Public service reminder: I love y'all for your support in what I do here, but (a very gentle but) I want to make it clear that this isn't the way-
Tumblr media
Names are censored for obv privacy reasons and I don't want to put any of my own readers on blast because I trust comments like these are made with good intention. I appreciate y'all for loving what I do here and putting it out there for others to read along, but I don't do it for this. As much as Rekindled is indeed a parody redraw of LO that's trying to "fix" a lot of the original comic's issues, at the end of the day it's still just a Tumblr project that I'm doing here for fun and I don't want to see it used as ammunition in the comments sections dedicated specifically to LO (for clarification, this was in the @webtoonofficial announcement post for LO winning its third Eisner).
Whether or not it's "better" than LO is subjective and irrelevant. I obviously can't pretend like I didn't have my own motivations to "fix" what I felt was broken, but the act of "fixing" was for those of us who saw it as broken, not for those who love LO as is.
I also can't reasonably ask anyone to keep their opinions about Rekindled to themselves, it's a piece of work that is publicly available and therefore that will put it under the lens of public opinion, but from me to you, this ain't the way. I host it on Tumblr and DH precisely to keep it out of the main view of the fans/stans, because this work isn't for them, it's for all of you who share my disappointment in the original series. I want to be able to run this space free of any extreme fandom discourse - this is also why you won't see me using general LO tags on Tumblr/IG - but the only way that can happen is if we all play nice and don't let the heat of the discourse get to us. Rest assured, I will always stand by my work and what I do here because I love it and have found my lost joy in what LO used to mean to me through it as well as a community of amazing writers and creators... but prevention is better than the cure and I don't want any of that heat getting thrown back my way through weaponizing of my work with or without my knowing in the first place.
Am I pissed about the comic's third win? Absolutely. And as much as I feel it isn't worth anyone's time or energy to get into bickering matches with the stans in these comment sections, those opinions regarding the comic pre-exist my participation in this fandom and would have, one way or another, hit that boiling point regardless (and it's been wild to watch that comment section go down, I can't lie lmao) But this is not the way. Rekindled is - to me, and hopefully to you, too - a reclaiming of the love and passion people like myself used to have for LO, and a celebration of Greek myth and transformative fiction as a genre, above everything else it stands for or could be interpreted as. It's not a weapon meant to be used in discourse. Let's please do our best to be mindful of that so we can keep having fun in this special little space we've carved for ourselves and not make ourselves into the monsters we're often made out to be just for critically discussing and transforming a piece of media that, in spite of all its flaws, brought us together in the way that it did. Let's keep being the best for each other instead of turning ourselves into the worst over others within this massive fandom who we were never going to agree with in the first place.
Thank you all, much love 💖 Do no harm, take no shit ✊️

Always embarrassing to like smth people are saying sucks (and scary in case you watch it and end up agreeing with them) so that's why I'm on anon but I strongly disagree with the people saying Code Geass is fun but not good (paraphrased badly). It IS a fantastic show actually. Here's my very long essay about why you should watch it.
I got my brother interested in rgu by comparing it to Code Geass bc it's his favorite show. You'll be disappointed if you're expecting them to be actually similar, bc they're not really, but they have a similar tone in that it switches rapidly between Serious Plot and Touga Punches a Kangaroo. There's an episode where they have to chase a cat and that's what they do that day. The plot isn't all that similar and the comedy isn't all that similar but it's similarly inconsistent in swapping between the two. And I would argue that it doing this is thematically relevant, bc it's a double life show. Lelouch has his alter ego as Zero and when he's Zero everything feels different to when he's Lelouch. School life is just stupid in comparison, and he's constantly frustrated by it. His school life is pretty much just a humiliating liability, but he can't easily abandon it, so he just has to live with the fact that in between fighting in giant robots he has go to pizza parties (sponsored by Pizza Hut tee em) and whoops! It's Valentine's Day so everyone in the school has to wear heart hats and if a girl knocks off his hat they get to kiss him!!! And he's forced to take that seriously even though he knows how dumb it is and would much rather be commanding robots.
Now look. I do have to warn you. There is a part where he says if he wins the revolution he's gonna make the United States of Japan. That part isn't good. I want you to know I know that part is bad. The politics of this show are Not Always Great. HOWEVER. When I was watching, the main thing that compelled me politically about it was the contrast between Suzaku as the person who wants to Change Things From the Inside vs Lelouch who wants to actually just shoot the people who are oppressing you. Suzaku sucks and the show knows it and I like the show knowing it.
I'm not gonna argue this is a show with generally good politics, but it's not a show that actually cares a whole lot about, like, how a country should be run. The bad guys say fascist shit about like the strong ruling over the weak and the natural order, and they're racist against Japanese people, and the good guys want. I dunno, Freedom. Democracy. United States of Japan. They're bad guys and good guys. That's not what the show is about. The show is about the specific motivations of our important characters. Lelouch talks about wanting Japan to be free or whatever but he makes it very clear from the beginning that the Only thing he Actually cares about is creating a world where his little sister can be happy. And later on you find out what the evil emperor guy is trying to do too (although it's kinda more abstract and weird. Arguably another point of comparison between this and rgu, when it cares more about themes than about telling you What's Actually Happening). I guess I shouldn't act like the political positions of the two sides are irrelevant, but I really don't think it's the focus. Lelouch's politics are My Sister and secondarily I suppose Free Japan if I have time. Suzaku's politics are Free Japan but also you have to be niceys to the government and do what they say bc they're in charge :). The freedom fighters' politics are Free Japan. The Brittanian's politics are We Do What We Want. It's not gonna be a realistic depiction of a good revolution bc the writers didn't know anything about those.
And here I suppose I have to say that I last watched it probably years ago when my politics were worse, so maybe the politics are generally worse than I remember. But my point is you should treat the specific politics stuff like you treat the chess stuff. No one in the writers' room knew how to play chess. They probably didn't bother to watch someone play chess before writing it. When Lelouch says you should move your king first bc "how can a king expect his subjects to lead if he stays back and does nothing" laugh at it and take it as a thematic statement about Lelouch's beliefs. When he says United States of Japan laugh at it and. Well I suppose that one isn't even thematic. You see what I mean though.
Another warning is that there's a specific Very Important plot point that doesn't really make sense and feels really dumb and cheap. That specific thing genuinely does undermine a lot of the show, because it happens kinda suddenly and is very serious and the whole rest of the show is majorly impacted by it and it's very difficult to ignore that that Doesn't Make Sense At All. And you're supposed to be really upset and like. It just doesn't make sense. The second time I watched it it didn't feel as egregious as the first time but the first time I think I almost stopped watching. My advice is to do your best to pretend it makes sense bc I think the results of that thing are actually interesting.
Generally, I think that's the important thing to remember actually. Maybe that's my thesis. Of the essay. Yeah, that sounds smart. Code Geass is a show that doesn't always make total sense, and even when it mostly makes sense it's frequently Really Dumb, so like I can see why people might come away with the impression that it's just a silly nothing show where robots fight and he says United States of Japan. But genuinely I think there's a lot to get from it thematically if you can take it just seriously enough to see what it's trying to do.
There's more I kinda wanna say but I think I need to text my mom back and I can't save asks as drafts. Um um last two points, first, how much you like the show probably depends at least a little on your tolerance for Anime Geniuses knowing everything and pulling bullshit, I don't think Lelouch is as bad in that department as Light Yagami but smth to consider. And second don't watch the movies. The movies suck.
honestly anon i'm genuinely charmed by your sheer passion for this. it feels like it's mirroring me when i defend my fave flawed media including me with fma 03 tbh. like YES it sucks the politics suck but IT IS compelling. that's the kind of shit i enjoy most, ngl. you've made your case convincingly. i think what i really hate is when people claim something is The Most Perfect Thing Ever and then you watch it and it's dogshit in a number of ways that people absolutely refuse to acknowledge and definitely some code geass fans are Like That but also your talking about it kinda echoes how some friends i trust have been talking about it too. i think i'm still gonna go in with low expectations if/when i do watch it, mostly bc that allows me to be pleasantly surprised by something the series DOES do well.
also i grew up on 2000s shounen and seinen. my tolerance for anime bullshit is extremely high as long as i'm into what it's doing thematically or character wise tbh

alright last of us ep 1 thoughts! some spoilers for both games, sorry
i expected this to be good (the game seems like a natural port to tv) and was not disappointed, i quite enjoyed myself. i'd be very curious to see/hear more reaction from viewers who don't already know the story inside out, as that is obviously the target audience (nothing wrong with that) but it's a different perspective to someone coming at it as a fan of the game
pedro pascal as joel is great. this is an easy sell to me in part because i'm somewhat ambivalent to game joel anyway, lol, but i feel a bit more fondness towards tv joel already. uh, more on that later
bella ramsey is good. it will take me longer to warm up to his ellie, because i am more attached to game ellie. this was always going to be the hardest role to cast because finding an actual teenager to carry this role was going to be hard. there are some moments where i feel like i can See the acting, which is distracting -- but there were other moments i quite liked their delivery, so i think i will settle into it as time goes on. the moment where ellie asks about the code and then, later, lies about the 80s song on the radio was the moment where they really clicked for me as ellie, so i'm looking forward to more bits like that.
the stand-out here for me was actually nico parker as sarah. sarah is a sweet but ultimately little beyond a prop in the game; here we got to know more of her, parker's performance was great, and the mounting dread as we follow sarah through the day and see hints of things amiss around her was excellent. it's interesting how much i was on the edge of my seat the entire prologue even though i knew exactly what would happen
marlene i'm so thrilled you manifested out of my playstation to be here you're beautiful. have you and kim explored each other's bodies
huge win for the joel/tess people LOL. i like tess a lot in game, and this is a different variation on the character, i think. they've softened her a bit -- i liked her lying to robert about how it's not an issue and she'll totally just let it slide, and the reveal of course that she didn't mean that lmao... but i hope we get to see her be a bit more ruthless in ep 2, or i'll feel this character lost something from the source. the entire robert subplot in-game is just a gunplay tutorial, and getting it all out of the way to get to business faster is an improvement, narratively, for a tv show.
but they've softened everyone so far, including joel. wanting a battery to go find his brother is a much nobler and sympathetic goal than being ripped off on arms he was trying to smuggle. this has pros and cons. obviously a pro is it's easier to like joel here; a con is what this will mean for the future of the character/season, when joel will be having to do some pretty brutal things, and presumably be pretty cold to ellie for quite some time. i also keep thinking of that moment in part 2 where dina is like, who would want to hurt joel? and ellie is like uh half the people who met him. "we're shitty people joel" is a good and definitive moment in game, one of the kinds of scenes i consider a thesis statement on the characters -- does it still hold up with this tess + joel? if it doesn't, how does the show adjust?
tbc i guess!!
misc other thoughts:
i wonder why we changed the outbreak to 2003... i assume it's so that "20 years later" means the main action is taking place in 2023. but it's not "our" 2023 so that seems almost irrelevant. i suppose they still felt that was more hashtag relatable than setting it in the near future
loved the cold open
the title sequence is cool but unfortunately like every prestige title sequence feels derivative of game of thrones. i think they could've repurposed the game's opener (the snippets of news broadcasts) and had a real banger of an opening. oh well
LOVE that they kept the music/composer
not sure how i felt about the early scenes of ellie w the fireflies. in game, i felt it was fairly clear ellie was doing this by choice. i also felt her wanting to return "home" didn't really jive with what i knew from left behind, where she was moments away from running away with riley + clearly unhappy at school anyway. maybe with riley gone she would want to return to normalcy but... idk
selfishly i hope this takes off because i can't remember the last time i watched a show weekly that other people were watching and talking about. maybe even flesh and blood people at work and stuff. wow.

okay I've now seen the movie. spoilery answers to which of these I got right under the cut
CORRECT: I was disappointed (though not surprised) by this movie. I do not think it cleared the honestly really low bar of "best mario movie"
CORRECT: but like the movie was fine. basically exactly what I expected in terms of quality. new super mario bros u level quality, fun but not that original or deep
CORRECT: the background references were indeed everything I could hope for. people are going to be looking through this movie frame by frame to spot all the easter eggs for sure
CORRECT: and as expected, any reference that has dialogue attached to it is just nothing. there's a joke about blowing into cartridges. a koopa with a spiny blue shell says "blue shell!" out loud before flying into a Mario Kart.
PARTIALLY CORRECT: while I was right that it's an origin story (obviously it was going to be an origin story), it does deviate from quote-unquote "canon" more than I had expected. part of that is definitely intentional new ideas (mario and luigi's family! they've been implied to exist before but it's cool actually seeing them), but there's also stuff that just feels like the incorrect assumptions a person who only kinda knows about mario would make about things (like how cranky kong, king of the kongs, is donkey kong's father)
CORRECT: I did not laugh a single time when I was watching this movie, though a couple gags did make me smirk
INCORRECT: thankfully, the jokes are not stale mario jokes. instead they mostly feel like jokes that were written for a different movie that later was turned into a mario movie. some writer came up with the idea "one of the other prisoners should be like really cute but also talk about existential dread. that's a clever subversion right" and then they consulted their secondary team of people who know mario things to pick which mario character would work for that
CORRECT: chris pratt did fine. as has already been discussed to death, his mario voice is just kinda boring. just a generic American Man Voice
PARTIALLY CORRECT: I was so close with the charles martinet thing. there is a fakeout-like thing where the first time mario speaks it's with more of a mario voice, and they reveal that's not his "real voice" with a joke featuring charles martinet doing the actual mario voice, it's just that charles martinet isn't voicing mario in that scene. so close!
CORRECT: princess peach girlboss moments
MOSTLY INCORRECT: happy to report that I was wrong about how mario and luigi's relationship as brothers would be portrayed! I think this was my favorite aspect of the movie (aside from the visuals), the dynamic between the mario brothers. that said, the "do something cool to 'earn' the respect of a family member" thing is in the movie, it just doesn't specifically happen with luigi trying to impress mario
CORRECT: mario does in fact eat a super mushroom and grow as a person because of it
INCORRECT: there's no third-act twist villain reveal! a good chunk of my predictions were mutually exclusive suggestions for how exactly a third-act twist villain would work, and then there wasn't one. for the record, I'm counting all of those as one prediction (because they were mutually exclusive)
INCORRECT: I didn't notice a super crown anywhere, though there might be one somewhere. this is irrelevant, however, because between when I made this post and the release of the film twitter fell apart. did not see that coming!
for those keeping track, that's eight correct predictions, two partially correct predictions, and four incorrect predictions (plus all the ideas I had for a twist villain that ended up not mattering because there wasn't a twist villain). considering how little information there was about this movie at the time this post was made, I'm going to call that a disappointing success. this was a very predictable movie.
mario movie predictions
(for context I’m writing this before the trailer has been released)
this will not be a “good movie”
unfortunately, it also won’t be bad in interesting ways
you’ll definitely be able to tell that many people who worked on this care about the source material. background details will be filled with deep-cut references to things from across the whole franchise, including things nintendo hasn’t acknowledged in decades
those will be completely overshadowed by the lore references in the script, which are the most Dorkly-ass nostalgia bait “hey remember Mario?” type gags a committee of soulless writers could come up with
it’s (at least partially!) an origin story, obviously, but they’re not allowed to deviate from established “canon” enough to come up with anything interesting. the best they can do is reference relatively lesser-known games like Wrecking Crew. they won’t reference Mario Bros. (Game & Watch) because they’re cowards.
it’s a comedy, but they only have like five good jokes. all five of those jokes will be featured in the trailer, so a bunch of people who don’t know how trailers work will think it looks good
the majority of the gags are jokes you’ve heard a million times before. peach sure gets kidnapped a lot! did you know mushrooms are also drugs? if you’re the Mario Brothers does that mean your name is Mario Mario? hey what if “cake” is a euphemism for something!! mario eats mushrooms he’s on shrooms get it
chris pratt’s mario voice is okay. it sounds kinda like mario’s voice in hotel mario, but with less personality
charles martinet’s cameo is as mario. the first time mario says something, it’s in martinet’s voice, then he clears his throat and has a more boring voice for the rest of the movie
princess peach girlboss moments
there’s a “mario is a bad brother” subplot. mario mistreats luigi consistently, and it’s not resolved by mario growing as a person it’s resolved by luigi doing something cool and “earning” mario’s respect
coincidentally mario DOES grow as a person, when he eats the super mushroom : )
in accordance with the Post-Frozen Law of Animated Villains, there will be a surprise bad guy reveal. there are several ways this could go:
bowser as a villain is played straight for the first act, then mario rescues peach and that’s the end of the Origin Story portion. afterwords, the REAL villain comes in, and the gang has to team up with bowser to stop them! and that real villain, of course, is
Foreman Spike, from Wrecking Crew
Donkey Kong
Yoshi (revenge for being thrown into pits)
Wario (wahahahaha)
Luigi (mario is a bad brother subplot final form)
Waluigi (featuring meta jokes about how waluigi hasn’t been in enough games)
Peach (girlboss moments)
ALTERNATIVELY, one of the above is the villain at first, then there’s a third-act twist that. bowser is the villain.
there will be one shot, somewhere, where the super crown powerup appears in the background along with a bunch of other items, and people on twitter will freak out about how this is a canon reference to bowsette

Their mistake
Tumblr media
Genere: gang vibes (kinda angst but not really)
Characters: sanzu Haruchiyo, kakucho hitto, ran haitani, rindou haitani
Note: Couldn't stop thinking about holding a gun to sanzus head so I did this.
______________
"What were you guys thinking?!", you yelled, making the three executives before you flinch. "But boss-", ran spoke, getting interrupted by you, "what, ran?! Do you have any plausible excuse as to why our newest shipment got confiscated by the fucking authorities?!", which made the male shut up immediately.
You held out your hand to takeomi, signaling him to give you your gun. Which, without hesitation, he did while making sure your hands touched. That didn't go unnoticed by kakucho, who glared at him for it, it should've been him not takeomi.
You were their leader. Mikey was only the acting leader until you felt like revealing yourself. The guys were surprised but not opposed, seeing as you're a smart and capable gang leader, as well as very eye catching. Safe to say that all of them, even Mikey, took a good liking to you.
Taking the gun into your hand, you stood up to walk towards the kneeling men. "Well, ran, go on and explain what happened.", you looked down on him. Ran wouldn't ever admit it, but he always wanted to be in this position because of you. He wanted you to be mad, to look down on him. It was so attractive to him, he wanted you to punish him as much as you pleased.
"We were off somewhere else killing other gang members and having fun. We weren't paying attention to our phones when we got the message about the cops being on their way.", rindou explained. You looked at him, giving him a dangerous glare, "did I talk to you, or was I asking your brother?"
Rindou knew to not talk if not talked to, but that was exactly what he wanted. Your eyes sharp and full of wrath towards the three, towards him. The dangerous aura you had around yourself, making them shake.
The fear he felt when you leaned down, grabbing his jaw tightly, making him gasp quietly. He didn't hate it, not in the least. "No you weren't. I'm sorry for talking, boss." You tsked, harshly ripping your hand away from his jaw, causing his head to whip to the side. His eyes, unbeknownst to you, rolled to the back of his head in pleasure. He loved your harshness.
Standing back up, you asked all three of them, "and who's idea was that?" You knew it was snazu, it was always him, therfore you were already looking at him.
"Mine, boss.", he daringly said, a smirk on his lips. He loved riling you up like this, making you mad. He would never let his beloved drugs get confiscated purposely, that couldn't be changed anymore, so why not enjoy the wonderful outcome?
While rindou was lost in his thoughts of your hand on his jaw a minute ago, ran was getting annoyed. Sanzu always had to take all your attention from him. "I know. What can a druggie like you do other than disappoint. You're so useless for fucks sake.", you spat out in disgust.
Of course that wasn't true and he knew. Both of you knew that he was a very skilled and smart gang member. But that was completely irrelevant right now. Not that sanzu minded. If any other person said that to him, they'd be dead on the ground in seconds. Not you though. He loved when you degraded him like that, when you told him how useless he was, how stupid and annoying.
"I know you love me, boss.", he said. His smirk growing into his usual grin when he felt the cold metal of your gun on his forehead. "Ohh how thrilling.", he responded, earning an eye roll from you. "I'd kill you right here right now with no regret, you know.", you deadpaned, staring him right in the eyes. Sanzu wasn't sure if you meant it or not, which he loved. It was easy for him to read people, you were the only one he couldn't read. You had his life in your hands, you had all the power over him, exactly that made him excited.
Finally, you pulled the trigger. Hearing that specific sound everybody in the room knew too well, their eyes widened, quickly whipping their head towards sanzu, expecting him to be dead on the ground. But he wasn't. Before called them to you, you removed the bullets in your gun. You weren't going to kill any of your top members, but what opposes a little fright for them?
Sanzu himself, was shocked. His eyes wide with a huge grin slowly appearing. "God you're something else.", he whispered fascinated. Nobody could make him feel the way you did.
Kakucho and takeomi made a mental note that very moment, 'Don't ever piss her off. You'll die of a heart attack if not from a bullet through your skull.' Regardless of their shock, they both had a slight smirk on their faces, they're glad that you were their boss.
While it might be wrong for ran to think so, he was jealous. He wanted to be the one with the gun pointed at him, he wanted to be the one you shoot, he wanted to be the one to realize that you tricked him. He knew that he shouldn't be thinking like that, but it was so hard not to want you all to himself.
Rindou on the other hand, was already daydreaming of the next time you'd be this mad, about how you'd treat him then for making another mistake. How harsh you'd be after the third mistake even. Maybe the next two mistakes could be done by him alone. Only him getting your time and attention.
You phone rang. "Who the fuck-", you stopped mid sentence as you read the contacts name; 'Mikey'. You sighed, finally someone who took shit seriously. Answering your phone, you made your way back to your seat, "Speak."
"We got it back. Mochi and I are on our way back now.", he said. Quick and clear, just the way you liked it. "Alright. Good job you both.", you said before hanging up.
Turning to look at the three men, you dismissed them, "Leave."
Like you demanded, they stood up and left the room. None of them wanted to, but they knew that the fun was over now.
For now, at least.

The Last Time I’ll Write a Long Post About Supernatural (15x18-15x20)
15 YEARS OF WATCHING THIS SHOW. 11 YEARS OF RUNNING A BLOG ABOUT IT. IT’S BEEN QUITE A RIDE.
[15x20 Speculation + evidence at the bottom]
First off, I just wanna come clean and say, after all these years, I still think they should’ve ended at Season 5.
If you’re going to come at me with “Then why’d you stick around to watch it if you didn’t like it?”, your question is immature, and the answer is simple: I just want to know what happens next (I also love the main characters and their actors too). You can watch a show and still think it’s shit.
Call me a clown, but despite all the disappointment and trust issues that this show has given me, I would still look forward to the day where it might just turn itself around and bring back the quality it once had, or realize the potential of each story it was trying to tell, or at the very least, do justice by my favorite ship.
Never happened.
They’ve had a few good episodes here and there. I can’t imagine the SPN Universe without The Man Who Would Be King, The French Mistake, and Scoobynatural. Seasons 6-10 were enjoyable at times. I blocked out most of 7 & 11-15.
If you’ve been following this blog since its heydays in 2010-2014, you’d know I’d try my best to defend Destiel and this show’s decisions regarding it no matter what.
Because you know what, as a CONCEPT, this show is good. If you take a look at all the worlds its storylines have birthed in fanfiction/fanworks, you’d see how much Supernatural has wasted its own story arcs. The writing got shittier as each season progressed, and they’ve obviously given up in production as well because the quality in the execution has noticeably gone down too, but if you take a step back and take a look at the bigger picture, you’ll see that this show still tries to make sense of itself.
[If you’re still following this post, please bear with me, I know this is long, but I just want you to understand how jaded and pessimistic I am with regards to this show, so maybe you can buy into whatever hopeful thing I’m about to say later on.]
SO LET’S TALK ABOUT DESTIEL
Never in my wildest dreams did I think that they would give us Castiel’s “I love you” speech. To the point where, if I weren’t so desperate for it, I would argue that it was completely out of character for him to word vomit the way he did (but I’m not gonna diss on that right now because I’ll take what I can get).
I’ve valued every meaningful and obscure exchange that Dean and Cas have had in the earlier seasons, and I was willing to accept their relationship as just that--undefined, without any clear boundaries as to what they really are. And I think that was beautiful on its own.
But now, they’ve chosen to define it.
After they’ve driven every possible wedge between Dean and Castiel in seasons 11-15, to try to explain away their feelings as something they offer to a collective.
Dean can’t mourn and pray for JUST Cas, he has to mourn and pray for EVERYBODY--even Crowley, even some chick he just met, because god forbid he cries about just the guy who has given up everything for him--that would be “too homo”.
They’ve even set Cas on a path to abrupt fatherhood just so he can care about something other than Dean. Make it seem as if Dean wasn’t his purpose through and through.
And after all these years of this stupid show trying to deny it, they choose to acknowledge it at the worst possible circumstance, at a time where they’ve been so far apart, that it seems so foreign for them to suddenly come together.
But here we are. And they’ve chosen to tell us.
Chosen to tell us that everything that Castiel has done leading up to his death, he has done it because he was IN LOVE WITH DEAN WINCHESTER.
Chosen to tell us that the ONE THING THAT WOULD MAKE CAS HAPPY IS DEAN WINCHESTER.
Chosen to tell us that BEING WITH DEAN WINCHESTER is something that CAS WANTS BUT KNOWS HE CAN’T HAVE.
And they’ve also chosen to tell us nothing about how Dean feels.
Sure, finding out your angel made a deal, the stipulations of said deal, his newfound happiness philosophy, his long-winded monologue of why he loves you and why you’re worthy of his love, and to top it all off he tells you that being in love with you is enough to make him happy while he subtly hints that he’s always wanted to be WITH you romantically, was a lot to process in the 5 minutes after you’ve just had an existential crisis.
It’s whatever, right? Let’s culminate 11 years worth of tension and feelings in 5 minutes. Let’s waste the entire episode with cringey expository dialogue, and irrelevant sequences. The whole season was a waste anyway.
You know what Supernatural? FUCK YOU FOR THAT. They deserved better. WE deserve better.
And I would love nothing more than to hurl every possible insult your way,
But for the last time, I’m going to HOPE that you’re finally going to try to make it better for the fans that stuck by you all these years.
No more baiting new viewers, no more placating casual viewers, no more excuses. 15 years. Bring it home for the people who have actually been around.
SO HERE’S HOW I THINK 15x20 IS GONNA GO
There’s two ways this series is gonna end. Horribly or Spectacularly.
First let’s all take into consideration what Andrew Dabb says about it:
Tumblr media
So, let’s start with
ENDING HORRIBLY
In this scenario, Misha is telling the truth about his last day of filming being 15x18. His “camping trip” during the last few days of filming 15x20, was actually a camping trip. He doesn’t go to Vancouver to shoot.
Jensen wasn’t “being careful” during the zoom interviews that it was just him and Jared quarantining for the shoot, it really was just him and Jared (althought most of these were done pre 15x19) Supernatural isn’t smart enough to do misleading PR, and they’re once again oblivious to the potential of their own story.
Misha hasn’t posted a “Goodbye Castiel” tweet because he’s probably saving it for last episode or he forgot because it was overshadowed by the Destiel trend that night.
So what we get is:
Sam and Dean are on the road again, up against the monster of the week. Only their world no longer has actual Supernatural beings anymore, so the monsters they’re fighting are humans.
Tumblr media
Humans end up killing the Winchesters (despite having gone up against literally every powerful being imaginable INCLUDING God himself). Dean and Sam end up in heaven and relive their greatest hits.
Meanwhile, Castiel rots in The Empty because he died after realizing that he was happy and gay. Jack doesn’t bother rescuing him—his surrogate dad, the guy who made this specific deal to spare him—even though it was so easy for him get Cas in and out of The Empty when he had a fraction of the power that he has now.
Dean never speaks of Castiel’s confession because despite all the hints of a profound bond in the earlier seasons, and the fact that Dean has never cared for anyone (who isn’t his actual brother) as immensely as he does Cas, Supernatural just can’t have its main macho character be “suddenly bisexual” because that would hurt the male ego or some shit.
His heaven would probably be living happily ever after with his family. “Family” meaning Mary and John Winchester--two of the shittiest parents ever (but they’re not going to include them in this episode like they were supposed to because of Covid) and Sam.
Sam also gets a dog. As usual.
I wouldn’t put it past Supernatural to do this. After everything they’ve pulled, this would be right up their alley. I actually expect this ending.
Anyway, onto the next possible ending
ENDING SPECTACULARLY
In this scenario, Supernatural tries to stick the landing, and Jensen’s whole “It didn’t sit well with me at first, but then I took a step back after talking to Kripke, and realized that I had to view it from an audience perspective, I am now really excited about it” (DC Con 2019) anecdote about his thoughts on the final episodes, were actually about Dean potentially ending up with Cas. (Which would totally make sense because Jensen at first didn’t see Dean as anything but hetero, but as of late, he has been throwing in Destiel jokes of his own, so he seems to have warmed up to the idea)
Backed with Misha’s tidbit (DLConline 2020) that he and Jensen had conversations about Destiel, and that they wouldn’t have gone through with it if Jensen wasn’t onboard with it, but Jensen didn’t push back at all. (Why would they need to check with Jensen if it was just Cas going all in?)
Robert Berens (writer of 15x18) also wrote the script at the beginning of Season 15, but made Misha privy to the concept a year prior (Season 14), so they went into this season knowing about Destiel going canon.
This one’s a reach, but this scenario also supposes that Misha was lying about his whereabouts during the filming of the final episode, and him saying that 15x18 was his last episode is part of the diversion to avoid taking away from the weight of Castiel’s death.
And that Supernatural is actually self-aware of its own material (similar to how they have wrapped things up in the past—lots of expository dialogue, poor execution, but fulfills the story arc)
Since Season 15 is basically a Meta Season (Chuck/God as a writer, pretentiously calling out how he created the worlds, its characters, and basically invalidating the past 14 seasons), and 15x19 is supposedly the finale for Season 15, written by two of the worst Supernatural writers, Brad Buckner and Eugenie Ross-Leming (Bob Singer’s wife), then we can assume that 15x19 is where the shitty writers kill themselves--as Chuck, of course.
So we get a badly written episode that produces a bad ending, or as Becky put it, “All action, and no Cas”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So we get the bad writers season ending at 15x19.
And 15x20 is where Sam and Dean write their own stories, and where the cast had a hand in pitching ideas for it.
Tumblr media
Dabb has mentioned that 15x20 (Act Two) is a SERIES finale, where they try to resolve the characters’ journeys.
Because as everyone has acknowledged, Supernatural isn’t about the story, it’s about the characters.
So here’s what we can get out of it:
With no more Supernatural beings left to fight, Sam and Dean are in a stalemate. They’ve resigned themselves to fighting to the bitter end, but the “end” has passed, and they’re still standing.
So they try to figure out who they are now, and what they want out of the life they still have.
Sam still wants a normal apple pie life. Before Dean dragged him out of college to go hunting with him, he had a whole life planned out for him. Become a lawyer, settle down with a nice girl, and get a dog. He gave all that up because they had work to do, but now the work is finished, he can finally go back to wanting that for himself again.
Dean finally realizes his self-worth after Cas saves him again. His prayer to Cas in purgatory may have helped him come to terms with his anger, but the whole “you’ve done everything you did for love” speech finally put him in his place, and he learns not to hate himself anymore.
But of course, he cannot fully reconcile with himself if he doesn’t get Cas back, and tell him how he feels.
Because Dean actually wants something for himself this time. Something he knows he can finally have if he can just salvage it.
So maybe this time around, with the help of Jack (off-screen), Dean saves Cas. Grips him tight and raises him from perdition.
They bypass The Empty deal by turning Cas human, and he lives the rest of his days with Dean.
Dean and Cas know they deserve to be saved, and they know that they deserve to be happy.
(Wishful thinking, maybe they kiss a little)
Anyway...
I’m just saying, there’s NO WAY that they’d have Cas go through that whole rushed speech, if they weren’t going to do anything about it later on.
But again, after 10 years of disappointment, I wouldn’t put it past Supernatural to pat themselves on the back and say, “Okay, we sort of gave them what they wanted. We’re good now”
If that’s the case, Supernatural, I’m sorry I wasted my time on you.
Here’s to hoping 🤡

BAKUGO KATSUKI - KACHAN
He’ll at least ask. He’s always careful to ask. The actual response isn’t too important. Protest that are drowned out in a moan can’t be seen as an actual protest anyway, and he always makes sure that her words are chocked in her throat. Bakugo knows his worth, he knows that each and every thing he does to her in that bed, it’s guarantied she likes it. Her pride makes her a liar, she can’t be trusted with her own pleasure, not when he knows and has proven time and time again that he knows her body and her limits better than what she does. When he has her bent over his lap, that cute little ass that he knows belongs to him, aiming to make sure that she knows it too, each time his hand comes in harsh contact with the soft flesh, feeling it up like putty in his hand as she winces and cries for him to stop. Her protests can’t be taken seriously, not when two fingers gliding up her pussy tells him all he needs to know, feeling how soaked she already is for him, all warm and velvety and ready. That’s all the answer he needs to keep going.
As far as aftercare goes… it can vary. Sometimes he’ll draw a bath with bubbles and lavender oil and light scented candles. Other times he’ll make food, where he’ll bake desserts more than anything. But there are days he won’t do much more than keep a painfully suffocating grip on her as he drifts rather quickly off to sleep. Exchanging no words except for those growls of good night and I love you. Leaving the rest for after they wake up, having an early morning where he’ll never let her sleep in, dragging her with him to shower before he has to leave, where afterwards he’ll treat her to more tender care on the bed with his face buried between her thighs in a way of apologizing for having to leave her alone all day.
DABI - TODOROKI TOUYA
She shouldn’t worry her pretty little head about anything. Dabi might look like your worst nightmare, but you’d be surprised how soft the darkness really is. He can be persuasive and disarming if and when he wants to be, or he can be foul… He likes finding a mix between the two though, they work better together anyway. Make her feel safe, but only if she obeys, and make her feel fear if she doesn’t. He won’t bite… at least not for any longer than to make her cry for him, for those precious little water-works to bubble up to the surface. Making a chew toy out of that pretty swan-neck of hers, paint it with purple, resembling what hue of mulberry-wine found on his marred skin. Nibbling on that cute button between her legs, feel her tremble in his hold and hear her gasp out his name. Or grinding those perfect little nipples between the rows of his teeth, watching her blubber out her pleas when the pressure he applies threatens to bite the flimsy nib off, feel her pussy clench around his shaft upon the anticipation and fear. Fear does such peculiar things to people, especially in the form of threats, especially when walking hand in hand with pleasure. His darling doesn’t know what to make of herself, left completely like putty in his hands, all for him to toy with and tamper and tease. Where she doesn’t dare try and make him stop, she doesn’t dare allow herself to enjoy what he’s doing either, because only mad people run into things they already know to be a trap.
He’ll hush and coo at her to stop crying afterwards, her little mind on the verge of breaking and her pitter patter heart standing on the cliff’s edge ready to jump with nothing but Dabi to hold onto, the knot in her lower abdomen already having exploded time and time again because of him. She’s such a mess, such a cross-eyed wet hot mess, his little mess and that always manages to bring a smile to his face.
SHIGARAKI TOMURA
If Tomura’s in a mood, as in a childish fit, she can expect no rest, because the wicked as we know get no rest, and the unfortunate sweet thing kidnapped by the wicked get no rest either. Tomura’s mood, quite like his morals, change like tidewater. Sometimes he’ll behold her precious beautiful body as though she’s made up of fine porcelain, meant to be touched and worshipped softly, where the fact of her wanting the worship or not is irrelevant. He’ll still touch and touch and let himself get carried away by how insanely soft her skin is as opposed to him. He’ll fuck her slowly, each hump meaningful and hauled out to the max as so to feel every single inch of him filling her up… Then there’s his other mood… The feeling of opposition is no less there, how unfairly gorgeous she is in contrast to how appalling he is, however… instead of it evoking worship… it evokes humorous triumph. Gut-wrenching nasty despicable satisfaction, where it brings him such inane pleasure to think that someone as disgusting as him has the power and the will to corrupt something so pure, something so pretty, and how there is quite literally nothing she can do to stop him, nothing at all… it gets his blood rushing in sadistic glee when he pushes her down on her stomach, fisting her hair while jutting into her from behind, every little salacious depraved thought growled into her ear, with no regard to her choked screams except for a wild grin, spiked to go even faster.
Not much tender aftercare here I’m afraid, he thinks it’s best to leave her alone, getting in his chair to game, taking one long last look at his cum seeping from her hole, his handprint red across her ass, still looking so pretty even with all those bruises… maybe even inspired to go for another round.
SHINSO HITOSHI
Aww. Little kitty is at her breaking point? The collar is too tight for Master’s precious pretty pet? Pussy-cat wants a break? But good kittens deserve good toe-curling eye-crossing world-shattering rewards, and bad kittens will be punished however Master chooses, won’t they? If she screams no, he’ll hear yes. If she screams stop, he’ll hear more. If she screams please, well… he’ll still hear please… It’s so unbearably cute to see her stutter and frustrate over how her words come out all wrong, as if someone’s picked her brain, pulled on her strings as though she were a puppet, changed what she wants to say, to what he wants to hear. What’s even cuter is when those large eyes of hers go all ditzy, crossing paths, that crinkle between her brows furrowing, with her tongue falling over her lips. But, the cutest thing is when her tail wraps around his thigh and leg, holding onto him in such a soft embrace when her bliss strides over her body, reaching all the way to the tip of her plushy soft tail, when her wrists and ankles are too busy being kept tied snug and firm together, as he continues to slam himself fast-forwardly into her.
He’ll erase his mind-tricks afterwards, careful to restore anything he might have disturbed or broken during their playtime. Her fluffy tail still slithered around his thigh as he pets her over her soft ears, telling her what a good little kitten she is and how proud she’s made him, feeling her shiver and jolt against him, small little spasms followed by short acute hiccups, proof of how bendable those so-called limits are when Hitoshi takes control. Proof of how good he can make her feel, so good she loses track of where she is, so good she loses contact with her mind, so good the only thing she’s still able to do is purr.
TAKAMI KEIGO - HAWKS
Oh… She can’t blame him when his rut rolls around the corner. He can’t control those urges. Not when she’s there, so plain and defenseless and a perfect fit for him to take all that cooped up frustration out on. He just needs to fill her each and every crevice up with his seed, make sure she’s well bred, pump her full of his cum until his balls no longer have anything left to give. He’ll hump like a frenzied pup, hands gripping her hips so tight her feet don’t even touch the ground. He’ll pound until he’s exhausted, until she’s left a swollen sweat-slicked mess, no longer able to stand straight without her weak and wobbly knees giving out beneath her. She wishes his rut and her heat could line up, so she doesn’t have to go through the same thing twice, but she isn’t that lucky, and Keigo is. He’ll be counting down the days until finally picking up those sweet tones in the air, that aroma that makes him go feral. She does him a favor by acting so shy, so ashamed, it makes it that much more fun when she’s struggling against both him and herself. All it takes is for him to put his thumb in her mouth… how she’ll begin to drool at the very first taste, her eyes losing that feral fight and falling prey to the feeling of her nerves being set on fire. He gladly indulges her needs, his heart fluttering at how clingy she becomes, how sweet, blubbering out gibberish, shapeless words that are such a good replacement for what vile things she’ll yell at him most other times.
He’ll be so hungry in the mornings after, disappointed for the lack of food in the house, but he can’t blame his darling for not cooking, not when he’s rendered her lame, she can’t very well cook if she can’t stand. He’ll order so much take-out the smell of sweat and juices soon gets coated and overwhelmed by the smell of spice and broth. Eating, regaining all his strength… that was only day one of two weeks… the rut is only just beginning.
MIDORIYA IZUKU - DEKU
Don’t worry, Izuku knows how much to give and how much to take, just as he knows when to give it and when to take it, and how to give and how to take. He knows what punishment is due for what crime as well as he knows when rewards are in order. And if he so happens to need to punish her… he’ll make sure she does something in need of punishment. It’s not often he needs to act on those sadistic carnal vulgar yearnings, but a bad day gets a whole lot better if he can come home and take it out on someone, especially when he gets to play with her beforehand, poke and prod until she slips up, allowing him to pounce on her the second she fucks up like a fox finally done playing with his food, his little bunny. The ends justify the means after all. He knows that it’s unfair to take his frustration out on his little darling… but… it being wrong… somehow makes it feel better. Having her blubbering on choked sobs and quaking beneath him, under his blood-soaked scarred hands, her little hole serving as such a snug and no doubt painful fit for his cock to abuse. Hearing her apologize for doing absolutely nothing at all, just to satiate his craze, all because he decided he wanted to exercise his dominance.
One thing that’s good about Izuku is that once is enough, and though that one time might feel like a million times stretching over a million days, where she’s left unable to walk properly… once he’s done, she can be sure he’s done… at least until the next day. If she hasn’t passed-out, he’ll let her cry it off when he’s done, offering no words but still comforting her by stroking her back or fiddling with her hair, twirling it about his fingers as she rests on his chest, her tears making his bicep itch with irritation, but he’ll allow her that much.
CHISAKI KAI - OVERHAUL
He tries being sweet, he tries being gentle, he tries mimicking the same type of softness as his darling bestows upon him, yet… although she’s sweet, she’s also so aggravatingly reluctant, and Kai doesn’t have the time nor the patience to second-guess every single little thing he wants to do. It’s impractical, it’s wasteful, it’s stupid, and stupidity as we know is a disease he can’t risk being infected with. No, better then, for him to just take the lead, for him to make the decisions for her, for him to decide her limits, up to him to decide when she’s ready to take his cock, how fast and hard he can thrust into her, how tight he can grip her wrists when she starts pushing at him, how many bruises are too many, how many times she can cum. Besides, if things go too far… he knows how to piece her together again. He hasn’t studied every single detail of her just to let all that valuable information go to waste. He’ll see to it that she’s as good as new once their done, if not, maybe even better, maybe even less reluctant to give into what he wants next time, maybe a bit more respectful of the rules, maybe a bit more understanding of who there is the boss and who there is the brittle brainless little toy.
Pain is a good cleanser anyway, despite it being bloody and gory and mixed in with tears and drool and snot and whatever else may occur once the need for his quirk arrives after his aggression causes something to bruise or break. She might think that it’s cruel that healing her has to hurt more than the wound itself, but what she needs to learn is that prosperity always comes at a price, a price that he’s all too willing to pay when she fails to live up to her potential.
TODOROKI SHOTO
Limits are made to be broken, to be conquered, in order for us to prosper. She should be grateful she at least gets the liberty to be with the one she loves, the one who loves her. She should at least be grateful that it’s not just anyone who’s breaking her limits, but him. Him and his hands and his tongue and his cock and his frostbite and his flames and his smile and his biting laughter. She knows by now that there is no stopping him when he starts, she knows that her only hope is to wait for herself to achieve that opium-blown ecstasy and ride that insanity where her skin feels like fire and her insides like ice and every touch, no matter how feather-light or how brutish and bruising, is god’s touch.
Shoto is unprecedentedly thorough and dreadfully talented at aftercare. While his darling is lying all limp and numbed-down, holding onto the prickling feeling dancing like fire-ants on her skin, she can barely even capture the feeling of Shoto wrapping her up in a fuzzy robe. His cold lips pressing onto her forehead and by the time she comes to, when she finally and woefully breaches the surface and gets reeled back into reality, right when she’s at the verge of collapsing from having all her hormones crash, her adrenaline fizzing out into nothing and she’s left feeling all cold and so dreadfully sad, Shoto’s right there, making her feel warm and appreciated and safe. He’ll light candles, scented with rosehip, he’ll already have picked out a movie, he’ll have the chocolate ready, the tea brewing in their matching cups, swiftly braiding her hair into a neat loose setup to keep it from falling into her face as he knows she’s much too drained to lift her hand, resting between his legs, her head using his chest as a headrest. If he’s being honest, he isn’t quite sure what he loves more, the play-session or the aftercare, all he knows is that one is impossible without the other… yet again proving the importance of balance.

@glorytoukraine2022
My whole point is actually that I don't think Kristoff's role was diminished at all. It just wasn't what we typically expect from a male lead. I think that people don't have to wield swords or be a part of the action in order to be heroic. Yes, there were those heroic acts that @greatqueenanna and @true--north mentioned, but I think those little moments like "I'm here. What do you need?" and "My love is not fragile" are extremely heroic moments. But that's not what we're used to seeing as heroic, so it's easy to overlook those moments as such.
And I don't think of him as comedic relief, either. I think that his character did provide some needed levity at the beginning, especially. It's funny to us, though, as the audience that he just couldn't get it right, but he felt rejected and inadequate and he was really hurting. He was feeling really bad about it, and when he put himself out there, he found out that Anna had just left him. What's really important, though, is how he grows as a character. He grows from the goofy, immature guy that can't get the proposal right because he's not paying attention to what his girlfriend is going through and what she needs to the mature future consort who puts aside his wants and needs to help Anna save the day. Usually, that's the role that women have taken on in films. And it's not any less heroic than women who have played those roles (when they had agency, like Kristoff does). Only then was he in a place to commit to marrying a queen.
I think I have to disagree with you and Anon regarding gender. To me, you can't take gender out of F2 or any discussion about Kristoff's role in F2. I'm sorry if that's upsetting, but that's my opinion. I'm not calling Anon or anyone else a sexist here for disagreeing with me. I think sexism is still everywhere. Despite the Me Too movement, equal pay in the US, and all that, and there's been a lot of positive changes in the last 25 years, it's still something that's very real to me and to a lot of other people. And I don't think the solution to "equality" is to give men roles that are "equal" to women's roles in movies like Frozen. Let the girls have a chance to take on the traditional roles that men have occupied in cinema. Let the men have the more supporting roles that women have played. That's not to say I don't think men shouldn't ever play those roles; I just don't think that's necessarily a marker of equality.
If by diminished, Anon meant that they wished KKristoff had more screen time, then I'll heartily agree with that, of course! Anon and me, both. Especially Kristanna, because I honestly can't get enough of them. But more Kristanna would have interrupted Anna's own journey (Elsa and the boat, Olaf disappearing, Kristoff leaving her). Without all those things happening, she wouldn't have emerged from her cocoon as the next Queen of Arendelle. She had abandonment issues, and she was a little too preoccupied with her sister's well-being to even notice how much Kristoff was hurting. (Yes, I know that's not what you said and you'll probably say it's irrelevant to the conversation but I almost never get involved in meta, so let me have this moment, please and thank you.) She needed to gain some independence so she could lead, just like Kristoff needed his own journey. You can kind of look at their character arcs as mirrored a little.
That's why I write Kristanna fanfic. More Kristanna didn't belong in the movie, so I've published 50 Kristanna fanfics to fill that void for myself (and whoever reads them). And tbh F2 Kristoff is a big part of that. It's not because I think Kristoff's role is diminished. In fact, it's quite the opposite. I hold him in the highest esteem because of his actions in F2, rather than being disappointed with the creators because of his inactions. I think the way they wrote his character is very clever, and I am tired of people calling him a himbo (not putting words in Anon's mouth - that's just something I've seen people say) and belittling his role in the movie. This is no offense to Anon or anyone else who has contributed to this chain or who disagrees with me. It's something I've seen in discourse as long as I've been around, and I can't recall ever seeing anyone praising his character/the creators for writing him that way and saying that he's nothing more than comedic relief. And I'm finally speaking out about it.
What are your thoughts on Kristoff’s role in Frozen 2? I have mixed feelings about it. I understand that Frozen will always be about Elsa and Anna and don’t expect Kristoff to get a huge role. But it felt like part of their goal was to revert Kristoff to just somebody pining for their lover while Anna becomes the hero. Women and men should be depicted as equals in media. In the first movie, Kristoff was heroic without overshadowing the two sisters. Men should be heroic while expressing emotion
It's definitely a tough subject because of how complicated the entire thing is. There is no easy answer here, to be honest.
I agree with the notion that Kristoff's role was minimized in the sequel to a more comedic side plot rather than anything too complex. It was necessary because like with the first film (and pretty much the reason why the sequel is complicated to begin with), the second film had a lot of plots intertangling with one another that caused the plot to feel overstuffed - forcing the writers to reduce plot points.
Also, as you said, Frozen is established as a story about two sisters, so it makes sense that Elsa and Anna's stories take center stage and need to be the priority of the writers. However, it's still a bit sad to see Kristoff completely in the background this time around and meant to be viewed as comedic with only a small narrative about men and their relationship with emotions. It's not a bad narrative of course, but again it's such a tiny aspect of the sequel that if you never showed it, the film wouldn't have really changed.
I do know that this was not the original intention of the writers because we are told many times that the story of Kristoff and Anna's relationship was so big at one point in the sequel, that it almost completely overshadowed the main plot - leading to them needing to refocus the story. Thus, this isn't really an issue of whether or not the writers knew what to do with Kristoff or didn't care about his character - it was a matter of them just trying to find the voice of the sequel and figuring out what they were trying to do.
On the subject of Kristoff can be both heroic and emotional, he actually still is. Honestly, here is where I disagree with you. Kristoff quite literally saved Anna three times in Frozen 2 - once during the fire, while she was running from the Earth Giants, and then again with Mattias when they pulled her up from falling off the dam. Kristoff is still ridiculously heroic, and Anna would not have pulled off destroying the Dam without Kristoff's help. If that's not equality between the sexes, then I don't know what is haha.

Tumblr media
part 2
X6-88 always thought, since power armor adds bulk and power to the frame, that outside of it Danse would be much shorter and slimmer than he was. In actuality he was thick with muscle and X6-88's height. Still, he was unarmed and tied up, so X6-88 pushed down the quesy feeling he got from seeing Danse. They were waited in the teleportation room for the Director.
Tumblr media
Director Sole was five minutes late. X6-88 felt disappointment creeping in, but finally Director Sole burst into the teleportation room.
"Let's rock n roll!"
---
Tumblr media
What X6-88 had told Danse earlier in the teleportation room must have sunk in, as Danse got into the memory lounger on his own. With his bound hands and legs it was an ungraceful sight, but X6-88 appreciated the cooperation. Director Sole got into the other lounger with the ease of someone who’s done this before.
Director Sole wanted to try the first time navigating Danse's head without knocking him unconcious. Maybe that was a bit of their ego showing, thinking that they are so good with mind games that they can beat someone on their own turf.
While the Director and the interrigation subject were down in memories, X6-88 monitored what they saw on the computer. The video feed started in an unknown building. The lack of windows and any natural light meant they were underground. The camera moved along the corridor, until a door came along. Entering the door filled the screen with warm light. In the room were 4 people. One lying down on a wooden table, two hovering over the body and ond standing in the corner. The body on the table sat up slowly. It was Danse.
It seemed that the computer showed video from the Director's point of view, as they invaded the memories. Danse must be living the memories from his point of view then, X6-88 surmised.
The scene unfolding on the sceen depicted the synth that would become known as Danse waking up after getting his mind wiped by the Railroad. The information on how he escaped and was lost was forever lost. The information was irrelevant, though.
The man that had been standing to the side came up to Danse and laid his hand on Danse's shoulder with a slap and gave it a shake. "Glad to have you back!" he said with a wide smile. Danse didn't show any recognition on his face, but replied something, politely playing along.
The three assumed Railroad agents had a chat away from Danse as he got down from the table and took in his surroundings. It wasn't the sharp gaze Danse has used to assess his surroundings today, when he was brought to Memory Den. In the memory it was an open, unassuming gaze. Not entirely free of suspicion, but mainly intrigued.
Kind of... innocent.
Tumblr media
Not like now.
The camera moved closer to the group whispering amongst themselves. They were  discussing predictably how to help Danse best next. The man, who earlier had acted very friendly with Danse, offered to take Danse in and incorporate Danse into his life. The other two seemed reluctant, but ultimately conceded, as they didn't have a life to give Danse, and synths left wandering without a place or history are easy pickings for coursers.
The memory started fading. The camera quickly glanced over to Danse, who was falling asleep, and then it all went to black. X6-88 was unsure if he should wake up the Director.
He couldn't tell if the camera was moving or not for a few seconds, until in the horizon appeared a small light. It moved closer and eventually the Director stepped into the small room. It was small and beyond cramped. Clearly a cabin. And there in the lower bunk bed were two bodies intertwined, the bodies of Danse and that man from the earlier memory. Both were fairly big grown men and the bed was barely enough room, so the close embrace could make sense, but why not use the upper bunk..?
Danse moved from holding the man to laying on top of him. Then he-
Tumblr media
A heavy feeling settled in X6-88's stomach. He knew he was disobeying his orders to monitor all that happens on the computer. He was disobeying the Director. He had turned away because there was an unwise emotional reaction to what he saw, but the dread of being caught disobeying left him with a worse feeling, so he turned back on to the screen.
The camera had not turned away. This memory clearly takes place before Danse joined the Brotherhood. This was not useful information. There was no need to witness Danse and this other man being physically intimate.
The men were undressing as the camera finally moved out. The image of Danse's naked back made X6-88's mind race. His head was filled with desire to know if it was still so smooth, were the light freckles still there. Were there faded scars like on his face.
The camera was back to showing only darkness. X6-88 hoped that the next memory was less private and most importantly showed something about the Brotherhood.
When another memory came to view it was a large crowd outside. The camera expertly navigated to the synth they were looking for. Danse had an arm around the same man again, and he was speaking to him excitedly. The camera was close enough to pick up what he was saying as it looked around and saw the Brotherhood soldiers showing off their capabilities to the crowd.
"You'd look good in power armor,” Danse said.
There was an answer from probably the other man: "Going for flattery already? You don't have to try that hard to get me agreeing."
"So you'll do it with me?"
The man laughed lightly and said: "Only for you. I think the recruiters are this way."
So close! X6-88 tried to will the camera to move to look for the next memory. They are so close to being in the Brotherhood now!
Electric sound was loud and clear upstairs, the sound of teleportation. X6-88 knew their time was up for today. He called whoever it was to come into the basement. X6-88 then started the process to wake up the Director. They had made it very clear that they were not to be called back for any issue that could be solved by someone on the board. This had to be important.
“Ouuooghhh I feel like I woke up mid snore,” the Director mumbled as they got up. “You know that feeling?"
The synth that was sent to retrieve them had made it downstairs. They said with a nervous edge: "Director. We need to return immediately."
"Let's go... X6-88, can you handle it from here?" Director Sole asked as they stepped up to the new synth. In their voice was more of an order than a question.
"I'll return the subject to his holding quarters."
"Thanks! Byee!" they replied with a quick wave.
The synth and Director Sole teleported away and X6-88 turned to wake up Danse.
X6-88 was very frustrated with himself. He knew that feeling attraction was risky in any case, but in this case it was unforgivable. Danse was a prisoner with information that must be obtained. He could not afford being distracted by his own mind.
But sadly the price of human level intelligence was human feelings. The scientists willfully ignore their existance and have synths self regulate and suppress emotions under the threat of being declared defective.
There may be moments of dramatics when X6-88 wishes to be mind wiped, but in truth he tows the line like any other synth to avoid it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Danse woke up much slowly. His open sleeping face turned from confused to angry. On his cheeks were moist streaks left behind from tears. But with his hands still tied, he couldn't wipe his eyes and rid his face of the evidence of crying. He was not used to this kind of vulnerability and it made him mad. He'd rather bleed out on the foor right now than go through that again.
Danse was glad that X6-88 was not very talkative and right now seemed to be completely mute. No words were exchanged as X6-88 pulled him up and took him back to his cell.
Judging by the fact that Sole was not present when Danse woke up, they had been interrupted. Which increses the likelyhood that he would have to go through all that again. It was painful to relive those memories with Cutler, remembering how good they had had it.

I really don’t like going into topics like that, because I honestly care more about characters than actors who play them most of the time... I don’t feel like it’s my job to defend celebrities and actors, because I don’t owe them anything and I don’t know them, so I might be wrong... But the way some of you act about the whole situation with Anthony Mackie is abhorrent and I just can’t fully ignore it. So let’s sum it up.
----- ------- -----
1) Majority of the people who criticize Anthony for his words did not learn the full context. I just know they didn’t. They didn’t click to see the entire interview and analyze what was really said. They just saw a headline with some “scandalous” statement and started ranting about it without thinking.
2) Most of the fans who are the most loud and vicious about their criticism of Anthony Mackie in this situation sound like they would hate him no matter what he said. They were just waiting for him to do something wrong or semi-wrong and lached onto it the first chance they got.
3) It’s frankly embarassing that after 6 episodes of a popular Marvel show, dozens of media appearences, and hundreds of positive/neutral/wise/funny words said in different interviews Anthony was never really trending on the Internet, but the second he says something mildly controversial you all suddenly care so much about what he has to say... Okay...
4) Acting like race has nothing to do with this situation is just stupid. If you think that the fact that he’s Black is not in any way relevant in this "drama” you’re wrong and maybe you should rethink your opinions keeping that in mind.
5) I understand the initial reaction of the fandom being frustration and hurt, but no one is forcing us to voice our opinions the second we learn about something. You can read the full article, listen to the whole interview. Look at what other people are saying and then provide your own take on the issue. I feel like way too many people just heard that there’s some drama going on and typed the first thing that came to their minds without stopping to think. As always.
6) Even if you don’t agree with everything that Anthony said claiming that his words make him homophobic is weird. His statement was vague and could be interpretend as something... ugh... “problematic” out of context, but if you actually listen to what he said you’d know what he meant. He really didn’t say: “I hate shipping Sam and Bucky, it’s gross and people who do that are awful”... Yet half the fandom acts like these are his actual words.
7) The website standing behind it is partially responsible for the backlash he got, because they framed his words in probably the worst possible way to promote the interview which I find incredibly unfair.
8) Also asking actors about shipping is not a great idea. It’s not their job to deal with fandoms who got angry about everything. And like I said: it doesn’t matter what his answer would be. Someone would hate him for it anyway. Also it’s not like Anthony’s opinion would matter to the Marvel Studios if they wanted to make Sambucky canon or not. I’m sure his view on this issue is entirely irrelevant to them. He’s not standing in your way to get some representation, come on.
9) By the way... Many of you don’t act like you care about representation if it’s not done in a very specific manner (something Mackie even spoke about in a way), so I don’t really trust that many of you actually give a shit about it, when it doesn’t fit your incredibly narrow interpretation of what should be represented... or when it doesn’t match your very specific aesthetic...
10) Some people brought it up and I was almost inclined to agree... “Platonic male friendhips are important! Just because you’re affectionate with other man doesn’t mean you’re gay” is usually a terrible argument used in fandoms by homophobes against making gay couples canon. But I feel like it’s a different thing when some random Twitter user says it and when it comes from a man who is asked over and over, and over, and over again how close exactly is he with his male co-worker that he likes in private life.
11) If you’ve seen other interviews done by Anthony Mackie (not just short clips promoting Marvel movies) you’d know that it’s not the first time he speaks about his opinions about the topic. It didn’t come out of nowhere. And I don’t think we should hold him to completely different standards just because he admitted to being more intolerant in the past, but few people are open enough to admit that and show they’re working to change. And maybe I’m biased, because I had to put actual effort into changing my worldview about some topics into a more progressive one before, but I feel like it’s important to give people time to re-learn after years of having worse opinions. Or to give them some benefit of the doubt and trust that they’re not your enemy, because they’re not always 100% perfect with their support.
12) Overall I just feel bad for him, because poor wording or not, I’m sure - judging by many of his previous statements - that he didn’t mean to say something harmful and yet everyone was ready to jump and hate him even more than they did before. At the end of the day he’s 40-something straight guy who has very limited experience with fandoms, so he (for a good reason) preferred to just avoid the topic. But he was pushed again and again to talk about it, until he finally said something that people didn’t like... Some of you were just wainting to have a weapon to use agains him... So, congratulations, now you have it.
----- ------- -----
... I’m just tired by this whole situation and disappointed in a lot of fans I previously liked. There were a few people who immediately jumped to criticize Mackie and judging by their words they didn’t really know what they were talking about. I had to change my opinion about few creators who I followed, because of their terrible behaviour after all of this and it honestly leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
And I’m not even a huge Anthony Mackie fan! As I’ve mentioned... I don’t like being too invested in actors lives, I just prefer to focus on their work and what they’ve created... with a few tiny exceptions. But seeing how the fandom reacted to his statement made me so annoyed and frustrated that it felt wrong to just be silent and pretend like nothings happening.

in conclusion (i love you)
Tumblr media
pairing: tsukishima kei x reader genre: college + fwb to lovers au | fluff, suggestive wc: 3,742 description: In which Tsukishima discovers that love can bloom in inconspicuous ways, even when you and him are supposed to be conducting a (not so) simple experiment. author’s note: cross-posted onto my ao3. still not sure if i’ll be posting here frequently, but i thought i’d see how i like it first.
Tumblr media
Tsukishima doesn’t understand romantic relationships.
He thinks they’re illogical, impossible, and most of all, irrelevant. They seem like too much hassle when it comes to the ordeal of courting. From the hours spent preparing complicated banners for asking significant others out to the extensive search for gifts that are supposed to appease pointless “monthiversaries,” Tsukishima finds it all to be a waste of time.
Just acts for appearances. Sure, they’re cute, heartwarming even, but what does all of that show for anyway? What happened to qualitative experiences?
He ascertains that he may never truly understand what it means to love another person by modern day standards; for those standards are all full of overhyped bullshit trying to make a trending post on Twitter and Instagram. If avoiding those things means saving himself from love, then so be it. (Irrationality and heartache be damned!)
Tsukishima decides in his first year of university that he won’t do any of those things.
How? His friends ask, guffaws in tow.
He simply tells them that he won’t fall in love.
/
Not many people share in this same ideal, Tsukishima finds.
He can’t say he’s very surprised or disappointed to have his philosophy rejected, especially by those same friends who have questioned his goal, Yamaguchi and Hinata. They’re fools who deem love as something akin to fate’s gift.
Love is a choice, Tsukishima tells them, and this is his decision.
They think he’s being a little silly for not wanting to fall in love. They say he’ll get bit in the ass when he least expects it and he’ll go back on his word, but he hardly thinks that’s true.
If he doesn’t want to fall in love, then he won’t, and that’s perfectly okay. At the very least, you agree with him.
You have always understood him on wavelengths that others simply could not. You have always stood by his side when it came to debates on this matter, and even more so when he really thinks about it.
Tsukishima has been able to lean on you even in high school. Him being so introverted has made things difficult, and what he needed then was patience, something many people lacked, but unlike those people, you took the time to understand him and his struggles.
It’s made him grateful to you. Even now. Scratch that, especially now.
These days he isn’t just shooting you texts about how he could’ve let someone down easier. Sometimes it’s checking out hot pot places at 8PM on a Tuesday; other times, it’s going to the library until 5 AM because statistics midterms suck at an unbearable level, but you take the 8AM class with him anyway, just because it’s him, and General Education requirements may suck but they’re mandatory.
It’s also sharing jokes that no one else gets, and teaming up against the rest of the group when they heckle you two about being the only ones who sees love as the bane of both your existences.
Tsukishima has heard plenty of love advice and received Cosmopolitan articles on how to woo a friend from those same punks who think that love is given by chance. He has seen the knowing stares exchanged at kickbacks. Hell, he’s heard all the whispers, too. But it means nothing.
This is friendship. No matter what anyone else tries to insinuate, you both know it means nothing for either of you.
What you are together is simply platonic.
Friends, that’s all.
/
Somewhere along the way benefits become a factor for you two.
These are the sort of benefits that forgo late night convenience store runs for ramen and other delicious, overly processed foods that Yamagchi and Sugawara blanch at the two of you over. Instead it’s the kind that means heated kisses in one another’s bedroom and wandering hands in places very few people have become privy to in both your two-decades long reign on this planet.
And, it all starts over a simple experiment.
At least that’s what you and Tsukishima like to call it.
/
“Isn’t it stupid that Ennoshita would say that?” Tsukishima asks, glancing at you from the corner of his eye. “We can be friends. How can he say it’s impossible for us to be just friends? I mean there’s nothing wrong with being attracted to one another, right? You’re good looking. I’m good looking. We’re acknowledging each other’s attractiveness.”
He pats the open space beside him on his bed, feeling it dip a little soon afterwards. You’re visiting him after he blew off the post-kickback get together. He shouldn’t be surprised that you came by to check on him.
You smile at him as one of your fingers pokes his cheek. “You sound awfully bothered over something that shouldn’t matter.”
He frowns at your nonchalant tone, even if you are messing with him.
Tsukishima has never been that particularly fond of other people telling him that his friendship with you is only the stepping stone to something more, that it would only be a matter of time before you two were calling one another cutesy pet names and holding hands for other reasons than as a precaution from getting lost in crowds, and that if he didn’t step up to the plate now, then he would lose you to someone else.
But how could he? If anything, you’ve been more against love than him. Seeing you with someone else is as impossible as seeing Hinata at Aone’s height. Possibly with some help, but still highly unlikely.
“I mean, aren’t you? So what if we’re attracted to each other? That doesn’t mean we’re going to start dating because of that.”
You hum in affirmation.
You know he has a point. It’s silly to expect two friends to date when both your admissions came as a result from a simple game of “truth or dare.” While it comes from a place of truth, it isn’t like either of you admitted to harboring deep-seated feelings for one another or anything. It’s simply an admission of truth.
He thinks you’re attractive, beautiful even, and it helps that you share the same opinion as him when it comes to love. And, you think he’s attractive, handsome even, and it’s because you both share the same opinion on love that he doesn’t have to worry about frivolous things like falling in love with you. Or you with him. Your dynamics just work like that.
“You know, there are other alternatives to relationships anyway, right?” you ask him, watching as he turns to face you on the bed.
“Like what? Hooking up?” He feels a little dumbfounded. The idea of hooking up with you never really occurred to him. Clearly not because he wasn’t attracted to you, but didn’t those end up… badly?
You nod.
Seeing the instant confusion wash over his face, you explain, “Yeah, hook-ups aren’t so bad. It’s like a one and done. It doesn’t even have to lead to anything more. It’s like a preliminary thing. Trial or whatever. We give it a go and if it doesn’t work out, then we can just go back to being friends.”
“And if it does? Work out, I mean,” he gulps. He doesn’t want to think of an option that means losing you or this friendship. But he’s intrigued, he wouldn’t have asked if he wasn’t, and you know it.
“Then we have one of two options.”
He blinks. “Which are?”
“Well, if it does, then we can continue and enjoy the fun. Or, we really fuck ourselves over and do exactly what our friends have been betting on for years.” You lean in closer, eyes alight with mischief and interest.
He feels a tug within him to concede, as if his own body knows its answer, while his mind’s doubts seem to lower in volume the longer he’s under your gaze.
“What do you say? Up for an experiment?”
He still has to ask: “And, what if we can’t go back from this?”
“I don’t know,” you whisper, eyes softening as you note his hesitancy. “Even that’s something I can’t answer. This is just a risk we both have to be willing to take. Truthfully, I’m in. But, are you? I-it’s okay if you aren’t, though, Kei. This was just a suggestion, of course—”
He doesn’t take a second longer to tell you his decision.
“I’m in.”
After all, it couldn’t hurt… right?
 /
Tsukishima discovers many things in this time.
Things that he never really gave a second thought on. Somewhere between how you look bathed in moonlight with the curtains half-open to the just-right way you feel beside him, he realizes how soft your skin is, how low and husky your voice can get when you’re feeling a particular way, and how powerful you are.
There’s something enticing about you. Not just in the way you look bare, but the way you can make him feel even without the lack of clothing. He realizes that he enjoys the lingering taste of your lips against his, the heat that your fingertips leave behind, and the small voice you use when you call his name.
It’s normal, he tries to convince himself. This is how it should be.
It would be ridiculous to hate the way you feel or sound when it comes to him. And while that is true, that becomes a whole different matter when it bleeds into everyday life outside of the bedroom.
He swears there are moments where he can hear you say his name and you aren’t even in the room. His eyes catch sight of something familiar, at least enough to remind him of you, and suddenly you’re popping up front and center in his mind. He can’t help but smile, of course.
Even just the taste of last night’s kiss rears its head when he’s doing homework, suddenly taking him right back to that night you two shared talking about the latest fantastical escapade in his reading arsenal.
He believes the simplicity of these exchanges is the best part of this entire experiment.
Being able to switch between friendship and, well, sex. And he isn’t sure if the consistent exposure to your presence has brought him to think of you constantly or if it’s some other seed blooming in the vestiges of his chest. He can’t say. Partially because he’s scared to. Because admitting to the second possibility means changing something good, something normal. And change, in this regard, often means a relationship. One that he isn’t sure if such feelings will truck through or crash and burn the moment he mentions it.
Instead when you call out his name, looking at him with furrowed eyebrows and a fingertip tapping his cheek, he flashes one of his heartwarming smiles your way and brushes aside the concern.
“It’s nothing,” he tells you. “I’m fine. Everything is perfect.”
And while you aren’t convinced, you simply nod and take note to ask another day.
/
The thing that bothers Tsukishima most is being fickle.
He doesn’t like being fickle. He knows it is transcribed in the stars that he is a fickle being. And it doesn’t help that everyone is constantly telling him that he is indecisive. He knows already. He knows it well. He hates it, but only when it comes to you.
He is never indecisive with you. Well, only because you’re the assurance he needs when it comes to decision-making. Maybe it’s your influence. You’re bullheaded and more self-assured than Patrick Verona from “Ten Things I Hate About You.” (Mind you, you’re the one who forced him to watch it. And, fortunately, he wound up loving it.)
He constantly thinks about how opposed those two main leads are about love, simply because it is exactly against what everyone else expects from high school teenagers. They don’t conform to the status quo. They make their own status quo. Perhaps that is where Tsukishima garnered such a strong stance against love from. Partially from the movie and mostly from you.
While everyone is banking on your relationship to become more than just friends, he truly can’t help but consider the possibility of a ‘more’ with you anymore. He realizes this when he sees you underneath the incandescent fairy lights hanging around your room.
Your tranquil visage, how effortless you look sporting one of his T-shirts with a giant crescent moon on the back, and the way your limbs so effortlessly remain entangled. This is comfortable. This is… right.
He doesn’t stop himself from brushing aside the stray locks covering your face. Normally, he might like to turn over and occupy another part of the bed, but he prefers to remain where he is with you in his arms, just so he can listen for your soft and steady breathing like his own personal lullaby. If he was brave enough, he probably would’ve kissed your cheek.
Truthfully, if he were in a relationship with you, he truly wouldn’t mind. Not even a little bit.
Realization strikes him then. A simple, yet vital question crosses his mind, one that he hadn’t thought needed to be asked before—could you feel the same way about him?
Tsukishima doesn’t have any other answer besides I don’t know.
/
When Tsukishima said he could never be as irrational as any other lovestruck fool, he never imagined what it would be like to see you in the arms of another man.
Given, this is a man he knows well. Trusts, even. He can’t help but feel a large pang in his chest when Kuroo spins you around on the dancefloor. It’s a drunken habit that everyone either loves or hates depending on their sobriety levels, but even while sober, you seem to bask in this treatment with glee.
It makes Tsukishima grumble under his breath, “What’s so good about him anyway?”
He doesn’t ask anyone in particular and expects no one to answer him back, but a nudge and a pointed look from Sugawara tells him that his ruminations have not gone unnoticed.
Sugawara nods his head in your direction. “You finally realize you’re in love with her?”
“W-what? I am not in love… with her,” he says. It’s all weak and unconvincing.
The smirk on the silver-haired man’s face says it all, much to Tsukishima’s annoyance.
“Shut up.”
“I didn’t say anything.”
“You’re thinking about it.” He doesn’t want to say it aloud. He hardly feels right feeling what he does when you probably don’t even feel the same way anyway.
“What am I thinking that has you so peeved, Tsukishima?” Sugawara raises his eyebrow. “The truth?”
The tone elicits a wince from Tsukishima, making him frown. Not that he’s unhappy, he’s just frustrated that the proverbial cat is now out of the bag.
Tsukishima simply shakes his head, wanting nothing more than to escape from the scene. Maybe go home and burrow away into his bed, away from all of this. Afterparty milk tea trip with the rest of the group be damned. Did he really have to go when he was this emotionally compromised? Stewing right here just spells trouble, and not just for him, but for your friendship with him as well.
“You should just be honest, dude. None of this ‘experiment’ bullshit. You both lost. Own up to the results.”
Tsukishima raises an eyebrow at Sugawara. The rest of the party seems to cease with more drinks getting passed around, which he receives one quite graciously. “What are you talking about ‘both?’ It’s just me. I fell first.”
Sugawara snorts.
Tsukishima shoots him an accusatory glare, but when he receives nothing in response, he chugs down the red Solo cup without thinking of what’s inside.
The mixture kind of tastes like shit, and it makes him feel even worse, because now his mind won’t stop fixating on you and Kuroo. A match that could be made in heaven.
The dark-haired man has always been handsome, adorable at times, funny without trying particularly hard, caring, and worst of all, certain. God, was Kuroo a certain bastard. He always seemed to know what he wanted. He did as he pleased and got whatever he set his heart on too.
It’s cruel, really. The way fate has metaphorically bit him in the ass like Yamaguchi and Hinata predicted.
Tsukishima can’t stand the thought that maybe you would choose Kuroo’s sauve side tonight. He particularly dislikes that he really did lose his chance thinking that this experiment would last forever. A few months should’ve sufficed. Should’ve. But only an idiot would let something as good as you be a temporary fling.
“Maybe I’m the idiot,” he mutters, shutting his eyes.
Sugawara doesn’t respond immediately, in fact, he doesn’t respond at all. Instead a voice he swears is yours does.
“Who’s an idiot?” Fingertips digging into his sides are unlike Yamaguchi or even Sugawara. In fact, these ones are all too familiar, even with two layers of clothing blocking access to his bare flesh. “Kei?”
When he looks at the perpetrator, he nearly tumbles over to see you in Sugawara’s place.
You immediately steady him by interlocking one of his arms with yours, and it’s only you. No Kuroo trailing behind you. No Sugawara in sight either. It’s just you and him walking toward an empty section of the house. Milk tea trip really be damned, you seemed to tell him.
“Are you alright?” He notices you make eye contact with Yamaguchi before you two round the corner into the surprisingly unoccupied hallway.
Tsukishima’s begrudgingly grateful that Kageyama’s place is a lot spacier than he remembers. It’s enough that he’s been granted some relief—no trip or an audience to bear witness to his major crash and burn.
He sighs. “N—yeah. Er, no.”
“Yes or no? Which it is.” You flash him a half-smile as he sways inside the empty guest bedroom.
He looks around after noting just how quiet it is without the thumping bass of music or the chatter of others drowning out just about everything else. It feels bare here somehow.
He shakes his head.
“Why?” Your eyebrows screw together. “What’s wrong? Are you hurt?”
“I fucked up,” he whispers. Looking from the beige walls covered bare of any sentiments, he meets your softened gaze. “I fucked up the experiment.”
“How did you do that?”
“T-the results are inconclusive. I can’t continue, because,” he rubs the back of his head, “well, I caught feelings.”
The surprise is evident on your visage, even from the weak lighting created by the moon and street lamp outside. But he can’t deny seeing the sight of a smile beginning to grace your features either. Amusement, he can discern with absolute certainty. Relief, dare he say? All of the things he never imagined in any of his scenarios about this moment.
“Leave it to you to be able to use big words when you’re buzzed.”
“It’s true. We can’t continue this. I mean I’d love to have something with you, but this isn’t a one and done for me. Not anymore. Maybe not ever.”
“Really? You mean that?” Even though you won’t say it directly, he knows there’s a huge burden of thoughts on your mind from the way your bottom lip gets captured by your teeth.
“Yeah, I mean it. I—I can’t pretend that I don’t love you anymore. I just can’t. I don’t think I ever expected to feel this way for anyone, but spending so much time with you in and out of bed has shown me that whatever shit I said before has gone completely out of the window. I mean I’m not asking you to be with me if that’s not what you want, but if at all, you feel something too, then…” He can’t help but fiddle with his fingers. Why is his heart beating so loudly? Can’t you hear it?
“You love me?”
He swears then that you probably can.
Slowly, he nods. “I don’t know how I came to love you exactly, but it just struck me when you were sleeping. It felt right that you were beside me. Easy and comfortable, even. I debated so hard about what these feelings were when it came to you. I didn’t think I could like someone this much. But I just do. I just love you for you, for being there... for existing.”
The last part has his cheeks burning, and Tsukishima can’t help but look away to save himself the humiliation of looking like a fresh tomato. You laugh when he does this, and he can’t even help himself from trying to catch a glimpse.
He loves your soft exhale, it’s one that he relishes in. Somehow you don’t look as perturbed or aghast as he expects. If anything, you look quite content. It makes him wonder if Sugawara was right, if everyone else was right all along.
He asks, “Well, what do you say?”
This time you laugh again. A much louder, but he can’t help but break out into a broad grin, because the atmosphere feels lighter than any tension breaking to grip the room. He knows without being told.
“Only you, Kei. Of course, I love you too.”
His heart swells, and a greedy part of him wants to hear you say it again. “Really?”
You nod and look at him as if there couldn’t possibly be any other answer out there. “There’s no one else in this world that could understand me the way you do. No one could touch me like you, make me laugh like you, and certainly not watch ‘Ten Things I Hate About You’ five million times with me like you.”
“Five million and one times,” he corrects.
His fingers shyly brush away the hair threatening to cover your face, and he refuses to be denied that luxury. Not when he can’t seem to get enough of you. He can’t even bear to move his hand away after he’s done it. “And I’d watch it over and over again with you, by the way.”
“Good.” You smile at him, cupping your hand over his. “I’m glad we finally came to a conclusion on this.”
“Even if it means getting ‘I-told-you-so’s’ and teased to all hell?” He smiles when you nod. “Good, ‘cuz I don’t think I’d have it any other way.”
“Yeah, me either,” you say, leaning in to peck his lips. Of course, he returns the gesture (and then some).
(The room is empty, after all.)

Probably in order to showcase that even the Lan sect rules were not as mighty as the Jin’s strength. We are the strong sect that came through the war in the best shape. We are the ones with a sect leader who knows what he’s doing. We know better than your silly rules.
Jin Guangshen really lucked out on having three other great sect leaders who were all young men, Nie Mingjue as the oldest of them is probably twenty-four at most compared to Jin Guangshan’s fifties and he uses it. The pressure in the scene is most on does the sect that holds itself apart with rules stand against the Jin sect and risk alienation, or fall into line with the “right” way of things. Which Wei Wuxian proceeds to smash by saying that he is the sort of person that will stand even alone against these actions and help those being pressured by the Jin.
That is why they target the Lan sect. To prove that no one is better than they are. Break your rules or break the peace. Which option is the better one? Can you really actually choose a side, Lan Xichen.
Random Thought #23: was Lan Xichen, a sect leader of a great sect, really gonna let himself and his clan be publicly disrespected at another sect’s banquet in which they were guests? And by a nobody in that sect who didn’t participate in the war effort while the Lan did??? Like, I really want to know how that whole thing would’ve went down had Wei Wuxian not stormed in to ask after Wen Ning.

A very short one-shot for Jeje and Mikuni's birthdays
I know I'm late for Mikuni, please just consider the story is taking place on October 1st.
Mikuni wasn't fond of parties. Not anymore, at least. There used to be a time when the manor got pretty lively on this particular day. But now, even though he wasn't there to witness it, he could imagine it was but a plain and normal day at the Alicein mansion. Of course, he'd be lying if he said he didn't enjoy all the attention, the presents, the praises, and everything that came along with celebrating his birthday. It was just... something he could live without. Compared to the other, more considerable losses, this one was irrelevant. Laughable, even. And yet, it was at this very moment, that Mikuni felt the loneliest. It wasn't the celebration in itself he missed, but the people who were there to take part in it. People he loved and couldn't see anymore, people who had loved him in return and couldn't anymore. For quite various reasons, but the conclusion was the same. His deceased mother could never wish him happiness again, and neither would Misono nor his father.
Today could have been a delightful day, but all joy had died that night, as well. Celebrating had become meaningless, worse, it would be painful more than anything. From now on, Mikuni's birthday would be a regular day. That was what he wanted.
So why did his chest hurt so much? He had come to terms with his past decisions, since then. He'd known about the consequences. He preferred it being like this, a hundred times more than what could have been. But it still hurt. Maybe because this date was special, maybe because he only truly realized now all that he'd lost. Perhaps it was because he knew no one could make today the same as before, too. For all of those reasons, Mikuni felt empty like he hadn't felt in a while.
Then, he remembered a conversation he once had with Tsurugi. About being jealous of him. Obviously, the blond had denied it. What could he possibly envy about the raven? His situation was just as bad, if not worse than his. But as of now, it did feel like jealousy. Tsurugi may not have the best life here at C3, but he at least had Touma and a few friends to think about his birthday. Mikuni didn't even have that. It was such a pathetic thought, but it was true nonetheless. Tsurugi had something Mikuni didn't. And he sometimes hated him for it.
Jeje turned around upon hearing someone sneeze, and sighed when he saw it was only Tsurugi.
"Tissues... on the table...you should... dress warmer. Fall... is already here."
"Sure, thanks, Jeje-chan!" The man said, hopping on a chair. "This mission was so boring, I couldn't wait to come back. Where is Kuni?"
Jeje swayed from one foot to another, visibly uneasy.
"He is still... working. He said... he wanted calm and... silence."
Tsurugi downright pouted, a childish mannerism to express his disappointment. "Heeeeh, is he for real? Today is his birthday, though. Where is the fun in filling out paperwork?"
The vampire fumbled with his sleeves. "I don't think... he is... looking forward to his... birthday." He muttered, and Tsurugi noticed the hint of guilt in his voice.
"Well, for starters, did you wish him an happy birthday? That could help." He said, a brow raised.
"He... probably... doesn't want to hear it from me..."
The raven leaned forward, his elbows on the table and his chin resting on his hands. He looked irritated somehow and that sure was something new.
"Jeje-chan, that is, how should I put it? Yeah, you're being stupid."
The taller man was about to get irritated as well, but Tsurugi went on.
"Look, what I'm saying is, you can't know how he feels nor what he wants if you don't ask or try. Kuni-chan has no one besides you to remember - well, I happen to know because it's written on his registration - but anyway, of course it would make him happy to hear it. That's only natural. Even if he denies or try to hide it behind a facade, he has a heart. And he's too sensitive for his own liking."
Jeje bit on his lower lip, pondering on what the raven had just said. He knew his eve had been moody since this morning, just as he knew his family's absence, today of all days, was weighing on him. He just felt like it wasn't his part to play.
"Even so..." he began eventually, "I can't replace... his family. It will never... be the same, for him."
Tsurugi was quiet for a moment, as for once, he was thinking of the best way to say things. It was soon obvious what he should tell Jeje.
"Okay, you may be right. It will indeed never be the same. But it doesn't have to be such a bad thing. What I mean is, from now on, what you have to do is to make it as good as you can. And then, little by little, you will both get new habits and find a way of your own to celebrate it. Kuni-chan... he's stubborn, and I'm sure he can be resentful, but he has a sense of what's right and what's not. So it's unlikely that he hates you to begin with. Therefore, being wished a happy birthday, even if you're not best friends, would still make him a little joyful."
Silence followed his statement. Jeje couldn't argue against that, as his analysis of Mikuni was so sharp. He was admittedly impressed, since Tsurugi always acted like an idiot. He hadn't thought he could have such a good understanding of people. After being stared at insistently for a solid thirty seconds, Jeje resigned himself.
"Alright... I will... talk to him."
The raven smiled like a contented child, his arms proudly crossed on his chest.
"Good, good!"
The afternoon was near it's end when Mikuni got it over with, not that it mattered. All he wanted was for this day to finish quickly, so maybe the one after he would forget about it already. It was so frustrating. He knew there was nothing he could do to change anything now, but it was bugging him nonetheless. It was as though a little, pestering voice kept reminding him, 'hey, you're all alone for your birthday. You ruined everything, so this is entirely your fault, tough'. And at this point he was tempted to go to sleep if it meant it would shut up. It would most likely have to wait, if the knock on the door was anything to go by.
He'd be lying again if he said he wasn't a tad bit surprised to see Jeje.
" What? I said I needed calm, didn't I?"
While it was far from an engaging start, his tone wasn't as spiteful as he had meant it to be. He had mostly sounded tired.
"I know... but you've been here all afternoon and... I thought you should... take a break." Jeje mumbled, which made Mikuni look at him quizzically. He had never acted out of his own initiative before. Rather, he had never gone against his eve's indications.
"Oh." Mikuni said, "Well, there is no need anyway. I'm done."
"That's... good."
Well, now it was awkward. Mikuni wasn't too sure, be it because of the fatigue or the unrealistic side of the situation, but was Jeje acting shy?
"Yeah, I guess." He spoke, "If that was all-"
But, unexpectedly enough, Jeje wasn't done, and Mikuni stopped midway after hearing a distant voice.
"Ha..."
The blond eve frowned, Jeje was being so weird and he had no idea why. Plus, he wasn't in the mood and it was beginning to annoy him.
"What?" He asked, and this time the vampire straightened his posture a little more.
"... happy birthday."
Mikuni legit blinked, his mouth slightly open in disbelief. "Huh?" He genuinely thought he had misheard, that he was imagining things. But his servamp surprised him even more by repeating that sentence. Louder, and firmer.
"Happy birthday, Mikuni."
The eve closed his mouth, opened it again, and in the end closed it. His troath felt dry for some reason, and his chest stinged in a manner that was oddly familiar. It was a strange warmth that spread and that he used to identify as joy.
Jeje was standing here, perfectly still, apparently waiting for an answer of sort. The way his mouth formed a line indicated that he wasn't too sure of what to do next, and Mikuni himself would have liked a notice.
At last, the only logical thing he could do was to thank him, and even then, he had trouble to process it. The embarrassed mess who spoke was totally not him, either.
"Oh, yeah. Right. Thank you."
Jeje seemed to relax afterwards, but it was still strangely tense. Mostly because Mikuni had a hard time believing it had happened. The vampire tried to think of a normal thing to do in this situation, or remember something the Alicein used to do on their birthdays. But then he recalled that Tsurugi had adviced to do something new, and decided he should just ask his eve at this point.
"So... Is there something... you want to do? Or eat?"
Truthfully, Mikuni's face was priceless, and perhaps someday he could even laugh about it, but not now. Right now Jeje was relieved, above all things.
"Some good tea would be nice, I suppose." Mikuni said eventually. "Also, a midnight stroll in the park. And why not cake, but I'm not going to eat it by myself, so... "
It was Jeje's turn to be started, and despite not being fond of sweet things, he couldn't turn down the offer.
"I... see. Then... I'll... have some. If that's... okay."
And then, Mikuni smiled for the first time in months.
"That would be alright."
Jeje poured a second cup of Ceylan tea for his eve, while the latter cut the small cake they had just bought. Tsurugi's present had been to negotiate a night out of C3 base without surveillance, and it was admittedly the best. Mikuni had cringed upon having the raven pester him about his birthday, of course, but his soft expression later on had told Jeje that he was thankful. The servamp could feel himself smiling, ever so slightly, as he put the cup on the table, and he was glad for the way it had all played out in the end. Mikuni was indeed loving his birthday, in a way, despite everything, and it was all the vampire could ask for.
It was when they were coming back from their walk, couple hours later, that Mikuni asked him out of the blue.
"By the way, Jeje. When is your birthday?"
Then again, it startled him. For one thing, no one had asked him that in a long, very long time. And for another one, he had stopped caring since he had become an immortal monster and had incidentally forgotten about it.
"I... don't know." He replied simply.
Mikuni hummed, and when the clocks indicated one minute past midnight, arbitrarily declared,
"In that case, your birthday should be today".

OKAY OKAY OKAY I JUST FOUND THIS BLOG A FEW DAYS AGO AS A COINCIDENCE BUT I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS GAME NOW
Sorry gushing over now. What would be the reaction of the LIs who are already in a relationship with MC if she slapped their ass for no reason while they were just minding their own business? Like getting ready in the morning and MC casually gives them a smack as she walks by or something along those lines lol.
Warden: Scolds MC! Catches himself. Apologizes. Takes back his apology. Acts weird for a while – you know when you’re like so embarrassed you don’t know what to do so you’re just kinda Miffed and Sulky... yeah. That’s just his reaction to the first time though. After a while he’d get the hang of it (even encourage it) and find it enjoyable. U_U But preferably behind closed doors.
Griffin: I can only imagine this happening if Griffin is like, lying on his stomach and making a collage of newspaper clippings or smthng… in which case she’d go “AH” and try to roll over and get revenge – loudly protesting that it was UNFAIR, his guard was down, MC needs to get over here so she can spank her back. If MC refuses, he’ll play the long con and get in a booty smack when she least expects it, like during an important phone call.
Mia: Shrieks, grabs MC by the wrist and pulls her face to face. … Kisses her hard as punishment??? (I’m actually surprised by this one.) She calls MC a “Bad girl!”
Dart: Grunts, goes very stiff, debates for a solid minute how he’s going to respond… Ultimately talks himself into having a sense of humor about it and graciously forgives MC for the display of Blatant Disrespect.
… But then he’ll bring it up in the middle of some wildly irrelevant topic, like if they’re arguing in front of other people. “Dart, did you forget to buy 2% milk again?” “Hmm. It looks like smacking my ass has caused some memory loss… This one’s on you, MC.” “????”
Jade: Makes a weird noise bc wow MC you basically just smacked a flat board of an ass. How does it feel to practice karate? Hi-yah… Anyway Jade will just cover her butt with her hands and scooch away, looking as scandalized and disappointed as a wet cat.

** the disclaimer still applies: don’t fucking dogpile, don’t harass using this as a springboard. furthermore, do NOT @ robin about this for fuck’s sake she’s already taken far more than what was warranted and this is not about her **
@daciafelix, out of respect for robin’s request to lay things to rest, I will be speaking to you on a separate post here.
however, I will not be letting your replies on the post in question slide. I’m very angry with you, and I want you to fucking know it. I’ll paste the three replies here.
1:
mirrorofprinces go back under the bridge please. Robin, you should ignore the trolls, they aren’t solitary creature it seems. You apologized and you should move on. I am tired of seeing a good author beaten down by people who don’t seem to understand how nonprofit fictional worlds work, not to mention reality. Dear “Chinese diaspora” , your trauma is real, attacking people is not the way to solve it. This type of attitude is what got Archiveofourown banned in China.
what the actual fuck was this? “Dear ‘Chinese diaspora’“? you have the audacity to tell us not to attack people while mocking us in the same goddamn breath? the lack of self-awareness that takes is stunning. congratulations for lowering the fucking bar once again!
perfunctorily saying that our “trauma is real” means nothing when the rest of your response dismisses us wholesale as “trolls”, insults our cultural identity -- one that we have repeatedly explained is a complex, difficult topic -- asserts that we have no grasp on the politics of fandom, that we’re delusional, and then!! has the fucking sanctimonious presumption to blame us for CCP censorship of AO3 in china. whether or not you intended any of that is irrelevant, because you still fucking said all of it and we still fucking heard it.
you don’t know jack fucking shit about the 227 event and it shows. the lack of respect that you exhibited in this reply is unbelievable. I was fucking there when this went down, I cried for days. I watched my chinese friends having mental breakdowns in private forums, a chinese friend i had met literally two weeks prior on AO3 emailed me in dismay for what had happened -- this is someone who had been working up the courage to send me a message for literal months and we managed to exchange emails just before the firewall went up -- you don’t understand, you can’t understand the sort of devastation that was felt. if you did, you wouldn’t have brought it up like this as a cudgel for sweeping our legitimate pain aside. blaming the victims for the acts of a violent and oppressive government is a fucking shitty look.
2:
Cloudyfromoobsession I have read it [*the chinese diaspora statement], it makes me really disappointed. They treat fan fiction as some deep existential writing, which is not necessarily wrong but they have to acknowledge that not everyone is divining the meaning of life in a mdzs fic or any other fandom. Transformative work as a principle is based in the exploration of alternative visions starting from a canonical point, there is no rule that fan fic needs to appease a certain portion of the fandom or even stay true to canon.
I see that you have shit reading comprehension as well! not to mention a seriously questionable philosophy on the responsibility of transformative work as a whole. once again, you mock our genuine efforts to express something very important to us by saying that not everyone is trying to “divine the meaning of life” from a fic -- we never once said that fandom wasn’t supposed to be lighthearted and fun -- I’m pretty sure we said the opposite in fact! I love that you think that our concerns are a matter of taking things too seriously! you’re basically just telling us hey, it’s not that deep! let it go!
why should i fucking have to let this go when so many people act like you and have in every sphere of my life from the time I was born? why should I continue to bite my tongue, smile and play nice? because it’s not convenient when the model minority kicks up a fuss?
“there is no rule that fan fic needs to appease a certain portion of the fandom or even stay true to canon,” you say, like our race, identity, generational trauma, are just a matter of differing headcanons or taste. this isn’t about fucking appeasement, it’s about human respect and compassion. no, there’s no rule that all fic has to match anyone’s personal taste, but there is a fucking expectation that fic, and any other creative endeavor in this community, has a responsibility to examine its own impact in context. how explicit must the harm be before you put your foot down? if the characters said “ching chong” and chinese diaspora shouted it down, would you still say, “well, it doesn’t have to appease you”? “just look away”? “but I liked it”?
tell me to ignore my own oppression again for your personal comfort, I fucking dare you.
3:
mirror, as the author has asked to put all this to rest I will not engage with you. I’m well aware that Chinese censorship is a more complex issue and larger that a fandom spat, and yes it had nothing to do with chinese diaspora fans, it was the spirit of this type of “poisoning the well” I was invoking.Limited word comments are not good for exhaustive discussion. But being rude and dismissive to someone who apologized(I mean the author) makes you an immature bully. Good day
funny how you think you can act like you’re taking the moral high ground by acting like you’re complying with robin’s wishes to “lay things to rest” when you ignored her requests to stop defending her twice with your asinine bullshit. if you’re going to act like you’ve got the moral high ground, you better make damn fucking sure you actually have it.
I am going to give you. a sliver of the benefit of the doubt and try to believe that you didn’t intentionally try to justify your sinophobia using a turn of phrase with  antisemitic associations (one that was already discussed at length during the previous incident). I know that the history of “poisoning the well” isn’t terribly well-known, so this is just a reminder/to let you know that it’s a loaded phrase and should be used with caution, especially in a discussion that involves antisemitism.
in any case, you’ve already demonstrated an incredible amount of ignorance regarding chinese politics, so I don’t see any reason to believe that you are “well aware” of the complexity that underlies chinese censorship. the fact that you invoked it at all betrays how little sense you have of the history, how close it is, how much very real, terrifying harm has been wrought -- people love to use the CCP as a gotcha! to shut down or derail conversations about sinophobia. it’s an extremely common tactic, whether or not you realized it. do you all not realize that the people who suffer the most from an oppressive government are the people that live under its shadow? why is that so hard to grasp?
i have friends younger than me whose parents were close enough to tiananmen to hear the first shots ring out. the daughter of one of the photographers of tank man that snuck it out of the country is a year older than I am. my mother has been cautioning me for having political views since I was in middle school, citing the red guards of her generation and how they were manipulated and left to die by the CCP. I could tell you about shit that happened in my immediate family that would make your blood curdle. these stories are not unique or rare. keep that in mind the next time you want to whip out the CCP in an argument.
you’ve stated that limited character replies aren’t a good medium for discussion. fine. you’re welcome to pick this up in reblogs if you want. I’ve said my piece. good fucking day.

Just finished the epilogues - and we really enjoyed them
We started reading homestuck in around 2012, in our early 20s.  We never picked up being a live reader after the gigapause - we were in the middle of a major life transition which ended with us learning how to self care after reaching our limits and realizing it wasn’t working.  For a long time, we avoided going back to it.  It was such an important story that we had fond memories of.  Now that we had grown up a lot, would we still enjoy it?  When we did go back to finish the story as an archive reader, we loved it.  The characters we met so long ago had grown up with us.  This was our second major life transition and both times we were lucky to have a work of fiction grow up with us.
The epilogues came out during another major life transition for us - no longer focusing on trying to make the world a better place.  Again, we were nervous that we would have outgrown homestuck and that the characters would no longer resonate with us.  A month or two ago, we moved away from exploring a hobby focused existence back towards a people focused existence and decided to read the epilogues.  Immediately, we were transported back to a time in our life where we had more hope.  Throughout the story, we reaffirmed our connections to the characters and fell in love with them all over again.  We’re smiling as we write this, enjoying the feeling of a work of fiction following us through a second life transition.
Meat - we didn’t realize it until writing this, but the characters were so focused on providing relevance, essentiality, and truth and so much was happening, especially under Dirk’s influence, that character growth was way more limited here.  While we appreciated the story, we feel like the extra character development in candy means it ironically has more meat to the story
Candy - this is the epilogue we fell in love with.  Immediately, we could tell it was a “happily ever after” reality and just the message of “dealing with the world’s problems is optional” was powerful for us.  The rollercoaster of emotions as characters developed was wonderful and we loved every bit!
Aradia - our first homestuck introject!  We were sad that she didn’t get much dialogue after the gigapause, but the epilogues provided the perfect finish for her.  As she talked about the corpse party, we fell in love with her all over again
(Vriska) - a minor introject of our system.  We were happy to see (Vriska) mellow out as she got older and is in a place where she has a chance at happiness.  It’s an amazing finish to her character
Terezi - also happy that she got a chance at happiness.  Early on, we hated her, but as she passed through her redemption arc in act 6 she grew and grew on us.  A common theme was giving up a quest leading to some moments of happiness and Terezi was no exception
Dirk/Jane/Jake - we never felt much connection to these characters so didn’t feel strongly attached to the disappointing development for them
John - his candy arc was powerful as a foil to the others.  He couldn’t let go of narrative irrelevance and repeatedly sabotaged the happiness he could have had.  After Candy, his death in Meat feels like a fairly happy ending for him
Calliope - awesome additions to their character - exploring gender and becoming a super powerful character.  Would have liked to see more, but we’ll take what we get
Kanaya - the contrast of Kanaya happy in Candy and her deep sadness in Meat was powerful.  We felt so bad for her after she realized what Dirk had done
Dave/Karkat - it was super satisfying to see them finally kiss in Meat.  They worked so hard to earn it and it was a satisfying end
Jade - watching Jade wander around the world as a free spirit felt amazing.  It was sad watching her destroy what Dave/Karkat could have been, but the addition of her wandering freely was an incredible addition.  To a larger degree than anyone, it felt like she got to be free and spend time enjoying her youth.  We love how this was presented in a way that made us feel very happy for Jade while at the same time understanding that it wasn’t eternally sustainable and that she would eventually have to transition further into adulthood
Roxy - in our system, our Roxy introject was one of joy, based on “why is everything always so wonderful?”  It’s incredible to watch Roxy grow up to be what we considered to be the most well rounded adult in the epilogues.  She remained outwardly chill and relaxed while simultaneously actively working on herself and growing into someone comfortable with herself.
We absolutely loved the gender split of Roxy and already have a Roxy subsystem building in our system along the gender divide.  In our own transition story, it was years before we were fully confident transition had been a huge positive.  When we started hrt, there was a period of a few months where we weren’t sure it was the right decision.  Even when it was definitely a positive, we wondered whether not transitioning would have worked for us.  It wasn’t until years later that we managed to piece together a narrative that confirmed that not transitioning wouldn’t have worked for us.  Seeing Roxy question her gender in one fork and decide she’s comfortable in her body as is while in another fork he decided to transition was incredibly powerful and something we wish had more representation in fiction.
Rose - we saw some fanart of Rose, Kanya and baby Vriska together and cried.  Rose’s story was by far the most powerful to us.  “I never thought I would actually get to be happy” is a phrase which resonates so much with us as we’re learning how to be happy in the Candy epilogue of our life.  By abandoning her greater pursuits of making the world a better place, she’s able to settle into a far narrower scope where she’s happy.  A story where a beloved character maintaining a veil of ignorance and avoiding the pursuit of knowledge to be happy is incredibly powerful.  Even more powerful is the message that it’s ok to do so and live your life.  Rose spent so many years working hard to get to that point and now it’s ok for her to retire and live a quiet happy life.
The tale of Rose being happy against a backdrop of a major war was an excellent choice.  Even better is the choice not to tell the story of the war and narratively saying that the war is far less important than the final development of individual characters.  What a lovely way to finish Candy.
As we read the epilogues and reaffirmed deep connections with some of the characters and followed their development, we knew that homestuck was something we continued to love.  Back in ~2012, we got to be a part of the fandom, a part of something far larger than ourselves and we deeply appreciate the experience.  An encore to that through the epilogues and writing about them has been wonderful experience a decade later.  As we’ve grown up, the story and characters of homestuck have grown up with us and we wouldn’t trade that for anything in the world.  We’re sitting here smiling as much as we were when we started writing this and are fairly certain we want to start a reread to reexperience these wonderful characters.  If we’re lucky, we’ll be able to pick up a Rose introject along the way!
