I love Monster Sanctuary

Been struggling for hours to 5-star some of the tougher bosses and I've finally made a breakthrough via tossing a penguin, a spider in a Halloween costume, and someone's fursona with a knife at said bosses until they die

So I started a new save file on Legends: Arceus yesterday, and honestly, it really is the better Sinnoh remake between it and BDSP

Well I mean, it technically isn’t a remake, if anything it’s more like a remix in a new time setting, but you get what I mean

🤣 I'm sorry in advance, this might not be as great a story as I maybe made it sound in the tags.

So there's a game I have played for...ages: Sid Meier's Pirates! (Yes, the exclamation point is part of the title.) I had a copy of it growing up and was kind of obsessed with it, so when I found it on Steam, I snapped it up, especially since it was only $3. (<i>And</i> it's exactly the same game I played as a kid, which apparently irritated a lot of people who thought they should've got something new and shiny for it being on Steam, but I wanted to play the game exactly the way it was, plus, seriously, people, it was $3, what did you expect? Anyway.)

The story is pretty straightforward. A family that's been under the thumb of a cruel Marquis for years is finally about to get free, as soon as the fleet arrives in port, and they're celebrating - only for the Marquis to burst in and inform them that the ships have sunk, the family's fortunes are lost, and the payment is due. He takes all of the family prisoner, but the young son of the family manages to escape. That's your character.

Ten years later, you show up at an inn looking for work on a ship - you pick whether you want to be English, Spanish, Dutch, or French, but it doesn't <i>really</i> matter in the long run unless you want it to - sign your name to the manifest, and set out on a ship for the Caribbean. The captain is cruel and merciless, eventually pushes the crew too far, and they mutiny. You defeat the captain (it's all in a cut scene) and become the captain. From there on out, the game is up to you. You can attack and plunder ships, defeat pirates, flirt with the daughters of the various governors of the colonies (and eventually marry one if you get your romance scores up high enough), and trade in ports. Over it all is the Baron Raymundo, who has information about your family; you defeat him a certain number of times and get map fragments that lead you one by one to your relatives (your sister, your uncle, your aunt, and your grandfather...I think, I've only made it past the uncle once and it's been a while), and then once you've rescued each one, they tell you where to find the Marquis. Once you find him on his ship and defeat him in battle, he dives overboard and you get part of a map that, once you have all four parts, tells you where his hideout is so you can defeat him once and for all.

So...yeah, the last game I started, I named my pirate Jonathan Sims. His flagship - right now - is named The Archives, he's defeated four of the most notorious pirates in the Caribbean, and he is still trying to find the Baron Raymundo for the first time. Unsurprisingly, he's a bit of a disaster.

Sentient Mystery Shack, who is really biased towards Stan, so when Ford tells Stan he has to give it back after the summer it’s on sight.

Ford keeps tripping over nothing, nothing is where it's supposed to be and somehow he keeps running into closets when he tries to go outside.

But the worst part, the WORST part is that Ford's lightbulb just won't. Work. No matter what he does it keeps flickering and exploding.

Ford is spiraling. 

There is no reason why it shoudln’t work. All his trial runs work perfectly. He’s already checked the Shacks wiring three times and relearned this dimensions science from the ground up. 

Nothing works.

The Rift? Bill? The impending apocalypse? Eating? Sleep? Who cares about that. 

WHY. WONT. THE. LIGHTBULB. WORK???

It doesn’t help that Stan keeps laughing at him.

“Then you do it!” Ford eventually snaps at Stan.

Stan shrugs and with a little song under his breath screws his own lightbulb in. It works perfectly.

Stanford screams.
