marigold valverde — insider, outgoing, noncommittal
marigold saw her parents build the perfect white picket fence life for themselves and decided she wanted none of it. she broke up with her highschool boyfriend to be free while she’s at university.
once marigold moved to san myshuno, she decided she wanted to explore her sexuality and date around. her plans failed with the first blind date she went to — she and amy fell in love.
after things became official, marigold was happy at first but soon cheated on amy multiple times with hookup calls and flirty exchanges with strangers. marigold fell pregnant after a one night stand (erwin pries) and that was the last straw between amy and marigold.
delilah valverde was born and she is the spitting image of her father. motherhood looks quite good on marigold, which i wasn’t expecting at all! once delilah aged up into an infant, marigold dropped out of university. her last term was a mess and she was more focused on her career and baby anyway.
after giving birth, marigold decided to workout more often and met tane, a gym trainer. they hit it off pretty quickly and are still dating! he’s not the one, but i think he’ll stay for a little while longer.
the girls have moved into a new apartment in the arts quarter and i’m loving playing with them! delilah is such a cutie and mari is my baby.

My analysis brain is eating well though!#What said...It is impossible for me to see this scene and not say out loud: “Me in the middle of my work day".#While there is a lot more going on with curly I personally resonated a lot with his struggles with burnout.#Burnout feels like mouthwash to me. That you keep rinsing out your mouth trying to get rid of the rotting smell#but it's just surface level solutions. The real cure requires something far more significant to actually make a difference.#The job 'is hard' and 'everyone struggles'. It's part of the process right? You're tired? Anxious? Depressed? Us too! Chin up!#Actually I resonated with a lot of things within Curly (this is a curly positive space - he's not perfect. He's just human).#One thing being his desire to see the good in people and believe in their potential.#Because here's the thing. Some people truly do just need someone in their corner who stands by them so they can grow and improve.#And some people will take advantage of your kindness. You focus so much on their humanity while you stop being a person to them.#The horrifically toxic relationship persists because Curly tries to see the bigger picture and believes in the good within.#Anyone who has lived through constantly trying to reframe the hurt as something else knows-#-just how many excuses your brain will make to avoid cognitive dissonance. It's human psychology.#Jimmy sucks so bad. But we the audience have the privilege of not having years of baggage associating him in our minds as 'friend'.

not enough discussion about the gavins' complicated relationship with feminine-coded/beauty products, i don't think.

Men find it absolutely hilarious when women/girls use “bro” “dude” “fam” “guys” to refer to others, in the most derisive way possible.
Every damn day I unwillingly overhear my youngest brother’s conversations with his xbox friends because the walls are thin and he has no damn volume control and there’s a girl who plays with them. When she isn’t online, they say the most demeaning things – not in a sexual way (I pray) but they’re always mocking her, criticising her gameplay and just clearly hate her guts.
(which makes me wonder why they don’t just unfriend her and kick her out of the party if they hate her so much, then hopefully she can find some better friends…poor kid)
Anyways this one time they were talking about how she always tries to act like one of them. Like she’s their bro. Like she’s a man. And it absolutely pissed them off. But they were laughing too. All ‘hah she really thinks she’s a guy. she thinks she’s our equal. she sounds so stupid. why do girls always talk like this lololol. let’s show her her real place and knock her down a few pegs in our next match. when she asks for an assist let’s just ignore her’
Fucking bleak. But it made me wonder how common of a thought this is for males. Women and girls using bro-talk is rampant on the internet and also in person, even with no y chromosomes in the equation.

One of the best things about Disco Elysium by far is that it does not fear ugly women. The world is full of ugly men, but ugly women are so hard to come by.

Small but significant character moments that I actually really adore are from both the times we see the boys as tots. There is a reoccurrence that happens in both of them that I find so incredibly interesting.
For the turtle tot short, Splinter leaves the boys with weapons. In the short, Raph is the one who suggests they do “what Lou Jitsu would do” and Leo is the one who takes point when Splinter comes back to reprimand them. Leo, in taking point, is the one to defend them and get Splinter off their tails.
And then, in the flashback regarding the Kuroi Yōroi helmet, Raph is the one who grabs and throws “Skully” as a way to replace their missing ball which breaks it into pieces, but Leo is the one who speaks for the group and rushes into action to fix the teapot.
I love this for multiple reasons, but the biggest are how it shows that Raph has always been inclined toward the bold and fun and making the plans to include his brothers in what he loves and believes they’d love, whereas Leo has always been inclined to be the “Face” of the group and shoulder the attention even if it’s potentially negative all while coming up with on the spot attempts to fix the situation.

I guess I find the shipping discourse a little funny because fandoms are gonna create ships regardless of the subject matter. I think really heavy, depressing media creates a need for people to see human connection. It’s like a way to cope, you know? More importantly and specific to this game (Mouthwashing), I also find it a little funny just because the devs themselves seem to be leaning towards ~one~ “ship” by retweeting artwork that depicts them as pretty close and protective. in his and davrin's banters, lucanis exhibits a certain little shit energy I don't think we see him have with anyone else other than illario and honestly I am living for this
