I saw your post about Saga and I 100% agree. I love her character so much and was so happy they avoided stereotypes AND gave her agency. She wasn't there just to save Alan (the horrid magical black person troupe was avoided) she was there for people who meant something to her and they just so happen to work together by the end. Remedy truly wrote a fascinating character and got a great actress to portray her. I'm glad the hate died out from the reactionaries but the apathy from the fandom is just as bad sometimes. I love her personality and I honestly love AnderCase as a ship and incorporating Saga into ships (AndercasexWake is a thing for me lol). I also like them as friends, their dynamic is so damn good I want to see them in future games. However, I gave up writing Andercase because people just ignore it most of the time. The fandom in general kind of feels isolating if you don't like the standard ships/characters. It's discouraging and sad and makes it hard to want to post. I tried again and of course the fic did poorly so I don't bother, reminds me how little people want anything to do with Saga. Even general fics would be awesome if people are squicked by het or don't like Saga and Casey as a ship. The fan space for her and ships/dynamics with her is so small...Drawing her is scary too given someone was attacked over it, so that worries me too and I kind of backed away. There's barely anything of Saga in any fanworks and when women are involved they gravitate to Rose and in some cases Estevez (the Yakuza mod just broke my heart they did not think to add Saga before Rose who has less time and at a point people shipped Casey with Estevex BEFORE Saga like WHAT). I know that struggle you're feeling. Saga and anything with her is a footnote and I know it's not malicious but it sucks. Fandom favoritism does not help, even in the smallness of Saga fandom content only a handful are seen and the rest ignored. I've been there and seen it, it pushes newcomers away. I hope this gets better in the future but not holding my breath. Love Remedyverse/Remedy but the fandom space depresses me which sucks because everyone seems nice to me, just...sorry for the rambling. Just saw a post that resonated with my frustrations.

Do you know the thing that gets me the most about Saga? She was created by a white man. And he, along with the other writers, made SURE to avoid the stereotypes we usually get in black women protags, especially in video games. She has a power, yes, but she's not using it solely to save one person. She doesn't even know she HAS a power until halfway through the game!

She wants to save her daughter first and foremost and then Casey, she tells Alan this point-blank, save my daughter and Casey, non-negotiable, she's NOT helping him otherwise. And you can see that as selfish, but it's not, if it had JUST been herself thrown into the story? She would've been FINE with it, you see her getting more and more excited about the case. She's intrigued EVERY step of the way. It only becomes personal when Alan has the audacity to use Logan and Casey, that's her line in the sand.

Melanie puts so much into making Saga come alive, because as amazing as the writing is, she could've still fallen into the sassy black woman trope, and Melanie doesn't let that happen. I think the ONLY criticism you can give her is that her accent slips, but I really never noticed it. I agree that I'm glad the hate from the dumbass gamer bros, but like you said, the apathy can be just as bad, it's a choice to not say the quiet part outloud.

I genuinely wish they'd just say, she's a black woman, therefore, I'm not interested in her. I only care about the white men. At least be HONEST about it, instead of raving about how fun it was to play as Saga and she's so badass but not backing it up with actions.

I love Andercase with every fiber of my being. I loved them from their first scene, despite knowing she was married to somebody else. Casey is Saga's support, you see her loving to crack her puns to Casey, she even thinks of one and saves it to memory solely to tell it to Casey. Not Logan, not David, but Casey.

They mirror each other, again from their first scene, drinking coffee at the same time. A trait they keep, even as the horror story creeps closer. Casey wouldn't be even a little bit interesting to me if he wasn't paired with Saga. He's the moon and she's the sun.

I'm so sorry you were discouraged to write and post about Andercase, even just as besties. Because their dynamic IS gold, and it echoes even when they're separated. The second Kiran shows up and kicks Saga off the case, she gets over it, fine, she'll deal, but help her find her partner, damnit! I've enjoyed fics where they are just besties, the ones that ACTUALLY focus on them and, you know, doesn't make Saga the driving force for CaseyWake and nothing else.

I think that's one of the reasons it's hard for me to ship Saga and FBI Casey with anyone else, because they're each other's closest interactions for so much of the game. It's hard for me to ship Alan with them because I see him and Saga as the true platonic soulmates of the AW2 cast and Casey HATES Alan. All the way up the ending of the final draft. You can see it in his expression and body language, if he hadn't just been through the wringer and so happy to see Saga, he definitely would've punched Alan for all he shit he's put them through.

Writing a pairing you love, feeling so proud and happy about the work you've done, just to see it brushed aside is one of the most painful feelings as a creator. Fandom is supposed to be for EVERYONE, it's not supposed to be high school cliques that can't interact with each other. I don't ship Alan with Saga's Casey (it's just the only way I see him, heh), but I've seen some AMAZING fan art for them that's made me smile. But you rarely see Saga involved, which makes no sense in regards to her Casey. If it was fictional Casey, that would make sense, he doesn't exist outside of Alan's head, while Saga's Casey is a living, breathing person who spends most of his time with Saga or talking about her.

Yet she's relegated to the bro when her Casey and Alan only have her in common. I can't buy Casey being soft and domestic with Alan to save my life. I see it with Saga, I can see Saga being soft with Alan because she does show that side to him. That's who she is, if you've earned her trust and respect. You can tell Saga is always the "good cop" while Casey is the "bad cop." The only time you see him sympathetic towards Alan is when he first washes up to shore. He's mocking him but holding his tongue because Saga's not going to take that nonsense from him.

You only see Casey show the full force of his anger towards Alan when Saga isn't there to stop him. To say "Yes, THAT'S the actual love story here" is a...choice, one that actively ignores the on-screen narrative. Again, fictional Casey and Alan are a completely different topic and not something I care enough to write about.

NOBODY should be attacked for liking a pairing because what does that do? What does it accomplish except make yourself feel better and superior? Again, it's been a choice to ignore the two main women in the series, which are Alice and Saga. But I've seen quite a few fics where Alice gets to be paired with CaseyWake, while you'll be hard-pressed to find a fic where Saga gets to interact with them. That tells me something that makes me uncomfortable. And that's covert racism.

You can't even make the excuse that there's nothing left to learn about Saga, because that's simply untrue. We know the bare minimum about her family on the Anderson side, and absolutely nothing concerning her father (who is Warlin Door and I will die on that hill). We don't know much about her created family, certainly nothing about David, outside of the fact he likes Bright Springs, and boardgames and doesn't take his daughter to get checked out after she hits her head in the shower. The fact her entire identity ISN'T just Logan's mother and David's wife means so much to me.

You can't tell me it's because she's married either, because how can you say that in one breath and then ship Alan with anyone but Alice in the same breath? It genuinely leads me to think it's simply that she's a BLACK woman. And as you said, seeing people create ships for Rose and to pair Estevez with CASEY, when she's an out-and-out lesbian that Casey only meets near the end of the game speaks volumes.

I genuinely think if you swapped her race, she would be less ignored, and that's extremely fucked up. Saga was created with so much love, care, and respect. A black woman protag that we could get behind and feel represented by. A smart, strong, caring badass, who still retains her femininity, but who has an identity outside of "mother" even though saving her daughter is her driving force, it's not her only one. She cares about her newly found grandfather and great-uncle. She cares about Rose, despite the woman irritating her in the beginning. She worries for the residents of the nursing home. She has mixed feelings towards the CULT. And of course, her secondary concern is Casey. And once she sees how hard Alan is trying, she comes to care for him as well. Why else tell him he's a hero when she has every right to hate him more than anyone else in the game?

She cares about these people she's met, and she knows they deserve to be saved. And Alan is the first to admit he can't do ANY of it without Saga. If the main character of the series acknowledged Saga, why can't the fandom?

I truly hope that you can find the courage to try again with Andercase, or just Saga in general. Because I'm seeing that there are people that love her, and maybe they're not content creators but consumers, and that's now one of my motivations. To feed their hunger because they're part of the fandom too, and they shouldn't be ignored. I promise you, you'll have a fan in me. And sometimes, just one person knowing they love what you create and how they look forward to it is enough. I'm not interested in a popularity contest. You'll never see me in ship wars. I'm here for FBI Special Agent Saga Anderson. This is her story too, to make her the footnote in fanworks is terribly egregious and goes against the very thing Remedy wanted.

So Sapnap and George can be seen in modern mirrors but what about photos? In some stories it´s said that vampires won´t show on photos so now I wonder ... does Dream ever try to take a selfie with these 2 and George and Sapnap are just not there or it´s just their clothes seeming floating around?

I think it was mentioned that after argument or something Dream puts on lot of silver jewelry because vampires hate that. And I´m sorry if this was already answered and I forgot, but how do Sap and Gogy react to this? Also does Dream put on just enough to keep them from biting or does he go overboard putting on ridiculous amount of jewelry just cuz he can and it´s kinda fun walking around the house with enough silver on him that these 2 assholes don´t even dare to come close? I know I promised it half a year ago at this point but I do want to introduce other vampires that snf are friends with (cough cough they're from the munchymc crew). honestly I didn't put much thought into other supernaturals? the only one that I am 100% sure of is that Techno is a werewolf (or a wereboar. let me indulge). as of the others I think it would be nice to include fairies, as you can guess it'd be Tina, Sylvee and/or Hannah, but I don't really know what I'd do with them in the AU, so this is more of just a loose idea than a promise

I didn't think about it before, but it's probably because silver (or more specifically, silver bromide/AgBr) was used in photography back in the day. given that the images are processed digitally nowadays, they would not have this problem, though the image of that is really funny. (and, to be entirely honest right now, the selfie of them that I drew was supposed to be a window reflection. if you've taken one of those two-storey trains they make for amazing 'mirror selfie' places)

i was going to comment on one of your recent fics (which i kinda liked) until i saw the abrasive author's note berating people for bookmarking without commenting. you don't know why people bookmark things - for many people, it's equivalent to a recs list. just like fic readers aren't entitled to receive fics, fic authors aren't entitled to receive feedback. i'm saying this as both a fic writer and a reader (both long-term, so i have plenty of experience dealing with a lack of feedback). there are many many reasons why readers choose to leave comments (or not), and as a writer you'll be much more content if you can make peace with the fact that there's very little you can do to change that, and instead encourage the commenters that you do get. it sucks, but it is what it is. desperate and abusive author's notes, however, do turn people off. ps: i asked if you read others' fics because i find it hard to believe that you yourself leave a comment on every single fic you read and fanart you reblog. i'd be happy to be proven wrong, but my point still stands - i understand the desire for more comments, but you're going about it the wrong way.

I don't do it with fanarts because I reblog them compulsively, what I do instead is leave anon messages in the artists' inbox. Although I also leave comments sometimes!

"Abusive" is a strong term, I'm just getting creative because you people are exhausting, as simple as that. As I said in the post I linked (again, read it, thanks) you're all so used to tiktok and such that you think it's okay if people who give you stuff you like for free never get to know your opinion. Wrong. We're humans. We deserve to know what you think. It's the bare minimum.

I'm tired of all that "OMG that fic broke me, I wish I had someome to talk about it with" because we authors are right fucking there.

We are entitled to receive feedback. I've been posting fics for nine fucking years - on an Italian website first, then on AO3 with a different acc that I then deleted, and then with my current one - and reading them for just as long. So excuse me for wanting feedback, excuse me for noticing how the readers' attitute towards giving feedback has shifted now that you're all on tiktok/insta 24/7 constantly bombarded with content that only takes you 10 secs to consume and makes you think "Yeah okay, I can't leave a comment on each and every thing I consume, it'd take longer to leave the comment than to consume the content." (and it's true, like, I know it is)

And trust me, this "if you read without bookmarking you're a jerk" thing is new, check my other fics (I posted over 100 works, but as you can see I only have 40-something now because I delete them compulsively, sorry, orphaning fics isn't for me) and even if you go check the oldest ones (I think the fist fics I posted with my current ao3 acc are from late 2019?) I never said anything. But I'm tired and annoyed. I talked to multiple people here who told me that they'd never thought about this thing until I (and others) shared our honest opinion on it, so, I guess you're kinds on your own in this holy crusade of yours against common decency. Beaujester for the ask meme?

when I started shipping it if I did: It was part of my broad multishipping during the Xhorhas/Angel of Irons arc in the sense of "whoever Jester is happiest with"; I started losing interest ironically around the time Beau revealed her crush and Yasha immediately came back after, and my general end-game shipping (ie...not this ship) solidified on Rumblecusp.

my thoughts: Really, my feelings regarding both of the major Jester ships that didn't happen are: this might have happened had the character (Beau in this case) expressed their feelings to Jester, but they didn't, so it didn't; and all the major Jester ships, including Fjorester, had some amount of the characters misunderstanding or inadvertently hurting each other, because the Nein were all a bunch of people with a lot of hang-ups, so using that as an argument for or against any one ship is useless; what matters is if they ever bothered to resolve it.

What makes me happy about them: This is a weird question to ask for a ship that didn't happen and that I stopped shipping but I guess what I liked about them is that they had a lot of great conversations during the late pirates/Xhorhas arc.

What makes me sad about them: This is because I love conflict and also people growing from having difficult conversations but I really do wish they'd had some kind of honest discussion about how they both (Beau especially, but Jester did this a bit, notably with Beau's father) tended to assume their own experiences about the other when in fact they did have quite different upbringings? Like, they each handled the meeting with the other's father very much from their own perspective (ie, Beau was like "tell your father to fuck off" even though Jester very much wanted a relationship with The Gentleman and was clearly devastated, Jester was like "I think your father is trying" when Beau's father was a gaslighting fuck [who tbf probably was just repeating a cycle but you know. Maybe try to end familial curses if you're going to go make bets with a hag.]), and Beau held a real grudge towards Artagan that persisted into Aeor. I wish they'd had a chance to talk about it. Honestly postcanon maybe they do.

things done in fanfic that annoys me: I mentioned this in my posts about Imogen and Laudna yesterday but just the whole "Jester is a naive girl who knows nothing and Beau teaches her the Ways of Love" is such a turn-off. Like I don't know why this dynamic is ever interesting to people; it unequivocally sucks. Also. There is so much reliance in the fanon depiction of the ship on Jester not realizing she liked girls until meeting Beau and like again I cannot stress this enough: her mother sees clients of all genders, the Menagerie Coast is like "sail boats and be whatever gender and sexuality you want, just please don't be a pirate or worship the betrayer gods outside of the privacy of your own home"; and if you think Artagan is reinforcing compulsory heterosexuality and traditional gender roles I do not know what to say to that.

things I look for in fanfic: I don't really look for this ship in fanfic because honestly pretty much all of what I saw was the stuff that annoys me.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: I mean, I prefer the ships that did happen, so Fjord for Jester and Yasha for Beau.

My happily ever after for them: Honestly I feel like they've got it? They're both with partners that suit them a lot better and they talk almost every day.

She's the baby of the group since she's 16 when the story starts and relationships aren't important to her yet

But the crew still support her when later she's like "maybe I just wanna bake things for a cute girl and let her put flowers in my hair is that too much to ask" (Marian always chimes in with "mood")

First off he absolutely knew that Fred wasn't 100% straight he had no idea how it wasn't immediately obvious to everyone

That said Pierce literally did not give a shit who knew about his sexuality

As shitty as his whole personality was he could turn on the charm easily

His parents definitely knew but he was already a punk ass rebellious teen at the time so they have him the "be careful, don't get anyone pregnant" talk and worried from afar. If it bothered them, Pierce never knew because they made sure that he could still count on them (even though at the time Pierce didn't really talk to them much about anything)

Fred absolutely knew though I mean they were good friends

He's not a romantic. He's never really had a meaningful relationship because he's not that type of person. To be honest, there's a piece of him that saw relationships that worked and wondered how that would feel but he knew that wasn't for him. He figured that out way early on when he asked his granddad why he didn't have a grandma and Mortimer Graves didn't sugarcoat the answer. "She wasn't happy with me. I gave her the choice. She could stay and be miserable with my lack of a decent personality even though I was already struggling to not be such an ass or she could go and find someone who actually made her happy. She chose happiness, and while it sucks that she drifted out of my life and your dad's, she's better off."

Pierce could frankly always tell that he was more like his granddad and as much as he sometimes wanted to know if he could even out up with a meaningful relationship, he avoided it. Better to not hurt anyone and wonder than to become the catalyst for someone else to overcome, right?

The shy bumbling mechanic of the early 90s Freddy's ? Gay? It's more likely than you think

He was still far in the closet in the 90s He was young, living at home still because he had just gotten out of school, and while his parents weren't super conservative, he also didn't know how they'd take it

Found a friend in the day guard Mike Schmidt early on. Mike was looking for a roommate since his last one had moved out and Fritz jumped at the chance

They are like totally boyfriends by the time they cameo in the story though

Mostly invited Fritz to live at his apartment because he felt bad that this poor shy mechanic was getting constantly harangued about the animatronics having problems

Was glad to let Fritz complain about it and even cry it was very stressful but Fritz needed the money

Mike didn't ask him out till much later though he wasn't quite sure that Fritz was gay and didn't want to ruin their friendship.

Luckily it didn't and as it turns out they worked well in a relationship.

Fritz's parents had to take some time to get used to it when finally Fritz got the nerve to tell them but as soon as they did there was no end of support from them

Mike's parents were the opposite which was mainly why he already lived by himself but oh well he got a cute boyfriend and cool parents-in-law later it was kind of a win

-as mentioned last night Dr. Phillip Guy is on the ace spectrum. I don't have anymore details about that at the moment unfortunately.

-Charlie Emily is a lesbian. The Emily twins were born in 1980. They haven't appeared in the AU yet even as cameos but they exist. Considering in AU canon the Emily family is alive and well in Hurricane, Utah without an Afton to be found, Charlie's dating her childhood friend Jessica at around the time the AU events are happening.

-Sammy Emily is trans and bi. Both Henry and his wife (who I know I at one point named but don't remember what it is anymore) love their two daughters to pieces.

That said I'll make a post at a later point introducing the Emily family because so far I've only officially given the design for Henry and not the rest.

In line with canon, Spring Bonnie/Springtrap can be counted as gay.

While Fred kept the shows at the diner pretty simple and straightforward, there was definitely this subtle underlying idea that Spring Bonnie and Fredbear were a content gay couple although if asked it was easy to present them as friends. At least, that was during '81-'82

However!

Fred also had Henry help him program in a special one time only song called Springtime for his and Maddie's anniversary in 1983, which was of course a love song. Fred always thought of that as being mostly for his wife, and partially as a turning point thematically for the two characters.

Henry was on board with this. They still kept it subtle, but there were clear moments where it was pretty much certain that the only way to interpret Spring Bonnie and Fredbear was as a couple. It was either so subtle that no one was bothered or Spring Bonnie's chosen voice was so ambiguously non-binary that no one thought it was odd.

Fred had plans for it to become more "canon" but never got to implement them since Spring Bonnie got damaged before he could.

Springtrap, being sentient and able to later interpret his emotions, is very confused about how he as a machine was meant to feel about this character he knew but the more sentient he becomes the more aware he is that he misses Fredbear and that he loved him. It's the cause of a lot of internal conflict for him. But he can be counted in the category of LGBT characters in the AU.

Rjps decision had nothing to do w promotion and how they are treated. He got all the promotion for s1. It's annoying that others are getting the promo instead of Simone but rjp is the last thing we need back on this show. I can't with people who'd think themselves above a woman's literature. And I think the fandom has from time and again made it clear that we have made peace with his leave and we are happy. Only wish Phoebe got her rightful promo too in s1 but hoping the best for Simone and johnny

No I know, I'm not referring to him not getting promo after the success of s01 nor am I arguing to bring him back 😂 Just wondering if wanting to cut all ties with the show may have had to do with not getting on with the producers rather than him wanting to distance himself from the show for being too lowbrow after all. I don't know, the s02 promo has been so incredibly disrespectful to Simone and Jonny that I'm starting to appreciate Regé and Phoebe much more now, at least they were actually the stars and the ones that attracted viewers.

And since the two of them are the blueprint, I've been thinking of how things turned out for them to get an idea of it could go for Simone and Jonathan after s02.. And if I'm perfectly honest I wouldn't blame Simone one bit if she just left them high and dry after s02 and never came back for a single cameo. As much as I'd love to have Kate as a recurring character for the rest of Bridgerton I'd cheer her on. She probably can't because she's bound by a contract, but they'd 100% deserve it after the way she's been sidelined. Let them keep their show afloat with side characters in the front pages.

Phoebe came back after starring in season one and they didn't even do her the courtesy of including her in the posters of the show, while the same cast that is now prioritised over Simone and Jonny got all the promo they could during Phoebe's season. If Simone and Jonathan are to come back next season after audiences love them and get that treatment....I just don't want them to. They deserve better.

Btw to be fair when it comes to the s01 promo: because of the shitshow that's been Jimone’s PR, I did some digging to compare and contrast and it doesn't really seem like Regé and Phoebe got much promo pre s01 either. There was their Vogue photoshoot like four days before the show dropped? And another one that was an ensemble cast of the women of the show, kinda like the Tatler one for Simone. But that's pretty much it (correct me if I'm wrong and there was more, that's what I came across). The rest came after the success of the show and as a result of it.

Basically the difference is that while s01 not getting much pre release promo sucks, it was a new show so it makes sense that they wouldn't land dozens of publications. S02 was a very different case because after the enormous success of the first season they had access anywhere they wanted and they chose to use the publicity on side characters rather than their leads.
