Wanted to post something between comm pieces!
This is Lyor LeDrac, Bori's younger brother and also a Timeline Traveler all his own. He's:
Sans-adjacent, and
Chesire-cat esque in personality.
Aside from this, They've got a bit of a Cat-and-Mouse chase dynamic with my boye Betsalel (My Seven Deadly Sins!Sans) whom I may post the turnaround references of when I get the chance!
Oh, and Lyor uses He/they pronouns c: I figured it'd be neat to switch it up a bit.

[ID: Two images of drawings of characters from Alice by the Mechanisms. The first shows the Knave of Hearts, the Queen of Hearts, and the Caterpillar general. The second shows Alice Liddel, and Majors Hatter and Hare. The background of both is light grey. Each are labeled with their names, in all caps: "The Knave of Hearts" is in a black hand-written style font; "The Queen of Hearts" is in a red serif font, where the thick parts of the letters are open space; "Caterpillar" is in a simple, thick, blue font, which has been distorted to be wavy; "Scout Captain Alice Liddel" is in a blue typeface with reduced serifs, and which most of the letters are the same width and all are the same height; "Majors Hatter and Hare" is in another hand-written style font, this time in red.
Image One: The Queen of Hearts stands close to the middle of the frame. She is pulling the Knave of Hearts into frame from the left, by a chain attached to a bright red collar around his neck. The Queen has tan skin and long wavy red hair that is pulled up in a messy bun. She has bright blue eyes and a smirk on her face. Her head is nearly in profile, facing toward the right of the frame, but her body is mostly facing the viewer. She wears a uniform coat and trousers which are very dark in color, the coat being redder while the trousers are cooler brown. Both are splattered with black. Her coat has tails and the shoulders of it are decorated with roses. Her combat boots are the same color as her coat. She is wearing gloves colored the same as her trousers. Her coat has gold buttons and the coat, gloves, and trousers have gold piping. She is looking at the Knave.
The Knave has light skin and chin length black hair. He has cat ears atop his head which are flattened to the sides. His eyes are a very light chartreuse green color. He has a very worried look on his face and tears are streaming from his eyes. His uniform is also a dark red/black color. His coat is longer and comes down over his hips and has a wide collar. The Knave's boots are barely seen off the edge of the frame, but they are knee high. His coat is also decorated with gold piping and has flat horizontal buttons. His hands are chained together in front of him and he has light brown claws. Out from under his coat a black tail wraps around his leg. There are red lines indicating his falling into the frame and the Queen's fist tightening on his leash.
The Caterpillar general sits on the right side of the image. It is sitting backwards in a wooden chair. It has its arms resting on the back of the chair and its head in its right hand. In its left hand it holds the hose of a hookah. The hookah that the hose attaches to is sitting on the seat of the chair, in between the Caterpillar's legs. The stem of the hookah features a heart shape and all glass parts of it glow blue. It is wearing a denim blue uniform made up of a coat and trousers. The coat has a wide collar and is double breasted. The trousers are rolled up to the calves, where it can be seen that the Caterpillar's has two below-the-knee prosthetics which are blue and col grey. It wears navy combat boots. Around the chair, on the floor, are five glowing blue bottles, in various shades, and an additional hookah. The each of the hookahs have two hose ports, with only one hose attached. The Caterpillar is smiling with half-lidded, yellow eyes. It has long wavy blue hair and two antenna protruding up from its forehead and splitting its bangs. it has light blue skin with medium blue stripe-like markings.
Image Two: On the left side of the frame, Alice stands facing full on to the camera and taking a step forward. She is holding a futuristic black long gun, which is filled with a glowing pink liquid, across her body. Her uniform is blue, which consists of a V neck, with a lighter single breasted panel over it and long sleeves, under a short sleeve, high collar bolero. She has what appears to be a name tag on her right upper chest. Her trousers are nondescript, but the same mid blue color and tucked into her knee-high boots. Her uniform has coat-tails which reach her calves. Her uniform is accented with silver, in the form of piping, buttons, belts, and the high collar. She has light skin and blonde hair, which is pulled back into a low bun, and she has bangs which are V shaped in the middle and long on the outsides. Her eyes are red and she is splattered with blood, mainly concentrated on the top of her head, he right shoulder, her left ribs, her right leg, and so much on her boots that it is hard to see that they were actually blue as well. Two speech bubble style notifications come from Alice's body, between her and the Majors. They are the same black and pink as her gun. In a seven-segment display style typeface, they read "E> [heart] Access denied <3 [heart]" under a small picture of a cat head with an army cap on that has the outline of a cat head in the center. The cat's mouth is open and three excitement marks are on either side of his face.
Hatter stands in the middle of the three characters, but he is close to Hare and has his weight n the leg closer to him. Hatter has his left hand on his hip and his right one up by his chin, with his index finger and thumb stuck out in an L shape. His eyes are closed and he appears to be biting his lower lip. He has medium brown skin and long brown hair that is pulled back in a low bun. His uniform includes of a royal blue coat with gold buttons and piping. It has a high collar and on his upper sleeve is an upside down cat hat shape in light purple. He has a red sash tied around his waist and wears light beige riding breeches with black paddock boots and light brown half-chaps. A little yellow star comes out of Hatter's face between him and Hare. Hatter wears a blue cap which matches his coat and has two bunny ears sticking out from the back; it's visor is shiny and black.
Hare is mostly side to the viewer, with his body facing towards Hatter and his head turned toward the viewer. He also has his weight on the leg which is closer to Hatter. He wears and olive green siren suit with a dingy undershirt beneath it. The sleeves are long enough that they cover his hands, which are held together in front of him. He wears dark brown combat boots and his suit has a warm white rabbit tail on the back. The upper sleeve of his suit has a light pink, right side up bunny head shape on it. He has tan skin and pink eye and he is smiling with his lips closed. His hair is short and green and nearly the same color as his uniform. He wears a hat much like Hatter's except that Hare's is the same green as his suit. There are three short, pink lines denoting excitement radiating on either side of his face.
End ID
Note: In the image description and this note, the names of the characters have been color coded, such that every time "Queen of Hearts," "Queen," or "Queen's" is appears it is in red; "Knave of Hearts," "Knave" and "Knave's" are in pink; "Caterpillar," "Caterpillar general," and "Caterpillar's" are in blue; "Scout Captain Alice Liddel," "Alice Liddel," "Alice," and "Alice's" are in purple; "Majors Hatter and Hare" is split so that "Majors Hatter" yellow, the "and" is the same as the rest of the text (dependent on what mode you have tumblr in) and "Hare" is green, while the instance of just "Majors" is split so the first three letters are yellow and the last three are green; "Hatter" and "Hatter's" is yellow; and "Hare" and "Hare's" is green. Similarly, "Image One" and "Image Two" are bold and in orange. End Note]

i know i posted alice and the majors™️ before but i wanted the whole Alice Squad to be together,,
(prev) (prev) (prev)
#the mechanisms#ttbt2#alice#described#the knave of hearts#the queen of hearts#general caterpillar#scout captain alice liddel#majors hatter! and hare!#i guessed which one is hatter and which is hare based on the order of their bodies and the order of their names#it was so very hard for me not to make 'hatter' green because the only difference between the words 'hatter' and 'hare' is the Ts#and Ts are green for me#im guessing based off of their uniforms that hatter was in the kings military. since that is a fancy uniform#i learned way more about horse riding gear than i needed to know when researching to write this#i like the details of the little cat/bunny head shapes on their uniform#i hope that hares is indeed meant to be a bunny#although im not sure what they mean#if hatter was on king coles side than him having what appears to be a symbol of comsat chesire makes sense#since comsat chesire was on the kings side too (now hes on his own side)#but i dont know what it would be upside down though. and i dont know how that correlates with hares#if hares is meant to be the same symbol that it could be showing how theyve switched side because they dont know wtf is going on#like hatter originally on the kings side bu now he has this anti-comsat patch and hare originally against the king but now he has this-#patch for him. could also be like when siegfried says 'i wondered if you wore my stripes would they let me stay as yours'#taking pieces of each others uniforms because if they could just be on the same side they wouldnt have to fight each other at all#i love them. if you couldnt fucking tell#blogbot q#idk someone let me know if the color coding is too much. my brain likes it better than the text being all the same color.#but it doesnt look particularly good in this case.#i tried to pick colors that went with their designs (not my synesthesia) but also the color options are limited#and alice and the caterpillar are both very blue and id likely give hatter blue if the image were of just him and hare

i think i just met my dad in 1985.
-
thinking about you & bakugou having a kid who’s quirk was the ability to time travel, and it’d never crossed your son’s mind that he’d be able to go back in time to meet you & bakugou back in your highschool days to see how you two interacted.
that’s exactly what your son, tatsuki, (can you guess who chose his name?), decided to do with his twin sister, akari.
“i dunno why you wanna go back so far, ‘suki. they’re like a gazillion years old. plus i don’t think they were much fun back when they were younger.” she spoke as her brother lead her to a secluded spot so he could time travel.
“but that’s exactly why i wanna go! i wanna see if they were fun.” tatsuki smiled as the blue light enveloped the two twins, warping them through time back to when you were still two heroes in training.
they landed outside a building, buses were littering up the street as kids in their school uniforms surrounded them.
“i programmed my settings to that it could take us back to when mom and dad met. i dunno where this is though.” tatsuki looked through his programming, making sure everything was right.
“stop feigning interest! you got some nasty look in your eye, you don’t mean what you’re saying.”
they caught the sound of a boy’s voice as they looked towards the noise, a blonde haired boy with red eyes and a loose fitting uniform was standing next to his classmates, a scowl on his face.
“is that?” akari stood stunned, her brother looking up at the boy.
he was shorter than he was now, and his hair was untamed. his face was so childlike, and he hadn’t grown into his features yet.
“alright, alright! you got me. ua’s second rate, if ya ask me. see ya on the flipside.” your grin was something similar to a chesire cat, and your arms were up in defeat as you walked away from the boy, an “s” on your black cap as you entered the building.
imagine your kids surprise when they set the clock forward a year, seeing you and bakugou walking together, his face had an angry expression on it as he walked next to you, his hero mask pushed up to his hairline. you were two work study students on patrol, how cute! although it was clear that their dad couldn’t stand you.
so just how the hell did you two get married?

Name a woman (bucky drabble)
Tumblr media
pairing bucky x fem!reader
fluff!!!!
———————————————-
“Name a woman.”
Bucky looked at you perplexed “what?”
“Name a woman, first woman that comes to mind,” you say expressionless
He hesitates for a second, “Sharon Carter..?” A questioning tone to his answer. He notices the change in your expression— angry? He did what you asked though, as odd as he thought it was.
“Okay.” Is all you say before storming out of the room leaving Bucky to analyse what just happened, he went over it so many times but he didn’t get why you were mad all of a sudden. He gets up and goes towards the bedroom and finds you curled up on the bed facing away from him.
“Dollface?” No answer. “Sweetheart?” He approaches the bed now, sitting on the edge and reaching a hand out to stroke your leg soothingly but you kick it away, “why are you upset?” Genuine confusion in his tone. You sit up and turn to face him abruptly seeing his wide eyes at your stern expression.
“Bucky. I said to name a woman, the first woman that came to your mind and you said Sharon.” Analysing his features because how did he not realise why you were mad at him.
“Baby-“ He went to inquire more but then it finally clicked- “fuck..” His hands came up to his face.
“Yeah, fuck.” Your arms were crossed now.
“I only said Sharon because I worked with her today on filing the latest mission report, don’t overthink it, honey” He was staring into your soul, at least that’s what it felt like, you sighed.
“But- why didn’t you- I thought you would’ve said me..” You looked down to where your legs were crossed on the bed.
“Your question caught me off guard,” He laughed slightly “I panicked! You’re the only woman I think about I swear, Sharon even had to nudge me a couple times today because I was distracted with the thought of you.” He saw the blush creep up your cheeks and reached his hands out to cup your face and make you face him.
“Sorry. I overreacted, that was stupid of me” You said softly to him watching him smile slightly.
“It’s okay, doll,” He moves you into his lap “if i asked you to name a man and you said someone else’s name i would probably be jealous too” He was cradling you now.
“It’s good you never asked ‘cause I was gonna say Steve,” A wicked grin breaking out on your face as you felt him pick you up and drop you onto the bed.
“You think you’re funny?” His tone taunting as he stood over you.
“I do yes” grinning like a chesire cat at this point. He tries keeping his expression stern but your smile makes him weak and he flops down next to you as you turn to face each other.
“You’re a pain in the ass” He retorts to which you kiss his nose and move back to look him in the eyes,
“you love me!!”
“That I do” He’s sporting the dorkiest smile before you press a kiss to his lips and curl up next to him.
“I love you, the only man who consumes my thoughts” At this he smiles and the both of you simply bask in each others presence.

thank you @starfxkr for the theory that rafe is actually short for rafael now i can’t stop thinking about calling him by his full name whenever you want to scold him or simply just annoy him and this would be perfect to do with @princessbrunette ‘s drabble
rafe is a man with too much pride but he’s also so easily embarrassed it’s hilarious.(thats why barry bitches him the way he does). you’re hanging with him and his friends whether it be topper and kelce or barry and conversation somehow flips to your sex life and rafes mocking your moans and all the dirty things you say that’s supposed to be for his ears only— you’re staring at him irritated and mortified.
“rafael!” you screech causing him to pause and now he’s just staring at you like this
Tumblr media
cause ??? did— did you really just call him in that…. in front of his friends? in front of barry of all people ?!? the audacity…
he’s looking at you and you’re looking at him meanwhile barry is sitting there grinning like the chesire cat “rafael huh”. now rafes flushed and grumbling like a child gripping you by the back of the neck to leave cause he’s embarrassed as if he wasn’t the one who just humiliated you!

Chifuyu thinking he broke you after giving you a shaking orgasm.
Tumblr media
"Chifu'...fuck, a-ah!"
Chifuyu sat behind you with his knees planted on either side of your hips.
His blonde bangs fell across his forehead, tongue lolled out of his mouth as he rubbed his thumb faster and faster in circles on your engorged clit.
Two fingers slipped inside you with very minimal resistance due to how wet you were.
"You're so wet, baby. Couldn't wait for me to get off of work so I could come fuck you, huh?"
His aquamarine eyes settled on the juncture between your spread ass cheeks and the creamy translucent substance coating your inner thighs.
"Mmm, Fuyu...feels s-so good..."
You murmured with your cheek pressed against the cool silk of the pillow. Your bonnet had slid halfway off of your head, but Chifuyu fixed it for you and laid a soft kiss upon your tawny cheek.
It was almost embarassing how close you were to cumming just from Chifuyu's fingers playing with your swollen clit, but he was so good at it that he'd often make you come several times from his fingers alone before he even put his cock in you.
"That's right, baby. You close to cumming all over my fingers, aren't you?"
He sped up his actions, thrusting deeper with the two inside and pressing his thumb down directly on top of the little button, moving it from side to side.
Your thighs enclosed around his hand and began to quiver which made Chifuyu grin like a Chesire cat.
"Come on, open up for me, babe. Trying to get you there, sweet girl."
"'Fuyu, I can't! You're about to make me cum, you-!"
A soft gasp left your parted lips as a harsh shiver raked through your entire body. Chifuyu's hand was definitely stuck between your legs now as you shook and convulsed.
His eyes widened in shock. Usually, you might shiver a bit while cumming but you'd recover quickly.
Panic began to sink into his chest and he ripped his hand from between your legs like he'd been burned when you didn't stop shaking. Your head twisted to the side and you drew your knees up towards your chest.
"Shit! Oh shit...baby? You okay? Y/N?"
Baji often spoke to Chifuyu about all the women Baji himself had fucked with and how he always had them shaking and cumming all over themselves, but Chifuyu just took his words with a grain of salt, attributing it to simple "locker room talk."
He didn't actually think that a 'shaking orgasm' was a real thing, which is why he was so horrified at your body's reaction.
Poor thing was getting ready to grab his phone and call an ambulance when you opened your eyes and smiled up at him sweetly.
"Y/N! Are you alright?!"
"Mhm. That was amazing, 'Fuyu. Why are you looking so scared?"
He grabbed your hand and pressed a chaste kiss to the back of it.
"Because I was. You should have seen the way you folded in on yourself like you were in pain. I thought I hit the wrong thing and made you have a seizure or something."
You couldn't stop the giggle from leaving your lips as you looked up into his wide baby blue eyes.
"Oh, Bunny, you're so cute. I don't know if what you just said is possible but that was one of the best orgasms you've ever given me."
"Really?" He bit his lip shyly, cheeks warm and as red as cherry tomatoes.
"...Can I maybe try it again?"

What is Fae Crust like?
👉👈
~💖
He acts and looks like a hobo. If he has a job, no one knows, not even Boysen. Yet somehow he does have money but he'll still ask others for their money.
He's very good at pickpocketing. Steals food. Whines about walking, but will also whine about flying. He'll flop on any that'll let him, gangly limbs and all.
and if people try to ask him anything, he will talk them in circles until he gets that person to reply to their own question.
Very chesire cat vibes but with resting bitch face.

Wonder Tower ♦️♣️♠️♥️
Tumblr media
Let's take a closer look at them, shall we?
Tumblr media
Peppino
He arrived in Wonderland with no memory of his past, with the only thing that remembers is that he was trying to catch a snow white rabbit. Welcomed by the White King, Peppino was given the mission to venture in this land and reach the Tower ruled by the Queen of Hearts to defeat them and free this land from their maniacal and destructive clutch. Peppino reluctantly accepts and, accompanied by the King and his trustworthy yet odd cavalry, ventures in forests filled with contradictory signs, gardens full of talking flowers, beaches with animals that run continuously and more, making friends along the way while sometimes getting annoyed with all the nonsense that habits this absurd land. Peppino wears an armour, gloves and heels donated by the White King, has ruffled hair and dark circles under his eyes, almost as if he hasn't slept well in months. He really has the face of someone who is tired of all this stuff, he can be kind but most of the time he is either so nervous that he stays still while shaking like a leaf or on the verge of exploding with anger because of his hammering headaches.
Tumblr media
White King
He's the sovereign of Wonderland... or, well, the ex sovereign of Wonderland, losing his power against the maddening Queen of Hearts. He always wears white regal clothes with a silver crown placed on his short curly brown hair, along with a nice moustache that makes him look more friendly. The White King is the one to properly welcome Peppino to Wonderland and to tell him that he's the chosen one to defeat the Queen of Hearts that is terrorising the inhabitants of this place and become the new king. Of course, White King accompanies Peppino in this adventure, although he's more of a pacifist and prefers to not participate in battles, at most he acts as a guide and emotional supporter for whenever Peppino is in distress.
White Rabbit
The White King's most trusted and loyal friend, a giant white rabbit wearing a blue waistcoat with twirling whiskers who can run for miles at a great speed. He's the first character Peppino has met and also the one who carried him to the White King's castle. He doesn't speak, but can express himself through gestures and squeaks.
Tumblr media
Chesire Cat
The first odd character Peppino meets in his journey, a red striped cat with a wide, sly smile and a collar with a diamond shaped jewel attached to it. He doesn't seem to take anything seriously, always having a nonchalant and relaxed way of acting, laughing and making jokes to anyone he meets. He was ordered to stop Peppino from arriving at the Tower, doing so by deceiving and confounding him with the ability of turning invisible and removing parts of his body... But he preferred to play with Peppino's confusion with this place before deciding to join the duo to their journey to rebel against the Queen of Hearts.
(The bosses in this AU aren't Peppino's enemies, they act more as allies here :P )
Tumblr media
Caterpillar
The second fellow Peppino will meet. This weird character (as if the others weren't weird enough) has some of the characteristics of a caterpillar, multiple arms, long body (most of it covered with pants) and antennas, but also have a humanoid torso, head and hands, always decorated with various jewellery included a bracelet with a club shaped gem on it. He's a man of few words and pretty susceptible, he spends most of his time smoking with his hookah in the middle of a field.
Tumblr media
The Mad Hatter
Definitely the most annoying one. He's a silly small man with twirling moustaches and a bucktooth wearing a funny hat resembling a tea pot (and functions like a tea pot!), wearing a yellow suit with a spade-shaped jewel attached to his papillon. Even more of a jerk than the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter spends most of his time doing tea parties to celebrate his own and his friends' "unbirthday" for 364 days along with his moving mechanical tea pots. He rarely pays attention to what the others are saying and often creates big messes, making him Peppino's least favourite person in this absurd place.
March Hare and Dormouse
Respectively the girlfriend and best friend of the Mad Hatter. The first is a hare with pink clothing and black raven hair, she's a real party animal, always finding her boyfriend's parties endearing with a frivolous demeanor; the second is a, well, dormouse with blue fur and a sleepy look all the time, so much he sleeps during the parties inside teapots or sugar bowls, but he enjoys the company and savour the tea every once in a while.
Tumblr media
Knight of Hearts
The last guy Peppino meets before facing the Queen of Hearts. He's supposed to be guarding the Queen's roses garden... But he acts like a puppy doing their best in their job. The Knight of Hearts always wears a rusty bronze helm, hiding his face, and armour decorated with a ruined red cape attached with a heart shaped jewel on a brooch. He's armed with a sword and shield, both ruined and damaged looking, but the Knight doesn't really know how to use them anyway. They never speak but it's clear that they're very naive and, for how clumsy they are, their movements are almost always unpredictable, always tripping either on their own cape or with any object that meet the Knight's foot.
Tumblr media
Queen of Hearts
The apparent last obstacle Peppino has to face, the mad ruler of Wonderland, always wearing a regal red, green and black dress with roses and hearts, a crown placed on their red twirling and heart-shaped wig and a wide crazy smile on her face along with heart symbols on her cheeks and a red nose. They always have a creepy wide smile on their face, mumbling senseless phrases, putting chaos in all Wonderland, often threatening their servants to cut their heads at the minuscule error they make and breaking anything they don't like with their axe.
King of Hearts
The husband of the Queen of Hearts. He wears a crown to cover his balding head, glasses and a red vest with thick white fur. Although he's the King of Wonderland he doesn't really have that much power, not with that maddening Queen in command. Most of the time he remains aloof, in hope to be safe by the Queen's tantrums.
Tumblr media
Jabberwocky
The beast of madness, causing chaos to be spread in Wonderland by using the Queen of Hearts as a puppet, residing right on the top of the Tower. A dragon-like monster with teeth sharp like razors and chain-like whiskers, bringing anyone to the Jabberwocky's mercy by spiraling them into insanity to anyone who gets attached to them. He's ferocious and malicious, the only way to defeat him is to make a clean cut on the scar on his nape (hidden by the red scales on his head) while maintaining your mind lucid.
Tumblr media
Sunflower
She's one of the flowers of a garden Peppino ventures in the same garden as the Caterpillar's, has a pretty singing voice although she's not noticed by the other flowers for how small she is. She mistakes Peppino's shiny armour for the sun and asks him if she can join the group too. Peppino accepts, both because it would've been rude to not accept an innocent flower's wish, but also because after all it was nice to have her around. She's not very important to the story nor strong enough to face the Queen of Hearts, she's the only member (aside the White King and Rabbit) who doesn't give a headache to Peppino and she's also a very gentle emotional supporter.

“I don’t know… I kinda like shirts that don’t hug me too tight.” You mumbled, scratching the back of your neck.
You heard a dramatic gasp, and you looked into her eyes as she shook her head, holding up the top she had been trying to convince you to buy.
“Babygirl— why can’t you see how gorgeous you are. Anything you wear, you’d make look like a million bucks.” You Mother almost whined, and you couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped your lips from her antics.
“Ma you know that’s not true.” You argued, failing at keeping a serious expression.
“No baby— I know I’m right. That’s my secret.” She argues back confidently.
She walked closer and started combing stray hairs out of your eyes, smiling at you adoringly as she did so. Her eyes practically sparkled with love.
“What’s your secret Ma?” You asked quietly, leaning into your Mother’s delicate touch.
She cupped your chin and raised your face to her lips, the feeling of her pecking your forehead sweetly. The gesture made you all warm inside— her love filling you with so much protection.
“Mommies never lie. So you really are beautiful baby— and soon you’ll start to see that, and you’ll be breaking hearts left and right.” She spoke quietly to you.
“I won’t be breaking any hearts… because that means I’ll have to date people and well… that’s scary.” You admitted.
Your Mother lifted your chin back up, giving you another loving kiss on your forehead, stroking your cheek as if you were fragile and needed to be protected. In her eyes— you were her everything. Her little girl— she only wished you could live your life without any pain. She knew life wasn’t that perfect— but she’d do anything for her baby. She’s try as hard as she could to make her life perfect. She deserved it.
“It is scary baby, but if you never put yourself out there— you may never have the chance to meet people.” She cooed. “We learn a lot from everyone we meet, and if you don’t meet anyone— you won’t learn anything. It helps us grow into being a better person.”
You nodded in understanding, feeling comforted by her words. She believed that you could do it, so you started to believe you could. Your Mother truly did know best— she’d never put you in a bad situation. As much as you hated to admit it, she was almost always right.
“You’re so smart Ma. I’m glad I've got a Mama as good as you around.” You whispered as you hugged her tightly— forgetting that you were at the mall.
Her laugh vibrated through her chest as your head lay against her heart.
“You know your compliments always go straight to my head.” She joked and you snorted and playfully hit her hip.
“I’ll take it back.” You playfully warned.
“Please don’t— we were having such a nice moment.” She whined dramatically and you both went into a laughing fit.
The air was so cool— so breathable. Your limbs felt relaxed, your mind was at ease. Everything was so much easier with your Mother around, she truly was the light of your life.
"Okay, I'll get it." You finally gave in, pointing to the shirt that was hanging off her arm.
Your Mother eyes brightened and she smiled like the chesire cat, almost starting to jump up and down like a little kid. You forgot who was the older one sometimes. You just watched with a giggle.
"That's my girl." She ruffled your hair and headed towards the cashier.
You watched her walk away, happy that you could make her happy. Although the top wasn't what you'd usually wear— maybe your Mother was right. It was time to get out of your comfort zone— plus she was never wrong.
~
You cracked your eyes open at the sound of rain hitting your window, the peaceful ambience of a storm passing over the house. You let out a deep breath, a heavy feeling left sitting on your chest— the bittersweet memory still fresh in your mind. It was sweet because even the memory of your Mother could fill your body with the joy that you had been missing from life. Although it was bitter because they were only memories. Instead of staying in the moment with her, you were forced to be sent back into reality. Back to a world where she wasn't around anymore. That was the most painful realization you had to live through every day.
The days since her passing had been the same, but it was slightly different this time around. You were almost positive that because of the relationship between you and your Father was getting worse— had you desperately wishing to have your Mother back.
You wondered if it would've been easier to never know parental love, then live most of your life with it— then to not have it.
You hadn’t realized you had slept through the night, misjudging how exhausted your kind and body was. There was just a slight glow from outside, otherwise the sky was cloudy— the weather gloomy. The outside was currently how you felt, it seemed.
Glancing around the room, there was no sign of him. Which was the second thing that had come to your mind this morning. Bucky.
Pushing that thought to the side, you swung your legs over the edge of your bed— heading towards the bathroom. Your head felt heavy, your limbs feeling like there were wights tied to them. You overall felt like the walk to the bathroom was much harder than it should’ve been. You had hoped that a nights rest would ease the haze that covered your brain. But as you walked to the bathroom— you could still sense the thick fog within your head.
Switching on the light, you headed straight for the mirror without giving it much thought. You’d be lying if you said your reflection didn’t startle you. In fact the harder you looked— you doubted that was actually you.
Your eyes were puffy, red rimmed as they were the night before. Your lips were chapped, achey with how dry they were. All in all— it was the still irritated skin on your cheek that had you in shock. The palm sized mark had you staring without blinking— your breathing starting to come in rapidly. Almost instantly, the events from the night before began to play through your mind.
"You wonder why I don't want you around— do you not see how you act? Disrespectful fucking brat! I do all these nice things for you— I buy you a fucking house! I provide you with everything you need!"
The memory of his hand shooting towards your face had you flinching back in the space of your bathroom. The action startling you from just remembering.
You furrowed your brows, staring at your reflection in confusion. Puzzled at your body's reaction— the way you had jumped. Even though you were alone in the bathroom— you felt embarrassed. Your hand shot down to grip your thigh, squeezing the flesh until you could start to feel pain. Your nose burned again, your chest tight and uncomfortable— unable to expand fully. You gasped, almost breaking from this trance as you released your thigh— glancing down frantically at the now red and irritated skin. Your head felt fuzzy as you couldn't understand why you were acting like this. You felt like you were out of control of your body— your mind. You wiped your face harshly, drying your skin of any tears— any evidence that you had been a mess.
Without wasting another second, you headed from the bathroom and made your way downstairs— in search of Bucky.
Bucky had made himself comfortable in the grand office downstairs. The room seemingly untouched, obvious that you didn’t care for this room. That much didn’t surprise him. But what did shock him— was the stash of liquor that was kept inside the study.
Surely that wasn’t yours. He thought to himself.
He had sat by your bedside, guarding the room as you slept for awhile. After you started to mumble in your sleep— that’s when he decided to leave. He knew you’d want him to be there when you woke, but the words about your Mother escaping your lips seemed private. It felt wrong to over hear such information while you were unconscious.
He also just needed to excuse himself, needing to drown his thoughts with alcohol for awhile. His career let alone his life— was in jeopardy.
He didn’t want to fear Pierce— but he couldn’t stop the overwhelming waves of anxiety from crashing into him. Amongst everything else, you stuck out in his thoughts. Majority of his worries circled around you, the concerns about you being left alone— with Pierce. If it wasn’t his life he was worried about, it was you. He was only afraid of the outcome because if there was no him— he wouldn’t be able to protect you.
It continued to eat away at him— he knew he should do something. He let the thought pass by… I should run.
He raised the glass, downing the rest of the contents— enjoying the burn on his throat as he scoffed at the cowardly thought.
He’d would run for you… with you.
He stared at the empty glass as he attempted to digest the idea. Knowing deep down he wouldn’t be able to make a proper decision without talking with you.
“James?” You called out, grabbing his attention to the doorway.
You didn’t even attempt to send him one of your usual warm smiles, instead glancing around the room you completely forgot existed. For good reason.
“What are you doing in here?” You asked, but soon found your answer when you let your eyes drop to the bottles of liquor surrounding his empty glass. “It’s early.”
You pointed out, and Bucky lowered his gaze for a moment in shame before lifting his eyes to your face again. This was when he noticed how different you looked.
It was the little, subtle changes that no one else could distinguish. But he could— he could see it clear as day, and it broke his heart.
Your eyes were dull, missing the usual sparkle in them. Your face just seemed like it was longer, the way you didn’t even try to keep a smile on your face. He didn’t think he’d ever seen you so… not you. Lastly, what killed him the most— was the way you were standing. The way you were trying to seem so small, like you could be small enough to hide away from everyone.
“James?” You called again, breaking him from his analysis of you. It was then he realized he hadn’t responded.
“Uh… yeah guess I’m just a little stressed out.” He finally told you, not completely lying.
“You shouldn’t do that— it can cause a lot of issues.” You motioned towards the alcohol.
“I know.” He mumbled, lowering his gaze to the desk again.
“You should just talk to me, instead of drinking until you pass out.” You told him softly.
“I can hold my liquor well.” He tried to argue, glancing up and sending you a smirk.
You just shook your head, crossing your arms like you were a mom scolding her kid.
“I don’t care. You should still talk to me.” You told him sternly.
He couldn’t ignore the shock in your change in demeanor. Of course you’d be in a different mood from the events last night— but he wasn’t used to this solemn version of you yet.
“Okay.” He agreed finally, standing up to head towards another room— preferably one that didn’t hold as much negativity as this one.
You surprised him by reaching out to take his hand, holding it tightly in yours. You didn’t give him a second to show his shock— instead you held on, tugging him towards the direction of the library.
He hadn’t even talked with you yet, but somehow he already felt lighter— in a better mood. Just by your presence, let alone your touch— was enough.
Making your way through the library— hand in hand— you didn’t slow until you reached your spot. The same spot from the very first introduction you two shared. One that didn’t have that good of an ending.
The memory although had a sour end, you still looked back and wanted to smile. You two had no idea what was coming— so naive. Like you said— it almost made you want to smile. Almost.
“James, why are you drinking this early in the morning? I know you’ve got something on your mind.” You started, as soon as you two sat down in your spots.
He rolled his eyes, avoiding your stare. He knew you were right, but also he just didn’t want to have this talk. Though— he knew it needed to happen. He just wished he could have one more care free day. He hated himself for not enjoying them while they lasted.
“Doll, we know what’s going to happen.” He voiced lowly, body and mind defeated.
You flashed a fearful expression before attempting to harden your features back.
“What do you mean?” You asked him cautiously.
“I spoke wrongly to your Father— everything that happened yesterday… you know how this ends for me.” He hinted, hoping you’d understand.
You shook your head, while still glancing at him with a softened expression. You don’t think you’d ever seen Bucky so stressed, his face stuck in a concerned expression.
“You don’t know that for sure.”
“(Y/n)… your Father doesn’t give a shit about me! For all I know— he probably has a new bodyguard ready for you. I’ll be as good as gone soon!” He exclaimed, voice raising— but it was Bucky. You weren’t afraid of him like you were your Father.
“Nothing is going to happen to you— I’ll make sure of it.” You promised him, and for a second he paused and looked at you deeply.
He ran a hand through his hair, leaning back in his seat with a frustrated huff.
“I don’t really care what happens to me… I just don’t wanna leave you. I can’t… I can’t let him keep doing this to you.” He whispered, lowering his head— his emotions stealing his voice.
You felt your heart start to beat faster, the same butterflies fluttering around your stomach once more. Every time he protected you, made an effort to want to be with you— it had you speechless. You never knew you could find something like this again. After your Mother had passed— you thought the feeling was lost.
“We should run.” He spoke again, breaking the thick silence that had blanketed the room.
You swallowed at that suggestion, wondering why a small part of you still didn’t want to leave your Father. Although he had proved to really not care about you— love you. You still loved him. He was all you had left.
But maybe that wasn’t true anymore, here was Bucky sitting in front of you— willing to risk his life just so you could live your happy ending.
“Where will we go?” You spoke back finally, shocking him that you wanted to go along with it.
As he stared into your eyes, his stomach rolled sickeningly at the fear that was evident in your eyes. But it wasn’t fear for yourself— it was for him.
“Somewhere far away— somewhere he won’t find you. I have a few places in mind… but are you really willing to do this? Leave your home?” He asked, happy that you were on board— but still wanted to respect your decision.
You immediately thought of that one cheesy quote you’d read somewhere— not necessarily believing it until now. Home can be a person too.
You felt your nose burn, tears welling into your eyes and this time you didn’t fight it. Everything had been building ever since you’d woken up. The only place you felt safe wasn’t even your home anymore— it was him.
“This place doesn’t really feel like home anymore so… yeah I’m ready.” You admitted, your voice getting quiet by the end.
Bucky’s hand twitched on his thigh, the way his instinct was to touch you— to comfort you. He fought against the side of him that itched to jump over to you, instead he stayed rooted at his spot.
“There’s something else I need to tell you.” He started, not knowing if you were mentally ready to handle this. “Your Father has been keeping this from you for awhile, and he had asked me to keep it from you as well but— you deserve to know. I wanted to tell you so many times I just— I should’ve told you… so I’m sorry.”
You got up from your seat and plopped down next to him, not hesitating to reach out and take his metal hand in your two. Your held it comfortably while also using the metal ridges to fidget with.
“Hey, it’s okay. Don’t worry about what you should’ve done— you’re telling me now. That’s all that matters, so I appreciate that.” You assured him, scooting even closer so that your thighs were touching.
“Someone’s been stalking you (Y/n).” He finally confessed, and almost immediately he could feel the weight being lifted off his chest.
You didn’t speak for awhile, just staring at him like you weren’t sure if you imagined him saying those words. Your brain was having a hard time processing what he had said— someone was stalking you? You were disturbed, your skin crawling with fear. One thing stuck out to you the most— it was the fact that your Father had yet to tell you.
Bucky took your silence as a bad sign, watching you stare blankly at your lap, where your fidgeting hands stilled on his metal one. It was his turn to wrap his metal hand around your wrist, applying a gentle amount of pressure to try and get your attention.
“(Y/n)?” He asked softly, growing more worried the longer you stayed quiet.
You still didn’t know what you were feeling, it was hard to distinguish it when you were already overwhelmed with emotions today. Your brain felt burnt out— your mind wanting to shut off completely.
“How long?” You whispered, still staring at your lap.
“Awhile, and they’ve gotten close. They have left stuff on your doorstep— and I found it before you could see it.” He told you, watching you shiver from the information. “They found your Mother’s necklace in one of the boxes that was dropped off at your door.”
That had gotten your attention, your head snapping up to his— your eyes wide with horror. You immediately started shaking your head in denial, knowing where this was going. You felt like you were gonna be sick, so you tried to swallow back the bile from rising.
“No… No I— I know what you’re going to say! My Mother died from a car accident. That’s how she died.” You rushed out, your vision blurring with tears.
“(Y/n) I’m not saying whoever is stalking you was involved with her passing— I’m just saying that there’s something darker to this than anyone knows.” He assured you, watching you nod in understanding.
His heart hurt watching your body start to tremble, your bottom lip quivering.
“Do you have it?” You whispered ever so quietly.
“What?” Bucky asked suddenly, confused.
You faced him, grabbing onto both his hands now— needing him to ground you from spiraling. Bucky had to hold in the gasp that wanted to escape, from how close you appeared to be.
“Do you have the necklace?” You asked desperately, voice cracking, “My Father he… he wouldn’t let me keep any of my Mothers things.”
Bucky’s heart broke again, his eyes softening at your broken expression. The way you were trembling holding onto him, your eyes red rimmed and lost looking. He had never held such hatred for someone before— fucking Pierce.
“Doll, I’m sorry— he has it.”
You nodded in understanding but couldn’t hold back the new wave of tears. You didn’t hesitate, and threw yourself into his arms. Wrapping your arms right around his middle, feeling the bulky muscles flex through his clothes.
He didn’t waste anytime and engulfed you in his protective embrace. He willed himself to stay strong— for you. But your cries and shakes of your body were killing him, he swore he was feeling physical pain from it all. He wanted to take it all away— all your pain.
Both your legs hung off to the side, while you practically were sitting in his lap. But neither of you cared— yes, it was intimate. But it was intimate in a different way, you both clung onto each other— escaping for a little while just in each others embrace. Being so close now, feeling each other pressed up on another— it felt right. It felt like home.
You felt one of his hands lift to the back of your head, cradling your head as his metal fingers weaves through your hair— just slightly scratching your scalp. You could feel yourself melt further into him. Your body sagging into him.
“I’ve got you (Y/n), I’m not going anywhere.” He whispered soothingly.
“I wanna hate him.” You whimpered, your fists fisting in his shirt.
His heart clenched painfully, hating that there was nothing he could do besides be here for you at the moment. But every cry and whimper only convinced him further that he was doing the right thing— the right thing by running away with you.
“Does that make me a bad person— that I wanna hate him? I want to but… but I can’t!” You cried.
Bucky shook his head, before he realized you couldn’t see him. He pulled you back away from him so he could face you— that was also when he noticed how close you were to him.
“No it doesn’t. He hasn’t been a Father to you. He hurt you— It’s okay to wanna hate him.” He assured you.
He held your gaze, waiting until you nodded to make sure you understood what you were feeling was valid.
“I really wanna hate him…” You whimpered again, trying to lower your eyes but you knew Bucky wouldn’t allow it.
He didn’t know if there was anything he could say to truly make you feel better, but he hoped that his comforting embrace was helping. Little did you know— your tight hold on him was ridding him of any and all stress.
“I know (Y/n), I know.” He breathed out.
Before he could stop himself, he was lifting his hand to stroke his thumb across her cheek— letting his palm rest on your jaw.
Your eyes fluttered shut from his touch for a second, before they opened and gazed deeply into his. His eyes shined with something unusual— something you had yet to see coming from his eyes. You felt intimidated from the intensity that was his gaze— the way your stomach fluttered nervously. You felt the same urge as before, your body leaning instinctively closer to him— you felt so safe in his arms, you couldn't help yourself from wanting to sink deeper into the ocean that was him.
"(Y/n)..." His voice broke through your trance, "Maybe we shouldn't."
God he wanted to slap himself for even voicing those words, because he so badly wanted to devour you whole— loosen every thread that was tied on you— unlocking every inch and part of you that he didn't know he craved. But the sensible side of him knew it wasn't the right moment... right?
You were so vulnerable, it felt wrong for him to even steal a glance in the wrong way when your walls were crumbled before him. He didn't want you to think for even a second that he was taking advantage of you. He respected you greatly, and he was not going to allow himself to have no self restraint. He wanted you to be in full control— and even then he felt hesitant to let you continue. The kiss on his cheek from before, he felt he hadn't deserved that— earned that. He was greedy however— and took any breadcrumbs he could.
You only darted your eyes down to his lips, watching his tongue poke out to wet them— your eyes watching the pink dampen the plump flesh. You found yourself biting your own lip— a sudden craving intensifying at the sight.
Despite your desires, you leaned forward and placed another kiss to his stubbled cheek— this time letting your lips linger on the skin longer than the last. Bucky could feel the heat rush to his face, knowing his cheeks were most likely bright red. He didn't know how he held so much power, but the feel of your lips against his cheek— god he wanted to kiss you so badly.
You sent him a small smile, and he could almost see the real you finally coming to light. The sight had his heart swelling, his own lips curving up in a cheerful smile— relived to see his girl coming back.
"Thank you James— I don't know what I'd do without you." You whispered, holding his gaze with hidden devotion. "I need you."
He had to fight back the huge smile he felt approaching from your words— he tried to ignore the bubbling joy he felt from your words. The way you needed him just as he needed you.

I kinda like the thought that TFP Ravage's personality is something along the lines of American Mcgee's Chesire Cat. Sardonic and whimsical, she does have a darkly poetic way of looking at things. Soundwave believes it's an extension of her old creator, another Cassette-Carrier.
Soundwave's sense of drama and flair was shaped by this menace of a cat.

Joel Miller Imagine
How I imagine pre outbreak Joel would treat the woman of his dreams, aka you! 😍💘
Word Count: 757
Tumblr media
Pre outbreak Joel who finally plucked up the courage to ask out his neighbour after weeks of subtle flirting over the fence.
Pre outbreak Joel who hasn't been on a date in foreeeever! He suddenly feels out of his depth, not knowing what the dating scene is like today.
Pre outbreak Joel who is stressing over every minute detail; should I clean shave or trim? Should I bring her flowers or will that be a bit too much for a first date? Should I play it cool or just be myself and hope for the best?
Pre outbreak Joel who's still a southern gent through and through, who comes to your front door (with a bunch of flowers, because... what the hell), opens the truck door when you get in (he even gave the inside a full clean so there would be no dust or residue from his work clothes), pulls your chair out at the restaurant and lets you order first.
Pre outbreak Joel who feels a surge of pride and elation swelling in his chest as your eyes light up when you arrive at the restaurant he wanted to surprise you with. It's the one you'd been dying to try for ages but just never got round to it.
Pre outbreak Joel who can't get over how stunning you look in your little black dress that hugs your shape, accentuating your curves in a sexy but classy way, who can't help but mirror your own smile as you get quite animated while talking about your interests and passions, who suddenly gets nervous and very aware of himself when you ask questions about him, hoping he can captivate you as you have him and not come across as a boring fart.
Pre outbreak Joel who offers you a taste of his meal and is delighted to see that you are comfortable enough around him to try some. You even offer him a taste of yours in return.
Pre outbreak Joel who loosens up as the evening progresses, realising you both have more in common than he could have anticipated; the same dry sense of humour, the same love of action movies, you even love playing the guitar for crying out loud!
Pre outbreak Joel who gets nervous once again as you both stroll through a nearby park later on, wanting so much to reach out and hold your hand but he refrains, not knowing if you'd appreciate it or feel uncomfortable, who feels relief flood his veins as you get closer, purposefully brushing your knuckles against his, a subtle, non verbal way of telling him you want the closeness as much as he does, who smiles as he threads his fingers through yours and feels your hand tighten around his in return.
Pre outbreak Joel who walks you to your front door, smiling like a damn fool when you gush about what a great time you had and ask him on a second date before he can ask you, who accepts eagerly and makes sure you know he also had a wonderful time.
Pre outbreak Joel who's heart is racing like a runaway train as you look into his eyes and then his lips before quickly meeting his gaze again, who may be rusty when it comes to dating but he knows exactly what you want and goddamn it!, he wants it too.
Pre outbreak Joel who throws caution to the wind and brings his palm slowly to cup your cheek (the calloused skin of his work worn hands and the soft smoothness of your cheek is a striking contrast) who leans in slowly, giving you the chance to pull away and who's heart almost bursts when you close the gap, meeting his lips in a delicate press which, after a few moments becomes more passionate as you thread your arms around his neck and his hands find their place on your hips.
Pre outbreak Joel who's just as giddy as you are when you both pull away, looking at one another as if you'd both hung the stars just for the other person, as if no one else exists, who kisses the back of your hand and tells you he can't wait for next friday night, who waits until you close your front door and hears the lock engage before he leaves your front porch with a smile that could rival the chesire cats'.
Pre outbreak Joel who knows something has shifted between you both; something huge!
Pre outbreak Joel who knows he's in trouble! 😌

A Smile Behind the Crown Chapter 2
Wonderland Au created by @endomentendo
I'm actually very nervous about this one because I wanted their interactions to be as wordless as possible. So, let me apologize if it's slow. I just hope you guys at least like it! 💜
Jax was told when he was just an itty bitty kit that he one day would find something that would want him to stick his feet to the ground. Jax dismisses that as nonsense because being not tied to the ground is the base for any Chesire worth their stripes! Him? Settle down? Don't be crazy!
He never finds something,
He finds someone,
But this someone doesn't make him want to steady himself in the ground, no. He wants to float higher than ever before. Take this one with him,
And wouldn't you know it, this someone also likes to go up with him. Even if the people around them look at him funny and not haha-funny, just... weird funny. But this one, his person, his one. Smiles at him so widely, she could pass a Chesire herself,
~ ( peice written by @it-came-from-an-orchard )
Since the day he was born, he craved something more than just contentment. The woods was his home for crying out loud! An entire field of chaos and tricks to play. Sending travellers to whatever direction he desired, not really caring if they made it to their destination. Because let's face it, who knows where they're going, really? Do you? Where are you right now? Are you happy? Where are you going? You sure you want to go that way? How about that way? Or behind you, maybe you'll prefer that path you just passed by. Maybe if you keep walking, you'll find a different path you prefer than your current one. No? Yes? Maybe? Well, at the end of the day, there's one thing to say.
If you don't know where you want to go, it doesn't matter which path you take.
And that's exactly what he saw in this little doll. Her little feet crunch on every leaf she found. She didn't seem bothered that the moonlight was her only way of seeing through the thick woods. She was just smiling and laughing as she chased the hat in the wind. Smiling just as wide as the smile behind the leaves.
“Come back!” Ann giggled and tried to tackle the hat. Nope, she missed it by a few inches. She hopped back on her little feet and didn't even bother to dust off the dirt. She just kept her smile on and chased after the hat. The glowing smile behind the leaves glowed even brighter at the sight. She didn't care where she was going, what turn or path she took, her mind was set on this one goal.
Second, after second, she finally caught up to the hat, the wind finally slowing down. She spread her arms out, ready to trap it into a hug. The moment she closed her arms around it, the hat flew straight up into the trees. She gasped in surprise and watched as the hat flew higher and higher, landing on a branch.
“Not fair!” She pouted and crossed her arms. She was so close to catching it! Oh well, she thought. Climbing trees was nothing new. She gripped onto the trunk of the tree, pulled herself up with her hands, and pushed with her feet. The smile among the leaves was amused by the sight. A little doll tearing up her dress on the branches. Not caring about how high up she went or how dirty the work was. She wanted this hat, and boy, was she gonna get it.
She reached the branch and crawled across it. Holding on tight like a cat in a tree. She reached for the hat and snatched it up quickly, holding it against her chest. She gave a loud cheer of success as she climbed back down. The smile behind the leaves couldn't help but give a small chuckle that caught the doll's attention. She gasped and looked above her, trying to see what it was. Nothing but the moonlight between the trees. She shrugged it off and skipped her way back with a chest full of pride. Only for that pride to be replaced with fear when she suddenly stopped and looked around the dark woods. What path did she come from? They all look alike, she thought. She turned her head to the left to see it was just as gloomy as to the right.
“Oh……. Where do I..….. um.” She couldn't find any words to comfort herself. She placed the hat over her head for comfort. She held onto it as she slowly kept walking forward.
The woods were silent with nothing but the sound of the wind playing with the leaves. Her heart was beating hard against her chest, creating an echo in the woods. She took a deep breath in and continued to walk, doing her best to put on a brave face. Only for it to turn into fear when she heard a snap of a twig. She gasped and looked to her side, her eyes scanning left and right. Nothing. As she walked, she felt her feet start to shake. The smallest sound of an animal was enough to make her jump. The feeling of the wind felt like it was pushing her around, making her more lost. The darkness only hid everything from her. Everything was making her heart skip in fear. Even the sound of a little giggle in the leaves.
That little giggle made her freeze. She could no longer feel her legs or feet. Her little hands clutched onto the hat as her eyes again looked to the side. Still nothing. How could there be nothing? There must be something. And that something has to be the source of that giggling. She slowly turned her head to look behind her, still nothing. Fear had taken over by now. If there was nothing to her left, right, or behind her, then where?
She slowly pulled the hat lower to hide her face, but a sudden force yanked it out of her hands. She loudly gasped, and her eyes went wide with fear. A golden light was shining on top of her. She hadn't noticed it with the hat on, but she can now see just how bright it was. She looked at her doll hands, examining the light, a hint of curiosity hitting her. What was it? It then flickered as if it blinked. It was alive! And giggling! That's when she realised she had never looked up.
With a racing heart, her head slowly lifted itself and faced the sky. And the moment she did, her sight was filled with a warm light that almost blinded her. She squinted and tried to make out what she was looking at. One, two, three, balls of light forming something. When her eyes adjusted, she was able to see it wasn't just a light but a smiling face. Her eyes fluttered in confusion, her fear slowly being taken away by curiosity.
The smile above her had the hat on what she assumed was his invisible head. She gave a small chuckle at the sight of a smile wearing a hat. She tilted her head, to which the smile mirrored. She giggled even louder and tilted her head the other way. Again, the smile tilted her direction, causing her to laugh. She had forgotten about her fear at that moment. Instead, her mind was locked on this mysterious sight. She moved her feet to slowly spin herself. To her delight, the smile did the same and followed her spinning. Her small lips formed a wide smile, almost matching his. She spun a little faster, and the smile above followed the speed. Her lips parted to reveal her baby teeth, smiling just as brightly as the one above her.
The woods were filled with giggling from the little girl as she spun and spun. The speed increased until she was in a dizzy dance with the smile above.
The world became a blur, and nothing seemed to matter at the moment. Until her toes tripped over a rock and broke the dance. The moment she landed on the ground, a cloud of dirt covered her sight. The light went away and dropped the hat over her face. She sat up, letting the hat fall on her lap. She looked up at the sky to see the smile was gone.
Disappointment filled her heart when she looked around and didn't find it. She looked back down at the empty hat and shook it as if she was spilling cookies out of a jar. Nothing came out. She turned the opening towards her and stuck her face into it as if she was trying to enter it. Her eyes were filled with a bright light casting a small gasp. She felt a little pressure against her nose, slowly pushing her head out of the hat. Her eyes widened at what she was looking at. She moved her head back to get a better look.
It was a rabbit head, a blue and purple rabbit in a hat! Her eyes looked at him in surprise before her laughter filled the woods. She kicked her feet in excitement and flipped the hat upside down. The rabbit let himself flop onto the ground, his ears covering his face for a moment. He stood on all fours and shook his ears back up, causing the doll to giggle even more. Before she could even say anything, the rabbit stood on his legs and grabbed the hat. He pulled the hat up high as she held onto it. She felt her feet leave the ground, making her legs dangle in glee.
The woods echoed with her squeals of joy as this rabbit lifted her higher. She didn't even realise that she was about 5 feet off the ground. Or she was too busy swinging her legs to even care. She looked down to see the light smiling up at her. Her eyes dilated in amazement, wondering how he was lifting the hat and below her at the same time. Before she knew it, she felt a hand grab the collar of her dress and flip her over.
She found herself sitting on the floating hat, slowly rising up. She looked up to see the branches coming closer to her. She excitedly nodded and reached up to grab the leaves. Once they were in reach, she grabbed a flower that was blooming and plucked it off. She happily looked down at the blossom that filled both her hands. She looked around to see she was still rising. Most kids would probably be scared and screaming for their parents by now. But she didn't mind one bit. She only reached out for more blossoms. Plucking them off the trees one by one. Until she had a colorful bouquet in her arms. She stuffed her face into the blooms and let the beautiful scent fill her nose.
Soon enough, she felt a bunch of leaves and branches press against her as she finally made it above the trees. She shook the leaves off her hair, a single leaf falling on the top hat. She looked down at it to see a little slug had gotten caught on the hat ride. She smiled down at it and cuffed it in her hands. Her eyes then traveled from the little one to the view ahead of her. Her eyes widened in amazement, and her mouth fell open. The little slug slowly turned as well and looked as amazed as her. The stars decorated the dark sky, creating a grand light show with their twinkling. The moon shined so brightly in a world of darkness that it was enough to make her smile. The hat rose even higher, bringing her closer to the stars. She could almost touch the birds that were taking off.
She reached her hand up, trying to grab the stars and feeling the moonlight. Her smile widened so much it nearly hurt but she didn't give it a second thought. The joy in her chest was everything at that moment. Soon enough, she felt the hat fall, causing her to grab on and hold the slug to her chest.
The wind blew against her hair, nearly ripping her bow off. She started to worry as she watched the trees below get closer and closer. She gulped down and listened to her heart racing. She shut her eyes tight and held onto her flowers and slug for safety. Suddenly, she felt a change in gravity. Her doll-like body felt lighter and the hat felt like it was flying.
She opened her eyes to see she was gliding above the trees, spinning in circles and moving up and down like a roller coaster. She didn't dare let go of the hat for she knew if she did she would fall. But at the same time, she couldn't help but smile at the sight of the trees racing below her. She was moving so fast that the blossoms in her hands left petal after petals. Creating a trail of flowers behind her.
Her gaze went from the trees to in front of her. She was greeted with that light smiling at her again. She smiled along with him as he looked at her with a mischievous grin. He studied her expressions carefully. Looking for any sign of fear or crying just like the other kids who've gotten lost. All of them screamed for help or wailed. So why wasn't this one doing the same? He tilted his head in curiosity, still keeping his smile as he raced across the air with her. The doll responded with a giggle and kept her eyes on him. He seemed taken back by this but only for a moment.
His surprise was replaced with happiness when he saw her close her eyes and focus on the feeling of the wind on her skin. She looked so happy and free, he thought. The complete opposite of every other kid he's ever met. A feeling of glee filled his chest before he disappeared and let her glide down with the hat. She let out a scream of joy as she entered the trees again and slid down the branches. The little slug in her hands raised their arms and enjoyed the ride as much as the doll.
The doll's giggles hiccuped as the hat bumped against the tree branches. The hat slid off a branch, launching the laughing girl into the air. She and the hat glided into a bush and landed safely. Ann couldn't help but fill the woods with her laughter and gasps. She kicked her legs up and swung herself into a sitting position. Her head popped out of the bushes and nearly bumped into the rabbit's head. Her smile was glued on and didn't show a single sign of falling off. Something he absolutely loved seeing.
The little rabbit boy looked behind the doll to see the hat was still in the bush. He stretched a hand over her like a cartoon and grabbed the accessory. The doll gasped in amazement and clapped at the sight of this soul's abilities. The rabbit took notice of this and decided to have some more fun. He popped the hat onto his head and gave her a wink before disappearing with the hat. The doll happily rolled out of the bush with a flop on the floor. She stood on her feet and looked around the dark woods for this new creature she found. No, creature wasn't the right word, maybe a new friend? Friend, he can be her friend! Her eyes lit up at the thought of that. She hopped out of excitement when she saw cat-like footprints near her. She knew right away they belonged to him and wasted no time in following them.
As she ran away in search for more fun, the little slug laid in the leaves, looking up at the trees. Their eyes wide with amazement at what they had just witnessed. They needed to see that again. Who knew there was a grand world beyond the woods.
The same woods that should've been eerie to the running doll. But the rush of joy she was feeling made the woods a beautiful place. The moonlight was peeking through the trees as if playing peek-a-boo. The wind was singing her a song as it rushed against her ears. She can get used to this. When the foot prints stopped, she looked up to see they traveled up a tree where the hat rested. She gave a cry of victory and started climbing, not caring that her dress was torn up.
Waiting at the branch, the rabbit peeked from under the hat and chuckled. She was so energetic, so happy, so full of life, and her smile was strong, like a wildflower growing in the fields. He liked this one, the one that showed no fear in getting her feet off the ground. The one who was mad enough to take a path many were scared of.
She had made it to the branch and tiptoed towards the hat. She lifted it up to be greeted by that smiling light again. She released a cheer so loud it traveled to the farthest part of the woods. The rabbit hopped on his feet and let out a cheer as loud as hers. He took the hat again and flew off.
Her squeals and his laughter decorated the woods. Bringing it to life as little animals peeked their heads out to see what was all the ruckus. Little moles were nearly kicked by the doll's soft feet as she raced after her new friend. Birds were knocked off their branches by a pair of rabbit ears, some on purpose just so their feathers could fall into the doll's hair. She giggled and collected the feathers in her hands before throwing them up with a chime of glee.
The night seemed endless to the two as they tossed the hat back and forth. The doll caught it in mid air and ran off laughing, knowing the rabbit was chasing after her. She jumped into a hole in a tree trunk, almost squishing the little owl inside. She smiled sweetly at it and signaled it to be quiet. Her hiding spot didn't last long when the hat was yanked out of her hands, almost pulling her out of the tree. She gave a joyous scream when the rabbit revealed his bright smile to her. She hurried out of the tree and let her hands clasp into his. Their fingers entwined as he floated her back down to the ground. She snatched the hat from his head and made a run for it.
Though her little legs didn't go far before she felt him grab the hat again and pull her back. She laughed and tugged back at the hat only for him to pull it back. Their voices filled the empty spaces between the trees, reaching the ears of anyone that might be around.
“Ann!” A familiar voice echoed in the woods. But it fell on deaf ears as the doll was laughing too much to even hear.
She spun in circles with the rabbit, both of them holding onto the hat. She happily held on tight when she felt him lift her off her feet again. She screamed in sheer happiness as the wind they created kicked up the leaves and petals around them. Creating a soft tornado of pure magic and fun. She locked her eyes with bright ones, both of them enjoying their time together and hoped it would never end.
“Ann!” The voice echoed closer. The rabbit released the hat and let the doll fall back on the ground. The little girl gasped when she landed on her feet and watched the light disappear into thin air.
Her smile didn't leave for one moment. She looked around and watched the wind die down. She expected to see cat prints, a light, or some sign of him. But nothing came. Her smile lowered a bit when she realised he was gone for sure now. She opened her mouth to call for him but was quickly swept off her feet by someone else.
“Ann!” Her father sighed in relief and held her tight. She could feel his heart beating in fear but her mind wasn't on the near heart attack she gave him. She pulled away from her dad and looked around the woods for her smiling friend.
“You found her!” her mother came in and sandwiched Ann into a hug with her father. Her mother showered her with kisses and took her into her loving arms.
“Don't run off like that, Ann,” Her father kneeled down and picked up the hat. The parents walked back to the castle with their doll in their arms. Ann didn't show any reaction to their concern. Instead, she reached up to the branches, waiting for the rabbit to take her hand again. Her hand held nothing but air. She sighed in disappointment as the castle came to view, and she went back into those walls.
“Oh good, you found her!” She heard her aunt cheer in relief. She felt her aunt's hand squeeze her shoulder and nuzzle her hair, “Oh Ann, you scared us.”
“We found her in the woods.” Her father spoke as he took her inside the castle where the party was. Ann was seated down for a feast next to her father and mother. Her aunt and grandmother sat not too far away letting Ann see her aunt's disgusted face.
“Woods, dreadful place. Filled with nasty creatures just waiting to kidnap the innocent souls that dare to wander in there.” Her aunt scoffed. She sipped her tea while the mom shook her head disapprovingly.
“The woods are home to many beautiful creatures, Susan. What about the Wonder Bug? The Blazing Bird? The Chesires!” Ann's mom chimed. The aunt, Susan, only rolled her eyes in response.
“Chesires, they're the worst of them all. Always causing trouble to others. I'm telling you, the sooner they finish building those walls, the better!” The aunt claimed.
“Oh don't be that way, Susan. Cheshires are just a bunch of children's tales. No one has seen one in the White Kingdom in centuries. Besides, if they're as bad as you say they are, they've probably been banished at the Red Kingdoms forest.” Her father debated back calmly.
Ann didn't seem to be paying attention to the adults talking. Her eyes were locked on the open doors, waiting, hoping he came in to join her. Nothing came for the entire dinner or for the rest of the party. She gave Chatter his hat back, but even he noticed Ann's sadness. Her heart felt empty for the rest of the night.
In her sleep, she could still see that smile engraved in her brain. She tossed and turned in her bed. Reaching her arms out as if trying to grab something in her dreams. Her feet kicked slightly, trying to run to what she was seeing.
She didn't stop whimpering in her sleep until the sun came up. The moment the rays hit her face, she gasped and woke up. She kicked the blankets off and ran to her balcony. Her heart was racing with hope that he was there. She pulled the curtains away to find nothing again. Just a beautiful sunrise and birds chirping. She gave a small whine of disappointment before her mom opened the door. Same routine again.
Clean, sweep, wipe, rinse, dig, eat, sleep, repeat. Day after day, it was the same. Sometimes, she had time to play with her hatter friend, but something seemed off.
“Ann? Are you ok?” Chatter served her some tea in the garden. Ann only gave a small nod with her eyes looking into the woods. It had been weeks by now, and he still hasn't shown up. Was he lost? Did he not know where she was? She only sighed in defeat and looked down at her tea cup. The rabbit had to find her at one point. Maybe he needed a little help.
She looked up at Chatter all of a sudden, her eyes locked on one thing. Chatter was taken back by her sudden stare and looked around nervously, “Is…… is something the matter, Ann?”
Ann didn't respond with words. She snatched his hat off his head and ran off. Chatter didn't even get mad. If anything, he was curious what she was doing. He ran after her as fast as he could. He almost lost her when she zoomed up the stairs of the castle and slammed the door open to her room. Ann wasted no time and ran to her balcony. She grabbed a scarf on her way out and tied it around the hat.
“What are you doing?” Chatter watched the little doll throw the hat as high as she could. Only for it to glide down and off the balcony. She grunted in disappointment and pulled the hat back up with the scarf. She threw it up again only to gain the same results. She did it again, and again, and again. Until her arms felt numb and the sun began to set. Chatter was fast asleep on the couch in her room, snoring away. The door to Ann's room opened up, and her aunt peeked in to see her niece on the balcony.
“Bedtime sweetie.” Her aunt chimed gently. She picked her niece up, causing her to let go of the hat.
Ann kicked her feet, trying to get set free, but her aunt didn't budge. She placed Ann in her nightgown and set her down to tie her hair with a bow. Ann just sulked in her chair, not even daring to look into the mirror. Her aunt took notice of this and sighed.
“Ann, is something wrong? You've been like this for almost a month now. Sulking around and looking up as if waiting for something to drop from the sky.”
Her aunt looked at the girl's face through the mirror, but she still didn't look up. Susan could only sigh again, gently wrapping the ribbon around her niece's brown hair. She felt a cold wind enter the room, almost brushing the curtains against her back.
She shivered at the feeling and glanced at the mirror for a moment. Only for her eye to widen and glance back up. A small shadow was peeking through the curtains from the balcony. The aunt's heart raced, and she looked at her niece, who was still looking down. In a panic, her aunt lifted Ann off the chair and placed her into her bed, trying to act calm.
“Good night, sweetie.” her aunt smiled and kissed her forehead. Ann smiled up in response before fluttering her eyes closed. Susan looked down at the little girl with her own smile for a few minutes. When she was sure the girl was asleep, she got on her feet and rushed to the balcony. She swept the curtains open. Nothing was there.
She hummed suspiciously and looked around, not leaving a single inch of the balcony unseen. Once sure it was empty, she closed the glass doors and shut the curtains. Only to feel her heart sink down to her stomach when she saw the little shadow behind the curtain. She opened the curtains to see there was nothing there again. She closed them, and this time, the little shadow was gone. She didn't understand what she had just seen, but she wasn't gonna dwell on it.
She shook her head, thinking it was a trick of the moonlight, and locked the balcony door. She laid down on a cushion chair and drifted to sleep, not planning on leaving her niece alone tonight.
After an hour or so, the doorknob to the balcony jiggled. The soft sound filled the room but wasn't enough to wake anyone up. Eventually, the jiggling stopped and left the room in silence. Soon, a new sound filled the room.
Tap……. tap…… tap
The light sound danced in the air to a rhythm.
Tap…. Tap… tap
The sound came a little faster.
Tap, tap, tap
And even faster, causing the three inside to squirm in their sleep. The tapping suddenly stopped as if trying to avoid waking all three up. Soon, the curtains in the room parted, letting in what seemed like nothing. Though the moonlight on the ground revealed a rabbit-like shadow walking around the room. The shadow stood beside the sleeping aunt for a good moment, as if studying her every feature and movement. A light giggle was heard before the shadow disappeared into a dark corner where the desk was. The ribbons and brushes moved aside, and drawers opened as if looking for something.
After a while, the bed with the sleeping girl shook a bit. The blankets covering the girl's face and shoulder were pulled off gently, leaving her cold. She shivered a bit and turned from her side onto her back.
Only to suddenly feel something land on her face. The force was enough to wake her up and sit up from her bed. Ann looked at her blanket to see that the hat was the culprit of waking her up. She tilted her head, confused at how the hat even got into her room. That's when she heard it.
Her little feet swung off the bed, and her arms twirled in the air at the sound. A little tap at the glass window. Tapping over and over again, followed by a small jingle he did when he nodded his head. Her thin lips smiled at the sound. She instantly knew who was outside her balcony. He had found her, winning their game of hide and seek after a month of waiting.
She pulled open the curtains to see nothing, but she knew there was something. She unlocked the doors and swung them open before running onto the balcony. Her smile was back on, and her heart was racing in excitement. She looked to her left and right rapidly, trying to find him. She still didn't see him but she knew he was here. She could feel the light breeze he caused when he was around. She could hear his giggling! He was here!
She breathed in and out of excitement. She would've fainted from excitement if she didn't notice one thing. The light shining down on her. Her eyes widened in joy when she noticed it. She gazed up at the stars, and just like last time, his smile greeted hers.
“Found you.” he spoke to her. A small, playful voice belonging to a trickster. A voice that filled her heart with joy and excitement. A voice she wanted to hear every night.
