also: religion is kind of like personal science.
scientific method that shit.
Observation/Question is your motivating factors. your goals. your aspirations. what is your purpose for doing this ? what do you want to get out of your worship ? (a smaller example would be like. how would you celebrate a specific festival?)
Research is. research.
Hypothesis is the basic planning of what you want to happen, in tangible terms. it is writing a ritual, or plotting out your festival calendar. it is applying the research to your goals to make something that you can do in your own life.
Experiment is the work. do the ritual. make the altar. so on and so forth.
Collect Data/Analysis/Conclusion - what happened during the Experiment ? how did you feel during it ? how do you feel later, after the fact ? did it go how you planned ? did you get what you wanted ? will you do it again ? why/why not ?
and then return to start for the next thing !
i recommend a journal to help you organize your thoughts (in whatever format you prefer) any spark of inspiration, any connections you make, anything you learn that really makes you excited, these are all good things to write down.
one of the hardest things about being pagan is doing everything by yourself, but imo that's also one of the most exciting things ! my practice is personalized completely to me ! i am building it myself ! and it is changing as i am changing ! isn't that so fucking cool !!

omfg . radio play version of much ado with david as benedick from 2001
#this version of benedick is a lottttt more serious and restrained than the 2011 version#definitely due to the medium and bc it matches the energy of this version of beatrice way better#it's not david and catherine's insane comedic chemistry but it's still really good imo..#like it's obviously not as endlessly fucking funny as the 2011 version but it's still really solid#and i'm impressed with how they did the humor in a 100% audio format#and i actually really love this interpretation of benedick as more cynical and leaning into his Hater side#ironically david's benedick here generally comes off as older and more mature than his benedick 10 years later#'the prince's fool... hAhH???' is obviously extremely funny but also 'the prince's fool... [uppity hmph]' is Inspired#and his outraged 'oh!'s and gasps and sighs when he listens to don pedro/claudio/leonato talking abt beatrice being in love with him#also funnily enough i think benedick's whole monologue after this is SO good. if not better than the 2011 version#cuz it's more restrained you have benedick's haterism actively fighting and losing against his satisfaction and giddy laughter#and the bit where benedick challenges claudio is so ohhhghhgouhgghg#the way his voice deepens with 'and her death shall fall heavy on you' just FLOORS me it's fucking perfect#but also equally as fun are the line readings where they have evidently remained the same (or similar)#my dearrrrr ladyyyy disdaiiiiinnnn#and the 'she misused me past the endurance of a block' rant#and when he's bitching about claudio falling in love w hero#but the vibes are so different this feels like a whole separate guy and that's really cool#i'm not sure how much i would love this production overall if i wasn't as familiar w the play tho#much ado#shakespeare#essentially trying to say in the least embarrassing way possible that david tennant is now both my first and second favorite benedick

Man I just finished Babel and I was excited to read discussions online because there's so much going on in it with so many little things and just....angry white people. Everywhere. Truly a dead dove moment.
#the “you can't trust white people” theme might be a little like...aggressive but gosh you are not wrong#rf kuang#it was such a good depiction imo#it felt so much like explaining to white (or sometimes black) people what the problem is#especially felt like explaining being queer to straight people#i feel like a lot of people have at least a vague intellectual understanding of racism even if they don't see the racism#babel an arcane history#babel or the necessity of violence#also she captured a fair bit of mixed race and chinese diaspora feelings#also also i can see the relationship to the secret history and the fact that this is a rebuttal of dark academia while being dark academia#also realizing i dislike dark academia tbh#just...the ye olde university feeling is not my style#hence i went to engineering school where it had a je ne sais quois that i think is widespread neurodivergence#the good old boys clubs just do not interest me and i cannot really care about their lifestyles#it's not bad mind you it's just not for me#babel however is the exception that made me realize i dislike dark academia#hated the cloisters#got a rec for the secret history and had negative interest in that#i really want more and better depictions of engineering school and like...any similar experiences to what i had#they just do things like the social network where it's still a rich kid good old boys club but now with “nerds” who are just business majors#like the big tech guys of the modern era are primarily business guys not like...building computers in their basement#give me aome barely functional people who lean heavily into being weird once they go to school and they have hijinks like#updating archlinux and giving the other people shots if you get xyz system working again#first to get x11 back? Man I love the way F+C is handling their multiverse so so much its super refreshing against all the like... "normal" multiverse stuff that's been in the zeitgeist lately
#like I dont dislike the 'everything possible is out there' take but it takes a little lampshading to work the way most stories need#EEAAO actually did a great job with the 'normal' multiverse but they leaned hard into nihilism for that to work#F+C's finite wish based universe is just a neat twist on it that also makes it serve the narrative SO much better imo#fionna and cake

it's such a stupid pet-peeve because it doesn't actually matter, but I wish people stopped calling Tristamp Wolfwood's shoes loafers
They're too snug and have no raised heel, and the inner piping matches the super-flat sole. Plus whatever material they're made of looks thinner and more flexible than treated leather that usually gets associated with loafers. They look closer to flat espadrilles or rounded Moroccan balghas/babouches to me tbh, closest loafer would be a traditionally-styled penny loafer but they still usually have really specific piping that loops around the toe
(this is all very petty because none of it is worth caring about beyond "how easily can the shoe be taken off to be emptied of sand" and all of them are basically just cozy slip-ons lmao)

is it just me or has there been a major shift in the way people write mingyu smut now that he’s buffer? for years he was always mostly characterized as needy & soft, oftentimes subby but now almost every single thing about him is all super hard dom dd/lg tummy bulging size kink stuff, I miss the old content 😭 he was one of the rare tall male idols who wasn’t stereotyped as being super dominant but we lost now that he’s more muscular rip

i would also like to add that i’ve had similar convos about like how a lot of creators aren’t very inclusive anymore which sort of reminds me of this, and what i’ll say is people just write for themselves and what they like so your best bet is either requesting something you’re into or just writing what you want yourself. that’s what i do!!! :) but yeah i’m sorry you’re not finding things you want to read and i hope you’re able to find cc’s who write your type of content

I think I finally figured out how to make beef roasts not taste like shit (they taste so gamey to me compared to cuts like stew meat/beef tips or steaks).
Crockpot on high for 6 hours, heavily season. Put your carrots, potatoes, whatever root veggies you add to your liking. Cover with water. Take out and put in the oven with a little of the "broth" from the crockpot. Either bake at 375°f for 30 min or broil until crispy and brown. Let cool/rest for 10 min. While the meat is in the oven, use the "broth" to make gravy and either put the gravy back in the crockpot with the veggies, or leave it all separate. Enjoy

#marquilla#i didnt brown the meat bc honestly doing that for roasts is such a pain in my ass idk why i think the fat smelling gamey is why#like i heavily trim the roasts before i freeze em/use em (you can freeze the extra uncooked fat and put it in a cheese cloth and tie it shut#and it adds more flavor and then you can fish it out easily) anyway i trim it but i still leave SOME fat on it bc thats what you do but#god i can't stand the smell and i have to cook it at a high heat to sear it and blugh i just hate it#but putting it in the broiler gets you that crusty outside and tender inside 🤤👍 and the color goes from light brown to delicious dark#brown it was so good#when my mom made roasts growing up they were just made in the oven and they were SO DRY and rough and she wouldnt trim the fat#so it was SO gamey and yucky and id eat it wishing it was stew meat sgdggdgdgd#idk stew meat is just so much better imo it's not as tough fiber wise and it's usually lean so browning it is easy to me#anyway anyways it was really good sgdgdhdh the meat was so tender and crispy on the edges 😭 i was cutting it like oh yeah it's all#coming together sggdgdgdgd
