My comic is so pretty...
The hiatus is letting me take a little extra time on these episodes, and I'm definitely putting it to good use!!!
#almost done with my 8th episode... which will give me. two weeks. of buffer...#id really like at LEAST a month... but to be more comfortable id like two#which means 2-6 more episodes before I come back!#I've got about 7 weeks so its possible. but i do still have to finish book 4#so much to do ..........#I decided for my next comic im doing 3 updates a month.#having 10 days instead of 7 to make an episode is such a huge huge huge difference...#difference in quality and in my health!#anyways the comic is really pretty im really happy with the work im doing rn#the environments especially. im getting to spend a nice amount of time on them and theyre turning out so nicely#its nice to be able to write with a lot of different environments and not have to redo panels when I get to them cause of time#cause every time theres a wild angle? you need a new background...#so sometimes. often actually. there just isnt the time to make the backgrounds for those and i have to make them more flat...#which is fine. it doesnt really affect anything narratively. but. idk. it's kinda sad right?#anyways yeah! 10 days will be much better.#36 episodes a year is about what ive been uploading with my hiatuses on the weekly schedule anyways!#so might as well cut out that super stressful middleman and just commit to that#52 a year is just such a huge difference and i have to accept its not possible to me#i will hurt myself trying to do that. and i want to make comics my whole life!#so i cant push myself that hard now and sacrifice my future. we're gonna go slower after this...#anyways yeah cant wait to come back but also time. if I could get an extra week like a secret one just for me#where theres no chores no nothin just me and my work#thatd be great! so go ahead and do what you gotta do to give me a little pocket dimension#me: ugh i want to return right now...#the more logical me: NO we need the time to finish everything!!!!!! Imagine you're Phoenix Wright and you have black hair and beautiful dark eyes and you can pull off the color red so, so well, but your queer-coded rival chose the color red as his signature color years ago without checking with you first (even though he's really more of a spring and would look so much better in mauve or periwinkle, but you don't think he's ready for that conversation) so now you can't even wear the color red without accidentally symbolizing a narrative shift where you've begun to agree with his point of view (which, ew, you would never!) so you just have to grit your teeth and wear your stupid navy suit, which kind of washes you out but WHATEVER it's FINE and you're not bitter about it AT ALL!!!!

WHEW! Here it is! My favorite shots from over the year, one for each month (or... close enough!) I love putting these together it's such a fun way to look back and I'm always stunned at what I was up to at the start of the year. Odette started the year surrounded by friends and she ended the year surrounded by friends! How lucky is she. I almost had enough Skeleton shots for the first six months of the year, but then I got to March and actually gasped when I remembered how we all played Mermaids together! That was such a fun time!! Man, I have so much fun taking my little screenshots!!! It has led me to some of my favorite people!! I'm so grateful I still love this hobby and screenshots.

This year I had more than enough shots to do a second Gpose Wrapped (and then some) featuring my friends' OCs! That's wild!! These aren't in any particular order and one of them never made it to Tumblr. But I had so much fun making these and sharing them with my friends!! Thank you to the people who reached out and traded with me! Next year I want to be brave enough to do more shots with friends. Brave enough to ask, brave enough to brainstorm them, braver!!! Neynari's parents and Se'txelu/Rolukx's parents, respectively. I've sketched concepts for these characters before, but it's been two years and they were sorely in need of updates. So here's updated concepts!
#oeyä ayskxawngtsyìp#given some of the NPC designs in afop: artificial hair coloring as a fashion seems to be canon for the western frontier clans#(i assume it's artificial coloring and not natural variation because the little tuft on the tailtips is always standard black#even when the head hair is red/brown/blonde)#(and also you can unlock greenish and purplish hues for the player character's hair)#ANYWAYS yeah that said i imagine Seylana started coloring her hair blonde after Neynari was born#to match her daughter :)#vontxu has a bit of an unsettling demeanor but i promise he's actually a nice guy lol#just not always great at expressing himself#tanu's scars come from a near-fatal hunting accident he was involved in when rolukx and se'txelu were young#as you can see he did survive and is fine now...but it was a close call#lunaya wears an absolutely ridiculous amount of hair beads and yes they do all make clicky clacky noises every time she shifts even an inch#might clean/color these eventually (or draw new ones to clean/color) but. we'll see#i do want to do at least one colored doodle of seylana and young!neynari just for the hair color thing#but when will i do that? who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯#could be this weekend. could be next year ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ we'll see#my art

It seems to be pretty well established that most fanfic authors don’t mind when readers leave comments on old fics and in fact welcome it. But what about authors replying to old comments?
Do readers care in general whether an author replies? Is it expected and seen as rude if they don’t? Is it nice when they do but not expected? Is there a time limit to the welcomeness of replies? Like is it nice if they respond within a few weeks but if it’s been months or years it feels awkward because you don’t remember the fic anymore? I’m curious!
#basically I have let my ao3 inbox accumulate like 1600 comments#and I am wondering what to do about it lol#historically I was very good about responding to comment bc it’s important to me that my readers feel appreciated#cause genuinely I’m so grateful that they took the time to read and especially to comment! most don’t so it means a lot when they do!#but then I went through a very long phase where I was too lazy/overwhelmed/tired to reply to comments#so I just stopped doing it except for occasionally when I had energy or when a comment was particularly detailed/heartfelt#I always felt bad about it and wanted to eventually catch up again#but now I’ve let it build so much that it’s overwhelming and it’s been so long that it’s awkward lol#and every reply would need to begin with an apology and explanation#but anyway. I was thinking I’d at least like to respond to comment on particular fics#or that are within a certain threshold of time#or that are more thoughtful#but idk#just curious what the vibe is#personally I don’t expect authors to respond to me but it always feels nice when they do#especially if it’s a comment I put a lot of thought/energy into#and I think I’d be pleased to hear back even if it had been years#I might feel a little awkward if I don’t remember the fic lol#but it also could be nice to jog my memory and go ah yes that was a nice time!#haha#anyway#mine#polls

This 4th of July I’m stealing the patriotism euphoria that’s usually associated with assholes idolizing the worst attributes of this country because fuck ‘em I live here too and remembering the things this country actually got Right is an important exercise when trying to rally anyone to want to defend it in November SO putting my money where my mouth is I’ll start easy and say I really like National Parks!! It’s rad how many of them there are and how they’re actual set up to preserve some of the most beautiful wild areas in our country while still letting people visit to enjoy and experience nature!! (Less important but I love how they put national parks on the quarters I think that’s real fun)

#The hypothesis I’m testing here is that remembering there are good things now and then can combat apathy a little bit#and this is the one day of the year where everyone has a free pass to say nice things about the US so!#some other fun freebies:#public libraries are really cool!! Love visiting them and I should do that way more#bit of a funnier one but I think our interstate highways are really nice#like I’d love trains too but it’s really cool how you can travel the whole country relatively easily like it’s all pretty connected#I love how women have equal rights! We’re backsliding a little right now which is why it’s so important to latch onto this now!#I love how we don’t have a draft- this one might point to some other issues in the country#but at least from a surface level it’s great that military service isn’t mandatory#If you aren’t in the US and still want to play go for it!#today I’m encouraging everyone to pick at least one little positive thing they like#and then down the line if you’re wondering why voting matters at all#maybe remember that little thing y’know#Do it for the national parks and the libraries and gay marriage and stuff#humming-rambles#anyways that’s my social experiment for the day hope y’all get to see some fun fireworks later!

Bam bing bong, summary of my doodles in 2024
#what a year#ive never compiled it neatly before#i was gonna wait it out cuz i havent finish my Christmas pieces yet but im also like ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh fuck it so yeah hehe#this year I’ve expanded my socials to bluesky and instagram#I’ve always did two collabs this year which is still wild to me (im planning to do more next year hopefully)#(if my social anxiety can just get over it)#in tappy’s voice: gomz no balls#i also need to do more color piece#launching ☕️ this year has helped to do that#to do at least one colored piece each month#i have a video of me going thru my doodles from January to December in the works but i think i might not able to finish it on time#we’ll see#still gotto tackle the last few ☕️ requests after con#this year I’ve drawn a lot more Price!! that’s why he’s the main character this year#i would put Raven but she’s always a main so#im really happy to have found a nice chibi style and stick with it#consistency is always a struggle for me esp with my non chibi style#some of what i drew this year was awful HDJSHSHS but its nice seeing progress#December suit Price is my proudest non-chibi work and I wish to continue that style next year#moving forward I want to continue to improve and do better but also take it easy#burnt myself out too many times this year due to drawing nearly every day + stress + uni#stress management plan is needed but i SUCK at it#me as a pharmacy student counselling patients [it is important to try to relax and manage stress properly]#what a joke JDJDHDHHD#at least my blood pressure readings stabilized finally on gawd it was on the borders for a few months#it’s been a fun year and I’ve made a lot of new friends too#drabbled in a few fandom and community here and there#thank you for having me everyone :)#gummmyart#art summary 2024

#zeno's art#ocs#minty#soulstice circus#halloween#this piece was honestly SO MUCH FUN!!! there was a bit of turbulence but in the end i'm very proud of it#i've got values down well now so they weren't a big problem but halfway through i ended up changing a lot of the colors#because i wanted a more blue and pink look than purple and pink#but it worked out well#i also wanted to do a different angle which went nicely#in the end my favorite parts of the piece are his hair + stockings#as well as the cityscape (especially the streetlight which was added in spontaneously) and the pumpkitties!#this is also a redraw of a piece from around this time last year - i might post that in a seperate post as well#ok i'm writing all this on the 18th now - this should reach you on halloween night!
