wip: Black Thumb
The first flower Link brought down from the sky to plant carefully in the surface soil wilted overnight, flopping morosely against the ground when he awoke the next morning.
The second flower suffered a similar fate, as did the third—and it was as Link knelt beside the shriveled remains of the fourth that Ghirahim finally saw fit to say something. What had started as strange behavior was quickly becoming an indecipherable pattern, and Link's disappointment as he cradled the bit of withered plant, though mild, felt palpable.
“This falls pathetically short of bloodshed.”
Link's brow furrowed, but he didn't respond. Eyeing him with dry curiosity, Ghirahim tried again.
“Is it your hope to inflict the same incremental death upon every flower that blooms in the sky?” he asked. “There are quicker ways to go about it.”
This time, Link huffed, shaking his head.
“No,” he sighed with more than a touch of exasperation. “The idea is for them to survive.”
“Aha. And the reason for this endeavor…?” But Link only shrugged, curving ever-so-slightly in on himself, and with his own exasperated huff, Ghirahim lost interest. “Well, the fifth time is the charm, as they say.”
“Can you help?” Link asked abruptly, face brightening for all the world as if he'd had a thought worth speaking aloud. Ghirahim stared, first at Link's calloused, dirt-stained hands, and then pointedly at his own pristine, white gloves.
“Not my area of expertise.”
“No, I mean…” Link wiggled his fingers in a gesture that he always seemed to consider a suitable representation of Ghirahim's vast magical skill. “Like that?”
Obligingly, Ghirahim wiggled his fingers, flicking a wrist towards the wilted bloom in Link's hands. The flower blackened, shriveling in on itself until it was nothing but a sooty smudge against Link's palms.
“Not,” Ghirahim emphasized, “my area of expertise.”
Link's head bobbed as he swallowed in startled reflex.
“Right,” he said faintly. “I'll, uh… I'll talk to Professor Owlan or something.”
“Keep me informed,” Ghirahim said in a tone that invited Link to do the exact opposite—a tone that flew right over Link’s head as, to Ghirahim's dismay, Link proceeded from then on to take him at his word.

Take as long as you need on my request Moss <333 I’m more than happy to wait however long <3
But on another note, I’ve suddenly been reminded that in the self aware aus, the boys heard *everything*. Which then reminds me, the amount of shit I’ve said during their adventures- specifically Sky and Twilight’s.
1. The shit talking I have said about enemies, some more than others (looking at you Ghirahim, Demise, Ganon, and Zant). I shit talked them whenever I saw them, especially Ghirahim honestly, bro’s hair looks greasy enough to be used to fry food, and he looks like a wet paper towel.
2. The shit I said about the Links omggg. Again, this is mainly about Sky and Twilight (honestly mainly Sky cause you’re so right, he has the sweetest sounds) because the *t h i n g s* I would do to them after they pull some cool ass shit would not, in fact, be family friendly. Ofc, I talked about how pretty they are so many times- the amount of times I moved the camera at an angel so I could see their face and gush about how gorgeous they are is,, a lot. Called them perfect so many times too: slicing grass? Perfect <3 Fighting a bokoblin? Perfect <33 Tossing a bomb? Perfect <333 honestly was using any excuse to call the boys perfect, I love them so much. AND OM THE OTHER HAND THAT REMINDS ME OF HOW OFTEN I SAID I LOVED THEM LMAOO
But I digress. Anyway, you know those thirst comments on tiktok? The type like ‘until the shape is embedded in my throat’? I pray for self aware Sky, I said unhinged shit like that all the time for him- even more so than Twilight- whenever he did anything cool. Sometimes said it when he didn’t even do anything cool; used the claw shot to get high up? Charging up for the sky slice (can’t remember the name)? Aiming Fi in the direction needed to go? Said unhinged shit then too.

yep :3c they've heard everything, every single bit of praise you've given them, every curse when you mess up - anything you said to any friends while playing? all of it.
1- I think they'd be ecstatic to hear you slandering their enemies, there would be a weird dissonance if you were fond of the villains. Not because they're jealous no, never, how could you assume that. they are and they are impossibly bad at hiding it, their hatred of seeing you praise someone else in their game might be your first clue that something is wrong with your game They also just get a good laugh at how creative some of your insults can get <3333 it's not like they hear any genuine ones often!!!!
2- it's almost impossible to play a zelda game without fawning over how cute link is (I myself have so so many screenshots of him and just can't go more than five minutes without complimenting him) and I think they'd love it!! though it makes them a bit upset that they're still trapped and can't return any of the compliments without scaring you into resetting or deleting the game :( they've got to work up the confidence that you won't abandon him before he does anything (or simply the desperation to) despite how much you've told them you love them, they've still got enough common sense to know that this isn't normal
rfgbhsbghgfbfsgb he's just going to be a blushy mess when he can finally go against the games precoded animations and has his own free movement but he's just so pretty and as flustered as he drinks up each and every one of them. [I can absolutely see him playing up a more 'pathetic' demeanor in order to milk more from you between giving you plenty back ofc] I have so many screenshots of his game ong it's an issue
peep and I were also joking about how when you put in the boss key sky's just standing there watching you struggle with the puzzle (and for dowsing he can feel you cake full control of his head to look out of his eyes and it's where he feels the closest to you <33)

I humbly offer this actually really angsty when you think about it headcanon like a sacrifice to a deity with a disclaimer that it does get existential and kinda religious (Hylia being a confirmed real and true in universe deity + the places my brain goes with that) so please just delete this if you're prone to cosmological vertigo, it's just me rambling about an idea that has fundamentally altered my neurochemistry:
Post LU Wars (scarf, time shenanigans, kind of in love w every era of the land bc his brothers came from those eras!) is subject to a final bout of time shenanigans and becomes First (scarf, from a time Before Everything, goes to forge the Goddess Sword at Hylia's behest, fights demons) (and he's already got practice fighting Ghirahim from HW!). Demise starts with an army and the power of a god and ends with one sword, a small handful of monsters, and the power of a significantly weaker god. The thought that Wars-as-First might actually have been able to win the demon war and deliberately chose not to, because if he did then his brothers would never come to be, makes me insane. The thought of how oblivious he was to the utterly profound impact he had on Hylia by introducing the idea that she could fail the task the Golden Three set for her and it would bring about life and color and beauty, the idea that this idyllic paradise was beautiful but it wasn't living. The idea that the world where she failed was better than the one she where she won because the world where she failed produced people like her hero- people who LIVED, people who loved as much as he loved his brothers. The idea that Wars meets a goddess and befriends her and it changes her fundamentally and irrevocably does something to my brain chemistry. Something something mortals who live and love and dream and die with such a passion something the way truly seeing that passion might forever alter the worldview of a deity who'd never before encountered the idea that living was something to be done like you wouldn't be able to do it forever.
My supporting evidence for Wars being able to befriend Hylia: he's already had the experience of meeting embodied existential forces and realizing they're literally just people who also happen to be facets of reality. Lana used to be a sorceress who could see across all of time and space. He vividly remembers hearing her swear at a hand mirror because she couldn't get her eyeliner right and after that he was never again able to see 'deity' before he saw 'person'. Wars running around with the idea of Hylia as a person trying her best with whatever unknown amount of power she has vs everyone else knowing her as a goddess who is above such things as being a person.
The idea of Wars and Hylia sitting down and talking about it. Maybe they only do it once. But Wars tells her: I've been there. I've seen it. The world where he didn't win but we didn't either.
And Hylia says: we might be able to prevent it. We might be able to win.
And Wars says: no.
And Hylia says: no?
And Wars says: it's the world that has my family in it. This is the world has people who are alive but that one has people who are living. We create and we love and we fight and we destroy and you can't take that from us.
Something. Something about the vivid tenacity of the human experience. Something about turning down heaven in favor of living. Something about already knowing what eating the apple means before you've even done it and doing it because your family's just outside the gates of Eden and this is how you pull them open.
DAMN this is a really interesting headcanon (also that opener was insane, I literally read it out loud to my friend who was over and they were impressed aldkdldl) this could honestly make a banger fic

Nothing like opening my eyes to a new linked universe update
Dawn pt8
My occasional source of dopamine XD
Its very satisfying seeing how all the traveling layers are put on. You can really imagine this scene animated
So a lot of important things were discussed, stuff the fandom have noticed before but its good that jojo finally mentioned them herself:
Shadow is the only this associated with the portals (pg1)
I LOVE how so many traits and experiences of the characters are shown here!!
Wild taking the blame first, he's got one heck a guilt complex (pg2)
We are just hit with everyone's emotions right off the bat and i love that!
Tumblr media
I kinda like how blunt Time is
Wars talking about how "helping the wound isn't an option," things they must consider during war (pg3)
Legend trying to lighten the mood again like he always does (pg4)
I like to see how what they think of wolfie has changed now that they know it was twilight. Wars thinking its fine if the animal goes off alone cuz it doesnt understand but now making it clear that he doesn't like it
Secrets are getting in the way (such as wolfie) and hindering their process. Maybe it wouldn't have been so clunky if tgey knew exactly who wolfie is
WARS' SCARF IS BACK BABY! I got so excited when i saw it that page, dont worry guys, he has it back now!
Legend with his puzzle mind :))) my legend-centric brain is happy (pg5)
But his teasing almost boastfullness ("it just got lucky") but then turning in to actual contemplation, i love that he is also taking things seriously
Its actively seeking them out, Hyrule is wary that it will find them, like in his adventure (pg6)
They need to get better at teamwork
Four bringing in the joke about friendly fire. He definetly knows a lot about that (im reading the four swords manga for the first time and am near the begining sooo)
They need to use their arsenal
I just gotta say that i love this shot, very pleasing to my eye for some reason. But im so excited to see how everything goes with this! Im guessing in the near future, they will be taking these but to the extreme that it hinders them so they need to practice or something
Tumblr media
Oof poor hyrule so tired of strong monsters, his games were HARD (pg7)
The power up on the sword! Ive seen a post about it before so its cool that they are noticing it, very important too!
I like the firmness with sky and time's ideas of the sword. Even though time says nothing about her we can see it, and the fact that she still sees him as her master (obviously!) It seems like they both need to sort out this dissagreement in order to not impact them even more (Pg8)
I love this especially because i just made a fic about exploring sky's and others' relationship with the master sword
I can't help but think that sky is thinking about more than just this quest in this update and back to his own adventure and maybe ghirahim. More bits in this update also make me think that ("he wants to fight" "yeah, 'cause he wont")
Tumblr media
Wind being the one most eagre to fight! And Hyrule being the one most ready to go! I love that!
I was just thinking a few bays ago about what happened to those letters, i guess we get to see now! It seems like it might be one more update before we set off properly again (pg9)
Sky looking so happy about the mail at the end :)))
We really do get a piece of everyone and their personalities in this one
Tumblr media
Im so excited for them to be on the road again!

any thoughts on how once again zelda was robbed of her agency because her "father figure" didn't listen to her? even if rauru was kinder to her than her father. and that she had sonia who was patient and loving for a little while before she died (just like her mother). i know rauru apologizes for his hubris but still, i wish we saw zelda be upset about it. and even if zelda was such a big part of the quest she still literally sacrificed her humanity once again because of someone else's mistake- because rauru literally didn't listen to the girl from the future that warned you that shit was going to go down. o know nintendo just loves putting zelda inside crystals and stones but i wish we got something better. even if it was her decision to become a dragon... did she have any other choice? it really just feels like they robbed her of agency again just like botw and the games before
i've been trying to figure out how to answer this one. because there are two ways i could analyze this plot point, either from a writer's perspective or an in-story perspective, but neither of those lead to me fully agreeing with your interpretation? I think there's definitely something to be said about zelda consistently being pushed aside in these games, but. well. ok let's get into it ig
from a writer's perspective, I do honestly have quite a bit of sympathy for the zelda devs as they attempt to navigate the modern political landscape with these games. The cyclical lore, though canonized relatively recently, holds them to a standard of consistency in their games in terms of certain key elements. one of those key elements is that there has to be a princess, and that princess must somehow be the main macguffin of the game. The player must chase her, and the end goal of the game must be to reunite the player and the princess. In 1986 this was an incredibly easy sell. women didn't need to be characters. players were content with saving a 2-dimensional princess whose only purpose was to tell them "good job!" at the end. but as society advances, that princess becomes a much more difficult character to write while adhering to the established overarching canon. (as a side note: i don't necessarily believe that the writers SHOULD be held to the standards of that canon. I think deviating from it in certain areas would be a good change of pace. but i also recognize that deviations from the formula are widely hated by the loz playerbase and that they're trying to make money off these games, so we're working under the established rule that the formula must be at least loosely adhered to.) Modern fans want a princess who is a person, who has agency and makes decisions and struggles in the same way the hero does. but modern fans ALSO want a game that follows the established rules of the canon. so we need a princess who is a real character but who can ALSO serve as a macguffin within the narrative, something that is inherently somewhat objectifying.
the two games that i think do the best job writing a princess with agency are skyward sword and botw (based on your ask, our opinions differ there lol. hear me out) in both games, we have a framing event which seperates zelda and link, but in both games, that separation was ZELDA'S CHOICE. skyward sword zelda runs away from link out of fear of hurting him. botw zelda chooses to return to the castle alone to allow link the time he needs to heal. sksw kinda fumbled later on by having ghirahim kidnap her anyway, but. i said BEST not PERFECT. botw zelda I think is the better example because, with the context of the memories, she's arguably MORE of a character than link is. we see her struggles, her breakdowns, her imperfection, specifically we see her struggle with her lack of agency within the context of the game itself. when she steps in front of link in the final memory, and when she chooses to return to the castle, those are some of the first choices we see her make almost completely free of outside influence; a RECLAMATION of her agency (within the narrative) after years of having it stripped from her. from an objective viewer's standpoint, this writing decision still means she is absent from 90% of the game and that she has little control over her actions for the duration of the player's journey. however I think this is just about the best they could have done to create a princess with agency and a real character arc while still keeping the macguffin formula intact--you're not really SAVING zelda in botw. SHE is the one that is saving YOU; when you wake up on the plateau with no memories, too weak to fight bokoblins, let alone calamity ganon. the reason you are allowed to train and heal in early-game botw is because SHE is in the castle holding ganon back, protecting YOU. When you enter the final fight, you're not rescuing zelda, you're relieving her of her duty. taking over the work she's been doing for the past hundred years. in the final hour, you both work in tandem to defeat ganon. while this isn't a PERFECT example of a female character with agency and narrative weight, i think it's a pretty good one, especially in the context of save-the-princess games like loz.
as for totk, you put a lot of emphasis on rauru not believing zelda and taking action immediately, which, again, from an objective standpoint, i understand. but even when we're writing characters with social implications in mind, those character's actions still need to... make sense. Rauru was a king ruling over what he believed to be a perfectly peaceful kingdom. zelda literally fell out of the sky, landed in front of him, claimed to be his long-lost granddaughter, and then told him that some random ruler of a fringe faction in the desert was going to murder him and he had to get the jump on it by killing him first. the ruler which this girl is trying to convince rauru to wage an unprompted war on has the power to disguise himself as other people. no one in their right mind would immediately take the girl at her word. war is not something any leader should jump into without proper research and consideration, and to rauru's credit, he DIDN'T ever outright dismiss zelda. he believed her when she said she was from the future, he allowed her to work with him and he took her warnings as seriously as he could without any further proof. but he could not wage an unprompted war on ganondorf. that's just genuinely not practical, especially for a king who values peace among his people as much as rauru seems to. as soon as ganondorf DID attack, giving rauru confirmation that zelda's accounts of the future were real, he began making preparations to confront him. remember that zelda didn't KNOW that rauru and sonia were going to be casualties of the war--she didn't make the connection between rauru's arm in the future and rauru the king until AFTER sonia's death, when rauru made the decision to attack ganondorf directly. I think the imprisoning war and the casualties of it were less an issue of zelda being denied agency and more an issue of no one, including zelda, having full context for the events as they were unfolding. if zelda had KNOWN that sonia and rauru were going to die from the beginning and was still unable to prevent it that would be a different issue, but she didn't. none of them did.
I think another thing worth pointing out with rauru and his death irt zelda is that rauru is clearly written specifically as a foil to rhoam. this is evident in how he treats both zelda and link, with a constant kindness and understanding which is clearly opposite to rhoam's dismissiveness and disappointment. consider rhoam's death and the circumstances surrounding it. He died because, in zelda's eyes, she was unable to do her duty; the one thing he constantly berated her for. Rhoam's death solidified zelda's belief that she was a failure, a belief which she KNEW rhoam held as well. his death was doubly traumatic to her because she knew he died believing it was her fault. Now contrast that to the circumstances surrounding rauru's death. Rauru CHOSE to die despite zelda's warnings, because he wanted zelda and his kingdom to live. rauru's death was not agency-stripping for zelda; in fact, it functioned almost as an admission that he believed her capable of continuing to live in his place. With him gone, the fate of the kingdom fell to her and the sages. he KNEW that he would die and still went into that battle confidently, trusting zelda to make the right decisions once he was gone. where rhoam believed zelda incapable of doing ANYTHING without link, rauru trusted zelda COMPLETELY with the fate of his kingdom. several details in totk confirm that when rauru died there was no plan for zelda to draconify, that all happened after rauru was gone. it was HER plan, the plan which rauru trusted her to come up with once he was gone. and I think it's also worth noting that zelda's sacrifice with the draconification parallels rauru's!! Rauru gives up his life trusting the sages and his people to be able to continue his work in his place. Zelda gives up her physical form trusting link and the sages in the future to be able to figure out what to do and find her. these games in general have this recurring theme but totk specifically is all about love and trust and reliance on others. zelda relies on link, link relies on zelda, they both rely on the champions and the sages and rauru and sonia and they all rely each other. reliance on others isn't lack of agency, it's a constant choice they make, and that choice is the thing which allows them to triumph.
The draconification itself is something i view similarly to zelda's sacrifice in botw--a choice she makes which, symbolically & within the confines of the narrative, is a demonstration of her reclaimed agency and places her at the center of the narrative, but which ALSO removes her from much of the player's experience and robs her of any overt presence or decisionmaking within the gameplay. again, I think this is a solution to the macguffin-with-agency dilemma, and it's probably one of the better solutions they could have come up with. Would I have liked to see a game where zelda is more present within the actual gameplay? yes, but I also understand that at this point the writers aren't quite willing to deviate that much from their formula. the alternative within the confines of this story would be to let zelda DIE in the past, removing her from gameplay ENTIRELY, which is an infinitely worse option in my opinion. draconification allowed her to be present, centered the narrative around her, and allowed the writers to reiterate the game's theme of trust and teamwork when she assists the player in the final battle, which i think was a REALLY great choice, narratively speaking.
In any case, I don't think it's right to say that zelda was completely robbed of her agency in botw and totk. Agency doesn't always mean that she's unburdened and constantly present, it means she's given the freedom to make her own choices and that her choices are realistically written with HER in mind, not just the male characters around her, and I think botw/totk do a pretty good job of writing her and her choices realistically and with nuance.

"Shouldn't he rest, though?"
"If he stays in bed too long, he'll only grow weaker."
Link turned his face away from the voices, eager to slip back into the peaceful inky black of slumber. His head was hurting too much for this.
"Wake up, little hero."
A hand shook him slightly, pushing his shoulder further into the comfortable mattress. The movement sent a spike of pain up his neck into his skull, further articulating the headache he was desperately trying to ignore. With an angry, sharp inhale, he opened his eyes.
When he turned to view the person in question, he remembered his situation.
Huffing, he rasped, "What do you want?"
"I don't need your attitude, kid," Nabooru quipped lightly. "This is for your own good. You need to get up, and you need to eat and drink."
Link came up with a few snarky responses but found he was too tired to argue the matter. He let her pull him into a seated position, and he shifted his feet to the edge of the bed hesitantly. The last time he'd tried this he'd nearly passed out. He wasn't even sure how long ago that had been at this point - the exhaustion finally seemed to have won out over his will to escape.
Did that make him pathetic or intelligent? Zelda had always pushed herself so hard and never seemed to stop. He should do better.
Gritting his teeth, the captain pushed himself to stand. Nabooru had steadying hands on him, helping him shakily take a few steps towards the door.
Alertness came to him an instant, alongside hope. He was moving! He could survey his situation better if he let her guide him outside, he could find a way to escape the Gerudo stronghold, perhaps even retrieve the Triforce that Ganondorf had stolen!
Air moved on his other side, the only hint he had of someone moving beside him before an unsettling face invaded his personal space.
"Oh, so the wretched Hero is up and about now?" Ghirahim purred, lips curling in an unsettling smile.
"You're in the way," Nabooru said flatly.
The demon lord huffed, straightening and crossing his arms. "Must you ruin the moment, woman? You don't understand how long I've waited for this."
"Your rivalry is with the spirit, not the child," Nabooru said firmly. "Leave him be."
Link blinked, confused. With the spirit?
Oh. The Spirit of the Hero. The same person Cia had fallen into an obsession with. The same person who Zelda looked to with hope and conviction and dedication. The person who was supposed to be him, the person he strove to be every day.
Why... why were they talking about it like it was someone else?
Link scoffed. "I'm not a child. I am the bearer of the Hero's Spirit. If it's a fight you want--"
The rest of the captain's statement was cut off with a yelp as Nabooru swatted at Ghirahim and dragged Link away. "That's enough of this nonsense. I took you out here to get fresh air, not pick a fight with the first idiot you find."
"Idiot?!" Ghirahim repeated, affronted, though he was left behind by the pair as Link was practically carried outside the compound.
It was evening outside, Link realized, making him feel all the more disoriented. How long had it been since his capture? How long had been asleep? It had certainly been brighter when he'd encountered Ganondorf.
As he was guided to sit in a pile of cushions, a waterskin placed into his hands, Link saw a group of Gerudo women dancing and laughing. Others were playing music, and a crowd was clapping along. On a raised platform sat their king, also enjoying the festivities, though much more solemnly than his warriors. Ganondorf's eyes flicked over to the captain a moment, studying him, and Link felt his skin crawl. He glared defiantly in return.
Ganondorf returned his attention elsewhere, and Link's brooding was interrupted when Nabooru snapped her fingers in his face.
"Drink," she ordered.
Reluctantly, Link complied. There was no point in not hydrating; he needed strength to find a way out of this place. After a few sips, his body suddenly registered just how utterly dehydrated he was, and he emptied it in a heartbeat.
Glancing to her left, Nabooru said, "Watch him."
Link looked to his right and saw another Gerudo warrior walk up beside him, sword drawn and held erect against the ground while her hands rested overtop the hilt.
"What do you people want from me?" he asked, his voice gaining some strength now that his throat wasn't quite so parched.
"I wanted to kill you," the woman grumbled, and Link recognized her as the last thing he saw before he was knocked out in battle. "But our king had other plans."
The captain once again glanced at the perpetrator of this entire mess, feeling himself shiver a little. What did such a monster want with him? He already had the Triforce, after all. Was Link needed for some kind of ritual?
Was he going to capture Zelda as well, then?
Wait... was Link bait?
He had to get out of here.
Nabooru returned quickly, a bowl of curry in her hands. She held it out to the captain, who hesitantly took it. The guard walked away silently.
"I don't suppose you can tell me why your king wants me alive," Link muttered, staring at the curry. He didn't really know how to feel about any of this at this point, except that he was most certainly on edge and wanted to get the hell away from here.
Nabooru watched him a moment, seeming to make a decision in her mind, and sat beside him to watch the dancers. The lively music didn't quite reach the cold atmosphere Link's dread generated, but the Gerudo woman at his side was a steady presence, somehow less intimidating than the others.
"You are the Hylian Hero," Nabooru said. "The Spirit of the Hero travels with you."
"I am the Hero," Link emphasized, feeling his ire rise. He had drawn the Master Sword, he had led troops into battle time and again, he bore the Triforce of Courage, and he was the one Zelda had chosen to wear the legendary garb.
"Our king is quite interested in you," Nabooru continued, ignoring his interruption. "I must confess, I didn't expect you to be so... young."
Rolling his eyes, Link looked away. "Many say that. Most don't live to regret it."
Nabooru laughed at that. "Spoken like a warrior filled with spirit and a thirst to prove himself. I admire your ability to fight, child. Don't doubt that. I started fighting around your age too. But don't forget your place. You are still young, and you know very little of the world outside of a battlefield."
"Am I going to learn about wartime strategy and politics here, then?" Link prodded, glancing back at her. "Am I being held hostage as a bartering chip?"
"My understanding of it is that you're being held to keep you safe," Nabooru answered unexpectedly, looking him in the eye with a seriousness he wasn't expecting. "But only the king knows his own plans. I just happen to be the leader of the Gerudo."
"I thought the king was?"
"He wasn't here until a few weeks ago," Nabooru replied, looking away. "Our people were mostly wiped out by Hyrule."
Link felt his throat go dry, and he had no words to say while simultaneously having so many in his mind.
What did she mean that Hyrule had wiped out the Gerudo? Had they attacked Hyrule in the past? A war between the Gerudo and Hyrule could explain why Link barely knew of their existence, and why that other guard wanted him dead. But what about the other statement, about keeping him safe? What kind of nonsense was that?
Ganondorf needed him for something, clearly. He needed him, and he knew Link was too powerful a soldier to keep in play in the war. He was crippling the Hyrulean army and preventing Link from dying so he could utilize him for something.
This had to do with the Triforce, didn't it? Link knew so little of the artifact, except for its origin story.
He wished Lana was here to explain the situation. He'd even take Impa.
Sighing, Link stared at his curry, his stomach growling but his appetite disappearing as his musings clouded his mind.

I don't exactly know which Zelda games you write for, but I could go for some Link concepts (preferably from Skyward Sword, any game is fine though)
I'd love to! Many Links act the same, but the background and plot of the concept changes. I wanted this longer but wasn't sure what to add.
Sorry if something's not right, I never finished Skyward Sword and watched a video.
For those who want said video
Yandere! Link (Skyward Sword) Concept
Pairing: Romantic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Stalking mentioned, Obsession, Overprotective behavior, Jealousy, Clingy behavior, Forced affection, Forced relationship implied.
Tumblr media
Skyward Sword, according to the timeline, starts everything.
Link, Zelda, Hyrule, the Master Sword itself... even Ganon.
It begins here with the hero of the sky.
You probably first met him in Skyloft.
He's close friends with Zelda, but ultimately falls for you with time.
His obsession brews before his destiny begins.
As he goes through knight training, he meets you.
You support his training... all with a smile as bright as the sun.
Even if his destiny includes Zelda... Link still harbors a strong feeling of care for you.
When he sees you his heart flutters in longing.
He isn't a man of many words, so his crush is mostly silent.
While you know him on Skyloft you do so much together.
Including Loftwing riding... something you practice with him often.
Link's obsession towards you starts rather sweet.
He's protective of you whenever Groose is around, which you find funny.
You also notice him become increasingly shy towards you.
It's not too hard to tell Link gets bashful around you, trying to hide it but failing.
Before Link is able to admit his ever growing crush towards you... his destiny begins.
While on a Loftwing ride with Zelda, a tornado starts his new way of life.
One that prevents him from seeing you as often as he'd like-
Link knows saving his home and Zelda is on a time limit.
The visits he does manage to get in on Skyloft are quick.
You greet Link with open, yet worried, arms when he lands his Loftwing.
Each time you're slowly hugged by Link, his head laying on your shoulder.
While he fights darkness on the surface below... you are a comfort he clings to when stressed.
It's like everytime he comes to you... he fuels his obsession.
He wants to promise you when things are over... he can care for you.
He can finally confess and live happily with you.
However he doesn't get a chance until the very end of Skyward Sword, where the land of Hyrule begins.
In Link's entire journey, he misses you.
Your smile... your warmth... your comfort...
He always yearned for it while fighting foes such as Ghirahim and Demise.
Words cannot describe how happy he was when he saw you land on the surface with your Loftwing.
You get off the bird-like creature, nervous about the ground under your feet.
"The land beneath the clouds, hu-"
You're nearly toppled over by Link, he crashed into you in an attempt to hug you.
You manage a surprised "Hey, Link!" before being caged to his chest.
The hero barely wants to let you go before you press on his chest.
He wants to hold you forever...
Even when you get him to let go, he still holds onto your hands.
You almost feel intimidated based on the intensity of his gaze on you.
He's been waiting forever to see you again.
Link's overall yandere behavior is Protective, Clingy, Affectionate, and Obsessive.
He's usually all about his darling, showing shy behavior occasionally but also showing a fierce determination to protect you.
He can get jealous, especially when someone like Groose is around you, as he does not wish for you to fall for someone like him.
Link can also be pretty intense when protecting you.
He hates the thought of you being hurt.
Link would kill, yet not out of jealousy.
It's more like he'd slay any monster for you, just to get praise from you.
He craves attention from you.
Think of any yandere Link like a protector to his darling.
He feels it's his job as a hero to defend you, to love you.
He's all yours in his mind.
Link's another yandere that prefers actions over words.
Which is why when he tries to confess, it comes off a bit sudden.
He hugs you before pressing his lips against you in a hesitant and desperate manner.
You may press against him... wishing for him to let go.
Link is strong, however, pulling away after he's gotten a taste of you.
Now he's hooked... the sweet taste of you on the hero's tongue.
Link could probably stalk, it would be hard to hear him.
He's so quiet... watching you like he's studying you.
Link's a yandere to give you his everything.
Like a loyal knight, he'd fight for you because he cares for you.
The warmth of your arms is all he asks in return.
Link is affectionate towards you, hugs and kisses peppered onto you all over.
To him, you're everything.
Connected to him by fate or not... it doesn't matter.
He loves you...
He'd do anything for you.
He's yours.

It is I! The Wizard!
I was hoping to put in a request!
So, I'm really hyperfixating on LOZ rn and I was hoping you would write something for me.
Reader is an alchemist who works for either Vaati or Ghirahim (Vaati preferably but it's up to you) and summons/creates a monster they were told SPECIFICALLY not to do and just goes "Hey, remember that thing you told me not to do?"
If you don't that is totally fine!
OMGGG FIRST REQUEST IM SO HAPPPPYYYY !!
I actually love the idea lol idk why.
safe for everyone!!
Mistake
"Should I be mad ?" He mumbled while looking up at you, a mix between annoyance, amusement and exhaustion. He knew. He instantly knew. The knock on the door ? The dumb smile ? The small little bounce ? Yep. He knew. He sighed, he didn't even try to be angry, he just knew that would happen.
You're little smile dropped and you stared at him dead in the eyes. "I did it" you admitted in a whisper. "Did what…?"
"The thing you told me not to do"
...
"(Name)-"
"I called it Terrence !!"
><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><
The curtains were torn everywhere, there were bite marks on the tables, even a bit of...uhm...fur ? On the ceiling? Vaati frowned in confusion as he looked up at the ceiling. How did it get here? A big bulging eye, weird black/dark blue fur, a sticking tongue. So cute waw.
''You should've called him Terror not Terrence." He pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. AGAIN. He was annoyed, pissed, mad anything you want. Vaati entered the room and rolled up his sleeves, he started whistling to the...creature...''Psst, psst Terrence come here...!'' Terrence stared at him, huffing like a puppy, his one big eye was blinking slowly and staring at him. Terrence jumped from the ceiling and started running all over the room, Vaati running behind him to catch him.
You, on the other hand, were leaning against the doorframe with your arms crossed, trying to hold back your laugh. He'd been trying to catch it for about twenty minutes. "Need help ?" You asked teasingly "Shut the f*ck up (Name)" he replied from across the room. You chuckled, amused to see him run and jump everywhere trying to reach the creature.
You shook your head and finally decided to help him. Too late, Vaati already caught Terrence. ...wait. OH SHIT-
"VAATI DON'T TOUCH THE TAIL—" you shouted.
><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><
"You could've tell me earlier" he grumbled while you were wrapping the bandage around his head. It was the first time you saw him without his cap. You giggled nervously and tried to avoid his glare. "I'm sorry, I forgot... I only remembered when I saw you trying to catch him by his tail." He looked up at you, you were focused and a bit embarrassed when wrapping the bandages. He was staring at you intensely. When you noticed his intense gaze on you, you release the bandages and stare back, a small blush creeping on your face.
"W-what ?" You mumbled shyly. He kept staring, he cupped your chin and leaned closer. Your eyes widened and you let him, you were expecting him to kiss you so you closed your eyes and waited. He kept leaning closer until Terrence barked. He stopped and you opened your eyes.
Vaati smirked and got up, grabbing his cap at the same time. He walked away but before leaving he said playfully y.
"You're fired !!"—
"WHAT ?"

"You know, Zelda... There's something I've been meaning to talk to you about."
Tumblr media
Happy Valentines Day :) This is my obligatory SS Zelink appreciation post.
Time for another headcanon ramble!!! 🎉
As one of my favorite LoZ games (and one I'm playing through right now), Skyward Sword just had to be what I posted on Valentine's Day! Link and Zelda in this game are so cute! They're practically canon, they even have a theme titled "Romance in the Air" (and no one can convince me the pun isn't intended).
It's pretty clear that, unlike most games, their relationship wasn't ambiguous. These first incarnations were childhood friends, and even before the world was at stake it seemed their bond was unbreakable. Their dynamic in general is amazing, and the chemistry that is somehow present within scenes without Link talking beyond dialogue options really goes to show how close the two are. It really makes me feel bad that they had to go through so much just to get that moment of calm back.
Near the beginning of the game, Zelda (somewhat timidly) asks Link to go fly through the clouds with her in celebration of his victory at the Wing Ceremony. While they're in the sky on the backs of their loftwings, Zelda mentions there's something she's been meaning to talk to Link about. But, of course, she gets ripped from the sky by a dark tornado just before she can finish her sentence. She never gets to finish, either, as when she lands she is plunged into a destiny she unknowingly set for herself eons ago. Both are sent on journeys of their own, ultimately leading to the reunion of the Triforce and the Hylia statue's return to the surface. It is there that Zelda tells Link she wants to stay in this land. Many people interpret Link's smile in response as an agreement. While I am one of those people, I also believe that Link had more to say afterword.
Throughout the events of Skyward Sword, it is very clear his initial motivations were to make sure Zelda was okay. Even if dismissed or further separated by Impa or Ghirahim, Link was willing to take up a sword and fight to reach her. And, in the end, his worst fears came true. Not only did Zelda have to seal herself away- potentially forever if he failed- but when he freed her, Ghirahim intervened and put Zelda's life on the line. Despite the severity of the situation, I don't think Link saw a goddess's soul about to revive the ancient king of demons. I think he saw his best friend, the girl he loved, in the midst of life or death.
In the end, when the two finally achieve the peace they've been traveling across the surface to grasp, there's a final post credits scene with them atop the descended Hylia statue. Link plays Ballad of the Goddess on Zelda's harp much like she did at the beginning, and they get to take in the hope of a new future over the horizon. With everything they'd been through up until then, what would be a better time to finish where they left off with their lives?
Anyway, that's where I'll leave the rambling for now. To be continued, more than likely.
Reblogging is fine, but please don't post this anywhere else without linking the original post. Thanks!

Hey Pinky, I love your work and please spare me for the hurt I will give you with this!
Imagine that Reader gets reborn like Link and Zelda and the Link always fell in love with Reader some met earlier, some later. But in the end Reader always dies, in the hand of the evil or even worse them. How ? Like that
Sky's Reader is his childhood friend and he loves them with his whole heart but they fall onto the surface two years before his adventure and as he met them Ghirahim had them as his captive. Sky just sees red, he didn't see his love for two long years and now his greatest enemy is holding them. He is the best swordsman and just attacks, attacks and attacks until he smells blood and only then he realises that he stabbed his love as Ghirahim used Reader as his meat-shield.
Four's Reader died as they tried to save Zelda! From the Shadow Link, but as they were not one of the seven maidens they were useless and killed. He found their body as he killed Vaati, relieved to finally see his first love again.
Time has a Gerudo Reader, when female, and he fell in love as they were so kind to him as he was held captive by them. They brought him food and talked to him or if Reader was a male, they gave him their food and talked to him. As he got transported back, Reader wouldn't recognise him, but Reader died. Hylia gave them the purpose that Time does everything to defeat Ganon and after he does they weren't for any use anymore.
Now to Legend and I'm SO SORRY! He met them as children, they often came to him and his uncle from Kakariko. He didn't notice that he fell in love with them and after his adventure with Marin he rejected Reader harshly. But after a while he was worried. Reader used to come to him at least once a week for food and look after him or to take care of his house, when he is travelling again. But they didn't come, it went so far that he jumped onto his feet when he just saw a shadow running past his window. So he went to their house and found them dead. They killed themself as Legend said, he would never be able to love any other person but Marin. Wake up, Reader... Please...
Hyrule's Reader was kinda like him. Here he didn't have the Lifespell from the beginning so don't question it. They travelled with him so that he wasn't alone! Reader was very confident and protective over Hyrule so of course they jumped into an attack for him. They gave him the Lifespell before they dissolved into dust.
Twilight one is tricky, similar to Legend would be boring so I levelled it up! Reader and Twilight were a couple! But Twilight fell in love with Midna and broke up with them. He said they could stay as friends but I mean, seriously man? You just broke their heart! They ran away from him, from Ordon, from everything, but to make it even worse. Reader is Colin's older sibling! And the oldest child of Rusl and Uli! So after his adventure and Midna's farewell, he learns that Reader disappeared! And he looks for them, nobody knows until this day if Reader still lives or died. But Twilight blames himself for it...
Now to Wind, and I'm kinda sorry to break that little man's heart. His Reader was on Tetra's ship but only to get back to their island. They lived with a Great Fairy! And Wind was smitten! They were able to do magic! So cool!! But Ganondorf saw them as a threat and kidnapped them and nobody knew! Wind learned that they burned down with the fortress by Valoo from Ganondorf. As he impaled that a**h*le he rushed towards the fortress to find a burned corpse, fully knowing who it was.
Warriors got it hard. Reader was a mage and put protection spells over Wars as he was chased down by a Yandere Witch, I mean What the hell!? Cia noticed how Warriors just had eyes for them and only them. So she erased their existence but thanks to Reader's spells, he remembers them! But he is the only one! Not even Cia and Lana remember them anymore!! He wants them back!
Now to Wild, Reader was with him as a medic! And he knows them since he was a kid! They were inseparable! But then he became an appointed knight and they didn't have much time together. Then the Calamity... His last thoughts were about them as they ran towards a child and pushed it away from the laser, the child was the ancestor of Ralera. He forgot about them and even though Zelda thought it was her moment to get Wild's heart. She can't. Someone is missing! But who?! Who is missing!?! Let me remember!! Please remember, who is missing!?!
Reader gets always reborn even in the Hyrule in-between the eras, but of course they don't remember any of them and this breaks them even more.
Interesting theory.
I think the only one that wouldn't make sense is Time's. (and it's purely just because of the way you phased it) If Reader was Gerudo, then of course they're female. Ganondorf was already born and grown and only one male is born to the Gerudo every 100 years. No need for the second part.
And for Wild's, now that I'm thinking about it, he wouldn't know how his Reader would have died. He was with Zelda the entire time and they were running from the Spring of Wisdom. They weren't able to get back before he exhausted himself to death protecting the princess. Coming back, after Wild remembers, he would probably just assume that they died in the calamity just like everyone else.
Warrior's actually hurt the most because of course Cia would try something like that in her temper tantrums. No one would understand why Warrior would be heartbroken over a an "imaginary" friend.

mesh with Warriors?
NAN TOLD ME MESH COULD ALSO MEAN WORKING TOGETHER AND I MADE 2000+ WORDS FOR IT💀💀💀
Bonds of the Knights
(Going back to this divider now)
Tumblr media
His limbs shivered when he opened his eyes. He sat up, shaking his head to focus his blurry eyes. There were three lit torches around him. In front of him was a door. Scarlet lines illuminated the door.
Warriors looked around. Where was he?
He remembered the rain taking out their fire and how loud everyone’s groan was. Then the chill he felt when the swirl of purple and black appeared not too far from the camp.
They’d packed up their things and went through the portal in pairs. He hadn’t really chosen to pair with Sky, it mostly just happened.
The last thing he remembered was going through the portal with Sky by his side. He didn’t remember what was on the other side. Warriors decided that this was on the other side.
Where was everyone else? At least, where is Sky?
Warriors called out for Sky, but got no answer. Warriors stood up and walked toward the door. Warriors put his hands on the door and felt a small prick. He squeaked and jumped back.
“Welcome to my perfect game, Sky Child, Pretty Boy,” Warriors recognized that voice. He saw the white clothes with diamonds showing pale skin. “I truly hope you can reach the end before the poison sets in, oh how tragic it would be if you died here!” The Demon Lord’s laugh echoed in his head.
The rumbling of the floor made Warriors turn back. The door was opening on its own. His lips wavered, but he knit his eyebrows and walked forward.
It was brighter here. The room was much more rich in torches, but the chasm chased away any thoughts of security. The way forward was narrow, like it was half of the original path.
Warriors pressed his back against the wall and started forward. He shimmied against the wall, half of his feet hanging over the chasm. His heart beated in his ears as he traveled, feeling the absence of ground under his feet.
When he felt ground under his entire foot, he opened his eyes, realizing that his eyes were closed in the first place.
If he went forward, to the left of the room, there was clearly another door. He, no doubt, had to go through there. If he went through the narrow path, he’d reach a door with a lock on it. In order to get the key, he had to go through the door in front of him.
Warriors let go of the wall, but was only able to take three steps before he froze.
“Sweet mother!” The voice was muffled, but Warriors knew it. He ran back to the wall he was once up against.
Warriors hit the wall with his fist as hard as he could. “Sky?” Warriors’s ear pressed against the wall. “Sky, can you hear me?” He shouted.
“Captain?” He heard the response.
“Yes! It’s me!” A smile found Warriors’s face. “It’s the Captain!” He giggled, relief overcoming him, “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine! Only…the poison…” Warriors cursed more than he thinks he’s ever done.
The poison that Ghirahim put inside them. The poison they had to beat before it set in.
What does your end look like?” Sky threw Warriors out of his thoughts.
Warriors looked around. “Well, there’s that narrow path to get here,” Sky hummed. “Behind me is a door. To my left is a locked door,” Warriors described, “How about your end?”
“Basically the same, but mirrored,” Sky said. There was a few beats before Sky spoke again. “Captain, I know you’re not accustomed to dungeons, but you got this! We can work through this together. Go through the door behind you. When you get that key, come back to this wall and scream. If I don’t respond with a scream, wait for me and I’ll scream when I get back here, yeah?” Sky’s voice took on that supportive sibling tone that Warriors had always loved hearing from the Skyloftian.
Warriors nodded, then fumbled on his words. “Yeah!”
“Use your items as much as possible. Cheat if you need to. We’re on borrowed time.”
“Yeah!”
“Let’s go!” Warriors heard the footsteps fade in sound. Sky was leaving. Warriors groaned and turned, running to the unlocked door.
Warriors tapped it in various spots, making sure nothing else would prick him. When nothing did, he tried to push open the door. It didn’t budge. He tried to find a handle to pull the door. There was nothing.
Warriors’s last idea is what worked. He shuffled his finger under the door and found a grip. He bent his legs and lifted the stone door. It rumbled as it opened, just as the first one had done. When his body was inside the room, Warriors dropped the door. Behind him, the door bared itself shut.
“The first room, how exciting! What a dungeon this must be!” That mocking voice, the sly demon. “I hate making puzzles, so I didn’t! However, I love watching agony set in. So while your mortal body feels my lovely poison, you can slay some throwaways…or vise versa!”
Warriors unsheathed his sword. In front of him, he saw a chest. However, the chest was behind bars. Surrounding the way to the chest, were closed eyes. Whether that was designed that way or if it was an enemy, he didn’t know.
He creeped forward a few steps before freezing again. On the center of the floor, there was a circular shadow. Just a shadow, but Warriors didn’t know where it was coming from.
Warriors’s took a deep breath, hoping to calm his heart’s rapid beating. He reached back for his shield, but he didn’t feel it.
“Wha-“ then he remembered again. The rain, the brutally pouring rain. He used his scarf to block out what he could. Sky had given away his sailcloth because the Smithy had already been battling a sickness.
Warriors gave Sky his shield.
Warriors cursed, baring his sword alone. He counted to three then dashed for it. He ran under the shadow, but went past it.
Warriors turned around. He hummed with mild distaste. It was almost like a snake…but with three heads. He also guessed that the bones around its or their faces were supposed to be a form of armor or defense.
Its heads moved up and down, like it was trying to tell him some pattern. Then its eyes turned red. Warriors jumped back as it leaped for him, its mouth opening to take a chomp at him.
He used the momentum he gained from jumping back and turned it into a jump attack. When his sword hit one of the heads, the head under it was destroyed.
But when he stepped back, it regrew. The creature’s heads moved up and down once more, as if avoiding being in one line.
Refusing being in one line…?
A monstrous grin found Warriors’s face as the puzzle piece finally decided to fit.
They won’t stay in the same line because, if he gets them all at once, it dies. Nothing a well timed spin attack couldn’t accomplish.
The monster’s eyes turned red and it attacked Warriors with all three of its heads. Warriors threw himself into a spin attack. He heard the creature screech and jumped back.
He only hit two heads.
Warriors cursed, getting closer again so it would attack him.
One, two, two, two, one, two. He never got all three of the heads and with every swing, he wondered just how long this entire dungeon would take.
Three.
The stal monster screeched again, this time, its body dissipated into a purple cloud shaped like a skull. Then, even that cloud was gone, leaving no trace of the monster. The only thing it left was a key.
Behind Warriors, a creaking sound was heard. He turned around and saw that the door was no longer barred.
He grabbed the key and got out as soon as he can. He ran to the wall and screamed his lungs out. He heard another scream.
“You got your key?”
“Yeah! Let’s go!” Sky’s footsteps went in the direction of Warriors’s locked door. Warriors made his own trek to the locked door.
Warriors had to hug the wall again. “Goddesses, I hate this part,” Sky whinned from, what sounded like, behind Warriors.
They shiffled across the narrow path until they got to the steps. From there, it didn’t take long to put the key in and twist to open the door.
The door opened on its own, blasting hot air into Warriors’s face. The path that shown was, in no way, a narrow path.
Warriors took a step forward and saw a well worn leather boot touch the ground next to him. When his body had cleared the wall, he saw Sky. He didn’t only hear him, he saw him. Sky was not smiling. Sky didn’t even have a sign of pep in his voice.
“Scaldera.” It was a simple word, no, it was a simple name. Warriors didn’t know what it meant, but he knew it left a sour taste in Sky’s mouth.
“A boss?” Warriors dared to ask. Sky nodded. “Well, since you know him or it, we should have an ok time. We have each other now.” Warriors raised his fist up. Sky smiled a very tired smile, but raised his own fist.
When they tried to bump fists, a electric shock went through their hand. They jumped away, groaning at the feeling.
Sky looked around. “I knew these steps were too wide!”
Warriors went back and reached his hand out. There was a wall, a wall they couldn’t see. “You bastard,” Warriors cursed.
“Um, so, Scaldera is like a giant fire rock,” Sky began to wave his hands around. “Where I fought him, the Earth Temple, there was a whole bunch of regeneration and shit on the top-“
“Sky-“
“He likes to run up to the top. You can outrun him, but only if you have enough stamina or you can let one of the bombs on the sides take him down-“
“Sky-“
“Then he’ll roll back down, but you have to follow him. So you can roll a bomb in his mouth because he has a rock shell that can only be broken from the inside.”
“Sky!” Sky gulped, looking up at the Captain. “You’re panicking, alright? I need you to breath.”
“We don’t have time. Scaldera-“ Warriors sat down, only regretting it because the floor was warmer than it needed to be. Sky stammered over his words, making it sound like gibberish. “Captain!”
“I’m panicking too, so I’m sitting down now,” the Captain said, sounding calm and collected, but even he couldn’t ignore the violent tremble of his limbs.
Sky groaned. “What about the poison?!”
Warriors took a breath. “One thing I learned about me on this quest is that I’m really impulsive when I panic. I don’t know this Scaldera thing, if I go in impulsively, it could cost me my life. So, I’m sitting down now, so I can be calmer and preferably not die, yeah?”
Sky sighed, but closed his mouth. Soon enough, Sky was sitting down, legs crossed. “I don’t remember the last time I was really timed to do things. I don’t work well under so much pressure,” Sky chuckled, “you should’ve seen me during the Silent Realm trials.”
Warriors guided Sky through breath for some time before they stood up and started up the steps.
There was a slope, curved half way up. Warriors couldn’t tell how far up it went. In front of them was a flat platform. Fruits that looked like hearts and flowers that looked like they could blow a fuse were scattered around the small area.
Sky picked a heart fruit and reached over slowly to give it to Warriors. Warriors looked at Sky, questioning his actions, before he reached out.
The fruit felt slimy, maybe even gooey. Warriors gave Sky a strained smile. Sky’s smile was much better than before.
For a minute, Warriors thought that Sky was telling him “thank you.”
Then there was loud rumbling coming from above them. They both looked up. Warriors hadn’t noticed the gigantic bones that were embedded into the ceiling. At least, not until he saw a giant rock rolling inside those bones.
Warriors looked back at Sky. He pointed up to where he had seen the giant rock. “Is that…” Sky nodded, his lips pressed tight to show his distaste.
Warriors looked back up, then back at Sky. “I didn’t see two…?” Warriors tried to brighten the mood. Sky nodded. His face had changed again, his eyes were sharp and lifeless. Warriors didn’t like how monstrously dull his eyes had gotten from seeing a giant rock rolling above him.
Sky had started walking. Warriors caught up quickly after Sky jumped down to the start of the slope. Sky pointed to somewhere higher on the slope. “When I fought this thing, it popped up when I stood there. We should walk on the sides of the slope.” Warriors nodded.
Sky sighed. “I’m glad we’re fighting the same guy. I thought we’d have to fight on our own when we found the invisible wall thing.” Sky rubbed the back of his neck.
Warriors rubbed his chin as he thought. “If I remember correctly, you said you have to put bombs in his mouth, because that’s how we kill it?” Sky nodded. “I don’t mean to jab at you, but your stamina isn’t the best, so maybe you should throw the bomb at him. After that, I’ll chase it down, shove a bomb in its mouth, and then run back up.”
“What about when it stands up?”
“You didn’t say anything about it standing up!”
“It stands up after you take all of the rock armor off. Without the rock armor, it’s just a ball of lava…with long legs.”
They stared at each other for a second. Warriors wanted to sit down again. “What then?”
“We, or I, will have to throw bombs at its face. It’ll roll back down, throw a bomb in its mouth again, stab its eye a whole bunch while it tries to dodge your sword, kill it.”
Warriors sighed. “Yeah. OK.” Warriors shifted his gaze up. “Are we ready then?”
“When he spawns, we should scout out the top,” Sky pointed to where the slope leveled out, “see how many heart fruits we get. Bomb flowers regenerate fast by the way.” Warriors nodded.
The two heroes met eyes before a grin found their face. They bolted up the slope.

Saw a thumbnail calling Ghirahim the "creepiest Zelda boss" and. First of all, no. Numerous other bosses have him beat on both body horror AND interpersonal drama. Ghirahim is functionally more of a rival, and also mostly using Link against his will as a stress toy/rubber duck style therapist, he doesn't really fully commit to taking the kid gloves off until about a minute before he gets defeated.
But! I digress.
Calling Ghirahim the creepiest boss relies on, whether the viewer realizes or not, recognizing Ghirahim's mannerisms and behavior as disturbing. And yeah he does some disturbing stuff. But thematically he was, as far as I can tell, intentionally designed by the devs to use queer behavior to trigger repulsion in the player, and I think that HAS to be acknowledged before you commit wholesale to just calling him Creepy.
He does do creepy shit. But they decided to convey that creepiness through some very unfortunately queer design. And he's not even actually queer, so it reads as this... gutless, sourceless, mismatched parody, where what should be backing up this threat is some sort of genuine want, whatever that might be, and there's none whatsoever. He's a peacock flashing his feathers but for pure threat reasons.
I do like the idea of a living weapon learning about politeness and manners and the kind of body language that flesh-and-blood beings would find threatening, and I could make some headcanon assumptions about that, but we really have no information on why he behaves the way he does so we just have to take it at face value. Ghirahim postures and poses and soliloquizes but exhibits no genuine desire until, I think, those couple of minutes at the very end of the game.
It's really hard for me to be genuinely scared of him because there's just nothing behind his threatening gestures. Like yeah damn sticking your tongue in my ear is kind of rude, and summoning monsters to kick my ass is annoying, but it's also not really outside the expected patterns. SkSw Link has a bully (Groose) and kicks demon ass anytime he's on the surface. And, sometimes, Ghirahim is there voguing and bitching about his love life job, beating me to my goals.
If you mean specifically boss battles, though, then the final fight against him is definitely one of my favorites because you see an incredible amount of character development for him, direct acknowledgement of Link as something powerful and terrifying, and also the visuals/setting are really fucking cool. To some extent I think you can ONLY fully understand Ghirahim as a character after that boss battle, because that's the only time it's actually genuine and personal for him.
We all know, of course, that the actual scariest things in Skyward Sword are the sacred trials.
Tl;dr Ghirahim isn't actually scary until the last minute because the only serious threat he poses either physically or psychologically is Summon Thing, Stab Link, Spill Tea, and Kidnap Princess, two of which are par for the course, one of which is a nonissue, and one of which we are actively trying to solve. Most of his stylistic scare factor is just him behaving like a dramatic gay queen. The sacred trial guardians are 100% scarier.

Chaos??? Kinda??? I was inspired by the idea that @yiga-hellhole had in TFTK that Ghirahim ogled Zant’s tits (transmasc) the first time he saw Zant naked…and that Ghirahim is getting his just desserts by Zant pressing his whole face in Ghirahim’s tits (not quite transmasc??? But still there bc muscle???) like he wants to disappear into them.
But Ghirahim is going to be sassy about it.

A Fathers Love
Link X Reader
Prequel to “A Change in Jobs”
Skyward sword!
A slash of Link’s sword to (Y/n), the were unable to dodge. Within a moment they were knocked to the ground, bleeding and gasping. Ghirahim sat upon the statue, calmly staring down at (Y/n). “Pathetic.” He whispered, snapping and beginning to speak to Link. (Y/n) leaned their head against the metal statue, cooling themself off as their father spoke. They pressed their hand to their wound across their chest. Their legs already cut up from Link’s expert sword fighting. Just a few more moments and their father would take them to heal them. Their breath was labored, the blood wasn’t stopping and the pain kept going deeper. (Y/n) looked up and met eyes with their father. The red and yellow eyes stared, disappointment and disgust painted his face.
He snapped. And vanished. The statue above them began to move.
(Y/n)’s breath hitched in their throat, realizing what had happened. “Father?” They whispered, looking around wildly. “Father?!” They needed to move, they realized. Their body cried in agony as they forced themselves up and away from the monster. Link’s face had turned from determination to horror as they crawled to the wall. (Y/n) turned to watch the battle, their vision turning fuzzy. They felt two hands wrap around their torso and drag them to the wall. “I’ll be right back. Stay there.” So cold. So far away.
This wasn’t their father. Their father may have been a part of the demon tribe, but that didn’t mean he was… evil. He was kind. He was… he was father. He had saved (Y/n) from their fall through the clouds and raised them as his own. He loved (Y/n) like his child, didn’t he? Or at least… that’s what they thought. Throughout the years he’d apologize for his behavior. “I don’t know what’s happening (Y/n), but if I ever lose myself I’m sorry. I will always love you my dear.” The words rang clear in their mind. Was Ghirahim slowly losing himself? Had he been? Was (Y/n) too blinded by unconditional love for their father to realize? It was no use now. Father had left them to die. That was the shattering truth. The only person who cared to save them was their enemy.
(Y/n) gasped awake, Link kneeling above them. He had an unreadable expression as a fairy danced over their head. It fluttered away, their wounds feeling almost nonexistent. The one within their heart felt fresh and deep. Link stood, walking away from them. (Y/n) sat up, trying to gain their bearings enough to go home. As soon as the sky child left the room, Father appeared. “You’re alive.” He remarked. “So I am.” (Y/n) bit back. “I’m sorry. I forgot you.” Ghirahim replied coldly. Almost no emotion behind the words.
Then… (Y/n) watched as Link was beat by their father. Over and over, projectiles flying at him. Their fathers sword flying up to finish off the boy, and (Y/n) threw themselves in front of the blade. Their body moved before their brain could process what was happening. Link saved their life, it was only fair for (Y/n) to repay such a favor. “Father no!” They screamed, and Ghirahim stopped. His red eyes flashed to blue, and they saw (Y/n). Those eyes saw (Y/n) for the first time in years. “Sweetheart?” He whispered, lowering the blade. “What’s happening?” Link stumbled behind the two, collapsing on the ground with a groan. (Y/n) turned, crouching down to help the boy. They heard as Ghirahim groaned, sword clattering to the ground. The groan sounded split between two voices. (Y/n) looked up at their father, a blue eye and a red eye glaring at them. “Honey, if you know what’s good for you,” his voice dropped an octave. “You’d better run.” (Y/n)’s eyes widened, and they grabbed Link. Ghirahim’s hand raised in the air and snapped. (Y/n) and Link vanished in a flash of diamonds.
“There, I repaid you.” (Y/n) gasped, recognizing the bright green forest they appeared in.
