
He Xuan: He’s a miserable drunk and just sits at some table eating wings all night. If i go and ask him to come and dance he’d just shrug and keep playing sudoku on his phone. But if i asked him to be the designated driver he’d actually drive me and be sober so. 2/10
Shi Qingxuan: They would actually be willing to have fun with me. They might sneak off to do coke in the bathroom but it’s only once and it’s very lowkey so no drama. A delight to be around in general. 10/10
Shi Wudu: I’d hate to hang out with him but he’s paying for me so. 5/10
Pei Ming: He’s ditching me immediately to hook up with some chick in the bathrooms and then leaves with another. 1/10
Ling Wen: I really think she needs this. She might cry on me a bit once she starts drinking but it’s worth it for her sanity. 3/10
Lang Qianqiu: It’s fine for the first hour but then he starts getting uppity about being sober and then he starts getting into fights with people and like they probably deserved it but cmon man. Fantastic designated driver tho. 4/10
Ban Yue: I think she’s like 13 she can’t come. 0/10
Pie Xiu: I don’t want to hang out with him. 2/10
Yushi Huang: She would not agree to go. 0/10

As unbothered as Vox was intentioned on being by the others absence.. it was easier said than done. He exhibited very similar possessive and clingy behavior when it was just him and Valentino. But he had Valentino under at least a semi restrictive contract that gave him so semblance of control.
Alastor and him had no such thing- even this contract was thin and frail at best. He had the favorable end- but it was hasty and verbal. A far cry from the level of exhaustive and documented his usual contracts were.
Even if it had been. It wouldn’t last- it was nuanced. Situational.
It only took a few minutes beyond Alastor’s absence for the sensation in his throat to make eating feel wholly uncomfortable.
He let out a very loud groan and put the mostly empty rice and teriyaki dish to the side and stood. Still naked other than the towel around his waist now, he started pacing to give himself a secret paranoid pep talk. He had a few minutes,
“relaaaxrelaxrelaxrelax.” Vox muttered to himself and walked over to pick up the cigarettes Alastor had brought with him. God he really was a high maintenance bitch now. He didn’t regret it. He deserved all the nice shit he worked for. But he didn’t often leave his secure tower. And he hadn’t left for more than a day in…. since a certain party disappeared.
Vox was left blinking through that accidental realization but shook it off- putting a smoking cigarette in his mouth as he started pacing again.
“It’s ten minutes. Don’t f’ckin wet yourself over ten goddamn minutes.” He chastised himself as he exhaled a large dense cloud and pushed his hair back with his one hand. It ruined Alastor’s careful laying of his hair- but it did fall much more classically how his colic usually held it. The red swoop proudly in a bright arch.
“Pull it together. You’re lagging. At least we’re staying in the city from here on. So less.. nature… inclined.. issues.” He added to himself. Then took another heavy nicotine drag as he paced. Fuck he was sick of not having clothes.
Muttering further he moved over to the phone and rudely got some en route to this room pronto with a laundromat service. By the time they got here Alastor would be back from his super secret desk trip and they could clean all their clothes.
It only took another five or so minutes for them to get here- but Alastor still wasn’t back yet. They were not that far away from the front desk. It was right outside the elevator. Well a few paces from it but that was splitting hairs. They weren’t literally ten minutes to the desk. He had assumed he was just rounding- being generous. Where the fuck had he gone??
Vox shoved his clothes onto the more than polite staff and nearly ripped his head off for not leaving immediately. A perfectly pleasant client for sure.
Vox was alone again and pacing a bit more fervently. He allowed his head to conjure up a what if scenario in which Alastor didn’t come back. He would be unaffected he decided.
Then he paused again and rolled his eyes at himself and dropped the whole thought train.
He was coming back. It hadn’t even BEEN ten minutes yet.
“Relax.” Vox said with more finality and reached the bed, just to flop down onto it. Staring up at the ceiling, and exhaling another cloud. He would have killed for a phone. For service. It had been two nights now. Was Voxtek okay??
He heard footsteps and sat up like a shot. Then quickly pulled another dish closer so it looked like he had been largely unbothered- instead of pacing like a stuck rat.
The interest didn’t last though when his eyes landed on the bag that he hastily picked up.
“You were buying weed?? Why didn’t you tell me! I could have gotten other things!” He dragged his hand down his face but did pull his cigarette out of his mouth, and started deconstructing it to get the paper. His chance to get other things- wasted. Maybe he could ‘run down to the desk’ himself when Alastor was asleep.
Vox gave a subtle side eye like Alastor broke some kind of bro code by voicing the withdrawal symptoms. It wasn’t that obvious…
“Laundromat is cleaning my clothes.” He said while he got busy rolling the fine powder into the paper.
“Mm.” Vox said with a smarmy growing smirk. Like he was nearly bragging about not mentioning the bayou incident again.
The smirk was short lived however because him biting his tongue seemed to not be as effective in regards to his abrupt and residual clinginess.
His mouth dropped back down to a shape that funny enough translated perfectly from tv screen to human face. A scrunched up sulking line pushed into his left cheek.
“What the fuck are you picking up right now that can’t just be fucking brought up here.”
He glanced away from his own food finally when Alastor took his bait,
“You told me to eat. With you gone I won’t be interrupted.~ I’ll just eat the rest and yours too.” He teased further putting another bite in his mouth.
Vox’s expression pulled right back into smirking as he watched the other start to eat much faster. He puffed a small snort of amusement through his nose— and then it went right back to a funny type of distress as Alastor did in fact finish his food faster than expected and was already up and fucking speed walking to his clothes and got dressed.
He chose not to say anything anyway. Having spouted enough sappy clingy bullshit for the next several years in his opinion.
When the other approached him again, he put on his best unaffected face and glanced up at him while chewing. Only to be taken by the face and smooched on the cheek.
His pale skin did him no favors- even after scalding it with boiling water- and immediately flushed a deep pink,
Vox scoffed loudly and planted his hand on Alastor’s chest and shoved at him.
“Alright alriGHT—“ he complained through his mouthful.
“Go get your f’kn secret drugs or some shit.” He wiped at his mouth with the back of his wrist- not quite ‘wiping the kiss off’, but needing to regain some decorum.
The bright cyan eyes glancing back up to Alastor surrounded in the patchy pink flush, then looking away, and ultimately back to his food. One could only imagine the little twitchy sparkle show his antenna would be having if they were present.
“Take the scenic route.” He added under his breath, with no real amount of vitriol or real conviction… because no one would be calling him clingy.

Part 6
Fainting was a weird sensation. It´s like when you stood up really fast and you get dizzy, except instead of going away the dizzines just makes you fall to the ground and hit your head.
It was the waking up part that was higly confusing. Mainly because the first thing you saw was a yellow-orangey creature.
"AHHHHH" Yeah, probably the whole neighborhood heard you scream.
And then you heard multiple voices at the same time from which what you understod was: "Hey, there´s no need to scream" from what sounded like a child, "You´re not dead!" from an older child, "This one is weird, she is silent and then loud" that sounded like a grown ass adult. And there was also Ozzy barking.
"Okay everybody, move aside, give her some space" Now that voice you did recognize, that was your aunt Maddie.
Only when she sat next to you did you register that you were laying in the couch. How long had it been?
"Hey sweetie" She started as she gently laid her hand on your arm as though you were a scared animal that would run off at any moment. "I´m sorry this all came as a surprise to you, we didn´t mean to..."
"I´M BACK, WHO SCREAMED?" Tom interrupted her as he appeared out of nowhere, or maybe he had come from upstairs, you didn´t know, you were sooo confused.
"What happened? And why is there a blue hedghog here?"
"We were going to tell you, but then you showed up with Shadow and we didn´t want to..." Once again your aunt was interrupted.
"Hi! I´m Sonic! Your super awesome cousin you didn´t know you had" The hedgehog practically screamed on your face.
"I´m sorry, did you just say cousin?" You asked at him, but you didn´t even let him speak as you turned towards your uncle "Is this why you said kids? Are these... things..."
"Rude" Said, well, Sonic, you guessed.
"...Your kids? And you didn´t tell me?" You couldn´t quite tell if you were feeling offended or confused, there was a sort of thightness on your chest, as if you were hugely overlooking a very important detail.
"Why did you not tell me? And why are there so many of them? What, do you collect them like fucking pokemons or something?" Now you did know what you were feeling.
Angry, hot with anger. You could feel it in every vein on your body, your eyes couldn´t focus on anything, until you found a victim, still sitting right at your side.
"I asked you for help! I thought he was dying and you didn´t even think about telling me that you had seen others like him?!" you screamed at your aunt Maddie as you got up from the couch.
"I didn´t know what to do, he is dangerous!" She quipped right back.
"That´s not your call to make, I would have handled it if you had said something" that was probably one of the first times in your life you had disagreed with your aunt.
Shadow wasn´t dangerous. Sure, he was hurt and he didn´t really trust you, but that didn´t make him dangerous.
"HE TRIED TO KILL TOM!"
...
...
"What?"
Your voice had came out so low you weren´t sure the words had actually left your mouth at all.
"He did, that´s why he has a broken arm" Maddie explained as she grabbed your hands on hers.
"But he´s not bad..."
"He has the ability to be..." she stated as if it was an unmistakable truth.
"Maddie that´s enough, we talked about this" Finally Tom approached the two of you, he put his working arm in between you and stared sternly at his wife. Yet she kept looking at you in your eyes.
"But it doesn´t matter anymore, he´s gone" She tried to smile reassuringly.
"What?" Suddenly the hold on your hands felt restrictive "What do you mean? What did you do?!" you ripped your hands of of hers.
"I-I, nothing, I didn´t do nothing, he was gone when I went looking for you" She seemed shocked at your harsh reaction.
Dread filled your entire body, it had drenched you in an awful way, freezing you from head to toes. A sound left your lips, it wasn´t quite a word, more like a strained gasp.
And the you ran.
You didn´t hear your aunt calling for you as you left the house, or the little yellow fox asking "What is going on?", all you could be aware of was the blood pumping through your legs and your heart beating wildly in your chest. There was a ringing in your ears too, that damned type of ringing that appears when the world is too quiet.
The run to your house felt awfully longer than the walk you had taken that morning, and once you finally arrived your brain was working too fast, trying to focus on everything at once.
From afar the house had looked normal, but the door was open, the lock busted. Your heart had left your chest altogether and was then beating on your throat.
You walked in slowly, the speed you had taken on the run dead as you had stepped on the welcome mat. A voice came from the living room, so you went there first.
The wooden floor creaked with every step you took, and anticipation built in your chest. But there was no one there, only the TV on, broadcasting a Mexican novela.
With every second you gained speed as you ran all the way to the bedroom you were staying in, the one Shadow had taken as his own while he healed.
The bed was neatly done and everything was on place, except the window, which was wide open
"SHADOW! SHADOW WERE ARE YOU?!" you screamed through the window, looking for signs of him on the backyard.
Something warm dripped onto your hand, and, as you touched your face trying to figure out were the liquid had came from, you felt traces of tears painting your cheeks.
You kept calling out his name as you searched around the house, your voice growing weaker and more broken as you didn't find him.
Finally you reached the living room once again, and you collapsed on the couch. You tried to hold your hands together so that they wouldn't shake.
A creak sounded from the window behind you; you turned around.
There he was standing, looking straight at your eyes with his usual frown. He exchanged looks with you for a few seconds and when you finally moved he was too confused as to move.
You jumped over the couch and hugged him. The hard floor digged onto your knees and your body felt tired, but he was alright which was what mattered.
"Where where you?" You questioned him.
"A woman came by, I did what you told me, I hid". His frown looked almost concerned then, as if he was worried he had done something wrong.
"Yes, you did well" You laughed and broke the hug, choosing to keep your hands on his shoulders instead "Maybe a little too well".
"I'm..."
"The ultimate life form? Yeah, yeah, I know"
"No, I'm... Sorry, that I worried you" he stared at the ground.
You almost choked on a sob at his words.
"It's okay, I was just worried you were hurt, there's nothing to apologize for sweetie" you explained as you held his face in your hands.
What a twist your life had taken.
