sumire IS a walking ITF (international tennis federation) handbook. for reasons i will elaborate on in futchure fic/art! but she takes tennis very VERY seriously. (goro also takes it VERY seriously and akira takes it seriously.)

goro lets sumire call him by his first name abt 3 months into training w her at the academy (with him and akira its like within the first match bc theyre already at eachothers throats LMAO) after her landslide victory! thats when he kinda acknowledges her as a teammate i guess? beforehand they were just hitting partners

anyway the idea of "teammate" in competitive, individual, professional tennis is very fun and interesting to me as u can tell. LMAO. and like "what makes a Friend" versus A Teammate in terms of pro athletics

goro gets embarrassed when akira lets sumire sleep in their room not because of the actual fact of her sleeping there but because he doesn't WANT her to see him with his guard down. she always sees him on the court, ready to conquer his opponents, top-notch quality tennis, etc so he's mortified that she saw him Like that (just woken up LOL) though ofc she doesnt think anythign of it bc shes just like yayyyy tennis yayyy

and man yeah I was writing that chapter and got so into writing emduo. I've definitely gotten a lot more confident writing techno over the years but I still wouldn't say my characterization of him is the best or anything. however, I do like to think I do a pretty solid job especially with the humor. I've seen so many sbi fics make him the serious one which makes zero sense considering c!techno is basically the looney tunes character of dsmp 😭 he's constantly cracking jokes so I love including that in fics. i really like games that feel like they have their very own ecosystem!! rainworld is a really good showing of mobs interacting with each other and doing their own thing to live their lives, and i think that that would be really cool to add into minecraft!

not just with animals either, i think that villagers, illagers, and witches should all feel like they have their own lives and that they do things when youre not around. right now, all they really do is wander around. wolves chase skeletons and sheep eat grass, but we could have so much more than that!!

imagine if they all had their own schedules and preferences that were made clear by their behavior! ill start this example off with the chicken. what better way to start off with than...

A REDESIGN!!

now, you may be looking at that and thinking "hey now, mek. not ALL chickens look like that" and you would be RIGHT! of course, there would be over variants of this chicken (different breeds, if you will) that you would find in other areas; each would have their own behavioral trends, but thats not what im referring to.

what i am getting at is them all having different little cosmetic differences that make them more easily distinguishable, for instance:

9 different comb variations! (even bald rep!)

9 different wattles!! (look at them, so majestic!!)

8 different tail feathers!!! (do not pluck!!!)

do you know what that means?? that means there would be a whole... uh... one second

you know how to any random joe schmoe, a pile of chickens is a pile of chickens, but to Farmer Dale, thats Chirp, Chooch, Chiki, Cha-Cha, and Char all ganging up on Cheery? now (if you care to) you can be the farmer who can tell all their chickens apart, even without a nametag!

"but mek," i hear you ask, "why do i care which chicken is which? theyre all the same!!" well, first off, they arent in my heart. you may jot that down if you please. secondly, NOT ANYMORE THEYRE NOT!!

MECHANICS

my current plan is to give each mob 3 core stats that it can vary from other mobs of its variant in. of course, other variants of the same mob would probably have different base stats of course, but lets keep it simpler for now. some examples of base stats could be as follows:

cows could vary in hearts, protectiveness, and milkiness. sheep could vary in hearts, wooliness, and coziness. pigs could vary in hearts, comfy pose, and inquisitiveness.

and chickens? well, heres what im workin on so far:

EGGINESS - by default we can change it so that chickens generally pop an egg out every day as the average. we can even make it so that its about once every 10 minutes if you go to sleep on time every night. (oooh, interesting)

TIDINESS - increases the amount the chicken will set aside a little self-care time. the average can be around twice a day. why is this important? well, because when a chicken preens itself, it heals whatever damage its taken and drops a feather!! (finally, a reliable way to get them without hurting them!)

BROODINESS - broodiness is a new status a chicken can be in that has a chance of happening every full moon, lets say around a 5% chance. if the chicken does become broody, then itll hang around its nest more, produce more eggs, and become territorial. coming by to take a broody chickens eggs may get you a peck or two!! it might be best to be a little more careful until the new moon comes around and it calms down.

now, there were some things in that list that seem to hint to other mechanics. ill go more into their behavior now:

chickens generally spend most of their time either pecking around in the grass for seeds, nesting, perching, preening or interacting with other chickens. which action they will default to depends on the time of day. these can be generally split into time they are foraging, nesting, perching, and doing social things.

FORAGING - a wandering state. chickens will walk around and peck the ground every so often, eating seeds or bugs or whatever. there is a small chance of chickens leaving biome specific seeds (foreshadowing) around whenever they peck/scratch at the ground.

NESTING - most often done in the morning and evening, if the chicken has a nest claimed the chicken will go to its nest and relax. it will alternate every so often between sleeping, preening, maintaining their nest, and wandering around a small area around their nest. if the chicken does NOT have a nest claimed, it will choose a nearby one. if there is no nest nearby, it will either start making one or skip to the perching state. a chicken deciding to make a new nest will search for a suitable spot, prioritizing elevation, cover, and specific adjacent blocks. (i do also plan on making it so you can make nests for them/move them with silk touch)

PERCHING - while perching, chickens will seek a "comfy" spot to sit. "comfy" spots are dependent on the weather. if it's sunny, a comfy spot is an high up spot that is exposed to sunlight. if its cloudy, it is just a high up spot. if its rainy, the chick en prioritizes cover. if its snowy, it will prioritize cover near other chickens, foliage, or a light source for warmth.

SOCIALIZING - chickens will seek out other chickens, and sometimes other mobs or even players, and exhibit one of a few different behaviors; these include clucking at them, preening them, and following them around.

what do you think? this is all a work in progress, and i have more ideas for interactions chickens could possibly have with other mobs, but this is what ive got so far. i dont want to make anything TOO complicated, but i think this feels pretty nice and makes the chickens feel... well, like theyre actual chickens!!

this is always a tough one, i was in a pretty similar situation when i was in high school. i know a lot of people will say like "you never know until you try, the people who love you might surprise you!" but personally ive always found that to be somewhat shallow advice. you know the people in your life better than randos ever will, so above anything else i would say to go with your gut here. if it tells you that coming out now wouldnt be safe, then unfortunately i think it probably would be in your best interests to just keep your head down until youre able to set up a life and support system outside of them, so that if things do break bad it doesn't fuck you over.

that being said, that doesn't mean you have to bottle it all up either, nor does that mean all hope is lost for having a relationship with those people afterwards.

first, try to seek out others like you in your life right now. im not sure how old you are but most of the people who've reached out from the quiz have been high schoolers so i'm going off that assumption, if you are in high school i would see if your school has a GSA you could join, or if that wouldnt be a possibility bc ur parents wouldnt let you go then you could try reaching out to the teacher that runs it to see if they have any advice or could help you connect with other queer kids outside of the club. if you can't do that then you may still be able to connect, i know the stereotypes abt people "looking gay" are shit but there are also legitimately queer style choices that people make on purpose because they want to look queer (myself included), and while openly saying "hey you look gay lets be friends" would suck, ill let you on on the secret code to tell queer strangers you recognize their vibes: "omg i love your hair". and obviously randos can give that compliment too but im being 100% serious when i say that if that comment comes from Another Queer and is said in the "im gay too please notice me" way, it hits different, idk how to explain lmao. or "i like your pins" if they have pride stuff. really it's just you pointing out the Thing that made you go "you seem like me," and then complimenting it to show the other person youre cool with that stuff. and obv follow the other persons vibes, if theyre just like "oh thanks" and then turn back around then just move on w ur day, but if theyre like "omg i love your hair too!" then *hacker voice* youre in

anyways on to the second part which is all hope is not lost:

you may not be able to come out to these people now, BUT you may be able to start laying the groundwork to do it further down the line. i'm not saying start religious/political arguments, obv do whatever you need to stay safe, but you can start just. nudging them in the right direction. like say your parents are ranting about something right on the line of anger abt queerness, like a guy wearing eyeliner or w/e, you could drop a noncommital "eh i think it looks cool but i get it" or "i mean its kinda just facepaint when you think abt it tho right?" or another example i cant think of right now to just kind of. push the needle a little bit. and with this kind of thing it's very important you dont go into it expecting immediate change, like. this is you planting the seeds so that in six months when theyre trying to fall asleep theyll be like "....huh. i guess it kinda is just like facepaint, so. why is facepaint ok for men but makeup isnt" yknow? so if you go into it with that being the expectation, the things you say hopefully wont register as confrontational or disagreeing, but just as like. the noncommital hand wiggle gesture. it can take a long time for ideas to take root in people so it makes convos much easier when you remind yourself not to expect immediate change

now obviously your mileage may vary, if you think even that would be too dangerous then absolutely feel free to disregard and just do your best not to let the things they say get to you. and either way remember that you WILL have your own life away from them someday where you get to be yourself, and it is never ever too late to start transition. no matter how long you have to stay with them to set up your own life, it is out there, and one day you will get to a point where whether they cut you off or not, it doesn't matter. you'll get to choose your own clothes, religion, hair style, makeup, house decorations, food, schedule, the world will be your oyster. so when it gets hard, hold on to that. i believe in u 💕

I never cared for Stryker. But whats the problem with him embodying toxic masculinity? He's supposed to be a bad guy.

I think you may be a bit mistaken! Personally I don't see a problem with Striker being this cowboy who embodies toxic masculinity. However what I do see a problem with is the inconsistency with his motives.

You see, in our first episode with Striker, we're presented with the idea that Striker is an imp who's issues with Stolas are more so about the classism in hell in which getting paid by Stella to kill Stolas is more of a happy coincidence. This in itself I find a very interesting motive in which Striker is someone so dead set on taking down Stolas (a figure who represents the classism he's subject to) that he's willing to work for another goetia to get it done potentially pointed to the short sighted and surface level thought he's had as he fails to realize killing Stolas isn't going to be the straw that breaks the camels back and causes any reformation of the structures that make hell what it is. There is also the apsect of how this makes him similar to Blitzo in a way. Both of them are lower class and seeking the help from the very figures that look down upon them to get a leg up in life. Blitzo has sex with Stolas for his book, Striker tries to kill Stolas in exchange for money from Stella. Striker trying to convince Blitzo to turn on Stolas makes a great moment to plant the seed of doubt in Blitzos head that Stolas doesn't care for him and that Stolas only likes him because they have sex and Blitzo being lower class means he has more to lose.

But the aspect of Striker being a bigot and supposed to represent toxic masculinity? While you can say Strikers talk of classism was to sway Blitzo, that brings to question why he then continues to bring it up around Stolas. It reads as an attempt to paint him as a bitter poor person who should just be greatful to be acknowledge by the upper class. If it was about toxic masculinity I think he should be talking to Stolas about what it means to be a "real man" implying Stolas is lesser for wanting to divorce his wife, for not having a high pain tolerance, ect. Things that are part of toxic masculinity. He can have spoke to Blitzo about classism, but then make him talk to Stolas about his actual motives because he has no reason to lie about it. It just makes it seem as thought he really is sincere on his talk of Stolas taking everything away from him.

One approach Ill admit I personally would've been interested in seeing is Strikers hatred of Stolas stemming from being attracted to him. Now I have an extreme dislike of tropes like "maybe the homophobic bully is gay!" not exclusively due to the portrayal, because im not going to pretend as though I havent met or seen people who due to being raised in homophobic environments they become the bully towards anyone who is out or people they have feelings for to try to push it away. That is a very real thing that happens and the times people portray it well I appreciate. The specific thing I do dislike however is the push narrative wise that due to this should for some reason pity the person who's a bully and forgive them or that it makes their actions okay. The thing about this trope is someone being gay, does not cancel out the times they were cruel to others and the lasting impacts that can have on them.

You can't tell if the homophobic person is actually gay vs just homophobic as easy as we may want it to be. Its a thing that sometimes when men realize theyre gay that they might further delve into toxic masculinity to hide from that part of themselves, and that means it would pose an interesting dynamic if Striker hates Stolas so much because he has feelings for him, and because of this Striker has pushed it off, but now hopes in killing Stolas he won't feel this way anymore. And ideally much like real life this does not make Striker in the right or worth pitying. There is a level its sad but fundamentally, Striker is not a good guy for this and those arent contradicting ideals. And on top of that how cruel would Stella be for someone who picked up on Strikers feelings and is taking advantage of it?

Overall its a matter of consistency. I'm not opposed to Striker having lied to Blitzo, but the fact he hits similar talking points with someone he has no reason to lie to implies hes being truthful and it doesn't show any indication of Striker being this bigot Viv and the crew seem to want him to be.

sam remembers the things he said when possessed-ish, and apologizes to dean for saying things he didnt mean, but dean questions if it isn't partially true, to which sam says "do we need to talk about this?" and dean, of course, says no

i love that dean doesnt believe that sam doesnt harbor negative feelings towards him, and conversely that sam doesnt admit (or doesnt believe?) that he harbors negative feelings towards dean

also love the iconic "lets talk feelings VS this is an emotions free zone" dynamic being so blatantly shown in that scene

literally forgettable plot, but that fight between the brothers, and that sam wasnt able to hold back the murderous rage, is really interesting, on top of the seeds of distrust and resentment showing themselves in that closing conversation between them. that's probably the closest to ideal content i want to see in regards to the winchester characterization because of how it displays the extremes in the lack of true confrontation of their issues. 7/10

ahaha hey i appreciate you wanting my thoughts on this. so keep in mind i really haven't explored the st4 story/theories beyond watching the trailers like once and sorta skimming thru what people say on here. so there's quite a bit of context i could be missing.

very short answer in case you dont actually want my whole rambly thought process about their characters and whatnot (sorry idk how this happened.) i generally agree with the fandom's understanding of them being somewhat bitchy/standoffish at first, but i do think some ppl take it to... an absurd extent... like it comes across like 'women can't interact without fighting/having a rivalry!’ like. they’ve now been described as a ‘dream team,’ there have been enough little moments (mostly from robin) that planted the seeds for them to interact later on, as well as their mutual friendship with barb. so like, this idea that they’re gonna entirely fail to mesh doesn’t work for me lol.

ok i realized i didnt fully answer your actual question till later in this rant so tldr: i think theres a good chance nancy realizes she doesn’t have anyone her age in hawkins that really gets her/what she’s been through once jonathan leaves and kinda awkwardly reaches out to steve and robin in some way. or, she gets pulled into the investigation of the creel house/asylum and she and robin just kinda. pair up. whether by choice or not, really idk which to expect.

generally what i gather from them is they're both leaders. they're very intelligent. we've seen how bright and clever robin is, and nancy is dedicated and similarly smart. a lot of people think they might butt heads, and i think that's possible, but i think it could absolutely be in a way that motivates each other? like i think they could challenge each other’s thoughts and push each other. which would be really advantageous in investigations and whatnot.

i mean, something people overlook in considering them is how theyre...... i don't want to say foils, but like right we have these lines of robin assuming nancy's a priss. she's not like your other friends, and not like nancy wheeler. i think there's a more vulnerable side to robin that we see in that coming out scene, and she might feel insecure in how she relates to other girls/her peers in general? particularly in the 80s. and especially seeing nancy as this pinnacle of a high school cliche, i could see it being a point of discomfort.

meanwhile nancy. well, nancy kinda wants to reject traditional suburban ideals and all, while still absolutely living in the comfort of it (hence the whole jancy fight in s3). i think she needs someone that challenges her and makes her sort of uncomfortable in this. LIKE. im not explaining this well. i don't think robin's throwaway 'priss' line is totally accurate and it'll be really interesting to see that explored outside of the mall battle; at the same time, i think if robin brings that witty/sarcastic humor she had at the beginning with steve to the table, even a little bit, nancy would be thrown off by someone not immediately agreeing and going along with her plans/thoughts.

and that's a good thing imo! for the type of person she is, it obviously is good to have someone willing to collaborate and listen, since she cares so much about what she's doing and does the work to deserve to be heard. but i think a lot of growth could come from her being challenged by robin not always bending to her will. and i also think, given the time to collaborate, they’d both learn to appreciate and respect the others’ intelligence and perspective. that’s just my take.

so. the vibe i have in mind ignoring the plot for a sec. like. i think it'll be very awkward at first. what's interesting is they have a lot of assumptions about each other to break down. like, robin went from the whole priss line to witnessing nancy in the mall fight in one night. and while we don't have a huge indication of where robin is on nancy's radar, im willing to go with the popular fandom belief that she'd be a little confused about her relationship with steve at first. but wouldn't want to ask right away. or maybe she would. idk. point being, she's probably at least sort of on her mind. particularly with jonathan leaving. she seemed to only really be close to barb, and then steve (tho she had some walls up). she hung around tommy h and carol, and ig there's a throwaway line abt a girl named ally, but she doesn't really seem to have a lot of close friends. so like. it could be that she approaches robin at school, or even at her and steve at family video, bc she doesn't really have anyone else in hawkins that gets what she's been through. if not that, and she just floats along with acquaintances, then whenever they're introduced i think it'll be like something ive already mentioned.

rq im gonna dig into something i think a lot of ppl overlook which is what we got from rebel robin. i think she's supposed to be like 15 in it, so obviously she's matured a bit in current canon, but she's this very inquisitive and excitable and passionate kid. she seems to want a lot of answers that she can't always get. naturally likes a challenge. we know who else is like this. ANYWAY nancy also pops up in rebel robin! it sorta throws a wrench in the 'who are you?' line, bc as far as i remember, they acknowledge each other.

and a big one. barb was robin's best friend up until like 6th grade!!!!!!! robin absolutely remembers the girl who replaced her as a best friend (maybe that’s where some of the resentment lies? though it was a long time ago), and nancy was likely aware of robin as well, as unless they had some big falling out, im sure barb and robin were still friendly. there's a good chance they played together as young kids - it's a small town. anyway, they’re connected through barb. in theory at least, it’ll probably be nice for both of them to have someone who understands the grief of losing her.

um another thing about barb. im pretty sure she was gay. right. first of all, queer kids flock together somehow far before that realization, and like, the sulking after the fight with nancy? the fashion? idk. anyway, i really don't think nancy would've been totally thrown by barb if she ever had the chance to come out. it might've been something she had to learn about and sit with, but i personally think ultimately it would've been fine. i know some people even ship them or at least suspect a one-sided crush. so, this idea that she'd be a total dick to robin abt it just doesn't line up with me. also, like, if it's a popular fandom belief that mike is bi/gay, and it's essentially canon that will is, we've seen how much she loves them! im not saying a equals b, im just saying dont rush to say she couldn't ever get it. but also i think some of the thoughts of her being very clumsily supportive/taking time to get used to gay people could be very accurate lol. part of my reading of her does come from noticing some repression, as is natural with the wheelers in general.

we know one way or another they wind up exploring the asylum together. idk if this comes before or after the group goes to the creel house, but. at some point they must either realize they both have the same questions and team up, or are forced together after the group starts investigating. i think this will follow some sort of flow of what ive said before.

this is my understanding of the show and characters and dynamics and all, obviously some people read the characters in very different ways. im just doing my best with my perspective. can’t wait to see how right or wrong i am lol <3 thanks for asking if u read this far

ok gang its Dragon Time. i will say that though this is a dragon au only beej and lydia are actually dragons. lydia ive mostly based off that image you sent and will probably cement the design im going to use later, beetlejuice i have a few ideas of roughly what he'll look like but i need to put some more work into designing him

anyway,

an explaination:

in this universe i just made up, dormestic dragons are kinda similar to horses in that theyre not very common pets (and are mostly owned by people with a good amount of disposable income) and have specific and sometimes complex care and training needs. there are also feral dragons, though theyre not particularly common either. dragons raised around humans can develop quite good language comprehension, though they dont have the vocal chords to mimic speech.

so onto the plot, which i realise is in a similar vein to a few of my other beetlejuice aus, but i am nothing if not a guy who will unashamedly tell the same story over and over a little to the left :)

emily deetz always loved dragons, and always wanted to raise one from an egg herself. a few years before her health took a turn for the worse her husband bought her a dragon egg, and she named the hatchling lydia and proceeded to absolutely dote on the little creature and put a lot of time and care into ensuring shes looked after and trained well. charles always listened to her talk about lydia and would admire the dragon but mostly from a distance, he was never much of an animal man.

lydia's breed will grow to around the size of a horse, but when emily passes away shes somewhere between the size of a cat and a medium dog and living in the house. charles promised to take over caring for her and tried to use emilys notes and care guides, but hes just not really that great at it. he doesnt have time, he forgets things, its hard to spend so much time around something emily loved so much while hes grieving. and then when he gets into a new relationship, the dragon hates her. all of this makes lydia generally grumpy and aloof, which doesnt help, but charles made a promise and intends to stick with it.

lydia first meets beetlejuice when shes sitting tethered to a perch in the garden. charles doesnt realise that she actually learnt to unclip that particular tether before she could fly, but shes happy enough just chilling on her perch so she doesnt bother. beetlejuice is a feral dragon roughly the size of a pony, and she watches him rather clumsily half-fly, half climb over the garden fence. she obviously asks him what the hell hes doing there (scavenging) and they get to talking. he teases her for having a human's name and being a pet. shes never met a feral dragon before so she unhitches herself from the perch to hop down and get a closer look. hes baffled, asks her why the hell she hasnt escaped by now if she knows how to do that and if her wings have been clipped, and she says she has to stay so she can get food and shelter. he basically laughs at her for that. she has no loyalty to charles but had never considered running away, and with beetlejuice going on about how much better life is as a feral dragon she decides that maybe its not so much of a bad idea and declares that she is now feral, beetlejuice laughs at her again but lets her tag along with him, and suggests they fly somewhere new to avoid her being found.

where ive got up to is them meeting the maitlands - a couple who looked out of the window one morning to see a large scruffy dragon drinking out of their birdbath, and another little one who has knocked down their bird feeder and is now snacking on sunflower seeds. but they notice that the little one is wearing a headcollar, which means 2 things - shes domestic, and someone needs to get that headcollar off her before she grows too much and it cuts into her. and so begins their quest to befriend those feral dragons that keep going through the neighbourhood's bins

like my entire view of SB as a game isnt changed forever or anything, but i feel like it just really highlights the current standard when sb was in development and the standard we have now/will later

think about ruins storytelling compared to SB, ruin leaned into the linear path by path storytelling and had actual on screen scenes and interactions, but it was like, still not all there. roxy and cassie were underdeveloped and so was the glamrocks' story.

but i think this reddit post is onto something with the idea that scotts little story aspects he just told them to put in actually were supposed to be not blatant and in your face, but instead give you the tools to imagine them yourself. thats basically what the glamrocks entire story is.

freddy has one scene where he gets into how he feels about being a sentient animatronic/freddy fazbear, the face of the brand, and tied with bonnies decommisioning and freddys showcase of grief, thats literally all we needed to paint an entire picture in our heads about the ethicality of the glamrocks being sentient and forced into the boxes of their brand characters, and how easily they can be let go at the snap of a finger

it also just perfectly ties in with the nature of freddy leaving at the end, like hes free from all of it, and his willingness and want to let the whole place burn in sb endings

the point is that its very plausible that sb was meant to be written like fnaf games usually are, with not completely in your face blatant on screen everything is expanded upon writing, but planting the seeds and giving us as the fans the tools to think about it deeper. its exactly what they did with the glamrocks/freddy and bonnie, like i just talked about

and also exactly what they did in ruin as well. cassies story is basically completely off screen, as well as her relationships with gregory and roxy and how theyre written, but even the smallest hints they gave us painted the exact picture of what they wanted to convey in our minds.

revealing that cassies friends never showed up at her party with ONE roxy line and a drawing that doesnt even convey her party, but with added context of the roxy line gives us what we need to put two and two together, and that her father is absent, AND just the very nature of cassie doing what shes doing in ruin just for gregory, her best friend, i literally know everything i need to know about her character, and it sets up for a very interesting and good future for her story with vanny!cassie.

she has abandonment issues, and because of that will do anything for her friends that are loyal to her and are good to her like others werent, and the mimic framing gregory for the elevator will immediately cash in on that insecurity and make her think that gregory abandoned her like everyone else, setting up her arc for manipulation from mimic to become the next vanny, original vanessa writing style. its perfect and so so well done

and that was all done with so little storytelling. barely any of this was super expanded upon and in our faces in the dlc, its just that fnaf is so naturally 'bare minimum content' that it sticks out, but in a less is more kinda way. it helps its writing, and i feel like what theyre saying in this reddit post lines up with fnafs whole history, even releases after SB.

i feel like its very plausible that sb 'fell flat' because its exactly how they described it. the kind of classic fnaf storytelling in the wrong kind of game design and scale. ruin was a dlc for sb, not its own release, so it was smaller, but it easily could have been not bigger, but longer, and still retained its perfectly balanced storytelling (at least for cassies character). it was designed with linear progress in mind, so so was its writing, while sbs no matter what was a lot more freeroam and ''go wherever u want', than switched, making its storytelling not feel thought out and like it realized its potential

anyway back to that standard thing, i mean that in a way where i just feel so much more excited for future games, like whatever ggy content theyre cooking and the vanny!cassie stuff and all that. sb just had like, an insane amount of shit happen to it, but ruin is giving us a taste of what writing could look like for future releases thatll be actively on track and not correcting course, like every release since sb has been, probably ending with sotm or at the latest the ggy content. I have my issues with some of ruins writing, like Roxy and cassie and 'fixing' chica, but those are all things they can easily improve upon, and they probably will, and even if they dont, most aspects of ruin are greatly written, making me confident that no matter if a future games has really visible flaws in one place, I can count that itll be a great time overall with at least something rlly intriguing thatll be well done, and that's the scenario that they dont improve on it

its making me so hype. this story theyre setting up with gregory and cassie and vanny and vanessa and stuff is so interesting and has been really sell set up so far, and after we exit this mimic era with sotm and tftp is just incorperated already, things will really be getting going. the future looks bright and sw has improved so much with games and now theyre atcually working in harmony with scott, and if ruin is any indication its gonna be fucking awesome

for anyone interested in SBs history and crazy mystery this reddit post is rlly interesting. it gives you a lot to think about and rlly makes u think about the original concept for the game, and observing all the evidence and how scott specifically acts and makes games, it all feels like it fits. rlly good theorizing. also reading OPs replies to comments in the comment section is worth it

BACKSTORY

capricorn sun / virgo moon / scorpio rising

raised by her uncle Big (his name) who is a hermit shut in town local in the depths of the florida marshland like some goosebumps protagonist. hes gone far past socially acceptable in terms of his ability to connect with the modern person but is wise beyond belief... his whole vibe is a warped cross between a cryptid and a mountain man that forages and cooks neighborhood plants. married for 27 years before his wife passed from illness. its quite possibly the only thing hes ever been emotional about

but dels entry to his life throws a wrench in his sadness (despite abandonment being what they bond over). she takes the focus away from his loss with her presence; her dad, his brother, died in a tragic train-car collision around the same time (which is speculated to be a suicide bt nobody can ever really be sure). he was a single parent so her custody is thrown up in the air for a few months as cps decides what they r gna do with this freshly orphaned little scrapper

she just kinda turns up on his doorstep n from there they cohabit a space. shes arnd 6-7 at this time... big never seemed to b phased by the fact tht she was a child n tended to treat her more like an apprentice or guest. he was never close to her father because of their age difference, being the older out of the two, so to have his daughter become his responsibility is just..... weird

this doesnt mean that he wouldnt provide for her bt it was. not very parental whatsoever.... no conversation or interaction beyond what was necessary. she was a mute fr a while and still is? to a degree.... very short spoken

when she got to her preteens he offered her an allowance in exchange for little odds and ends of stuff to be taken care of around the house. errands n all tht.... sometimes he wld purposefully leave things for her to pick up n take care of without mentioning it for a bonus. taught her the importance of saving your money and the horrid corruptness of a society basing everythings worth off paper. big exposed her to a lot of knowledge and took advantage of her silent curiosity by fueling it with books, homeschooling, life skills (catching a fish, setting a trap, knowing your berries in the woods...... the works)

her teens carried out the same way bt with the introduction of a real job, a spot down at the local butcher shop checking people out at the register and helping around the back of house. del knows a great deal abt cow/pig/chicken/etc anatomy from her years here..... she committed to being 100% vegan into her early twenties because of her trauma frm this occupation

it paid very well tho n was the best gig she was going to get within a reasonable biking route from home. so she settled!

the plan wasnt to keep it up for long anyway. she worked rly hard for her spot at yates and didnt intend to ever screw herself over. her plan was to get her bachelors, masters, become a professor, pursue a personal hobby of agriculture and build an elaborate greenhouse to live in

bt things happen..... 

some 35yr old douche with a green thumb woos her at a gardening store n swoops in to teach her a little more abt romance; all of this, of course, under the guise that he had all these tips and tricks for living environmentally friendly. a lame hippie wannabe that shouldve never even approached her bt alas.... he did

love is a touchy subject n it hadnt been something she set her sights on, but she was interested in wht this dude could teach her n at 19 she ended up falling in love. she delayed her education to stay an extra year back home and work out another plan which included him

this was very disappointing to her uncle bt he didnt have anything to say abt it. it was never parental before n it was never going to be, so this was another lesson she wld just have to overcome on her own

it turns out that she doesnt care for infidelity. when the confession comes out its met with a lot of screaming, bawling, blistering white hot anger. the whole incident is blacked out of her mind to b honest....

matters of the heart are no longer something to concern herself with because of the repercussions of her rash behavior regarding heartbreak O________O she spent a year in jail n still has to attend therapy / anger management meetings

deep down she is still hurting. there was a lot of pain... bt the sadness is not over the loss of some noob. she is in a state of constant disappointment, detaching from herself out of shame. putting her own life on pause only for it to turn out like that? stupid stupid stupid... 

PERSONALITY

chugging along! tldr spectre-like swamp nymph aura with the slightest (not so slight) unhinged feral tendencies

delicate like a moth resting in the gleam of a flashlight.... her anger singes her wings when shes too comfortable staying in one place, so theres always constant stimulation, always shifting gears. shes prone to feeling threatened; that being said, sadie is wary of walking in crowds, a little bit skittish when approached without making eye contact beforehand. like a small grey kitten..... in a big wide world

has a hard time keeping a conversation bt is very interested in debate, and even more so in studying alongside someone in complete silence. it reminds her of home in the same sense tht her uncle wld nudge her to keep reading by always having his own book open

doesnt have many friends and is alright with that. rumors are tht she is still a virgin bt who really knows? not i...... bt i wldnt be surprised if this was true. shes not impressed by people nor material items so this whole yates crowd is a turn off

she is truly clueless when it comes to how to behave around anyone her age. i think she understands but it just doesnt compute. she could come off as impolite bt it is just standoffishness? some people cld try to crack her but i dont think even she knows what that would be, or what that would look like. even in her one (1) failed relationship it was never deep heart to hearts or sharing dinner..... solitude is her realm

del is very comfortable with herself, very open with her wardrobe! doesnt leave too much to the imagination? she appreciates the human experience n expresses that thru this whole “body is a temple” type thing.... not quite confidence, but proudness of being. has gotten multiple notices frm professors for her tops being too sheer, nylons too ratted up, etc. has dirt under her fingernails half the time, chipped polish, some chapstick. smudges her eyeshadow on with her fingers

doesnt smoke cigarettes all too often but is dependent on weed. it kinda perpetuates her paranoid demeanor bt at the same time it keeps her lax enough to be able to mentally handle city life

her room is a playground for huge monstera plants, christmas cacti, ivy creeping along the doorway. she sleeps on a tiny thin mattress on the floor with a linen sheet and has her books stacked up on the ground next to it to hold her ashtray. the whole thing is dumb empty

takes her studies seriously and pinches every penny she can..... she has never ordered herself a coffee frm somewhere before, ordered food frm a restaurant... nothing. i wld think the most she would branch out from harvesting everything on her own is buying a bag of sunflower seeds frm a gas station, but even then, she much prefers eating stuff she grows herself. has a tomato plant, some basil beginning to sprout, etc.... manageable crops for any college students tiny space

a few people that get along with her? same classes? they shared a bowl n now theyre getting into the nitty gritty of some personal conversation that is veering into no mans land....

⭐ vpn providers - just like, in general? use a VPN. never NOT use a vpn. i remember 1 time i was torrenting super mario odyssey and that got us a cease and desist notice LMAO so i use nordvpn, which isnt the best, but you can share with up to 5 other people and there’s discounts all over youtube for 70% off of the 3 yr plan which is REALLY cheap. if you don’t have any money to spend on it, there’s always windscribe’s free plan which, while not comparable to paid vpn in terms of reliability and data, still gives you what you need to do what you need. PLEASE use a vpn if you’re torrenting, and share your vpn with friends.

⭐ torrenting sites that aren’t TPB - the pirate bay fucking sucks okay? don’t go on it. it’s a massive honeypot and has a bunch of ads even with adblocker. i recommend 1337x (the tracker site i use for almost everything), solidtorrents (weboasis uses this to search a lot of sites for torrents, great indexer), and although full of stuff that would make granny tumblr clutch her pearls, rarbg (has a lot of...tasteful content, as well as shows, cartoons and music). there’s always /t/ on 4chan but there’s no way in hell i’m linking that because it’s almost all porn and racist cartoons but sometimes there’s good music and rare stuff on there.

⭐ qBittorrent - LITERALLY DON’T USE ANY OTHER TORRENT MANAGER. a lot of them have crypto miners (COUGH COUGH µTORRENT). be safe. use opensource. qbittorrent is user friendly as well as gives more technical users under-the-hood access to stuff in the advanced section of settings, but i wanna keep this post fool-friendly, so just keep it as it is.

⭐ soulseek - you could bother with a lot of different torrents and whatever for music, but soulseek is entirely peer-to-peer, exempts ini files from searches (to prevent malware spreading) and tells you the quality and filetype of files you’re downloading. feel free to donate to the devs or just share soulseek, it’s good and only gets better with more users! it also has a customizable interface. mine is purple 

⭐ file software - okay, so now that you have your files, what now? for archive files (what a lot of games are stored in), don’t use winrar. winrar sucks. use 7-zip, an archive extractor and creator. it also doesn’t pester you for payment. being opensource. 

~~~ as for music and video, use VLC media player! literally the most used piece of software on my computer. not only does it play a LOT (and i mean a LOT) of filetypes, there’s also DVD-ripping compatibility and a way to download youtube videos without all that sketchy stuff in the middle. (if anyone’s interested, i can also share my discord rich presence stuff to show what you’re watching/listening to on VLC thru your discord status!)

~~~ if you’re desperate for stuff on bandcamp, media sites with large image galleries, or youtube, you could try jdownloader. i wouldn’t advise it, per se, even though i have it on my own computer just because they’re known for having sketchy installers on their software. but it is very useful and sorts your files well when theyre downloaded.

⭐ ask around! - there’s always people willing to help you hunt for stuff you need, or there might be a friend with the dvd of that ONE movie you’re looking for. if you have any “rare” stuff, share it, seed it, spread it!
